I first experienced this game by trying the demo. After that I was sold. The NFS games have had their ups and downs over the years. The racing storyline seems to change on a yearly basis keeping the concept fresh. With Carbon you are a brash racer who is coming back to his old haunts. Now it's up to you to race others in non stop action. I was in awe playing this game realizing how wonderful the graphics were. They really bring the environments alive as you are able to see how long they spent creating these wonderful environments. The excitement that comes from this game is when you begin to realize that your in a nonstop world with the ability to find races anywhere in the city. There are numerous territories that are controlled by different racers and it's up to you to challenge those racers for the territory. Being succesful takes many steps as you have to compete in several races before you can challenge the leader of each racing group. That is where you get to have a pulse pounding race in the canyons. Avoiding hair raising turns that can have you swerving off a cliff. In this game you will experience the tried and true formula of the pursuit where the police will be on your tail and you can gain a wanted status. What's new to this game is the teammate formula where you are able to use the team mate to take out an opponent. The system works well for the most part and adds a great new addition into the NFS series. I would have to say overall this has been one of my favorite NFS games. If you enjoy great arcade racing give Carbon a try. You won't regret it.

Gameplay: 8.4

Every car handles differently, every course is linked together in one massive world, and the controls will take you back to the days of arcade racers like Daytona USA. (Actual arcade racers the ones with $5,000 cabinets all arcade owners dreaded purchasing.) The customization features are a little shallow, and the game is a little easy. Okay, a lot easy. But you'll love the ride while it lasts, and you're going to want to play through this racer more than once.

Graphics: 8

The cars look amazing. Every part of them is packed with realistic detail. Even the interiors are noticeably accurate. The cars reflect the city lights quite beautifully, and will do so differently depending on the type of finish that's been applied (chrome, matte, etc.).

Carbon's environments aren't nearly as memorable. The backgrounds aren't that far beyond what was possible with the old Xbox. Also, the cars, as gorgeous as they are, cannot be damaged. They can crash repeatedly, and abolish generic police vehicles. But your vehicles which are from licensed manufacturers are as protected as those in Gran Turismo, save for a few scratches every now and then (that magically disappear after every race).

I know that this is what most, not all, automakers want. But if some manufacturers are on board and others are not, maybe it's the supportive companies you should be focusing on to give the gamer the most intense experience possible.

Sound: 7.9

Hurray for the return of full-motion video! First you get to see the actors, who look toward the camera when talking to the player's character as if you were actually in the story. The actors also appear in polygon form, with extreme realism to boot. Their polygon expressions are a little better than their real expressions, mainly due to the real actors' lack of believability.

The voices they're better than most, but have a hint of "video game syndrome." It looks like a bunch of actors were hired to be in a video game. It doesn't look or sound like they were hired to be in a professionally written story. Which isn't too surprising. Carbon's characters only have one theme: "take my city and I'll hate you forever" (an exaggerated but truthful interpretation).

Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Most Career mode races can be won on the first try. The external challenge mode provides additional races to conquer, but they're not enough to boost this game's difficulty.

Concept: 7.5

It's Need For Speed all over again. I'm not about to be one of those crazy people who say the series needs an overhaul to be great again. It doesn't. I love the direction the developers have taken. That said, it's not an original direction, just one of polish. But this series is meant to be a certain way. To make it original again would likely eliminate all the things we love.

Multiplayer: 8

Four for co-op; eight for multiplayer via Xbox Live. Some of the Career mode races are playable online as well for added challenges.

Overall: 8.2

A throwback to the good old, worry-free days of arcade racing. This is the kind of game you'll play after seeing The Fast and the Furious (or any other street racing flick). You might hate that series you might think the third Furious is the worst movie ever made. But mark my words, if you're flipping through and it's on TV, you will drop the remote, grab your 360 controller, and play this game.

I've been playing this game since I got it for Christmas. Normally, I'm more of a fan of shooting games but I really like this one. The graphics are very nice and the game is simply enjoyable. It is fun playing with a buddy on split screen but I do not have X-Box Live and therefore can't comment on the online aspect. I really enjoy the amount of customizing you can do to the cars, which includes nitrous, blowers, turbos, paint, graphics, suspension, etc, etc. One word of advice, when you start out in Career Mode go with something other than the Camaro because I was only able to win a limited number of races with it. It just handles too slopy. I went back to the Maza RX8 and have had much success with it. I'll go back to the muscle cars later because I'm a big fan of them.

Honest reviews on Need for Speed Carbon - Xbox 360

While so many people are more interested in the newer systems that are sold out, Playstation 3, and the Nintendo Wii, there is still a lot of action for Xbox 360 gamers, and holiday shoppers. That has also been said well with the Need For Speed franchise too. Since. they've started to thrive going back to the Underground series, many gamers have always wanted more. Last year, the Most Wanted edition of Need For Speed took gamers by surprise, by delivering the thrills of the race, with the pursuits of cops by the chase. Now, a new chapter has risen for Xbox 360 owners, but can it definitely deliver like before?

Need For Speed Carbon for the Xbox 360, tackles the fast and the furious as you battle your way to tackle your way through street racers and crew gang members, inorder to conquer the city with your crew. In the game you have many great and gripping tracks too from classics like the circuits, sprints, and the return of the drift race tracks from the Underground 2 era. You can also unlock great cars like the Didge Viper, exoticas like the McLaren, and muscles cars that have classic style and classic appeal. The graphics for the game have really shined and are truly polished with each control of the car. The control also brings ut the best with each car, and each bit of the chase. Sadly, though there are a couple of disadvantages to the game. One of them is the thrill of the chase against the police. It was more challenging back in Most Wanted, and there was more to challenge your cars with. Another disadvantage is that if you've played earlier versions of Need For Speed, you might have a too easy time beating the underground racers Darius and his crew.

All in all, I was mostly satisfied with Need For Speed Carbon, but I was just expecting a bit more excitement with each thrilling race. Nevertheless, I really recommend this as a must buy for Xbox 360 owners of all kinds, especially if you don't want to get yourself swept in the dust.

Should of done this to help the people and the seller/product out long ago.

