Granted most people won't like this game because they don't like how it feels. There is a learning curve that most people have had and are having problems with. Once you figure out the games little quarks on how it works it's not bad at all. It's hard to push the cars on the easyest setting because it has auto brakes and more times than not it ends up with you losing control and end up in the dirt.

Once you get farther into the games and have the diffrent cars and upgrades it becomes fun. But it will take time to get there. Your not given the best car right off the bat you have to really work at it to get there.

But with any game try to rent it and play to see if this is something you really want to spend 60 bucks on.

EA's mediocre machine has churned out another snooze-fest with an abnormal amount of product placement.

You are a potential client of many corporations. Electronic Arts lets you know this from the very first time you pop in the ProStreet disc. Yes, there will be pandering. Of course there's stereotyping of the "import culture". It's got everything you expect in a modern NFS game from an annoying announcer that won't shut up to a music selection consisting of only current pop songs. It's obvious that the game was developed by a committee of suits who are using it simply as a mechanism of further sales.

I suppose there's an in-ad game in here as well. I'm not sure what EA was attempting to do in the game when it comes to car control and physics. It seems like the developers played a game with decent physics like Forza 2 and then emulated it in the worst possible way. There's a poor mash-up of arcade and simulation physics in here and the result is an unsatisfying "feel" when driving. FWD cars will oversteer when you increase the throttle after turning off all the assists (to do so requires a trip down a few menus). Light to moderate braking doesn't lighten the tail of the vehicle as expected. Unfortunately, your choices for control range between simple button mashing and an uncontrollable mess.

Some of the race modes are unfairly designed (such as Sector Shootout). This is because whoever sets the fastest time on a particular section of the track gets all the points for that section. The problem is that you will always start at the pack of the pack and thus the lead AI vehicle will consume most of the points on the first run around the track. There are times when you will compete against vehicles significantly better or worse than your own car which makes the game feel cheap all around.

There's a nice selection of cars but winning races doesn't earn you much money and thus you won't be able to afford them using in-game currency. Which brings up another issue: Micro-transactions in-game. When your car is damaged you can spend real money to repair it. If you want a new car or more modifications you can buy it using real money. I believe it's fairly obvious why EA made it hard to earn in-game money. They want you to reach into your pocket and pull out a little bit more green. Apparently, shelling out the money for a video game up front isn't enough as now we are expected to pay to enjoy the game as well.

I'd avoid this stinker and select something more enjoyable.

I first got my hands on this game around a year ago, and like everyone else, I was quick to get rid of it because it was no longer free roam, nor the cops where taken out of the picture. However, I have recently picked the game up again used at gamestop for $17.99 and for anyone debating if they want this title or not... Let me tell you what factors make this game alot of fun: 1. It's the social aspect that really makes this game shine, you are able to play split-screen, and the coolest part with this is when you are going high speeds on the long streched out highway and crash, you get a cinematic camera view of your car crashing. Hours of fun when you have a friend come by to hangout. 2nd. Like most other racing games you get the choice between manual and automatic. Well on Prostreet you get the option to use a manual with a clutch. My friend and I found this to be one of the key conponents to the "fun factor", with this game. And 3rd. Like many others in the series you get to customize your rides again...

So besides all that, of course you have your draw backs: no police, no free roam, and sometimes not the best framerate. But for the cost of this game now, I say it's definitely worth a try to check out; you know you have a fun racing game in your collection when you have a friend that absolutey hates racing games request that you don't return it!

In a previous review on nfs undercover, I took a negative shot at prostreet, but as it's listed, "I retract my previous statement". Due to the fact of the fun social factor this game presents. Hope I was able to help out

Honest reviews on Need for Speed: Prostreet - Xbox 360

I think it's fair to say ProStreet is almost as big a disappointment as Carbon. Most Wanted brought us a great environment, good (albeit cheesy at times) cop chases, but most importantly: a game that, when you played it, felt n smooth and creamy opposed to choppy and slapped together.

But lets quickly examine the pros:

1) Car detail the 360 (and surely the PS3 as well) pumps out some amazing detail. Tread on tires, creases on the panels, and even the inside dash can't go wrong.

2) Car upgrades and tuning Very precise (or so it seems). Customize each aspect as you like it and they even give you a "test" to estimate how you will function on the road. Great for shaving split seconds off your race time.

3) Works nicely with a racing wheel.

The cons:

1) Track Racing I think the most obvious downfall of track racing is the ease of and over use of using the same piece of track for about 300 different races. And prostreet does this perfectly EVEN WHEN AT DIFFERENT BATTLE MACHINES (supposedly different geographic locations). And all the other cons with track racing follow too: plain and similar backgrounds, lack of excitement, no traffic, and certainly, no cops. Lastly, Nascar has some great tracks boring, in my opinion, but many love it which is probably better suited to the track lovers.

2) Informational Messages I'm just plainly sick of EA's tree hugging "don't race" messages, this is a game not a defensive driving course save it! I also imagine their "don't race on the street" message has something to do with the track racing the game is based on, and their lame attempts to convey the gratification of local race track notoriety bah! Not so important, but feels good to vent about. :)

3) Car damage I'm unsure if this is a good thing, a bad thing, or just out of balance. Let's just say it's not horribly hard to rack up a repair cost twice the value of the income from the race especially since YOU pay when THEY hit YOU. They attempt to offset this with repair markers, but the whole system feels off decide for yourself.

4) Cash or microsoft points? So how do YOU want to spend your hard earned real life currency? If you have enough, you can simply buy your car and its upgrades! Microsoft points are interchangeable with game cash, the average car cost is about 200 MSP roughly $2.50 US. I imagine the question that EA answered with this feature was, "How can we make money off people renting the game?" Heck, lets take it one step further: Exactly how much do you think the upgrades will cost, in both game and real world currency, for that car you couldn't afford in the first place? I'm guessing the real genius of this plot unfolds at precisely this point when you realize you your in-game check book can't balance the costs and you start waving around your credit card for more MSP.

5) No Cops But why should there be any? It was only the BEST feature of Most Wanted and Carbon took a stab at butchering this aspect by implementing nothing but straight roads, where losing cops isn't realistic, likely, or even fun (imo, anyway). The cop chases, which for me was the defining aspect of replay value was probably replaced by the xbox live online portion.

So let me sum this game up quickly: Your driving your choice of many real world cars around a variety of tracks that pretty much all look the same, you cross the finish line a few times as #1, you dominate a "race day" which wins you a few bucks and a choice of 6 prizes many of which, part-wise, you probably already own (mostly lvl1-2 for a while). When you're done, you begin the same thing over at a new "battle machine," with strikingly similar backgrounds, but probably one major difference: off the road... is SAND not dirt... Or dirt, not a fence...

