Rogue Legacy Reviews

Rogue Legacy

This game is wonderful in so many ways. The ever-changing castle that you must fight through each time you die. The different choices of characters you get to select from on each play through is varied enough that they don't get tiresome. You can grind for gold to upgrade your hero as well as seek out loot for upgrades to your weapons and armor (all of which change the appearance of your character).

At first the game seems to be a simple jump-and-slash platformer. But as you level up your highly-varied skill tree and armor, you realize the game mechanics are much deeper. This game is often referred to as one of those MetroidVania games, which is an apt description. You can openly explore the castle, but you may quickly find out which areas are too tough for you until you gain more experience and loot. The enemies are varied for each section of the castle, and the bosses are challenging enough without being 'cheap'.

The best and most innovative part about this game is the fact that when you die (and you will die often) you return as one of your heirs. Each 'hero' has their own set of attributes. Some are bald, gay, dwarfs, dyslexic, OCD, etc. While some attributes are benign, others give you certain perks or hindrances. Eventually you will come to see which ones suit you best, but going through them is quite amusing.

I have not had this much fun with a platformer in years and I highly recommend you check out this hidden gem.

It's definitely a good game, with solid platforming. I guess for me though, is that I just didn't buy into the hype surrounding this game and for good reason. There are plenty of issues with this game, first and foremost is the feel of the controls though. Controls were good, but felt just a little sloppy, not nearly as tight as say a Super Meat Boy or a Shovel Knight. There was also the issue of the difficulty, it just didn't feel right and I'm a very experienced platform gamer and had some major issues at times getting through certain areas. Overall it's good, just not as great as some other games in this genre. Definitely give it a go if you're into Metroidvania-type games.

I heard about this game in an episode of Extra Creditz, and I went out and bought it immediately. I was not disappointed. It has fun hack and slash gameplay and is a literally endless supply of fun! If the idea of a 2D platformer with randomly generated rooms interests you, go and buy this game. If it doesn't interest you . . . I . . . I'm sorry, I can't help you with that. Maybe you should speak to your therapist about it.

This bundle is excellent. Got it at a great price here through amazon. Microsoft should not call this a special edition though, because it is of no such. So the bundle is a great buy for anyone, whether you are a loyal xbox owner or a new owner this is the one to go with. Microsoft's new JASPER models are freakin amazing! Smaller power brick, quieter/cooler, much cooler, system. Played for five hours the other day and the xbox was just warm not on fire. Overall I love this bundle. Great buy, recommended for everyone.

Don't get me wrong, PS3 has nice exclusives, but I was very tempted to get a XBOX 360, and I finally did. I was trying to decide between this and the XBOX FFXIII bundle, but I already had the FFXIII game for PS3 so I went with this one.

Well, definitely the XBOX has some nice features and exclusives that I couldn't get with the PS3. I ordered a bunch of XBOX 360 exclusives with this bundle and I am glad I did. I am starting Forza 2 and Fable II right now and I realize how much fun I was missing. The feel of the XBOX controls is also much better than the PS3 controls.

Wouldn't say that one console is better than the other. Both of them have cool features. Now that I own both, I have the best of two worlds.

Shipping was free and fast through Amazon. It arrived on the estimated delivery date. Very pleased so far. Got the TS intercooler and it works like a charm!

I was a little hesitant on purchasing this, but I'm really glad I did. It works perfectly and I've not had one issue using it while playing a ton of COD: Ghosts. The only thing that I'll mention is that this unit like the older models doesn't have WiFi built in. You'll need to buy an adapter. I'm happy with it though and can't complain.

I purchased this console with the intent to start a xbox360 relationship. It work for awhile at the expense of scratching up game disc, sounding like it could come apart at any moment with all the noise coming from the tray.Well eventually it died so that was the end of that relationship.

With all the other launch characters, they have the ability to scale walls, climb ladders, fight, shoot, fly helicopters, ride elephants, ride horses, etc. You get the point. Mater? Not so much. Mater is stuck to the ground. He can't even properly "fight" off the generated bad guys in the Toy Box mode. Not owning the Cars Playset yet, I knew having Mater might be sketchy with just his solo Adventure and Toy Box mode to play in.

My daughter still thinks he's a hoot, but I noticed rather quickly how she gravitates towards any of the others because of their ability to, well, be fun. I don't even like to play Mater because he can almost too easily get stuck on walls and surrounding scenery.

So, in all, he's Okay. Not great. His statue is awesome and he has a good weight to him. But you give up rather quickly when playing with him. We just want to fly a helo sometimes and he can't do it.

Great fun for the kids and us that are still kids at heart. Characters are well built and have had no issues with using the pieces to play the games or inside the toy box. Would highly recommend watching a few videos about the toy box…once you get the hang of it you can create some incredible games and challenges yourself or download toy boxes shared by other players or the developers!!

Metal Slug Anthology - Nintendo Wii Review

Metal Slug Anthology - Nintendo Wii
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Rather than write a long review about Metal Slug Anthology for the Nintendo Wii. I decided to give a simple pros and cons review. I hope this review is easy for you to read and understand.

Pro.

* 7 Metal Slugs games in one (Metal Slug 1, 2, X, 3, 4, 5, 6).

* Metal Slugs fans finally get a chance to play Metal Slugs 6 (The arcade game was available to play in Japan but not here in the USA).

* 6 unique, odd, and interesting ways to play Metal Slug Anthology for the Nintendo Wii including the uses of the Nintendo GameCube Controller.

* You can play Metal Slug Anthology anytime you want so no more bringing a butt load of quarters to the arcade plus if you prefer a real challenge you can turn off the Unlimited Continue options and go for the Limited Continues option. (Easy-30 Credits, Normal-20 Credits, and finally Hard-10 Credits. Good luck for those who choose hard mode.)

* Rapid Fire Mode-No more button mashing (You can turn this feature off if you like in options menu or the pause menu.)

With all the good things I just wrote about Metal Slug Anthology for the Nintendo Wii now come the bad things.

Con.

* Annoying loading time between levels. (Don't worry the loading time only last for about a few seconds)

* Out of the 6 ways to play Metal Slug Anthology only 3 seem useful. The other 3 seem useless. (Nunchuk mode should be dubbed lazy mode, Tilt Wii Remote mode and Arcade mode are very difficult and almost impossible to play because you have to hold the Wii Remote up or on it side and tilt the Wii Remote Up, Down, Left, and Right.)

