Not only did the description NOT tell me it would be a non-English translated card, but the picture description is entirely in English. I don't know how to read the language the card is in, nor have I ever used one of these cards to purchase a game.

UPDATE: I contacted the seller, who provided me the directions I needed, I hope. I have not yet tried since this was supposed to be part of a Christmas gift, but now will be something I just give on the side after my son opens his Xbox. I feel better that the seller contacted me right back with useful information and feel assured that the code will be in English and able for me to read.

My wife and I ordered this card as a stocking stuffer for the kids this past Christmas 2012. We were concerned when we received the card and the instructions were written in Russian or some such. Still, when the kids unwrapped their new Xbox and Kinect we scratched off the back of the card, typed in the codes for Gunstringer and Fruit Ninja, and viola, the codes worked and the games were in English.

As for the games, they're both fun and family friendly.

Best Sharkoon X-Tatic True 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound Gaming Deals

Sharkoon X-Tatic True 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound Gaming Headset

This headset rocks! I definitely took a chance on these despite not having seen any previous reviews or ratings, but it was worth it. I wanted to test it out for a few weeks before writing a review. Also, this is my first Sharkoon product.

Along with the headset itself, it includes

optical cable

"sound control unit" (your little magic black box where all cables run to)

adapters for PC (comes with 5.1 analog for those w/o pc optical), 360, ps3

detachable boom mic (it does flex to your preference)

power supply (single cord which splits off to power your SCU and headset separately) Ex.) you can still disconnect the power to the SCU and still have power running to the headset by itself. The power supply comes with swappable heads. I guess this is if you go out of the country and want to use their foreign outlets.

It took me a little bit of time to figure out all these adapters, settings, and wires (there are a lot of wires.)

The Sound Control Unit (SCU) is where your optical, power supply and 9-pin headset connector come together. You can also adjust the general volume here, but I usually just use the volume adjust attached the the headset cord. There is a 5.1 analog output as another option for those PC users without an optical option. With two 9-pin headset jacks, a second person with the same headset may also listen in. Two Dolby options include Dolby Digital and Pro Logic. There are two included settings called Time-Delay and Dynamic Range Control located on the SCU.

Both of these passages taken directly from the manual. Either setting can be turned on or off.

"Time-Delay The Time-Delay function allows to define a time delay for the sound reproduction for each speaker. Thus a spacious playback of the audio signal can be achieved. Note that increasing the delay too much may cause unnatural results."

"Dynamic Range Control Dynamic Range control limits the dynamic, decreasing the level differences between loud and quiet passages in the Dolby Digital 5.1 signal thus balancing the effect of loudness."

Other nice features include a volume adjuster which is attached the headset cord. The X-tatic logo on the headset AND also the attached volume adjuster light up. Looks good to me! The volume is indicated by the different colors lighted up on the volume adjuster ranging from green (very low) to red (very high). The sound volume from each speaker can also be adjusted individually. So say you're sniping and you want to hear even more of the sounds behind you. You can "up" the volume on the rear speakers to do just that. Or you might be looking to get more "boom" from your sounds. You can increase the bass volume while keeping the other speakers at their current volume.

There is a switch to turn off your voice. You can't hear your own voice while speaking, but I prefer it that way. Voice volume from other people can also be adjusted independently from game volume. So when I hear a lobby full of annoying kids, I lower the voice volume and just "up" my awesome game volume. Bliss.

Comfort 5/5 Took a night of gameplay to "break-in", so now it fits comfortably. Good padding so it sits well on your head. The ear cups can be tilted and also swivel to match your unique head shape (a BIG plus for me.) I can wear these 4-5 hours easy.

Sound 5/5 Amazing! Playing MW2 and GOW2 is a whole new experience now! Sounds I never knew existed in these games gave me a whole new appreciation! Distant gunfire, rustling of bushes and grass around me, and even slight downpour can be heard. With that said, the 5.1 directionality will add a whole new dimension to your gameplay. For me, there is a clear distinction between if gunfire is coming from front, rear, front left, rear right, etc. Footsteps come in loud and clear. This keeps me more aware of my surroundings. Hurray for situational awareness!

Price 4/5 It is quite the steep investment for me at $159.99, even with the free shipping from Amazon (love ya for that Amazon!) I did have to think twice before my purchase solely because the price. Now that I look back on it, it was the right move.

Overall, this headset definitely meets my expectations. It looks good and has some surprisingly cool features. Maybe if they could fix the amount of wires, but I guess that what it takes to work on the pc, 360, and ps3.

Good Hunting!

This isn't meant to be a very technical review, but I will share my opinion with hope that I can answer some questions that I had when reviewing these headphones.

I've been using these headphones mainly for PC and PS3 games. For those of you with intention of using these with an xbox 360, be warned you will need to purchase a specific xbox360 adapter for the optical audio (I would have tested MW2 already if I had the xbox360 connection). The PS3 has and most newer PC motherboards even have the optical audio connection. If you're really serious about having amazing PC audio, you might consider an aftermarket sound card ... but then again, if you ARE really serious, you'd be buying an ACTUAL 5.1 system and not just headphones.

These aren't meant for stereo sound and only do a mediocre job at best when just listening to music, unless you connect the 5.1 analog adapter and use the orange (center and sub channel), then it sounds better. I haven't compared these to any other gaming headset, but I have no complaints on the sound quality. You do have the ability to adjust the volume of the front, center, rear and sub channels which is very handy for getting the sound just right. You can go further and adjust other settings, but I haven't tinkered with that.

These headphones are also very comfortable. Most of the weight is on top of your head and not on or over your ears which greatly reduces ear fatigue. I have used them for 3+ hours with little discomfort!

Take note that these are in no way noise canceling headphones. If you have the volume down low, you will be able to hear what's going on around you, and those around you might hear what you are listening to if you've got the volume up very high. That's not a big problem though.

I've used the mic over Skype and in games such as SC2 and have had people comment on the good quality of the sound of my voice. It's nice that the mic is detachable, but honestly, it's never really in the way and I never detach it.

The headphones themselves glow green, quite brightly. This is a nice feature if you're trying to impress people with cool hardware, but it's annoying to have them sitting beside my bed on my desk at night when I'm trying to sleep -an acceptable annoyance.

The mess of cables isn't really an issue considering I already have a mess of cables on my desk where I have a PC, PS3 and Xbox360. If you are worried about the mess of cables, you might consider purchasing a longer optical cable as the supplied one is quite short (approx 2 feet). This way you can have the adapter and all the cables hidden somewhere. The cable from the headphone is very long, so don't worry about that.

One last note, this purchase was a shot in the dark. I had never heard of Sharkoon before and am quite pleased. I was debating over this and the TRITTON AXPRO and chose these. I don't regret my decision!

Best Deals for Sharkoon X-Tatic True 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound Gaming

I ordered the Sharkoon Xtatic after quite a bit of online research. I was at first going to buy a surround sound system to play my PS3 with. After considering this and the fact that my roommate might not appreciate my midnight Call of Duty "boom sessions," I decided to check out surround sound headphones. These can range widely in price, and my budget was admittedly low.

After some browsing the web and reading lots of reviews, I came to the Sharkoon Xtatic. Not much was available online about it, as far as reviews go. I couldn't find many other 5.1 headset for the PS3, so I decided to take a gamble.