No short cuts, no speed breaker (not entirely horrible, mind you), very little variety, but great looking cars. Are you ready? o=

Ah yes, it's holiday time kids, and you know what that means. It's that time of year when EA lets all their new installments of flagship franchises out on the gaming world, and yes, there's another Need for Speed game. This time around, it's Need for Speed: Prostreet, which is a departure from the previous installments, Most Wanted and Carbon. Let's be frank here right off the bat, the best part of the past few NFS games were definitely the cop chases, which are nowhere to be found here. What we get instead is some solid, albeit unspectacular, street racing. That in itself isn't so bad, but considering the run-in's with the law were what helped make Most Wanted so good (and Carbon to a lesser degree), losing them is a huge disappointment. Instead, we get more of the same here with Prostreet: pretty decent looking graphics and cars, a very nice array of online options and solid XBox Live support, and of course, product placement and ads galore until your eyes bleed. There's simply not nearly enough here to seperate Need for Speed: Prostreet from other games of the type, and it's nowhere near as good as Most Wanted, but you're going to check it out regardless of you dig the Need for Speed series. Whether or not you want to lay down that much cash for it though is another question altogether.

Just picked this title up as there are no other chess games available for the Xbox360! First off, the game is not user friendly, you can't make hardly any adjustments to the look of the game play (remove hints, only 3 piece styles, etc.... The fighting "battle" mode is COMPLETELY LAME and almost unplayable!! There are no mentor/teaching modes available in the game. No chess library for playing through classic games etc, it's like the dynamics of chess wasn't even really addressed or though of when they designed this turkey!...overall it is a LAME game title. If you're a chess enthusiast, PASS on Battle Vs Chess! Save your money for a REAL chess game for the Xbox360, IF they ever release one, that is!:-(

This is a preliminary review, but I wanted to share some first impressions. First of all, although the disc & packaging says PAL (European) only, it works perfectly well in an American Xbox 360 -provided parental controls are disabled or set to allow M+ rated games. It's the same game as Check VS Mate [Download], but it's unclear when if ever it will be released with that title for Xbox 360 in the US. My advice is to go ahead and get this international version if you want to play on your console.

There is a LOT of game modes/features and variations for both single-player and multiplayer. Here are some examples:

* Classic game (just thought I'd mention it in case people think there isn't "normal chess"). Still, classic game has some innovative options for placement such as "Randomized" (for major pieces only), "Tactic" (AI has presets, player has control), "Madness" (all pieces' placements randomized), "Recruit" (point values of pieces, random number and type), and "Madness + Recruit." There are 6 options for boards/settings, and 10 options for AI difficulty.

* Battlegrounds "Slasher" (3rd person action) & "Duel" (2-D side view beat-em-up). I haven't tried them out but the rules and "how to play" appear different for the different modes, so it's likely more than just the perspective difference.

* Minigames Treasure Hunt, Puzzles (various types, lengths, and difficulties)

* Campaign Mode Missions for the Order or Chaos armies (puzzle-like challenges)

* Multiplayer features There is a lot here: Local ("Head-to-Head"), Xbox Live, and System Link multiplayer. Modes include Classic, Reserve (captured pieces join your side), Suicide (goal is to lose all your pieces), Double (move 2 pieces in a turn; "Marseillais" variant, Duel. There is also a "Fog of War" option.

* Tutorial I haven't tried it, but the topics are basic (i.e., how the various chess pieces move). I was kind of hoping for something akin to Majestic Chess (Jewel Case). The Campaign Mode (see above) sort of approximates an adventure game, but it's not instructive like Majestic Chess.

The animations, etc. are very impressive (miles better than Majestic Chess, which I mentioned above), and I'd strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoys puzzle or board games.

For anyone out there that is thinking of picking this up. It does work on Windows 7. The installation is a little tricky but it does work.

To install you must do the following:

1. Open cd in explorer window.

2. Go to Software folder

3. Right click on InstallGB.exe and select properties

4. Go to compatability tab

5. Select run in Windows XP (SP3) and run as admin press ok

6. Go to Intervideo folder

7. Do the same for setup.exe

8. Go back and run InstallGB.exe

9. Plug in device when asked and follow install prompts.

Should work just fine now. I had no problems with my install. Worked on the first try. I never was able to get this thing to work properly on XP or Vista due to lack of PC power. Runs beautifully on my Win 7 system. Quality of video capture is nothing to write home about but it does the trick.

This product does work with windows 7 and vista, but not the 64-bit versions. In a 64-bit environment, the only way to install this is using vmware or another virtual operating system program to install and run a 32 bit system (guest). Install the Gamebridge to the 32-bit guest system and it works at full speed on a relatively new computer.

I purchased this little gadget several months ago. I really enjoy using the Gamebridge. It is both simple and reliable. I am able to record and preserve video gameplay just when I want and end it when I want to. It works like a digital onscreen VCR (through the software) and if you are an avid gamer, you need a product like this. Though the only thing to be aware of, this product does not have drivers and support for the VISTA operating system. Only if you use Windows XP or Windows 2000 can you use the device. I am one of those PC owners who still has not made the switch from XP to VISTA. Yet I am happy with XP. So looks like I will be keeping XP around a lot longer. Haha! This product is non-nonsense in setting up, plus it is small and not a clutter issue. I recommend it. I use my Gamebridge device to connect to my 15.4 inch screen laptop computer via a USB port. My Nintendo Wii is my most used game machine alongside my laptop. Its neat as the Wii is space saving along with the laptop, which makes things very portable. For some of the videos I have, check my profile page at youtube dot com. Timothy2035 is my screen name.

It doesn't work in 64-bit anything because the drivers are 32-bit only. They always have and will be since Adaptec isn't supporting this anymore. I got it to work on 64-bit Windows 7 by installing VMware Player 3.1 (it's free) and then installing Windows XP Pro SP3 as a VM using the USB passthrough feature. Video performance was the same as it was on my older XP laptop...no lag. Win! I still have a LEGAL version of XP, so your mileage may vary depending on if you do or not. Dualbooting is also another option for some. Personally, XP just blue-screens on install on my machine before it even gets through the first file copy part. Maybe it's my i7 mobile, but who cares, the VM works and I don't have to reboot.

This is my 3rd MadCatz Bass controller, the first two were the original wired versions, and both were defective. I ended up keeping the second one the defective switch was the start button, which until RB3 wasn't used much. Once the family moved to playing RB3, it ended up collecting dust and I used a standard guitar controller. I really missed having the dedicated controller, so when I saw a $40 price tag on this bundle, I grabbed one hoping for better luck and it paid off.

The wireless version (the one included in this bundle) is a second-generation version of the controller, and the build quality feels much better than the original the switches are all solid (the wired controller's were mushy) and the fret buttons are silent but responsive. The split strum bar takes some getting used to the feel of it is halfway between the "i can't tell when it's triggering" RB guitars and the "click-click-click) of the GH ones; it takes some getting used to before you get a good feel for it. The controller features native 360 wireless connectivity (no USB dongle needed like some other 3rd party controllers), and is a welcome improvement over the wired bass. The included strap is much nicer than the ones included with other instruments, but is shorter than the one included with the wired controllers and makes it a bit uncomfortable to use with the bass, since the bass is longer and is intended to be slung low and upstrummed with two fingers. I swapped the strap from my old bass, but it's something to keep in mind for new buyers you may want to visit a guitar store and pick up a longer strap.

