I've had the controller since Oct.20.2012 and They're still working.

-Pros-

For FPS players the combat button is really useful for call of duty so you don't have to mash the left stick so much to run.

I like the LED lights, they still work.

The AXBY, Menu button, select and start buttons are nice and flat and don't feel squishy and annoying to press.

My controller is still in good shape, no control stick getting stuck slightly at all.

-Neutral-

LB & RB may feel weird at first, but you'll get used to it, they're good, clicky.

The controller has a nice feel, but it will wear down, but all controllers do that.

Just pointing it out there, I dropped my controller a few times by accident because I kept pulling the cord at times because I use it for PC games too and I keep it close and the controller still works perfectly fine for me.

-Cons-

If the DPAD was thinner, it would've been better.

Not much else I can really say bad about the controller.

The Controller still works and it's been about 7 months already, It's a great controller, despite Madcatz's reputation, I think this is one of their nice works.

One of the side grips wobbles a bit, but the controller functions as advertised, is comfortable in my hands and build quality seems solid. Works fine with steam games on pc with Windows 7 once xbox 360 controller drivers are installed.

Control is nice for just about any game other than fighters. The game is built to withstand aggressive gameplay. Good.

Cool for the price!! Long cord is convenient. I would recommend this if you don't want to spend lots on batteries or have to worry about your rechargeable battery dying during a game.

Being an avid gamer, mostly FPS games (HALO & Skyrim), I have only used wireless controllers. The times I spend playing would most always require me to charge the wireless controller during gaming. Which essential made them wired controllers and the same would go for the headsets. So, why not get a wired controller and not have dead battery packs or dead batteries laying around.

I went with the F.P.S. Pro after reviewing the product on Youtube compared to the Razr Onza controller done by arCtiCvBi. I have to say the programmable thumbstick colors was a turning point for my purchasing of the controller. I also like how easily you can change the combat buttons; left thumbstick color, left bumper, A or B button on the left side (combat 1) and right thumbstick color, right bumper, X or Y button on the right side (combat 2). Naturally you have to select the colors you want every time you turn on the XBOX controller.

Not having to worry about the controller dying is quite a weight lifted as well. Overall...I enjoy the feel, look and durability of the F.P.S. Pro wired controller.

This is DEFINITELY worth the $99.99 price tag back up to almost $150 (still worth it!!!), you get a tonne of great mixes, two turntables and a microphone, and if you pre-ordered it through one of the different promotions, you could've come out with a Puma bag or autographed turntables (this one being more expensive), shirts, etc. They have also released a patch so you can use DJ Hero 1 DLC (not DJH1 disc songs but DLC mixes) in DJH2. And if you are looking for the best deal, I think this WAS it. keep checking to see if they go on sale for $99.99 again.

I bought the Renegade Edition of DJH1 when it came out and enjoyed the game but felt certain things were missing from the gameplay mechanics. DJH2 is a lot more fun with the new gameplay, scratching is much more fun, cross-fading is really great, there's some of other nice things they've added and/or changed. Overall, this game is much improved on the first game, I haven't really played too much online myself though.

The track list in my opinion (subjective) is way better than the first. As soon as I heard Deadmau5, Kaskade and Calvin Harris were in this game, the price was more than justified (I paid at $154.99 haha) and still is considering what you get, especially the $100 price tag. The equipment is decent quality I haven't had any issues, however, I wish the microphone cord was longer, compared to my RB/Logitech mics it's kinda short. Some people won't mind this, but I would have liked it to be longer, oh and by the way, the DJH2 microphone works perfectly in RB and GH games (if anyone was wondering), not sure about the other singing style games (but I'd imagine it would be compatible for the most part).

This is perfect for people who are really into music (especially dance/electro/hip-hop) and video games or if you're a fan of music genre video games (RB/GH). It's a fun game for anyone really, just needs more Calvin Harris, Kaskade and Deadmau5!!!

*I added a bunch of pictures above as well.

I was hesitant to buy these after seeing reviews mentioning "riding up", "comes right off", and needing "permanent superglue" (yikes!), but I am really glad I gave them a try. Simply put, these things are great! I've had them on my 360 controllers for 2 weeks now, and I will never go back to the stock 360 thumbsticks. I haven't tried them on PS3 controllers yet, so my review is primarily for Xbox 360 use.

Installation: This was a breeze. Invert, place on top of the regular thumbstick, then flip the sides down.

Fit: VERY snug fit on my official 360 controllers. They never move during play (and no, I didn't use any superglue!) In fact, I just tried wildly flailing the sticks around and they still didn't move at all. I don't know why others had trouble I'm curious whether they used aftermarket controllers, or maybe pulled off the original stick coverings before putting these on.

Control/feel: Very comfortable and provides excellent control; precise movements seem easier to make. Each grip has a slightly raised surface with 16 tiny bumps for texture and friction. Also reduces concavity and covers up those 4 big uncomfortable bumps on the 360 sticks (I think those bumps are supposed to be for grip, but they just irritate the skin on my thumbs when I play.)

