The headphones sound really good and I use them on my work PC for taking phone calls and they work great. My only complaints is when I connect the headphone cable to my iPhone or iPad I do not get any audio. Also, if you play a song that starts out quiet and the audio level rises it does not play sound until it reaches a threshold. Both of these are after replacing the headphones through amazon.

Man, I love this headset. So comfortable and sound quality is great. The way you can mute the mic by just raising it is so convenient.

Sound quality was better than expected. It was very easy to connect. I was skeptical about it being wireless but it exceeded my expectations. The color is slightly lighter than the picture indicates but its still really nice.

I've had lots of headsets over the years. I've had problems with ruining it with running over cords and being too dumb to set it up on how to use it with voice, music or whatever. This is just plug and play. I bought some at Christmas and this time my mistake is I let my kids use them and lo and behold they broke them. Now they get $6 headphones and I'm getting these again and they can't touch it.

As I am writing this review I am at about 5-6 hours of gameplay and past the 3rd stage. So almost halfway through, this review is to give those considering buying this game a sense of what it is like.

There are 3 difficulty modes: Easy, Normal, and Hard. I am playing through on Normal because the puzzles can be frustrating at times and I have died on Normal many times already.

The puzzle gameplay is the main focus of game when you are in the Nightmare stages which you have to push and pull blocks arranging them in a way so you can climb higher and get through to progress the love triangle between Vincent the main character we are in control of, Katherine his longtime girlfriend, and Catherine the mysterious blonde who works her way into Vincent's life. Each puzzle has a time limit which is imposed by either the lowest line of blocks falling off one after the other or a Boss that chases the player as they climb higher, although a Boss is only on the final level of each Stage.

After each Nightmare stage is completed you wake up to progress the story in the real world through text messages, conversations with your friends, and spending your nights drinking in the bar called Stray Sheep.

So far each Nightmare stage has two levels and a final level, each stage and level has had varying obstacles and traps to stop you from progressing and frustrate you as you try to solve each puzzle. But along with this frustration I always feel great satisfaction when I find the correct route and narrowly escape death. After beating a level you end up on in an area with other "sheep" who also have to climb to survive like Vincent, here they will give you tips on climbing and you can purchase different items to help you in the puzzles although you can only carry you item and picking a new item up replaces your current item.

In Stray Sheep there is a mini-puzzle game called Rapunzel which mirrors the game of Catherine except the character in that game is saving Rapunzel by climbing blocks to reach her long hair. In this mini game though you have a limited number of moves you can make, but you don't have blocks falling from under you and you don't have a time limit either.

Overall this game is for those seeking an actual challenge from a game and don't want to just be along for the ride while the game basically plays itself. I have played Portal and ilomilo, both of which are great puzzle games, but this game might be above those in terms of great story telling combined with great animation and incredible and difficult gameplay.

On a side note the alternate artwork looks great and I liked it more than the normal artwork cover shown online, my pre-order came with a bonus sound disc with songs from the game and a 20-page artbook which both are great, the music in the game is perfect for the nightmare tone using orchestral music like Chopin and Beethoven.

Even after many years of having games made for all ages, some people still believe that games are made primarily for kids. Catherine is a prime example of why this belief is completely and utterly wrong. Catherine is a very adult game and I'm not talking about adult as in adult movie or adult magazines. Catherine is an adult game because it deals with adult themes and doesn't shy away from uncomfortable topics.

The game starts out with the main character, Vincent, in a rather awkward and uncomfortable relationship. After a series of events leads Vincent to being unfaithful to his girlfriend, he starts suffering very bizarre nightmares where he must climb a giant staircase or fall to his death. It becomes increasingly clear that this is not an isolated incident and that if anyone having these dreams falls, they die in real life as well. Vincent must not only figure out how to end these bizarre, deadly dreams but he has to figure out how, in the real world, to deal with his unfaithfulness and choose between his girlfriend Catherine or his lover, Katherine.

The plot may sound ridiculous but it strikes a very solid emotional chord whether you have been in a similar situation or not. As you switch between making decisions for Vincent in the real world and helping him survive in his dreams, it's easy to form a strong attachment to these characters and the game never allows you the comfort of easy choices. While you may have very clear opinions on the morality of cheating, the situation becomes increasingly complicated as things continue and it doesn't remain a clear black-and-white decision. Also, just because the story revolves around a male picking between two females, doesn't mean this is a game just for guys. I played this game with my girlfriend and she become engrossed in the story as well.

Many story-based games start to disregard gameplay to a certain point and while Catherine certainly seems repetitive after a while, the difficulty ramps up quickly. In the dreams, Vincent is wearing nothing but his underwear and has goat horns but is otherwise the same Vincent. Each staircase is made up of large cubes that must be pushed and climbed to reach the top while the rows start dropping below Vincent. If Vincent doesn't move quickly enough, the floor beneath his feet will drop out and he'll fall to his death in a rather shocking display of spikes and blood. These puzzles are extremely simple to understand but become extremely difficult to complete especially by the end. While some players will become frustrated by them, the sense of reward from completing each level is something very few modern games can provide and the subsequent cut-scenes act as the prize, making the storyline even more interesting as time goes on.

Many anime games suffer from stereotypical characters and mediocre writing and acting. Catherine does not have any of these problems. Characters are some of the most memorable and three-dimensional characters this generation and the voice acting is spot on for pretty much everyone.

Many people will ignore Catherine for what it is. A relatively obscure title, made in Japan with anime stylings, a puzzle game, the list goes on. Still, many people would be making a mistake and would miss out on one of the most unique and interesting titles to be released on the Xbox 360 or any other console. If you shy away from difficult games, this may not be the game for you but if you are willing to fight through and persevere, you'll be greatly rewarded.

The idea is simple.

Move blocks in a tower to climb to the top.

You're constantly racing against a "timer" as the levels below you fall after a certain period of time while you're climbing to the top.

I was worried that this would become frustrating, as I usually like to take time and plan my moves in advance.

It actually turned out to add a lot of excitement to the game and kept me moving.

Along the way, you'll run into obstacles, such as sheep (other men like you who are trapped in this dreamworld).

Different block types keep you thinking and planning your route to the top. Very fun action puzzles.

The real brilliance of the game is the story and the beautiful animation.

Your time is split between the dreamworld (this is the block/climbing portion of the game) and the daytime (the dating sim portion of the game).

Your decisions during the game have an impact of what happens towards the end of the game. The game packs a few alternate endings, so multiple playthroughs are warranted, although the main story itself remains mostly unchanged no matter what decisions you make (but the endings vary wildly).

The story is well crafted, exciting, and engaging. Even the time spent at the bar talking to patrons and learning more about this world and your friends is interesting.

The music is also incredible. It is constructed of remixes from various classical songs.

One of my favorite games of the year. If you like puzzle games and have patience (you will die. A lot.) check it out.

Honest reviews on Catherine - Alternate Boxart -Xbox 360

This is such a great game. It is a Japanese puzzle type game in which you must climb up through Vincent's (the main character) nightmares.

I would describe the entire game as Cubert meets nightmare on elm street, meets japanese anime. I was very impressed with the story as well as the gameplay (no I'm not including any spoilers so don't worry). And there is also plenty of playing time, but be careful because of its addictive story line you may even find yourself up all night playing a game like this. I'm not to partial to puzzle games infact the only ones I've played are Tetris, and a brief spell of Cubert and Dr.Mario. But this game manages to stand out among other puzzle games due to its beautiful animated cutscenes, like able characters whom you may even be able to sympathize with, and overall just fun gameplay that actually makes you think for a change.

Now on to the Alternate Box art. I must say I very much prefer it to the standard box art. It seems a bit classier to me but then again that could just be personal preference. However if you don't like it you can always just pick up the standard box art anyway.

There are many games today that all fall in line a base set of expectations. Catherine is different from everything else and that's a very good thing. Not to mention it seriously likes to mess your mind. In a good way of course.

STORY:

The baseline is this. Random men are dying in their beds and no one has a clue how to stop it, thus fear spreads through the populace. Meanwhile Our 30 year old protagonist Vincent Brooks spends his days toiling in the tech industry and his evenings getting blasted with his friends at a local bar. He also has a girlfriend of several years, a nagging-but-caring woman named Katherine. She has been pushing Vincent as of late to take their relationship to the next level, prodding him to solidify their bond. But Vincent's unsure of what he wants to do. One night while he drinks in the bar alone he meets a younger lass by the name of Catherine and from there everything spirals out of control leaving complications with his real life and nightmares that threaten to end him every night.