1. It Works!

I bought a slim a couple years ago, didn't want to buy a huge hard drive because they were expensive. I googled if I could use the original Xbox 360 20Gig HD and somehow fit it to the slim. Answer popped up in 10 secs; remove the casing then slowly and perfectly fit it in the big slot in the slim. Was told to use electrical tape so that it wouldn't move around...it worked a few times then stopped. That kept happening so I just removed it and played without a Hard drive for about a year, until this gem found its way to my Amazon.com screen.

Decided to buy it and try it. I placed the Hard Drive in the case and just snapped it together, I then slid it in the slim and abrakadabra it works perfectly. It fits perfectly which is probably the reason why it wasn't working all the time before.

Some people may not need a case, but I like how mine is in a case just like the $99 hard drives out there, and I can pull it out anytime for whatever reason.

PEACE!

I had an original model 360 that red-ringed and I didn't want to get it fixed just to have the same issue again later on, so I bought a 4GB 360 E for GTA V(which will require a mandatory 8GB of installation space) and wanted to re-use my old 120GB drive.

Easiest swap ever, took me literally about 5 minutes. The original 360 drive enclosure has just 4 screws on the outside, and 4 on the inside holding the hard drive cage to the panel, and then the old hard drive unhooks from the cable and slides out. This voids the warranty but I bought mine from China off a popular auction site so I doubt it had one anyway, another bonus is I didn't need to use anything other than a regular Phillips head screwdriver, though I have read that the official ones require a Torx T10 for the outside screws and T6 for the inside screws. Installation into this new enclosure is just dropping the hard drive in with the label side facing up and then clicking the top cover shut on all sides. From there just open up your 360 S or E's hard drive slot and push it until it clicks all the way in and the 360 will instantly recognize the drive and everything on it when you start it up.

This is an absolute bargain over me buying the 250GB 360 E and a hard drive transfer kit. My 120GB still had 80GB free(in addition to having all my old savegames right there on it of course) and I really don't plan to play anything else on the 360 other than GTA V at this point with the Xbox One being right around the corner. It would've been an excessive amount money for an excessive amount of of space.

The only thing that bothers me is that the pull tab on the back says 250GB on it while a 120GB drive sits in the enclosure but it's not like I'll ever look at it again and for the convenience and the money this saved me, it's worth that minor OCD tax.

Dance on Broadway - Nintendo Wii Reviews

Dance on Broadway - Nintendo Wii
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars
Buy Now
Just Dance was a revolution in dancing games. Before it, most dance games just consisted of moving your hands or stomping your feet to an on-screen cue. Just Dance was the first game to incorporate real dance moves to choreographed steps.

Dance on Broadway plays pretty much the same as Just Dance. It retains most of its features, both positive and negative.

You follow one of four silhouetted on-screen characters, mirroring their moves as they dance.

There are also icons that scroll across the bottom of the screen that tell you what moves are coming up (basically, what "pose" you should be hitting when the icon hits the arrow). Honestly, I didn't find this as useful as simply mimicking the on-screen characters themseves, but I'm guessing over time once you memorize what the icons mean it'll help you perfect your performance.

Up to four players can play at the same time. Like Just Dance, this makes for a ton of fun with friends or family.

Each player holds one Wii remote. No nunchuk, no second remote, no MotionPlus is used. This is good in that it simplifies things and there are no cables to get tangled up in. It's not-so-good, as Dance on Broadway still suffers from a lack of precision in motion tracking.

In addition, Dance on Broadway adds a few neat enhancements that its predecessor did not have.

The casting of the four characters matches the song. For example, for "One Night Only", there are four African American women which allows you to live out your dream of being one of the "Dreamgirls". For "Aquarius", there's a nice mix of hippy guys and girls.

The choreography is more detailed. For some of the songs, each of the characters has their own individual dance steps resulting in a pretty cool and fully choreographed Broadway routine when four people are playing together.

The precision of the motion tracking is a little better than before, but still leaves a lot to be desired. Still, as before it's so fun learning the dance steps that you don't really care (I was thrilled with my "70%" accuracy, even though I knew it was really closer to 90%). They do give the advice to hold the remote firmly in your right hand, which I found helped.

The songs are decidedly less "intense" than the ones in Just Dance. The songs are rated by "difficulty" and "effort", but in all honesty, even the most difficult songs were pretty simple. So it's not as good a workout game as its predecessor, but more suited for those of us who have always dreamed of being on Broadway.

There's the option to turn vocals off, meaning you can not only dance, but you can also sing along with the words.

Here's a complete list of songs, the shows they're from, and their rating of Difficult / Effort in parentheses:

All That Jazz from All That Jazz (1/2)

Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In from Hair (1/1)

Bend and Snap from Legally Blond (2/3)

Cabaret from Cabaret (3/2)

Dreamgirls from Dreamgirls (1/2)

Fame from Fame-The Musical (1/3)

Good Morning Baltimore from Hairspray (1/1)

I Just Can't Wait to Be King from The Lion King (2/2)

Luck Be a Lady from Guys and Dolls (3/2)

Little Shop of Horrors from Little Shop of Horrors (2/3)

Lullaby of Broadway from 42nd Street (2/2)

Money, Money from Cabaret (3/3)

My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music (1/2)

One Night Only from Dreamgirls (3/3)

Roxie from Chicago (1/2)

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins (2/3)

Thoroughly Modern Millie from Thoroughly Modern Millie (3/3)

Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Show (3/3)

We're in the Money from 42nd Street (2/3)

You Can't Stop the Beat from Hairspray (2/2)

In short, while I gave Just Dance 5 stars, I'll give this one 4 mainly because I would have liked to see Ubisoft improve the motion tracking more than they did, as well as include more cardio-intensive choreography. Still, it's a solid title which I definitely recommend. There are a lot of titles coming in the next few months like Ubisoft's Gold's Gym Dance Workout, Majesco's Zumba for Wii, and Konami's Dance Dance Revolution which will also focus on real dance moves. I definitely commend Ubisoft for starting this trend, and hope between these companies they can really perfect the motion controls and get the world dancing :)

Are you the kind of person that can't listen to a Broadway soundtrack without tapping your foot and bopping out in your chair? Do you want to get some exercise without even realizing you're working? If you're anything like me, I think you'll like this game. Remember the dancers in the Broadway hit, "Fame", dancing their hearts out to that great song? Or the dancers in "All That Jazz" doing that cool tap dancey thing? Well, this isn't quite as complicated as all that but its lots of movement and fairly easy choreography that you follow along with while the Wiimote records your moves. You can play with up to four people. You choose one of four characters that you would like to be at the beginning, when you choose the song. There are 20 songs, some of which are:

* "All That Jazz"

* "Aquarius"

* Caberet

* Luck Be a Lady

* Lullaby of Broadway

* "Bend and Snap"

* "One Night Only"

* "Dreamgirls"

* "Time Warp"

* "Fame"

* "We're in the Money"

* "Let The Sunshine In"

* "You Can't Stop the Beat"

* "Little Shop of Horrors Theme"

* My Favorite Things

* And there's more....

