Just picked this title up as there are no other chess games available for the Xbox360! First off, the game is not user friendly, you can't make hardly any adjustments to the look of the game play (remove hints, only 3 piece styles, etc.... The fighting "battle" mode is COMPLETELY LAME and almost unplayable!! There are no mentor/teaching modes available in the game. No chess library for playing through classic games etc, it's like the dynamics of chess wasn't even really addressed or though of when they designed this turkey!...overall it is a LAME game title. If you're a chess enthusiast, PASS on Battle Vs Chess! Save your money for a REAL chess game for the Xbox360, IF they ever release one, that is!:-(

This is a preliminary review, but I wanted to share some first impressions. First of all, although the disc & packaging says PAL (European) only, it works perfectly well in an American Xbox 360 -provided parental controls are disabled or set to allow M+ rated games. It's the same game as Check VS Mate [Download], but it's unclear when if ever it will be released with that title for Xbox 360 in the US. My advice is to go ahead and get this international version if you want to play on your console.

There is a LOT of game modes/features and variations for both single-player and multiplayer. Here are some examples:

* Classic game (just thought I'd mention it in case people think there isn't "normal chess"). Still, classic game has some innovative options for placement such as "Randomized" (for major pieces only), "Tactic" (AI has presets, player has control), "Madness" (all pieces' placements randomized), "Recruit" (point values of pieces, random number and type), and "Madness + Recruit." There are 6 options for boards/settings, and 10 options for AI difficulty.

* Battlegrounds "Slasher" (3rd person action) & "Duel" (2-D side view beat-em-up). I haven't tried them out but the rules and "how to play" appear different for the different modes, so it's likely more than just the perspective difference.

* Minigames Treasure Hunt, Puzzles (various types, lengths, and difficulties)

* Campaign Mode Missions for the Order or Chaos armies (puzzle-like challenges)

* Multiplayer features There is a lot here: Local ("Head-to-Head"), Xbox Live, and System Link multiplayer. Modes include Classic, Reserve (captured pieces join your side), Suicide (goal is to lose all your pieces), Double (move 2 pieces in a turn; "Marseillais" variant, Duel. There is also a "Fog of War" option.

* Tutorial I haven't tried it, but the topics are basic (i.e., how the various chess pieces move). I was kind of hoping for something akin to Majestic Chess (Jewel Case). The Campaign Mode (see above) sort of approximates an adventure game, but it's not instructive like Majestic Chess.

The animations, etc. are very impressive (miles better than Majestic Chess, which I mentioned above), and I'd strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoys puzzle or board games.

Worked great! Installed jungle flasher on my laptop, and I was good. You'll need a way to power the device during this. Don't use the xbox360!! I used "AGT External 110V Power Supply 12V DC 4-Pin Molex SATA Adapter Cable" or you can use a molex from your desktop. If you don't have a dektop computer or don't know what a molex is, get the Exteral power supply.

This is a great tool. For all of you guys wondering it comes with everything you need except a molex power supply (you can use your motherboard but its a lot easier with the molex adapter). It works great and haven't had any issues. Thanks!

Digimon Rumble Arena 2
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

When i played the first Digimon Rumble Arena on Playstation it was fun. Then i found out they made a second one and found it. It is a basic fighting game with one button presses for powers. The problem is that the game could be too simple even for a group fighting genre. Smash Brothers require a timed button press to do super attacks. This has no such thing. All characters control about the same. There are some who are faster and others who are stronger.

I must admit it is nice to see more forms like rookie, champion and mega. There are a lot of characters to unlock, but the end boss isn't cheap as the first one. You can beat the game on easy or hard and still enjoy the combat. Megas are fun to play with and almost the whole cast is there. The graphics are a little better, but not by much. I must say something is missing on this game, but I can't put my finger on it. I think the game becomes fun when you play with four players, but I would not know because I can never get no one to play with me. :(

Buyer beware, only buy this game if you are a Digimon fan or liked the first rumble arena. If not, it will collect dust just like your other Gamecube games.

If this game was called Metal Gear Solid 5: Peace Walker, I would not hesitate to call it that. This game is astounding. It's a technical marvel. A feat on portable platforms. There was not a single time where I said I wanted this game to be on a console. In fact, if this was on a console and cost $60, I would buy it in a heartbeat. From the gameplay, to the graphics, to the sound, to the length of the story, this is a huge console adventure, right in the palm of your hand. It's absolutely amazing that so much could be crammed into a little disc. I still can't get over it.

Unlike Portable Ops, the controls did not hinder the gameplay. Apparently, the developers learned from their mistake and made the controls work. Not once did I wish for a second analog stick. It works. It's Metal Gear Solid on a handheld. No exceptions. Do you remember the ability to recruit soldiers and use them in Portable OPs? Well, that's now more streamlined, it's improved, and overall more enjoyable. Knock out a soldier, hook a Fulton Recovery System balloon onto him, and continue your mission. No more dragging across the map anymore. Just pop on on there and continue your mission. When you go back to your Mother Base (GEE I WONDER IF THIS COULD BE THE START OF OUTER HEAVEN) you can put them in different units (such as combat and engineering) to have them do missions or build weapons or do other things of great wonder. However, you mainly want to build up your engineering (called R&D) sections. This is highly improved, because instead of getting random weapons ever so often like in Portable Ops, you choose which weapons to develop, and you can upgrade them. You can even upgrade your items, like your sonar system and Fulton Recovery System. It's awesome, useful, and you actually want to spend the time to upgrade it. And not only do you have this wildly improved Portable Ops system, but you have the main story missions, which are on-par with the likes of any of the console predecessors, and you have side-missions as well, which you can complete at any time. Let's just say this game will last for a long, long time.

The graphics are without a doubt amazing. I honestly kept forgetting I was playing a handheld. There is a ruddy texture or two, but let's cut the PSP some slack, eh? The graphic novel cutscenes are not only well done, but they fit the game. They don't feel out of place. Also, there are quicktime events inside the graphic novel cutscenes, which are beautifully animated. Also, did I mention the quicktime events don't suck? They're (shock and awe) fairly exciting, and do not seem forced at all.

The sound is also wonderfully done. Usually, I hardly ever pay attention to the sound when playing handhelds, because it usually ranges from 'alright' to 'mediocre'. Or maybe I don't even notice it at all. Well, I did this time. Do yourself a favor, play this with headphones. You won't regret it.

Storyline is your typical Metal Gear Solid fare: unmanned robots, nuclear weapons, Snake grunting in agreement, remembering the basics of CQC, etc. For those of you who have played Metal Gear Solid from the beginning will enjoy many plot points that tie in various people and objects from different games. Overall, very enjoyable, but I presume many will prefer the story lines from the console brethren.

I have only one gripe with this game: co-op. Now, usually, I would be extremely happy with having co-op for the game, but the developers put so much emphasis on co-op that some missions nearly require it, even if they don't say so. This can lead to frustration, but it is not impossible. Prepare for some difficult times, but most of the time, you will be having a blast.

Buy this game. It's only $40. $40 for one of the best video games you can get your hands on. Do it.

"Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker" may very well be the best handheld video game I've played in my life. After ten

straight hours of complete immersion in Hideo Kojima's world of sci-fi political espionage, there is nothing that

can convince me any other game on a handheld system has presented such an epic scope, heart-wrenching story and

tight gameplay as the latest entry in the venerable "Metal Gear" franchise.

Taking place a decade after "MGS 3: Snake Eater", "Peace Walker" finds Snake, aka "Big Boss", a shell of his former

self. Sure, he's still strong, deadly and ruthless, but he's an emotional trainwreck after being forced to kill

the woman whom he loved and was trained by. Ten years still can't wipe away the pain he feels, and even distracting

himself with the private mercenary organization he's founded can't make him forget. But one fateful day, a mysterious

man and young girl come forth with a mission that involves restoring peace to Cuba. Snake initially refuses, but

when the man presents an audio tape which suggests that the woman he thought dead to still be living, he rushes headlong

into the mission, unaware of the consequences which await him. On the surface, it may seem like a simple "stop the

bad guys from nuking the world" type of plot, but fans of the series will realize that it's much more; this game is

a spiritual journey for our tortured protagonist, filled with twists and turns every step of the way.