The story is intriguing and in my opinion it's one of the best in a good while. You keep guessing who's guilty and whats what the entire time. I personally was never right in any of my assumptions.

GAMEPLAY:

Catherine's main gameplay consists of block puzzles. You must try to position them in a way that will get to the top of the tower while each layer of blocks slowly falls to oblivion from the bottom up. It mixes it up with different block types, unbelievable positioning, and boss battles (Awesome boss battles). After you complete a tower of blocks you get put in a break area called the landing. Here you can talk to people and when ready, proceed to the next area but not before your asked a question. What you answer will define your morality meter that helps to determine what ending you will get and what Vincent thinks throughout the game. The meter isn't really GOOD vs EVIL as Vincent is a nice guy all around, it's actually more CHAOS vs LAW. Chaos being Freedom and excitement while Law being dedication and Strictness. Once the question is answered it's the next puzzle for you!

How hard the puzzles are of course depends on the difficulty you choose. There's super easy (Hidden, I'll explain later), Easy, Normal, and Hard. On the easy modes you are able to get base achievements but are unable to unlock other game modes like couch co-op or the Babel tower (Challenge mode). Those are reserved for getting gold ratings (statues) on normal and above. There are many tutorials and tips but make no mistake some people won't be able to get anywhere on normal and easy will be a huge challenge. The developers saw this and implemented a secret easy mode for those of you who are at their wits end. At the main title screen hold the select button until everything flashes white. Then start a game on easy. Don't expect any good scores for doing this. But it makes things easy enough so my friends and family could play it while I go crazy on normal (Can't even fathom touching hard). It's also good if you wanna just do a speed run to see the stories multiple endings.

So at night you have Nightmares of block puzzles but what about day? During the day (after you pass through the cutscenes) your put in a bar called the Stray Sheep. Here you can listen to music, Play the Rapunzel game which is basically block puzzle practice, Drink (which increases your speed in the dream) and talk to the people in the bar (you can also answer texts and questions which effect the CHAOS/LAW meter.) Talking to people is its own sidequest because your fellow patrons will also appear in the nightmares. Encouraging or ignoring them decides whether they live or not.

ENDING COMMENTS:

Give this game a chance. Some gamers might be put off by the difficulty but for others it will be a major plus. The story is excellent and I at least believe it to be worth your time.

Every year with Call of Duty I usually get the hardened edition. especially since they've been including the season pass (the season Pass gives you access to all the downloadable content or DLC for the year) because usually it's a savings. But this year the hardened edition is $10 more than buying the game at $60 and the season pass at $50. So unless you want the collectors edition boxes and things like that you probably should just go for them individually.

But I think Call of Duty Ghosts is a fun call of duty I usually enjoy Infinity Ward call of duty's more and this delivers in the modern warfare feel for the series. There are a lot of things you need to take note of though as they have revamped so many of the things that we were used to in previous iterations of the game.

One thing I want let you know your squad points are tokens you can earn while playing the game, completing challenges, winning matches etc. be very cautious how you spend these tokens and what you unlock with them as they are kind of a pain in the butt to earn and it sucks to drop a bunch of tokens on a really crappy piece of gear. I would recommend going into local multiplayer because all your gear is unlock there and you can try out everything before you spend your valuable tokens on them.

One last thing I have to say about call of duty ghosts is I really kind of think some of the maps are way too big. I mean some maps I spent 15 minutes in a game of Kill Confirmed and my team only collected 40 tags because we couldn't find the other team. And it really sucks that you can only play 6v6 whereas on the next generation of consoles they will be doing 9v9.

Thanks for reading.

This will be a long, disjointed review. I like it better than Black Ops 2 (which is saying something) and 1000x more than MW3 (which isn't saying anything).

I bought Arkham Origins, GTA5, AND Assasin's Creed:Black Flag in recent weeks. They are all going to be shelved for months while I play this game. LOVE IT!

Minus 1 star for no manual. I want a manual included.

The package itself is awesome. Was a little confused at which disc to install and play off of, but figured it out (I'll leave that fun to you). Quick to boot up. Fairly quick to get into a game. Coming from Black Ops 2, took me a bit to figure out how best to configure my soldier.

I don't EVER play the single player part, so all those locked characters you can choose from that are blacked out... I don't know who is what there.

The action is crazy as ever. More "realistic" as you don't have a pack of 8 dogs rampaging around. No spy planes to shoot down.

You can lean again, which is nice. The Clan thing, I signed up for one online, and then ingame its not there.

Not having a instruction manual was not helpful at all. Bought the Kindle version of the Guide and doesn't work on my computer... YAY?

Much larger, mult-layered maps. Games last longer as a result.

Graphics are still just so/so.

Gameplay is fun as usual. All kinds of attachments, and scopes, and sights, etc.

So if it'd had an acutal manual (and at $119 you think you could expect that?).

The squads things to train with is nice, but I want my stats and XP to count, so going up against bots doesn't do it for me.

None of my friends play at the same time (or that I can count on anyway), so the Clan thing is lost on me.

But its a long marathon, not a sprint. By the time Black Ops 3 comes out, I can be maxed out Prestige wise.

Still have my yellow name ingame for being an Elite Founder.

If I had to buy one game for the next gen systems, it'd be this one. Not on XBOX One though, as 720 was state of the art back in '99. ;)

This is a must have with your 360 and a controller. And in black to match your Elite controllers.

You can plug it in via USB to your Xbox 360 and charge the included battery pack while you play your game.

You can also remove your battery pack, and plug the cable directly to your 360 for wired gaming (so your controller won't shut off while you are in the middle of that hired driver Forza race.

This charges via any USB port on your 360, your computer, your cable box, or your dog (if he has included USB hub).

I recommend buying one of these, then buying the Quick Charge Kit. Then you'll have 2 battery packs, the quick charge dock, and a USB charge cable.

I enjoy the ease of use, it is convenient to just plug it in to recharge the batteries.

Unfortunately two out of three of my battery packs died within 6 months of purchase, which means they are only usable while plugged in. As such, I have returned to using rechargeable Energizer batteries, which are cheaper and more reliable (as long as you keep a few extra pairs on hand in case you run out of juice mid-game).

If you're a gambler, you might as well pick up at least one Play & Charge kit for the sake of convenience, but keep in mind that it costs as much as four AA rechargeable batteries and a charger.

Not sure if this is a common occurrence but mine broke within 6 months of use. I can still play with the controller while plugged in but it no longer charges the battery.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Black Play and Charge Kit

I bought my play and charge kit when I first bought the system. It worked wonderfully the first few times. You plug it in when you are playing and it will slowly charge the battery. However, after not playing for awhile, when I went to charge up the battery it wouldn't charge anymore. The controller was definitely connected to the 360 as I could play the games while connected.

However, the battery light indicator on the controller would glow red, to indicate it was charging, for about five minutes. Then it would turn green to signify that it charged the battery completely. I thought that perhaps it was charging, despite the light not being red, but that was not so.

I kept it plugged to the 360 while playing for a couple of hours, and then tried playing wirelessly. 5 minutes later, the controller died.

Ultimately, I think it is more of a problem with the batteries than the cord itself. I bought an extra battery to go with my white controller and it suffered the same problems.

I seem to be one of the few that have had this problem, and they are not too expensive, but be warned that this problem does occur.

I bought this as a gift for my sweetheart who adores the Indianapolis Colts (even after their 2011 season LOL). She had purchased a Steelers faceplate for me for Christmas the previous year and it was just too cool. What a fun addition to your Xbox play. The cover snaps on securely in fact it was a little tricky removing it when we upgraded to the thinner Xbox 360 and needed to transfer the cover over to the new controller. Now she has her designated controller and I have mine. Super cool!

I've played this game for a total of 10 hours now, and I've looked at just about every facet of the game. The game is not nearly what I expected, both in good ways and in bad. Here's a rundown of the different sports:

American Football: This is probably the most disappointing of the sports. It was the one I was looking forward to the most, and perhaps that is why I would consider it last. To start, you only get to play offense. The game begins with the kickoff where you wait for the ball to come to you and then run in place and try to dodge tackles. Then you take over on offense. The game only lets you pick between 6 passing plays. These get very repetitive after a while, and I noticed myself constantly calling for the deep pass every time because it's the easiest to run. When you score a touchdown/field goal or punt, the screen switches to a summary mode to show you what the opponent did. You never get to play defense or even see the other team score. It simply tells you whether they did or not. Then the whole process repeats until the game ends. As far as motions go, the sensor read my movements fairly accurately, but the running in place part did have some glitches. Don't expect to go through the motions just like a real quarterback, though. The motions are a bit dumbed-down. Overall I give this a 1/5.

