I've bought Battlefield 3 Limited Edition at launch and I've enjoyed every minute playing this game. If you have a PC powerful enough to run this game and if you multiplayer FPS, then this is the game for you. The premium service includes Back to Karkand, Close Quarter, Armored Kill, Aftermath, and Endgame. These are themed expansions.

Back to Karkand: huge maps that emphasizes vehicular and vertical gameplay.

Close Quarter: infantry-only maps for COD fans that desire ultimate mayham in 64 player matches.

Armored Kills: gigantic maps that specialize in vehicular combat.

Aftermath: fun new scavenger game mode and adds vertical gameplay.

My family had been looking for something to do as a unit and Rock Band 2 has turned out to be consistent fun for weeks now. We are two professionals with a 4-year old boy and 6-year old girl. We can enable the "no fail" mode and play pressure-free tunes at varying skill levels (if you choose to be challenged while having fun with the family). Being able to download music you want to hear or play makes the game very user friendly. We purchased a bass guitar about a week after playing with just the drums, guitar, and microphone.

Cheap Kakuto Chojin

Kakuto Chojin
Customer Ratings: 3 stars

Kakuto Chojin is a Microsoft game that tries to fill the many empty spots that X-Box has for fighting games. Is it successful in its attempt? Well, let me tell you the pros and cons of this game.

Let's start with the pros. The brightest star in this game is its really simple control scheme. You can pick up the game and start winning fights right away even if you are not used to playing fighting games. The graphic is decent it's nowhere near Virtua Fighter 4 in its quality, but it is pretty good in its own right. The color pallette used here is darker to fit the storyline. You have two meters combined, one is your energy and the other one is another meter which when full allows you to execute super moves.

Now its time to talk about the cons. This game is definitely no Soul Calibur, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, or Dead or Alive in regards to graphics. The characters' moves are basically clones of Tekken and Virtua Fighter, especially the Capoera using character (like Christy Montiero and Eddy Gordo of Tekken) whose moves are almost exactly like those Tekken characters. Also, if you play a lot of fighting games, this game may be too easy for you, as many moves can be pulled off quite simply.

Right now the weakness of X-Box is in two categories: Fighting games and RPGs. This game is definitely not going to help the X-Box much in the fighting arena.

Definitely a rental if you're still interested in trying it out, but don't say I didn't warn you.

My wife and I must be the only fans of this game. I first played it as a demo in XBOX Magazine and I liked it pretty well. I had just got my XBOX and I'm not an expert when it comes to fighting games. Now my wife on the other hand loves these kind of games. Whenever we pass by an arcade, she wants to play the fighting games. And she does well because she picks up the gameplay pretty quickly. It's always amusing to see her beat the eighteen or nineteen-year-old who plays the game for hours and she just figured out how to play.

Anyway, I had her play the demo and she loved it. So we searched and found the game at a videogame store for a nice price(this was right after the recall notice). And we have been happily pleased ever since. We both play the game at least three times a week. The only way I can explain the critics of this is that these are people who have a LOT more experience with all kinds of fighting games. And maybe they didn't give this game as much of a chance as it needed.

Here are the the pros and cons:

PROS:

Great GraphicsThey characters look amazing and they move like real people. The fighters don't look cartoony but computer animated. They must haved used real people as models because they move eeriely lifelike. The backgrounds are beautifully rendered and colorful.

Great SoundI have a Surround Sound system that takes of advantage of the Dolby Digital 5.1 the game offers. Excellent!

Every character has their own theme and the voices and sound effets are well done.

Fun GameplayThe moves are not too hard to learn and there are more than explained in the manual that comes with the game. There are two sets of moves in the game; Kakuto and Chojin. You can't access the Chojin moves without first completing the game with any character with the Kakuto moves.

CharactersThere are plenty of characters all with different styles to master. And one secret character that is available when beating the game with any one of the characters.

CONS

The ManualAfter buying the game I bought the strategy guide offered by Prima. The guide does a great job of explaining the game, the characters and ALL of the moves. Each character has at least FOURTY moves. The manual that comes with the game does a terrible job of explaing the game. At best, it is incomplete.

No Onscreen Move ListAfter playing DOA 3,MK:DA and Tao Feng, I've noticed you can access a move list in the game. It's too bad KC doesn't do this. It would be more convienent.