The gameplay has gotten an overhaul from previous PSP entries of MGS, and I have to admit: it's really for the better.

Close-quarters combat (CQC) has been streamlined and assigned to one button, making it incredibly easy to dispatch

whole mobs of foes with nothing more than your fists and a quick trigger finger. Also more simple this time around

is the gunplay; no longer do you have to stand in an awkward position to get off a good shot on your enemies. Kojima

took the fast-paced gun battles of "MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots" and put them onto the PSP with no complications

whatsoever, and without anything being lost in the process.

Speaking of "MGS 4", the very thing I liked about that entry in the series is prevalent in this one as well: options.

You don't HAVE to stealthily dispatch hostiles; you can walk in with guns a'blazing, and easily get through each

section, and vice versa. There is no wrong way to play "Peace Walker", in the sense that how it's played is

completely dependent on your own playing style. I prefer the "sneak in undetected" approach, but my friend operates

by the "might makes right" strategy. We both get through each level with our respective plans, albeit with some

complications exclusive to those plans (sneaking around often involves hiding in awkward places that you can

easily get trapped in if detected; taking the forceful approach can often leave room for unseen enemies to sneak up from

behind and take you out without any warning.) But that's the beauty of this game, really: learning from your mistakes,

taking what you've learned and then applying it to the next level. Very few games have rules that are as broadly-defined

as these.

Another key strategy that will differ from player to player is the vast recruitment system. Much less convoluted than

the previous PSP entries, getting soldiers on your side is as simple as knocking them out, then strapping a

balloon harness (yes, a balloon harness) on them to be sent straight to your Mother Base, which is incidentally a

prototype for the pivotal Outer Heaven base seen later in the series. The soldiers can then be assigned to their

respective units, such as Combat or R&D, or even Mess Hall. As the game progresses, the more soldiers you have,

the more weapons and resources you'll gain. You can even play side-missions with your recruits to unlock more

weapons to aid Snake in the main story missions. Catching and training new blood adds an addictive "Pokemon"-like

aspect to "Peace Walker", one which I found myself spending a vast amount of time with.

Now, on to minor matters (sort of): graphics and sound. And folks, these are just two more of this game's good points.

How the developers got a game this beautiful and rich in detail to fit onto a UMD, I'll never know. I won't question

their magic, though, because I'm just too blown away to even consider doing anything of the sort. The quality

and effort bleeds from each micro-pixel, putting other PSP graphics darlings such as "God of War: Chains of

Olympus" to shame. Not a single time did I feel the game was constricted because of the PSP's graphical limitations.

Kojima Productions has created the single most immersing world ever rendered on a handheld.

The music is great (as per usual for the series), and the voice acting, featuring the likes of Steve Blum and Tara

Strong, is absolutely phenomenal (again, as per usual for the series). Sound effects are also great, complimenting

the graphics to form the aforementioned immersing world. After playing this game for a few hours, it's hard

to go outside and not think of the game. It's that mind-altering.

In the end, there is no reason any PSP owner shouldn't own this, unless of course you haven't played any previous

entries in the series. In that case, go back and play "MGS 3: Snake Eater" before playing. But for veterans of the

series, buy this without delay. As a longtime fan, I can firmly say this may be one of the franchise's high points,

easily topping "Snake Eater", which was previously my favorite entry until this came along. It's also the

largest in terms of content and replay value. All subsequent entries will be greatly affected by "Peace Walker", and

thus you owe it to yourself to play it.

Then again, I won't be surprised if all PSP games are greatly affected by "Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker." It reminds

me of how good the PSP can be, to be sure, but more importantly: it reminds me of just how good a video game can

truly be.

Story: A+ (Jaw-dropping, tearjerking, and pulsepounding; there's never a dull moment.)

Gameplay: A+ (As tight as the series has ever been; nothing is lost on the PSP.)

Graphics: A+ (The very best the system has to offer.)

Sound: A+ (Great music, great voice acting... Just great in general.)

Overall: A+ (One of the rare examples of a perfect game; Easily the best I've played all year.)

NOTE: I apologize for not being able to review the multiplayer; my friend lives in another state,

and this game only supports local Ad-Hoc play. I have no other PSP-owning friends (they all have

DS's, which I have one of as well), and thus can't give a review on the multiplayer. Again,

I apologize.

Best Deals for Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker

The stealth genre is an odd duck, as it is too slow paced to appeal to most action fans and too linear to appeal to most WRPG fans. There's only 3 or 4 major stealth franchises, which stop by every other year to remind us that the genre still thrives despite its niche appeal. We here in Massachusetts we have our local-favorite, the THIEF series, whose fantasy-based stealth sets it apart from fellow genre entries, and Canada brought us SPLINTER CELL, marked by the militarist protagonist Sam Fisher. Both are terrific series, but neither invoke the near-universal appeal of Japan's METAL GEAR saga, which has been re-birthing itself again and again since its debut on the MSX over 20 years ago.

Though I make an effort to remain objective, I can't seem to control myself around METAL GEAR. There's something about the series' unique combination of over-the-top political sci-fi, pitch-perfect stealth, and quirky comedy that just keeps tugging at my heartstrings (and my limited finances). I was young when I picked up METAL GEAR SOLID 2, and it was love at first sneak. I've been following the series ever since, picking up every damned release and re-release like Gibson to Salinger in "Conspiracy Theory". It is, in my opinion, the fillet of the genre.

And, with one notable exception (where my GHOST BABEL fans at?), the series' quality has floundered on the handheld. Desperate to adapt to the PSP's limitations, entries like AC!D and PORTABLE OPS did their best to shrink SOLID's pedigree to pocket-size through heavy redesign. Though the result was usually overall good, these games weren't fit to wipe the shoes of the canon console entries. Enter METAL GEAR SOLID PEACE WALKER.

PEACE WALKER succeeds not only as a canon entry to the saga's lore, but as the best of sequels do: by completely reworking the franchise. The sneaking mechanic the true heart of the game is largely unchanged (but say goodbye to "crawl"), though just about everything else has been tuned to fit portable gaming. Rather than having a continuous narrative, gameplay is broken up into chapters which are then broken up into missions. Missions vary in length usually the side missions take about 5 minutes, while story entries can take upwards of a half hour. Almost every one of these missions can be played either by yourself or with up to 3 friends. I haven't touched AD-HOC multiplayer, but it's quite clear that certain missions have been programmed with multiplayer in mind. The boss fights in particular are absolutely brutal. Much like my experience with MONSTER HUNTER, taking down these mammoth mechanical beasts took me many attempts, each swing taking around 20 minutes. It can be pretty frustrating; the boss battles are an impressive spectacle, and yet still the low-point of the game. Outside of the missions, there's a lot of micro-management to do. As Big Boss, you are charged with running MSF, and from forming and sending out small strike squads to managing your food supply, constructing your army is a significant portion of PEACE WALKER's gameplay offerings. Much like GRAND THEFT AUTO: CHINATOWN WARS' drug-running feature, managing MSF is tremendously satisfying and productive while lending itself to short-bursts of portable gaming.

I'd be happy to yammer on about how this is the best game on the PSP, the best METAL GEAR game since SNAKE EATER, and a serious candidate for GOTY, but I'd hate to risk credibility with hyperbole. Gaming-on-the-go can be a trying experience, but with PEACE WALKER, you're in good hands.

Honest reviews on Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker

A sequel to the PSP's earlier "Portable Ops", MGS: Peace Walker is a surprising technical improvement when compared against earlier games. Focusing on the management of a larger mercenary organization, "Peace Walker" still has its share of stealth-based tactical action.

Peace Walker returns to the world of Big Boss, rather than the series' usual protagonist, Solid Snake. In the period between Portable Ops and now, Big Boss has left the US government and assembled his own mercenary team, the MSF. Peace Walker centers around managing the MSF by carrying out missions, recruiting new members, developing new technologies, and building up the off-shore platform used as the MSF's main base.

Gameplay is divided into story missions (main ops) and side missions (extra ops). The main ops constitute normal gameplay, broken up into segments. The extra ops are closer to the VR missions from MGS2 short, timed scenarios with some twist or quirk to them, like "rescue the hostage" or "find the mines". Mission maps are wider and more detailed than in Portable Ops, and many missions take place in an area consisting of several connected maps, which makes the world seem larger. There are a lot of areas that are wooded or swampy, which calls back to MGS3 and its more natural environments. Another MGS3-like feature is the lack of a "standard" radar items like sonar must be equipped in the item slot and have limited battery life, making players more reliant on their own senses to spot enemies.