Baseball: This was a bit better, but still disappointing. The batting part is pretty fun, as is running/sliding to first base if you don't hit the ball into the outfield. The pitching and defensive part of the game is a little boring. The pitching motions can be interesting, but the sensor didn't always read my movements correctly. I never once got a strikeout. I never even threw a ball (as opposed to a strike) for that matter. When the opponent hits the ball, you have a couple seconds to play to outfielder and get your hand in the right part of the screen to catch. This game tends to be much more fun when playing multiplayer though, as it gets to be more challenging that way. I give this sport a 2/5.

Darts: When I bought the game, I never thought I would play darts much at all. It seemed like another random sport they just decided to throw in there. However, after playing it a couple times, it has come to be one of my favorites. The computer difficulty levels are well programmed, as the Rookie level is not good at all, and the Champion level requires you to be on your A game. The sensor detects even the slightest movements of your arm as you aim. When you pull back for the throw, a target locks on to a part of the board where you started to pull back and your throwing movement determines how accurately the dart hits. You can change your throwing motion ever so slightly to get the dart to go higher or lower or left or right of where it locked on. You can even distract your opponent when its his/her turn to make them less accurate. I thought that was a bit clever. Overall I give this sport a 5/5.

Golf: I was somewhat pleased with this game, but unfortunately the motions for this are not as complex as I would have liked. When swinging, there is very little difference between trying to whack the heck out of the ball or gently moving your arms. The ball will go almost the same distance. The best way to change the distance your shot goes is by changing the club, not by changing how hard you swing. The holes are pretty fun, but ultimately the Kinect falls short of the Wii on this sports. I give this a 2.5/5.

Skiing: I was pleasantly surprised by the way this sport was put together. The motions used in this make it feel more like the real thing than the other sports. This is also the only sport that requires you to jump, which is one thing it has over Wii Fit (in which you can't actually jump off of the board). There isn't much else to say about this sport, but I give it a 3.5/5.

Tennis: This sport is probably my favorite. While the motions are pretty simple, it is more strategy oriented than the other sports. The Champion difficultly level is actually quite challenging. I noticed that after playing it so many times my shoulder and arm started to ache, but in a good way. Once again, there isn't much more I can say. The game is pretty simple, but it's still quite fun. The best part, though, is definitely multiplayer/Xbox Live gameplay. I give this sport a 4.5/5.

One of the features I also like about this game overall is the calorie counter. After every game you play, it estimates the number of calories burned and totals the number of calories burned from the entire playing session. This is a great motivator and makes the game more fun and exciting when trying to reach a calorie goal for the day.

I give the game as a whole a 3/5, about on par with the first Kinect Sports.

It really pains me to write this review, because I was a hugely vocal fan of the original Kinect Sports. In fact, it was the game that convinced me to buy an Xbox 360. In many ways it was the perfect showcase for the Kinect's potential for virtual reality and video game exercise.

The best analogy I can come up with for Kinect Sports Season Two is that Kinect Sports Season Two is to the original as the movie The Matrix Reloaded is to The Matrix. On its own merits it's not a horrible game, but when compared to the iconic original there's just something really lacking.

Much of the feel of Kinect Sports Season Two is carried over the original, for better and worse. The graphics are still cartoony and your Kinect avatar is still there. There's still a loud and exuberant announcer with a quasi-European accent. After gameplay, you're still treated to videos of yourself looking silly.

There are some interesting improvements. For all the sports you have the option of competing as a single player against the Xbox, head-to-head against another human, or online through Xbox Live. There's also a mini-game associated with each sport.

What's completely different, of course, is that there are six new sports. Some of them are excellent, others not so much so. I'll provide my take on each.

1) FOOTBALL: This is a "simulation" of American football. I put the word simulation in quotation marks because this isn't exactly John Madden Football.

You start out by receiving an opening kick. There's no challenge in this, you just raise your hand when you're ready to receive it. Then you run in place as opponents try to tackle you. Oddly, there's no way to break nor block tackles--you just keep running in place as fast as you can until someone takes you down (In fact, I found just flailing my arms was good enough).

Whoever designed the game either didn't understand or decided to take liberties with the rules of football. In real football, you try to advance 10 yards in four downs by rushing or passing. In this game, there's no rushing, only passing. And you have to move down the whole field in four downs and score a touchdown or a field goal.

In order to pass, you need to choose a play from a "playbook" (or have the coach call it). The "plays" are all simple patterns that all end up with one receiver to your left, one in front of you, and one to your right.

To start play, you're brought to a screen where you're the quarterback in back of your offensive line. You need to crouch down and then jump up (or say "Ready, Hike") to receive the snap. When a little green icon appears over one of the three receivers' heads, you need to make a passing motion with your arm in that receiver's direction. Time it right, and you make a completion. Once that happens, you run in place at breakneck speed again to try to gain more yardage.

Once you score or if there's a turnover on "downs", the system will simulate your opponent's drive (you don't play defense). The opponent will either score or punt, and then it's your turn again. Score more than your opponent and you win the game.

All and all, I thought the game was fun enough, and all that running in place was certainly good exercise. But there was just so much potential lost. At the end of the day, this was a game that really didn't use the Kinect's capabilities as well as it could have to come close to simulating the real sport, whether it was letting you catch a football, evade a tackle, run a pattern, or throw a football in something other than three general directions. I give the football portion 3.5 of 5 stars for fun, but it could easily have been more.

2) BASEBALL: In this game, you play offense and defense in a quick baseball game.

To bat, you stand with your side to the TV, and assume a batting stance. A ball is pitched toward you, and you swing an imaginary bat. If you make contact and hit a single you have to run in place as fast as you can (but strangely, this isn't needed if you hit a double, triple, or home run). Worse, whether you run fast or slow it doesn't seem to affect the speed of the on-screen player. In another case where the game developer clearly didn't understand the rules of baseball, you have to slide into first base (this doesn't happen in real baseball).

To pitch, you make a throwing action towards the TV. There are two types of pitches, a fastball (where you make a throwing action to the TV) and a curveball (where you make a throwing action across your chest. You can control the speed of the pitch by how fast your arm movement is. There's no defense or fielding, except in the case where a batter hits a fly ball directly to one of your players, in which case the player reaches his left arm out and catches the ball (seemingly in the same place each time, again not much of a challenge).

Sadly, I found playing baseball in this game to be a bit tedious and contrived. In some ways, the game shows the limitations of the Kinect; while the Kinect excels in games that require full body motion detection such as dancing games, it's at a bit of a disadvantage to systems like the Wii and PS3 for games that simulate holding an object like a sword or a bat (where the game needs to detect things like speed, angle and torque). The Kinect is certainly capable of this (all a developer needs to do is have the player hold a stick), but unfortunately we don't see it in Kinect Sports Season Two.

Overall, baseball gets an unfortunate 2 of 5 stars from me, although again the running in place gives some decent exercise.

3) DARTS: This is where things start to turn around a bit. You start out by telling the Xbox where your TV is--above your head, at face level, or below.

From there, you're treated to a pretty realistic game of darts. To play, you hold your hand up as if you're holding a dart. A "cross hair" will appear on screen corresponding to your hand (and it's extremely sensitive). You "aim" your dart by moving your hand back, and you release it by moving your hand forward. The ensuing action feels much like genuine darts.

The rules are traditional. You start with 501 points and need to get down to exactly zero by scoring points on the dart board, which are subtracted from your point total. Some parts of the dartboard are worth more than others. In you find this a bit confusing don't worry--the program tells you exactly which part of the board you should be aiming for.

I'd say the overall feel of this game is excellent and really feels like real darts at times. Although I won't lie--there were some times when I'd be thrusting my hand forward and the system didn't even recognize me, or worse, causing my shot to go awry. I never really felt in 100% control of the dart as I would be in real life. Still, this one is 4 out of 5 for fun for being a realistic simulation.

4) GOLF: Here you can choose a 9 hole, 3 hole, or 1 hole competition. You choose different courses. To play, you stand with your side to the TV. Aiming your shot is extremely non-intuitive--you need to step forward or back to pivot your character's aim. And you really have no context with which to swing.