Overall: A hearty two thumb(stick)s up! Will it double your K/D ratio? Probably not, but for $5 you can hardly go wrong!

Pros:

+ Pleasing to the touch and comfortable to use

+ Gel material provides excellent control for precise movements

+ Fast & easy installation

+ Very snug fit on 360 thumbsticks

+ Reduces concavity and covers the uncomfortable bumps on stock 360 sticks

+ Package includes 2 (black) universal grips for Xbox/Playstation, plus 1 (blue) for the Wii nunchuck

+ Low price

Cons:

Seems to pick up grease from fingers easier than the stock thumbsticks, so keep them clean! (Maybe this is why some found them slippery?)

Clicking in the sticks takes a bit more effort because of the extra gel material

btw, neither are necessary

Best Deals for Gel Tabz Universal Silicon Grip

I bought a pack of these online elsewhere and it came with 3 grips, two black ones and a smaller blue one. The black ones are designed for the PS3 and 360 analog sticks while the blue is designed for the Wii Nunchuk (though all 3 can work on any analog stick I believe). The blue one is VERY good for the Nunchuk analog stick which only has one rib on it (unlike the ribbed GC analog stick). The blue Gel Tab has a lot of pronounced bumps which give it a good grip. The black ones are terrible. The bumps are fewer (despite being bigger) and not as raised. I actually found my thumbs slipping more than when I used the PS3 analog sticks without them. That pretty much defeats the purpose of them. I don't think they're necessary for the 360 controller since that has concave analog sticks. I haven't tried since the black ones on a Wii Nunchuk since the blue one is perfect for it.

I'd only recommend this if you really want a grip for your Wii Nunchuk.

I was looking for something to go over the thumbsticks of my 360 controller since my 1 year old son decided to chew off the rubber that was on them. They're pretty easy to put on, they look great, feel great and the price was easy on the wallet. They cover up the exposed plastic on my thumbsticks and now I can play forza 3 without getting a callus on my thumb, and its much cheaper than going out and getting a new controller! I recommend them

Twisted Metal (2012) is based on a great franchise with excellent core gameplay. However, this newest release tries to apply an assortment of mode variations (taken from FPS and racing games) with questionable results.

Instead of being able to choose from a macabre cast of characters (as in past titles) you find yourself tied to (3) players: Sweettooth, Mr.Grimm, and Dollface (which are unlocked in that order). Each character has (3) 2-3 min movies that blend live-action and CGI to great effect, even though the middle cinematic is partially relegated to flashbacks from the original video.

Combat and vehicle handling are tight. Weapons are varied and mostly balanced, and the helicopter Talon is actually pretty fun to use. As a result, online play can be enjoyable if you select the right matches and modes. However, in an attempt to add variety, the modes too often stray from what is fun.

Once vehicles have been unlocked by a character's gang they can be used during other matches. It seems kind of odd to use Sweettooth on Mr.Grimm's motorcycle, or to drive Shadow with Dollface but that's what you'll find. (Axel is only playable as DLC). The good part is that you can use your favorite car in almost every level. However, the PROBLEM is that the new level designs almost force you to select certain cars to proceed in single player or be competitive online.

Ultimately, you end up choosing what works best for certain scenarios and less of who you would LIKE to play as. Twisted Metal was always a car combat game built around single elimination death matches. The new game changes that, and not necessarily for the better. On the rooftops there will be an inordinate number of people using the helicopter Talon.

Likewise, in checkpoint races everyone will choose Kamikaze or Crimson Fury (paint variations of the fastest vehicle). Here you must beat your opponents to certain destinations without missing too many gates. The problem is that this is NOT Mario Kart, or Blur where weapons will knock people off the track. In those games, any vehicle has a CHANCE to win. In this game Crimson Fury or Kamikaze will ALWAYS win. Unless you choose one or the other, you have absolutely no chance of winning. Missles and even special moves (with the exception of the magnet) will never knock the cars off of their path. In addition, going through checkpoints replenishes health.

Cage Matches force you to do battle in certain sections of a level surrounded by lighted green grids. If you stay outside the grid for too long, you take damage. The problem is that vehicles with less health/shields will usually die if you are not concentrating on making your way back into the "cage" at EVERY given moment. Less shields = more damage = death if you get lost enroute. I finally beat these levels with Mr. Grimm, but only because his special move does an insane amount of damage once you charge it up (160) and I killed each car with two direct hits and no misses. This does NOT work online with skilled players. Most people end up selecting the same tougher vehicles.

Other levels have Juggernaut trucks that endlessly respawn enemies. You must either destroy them and all the other vehicles on the map, or continue killing cars until you have reached a quota. This is more frustrating than fun, since it offers little opportunity to search levels for new weapons or ammo. Instead, you must destroy everything as quickly as possible and hope your vehicle spawns in a good location.