The included copy of Rock Band 3 is a full version. If you are just now getting the game several years into the music game craze, you will enjoy it it's the last and best of the (now mostly dormant) genre. If you are upgrading from RB1/2, you'll appreciate the upgrades and extra songs. Most of the new DLC tracks released since RB3 have been RB3 exclusives, so you'll find a lot of new tracks to buy. Even thought he genre is pretty much dead, the Rock Band games are the only ones that my entire family still wanders in to play together when one of us plops it in the tray. It's also still a big hit at gatherings.

Lastly, the bonus track pack is great. 4 of the 5 songs included are among the Chili Pepper's best and most fun, and they pair up great with the bass controller. In fact, they are among the most fun and challenging bass tracks in the game beware the end sections of the songs if you play on hard or expert modes, they're killers.

As I said, I paid $40 for this bundle (I assume they are clearing out back stock) it was a steal at that price; I even got $15 of that back selling the spare copy of RB3 to GameStop. The price has since gone up, but even at $80 I would say it's a good deal if you like the game and want a good dedicated bass controller. If you still play and love the Rock Band games, go for it.

Works great! It came with some cheap batteries, but free is better than none. I have a few minor complaints, the button to remove the headstock is a bit too loose, and the "whammy bar" is too far away making it only available for long chords, the duel strum is strange but easy to get used to. Directional D-Pad works fine, and the dials for audio settings work. I am having some trouble activating via select dial but the start is instantly response. There also is a jiggling noise inside the bottom of the body, but it's common. Also there is only a switch for RB1 and RB2, however if you play RB3 change the dial to RB1. The box it came in was a bit dinged up but atleast it's the box. I also found it funny how the box it came in had printed on it "RB3 software not included" however it was. The strap that it came with is High Quality Fender strap, and the DLC code is nice however I already own all the RHCP songs. All around this was a great buy 10 of 10 must buy if you're a RockBand gamer...

When DBZ Budokai 1 came out I immediately fell in love with the game. 2 years later, Budokai 3 came out and it exploded into a new intense era of DBZ games. I remember spending countless hours and hours playing Budokai 3 and after it's 10 year release of 2002 the series of DBZ Budokai is still amazing. The remastered collection brings out the most upbringing graphics of today's standards. The visuals make the game even more intense and fun as well. To be honest, I was never fond of the Tenkaichi series because it drifted away from the fighting style in which Budokai containted. Although both series have their own set of standards, I choose the Budokai series instead since there was so much action and criteria.

Budokai 1 contains 23 characters

Budokai 3 contains 38 characters including 8 fusions and reincarnations which total 46 characters.

Pros:

Remastered in HD

Supports trophies

Beautiful graphics

Intense action and fighting (especially Budokai 3)

Cons:

No online multiplayer

DBZ Budokai 2 is not included

Price should at least be $30

Other characters should have been imported from DBZ Infinite World such as Super Android 17, Baby Vegeta, Pan, etc.

Nevertheless if you are new to the DBZ Budokai series and like and/or love fast action packed fighting games, then this is the game you will definitely want to pick up and play. As for old comers, you will still enjoy the game it left out since 2002 :D

P.S

For new comers, I would play Budokai 1 first so you can see and learn the origin of how the Budokai series started and as you go into Budokai 3, be prepared to be spend countless hours of staying home and playing it :D

P.S.S

What 9000? :O!!!

First off I will say this game is the same as Budokai 1 and Budokai 3, except with better graphics, achievements/trophies, and new music.

People seemed to be concerned about the music, the fact that the origninal music from the Budokai games was replace with the new music from the Tenkaichi games is due to the fact the composer for the Budokai games had plagerized the soundtrack from another artist. Due to the that the music was changed.

Aside from that this game is an excellent buy, with the only knock on it being there is no online mode.

I wish they had the original soundtrack for the games and actually took the time to recreate the entire game in HD rather than take shortcuts, but it is great to be able to go and play one of my all time favorite games. The fight scenes in Budokai 3 are absolutely phenomenal in high definition. Even though so much got changed and taken out, these are still bad ass games.

First of all, ignore every other review you read here at venerable ol' Amazon.com

Even if they had a good point, it was lost by the use of 8 year old grammar.

THIS game may be the saving FPS for PS2, and while not getting the commercial support, from a technical standpoint may be the only thing Sony has against the Halo Juggernaught. With so many once loyal MoH fans turning their backs on Rising Sun (im not sure why) PS2 needs a hit. FPS are entering a new era, spearheaded by Halo and hopefully DOOM3, unfortunately, both are for XBox (fine for me, ive got both ps2 and the x)leaving PS2 a tad High And Dry.

Enter Games Workshop and their remarkably gritty British gaming world of Warhammer 40,000. While merry ol' England may not at first seem to be the source for grit, as compared to our own oliver stone and quentin tarantino culture, their form of grit is one born of apathy. Look at so many examples of their darker exploits, like Judge Dredd and Death's Head. Very Dark properties indeed.

So how does WH40K jump onto that bandwagon? By dooming us all. In the FAR FAR future (40,000 is the YEAR) we are a species consumed with warfare. An archaic symbol of a once proud Emperor now sits immortally on his Golden Throne, kept alive through unnatural technical means, while mankind breeds enormous super soldiers capable of spitting acid, crushing a mans skull with a few fingers, and wear huge explosion proof armour suits. Vicious Aliens, including Eldar (think space elves, but more violent) Orks (think orcs, and...well, yeah...orcs.) and Tau (think techno-samurai) amongst many others which come and go (necrons=terminators, etc)

not to mention the thousands of Space Marines who joined the daemonic forces of chaos and were changed by the hell spawned powers of the Warp, returning these Chaos Marines to murder and plague that which they once loved.

Pretty dark eh?

well this is the world this game takes place in. a thriving gaming community has kept Games Workshop in business for a couple of decades now, despite costing around $5 per miniature (and a typical army would be about 30 soldiers or so, to begin)

I myself run 3 armies (Sisters of Battle, Chaos Marines of Khorne, and The Dark Angels) and yet this game far supercedes any expectation i could have had.

instead of you being the space marine, noble and gallant (think Sega Saturns' Space Hulk) you are a young Tau, whose people have been attacked and kidnapped by self righteous human space marines.

Now.

Take THAT storyline concept, give it the same gameplay mechanics as Halo, and the scripted event on the fly concept that MoH: Frontline gave us, and youve got Fire Warrior.

thats quite a buildup, so ill throw in the bad and ugly...

Its ONLY on PS2. but like i said, ps2 deserves its fair share of fps too.

Enemy graphics get a little stale. Yes we all know the xbox can out perform the ps2 any day, but still, for the first few missions the humans look identical, only 3 colored suits!