As for the swing, as long as you pull back and swing with one fluid motion, the game will let it fly, even if your actual technique is horrible or non-existent. Overall, I think the same gripe with golf that I have about baseball (and which I'll have later about tennis). Since you're not holding a controller, the Xbox will just interpret any wild swing you make with your hands as a swing. Sadly, I didn't find golf very realistic; in fact, if you're not careful it had the potential to ruin a real golf swing. The golf game here may appeal to very casual players who have never picked up a golf ball, but otherwise is forgettable. 2 of 5 stars.

5) SKIING: This one was a bright spot. The only other video game skiing I've done has been in games like Wii Fit Plus and We Ski which use the Wii Balance Board. In all those games, the balance board was just too sensitive and inaccurate to simulate skiing. With Kinect Sports Season Two, your body is the controller. To pass through gates, you lean to the side. To build speed, you crouch and lean forward. When you see a green zone, you jump to earn points.

Overall, this was a game that truly showed what the Kinect is capable of. 5 of 5 stars.

6) TENNIS: Finally, we come to Tennis. Again, with the Kinect's potential, you'd think that a tennis game would allow you a lot of great simulation--the ability to serve and volley, the ability to chase down shots, and so on.

But sadly, your range of actions is again extremely limited to serving, basic backhand, basic forehand, and no running or volleying. Even your swing speed doesn't seem to make a difference. About the most complex it gets is hitting a slice (or as they describe it "slowing the ball down") by swinging your arms from high to low. And as I said, there's something "missing" when playing without a controller or at least a prop in your hand so the system could detect racquet angle, type of shot, etc. Without these things, I'd give Tennis 3 of 5 stars.

To sum up, I'd give Kinect Sports Season Two a solid 3.5 stars (which on Amazon I'll round up to 4). It has some very bright spots and carries over much of what made its predecessor successful. But there just seems to be a lot of missed opportunity as far as innovation and pushing the platform and the series forward goes.

Best Deals for Kinect Sports Season Two

I'll preface this review by saying that I was a huge fan of Kinect Sports. Kinect Sports should be a part of every Kinect gamer's library.

While Kinect Sports was fairly global in its sports, Kinect Sports is leans more heavily toward American sports. You get football, baseball, golf, tennis, darts, and skiing as your main events. You also have a number of game activities based on the aforementioned sports. It's a solid package and is one of the few Kinect titles that offer online play.

In addition to the game itself, there is a free download (DLC aka downloadable content) for Kinect Sports Season 2 called the Kinect Sports: Season Two Challenge Pack #1. This DLC adds more game modes and as well as challenges to send to friends. Each sport receives a new experience: Crazy Kicker (Football), Frantic Fielder (Baseball), Cool Ringings (Skiing), Champion Chip (Golf), Rapid Returner (Tennis) and Smart Shot (Darts).

The main football event allows single player, multiplayer, and Xbox Live match play. Single player is you against the computer. Multiplayer is a 2-player game. You can either play against each other (VS) or with each other (CO-OP). Xbox Live match play is where can play against people through the Internet. Xbox Live online play requires an Xbox Live Gold account as the Xbox Live Free account does not allow online multiplayer.

The scope of the football game is fairly limited. There are 3 difficulty levels (rookie, pro, champion). You can return kickoffs and play as the quarterback and wide receiver. There is no defensive play which is a disappointment. As soon as you receive the kickoff, you are to sprint down the field. Your character will handle the juking while you provide the locomotion. The higher you lift your knees, the faster your character will sprint. Once you have been tackled and have become the quarterback, you have 2 options. You can either let the computer pick a play for you to run (called Coach's pick) or you can select playbook and manually choose a play. If you chose to manually choose a play, you have a small selection of plays. You only have 4 downs to go the entire field but don't worry. All the plays can net you a lot of yards. 20-40 yard plays are very commonplace. On fourth down, you can choose to kick the field goal.

You can either play by going through the motions or using voice commands. Both work well but it felt more like football to go through the motions. For example, you crouch to get under the center, and then when you want to hike, you stand up. Or with voice, you would say "ready, hike". As the quarterback, once you hike the ball, your receivers will sprint down the field. When the wide receiver is open, the icon above their head will turn green. So it's a matter of recognizing who is open. You can throw to a receiver when their icon is not green but your chance of completion drops. To throw to the receiver, you just pivot your body and throw. The harder you throw, the more chance you have to have the receiver catch the ball in stride instead of stopping for the ball and then running. Catching the ball in stride increases your chance of running the distance to the end zone. Once you have thrown the ball as the quarterback, you instantly switch to being the receiver. Once you catch the ball, you simply sprint for the end zone, with the computer handling the juking and dodging of defensive players. In case you haven't realized it yet, there is a lot of sprinting in this game!!! Once you score a touchdown, kick the field goal, or turn the ball over on downs, the computer's offense will take over. You then watch whether the computer can score. You do not get to play defense. After that, the ball comes back to you and you keep going back and forth until the time runs out.

Football is a lot of fun. It is very tiring because you have to sprint every few seconds. If you hated the track and field in Kinect Sports 1, you may hate the constant sprinting in football. While the game play is great and fun, it's very limiting. You only 6 plays to choose from and they're all passing plays (though since you have to go the entire field with only 4 downs, you wouldn't want to do running plays). Also, the inability to play defense is disappointing. The football may also be better with single player than multiplayer because in single player, you are playing both the QB and the wide receiver. If you are playing co-op with a friend, you either get to be the QB or get to be the receiver. The QB only has to turn and throw the ball. The wide receiver has to do all the running. However, if you are playing against your friend, both of you have to be QB and receiver. You can use either your voice or your body, and you'll find out you'll like a combination of both. For example, when selecting plays, I just say the play.

No minigames for football come on the disc. You must download the free Kinect Sports: Season Two Challenge Pack #1 in order to get the Crazy Kicker minigame. Crazy Kicker is great fun and is a football minigame. If you've played the soccer minigames of Kinect Sports 1, you'll feel right at home. In this case, with Crazy Kicker, you are the field goal kicker. The football is placed at different locations around the football field and you have to kick the field goal. So you'll be moving your body to the left or right side of the room to orient your character for the kick. Then you kick the ball. It's a timed even so the faster you kick, the more points you can score. You definitely can't dawdle if you expect to get a good score. In addition to distance and position, there are other factors such as the wind. You are given a number of footballs to begin with. Miss a kick and you lose a football. Lose all your footballs and your game is over. This was a lot of fun. I actually felt like a field goal kicker, keeping in mind angle and the wind speed. I may actually like this minigame than the actual football game.

Baseball is decent. Not bad. Not spectacular. Though I must preface that I was never a baseball fan. You also have single player, multiplayer, and Xbox Live online multiplayer. You have either the fastball or the curve ball. You can change the speed of the ball depending on whether you step forward on your pitch. It's very simplistic baseball. Pitching against the computer is not much fun. It's much more interesting against a human opponent. If you play against the computer, they will give you a scouting report on what pitches your particular opponent is known to have a weakness. For example, they'll say the player is weak on slow curve balls. Now, this just tells the tendency of the player. It does not guarantee that they won't smash your slow curve ball out of the park. It's set up like football in that you are first the batter. Then once you hit the ball, you have to sprint to first base. If your hit is multiple bases or a home run, you do not have to sprint. But if it's a grounder, you have to sprint to beat out the ball. Again, keep your knees high for maximum speed. Batting is definitely more fun than pitching in this game. They don't let you play a full 9 innings though.

The baseball minigame that comes on the disc is Home Run Hero. In this, you take multiple swings of the bat just like a home run derby. It tallies the distance on all the balls rather than just counting home runs. So you are aiming for the great total distance of all your hits. With Kinect Sports: Season Two Challenge Pack #1, you get the Frantic Fielder minigame. This is very similar to the minigame in beach volleyball of Kinect Sports 1. You have to reach out to catch the baseballs coming at you. Sometimes the ball will bounce out of your mitt so you have a second opportunity to catch any misses. Once you missed a number of baseballs, the game is over. This one is not as fun as the minigame in volleyball of Kinect Sports.