Finally I just wanted to say this game is a lot of fun.We have played Dead Or Alive 3, Mortal Combat:Deadly Alliance and Tao Feng: Fist Of The Lotus and they are fun but in our opinion Kakuto Chojin just has more STYLE. It's pretty unique and the characters don't seem to be like any I've seen in any other game. This may be the game's downfall as far as public opinion goes. I may buy DOA 3 and Tao Feng in the future but Kakuto Chojin is my third favorite XBOX game behind Max Payne and Halo. Microsoft did a wonderful job. I hope they don't give up on the fighting game market. I can tell they are trying to be outside the pack by making KAkuto chojin and Tao Feng.

I have played fighting games for a long time and I am still playing this great game. This game is a steal .

Honest reviews on Kakuto Chojin

If you have played fighting games before then this game is going to waste even your rental dollars.

1. Unimpressed with the visuals of the game myself. You can't see them for the most part, because there is too much distance and too many items packed into the visuals.

2. The fighting scheme was pretty simple, attack high, attack low, and repeat -vary the pattern in an ad-hoc way to keep the AI off balance and victory!!

3. Multiplayer Whoop-a** session -A nice thought. Like a pass in a basketball game that looks innovative and shows creativity, but gets stolen so does the intent of the multiplayer mode. If you've played first person shooters like Halo (where you can melee some up close in personal) then you will have a time looking at the tiny characters go at it in a battle royal. It actually reminded me of someone adding a multiplayer deathmatch mode to Hunter: The Reckoning as the game is currently played.

Overall just unimpressed and thoroughly bored with the game.

Game development: (1) Need an ENGAGING story (2)Everything else gameplay, visuals, etc. need to be in the context of the story -period. Game developers are selling fantasies or illusions where the player wants to be the character for the time that he or she is playing the game.

First off, let me clear things up. I'm a fighter fan. I've played them all, and yes I consider myself an authority. When I'm not jamming out on Street Fighter, I'm playing some Neo Geo fighter that you've never heard of. Now let me say this: Kakuto is a fantastic, focused, and addictive 3D fighter. Alot of people like to say that this game is as deep as the kiddy pool, and that its all mash.. Thats total bull. If you want a masher, go play Tekken. This game has alot of neat features that reviewers always fail to mention. People should really play the ends and outs of a game before they start bashing and start throwing out 1 star ratings As you've probobly already read, the graphics are no joke. The characters are dark, creepy, and thick and are totally original. The same goes for the stages. If I had to complain about one thing, it would be that its not all that great 1 player. You have no fancy story modes, no unlockables, blah, blah, who cares! Your supposed to play fighting game with friends anyway! I could go on and on about how cool this game really is, but I wont.. Forget all the haters and their reviews, this is the hottest new fighter to come out in a long time. Snatch it up while you still can.

Rock Band 3 - Wireless Fender Stratocaster Guitar Controller Reviews

Rock Band 3 - Wireless Fender Stratocaster Guitar Controller for Wii - Blue
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Compared to the bundled guitar from Rock Band 2, this is an evolution, but in a positive direction. The buttons have a much softer, less clicky feel, reducing the noise, and also allowing you to use less force when playing. I can play longer before my wrists start to hurt, which is a big win. The softer touch also seems more accurate, allowing me to play more by feel and sound instead of having to look at the notes on screen.

The wireless USB dongle is included, even though it is not mentioned in the description. Everything you need is in the box, unlike the Wii Guitar Hero 5 Stand-Alone Guitar which cannibalizes a regular controller.

The main plastic case has gone to a cheaper looking, matte finish, but they've also dropped the price $20, so I'm more than willing to make that tradeoff, especially when it comes with superior control. Not worth buying as a replacement for a working guitar, but an excellent way to add a guitar to your band.

This guitar started out very quiet compared to the Rock Band 2 predecessor, but after 2 weeks of heavy use and breaking it in it sounds just like the old one.

In function it is identical to the older Rock Band 2 Strat but the Wii version of this guitar is missing the sound effects slider (can't speak for the other consoles).

It comes with the USB dongle and is backward compatible with Rock Band 2 (and I'd assume RB1 as well but cannot verify).

All in all a decent replacement guitar, but nothing groundbreaking. If you liked the Rock Band 2 Strat you will like this one.

Best Deals for Rock Band 3 - Wireless Fender Stratocaster Guitar Controller

The Pros:

1. Works with all Rock Band & Guitar Hero Games!

2. The strum bar is totally silent and very responsive.

3. You can feel the quality! It's like your holding a real Stratocaster.

4. Light weight.

5. Pretty much forces you to hold and strum it like a real guitar.

The Cons:

1. Takes some getting used to (actually can be frustrating) if you don't actually play the guitar.

2. Can be uncomfortable to hold the buttons if you have short fingers.

Ok, first about the cons.... They actually become Pro #5!