* Depending on which way you play Metal Slug Anthology (not counting the GameCube Controller option.) you have to flick the controller to throw grenades. (which can be a pain sometimes)

* Metal Slug Anthology won't support the Wii Classics Controller. (Come on Nintendo and SNK. A game like this has Classics Controller writing all over it.)

* If you are using the Wii Remote or Nunchuk and you have the Rapid Fire Mode on be very careful because if you are in any slug vehicles and you push the jump button while rapid fire mode is on the game will think you activated the metal slug attack thus you lose your slug vehicles easily especially when you are in a tight spot. ( In case if you are wondering the metal slug attack happen when you push the jump & fire button and the same time thus killing any enemies and enemies vehicles along the way.)

Overall I still recommend Metal Slug Anthology to anyone. Especially those who are looking for some good old 2-D shooter games.

The Metal Slug games are arcade classics. Giving classic shooters such as Contra a run for their money, Metal Slug truly made shooters a completely different experience. These arcade classics are now available in an anthology package. The games include Metal Slug 1-5, Metal Slug X and the never before officially released Metal Slug 6.

When you begin the game you have all the Metal Slug games from the get go. So you don't have to unlock any of the games, they're all right there from the get go. It's fun to play these games for two reasons. One, it's nice to see just how each game changes from one to the next. The series really evolves as time goes on. Also, they're really tough games that even the most experienced of gamers will have trouble with.

Each game has a unique art style going for it. Each level in every game is literally littered with thousands of enemies and troops. You'll be able to get a hold of weapons like a flamethrower or shotgun to thwart your enemies. You'll also be able to throw grenades. The challenge in these games don't let up, though. It's a good thing that you can give yourself infinite continues. You'll certainly need them. The look and feel of these games hasn't really changed much. It's all still there. The blood, the explosions, the tough bosses. They're perfect emulations.

Part of the excitement with the Metal Slug Anthology, specifically for the Wii, is the immense number of control set ups you can have. There's the standard classic set up which involves you holding your wii remote horizontally (as if you were playing Excitetruck or a Classic NES title from the virtual console) and mowing through your enemies in a classic fashion. You'll flick the remote to use grenades. Another style involves you using the wii remote as a joystick. Another is the basic nunchuck for movement/wii remote to activate actions. There's even a control mode for you to use just the nunchuck. Another control mode involves you tilting your remote to do certain actions. Finally, the Gamecube controller itself can be used to play these games.

All these control set ups seem fantastic, but only two of them are really all that comforting. The wii remote being used like an NES controller and the Gamecube controller setup. Other than that, most of these controls mode are a pain. Also, it's a shame that the classic controller isn't one of the controller setups at all. Metal Slug Anthology is a classic game, yet it doesn't utilize the classic controller at all.

The extras are even more mundane. As you complete games you'll unlock some neat artwork for the art gallery, and some interviews but that's about it. Nothing really outside of that. The interviews aren't spectacular at all. No audio or video to speak of. Just text on your screen for you to read. While the art is nice, it seemed that far more extras could've been included.

To give credit to the Metal Slug Anthology, however, you are getting seven games for a relatively cheap price. To make it even more worthwhile all seven games are actually good, unlike some anthologies where there's usually one black sheep. In the Metal Slug Anthology there is no "blacksheep" in the flock, they're all marvelous games. It's just sad that there weren't enough extras to be included here, and that the majority of the six control schemes are just worthless.

They're fantastic games, but they could've done more with the package.

The Good

+For seven games, the price tag is just right

+All seven games are good games

+Intense, fast, and exhilarating gameplay

+Quite a challenge

The Bad

-What extras there are lack; there could've been more extras

-Of the six control schemes, only two of them seem particularly useful

-Of the six control schemes, the classic controller isn't one of them

Best Deals for Metal Slug Anthology - Nintendo Wii

Metal Slug Anthology provides Metal Slugs 1, 2, X, 3, 4, 5 and 6 all in one package. There are a few extras as well, including artwork and text interviews.

This includes every Metal Slug game made, and includes the brand new, never seen Metal Slug 6. In Metal Slug 6, the enemies of the old games join forces with you against a new, nasty enemy. You also get new characters the Ikari Warriors Clark and Ralf from the Kingdom Fighter game.

There are varying levels of difficulty, and also a variety of controller setups to choose from. For example, in one mode you hold the Wii controller sideways, use the buttons to move and fire, but have to actually make a throwing motion with your hand to launch a grenade. Be sure to experiment with all of the different controller styles for a little while to figure out which one best suits your style. It's going to be an adjustment no matter which one you go with, compared with the old style standard controller with lots of button pressing. Yes, it'll be annoying at first. Just tough it out through that period and soon it'll start to seem second nature to do the movements.

The graphics are typical Metal Slug, which means they're not incredibly detailed close-ups of human style faces they are just flying bullets, scrolling landscapes and lots of explosions. Really, you don't play Metal Slug to ogle at finely detailed castles and flowing capes. You play it to blast away thousands of bullets at a never ending stream of enemies, alone or with a friend. These are the types of games where you have a buddy over for the afternoon, sit down for a few hours with a bowl of popcorn and rip through an entire game for fun. It's mindless, it's relaxing, and it's satisfying to win the game.

If you're a fan of the previous games, it's of course great fun to play Metal Slug 6, with its all new enemies, storyline, and levels. If you've memorized all the previous games and levels, this gives you a new challenge to take on. If you've not played the others before, you can catch up on the entire franchise all on one game disc. It's pretty amazing that you can get seven full different games on one disc, for one price.

There's still no speech, but they do provide cut scenes to give you a sense of the story that is unfolding. Easy mode gives unlimited machine gun fire but not as many reward tokens graduate up to harder mode to get the standard pistol fire as your default and to unlock secrets more quickly.

It's a little frustrating when you take on the enemies, because they do not flash to show you if you're hitting an area that can actually take damage. Still, that's a minor complaint in a game this fun. Highly recommended for old school side scrolling fans!