Darts is a surprisingly good time. There is only 1 darts game available called 501. You are competing against either a computer player or a human and you get 3 throws per turn. Both of you start at 501 and you have to count down to exactly 0. So if on the first dart, you hit a triple 20, second dart you have a single 20, and third dart, you hit a 17, then that round, you scored 97 so 97 will be taken off your score. You must end the game on a double in order to win which increases the difficulty. So for example, if you need 20 to win, you cannot simply hit 20 to win. You would do something like hit a 10 and then a double 5. Or 16 and then a double 2. The game is quite accurate and fun. You'll be honing your breathing technique to just hit that triple 20. And when you hit, it feels like you earned it. When you miss, you'll feel like you did pull the dart at the end of your throw. But because the only darts game is 501, you end up not having to aim for the bulleye because a triple 20 is worth more than the bulleye. So you'll be staring at triple 20 an awful lot. Sure you can go for 50 in the bulleye and if you miss, you'll get 25. But go for the triple 20 and if you miss, you'll get 20. Higher risk but higher reward.

The minigame included on the disc is Pop Darts. This is like your carnival game. You have a spinning board with balloons that you have to pop. There is a person attached to the board which you are not supposed to him. It's basically a speed game where you have to be accurate. The other minigame is called Smart Darts and this is a lot of fun (but then again, I'm a geek). Smart Shots is an awesome darts game. If you've played Brain Age or Body and Brain, you'll feel right at home. They'll show a simple math equation that you have to solve, e.g., 2 + 3 = ?. So after you solve the equation, you have to find and then hit that number on the dartboard. So if they say 40 / 2, you have to hit 20 on the board. It's a timed event so you have to work fast. This is a great challenge game and is fun because it requires quick thought, quick identification of the number on the board, and then accuracy in hitting the target.

The game of golf is a lot of fun. The only negative is you cannot play a full 18 holes. Then again, the 9 holes game does take awhile to finish. Your options are the front 9 holes, a 3 hole match, or a single hole match. You can change clubs, view the hole, change the direction of your shot, etc. It's a lot of fun. The computer will pick the club it feels is most appropriate for the shot but you can change it any any time. The voice commands work great for this. You can raise your hand to your eyebrows which will let you see a bird's eye swooping view of the hole, just like on TV. While in your golf swing stance, you can walk forward or backward (not actually toward or away but rather on a horizontal line from the TV) to change the direction of your swing. You can even crouch like a golfer to see the terrain better but it's more cute than useful. When they kick in the wind, the graphics make it look like a hurricane which is funny. The drives feel good. The putts feel good. Just a solid game if you like golf. You will definitely want to play more aggressively than the computer's suggested shot, especially on the dog legs.

The minigames include Ocean Driver and Champion Chip. Ocean Driver comes on the disc. You have to drive the ball to a bulleye on an island and the closer you get, the more points you get. This one is not as interesting as Champion Chip. Champion Chip is obtained via the Kinect Sports: Season Two Challenge Pack #1 download. Champion Chip is a golf minigame and is akin to hitting a bulleye target. Surrounding the putting hole is concentric circles. The closer you get to the hole, the more points you score. When you exhaust your supply of golf balls, the game is over. If you get a hole in one, they'll give you bonus balls. This was a lot of fun. Makes for great challenges as well.

Skiing is actually one of my favorites. It's very fast and intense. To have a fast start, you strike your arms down as if planting your poles to push off. If you ski in the crouched position, you'll ski faster so this event almost becomes a constant squat exercise. To steer, you lean to the appropriate site. At first I was fighting the controls but when I realized how it works, it became very accurate. The trick is to follow the terrain and not have big leans. When I figured out when you need big leans and when you need little leans, racing became easier. Most of the curves are banked. So if the curve is sloping rightward, don't lean right heavily or you will careen to the right because the slope is already pushing you rightward. If the curve is heading to the right but you want to head leftward, you will have to lean more heavily because you are working against momentum and gravity. To jump, you jump when you are in the green zone of the ramp. This is an awesome multiplayer game.

Cool Ringings is a skiing minigame where you ski down the slope but there are cow bells at various positions on the course. You have to reach out your hand to ring the bell. The more bells you ring, the more points you get. So you'll be reaching left, right, and up to hit bells. It's a timed event so you have to run the course fast but you have to hit bells to score points. This was so good fun. If anyone played the roller coasters in Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do, it feels like that, but I would rate this higher because it's easier to control and you feel like you're more in control of the event.

For tennis, at first I didn't like it. I thought it was a copy of table tennis in Kinect Sports 1. But the more I played it, the more I enjoyed it. I don't know if I like it more than table tennis. But it is some good fun. Note that if you are used to playing table tennis in KS1, you will have to adapt as the play is different. I still don't know how to do fast serves in tennis whereas it was very easy for me to slam serves in table tennis.

Rapid Returner is a tennis minigame, and it is like the rapid event in Table Tennis for Kinect Sports 1. It's okay, but I preferred the frantic nature of the table tennis event in KS1. It's not a bad event by any means but it pales compared to the aforementioned activity.

Now, Kinect Sports Season 2 has a feature that no other Kinect game has. In addition to the online multiplayer, it has a feature called challenges. This is where you select a minigame or event and you challenge someone over it. For example, if I challenge my friend in Smart Darts and I score 56 seconds, my friend has to beat that time to win or else I win. This doesn't have to happen in real time which is a boon. Let's say you and your friend cannot schedule time to play against each other online (family commitments, work, etc.). Now you can play against each other at different times of the day. It's like the leaderboards but it's more interactive and specific.

Now that the events and minigames have been discussed, I'd like to wrap up with my thoughts on the game. Once you figure out how to use the voice commands, they become a nice perk to the game, especially in golf and football. You'll end up using voice for some things, hands for other things. The graphics are beautiful. The resolution seems higher. Colors just pop. You'll see beautiful courses in golf. The sensation of speed in skiing is awesome.

The big question is: is it better than Kinect Sports 1? No. If you had to only own 1 Kinect Sports title, it should be Kinect Sports. That aside, is Kinect Sports Season 2 worth owning? I give an emphatic YES. This is a great game on its own. It's just that KS1 is amazing. And if you like any of the events in KS2, you have to have this game. Golf alone will be a decider for people that like golf. I love the darts game, and now I no longer have to have holes in my real wall from my errant dart shots. The challenges let you play against your friends without the worry of whether you can coordinate and schedule times to play against each other. Without the Kinect Sports: Season Two Challenge Pack #1, I would've been disappointed in this title because the title appeared to be lacking in content. But with the DLC, it became a bigger game and thus worthy of our attention.

They are still intent on releasing new DLC (downloadable content) to keep the game fresh and judging by Rare's past history, they will support Kinect Sports Season 2 until the end. The next DLC will give you 9 new holes in golf.

Honest reviews on Kinect Sports Season Two

There are so many Kinect games that need space to fully enjoy them. I've been disappointed with many titles because you're required to move too much in space I don't have. The Nyko Zoom ended up being a flop, and didn't correct the problem for people like me who have limited space.

So, I pre-ordered Kinect Sports Season Two and tried it out. First, I was impressed by the fact that you really don't have to flail your arms, move from side to side, and back and forth. The tennis is the best tennis on any motion controlled system, in my opinion. I especially liked that I could take a small step forward before I swung to fire a return shot or swing my arm from high to low to lob the ball. I thought this was very clever, and felt the Kinect was very accurate with this. I then played football for a couple of hours, and can't understand all the hate. The football is really fun. You squat to get ready, and stand up to have the ball snapped. There are 6 plays, and you throw the ball when one of the receivers turns green. A couple of times, I threw to an open receiver, but the Kinect sensor threw it to a different receiver who wasn't open, but this was rare. I then just had the coach to pick to expedite the play, and get back into the action. Once you throw the ball, you are the receiver and have to run in place. You can't juke, or run faster, but it didn't bother me, because I was getting a workout. The other best game in my opinion is skiing. You start out by squatting, and can move left or right by leaning with your upper body in the direction you want to go. The skiing is the best skiing I have ever played including the Wii, which is also a great skiing experience. Golf was also a lot of fun, but mostly I played the minigame, in which you can get 1, 2, or 3 points by aiming your shot. I found the minigames on all the sports to be entertaining.

I got this game only yesterday night and have been playing it non stop for a few hours. Did I say I got it for 15$ only from Walmart? ;)

I must say Kinect Sports Season 1 was epic in many ways, first it has more action and being the first of its kind it grabbed more attention and raised the bar really really high and sadly the second edition do not cross that bar.