I bought this guitar when it first came out. When I first tried playing it I hated it. I always played with the Guitar Hero World Tour guitar, and this is definitely a Rock Band style guitar. On top of this the strum was totally silent. I never realized how much I depended on hearing the click of the strum bar until it wasn't there. I was missing bunches of notes that I was sure I was hitting. I through it back in the box, just a little more than unhappy. About 2 weeks later I decided to learn to play with this guitar or else. After all I just spent $60 on it. After about a month of frequent playing I finally got fairly comfortable with it, after I figured out what my problem really was. I have pretty short fingers. With the fret button setup on the guitar taking up the entire width my fingers would hit the bottom of the buttons causing me to hit 2 colors thus missing notes. When I figured out how to hold the guitar so I could play using only the tips of my fingers my scores steadily improved. When I got used to the silent strum and learned to up strum with my fingers instead of just down strumming with my thumb I'm consistently beating the high scores I had with my old Guitar Hero guitar.

My Verdict:

Now that I've played with this guitar for a while I'm glad I stuck with it. I now have 4 other Guitar Hero guitars just collecting dust (Including Warrior of Rock). A couple more month with this guitar and I'll be ready to shell out the $150 for the pro guitar with actual strings. It really forces you to play the right way. Simply put apart from the above mentioned pro guitar, there is no guitar that comes close to this one! Buy it and put some time and effort into it and you will not be sorry. It's a game changer!

Honest reviews on Rock Band 3 - Wireless Fender Stratocaster Guitar Controller

I just received this peripheral today and so far so good.It came with a wireless donge and no major problems with the set up and syncing. It seems to be functioning properly; the strum bar works unlike the original RB guitar. The plastic does look a little cheaper than the previous RB2 guitar but it still looks good, love the blue color and it is still sturdy. I like that this guitar works with both RB1 and RB2, so it was worth the money for me. Especially since unfortunately GH peripherals do not work with the original RB and the setlist is sweet. Though I like this guitar for a lot of reasons: i.e. no wii remote use and ease of set up, it still is not as good as GH Red Octane when you compare comfort and functionality, because it is not as ergonomic. The frets on RB guitars are square and do not provide a lot of traction, which can lead to your finger slipping and hand cramps. GH guitars have rounded fret buttons with an indention, something to consider before purchasing. All the same I'm sure this guitar will provide hours and hopefully years of playtime and fun.

If you are looking at this guitar you probably already have the game, this is every bit the same as the one that came with Rock Band 2 for the Wii. Works great. After trying for months to get an second guitar I snatched this one up as soon as I saw it, and I was not disappointed.

These bullet buttons are great and easy to install. I onl have 2 complaints though, 1) they are really close but do not fit perfectly in the button holes, there is some wobble to them

2) (this is very slight) but the 9mm markings on the shell casings end cap point in all directions instead of down so you can read them.

Overall this is a great product and the only thing that would make them better would be a mossy oak controller shell to go along with them.

Disclaimer: This review is only for the Kinect portion of the game.

Every time I buy video games or movies without doing my homework I get burned! This game falls in that category...I bought it with the idea that you could play the whole thing with Kinect, and I was disappointed. It's not that the Kinect challenges aren't any fun, I just wish they weren't such a tiny portion of the overall game. Each challenge takes about 5 minutes to complete. I find it entertaining, just not what I'd hoped for.

Listen. I know that there are ton of people bashing this game. I am a fan of the series, and I feel like it is getting a bit of a harsh review. This game is not Gears of War. It is a licensed movie game. Based on that fact alone, you should know what you are getting into. This is not the most polished shooter in the world, but from a story telling perspective I found it to be enjoyable. The stealth sequences were fun and at times kept me on the seat of my pants. I am not a die hard gamer, so I actually enjoyed the fact that the enemies were not too difficult for me to figure out. The frantic pace of it was fun, and it left the door open for trying to find strategies for the different situations. I will say that I had a hard time telling what was good cover from the bad cover.

Overall, I think this is certainly a game that Harry Potter fans will enjoy. If you are going to see the movie, you should give this one a try. In my close circle of friends, we are split on this one. Check it out for yourself and see what you think.

i guess i didn't realize that this wasn't a true kinect game. The main gameplay is all done with the regular xbox controller. There is a kinect challenge, which is separate from the main storyline. It's kind of fun but repetitive. If you're looking for a kinect game where you get to use the kinect the whole time though, this isn't it. If you're looking for a good HP game, then go with it. The actual gameplay isn't bad if that's what you're looking for.

