Reviews of Xbox 360 Rock Band Wireless Fender Telecaster Player's Edition

Xbox 360 Rock Band Wireless Fender Telecaster Player's Edition Replica - Sunburst

I'm an avid RB player with literally 90% of the DLC, and got every official instrument so far, including all three Beatles guitars.

I WAS hoping to get the butterscotch for $100, but since amazon canceled my order due to unavailability, I just went for the sunburst.

The whole body has a matte finish, which is fingerprint-less, which is a nice touch compared to my dust-magnet Beatles guitars.

The buttons are awesome. Almost no click and no fret between buttons. I thought it would throw me off but my muscle memory knew where the buttons were. Might be harder for beginners. Anyway, these things are unbelievable in HOPOs. I was doing Stevie Ray Vaughn songs and crazy solos with ease. Chord changes were also a cinch. Definitely worthwhile if you feel your fingers tripping on a regular controller.

The touch pad works great. any slight touch will trigger it but it's placed just right so your strumming doesn't accidentally touch it. The problem now is whether to tap or wail during alt-strumming parts.

The strum bar is clicky, and it seems to register at the end of the strum instead of the beginning. Not too big a problem unless you strum really lightly. I also found myself breaking combo when wailing during alt-strumming parts. Then again I haven't played Everlong in a while. The alternating O-B while you're holding G part felt smooth though. If you start losing your focus or get lazy it will punish you.

The whammy bar is slick. You have to use your whole hand though, so you can't sneak extra points on every hold. There's a felt piece attached to the bottom so it doesn't scratch your pickguard.

The knob only goes one way for start, which made me think, 'why is there no back button?'

I was ticked that there was no back button, then I realized back was overdrive, so ergo the touch pad was the back button. pretty cool.

Overall, a better body, much better buttons, a more authentic whammy bar, and another useful way to hit overdrive. If you haven't wasted all your money on the Beatles yet, this is a worthy investment in your pursuit of rocking out. I won't recommend this to beginners or casuals. This controller puts your skills to the test, and will reward you if you can handle it.

I was looking for a bass guitar, but saw this new one by Mad Catz and the sunburst, 'used' look was a selling point for me. The controller has a nice weight to it and fret keys a good feel. The strum bar seem's a bit loose and although a good idea, the 'overdrive' bar is way to sensitive for my liking. It initiates overdrive automatically way to often for my likes (especially when I'm trying to co-ordinate length of it between fellow players). The whammy bar is pretty stiff, but I like it actually. That and I'm starting to detect a squeaking noise with it. But it could be that it's just new and needs to 'settle in'. Overall I like it, but the sensitive overdrive bar is an issue that at times makes me switch to another guitar.

In contrary to a prior review, my son and I actually love this peripheral. Yes the strum bar clicks a bit, but it's in no way obtrusive during game play. People complaining about this would likely also complain about the subtle "whirring" noise heard inside the newer rock band 2 guitars from the accelerometer...again something that is unnoticeable during gameplay. And, to clarify further, the whammy bar rotates out of the way just like all other rock band guitars. The spring is more firm, however I wouldn't down grade my review based on this as individual preferences in regard to feel are highly variable I am sure. The half frets are really nice and very responsive. I actually find it easier to move up in difficulty levels using this guitar. The touch sensitive star power/beatlemania activation bar is a nice addition. A simple light brush of the finger is all it takes to activate. You can still tip the guitar or use the plug in overdrive pedal as well. And finally, the aesthetics of this thing are amazing. Its priced a bit higher than original equipment RB2 guitars, but comparable to RB Beatles gear if you were considering those. Of note, Harrison played a real Fender Telecaster as well.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Rock Band Wireless Fender Telecaster Player's Edition

I play bass 99% of the time. I have worn out the wired Rock Band guitar that came with Rock Band. I can't get the hang of fingering the back button on the Rock Band wireless. The sunburst telecaster is almost the perfect replacement.

The whammy is not the flimsy, adjustable lever on the Rock Band guitars. You won't be using a rubber band to keep tension (like both of my other guitars).

The strum bar clicks, but since the fret buttons are quiet, you aren't making any more noise strumming than you are fretting on a Rock Band guitar. I do notice I miss occasional notes when quick upstrumming long fast sequences that I didn't miss on the old guitar. This surely has to do with the strum not registering until completely deflected. It should get better as I get used to it.

You can tip or touch the silver bar to overdrive. I have accidentally triggered overdrive several times by inadvertantly touching the bar. I assume I'll get better at it the more I use it.

I never use the solo frets on the old guitar except for the big rock endings. I used to run my fingernails back and forth quickly across all the solo frets to rack up as much as I could. These solo frets, not so much. The hinging makes center pressure on the key ineffective.

The fret keys are the same hinged design as the solo keys. Since I normally finger those, it's not bad like trying to slide back and forth across the solo frets. They will take a little getting used to. It's easier to hammer-on than the old style buttons, but it's harder for me to slide between green and red (index finger position). This probably has to do with the center pressure thing. Once I get used to fingering the edge of the frets as opposed to as far as I can wrap my fingers around the neck, it should get better.

I only rated it 4 stars because I am scoring lower than I used to with the old guitar. In a few weeks, when I've gotten more accustomed to the differences. I will probably feel it's worth the extra star.

I've been looking for a new guitar controller for awhile now, and thought this one would be perfect. Mad Catz has been making some great accessories for Rock Band lately, so I was very excited to hear about this Fender Replica. Boy...what a HUGE disappointment! First, maybe I'm just used to RB2 guitar's "silent" strum bar, but this one seems extremely hard to press up and down...causing a TON of missed notes. It is NOT silent like the RB2 version...it "clicks" on all notes. But it just doesn't seem responsive at all. Maybe that's the price you pay for getting 3 million "cycles," or whatever it is they claim...but it drove me nuts! Perhaps once you "break it in" it would be better, but $100 is a lot to spend on a controller you have to "break in."

The most glaring design flaw is the Bigsby® whammy tailpiece. This huge contraption extends almost all the way to the strum bar...which means you have rest your palm right on an uncomfortable piece of metal the whole time you're playing. It actually gets painful after awhile. Plus, the whammy bar itself is also extremely hard to push down...it's loaded with some "super spring" that once again just seems unresponsive while you're whammying notes.

The guitar itself looks great...but that's not really the purpose is it? Actually...let me clarify...it looks great WITHOUT the guady "Fender" guitar strap on. This is actually a real strap...but the annyoing white "Fender" printed every 3 inches is horrible. It looks like imitation zebra or something.

Overall, not worth the money in my opinion. The only reason I didn't give it one star is that some people may actually like the "clicking" strum bar, and some may not have issues with the whammy tailpiece, either. The fret buttons are actually excellent...but it doesn't really matter when you can't hit the notes with the strum bar...lol.

this game invented a real honest to goodness time and transmogrification machine! It somehow managed to jump my xbox 360 back 5 years to the PS2/Xbox days and give us a neat rail shooter from 2002!

Seriously? A rail shooter with PS2 graphics in 2012? And not even a good rail shooter at that. I can't honestly rate this game low enough, if I had actually spent more than 7$ on a rental I'd be seriously upset right now. Even the rental fee was too much to spend on this.

Pros:

-Easy pick up and play shooter

-Original weaponry

-It works in your console

-If you fall asleep playing it your won't care

Cons:

-Unless you bootlegged it you probably parted with money to play it. This is regrettable.

-Last Gen graphics and little to no AI

-Whoever wrote the script was trying to be funny but just came off as a douchie 14 year old.

This game is a rail shooter meaning you have little to no choice in where you'll go, the pace at which the game will move or your angle or style of attack. You'll fight through hordes of aliens, some familiar to the MIB movies and cartoon series. It has a mindless fun factor(funish) to it but that reaches it's limits fairly quickly like most smartphone games. I'm sure you'd agree the smartest smartphone game would still make a dumb excuse for console title. The entertainment threshold in MIB AC can be reached so quickly in fact that you'll turn off without thinking twice about reaching the next save point. The script is corny in a WB tween drama sort of way not the Serious Sam you can't help but to laugh at it way which would obviously be preferable. This game had the potential to be something good(not great) but the linear 1992 style rail gameplay completely rips the beating heart out of that chance and throws in into the tall grass where it will never be seen again...

It says it works on Mac OSX, it shows the mac version of the game, and yet when I opened my package I found the windows version inside. Now I'm waiting for a refund, lord only knows when I'll get it, and I'm stuck paying more for the game elsewhere. If you have a mac, be aware that this is NOT the place to buy this game from. They're far too incompetent to be able to get you the right one.