Honest reviews on Metal Slug Anthology - Nintendo Wii

The Metal Slug arcade machines are notorious for being unbelievably hard. It's not uncommon to find yourself feeding well over $10 into a machine just to finish the game. Multiply that by 7 and you might come close to even $100 if you are playing with a partner.

Instead, invest your dough in the Metal Slug Anthology. The games are perfect arcade emulations and you get infinite continues. They are still very, very hard and you'll never finish a single level with all of your stats intact, but it's a fun ride nonetheless. Some of the games can be a bit samey and you'll finish them all in about an hour. But for chaotic, button-bashing mayhem with loads of explosions and firepower, you can't go wrong with Metal Slug.

Classic games and motion control do not mix.

I bought the Wii version of the MSA as it was cheaper than the PS2 version. I figured since there was a GC controller option, I could hook up my PS2 controller via my controller adapter. I was disappointed to find out the D-Pad does not work. And it wasn't because the adapter isn't compatible since I also tried hooking up a GC controller and using the D-Pad on that, and it turns out that the D-Pad is just not activated in GC controller mode. So the only way to play with a D-Pad is with the Wiimote, which would've been fine, except you have to shake it to throw a grenade. They didn't even give the option for the classic controller. I like using motion controls on Wii games meant for motion control. I like thumbsticks for 3D games. For classic 2D gaming, however, I prefer to keep the controls classic; with good ol'-fashioned D-Pad and buttons.

I highly recommend Metal Slug Anthology; just not on the Wii.

Review of Sonic The Hedgehog 2

Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
When the original Sonic sped onto shelves, it boosted popularity of the Sega Genesis, and for good reason: It was clearly one to show off the system's capabilities, as well as being freakishly fun. Oh, and let's not forget the speed you were rewarded with after some platforming. Sonic 2 here offers that same fun......Except there are even more elements in this game that just make it all the more better!

The levels are more creative and colorful, and some are just incredibly unique (Gamblin' at the Casino Night Zone, anyone?). The levels contrast from each other in even more ways than they do in Sonic 1, such as the casino's slots and pinball stuff, Chemical Plant's rising "pink water", Aquatic Ruin's underwater and on-land layers, etc. So, with all of these things going on, being added onto the traditional and already-fun Sonic gameplay, it makes for an overall AWESOME experience.

One major inclusion is Tails. As Sonic's sidekick, Tails....um...Well, he never really catches up. BUT, he CAN be controlled with a second controller. As such, he can help defeat bosses without risking the loss of Rings (Y'know They are to Sonic as coins are to Mario), and he can also help Sonic collect Rings in the Special Stages for collecting one of the 7 Chaos Emeralds...You are so much better off with a friend there. Trust me.

However, Tails being controlled by another player isn't the highlight for 2-Player goodness. That highlight is the game's Versus mode. Sonic and Tails compete in 3 zones and the Special Stages! Rather than just simply racing through, though, the game tallies up who finishes the level first, and how many Rings or item boxes they hit, as well as their overall score. So if you just ran through a level, the other player has time to build up his/her score to Win instead of you!

Overall, this is one heck of a Sonic game. Whatever you do, do not miss out on it.

The discription is misleading. Its states the game supports 2 player online play, but its only VERSUS MODE thats available online. CO-OP IS NOT SUPPORTED through xbox live, which was the sole reason i purchased a copy for a myself and friend. Both Amazon and Xbox need to include this in their discription of the game. I bought this as a gift for my sweetheart who adores the Indianapolis Colts (even after their 2011 season LOL). She had purchased a Steelers faceplate for me for Christmas the previous year and it was just too cool. What a fun addition to your Xbox play. The cover snaps on securely in fact it was a little tricky removing it when we upgraded to the thinner Xbox 360 and needed to transfer the cover over to the new controller. Now she has her designated controller and I have mine. Super cool!

Kinectimals is structured and directed more to a younger audience. My 5 year old daughter is addicted! The game is however quite inviting to the older generation, especially when I see how much my kid was enjoying her new pet!

Kinectimals isn't too advance in the form of a Sims game, but you do get to teach your pet several tricks (i believe there is like 10). You teach your pet to do tricks by performing them yourself, and after he/she has learned the trick you can either perform the trick so your kinectimals will mimic you or you can just give voice commands. Also, you have to show your pet love--to do this you will take care of it by petting it, congratulating it, brushing it, playing fetch or with other toys, buying accessories for it, and more! All these actions help build up a type of discovery meter, the more you do with your pet the more the discovery meter builds up and in turn the more of the map/island you discover. The more you discover, the more you unlock!

There isn't much of an actual storyline, except for the introduction you get on how everything came about and how the previous pet owner (some pirate/captain) left many years ago. Overall, your main objective is to eventually discover the whole island and defeat mini games on the way. You can also, use a magnifying glass to scope out your surroundings in the meantime to look for buried hidden treasures.

The mini games are creative and fun but a little bit repetitive. They utilize the same games but dress them up differently so they appear different. "Bumble" the guide of the game, a half bee/half mouse looking animal, flies around talking and sometimes I found to be quite annoying. There is a marketplace within furr town which you can purchase items from all the discovery points you receive. The items sold there can be used to decorate the interior of your home, accessorize your pet, etc etc etc.

My daughter and I are still discovering the island and the game for now, but I will post more as more comes. I believe this is a great game and great buy if you have a child in the age range of 5 15. But, if you are just an adult looking for a Kinect game for yourself, you will find yourself bored with the title quicker then a child would be. I only played a few times, and don't care to play to much more except for letting my daughter play.

*For people who are wondering if you can buy the plush animals and use them over multiple gamertags--well you can! The scan card on the plush animal isn't unique in any way and can be scanned multiple times to any gamertag.

**For people who have pre-order bonus codes for exclusive animals (i.e. the gamestop exclusive red-n-black tiger), after redeeming the code and downloading the content, the game will not let you choose the red-n-black tiger from the start. You must pick any animal, and after you leave the bonding circle to head towards your home...a pop up message will show up in the top left corner of your screen alerting you of a new friend in furr town. That will be your red-n-black tiger.

***For achievement hunters, the achievements on this game are extremely easy to get because this game wasn't made very challenging at all.

I was astounded when Gametrailers gave this game an 8.5 rating and immediately had to pick it up for myself and my son. He is in love with this game and cannot stop talking about his pet Bengal tiger cub in which he affectionately named Patrick. Yes, he watches too much Spongebob.