The verdict: I like my headset. It is a lot of fun to use and really immerses me in my first-person shooters, like Call of Duty. I also enjoy having the mic built in, as opposed to a standard 5.1 headphone set. However, I don't think the performance justifies the price tag. I feel like a stereo headset would be only a hint behind the Xtatic in performance, as the surround sound in the Xtatic is not very great. It does have a somewhat surround feel to it, but not what I had hoped for. If I could go back, I would have either paid more for a surround sound speaker set (and annoyed my roommate), or I would have paid less money for a nice stereo headset. I just don't think this headset performs well enough to justify the price. Also, I will add that the Sharkoon has quite a tangle of cables to connect in order for everything to work properly. This isn't a deal breaker for me, but for anyone obsessed with maintaining a clean, clutter free wire setup, I don't think you want this headset.

One more thing. I have noticed some nasty distortion when I play Guitar Hero World Tour. This tends to happen during the loading screen when the crowd is cheering. Haven't had any sound problems in CoD:MW, or MW2.

Honest reviews on Sharkoon X-Tatic True 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound Gaming

Astro? Turtle Beach? Tritton? I own many gaming headsets from these companies, including each of their flagship models. How do they fair against the $139 Sharkoon X-Tatic True?

In the interest of brevity:

Astro A40($250+): Although more comfortable, the Astro A40's do NOT come close in Sound or Build Quality. Winner: Sharkoon, by a long shot.

Turtle Beach PX5/XP500($213-$240+): Nothing shines with Turtle Beach PX5's/XP500's. Horrible even if they were to retail for $99. Winner: Sharkoon, NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Tritton AX Pro($160+): Better than the Turtle Beach Brand, even though Mad Catz shall lead them to their doom. Build quality: FAIL. True 5.1 Implementation: Fail. Even though they are considered to be exactly the same as the Sharkoon X-Tatic True... they are not. Winner: Sharkoon, Superior Sound & Build Quality.

Funny right? The headset with the lowest cost DOMINATES it's competitors that cost $21-$111 more.

Build Quality: 5/5 Most solid of any of my 20+ headsets.

Comfort: 3.25/5 Heavy & In-Line amp could use a belt clip like my A40's have.

Mic: 4.5/5 Clear & Flexible but could be a bit longer

Incoming Chat(PS3): 4/5 Clear but volume is a bit too low

Sound: 4.75/5 Superior Sound Quality. #1 Gaming Headset.

Gaming: 5/5

Directional Recognition: 5/5

Gaming Booms(Bass): 5/5

Top Quality Headset. Don't Fear this purchase as I did. You will not regret this great buy.

Well based on the reviews, I purchased these headsets and I've had them for two days and I'm very satisfied. My review is from the point of view of a PC user and not X-Box.

I have a set of Klipsh 2:1 Speakers and was considering a surround sound system, but the family is already complaining about my loud music and games. I figured a better alternative was to get a surround sound headset which I can play loud as I'd like. I mostly watch movies and Game a little. I researched up and down and found that these have 4 speakers per side and claim to provide true surround sound in a headset.

Below are my impressions:

1. I have a Soundblaster Fatality Titanium Sound Card. Maybe your results will be different with a different card but these speakers work well with this model. I tried running the headsets both through the box connected to my Digital out put and through the analog plugs and by-passing the box. There is an option to not use the little box and connect the headset directly to your PC using analog cables. I had to pull out the manual because the color coding on these cables are European and don't match the Sound-blaster Color Coding. But using both manuals I matched up the right cables. There was no improvement without the box on any type of listening and you didn't get the full Dolby effect on the digital type sounds. The digital optical output through the box is the only way to run these you need the box to interpret the sound and bring out the beauty of Digital sound. Blue-Ray Digital Discs sound fantastic with these headsets.

2. Be careful there is a setting on the box (Button) that turns on Pro Logic. If the sound source is not Dolby or Digital than it sounds like crap. I believe this is why a few people may have given these Headsets bad reviews. Their fault they had the Dolby Prologic on with the wrong source. By the way the base is very strong on these at normal settings with options to turn it up directly through the headset control.

3. Music, If you are buying these to play YouTube stuff, forget it. It sounds fine but it just isn't Bose or Sennheiser Quality. If You are an audiophile about music and getting it from non digital sources, get a digital splitter and/or a different headset. This speaker set excels with gaming and movies and with anything that is using Digital DTS or Digital Dolby 5:1 or surround sound effects. Blue Ray Disks are incredible. You tube stuff is very mediocre.

4. Netflix When I first turned on Netflix it sounded horrible than I unchecked Dolby, wham 100% turnaround. I believe that my Soundblaster EAX took over because the next thing you know

I was listening to Apocalypse Now and Bullets are sounding all over the place I was wowed by the excellent sound. These don't just simulate surround sound, they are surround sound. I confirmed this in another scene from Apocalypse Now. In this scene near the end Sheen is first talking to Brando. The camera is switching perspectives. The stuff happening from behind sounded from behind and the stuff in front to the front. It confirmed without a shadow of a doubt that these do more than just simulate surround sound. I heard sounds behind in front and to the sides!!

4. Games. I played Crysis and it was very immersive. I haven't played enough games on this to comment but I believe that it excels at gaming, I was getting the forwards backwards sideways sounds and to it was great.I think alot is going to depend on the game and how it's programmed. But digital games are going to sound awesome!!

5. Comfort. I don't know why but even though these are huge they aren't hot and sweaty. This is the first two sided enclosed headset that I've used where I wasn't sweating rivulets. I really can't figure why they are so comfortable. I wear glasses and have no problems.

So in conclusion, don't buy these for Non-Digital Music. Buy them for gaming and High Def Movies and you'll be a happy camper. Be careful not to use the Dolby button with non Dolby sources. Use a Digital Optical output along with the box.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Add on to original Review.

One of the complaints I've heard is that you can't turn these off. Actually you can, funny thing is that I picked this trick up in the reviews of a competitors Headset that's supposed to be similar to this one. If you push the Volume button and the "Front" buttons in at the same time the Headset will turn off. Kind of nifty because you'll never turn it off by accident and once you know the trick it's very simple.

I also felt that when I raised the volumes on the Box and used the volume of the headsets at lower volume that quality increased.

The game has 4 major elements: Cardio, Combat, Toning and 'Mind and Body'. The cardio and combat sections of the game are marvelous with lots of fun elements. The mini-games (in the combat and cardio sections) are 10 minutes each. Even the easiest level can get you huffing and puffing with lots of sweat. You are tested on your reflexes as well as precision. I don't know much about the strength part in the combat games because I kind of cheated by moving very very rapidly.

Just like what the company describes, you can set your own workout profile. It's as if you have your own personal trainer.

However, Sony needs to work out the kinks of the Eye Toy hardware. Our living room is quite comfortably sized for a couple with 2 cats, but Eye Toy doesn't think so. There is a distance of 7 feet between the TV and the couch, and the Eye Toy still doesn't think you have enough room. Unfortunately, Eye Toy isn't quite for apartment dwellers unless you mount the Eye Toy on the wall.

Lightings is another problem. The room needs to be EVENLY lit or else you'd have a hard time reaching one side of the screen. Setting the camera for 'dim room' helps tremendously. The camera sensitivity should set to Medium or even Low. I accidentally set it on High, and I saw my furniture playing the game with me.

Nonetheless, if you have a decent sized living room, and if you can get the camera working right, this game is AWESOME!!

Over all the game has a very sweet idea to it play games and excercise at the same time. when you buy this title you wont be able to wait till you get home.

as soon as you start you build a profile your height, weight , age and how active you are. After you select your personal trainer they will set up a routine for you. mine was set up for advanced the first week i had a routine on Wed/Thu Fri/Sat Sun/Mon which seems like a lot of work but the excercises range from 4-10 minutes long each routine had only three excercise's though. if you dont want to go that route and want to just start playing you can build a routine. you routines will consist of either Combat, toning, mind and body , or Cardio. For those of you who think this product wont work i play football and baseball and the cardio workouts will get you winded and sweating, provided you dont cheat. And even if you think you are pretty warmed up beleive me you probably aren't. Like on the combat i swung at A Target and hit it but since you are swinging at air if you think you can just throw a haymaker right of the bat you cant, i thought i threw my arm out tyring to swing at that thing. Some of the problems are that you need to have quite a bit of room , and it needs to be pretty will lit. in some cases a had to wrap a shirt around my fist for the camera to pick it up. If you have a lamp or two close by just turn them on this should help.