The authorization code is in the box, on the back of the GTA San Andreas manual. The game works fine and is a lot of fun. As far as I can tell, the only thing that doesn't work is auto-targeting, but I have been able to pass most of the game using manual targeting.

Best Deals for Grand Theft Auto Trilogy

I had the same problem with the activation key (as the other reviewer). There was an activation key on one of the manuals, but it didn't work. When I contacted 'product support' they asked me to send in a photo of the activation key, but their firewall wouldn't allow them to receive it (Ha!). But they said that was the ONLY way they could help. Finally I just posted the photo to Flickr and they could see it, but they were still paralyzed. They would tell me they were calling back within an hour, but they never did. It's been three days and still no satisfaction. I checked around on other retail sites and found others having the same problem. I'd say don't waste your time with this purchase. GTA is an awesome game, but there are serious issues with running it on your Mac.

Honest reviews on Grand Theft Auto Trilogy

while inserting disk for first time you must download 8gb (i think its wine) and afterward you must insert the cd in order to play. graphics aren't great. gameplay is difficult due to controls (thats just line any computer game though). its 1 disk with all 3 games; this might not be ideal for traveling as cds have nearly gone out of existence and cd drives too especially in macs. if you are willing to carry a cd its worth it specially bc of price. it comes with manuals and also maps which is awesome.

I purchased this trilogy for $7.99 but would also have paid more.

It's a great bundle of the my favorite GTA games (3, Vice City and San Andreas)!

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro and all three games work perfectly fine!

It comes in a sealed trilogy DVD-box with all the manuals and poster-sized street maps they used to sell with the original CD boxes.

The code is on the backside of the San Andreas manual and registers all three games one at a time.

Great deal and works perfectly on my mac!!

Item exactly as described, and then some. Was very pleased with the quality from the minute I opened the box.

The mod function does A LOT. it has ten modes and you can add on a bunch of different sub modes. The ten modes of rapid fire are more than enough because you can program them all. Plus with the extra sub modes this modded controller is capable of so much. in all id estimate there are thousands of combinations of mods and modes.

Jump shot , drop shot, quick scope, everything works great. I play gears too and the perfect active reload helps a ton. in all I saw a huge performance boost after using this controller.

The trigger stops are really good too. they definitely help and are easy to get used to. also the metal thumb sticks grip real nice. everything about it is awesome. bullet buttons I haven't gotten used to yet since the tops are flat but they are responsive. im thinking of putting on regular buttons.

The controller arrived on time and worked flawlessly out of the box. More surprising was the company aftercare, since they on their own initiative contacted me to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase and offered to address concerns in the event I had one. Actually first time, that someone contacted me to make sure I was happy with product. Would highly recommend this product and I can't wait for one to come out for Xbox One. I highly recommend.

I must admit up front I rarely if ever follow soccer. That being said, I have played this game far more then I have played either NCAA 10 or Madden 10. The graphics are great, and the environment of the game from the crowd sounds to the announcers make me feel like I have been watching English Premier League football my whole life. This game is very addictive, and once you get the hang of the player controls you will find yourself learning a lot about the flow of game. At first I was offside quite a bit. Now I find myself looking for that extra pass that might result in a higher percentage shot on goal. I find the AI to be pretty challenging (for me), and I have it set on the default setting. Against good teams I find my games are very close. Sometimes a team will come in against me and just kill me. I think as I play more I will learn a lot more about the who's who in powerhouse teams.

If you are a sports game fan, I think you will like this game. Its fun to play solo or against a computer opponent (face to face). Didn't try online yet.

I know that the FIFA games tend to get a little better every year, and I always think to myself," This year's installment is great, but..."

Not with FIFA 10.

I've only played the manager mode with the team I support the most, AS Roma, but simply from that experience, what a difference in the game play. I liked last year's addition of an actual referee pointing the flag in the direction of team possession, so of course, that made it back to FIFA 10. New additions to the FIFA game include; a full schedule for your team, including preseason friendlies with teams in your league, and with teams all over Europe; improved player likenesses, including the way indivual players move (Francesco Totti actually moves like Francesco Totti); weather changes to go with day and night games, including rain and snow; in the rain snow games, most of the players on your squad switch to longsleeves, which was a feature missing from the previous FIFAs; it's easier for defenders to tackle and win possession, which makes the game more difficult but lends to the realistic aspects a real match; and right and left backs can actually push up the sides of the field, which allows them to score and gives more team members besides just your strikers and attacking midfielders a chance on goal.

The only problem I have with the game is the price, and the fact that I'm a full time student without the time to play the game as much as I'd like. Fully recommended to any fans of the previous games. And just think to yourself once you play it...it only gets better from here.

Best Deals for FIFA Soccer 10 - Xbox 360

Fifa 2010 is a pretty solid soccer game. Allow me to break it down some:

Decent AI:

Playing on the harder difficulty levels, the AI still makes awful decisions from time-to-time. Defenders under no pressure make awful panicky clearances, forwards make runs while keeping a defender close and between them and the ball, et cetera. That said, overall the AI has improved greatly from earlier versions, and it makes the game that much more fun.

Improved physics & 360 controls:

The high points of this game are the physics and 360 controls. As opposed to previous versions, you have very precise directional control of everything. This is also somewhat frustrating, because it greatly increases the sensitivity of everything you do. The ball movements, player movements, and player clashes seem more real than ever before. It feels much closer to real soccer than any other game I've played before.

Manager mode:

They made a big deal out of how improved manager mode is. Frankly, I see little difference, except simulating games takes longer, I'm guessing due to the increasing number of variables taken into account. But I still see outlandish results, but like Fifa 2008, it seems fairly reasonable a majority of the time. Of course there's some things like salary caps going on here, but nothing makes a big difference in my opinion. I still enjoy manager mode, it's just not a very big change from before. The one thing here that I still find frustrating, is even if you start with a 5-star team, it's incredibly hard to transfer star players. They simply don't want to play for you until you have many stars. But by the time you can get these manager stars, some of the star older players (e.g., Ronaldinho) have retired.

I do find some frustration with the auto-coach mode in manager mode. The idea is that auto-coach will rotate your squad based on fatigue and injuries. This is great, but it makes a lot of changes. This is annoying because I generally have 1 set of players I consider my top starers. I would like to be able to save this lineup, and quickly reset my team to that lineup for big matches. Instead, I have to redo the entire squad manually. I would turn off auto-coach, but fatigue seems to be a very big factor now, so that would be even more frustrating. Also, sometimes the auto-coach does questionable things like put a midfielder into the goalkeepers position, when the goalkeeper is fully energized and not injured.

Be A Pro:

I created my own pro player, and have been working to increase his attributes. This is a painful and annoying process--by far the most frustrating thing for me in Fifa 2010. First of all, you need to play on the harder difficulty levels to unlock accomplishments. This is fine, but it should explicitly warn you about this, especially if you're playing a game on amateur and you navigate to the accomplishments menu. In addition, I feel like the logic to determine when you are achieving these accomplishments is dreadful. For example, consider these two accomplishments:

1. Find your team mates with 2 different crosses in a match

2. Set up 2 goals with crosses in a match

I just played a match, and unlocked accomplishment 2, but not accomplishment 1. Uh what? Other accomplishments are equally frustrating, especially the "beat x players with skill moves." It seems you must be painfully close to the defending player when pulling off these moves, before it will credit you with beating him with a skill move. This is annoying because you can clearly throw off defenders with skill moves from further away and even the announcers comment on how you just rocked that particular defender, but you get no progress for it in the accomplishments.

Seriously, I could go on and on about the accomplishments not being picked up, it's a very buggy detection system. Or if it's behaving as intended, it needs to be more clear to the player about why they aren't picking up the accomplishments.

Overall Fifa 2010 is a solid game, but I still expect more from such a high-budget production.

Honest reviews on FIFA Soccer 10 - Xbox 360

I just got the game a few days ago but things I noticed so far. The game is really fluid and a little faster than 09. Quick free kicks when you get fouled mid field the player will simply pick up the ball place it down and GAME ON GARTH. Getting carded is no longer a cut shot but simply the ref runs up to the player and books him (the camera angle stays the same).

Dribbling is much better you can now absorb contact and push the ball.

Again game speed is much faster so you don't have to use turbo all the time and burn out your players come 2nd half. Shooting from distance now works in 09 and previous years the only to score was on a breakaway or 10 feet from the goalie (Gerrard Lampard we doing work this year)

Let me stop rambling. Fifa 10 is a great game alot of people would say PES. I was one of those guys but Fifa 09 really put the ball in their court and 10 just improves off last years game.