The idea of the game is to follow your chosen dancer, like in a mirror image, with dance, rhythm and arm movements. One of the options is to set it so you see the words to the songs at the top of the screen and they're highlighted, kind of like a bouncing ball but without the ball, so you can sing along. There really isn't any recording of your voice so it's just kind of for your own amusement. When choosing a song, you see a difficulty level and an effort level shown by the number of stars. Several of the songs are at a somewhat slow pace so it's pretty easy to follow along. There are some little icon figures that move along the bottom that show upcoming moves. I found it easier just to watch the dancers. The game does a reasonably good job of recording your movements and you can see with a gauge above your dancer whether you've missed the move "X", got an "OK" or a "Great". It's possible to get combo points by scoring several "Greats" in a row. Your points are totaled up at the end in each category.

Ok, so why did I give this game only 4 stars if I like it so much? Well, I just got the game today and after playing it for a couple hours I'm already scoring pretty well. It's not that I'm really good at this sort of thing, in fact I'd have to say I'm pretty uncoordinated most of the time. It's just that I like games that are more challenging and I want to get a lot of hours of enjoyment out of it. Now I do have to say that I really, REALLY had fun playing with it tonight. I love the music, the graphics are pretty good and I just like the whole idea of the game. But I'm not sure a couple of weeks from now that I'll be challenged enough to be looking forward to playing it as much. I always compare this type of game to We Cheer and We Cheer 2, by Namco. Those are rhythm games as well, kind of on the same principle, but I couldn't even get past the first song for over a week. I played those games for hours and hours trying to open new levels of songs and stages. (I still have fun playing them). With Dance on Broadway, there are 20 songs and as far as I can tell, everything is accessible right away, no additional challenges or hidden things to open. Some of the songs like All That Jazz and Aquarius are very easy to score on because of the way these games record the Wii movements. Now, if you want to follow along with the steps and really look like the dancers on the screen it will be more difficult. But this game, like others of it's type records only your arm movements to score.

So would I buy the game again? Yeah, I love the music and I'm a sucker for rhythm and musical type games. But I wish it had more levels and was more challenging. The challenge for me will be not so much the scoring, which I think I'll probably be able to ace in a fairly short time, but trying to really copy all the footwork and look like the dancers onscreen. And while it's not as energetic as some games like We Cheer, my arms are sore after playing it for a while. I'm not exactly huffing and puffing but it's still good exercise. I just wish Ubisoft would have added a little more interest and more levels to this game. It's good as far as it goes but seems as though it was rushed to market too soon.

Update 6/27/10 After playing with this game for 10 days I'm finding that the motion sensing is sometimes a little quirky. It doesn't always pick up the motions of the Wiimote as quickly as it should. But we've also had some really big fun with this game when we had friends over. After a couple glasses of wine we started up the game, and after watching, had 4 people playing at a time and it was hilarious! Watching a line of "dancers" make their Broadway debut with exaggerated dance movements and expressions was way funny. And trying to outdo each other on the points kept everyone playing for a long time. Because there are a lot of easy dance numbers like the one from "Hair" or "All That Jazz" everyone can score reasonably well after just a few tries. And there are definitely some that are more difficult and energetic. So I have to give the "party potential" 5 stars even though I rated the game 4 stars for the rest.

I got this for my wife and she loves it. She was big into dance when she was younger and we go to Broadway shows now so this was the perfect game. Can't believe I bought a video game that she actually enjoys! I even had a surprisingly fun time playing some of the more upbeat songs with her too.

Honest reviews on Dance on Broadway - Nintendo Wii

We have "Just Dance 2" and love it.

"Dance on Broadway" is quite a few steps down from "Just Dance"it sucks.

For every song, there are four characters on screen, making it difficult to see their movements. They have created the program to pan around (to the right, left, and above) the characters while they dance, so not only can you NOT see the movements your supposed to be doing, you can't always fully see your character (sometimes the characters do minutely different moves). The characters movements are not fluid, they jerk around. The graphics looks very cheap and like old technology.

The actual dances are slow, repetitive, and simple so much so that I imagine elderly people doing these moves in a water aerobics class.

If you have an older family member that can't keep up with Just Dance, this may be perfect.

You can not enter your name to keep score. The game keeps score for the current song, and then it's gone. You have no way of knowing if you've improved or not.

There are no additional games that you can play only poorly created dances.

The music is great.

I bought Just dance 2 and fell in love with the game. So when I found out that there was a Broadway dance game I was so excited I had to get it! When it came I played it right away but I was disappointed. The graphics were not great and neither were the versions of the songs they used. It was also difficult, at least I found, to know what dance movements you were supposed to do. Overall I was really disappointed with this game.

There is nothing "simple" about this controller, it has so many awesome features. It has about 5 different LED thumbstick colors, along with 5 different LED guide button colors, which can be changed independently. The colors are vibrant, and look even better in person. It also gives you the option to keep them off if you want to save battery life, however, I haven't really noticed a difference in battery life with them on or off. The quality is incredible, it doesnt feel like a cheap aftermarket controller-even though it might cost as much as oneit feels just like the standard controllers made by microsoft. The mods are great, I wasn't too familiar with them at first but after calling the geniusmods customer support, they were able to answer my questions and walk me through it.

Top quality, great customer support, amazing value, thanks geniusmods!