Managing the MSF is one of the game's major features. New recruits can be captured in the field either by subduing enemies or rescuing hostages. These recruits have a diverse set of stats, and can be assigned to different units, like combat, R&D, or intelligence in a manner similar to Portable Ops. Unlike Portable Ops, every recruit wears the basic MSF uniforms; there's no difference between capturing a guard or a sniper. Characters are instead distinguished by portraits and codenames, both of which are randomly assigned. This allows for some level of identification, although it unfortunately doesn't carry over to actual gameplay. Every character is now represented by a generic masked figure (male or female) except for Snake himself. However, there are different costumes and camouflage uniforms (all of which have masks), and the uniforms have different stealth values and inventory slots. This allows for different types of gameplay depending on the uniform selected.

Bosses come in two main types: vehicles and mechs. Vehicles consist of things like tanks and helicopters. Vehicle fights often involve supporting troops if they're out of the way, the vehicle's commander can be incapacitated or killed and the vehicle can be captured for MSF's usage. Mech fights are more traditional MGS boss fare; instead of capturing them, however, it's possible to salvage parts and AI cores to build your own mech. Both vehicles and mechs can be sent off (along with troops) to missions in other parts of the world. These "Outer Ops" are automatically resolved, but provide a way for the majority of your combat forces to get experience (since only one person can sneak at a time).

Peace Walker focuses a lot on multiplayer, as well. There's a fairly standard versus mode, but the main attraction of multiplayer is a cooperative mode. This allows for players to attempt missions, or even fight bosses, in groups of up to four. However, multiplayer is limited to nearby PSPs there's no online match-making mode or anything of the sort, despite the presence of pre-written communication (which should only really be useful if you can't talk to the person in real life). The relative rarity of the PSP means that this feature will most likely go unused.

Overall, Peace Walker does a lot of things right that Metal Gear should do right. The bosses are fun, the environments are detailed, and the controls are tight enough to not be a problem. It's not quite the second coming of MGS3, detail-wise, but it's definitely a worthy successor, considering its handheld status. The management aspect is fun and addictive, though the actual logistics of the whole thing could have used some fleshing out. Peace Walker is a solid game both for fans of the series and for those who aren't usually interested in it.

I have always loved the metal gear solid universe. I have immense respect for Mr Kojima out of all the game designers directors producers he is on top of the list he really shows that he care's for his game there's so much quality that all game developers should look at him for inspiration i did have my reservations about this one even thou i really loved the story of portable ops the gameplay i must admit just felt crap there was for me at least to much compromise with the control that it felt awkward! But Hideo has mastered the controls in this game by adding all the best bits from all the previous installments. Storyline wise it's just as good as the rest very engaging and big boss is always a pleasure to play his such a badass overall this game is a must have for any fans of the series

So I picked up Blood Stone last night and decided to keep it despite the horrible early review of 5/10 by IGN.

Blood Stone is Splinter Cell Conviction meets The Bourne Conspiracy, meets Batman Arkham Asylum. It borrows Convictions Mark & Execute feature which is granted one mark at a time by hand-to-hand combat (which is pretty satisfying by the way), and also has a lot of stealth elements. The running and takedowns reminded me a lot of Bourne, also with high octane chases and so forth. It borrows from Batman by using his Smartphone to see where enemies are on the map, with minor detective work.

I have 3 gripes with the game though:

1. It incredibly short... I beat it last night with a time of 5 hours.

2. The cut-scenes and lip synching are definitely not polished.

3. The sound is really bad; I usually have my receiver at -24 for gaming, but I had to turn it up to -18 for decent sound.

I can see why IGN was so harsh, but on the other hand I can see why Game Informer gave it 7/10. Despite the listed problem, this actually was a very entertaining game, but at the moment it's more a rental than a $60 purchase.

There are however certain areas that have polish... the hand-to-hand combat is perfect in every which way, it's very easy to silently take someone down, and the transition from gun shooting to a takedown is just as seamless as SC or UC. I thought the guns handling was awesome, and the focus mode is really easy to switch to when several guys are shooting at you.

The car chases are actually pretty decent, way better than the crap they put on The Bourne Conspiracy. You have about 4 chases and each one is unique and gives a nice break in-between stealth and gun fights.

So if anyone is on the fence in here, I would say if you love games like Splinter Cell and The Bourne Conspiracy, then you will definitely love Blood Stone. However, I honestly don't believe it's worth $60... I would either rent it, or wait for black Friday or even Christmas. I guarantee the games price will be chopped in half by then.

It's been a long time since I've played a quality Bond game. While Quantum of Solace was pretty good, the shift from first to third person was a necessary one. This game combines a fair amount of stealth with action-oriented gameplay along with vehicle sections. I had a blast playing it, trying to nab all the achievements before the game was over. The only problem I can think of is the game's length, it only took me 4-5 hours to finish on medium difficulty, but I'm sure that number would be much higher if I went back through on the 007 difficulty. Overall, a quality title that's worth any gamer's time to play.

Best Deals for James Bond 007: Blood Stone - Xbox 360

This bond game isn't quite as good as Goldeneye for Wii or the new Goldeneye Reloaded, but this is far superior over the From Russia with Love game with Sean Connery's voice. That game was for 10 year olds. BloodStone isn't super advanced, but very cinematic and fun to play. Great storyline compared to other games. The game is made to be just like a movie!

Honest reviews on James Bond 007: Blood Stone - Xbox 360

Blood Stone is effectively the latest Bond movie, and if the latest Hollywood gossip is any indication, it may well be the last. After stopping a suicide bomber at the G-20 summit, Bond is tasked with capturing a suspected rogue bioweapons expert attempting to sell his knowledge on the black market.

All the main names are present. Craig and Judi Dench play themselves, and even Ben

Cooke, who doubles for Craig in the bond movies was used for character modeling, so Bond moves like Bond and talks like Bond, and Craig is great at voice acting, which any screen actor will tell you, is much harder than it seems. The audio is clear and crisp, with none of the background washout or mumbling that makes half the dialogue in a typical action game so much gibberish normally.

Graphics are tolerable, if somewhat dated. Story items are richly detailed, such as the vehciles from chases, but backgrounds and terrain are mostly faded shapes on the horizon. This problem comes and goes, but the only real downside is that the interiors are sometimes ridiculous and cartoonish in their out of whack scale and placement of cover thats supposed to be "randomly" placed furniture.

Gameplay is very ordinary. There's some stealth aspect, which is bungled for the most part, as theres no real crouch, so you're running towards an enemy rather than sneaking up on them. Run and gun is tolerable, though the over the shoulder aspect makes aiming a chore and difficult to follow at times, and h2h, which is the most stylishly done, but manages to be the least used, as unless you mess up during a stealth sequence, is rarely used outside the stealth takedowns. "Evidence Collection" is the turn of phrase for open your smartphoe and follow the markers to the plot devices, meaning there is no NPC interrogation or actual intelligence involved. Dialogue is all scripted, so the feeling of really watching a movie is so pervasive that you'll look down from time to time and wonder why you're holding that funny V-shaped piece of plastic.

At a total time investment of just under 6 hours, Blood Stone is a movie/game that might as well have "RENT" stenciled on the case. Theres a multiplayer feature, but with a style and setup as bland as plain yogurt, I can't imagine that this will be more than a flash in the pan, after people try it twice then hand it in for the Goldeneye reboot. A tolerable game with lots of flash and the normally and utterly predictable Bond plot. Worth a watch, but a buy? Not hardly.

I'll start off with this. If you loved Splinter Cell Conviction you will like/love this game.

I'm a third person shooter fan, when it comes to shooters. The game-play is similar to Splinter Cell Conviction. The controls to get into and out of cover are a little tricky to manage at first, but I was so stuck on conviction for so long I expected the same and it isn't. There is a focus fire system, similar to the mark and execute system, but the enemies have to be in front of you for it to work, unlike conviction. You can have a max of three and need to do a hand to hand take down to get one.