Madden junkies that want to play a sports game where it doesn't take an hour to play a game pick up Fifa you can probably get about 4-5 matches out in the same time it takes to play a madden game online.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for FIFA Soccer 10 - Xbox 360

I bought FIFA 10 a couple of weeks ago, mostly to occupy my time at the end of an increasingly boring summer. I hadn't purchased an entry in the FIFA series since 07, so I was unsure about how different the gameplay would be and feel. Extremely different is probably the best description, but almost completely in a good way. The motions of the players are fluid, the graphics are extremely realistic, and the commentating, though not always spot on, is consistent enough to be amusing. The sheer number of teams one can play as is also astounding to me, with leagues from Europe, Japan, Korea, the US, Mexico, and Brazil all making an appearance.

The game does have a few flaws, mostly with the AI. For example, when the ball is not under anyone's control, the player you are controlling usually goes for it even though there may be a teammate controlled by the computer who is yards closer. The chip shot is also too easy to score with on a breakaway, but I hear this problem has been fixed in the World Cup version. The goalie sometimes has trouble judging when to come off his line, which can be frustrating in a close game with a friend.

Overall, however, this FIFA is a very fun game to play, especially online or with friends. I highly recommend it.

Review of Universal PS2 to PS3 Controller Adaptor

Universal PS2 to PS3 Controller Adaptor
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars
Buy Now
I bought this adapter because I own a pretty big collection of PS2 games, and I already put away my PS2 for extra space. What am I going to use it for? Very niche titles that few of you will care.

First, obvious compatibility that most will care about is the Guitar Hero guitars for GH3 and RB. They work. Not 100%, but work. However don't expect it to work again on future GH titles since Activion is a money hungry-portholic-jackass and probably will change their game codes so this adapter won't work. Who knows?

Second, dual shock 2 also works well for PS2 and PS3 games. No tilting for sixaxis-supported PS3 titles, obviously.

Ok so the first and second part of my review are obvious ones that everyone else already talked about. My main test subjects for this review are

Taiko Drummaster, Beatmania, Pump it up, DDR, Tekken arcade stick, Street Fighter 15th anniversary controller by Nubytech, and Saturn PS2 controller.

Taiko Drummaster-Game only recognizes the drum as the dualshock2 controller. What this means is that you can't use the drum to navigate the menu, but WILL work once the song starts. All I could do was to use the controller, pick a song, pause, and then switch back to drum in order to play the game.

Beatmania-Game has an option to choose either controller or turntable controller. I pick turntable, and the controller works perfectly fine.

Pump it up-It works well

DDR-DOES NOT WORK. If it works, there might be lags. Sorry for the confusion.

Tekken arcade stick-It works, but I read somewhere that there are few millisecond lags for joystick inputs. Doesn't affect average Tekken/VF player like me, but experts might.

SF 15th anniversary edition controller pad by Nubytech-Tested with SF Anniversary Collection, and it works fine.

Saturn PS2 controller-My main reason for buying the converter was to use this controller for my fighting games like KoF and SF on my PS3. It was bit of a gamble since this controller is an import, but to my surprise it WORKS!!!

In conclusion, this converter does a pretty good job of letting you use most of the PS2 controllers for PS2/PS3 games on PS3.

This converter worked fine until I've updated my system to 2.7. Now it's nothing more than paper weight. Good thing I didn't update my system while this thing was plugged in! I hear a lot of people bricked their PS3's and had to FORMAT all their saved games...

Best Deals for Universal PS2 to PS3 Controller Adaptor

As another poster has mentioned, a newer PS2 controller revision H does not appear to work at all. I found an older controller, and that worked, except that R2 didn't work for a driving game, so that is limiting. I also have a Logitech wireless controller, and that seemed to work perfectly! This was all with system version 2.60.

Note that I'm not using it for one of it's biggest features, using the PS2 guitar controllers.

I upgraded the PS3 system software to version 2.70, and now the TAC adapter locks up my PS3 when I plug it in, as a previous reviewer mentioned. (Also, as that previous poster mentioned, do not have this adapter plugged in while updating the system software!) So, it looks like it won't work at all, now. Until updating the system software, it looked like it was going to be good enough, as I'd just use it with the Logitech controller, but this seems like a real problem.

Honest reviews on Universal PS2 to PS3 Controller Adaptor

Works perfectly (so far). Star power even works like it is supposed to.

Some of the other reviews said that you had to use the select button, but

this is not true--at least with MY guitar (Gibson). My wife said that she

thinks there may be a small lag, but I cant say that I have noticed it.

If you bought a 80gb PS3 like I did--and have been tearing your hair out

because the console will PLAY your old Guitar Hero games but your guitar

doesnt work--then this is your salvation :)

TAC deserves some kind of award for creating something that Sony should

have built INTO the 80gb PS3 if they were going to claim

'backward compatability' for the Guitar Hero Series; Who wants to play

GUITAR HERO with a controller?

*NOTE: You may need to reassign controller IDs so that you have an empty

slot for 1A (thats where your guitar needs to be located). You will also

need to keep a normal controller handy, as you will need it to exit the

games (PS2 guitars dont have the nifty little PS3 button).

Rock On!

I'm guessing that most people are interested in this item for the same reason I was: to play PS3 Rock Band with a PS2 Guitar Hero controller. To cut to the chase, I plugged it in and it worked perfectly.

As a side note, I've been letting my 2-year-old play with the PS2 GH guitar for a while now, and it still works. Good luck trying that with the Rock Band guitar. :)

I also used it to play Guitar Hero 1 for the PS2 on my PS3 (note that it's a 60GB PS3, which is hardware-compatible with PS2 games). It worked, but it initially recognized the guitar as controller #2, even though I turned on the console by inserting the game disc and didn't activate my PS3 controller. It was seeing the BD/DVD remote as controller #1. I pressed the PS3 button on the remote and changed it to controller #2, and presto, the guitar became controller #1 and worked fine.

There are only two minor issues that kept me from awarding this five stars:

1. The controller number LEDs don't work. (The connection LED does.) I don't care enough to mail it back for a replacement.

2. The included documentation is feeble. I had to check the online FAQ to figure out why GH1 wasn't working at first. The information in the package should have been more clear.

So, to sum up, the doc is poor and the build quality may be questionable, but the product does what it's supposed to and does it very well.

These bullet buttons are great and easy to install. I onl have 2 complaints though, 1) they are really close but do not fit perfectly in the button holes, there is some wobble to them

2) (this is very slight) but the 9mm markings on the shell casings end cap point in all directions instead of down so you can read them.

Overall this is a great product and the only thing that would make them better would be a mossy oak controller shell to go along with them.

They look amazing in the gun. But the buttons are perfect fit and they sort of slide around a little or rattle. Removed immediatly. But will keep for future

I purchased the Limited Edition version of Halo 3 that comes with a bonus disc of video, metal case with slip cover and small hard cover book with additional information on the game and its elements.

I would like to clarify that I did not have the original Xbox or get into Halo: Combat Evolved or Halo 2. I purchased an Xbox 360 as I believe to be the best choice for me for a gaming console, and I jumped right into the excitement over Halo 3. I rented Halos 1 and 2 to see if I would like them. I enjoyed both games, despite not finishing them completely prior to Halo 3's release. I even purchased both of those games. I completed about 75% of the first game and about 20% of the second. I just couldn't wait to solve both of them before playing the "next-gen" version. That being said, I am not as familiar with the Halo story or universe. I don't think this made too much of a difference in getting into Halo 3. I think one could get Halo 3 having never played the other games...granted you would wonder a little about the back story, but the game play would suck you in and forget about that until you finished the game. Now I am going back to play the first two games to completion. I know it's a little late, but now I am into the Halo thing...

I have played the game completely through on Normal. I did not think it was too short. I thought that I had solved the game twice, when in fact there were more levels and more story. I felt satisfied with the campaign aspect of the game (even compared to BioShock, Lost Planet, Prey and Gears of War). Now, I am going back through the game to collect the skulls for extra features and achievement points. The campaign was a little challenge for me on the normal difficulty...it wasn't too easy and not too hard. I was stuck in about 3 places that took a day to move on through by myself versus co-op play. Now if I try to play on Heroic or Legendary difficulty, I will have to call in a friend for support via co-op such as I did with Gears of War on Insane.

Graphically, this game is impressive. While the screen layout and the weapons are similar to the previous versions and seem very familiar, they are better graphically. The designers didn't completely overhaul the Halo gaming experience...just gave it a renovation similar to what one might see on a TV show about flipping a house...excuse the analogy, but I think it is a good way to describe the difference. The Halo universe is prettier and even more colorful with sharper lines and details. This game has wonderful scenery like the jungles in the beginning to the futuristic interior of bases and spaceships, or later in the game from the desert with sand dunes to snow covered mountains.