Keep in mind, paid $8.96 for the game and drum set...

My take is this This game really isn't bad, just isn't as good as it's competitors.

Start with the drum set, I'd read nothing but bad things about it. I have to say, I disagree with all of them. The set feels tough, works well, and has one feature that I really like... The drumsticks rest comfortably on this set, well out of the way and won't just fall off if you nudge it. My 15 month old has given it quite a beating, knocking it over and such, still works great. Oh, this has the kick pedal of any of the drum sets I've used with game systems (and I've used all of the ones currently out there).

The really good about this game starts and ends with the drum set. Everything else is fairly average. Use drums and two guitar hero/rock band guitars, and that's your game. No vocals, in this one. Not sure what happened, there. Also, I believe the tracks are all covers, but they sound pretty good. Can't complain.

This game is the perfect starting point, to see if you like the music game genre. Low price of entry, all that.

But remember, before you know it, you have 4 drum sets and 8 plastic guitars in the house...

My original Rockband 2 drum kit broke, and I needed a new kit. After looking around and finding that new or used official kit was really expensive($125+) I decided look for some alternatives. I found this bundle for $20 and decided to try it. The drum kit looks nothing like the original Rockband drumkit, and it does take some time to get use to. This design is inferior to the original Rockband drums, and can make playing the drums on any level above medium very difficult(it can be done, but expect frustration) there are also issues with the responsiveness of the drums, but again, it is something that can be dealt with, just expect frustration on harder difficulity levels. The kit itself is pretty cool the frame is metal and I really like the pedal, the only thing that hurts the product is the nonsensical layout of the drums. I would suggest this kit to anyone looking for an incredibly cheap drum kit to use with friends whenever you have a couple of people over, but do not get this kit if you want to master the drums at the expert level.

As far as the game goes.... I never played it. I read enough reviews to know that I do not want the actual game anywhere near my 360.

So we received the Drum Set and tried it out right away its going to take a little getting use to, but once we have the hang of it, it should be fun. Thanks

Got this for my handicapped son for Christmas for a great price. He is a little hesitant to play because he has to get accustomed to it. But he is getting more accurate and seems to really like it. Easy to assemble, way better quality than I thought it would be, I suggest it as a fun toy to go with the Guitar Hero game(s) since the guitars can be used with this game and these drums can be used with some GH games.

I bought this because it was the Videogame Deal of the Day.

Big mistake. The game is 99% covers (not original Master Recordings) and the one Master is a Linkin Park song.

For parents or family shopping for an inexpensive music game as a gift: Please do your loved-one a favor and do not get them this game.

If you've read this far and still haven't run for the hills, the game is horrible. Graphics are sub-par and the cover songs sound like someone singing in the shower. Oh, the drumkit is shoddy and the note-highway is a vertical waterfall of jumbled mess. Just skip this poor attempt at cashing-in on rythm game popularity.

Aksys' newest releases, outside of the stellar "BlazBlue" franchise, have been leaving me in the cold. A lot of the titles they've been cranking out recently come across as blatant pitches to snag the smallest niche of anime fans, with uninspired plots, girls with chests bigger than their head, and an emphasis on cheesecake versus original characters and good gameplay. Coming from a lifelong anime fan, that's saying something. Now, on the surface, the "Agarest War" franchise looked no different. Here we had marketing reliant on the sexualization of the female characters and no real information about the game itself, and the bonus items which came with the collector's editions reeked of sleaze. Superficially, I hated the game. But with its devoted fanbase, and because a friend with connections pulled aside a copy because he thought I'd like it, I decided to give this new entry a go. Lo and behold, it has turned out to be one of the rare RPGs I plan on playing to completion. "Record of Agarest War 2" is nothing groundbreaking, but it's unique and original enough to merit a play.

The plot starts you off in the shoes of Weiss, who has killed a god but lost all memory of the incident. After a chance encounter with a mysterious and buxom woman clad in borderline dominatrix gear, he is informed that he is in fact to serve as a vessel to atone for the sin of slaying a god, and if he fails his task, he must shack up with a woman and create a child that will serve as a new vessel. As the game progresses, you will indeed have to do just that, and through the span of multiple generations, you'll fight hoards of demons, score with some lovely ladies, and uncover the destiny of your bloodline.

