This is DEFINITELY worth the $99.99 price tag back up to almost $150 (still worth it!!!), you get a tonne of great mixes, two turntables and a microphone, and if you pre-ordered it through one of the different promotions, you could've come out with a Puma bag or autographed turntables (this one being more expensive), shirts, etc. They have also released a patch so you can use DJ Hero 1 DLC (not DJH1 disc songs but DLC mixes) in DJH2. And if you are looking for the best deal, I think this WAS it. keep checking to see if they go on sale for $99.99 again.

I bought the Renegade Edition of DJH1 when it came out and enjoyed the game but felt certain things were missing from the gameplay mechanics. DJH2 is a lot more fun with the new gameplay, scratching is much more fun, cross-fading is really great, there's some of other nice things they've added and/or changed. Overall, this game is much improved on the first game, I haven't really played too much online myself though.

The track list in my opinion (subjective) is way better than the first. As soon as I heard Deadmau5, Kaskade and Calvin Harris were in this game, the price was more than justified (I paid at $154.99 haha) and still is considering what you get, especially the $100 price tag. The equipment is decent quality I haven't had any issues, however, I wish the microphone cord was longer, compared to my RB/Logitech mics it's kinda short. Some people won't mind this, but I would have liked it to be longer, oh and by the way, the DJH2 microphone works perfectly in RB and GH games (if anyone was wondering), not sure about the other singing style games (but I'd imagine it would be compatible for the most part).

This is perfect for people who are really into music (especially dance/electro/hip-hop) and video games or if you're a fan of music genre video games (RB/GH). It's a fun game for anyone really, just needs more Calvin Harris, Kaskade and Deadmau5!!!

*I added a bunch of pictures above as well.

If you are skeptical about buying this package deal, have no worries! My wife and I weren't sure if the pad itself would work as much as the other pads we have had (the plug-and-play brands). But we were wrong. These are the things that we love about the pad:

1. It's size gives a perfect and comfortable dance experience

2. The arrows are big enough so you don't miss them

3. When you dance on the pad, it does what it supposed to do...without any glitches.

4. On the bottom of the pad, it has a slip-resistant materialso when you dance, it doesn't slip!

5. On top of the pad, the arrows and menu buttons have a more rubber slip-resistant material; so when you are dancing hard-core, you're not slipping.

As for the games, both have great graphics. One of the things that we like about them is that they have different modes of play (approximately 4-5 on each game). Another plus is the Workout modeyou can choose what kind of workout you want, the pace, and such.

Besides the games, the songs are awesome! Between the two games, you have approximately over 120 songs...which is a PLUS!

Note: Some of the things that we didn't like were some of the songs...there were some punk-rock/gothic music (which we just muted the sound). Also, there was a picture of a gothic face in the background. Last but least, there is movement in the background...which sometimes makes it hard to stay focused on the arrows (for me, it wasn't a problem...but it was for my wife). So, in other words, each person as a like and dislike.

Overall, if you want a great deal for the dance pad + entertainment, this is what I recommend for such a great package with an awesome price!

Many of us fans of the original FF from the original XBOX were anxiously awaiting the release of a sequel. After waiting so long it is finally here.

Back from the original game are the characters we have all grown to love (or in some cases hate). Samson, Naomi, Geena, Dub, Jet, and every annoying Zack. Also in this game is a slew of brand new mini games, as well as some favorites from the original including, Sumo and Twisted System, sadly some favorites did not make it for whatever reason. That is not to say the new games are not as fun, because they are. One game involves you having to sink your opponent's boat using the water that opponents are trying to sink your boat with. Another one has you trying to stay on a waterfall by pressing random button that appears on screen. So the fun factor of the actual mini games is still there for the most part. However the Fuzion Frenzy round from the original game has been replaced with a beat the crap out of your opponents round in which you basically do that, using items and powerups from the environment. It's not as fun as the "Fuzion Frenzy", but still pretty fun nonetheless. Instead of different game zones in FF1, FF2 games take place on different planets, Earth and several other ficticious ones.

Graphics while not a big issue with a party game like this, are pretty well done, but like all of us know graphics is not what make a game like this fun, its the presentation, and sadly the presentation of this game falls way short of the original. The main problem is that the game moves entirely too slow. Instead of going directly to the action, before each mini game, you have to listen to this corny host with a light tie, lights shooting out of his shoulders, and buttons on his cuff links blab on and on, talking about the same thing, which is basically nothing. His voice is annoying as well. Ever so often you have to compete in a mini game to get stupid cards, and every time he says "Now you will play a game which I prepared myself on the ship." Luckily you can skip through this annoying babble and get to the game a little faster. But even during game play the announcer is annoying, always babbling along and he can't even say the characters' names, instead he says "How are you doing Player 1?", or "Player 3 lands an attack", YES he says "Player 1", not Samson, Naomi, Zack or ANY of the character names. Why? I have no idea, even the original version said the character names, surely the 360 version could do the same, but I guess not. This separates the player from the game even more. Even the character dialog themselves seem robotic and no emotion what so ever. I miss the annoying dialog from the original, like Zacks "Zack, shalack lack ack ack". They still saw some smart a$$ things, but nothing like the original.

Adding to the frustration, is that there are now annoying cards you can use before each mini game, which allow you to multiply your point values you earn in the mini game, meaning if you lose in the mini game and only get 2 point, if you use your x6 card, it means you would get 12 points, and if the winner didn't use a card, then you will be declared the winner of the mini game, even though you came in dead last. Cheesiest at its finest. Other cards reverse the effect of cards, so if you use a reversal card and someone else uses a x6 card, that effect will turn into a divided by 6 card instead. Another card allows you to steal the effect of a card from another player. More cheese.

And if that's not enough, only player 1 can gain achievements during game play. This is not a big issue for me, since my wife and I only play to have fun, but for some people this is a big deal since if Player 2, 3 or 4 wins the whole game, there will be nothing to show for it. I don't play online, but for those that do, there can only be one player per 360, so if you have two people at your home hoping you two will get to play online at the same time, forget it, only one player per XBOX online. Clearly lazy developing as they surely should have known players would want to be able to play otherwise.

This game had the potential to be even greater than the original, and when it comes to actual game play, it's pretty close, but the main thing that ruined this from being the incredibly fun game, was the poor presentation. Its like Hudson tried way too hard to make this game into an intergalactic game show instead of keeping it simple and focusing on what made the original so fun. The fun of the games is definitely top notch, but the overall presentation hurt my overall rating of this game.

First let me say that I am not good at the "regular" games for XBox (360 or otherwise). Anyway, when my husband bought the 360 I was excited to hear that FF2 was coming out for it because my husband & I had a great time challenging eachother and "fighting" during the first FF. So, when we got this a few days ago and started to play a LOT had changed about this. First, there is no Fusion Frenzy (the final game in each stage of the original). Unless, it is a game that we haven't unlocked yet. Which brings me to some interesting things about FF2. One, is that each character who wins the over all game unlocks a new game in a new world. Another is that you choose how many worlds you have to win between 1-5 overall winnings. Plus, this time you get cards that either let you choose the next mini game in the world or lets you multiply your mini game final score by either 2,4 or 6 times the amount. For example, if you use your times 6 multiplier in a mini game and get second place, then you get 6 (your original score for second place) times 6 = 36 points. Then you get first place in that game (which will really irritate the person who actually scored 10 to win first place). You also recieve stealer cards, which means if one person uses a multiplier and you use a stealer then you actually get the multiplier card. And, there is a divider card for someone who uses a multiplier card and you use the divider it will actually divide the persons score instead of mulitplying it. For the first world or so it might seem these cards are not worth it but as the worlds progress they actually seem more useful. Plus, you never know what cards people are choosing so you hope that you are using the right one at the right time. The cards come at random times either by fighting for them in a mini game that the DJ makes or just randomly after a game is won/lost. This game has the same characters as the original as well as some of the original games played in a different type of world. All in all, I think the original FF is the best but this one, once you get used to and get the hang of all of the new things involved is fun. One of the irritating things though is that there are only so many mini games to choose from when you first start to play. It just doesn't look like a lot and it's rather irritating that you can't play all of them but, eventually, you get used to all of these things and the game really is fun. I would say while the other game was good for smaller children, this one should be for slightly older (maybe 8 and over) because of all of the changes and card usage, etc. Give it a try, it is fun, like I said, once you get used to everything. Good luck :)

Best Deals for Fuzion Frenzy 2 - Xbox 360

My friends and I have been big Fuzion Frenzy fans for years. We'd get together and spend hours playing the mini games. They were fun, quick to start and play, and we got a big kick out of the cheesy announcer with his strained, cracked voice screaming out "Fuzion Frenzy!". Yes, we're a silly bunch.

Anyway, my original Xbox died a couple of months ago; the DVD drive stopped reading. I was looking at close to $80 for a replacement (unit + shipping) so I decided to just upgrade to a Xbox 360, and of course buy the sequel to our favorite game, Fuzion Frenzy 2.