The online play is where this game really shines. The online matchmaking system is wonderful. You aren't thrown into a game with a group of die hard Halo fans where you get completely slaughtered...you are matched by your abilities in the game with players of similar attributes for a fun and even handed match. There are a number of game modes where you can play death match type free for alls or team based games such as capturing the enemy's territory. With the Forge aspect of the game the online play is editable and customizable to give this game a great deal of replay value for the online players out there.

I gave this Limited Edition 5 stars for fun, and I do believe it lives up to the hype. This is a solid game that one can play over and over and enjoy it as much if not more as time goes on. However, I gave it 4 stars for the game overall as the extra stuff that comes with this version is not high quality or quantity. The bonus disc really only features one making of documentary if you play all of the segments as one movie. It is fun to see all the time and effort that went into making this game, but after watching it I thought that's it? There should be some added features like maybe including some features from making the older two games, or some more footage as to where they are thinking they will go in the future with other games or characters. I was also hoping for some exclusive content like gamer pics, themes, etc. The metal case is very nice, but as with many others who have reported...my second bonus disc was scratched! The disc comes loose inside the case very easily. The plastic center holder does not fit snug enough on the disc to anchor it in a way that eliminates damage during shipment. Be careful when buying it...gently shake the box before checking out to see if there are loose discs. Make sure you grab one that does not sound like a box of Legos! I didn't have an option as I preordered mine. The disc was loose and it was scratched, but it played just fine.

Buy with confidence...this is a good solid first person shooter game that lives up to the hype of the "next-gen" console war. I would add that if you don't always watch the extra making of features or documentaries, you may want to just buy the regular version with the game disc only. If you are a huge Halo fan, then you probably already have the Legendary Edition with the helmet...or if you are still debating on which one to buy get the one with the helmet and all the goodies...they are in a better box that anchors the discs better...plus Master Chief's helmet sitting in your game room just looks impressive!

Since the days of Halo 1 & 2 on the original Xbox, I have found the Halo series slightly over hyped and somewhat boring. Especially when compared to other online FPS's such as Counter-Strike / Quake / Unreal. So you can rest assured, this review was not written by a Halo "fanboy" or fanatic.

Now in 2007, Halo 3 is finally upon us and all I can say is I now do "believe" this is the best in the Halo series and will live up to its hype.

Pros:

I think the absolute number one feature for Halo 3 is the online play A SOLID 10/10. It is incredibly stable, easy to use and it just plain works! Within 10 minutes of inserting the game disc, my buddy and I were squaring off in battle over XBOX live along with nearly half a million other players! Voice over IP is loud and clear with an occasional echo, no lagging or stalling even on release day! The interface is absolutely beautiful. I'm sure things will be even further improved over time by online patches and updates.

The graphics are a 9/10. I have seen better effects & textures (BioShock, BF 2142, etc.) but all in all, I am very pleased. (Note: I am running an Xbox 360 elite w/ HDMI on a LG 32" 1080i display)

I give the sounds effects and music a 8/10, nothing really mindblowing.

Fun factor is a perfect 10/10! It really is addicting.

Single player story mode works great too. Although it is not the true "focus" of the game, single player mode will provide great entertainment when you're seeking a change of pace. It's somewhat short, but has excellent replay value. And YES you can play to story mode online with friends!

Cons:

I honestly haven't yet found many flaws in the GAME itself. If I were to be picky, I would say the graphics and sound effects "could" be improved further. Also, due to numerous reports of scratched discs in the Limited Editions, Microsoft was careless in its packaging method. I would say 95% of all the LE versions have loose discs and are scratched. (my copy was perfect though because I purchased it locally at Be$t buy and gently shook all the cases to listen for loose discs.)

Halo 3 is a true winner for noobies and veterans of the Halo series period. I think this game will offer endless entertainment for quite some time and the Limited Edition is $70 well spent. You get quite a few extra goodies with the LE, such as a metal case, mini-hard cover book, and lots of extras on the bonus disc. For a mere $10 additional dollars, it is well worth it.

Just remember, you may want to purchase the Limited Edition in a retail store so you can listen for loose discs. With some careful searching, you can find one that does Not contain scratched discs.

Goodluck everyone and game on!

5 stars!

After loving the original Halo, and being somewhat disappointed with Halo 2, I did not know what to expect with Halo 3. I still, being a fan of the series decided that this game would be on my must have list regardless. I wasn't "dying" for the game to come out and in fact I actually missed the release date and ended up picking it up the day afterwards. After playing the game for a while I must say that I am very impressed with the game overall.

First things first, if you get the Limited Edition, then know that you run a HIGH chance of having damaged game CD's due to the poor case design. Luckily in my case, the only CD that was damaged was the "Essentials CD", but still with me paying $70 for a game I would have liked to have both CD's in new condition. In any case Microsoft realized the issue and decided to replace all damaged Halo 3 CD's free of charge for the next few months.

With that out of the way let's get to the actual game.

When I first started playing the game, I thought it was going to be another disappointment like Halo 2 was, and ended up finding another great game, Bio Shock more fun to play. However after progressing further in the game, I am finding Halo 3 to be nearly as fun as the original. One reason of this is because of the new weapons, and vehicles. In addition you, Master Chief, no longer have to be driving a vehicle (with the exception of the scorpion). So if you want to man the turret on the warthog, while your computer controlled teammates drive, you can do it, same hold true for most every vehicle in the game. This makes things very interesting and fun. One of my favorite new vehicles in the game is the Hornet. My first air battle with this machine was an absolute blast. I enjoyed flying over beautiful scenery shooting down banshees while two of my squad mates sit outside on jump seats supporting me with fire of their own. I was having such a good time just admiring the scenery, I decided to fly the hornet high in the air and jump out mid flight into the sparkling ocean below. It was a looooong way down and needless to say I died, but boy it sure was fun.

Flying the Hornet allowed me to appreciate the incredible detail of the graphics on this game. In HD, the graphics are stunning. Whether it's walking through the jungles, flying through the air or scaling snow covered mountains, everything looks amazingly real. Aside from the detailed scenery, the characters themselves are also done very well. Characters move, attack and even die realistically. Its things like this that separate the average FPS's from the great ones.

I also am very pleased with the audio. This game boasts true surround sound and if you already haven't then I highly suggest getting an optical sound cable to experience the movie like experience from you're A/V receiver. Many gun sounds have that "punch" that I was missing in Halo 2. The grunts usually are the first ones to die, and for a little comic relief, many times you'll hear them saying things like "He killed my friend", or "How will I go on with him?" In addition to the exceptional in game sound, the soundtrack itself is very well done. Very often, after I finish playing for the night, I often leave the game on the main screen just so I can hear the music on the title screen.

The controls in Halo 3 are still quite intuitive with only a small complaint; in many other FPS games, the reload button is often the X button, but not in Halo 3. In Halo 3, the X button is the "Equipment" button. So whenever you pick up items like auto turrets, bubble shields or radar jammers, if you are not careful you may accidentally use them instead of doing what you really wanted to do. In Halo 3, LB and RB reload the weapon, and I suppose this was done to accommodate dual wielding, which is back in this game. In addition to the two standard grenades from the previous installments, Halo 3 has a couple of more grenades types; one is called the Spike Grenade, and the other...well I'll leave that up to you to find out; it wasn't in the manual so I was quite surprised when I picked one up during campaign mode. In addition to the equipment I already mentioned, there are lots of others.

As good as the single player is I must say that I am quite impressed with the multiplayer mode. If you know me I am not a big fan of playing online, but one night I decided to try my luck at Halo 3 on XBOX Live....and let's just say, I didn't get to bed until 5 in the morning. First off this game runs very smoothly online with no noticeable degradation in the graphics or performance and I haven't once encountered a laggy game. Best of all the game is very playable online, and not the chaotic mindless shoot fest that I experienced with Unreal Tournament. This was my first time playing online in a long time and I even ended up winning a Slayer match. One thing that makes this game playable online is that nearly every weapon either has a weakness or a counter thanks to the additional of the new equipment items. Sure the insanely good players will mop up the floor with people like me, but its still very fun playing just because it just seems fair. Games like Capture the Flag which proves to be nothing but a disaster in Unreal Tournament, is a true pleasure to play in Halo 3. And hey, if this game is good enough to allow ME to enjoy online games, then it must be pretty darn good.