Pros. 1. Burns calories

2. Fun and entertainiing for the whole family even mom and pops

3. Actually pretty challenging.

4. actually measures how hard you hit the object

5. ther are many more i jsut cant list them all

Cons. 1. need to have a pretty good sized area

2. needs to be well lit

3. and a few more little things but nothing major

Best Deals for Eye Toy Kinetic - PlayStation 2

I own five games for Eye Toy, the majority of the Eye Toy collection.

This might be the best use of this technology thus far. Fun, exhausting and highly customizable. There are thousands of ways to play this game. Each exercise has its own unique choice of music and an initial difficulty level that automatically increases as you progress through the routine. Entire guided fitness plans are created for each player after series of questions. It even snaps progress photos as you complete your plan.

In addition as the camera, a wide-angle lense is included to accomodate an entire body workout. After your body and a Playstation, everything you need is included. This is more than a game, it is a revolutionary exploration into what video games can do for us.

Per usual, while the Eye Toy does require a rather bright room to function well, a standard two-bulb overhead fixture works fine. If you really want the full Eye Toy experience, I would reccommend this game, as well as Antigrav.

Honest reviews on Eye Toy Kinetic - PlayStation 2

We just bought this game a week ago. Not a day goes by that I don't work out with it!

Why do I love it?

The game has Cardio, Combat, Tone & Mind Body.

Cardio the games require you to hit and kick moving orbs on the screen. This is really FUN!

Combat the games require you to hit and kick things on the screen, but HARD. This is also very fun and gets out any anger or frustration you have.

Tone Abs, lower body, upper body, arms... I've only done the abs portion on easy. I've done loads of pilates and crunches and though it starts off easy (for me, I imagine for people that haven't done a lot of abs work should probably take it easy) and works up to some really HARD abs stuff.

Mind Body These are fun stretching, tai chi, etc. games. Games, yes, and you have to break the orbs, or followi them, etc.

Very fun.

You can have a personal trainer in either Anna or Matt (I have Anna, my husband has Matt) and do a 12 week personal trainer workout that gives you days off.

There is also Routine Builder and you build routines if you wish.

I do both, the personal trainer mode and the routine builder mode. On my days off from the personal trainer, I do several cardio routines sprinkled throughout the day.

The warm up on the eyetoy is great. The stretch after is also nice.

What I like more about this game, rather than Yourself Fitness is that you are not doing jumping jacks and jumps. I have a really hard time with them, and YF doesn't have a skip (yet). Also, with this game the game doesn't have to test you. It knows how well you are doing (ie, because of the camera). On YF you have to constantly take hard physical exams which require you to do jumping jacks and interrupt you if you want to just do the exercise for the day.

So, I really really LOVE eyetoy kinetic!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Eye Toy Kinetic - PlayStation 2

I have problems staying motivated to go workout at the gym on a weekly basis. The motivation wasn't consistent for me, because I get bored easily doing the same things: riding a stationary bike, treadmill, precor machine, etc. With Kinetic, however, I'm having fun playing this "game", but I'm really getting some good exercise in!

I'm currently on week three of Personal Trainer mode. The first two weeks were fairly easy for me. I can tell, however, that the workouts are getting harder as I am sweating more and breathing hard, and the next day, I can feel the burn in my legs from all the squatting and kicking certain games entail, and my arms are sore, too, from all the punching.

One thing I think is missing from the game is the game not telling you proper form. Yes, you're punching and kicking like there's no tomorrow, but you risk getting injured if you don't know how to punch or kick correctly.

The yoga exercise, too, is great IF you've had yoga instruction before by a yoga instructor. For someone who has never done yoga before, they may find this difficult, or they will most likely not be using proper form. Same with the Tai Chi. I've never done Tai Chi before, so trying to follow this part of the game was pretty hard for me, even with all the camera angles the game shows. I would probably have to take a Tai Chi class somewhere to know what the heck I'm really doing.

Another thing that bothered me was the loading time in between the workouts. I guess it's good for those that need a good break in between to grab some water, but I just want to get into the groove and keep going back to back non-stop for a fluid exercise routine.

Overall, believe it, or not, I look forward to turning the game on to see when I'm scheduled for my next workout. That's how motivated I am now after buying Kinetic.

If you have enough room to play this game in, the lighting works out for you, and if you want to lose some weight and have fun at the same time without joining a gym or a sports team, Eyetoy Kinetic is the game to play! Of course, you only get out of it what you put into it. Don't forget to also watch what you eat!

Item exactly as described, and then some. Was very pleased with the quality from the minute I opened the box.

The mod function does A LOT. it has ten modes and you can add on a bunch of different sub modes. The ten modes of rapid fire are more than enough because you can program them all. Plus with the extra sub modes this modded controller is capable of so much. in all id estimate there are thousands of combinations of mods and modes.

Jump shot , drop shot, quick scope, everything works great. I play gears too and the perfect active reload helps a ton. in all I saw a huge performance boost after using this controller.

The trigger stops are really good too. they definitely help and are easy to get used to. also the metal thumb sticks grip real nice. everything about it is awesome. bullet buttons I haven't gotten used to yet since the tops are flat but they are responsive. im thinking of putting on regular buttons.

The controller arrived on time and worked flawlessly out of the box. More surprising was the company aftercare, since they on their own initiative contacted me to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase and offered to address concerns in the event I had one. Actually first time, that someone contacted me to make sure I was happy with product. Would highly recommend this product and I can't wait for one to come out for Xbox One. I highly recommend.

Cheap Global Game Gear GGG0002 18 Foot Wireless Extension Cable for Wii

Global Game Gear GGG0002 18 Foot Wireless Extension Cable for Wii and Wii U
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars

We have a wall mounted TV and a in wall component rack that is about 15 feet away. We put the Wii in the cabinet, but could never get the wireless sensor bars to work very accurately. So, we bought this extension cable, ran the wire through the wall with the other TV wires and use the sensor bar that came with the Wii. With the 6 or so feet of the wire already attached to the sensor bar, we had plenty with this extra 15 feet to make the route to the wall cabinet. I am not sure why, but it simply works 10X better than the 3 wireless bars we wasted money on. I, and the kids, are VERY HAPPY with this product!

Update: We have been using this for about a year now still no issues!

Extension cable did not work. My stock sensor bar and cable work fine, but when attached to this extension cable, it doesn't work. Also, the end that connects into the Wii port is Extremely loose. Would not recommend this cable.

Honest reviews on Global Game Gear GGG0002 18 Foot Wireless Extension Cable for Wii

It didn't work. The cable head was too small for my Wii's port, so it didn't connect properly and the sensor bar got no signal.

My cable worked fine, but it is extremely thin and flimsy, like the sensor bar cable. You'll want to use care when stringing the cable between walls. I also followed another reviewer's great advice and put electrical tape aroung the ends to prevent them being unplugged.

Review of Samurai Shodown V - Xbox

Samurai Shodown V - Xbox
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Anyone who has played Samusrai Showdown III will know what my review title means. You can't have a real Samurai Showdown video game without the French Femme Fatale.