The visuals are breath-taking; I didn't expect the game to look this polished as a launch title. The gameplay is fun; you go around learning and teaching your pet new tricks while playing mini-games and unlocking new sections of your island. It has some mystery involved, but nothing too advanced that my son can't handle.

I highly recommend this game to ANYONE with children, it's a must have.

Best Deals for Kinectimals

Most video games seem to be made for older kids, but not Kinectimals. My daughter and her friends absolutely love playing this game. In fact I have to ration their playing time because they could play for hours if I let them. The interaction is great and the interface is easy to learn, even for little kids. Definitely glad I decided to purchase this game what surprised me is that I also found it fun to play with my daughter.

Honest reviews on Kinectimals

OkayI am a 29 year old male, and I have no childrenyet I still played through this game. Why?because out of the many Kinect games I had the opportunity to try (I work in the game industry, and have the chance to play a lot of games), this stood out as something creative and appealing in a new way. Sure, virtual pet games are nothing new, but in the case of Kinectimals, the body motion driven interaction really adds something to the concept. Also, the execution and presentation of this game are very nice. I was honestly just refreshed to see a game that was clearly designed for kids, but wasn't rushed or lazy feeling. Oftentimes, games for children tend to be pretty... meh... like, the reasoning is that kids won't know any better; they won't realize that the graphics are mediocre or that the design is bad. But here, you have something that was approached with far more care, and even adults will enjoy it.

The game structure is very simple, and quite forgiving if you only want to 'finish' the story; the only real challenge lies in obtaining a few of the gold medals in the various contests.

Overall, this is a great game for families and kids. It is engaging, entertaining, appealing to look at and listen to, and manages to be fun yet non-violent/aggressive (which is pretty hard to do in game design).

If the idea of this looks good to you already, don't worrygo ahead and pick it up, it is very well done.

If you have a little boy or girl, you can't go wrong with this game. It's probably the best Kinect game next to Dance Central. The game is easy for anyone to jump into. My 7yo learned everything it had to offer in about an hours time. She has never been so addicted to a game before. It gets them off the couch, and is a very active game. Lots of kicking, rolling, running and jumping. Considering it's a launch game, I was very impressed how in depth and how much the player was able to do. Besides the kinect motions itself, what really impressed me was how great this game looks. It's obviously the best looking pet game in existence and kids will fall in love with these furry funny felines as soon as the game starts. It's a good mesh of taking care of your pet and setting off a big adventure with your pet on this tropical island. I myself find myself playing it a little bit and I was amazed how much I enjoyed it.

The only down side with the game is that the controls can be frustrating for little ones and patience is the key. The kicking of the ball and throwing balls and toys at targets can be challenging. But it takes some patience and adjusting to the controls to get it down. The game also has voice recognition for your pet and sometimes it doesn't seem to always respond to your orders or tricks when called out. But overall, it seemed pretty consistent.

This is a must have game if you have the Kinect, and if you have children, it's a no brainer. Just make sure your kids do their homework before they play this one, because they won't want to quit!

(Pros/Cons at the end)

I never played the first Scribblenauts. I recall the buzz it made at E3 2009 with its write-anything, create-anything gameplay, but I just never got around to buying it.

That's a good thing, though, because Super Scribblenauts is the perfect entry into the series for first-time scribblers. With revamped controls, improved physics, and the addition of adjectives, Super Scribblenauts is probably what the first game should have been all along.

The game puts you in the shoes of Maxwell, who must solve puzzles and overcome obstacles with the help of--well, virtually anything you can think of. The crux of Scribblenauts is the notepad, where you can write anything that comes to mind--be it a ladder, a tiger, a gun, a panda, and so on--and see it (usually) come to life in the game world.

This, as you can imagine, opens up a wealth of creative possibilities. One early puzzle in the game tasks you with making a lion go to sleep. A possible solution is to write in "moon," which summons a moon and turns the sky dark, allowing the lion to sleep. Another solution is to summon a tranquilizer gun and shoot the lion with it. You can even write in "sleepy meat" and feed it to the lion, who will become sleepy in turn.

This is where adjectives come into play. From what I've heard about the first game, you could only summon objects, which in itself is a powerful idea. But here, you can give life to the craziest corners of your imagination: a vampiric, purple, striped, floating, friendly panda is not out of the question. Whether that panda will give you any use toward any of the game's 120 levels is another issue, but it's something you can play with endlessly in the game's "sandbox" title screen.

The story levels themselves range from genuinely brainteasing to somewhat uninspired. The aforementioned "sleepy lion" level is an early standout, while another level in which you have to summon specific types of food is merely so-so. The game shines when it encourages you to discover strange solutions, but it falls when the answers are limited to obvious outcomes.

That's why the title screen sandbox is such a gamesaver. When you're itching to stretch your creative muscles, or to test the game's dictionary, you're free to summon all sorts of things and see how they play out in the game's world. You can create, erase, and create all over again to your heart's content. Put Santa Claus on a friendly winged velociraptor, if you wish.

Scribblenauts is flexible in that its levels are all bite-sized affairs, easy for those playing on the go, and yet there's enough of a pull from the core creative gameplay that you can sit for hours and still not get bored. Even so, those 120 levels will go by quickly, so Scribblenauts certainly isn't an epic game. But it's thankfully extended by the option to replay most levels in "advanced" mode, where you have to complete a level three times in a row by using different objects each time. You can re-use the same objects from the very first time you played the level, so really you're coming up with two new solutions, not three, but that probably makes it easier on the brain in some instances. I just wish I could turn off the hint pop-ups in advanced mode--I don't need to be told to do the same objective three times in a row.

Overall, Scribblenauts is a great, fun--and funny!--game. I'm giving it four stars because it stands as an extremely solid title, but a few issues (like only being able to share custom levels with friends) prevent it from the legendary greatness of a five-star game. Even so, this is one of the coolest games for the DS, and it's suitable for all ages. It's even a great title for parents to bond with their children by solving puzzles together and giving suggestions to the youngsters on what to summon. Highly recommended.

Pros:

+ This is a great first point of entry into the series. Since there's no real plot, you can start this game without needing to have played the first Scribblenauts.