I'll say right now, this game, aside from the fact that you're playing mini games, is nothing like the original. The game is non-play animation heavy (lots of long useless segue animations), the structure of the gameplay is different, and there's no Fuzion Frenzy round! To my friends and I, that was the best part of the game! We'd have a blast gathering orbs (from the game field or by stealing them from each other) and avoiding each other and the play field hazards.

Though I expected the mini games to be different in this release, I didn't expect them to be quite so varied in visual and play complexity. Some are very busy visually and require use of both thumbsticks and buttons, where others are visually boring and require button use only. In some ways this parallels the original version, however the levels were never so busy as to detract attention from what you were doing as they are in Fuzion Frenzy 2.

To give an idea of loss of game play in Fuzion Frenzy 2, my friends and I would usually play a 6-stage set of mini games inside a half hour. However, in Fuzion Frenzy 2 we gave up one game into the second round of mini games after 45 minutes. Yes, that much useless animation was added between mini games.

What used to be a fun, mindless party game has now become a more involved, needlessly bloated game that is sure to cause you and your friends to become disinterested in playing it as the game sluggishly moves from one mini game to the next. Aside from better graphics, they really missed the point with this sequel. I definitely did not get my money's worth with this purchase.

Honest reviews on Fuzion Frenzy 2 - Xbox 360

I loved the first game. This one, not so much. Some of the games are mildly entertaining but the presenation and mechanics ruin it. The cards are lame and can ruin even the best player..

but nothing drags the experience down like the "announcer". He simply won't shut up! To be honest after about 30 minutes my friends and I turned this game off and popped the orignal in never to play FF2 again. If they had a game where you got to smack around the announcer for points I might have given this game another star but...

I have been waiting for this game for months. I loved Fuzion Frenzy on XBox and couldn't wait to see the nex-gen version. I bought this game on its release date and wish I would have waited for a used copy. First and foremost, why did they remove "Fuzion Frenzy" from the game? That was the best part of the game, risking your points and stealing your opponents. Second, the announcer is extremely annoying and his quips are repetitive to the point of hurting the game. Also, how hard is it to announce the winning players name. Player 1 wins the tournament, this is nex-gen and the game can't announce the character. If you loved Fuzion Frenzy 1, you might be disappointed in this "upgrade." I sure was.

Twisted Metal (2012) is based on a great franchise with excellent core gameplay. However, this newest release tries to apply an assortment of mode variations (taken from FPS and racing games) with questionable results.

Instead of being able to choose from a macabre cast of characters (as in past titles) you find yourself tied to (3) players: Sweettooth, Mr.Grimm, and Dollface (which are unlocked in that order). Each character has (3) 2-3 min movies that blend live-action and CGI to great effect, even though the middle cinematic is partially relegated to flashbacks from the original video.

Combat and vehicle handling are tight. Weapons are varied and mostly balanced, and the helicopter Talon is actually pretty fun to use. As a result, online play can be enjoyable if you select the right matches and modes. However, in an attempt to add variety, the modes too often stray from what is fun.

Once vehicles have been unlocked by a character's gang they can be used during other matches. It seems kind of odd to use Sweettooth on Mr.Grimm's motorcycle, or to drive Shadow with Dollface but that's what you'll find. (Axel is only playable as DLC). The good part is that you can use your favorite car in almost every level. However, the PROBLEM is that the new level designs almost force you to select certain cars to proceed in single player or be competitive online.

Ultimately, you end up choosing what works best for certain scenarios and less of who you would LIKE to play as. Twisted Metal was always a car combat game built around single elimination death matches. The new game changes that, and not necessarily for the better. On the rooftops there will be an inordinate number of people using the helicopter Talon.

Likewise, in checkpoint races everyone will choose Kamikaze or Crimson Fury (paint variations of the fastest vehicle). Here you must beat your opponents to certain destinations without missing too many gates. The problem is that this is NOT Mario Kart, or Blur where weapons will knock people off the track. In those games, any vehicle has a CHANCE to win. In this game Crimson Fury or Kamikaze will ALWAYS win. Unless you choose one or the other, you have absolutely no chance of winning. Missles and even special moves (with the exception of the magnet) will never knock the cars off of their path. In addition, going through checkpoints replenishes health.

Cage Matches force you to do battle in certain sections of a level surrounded by lighted green grids. If you stay outside the grid for too long, you take damage. The problem is that vehicles with less health/shields will usually die if you are not concentrating on making your way back into the "cage" at EVERY given moment. Less shields = more damage = death if you get lost enroute. I finally beat these levels with Mr. Grimm, but only because his special move does an insane amount of damage once you charge it up (160) and I killed each car with two direct hits and no misses. This does NOT work online with skilled players. Most people end up selecting the same tougher vehicles.

Other levels have Juggernaut trucks that endlessly respawn enemies. You must either destroy them and all the other vehicles on the map, or continue killing cars until you have reached a quota. This is more frustrating than fun, since it offers little opportunity to search levels for new weapons or ammo. Instead, you must destroy everything as quickly as possible and hope your vehicle spawns in a good location.

Throughout the 18 levels or so of single player there are only 2-3 REAL deathmatch battles. Ultimately this is where I feel most disappointed. Twisted Metal is NOT a FPS. Capture the flag (with gang leaders you return to a missle launcher), races, and cage matches really do not do the game mechanics justice. Combine that with a limited number of characters and cinematics, and I feel somewhat let down.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OVERALL:

So, all in all the core mechanics are still great. Graphics have low textures, but are still manageable. The 9 cinematics are well done (although more would have been welcome), and the helicopter is a decent addition to gameplay.

Yet aside from VERY SPECIFIC online modes, a lot of this game just isn't as fun as previous entries. The bottom line is that most of the new modes do not work in context. I wish this had been a game that played to the strengths of the series without trying to revolutionize the core gameplay.

Twisted Metal is probably still a game worth buying, but I ABSOLUTELY recommend waiting until the price goes below $30.

7.5/10

Mmkay, how to start... First off, don't hate the messenger! o_o This review is purely opinionated and should be taken as such. I'm the kind of gamer that's in it for the story and single player experience, thus I'm most likely not going to touch upon Online play. Sorry peeps. :( Plus, I'm doing this for the casual gamers out there, the ones who play for mindless fun, want a new game, and aren't hardcore 50+ hour gamers. If you're on the fence, I'm writing this for you! :) With that said, lets roll!

I really liked the game as a whole. Why? I'm glad you asked! :3 The graphics are were very nice! Very few levels to play, but they were huge! The cars are well made. The graphics don't go as far as KZ 2 or 3, but there is vast improvement since the release of TM: Black!

My moment of disappointment... Yes, it is true as other reviewers mentioned. There are only 3 characters who have a story in the campaign. The way it works is the cars that have different abilities, not the driver. So much for character individuality :(

I could go on about what other reviewers mentioned, but what I really want to put emphasis on is gameplay! I'm surprised people mention so little of it. If you wanna hear about characters and story, many others have written such. >_>

Ok, let me say that I'm am an avid gamer and I enjoy various genres and challenges! I can comfortably say I'm not the best gamer ever, but I'm pretty good (I'm not boasting, I swear!). o_o So now let me place the warning here:

CASUAL GAMERS BEWARE!!! lol

Having played the campaign mode on Normal difficulty, I'll admit, it was tough! O_O There are 3 difficulty levels, (Normal, Hard, Twisted). That's 3 difficulties of kicking player butt! D:

On top of a tricky button configuration, there is a LOT going on... When you play this game, you'll be dodging bullets and missiles, trying to aim a chargeable weapon, AND trying to maneuver important obstacles! This isn't a simple game, by no means! This game WILL in fact test your dexterity!

Something else to consider is your patience as a gamer! Personally, I can put up with a lot, but there were times where I became VERY frustrated! In the campaign, it will feel as if you (the player) are public enemy #1 at all times. The AI rarely fights each other, keep this in mind! ._. This is especially apparent when you fight a mini boss called the Juggernaut. It's a semi that has increased armor, has potent firepower, and spits out a new opponent to fight every so often if you don't beat him fast enough. When this mini boss gets a twin to help, and other enemy drivers are trying to kill you, it becomes one Hell of a fight... Then they make you fight 2 of them with badass upgrades further into the campaign... I nearly cried when I got to that stage... T-T

The races (yes, TM has races, crazy, I know :P...) can be tricky to maneuver when people are tossing your vehicle around with various explosions and ramming. They were fun, don't get me wrong, but in those moments of cheap shots, I was ready to use words that would stupefy an entire nunnery for generations to come! o_O

Oh I must absolutely mention the Electric Cage matches -.-

In a level, there will be a barrier that changes positions. Think of "capture the zone" type of gameplay. You have to fight in this barrier. If you stay outside the barrier for too long, health depletes. Now the challenge is trying to race to the next location, and often the AI would cheap shot me by freezing my vehicle (a special move that can be done) in place.