Look response is a tad slow. this is mainly a design flaw in the ps2 compared to the analog controllers on the xbox remote.

auto-save

i hate auto-save, because i invariably die just before i hit the next one and will have to re run the entire mission.

but dont let those stop you. this game is excellent, and makes good use of every inch the ps2 can give.

THIS GAME ROCKS!!! (pun)

Of course a lot of gamers belch out that one for the lamest games around. But in this case I find it to be right on the money.

First let me say that I hate DARK games..Let me see doggone it! And Warhammer 40K is about the darkest game I've come across, It still rocks. Thank the gods for the nightvision option, I do wish it lasted a little longer.

I love the original 40K book/board game, but putting that aside, this game still rocks. The 40K theme is just an added bonus. It did take me by surprise that I would be fighting against the Imperium though, but what the hay Space Marines have to die too.

As far as the controls, like the above/below review mentioned, it's just like 4 or 5 other games. Left view, right move, it even lets you set the movement/sight ratio to let your controller's sensitivity move you along faster or slower. L1 fire, SQ change weapons, I had it down after the first level. Which you have to or you DIE, over and over.

Graphics are great, yes it is a little dark, but when you can see I find the scenery more than adequate, if you HAVE the time to look around. Because, this is a very fast pace game, if you stand in one spot for more than a minute you'll be attacked.

Weapons, weapons, who's got the weapons? I/you are always on the look out for the biggest and badest guns. Some shoot fast but aren't powerful, some are powerful but don't hold many bullets or refills are hard to come by. I found it best to have a Tau weapon for power and carry an enemy gun so I can have plenty of refills, seeing how you can grab reloads from the fallen. The occasional melda-guns are really powerful, but you can rarely fill one up with ammo. They are placed close to strong enemy though, so I usually grab one use it up then drop it for the one I had before. Note, take notice if you only have one or two rounds chambered in your weapon, there's nothing worse than jumping out into a crowd of angary space marines and having to reload.

Fire Warrior isn't just smash and grab. Although a lot of the main play is run threw, there are a few curve balls they throw at ya, from time to time, I think just to give you a little break between white knuckle battles. I had to sit and scratch my head a few times, wondering just where the heck to go.

And almost every level has a secondary O.P. that you may choose to pass up, but they're usually out of your way, run go figure this out and still make it out in time, "kinda things" that I didn't start getting until my second trip threw. You have to beat the game on normal mode before hard mode kicks in. (If you pause the missions are listed on the screen as well as the option to hear the last few radio broadcasts.)

The AI is as good as any of the latest PS2 games I've played Red Faction, TimeSplitter 2, although none of them will knock Halo off the top shelf. Yes, you do have the random "Stuck Feet" when you just happen to step in the perfect place, your just stuck in the mud, can't move, but what games don't have those. And yes some of the sergeants with grenades throw them at walls killing themselves, I say, thank goodness I don't have to kill that grenade totin' S.O.G.

The commodores and captains in the beginning are kinda hard to beat, considering the weapons you have to start with, but this just prepares you for the real fighting with the heavily armored Space Marines to come later in the game. Some of the Terminator/monsters in this game are just unbelievably tough, as they would be in "Real Life".

OK..so there's got to be a negative! Well, if I had to find fault with this game, I'd say it would be the lack of a backpack. Yes, you can carry a hand full of grenades and you do have a primary and secondary weapon, even a sword if you run outta ammo. But gimme a back pack, an extra health or 5 would help a good deal and we all like collecting odd trinkets threw our games. Medals, rare pistols, a flaming bayonet something out of the ordinary. But really health and a full clip of bullets is all a real Tau warrior needs anyway.

All this said, if you like first person shooters this one is a must have, if you like 40K this is a must have, if you like a game that can keep you on the edge of your seat for many many hours, this is the game for you.

But be prepared, When you hit the ground you better be running, and shooting and looking for ammo and health. Or you'll DIE DIE DIE!!!!

Oh yeah..Did I mention this game is DARK!

Best Deals for Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior

Putting occasional and minimal strength language and "after effects" in defeating an enemy, I personally hold this game higher than those who have found the Halo series their home. With an excellent story, horrific plot twists and bosses that would make a space marine cry, this game truely gives a more hands on experience of what Warhammer 40k could really offer someone. I recommend this game to anyone who calls warhammer cool, because this is just plain awesome!

Honest reviews on Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior

The action and story in this game is intense and captures you from the first battle. The one down side to this game is that the graphics are just average at best. With such a great story and pulse pounding action I am disappointed with the lack of detail in the graphics. The graphics remind of DOOM or Duke Nukem, not what you expect in todays gaming world.

But with that said the story in this game is fun, new, and exciting. All of things I have been missing in first person PS2 games. With better graphics this game could have challanged HALO easily.

Ive been a 40k fan for awhile and have been eagerly anticipating the release of this game. It kept getting pushed back and pushed back, building my hopes up each time. So when it finally came out I snatched it up. Playing around a bit I realized it was not what I had expected. So far the single player is cool, but not ground breaking. The biggest upset however came in the multiplayer mode. A limited number of weapons and levels paired with the lack of bots make for an almost boring experience. Dont get me wrong I like this game, but if not for the 40k theme this title would bring little to the table. If your looking for a good FPS for PS2 pick up Time Splitters 2 or Red Faction 2 for they both offer hours worth of variety that Fire Warrior sadly just doesn't have.

Assassin's Creed Altair's Chronicles - Nintendo DS Review

Assassin's Creed Altair's Chronicles - Nintendo DS
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

A prequel to Assassin's Creed, "Altair's Chronicles" explores the titular assassin's life before the events detailed in Assassin's creed. It also makes the rather clumsy transition from the PS3 and Xbox 360 to the Nintendo DS.

The story is much more simple in this game than in the original, possibly because if the events of this game were particularly ground-breaking the events of the original would not make as much sense. Altair is attempting to find the Chalice a powerful artifact said to be able to unite many groups under a single banner by the order of his superiors. If the Crusaders or Saracens should find it, they would use it to end the Crusades and dominate the holy land. Notably absent is the "modern day" setting present in Assassin's Creed showing the use of the Animus machine to re-live past events and so on (though the main menu is meant to be the Animus' display).

The gameplay is meant to be similar to Assassin's Creed, but isn't quite as advanced. Altair runs, jumps, and climbs like he does in the original, though with slightly less grace. Attacking has been reduced to attacking, blocking, and countering, with a lot less of the subtlety that made it so fun in Assassin's Creed. The top screen usually displays gameplay, while the bottom screen holds a map showing where all the people in the area are. Certain activities, like interrogation and pickpocketing, have been turned into touch-screen minigames. The former relies on a timed sequence of point-pressing to simulate pressure points, while the latter involves dragging an item through a bag without touching the bag's other contents. Instead of the old system of getting upgrades after completing missions, Altair must now collect "blue orbs" slightly out of place in the otherwise fairly realistic setting to upgrade his health and weaponry.