But the franchise maintains the "fun factor" which I think soul for this game. A lot of us watch these great sports on TV and wish we had such skills and Kinect Sports touches that emotion with a lot of FUN factor. Player's lack of skill is pushed by technology and it gives you that sweet illusion of being a great athlete ;) that is why I play these games.

It has less events than the actual KinectSeason 1 coz it had Track and Field which it self contained lots of events.

Now for the games

1) Baseball Its quite fun. Honestly it took me some time to master the perfect swing but once you know the lag and trick its lot of fun. I am big fan of cricket so I liked this game very much though its not any where near to the great sport but at least it has a bat to hit the ball ;)

The play is nice, you would enjoy pitching too though fielding/catching is not much fun, it's filled with tones of prompts and it makes it very easy for a player. I wish there were settings to turn off these annoying suggestion coz once you play it for a couple of hours you would like to ramp up the game.

2) Dart Oh boy, it is a lot of fun. I imagined it as a filler event but it is not. Its lot more fun than what I expected it to be. The sensor tracks slightest movement tries to make it as much real as it can. Unlike other games where you wild hand movement will not affect results e.g. boxing/base ball pitching etc... This game tracks your move carefully which gives it a close to reality touch. Its fun especially when played in group. Coz it's one of the game night/day outing sport which a lot of us might have tried in real life like Bowling in season 1.

So you have a good idea of how game would work in real life. I am pleased with the way they have done this event.

**** / 5

3) Tennis Ohhh it is a good burner. You won't notice but if you play it for a while you will actually end up burning lots of calories. I loved it. Yes it not accurate you don't get to do the great base line jogs or can not run to the net and give a slice but its still fun. Coz the computer makes it lot more fun for you. Cross the first level and then game will be fun. You will end up having long rally nicely supported by crowd and pitching sound effect. You will really feel you are involved in the arena for a minute. I bet you will raise your hands out of pleasure / frustration a couple of times when you play with pro level. Its fun.

Though it's missing the volley, base line slogs, net plays etc... The real fun of tennis game but it's still enough engaging and will entertain you like anything.

The calories burnt number will pump you up for sure.

The trick, like Table tennis from first version is not to imagine your hand/palm as racket. Keep your hand in position as if you are holding one and see the top spine and slice shots, its fun.

4) Golf

The only gold I have enjoyed is the mini golf on family outing. So I do not have great knowledge about this game. But it is fun. Though Kinect the swing speed and hand movements are not taken in to consideration.

The trick is to play with the right club than controlling your swing speed. I observed it's more of club than the actually hand movement that makes difference.

I mean it does pick up speed of swing and all but not that well.

The game is OK. I did not enjoy it a lot for that fact I am not good at this game and do not have good knowledge about clubs etc... So I practice with multiple clubs before I go for the shot.

Again the very idea of you doing something without having a plastic in your hand is fun. But the game experience is just ok

5) Ski-

Fun fun fun. One more surprise. Like darts I thought this would be an OK game but its more fun than I thought it to be. Coz the movement that you use while playing these games are easy and you won't feel that your avatar is doing something which you did not want it to do. It does good justice to what you want to do in game. Not as realistic as Darts but way better than Golf. Its fun, you can control speed and directions by simple body movements.

You will feel in control of your avatar. Its fun

***/5

6) American football I had high hopes from this one but sadly its not as much fun as it should have been.

I watched E3 event and this looked more fun while they were playing on stage but soon you will get bored.

Only 6 plays and no single player defense not rushing... its does not do justice to the game.

Like Soccer in first season, American Football killed a great game. This could be so much better and one can do a lot of cool things with game but sadly they did not. Not fun :(

Though overall it's not bad, especially when you have spent only 15$ for this ;) but not worth its 49$ value for sure. Wait for it to get cheaper or buy a used one. This doesn't worth 49$ for sure.

And these are more of family/friends game night thing. We played like anything yesterday night and it was fun.

If you take these games too seriously then you won't enjoy it.

I agree that they are not perfect and do not do justice to the actual sport but its Kinect, made for casual, fun gaming [for now]

Amazon is selling it under 30$, its not a bad deal go get it.

I would stick give the Kinect Sports Season 1 better ratings than this.

I have been messing around trying to teach myself bass for a few years now.

My problem is that I love the instrument but playing it along to youtube or a cd gets boring after awhile. Of course I would love to join a band but as a work in a job which means I travel a lot I could never commit.

I was thinking about selling my bass and try acoustic guitar. Then a friend of mine told me about Rocksmith and the new Bass version that was coming out.

To be honest I was apprehensive, I mean plugging my bass into the Xbox? Also I wondered if it was a gimmick and it would not improve my playing at all. Lets be honest at least on Rock Band/GH the drums resemble an actual drumset the guitars do not so that wont teach you. (Not that is it meant to)

I read about lag issues and being a non techie had expected issues but no it was pretty much plug and play. I do not have a complicated set up.

I have only played it a few hours and like the events, the set lists, the downloadable content and the technique exercises.

Will it help me to play Bass? Yes for sure, it won't teach me too much theory but it will help with fingering, shifting and plucking for sure. It will also give me a lot more confidence in my playing.

I will update this review the more I play it. I wanted to give this game 5 star for any budding bassists out there who are also thinking of giving this up. Try Rocksmith first!

I originally started playing guitar when I was 12. I became fairly good at it by the time I hung it up at 17. Now, 22 years later, I purchased Rocksmith to help me pretty much start all over again.

After spending hours playing it, I can tell you, I LOVE it! The way it teaches you is awesome. Between the games and tutorials, it really helps you learn and hone your skills.

It also teaches you songs. The game gives you a few notes to begin with. It then slowly adds more as you progress, by seeing how many you can hit in a row. Before you know it, you are playing the entire song. And don't worry if you don't play for a little. It will tell you are struggling and give you less notes until you get back to where you were.

I really wish this was available when I originally started playing. It is a fantastic way to learn , or even re-learn!

So happy about this "game".

I wanted to share my experience with lag.

In the beginning, it's pretty bad if you are using HDMI. The good news is it's fixable by grabbing one of those Xbox AV splitter dongles.

I originally ran HDMI from my Xbox to my receiver then the receiver passed the HDMI video to the TV. That caused lots of audio lag with this game so I changed my set up to this. Xbox HDMI straight to TV for video. For this game I ran RCA cables from the dongle to the CD input of my receiver. Audio lag was gone after that. Now running my receiver in this mode cuts out my subwoofer. I wondered how to bring the bass back and I ended up using an ART CoolSWITCH ABY Pedal to route sound to the Xbox and my bass amp from my bass guitar simultaneously. It worked perfect with no added lag. I also use quality Spectraflex cables.

Here's the tidbit that I would add. I was worried about losing my surround set up for other games but the cool thing is that the dongle passes S/PDIF and RCA audio signals simultaneously so I just attached that to a different input of my receiver for games like BF3. Now I have the best of both worlds.

This worked great but was really made possible by the fact that I have a beast Pioneer Elite receiver with tons of connection options. Also, all cables are available really cheap on Amazon so don't stress. I also use a low-tier Harmony remote to keep track of the different settings. Finally, as I now run HDMI video straight from the Xbox to the TV, I found that the game's video lag setting is too high. I simply backed it down from 50 (MS?) to 0 and the video lag went away and I was all good.

Honest reviews on Rocksmith Guitar and Bass - Xbox 360

Rocksmith is a pretty awesome tool for guitarists of all levels. I consider myself an intermediate guitarist. I am self-taught and mostly play acoustic/fingerstyle guitar. I caught Rocksmith on sale and decided to pick up an electric guitar to give it a shot. So far, I am not disappointed. The games main premise is to teach you songs. Learn the songs on a real guitar, score high enough and you unlock rewards and even more songs.

PROS:

+Rocksmith magically adjusts to match your skill level. It catches on pretty quickly to how many notes or chords you can handle. You never have to worry about never getting to the end of the song because Rocksmith constantly adjusts the song difficulty.

+Different rehearsal modes help master songs. I really enjoy the riff repeater feature. It takes a section of the song and you can either play the section slowly, gradually picking up speed each time you complete the section perfectly. My favorite is the Leveler mode. Each time you complete the section, it adds on more notes until you reach 100% mastery. If you feel that rehearsal mode doesn't give you enough credit in attempting more complexity you can manually adjust the settings in riff repeater.

+Song selection is varied. While i'm not familiar with a lot of the songs, it was a great way to get to know other genres of music and gain appreciation for them. I think for added variety they can add some jazz and blues types of songs.