At the end of it all, I will say that this game made me work for that victory, lol! I personally appreciate that, but I also understand some gamers out there don't want an uphill battle, but in contrast seek mindless, casual fun. Just know that playing the campaign will be a challenge! :3

To conclude, my recommendation on buying this game, especially if you're the casual type, is to wait. I don't confidently think it's worth a $60 experience. BUT I will say I'm so happy I pre-ordered this, because Amazon had an offer to upgrade to the Limited Edition version, which came with a Redeem code that gives you a downloadable version of the PS2's Twisted Metal Black for free! I loved Black, so that was quite a bonus! The more skillful gamers out there will have a lot of fun with this game, but everyone else should know that there will be a struggle. I'd almost say you'll want to have the attitude of, "This is meant to be more challenge than entertainment". Definitely rent or borrow from a friend first, because the only way to know for sure how you'll like it is to play it personally! Other than that, I wish all of you happy gaming, good luck, and thank you so much for taking the time to read my review! :D

P.S. I'm so freaking sorry it's a long review, I was caught up in being informative! D:

Best Deals for Twisted Metal

PROS

The visual of this game is better than I expected. Environments and cars look pretty good.

Insane multiplayer mode, this game has probably one of the most exciting multiplayer modes.

I really could give this game 4.5 just because of the greatness of the multiplayer mode.

Sound effect and Soundtracks are just great, fits really well to the game(and i love More human than human by Rob Zombie)

Pretty dope campaign mode cutscenes

Huge maps and variety of weapons and vehicles.(which proly makes up for the lack of characters)

MP server is fixed!!!!

.

.

CONS

To be honest, Campaign story does not really live up to my expectations. I was expecting something close to TM Black.

Balance issues, especially Mr. Grimm's bike, it seems that there is really no point of choosing Mr. Grimm's bike, because you will die so quickly.

Little bit of Camera angle issues..

.

.

To be honest, i thought this game was going to be another overhyped disaster like the Brink

but Twisted Metal PS3 is actually a great game and it was definitely worth preordering.

I would give it 4.5 stars out of 5

Honest reviews on Twisted Metal

Twisted Metal does it again. I'm not gonna go ahead and spoil the good stuff, but this game is crazy. And of course twisted... Graphics are good, storyline and gameplay is awesome. If you've played the previous TMs, you'll see what I'm talking about ;].

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Twisted Metal

Like many others, I've been a long time fan since 1995. This is without a doubt the best Twisted Metal game ever made, but there are alot of issues that slightly disappointed me.

After already finishing story mode, I can say it is probably the most disappointing thing of all. The live action cut scenes are done very well, but the stories just aren't as interesting as I hoped they would be. Twisted Metal Black remains the highlight of the series as far as story telling goes. In Black we witnessed the depressing tale of Dollface, a terrifying realistic look at Mr. Grimm, and found out why Sweet Tooth's head remains in flames at all times. I was hoping for a story line with only 3 drivers to at least give an in depth look at these characters and see what really makes them tick. It doesn't even try to explain why Sweet Tooth has a flaming head. In one scene he's a normal guy, the next his head is on fire when he puts the mask on. What? Having such a quick shift with no explanation is no better than Twisted Metal 4's opening movie. Come on guys.

It's just disappointing in general not having all the unique drivers the series is known for. It was so much fun to go through with different characters to see their motivations and fate after winning the tournament. It added alot of replay value to the games, and I really do miss that aspect. Even though we have many familiar vehicles and special weapons making a return, there's just something strange about Mr. Grimm driving the iconic clown's ice cream truck or seeing Dollface fitted into Axel's killing machine. Another thing I really don't care for are the races. You race through checkpoints around large maps while blasting each other and trying not to fall off cliffs or rooftops. This can become very irritating, especially due to the fact that if you miss a certain amount of checkpoints you self destruct. Also, some of the boss fights are a little cheap, but they are epic encounters to say the least. These are gripes from a long time fan, but I just felt I had to address them.

In the long run, it's all about the gameplay and amazing multiplayer. Offline or online this game is so much fun. Fluid controls, dozens of levels, and tons of awesome vehicles make this game the best in the series by far. Co-op is as fun as ever, and being able to hop online with a friend in split screen is a blast. Custom paint jobs for all the cars is a nice little addition as well, plus a nice selection of different side arms like shotguns, semi-autos, and even magnums. I don't regret buying this game at all, and I'm so happy it's finally made a comeback. If you have never played a game in the series before, this is the place to start.

Waiting for this to finally be available after several delays, got it delivered today.

Opened the box and was impressed with how the wheel looked...however it does feel pretty flimsy. Has some nice rubberized grips and the shift paddles are metal and have a nice chunky clunk when you shift them. The pedals and base are a little awkward...unless you have a lot of weight resting on the pad they tend to lift off the ground under heavy brake or accelerator application. The clamping mechanism works pretty well, it stayed securely attached to my table for the 10 minutes I could stomach using it.

In terms of actually in-game use, I'm incredibly dissapointed. I guess part of it is my fault...I knew this wheel had no ForceFeedback but I assumed no one would build a controller without rumble. In the first few moments I realized I shouldn't have assumed this. There is ZERO feedback from games. If you play Forza 4 or F1 2011 in simulation mode, you know how critical it is to have feedback from the tires even if there's no official "Force Feedback". I found myself actually being significantly slower than I am with a regular controller, which is a pretty sad statement. Force Feedback adds a lot of cost to a unit, but for the gains in playability vs cost I can't understand why this doesn't have a rumble feature.

Another huge drawback is the motion of the wheel itself. It has some kind of spring or elastic material that increases tension as you increase steering angle. Right around the middle there is probably a 30 degree "dead zone" where the wheel just effortlessly floats back and forth. Trying to keep a car stable going down the straight at Silverstone on approach to Stowe is essentially impossible...approaches to most corners end up getting you unstable in braking and ruin your turn in. Incredibly frustrating.

If you play Forza or F1 in arcade mode, you'll probably have fun...same with the more arcade-y games like Test Drive/ NFS / etc. If you enjoy the more simulation style games stay far, far away.

Many people are talking bad about this, but I can see no reason for it. Yes, there is a 10 degree or so area in the middle of the turning radius, but I stopped noticing that within less than an hour. After that this has been pure fun.

Keep in mind you can not play with this wheel in your lap. You have to have a stand for this. I built a cheap stand from PVC and haven't looked back. I picked this up for Forza 4 and could not be happier for the money.

That is where the problems come in for most people. This is much easier to buy than a unit for clutch and shifter, force feedback, and full turning tension. It is unfair to hope for this wheel to do all the things for the $300 plus wheels do. For the money you simply can not beat this steering wheel. It could be better, but it could cost twice what it does too.

I don't understand why this wheel generally has such a bad rap. I've used it for Forza 4 and Forza Horizon and it made both games a lot of fun. There may be a "dead zone" in the middle where there's no tension but so do real cars, and if you use the cockpit view you can see that movements in the dead zone are still registered exactly as you do them. For the price it's made out of some pretty nice materials and looks more like a big-boy toy than a childs plaything, basically you don't feel the need to hide it when guests are over. The only complaint I have is that the pedal base can lift up in the back when switching from gas to brake, but eventually you don't even notice it.

Just make sure you push the pedals against a wall so they wont move and affix the wheel to a steady surface because the tension at the ends is pretty formidable. Using it in conjunction with a desk and office chair or a low table and a lounge-style chair has been the optimal set up for me.

I have come into contact with 4 of these wheels. Two of them my friend has and two of them I have owned. I got my first of the two wheels on christmas and was really pleased with how it worked... at first. The first thing you notice when using this wheel is that it has about 10-15 degrees in the middle where the wheel can free float. This makes it really hard to straighten yourself out while racing. Secondly, within 2 hours of total play time with this, the first one broke. I was not harsh with it at all but the buttons on the start-stop selector stopped working. Upset and distraught, I sent it back for a replacement. The second one I got broke within a few days. The paddle shifters stopped working and the D-pad (start/stop selector) stopped working too. I am now sending it back and I do not plan on getting another. ON THE OTHER HANDmy friend who has two of them, has had them for a while now and he hasn't experienced any terrible problems with his. Despite the free floating he likes them a lot.

I would not recommend these because it's just a seriously unreliable investment.

It is fun while it lasts but chances are, it won't last very long.

If you do buy, you better hope you get very lucky!!

I'm a huge Guitar Hero fan. The design of this product is fantastic. But the responsiveness is where it sucks.