Throughout the 18 levels or so of single player there are only 2-3 REAL deathmatch battles. Ultimately this is where I feel most disappointed. Twisted Metal is NOT a FPS. Capture the flag (with gang leaders you return to a missle launcher), races, and cage matches really do not do the game mechanics justice. Combine that with a limited number of characters and cinematics, and I feel somewhat let down.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OVERALL:

So, all in all the core mechanics are still great. Graphics have low textures, but are still manageable. The 9 cinematics are well done (although more would have been welcome), and the helicopter is a decent addition to gameplay.

Yet aside from VERY SPECIFIC online modes, a lot of this game just isn't as fun as previous entries. The bottom line is that most of the new modes do not work in context. I wish this had been a game that played to the strengths of the series without trying to revolutionize the core gameplay.

Twisted Metal is probably still a game worth buying, but I ABSOLUTELY recommend waiting until the price goes below $30.

7.5/10

Mmkay, how to start... First off, don't hate the messenger! o_o This review is purely opinionated and should be taken as such. I'm the kind of gamer that's in it for the story and single player experience, thus I'm most likely not going to touch upon Online play. Sorry peeps. :( Plus, I'm doing this for the casual gamers out there, the ones who play for mindless fun, want a new game, and aren't hardcore 50+ hour gamers. If you're on the fence, I'm writing this for you! :) With that said, lets roll!

I really liked the game as a whole. Why? I'm glad you asked! :3 The graphics are were very nice! Very few levels to play, but they were huge! The cars are well made. The graphics don't go as far as KZ 2 or 3, but there is vast improvement since the release of TM: Black!

My moment of disappointment... Yes, it is true as other reviewers mentioned. There are only 3 characters who have a story in the campaign. The way it works is the cars that have different abilities, not the driver. So much for character individuality :(

I could go on about what other reviewers mentioned, but what I really want to put emphasis on is gameplay! I'm surprised people mention so little of it. If you wanna hear about characters and story, many others have written such. >_>

Ok, let me say that I'm am an avid gamer and I enjoy various genres and challenges! I can comfortably say I'm not the best gamer ever, but I'm pretty good (I'm not boasting, I swear!). o_o So now let me place the warning here:

CASUAL GAMERS BEWARE!!! lol

Having played the campaign mode on Normal difficulty, I'll admit, it was tough! O_O There are 3 difficulty levels, (Normal, Hard, Twisted). That's 3 difficulties of kicking player butt! D:

On top of a tricky button configuration, there is a LOT going on... When you play this game, you'll be dodging bullets and missiles, trying to aim a chargeable weapon, AND trying to maneuver important obstacles! This isn't a simple game, by no means! This game WILL in fact test your dexterity!

Something else to consider is your patience as a gamer! Personally, I can put up with a lot, but there were times where I became VERY frustrated! In the campaign, it will feel as if you (the player) are public enemy #1 at all times. The AI rarely fights each other, keep this in mind! ._. This is especially apparent when you fight a mini boss called the Juggernaut. It's a semi that has increased armor, has potent firepower, and spits out a new opponent to fight every so often if you don't beat him fast enough. When this mini boss gets a twin to help, and other enemy drivers are trying to kill you, it becomes one Hell of a fight... Then they make you fight 2 of them with badass upgrades further into the campaign... I nearly cried when I got to that stage... T-T

The races (yes, TM has races, crazy, I know :P...) can be tricky to maneuver when people are tossing your vehicle around with various explosions and ramming. They were fun, don't get me wrong, but in those moments of cheap shots, I was ready to use words that would stupefy an entire nunnery for generations to come! o_O

Oh I must absolutely mention the Electric Cage matches -.-

In a level, there will be a barrier that changes positions. Think of "capture the zone" type of gameplay. You have to fight in this barrier. If you stay outside the barrier for too long, health depletes. Now the challenge is trying to race to the next location, and often the AI would cheap shot me by freezing my vehicle (a special move that can be done) in place.

At the end of it all, I will say that this game made me work for that victory, lol! I personally appreciate that, but I also understand some gamers out there don't want an uphill battle, but in contrast seek mindless, casual fun. Just know that playing the campaign will be a challenge! :3

To conclude, my recommendation on buying this game, especially if you're the casual type, is to wait. I don't confidently think it's worth a $60 experience. BUT I will say I'm so happy I pre-ordered this, because Amazon had an offer to upgrade to the Limited Edition version, which came with a Redeem code that gives you a downloadable version of the PS2's Twisted Metal Black for free! I loved Black, so that was quite a bonus! The more skillful gamers out there will have a lot of fun with this game, but everyone else should know that there will be a struggle. I'd almost say you'll want to have the attitude of, "This is meant to be more challenge than entertainment". Definitely rent or borrow from a friend first, because the only way to know for sure how you'll like it is to play it personally! Other than that, I wish all of you happy gaming, good luck, and thank you so much for taking the time to read my review! :D

P.S. I'm so freaking sorry it's a long review, I was caught up in being informative! D:

Best Deals for Twisted Metal

PROS

The visual of this game is better than I expected. Environments and cars look pretty good.