Anyway, some people may be a little angry that the controls in this game no not match that of the first game. Personally, I like the new set-up. Three slashes and one kick may not make sense, but it's effective. What I don't like is that when you change the button settings in the game, the moves list in the pause-screen menu becomes less helpful: for example, when I changed fierce slahs from trigger L to button A, the list still told me that to execute Charlotte's projectile attack (it had a name, but I can't remember) I still had to end the button combination with either X, Y, or L. This isn't very bothersome if you know all the moves by heart ... I can almost see you Samurai Showdown enthusiasts shaking your heads! Not everyone has played thist series inside out!!

Anyway, the online play would be much better if there were others who played the game. Unfortunately, you'll usually find yourself waiting a long time for an opponent if you create a match or you'll just get the game's error message if you go into quickmatch or optimatch. This is a problem: there are a lot of Samurai Showdown fans and there are a lot of XBox owners, but there are apparently not a lot of Samurai Showdown fans who own XBoxes and have XBox Live. If you want to know if this game is compatible with 360, you'll have to look at another review or ask Microsoft because I don't know. I'm sorry if this review is not helpful. I remember playing this game for hours in the arcade of a bowling alley in high school. We used to play against each other for quarters, and eventually see if we can win the game using one man. The characters, sound effects, game-play, colors, and storyline are outstanding. I know this game is not like todays new games, but this brings back traditional combat games we have grown to love. I definitely recommend this to everyone who loves martial arts, fighting games, and those who would like to challenge all their friends online or perfect their own fighting style with their favorite character.

Plain and simple this game is made for those 2d fighter fans out there who waited years and years to be able to play the 2D games they loved online. This is an excellent port of the Neo Geo original which adds online play as a part of the package.

The graphics are dated and can't compare in sharpness or quality to those in SF3 or any of the GG games, but then again, if you're a Neo fan you already know what to expect. The game runs fast and fluidly both in single player and online. The new characters are ok, but I still tend to play with most of the SS1/SS2 cast. The online ranking system is flawed IMO, as the way it counts wins/losses wasn't very well thought out IMO.

Overall, a solid 2d title with LIVE support and a great price tag. If you're a 2D fighter fan waiting for something new to play on LIVE this is it. Stay tuned for KOF94 Rebout and more from SNK this year!

Honest reviews on Samurai Shodown V - Xbox

Those who played this (or any other SS game) more than once in arcades will love it. New(er) generation of gamers may not.

This is a direct port from the NEOGEO platform. Graphics prove it. They are easily the worst thing in the game. Controls are very smooth and responsive (I gave up playing SF Aniv. Ed. because of its horrible controls). Gameplay is much more advanced then I remember from SS and SS2. Most of the original characters are present, plus a whole bunch of new ones, some good some bad. Sound is a marginal improvement over the previous titles and some character noises are downright annoying. The Arcade mode starts out pretty easy, but gets more difficult after first three challenges.

For those nostalgic for "the way games used to be" this should be a lot of fun. With XBOX Live (Which I don't have) it should be a blast.

I will firstly mention that unlike most of the countless narrow minded attempts at reviewing this game that I have recently read (by so-called professionals), my rating will be one aimed at the hardcore 2D fighting game connoisseur and NOT one aimed at the modern day `give me amazing 3D graphics or I'm not interested' gamer! AND, it will be about the GAME, and not an attempt to impress the viewer with cryptic metaphors and useless pulp.

Games like these are specifically aimed at those who have an appreciation for traditional artwork in games, and characterisation something that most will agree SNK are the grand masters of.

GAMEPLAY

Awesome depending on how much investment of time you put in you will get a lot out of this game. There are many elements to the gameplay that make it timelessly fun. You can dash, duck, retreat, and obviously block, to name a few of the core tactical defensive elements and these really lay the foundations for some speedy epic gameplay, for which the controls a very responsive.

In terms of defence, there is nothing quite like the moments where you and your opponent each exchange blows, each defending one another's blows one after the other until an opening is left, this almost becomes a full blown sword fight at times! And the beauty of it is that unlike your average non-weapon based 2D fighters, you sustain no damage when blocking with weapons (unless you are disarmed), this makes for some very exciting moments which can draw the length of the bout out, giving it an amazingly challenging intensity. In the case that you are disarmed you may get relentlessly slashed at with only your arms to defend you which will cause blood loss and some small damage. The option menu allows you to increase the amount of successful bouts to I think FIVE a piece if I remember correctly which is great if you like an epic lengthy battle.

This game's fun element pays off the most if you wait for the right moments to strike your opponent, instead of button mashing your way through. And to be honest you are not likely to be successful button mashing as the computer A.I. is very good most of the time. The A.I. is at a perfect balance for the most part the computer is equally defensive as it is offensive almost as if you are battling a human controlled opponent, a big plus. Much of the time you will have to study your opponents tactics in order to find openings for the best attack timing (this is something that many reviewers interpret as a severe imbalance because they were not prepared to learn their opponent's strengths and weaknesses, and have another shot)

Knock out's are nice with a slow motion effect kicking in as the looser gets sliced or smashed this is particularly nice when you manage to KO your opponent with Genjuro's grab and stab style move, where you get to hear your opponents innards burst within them as Genjuro lifts them off the ground while he runs them through 2 times in a row with his razor sharp Katana blade. Nice.

It's a shame that SNK Playmore didn't release the `Special' version of Samurai Shodown V for PS2/XBOX which has the death moves, but it's understandable that with it being the final NEO GEO AES/MVS release that they wanted to keep it exclusive. This game still has enough to it to be worth your time despite it only being the standard release though don't be swayed.

GRAPHICS/PRESENTATION

Good and again I remind you that I aim this review at hardcore 2D fighting game connoisseurs and budding enthusiasts alike.

The sprite animation is not particularly consistent, but there is worse out there. It makes the grade at least. There are certain animations that are very fluid indeed leaving you with a satisfied `arcade reminiscent' feeling. Characters all have their own distinct stances and personalities the animation conveys these very well and it gives the game a very interesting look. I personally find that having the colour/brightness settings on my TV lower than typical helps as it gives the graphics a less cartoony look and more of a washed out look which helps give the game the darker more brooding atmosphere that it lacks slightly compared with earlier games in the series. Because the characters may be stylised caricatures, but they are apparently loosely based on real people way back in history who had motives as dark as those conveyed in the game.

The zooming in and out effect is used with fluidity just as it was in the arcade. Backdrops are pretty good not the best I have seen by any means, but they are colourful and set the scene nicely. What's nice about the backdrops is they extend beyond the top of the screen with separate layers for horizon detail which is nice to see as you get pummelled up into the sky by your opponent or vice-versa.

SOUND/MUSIC

Very nice You get `chings' and `changs' of colliding metal weapons, slicing flesh sounds, monotone spurting blood sounds all very effective and best if you have your console linked up to a hi-fi system so you can really feel the bass impact of the body blows or when a body hits the deck. The battle cries are brilliant for the most part each character has more of these than you would find in your typical 2D fighter which keeps it interesting. Some of the characters have some repetitive battle cries which can become a little irritating, but hey, this just gives you an incentive to decimate them a whole lot faster! A little annoying but you just overlook it because for the most part battle grunts and such are modest and realistic. It tends to be the quirkier characters that are a little more flamboyant in this department.

Music is good some good variation some stages are up-tempo and energetic while others are more sombre or melancholy, but all done with the distinct traditional Japanese instruments which sets the scene just right, and at times create almost a ghostly atmosphere excellent.

IN A NUTSHELL

Basically if you're like me and LOVE the oldskool 2D fighters for their unique feel and have been deprived of a decent Samurai Shodown game because you didn't have the money or the right console or whatever the case may be BUY THIS. As long as you expect a strictly oldskool affair and don't build yourself up into thinking its trying to be something more than what it's actually aiming to be, it's money well spent.