Let me explain why. It will work great for people on Easy and Medium. But when it comes to Hard and Expert, it will not be very willing to cooperate. The guitar uses a 2.4Ghz wireless USB dongle instead of the PS3's built-in Bluetooth (Great, I have to search for it if I lose it). If you have to strum up and down on fast sections, it will not register some of the notes. I can get over 600,000 points on Through the Fire and Flames on Expert on the Wii version of this game, but I can get only around 400,000 with the PS3 version using this guitar (Yes, I'm serious, I'm an expert player). It always doesn't register a note on the Intro during my 2-hand tapping and I have strum again to get back on the hammer-on and pull-off path. When I have to strum up and down on fast sections, it won't register some of the notes. (Wow, I wonder why this is getting so many 5 star reviews.)

If you plan to play on Easy and Medium the whole time, this guitar is ok. But if you plan to play on Hard or Expert, then I recommend finding a different guitar.

I have the GHWT kit and needed an extra axe. I picked up the Legends of Rock Slash les paul double guitar/game set.

The guitar is shorter than the stock GH guitar so playing it while sitting is painful because its too short for an average sized adult. It feels like your playing a child's toy.

The action is rough and laggy due to the sloppiness in the strum bar. The stock GH-WT guitar is beautiful compared to this guitar with the slider on the neck and the crisp quiet strum bar that is so much more responsive and quick to recover during fast strumming.

I really thought this product would be of better quality. With the Gibson name on the head I guessed Gibson quality would shine throughout, I was sad to learn this was not the case.

I'll be selling both les pauls on ebay and looking for a new guitar.

It took Red Octane to much time to get their act together and sell an unbundled Les Paul Guitar controller but they finally did. Guitar works great and I have not noticed any interference between the two guitars when playing multi-player. The addition of a second guitar makes this game even more fun.

Amazon also sells this controller $10 cheaper than if you buy it directly from Red Octane. The order process through Amazon was also outstanding. I paid for two day shipping and got the controller one day after placing the order. Great work Amazon and better late than never Red Octane!

I have purchased this guitar and it arrived fast. But the blue button was not working, and shortly after the yellow one didn't as well. Thank God Amazon has an awesome return policy but the guitar is total crap! You can buy standard guitar hero controller or purchase one that is not wireless.

Final Fantasy VIII

This is where it begins. Watch closely, people. If you are wise, you are (or will be) playing a game that trancends almost every idea to grace the human mind on creating a videogame masterpiece. Final Fantasy VIII is as such a classic, that if possible, should be displayed in the most important museums in the world. I'm pretty sure most reviewers 'greatly' disagree with me, but then isn't everyone entitled to share their opinion? I respect theirs as I expect mine will be.

What I cannot fathom are the intensely negative reviews coming from the people! How can a game of such caliber, genius, beauty and artisty be seen as "the worst FF ever...and so on"? I simply don't comprehend. Ive heard others like "I like all FF games, 'cept 8", or "It just doesn't belong in the Squaresoft catalogue....". Why? Upon critical analysis, I think it's because people fear change. It's part of human nature. If you adapt to something, why would you want it to change?

I have almost always noticed that some of the 'hardcore fans' proclaim that Square's old style is what should have been on this game that they miss the old style. NONSENSE! Squaresoft wanted to do something different, temporarily. They wanted to exercise their minds a bit to stray away from the typical RPG standards. Even possibilities of 'harsh criticism' wasn't going to stop them.....they were going to experiment. You see, even though we have an inner instinct to fear change, the human will to experiment and 'move on' conquers all (look at where experimentation has gotten us: our technology is advancing). There is no such thing as 'the way things (RPGs) ought to be'. There's nothing wrong with prefering things to remain the same, but at least, people should keep their right to experiment.

You can actually see where Squaresoft wants to take their work. FF8 houses the most significant changes ever to grace the Final Fantasy series so far. Everything from the different "Junction" system, to the "realism" of the characters (not just the models, but also the humanism), to the "science fiction-themed" dramatic love story, is proof of things yet to come. Where FFIX represents all Final Fantasy as a whole by blending the old and new Squaresoft ideas, FFVIII begins a revolution. The future of Final Fantasy (as has been presented in FFX) is hinted in FFVIII.

To sum up, FFVIII is a marvel to behold. Don't dismiss this game because of negative reviews, as I did. If you do want to go by the reviews, take into consideration that some of them are written by hardcore fans who don't appreciate change....who want the same redundant ideas in their videogames. Don't let them fool you. Take it from someone who appreciates good art, and knows a good videogame when he sees one. I am usually a harsh critic when it comes to most things....and I truly do mean it when I say this game gets 5 stars. A classic!

As a girl obsessed with the likes of Zelda: The Ocarina Of Time, I was completely unfamiliar with turn based RPGs. When I recieved Final Fantasy 7 and 8 for Christmas, I naturally tried 7 first. I was horrified when I saw that you were unable to run around in a free roaming enviornment hacking and slashing at your leisure. Waiting my turn to deliver one blow was not my idea of a good time. Disgusted, I removed the game and inserted FF8. I was floored by the opening cinema. When the game started, I was confused by all the new terms. SeeD? Balamb Gatrden? Junction system? What the hell? But something compelled me to push onward. I was instantly hooked on the characters, which to me are much more appealing than the lego characters of the previous Final Fantasy games.

You play as the quiet lone wolf, 17 year old Squall Leonheart, a member of a group of mercenaries for hire known as SeeD. SeeDs reside in academys known as Gardens. When an evil sorceress gains the trust of President Deling and the people of Galbadia, Squall along with fellow SeeDs the perky Selphie Tilmitt, the loudmouthed Zell Dincht, the ladies' man Irvine, and the recently fired 18 year old instructer Quistis Trepe set out to assasinate her. Along the way, the lively and beautiful Rinoa Heartilly, a member of a resistance faction known as The Forest Owls teams up with them. Along the way, she struggles to bring down Squall's icy exterior and help him voice his feelings. The plot soon throws many curveballs, eventually bringing forth issues such as romance, possesion, time compression, prison abuse and escape, and traveling into the future.

I will admit that this game is extremely ambitious and has its flaws. The very different reviews serve to prove one thing: it depends wholly on the person whether or not you'll enjoy this game. Some people enjoy the game enough to get by its flaws and appreciate its differences, while others simply don't have the time or patience for it. It depends on your personality. Before buying, you must understand that:

-This is a love story

-The junction system (attatching magic to stats such as strength and HP to raise or lower the stat depending on magic type and quantity) takes a long time to understand and get fully confortable with. No other FF has had a system like this, and you may not like it

-You need to play through FOUR discs and have the time to put in upwards of 70 hours in order to get through everything the game has to offer. Patience is important.

While I am an impatient person who gets put to sleep by other RPGs, I enjoyed Final Fantasy 8 a lot. The characters meant something to me because they were realistic looking and typical teens rather than lego people with absent mouths. This is the black sheep of the series, and not everyone will appreciate it. In my case, it will always remain a favorite. For its time, no game was more gorgeous looking and emotional, and no final battle was as long and intense. The stunning ending clocks in at around a half hour. But some people aren't bothered by the long frequent GF summons, and some are extremely bothered by them. I can understand it. As I said, it all depends what kind of person you are.

It's eye opening to turn back the clock and play the old Final Fantasy games in the light of the remarkable production values of FF X. Each game in the series set a standard for console and computer games that has changed the way today's player sees the RPG genre.

I originally played FF8 in the PC version, so I was interested in how the PS2 version would compare. Even with a my leaky memory, my impression is that the PS2 version is a bit solider graphically. And, of course, the use of a game controller makes everything seem smoother, even if it really isn't.

FF8 follows in the classic Final Fantasy mode a team of characters headed by a serious minded leader, with a bunch of slightly wacky, but dedicated companions, take on an evil that seems to keep getting stronger and more capable with each advance of the plot. No villain ever really seems to die, the keep coming back in new and deadlier forms. And then there are the Guardian Forces, who provide all kinds of spectacle for the battles.

This time it is Squall, his fellow SeeDs, and the beautiful Rinoa. The story starts as a revolution, and then the characters discover that events are really being manipulated by a series of sorceresses who want to destroy the world so that they can rule it unchecked (I know that doesn't make any sense). All of this on a giant world make full of monsters convenient for leveling up.

And leveling up is certainly what a Final Fantasy game is about. Various side quests and challenges are provided so that reaching the levels needed to kill the final bosses doesn't become tedious, and an incredibly complex character building system makes sure that everyone's playing experience is different.

FF8 set a standard that is still higher than some games being written for the PS2 today, and managed to accomplish that on a more primitive platform. Graphics and character design are amazing, the plot complex, and the action satisfying. Proving that the best isn't always the newest and the loudest.

Honest reviews on Final Fantasy VIII

There are few series I consider to even be on the same level as the twelve official games in the Final Fantasy legacy, and of those I consider chapter eight to be the undeniable pinnacle. Which, considering its predecessor, the nearly omnipotent fanboy wet dream that was FFVII, says one hell of a lot. This title had every reason to underwhelm, from the groundbreaking success that preceded it (and the enormous shadow of expectations it had cast) to the wildly different path it chose to tread in terms of storyline themes and visual direction... yet it succeeds all the same.