Insane multiplayer mode, this game has probably one of the most exciting multiplayer modes.

I really could give this game 4.5 just because of the greatness of the multiplayer mode.

Sound effect and Soundtracks are just great, fits really well to the game(and i love More human than human by Rob Zombie)

Pretty dope campaign mode cutscenes

Huge maps and variety of weapons and vehicles.(which proly makes up for the lack of characters)

MP server is fixed!!!!

.

.

CONS

To be honest, Campaign story does not really live up to my expectations. I was expecting something close to TM Black.

Balance issues, especially Mr. Grimm's bike, it seems that there is really no point of choosing Mr. Grimm's bike, because you will die so quickly.

Little bit of Camera angle issues..

.

.

To be honest, i thought this game was going to be another overhyped disaster like the Brink

but Twisted Metal PS3 is actually a great game and it was definitely worth preordering.

I would give it 4.5 stars out of 5

Twisted Metal does it again. I'm not gonna go ahead and spoil the good stuff, but this game is crazy. And of course twisted... Graphics are good, storyline and gameplay is awesome. If you've played the previous TMs, you'll see what I'm talking about ;].

Like many others, I've been a long time fan since 1995. This is without a doubt the best Twisted Metal game ever made, but there are alot of issues that slightly disappointed me.

After already finishing story mode, I can say it is probably the most disappointing thing of all. The live action cut scenes are done very well, but the stories just aren't as interesting as I hoped they would be. Twisted Metal Black remains the highlight of the series as far as story telling goes. In Black we witnessed the depressing tale of Dollface, a terrifying realistic look at Mr. Grimm, and found out why Sweet Tooth's head remains in flames at all times. I was hoping for a story line with only 3 drivers to at least give an in depth look at these characters and see what really makes them tick. It doesn't even try to explain why Sweet Tooth has a flaming head. In one scene he's a normal guy, the next his head is on fire when he puts the mask on. What? Having such a quick shift with no explanation is no better than Twisted Metal 4's opening movie. Come on guys.

It's just disappointing in general not having all the unique drivers the series is known for. It was so much fun to go through with different characters to see their motivations and fate after winning the tournament. It added alot of replay value to the games, and I really do miss that aspect. Even though we have many familiar vehicles and special weapons making a return, there's just something strange about Mr. Grimm driving the iconic clown's ice cream truck or seeing Dollface fitted into Axel's killing machine. Another thing I really don't care for are the races. You race through checkpoints around large maps while blasting each other and trying not to fall off cliffs or rooftops. This can become very irritating, especially due to the fact that if you miss a certain amount of checkpoints you self destruct. Also, some of the boss fights are a little cheap, but they are epic encounters to say the least. These are gripes from a long time fan, but I just felt I had to address them.

In the long run, it's all about the gameplay and amazing multiplayer. Offline or online this game is so much fun. Fluid controls, dozens of levels, and tons of awesome vehicles make this game the best in the series by far. Co-op is as fun as ever, and being able to hop online with a friend in split screen is a blast. Custom paint jobs for all the cars is a nice little addition as well, plus a nice selection of different side arms like shotguns, semi-autos, and even magnums. I don't regret buying this game at all, and I'm so happy it's finally made a comeback. If you have never played a game in the series before, this is the place to start.

Borderlands - Xbox 360 Reviews

Borderlands - Xbox 360

Borderlands has so far proved to be an immensely enjoyable game delivering in many ways where Gearbox promised. I feel it will be equally appealing to fans of shooters and dungeon crawlers alike.

You start the game going through a little story intro and a bit of a bus ride. Shortly after a bit of introduction you'll be asked to select one of the characters and exit the bus to start your adventures. The game doesn't come right out and tell you these are your "classes" but for the interests of the RPG elements of the game that's what they are. Your choices are basically between stealth/special weapons, sniper, support/healing, and tank/melee. There unfortunately isn't a vast amount of customization in their looks available but you can alter a 3 color scheme for their outfit and customize your name almost immediately after stepping off the bus.

From here you do a short and sweet tutorial which throws you right in to the action relatively quickly. The controls are tight and will be very familiar to fans of popular FPS games such as Halo, Resistance, Gears, Unreal, and many others. You have the ability to jump, duck, melee, shoot, toss grenades, and eventually use a class specific special ability such as placing turrets. Aside from the general control of your character menus are easy to navigate for all of your weapons, the map is easy to read, and the HUD is simple and informative.