I have had the Turtle Beach XLC headset for a month now and have a very firm grasp on what it's all about. First and foremost, I have seen a number of people complaining that the chat is poor. This is because these people did not realize that the game sounds (effects, character voices, music, etc) must be turned down in the game settings menu--and then the chat is controlled by the TV volume. You need chat to be louder than game sounds, right? Well this is how you separate it!

Once properly adjusted, you can easily see why the XLC is an excellent headset and well worth the $29 price tag. In fact, the audio quality is outstanding for such a low price tag! Mic chat is clear as a bell--both incoming (when set up properly) and outgoing as well. Plus, the noise cancelling earpads are a very welcome feature to have since it allows you to completely focus on the game. For competitive FPS gamers like me, this is extremely useful.

Two things to keep in mind with the XLC:

1) Be sure to properly configure the game/chat balance as described above.

2) You must have a headphone jack on your TV (or home sound system receiver) to provide adequate power to the headset speakers. If you don't have a headphone jack anywhere to power the speakers, then I would strongly recommend the X1 or X11 instead.

I got mine last week and I had the same thing happen. I could not hear anyone talking on the game chat, I was gonna send them back but I gave 1 more try. I found out that your tv volume is the chat volume so just turn the tv volume up, but don't use the splitter cable that comes with it because that keeps you from turning up the tv volume. You have to turn down the in-game sound a little bit but it does work great. The best headset for less, it's a must buy if you can't spend a lot.

overall this is a good headset. much better then the standard xbox 360 headset. I haven't got any feedback or static through this headset. and other player don't complain about hearing the Tv through it. this may because it draws the audio directly into the headset. but even when i did have the sound from the game really loud it picked up my voice and still when i asked players about the background game audio they said they couldn't hear it and i sit very close. the boom mic is adjustable but it works best if it directly in front of your mouth. i had it point straight up and was told they could barely hear me. One thing i did want to know but no one had stated was that if you plug this into you xbox 360 controller and other players can hear you however you can not hear anything through the headset game music or players voice. The voice chat isnt very loud. the volume button on the headset itself turns down both game music and voice chat which isnt helpful. its hard to hear voice chat over the game volume unless you and your party are yelling at each other through an intense game of wat have you. however i was playing Gears yelling and they were playing something with less action and i could not hear there "indoor voice" at all. To change this you have to go into the game options and lower the game volume settings to balance it out. something else i also recently found out is that if you using this headset while watching netflix or a movie and you are in party chat but not netflix party chat it will silence everyone. the Microsoft wireless headset does not do this. This headset ear buds are indeed very soft and the sound is very good. its not just sound from ur left and your right side it actually does sound like its coming from behind right moving closer and or circling around you. The headset does feel a bit snug on my head. the cords to connect the headset to a headset jack on the tv is really long. Overall this is a good headset for the price. the sound is good the voice clarity is good, its fairly comfortable but i wouldn't recommend for casual gamers. this is more for gamers who play long session in intense online shooters or squad base games.

Honest reviews on Ear Force XLC Stereo Headset with Mic - Xbox 360

So, I purchased these today from BestBuy(more expensive, but faster return) with the plan on testing them out. I just purchased a 40" tv that does has 2 headphone outputs and a Toslink optical out, and I thought that these would be the best starting place to test headphones on. I am in the process of getting an Xbox 360, so I was unable to test the microphone on these unfortunately.

However, after only about 1.5 hrs of use, these have I have noticed some unfortunate problems with these:

1. I was also considering the X11 headset, but decided to start here as it was cheaper. However, I did have the

chance to wear the X11 in-store, and I thought the padding was excelling. While I knew that the XLC wasn't as

good, I thought it would be ok. I was wrong. These have caused my ears to hurt, and due to the vinyl/pleather

material on the cushion, it began to irritate my ears and cause them to itch. This isn't something that I

foresee being able to acclimate to for hours at a time.

2. The inline volume control does only adjusts the total volume, and it does not appear to raise it very much. I

set my tv to what I would consider the threshold of "too loud", and at the maximum volume on these, it wasn't

even close to too loud, which means that trying to raise the volume in a situation where it is needed won't be

terribly possible.

However, despite the issues that I found to be too major to consider keeping these, I was pleasantly surprised by two things:

1. Most(if not every other) TurtleBeach headset requires an additional USB cable to be involved to power them.

These did not, which I apparently hadn't realized. It was a nice surprise, and I imagine the USB requirement

could be a deal breaker for some.

2. The mic was surprisingly flexible, and it can rotate almost a full 360 degrees(going down, not up, I learned).

This is something that doesn't appear to be very common with gaming headset.

Overall, this headset wasn't exactly bad, but it wasn't for me. Hopefully this helps someone.

Ok so I ordered my Turtle Beach Ear Force XLCs back in November and I absolutely love them! They far exceeded my expectations and have greatly improved my gameplay. I mainly use them for COD/Black Ops but I cant wait to use them in other games like Forza Motorsport 3. The sound quality is unmatched. Its crisp and clear and you can adjust it. I bought this model not only because its affordable but you can hear the game chat along with the game sounds. I've even used it with my iPod and was totally amazed. So I give it 4 stars.

Things have changed, it's a fact. And I know some people are not going to like it. Back when I first played Guitar Hero 2, all the way up through playing Rock Band 3 most of tonight with my brother, what I have always loved about all of these games is shredding on a tasty solo. Something entirely self-indulgent, and an obscene amount of fun. That being said, that is not what Rock Band 3 aimed for this time. The emphasis has shifted and is now on the entire band. One could argue as Rock Band was the first to come out with the drums / bass / vocal parts to create the band performance, the emphasis has always been on the band. But for me it always seemed like for the most part the vocals, drums and bass parts were all secondary to most of the songs that really have stand-out guitar parts. The selection of songs is indicative of a change in focus, from being the "guitar" game, to being the "band game." No where is this more obvious than in Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody.' I was looking forward to playing the two awesome guitar solos in it, but when playing the song, a lot of it has me either sitting through vocal / drum / keyboard sections, or playing very easy note sequences. The songs are more mellowed-out, more easily accessible to those people looking to play as a group. Some people will not like that, but I don't mind so much.

As far as songs go, I was disappointed to a certain extent. While we do get 'Free Bird,' 'The Beast and the Harlot,' and 'No One Knows,' as the other reviewer pointed out, those songs have been in previous Guitar Hero games. There are so many songs that would be so cool on Rock Band, but some of these are just recycled, and I'm not sure why. But since all of my downloaded songs carried over it really wasn't too big a deal. What we are really paying for in this game is the new ways in which songs play out, and the upgraded features the new software offers.

You know that feeling in a sequel where you're having fun, but it's a tentative kind of fun, where you're waiting to see or experience something that they changed from the previous game that you are really not going to like? That's how I felt for the first couple of hours while I was playing tonight. But I have to give Harmonix credit once again. It seems that they left everything that worked in Rock Band 2, and then added features that were lacking from that game. For instance, when playing a set I was always disappointed that the only song you could see your note streak on was the last of them. It's been changed now. Rock Band has taken a page out of Guitar Hero's book here, and made your song stats viewable between songs. They even offer breakdowns of every section of the song, as well as a breakdown of how many points you earned in what ways (ie keeping a streak, overdrive, sustained, etc.). On top of that, when you are playing a song with more than just yourself, it shows you how many points each player got individually, minus the combined overdrive effect, which is neat. And you can rate songs right after you play them, which is a nice feature when you have ~500 songs so sift through.