I usually don't buy two controllers, but when I do, it is usually for my little brother. That doesnt mean I dont get to use it. He really likes being able to change the colors to any combination desired. I have an older style LED thumbstick controller that you have to press and hold the thumbsticks for a long time for them to change colors. This one is nice because they change with one click. The 10 mode mods to the controller are a bonus. I dont know why, but modes 1 and 2 are locked and cannot be programmed. They work perfectly in COD. I just modify the programming in mode 10 for some of the handguns.

I played this to completion when it first came out, but didn't own the game. I picked up a copy of the GotY edition today because I wanted to play through on a harder difficulty, and also the challenge modes are the kind of thing it's fun to come back to every once in a while for 15 minutes of fun (which can easily turn into 2 hours).

This is an awesome game and I can't recommend it enough for people who haven't played it.

A couple gripes about the GotY edition:

* My saves and progress from the original version are not compatible. I'm guessing this means that the leaderboards for the challenge modes will also be separate. This is a big disappointment, as I won't be able to compete against my friends who have the original version.

* The 3D is a cool gimmick, but not quite cool enough for me to want to play the whole game that way. I turned it off after about 30 minutes.

Again, I highly recommend this game if you don't own the original, but can't say it's worth picking up if you already have Arkham Asylum.

I've been a gamer for a long time now, although not a die-hard core gamer that has to have everything. I just recently bought an XBox 360 after lots of research. And the reason I bought it was because of this game. I was at the store looking for some PS2 games and saw this advertised with trailers. I was blown away by the look of it. So now I have the GOTY edition, and it is incredible. I've only played it through once, on the easy level, but it was tremendously fun and brought Batman to a new light for me.

I've been a comic book and superhero fan for as long as I've been a gamer, but I've never been a big Batfan. This changes that however. You can fight it out, throw batarangs, use grapples, talk to Oracle, climb up on roofs, into ceilings and ventilation systems, and stalk the bad guys. You can even do the ultra cool crash through the ceiling onto the unsuspecting bad guys! Adding Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill to the voice casting was just the icing on the cake for me.

Hands down, the best video game I've ever played, on any system. You become Batman, and do all of the cool stuff he is known for. Oh, and no Robin!

So, I debated between buying this version and the collector's edition. This is the edition I chose because I read a line that said Joker is a playable character...it said this even for this 360 version of the game. I probably should have done more research, but no Joker is not. Joker is only for PS3, sadly. I was very disappointed to find I had kind of been duped by Amazon's general explanation of the game.

That being said, I did enjoy the game. It was, to be frank, fantastic. Wonderful graphics, smooth gameplay, and multiple levels, made this game very addicting. I look forward to the sequel and hope that Joker (or something of equal value) will be given to 360 owners.

Also, *DO NOT* just buy this game for the 3D. It uses green-red lenses and actually made me sick. The game looks okay, but not exactly the best with 3D. This game was still VERY fun. I highly recommend it. :)

Honest reviews on Batman: Arkham Asylum

I don't even know where to begin with this game. I'm a big superhero geek so I dig a good story involving a superhero. I don't like every piece of garbage that might pass as a "superhero" tale, but once in a while you get a really legitimate piece of gold that contains everything you want in a superhero/comic book game.

This game essentially can be broken into four parts: fighting, scarecrow sequences, riddler challenges, and exploration/plotline. The plotline really delivers on a few really awesome notes. One thing that everybody loves about a good comic book hero/superhero is the he always has a history. A superhero doesn't just pop into existence and start beating the crap out of people. They become this hero. Batman especially has this extremely rich backstory that has been built upon and delved into numerous times. Enough that it's almost common knowledge. This game truly is a love story for anyone that loves the Batman universe and mythology. The shoutouts to old villains and characters that have somewhat fallen by the wayside are amazing little tidbits that captivated me almost more than the main story or gameplay. Which leads me neatly into the next part.

The Riddler challenges are a glorious little gem that may be somewhat overlooked in most reviews. If you don't really like thinking too much and exploring the environments to find little nuances in the scenery than don't bother too much. However, if you want to take a break from the fighting and bataranging, just open up these riddles and get searching it's awesome to see these homages to old characters in the Batman mythology. Definitely a great addition. The Scarecrow sequences don't really make up a very integral part of the story, but it does help to flesh out Batman's backstory as you delve into why Bruce Wayne became Batman and what really haunts the Dark Knight.

Last of all is the fighting. I love the way that this brawler is done. The animations are fluid and there are rarely times when the character models glitch and a henchman receives a phantom blow. 99% of the animations are flawless and look as though the bad guys are getting hit. The overall mechanic to the fighting is simple to use, but really hard to master. The mixture of strike, counter, stun, and the occasional gadget make it a three ish button system. As you strike, you bring henchmen to the ground. The occasional baddy does come up and try to throw a punch, but a quick counter fixes that. Nothing feels better than stringing torgether a 30+ combo in a huge fistfight. With the addition of 3 new challenge maps and 3D the game really is awe inspiring. (The 3D of course is not even noticeable unless you have an HD TV, btw)

Overall, Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of the best games I have ever laid my hands on. It deserves Game of the Year completely and delivers at every turn. A complete story, collectibles, challenges, fighting, exploration, and thinking make this game worth every cent you would pay. Definitely worth whatever you pay.

In general, superhero video games are bad adaptations of the comics on which they are based. Usually, at best they are just an average game (the only exception to this being when a superhero game has a great co-player mode, such as JUSTICE LEAGUE HEROES from a few years ago). That changed with the release of BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM. I didn't have an opportunity to play the game until earlier this year. However, after having played, it is in my opinion the best superhero game ever made so far.

Taking a cue from the graphic novel of the same name, players get to play the game as Batman. The gameplay is great. Just like Batman, you have to use certain weapons to complete certain tasks and defeat different villains. There's a good mix between platform games, puzzle games, and action games. A key to making it through to the next level is using stealth; you can't just jump out of nowhere and beat up everyone in sight. To be successful, you have to stay in the shadows and sometimes wait for the right moment to strike. There's a lot of free range in the game and there are all sorts of collectibles that a person can get as you explore the asylum.