As is the case with any RPG, the best place to start with FFVIII is its storyline. While chapter seven was focused on a maniacal egomaniac and his plans to destroy the world through the use of magic and spirituality alone, chapter eight concerns itself more with the political and technological necessities of performing such a feat. Not quite as exciting material at a glance, but twice as realistic. Sorceress Edea, the main protagonist of the story, sets about on her aspirations by overthrowing the government of the largest military power in the world, brainwashing its citizens through the use of the media, invading and obliterating everyone in her path, and manipulating her underlings to the point where she has their complete support without even expanding upon her motivations. Where the glam and glitter of Cloud and Sephiroth's tale has become legendary, the struggles of Squall and Rinoa against their oppressors feel much more weighty and, god help me, believable.

Likewise, the central characters in and around your party are much more relatable and varied than those in VII. Where Cloud, Tifa and Aerith, the previous leads, were generally one-dimensional and cartoony, spitting incredible dialog despite their shortcomings, VIII's characters each have elaborate personalities, perks, downfalls and tendencies. Though he's initially far less charismatic and appealing than Cloud, his immediate predecessor, Squall is a tremendously complex, well-rounded lead character with an established psychological excuse for his aggrivatingly anti-social nature. The villains are similarly developed, with an equal amount of redeemable qualities tossed in to keep their more prominent negative characteristics in check. You're never faced with a simple, black and white boss fight, as you were in previous chapters... there's always something about the person you're battling that you can relate to. You form such an incredible bond to the characters in your party that the final cinema is a truly emotional experience, one of the most rewarding and worthwhile conclusions I've ever experienced in gaming.

Where every previous chapter in the Final Fantasy story had basically opened with the lead characters already trained and experienced in their professions, FF8 is the first to tell the story of how these characters were first educated as super-soldiers, which natural reservations they had with their chosen role, and just how awkward their first steps as pros really were. In a way, this story is half Platoon and half Breakfast Club. The characters form a bond under extreme circumstances, both with each other and with the player, and develop into skilled fighters before they're even comfortable talking openly about their feelings.

Visually, FF8 was and still is an unbelievable sight. The photorealistic characters, settings and effects all but set the stage for the picturesque beauty of Final Fantasy X, the cutscenes remain an almost speechless affair, and the character designs and overall visual theme of the game itself are just breathtaking. This is a game I'd die to see simply reproduced in high definition at some point in the near future, as it pushed the old PSone above and beyond the limits of its hardware. The cinemas are occasionally marred by some artifacts caused by the necessary compression to fit this onto four discs, and the in-game visuals just scream for the power to deliver what they're so obviously capable of. The visual accomplishments of this game are just staggering, and the final cinematic caught me off-guard yet again by just blowing away the modern competition. This game was produced in 1999, and for its opening and closing cutscenes to tear apart their modern contemporaries more than a half decade later should say more than a few things about how awe-inspiring these graphics truly are.

And, equally complimenting the humongous strides in the visual department is what I'd loudly proclaim to be the best soundtrack of the series. As was becoming the norm by this point, each character, vehicle, town and dungeon has its own accompanying theme song, but never before had the tunes been so closely intertwined and related as they are here. The softly plucked strings of the Balamb Garden, your base of operations for the majority of the game, are touched upon and mentioned throughout nearly the entire soundtrack, bringing the entire experience full-circle and tethering it to what's quickly identified by both story and player alike as your home. Even the overly sappy J-Pop love ballad, "Eyes on You," which is possibly one of the more annoying things I've ever heard on its own, fits in amazingly when surrounded by the rest of this impressive score. Nobuo Uematsu has never produced finer, nor more immediately recognizable and emotional work.

No matter what I say, I can never feel as though I'm doing this game justice. It's a masterwork, the greatest end product to ever emerge from the renowned studios of Squaresoft. Its concentration on the organization, application and implementation of magic into each character's physical attributes appealed to the anal-retentive librarian in me, while the epic storyline, unimaginably cool cutscenes and untouchable characters swept me off my feet. I have my doubts about Square's ability to recapture this past glory, considering the slow downward slope they've presented with each new chapter of the Final Fantasy series since the turn of the millennium, but that can't drag down my utter devotion to the perfection of this title.

I hate to admit it, but I used to think Final Fantasy was just a hack-and-slash series. I finally did some research into the series, and was amazed by what I read about FF8. I went out and bought a copy right away to see what it had to offer.

I was extremely impressed. Usually games offer something to adults, or to kids, but rarely do they get a combination that intrigues both. This has a training system that makes you figure out which kind of fighter you wish to be, what you want to earn points towards, how you want to talk to people, and which of your friends make the best allies against a certain situation.

In addition, an embedded card game series is quite complex, almost chess like. Often we were hard pressed to beat some of their masters, but winning the games brought great advantages going forward.

The combat and movement wasn't arcade like, where you had to hit the joystick just right in Spot A to hit the enemy in Spot B. It mostly was figuring out the right combination of healing, attacking, and defensive spells to cast to keep your party alive while taking out the enemy. There was little if any blood and gore. The aim of the fights was to outsmart your enemy, not to hack ribbons of flesh off of it.

And did I mention the cinematics? The dance scene in particular stands out in my mind as completely amazing. I would restart there on purpose to see the detail they put into the movements. If you love good animation, you could buy the game just to go from scene to scene.

If you enjoy role playing and graphic adventure games at all, I'd highly recommend this one. It does truly have something for everyone.

UPDATE: A small patch came in today, and the motion controls seem somewhat better, and difficulty appears somewhat tweaked.. esp. in boxing. There may be other fixes, but I'll up from 2-3 stars.

It seems that much like with the Wii launch some developers have made some inferior games to cash in. I would place Motionsports in this category.

There are some fun games in here so it's not a complete disaster.

On the good side -

Skiing

Equestrian

Hanggliding

Football

are all decent although football and equestrian are almost "turn based" (seems as this was a design decision not a function of the hardware) as you must perform your move well before the motion actually happens which is odd since Skiing and hanggliding are both extremely responsive.

On the diaster/broken mechanics side I would place Boxing and Soccer. Boxing difficulty seems ridiculous. You can connect with many punches on just the second boxer after the "tutorial" boxer and if he hits you a couple of times you're going down. In soccer the setup for kicking the ball pretty much breaks the gameplay as it is extremely difficult to tell where exactly on your floor you need to kick. It does say "shoot" but only for a very brief moment.

There is also no online multiplayer (I believe there is in Microsoft sports) so the game gets a negative there.

Also, there is no broader game.. would be nice if they could have included some sort of party game setup so the minigames don't feel so detached.

Do not buy this game. I just got the Kinect and wanted to try a sports title.. unfortunately I bought this game and was very disappointed! If you finish any stage in the game you have to start over just to try and continue (how dumb is that ubisoft?)

Do yourself a favor and spend your money on another title related to sports.

This game is not as much fun as it looks. It is not easy for the kids and the sensor is odd on it. I liked the hang gliding, but that is about it.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for MotionSports: Play For Real

This game was very frustrating at first. There two things I found you have to do with this game:

1. It does not work in the Kinect good zone. You have to have more space. It was cutting off my feet until I moved the couch and didn't respond to most jumps.

2. You have to actually watch the demos and do exactly as shown in the demo. For example in the football crouch you have to actually put your hands on the ground.

So the controls in this one are not very intuitive on this game. It definitely needs to be more forgiving. I don't like that it forces you to unlock everything. You have to go through these lame scenarios to get to the ones that are actually worthwhile. This game really seems like they mostly built half a game, or may be a quarter of a game. Like some demos they through together.

It's still somewhat fun and a good workout, but probably best to spend your money on something else.

Please ignore the reviewer that stated (repeatedly) that "this game is just like GTA IV... If you hated that you will definitely hate this." That could not be further from the truth!!

Red Dead Redemption is Rockstar's newest sandbox game, and it is a very good change up on the already popular GTA series. Let me start off by saying I have always been a huge fan of GTA games... until GTA IV. Tried and tried to play it, just could not get into it. Everything about it was wrong for me, and I know a lot of others felt the same. Sure RDR is very similar to GTA IV, yet everything about it is so much better.

Graphics are amazing, game play is easy to pick up and hard to put down, shooting system is improved, horse riding is intuitive, and hunting is a blast, just to name a few. This is GTA on steroids. Don't get me wrong, the huge cities and fancy sports cars were a ton of fun, but this is so much better. Set in the early 20th century, Red Dead Redemption takes place in the ever changing Wild West. Dusty old towns, bustling saloons, and family ranches are presented with such accuracy and clarity, you'd think you are back in the old west yourself!

Red Dead Redemption's scale is beyond HUGE!! The Wild West has never looked so good. There's a fullness to the sunsets that's so breathtaking you almost forget about the task at hand. The characters play a role nearly as big as the landscape, if not more. The dialog is smooth and witty, and the hometown feel of McFarlanes ranch only adds to the beauty.