Solos are slightly different looking, not so much in your face anymore. Instead of the note track glowing glue, the edges of the track glow blue. Most of the time you won't even realize you're playing a solo until you notice it counting your percentage. Same thing with a new addition to overdrive. There are still the white-note sequences that earn you 25% of overdrive, but now there is also a new kind, where the edges of the note track will glow yellow, and for getting those parts perfectly you earn 50% overdrive automatically. I'm ambivalent on that point though. I didn't see as the overdrive needed changing, but it's definitely not something I'm complaining about.

Setlists can now be saved to be played whenever you want, and the filters for organizing or displaying songs has been greatly expanded (Artist, Album, Genre, Decade, Instrument, Pro Mode Difficulty, Keyboard Part, Rating, Alphabetical by song, etc). Some things have been altered a bit, but it takes a learning curve or just a few minutes. As with recent Guitar Hero games, you can now drop in or out of a song or set at any time, as well as change profiles during any menu screen, which is a really nice new addition to the Rock Band repertoire. Another little thing that I noticed was pausing during a song. We've all done it, and it seems to happen unavoidably when we have a streak going, we've all been there. Rock Band 3 has solved the issue, and it's incredibly simple. Guitar Hero: World Tour made it so when you unpause it gives you a few seconds to see what notes are coming, which was cool...but it was a frozen screen, and you had no clear idea of how fast the notes might come at you. With this game, when you unpause the song rewinds a few seconds, and while it doesn't let you replay notes, it scrolls a blank note chart for a few seconds so you can get the feel of the speed, and then you pick up right back where you left off. Awesome new addition to the game.

I think the only negative thing I can say about the game is that I miss the fun facts about bands that would display while the songs were loading. But again Harmonix won't even let me complain about that, because the reason they're gone is because loading times are insanely faster than they used to be. You pick your set, and within a few seconds the song is starting. I don't know how they pulled that off, but it's impressive. In fact, I think the only loading screen I've had so far was the first time I loaded the game, and the game was updating my downloadable songs. A+ for efficiency.

The only REAL complaint I can make is that the Pro Mode guitar controller isn't coming out for a couple more weeks (what's up with that, Madcatz?). But I can say this, I browsed the training tutorials for both Pro Guitar and Keyboard, and they are extensive. It really is an impressive accomplishment, and I'm really looking forward to trying it out when the guitar gets here.

The bottom line really is this: Even if you don't like any of the songs that come with Rock Band 3, you should still buy it to play your old songs with the news features, because it's so worth it.

I've been playing Rock Band 3 for the past couple of days with my friends. Before I continue, I'll outline my set up. We got the new keyboard, but have not yet bought the cymbals for the drums, and not planning on a pro-guitar until the Squier is released next year. So this is not a review about the touted 'Pro-Mode'.

This is a review for the people who have been waiting for the next evolution of their beloved Rock Band franchise.

At this moment, I'm hesitant to recommend this game too highly over Rock Band 2. Peripheral-wise, the keyboards sound like a great idea on paper. There is sufficient Pro-mode Piano instruction to get you started, and it looked like it could be fun, but the majority of songs we've played so far indicate that there are long pauses of nothing to do when on the keyboards for most songs. In addition, if you are playing with the game's 'random set-lists', you will be limited to songs that support it specifically--which amounts to maybe 60~ of our library of 250 songs. A little annoying to say the least. When making a set-list, you can use the keyboard as a guitar or bass, but it only seems relevant and fun in a few rare songs, like the Gorillaz 'Clint Eastwood'. When playing the game normally, we always have a tendency to avoid picking up the keyboard because it will limit our set-list so tremendously, which absolutely sucks.

Moving on to the gameplay and campaign, it is set up in an interesting, yet disjointed fashion now. Character creation is an absolute blast, and seeing my friends and I strutting through the city looks absolutely awesome! But there are no longer personalities to choose from, and so all characters on stage seem rather...the same? In Rock Band 2 we all laughed as our friend with a mohawk rampaged on stage; now my girlfriend's character may be doing that...or me. Eh. Also, is it just me or do the stages themselves seem more bland? In Rock Band 2 it was always a joy to go to a new venue and see our band's art on the stage somehow, and examine the stage's quirks. The fret-lanes that you play on as well take some time getting used to, and are decidedly more busy, but functional after spending some time on it. Not entirely sure if it is for the better.

The story is the typical 'rags to riches' fare, with a more personal feel to it as cut-scenes you unlock contain your characters in them and are usually pretty humorous. Getting your first van was one of my favorites. Also, instead of choosing venues to play at, you will now go on tours which revolve mostly around America. Your band is hypothetically located around the North-East, and the whole game's tours unveil around that fact. This creates a more linear affair, but also more personal. I like it.

What I don't like are questionable changes and ideas, and for lack of a better word, glitches. For one, Rock Band Stage Kit no longer works with the game. The game also has a tendency to stutter and have frame-rate issues in the middle of songs, which makes it heck on the singer every once in a while(it gives me headaches). The lack of personalities leads to odd sights on stage, where in one scene two people will be singing together, and a split-second camera change later, they will be on opposite sides of the stage. Huh? This omission really cuts down on the immersion when you realize that all of the videos are completely cookie-cutter and in no specific, logical order. The costume pieces(and every other character customization feature outside of body-sculpting) are mostly hand-me-downs from Rock Band 2. Disappointing.

And forget about playing Guitar, Bass, and Keyboards with your friends; you'll have to turn on All-instrument mode if you use this combination at all, and so drums and vocals will be turned on, with the vocals defaulted to easy, no-fail 'karaoke mode'. This was designed around the idea that only 4 players can be logged in at once, so the vocalist is the odd-player out by default...but even if you don't want a vocalist, or don't want a drummer, this is what you will have to use. You also won't be able to play on xbox live with this mode. And did I mention the venue will default to 'trippy music video' since the game doesn't want to render the crowd?

This All-Instrument Mode(AIM) is a complete fail in my mind. You wont even be able to pick your character as the vocalist. There HAS to be a better way to do this.

However, the set list is insanely fun, and you will be doing a double-take on many of the songs you hadn't thought you had heard before. You have. Trust me.

All in all, a fun game, but it has several glaring issues that have me wondering out loud, "What were they thinking!?"

Been playing since RB1, and have had the pleasure of experiencing those crazy gotchas with RB1 and RB2.

(1) New tour mode: Got through the first two locations (accessible by train) last night. I've got to say it's much better now, instead of being forced to play a particular song now they give you some options for each location. Each gig will present to you what you would like to choose to play, what I saw was:

Random set list (but at the top of the screen you could see the two songs that we're selected, instead of waiting until you're about to play to see the songs)

Random or Select 90s songs (some were random 90s genre songs, or you could select what songs you want to play from that genre).

Random or Select Classic Rock songs (^^)

(2) Achievements during game play: So, instead of just playing to collect stars you are also collecting spades. In which at one gig we had to get as many overdrives during the song, or another gig we were going for accuracy. Definitely adds to the gameplay I feel.

(3) People can now jump in or out during the song, no more having to start over! This will be put to the test this weekend, our son (17) is having his halloween party this weekend with a bunch of friends.

(4) Song interface is way better and much easier to use.

As we continue to play more I will update my review. If you are Rockband fan, this is a definite must have as you will not be disappointed!

Honest reviews on Rock Band 3 - Xbox 360 (Game)

Okay these music games have been floating around for a while now. And between all the different versions, game sequels, cheap knockoffs (PowerGig), instruments, and band games, the genre is more than a little confusing to navigate.

So I will attempt to put it as simply and plainly as possible... this is a triple-A title and the best one on the market, bar none.