If your a die hard FPS fanboy,(which seems to be 99% of the xbox crowd) well you wont like it. Its the only reason I can see for the multiple negative reviews here. The driving sequences were amazingly fun, and the driving smooth, as expected from a game maker who makes racing games primarily. The graphics are a bit toned down for multiplayer, but I'm okay with that if it makes for smoother game-play, and it does. The graphics are NOT n64 quality as I've seen other reviewers compare it too, I have no idea where this comparison comes from.

My one major complaint is the complete lack of gadgets/grenades and no crouch. I can't understand how this vital feature of a partial stealth game could be missed. Standing up while going from cover to cover in the face of full gunfire made this game ridiculously difficult at times.

You use your smartphone to scan and it goes fuzzy when moving, similar to the sonar goggles of Conviction. But overll this is only my second game that I'm trying to complete the cheevo's on, the other being SCConviction. The multiplayer lobbies are still active and its possible to get the MP cheevos/trophy's as well.

Well worth the current price of $18.00, once you get over the lack of crouching in this game.

So first off, I sat down yesterday morning with my Xbox One ready to play an actual game, rather than just playing and setting up the menu's and watching movies. First game I popped in was Ryse, and may I say, although short, was very fulfilling.

The game takes you on a journey as Marius, a son of Rome who's out on a quest for vengence and glory. The combat and action are awesome, take away some minor timing queues that throw you off when trying to pull off an execution. Executions, they are ways to finish off your enemies, and by pressing the up, down, left, or right on the D-pad to choose what type of powerup you would like to have once you complete a sucessful execution (health, damage, XP, or focus). Executions are done by pressing the right trigger when you see a white or red skull over your enemy, then press the right color button (blue or yellow) when the enemy

flashes that specific color (bascially yellow is your shield and blue is the sword).

Graphics look amazing, I was very impressed by the foilage and different areas in which they take us, from the city settings, to forests, to night scapes, and so on. One thing to note, during some fights you may find yourself having issues moving the camera, as if it was stuck on a bush or building and you might get attacked off screen or don't know what queues it tells you for an execution. You fight all sorts of men, no monsters, or animals, or anything like that, just soldiers, men, people who think they are gods and so on.

Story, I really enjoyed, was a little confused at the beginning but then it smoothed itself out and brought the story around full circle, very fun. Some fights were tough, no joke, but a blast! Also, expect a twist or two, i thought I was following it, and figured something would happen, but not what did happen.

Lastly, the game does have multiplayer, however i havent even tried that yet, i apologize. I will do that later this week when my brother gets it so we can play Co-Op in the arena.

All in all, fun great game, now here is the downfall, but for me was a plus. I sat down like i said yesterday morning to play, and finished the game (on normal) last night around 8 pm. So it lasted MAYBE 10 hours, i did take 30 mins to eat lunch and dinner with my gf and a 30 min break in the middle. So maybe closer to 8 hours and yes i died on a couple fights.

Just wanted to fill you all in, sorry for the bounce around review, but i really enjoyed this game, even though it was short, i loved it. And why i liked it being short, well i have other games i want to play and when i play games i am OCD and have to finish one before i start another hah. Hope this gives you guys some insight.

Enjoy!

RYSE: Son of Rome is a GORGEOUS GAME!!! I had to say that before I even begin with this review. It seems that the "Professional"(If you want to call them that) review crews have been far too tough on a great game. I don't like when reviews contain irrelevant information like "Microsoft WAS going to make RYSE a Kinect only game" or "RYSE isn't better then this game or that game" the review should be solely based on RYSE and at this point based on it's competition of NEXT GEN games. With that said RYSE has set the BAR graphically, it was like the first time I played the original HALO on 360; what a sight to see. Now beyond the graphics YES it's similar to GOD of WAR with the button mashing and timed button pushing for executions.

They also switch things up though, you play through a horde of enemies hand to hand then you go to a arrow post to shoot an onslaught of enemies sniper style. The voice command features are pretty sweet!!! An indication on your screen will tell you the catapults are ready then you vocally YELL OUT "FIRE CATAPULTS" and the flaming boulders come flying in CRUSHING your enemies, SWEET!!!!!!! LOL Well I don't want to tell the whole game, but trust me you won't get "BORED"........"BORED" Who said that? LOL Oh and to let all the "FANBOYS" know I have BOTH XBOX ONE and PS4 so know I am not on EITHER side, just enjoying the show. Now back to the review, it's not as easy as they claim to "button smash", you have to set enemies up for dual executions and when your near the edge of a bridge your execution would change to throwing your enemy over the ledge, there is a learning curve. The gameplay is immersive you feel like your there. The sound is nice and fitting for the game, the voices sound like what we've come to look for out of soldiers of this era from 300 and other movies/tv shows.

Ryse definitely feels NEXT GEN by look and interactivity, the voice commands really add a lot to the game if you ask me. If you bought an XBOX ONE and refuse to use the kinect or voice commands then WHY even buy a next gen console? Stick to PS3 or XBOX 360 if you just want to hold a controller and push buttons. Next gen is not just beautiful images it's the KINECT 2 and VOICE RECOGNITION! Now I gave the game 5 STARS and I hope in the future this game becomes a 4 STAR game and what I mean by that is this game is the first of the next gen titles and I know there is a higher peak to what these systems can do and this is only the beginning. Also I gave my EXTRA STAR to offset these crazy 1 STAR reviews from people who don't own an XBOX ONE let alone the game RYSE! Their reviews are obvious feed back from information they have read somewhere. Finally I just want to say if you open this game up and play it and your not WOW'D then please take me to where you've been that such sights and next gen interactivity don't WOW you! LOL

Whew! After some negative reviews I was a little worried about my Ryse pre-order but I'm here to say that this game is truly a great game! Everyone already knows that the graphics for Ryse are the absolute best out there right now. The story is compelling and the gameplay is fun. I have been playing all day and haven't felt like putting down the controller yet (except to take a quick break for dinner and to write this quick review). The game is deep and offers a lot of replay value and that is before even mentioning the online gladiator mode! Do yourself a favor and pick up Ryse. You won't regret it.

If you are looking for a game that will wow your friends and family with true next gen visuals then this is your showpiece. The graphics are simply AMAZING! Each time I play this game I am in awe. It runs perfectly smooth too.

Some of the professional reviews for this game are pretty negative and I almost didn't buy it because of them. That would have been a big mistake on my part because the game is a blast to play. Yeah, you pretty much are just running around with a sword killing barbarians but is that really so different then running around with a gun in Call of Duty? I don't think so. In fact, as I play through this game it reminds me very much a Call of Duty type of game. It is heavily scripted, combat oriented game. There are even scenes where you man stationary weapons against vast hordes of enemies just like in Call of Duty.

What really shines in this game are the execution finishing moves you use in combat. There are a ton of them so you are always seeing something different. I do wish they could have come up with a better way to indicate what buttons to press during an execution besides the colored glow. Maybe make it so when your enemy is staggered that you punch in a combo like in Mortal Kombat to perform an execution. Not sure if that would work though as the battles are pretty hectic.

I am very pleased with my purchase and recommend you check this game out!

The Mega Man X Collection was fantastic. It was a port, of course, but not a bad port. Now for the PSP we receive Maverick Hunter X which is nothing more than a recreation of a Super Nintendo classic. However, it is a fantastic recreation!

In 1993 CAPCOM began the Mega Man X series, which was a more action packed beefed up version of the original Mega Man games. The series takes place in the year 21XX, about one-hundred years after the original series. A band of renegade reploids known as Mavericks are waging war with humans, and they're being led by an evil reploid (and former hunter) named Sigma. It is up to Mega Man X to lead the band of Maverick Hunters against these mavericks.

To the veterans of the original 1993 classic on the SNES, the gameplay is virtually the same. In some areas it feel too familiar as the level layouts and enemy placements and patterns are about the same. This isn't such a bad thing, of course, if you enjoyed the original game. Like most every other Mega Man game, you'll choose a level and work your way to the boss and then collect his weapon.

Bosses typically use the same pattern they did in the original. They might alter them a little, but not so much that they don't seem familiar.

The 3D graphics are incredible. The enemies, backgrounds, platforms, everything from the loveable SNES version is there, only completely rendered in 3D. You'll recognize all the foes and all the levels. It's beautiful and perfect for a handheld such as the PSP.