Now, this generation spanning is something that has apparently been a focal point of the entries prior to this one, but as a first-time player, I have to admit that it's absolutely fascinating. Depending on how you interact with the woman you choose as your bride, and how you adjust your statistics through battling, your protagonist's predecessor will change. The sheer notion of a piece of entertainment having such an in-depth feature is definitely a sign that there are some things the interactive medium can do that movies and books will simply never be able to. In fact, I feel that this should have been a primary selling point instead of the cleavage and rear ends of the admittedly attractive ladies in the game.

As far as the gameplay goes, it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. While I play plenty of JRPGs, and a decent amount of the occasional SRPG, I found myself kind of lost when it came to navigating the plethora of statistics, menus, and other things. While the core combat system is actually quite good (an interesting mix of turn-based fighting mixed with the speed, action and control of a hack-and-slash game, coupled with a dual-grid system), the amount of effort it takes to plan out what gear to equip and whatnot is just irksome. It definitely feels like the developers were intending to make the game come across as "deeper" by just adding more hoops to jump through than necessary. The experience as a whole could have benefited from some serious reduction in menu clutter.

What makes up for this, in a way, is the very snazzy way battles are paced. There are three or four different types of maps you will find yourself navigated. One is the standard World Map that you run around on to get from one place to another. While you will still encounter random battles, you also have the option to trigger a battle at any time. When grinding for levels, this is an indispensable feature that other RPGs with random encounters should take note of. Having the ability to sit in one place and grind levels until you feel confident enough to progress is a very empowering feeling. The second type of map you'll be navigating are what you might call this game's "dungeons." Bridging areas of the World Map are smaller maps that are divided into several different zones that you progress through in a board game-like fashion. Each tile you progress to instigates a battle, and you can fight as few or as many times as you like. There are diverging paths that feature treasure and other goodies to claim, as well as tiles that will help you meet requirements on the main town's commission board, which will net you spells, armor, and ingredients required for alchemy and blacksmithing.

Speaking of towns, it houses the third kind of map you'll see. It's a menu that you pick locations on, and then go to them. Pretty straightforward, I know, but it segways into the second major focal point of this game: the dating sim aspect. Now, "Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love" set my standard for what to expect from a dating sim/RPG hybrid, and while this certainly doesn't exceed that experience in my book, due to the fairly limited range of conversation, it does almost match it. What it does beat that game in, however, are the production values. Instead of static images, the lovely ladies (and handsome men, if you're into that) are fully animated, living and breathing, all with unique animation that creates an interesting 2D/3D hybrid. This makes the experience as a whole so much more engaging than many other games that try and touch the SW franchise's signature dating sim/RPG blend. I enjoyed getting to know the cast through the interactions, and despite the aforementioned limited conversational choices, it's a defining feature that sets it apart from imitators.

However, while the overall story arc and character development is exceptional in "RoAW2", I have a serious bone to pick with the dialogue. If you're familiar with the worn cliche many gamers hold about JRPGs, about them having seemingly endless amounts of inane banter that is ultimately redundant, then you know where I'm going with this complaint. To be entirely honest, several lines of conversation in this game have bored me to death, and I like to think that I have a pretty large attention span. But it can't be helped. Characters repeat each other's dialogue, and characters making awkward pauses such as, "Uh-!", "Oh, uh-!" or the infamous "...", happens way too often, frequently occurring multiple times in a row with certain characters. I'm not saying the dialogue is awful, but it's tiresome and wears on the nerves after a while, making the experience seem longer than it is. An "autoplay" option helps alleviate the pain somewhat, but only a bit. The story is good, the characters are great, but the dialogue needed some serious work. Also, the font and styling of the text is formatted in a very odd manner. Things are surrounded by hyphens when they should be either italicized, capitalized, or put into quotations, making the emphasis in some dialogue only understandable when the voice actor actually speaks it. Also worth noting is that there is no English voice track. That doesn't bother me one bit, but some may be deterred by that.

Graphically, the game is quite pretty. What really stands out are the exceptional monster designs. Most of the enemies break free of the typical trappings of fantasy RPGs, and some of them are surprisingly frightful to gaze upon. The environments are nice and varied, and the character art is very crisp and appealing to look at. That same overall sentiment can be echoed for the soundtrack, which is infectious and passable enough to give praise to. Nothing too new, but nothing terrible. Overall, pleasant and helps to whisk you off into the fantasy world of the game, which is sometimes too much to ask some soundtracks for. It's always nice when it does happen, though.