The graphics didn't survive the transition to the DS very well. The attempt at 3d is grainy and blocky, with little of the detail shown in Assassin's Creed. The level design is especially artificial, contrasted with the occasionally improbable but still acceptable cities in the original. In Altair's Chronicles, the buildings seem much less sensibly constructed, with one village containing giant stone arches and pillars that seemed out of place amidst its otherwise low-level construction (of course, you have to follow the path up and across the pillars the continue). As a whole, they seem fairly obviously like an attempt to compress cutting-edge graphics into a portable system (see also the GBA Splinter Cell games). The sound is similarly disappointing, being barely noteworthy in any sense of the word.

As a whole, the game fails to live up to the original Assassin's Creed. Even on its own, it's not a very good game. Despite an attempt to use the dual screen function, it seems more like a gimmick than an actual gameplay point. This game just doesn't have anything that the original did; everything, from story to gameplay to technical things, is eclipsed by the original.

4/10.

Truly an amazing game from a production viewpoint. Not many games that were taken this seriously on the NDS. I'm sure it was meant for DS gamers wanting a more "mature" game. If curiosity of whether the DS version is superior to iPod version brought you here, it is a matter of taste. NDS version has rougher graphics, but a physical game pad. The iPod version has much smoother graphics and even voice acting(DS game doesn't), so it has higher production values. However, I preferred the DS game because (opinion) it plays better. Lengthy game for casuals, maybe short for gamers. Fun game, considering it's portable, overall.

The good:

Side scroller with Prince of Persia / Tomb Raider type of gameplay. Good level design and good graphics.

The bad:

Controls are just horrible. Altair hardly ever does what you want him to do. Jumping from the wall-rope anywhere is an exercise in frustration.

Wasted opportunity. Yes, this is DS, it does not have the graphics power of a console, but still... Is this the best they could do with this license?

Game is very short. Took us around 8 hours, but it can probably be finished even faster.

The ugly:

This game fails the #1 design rule: don't let the player move to a different area if the player did not complete all objectives! There are at least 2 moments in the game, where a big green arrow shows you to move forward, when instead you have to do something else where you are. If you move forward, you will get stuck and have to reload the level.

An example of this stupid design decision is Level 10.1, where you have to blow up a column, before you should be moving forward. If you do not do this, you will reach a place with 3 pressure plates. An unsolvable puzzle, if you missed the 'unmarked', no-Green-Arrow objective.

Overall: Buy this only if you must ... I love the XBox 360 Assassin's Creed, but this DS game has nothing to do with that.

I would recommend not to buy this game.

From 14 year old.

Came with case and booklet, my parents allowed me to try this game out on the DS to make sure that the handheld worked. It was very fun despite the fact that they gave me 5 minutes to try it. I have watched youtube videos on it and I personally really like it. I do recommend this game for your DS.

This is a very nice capture card. I have been using Avermedia capture cards for over a year now and this card is the newest and best capture device they have to offer when it comes to capturing gameplay. I Post gaming footage every day on my youtube channel and this card, along with the Live Gamer HD, have proven themselves to be real workhorses. With the new Rec Central software you have the option to scale the bitrate so you can choose between small file sizes or extreme quality.

On a rare occasion maybe once out of 50 recordings the audio will desync or just not be there and the TS video format does not load audio in Sony Vegas. Often vegas will not recognize the correct frame rate of the video file which is easily corrected by checking "disable resample" but it would be nice if I didn't have to do this. Minus 1 star for those reasons.

I had been using the Elgato Game Capture HD to record my gameplay and commentary videos for YouTube. Some games worked OK, others would continually give me a black screen that would flash on the gameplay monitor which made it impossible to make a video that didn't have me stopping and waiting for the black screen to go away or flat out getting killed. I was well aware of the advanced tab and tried every last combination to rid myself of this problem, to no avail. The problem appeared to be game specific with some games working fine and others giving me the black screen. Honestly it wasn't worth it to keep fiddling with the Elgato. I was about to look at the Hauppauge when I ran across the LGP and decided to give it a try.

I got the Live Gamer Portable, unboxed it and decided to try out the PC-Free recording first since that was the simplest thing to set up and didn't require me to move the laptop and everything else into the room that I record in. Setup was a breeze. 3 wires, turn on the system, start playing and hit the button on the top. (Make sure to format the SD card to FAT32 so it actually works). I decided to try the game that was giving me the endless Black screen issues on the Elgato as my test recording. Everything worked without a hitch. No black screens, no lag, no problems at all. I did several recordings of 15-20 minutes and then took the SD card out, plugged it into my laptop slot and viola the video was there and looked great.

Next I decided to bring the laptop in and setup for recording with commentary to see how that worked. Setup was simple, just like the Elgato. Just flip the switch on the LGP from PC-Free to PC capture, start the software and you are ready to go. I did have to play with the level of the microphone versus the game volume to get it just right, but that only took about 10 minutes of fiddling. Once everything was set I saved the profile and use that for my commentary videos.

One thing I will point out comparing the Elgato to the LGP the LGP does all of the work for you and uses a lot less system resources than the Elgato when recording on the PC. I don't use a top of the line laptop to record and with the Elgato I had to record at a max of 720p at the lowest quality settings in order to not get frame drops. Using the exact same laptop and the LGP I am able to record at 60fps and at the highest quality settings without frame drops or lag. The Elgato has a very noticeable lag from the game monitor to what you are seeing in the preview window of the software on your PC. If you are not careful and don't wait for the system to catch up, you can lose a couple of seconds of your recording and cut off the end of your commentary.

The LGP does not have the lag issues, probably because the capture device does all the conversion right there before it hits your PC. With the Elgato, you have to wait for the system to convert the video and if your system isn't very powerful, you will have to wait for the conversion to finish before you record again or risk frame drops and messed up audio sync. With the LGP, what goes to your computer is the finished video, no waiting for conversion and no drain on system resources.

A couple of other things which make the LGP a better device:

You have the choice of recording your commentary as a separate audio file. While this doesn't seem like a big deal, if you decide your commentary wasn't that great and that you would rather just put up the gameplay video, you will have to re-record or spend a lot of time editing out your commentary in another piece of software. With the LGP, you just throw away the commentary file and use the video without having to do any more work. That's a real win! If you don't want to do the commentary as a separate file with the LGP you also have the option to go ahead and record it as one file, just like the Elgato does. The big difference is that you have a choice as to how you want to record your commentary. You don't risk having to re-record or spend time editing out bad commentary.

PC-free recording is a huge advantage, especially if you either don't have a pc near your gaming station or if you just want to take the device to a friend's house to do some recording. Add to all of that the fact that you can put the device on your PC and record to you SD card without using system resources while PC gaming and you just have another plus that the Elgato can't match.

For me, the LGP is the superior device. It gives me more options as to how I am going to record. It allows me to record PC-Free, even if I am gaming on the PC itself, which allows me to save system resources. The LGP fixed the black screen issue and the software that does the recording on your PC gives you more options as to how to record your commentary. IMHO the LGP is the device to get.