The music is a mixed bag It's remixed from the SNES version, but you'll either like it or hate it. Some tracks sound really good, others really don't. The ones that sound good you'll love, but the ones that don't will definitely show.

A few differences are in place. If you remember where the location of the capsules were, you might as well forget them. Capsules are--for those who are new to the series--what will give X his power ups for his legs, X-Buster, helmet and body armor. They're not in the same location as the SNES. The capsules are located in different levels, and some of the power ups you'll have to have.

A game like Maverick Hunter X isn't very long at all. Luckily, there are a few extras that are worthwhile. The story is now told in Anime cutscenes. After completing the game you'll be able to view a half-hour cutscene that gives lots of backstory to the series. Likewise, after completing the game you'll be able to play as Vile! Vile is known as one of X's adversaries, but you'll be able to play as him here. He's got some pretty cool things he can do being that he's got weapons everywhere.

However, there will be times upon playing this game where those who were practically in love with the original will probably want to boot up the old SNES original. I say go for it, to compare. It'll help you appreciate just how beautiful this game is.

This is a remake of a game done right. The way it's done is absolutely perfect and something any Mega Man X fan should invest in. Yes, it is worthwhile. Sometimes even better than the SNES original.

The Good

+Remake of one the greatest 2D side-scrollers of all time

+The gameplay is still remarkable

+It look gorgeous

+There is a lot more story told

+Neat extras

The Bad

-Some of the music isn't great

For Hardcore Fans... definitely!

I LOVE MegaMan (RockMan, actually). I bought this game expecting the story from the original SNES to still be there, just with more. What I got what a bit of a mixed bag. Good, bad, and...pretty. I'll explain in detail--

The good is that 90% of the game play is still there from the first. A few bosses, such as Spark Mandrill, have a new attack(s). Maps are about 80% the same, with a few differences, such as Capsule relocations, and major overhauls, especially in the Sigma Stages. It has a few anime cut scenes (the real 30 minute movie comes after you beat the game once), and some voices, which I hear over 14 characters voiced by just 5 actors...hm. Though greatly portrayed, X's voice gets annoying after the first 10 times of using his special weapons, as he calls it out nearly EVERY time. Despite this, the voice acting QUALITY is definetely there, and I can't think of any sub-par voice work (except I really wish the same actor from X8 did Dr. Light in this one). Vile Mode is something new to me, and I've only gone over it once, but it's a nice addition. It also comes with a demo of MegaMan Powered Up!

The Bad: The story has changed from MegaMan X1!! Sure, the premise is still there, but there are a lot of little things that happen in this game that completely compromise the future X games' story. I won't go into full detail, but I suppose my recommendation is to play the game with an open mind if you're familiar with anything before MegaMan X4. The energy bar has been reworked, and seems MUCH smaller than what I'm used to. Maybe it's just me, but it seems the charge takes a little bit longer. Other little annoyances that peeved me included suddenly-discarded power ups. Yeah, that little shooting thing you just destroyed left you an energy morsel, but when it dropped 4 pixels away from the screen, it disappeared!! I consider this more like an in-game flaw, but SOMEONE at Capcom should have done something about it...

The...pretty? Graphics, of course! The characters move very fluently, with bright, exuberant colors, and are very true to their 16-bit counterparts. The maps are also very nicely drawn, and also do the atmosphere justice, OVER the SNES one. The anime seems a bit outdated, however. There are some scenes that remind me of the slight cherub-like face of classic MegaMan yesteryear. One of my main reasons for getting this game was for the music, and it hasn't disappointed me. Well, maybe alittle. Zero's speech "theme" is played, but only for a few seconds!! The music is very nicely done, similar to X7 and Command Mission, and nearly all the themes can be identified if you've got a keen ear from X1. (On a side note, unlike the original, there is no Sound Test...at least, not that I've discovered yet)

In conclusion, it's a pretty decent game. However I will always support the SNES version, since it's story was told, and comes, first. I think with this game, Capcom proved you can improve, but not beat an original.

Best Deals for Mega Man Maverick Hunter X - Sony PSP

Capcom really did an outstanding job with this release. It features the same classic gameplay of the original and they do the original justice by enhancing the game without destroying the gameplay that makes the original such a Classic. Hardcore fans may dissaprove of the story changes but this is why in the opening sequence Capcom notes that this game is, "Based on Mega Man X" therefore they are asking the fans for permission to retell the story from the beginning and improving it with better dialog and plot developments and interplay between X and the bosses.

I played the original for a few hours from the Playstation 2's outstanding Mega Man X Collection and right after playing the original I jammed on my PSP so I could see the differences from a fresh perspective. The level changes are many and mostly minor and moving the Dr. Light capsules as well as some energy and heart tanks around made the game more challenging for those who have memorized the maps of the original. The delay in powering up the buster reported by earlier reviews was nonexistent or so minor a change I really did not notice.

As a fan of the original since the days of the SNES I was not dissapointed one bit.

This game is a really good remake of the very first Mega Man X game, with an extra treat Vile mode!

However, some of the armor capsules were moved to make things more interesting, and it tends to up the difficulty a little bit, which is not a bad thing. The biggest update to the game is the inclusion of Vile mode, which allows the player to take control of X's long time rival and borderline maverick, Vile (hence the name). Oddly enough, a Zero mode was not included. All in game dialogue is done with voice actors, which is a nice touch, and if you've played X8 or Command Mission, you'll recognize many of them.

X controls nearly exactly the same way he did in the first game, though it seems harder to obtain the hadouken in this version I kept hitting the birds, making me retry the section more than seemed reasonable.

Possibly my favorite part is Vile mode. At first, the difficulty feels extremely high, but by the end of the game, Vile seems overpowered (which is not a bad thing!). Vile does not receive upgrade capsules the way X does. Instead, he gets a speed upgrade and an armor upgrade by defeating two particular bosses. The difficulty level really seems to drop after the speed upgrade is acquired. Vile also must choose three weapons to take into a mission before he begins, and cannot change these until he returns to base. There are three weapon classes: Hand, Shoulder, and Knee, each of which have around fifteen variants, so you can customize Vile to your liking and play style. There's only one downside to Vile mode it's a little short. On normal difficulty, the final battle falls just short of epic, due to Vile being slightly overpowered. All the upgrades are scattered around yet some more from X mode, making it more fun and rewarding to go exploring. Vile also has his own stage music, which plays during almost every single level. It's a nice, aggressive tune, which fits Vile's personality perfectly and doesn't get old too quickly.

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I recently got my hands on this game, and have enjoyed it very much. The animation is well done, as is the voice-casting (which is a frequent problem in video games). Also, the Dragon World story mode is much more fun (if not a bit repetitive each time through) than Dragon Ball Z: Budokai I's.

The game has a good variety of characters, and has all of the main characters. I had hoped such villains' as Garlic Jr. would find themselves in it, but that did not happen. The gameplay is very good, the fighting is fun. The game isnt at all easy, but its not impossible. That is part of what makes this game fun. Also, this game provides an excellent selection of moves, powerups and more.

What can get a bit frustrating is trying to unlock certain special functions (fusions, breakthroughs and some ultimate attacks), which require you to go through the story mode one full time, for a chance to get what you are looking for. Since the story mode is fun, this isnt a big deal.

The World Tournament mode is fun and requires a different mindset for fighting. If you're knocked out of the ring, you lose, so you have to avoid edge and maybe even try and knock your opponent out, and get a quick victory. The prize money for coming in first or second can be used to purchase new techniques in the skill shop. The game also includes duel mode (a one on one battle with any character) and training mode (to hone your skills against an immobile, mobile, attacking, defending, or any sort of opponent you like). Training mode is very helpful for committing moves to memory, especially more complex moves like Goku's Ultimate Spirit Bomb attack.

The game has about 29 characters, including Goku, Gohan, Trunks, Vegeta, Piccolo, Goten, Videl, Yamcha, Frieza, Cell, Buu and many more.

If you like unique fighting games, then you will like this one. If you like Dragonball Z, then you will like this one. This game comes highly recommended, and I hope a third one is not far in the making, with a much expanded cast.