As far as the story goes, Batman is at Arkham dropping off a prisoner when the Joker sets forth his greatest plan to date: Batman is trapped in Arkham during a lockdown where all the inmates are set free. Batman battles one foe after another, including Bane, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, and Poison Ivy. Along the way you save workers who are trapped, solve riddles, and unravel the Joker's master plan. The climactic battle finds Batman facing off against the Joker that is much a battle of brawns as it is brains.

BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM is a must-play game for gamers and anyone who is a Batman fan. It's also highly recommended for anyone who likes superhero games or just enjoys a great single player game.

First, let me just get this off my chest: I will never understand why people complain about something after they buy when they clearly know that one of the features is missing. All of the negative reviews complain that there is no online play and they hate the whole game for it. First of all, it clearly states that this is a single player only and doesn't include online play. Unfortunately some folks don't bother to read what they buy. That's like buying rotten tomatoes at the supermarket that are labeled "rotten" and then come home and start complaining that their tomatoes are rotten and how bad their supermarket is. Now as for MY review below...Yes, I did put "No Online Play" as a negative aspect, but I didn't penalize the game's rating because I knew what I was buying months before this title came out.

The Good:

*The classic game you love without the clean-up part afterwards.

*Several boards to unlock and choose from, including world board, ice board and even cheese board.

*Multiplayer games can be played with a single controller, if only one controller is available(pass controller around.)

The Bad:

*Online Play would've been nice.

*Richest Mode can be dubious with questionable mini-games.

*Mr Moneybags will just not shut up at times and you can't fast-forward what he says.

The Bottom Line:

A great alternative to your old cardboard game. Very colorful graphics that include animated Mr. Moneybags that hosts the games for you. My biggest gripe is the Richest Mode. For those that are not familiar with it, the game is played with 4 players(at least 1 human and 3 computers.) Each round four dice are rolled. The minigame that follows will determine who gets to choose one die first. For example, if a player chooses a 5, 5 of their tokens will land on random board spots. If property is unowned, it goes into their portfolio. If it is owned, they pay a rent of 1 property or more. There is no money involved in the Richest Mode. That is all good, but the concept that completely kills it for me is that if somebody lands on a community chest(regardless if its the last place or the first place,) the poorest player will usually get to steal the richest player's 3 properties! This means that you might as well flip a coin to figure out the winner as this becomes very very random and anyone can win at any time, mostly based on luck. Mini-games will also make you scratch your head. One particular one is a stocking-stuffer game, where everyone fills their stocking with items. Sometimes, one item is enough, but sometimes you need 5 to make it full, which makes no sense. However, because Richest Edition is simply an "extra" to the classic edition, I will not downgrade the rating because you do not have to play it. The classic edition plays perfect with no quirks. This title is a great buy for those who play monopoly often. If you don't play it often, it will simply collect dust.

This release is quite the anomaly. First off, I didn't even know it was out a friend of mine who works at Electronic Arts told me that it had come out. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have known. Now that's not a fault of the game mind you, but for such a classic board game, you'd think it would be a little more promoted. That issue aside..

I was quite looking forward to playing it. I'm a Monopoly fan, and my wife is not, so I never get to play anymore. So I was looking forward to getting in some Monopoly. I sat down, fired it up, and played a few single player games. The game does a very good job at replicating the board game onscreen. There have been some Monopoly games on the PC in the past, and this one is quite good. The graphics look quite spectacular on my 46" HDTV. But the game play is right. So much so that there's a whole gaggle of custom rules you can put into play. Things such as "Land on Go, get double pay", "All tax goes into pile which is won by landing on Free Parking", Number of houses/hotels, mortgage rate, etc. The game play is pretty darned customizable, so that's a plus. There is a wide range of board themes. There's the obvious standard one, a future theme, a World Board, a Jungle Board, even food themes like chocolate and cheese. Each of these themes have appropriately named properties too (things like "Polar Bear Mountain" and "Blizzard Plains" for an ice themed board). There is a very strong variety of play here without changing the basic game at all. And that is just in standard mode.

There is another mode called "Richest" Edition, where you play with some new rules. One of which is no money. Richest uses no money at all when you owe someone money, you have to give or take properties. When I first played it, I thought it was going to stink the formula is changed around a lot, but I have to say, I really ended up enjoying it. The lack of money gave the game a rather different, and very enjoyable feel to me. There are also mini games in between rounds in the "Richest" mode to play which are loosely based on certain aspects of Monopoly. The mini games are kind of hit or miss depending on which one you get (there's about a dozen different ones, including one bizarre one where you have to take X-Rays of the Pennybags character). But I do have to say I really took to the Richest Edition variant of game play. It's notably shorter than regular games of Monopoly, which is one thing to take into account.

So I was really quite enjoying this game, which brings me to the strongest negative to this title. THERE IS NO SORT OF MULTIPLAYER OVER XBOX LIVE! THIS IS A FAILURE OF EPIC PROPORTIONS! How a game like Monopoly could be created without any sort of online play in 2008 is beyond me. It's not like this a Gears of War game or a Halo 3 where you have to push massive amounts of bits up and down an Internet connection. It's Monopoly. I cannot fathom why there was no Xbox Live play here it just boggles my mind that I cannot do this. This is such a major drawback, I can see it preventing a lot of people from buying the game. Yeah, there's multiplayer locally. You can play up to four people here on the same console. But to be honest, if I have four people in my living room, I'm going to play the real board game version. I might have been inclined to give this game five stars in my review, but the lack of Xbox Live play takes it down to three. It makes me think this omission is why the game ha a list price of $39 instead of the $59 most Xbox 360 games have.

Still, my feelings on lack of Xbox LIVE play aside, this is a very good representation of Monopoly. If you are big time into Monopoly, and always wanted to play but had nobody to do it with, this can work for you. It is a very good game of Monopoly, and the new modes bring a fresh flavor to a game that most of us know pretty darned well.

I wrote this review on the Xbox 360 version. It is also out on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, as well as the Wii. I do not know the multiplayer situation on those, but if they can play online, and the 360 version cannot, I'll be even more irritated at that.

I bought this at Best Buy for $. Very enjoyable game. The narration can be annoying and the controls have some faults but I really like the game. I like the different boards you can unlock and the shortened Richest version. This game is eating up a lot of my free time!