There are so many side missions and quests, it's tough to get bored. From helping a stranded women on the side of the road, to tracking and shooting trophy bucks, there is truly something for everyone. Don't feel like shooting or riding around on your horse? Play some cards! Drink a shot!

Your thinking what I'm thinking aren't you? GTA on horses. Yes, but as you play on through the game you will quickly realize it is so much more than that. It's a nice change up in the video game world, and quite a surprise in the western genre.

Now I know this was a very short, somewhat random review, but I hope it provided enough insight to help you decide on the purchase.

***********UPDATE**********

I have gotten a few comments about my review. Some feeling that I have not experienced all the game has to offer, and should wait until I'm further along and write a detailed review. My review was an attempt to give a quick firsthand look, and to knock dead a few misconceptions. I believe all first time buyers need an initial review to help them decide to buy it or not. The game experience should be left up to each individual.

I'll admit, I had some reservations about Red Dead Redemption. The studio that released it (Rockstar) hadn't done too much to distinguish it from GTA with horses. Within the first 2 hours, however, I was blown away. The story starts with our hero John Marston attempting to track down his former gang leader Bill Williamson and bring him to justice. After a short cut scene, he's shot and left for dead. The game opens up after some dialogue and tutorials, leaving you to your devices in 1912's Texas and Mexico. The first thing you'll notice is the beautiful visuals. Everything has an incredible amount of detail and draw distance, and the character models animate wonderfully. Watching the sunset on horseback is a truly visceral video game experience, and won't soon be forgotten. Combat works in a very fun, gritty way. You have a large variety of period weapons to deal the bad guys (or good guys). Quests can appear by talking to certain NPCs essential to the story. They can also appear at random, forcing you to act quickly or watch an innocent die. What really surprised me was how well the minigames were made. Poker could be sold as a separate game in of itself, with AI "tells" and bluffing. Five-finger-fillet is pretty funny to watch if you make a blunder. Horseshoes and bar fights provide some enjoyable distractions. You can waltz over to a local movie theater and watch some very funny silent films that convey the mindset of the times. Red Dead Redemption has the most believable open world I've ever played, with every feature one would expect. The atmosphere is simply unmatched in terms of immersion and realism. I haven't even mentioned multiplayer yet. RDR supports up to 16 players over Xbox Live or PSN for full-on gunfights and skirmishes. Game types can range from free-for-alls to CTF-structured team based modes. There is also a separate mode called "Free Roam" that lets you and your friends form a posse and explore the entire single player map. You can slaughter gangs, hunt down wild game, and duke it out with other posses over an enormous map. There's a fully featured ranking system that tracks your progress throughout your online exploits. Multiplayer should keep you hooked for weeks on end as you shoot up the West. Overall, Read Dead Redemption is an incredibly good game that can't be missed. Pretty much everything is perfectly polished and consistent, and you'll find yourself loving the Wild West's final days. Go buy it now.

PROS

+ Awesome, deep combat

+ Breathtaking visuals

+ Addictive multiplayer

+ Strong voice acting and writing

+ Best open world in a video game to date

Cons

Occasional animation glitches

Some network problems, especially in Free Roam

Could be a little more difficult

Not many games am I willing to shell out 50 bucks to buy. I decided to go against my better judgement, and buy it because it had a pretty good reputation . . .

IT ROCKS!!

I was a little nervous about it being in the old west because that wasn't something that sounded that interesting for a videogame. Believe me, I take it all back. It only takes 10-15 minutes from when you start until you're sucked in for good.

Not gonna lie: I'm not the best when it comes to some video games, and I'll admit that I may agree with others: The game can be a bit easy at times (Just warning those hardcore gamers who may say "Psh, way too easy!"). But there are so many things to do, and they are all so much fun thing to do that, in my opinion, who cares if it's a little easy.

Clearing up some issues I read from others:

Someone said that "It takes forevor to ride from town to town". Yes, this may sometimes be true, but you can hire a stagecoach for a small fee, OR set up camp in the wilderness and say "Travel to ________" for FREE! I prefer to ride from town to town because you may stumble into a group of deer you can hunt for money to purchase a new weapon or horse, or you may find an opportunity to help strangers to gain Fame and/or Honor.

Things to do:

Go on main missions, hunt, become a bounty hunter to bring back criminals (Dead or Alive! The choice is yours!), go on stranger side missions, help those in need on your way from town to town, Patrol the MacFarlane Ranch at night to stop any cattle thiefs/rustlers, be a cowboy (herd cattle), play a game of horseshoes/blackjack/poker/mumblypeg, go to the saloon for a drink (and walk out so drunk you can't stop falling), jump on a moving train and kill the "driver", look for treasure, clear out a gang headquarter, JUST PLAIN EXPLORE!! Over time you'll find what side hobbies you like, and do them to take a break from the storyline. I, personally, like to do a main mission or two, then do some stuff on the side to keep things different.

1 thing that is truly great: The scenery. Nothing beats riding around during sunrise or sunset when the sky is a mixture of purple, orange, and red. It's just great.

I really hope this review helped you make a decision about whether or not you'll purchase the game. Make sure you click yes if it did. ;) Happy travels

Graphics9.5 Excellent details and textures, everything from the wool jackets, to the animal pelts you collect is highly detailed and gorgeous in HD. I did have a few hiccups and a freeze up during a cut scene, it happened one time, and could very well be my Xbox.

Sound10 The surround sound is top notch in Red Dead Revolver, from a steam engine barreling down the tracks, a cougar growling from the bushes, to the small things like birds chirping and wind blowing...the sound envelops you and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Gameplay10 Excellent control setup (GTA vets will be right at home) the only thing that took a bit of getting used to was riding a horse, its not bad, just a bit different than a car in terms of handling. Plenty of story/mission hours to waste away, followed by double the hours you'll spend just exploring and causing havoc (or helping the kind settlers).

Re-playability-9 Just going home and being able to run around the Wild West is enough for me, Rockstar included a solid story, but you can make your own as you go, helping damsels in distress, or massacring an entire settlement, its all up to you. This is gonna be a great game for a bit of relaxation...or some stress relief.

Multi-player9.5 I only played a bit of MP, since the rest of my "posse" hadn't received the game yet (or were struggling to get one at the store) The premise seems really interesting though, and the game of death match I played was a real nice change from the normal FPS death matches I've been playing lately. The open world MP game has always been something I wanted to see more of, and I'm sure once this game gets into more peoples hands its gonna be a real treat for the gaming world.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series since it had a top down view, so when this was announced by Rockstar I was pretty interested.

The first thing I must say is Rockstar has really outdone themselves, this game takes GTA to the next level, while taking it back a hundred years on the time line. The first thing you notice is the vast area you get to call "home". The colors and sand blowing and swirling is truly beautiful eye candy. I hate to compare this game to GTA, but the undertones are all there.

I don't wanna share any of the story, and honestly that's icing on the cake for this game. The graphics are simply gorgeous, from the leather straps, and jackets, to the grizzly beards on the characters...all very well done. One thing I must say is not being in the big city setting is a breath of fresh air, no car horns blaring, police sirens at every corner, just the wide open Western range...at times I thought I could taste the fresh air.

As far as game play goes, its hard to beat. You can do anything, and I mean anything (*Ill give a example at the end of this) The stores and shops are fantastic, and walking into a new town just makes you feel like a real gunslinger! Again I don't wanna get into the story to much, but the voice acting and cut scenes are almost Hollywood movie grade, its always nice when you feel for the characters, and this game does an outstanding job of delving into their history and stories!

As another reviewer said the game takes about 20 hours to play through the main story, however getting 100% completion will take you some extra time. The problem is playing through the game, no matter how hard I tried to go to the next mission, I ended up going way off track, killing a bear, saving a stage coach, or just getting a bunch of horses together to test a dynamite stick on. No matter what path you choose, your in for a surprise...Red Dead Redemption really delivers.

If you haven't picked this gem up yet I would highly suggest it, I said I'd give an example of doing whatever you want and here it is: Find some poor townsfolk, give em a round from your six shooter in the kneecap, hogtie them, drag them behind your horse to the nearest railroad...and leave em on the track, sit back and wait for the train to come through, nothing better to relieve the stress of those long days at work/school.

Red Dead Redemption far exceeds anything you've played before, pick up this game, and I'll see you behind the saloon at high noon!

I heard about Red Dead Redemption just after it was released and was immediately intrigued. I saw here the potential to fix the flaws of GTAIV-the opportunity to take GTAIV and craft from it a more refined experience: a tighter storyline, improved controls, and a more focused world. The Western setting seemed perfect for the task. Not to mention the Western theme is, for some unknown reason, generally unused in video games. (I suspect that will now change.)

In the end, RDR improves on some aspects of the GTAIV formula but falls short on a few other aspects.