First of all I would like to point out that the game will NOT be 3-D. It will be cel-shaded because that seems to be what everyone is doing now. But one amazing thing this game will have is a fusion capsule. It will enable you to fuse any two characters in the game!! The game will contain 34 characters in all including the ones from the first Budokai. I'm pretty sure this one will have Majin Buu, Kid Buu, Super Buu, Videl, Dabura, and for some reason Dr. Gero although it would have made more sense for them to put him in the first one. And don't delete your data from Budokai from your memory card because all of your skills will be transferrable to Budokai 2. One thing they decided to change is the Story Mode. Sadly there will not be a Story Mode to Budokai 2. It will be something called Dragon World. You and your party of 3 more people will go around the world and search for Dragonballs but if you meet up with a villain who wants the Dragonball you must fight him. You can let the COM fight him or you can fight him yourself... And you will actually get a reward for finishing the Legend of Hercule. I was never informed on what the reward is though. Nor do I know what you will be doing in the Legend of Hercule mode this time either. But I can tell you from searching for it on the net that your character will move more swift, the blast will be bigger and cause more damage, and the new battle places like Capsule Corp or Orange High School (Where Gohan goes to school), will be MUCH more destructible if you happen to be knocked through a wall..... Or 5 or 6....... If you'd seen the clip that they had up at dragonballz.com then you know what I mean. But no doubt Budokai 2 will be something worth waiting for. Pre-order yours from amazon.com now!!

You know when your opponent shoots an ultimate move at you and you just needed one more puch to defeat him? well now you can shoot back his death beam or whatever just by pressing a button faster than your opponent!!sadly i don't think they made it so you can fly without getting hit though And that's not the worst part they got rid of story mode!!!!! but they did add a few new modes like survival mode and training in babidi's ship and last but not least Dragon mode dragon mode is you and 3 other characters go searching for the dragonballs against the computer when you and your opponent are on the same square you have to fight him or let the comp do it for you the loser has to stay in the square for 1 turn in short it's a dragonballz board game that's all i can remember about the game now for pics of the game go2 gamespot atari and dbz.com

Honest reviews on Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2

After waiting countless months, people can finally get their hands on this sequel to DragonBall Z: Budokai. Does it live up to all of the hype surrounding it? Well, that depends on what you're looking for in this title. The graphics have been beautifully enhanced with a new cel-shaded look that fits this title appropriately. The fighting has also been improved to a degree with the character fusions in which two characters can fuse together to make stronger characters to fight with (Gotenks, Vegito, and others that weren't even in the show). This alone adds much more variety to the building of characters. The character customization has been slightly improved as well, with and easier shop system so that you won't have as much trouble finding all of the skills that you want. There have been many new skills added to the mix like Super Saiyan Level 3 and new characters like the three different forms of Majin Buu, which will surely appeal to all of the fans of the show. With all of the good things I've said, this game also has a few glaring flaws. My first gripe is that other than the fusions and new abilities, the fight system itself is still very average and may seem to be too simple to people who are just looking for a serious fighter and couldn't care less about DBZ. Others may also not appreciate the fact that the story mode that was done so well in the first game has been replaced with a new mode called Dragon World. It puts the characters on small maps in which they move like chess pieces to find the dragonballs and fight whomever they run into, until they reach the next stage. While this mode is still fun, it is not nearly as appealing as the story mode that was introduced in the first game. Overall, I still felt that this game was a decent follow up to the origional that should definately appeal to any true fan of DBZ.

P.S. Upload your data from the first Budokai to receive a set number of capsules at the beginning of the game!

I know a person who works for a Atari and so i decided to interview him about the game, This is how the fusion system works. If you watch the videos of you will see you have to push some buttons, You dont have to push all of them to get a fusion, EXAMPLE: Lets say i push Square, Circle, Triangle and Right i might get Gokule (Goku+Hercule=Gokule) or if i push something different i might get Vegetto (Goku+Vegeta=Vegetto). Sadly story mode is removed... But we got Dragon Mode this is how dragon mode works, Lets say i pick Vegeta and i have to fight Raditz (Either for a dragonball or elimination) Before i fight Raditz, on the map below Raditz's face it will show a circle that means i have to beat him once. Now if i fight Kid Buu then i might have to beat him 6 or 7 times. The controls are the same, so know need to flip through the instructions! GOOD LUCK GUYS BECAUSE THIS GAME IS A LOT HARDER NOW!!!!

I managed it in the end though i think this games fixed or something cos i cant find anyway to control speed and so can never get to the required deck in the given time. Review of Axis & Allies - PC

Axis & Allies - PC
Customer Ratings: 3 stars
Buy Now
I am 40 years old, and not a hardcore PC gamer. I do love traditional strategy games, and played everything from chess to Risk and the A&A board game growing up.

I only own about three or four PC games. I quite liked the first PC version of A&A, as it was like the board game, but sped up with the computer rolling the dice, etc. When I heard about this release, I couldn't wait, and eagerly shelled out the $49.99 (I see it is already only $45.99 here on Amazon).

I just wanted to let you know where I was coming from before I gave my review. My initial impressions are mixed, but overall, I am somewhat disappointed. This may change as I play more.

I have to say I love the idea. The traditional board game strategy, with the ability to "micromanage" the battles in real time. In fact, in the WWII mode, you can play the whole game from the game board perspective, using the computer to resolve the battles based on relative strengths, or you can choose to do any particular battle, offensive or defensive, in the micro mode, and then on that level, it is like a whole new game, with great graphics and all.

The biggest disappointment as a fan of the traditional board game version and the original PC version, is that on the board game level, it is not much like the original game. You do not start out with choices like ships, subs, and planes to deploy, only infantry or mechanized infantry. The Ocean spaces on the board do not serve as any type of natural barrier, as any type of piece can move to any adjoining space. So, for example, German infantry can attack Great Britain as easily as Russia on the mainland. In fact, as another reviewer mentioned, if you choose to play the board game level, and not use the real-time strategy level to resolve battles, the game is simply a rush to deploy infantry and gobble up territory. If you play the U.S., the game will be over in about 5 or 6 turns as Moscow and London fall before you can really get in the battle.

Also, the technology doesn't have things like heavy bombers and super subs, etc.

I really wish that on the game board, turn by turn level, the PC game was true to the Board game. I agree with others that if you are an A&A fan you are in for a disappointment.

Other complaints I have are that, for example, the tool bar has fancy graphics, that I think are unnecessary, and cut down on the viewable area of the map, which should be a prime focus in designing the interface. Also, the tool bar has separate buttons for moving and attacking, so you have to click the piece you want, then click move button or attack button, then click the territory you want to move to or attack. And if you click the move button, then a hostile territory, it tells you you can't move to a hostile territory, you must attack. This three-step process seems like such a waste, when the two actions are mutually exclusive. Why can't you just drag the piece to the space you want, and then the computer should be able to know if it is friendly you want to move there, and if it is hostile, you want to attack? This is just one example.

Finally, keep your manual handy, as although there are PCtutorials, they only deal with the real time combat level, and you'll be unable to figure out how to play the board game level, because of problems like the one I just described above, without digging through the book.

Now, having said that, I am trying to learn this game better, and enjoy it in its own right. I think that is possible. And I haven't tried many of the campaign options, so they might be fun also. It does have great graphics, and that is why I gave it 3 stars (instead of 1 or 2).

but if you wanted to buy a game like Axis and Allies then avoid this game like the plague. Like all RTS games there is little real strategy to the game. It is simply who can build the fastest and move around the board the fastest. The lack of naval and air power is amazing. Oh, those units are there, kind of. They are strictly a tack on to the RTS portions of the game. You do not actually build them like you did in A&A. There is literally nothing to stop the Germans from invading Britain in the openning rounds.

As the Americans, I defeated 6 Japanese units, 2 armored and 4 infantry in China, with only one defensive unit as they call them. Eventually through constantly beating their attacks each turn, I was able to destroy the majority of the Japanese army in Asia. There was no strategy to it. It was basic RTS. Build as fast as you can and rush them out there in mobs. This game exemplifies why I hate RTS games in general and I really wish they had added this feature in some better fashion. RTS games have no strategy in the real military sense. I guess there is some, but in my experience they are simply building as fast as possible and rushing your men out in massive mobs. This is not why I buy military games.