The only thing I would like to see updated would be a change to the RECentral software that allows you to setup the system to mute or reduce the game volume while you are talking. This would save some time in setup for users who don't want to mess with adjusting the commentary volume and gameplay volume so that both can be heard. Other than that, the product works flawlessly right out of the box.

Pros

+ Portable capture device with 720P 60FPS in PC-Free Mode

(1080P 30FPS with the beta patch)

+ Small file sizes

+ Easy to understand

(Blue ring for PC mode, Red Ring for PC-Free, flashing ring for when it's recording or streaming)

+ Easy Interface

(Novice and beginner options are easy to follow if you don't know much about video encoding. Pro option is simple with some knowledge of video encoding)

+ Can stream out of the box with RECentral

+ The time shift feature to go back and save footage that you didn't click record on is a nice touch

+ Many encoding options in PC Mode. Up to 1080P 30FPS and 60Mbps bitrate. 720P goes up to 60FPS with 60Mbps bitrate. TS or MP4 video format.

Cons

PC-Free only uses 4Mbps, 8Mbps, 12Mbps, 16Mbps at 720P with 60FPS. The beta patch as of May 23rd allows 1080P at 30FPS

(It would be nice for a a higher bitrates for a clearer picture, but I wish you could choose 30FPS with the 720P option as it'll use less space when you're just gonna upload unedited footage straight to YouTube which only runs at 30FPS at the moment, so the extra space for the extra frames aren't needed)

The lower bitrate's when streaming with RECentral aren't very good compared to using other streaming software

(XSplit, Open Broadcaster Software)

Timeshift only works with the TS video format.

SanDisk 32 GB Class 4 SDHC Flash Memory Card SDSDB-032G-AFFP

These are rough estimates of the amount of space you'll take up with an hour of PC-Free Mode footage:

8Mbps (3.6GB)

12Mbps (5.4GB) ~ Default Setting

16Mbps (7.2GB)

Video capture cards have come a long way in the last several years. When I started YouTube 4 years ago there were only 2 products available. The Hauppauge HDPVR and the BlackMagic Intensity Pro. Since then many devices have come to market and I have personally tested the majority of them. In order of date of purchase this list includes:

Hauppauge HDPVR

BlackMagic Intensity Pro

BlackMagic Intensity Extreme

Avermedia Live Gamer HD

Roxio Game Capture HD Pro

When I was asked to test out the Avermedia Live Gamer Portable (ALP) I was skeptical about another device entering an already saturated market. However Avermedia has taken the Livegamer Portable into another class of capture cards by adding several key features that separates it from the rest of the pack. The first being the ability the record in PC Free mode directly onto a SD Card (sold separately). As it's name suggests this makes it the first truly "Portable" Device on the market today. Its important to note that PC Free capture is limited to 720p. The second key feature is the seamless capture of PC footage that has replaced the use of third party programs such as Dxtory and Fraps. The main benefit that the ALP offers over these programs is the minimum CPU resources it requires since the H.264 encoding is performed directly onto the device. It is also now possible to record PC footage with two or more GPU's in SLI or Crossfire without screen latency. I personally run two GTX 690's in Quad SLI and and cannot record a series via Dxtory or Fraps without frame latency caused by the second card. PC Free Recording and PC Capture optimization are the two key features that the ALP has over its competitors. My complete list of pros and cons are listed below.

Pros:

Can do everything the other products do.

REC Central remains the most user friendly software on the market.

One touch record button directly built onto the device.

PC Free Mode that can capture footage at 720p.

Full 1080p XBOX 360 & Nintendo Wii U recording. PS3 limited to 720p via an included dedicated cable due to HDCP protection.

True 1080p PC quality. Due to high CPU resource consumption most YouTuber's that use Dxtory or Fraps capture at 50-75% quality and upscale video to 1080p.

High end PC's running multiple GPU's no longer suffer frame latency.

Cons:

Recording Limited to 1080p @ 30fps. No 2560x1440+ support. 30fps adequate as YouTube down scales all video to 30fps.

Video playback is limited to 60hz (60fps). Those with 120+hz PC monitors will be automatically down scaled

If your GPU does not have an HDMI output you will need to purchase an DVI-HDMI adapter. I used the one included from a previous purchase of the PCI-E Live Gamer HD.

Separate audio amp or device needed if you plan to use headphones. I use the Astro A40 Mixamp.

No MacOSX Support

PC Setup is a bit difficult (I have a tutorial on my channel)

Overall the Avermedia Live Gamer Portable is one the most versatile capture devices I have used so far. Due to its user friendly interface and PC capture optimization it has a permanent place on my desk and is always connected. If you are interested in capturing game footage at home or on the go you can't go wrong with the Avermedia Live Gamer Portable.

EDIT: After roughly 4 weeks of normal usage (generally 6 hours a day) my device crapped out and would no longer be recognized by my pc. I grueled through the replacement process (which was a week of back and forth with customer support) and after two weeks later, I got my replacement. My replacement had a new issue where it was cutting off the video signal everytime a black screen popped up (ie loading transitions). Not acceptable to me. I had to bite the bullet and return this item despite how much I loved using this device. I actually did a video review as well as streamed constantly with the device, and it when it worked, it worked great. Unfortunately, I cannot live with crapping out hardware, as this experience does not bode well with me. I'm going to find an alternative.

I've been doing a lot of research in the past months for a viable capture card that is capable of meeting my needs. I am proud to say that the Avermedia Live Gamer Portable exceeds all of my expectations and really sets itself apart from it's counterparts.

I've streamed and recorded footage from Xbox 360 and PS3 seamlessly through the avermedia software. Not to mention having a neato hot button so you don't have to be by your computer. It's so convenient to be able to stream and tweak the settings within the same program (I am not familiar with how to use xsplit or obs). Commentary is easy to add (you have the option of exporting a seperate mp3 file for your voice recording). PC free mode is a nifty feature, especially if you don't have a computer handy.

However I originally had some problems with the software. First, I had a hard time getting my ps3 to display correctly. Since the PS3 can't capture through HDMI thanks to HDCP, you have to use a proprietary cable to connect directly to your capture card. Sounds easy enough, right? Wrong. In order to get the screen to display, you need to set up a profile in the avermedia software and set it to component and then click the ready button. I had to figure this out myself and it was quite frustrating for my first experience, so I hope you can learn from this. Also, I had a problem to where the software would not recognize any of my microphones (however reinstalling the software somehow remedied this).

The HDMI cable it comes with is too short. I thought this wouldn't be a problem but it's useless to me. The usb cable it comes with is also in my opinion too short if I'm connecting it to my pc.

One thing I can proudly say is the device does not introduce any input lag, when playing rhythm games there is no change in performance. There's also no loss in quality to my tv.

Overall, there are still definitely some hitches in the software (which will definitely be fixed with updates) but honestly, you can't get a better usb capture card than this. Hopefully it can record next gen consoles.

NBA Live 10 - Xbox 360

I really don't know what happened this year. Reports claim that a lead game designer for NBA 2K left the company and is now with EA. That may or may not be true, but it doesn't matter...what matters is that EA got it right this year. NBA Live 10 is easily the best Live in the series, and I personally think the on-court gameplay is smoother and more exciting than the NBA 2K series...and this is coming from a HUGE fan of 2K's basketball mechanics.