A really poorly designed game with major issues:

1. No way to opt out of the constant comments from the "moderator".

2. Must play with 4 players (Total of human and computer players.)

3. Computer will make idiotic deals with other computer players to establish monopolies early in the game.

4. Interface designed poorly. Defaults to "Manage properties" instead of "next turn", requiring extra work. You end up pressing wrong button consistently, which takes forever to load.

5. Increasing difficulty of computer players results in same idiotic gameplay and cheating, with the main difference being that they'll land on your properties less. (Cheating dice.)

Don't waste your money. You'll be disappointed.

First of all, I'll just state that I'm reviewing this based on the Xbox 360 version. I preordered FGN3 based on my enjoyment of FGN1 and downloading all of the games that didn't come on the disc, and I loved them all. But for Family Game Night 3 ("FGN3" from here on), if you loved all the previous games, you'll be disappointed with all five of these. Why? The previous ones were faithful reproductions of the games they were named after, and all of them added *options* to switch up the rules/game settings in case you wanted something a little bit different. Battleship, Yahtzee, Connect 4, etc., were all extremely fun to play alone or with friends. The games included in FGN3 are all unfortunately very disappointing, and none are faithful to the games they were based off of. Allow me to explain...

Twister: 0/10 -

The very worst of the bunch. It has *nothing* to do with the actual game Twister, and they merely decided to use the brand's name to increase sales. I was of course very confused and interested for how they could creatively transfer Twister to a video game. I imagined, maybe you'd get some crazy finger-twisting moves like "left thumb X button, right pinky left trigger", and so on, until a player failed to do whatever the game requested. Could you cheat at such a game? Sure, but I really think it could be a fun idea with a few friends who are actually playing by the rules. But instead, they didn't even attempt to make the game Twister-like.

You start by choosing a song, there are two songs to choose from in each category (Pop, Disco, Funk). Then, you'll see a button sequence come up that you're supposed to repeat. "A X B", then you hit "A X B" in rhythm of the music. Then you get a four-button sequence like "B B X Y", then five, then six, then the game is over. For anyone who has played a video game before in their life, these button sequences are all very easy and you'll get a perfect score every game, making any competition completely dull and end up in a tie.

Mousetrap: 0/10 -

Whether you're playing this with a friend or a computer player, the game is ultra tedious. In the real game, 90% of the fun of this game comes purely from building and setting off the mousetrap. The real mechanics of the gameplay were never very fun to begin with, so when you just watch a virtual mousetrap being made and set off, you take away the fun part of the game and the game you are left with is merely "roll the die, hope you don't land on the mousetrap." There is no depth to it. But the real tragedy of this game that made me give it a zero out of ten? Each time you "build" part of the trap, you have to take a two minute detour from the real game and play a super lame mini game. In the mini game, you try to build a network of pipes to route a ball through. How well you do determines how many trap pieces get placed on the board. This mini game is where you'll spend about 80% of total gameplay in Mousetrap, which is why I say this game is tedious. The only positive thing I can say about this game is I like the sneaky, mouse-like music.

The Game of Life: 6/10 -

This is one of the only reasons to buy FGN3. Though boring with computer players, the game can be fun to play with a friend. Unfortunately, as with all games in FGN3, this one also does not match the real-life board game. It's a lot closer than the others, but there are quite a few features thrown in that greatly hinder the game's enjoyment. For example, there are game spaces you can land on that let you sue another player for up to $100,000. The person getting sued has to waggle the control stick back and forth for like 20 seconds to argue his case to the "judge". The faster you do it, the more your bar gets filled up which indicates how successfully you're arguing. Even if you max out the bar, you still end up paying the other player like $15,000. There are many examples of additions like this that add nothing to the game other than being annoying. Every time a player gets married, you have to take a 5 minute detour from the game to play the "Twister" mini game (yes, the one I reviewed above). Again, another "feature" that slows down the game and is ultimately just annoying to wait for. Even if the player gets zero points on this Twister mini-game, you still have to pay them a $5,000 wedding gift ($15,000 for max ponits). It's game mechanics like that which make the already-boring mini-games even more pointless, because you feel like your score on the mini-game has such an immaterial impact on the game as a whole that you'd rather just skip it. Ignoring all the annoyances that were tacked-on to the original game, it's still fun to try fighting over the best careers, salaries, and houses and seeing who can amass more money over the course of their "Life".

Clue: 6/10 -

Again, the basic idea of the original game is here (find who the murder is, which room it happened in, and with what weapon), but the core of the game is significantly altered in a negative way. The way in which you play this game as opposed to the traditional Clue game, is by landing on question mark squares across the hallways of the Clue mansion. There really is no reason to even enter any of the rooms (you can, but it's strategically a bad idea with how the game is structured). When you land on a question mark square, you'll get "rumor points". Either it will just give you 1-3 points and end your turn, or it will make you play another (boring) mini-game to win from 1 to 3 points. Each time you get to six rumor points, you can make a mock-accusation and find out if any of your guesses for person, place, and weapon were correct. When you get them all right, you can make an official accusation in the poolroom to end the game. So this game has the potential to be sorta fun with a friend, but not half as fun as the real game, and you'll feel like you're missing the point of the game by only going around seeking question mark squares to land on.

Yahtzee Hands Down: 4/10 -

Card version of Yahtzee, only much less fun. You are forced to play with four players always, meaning you'll probably be with some lame computer players, because you'll have a hard time finding four human beings in the same room at the same time who are all going to be willing to play this with you. Basically, you get five cards (instead of using dice) and just try to get whatever the middle of the gameboard says to get. So if it says, "Four of a kind" you keep choosing cards to discard and redraw them each turn until someone gets four of a kind. But there is a time limit before the objective changes. So almost every time a Yahtzee card shows up, you'll have a lot of players get to 3 or 4 of a kind until the Yahtzee card expires then asks you to get a run of 4 instead. Frustrating.

As with previous FGN games, each game has a "remix" mode. I'll briefly go over each one.

Twister: Still the same exact boring game, don't bother with either version of this one.

Mousetrap: Although still not that fun, remix version is much better than the standard mode for this game, and you'll avoid the horribly tedious minigames that plagues the other version. The gameboard and layout are completely different. It's almost a whole new game.