Again, if you like the standard RTS games out there, this might add an extra dimension, which you might like. But, and this is a huge but, if you wanted a game like the old A&A with a little bit of RTS added on, then this is not for you. The RTS is clearly a distraction from the old game and not an addition. I consider this game to be the biggest waste of my money in several years.

Best Deals for Axis & Allies - PC

Reading the previous reviews many have rated it bad because people are expecting something like the board game. If you read the comments it says "INSPIRED BY THE BOARD GAME" It does not say exactly like the board game.

I have the board game and I love it, Whenever we can get a group of people we play.

This PC version is great it has great graphics "smoke, construction, fires, explosions, ect. ect."

It is pretty cool on how the construction is portrayed.

The battlefields and the missions get harder and harder.

Overall if you are expecting a board game do not buy this get the board game. If you are looking for a PC game with great graphics then buy this game.

Honest reviews on Axis & Allies - PC

First of all, this game has the wrong title. If you love the board game, you will be sadly disappointed. If you want the board game on PC, you can still find it offered by other vendors but the AI is horrible. Aside from that, the RTS in this game is great and very addicting. There are flaws of course, such as the fact that you have to constantly pause the game to issue commands because your units are too stupid to show any logic for themselves, such as being able to get out of the battle before being wiped out or to fix a burning building they are standing right next to, etc. But overall, it if very fun to play the campaigns and the RTS and AI is very good.

Then this is NOT it. Don't waste your money.

I finally upgraded to XP SP2 and my A & A (Hasbro Version) stopped working. So I thought it was time to upgrade my version of A & A. As I read about the new version, I was really psyched at the potential of mixing the board game and RTS. However after spending time playing it today, I can honestly say it is a WW II RTS game bearing the title A & A with a computerized board game. While the computerized board game portion of the game may show a board that resembles the A & A map, the game doesn't resemble A & A very much beyond that. No ships or aircraft to control in the WW II portion. Imagine taking a territory and you get to keep all your armies and the enemy loses only one and gets to retreat. Huh? Germany can invade Great Britian with troops straight from Europe. What happened to control of the air or sea? This has both Moscow and London falling quickly if you are the US. Another sticking point, you can only have one battle per turn. ??? You can only cross one boarder at a time. Huh??? No tanks crossing two territories. I am not sure how the "quick resolution" of a battle is accomplished in the backend. On several occasions I attacked my opponent whom I totally out numbered and I lost. I think someone posted something similar happening to them also. I ended up losing one guy and all forces retreated. Huh??? What if I don't wnat to retreat? One battle I was attacking Japan, however if Japan leaves no armies in Japan you can't attack. What??? Is this a feature? I'll just leave my homeland empty and I'll never lose. Several turns later Japan has a country full of armies.

To be fair to the programmers on the RTS side, it has some cool stuff. Little things like snow falling off the trees in the background. Tanks running over trees, tank tracks in the snow...

It seems to me that those who gave it a great review are looking at it from an RTS perspective. Those that gave it a bad review were looking at it from a "computerized version of the titled board game". Two reviewers must have been out late smoking something or work for Atari. TimeGate or somehow associated with selling the product. Sam you are the only one that says "It stays true to the board game". Tim another reviewer even says "not your board game anymore" and Diego "I am sure it will be a great PC game" obviously puts you in the "haven't played it so you shouldn't review it". Play it then tell us your thoughts.

In the end it is a good "Age of Empires" World War II version, however it is far from the name Axis & Allies board game I have known and what I thought I was purchasing.

I wanted a computerized version of the board game. Instead I was really disappointed because it is just a wolf is sheep's clothes. Atari came out with a good game and unfortunately attached the name of another game to it. I was so pumped up to play it, however the delta between my expectation and the delivery is just too great.

Have I expressed my disappointment....

If Atari or TimeGate happen to read this, all you need to do is take the WW II portion of the game and make that part more like the actual board game or Hasbro version (tuning it up a bit) and both sides will give it a thumbs up. It seems to get thumbs up from the RTS gamers. However those who buy it thinking it is like the board game are going to continue to be very disappointed. From the 50/50 reviews I would say it might be half of the customer base, although I think is is more 60/40, some of the reviews are obviously peppered.

I am posting because I was looking for a comparative review between the Astro A50s and the Turtle Beach Tango before I went out and bought one and I couldn't find one. I saw gamers here waiting for a similar review so I decided to do one. This isn't a professional comprehensive review this is just my take and how I ended up with one over the other. I am not saying which you should buy I am just noting my opinion. IF you have either one of these headsets then you have a great headset and you will be very happy. For me there were some things that stood out over the other and because of that I was able to make my decision and I feel I made the right choice!

So I picked up both the Astro A50s and the Turtle Beach Tangos to test out. I used each one for about two days on various games and tried all the features to help me decide which of these 300 dollar headsets I wanted to keep.

In the end I felt the Tango's are well ahead of the Astro A50s in terms of awesome features like software to create user custom EQ presets for audio or chat, surround angles, removable microphone and Bluetooth, which makes it compatible any Bluetooth device like a real headset. The sound quality on both the A50s and Tango are great so any edge the A50s may have isn't enough to lose out on all the features the Tango's give you. Honestly even if the Astro A50 were $100 cheaper I would still opt for the Tango's. The Astros just don't have enough features, and with no Bluetooth you have to use them with the transmitter only. The Tango's have incredible features and since I can use them with my Vita, smartphone and tablet I feel has more use and therefore a better value.

I am not a fanboy I have wanted the Astros for a long time, when the A50s came out I decided to make the plunge, I was a bit disappointed which lead me to try the Tangos. Between the two the Tango's are it. Turtle Beach really made an awesome headset that is packed full of gaming features and is comfortable and stylish. The Astro A50s are bare bones compared to the Tango and the lack of features and comfort does not make up for the slight sound difference.

So on to it!

Setup: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50: It wouldn't power on via the PS3 Slim USB port. I had to go online and install a firmware for both the headset and the transmitter. Once I did that it worked somewhat. Every time I would power off the PS3 and power it on again the transmitter would not come on I have to keep switching USB ports to get it to turn on. Not what I want to do for a 300 dollar set of headphones. Also you have to turn on both the headset and transmitter manually. No charge and play cable so I had to wait for it to charge before I could use it (I didn't have a long USB)

Turtle Beach Tango: No issues. When you turn on the headset the transmitter turns on automatically small but great feature. The Tango's also came with a long charge and play cable.

Sound : Verdict: Astro A 50 (but only by a slight edge)

Astro A50:

Very nice, warm deep rich sound. I wouldn't say I was blown away but they were nice. They have a bit more bass and volume then the Tangos.

Turtle beach Tango:

As with the Astro I wasn't blown away but again these sound great. The Tangos produce a different sound from the A50s, they aren't as warm but they do seem to have great clarity and still sound very awesome.

Surround Sound: Verdict: TIE

Both do surround sound and both sound awesome, listing to both I am happy with either one. The A50s do 7.1 the Tango's do 5.1. I don't think you need 7.1 as most movies and games aren't even in 7.1 and really that is more used for bigger spaces. Also the 7.1 is almost too much for headphones and can make it a little harder to pinpoint direction like footsteps you still will be able to great it just may be a little less accurate. 5.1 are plenty for headphones and you will be able to pinpoint better in my opinion. So for surround sound, they are both great!

Surround Sound Angles: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50: none

Turtle Beach Tango: 6 surround angles. This is a very cool feature that lets you select 6 different surround angles,. The angles are basically simulating different distance and angle setups for the front and rear speakers and it works well. I use setting 5

Comfort: Verdict: Turtle Beach Tango; Feels great even with extended gaming.

I wore both headsets for extended periods of gaming

Astro A50:

They are a heavy headset. The ear cushions feel great no issue at all however the head strap felt uncomfortable after about 40 minutes due to the weight and was definitely noticeable. After longer game time I started adjusting the position of them on my head.

Turtle Beach Tangos

They have memory foam, are lighter and they did not get uncomfortable at any time of extended gaming, they never got heavy feeling.

Presets EQs: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50s: Have 3 presets

Out of the 3 presets only number 3 sounded great, the other two I doubt I would use they just didn't sound that different yet they weren't as good and the volume was weaker.

Turtle Beach Tangos: Have 9 presets:

I use number 4 and it sounds great. Each preset sounds different from each other. There are presets to focus on footsteps, action, chat you name it.