The world is much more refined and focused in RDR. Almost all buildings can be entered. NPCs have genuine conversations with one another. In general the world is better. Most impressive is the way the developers simultaneously allow the player to take in the loneliness of the empty deserts while still making the world feel alive and inhabited. This is accomplished by adding in a lot of wildlife (all of which can be hunted; you can even go catch and tame wild horses!), a system that introduces the player to random but dynamic encounters (for instance, you may find while riding along a road in the middle of nowhere that a gang is lynching someone on a nearby tree; you can choose to save the person or move on), and the stranger system (these are NPCs marked with a special icon on the minimap who provide Marston with special tasks to complete--simple, nonessential missions).

The controls are still just as unresponsive as they were in GTAIV. When playing RDR it sometimes feels less like I'm controlling Marston and more like I'm just giving him a nudge in the right direction. That said, combat controls are quite improved--the indoor combat mechanics are now quite functional and significantly better than those of GTAIV. Also, the controls are certainly not bad, and you will master them after a few hours of play. But for me at least the nagging feeling created by the general unresponsiveness has never went away.

GTAIV has a severely flawed save system which caused you to have to often repeat entire missions, including driving to the location (taking many minutes sometimes) and listening to the same dialogue many times. RDR has a much improved save system. You can save at safehouses as always, but you can also put up camp anywhere in the wilderness and save there. Furthermore, missions contain well-placed checkpoints at which you can respawn upon failure.

Now we come to the first of Red Dead Redemption's two great faults: the storyline. Like GTAIV, RDR takes its storyline seriously. Very seriously. There are a LOT of cutscenes in this game, and unlike the dialogues in such games as Mass Effect 2 the cutscenes in RDR aren't interactive. That means that I have higher standards for the narratives they present to me.

GTAIV's plot was certainly nowhere near the perfection of The Godfather, but many of the characters were believable, and the most believable among them stayed around for the whole game, allowing for nontrivial relationships to develop. In this way the story was at least effective enough to justify the numerous cutscenes.

Red Dead Redemption has a decent premise (I'll explicitly mark when spoilers might appear). Marston is a former outlaw who, for reasons unknown, grew a conscience, left his gang, and started a family. In events prior to the game the government threatened to hurt Marston's family unless he agreed to hunt down the members of his former gang.

That's a premise that could be made into a fantastic plot. Unfortunately RDR does relatively little with it. For a very long time essentially nothing will happen in the overall plot. And it won't be until the game's conclusion or "epilogue" that you'll meet the family you're supposed to be saving--far too late for you to develop feelings about them and hence really care about saving them.

You'll meet a lot of characters. Nearly all of them will be ridiculous and extremely abnormal in some way. I actually found it nearly intolerable how every single character in the game was almost a parody, a joke. There are very few humans here--Bonnie is one of them, a girl who saves you at the game's start and helps you recover. Unfortunately, Rockstar tosses Bonnie away after the beginning of the game. This is, in fact, the general pattern in RDR: once a real relationship is established with a character, that character will be eliminated from the game--the character will just disappear from existence.

There will be a few sideplots here and there. Most of them will be as ridiculous as the characters. But the overall plot advances shockingly slowly, if at all. Tension is nonexistent. Character development is nonexistent. And even though the premise I gave you above is printed all over the game's box, it takes the game an astoundingly long time to actually present all that information to the player.

Some minor spoilers follow.

The first half of the game is spent tracking down Bill Williamson. The game will come up with all sorts of ridiculous reasons why you can't just go find him. You'll have to do really ridiculous tasks for really ridiculous characters, and it's even more ridiculous that of all the people in the world only the most ridiculous could help you find Williamson. That's the word needed to summarize this part of the game: ridiculous. When you finally confront Bill Williamson, of course he escapes, but not without throwing a veritable army at you. Once more, ridiculous. You spend half the game trying to kill him, putting up with artificial plot device after artificial plot device, and then you fight through a ridiculous army at his fort... and then he escapes. How satisfying. As I said, it's ridiculous.

Spoilers end now.

Ordinarily the plot of RDR would be perfectly suitable for a video game. But most games don't take their plots as seriously as RDR takes its plot.

The ending, though, is just unacceptable in all mediums. It's completely unnecessary and reminds me of the Fallout 3 ending. It feels like it was tacked on just to make the game feel "serious" and "emotional" and to make up for the total lack of tension throughout the entire game.

The second great flaw of RDR is its system of morality and the illusion of choice. RDR, like GTAIV, has a very thorough system built in to make wrongdoing fun and entertaining. So you've got this vast framework to facilitate all these morally questionable activities. But then the game encourages you left and right, at every juncture, constantly to do what we all know is morally right. You almost universally get more rewards for sparing the lives of enemies than for killing them. Very, very, very few of the missions in the game ever require you to do anything considered wrong in the game world, and when they do they often provide some mechanism to avoid taking a hit to your honor if you don't want it to go down.

After having played RDR, it actually comes off as rather preachy to me. You're placed in a world in which you can do good and bad and yet the game tells you to do good pretty much as often as it can. It seems that when writing the story the writers forgot that this is a video game that should be at least minimally reactive to the player. As it is, you--the player--are absolutely irrelevant to the story.

I don't consider this a great flaw like the previous two, but it's worth mentioning that a vast amount of this game feels automated. The Dead Eye component (read: magical aiming) aims and shoots for you. And unless you have it set to "expert" aiming, to shoot somebody this is all you have to do: look somewhere in their general vicinity; hit the left trigger; the game aims for you; fire with right trigger. If you want a head shot, no problem: after the game aims at their torso for you, just slightly nudge the right thumbstick upwards. It's almost guaranteed.

For a game that seems so obsessed with realism, many missions in RDR will have you think that some of the gangs you're up against could rival the U.S. military in manpower. For instance, when you first transition from the initial area (called New Austin) to Mexico, you'll float on a raft down a river separating the two regions, and I'd wager at least 30 bandits come out of nowhere on the Mexico side to kill you. Of course, using Dead Eye or the left trigger makes it easy: the game aims for you.

Finally, I'd like to comment on something I hear being said about RDR a lot. I've read in many places (and in many reviews here at Amazon) that the game gives the player an unprecedented amount of choice. This is not at all true for several reasons. First, as I said above the game is greatly biased towards what it considers morally right actions. But more importantly missions are all completely linear, straightforward, and have precisely one path for the player to take. In the end, RDR tells you how to play the game and rarely gives you a choice to meaningfully deviate from its recommendation. When you do have a choice, it generally provides greater rewards for taking its preferred path.

As an example of a game that truly does present meaningful choices about how to approach a mission, I offer Deus Ex. But even the Elder Scrolls games (Morrowind, Oblivion) give the player more options for approaching quests than RDR does.

In the end, RDR is a fun game but it flounders in its own seriousness and aspirations.

Xbox One Play and Charge Kit Reviews

Xbox One Play and Charge Kit

Though your Xbox One controller runs on AA batteries and includes one pair of them, it's so much nicer to have the Play and Charge Kit rather than burning through costly AA batteries. Even rechargeable AA batteries aren't as good, they don't last quite as long per discharge, and you have to remove them to recharge them. It's much easier to just plug in the charging cable when your juice is low.

These rechargeable batteries seem a little smaller than the Xbox 360 ones, but worked great all through my Xbox One's launch night. The only very minor downside is it takes a few seconds longer to swap these batteries out than it did to swap out an Xbox 360 battery, but I like the tradeoff of having the Xbox One controller be slimmer and sleeker since there isn't a big battery jutting out the back. The swap time doesn't really matter anyway since you use the cable to recharge it, where on the 360 I usually swapped one out of my Quick Charge kit (Microsoft hasn't yet released a similar product for the Xbox One yet).

The charging cable is sufficiently long to play from my couch (8 feet away from my TV). Took an hour or so for the initial charging to finish from whatever capacity percentage these come from the factory. Don't bother with the third-party junk batteries. While the cable is just a basic micro USB and interchangeable, off-brand rechargeable batteries are rarely worth bothering with for the small difference in price. The cable itself seems pretty high quality too though, it snaps in and has a very solid connection, which I like.

My only complaint isn't about this product, but about the Xbox One design. The single USB port is on the console's left side instead of how the Xbox 360 has two ports on the front. This makes it not reach quite as far, and is also more risky in the event of someone tripping over the cable. Instead of it just yanking out, it might tug the cord in a bad way and damage the cable or the USB port.

I recommend buying the bundle with the controller for a $10 discount though ($75 instead of $60+$25=$85), unless you only ever plan on having one controller I suppose. Amazon is sold out of those at the time of this review, but my local Best Buy and Walmart still had stacks of them, so you may want to try a local store.

Update 2013.11.24: I've gotten at least about 20 hours of on-time without the battery dying since I got my Xbox One. I didn't go until it died before plugging in the cable, but it seems to have about as much life in it as the old Xbox 360 rechargeables. Maybe even a little bit more since all my 360 ones are aging and gradually losing their charge, though this one will probably do the same over time.