+Virtual amp & cable: You only get one tone until you start unlocking custom tones and other gears. The virtual amp is pretty awesome and is one of the biggest reasons I invested in Rocksmith. I didn't want to invest in an amp, and for a beginner, I think what Rocksmith has to offer is more than adequate. Once you start unlocking gear, you can mess around and create your own tones. Score high enough on songs and you get that song tones as well. The cable is cross-platform so you can also turn your PC into a virtual amp if you have the right software.

TO BE IMPROVED I found the game really innovative and interesting that it's difficult to really find anything that I absolutely didn't like. Here are a few points that could be improved upon, though.

-Rhythm/Strumming There is zero instruction on rhythm and strumming patterns. Beginning guitarists will have to go elsewhere to learn how to create appropriate strumming patterns. For strumming sections, you can get away with all downstrokes.

-Finger placement I think that Rocksmith could have easily added an option to display suggest finger placement on the fretboard. It already shows you, quite uselessly with fingerprints, that you should move your finger from one fret to another. However, it doesn't suggest which ones.

-Guitarcade Guitarcade is a bit of a letdown. Some of the games can be useful tools such as Ducks/Superducks which lets you practice finding the right note on the fretboard. however, for many of the games, they are just that, games. I think there could have been more added value with a bit more focus on learning or another mode that was focused on learning scales/chords rather than playing (yes, I know it's a game).

-Audio latency This really wasn't such a huge issue for me since I knew about it beforehand. We have HDMI audio set up and there is a pretty significant delay from when you pluck a note and when you hear it from the speakers. We left our HDMI set up as is and plugged into the standard audio port of the Xbox 360. When I play Rocksmith, I mute our HDMI audio and just use the audio coming out of the regular port through a separate set of speakers or headphones. Our HDMI set-up is still in tact and we don't deal with latency issues. It's not a huge deal to get around but for some of you may have to go a little out of your way to get it to work.

-Visual display The Rocksmith display is innovative but as someone with a bit of experience reading music and tablature, it was confusing. Standard tab is read so that you look at the tablature or chord diagram and then project it onto the guitar fretboard. The Rocksmith display, however, is read as if the notes are coming towards your guitar. This may be simple for absolute beginners but for guitar tab readers, it looks backwards/upside down and downright confusing. There is an option to invert the display so it more closely resembles tab (high e-string on the top rather than the bottom. Honestly, I recommend that you immediately start playing the game with the inverted setting as it will be easier to read standard tab when you want to play outside of Rocksmith.

On top of that, the display moves around unnecessarily at times and can be a bit disconcerting or distracting.

-Tuner Before every song, the game asks you to pluck each string so it can check the guitar's tuning. Unless it's absolutely off, it really won't care or ask you to adjust the tuning. It's a pretty useless and tedious feature since it doesn't really check for precision. I recommend using the built-in precision tuner or your own guitar tuner at the start of each game session to ensure that your guitar is well-tuned.

Conclusion

If you really want to give guitar a shot, this isn't a bad way to start out. Rocksmith has its faults but it can be a really great tool for learning songs. I want to remind buyers that is a game/tool. There are still a lot of missing elements that you won't get from Rocksmith (like how to strum a guitar) but for it provides, it's an excellent practice and learning tool, especially if you want to simulate playing guitar in a band-like environment.

If it's important to you, I am using a short-scale Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar (Black Night). If you also get a cheap guitar to play Rocksmith, I recommend getting it profesionally set-up as having good intonation is key to playing this game. Out of the box, the guitar did not work that great with the game. After getting the intonation fixed, it works like a charm with the game.

Bought rocksmith just out of pure interest of the concept. I really enjoy it, the game is not easy, learning an instrument is never easy but it is fun and a cool change from using sheet music and scales. The free play mode is worth buying alone it lets you use all of the different FX pedals and equipment right on your Xbox (instead of buying all the expensive real equipment) so once again for $30 buy this game

BTW the game does come with one cable.

I am posting because I was looking for a comparative review between the Astro A50s and the Turtle Beach Tango before I went out and bought one and I couldn't find one. I saw gamers here waiting for a similar review so I decided to do one. This isn't a professional comprehensive review this is just my take and how I ended up with one over the other. I am not saying which you should buy I am just noting my opinion. IF you have either one of these headsets then you have a great headset and you will be very happy. For me there were some things that stood out over the other and because of that I was able to make my decision and I feel I made the right choice!

So I picked up both the Astro A50s and the Turtle Beach Tangos to test out. I used each one for about two days on various games and tried all the features to help me decide which of these 300 dollar headsets I wanted to keep.

In the end I felt the Tango's are well ahead of the Astro A50s in terms of awesome features like software to create user custom EQ presets for audio or chat, surround angles, removable microphone and Bluetooth, which makes it compatible any Bluetooth device like a real headset. The sound quality on both the A50s and Tango are great so any edge the A50s may have isn't enough to lose out on all the features the Tango's give you. Honestly even if the Astro A50 were $100 cheaper I would still opt for the Tango's. The Astros just don't have enough features, and with no Bluetooth you have to use them with the transmitter only. The Tango's have incredible features and since I can use them with my Vita, smartphone and tablet I feel has more use and therefore a better value.

I am not a fanboy I have wanted the Astros for a long time, when the A50s came out I decided to make the plunge, I was a bit disappointed which lead me to try the Tangos. Between the two the Tango's are it. Turtle Beach really made an awesome headset that is packed full of gaming features and is comfortable and stylish. The Astro A50s are bare bones compared to the Tango and the lack of features and comfort does not make up for the slight sound difference.

So on to it!

Setup: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50: It wouldn't power on via the PS3 Slim USB port. I had to go online and install a firmware for both the headset and the transmitter. Once I did that it worked somewhat. Every time I would power off the PS3 and power it on again the transmitter would not come on I have to keep switching USB ports to get it to turn on. Not what I want to do for a 300 dollar set of headphones. Also you have to turn on both the headset and transmitter manually. No charge and play cable so I had to wait for it to charge before I could use it (I didn't have a long USB)

Turtle Beach Tango: No issues. When you turn on the headset the transmitter turns on automatically small but great feature. The Tango's also came with a long charge and play cable.

Sound : Verdict: Astro A 50 (but only by a slight edge)

Astro A50:

Very nice, warm deep rich sound. I wouldn't say I was blown away but they were nice. They have a bit more bass and volume then the Tangos.

Turtle beach Tango:

As with the Astro I wasn't blown away but again these sound great. The Tangos produce a different sound from the A50s, they aren't as warm but they do seem to have great clarity and still sound very awesome.

Surround Sound: Verdict: TIE

Both do surround sound and both sound awesome, listing to both I am happy with either one. The A50s do 7.1 the Tango's do 5.1. I don't think you need 7.1 as most movies and games aren't even in 7.1 and really that is more used for bigger spaces. Also the 7.1 is almost too much for headphones and can make it a little harder to pinpoint direction like footsteps you still will be able to great it just may be a little less accurate. 5.1 are plenty for headphones and you will be able to pinpoint better in my opinion. So for surround sound, they are both great!

Surround Sound Angles: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50: none

Turtle Beach Tango: 6 surround angles. This is a very cool feature that lets you select 6 different surround angles,. The angles are basically simulating different distance and angle setups for the front and rear speakers and it works well. I use setting 5

Comfort: Verdict: Turtle Beach Tango; Feels great even with extended gaming.

I wore both headsets for extended periods of gaming

Astro A50:

They are a heavy headset. The ear cushions feel great no issue at all however the head strap felt uncomfortable after about 40 minutes due to the weight and was definitely noticeable. After longer game time I started adjusting the position of them on my head.

Turtle Beach Tangos

They have memory foam, are lighter and they did not get uncomfortable at any time of extended gaming, they never got heavy feeling.

Presets EQs: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50s: Have 3 presets

Out of the 3 presets only number 3 sounded great, the other two I doubt I would use they just didn't sound that different yet they weren't as good and the volume was weaker.

Turtle Beach Tangos: Have 9 presets:

I use number 4 and it sounds great. Each preset sounds different from each other. There are presets to focus on footsteps, action, chat you name it.

Customizable EQ: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50: no option for user generated EQ settings, the 3 presets is what you are stuck with

Tangos: Has an awesome feature and software that allows the user to create customized EQ presets for audio and chat. The online community will even upload presets specific for various games. Treyarch even has a preset specific for COD Black Ops 2.