There are so many great looking dunks, steals, fadeaway jumpers, etc, etc...the animations in this game are just awesome. The game is super-fluid and feels like it's running at 60FPS (not 100% sure though). I've witnessed a couple of awkward transition animations and some slight clipping here and there, but I can't recall one single framerate drop (and I notice those types of things immediately in most games). The tempo of the game feels just right, all the players movements are EXTEREMELY detailed and lifelike, the graphics are amazing, the sounds...WOW. I promise you haven't heard arena noise like this in a basketball game before. The crowd goes absolutely nuts during key moments, they explode during clutch moments when you hit a major shot, they chant "MVP, MVP" when your superstar is on a roll, they boo loudly if you attempt an ugly shot and miss, or when you on the receiving end of an ugly foul.

NBA 2K might have more player-specific animations, but I think Live is catching up quickly, plus Live's animations LOOK better in my opinion. The presentation is great, too. The pre-game warmups are all there, the highlights are slick and they're presented at the right times, the crowd and sideline animations are nearly as good as 2K's, the arenas are incredibly detailed, the players (for the most part) look like their real-life counterparts, and they even included the TNT Playoffs/Finals music. The game keeps you immersed the entire time and makes you feel like you're truly watching an NBA broadcast. The soundtrack is decent, just typical EA basketball stuff with some random forgettable hip-hop tracks.

The AI is actually pretty smart IMO, I see my AI teammates consistently running good plays, setting up nice picks, getting open when they need to, passing to the open man, etc on both ends of the court. That was one of my biggest problems w/ 2K basketball; many times the AI would just stand there until you actually called a specific play, instead of rotating positions and/or trying to get open. My only gripe is that CPU-controlled players will still randomly step out of bounds, but it only happens occasionally and it effects your team and the CPU, so it doesn't necessarily put you at a disadvantage. I'm also not a huge fan of Live's free throw shooting, since you have to hold down X until a meter fills and release it at the right time. It's okay, just not as cool as 2K's "signature shot" mechanics.

The typical EA modes are included, like dynasty, season, etc. There's actually a mode called Dynamic Season this year where you can literally play along w/ the real NBA season and update scores, team stats, etc. Also the Dynamic DNA is back so the individual player stats and tendencies will be updated daily throughout the season. It's basically a virtual NBA that you are controlling, and it has me pretty stoked. NBA 2K10 still has Live beat as far as game modes and options are concerned, especially since Live doesn't have a mode similar to 2K's "My Player", where you can create a new baller, enter the draft, join the pros and continue your path to greatness. I haven't tried Live 10's online yet, so I can't comment on that.

I bought NBA 2K games exclusively from 2K6 to 2K9. I haven't bought Live since Live 05, because I thought 2K nailed the look and feel of real basketball. I'm not saying 2K's game is bad at all this year, because it's still brilliantly designed and well executed. I'm just growing tired of NBA 2K in general, it's starting to become the next "Madden"...basically the same game every year w/ a few more polygons, new menus, some new animations, maybe a new career mode or season mode, etc.

This year I played both demos numerous times, and only one of them was making me jump to my feet, scream out loud, and pump my fist in excitement... in other words, this year's edition of Live had me totally immersed. It looks and feels like a brand new hoops game, and 2K10 felt like more of the same, just slightly more polished and refined. Some people will be totally fine with that, but I was looking for something different after becoming bored w/ 2K9 last year. For me, Live 10 delivered in a big way, so I bought it on release day and have no regrets. The game isn't perfect and some hardcore fans might still prefer 2K's style, but Live definitely took major steps in the right direction this year and unless 2K does something amazing with NBA 2K11, then I might have found my new basketball franchise.

Most of you maybe never got to play Live back in the glory days of the SNES and Genesis, but I was one of those guys who was with Live back in the beginning. (yeah, i'm old, lol). I started out with Lakers VS Celtics then one day, they started calling the game NBA Live then the legend was born. Live was the definition of fun and when I wanted my basketball fix, I played Live. What else was there? Shootout? NBA In the Zone? Nahh. Live all the way.

However, When things evolved to the 360 and PS3, something went horribly wrong for the series, then 2K picked up the pieces and left Live in the dust. But when I thought all was lost, E.A. strutted out NBA Live 09. While NBA Live 09 didn't mesmerize me, it did one thing right,, E.A.made Live fun again. Live 09 set the stage for Live 10. And man oh man, what a year can do for a game.

Live 10 is really a sick game. IGN's review of 8.2 while good for them, is still not an accurate statement. The key for any game is fun factor, and I have not had so much fun playing basketball for a good long time. NBA Live 10 does just about everything right. Spot on presentation, incredible, and I mean incredible graphics, sick disgustingly smooth animations, realistic gameplay (when you want it to be depending on your difficulty level) and the audio dept is nearly flawless.

Graphics: Okay, the players might be shiny, but why don't we just call it sweat and quit talking about it like it's a problem? Who really notices it when you see Kobe doing a windmill dunk in Dwight Howard's face? I don't care what anyone says, the graphics on Live are monumentally better than last years. Faces are animated, and the facial mapping alone is a sight to behold, especially when you see these guys up close and on replays. But what good is awesome looking player models if they don't look right? Well never fear, the animations are bar none the best I've ever seen. Its about transition from one animation to the next, and you won't see a guy on the floor magically get up with a cheap quick animation, I can't count the new animations I've seen, but you won't be able to either. Bar none, best stadiums I've ever seen. Bright, crisp, colorful and vibrant. The fans are animated nicely, and you'll be hard to find any gripes. Cheerleaders, camera man, assistant coaches, vending guys, mascots. So much to love and so much to enjoy. Graphics are nearly flawless.

Gameplay: Now I do miss the run and gun days of Live. But ya know, we've evolved and I think E.A. finally evolved the game to a nice standard that anyone can enjoy. Live can be played on any difficulty level. If you're casual, just leave it on rookie and you can be run and gun again, but if you're a fan of just NBA in general and want a realistic game, beef up that difficulty and prepare for a difficult but enjoyable experience. NBA Live 10 plays brilliantly as it looks. The computer A.I. is truly relentless and will give the most veteran fans of the series and monumental challenge for their season. NBA Live requires some pretty smart peeps at the helm to get a big win. Play calling, continuous subbing and moving the ball around is a requirement in NBA Live 10. I noticed fatigue plays a tremendous role this year and yes, guys get tired pretty fast if you leave it a the default level. You'll be taking your big name guys like Kobe and Howard quite frequently.

I love the knew quick strike controls, it took me about 5 game in the demo to get this new contorl scheme down, but it feels wonderful once you really practice at it. And while having one shoot button seems lame on paper, it's amazing when you know how to utilize it. One button does so much, it just all depends on the situation and how you're pressing on the control stick. Putting it mildly, but shoot button can do about a million things depending where you are, where you're pressing the stick, who's guarding you, and who you're controlling.