Its a tad pricey compared to other 3rd party batteries and cables, but the quality of the kit is worth it. 3rd party kits are notorious for using cheap alternatives and have shorter life spans making this product a no brainer to pick over alternatives.

Packaging was not as expected. Done away with the plastic box you need to cut, now its a small cardboard box. Compact battery, great length of cable with a charging indicator on it to tell when full.

It's a microsoft branded battery pack and cable. Overpriced but reliable, I didn't want to try a 3rd party accessory this early in the life.

Even though the Japanese version is free, I was willing to drop a Lincoln for an official English version. Its a solid fighter, the sprites are well designed and the animation is good. All the text is in English while the voices are still in Japanese. I prefer Japanese voices so that worked out well for me. The game is also pretty hard, even on easy mode (I'm not particularly good at fighting games though. So maybe its just me).

I can also use my Xbox 360 controller with the game, so thats a plus if you don't like using a keyboard (unfortunately I don't have an arcade stick to try and see if that'd work).

I encountered one glitch where my character randomly disappeared off the screen. I don't know why it happened, but it hasn't happened again.

Also, there is no DRM :) Thats always a plus in my book!

I'd say its worth $5, especially considering the obvious lack of good PC fighting games.

The English release was unfortunately watered down and censored... to top it all of they are charging money for that 'service'. The Japanese version of the game was free.

I'd recommend everyone download the original Japanese version along with an English patch for the text.

...i remember playing the original free untranslated japanese version a few years ago. And aside from the translation by eigomanga, this game is the same version as the original. Though Eigomanga claims they tweaked it a bit by removing bugs and fixing the balance, i honestly dont see anything theyve done gameplay wise

nor have they fixed the arcade stick controller custom interface you still cant adjust your arcade stick to the buttons you want as it seems to be designed more for four button control pads

but for $5, this game is more than worth it. The character design and fighting engine is quite well done for what it is. Everything's bright and colorful, and the girls are cute and kickass.

I really hope there's a sequel in the future. this series has huge potential

I was looking for something different. The OEM Xbox 360 headset would always become uncomfortable after an hour or so

of use for me. The foam/sponge "ear-speaker cover" would bother my ear and the hard plastic opposite end would dig into the other side of my head.

I had been looking all over (including in Japan) for a cool headset. I didn't want one that also played the sound from the game (ie. stereo or 5.1 audio),

I have an audio system for that, I just wanted a better communicator headset for talking with friends.

I saw this on a "popular game review site" and immediately went and got one.

I opened it. It felt like quality plastic and rubber. It had a durable feel to it. I was excited. Heck, I could even drink and not have to move the mic.

Perfect, right?

It fit a little tight around my lower neck, but I could deal with that. The ear pod was a little big and was deeper than say a traditional iPod ear bud.

It wasn't super comfy personally, but again, I could deal with it.

Problem #1

I plug it into the controller. The plug didn't fit super tight and it did that static thingy in my ear which made it seem like the connection wasn't all there.

it felt 3rd party-ish if you know what I mean. I was expecting it to kinda plug and lock in there, but it felt too loose for my liking.

Problem #2

So I connect with some friends. They say I sounded bad, too much static, so I looked closely and noticed that it came with the mute switch turned "on" (default setting? really?).

But if the mute was on, why could they hear me?

So I switched the mute to "off".

My friends said I sounded fine with the throat mic. I was actually surprised they said they couldn't tell the difference between my voice

with the Mad Catz product and the OEM Xbox headset.

Problem #3

My friends sounded drunk/inebriated. Their voices sounded horrible. I switched over to the OEM Xbox headset and they sounded fine. The ear piece had

horrible audio. It sounded like cheap equipment.

So basically the only good things are I can drink with it on and I sound OK, but the other issues were too much for me.

I can't express enough how bummed I am that this product isn't that good.

Oh well, I will repackage it up and return it.

The search continues.

I didn't even realize this was for sale yet until I walked into my local Gamestop today and happened to stumble upon their only 1 available. Being a new type of headset I was a bit skeptical. Long story short, it works like it's suppose to.

1) The neckpiece fits nice and snug. It is not adjustable as it's suppose to be in good contact right by your throat. I'm of average build and it fit perfectly. Even if you're a bit skinnier or heavier I'm sure it will fit comfortably still.

2) The earpiece also fit nicely. Unlike most earbud headphones, these do no have different sized ear pieces to make it fit any better in your ear. The size you see on the box is the only size you get.

3) The earbud goes to your left ear which felt weird at first being that I was used to an OEM headset for the last 4 years.

I tested it right away and my brother said it doesn't sounds as clear as the OEM headset but it's still good.

Overall, I can't think of any reason not to get it. There are a lot of options for headsets out there that cost less, but none are quite as fun as this one. If you have the 30$ to spend go for it.

I loved the feel and look of this headset. I thought the idea was so awesome BUT when Im using it my friends say that I don't sound like me on it and they always tell me to turn my mic off cause there is too much hissing sounds and echo sounds. This happens all the time it never changes so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND not getting this headset cause your just going to run into problems.

Honest reviews on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Throat Communicator for Xbox 360

I decided to buy this mic because I was curious as to how well it worked. With what seems to be mixed reviews online, I thought I'd find out for myself. I'll break down the good and bad points so it's very easy to see exactly where this mic shines, and where it doesn't.

The Good:

Cool design it really is fun to wear this mic because not only is it cooler than having a big over the ear mic on your head, but it is rather comfortable to wear. I can't however say that you don't notice it, because you certainly do, and I could see it being annoying for some people to wear, but it isn't for me.

Great earpiece the audio coming through the earpiece is LOUD and clear. I say LOUD because when I first used it, I had to turn the volume down about halfway because my ear almost exploded. The earpiece would be described as "one size fits most" but if you are like me and own a pair of earbuds with interchangeable rubber earpieces, you might be able to swap the stock earpiece for one of those.

Build Quality the build quality is surprisingly well done. I'm not sure if I got a newer version of the mic or what, but I don't see how anyone can claim that the headphone jack doesn't "snap" into your controller, because it does for me. I have not once had a problem with the jack falling out of the slot, but I guess if you threw your controller or something, it might come out then. You can even use this with most cell phones.

The Bad:

Poor to Average Voice Quality This is the only reason why I wouldn't give this mic a 5 star rating. While using this mic, I notice how much background noise it picks up. If you are like me and use surround sound, or just have your TV turned on loud, the mic will pick up a large amount of background noise. I especially notice that my mic indicator is on my screen while I'm blinded by flashbangs, while shooting my gun, or when explosions are nearby. If you have ever heard a cheaper bluetooth mic, then you should get a good idea of what this mic sounds like. Because of the way it is designed, the mic basically picks up everything in the room, instead of just your voice.

The voice quality really is the only negative aspect of this mic, and it is really unfortunate because it could be a must own piece of equipment if this wasn't such an issue. It doesn't bother me, but I know what it's like to be playing with someone who has a noisy mic, and its very, very annoying.

Just to comment on other opinions I have read :

When you get the mic, it is muted by default, so make sure you flip the mute switch before you use it, or no one will be able to hear it. It can also be confusing because the switch actually says "off" or "on" and in order to unmute the mic, you have to turn it to "off", which at first made me think the mic would be "off". But this is not a big deal at all once you actually realize it.

I've heard that the mute switch is hard to find, but it really isn't unless you are in a dark room. I think you could easily remember where it is, unless you have problems with things such as, remembering where buttons on your remote control or cell phone are...

I haven't had any problems with static, other than other people being able to hear "static" from background noise that this mic picks up.

I've also noticed that if I wear the piece that goes around your neck, when I wear it higher on my neck, my voice is very muffled sounding, and all my words seem to blend into one another. When wearing the mic at the base of my neck, it seems like it makes a dramatic difference in my voice quality.

Overall, I'd say that this mic is a decent alternative to the standard Xbox mic, but I don't know if I will really use it a whole lot because I just hate the fact that it picks up so much bg noise, and I know my teammates will want to punch me in the face for it.

I bought this throat communicator after some hesitation. I heard and read some bad reviews on it but my curiosity got the better of me. I have to say, I like it a lot. I'm not going to lie, it does take a little getting used to but once you have it on for about 10 mins. You don't even know it's there. One review on here says that the jack that plugs into the controller feels a little loose. That is true but it hasn't been a problem for me. One thing that is important, it matters where on your neck it is! I tried it in different spots, high on my neck, lower, ect. You get the idea. The best place is in the middle of your neck almost even with your adams apple. If I went higher or lower people said I sounded muffled or garbled. Some other complaints I seen were that the ear piece sounds like crap, to me it sounds fine. One last thing i'll mention, I had my throat communicator on and switched between my OEM and Playtonics headset while talking to a friend and they said I sounded more clear with the throat communicator. So that's my review, hope it helps on making a choice if you want to pick one up.