Life: Instead of getting money, you'll get to move forward a certain amount spaces that corresponds with how much money you *would have* gotten in the standard version. The farthest person on the game board wins, instead of the person with the most money (there is no money at all in this version). Less fun that standard mode.

Clue: You'll have the same dice to see how far to move with each turn, but you'll also get to roll another die which does some dramatic things to the game to keep it interesting. Example: Someone gets killed by the murderer (removing that character from accusations of course), or getting to lock someone in a room for a turn. This mode can be fun, I'd play it about equally as much as the standard mode.

Yahtzee: Just alters the speed and flow of the game a bit, but neither mode for this game are really that fun anyway.

Conclusion -

Family Game Night 3 is a big disappointment if you loved any of the previous Family Game Night releases. It suffers from too dramatically altering the original gameplay of each game, with no options to play a more faithful remake of the original. If you're looking for a good casual/family game, I would highly recommend the original Family Game Night if you don't already have it. Otherwise, this one might be worth it when it hits the clearance bin in a few months (for under $20).

I have got all the Family Game Night games from XBL and have enjoyed most of them so this was a must. I had about 7 adults having a blast with Life. Clue was a little tricky at first but a lot of fun. The Remix is the best way to play. Twister was a little disappointing. It's more of a DDR type of game then Twister. Mouse Trap was a blast playing with 4. Remix was ok but original is better. Yahtzee hands Down is frustrating but a good frustrating if that makes sense. Overall at a $40 price its worth picking up if you're a fan of the series. Plus each game has a remix mode and some are really better then the original.

Life 8/10

Clue 9/10

Mouse trap 7/10

Yahtzee Hands Down 7/10

Best Deals for Hasbro Family Game Night 3 - Xbox 360

I bought Family Game Night 3 to play with my wife. We tried all the included games and our favorite is The Yahtzee card game. The rest of the games are ok to play every once in a while, but not as fun as Yahtzee. The big let down of the game is the requirement to have a controller for each player. If you have more than 4 people in your family then someone is going to have to sit out.

Honest reviews on Hasbro Family Game Night 3 - Xbox 360

The only games of value are Clue and Life, otherwise the other three are not fun or enjoyable. You can't just start Yahtzee hands down and play straight away. The game makes you feel like you're rushed. Twister is not a game that translates well as a video game at all. Not worth playing at all. Mouse trap is very repetitive and just seems like there's no skill at all to play. Save your time and money and look elsewhere for a fun family game.

As far as value goes, this is superb. These games are really worth so much more than other games on the market as far as production value and depth go. They are absolutely timeless. Content-wise, this is certainly five stars.

You may be interested to know about this set however...

The games are not individually shrink wrapped. In fact, the shrink wrap didn't even cover the whole box set and there's an opening on the side which the games "bindings" are. I could almost slip out the games without messing with the shrink wrap at all.

Also, the first game is on a ps1 disc and you need a ps1 memory card or ps3 to save like A. Pintor said. "Metal Gear Solid" is still on 2 discs so the set is 4 discs total.

All the discs are black with white font. So they match as a set but look different than the original released version discs.

Each game has a pretty meaty manual as well that match the front and back of their respective game case.

yup, if you're missing just one game in this series, its worth picking up the set.

The Metal Gear Solid Essential Collection is a great way to play all that has come before the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4 is released.

I have heard alot of griping because the second disc from Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence is NOT included. Though I was a bit peeved about this at first, I do own an original copy of Subsistence which included the original versions of Metal Gear 1 and 2 from the Japanese MSX and I can understand Konami's decision in this regard.

The main draw of the 2nd disc of Persistence was Metal Gear Online. The serves have long been shut down and it would be pointless to release a game you can't even play any longer.

I've also heard much griping about Metal Gear Solid (1) being on two CD-ROM discs instead of a DVD-ROM. Use some logic here folks: Konami is giving you Three games for under $30. The original Metal Gear Solid is quite expensive and/or hard to find anymore. Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance is rather pricey for the PS2 version (the inferior Xbox version is fairly easy to find cheap). And even though the Persistence disc (disc 2) of Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence is not included, all the changes made to the game (camera angles, etc.) ARE included on the disc.

For those new to the series or wanting to pick up the games again since they no longer have them, $10 a piece is pretty damn cheap! For those collector's out there like me, you are getting all three games with beautiful new artwork, Metal Gear Solid in a very nice DVD amaray-style case (yes!) and a cool slipcase to house it all.

If you are playing Metal Gear Solid (one) on a PS2, you will need a PSOne memory card as per usual with all PSOne games. It works just fine on a PS3 (any model) and you can set up a virtual memory card.

If you are playing Metal Gear Solid 2 on a PS2, you are good to go. If you are planning on playing it on a PS3, make sure you have either the 20, 60 or 80-gig models as the 40-gig model isn't backwards compatible.

If you are playing Metal Gear Solid 3 on a PS2, you are good to go as well. Again, you have to have a 20, 60 or 80-gig PS3 model (backwards compatible with PS2 software) to play it on the PS3.

I highly recommend this series to anyone. At $30, it's a bargain price. I would also recommend the Devil May Cry collection for $30 and the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy for $30. Tremendous deals, you are getting NINE games that originally cost over $450 for less than $90 now. That's an 80% discount folks!

I have been a fan of the MGS series since I bought a Playstation 2 seven years ago. I applaud Konami for releasing this box set. This presents newbies the chance to catch up with the story just in time for the PS3 release of Metal Gear Solid 4. For $30 this is a steal. All 3 games are well worth the price of admission. You simply can't go wrong with this deal.

Honest reviews on Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection

What can I say? This is a collection of three of the finest video games ever created. If you've never played them, this is a great and inexpensive way to start. I guarantee, by the time you're halfway done with Metal Gear Solid 2, you'll be hooked like nothing you've ever experienced!

My only qualm with this box set is the decision to leave out disc 2 of the Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence set. This second disc contains the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for the MSX system. You'd think that by "Essential Collection", that would include the two games that started it all!

However, the other games are presented in their original state and they are incredible. Well worth it!