In my opinion Halo 3 does not disappoint one bit. It was a slow starter, but now that I am finally somewhat deep into the game, I must say that I am enjoying this game VERY much. It's a blast to play both in campaign mode and in addition the online play will be sure to keep me playing this game long after I have beaten campaign mode multiple times. Other than the small issue with the controls, I can't find anything else really wrong with this game. On a 10 point scale, I'll give this a 9.7. While Bio Shock (another 5 star game IMO) is definitely more original and just as fun, Halo 3 is the best of the breed when it comes to your "typical" shooter, and the added fun one can have playing it online make it 5 stars in the fun category. This is a great game across the board.

Honest reviews on Halo 3 Limited Edition -Xbox 360

This game truly re-captured the spirit of the first game's campaign mode. If you were let down by Halo 2's campaign, fear not, HALO 3 makes up for it in spades! Playing campaign with 3 friends is also amazing. Also, if you're in it for the multi-player, you won't be disappointed. The new maps are great, and the weapons are well balanced and it seems like they might have a new solution for laggers with a "new host select" option when it starts to lag a bit. So far it's been great! Okay, off to collect more skulls and finish it in Legendary mode.

This game currently holds the record for sales in a week and sales in one day for any video game. People like to say this is a bad game that only sells well because of advertisement and hype. If that were true it would not explain why people continue to play it or why they continue to pick this up year after year. Are all these COD fans just miserably playing online not having fun? The series maybe boring and unimpressive to many but it appeals to a demographic and it appeals to it well.

It's simple: if you've liked the previous CoD games then you'll like this one. If you were expecting something ground-breaking and new then this game is not for you. This game is like Madden. All you're going to get is new weapons, maps, some tweaks, and some new features. Whether or not this justifies the price tag is a different story. I'm purely basing my review on entertainment.

As a long-time fan of the series I'll start off with the bad. The singleplayer is as useless as ever with a non-sense story that you simply will not care about. It is repetitive and linear with overwhelming spawning enemy AI shooting from all directions serving as the only challenge. The only variation is some vehicle levels reused from previous Call of Duty entries. There are no tools at your disposable to change things up. It's the same shoot, cover, grenades mechanic in place since the first Call of Duty on PC. At least back then the firefights felt intense and you were part of an actual historical event. While Call of Duty 4's campaign was entertaining the following MW2 and MW3 don't add anything, the surprises and thrills are gone. SPOILER: when Jackson died in COD4 it was dramatic and unexpected. When this same trick is used in MW2 (twice) and MW3 it's just not as interesting.

**My major gripe is that there's no consistency of characters. Characters are constantly being introduced and killed off in every entry. Soap, Price, and Nikolai are about the only consistent thing about this series in terms of story. Even then they are just empty NPCs providing orders and guidance to the player. There's never any interaction or personality shown to make you care.

I'll move on to the reason why most people buy this game or any CoD game for that matter: the multiplayer. As usual thing are played out on medium-sized maps between 6-player teams. The most popular game modes are TDM and Domination. Multiplayer is fast, intense, and catered towards those with short attention spans like myself. You won't have to traverse much ground in order to find something to shoot at. Some prefer more variation, obviously Battlefield 3 being the main example. There's nothing wrong with that game but I prefer the down and dirty street fight. If you do too, you'll feel right at home.

The new "strike packages" are welcome giving players different options in terms of playing style and tactics. For instance, the support strike package does not rely on consecutive kills. It continually stacks and does not reset after dying. This allows players to be more aggressive while still supporting team members. Likewise the specialist strike package allows players to add perks to their original 3. After getting 8 kills they player will have all perks becoming a super soldier. Now they won't be able to call in any killstreaks but the advantage of additional perks is a great advantage in a gun vs. gun situation.

Maps were advertised as being more balanced. This is a matter of opinion but I'll have to agree. For the most part the maps have been designed to weaken camp areas. Most sniping/camp spots will have too many alternate routes to enter and flank. Other spots will just be awkwardly placed not giving the player enough view over heavy traffic areas. There are plenty of camping players but what do you expect in an FPS game.

Perks have been reorganized in a way that forces players to make some hard choices on how they set up their classes. Of course the specialist strike package remedies that but in general I've seen people go with the normal killstreaks. For instance, in previous games the player would use a perk to be invisible to radar. This perk would also double as protection against air support. They have now been separated into two different categories. The same goes for the popular 'sleight of hand' perk that allowed faster reloads as well as faster aiming. Now as two separate perks players will need to rely more on careful playing and good old reflexes.

Not such a big deal since it's identical to MW2 but the weapons are great. In Black Ops each category (assault, light machine gun, sub machine guns) had only a couple of weapons worth using. These weapons were so good there was no point in using anything else. MW3 has the reverse effect where everything works great, almost too great, where gun selection sometimes feels like it doesn't make a difference. It comes down to preference.

The downsides of multiplayer is the lack of dedicated servers which I've complained about since CoD switched over from PC. This causes you to rely on the host system. I'm not sure why but every now and then I'll be 'slower' than everyone else usually getting shot after getting behind cover or just a second before I actually spot an enemy. Sometimes I can tell this is working in my favor and I'll have an amazing time but I'd much rather everyone just be on the same level in terms of online latency.

This system prevents users from joining games. It'll just randomly throw you into any game that has a slot for you or your party. This results in throwing players into a lot of losing games. Why? With a lot of people getting frustrated and leaving a losing round it creates gaps on the losing team. Innocent players looking to join a game are suddenly thrown into a round with a 30 score gap that's about to end. The game counts this as a loss! You literally can join a game, do nothing, and still lose.

Another issue is the auto-balancing system. I don't play in a party so when I do well the next round assures that I get stuck with all of the less skilled players to make sure I lose so things stay 'fair.' I'm not using anything that puts me at an advantage over anyone else so I'm bothered that the game feels I need to be punished for playing well. To put things in perspective I have a 2.00 KDR for TDM but only a 1.20 win record. In theory that is about right since the autobalancing is doing it's job. 50 percent of the time you should be put on a good team and the other 50 the losing team. So maybe this is a good thing for some?

I've ranted on long enough but I will repeat what I said before. People do not like this game and never will. The people that do (there are obviously many) wilkl play it and enjoy it as always. The graphics are aging, the game is very similar to MW2, and if you had problems with the series before most of those problems are still there.

The game is FUN. That's all there is to it. If it's not for you that's fine. To be fair I think this is the last COD game for me. It's a solid final entry to the series but if they make another one and it's still the same I'm probably satisfied with this one.

I look at the progression of this series like this:

COD4 Introduced classes, perks, modern setting, and more arcade-like gameplay

MW2 Introduced "super power" type perks, pushed the game over the top in terms of arcade style, introduced killstreaks which would become a staple of the series, finalized the game to a console audience in terms of style, maps, and controls/weapons

Black Ops balanced the game, took a step back in terms of style, map design, weapons, and was actually a little too watered down from what MW2 was.

MW3 Balances between COD4 and MW2 very well, really no where for the series to go from here

Let me just start by saying this is only a review of the online play after a few hours logged in. I will come back and update more as I log more hours online.

Up front, was very disappointed in the presentation of the game. Graphics I thought came up very short. I actually think they took a step back in the before/between game presentation. Everything is very cold and nothing jumps out at you. I expected to be impressed before even getting into the game but I wasn't but then again it's not the gameplay so I can get passed that. The emblems and banners were different but looked cheesy compared to Black Ops. The maps were pretty cool but once again the graphics didn't impress. The cars looked cartoonish to me. But this may not be important to you as is it to me.

What is up with the voices of the players in multiplayer? Everyone sounds very tinny and I know it's not my headset because I have not experienced this in Black Ops or Battlefield. It's almost like they sacrificed voice quality for improved bandwidth for gameplay. I asked others I was playing with if they were experiencing the same thing and they said they were.

The online gameplay was laggy. I am going to give this a pass and attribute it to the first day of online play and likely a high traffic experience. It was really tough to play. For example, while playing Headquarters, I shot someone 5 times with a shotgun at close range only to have them kill me. Watching the replay from their vantage point right after, It showed me only getting off 2 shots cleanly while dying as a third shot was being fired. A 2 shot lag was a bit much. And don't say it's my connection as I have a high dedicated bandwidth connection. I will give this a pass for now since it was day 1.

One thing I did like a lot about Black Ops was that you could buy attachments and equipment early on which sort of evened the playing field a bit as opposed to having to rank up and earn the right to these things. Well it's back to the latter again.

Some of the new killstreaks are pretty cool. I especially like the attack drone (I think that's what it's called) which could be great for Headquarters games. But why do we have to unlock these for each different class we setup?? UGH!

Game invites took a step back as well. Remember in Black Ops how you could go to your friends list and just hit "select" to invite them? Well, no more! Not sure why they didn't adapt this into this release.