With Square Enix focused on running their two main franchises into the ground, and Atlus branching out into new, more varied territory, it's nice to see Aksys putting out a game that screams niche. But furthermore, it's nice to see that some of these games are quite good, such as this one. While "Record of Agarest War 2" will not change your life, it will entertain and thrill you. Futhermore, it will draw you into its own little world, and with games of this variety, what more can you really ask for? This is a solid little game with plenty of nice imagery, a good story, and memorable characters; in this critic's opinion, it's a great title to spend your Summer downtime working on.

P.S.: A couple of notes on the Limited Edition of the game. The artbox it comes in is pretty and well-designed, and is decked out with art that differentiates from that of the cover illustration, so if you're into collecting those like I am, then you'll be pleased to know it will look great on your shelf. Now, the main draw here is definitely the blow-up doll of catgirl Felenne, and trust me, it's every bit as adorable as it looks. What's refreshing is that the plastic used for it isn't the cheap stuff; this thing seems pretty durable, and it's a decent size as well at around 9 inches (10 if you count her cat ears.) As for the hand towel, it has exclusive character art on it, and it is wrapped in a heart-shaped sandwiched between two pictures of Fiona; it reads "A Wonderful Tower Experience." Yeah, nothing sexual about that at all, huh? Speaking of sexual things, there's the art book. Now, I was a little disappointed by the paper quality of the book, because it's really just the same kind of glossy paper used for higher-end instruction manuals. As for the illustrations, well, erm... they'll all pretty dang suggestive. I mean, we're talking borderline softcore pornography, or as fellow anime fans would refer to it as, "ecchi." If you're living with your parents, maybe you shouldn't show this to mom and dad. If you've got a girlfriend, fiance or wife who's easily ruffled, hide this. If you live all by your lonesome, then, well... enjoy yourself, I guess.

Record of Agarest War 2 is the official sequel to the first Agarest game released in North America in 2010. Like that game and its prequel, Zero, the story follows an amnesiac protagonist whose only purpose in the game is to atone for a grave sin he forgot he committed in the past. While this plot element is nothing new to this series, or any jrpg for that matter, it is a key component to the generational gradient in which the story unfolds and also the character relations, which are well thought out, interesting, and many times comical.

A tremendous change to the series is the revamped battle system, which borrows heavily from Cross Edge. Instead of choosing six main characters to fight with and level up, you now choose four characters and everyone levels up equally whether or not they participate in battle. Skills and combo compatibility remain the same, and you can still link characters to perform combos and larger attacks, but the manner in which this is done is very different. It's all planned beforehand in a menu where you assign all your skills to the four face buttons and during that process you can see which combos you can execute. Now, I know I'm only summarizing combat but believe me when I say that it is much, much more detailed than is worth getting into right now. Agarest vets might grasp it easier than first timers simply due to familiarity with the menus and the high level of customization, but if you've ever played (and enjoyed) a Disgaea game, none of this should seem too difficult either. It really does depend on your familiarity with strategy rpgs, or at the very least, your willingness to overcome a relatively high learning curve.

Moving on, then, what truly makes the Agarest games unique is that you get to play through generations of the first hero's lineage, meaning in gen 2 you command his son, and in gen 3 his grandson. Making this aspect even more impressive is that in each generation the hero can choose one of three select women to bear his son, and depending on whom you choose skills, weapon proficiency, and physical appearance will vary. As you progress throughout the story you will engage in conversations and events with the heroines and your subsequent actions determine their affection levels towards you, which also affect the aforementioned stats. A high affection with one lady will yield stronger progeny, that is unless you created the initial hero (Weiss) with abilities that align to the heroine.

As you may assume from that last line, character creation factors into your heroes' play style. You choose from three basic classes (warrior, sorcerer, and battle mage) and then customize that base in various ways that you think would best suit your preferences. This is a similar process to Zero but it seems to be a bit more streamlined and intuitive here. Once you're done you'll get to see your Weiss and be able to go back and change whatever you want in case you're dissatisfied. Some people spend hours on this alone, and admittedly it is pretty fun.

Maps in this Agarest game come in three flavors. A free roam field is a nice departure and is made even more enjoyable by the ability to activate random encounters at the push of a button. The second type is the traditional Agarest layout where you navigate various points on a field by connecting the dots, as it were, but in Agarest 2 this layout has been reserved exclusively for "dungeons" since the world map is now free roam. The third type is town maps, which are really neat this time around. Unlike previous Agarest games which only had four or five points of interest (item shop, blacksmith, etc.), Agarest 2 has several, each with its own purpose in advancing the story and building on character interactions. Not only do you delve deeper into the hero and heroine relations but also the townsfolk, which is really nice, and as an added bonus it even overlaps with side quests.