Following the tutorial you progress the game from doing various quests. These quests can be found on mission boards, from NPCs, and occasionally from random stuff lying around. The quests themselves so far haven't been anything particularly noteworthy in the grand scheme of RPGs. It's still a lot of "kill XYZ" "collect a fistful of whozawhatits" or "go talk to random NPC" but they have streamlined them enough to where the don't feel forced but rather serve as more of a beacon of where you should realistically be taking your character and scoring some nice exp and loot while you're at it. Quest objectives can also be tracked and objectives are clearly marked on your compass.

Outside of questing there are a decent number of monsters to kill. I still don't really have much of an idea as to what dictates when an enemy will respawn but it seems if you wander around enough you will likely run in to something to kill. It's typically not a mindless slaughter either, I would highly recommend trying fighting tactically much like you would in a shooter. Until you out-gear or out-level your opponent you will find that the game can actually be quite challenging at times and reward clever use of your equipment and abilities. The game did a great job of encouraging this too by making your enemies respond to grenades logically, implementing cover well, and of course rewarding you with devastating critical with our beloved' HEAD SHOT!

Sizable amounts of experience can also be earned through completing various challenges which are like in game achievements, some of which are actually tied to achievements/trophies. It's mostly killing various things with various weapons but early on it's a great source of experience and you can track your progress on them.

Starting at level 5 you will start to acquire skill points every level. These are used to boost various abilities of your character via a talent/skill tree. There aren't a lot of choices and you can get quite a few of them with the number of points you wind up with but most of them are fundamentally decent options allowing for some individual diversity in how you build your character without having to over-think it. Aside from that each level your character will get a generic health, defense, and attack boost.

The weapons are pretty cool but I will state that some of the "87 Gazillion" claims were perhaps a bit exaggerated. While it is true that many of the weapons can do quite a bit of unique things, the vast majority of the weapons and gear you will find are going to be slight variations of each other much like any other similar dungeon crawler such as Sacred, Titan Quest, or Diablo. Perhaps later in the game the unique generation of weapons becomes more apparent but I could so far fairly compare this to the way the weapons were in Hellgate: London. As for the size of the actual database and possible combination of weapons, I'm sure their claims are accurate but I can only comment from a practical standpoint of what I've seen. In addition to weapons you also get shields which can do various things such as regen health or do elemental bursts when depleted and grenade modifications which allow your grenades to do all kinds of things such as teleport, stick to things, and bounce.

Looting is probably one of my few mild gripes with this game. You can't simply auto-loot everything in your proximity. What the game has you doing is finding in item, hitting the loot button, and then holding it to pick up other relatively close items. It's not game breaking annoying but the range on it isn't very great and holding the loot button to pick up a weapon will auto-equip it which is something that can be frustrating at times.

The graphics will most likely be a love/hate thing for most players as they are highly stylized. I personally love them and think they're quite well done but there are certainly realism junkies out there that won't care for the cartoon approach at all. I will say that only decent videos of this game should be used to judge the graphics, still screenshots don't do this game any justice at all. Graphics aside the environments are very interesting, the characters are well done albeit a bit generic, enemies are pretty decent (Tremors anybody?), and the animations are high quality.

Multiplayer can be done with 2 player split screen couch co-op and online with up to four players I believe. I haven't gone online yet but the split screen was easy enough. Rather than scaling all of the menus down in split screen they opted to leave them full size and movable so that text wouldn't get smushed together which I thought was a pretty clever move. What this means is both players don't have to squint to read everything thing, simply centralize it in their field of view. Also as you do quests objectives/turn-ins will be shared meaning you don't spend your time waiting for everyone to catch up all the time. In multiplayer you can also duel each other which I haven't tried yet.

Vehicles haven't really been much more than a way to get around for me yet. They can be customized in color and weapon outfit but my brother and I both agreed that they weren't a very good way of killing anything aside from running them over which seemed to always been an automatic kill. For a giant vehicle mounted weapon they seem completely inferior to even the worst weapon you could collect at that relative level. The controls are very similar (identical?) to that of a Warthog in Halo. They'll probably take some getting used to for new players but they're relatively easy once you've figured them out. I personally find them to be a bit floaty and awkward but at the moment I don't see myself needing clutch control out of the vehicles for combat so they are passable.

The story regards something involving finding a long lost vault of alien technology. While I'm sure it's interesting I honestly haven't paid much attention to it aside from parts of the story which I couldn't avoid. This sort of game doesn't really bank on the story for me.

That's basically it. Quest, kill, loot, level, and become the destructive juggernaut that Pandora always needed while searching for the vault.

Pros:

Great implementation of shooter mechanics

Lots of fun loot

Good multiplayer

Straight forward and simple RPG elements

Graphics

Cons:

Graphics

Wonky loot controls

Maybe a little cliché at times

I love this game and would highly recommend it.

So I got my copy of Borderlands last night and played up to level 11. Here are my impressions one day in.

-The game is beautiful. I personally love the cartoony style of the graphics. Extremely detailed and even the barren wasteland is nice to look at. The characters while not customizable are all highly detailed as well and look great. You can change the name and colors, that's about it.