Customizable EQ: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50: no option for user generated EQ settings, the 3 presets is what you are stuck with

Tangos: Has an awesome feature and software that allows the user to create customized EQ presets for audio and chat. The online community will even upload presets specific for various games. Treyarch even has a preset specific for COD Black Ops 2.

Microphone: Verdict: Tangos

Astro A50: The microphone is hardwired to the headset so you can't remove it. This concerns me because if there is ever an issue with the MIC you will need to pay to ship it to Astro to have them repair it. To mute the Mic you have to flip it up, to un-mute you flip it back down so this will be getting plenty of wear. I do not like the idea of not having a removable Mic and I don't like having to flip it up and down to Mute and Unmute.

Tango: Has a super bendy removable microphone which is nice, if I ever need a new one I can just order it and put it on myself. To mute the microphone there is button you press which I prefer. I can also remove the mic if I am just streaming music or using it with my tablet or vita.

Chat clarity: Verdict: Tie

Both sounded great

Chat Presets: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50: None.

Tango: 9 chat presets, some even alter the voice pitch. Again you can create custom ones if you want.

BlueTooth: Verdict: Tango

Astro A50: No Bluettoth feature at all. You have to use these headsets with the transmitter or they will not work on their own. You can run a wire to the back of the transmitter from a headphone jack of something like an Ipod but you need to stay connected to the transmitter.

Tango: Bluetooth on the headset. You can connect two Bluetooth devices at once so you can answer or make a call while gaming or even stream music. You can also use the headphones as a real stand along headset with a tablet or smart phone or even a Vita. This feature alone gives me so much value out of the Tango headphones. The Tango's can be used for any Bluetooth device and doesn't need to have the transmitter in range, they can be used as independent headphones I can take them to work if I want and stream music from my smartphone.

Style: Verdict : Tango

Astro A50: The head set is nice but the stand looks cheap and doesn't form fit the headphones very well. I actually thought it looked bad on the stand, lots of dead space and kind of just hangs there.

Turtle Beach Tango: Looks great, the stand is the transmitter and fit the headphones. It looks awesome with the orange trim on both the headphones and transmitter.

Connection

No issues on either one, no static or pops. Both use the 5ghz band

Ordered these on October 25th 2012 and they were released on the 26th for shipment. Being that was a Friday the 1 day business shipping didn't get them to me until the 29th as expected. First impressions: These appear to be MUCH better made than my Turtle Beach x4's that they are replacing. They are solid, appear to be made of good material and have a nice feel to them. Included in the box were the headset, transmitter, Bluetooth chat puck, (1) optical cable & (1) USB power cable (The transmitter is powered by a USB power cable & does not plug into an outlet but into your Xbox), (1) short USB cable to plug into the headset for charging purposes when sitting on the transmitter, & (1) long USB cable to charge & play. The headset is factory paired with the Bluetooth puck so no set up required. Just hook up the transmitter with the two cables to the Xbox and go. WOW! Sound is amazing. 100% better than my x4's. They are paired with the transmitter via dual channel wireless where my x4's were infrared. IR required line of site & anybody or anything (my very large Weimaraner) walking between you and it would cause static or fallout of sound. There is NO problem like that with the Tango's. Sound is very crisp with no static, hum, popping or fallout. Since Black Ops II isn't out yet I fired up Modern Warfare 3. FANTASTIC! These things flat out ROCK!!!!! There are a number of presets built into the headset for different sound profiles that can be accessed by just a button push. These cover both chat & game sounds. It appears you can even program your own which I will try at some point. I have been using the presets but will experiment with all of the available options later. Also another very cool feature is the Bluetooth is dual pairing which means you can pair it with another Bluetooth device. I paired it with my Samsung Galaxy S III with no problems which enabled me to listen to my music while playing the game and chatting. How cool is that!!! Also supposed to be able to use your phone to make & receive calls while playing. Have not tried it yet but see no reason it wouldn't work since the music does. My son has Astro A40's and these beat them hands down. They also make my TB x4's seem archaic. If you are an Xbox gamer & and can afford them then I don't think you will be dissapointed.

PROS: Too numerous to list! Best headset I have ever used or owned.

CONS: None at present except maybe price. But I guess you get what you pay for.

Ok so this is my third headset, the others are Turtle Beach X12 and Tritton 720+ (I highly recommend both of those).

After getting tired of seeing "OMG this headset sucks it has such a low volume" I have to make an update and put it first

THIS HEADSET HAS PLENTY OF VOLUME

USE THE ADVANCED SOUND EDITOR PEOPLE!! THIS IS WHY ARE YOU PAYING SO MUCH MONEY FOR THIS HEADSET

Pros

-Sound Quality is great, in MW3 I could easily tell where the enemies were. I'd give these 9.5 and Trittons 720+ 8.5

-Advanced Sound Editor (ASE), make all the adjustments you want to your audio and chat. With a lot of room for presets.

-Mic is 10/10 just like the X12

-Very nice design

-Wireless with no interference at all, everything works great

-Voice morphing, yeah, this may be stupid and unnecesary but it can be real fun, you can make tons of jokes with this option

Cons

-Sound out of the box is meh, you have to go the ASE to get great sound quality

-"EAR GUARD" THIS IS WHAT MAKES THE HEADSET TO HAVE "LOW VOLUME", YOU CAN TURN IT OFF IN THE ADVANCED SOUND EDITOR! DOWNLOAD THE MANUAL FROM TURTLE BEACH WEBSITE

-The most disappointing thing for me is that they do feel a bit cheap not what I would expect from a $300 headset, To me the X12 and Trittons are way better in this category, both feel more resistant to falls and everything

-Optical cable, it is sooooo slim but I guess this isn't a big deal...

-Price is a little high since they feel cheap and the sound out of the box is not what you would expect

I had to return these because I had some problems (sound would cut off for 5 seconds from time to time and it would make a distorted noise in the right earcup every 10 mins approx)

Even with the problems I had with the Tangos I would say this is a nice headset (although a bit pricey imo) and probably better than the Astro A50 (I am sure my Tangos were one of the very few that were defective, but the A50 it seems like 50% are good and 50% are defective) and from what I've seen all over the internet the Warheads sound is somewhat mediocre for $300.

UPDATE 01/25/2013

After trying the old Astro mixamp with the Sennheiser PC 360 (which, lucky me, they were defective too) I am back with the Tangos.

I wanna say the old mixamp is really good imo.

The Sennheiser PC 360 are beautiful for music but in games I don't know if it was because they were defective or I had to get used to their sound (like it happened to me going from TBs X12 to Tritton 720+) but it was harder for me to hear footsteps, I am not quite sure as I just tried them for a few hours.

Anyway, I am back with the Tangos and I am pretty happy with these, no defects so far, everything works great as I was expecting. This is the best headset for gaming I have tried so far.

If you can get them for $199 that is a great price or even $249 would be fair imo.

Honest reviews on Turtle Beach Call of Duty: Black Ops II Tango Programmable Wireless

I've had both the A50s and the new Tangos. Sound quality is close probably favors the A50 ever so slightly but the other features pushes the Tangos way ahead

I received these headphones in good shape. I have been using them for about 30 hours and have had no issues. They are much more comfortable than the XP 500s. Also, there is absolutely no cracking of connection and in fact I was able to wear the headphones and still talk and hear game play while two rooms away from the receiver, still no crackiling or cutting out.

Voice is clear and concise and I was able to hear my music through BT while playing without any problems. This is a expensive headset, but extremely worth it. I have not tried voice morphing or manipulating any of the sound functions through the computer.

Pros:

Sounds Quality

Presets

Range

Voice Quality

Comfortable (caveat: ears were sore after 8 hrs of straight game play, but any headset would be at that point)

Detachable mic

rechargeable battery

battery life

Con(s):

Pricedefinitely takes a while to save up for them

lack of carrying case

Warm around the ears

top of the head can get sore from the weight

***Update 8 NOv 2012***

Was able to chat with the wife while gaming. I was interested to see if the voice morph would work just with regular cell phone usage. It did and it was pretty damn funny, think it was preset 8...start laughing and it gets the creepy demon like laugh. Wife didn't care for it too much though :)

Bummed...order this early and pay 299.99, now it is 269.99.