I had the most difficult time with passing and turnovers. Icon passing seems occasionally inconsistent, I'd have icon passing activated, I'd press a button and nothing would happen. I might be doing something wrong, but icon passing might need to be patched.

Defensively, Live 10 thrives with the amazing help defense when you play guys who continue to attack the paint and hte basket. The computer lockon button is still there, but the ability how your computer A.I. defense converges on the offensive guys driving is good for guys who live and die by defense. Again though, you got to call plays in Live 10 and be on your toes, as the computer A.I. is quite amazing in Live. I actually had to lower the CPU sliders about 10% on all-star difficulty and I found a good foundation on realism and challenge. The free throws are still too easy, even on higher difficulty levels, so make sure you alter that in the sliders to make it more difficult or you'll be swishing shots with shaq at the line consistently.

Sound: Marv and Kerr still repeat alot of the same stuff from last year, but nobody can deny they still make the game feel warm and cuddly. Marv and Kerr have as lot of new stuff to say this year and I love how they mesh well with the action. At times their comments don't make sense, but overall, I think these two guys are still the best in the business.

Not much else is wrong in the audio dept. Still solid sound effects, player chatter and the P.A. announcer is great. Fans of the series will notice the classic Live announcer they've had for years is gone, go back to Live 03-09 and you'll know. But the new P.A. guy sounds more realistic, sounds like the Laker P.A. guy, but it would have been nice to have different P.A. guys depending on the venues. Incredible crowd noise, music, chants of MVP on star players and boo's for the guys they hate. Everything meshes wonderfully.

Presention: Still no ESPN implimentation and no halftime show, just the usual, player hightlights and game halftime stats. It's better, but still lacking in this dept. But ya know what, the game plays so great, they can let the halftime show stink, doesn't really bother me. Stat screens are indept and fun to check out. But man, I'm sick of the micro text, people with small Tv's and no HD will be annoyed by how hard it is to read.

Final Call: Glory days have returned, no doubt about it. If you have any doubts about NBA Live this year, forget about it, this is the most complete basketball game I've ever played and I will be playing it until probaby NBA Live 11. This game is sick and well worth your 60 bucks this year. I don't care if there is another game on the shelf, you need to play NBA Live 10 and you will be hooked from the start. Thank you E.A., i'm back to your game and plan on staying. Thanks for keeping the couch all warm and cozy for me, I"ll be here for quite some time...

First off, this is finally a great game by EA! The atmosphere drags you in. Seriously, the crowd and the players react to everytyhing. After clutch made shots your player will taunt down the court and the crowd will go CRAZY! Not to say that the feature doesnt have its down falls. I was in an online match and Dirk Nowitzki hit a shot and taunted after, His man ran down the court and scored because I could not get out of that animation. Overall though, the atmosphere is great; especially in play now matches where you can choose Season, Playoffs, or Finals atmospheres.

The overall gameplay is good but there are still annoying things that will happen. When you get too close to out of bounds by the baseline. Your player will tip-toe on the line and lose the ball EVERYTIME. It really sucks. Also if you drive the lane to far inside, you will also lose the ball. It's really annoying but it can be avoided if your good enough to get inside un-avoided.

The Hangar is nothing new. It's just a place to shoot around and they'll show recent sports updates from ESPN. It is good if you need to learn timing for players shots. The Addidas Live Run is where you have 5 human players pick an NBA star and you form squads. I have only played it once but I would only play with friends seeing that you have to rely on 4 other players skills.

The Online play is very entertaining. I played alot of basketball in high school and still now, so I find myself trying to play fundamental basketball while online. IT WILL NOT WORK because people will try to cross over, run in circles or anything to get around you and get to the basket. Nobody has fundamentals and its annoying because sometimes it works for them. I have figured out how to stop it but everyone has their own things to do so. The DNA feature is also great because they update the game with real stats and tendencies of players/teams for that day. It also plays along with the DNA SEASON which you can play along with the real NBA season and play games to change the outcome to how you see fit. Its really a good feature and will probably only get better and better.

All together this is a great basketball game. Hopefully they have a patch for those quirks because there are far too many turnovers because of them. Playing this game if very fun though and NBA Live has finally gave NBA 2K solid competition. So here is my final verdict. NBA Live is fast paced and a straight to fun basketball game for anyone, but not by any means is it arcady. NBA 2K is better for basketball inthusiast's seeing that the learning curve is higher, but still great because of how realistic it is. I personally like both games but I cant speak for everyone. I bought NBA Live this year but will still purchase 2k10. Hope this review helps.

Honest reviews on NBA Live 10 - Xbox 360

I used to be a long EA sports bball fan all the way back when they used to call their games "Lakers vs Celtics and the NBA Playoffs"...up until around 2003...then I switched to the NBA 2K series and bought their games for the past few, loved it at first, then their games started to get stale...every year I download both demos and NBA 2K would get most of my attention. This year I was blown away by NBA LIVE 10, they really stepped up their game...the full game is even better! It feels like im at a real NBA game! Great NBA atmosphere!...NBA 2K10 looked and played a lot like NBA 2K9 to me and Im not much of a fan of their new features plus there players still look stiff to me, I always had an issue with that. NBA LIVE 10 is more realistic and a really fun game. The LIVE series may pass 2K by next year unless 2K step it up!

I just read online today that since NBA Elite has been delayed indefinitely, NBA Live 10 will be given all of the current roster updates as well as the DNA enhancements for the entire 2010-2011 season! So you get a full featured basketball game for this year for under $30! Not too shabby.

Another great game by Rockstar. It definately continues to push the envelope of what topics, language, and graphics are included within an "M" rating. For an adult gamer, who is not interested in cute pixie Japanese anime or warlocks/wizards/dragons...this is quite refreshing.

Gameplay covers a fair amount of the traditional GTA topics and missions. The passers-by are more varied and realistic in their portrayals. Some major differences my friends and I discovered:

1) A lot easier to pick up wanted level. And intially, until you figure out what/how to do things, harder to drop the wanted level.

2) Repeat mission capability makes it great when you wanted to show someone else that great line, inside joke, or just really fun event without having to do major amounts of 'save games'.

3) The entire map is open immediately...no road construction or police barricades to prevent you from entering an area until a certain story point. I was able to sneak into the headquarters of NOOSE (ultimate cop area) and fly a helicopter within the first 20 minutes of play.

4) Utilizing other platforms (mobile phone app, "GTA V Online) and integrating them into the game is nice. Lots of potential for future content and for other games to emulate.

Great game, has a few bugs that need ironed out. And a little bummed multplayer isn't here until Oct. 1st. This fall is a huge time for gaming. With Batman, Battlefield 4, COD: Ghosts, Assassins Creed IV, and WatchDogs (not to mention the next gen. systems) there is almost something for everyone. Bottom line get this, solid game.

Great single player game. Rockstar has done it again. I haven't played much of the online component but the single player was great fun.