I used to be an Infinity Ward fan and always thought they put out a better product than Treyarch. I think the tables have turned. I am not alone on this either. Everyone I played with last night that was mic'd up agreed with me that Black Ops is a better online experience except for one person that liked this game better.

Who knows. I might feel differently the more I play it but as of right now, I may spend more time playing Battlefield 3 and Black Ops than MW3.

**Update**

I've given it another week and I have not changed my opinion of the game. I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this issue but this game lags terribly. I did not have, and still do not have these issues on any other FPS game including all of the previous CoD releases or the Battlefield games. On almost every match, I am seeing the game freeze for a split second then jump forward. It doesn't happen in the beginning of games, only when the action picks up so I am left to believe that the game is coded in such a way that it's being overloaded with data at the host. I also believe this to be the case because in one game I was in, my game aborted and I got an "out of memory" error on my screen. What is that?? Never seen that happen before on any other game. I've seen less of this on the smaller tactical games where the number of players are kept to 6-8.

I still have not got into the campaign but think I will spend most of my time there since I cannot tolerate the multiplayer any longer. I did however play the Survivor mode and really liked that a lot. It actually might be the best part of this game.

I still stand by my rating.

**Update**

Ok so I played the game off and on for about a month and I got to be honest, my feelings have not changed. The lag issue is not as bad as it was the first week the game was out but there is still noticeable lag. Let's face it....when playing online there has to be some aspect of lag and I completely accept that but I don't know why it's so much worse in this game than it was in other CoD releases. For me, it seems for the most part, the online games start ok with the lag not being that bad in the opening seconds, but as each match progresses it starts to become more noticeable. I am not sure if this is a memory issue or not but it seems the more action that is taking place, the more I notice the lag issue. I have not been back online in a few weeks, which is a CoD record for me. I've actually been online enjoying the BF3 multiplayer much more but that's not for this review.

Because of my frustrations with the online multiplayer performance, I turned to the single player campaign. I had no issues with the performance of the game in this mode, nor did I expect to. The single player campaign was actually pretty easy even on Veteran difficulty. Now I am just going back and completing the trophies to close it out.

Overall....the feeling is still the same and my rating will stick. I don't think it's a bad game but I expected more, performance wise and also in terms of creativity. I don't think this game delivers but it's just my opinion. ;)

Best Deals for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Playstation 3

Pros:

-Good campaign, but if you haven't played MW2&MW1 you'll be entirely lost

-Nice new multiplayer additions, such as bettys and scramblers

-Amazing new killstreaks like Strife Run and Overwatch

Cons:

-Not much originality. The multiplayer feels like a map pack for MW2

-The online maps all feel dull and similar. Hopefully the map-packs will bring some originality but we'll have to wait and see.

-Unsatisfying conclusion. Three games for... I'm not gonna spoil it.

Conclusion:

If you're a COD fan like me, this game seems old. The gameplay is fun, but if you're looking for something original try Battlefield 3. If you're new to COD, try Black Ops instead so you can understand the storyline. The Black Ops maps are also much more memorable.

Honest reviews on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Playstation 3

I have owned all the call of duty titles, and I feel that this one fell way short. The single player is entertaining as usual, but the multiplayer, which is why most people get the game is a step in the wrong direction. The multiplayer maps are very unimaginative, just a bunch of buildings with little creativity compared to other COD titles. Weapons are basically the same but with more options. The gameplay is the worst yet. I have a 35MBPs connection with a 35ms ping to the closest major city yet each game I play is laggy as heck and many games I get booted due to server connectivity. You would think that they would have servers all over to accomidate all the users across the US! I still think due to poor online gameplay and lack of map creativity this is near the bottom of COD titles.

Ok so Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is finally out and I finally got a chance to play it and here are my thoughts of the game.

Campaign

The Campaign picks up from where MW2 left off. If you plan on playing it on Veteran i will admit that its not stupidly annoying like MW2 which was a huge ragefest!!!!!! The campaign is solid and is worthy enough to be that of a sequel.

SPEC-OPs Survival

I've played the Zombie mode in W@W and Black Ops and i wasn't sold on it. Survival adds that element of fun for the ppl who did not like Zombie. After the 1st wave you'll unlock the Armory support, 2nd Wave Explosive and Armor Support, last but not least 3rd Wave Air support. I managed to get to Wave 31 all by myself until i blew myself up tryna cook a gernade when i saw a Juggernaut coming out of nowhere lol. Unlike Zombie how you can have 4 players, Survival only allows up to 2players which sum ppl might not be to happy about. If you haven't played this mode yet i will say it's definitely worth playing you'll be hooked for hours playing it.

SPEC-OPs Mission

Like MW2 Spec Ops after you get all 48 stars its not worth playing anymore. Hopefully this time around they'll come out with more mission when they come out with DLC.

Multiplayer

MW2 all over again.

Conclusion

Besides the Campaign and Survival the game failed to impress me. IW/Sledgehammer(mostly IW) attempted to make MW3 have that COD4 gameplay style but fell short horribly. The multiplayer maps are god awful and it still has that MW2 gameplay style. This game would of been better off as a $30 DLC to MW2 rather then a brand new $60 game. Rent it or wait for a lower price!

I've been playing baseball games on computers and consoles for a long time. I date myself here by saying that I started with Microleague Baseball on the Atari 800XL. I still regard that as my favorite experience in the baseball genre. I recently purchased an X-Box and when I buy a new console I always buy my gaming staples. A baseball game is always one of my first priorities. There are a lot of choices out there. I picked HIGH HEAT 2004 based on what I'd read in magazines and on-line.

The game is good but flawed. It isn't the prettiest baseball game out there (particularly on the X-Box), but boasts some very strong features. If you're like me, one of your favorite things about a baseball game is the simulation aspect. The best thing this game offers is the pitcher/batter interface. It really makes you work the count to have success as a batter, or to retire your opposition.

The stats are deep in the game, but the interface is sometimes difficult. For example, when looking at your team's pitching numbers, the batters are listed as well (even though they obviously have no pitching stats). Also, league leaders only lists about the top 5 in maybe 7 different categories. The game tracks what must be about 50 different statistical categories, why can't I look at who is leading the league in doubles, or walks, or innnings pitched, or you get the picture.

The minor league system with the game is interesting, but I'm not sure I'd want to replace current major leaguers with computer generated farm-hands with names like "Chappie Gardner". The player creator is somewhat lacking details as well. You only get to choose height and weight and whether the player is muscular or "average".

I still give the game a good score though. The game has done something I have rarely seen with a baseball game of this type, eliminated the possibility of throwing runners out at first on singles from right field. You can also hit legitimate doubles and triples, something very difficult to do on most console baseball games. I recommend it to baseball fans. I'm hoping to win a World Series with my Marlins.

High Heat Baseball is one of the most in depth baseball simulators ever created. The ammount of statistics is overwhelming. The minor leqague farm system is well incorperated in this game as well. However the actual player and team names are not used. It is a great representation of the actual game. If your looking for an in depth, statistically superior game, with the ability to draft, sign, and trade your entire team, as well as your minor leage teams, through a plethora of multipul seasons, than this game is for you.

However... the graphics leave A LOT to be desired. The player animations are generic. They don't varry from player to player. The only difference you can see is either their pitching style, if they have a unique style, or their batting stance and styles. For example Nomar Garciaparra fidgits with his gloves and taps his feet in the box. Really cool.

Along with the lacking graphics, the commentating, music, and ambiant noise is horrible. Very noticable pauses in between the announcement of teams while the commentary is "loading" is extremely annoying. "The.........Red Sox.......5.........The........Yankees........nothing........in the.......bottom of the 9th. That can get frustratring especially since there are awesome games like FIFA 2003 with superb commentary. The crowd is very unimpressed with any major event taking place in the game. Hit a HR and see NO dramatic replays or hear any excited crowd or commentary. 3DO needs to improve those things first before it can compete with MVP.

It is however a fun and addicting game to play. I got hooked. But I am still planning to buy MVP, maybe today! Stick with MVP in the long run, you'll be happier with all the extra graphical and audio features it has to offer

A few run throughs with this game and I thought it was good.

After playing numerous games though, I have to disagree with my initial response.

After playing MVP with my friends, I have to agree that the graphics in High Heat are terribly generic. But, I can get by on lousy graphics if the gameplay was good.

These are my frustrations on..

Pitching:

you can somewhat control where the ball goes, but really all you do is angle a pitch and select ball or strike. Then it's up to the AI to either opt for good control or not.

Fielding:

it takes too long for a fielder to field the ball then crank up the throw. This makes it almost impossible to turn a double-play.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to field a ball with the first baseman and have enough time to get back to the base to tag out the runner. To complicate things, the pitchers and second basemen take forever to get to the base so by the time they get there, the other team has a cheap infield single.

when the ball gets to the outfield sometimes the camera gets stuck where the ball is and you don't know where your player is so you might be taking the wrong angle to field the ball.