Really the best part is that there is no "wrong" way to play it. There are single player goals to achieve. It has the best cooperative multiplayer out there. Online play. Modes for the most casual players all the way up to the hardcore elite. It can be enjoyed as a standalone disc or you can grow your music collection up to 2000 downloadable songs online. It will work with your existing music game hardware or you can endulge the cool new hardware versions which have recently released.

The few criticisms I have seen in reviews are mostly unfounded, or are nitpicking from a hardcore elite with no sense of perspective. This game delivers in spades at a time when the competition is resting on their laurels. I have been following the series since its inception and it has not disappointed me yet.

OK, I'm not an expert on the inner workings of the past Rock Band games, nor do I play the instruments. I do vocals. My husband and boys play drums and guitar. It's a great game for the serious players as well as people like us! We like the fact that there is instrument expansion with this latest version. Definitely we will be buying the keyboard and upgraded guitar in the future.

While I appreciate and find the other reviews very interesting and informative, my main interest in this game is just to have family fun. And, Rock Band 3 brought a new level of entertainment to us!

On a side note, my boys (who have been gamers for years) had been trying to get me to play video games with them for some time, but not until Rock Band 2 and the Beatles Rock Band came out did I finally branch out and "tentatively" try the game. Little did I know, I would be sucked into the Rock Band gaming community, forever. After all, girls just wanna have fun!

Second in series from Aksys games, this is actually a prequel to 2010's Agarest War, though no knowledge of the first is needed. That game had a rather troubled existence and bungled release depending on which console you used or were willing to pay for imports. This time we're all on the same page at least, and it's good to see that Aksys pieced everything together properly. This 3-star review is from a feeling of being completely underwhelmed, and in no way do I mean to imply that as a fan of things in-genre that I regret my purchase or didn't like it/have fun.

The premise here is, for all intents and purposes, the same as the original-a rather epic (in length) adventuring campaign with a sizable cast of quirky characters and villains that spans generational gaps. This is achieved via the offspring of the original protagonist, and you get some ability to mold through your actions. Good versus evil, light versus dark, all that good stuff. Character offspring is the "hook" to the Agarest series, where decisions made in dialogue raise and lower virtual affection levels of heroines in a way akin to a stereotypical Japanese dating sim. Awkward for some players, certainly, but there are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers. The story progression is mostly the same regardless (see below), so just enjoy.

The other major selling point on the series, for better or worse, is a rather intricate battlefield system that will certainly cause some head-scratching amongst new players. The basic JRPG phase/turn system is mixed up with action points and varying action combinations. Team tactics play a large roll and using combined skills of all types add extra damage that's an absolute must as things get harder. There are ~150 skill combinations in total and over about a hundred abilities to learn, where every character can use a different set. It requires thought, forces the player to think ahead, and unless in a situation where facing very weak foes at high levels there's no one simple way to complete a fight... so no real slacking off allowed.

The learning curve isn't bad on standard difficulty, but that's partially because of the massively high number of total battles. There's the oft-inept "auto" battle mode, which is supposed to give the player a break on the easier stuff, but it's impossible to properly express the stupidity of the AI and it rarely saves any time and/or effort.

Here stands a large point of contention for me at least-even though the hope is for combat to never really be entirely the same and for players to use all sorts of fancy attacks, it all feels so, so familiar as you move ahead. Drone-like, in fact. As you'll be fighting hundreds of times against what are essentially the same 20 types of baddie, it can become very draining. The sensation of "can we get on with the story now?" can become overwhelming at times. For players of the first, the combat system is almost completely unchanged and has only a few minor tweaks. Nothing particularly needed a "fix", so in that regard everything still works fine.

A minor reward from all the combat is that story scenes are fairly lengthy, are all fully-voiced (though in Japanese only), the narrative at least somewhat compelling (by video game standards), and characters develop some actual personality. The overhead world view is a rather nostalgic 2D wandering, and the moving character models in 'cutscenes' are still a major throwback to the 16-bit days and I find it rather endearing, even if astonishingly outdated and limited by the studio's production budget.

Another now-heavily recycled piece of the game is the equipment and upgrade/synthesis type. It's tried and true over several games now, and though there's nothing wrong with the user-friendly upgrading system, some kind of innovation or variation would be desperately welcomed. The interface is bland, items are notoriously hard to find materials for, and names of weapons and armor are a near copy-paste from the past.

Add things up and the end result is almost exactly that of the first Agarest with zero fundamental changes, and only a handful of surface adjustments. The sheer length of the game exasperates this all, though it does make the game a pretty good value assuming at least one play of 40+ hours. I'm not per say disappointed, but I may have hoped for more. Zero is by no means a "bad" game for RPG or strategy buffs, but it lacks a spark of something that would help to call it truly "special".

For anyone that enjoyed the first, there's no specific reason why they should stay away from Zero, at least if they know to expect virtually the same game with new scripts and fonts. For new players, it's a strategy challenge and a game where one full run through the storyline could feel rewarding, but split up your sessions. Going back to the "dating" bit from before-though it's not like you can't finish the game if you choose certain options, just playing on normal mode without much extra thought gives, well, a really lousy ending, and the assumption is that you'll start a NewGame+ on "Extra" (difficult) for the more eventful stuff. This isn't new for JRPGs, but you're left flying blind here most of the time.

I basically love everything by this developer including any recycled mechanics and the implication that you will need to replay the game to get the true end. I prefer cross edge honestly, but overall this is a solid game. I am dissapointed that they did not add more from the first game, and the battle system gets repetitive if you overlevel. The review below goes into more detail, but it is a solid srpg that focuses on extending attacks by placing party members in certain poximate patterns. If you want, you can subtract a star for admitted fan effect.

This is a great and very long strategy RPG with turn based combat. The enemies are varied, well, at least their colors look different for the various levels of the same monster, and that is nice. Battles also use different types of enemies, making the battles a little different each time. In combat, the first phase is move and the second is battle. However, characters and monsters will move in the second phase to use their abilities.

POINT SYSTEMS

XP = Experience points needed to level up, fight battles to get them based on the monsters

AP = Action points for movement and skills, character specific and can be enhanced with items

EP = Enhancement points used to upgrade equipment, given from battles based on the monster

TP = Tech points needed to purchase items from the Adventurer's Guild, given from battles based on maximum hit count

PP = Party points may be used to train any character's stats, given mainly from events

S-slots = Special slots on armor and enhancement items, convert other items to get these bonuses, examples STR+12, AGI+17. These do not affect level up.

Learning how best to use Extended Areas is crucial as this allows many characters, up to six, to gang up on an enemy. Also important is getting Overkills in order to get the best drops from the enemies. The Tutorials do well to explain these things but it is up to the player to become proficient with them.

Character development is a big part of the game. I like performing character development. I usually train Vitality for about 10 levels on all characters to increase their Health per level. Using Party Points, PP, helps in this regard. I concentrate on about six characters. Eventually all characters need to be levelled, however.

Creating a character is somewhat confusing. You choose five soul cards with two souls per card and a class (Warrior, Battle Mage, Sorcerer). You also choose your attack types. For those, I always go with Power-Power Light-Extra. The last two skills will not become available until level 45 when characters make a class upgrade.

Some people create a really great 1st Generation character only to find their 2nd Generation character is cruddy. Here are some insights on how this works:

Choosing Soul Cards at the beginning of the game will give the character 10 souls. Class choice adds 15 more souls, and special Event choices during the game will add a few more souls. Then, choice of bride will mix things up and give a 2nd Generation character. However, you get what you get, there area no soul card choices for 2nd Generation (or 3rd). If you choose the following cards you will get a great 1st Generation Battle Mage: 5, 24, 2, 19, 8. This will give the following stats and rankings: STR 16-B, VIT 10-A, AGI 16-B, INT 16-A, LUK 20-A, AP 17, MOV 4, weapon Sword. This will create a great 1st Generation character HOWEVER it will make a HORRIBLE 2nd Generation character!!! That is because this character has too many Dagger, Spear, Knuckle and other junky weapons (unless you like knuckle or dagger) and will also give horrible stats and rankings in STR and VIT no matter who you marry for 2nd Generation.