As for side quests, the title system has evolved into a "commission" system, which is essentially a job list posted by Agarest's denizens. Upon completion of a commission you get useful rewards and occasionally you get to meet the people who posted the job and earn secondary rewards and witness additional character/world development.

Two complaints come to mind, the first of which isn't so much a complaint as a personal gripe, and that is Agarest 2 doesn't seem to contain the same comedic value as the previous games. Jainus, for example, has been toned down incredibly from past games' equivalents, Winfield and Eugene, and there seems to be an overall paucity of humorous events scattered between the "serious" ones. For a series known for its humor this is sorely missed, especially since the story, admittedly, isn't profoundly interesting or groundbreaking.

The second complaint is that the game, upon initial loading of a save file, suffers from horrendous lag. It's inexcusable because not only is this a sprite based game, but also combat is time based, approaching a QTE semblance, which means accuracy takes a frustrating backseat until the game catches up to itself. Lag even plagues the menu screens, which again is inexcusable in a game that derives much of its playability from menus. A simple install feature would fix this problem but mysteriously the developers omitted one, unlike previous Agarest games.

Overall, Agarest 2 is so different from its predecessors yet it retains a lot of features that still make it worthy of its moniker. I don't even necessarily miss the old battle system, as much as I loved it, because the new one is fresh and fun despite being in many ways overly complicated. "Overly" because the game doesn't do a grand job at explaining its mechanics but once you grasp it you'll be switching out characters like crazy and stressing over which skills to learn, and in this case "stressing" is used positively because it is absolutely addictive. And that pretty much sums the game and the series for that matter. Addictive because there are tons of stats, weapons, and characters to manage. The developers have opened up the interactive portions of the game as well, adding more things to do such as bathhouse mini games, while streamlining combat in what might appear to be a better balanced game. Keep in mind, though, this is still very much a hardcore strategy game despite the fresh coat of paint. New players might do better to try a previous entry in the series, but if you're determined to play this one first, try reading my brief guide in the regular edition review, as it will help tremendously to understand the meat of the game (combat). With that said, enjoy!

I still recall when I first played Suikoden I after buying it at Babage's (remember that store, Millennials? It later became EB Games)... anyway, when I played Suikoden I (and then II), I recall an incredible story, great anime-style graphics, and the game really "stayed" with me. Although Record of Agarest War II is not to that level, the game was fun, filled with great anime-style characters, and fun story.

When Suiko I came out, it was a "Sleeper hit" in the USA. Now it is hailed as a classic, the "holy grail" of the PlayStation era for RPG players. I think Agarest War 2 will be one of the games in the long run. That is, if players are willing to forgive the game for some flaws. I will explain below. Some players love it and some hate it there seems to be no middle ground on this game. The problem here is that some people don't like what is essentially a mix between 80s and today's RPG equipments, dialogs/story, and etc,. Many players are simply too lazy to read the dialog and story to REALLY get into the game. Others are too lazy to want to customize their characters to win battles with more ease and then grow in levels. RPGs are heavy on leveling and unless you grew up in the 80s and 90s when RPG "grinding" was the norm, you will have a hard time enjoying real RPGs today.

One of the chief complaints about this game is the Japanese voices were never subbed in English. That is a huge problem for me too (and many other RPG gamers), but I always turn off the voice chat anyway, as I rather read the speech-balloons. :) So that is an individual preference. The other complaint is the menus, which are heavy on % hit rations and statistics and such, which seems too technical for some. I don't mind it, as I like to optimize the characters, weapons, and such, but again,l I grew up in the late 80s playing RPGs like Shining Force, Sguining n the darkness, Suikoden, and others, where that is what we had to do to barely make it... nowadays, the games are so easy, they are ridiculous. So when Agarest 2 came up with an "old school" battle system, some people complained about being "too much work" to have to outfit characters properly. The menus are sometimes too much, but not enough to kill this great game for me. And I have not even played the other Agarest War games in the series.

The game has a lot of cool features that far outweigh the negatives. The battle system is basically a blended an RPG battle system, an active fight system with a turn-based RPG combat, and some hack-and-slash action all blended into one. They also included a "generational" aspect to the game, where you can leave a "legacy" through family, somewhat like Phantasy Star III (Genesis). They really focused on making it more "unique" in that sense. This is also a JRPG (Japanese-based RPG game) and there is plenty of "fan service" (hot anime ladies in tight outfits some that are hot in the "cute" sense of the way and others that are sleazy). I like the cute ones better, but each to their own.