I recently acquired this collection a few hours ago at Gamestop, and as a long time MGS fan I've played and beaten all the games in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, including "Twin Snakes" on the GC. With that said, after beating the games I sold them. But never bought the later releases such as "MGS2:Substance" and "MGS3:Subsistence", so just finding out that this collection was coming out by Konami has made me ecstatic to play these great games again and I was guaranteed that I'd get my money's worth.

I haven't played MGS3 in 3 years, since the day it was released in '04, and same with MGS1 and 2 which was a long time ago. They're still the great games I've remembered them to be. If you've kept up in the gaming world, you've heard critical acclaim of these 3 stellar games, and if this is your first time playing MGS and want to backtrack from MGS1 to keep up with the story to follow the upcoming MGS4 installment, then this is a no-brainer to BUY THIS!

There are a few things I dislike about this package and didn't know why in the heck Konami couldn't include. Like another reviewer has said, the MGS3: Subsistence is an incomplete package without the second disc and why couldn't they fix the memory card issue on MGS1? Not only can't we save games if we don't have a original PS1 memory card, but you literally can't find these in stores anymore! Unless you go on eBay. But if you own a PS3 or have a PS1 Memory Card already this just proves you're lucky. With that said, this makes this Essential Collection a bit flawed.

Pros:

All three MGS's in one package at a great price.

Two of them being the "Director's Cut"

The original MGS on original 'black disc' PSone discs. A rarity to see since they haven't made these in a while.

Cons:

MGS1 not save compatible with a PS2 Memory Card.

The second disc for MGS3:Subsistence is missing.

Review of Sonic The Hedgehog 2

Sonic The Hedgehog 2

When the original Sonic sped onto shelves, it boosted popularity of the Sega Genesis, and for good reason: It was clearly one to show off the system's capabilities, as well as being freakishly fun. Oh, and let's not forget the speed you were rewarded with after some platforming. Sonic 2 here offers that same fun......Except there are even more elements in this game that just make it all the more better!

The levels are more creative and colorful, and some are just incredibly unique (Gamblin' at the Casino Night Zone, anyone?). The levels contrast from each other in even more ways than they do in Sonic 1, such as the casino's slots and pinball stuff, Chemical Plant's rising "pink water", Aquatic Ruin's underwater and on-land layers, etc. So, with all of these things going on, being added onto the traditional and already-fun Sonic gameplay, it makes for an overall AWESOME experience.

One major inclusion is Tails. As Sonic's sidekick, Tails....um...Well, he never really catches up. BUT, he CAN be controlled with a second controller. As such, he can help defeat bosses without risking the loss of Rings (Y'know They are to Sonic as coins are to Mario), and he can also help Sonic collect Rings in the Special Stages for collecting one of the 7 Chaos Emeralds...You are so much better off with a friend there. Trust me.

However, Tails being controlled by another player isn't the highlight for 2-Player goodness. That highlight is the game's Versus mode. Sonic and Tails compete in 3 zones and the Special Stages! Rather than just simply racing through, though, the game tallies up who finishes the level first, and how many Rings or item boxes they hit, as well as their overall score. So if you just ran through a level, the other player has time to build up his/her score to Win instead of you!

Overall, this is one heck of a Sonic game. Whatever you do, do not miss out on it.

The discription is misleading. Its states the game supports 2 player online play, but its only VERSUS MODE thats available online. CO-OP IS NOT SUPPORTED through xbox live, which was the sole reason i purchased a copy for a myself and friend. Both Amazon and Xbox need to include this in their discription of the game. I hope this review is helpful.

Review of Star Wars - Episode I - Racer

This fast paced thrill ride is an adventure for young and old alike. It is the most popular Nintento 64 video game in our home. The tournament style races allows a player to race and upgrade oveer twenty different vehicles to race on several race courses on 8 different worlds. The two player mode allows our family to race each other, increasing the bragging rights from intergalactic racing to our own home as to who is the best racer. To instructions are outlined clearly, and the joystick/button controls are logical. This simulation creates a fell like you are flying 3 feet off the ground against other opponents, but also makes the time fly by while you are piloting your pod to victory. Responsiveness of the video simulation is excellent, which makes this game a winner in our home. Try it and you will experience the trill of being an intergalactic pod racer for yourself.

MLB 2K13 review

I have played the game for a bit now and to me one of the biggest weaknesses of the game is the graphics. The players just dont look as nice as others in the sport videao game arena. Although they have made some improvements from the previous years MLB games the graphics still look poorly done and could use some work. The modeling of the players seems out of place to the rest of the game. For the most part, the gameplay is pretty good, pitching and fielding work smoothly and seem to perform the way it should. The weakness seem to be in how the ball performs when it is hit. It doesnt appear to be rendered accurately at times.

MLB 2K13 really seems add very little over MLB 2K12 and doesnt really make you think there is something reinvented here. There really arent any major difference besides the roster updates and improving the functionality of some of the gameplay.

Maybe for those that are hardcore MLB2K fans, there is something for you but for 60 bucks just for some minor upgrades, I am not so sure. Is it worth shelling 60 bucks to get the latest version.... well not unless you just have to have the latest version.

NBA 2K13 review

Hardcore hoops fans and anyone else who even casually picks up the odd sports game should play NBA 2K13. This version continues to keep the bar high, enhancing the realism of and adding a superb new control scheme to this excellent recreation of pro basketball. Pace, graphics, animations, sound effects, and commentary are all so dead on that you feel like you've walked onto the court at Staples Center or Madison Square Garden. Only a few issues with the interface and the absence of controller tutorials, along with ridiculously overblown production values from Jay Z, get between you and the full appreciation of what looks, sounds, and feels like the real thing.

The good stuff:

Enhanced realism and a great new control setup make NBA 2K13 a fantastic recreation of pro hoops.

Excellent game flow emulates the real thing

New right-stick controls make slick moves easy to pull off

Signature skills enhance player depth

TV-realistic graphics and animations

Lively, varied play-by-play

The bad:

Confusing interface

Too much of Jay-Z

With this package, you get two decent games that are not without flaws but enjoyable to play at a discounted price.

I got this because it was a good price but I really enjoy playing NBA. That may be the best made sports game overall out of any: Madden, NCAA, the Show, etc. The only problem is the amount of JayZ's noise that he calls music. It gets annoying after awhile. The presentation is really great. MLB is not quite as good but is a fun baseball game to play.