+ The achievement-like Merit system is an addictive way to encourage you to try certain things in the game, and Merits can be earned even in the title screen sandbox.

+ Buying costumes for Maxwell is a lot of fun. You can play as a girl, if you want to, even though you're still technically Maxwell in disguise.

+ The game offers purchasable hints if you're really stumped in a level, and these hints will even unlock on their own if you wait long enough.

+ Adjectives. I can't imagine playing Scribblenauts without them!

+ Two different control schemes: stylus only, or the d-pad/buttons. Both schemes are lefty-friendly.

+ The custom level creator is fun and very easy to use.

+ Most levels aren't timed, giving you room to think.

+ 3 save slots, so multiple people can enjoy this game without stepping on each other's toes.

+ The in-game dictionary is impressive. You can summon a surprising range of things, and they'll be relatively accurate. (I was very surprised to find I could create a Teratorn.)

+ This game will make you actually reach for a dictionary just to see what kinds of fun things you can summon. A great way to expand vocabulary and sharpen spelling!

+ In-game spelling suggestions can lead you to new, strange objects.

Cons:

Custom levels can only be shared with friends. I can only imagine how long the life of this game could be extended if the developers let people share levels with the world.

Some of the story levels are uninspired.

Not every object behaves as it should, or as you'd expect it to. Some objects are copies of others, or are otherwise useless.

Recommended for:

* Creative children (probably ages 6 and up, because you need to know basic spelling and language to effectively play the game).

* Creative adults (who will totally feel their inner child awaken as they play this game).

* People who want some novelty in their games.

* People who haven't played the first Scribblenauts and want another great title for their DS.

Things to note:

* This game, Super Scribblenauts, is the second game in the series. Scribblenauts is the first game. Their boxes and titles are very similar, so pay close attention if you're purchasing this as a gift for someone.

I bought the original last year and the superior sequel this year. I am a >30 year old male and love this series. As a kid playing videogames I always wondered why I couldn't kick open locked doors or use a rope in my inventory to rappel down a cliff. I was always limited to what the developers wrought. Nothing against them, I love a good scripted game.

When, in the first game I used a helicopter with a carrot to coax a cow to move out of a traffic jam; a sound that I hadn't heard in a looong time ushered from my lips. I was giggling.

This game recreates that moment and more. Having an undead haunted chair scare a purple spotted baby made me giggle, as much as having a pregnant zombie monkey ravage a bouncy, angry zoo.

Now I KNOW its not for everyone, and I do have a hard time explaining my fascination to other adults, but this is the best lego box I've played with in 2 decades.

What can you expect from Super Scribblenauts?

You can expect to see a grown man giggle at a gentlemanly giant spider. Monocles and all.

For those who don't remember, Scribblenauts was supposed to be one of the greatest video games ever made. It had a library of tens of thousands of objects you could summon and combine in virtually infinite ways. Alas, the game suffered from quirky physics and horrendous controls. You could spend an enormous amount of time creating an elaborate solution to a puzzle, only to have the main character misinterpret a screen tap and throw himself off a cliff or casually blow himself up.

I am extremely pleased to report that 5th Cell seems to have learned from their mistakes and have fixed all those issues with their sequel, Super Scribblenauts.

The game physics have been greatly improved. In the original, connected objects tended to flail around. If you attached a chain to a stick, your character would thrash about like he was insane. Placing a magnet on top of a car would cause the car to fly off the screen and disappear. These flaws have been fixed in Super Scribblenauts. Gravity behaves more normally and things no longer float around when attached to each other.

Even more important, the controls have been fixed. You now have the option of using the stylus or the D-pad. If you decide to use the touch screen to move, you'll find that Maxwell isn't jumpy like in the original game. He keeps his feet on the ground unless he needs to jump and he doesn't run off if you accidentally tap the wrong place on the screen. You also can no longer accidentally drop objects; tapping on yourself brings up a menu instead. You can now take objects away from NPCs, something you couldn't easily do in the original. The camera also stays wherever you put it, instead of returning to Maxwell automatically.

The new version of the game adds adjectives to its already enormous dictionary. So now instead of merely summoning a "car", you can be specific and summon a "blue car", a "small car" or a "wooden car". You can use multiple adjectives, so you can even summon a "small blue wooden car". On one puzzle, I tried summoning a "romantic dinner" and ended up with a steak with heart thought balloons.

The hint system has also been improved. Hints cost money, but the amount required decreases the longer you keep trying at the level. Eventually the game will provide the hints for free if you try long enough.

In the original game, there wasn't much incentive to be creative with the objects you summon; I ended up using "wings" on almost every single level that required flying or climbing. Super Scribblenauts on the other hand rewards originality. Each new word you use gets you money, so it pays to break out the thesaurus.

Super Scribblenauts is everything Scribblenauts should have been. It's a shame the designers didn't get it right the first time, but at least they learned from their mistakes and got the sequel right.

Honest reviews on Super Scribblenauts

My kids age 9 and 13 have XBOX 360, Wii, and DSi. They have had in the past Gamecube, original XBOX, Playstation, DS, Gameboy, Leapster, Vsmile. Of all the years, and platforms, I would put this game in the top 10. I am amazed that even after having it for over a year, they both continue to come back to it, and enjoy hours of re-play. I am also impressed that it is so educational. They learn spelling, and new ways of thinking. I even have to use my brain sometimes to help them with spelling, or to think of a creative way of solving the problem.

I bought this game for my 12 yr old daughter's birthday present. She loves it! It is challenging and still fun. The difficulty increases as the levels increase. It helps with spelling and vocabulary without her even knowing it's a learning game. She enjoys being able to create her own characters.

Great game, worth the money, definitely would recommend.

Wasn't able to get one in the stores month ago and it was worth the extra couple bucks to get it to my door. Great service and shipping. Got an extra lucky pack because it contained Mickey's car as well. I only bought it because of Mike's car and that was extra bonus!

I am currently stationed in South Korea so I paid you triple the cost so my child could try and get the different exclusives for her set." I know its at Random but out of 6 packs I should of had at least one or two different.

The title says it. I have looked in stores, and these usually run $15-$25. Honestly, because of the dimensions of my living room, I could only use my Kinect for voice commands, which is super convenient, but I wanted to play my games too. Having the Kinect securely mounted above my television is the only way I could get full functionality, and now I have it. Needless to say I was stoked to find such a great deal on this one. I want to note that the package does not come with printed instructions for assembly, but they can be easily found among the listing's pictures.