Microphone: Verdict: Tangos

Astro A50: The microphone is hardwired to the headset so you can't remove it. This concerns me because if there is ever an issue with the MIC you will need to pay to ship it to Astro to have them repair it. To mute the Mic you have to flip it up, to un-mute you flip it back down so this will be getting plenty of wear. I do not like the idea of not having a removable Mic and I don't like having to flip it up and down to Mute and Unmute.

Tango: Has a super bendy removable microphone which is nice, if I ever need a new one I can just order it and put it on myself. To mute the microphone there is button you press which I prefer. I can also remove the mic if I am just streaming music or using it with my tablet or vita.

Chat clarity: Verdict: Tie

Both sounded great

Chat Presets: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50: None.

Tango: 9 chat presets, some even alter the voice pitch. Again you can create custom ones if you want.

BlueTooth: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50: No Bluettoth feature at all. You have to use these headsets with the transmitter or they will not work on their own. You can run a wire to the back of the transmitter from a headphone jack of something like an Ipod but you need to stay connected to the transmitter.

Tango: Bluetooth on the headset. You can connect two Bluetooth devices at once so you can answer or make a call while gaming or even stream music. You can also use the headphones as a real stand along headset with a tablet or smart phone or even a Vita. This feature alone gives me so much value out of the Tango headphones. The Tango's can be used for any Bluetooth device and doesn't need to have the transmitter in range, they can be used as independent headphones I can take them to work if I want and stream music from my smartphone.

Style: Verdict : Tango

Astro A50: The head set is nice but the stand looks cheap and doesn't form fit the headphones very well. I actually thought it looked bad on the stand, lots of dead space and kind of just hangs there.

Turtle Beach Tango: Looks great, the stand is the transmitter and fit the headphones. It looks awesome with the orange trim on both the headphones and transmitter.

Connection

No issues on either one, no static or pops. Both use the 5ghz band

Ordered these on October 25th 2012 and they were released on the 26th for shipment. Being that was a Friday the 1 day business shipping didn't get them to me until the 29th as expected. First impressions: These appear to be MUCH better made than my Turtle Beach x4's that they are replacing. They are solid, appear to be made of good material and have a nice feel to them. Included in the box were the headset, transmitter, Bluetooth chat puck, (1) optical cable & (1) USB power cable (The transmitter is powered by a USB power cable & does not plug into an outlet but into your Xbox), (1) short USB cable to plug into the headset for charging purposes when sitting on the transmitter, & (1) long USB cable to charge & play. The headset is factory paired with the Bluetooth puck so no set up required. Just hook up the transmitter with the two cables to the Xbox and go. WOW! Sound is amazing. 100% better than my x4's. They are paired with the transmitter via dual channel wireless where my x4's were infrared. IR required line of site & anybody or anything (my very large Weimaraner) walking between you and it would cause static or fallout of sound. There is NO problem like that with the Tango's. Sound is very crisp with no static, hum, popping or fallout. Since Black Ops II isn't out yet I fired up Modern Warfare 3. FANTASTIC! These things flat out ROCK!!!!! There are a number of presets built into the headset for different sound profiles that can be accessed by just a button push. These cover both chat & game sounds. It appears you can even program your own which I will try at some point. I have been using the presets but will experiment with all of the available options later. Also another very cool feature is the Bluetooth is dual pairing which means you can pair it with another Bluetooth device. I paired it with my Samsung Galaxy S III with no problems which enabled me to listen to my music while playing the game and chatting. How cool is that!!! Also supposed to be able to use your phone to make & receive calls while playing. Have not tried it yet but see no reason it wouldn't work since the music does. My son has Astro A40's and these beat them hands down. They also make my TB x4's seem archaic. If you are an Xbox gamer & and can afford them then I don't think you will be dissapointed.

PROS: Too numerous to list! Best headset I have ever used or owned.

CONS: None at present except maybe price. But I guess you get what you pay for.

Ok so this is my third headset, the others are Turtle Beach X12 and Tritton 720+ (I highly recommend both of those).

After getting tired of seeing "OMG this headset sucks it has such a low volume" I have to make an update and put it first

THIS HEADSET HAS PLENTY OF VOLUME

USE THE ADVANCED SOUND EDITOR PEOPLE!! THIS IS WHY ARE YOU PAYING SO MUCH MONEY FOR THIS HEADSET

Pros

-Sound Quality is great, in MW3 I could easily tell where the enemies were. I'd give these 9.5 and Trittons 720+ 8.5

-Advanced Sound Editor (ASE), make all the adjustments you want to your audio and chat. With a lot of room for presets.

-Mic is 10/10 just like the X12

-Very nice design

-Wireless with no interference at all, everything works great

-Voice morphing, yeah, this may be stupid and unnecesary but it can be real fun, you can make tons of jokes with this option

Cons

-Sound out of the box is meh, you have to go the ASE to get great sound quality

-"EAR GUARD" THIS IS WHAT MAKES THE HEADSET TO HAVE "LOW VOLUME", YOU CAN TURN IT OFF IN THE ADVANCED SOUND EDITOR! DOWNLOAD THE MANUAL FROM TURTLE BEACH WEBSITE

-The most disappointing thing for me is that they do feel a bit cheap not what I would expect from a $300 headset, To me the X12 and Trittons are way better in this category, both feel more resistant to falls and everything

-Optical cable, it is sooooo slim but I guess this isn't a big deal...

-Price is a little high since they feel cheap and the sound out of the box is not what you would expect

I had to return these because I had some problems (sound would cut off for 5 seconds from time to time and it would make a distorted noise in the right earcup every 10 mins approx)

Even with the problems I had with the Tangos I would say this is a nice headset (although a bit pricey imo) and probably better than the Astro A50 (I am sure my Tangos were one of the very few that were defective, but the A50 it seems like 50% are good and 50% are defective) and from what I've seen all over the internet the Warheads sound is somewhat mediocre for $300.

UPDATE 01/25/2013

After trying the old Astro mixamp with the Sennheiser PC 360 (which, lucky me, they were defective too) I am back with the Tangos.

I wanna say the old mixamp is really good imo.

The Sennheiser PC 360 are beautiful for music but in games I don't know if it was because they were defective or I had to get used to their sound (like it happened to me going from TBs X12 to Tritton 720+) but it was harder for me to hear footsteps, I am not quite sure as I just tried them for a few hours.

Anyway, I am back with the Tangos and I am pretty happy with these, no defects so far, everything works great as I was expecting. This is the best headset for gaming I have tried so far.

If you can get them for $199 that is a great price or even $249 would be fair imo.

Honest reviews on Turtle Beach Call of Duty: Black Ops II Tango Programmable Wireless

I've had both the A50s and the new Tangos. Sound quality is close probably favors the A50 ever so slightly but the other features pushes the Tangos way ahead

I received these headphones in good shape. I have been using them for about 30 hours and have had no issues. They are much more comfortable than the XP 500s. Also, there is absolutely no cracking of connection and in fact I was able to wear the headphones and still talk and hear game play while two rooms away from the receiver, still no crackiling or cutting out.

Voice is clear and concise and I was able to hear my music through BT while playing without any problems. This is a expensive headset, but extremely worth it. I have not tried voice morphing or manipulating any of the sound functions through the computer.

Pros:

Sounds Quality

Presets

Range

Voice Quality

Comfortable (caveat: ears were sore after 8 hrs of straight game play, but any headset would be at that point)

Detachable mic

rechargeable battery

battery life

Con(s):

Pricedefinitely takes a while to save up for them

lack of carrying case

Warm around the ears

top of the head can get sore from the weight

***Update 8 NOv 2012***

Was able to chat with the wife while gaming. I was interested to see if the voice morph would work just with regular cell phone usage. It did and it was pretty damn funny, think it was preset 8...start laughing and it gets the creepy demon like laugh. Wife didn't care for it too much though :)

Bummed...order this early and pay 299.99, now it is 269.99.

This game kicks ass. it is the only baseball game i like and i have played them all. You get to manage your team trade players for better ones and hire free agents wich are really good for trading. Once you get a guy on fire by strong pithching or good batting he can throw faster hit farther and run faster which is a really good deal. Everytime you throw five strikes you get a special which are pitches like the whammy or the volcnao and are really good for striking out the batter. So overall this game ROCKS.

I bought this game since it was one of my favorites as a child. The game came in great condition and was a good price. I would recommend this gamers that play older video games.