-Controls are excellent. Feels like COD4 with a few changes. Any FPS player can pick it up and play very easily. The one vehicle I've seen so far controls exactly like a warthog from halo.

-Guns, guns, guns. Only a few hours in and I've seen so many kinds of guns I can't count them. One of the best parts of the game is that you'll never know what will drop out of the next enemy. Could be that acid rocket shotgun you've been waiting for! The pure crazines of the weapons is awesome.

-Story. What story? Your looking for a vault full of alien technology. That's it so far. If your looking for deep story, this is not the game for you. Try Fallout 3. On that note, this game is nothing like Fallout. Other than the fact that both games are set in a wasteland like place in the future there is no comparison. It's more like COD4/Halo meets Diablo/Baldurs Gate.

-Co-op. Tried the co-op last night and it was the best online experiance I've ever had. I sent my friend an invite and he joined my game with his levleed up character. No lobby, no re-loading, he just appeared in my game, we played for a few hours and when he left I was back to single player. All seamless. Amazing. Can't wait to try it with four players.

-In the couple of hours I played it I was glued to the XBOX360. If I didn't have to work today I would have played all night. Now that's a sign of a good game. Well spent 60.00. I'm sure I'll more than get my monies worth on this one for a long time to come. With four characters that you'll not likely max out on the first play through this game has some legs to stand on. Enjoy.

I wish I could give this game three and a half stars but I can't. I also wish that I could climb aboard the "this game is amazing" train but I can't do that either. To be clear: this is a fun game and if you enjoy copious loot and you're FPS/RPG hybrid genre fan I'd recommend this game, even at retail price. On the other hand if you find yourself leaning more one way or the other in terms of either a solid FPS or a real PRG then there are safer bets coming down the line for your $60. It's a good game but it just didn't live up to the hype more for decisions that the design team seemed to have made than for any failing in execution.

With that said everything that Gearbox set out to do it looks like they accomplished. The game looks great, the mechanics are solid, the audio is good and the art direction is absolutely fantastic. I'm also happy to say that with the exception of some very questionable decisions regarding pop up windows in split-screen play there are no bugs or obvious quality control oversights. This game is highly polished, a treasure to look at and smooth to play. Technically speaking this is quality software. From here on out if it seems I'm ragging on this game a little hard it's because there are already a ton of 5 star reviews on here so it's easy to find emphasis on the better aspects of the game if one desires.

The problem with Borderlands is that it doesn't really do any single thing really well. It's not a solid combat FPS and the RPG elements are so insignificant they're essentially just a mildly customizable scaling system. The vehicles also appear more an afterthought than anything. There aren't enough options to really customize your character and leveling decisions are more tactical considerations than broad gameplay choices. There's just no role play in the role play. There are also exactly zero interesting or functionally interactive NPCs, the towns are simply a series of empty buildings and vending machines where you conduct business transactions. The few NPCs that do exist are immobile "come here and get you next quest" cut-outs. Borderlands is a dead world alright, just not in a good way. This is very disappointing and retro in an age of complex NPC AI and living, breathing worlds. There appears to have been a design decision along that way that "more is better". I'd generally agree but here that ends up being a "tons of guns" gimmick that only leads to you simply hauling "tons of guns" back to vending machines to sell, only looking at their price tag. The other thing this leads to is a long series of uninspired missions that are largely "go here, collect item/kill boss, return". With little or no depth to the missions they quickly start to feel less like a series of epic quests and more like a list of errands.

The FPS combat element is only adequate. Again, the feel is retro. The level deign is very dated with transition points between maps which are largely a series of canyons or other linear pathways interrupted by bizarrely unpleasant loading screens. Often at the end of the canyon is a load point which takes you into a building. Guess where that widget you have to find is? Yep, at the back the building in the big room with the boss. At least you won't get lost, there's generally only one way in or out. In the day of open, persistent outside worlds this is pretty unacceptable for a top shelf game(paging Bethesda). The enemies along the way have sufficient by undeniably rudimentary AI. The number of animations is limited and the group tactics non-existent so instead of fighting groups of enemies that work together and utilize cover and flank you instead you just fight multiple independent enemies simultaneously that strafe back and forth and advance or retreat depending on their health. It's rather uninspired and the game uses a leveling system for enemies that radically alters the game's formula for dealing and being dealt damage. This is used to prevent you from "playing ahead" by having enemies that are almost impossible to defeat without leveling. Having all your FPS skills be thrown out the window because you can only do 10 damage per shot instead of 50 and you take 50 instead of 10 because the game wants you to be a lvl 20 and you're "only" a 17 is frustrating. Die hard FPS traditionalists will also be very unhappy with the HALO like shields and the checkpoint save system. Oh, and your little robot helpers are a blatant rip off of Grrr from Invader Zim.