First off, this game is a 4.5.

Am I the only one that didn't know this game came out? I never saw a single preview of it. Also, every site that I see just seems to describe it poorly, and I had no interest in it. Only after I saw a portion from Jess Chobot did I say that looks fairly interesting.

This game is basically GTA meets Assasins Creed I and Wolfenstein. It is sandbox like GTA, you get to climb around and do stealth kills like ACI, and it is a FPS where you kill Nazi ala the great Wolfenstein.

This is also a game where I dread Amazon's star system. Sure a 2.5 or 3.5 can be rounded up or down without much affect, but to me a 4.5 game is a 4.5 game. It is still a lot better than a 4, but not perfect like a 5.

CONS:

Music There is virtually no sound track. You have one in your car and in the cabaret. That is it. It is also pretty poor music. At first I thought, "Well, this does take place in the 40's, so it isn't like you can put Metallica in there." However, I absolutely loved Fallout 3's music, so that isn't really an excuse. I found myself singing the music to that game all the time when I was playing it.

Voice I have seen some complaints about the main character. Most people have a problem with his voice and that he is a stereotypical Irishman. Maybe they have never actually heard an irishman talk. It is pretty good. There are a couple french people that aren't that good though. Anyway, not bad enough to detract from the game unless you are just looking for something to complain about.

Replay Not really any replay value, but you do have a lot of extra goodies to pick up. There are over 1000. This would be a slight con.

PROS:

Fun This game is fun fun fun. Main missions and side missions are all fun.

Other There are plenty of weapons and cars although you will find yourself just using one or two, so they could improve on this a bit. Plus all the cars you find laying around suck, so you have to use one of your own, but you can summon your own almost at anytime.

Perks These are "achievment" like items that give your character bonuses, almost like a leveling system for RPG. They actually added more to the game than I thought they would.

Artistic Value I can appreciate artisticness, but don't "need" it. When you start the game everything is black and white except for lights, and red. So, the nazi flags stand out. It is actually very beautiful. As you inspire the Parisians, those respective areas get their color back. It makes for a very beautiful and unique game. I actually enjoyed the black and white look. It also added to the time that this is in.

Conclusion:

I look forward to the second one. They definitely left it open for one. His last words are I'm just gettin started! I think with some improvement on the perks along with some more stealth features and maybe some fighting features would be great. Add some more good cars to be found on the streets. Maybe an extra weapon or two. I would like to see a slight bit more emphasis on stealth too. Basically, I think with a little work, this game could be perfect.

Anyway, if you are looking for an absolute fun game to play, this is it. It is the best of most worlds game type. I have read a lot of reviews that it doesn't do this or that good. Well, it wasn't meant to be an FPS, so the weapons may be "arcadish", it isn't meant to be an RPG, so the leveling system isn't that complex. I will say that sometimes, climbing can be a chore. ACII is supposed to kill this on that aspect, but I thought it was pretty comparable to ACI. It also has a great storyline as well.

This is a great gift to any gamer, and now that the prices are dropping, it is worth the price as well.

Been playing this about 10 hours, and it's a lot of fun. 3300+ open world targets to blow up, upgrades galore, everything can be upgraded in this game. Health, armor, cars, weapons, demolitions, you name it. Very much a "play the way you want to" open world. Lots of freedom. A vertical world too, since you can climb anything!

If you enjoy sandbox games, definitely give this a chance. Not your average WW2 game that's for sure. I haven't run into any bugs yet, but then again, in 10 hours I have only covered about 10% of the game, if that. Definitely going to get your money's worth. Give it a shot.

Best Deals for The Saboteur - Xbox 360

I recently picked up The Saboteur for the Xbox 360 after being hesitant of the title after Pandemic Studio's last big title Mercenaries 2 had so many unfixed bugs in it. I figured the same would happen with The Saboteur and after Pandemic Studios got shut down, that about sealed it for me.

Nonetheless, I picked up The Saboteur anyway out of boredom.

To begin things, new copies of this game come with a free code for a download called 'The Midnight Show,' that can also be downloaded for a price off Xbox Live. This code inserts nudity into the game ~ nudity that you'll see right from the start. So, be warned of that if you have nudity sensitive people in your household. Beyond that, The Saboteur plays similiar to that of GTA4 or the 1st Godfather game. It's an open-world environment where you complete tasks, missions to get upgrades and whatnot to advance in the game. The game takes a que from Assassin's Creed, as well, as you can climb nearly any building, including the Effel Tower (did I spell that right?). Although, the climbing is nowhere near as polished as Assassin's Creed's, nor as polished as a GTA4 in the other departments. As for my concern about bugs ~ well, they're there. The most obvious I've come across is a stripper sitting... on the ceiling! With Pandemic Studios closed down, don't look for this game to get patched.. ever!

One thing unique about this game that I do like is the B&W color scheme in Nazi occupied areas, used to demonstrate the low moral of the area. It gives the game a nice look, but sometimes makes it difficult to see in shaded areas. As the Nazis are weakened, color returns to the area and Paris does look amazing.

Open-world fans will probably dig the game and the mission structure looks like it's going to provide a lengthy experience. So, if you can look pass the bugs and the subpar mechanics of the game, you might enjoy it.

Honest reviews on The Saboteur - Xbox 360

I absolutely love this game. Firstly, the game starts out zooming out to show a sexy, naked (If you enter the free redeemable code which comes packaged with every new copy of the game. ;) ), WWII Dancer, in a night club, surrounded my many many other naked ladies. If that isn't a plus, what is?! Secondly, the whole game is just downright fun. Sure, it's not very original, everything in it has been done, and probably done better, before, but it's just fun. The game starts out in black and white, and you need to rid each section of Paris of Nazi's in order to bring "color" back to the city.

I'm only about halfway through, but despite what other people say, I've yet to feel repetition. That being said, this is one of those TIFYS (Try it for your self) games, as it is not for everyone. To me, The Saboteur is a mix of Assassin's Creed and Mercenaries. This is a great, final entry from the late Pandemic Studios, and while it could have used a bit more polish, it is still a great addition to my collection.