Instead, go with this: Cards 1, 5, 12, 21, 23, stats and rankings = STR 13-A, VIT 13-A, AGI 13-C, INT 11-C, LUK 13-B, AP 17, MOV 3, weapon Sword, as well as lots of Sword souls. The lower AGI can be overcome just by training. If you marry a certain warrior in 1st Generation, your 2nd Generation character will have S-S in STR-VIT and use Sword! The other stat areas are not too bad, either. Picking up another Gun, Dagger or Spear helps AGI, as well. Having a 4 MOV on the main character is a luxury not often needed. The AP is still 17, and that is nice! Also, equipment upgrades make more of an impact on attack, magic attack, and defense. Characters also get AP from equipment upgrades.

Training your stat areas is important in the long run, but in the short run Item Upgrades are far more useful. A warrior should not be training INT, anyway! As for Sorcerer, I was not able to make a 1st Generation Sorcerer that can use Staff, you get Scythe, instead. However, marrying the Mage girl, as a Sorcerer, will give a Mage for 2nd Generation, either with Staff or even Sword & Staff.

The game dialogue is in Japanese, but there are English translation dialogue boxes to read for the events. Frankly, I did not mind the language, I don't know Japanese, but it was no big deal to me.

Save Before Every Event In Case You Want To Re-choose Your Choices!!!

I've played this game many, many times. But unfortunately, it's one of those games that you will either love or hate, which you can tell by the reviews here and I love it.

This game is pretty lengthly, gives you a choice of things to say in response to questions and is overall fun, especially since you get to play the entire movie. I recommend this game to die hard fans, but like I said, don't be surprised if for some reason you don't like it. Some do, some don't. Simple as that

First thing to remember with this game is KEEP WITH IT. Once you have mastered the controls it does get better. Based on the Phantom Menace movie, you get to control the characters Obi-Wan, Queen Amidala and others. With various weapons, blasters, rocket launcher and the favourite the light saber. Background music is great, the graphics aren't so great but still playable with. The Cut scenes are your standard fare but are pretty impressive. It does get hard in places but by using the 'try, try again' method you should eventually get through it, puzzles are solvable and light-saber duels near impossible. The only major aspect of the game that I was dissapointed with was the ending you'll see what I mean when you get there.

I first played this when i was 12 and absolutely loved it. i dont have a playstation anymore but im ordering it to play on my ps2. Yes, the graphics are terrible, the sound isnt good, but the actual gameplay itself is so much fun. this game has a free roaming feel to it, because you can do whatever you want. lots of random glitches happen but if you save your game every once in a while then its no big. Also, a lot of the one star reviews kept saying that when you die in a level you have to start all the way over...this is the case but what they didnt say is that you can save your game at any time down to the second. you have a huge jump to cross a gap? just save it, and if you dont make it, load your game and you'll end up right where you were. not great, but overall a fun game. the gameplay is what got this one 4 stars.

Even though the Japanese version is free, I was willing to drop a Lincoln for an official English version. Its a solid fighter, the sprites are well designed and the animation is good. All the text is in English while the voices are still in Japanese. I prefer Japanese voices so that worked out well for me. The game is also pretty hard, even on easy mode (I'm not particularly good at fighting games though. So maybe its just me).

I can also use my Xbox 360 controller with the game, so thats a plus if you don't like using a keyboard (unfortunately I don't have an arcade stick to try and see if that'd work).

I encountered one glitch where my character randomly disappeared off the screen. I don't know why it happened, but it hasn't happened again.

Also, there is no DRM :) Thats always a plus in my book!

I'd say its worth $5, especially considering the obvious lack of good PC fighting games.

The English release was unfortunately watered down and censored... to top it all of they are charging money for that 'service'. The Japanese version of the game was free.

I'd recommend everyone download the original Japanese version along with an English patch for the text.

...i remember playing the original free untranslated japanese version a few years ago. And aside from the translation by eigomanga, this game is the same version as the original. Though Eigomanga claims they tweaked it a bit by removing bugs and fixing the balance, i honestly dont see anything theyve done gameplay wise

nor have they fixed the arcade stick controller custom interface you still cant adjust your arcade stick to the buttons you want as it seems to be designed more for four button control pads

but for $5, this game is more than worth it. The character design and fighting engine is quite well done for what it is. Everything's bright and colorful, and the girls are cute and kickass.

I really hope there's a sequel in the future. this series has huge potential

The gameboy was great until the battery charger stopped working (within a month). Aside from this, my kids' only complaint was that many of the games were duplicates.

All efforts to resolve the faulty battery charger with the company, who initially told me not to worry bc it was guarranteed, ended in them ignoring my emails, with no refund nor replacement. It's been 3 months, and we still haven't resolved it. I wouldn't recommend this product, unless you buy from a reputable company, and not WoofersEtc.

I bought this after putting it off for various reasons. I am thrilled with it! The shipping time was SUPER FAST.I can't believe they squeezed all these games into this little unit! I am an old school gamer when I have the time, and the graphics of these games are just like playing an old nintendo or sega all over again. I plugged it into my 42" flat screen today and played Burgertime the way it was meant to be played. battery has a charged life of about 5 -6 hrs between charges which again works fine for me. The only other game I would add to this unit is JR.Pacman.(Maybe someone will come out with an Atari handheld ??!!please!!)I took it to work with me to show it off, and now a couple of them want one.I have only had this for about a week, but so far, I am happy with my purchase. GREAT PRODUCT !!

Two Worlds 2 is one of those games that you'll love it and hate it at the same time. It open doors with your imagination, and has alot to offer the statistics junkies. It has beautiful landscapes and the world does it's damnest to impress you.

The problem is gameplay. It has warts. Overall, the combat and exploration ON THE SURFACE is fun and ingadging. The problem is, combat never seems to get deeper and eventually just gets plain easy. Playing as a mage, you become armegeddon on legs.

Next in line to show it's ugly is the AI. Monsters and NPC's alike are plain stupid. Pathfinding, attacking, even acknowlwgement of your presence can and does break the emergence, the landscape tries so hard to get you to believe. Monsters will just stand there while you beat thier brains in.

Grafix is a booster shot. They are gorgous and very atmospheric. Dungeons look dark and creepy, tombs that does everything but provide the scent. Tourches throw eriee lighting around em, and towns feel lived in.

Sound. It is plainly AWESOME!!! Music, is very pleasing and match the atmosphere of the game. Monsters, voice acting (although sometimes campy), backround noises, sounds of the city really help make you feel the mood.

Two Worlds 2 overall is a fun game. The quests are all intresting, weapons, armor, spells, ect. ect. are fun to play with and experiment with. If you give it achance, you'll get your money out of it.

Based on the price I was more then pleased with this package. The way everything was packaged was very thought out. From the side of the box folding open to reveal the statue to the hidden shelf under the side holding all the goodies this is a very nice product. The statue is very detailed and doesnt feel cheap at all. The drawer under the statue holding the game, cards, map, etc is a nice touch. For what I paid I am definitely pleased.

Right up there with Dragon Age and Skyrim, Armor not as cool as Skyrim, pretty even with Dragon Age, Weapons were probably cooler, the thing that was above the other two though, was that u had 3 skill sets with u always and all u had to do to change into it was hit the d-pad, u had an Archer, Mage, and of course ur Warrior, really cool game