BASERUNNING:

i think baserunning on any baseball sim is complicated enough, but on HIGH HEAT it's even worse. MVP has better base running. On MVP you can view the lead-offs.

Other stuff:

If you have more than one team picked as Human control, it's complicated switching through the teams one the schedule. You can't just pick the team you want to play with and play their scheduled game you have to adjust the team control. BIG WASTE OF TIME.

because it came out so early, some of the roster changes had not been adjusted yet (but that goes for a lot of baseball games)

The trading function is complicated too. Trading is easy but having to reset which team you're trading with is a nuisance. There's also numerous lists you have to run down (and i'm not talking about the different leagues) to trade. It's just monotonous and not fun.

I AGREE about the terrible AI on the commentary.

THERE ARE A LOT OF BUGS. I've struck out numerous times only having one strike prior.

OVERALL, it's just a boring game. I haven't played the other mini-games yet, but I'm not into them on any sports game.

I DO LIKE the batting in the game where you try to hit the location of the pitch with proper timing. I don't like the style of MVP where you target the area of the field you want to hit.

Cons: 1. No Improvements at all on the gameplay

2. About the worst graphics i've ever seen on the Xbox

3. Sound and announcers are humdrum and repetitive

4. Menu system is too complex to begin with

5. Market system needs tuning

6. Potential to be a great game gone to waste.

FINAL VERDICT: just a rental. Not worth the [$$$]fee to buy it. But baseball fanatics will find it interesting

I played all 3 of the major baseball games this year(HighHeat, InsidePitch, and ASB) I liked High Heat the best because of the graphics and gameplay. Also i think it is the most realistic baseball game out this year. Graphics are awesome and the gameplay was smooth. Pitching is great but i liked Inside Pitches the best. The thing i liked best about this game is that you can now select to throw balls or pitch out a hitter. In previous baseball games it did not give you an option to throw balls or strikes it just made you throw strikes or if you got the chance to throw a ball the batter never swung and he always knew. In previous baseball games you threw 40-50 pitches a game and usually after you threw the first pitch they would hit the next one. In previous baseball games i didnt like the ability to hit a homeruns in every inning and like BarryBonds hit a homerun at every at-bat and over one hundred in the season.I did hit a homerun in the first 10 minutes i played it(Albert Pujols) i thought it was going to be just another one of those previous games. But homeruns did not come easy. i hit 2 in 3 games . this was a good game buy it over any other game. But if you like hitting hundreds of homers but allstar baseball, the games are usually won by a large margin. I beat one team 23-2 on veteran level on the 5th day i played it. Inside pitch's pitching was awesome but lost everything in its gameplay and feilding. Catching the ball in the outfield was so easy, even if it was popped not so high between the ss and outfeildser. The ball usually hung for more than 15 seconds. Buy High Heat it easily beats out the competion if you like realistic baseball games.

This one is a lot of fun. I love Fifa 2008 and PES 2008, but this one has better graphics than Fifa 2008 and a slicker menu system. I think the difficulty settings are not as good as PES 2008 though and the crowd graphics in PES are much better than the EA games, with the drawback being the licensed clubs being limited in PES.

If you enjoyed either Fifa or PES you'll like this one, but of course it's just Euro Cup national teams and thus not worth full price by any means. I don't like the marketing gimmick of coming out with titles just for specific tournaments but at the full price, get this when it's at half price as that's more indicative of the value. If you want all the licensed leagues there's nothing better than Fifa, you can create tournaments there as well, but World Cup is not a set tournament nor is Euro Cup or Champions League, etc. out of the box. I recommend this one at half price due to it just being Euro Cup.

Let me preface this review by saying I've owned every FIFA or EA soccer game since 06. This is definitely the best of the lot. The passing and dribbling is smoother and I only wish I could put this gameplay engine into my FIFA 08 game. The players don't react as slowly as in FIFA and the defence is more tougher. The improved passing accuracy makes up for the defence being harder. You can penetrate the D by threading in lobbed through balls on the button. Only negative is playing as Holland will give you generic players since EA doesn't own the rights and Pro Ev does. But, oh well. Pick it up mos def if you are a FIFA fan or soccer video game fan in general.

Excellent product, only downfall is the controls could be a little more responsive at times (maybe thats just me though). Otherwise great fun !!

I am not a big "video soccer" player, but thought this might be fun as I typically do like the sports games. However, this one was a little too advanced for someone not that familiar with the controls. There does not appear to be any "training" mode to help a novice learn the controls and even playing on the easiest level using a top notch team I was unable to do anything to make the game fun and make me want to play it more. The computer constantly kept stealing the ball from my players and dominated play (again, I'm a new player so this isn't completely unexpected). In the end I lost 5-0 but I don't think I got any shots on goal ... at least no good shots on goal, and I think the computer felt sorry for me and kept the score closer than it really was. For players with experience and familiarity with soccer on XBOX360 this may be a great game, but I don't fall into that category. And the game didn't do much to make me want to keep trying as the learning curve is steep and I am far to casual of a video game player.

If you're like me, you might be one of the few people who don't use Xbox Live. Gasp! That's right, I'm a hardcore gamer, and I don't use Xbox Live. Not because I don't like it, it's just I've never much cared for online gaming, and prefer single player. So I wouldn't get much use out of the service. However, a bad side to this is I am missing out of some great downloadable games, but fortunately, Microsoft has thrown me and others like me a bone, and included three fantastic Live games on one disc at a great price. I just got this disc four days ago and have been having a blast with these games. I'll go over each one to give you an idea of how they play, and why this collection is worth the money.

Limbo: For me, the star of the show. Limbo is unlike anyhing else out there right now. This is a full blown sensory experience. From the graphics, to the sounds, and the gameplay, everything is top notch, extremely polished, totally absorbing, and an absolute joy to play. I can find nothing wrong with this game. So what is Limbo? Well, it's haters describe it as a simple 2-D style puzzle platformer with an interesting art style. And to tell you the truth, they're right. The platforming is great, but you won't need fast reflexes to get through it. The puzzles are challenging but never hair pulling hard. But the haters are missing the point. This game was never designed to test your gaming skills, it was created to absorb you in it's world. Everything was masterfully designed to keep you engaged. Sure the puzzles aren't too hard, but they are challenging enough to make you stop and think about what to do. Sure the platforming isn't hard, but you still have to be careful and time your jumps just right.

The graphics are simply spectacular. Everything is in black and white, no color anywhere. It's very striking, and creepy. Looking at screenshots is a good idea to see what the game looks like, but seeing it in motion is the way to go, trust me. There is a lot of animation, whether it is the boy you play as, other characters you run into, water, machinary, dirt and rocks crumbling down a hill, or the very big, very scary spider you encounter. The animations make this dead looking world come alive. The boy is a black silhouette, with bright white eyes. Sometimes you'll be in a completely dark area and only have his eyes to see where he is.

The sounds are just as good as the graphics. There isn't any actual music, just ambient music, most of the time you'll hear sounds in the environment. The sounds of flys buzzing around a dead animal carcass hanging from a tree, the loud crash of electrical sparks from a large hotel sign you have to cross, the sound of giant gears turning, everything sounds great, and dangerous.

As far as story goes, it is very minimal. It's one of those games, like Braid, where the interpretation is left up to the gamer. All you know is you are a boy who has awoke in a forest, and has to find his sister. After you beat the game, go on some forums and read people's theories on the story, there are some good ones.

The game is played 2-D style, and you run through the levels jumping, climbing, solving puzzles, and watching your little boy get demolished. Yes, the developers did not shy away from the violence in this game, even though you are playing as a young child. He will get beheaded, impaled, drowned, electrocuted, burned, crushed, amputated, and cut in half complete with intestines hanging out. The realistic physics of the game make the deaths even more gruesome. Seeing his head cut off, and roll down a hill while his lifless body collapses is disturbing, and that is one of the tamer deaths.

The game isn't very long, I beat it on my first playthrough in just under three hours. I think the length is perfect though, and the amazing thing is the puzzles never repeat throughout the game. Also, there is not loading in the game at all. From the very beginning, until the credits roll, you will not see a loading screen. The game is like one big level, with ever changing environments. You'll never know when you hit a checkpoint, except that when you die, you will not restart far. I can't recommend this game highly enough, it is an eerie, wonderful, disturbing, never frustrating, and an overall engaging experience.