Pro's:

-Sexy

-Sexy Setting

-Blowing up stuff is fun

-Engaging Story

-Great Graphics (Black and white areas look stunning)

-Fantastic Soundtrack, both the Orchestrated Pieces and the WWII music

-Slick presentation

Con's:

-Climbing buildings does exist, but it doesn't feel fluid like other games

-Combat could be better

The French Resistance is one of those shadowy organizations that poked its head out for one impressive run during the darkest days of Nazi occupied france. And while the success rate of Sean, our intrepid hero, is probably 10000% above where his real life counterpart made it, the experience is still impressive. The Sabotuer follows Sean, an Irish race car driver trapped in Paris and is sburban enclaves just after the invasion, and reeling from the murder of his best friend at the hands of a Nazi "scientist."

Graphics are fairly standard, up to snuff without any glorious trailblazing. The "Noir" color scheme, soft muted grays against with only the blood red nazi banenrs and arm bands stand out, is a pretty rejoinder that serves to spice things up.

Audio is also spot on, and the accents are done well without being so thick you need a translation on the translation. I do wish there were more people to talk to, as even canned conversations are preferable to a personal army of mutes.

Gameplay is surpisingly hit and miss. The immediate reminder is rather like infamous, clambering over structures to reach targets of opportunity. A collection of weapons and vehicles, as well as abilities improvements based on in game actions round things out nicely, but feel rather slapdash. The exchange system is a bit haphazard as well, as theres little in the way of loot, and thoguh they try to include snippets on what you collect, you can't bring yourself to care much, since its easier to bomb things. And bomb things you do. You set charges, and explosives, and rig booby traps, and plant munitions, and a few other analogys for slap a block of dynamite and light it with your lighter. And while it manages to hold its charm for a whiel, its eventually as repetitive as the sun rising in the east. Combats a decent mix of shooter and hand to hand, which is actually effective enough to justify, rather than feeling vestigial after laying hands on some guns.

On the downside, there are bugs. Lots of bugs. Bugs on top of bugs. Clipping issues, teleporting enemies, total failures of sound, and spotting problems, and flying cars were all spotted in multiple numbers within the first two hours of play. And some of the characters are ludicrious to the point that you think they're "special" rather than evil. The kind of monologue where you seem to be mudering a baby with one hand while devouring a live puppy with the other are nice for Bond villians, but should've been toned down to reality like levels. And their DLC seems to be reaching for the bottom of the barrel, as its advertisement seemed apropo to some areas of Las Vegas, but not being 13 anymore, I didn't feel compelled to shell out extra dollars for a "nudity" option.

For a swan song, the Sabotuer is okay. Not great, but definitely not a failure. Too much repitition of the "free gameplay" is balanced by some entertaining missions and dialogue. While the bugs are frequent enough to garner some serious stink, this latest nazi shoot is still worth a look.

Review of Mario Kart 64

Mario Kart 64
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
Mario Kart 64, the sequel to the first Mario Kart game on the SNES is great. Nintendo got rid of some of the things that made the SNES title so much fun, but added a lot too. The gameplay is much more enhanced, the characters look much better and the individual go-karts are very realistic.

Like the SNES version, this game includes 3 modes of play: GP (Grand Prix), Battle, and Time Trial. In GP you choose one of 8 characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Wario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Bowser in a large variety of courses in the Mushroom Cup, Flower Cup Star Cup, or Special Cup (which you unlike by getting gold trophies in each of the 3 basic courses) in 50cc, 100cc, or 150cc mode. 50cc is the easiest, but in 100cc and 150cc the computer gets much faster and more challenging. There are several items you can collect by driving through the question mark boxes which help you during each race. Lightning bolts (the rarest item to get) makes all of the other opponents small, mushrooms give you a speed burst, banana peels make one of your opponents crash if they slip on it, red shells are used to shoot directly at an opponent to get them off course, and green shells keep bouncing off the walls until it hits one of the racers. Unlike the SNES Mairo Kart game, there are several objects you need to avoid to stay on course. In different races there are trucks and cars that will make you crash if you hit them, snowmen that will blow up if you hit them, and many other obstacles in different courses.

In Battle mode you and up to 3 others choose one of the 8 characters. You drive around a course trying to pop each other's 3 balloons. You can pop their balloons by shooting red or green shells at them or throwing banana peels at them to make them slip. You can also use the other items to avoid being hit by them. Once all of your balloons are popped you become a bomb which you can drive around the course trying to run in to the other players. This mode is a lot of fun, especially if you get tired of continually playing Grand Prix mode.

In Time Trial mode you race in any of 15+ courses and try to set records for each lap and/or race.

The controls for Mario Kart 64 are very simple and easy to master, and the music and sound effects are great as well.

If you want a great racing game for your N64, I highly recommend that you check out Mario Kart 64.

Make sure you only put this in once because if you're not carefully you will brake the tabs off that hold it in. If you get it right the first time it looks nice.

Very difficult to install unless you have jig to place your cover in to cut out whole placement. Product is made out of very hard plactic. Clips will break off if you try and force them. If you plan on doing this your self take your time. If you install it correctly it looks Great with the Max whisper fans and Aurora light kit....

Best Deals for Xray for Xbox 360

First of all, this talismoon window would be a whole lot better if the clips where stronger, unfortunately that is not the case as I got a few broken while trying to fit it on the cut plastic. But I do got to say that I was able to save most clips from braking off and fit it with no gaps. You can see the pics of my Gears of War theme. So take your time cutting and filing away the edges before you try to press on the window so that you dont break any clips.

Honest reviews on Xray for Xbox 360

I had a terrible time with this. The plastic tabs that hold this in place do not flex and are very brittle. I ended up buying another window after the first try left me with a window with no tabs to hold it in. I thought the second time would be better because I adjusted my cut, but after a couple tries I broke more tabs and now it is in place but there are gaps on both sides where there is no tab to hold it in place. You're are better off using some sort of power tool, like jig saw and buying thin plexiglass and glueing it in place.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Xray for Xbox 360

If you are considering this as an option to insert a clear window into your xbox 360 consider lexan plexiglass. It comes with directions to install. When you go to cut, score, or dremel this around the edge of the piece of paper that you stick on you are left with a gap that renders this ineffective. If you are to purchase this dremel or cut exactly on the edge of the paper to get the cut right.