The game world is plain GORGEOUS. Full anime-style, all beautifully drawn and colored. I fell in love with anime games in the Genesis and PlayStation, so this is these games "on steroids" in terms of graphical color and beauty. Just awesome. You have also an weapon and magic system that is based on gathering items to make them into weapons and such. This is a system that has been expanded in games like the "Atelier" series games or the alchemy games that were out in force on the PS2 and the current generation consoles.

This game also has a date-sim aspect (think True Love on the PC) or Thousand Arms on the PS1... or even Sakura Wars:" So Long My Love on the PS2. Date sims these days have gone downhill whereas they have morphed into plain old Hen-tai garbage that you hit "skip" on chat dialogs and wait for "it". This is NOT one of these cases. You have to play an actual game (not just read dialogs) to grow and beat enemies and as an added bonus, you get to meet the lovely ladies and date them. They are actual characters that require development and interaction with. The dialog has been well-translated into English and they use emphasis (italics, bold, caps, etc) to make it understandable what the tone of the conversation is.

The Limited Edition (LE) comes with "naughty" anime pillowcase and doll and a semi-naked girl towel as bonuses, which I think the wife would frown upon, but it is all good, they can stay in the box. LOL It also comes with an artbook, which is great if you enjoy character development... and cute anime girls in either sleazy and cute positions/outfits. I like the cute/lovely ones, but that is a personal preference type:)

Overall, this is a very good game, save for the few flaws mentioned. You will be drawn to the story, but don't expect a Suikoden II quality and caliber of story. This is still a great game that can be enjoyed thoroughly and I believe it will receive its place in gaming history for RPG fans over time. This is not Suikoden and it sure isn't a Shining Force caliber-story, but the game world, date-sim aspects, and character development will sure pull you in and you will enjoy the game to the end. Give it a try, you might really like it.

This is a basic spaceship game where you fly around destroying objects.

No saving functions, just 3 lives and game over when you die 3 times, and that's frustrating. It took forever but I finally destroyed the first boss using dodging tactics to defeat him.

I never got farther than the third level, where ground level tanks are waiting to blast you.

a very basic shoot-'em-up with only 6 stages. i found it fairly easy with the exception of the 4th boss which is annoyingly difficult. after you beat it there's a hard mode with more bullets but not all that much harder. as an early game boy game it's not bad, but there are a lot better shoot-'em-ups, even for game boy.

In the XBox version of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe movie, the game mixes in video footage from the movie with action game fighting, coin collecting and obstacle climbing.

If you've played a platformer/adventure game before, you have a fair idea of what's involved here. You bash random objects to see if coins or special tokens emerge. You climb up trees. You kill random enemies that come at you. You get to checkpoint at spots along your path, in case death visits you. At the end of each level, you get your coins and tokens tallied up, and get a rating of how well you did.

You have an incentive to gather as much as you go the more coins you get, the more special abilities you unlock. Those skills really help you as you get into the more challenging areas of the game.

Since you have the four main characters from the book and movie, each character has his or her own special abilities. You often have to switch from character to character to get past an area having the young Lucy climb up onto objects, having the stronger Peter bash at doors or wolves. There are even combo moves where two characters interact together in order to solve a problem.

The graphics are reasonably good for the XBox platform. There are many transitions between the video cinematics and the in-game graphics which really help to ensure you feel a part of the story. If you want quick gaming, you might get frustrated there is a lot of movie to sit through, to build the atmosphere for you. However, if you really enjoy the storyline, you'll be thrilled. You get a lot of the background and interaction to give you meaning for what you're doing.

Some of the gameplay is a little more annoying than it should be. There are missions where you have to figure out a timed path. There isn't any real rhyme or reason to the path you just keep trying paths and failing until by default you end up with the correct one. Ditto to the "find the [insert object name here]" kinds of missions.

Also, the camera is *really* annoying. There are many spots where you want to turn around and examine the area, but you can't. In the modern world of gaming, there's really no reason for a fixed camera angle.

Still, for people who love the movie, this is a great, fun way to get involved in the movie storyline. There is fighting, but it's a mild style of wolf-bashing type of combat.

Well recommended.

Worked exactly as it should. Was very nervous, but it works perfectly. Just remember to take off the cooling pads on the IC chips that sit under where this template sits, for a nice flush fit. Then don't forget to put them back on when you're done.