Splosion Man: Splosion Man is a 2-D style platformer, with 3-D graphics. This game contains some masterful platforming throughout fifty levels, and if you are a fan of the genre, you will not be disappointed. The game can be tough, but it gives lots of checkpoints so when yo die, you will not have to start back far. Theres not too much to say about this game except it is aweseom, has some colorful cartoony graphics, and is very fun to play. Splosion Man himself is a humorous, and you can tell he is having a little too much fun. He's constantly making various sounds as he tries to escape the big science lab where he was created. His idle animatins are funny too. Instead of jumping, you splode. You can splode three times, and after that Splosion man will cool off and you have to reignite him by either staying on the floor for about a second, or sliding down a wall. You have to be careful when he is cooled down, because he can't jump, er I mean splode, and he can be killed in one hit. What's really funny is how he kills his enemies, who are mainly the scientist working at the lab. When you splode on them, they will explode into meat. I don't mean body parts, I'm talking about steaks, hams, and various other meats you find in the meat dept. at a grocery store. You can even blow off their heads, or arms, and they'll bleed meat. It is hilarious. As I said earlier, if you love 2-D style platformers, there is no reason you won't like this. It has some fantastic, challenging platforming that will leave you satisfied when you get through a tough section. Oh the boss fights are fun too, especially the last one. That one was just great.

Trials HD: The final game in this collection. Trials is a stunt, racing, platforming game where you use a dirt bike to get through the levels. You don't race other riders, but against the clock to get the best time you can get. You can take as long as you want in a level though, so don't worry about a time limit. The game is heavy on physics, and can be very hard for newcomers because if you don't hit a landing just right, or if your back tire catches the wrong part of the ground, or other object, and your front tire hasn't touched the ground yet, you will wreck. It starts off easy enough, but will eventually ramp up in difficulty. You have four difficulty categories. Easy, Medium, Hard, and Extreme. Each one has their own set of levels. And believe me, the hard and extreme sections are not lying. Where as I could get mostly gold, and some silver in Easy and Medium, in hard I mostly got bronze, and I could only pass the first level in Extreme. However, don't let my talk of difficulty scare you away. This game is great and very addicting. When you get a bronze in a tough level, then you do it again and get a silver, than do it again and get the gold, it is very satisfying. In fact, the game is actually very fair. It doesn't throw tons of crap at you to knock you down, it just presents you with the level and leave it up to you as to how you get through it. It is tempting to try to speed through the obstacles, but I have found slow and steady wins the day. In addition to the main levels, there is also a collection of fun mini games called skill games. These vary from one where you have to break as many bones in your body as you can, staying on top of a rolling metal bar, and launching yourself off of your bike and see how far you can go, among others.

The graphics are well done with some great lighting effects, and the sound is good too. The game plays music, but it's more in the background, most of the time you'll just hear the sound of your dirtbike, and your character who will make various sounds as he flies through the levels, and gets slammed around a lot.

Well there you have it folks. Hopefully I was able to give you enough descriptions of the three games to give you an idea of how they play. If you're looking for something a little different to play, pick this collection up. I feel I've gotten more than my money's worth, and have been having a lot of fun with them. I hope you do too, and thanks for reading my review.

Since i couldn't find a single directory for limbo, ill create my review under this heading. I have not played the other two games in this pack yet, so this one is just for the game limbo.

Let me start off by saying i have played quite a few downloadable XBL and PSN games, some are engagning, but yet still lack alot of substance to be a great game.

Limbo is a game some people will shortly be referring to as not just a great game but a true accomplishment. And it is. The story of this grim, gorgeous puzzle platformer is one of the most addicting, satisfying and yet oh so rewarding games ive ever had the experience to play. This game is simply a work of art. To be more precise, there is no color, absolutely none. The eery yet disturbing monochromatic style of black and white visuals, or shades of grey is what sets it apart from other games but it really fits a game like limbo. The design and starkly minimalist visual style create a short but indelible experience that deserves to appear before a lot of eyes.

In the simplest terms, Limbo is a side-scrolling action game featuring a little boy looking for his sister in the big dark forest. Beyond the menus, the game itself uses no words (written or spoken) to communicate any sort of story. It doesn't even have real music, just a sublimely rendered ambient soundscape. And it doesn't need any of that stuff. You wake up in the woods, and off you go into an increasingly weird, oppressive, sinister dream world. Your sole occupation is to run left to right and try to avoid all the myriad ways this awful wilderness is trying to kill you, and the game focuses all of its efforts on enabling that single objective.

You won't manage to avoid most of those dangers the first time, because so much of Limbo's action centers on brutally immediate, unforgiving environmental hazards. A blade might come swinging out of nowhere and slice you in half, or a gigantic spider could impale you on a wickedly sharp leg almost before you realize it's there. There's really never a moment when you're not in danger of meeting some grisly end or other, and most of those ends you will not see coming. Note however that the timing and triggers in each scenario are the same every time, so getting through the game requires a lot of trial and error, dying to some unforeseen menace two, three, four times before you work out exactly what you need to do and how fast you need to do it to keep yourself alive and continue on.

Though this game can be seen as short and for the price of $15 dollars some people may not consider it. But trust me on this. There is not a game out there that will give you this much satisfaction of just knowing how to master each element of this game. One of the trophies requires you to get through the entire game in one sitting with 5 or less deaths. I will bet your first play through you will probably die some where around 50 times. So getting this trophy require patience, perseverance and dedication. But its so satisfying, knowing that you 100% limbo, cause the game has a challenge that not only tests your reflexes, and puzzle solving skills but your physical state of mind as well. Make no mistake this game is a mind bender. I often took some time away to actually carefully take notes on each scenario in the game, so when i got to that certain part, i knew for a fact that i had the confidence to get through the game. This is not just an average run of the mill platformer, don't think it is. Try not to get to frustrated, each puzzle provides you with careful planning and precision to make it through this game and trying to figure out each puzzle on your own is what gives you that degree and sense of accomplishment.

The game steadily introduces new environmental mechanics like water, gravity, and magnetism through the end of the game, so you never feel like you're doing the exact same thing twice. Every puzzle is keyed to the unique environment it's taking place in, almost like an adventure game. It's evident one or more people put a ton of thought into every single thing you do in this game.

In case it's not clear already, Limbo is a really hard game, but not immpossible probably too hard for casual players that are used to just finishing games quit and fast. But the extreme difficulty is bearable because everything in the game behaves in a very measured, deliberate way, especially the boy himself. He runs, jumps, climbs, and moves objects at a steady and predictable rate that feels really natural when you control him. That makes it easy to gauge timing and distance for your jumps and other moves. And everything in the game obeys a fairly realistic physics model that gives the gameplay a weird sort of tactile feel. Also, there's a checkpoint about every five feet, so you can load up any chapter you want in the game and retry each puzzle as much as you see fit, Death is no burden here, just a means to further exploring each obstacle. Taken purely by volume this isn't a long game, but you'll feel like you've gotten plenty out of it by the time you've worked out every puzzle and survived every challenge.

The game is a joy to behold in every aspect.

Limbo has a quality that's hard to articulate. It so expertly realizes both its internal gameplay logic and its prevailing aesthetic that it almost creates a sort of reverie as you play, fully removing you from your physical environment and plopping you into this cold, mesmerizing other land. Though you'll find it's a tough place to survive, it might also be one you're in no hurry to leave behind. I believe every gamer out there should at least try this title, it deserves every bit of attention.

Also for PS3 users that want a little extra challenge, there is an exclusive level in the game that the xbox version does not have. "gold trophy" It will test your ability to think quickly as well as using your senses to determine where your at, in this nightmarish level.

This game is in every sense of the word a "masterpiece". One of the most challenging and rewarding experience, ive had the privileged to play. Once i 100% this game, i couldn't help my self but boast to all my friends that i accomplished something great.

Limbo is one of the most satisfying games I have played in the puzzle or platform genre in a long time. The graphics are beautifully simple, the sound is chilling, and the game play and physics are appropriate for the environment. As with most games I love to play it seems too short. For the money and experience of it, no stars lost for that. I didn't get the 2 other games but would consider those a bonus and would buy Limbo all over again by itself.

Honest reviews on 3 pack - LIMBO, Trials HD, Splosion Man - Xbox 360

I played this collection and while it's not bad, it could be better.

Limbo: (4/5)

An artsy, intense, thinking, trial-and-error game. With the exception of some frustrating levels and small control quirks a very good game. I beat it.

Trials HD (3/5)

Fun initially but eventually the level design and trial-and-error of it all gets frustrating. Trials Evolution is probably better but haven't downloaded it yet

Splosion Man (2/5)

Main character is pretty annoying and level design is frustrating. Reminds me of old Sega Genesis games except less fun.