Reviews of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
Let's be honest, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon sounded a bit too good to be true when it was first announced (seems fitting it was announced on April Fool's, right?). Luckily, that isn't the case. Blood Dragon is downright awesome, and it's one of the best stand alone games I've played since Minerva's Den. Why? Well, it's pretty simple. It's basically the dream 80's action film in a video game form. Part Tron, part Terminator, and part Robocop, this balls to wall action game deftly mixes the the best of 80's action films with all out with explosive game play. Let me just say that, if you have any passing interest in 80's action films, you need to play this game.

First off, while Blood Dragon essentially Far Cry 3 regarding game play, everything else is completely different. Honestly, it's the whole 80's inspiration that drove me to purchase this, and they did NOT disappoint. The basic plot revolves around Sergeant Rex "Power" Colt, who's on a mission to destroy a rogue robot army in a futuristic dystopia in 2007. He's aiming to get the chick, cause a lot of deaths and destruction, and of course, save the world from a robot apocalypse. Along the way, there are cyborgs, cheesy 80's one-liners, laser-spewing dragons, and a world that is basically an orgy of neon lights and brilliant, colorful landscapes, brought up to uncomfortable levels of rave. Oh, and they have Michael Biehn (of Aliens/Terminator fame) playing the lead role.

It's the style, and the fact that they hold NOTHING back, is why this tongue in cheek, but still genuine, love for the 80's works. It's a wild game, evoking every awesome 80's action film brought up to the most grandiose levels of sheer awesomeness. It's wild and it doesn't hold anything back. The visuals are stunning, as the game is awash with brilliant neon colors, designed in conjunction with terrific art direction that brings to mind the type of fantastic world I've dreamed about since I was watching the said 80's films. The music itself rounds out the packaging, effortlessly mixing futuristic techno with the of 80's action films such as Terminator and Robocop.

Game play wise, Blood Dragon plays pretty much identical to Far Cry 3. The only really major change is that, instead of skill trees, it's basically just a more predetermined smaller set of skills (weapons are handled differently as well, but it doesn't deviate from the original game all that much). If you played the third game, there is little you need to know about the game play. The mechanics are identical, and in truth, Blood Dragon is pretty much identical to Far Cry 3, only re-skinned to match the all out 80's wackiness. Honestly though, that's not really a pejorative; the game's style is just so wild that it proves aesthetics can provide a totally different experience. Besides, it's DLC, so what do you expect? Bottom line, if you liked Far Cry 3's game play, you will like Blood Dragon as a game without question.

Enough talk. Check out the bloody thing as of right now. Blood Dragon is definitely a surprise this year, but it's a welcome one. Far Cry 3 was definitely one of the best FPS games I've ever played, so a completely wild spin-off was more than welcome. Not too much to say here, but if you like Far Cry 3, or have nostalgia for awesome 80's action flicks, than check out Blood Dragon now. You won't regret it!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Like most people, I thought the announcement for this downloadable content was literally an April Fool's joke. Luckily, it was not. What do you get for $14.99? Oh, positively one of the best, if not THE best Stand alone DLC experience you can buy right now. Ubisoft Montreal have somehow combined the humorous nostalgia of 1980s action movies with their current Far Cry engine; to create an experience that would make Arnold Schwarzenegger wish he was young once again. To top off the look and feel, Michael Beihn (known for Aliens, The Terminator, Navy Seals) even offers his gruff voice to portray Rex Power Colt, the Mark IV Cyber Commando you control to thwart the evil schemes of your previous commanding officer. The adventure is full of one liners, crazy action situations, and just plain over the top stupidity that you can't help but love and laugh at. Even the soundtrack provided by electronic band, Power Glove, fits with Blood Dragon's look providing familiar yet needed sound queues for every situation. Although the in game cut-scenes are not what you call "current generation," they do however provide a wonderful ode to old school story telling for video games from the 80s. If you don't laugh at the Terminator or Predator references within the first 5 minutes, you must not have a funny bone within you...or you are too young to understand.

The cons:

*For PC, you have to use Ubisoft's version of DRM game management, UPlay, no matter if you are already using Steam or Origin. It's a minor inconvenience, but you can simply set it to go into offline mode after you install and register Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

*PC default controls seem off to me like Far Cry 3's did. The game feels more comfortable using an XB360 controller, even though my aim suffers this way. It's either hit or miss here.

*The game's length is considerably shorter than Far Cry 3's single player gameplay. There are no multiplayer modes within it. So if this upsets you, what were you expecting? Wait till it's cheaper if this offends you.

*Some additional objectives/side quests can get repetitive and lack variety, but somehow are still fun to do. The downside is there are no skill trees like Far Cry 3 had to coincide with your XP gain. Skills are automatically unlocked per level. Also there is no crafting. So in order to obtain weapon upgrades, you have to complete these additional missions and spend money to customize your weapons.

*The Island's look is either hit or miss. People will either complain that it's too dark, or it fits perfectly as a "neon hot pink" Tron styled environment.

*The game is pretty damn easy. Fun, but way too easy. Play on Hard for a boost in challenge.

If this was a risk for Ubisoft to create Blood Dragon, I sincerely hope they take more like this. So far the 7 hours I played of Blood Dragon have been pure 80s bliss. After 4 hours of playing it, I immediately wanted to go watch the Terminator and Robocop for the 1000th time. It's such an awesome and hilarious ode to games and movies that I loved as a kid. So, if you don't own or have played any of Far Cry 3? No problem, once again, this is purely stand alone content(2.98 gigabytes big). Did you grow up, experience the 80s and that era's movies? Also, are you a fan of first person shooters particularly open world like what Far Cry and Crysis have to offer? Then what are you waiting for? Stop reading this and download this now! While playing this game you can be be pretty much guaranteed a few things:

-You will enjoy the synth-pop soundtrack

-You will have a perma-grin from all the references and cheesiness

-You will be reminded of all the things you loved as a child, growing up in the 80s

Give this game a shot, even if you didn't like Far Cry 3...it's only $15! The 80's theme stuff is entertaining, but the tripped out neon everything does get a little tiring on one's brain after a while. Also, the assignment of missions and the locations to go to are confusing. The game save function is also limited and weird in it's use.