Still, with all my complaints this is a solid game. It's fun and can draw you in. On top of that there is more than enough unique gaming hours in it to justify a purchase instead of a rental. Bottom line: FPS fans would be better served waiting for Modern Warfare 2 and RPG and RPG hybrid fans should wait for Dragon Age but it's still a safe bet if you have time and money to burn.

Pros:

*Very polished, had no bugs. Quality coding.

*Beautiful art direction and smooth, engaging graphics.

*Simple, fun controls.

*Very large world, plenty of unique game play hours for your buck.

*Achieves "just one more quest" syndrome at times.

*Easy learning curve.

Subjective qualities and food for thought:

*Very light on RPG elements, this isn't Deus Ex or Fallout 3.

*Not a run and gun shoot 'em blood and guts ride.

*Not a lot of variety in the loot just guns/shields/mods.

*Tons of guns. More likely to be sold to a vending machine than shot at anyone though.

*Check point save system.

*Shields.

Cons:

*Irritating inventory.

*Simple AI.

*No interesting NPCs, no interactive world.

*Little true character customization.

*Vehicles end up as mere transportation.

*Dated level design.

*Unreasonable level scaling system that takes away from the FPS element.

*Boring story.

*Slow to start.

Honest reviews on Borderlands - Xbox 360

Borderlands is a perfect hybrid of Halo and Diablo. The shooting feels satisfying, the loot drops are spaced out perfectly, the world is gorgeous, and 4 player co-op works great. It's the type of game that keeps you saying to yourself "just one more quest" until it's turned into the wee hours of the morning. Good times!

Borderlands is a game most of you have heard of, if you haven't, then you're hearing of it now. It is a Role-Playing Game/First Person Shooter developed by Gearbox. With that in mind, most of you will think "Oh, it's just a Fallout 3 clone." Well don't, it's far from it. If you need a game to compare Borderlands to, it would be best to think one of Blizzard Entertainment's massively successful games: Diablo II, or World Of Warcraft.

Graphics:

If anyone has been following this game for any length of time, you know that about halfway through development that Gearbox made a dramatic change in style from a grimdark realistic look to the now, cel shaded-esque "Concept Art Style". Typically you loose a lot of detail in cel shading, but with Gearbox's method you maintain the style, while keeping tiny details like a wrinkle on cloth. The graphics are very suiting of the game, but there are hitches here and there. Water effects are nonexistent, and on-character shadows tend to be fragmented. With previous few I cannot say for certain if they are a product of the Unreal Engine or not, however, the ridiculous texture pops are. You would think that people would either find a work around or license a better engine. Oh well, I guess it can't be helped.

Audio:

The sound fits the game unbelievably well. Walking unknowingly past a skag nest, only to hear one running at you from behind is at intense at it gets. Guns sound different to the point that really fell them for what the are. Be it an assault rifle that sounds like an anti-aircraft gun or an SMG that sounds like you could kill ten people without them even noticing, it's really amazing how many different sounds they have. The background music is a bit western and use a lot of plucking in strings to give it that authentic feel. Needless to say, if you enjoyed the music of Firefly, you will feel right at home here.

Gameplay:

This is where Borderlands truly shines. The game consists of either single player, or up to four player co-op in Borderlands' nice open world. You have buggies that come in various colors and in either a rocket launcher or chain gun variant where one player drives and the other guns. Borderlands has a quest system set in place to where you find a quest giver, fulfill the requirements, and return for the reward, not too different than you standard RPG. Quests come in the "go here, kill that", "go here, find this", and "go here, find this, and kill something with it". If you have ever in your life played an instance on World Of Warcraft you know exactly what to expect from "dungeons" on here. You go into an area, fight your way through many a "peon" and several sub-bosses to make it to the final boss. And when I say sub-bosses and bosses, I mean exactly that. Be prepared to have yourself killed SEVERAL times in the process of fighting through the instance as well as burning through most of your ammo supply. Dying consistes of two stages. 1) You are knocked to the ground and can either kill someone while downed to get up, or wait for a teammate to pick you up. 2) if neither of the previous happen you will respawn at the last checkpoint marker you passed, aptly named "New-U", You'll come back with no real penalty other then a loss of money. You really feel the need to work together, and I'd say doing so is more important than Left 4 Dead. On to one of the most touted aspects of the game. Guns. As has been said, this game has guns, guns, and MORE guns. You will literally never find the the same gun twice. Even if you find a gun that has the same sight, the same barrel and same name, they will not have the same stats. The amount of variety in the game truly does match that of Diablo and World Of Warcraft.

As an obvious statement, no game is perfect. And Borderlands is no exception. You will come across bugs here and there such as getting stuck between a ramp and a rock. The only way to get free, being dying. The occasional graphic glitch during respawn, or shadow not lining up correctly. But in all honesty, you will be enjoying the game too much to care.

Graphics: 8.2/10

Audio: 8.9/10

Christmas gift for my 7 year old son. We bought an extra blaster so the two of us could play together.

Pros:

Decent graphics. About what you would expect from a Wii title.

Challenging. Normal difficulty presents a solid challenge for young kids and adults. Getting every bonus canister is quite difficult on any difficulty (more on that later). Elite difficulty is quite hard.

Lots of guns. If you are a Nerf Dart Gun fan you will love the variety of guns available in the game. 16 that run the gamut from sniper rifles to grenade launchers and everything in between.

Customize and upgrade your guns. You can spend your canister points on numerous upgrades and customizations for each gun. Clip size, damage, reload rate, color, dart (trails, whistling etc), extra barrels, scopes, sights and so on. Probably my son's favorite part of the game.

Replayability. The levels and game is challenging enough to replay the game over and over again. Good thing since the game itself is very short.

Red Reveal: A nice gameplay element. Kids will like it.

-Plot, It's pretty basic, but my son liked the characters, dialog and plot twist. He's 7, give him a break.

Cons:

The game is very short. 10 levels I believe. I suppose it's a "budget" title as you get a $20 gun included with the game, but we could finish the game in about 1-2 hours.

Only 2 player multiplayer. Why? There's 4 characters to use, they should all be allowed to play at once.

Bugs: some bugs that we had to overcome by restarting the level. Crosshairs go missing, game gets frozen in one spot. Not a huge number, but for such a short title and simple game, these things shouldn't exist. Rushed out for the holidays I susupect.

Aiming is a bit wonky. Make sure your controllers are calibrated properly before attempting to play this game. The shooting requires precision and jittery crosshairs make it an exercise in frustration. Even properly calibrated, there are some issues with keeping the crosshairs steady.

Weapon Switching. Each character can hold 4 weapons, unfortunately, switching between weapons requires the use of the D-Pad which is located on top of the gun. Not a comfortable way to switch. Furthermore, the D-Pad which could have been designed to have each gun selected by a different direction (U,D,L, R), is limited to only R & L, and there is a considerable delay between switches. Thus, going from gun #1 to gun #3 takes a long time. For a game predicated on the variety and speciality of it's guns, not being able to switch quickly and comfortably between them is a real pain.

Comments:

I don't have a problem with not being able to control where the players move. It eliminates alot of potential problems and adds some challenge to the shooting. This is a kid's game. I don't think complicating the control scheme and allowing the potential to get lost in a level is a benefit.

my wrist hurts. I wish the included gun was a rifle and not a pistol that required awkward positioning to switch weapons.

The bottom line is that this game is alot of fun, but not without it's flaws. I suppose the true test is how much my 7 year old likes it and he loves it. He hasn't even opened up the rest of his christmas presents (it's already the 27th too.) By far is favorite of the toys he's gotten. We've played the game about twice through already and are going back for thirds so we can get enough canisters to fully upgrade all the guns.

A great shooting game that is appropriate for young children. Finding codes with the red view finder adds to the fun for kids. I thought including a foam dart launcher was unnecessary, but when my 9 year old was playing the video game and then asked if the gun could shoot real darts, I understood that the designers had done their research!

This game is the sequel to nerf n-strike and B.O.B. is back. Shane (the boy who B.O.B. recruits in the first game) and the rest of the trainees from the first game set out to destroy B.O.B.. This game is tons of fun and I love it, and the new red reveal was a nice touch. You can use this reveal to find enemy weak points and codes through out the game. The main point is if you love nerf you'll probally love this game.

Honest reviews on Nerf N-Strike Elite Bundle - Nintendo Wii (Bundle)

This game is pretty fun. My son really enjoys it. The gun is a versatile real nerf gun. So we break out his other nerf guns and run around the house having nerf wars. My wife would probably not agree with this review, for the running around the house issue, but we have fun doing it. The game is pretty good, it gets alittle redundant and old after awhile. It is still fun. Would recommend this game.

I got this for Christmas for my 5 year old son. He has been playing this game non-stop! I love that there is a non-violent shooting game out there. He quickly realized that the gun shoots only nerf darts and thought that was pretty cool. I also like that the game only shoots at robots who are shooting nerf darts at you, there is no shooting at other people. My son really have loved playing this game and even though we have beat it on the easy setting he still goes back and plays the levels over and over again. Super fun game! Oh! and for those who don't want to listen to the talking portions you can hit "A" on the Wii remote and it will skip that. Happy shooting!

I am not even fan of fighting games, yet I can't stop enjoying this. Playing as my favorite characters , so many modes and replay value. Playing online etc this game will last you for a long time. The story mode was surprisingly amazing, I mean a great story in a FIGHTING game? hell yeah somehow they pulled that off. Get this.

Its a decent game. Pretty similar to Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Story line is also decent. I could have given this 4 stars. But I am giving it only 3 because I was let down by the PS4 version. This game makes your PS4 looks like a PS3. There is no PS4 level graphics in this game. I guess the textures are of higher resolution, and that's pretty much it. The "Ultimate Edition" is not much of a use for me.

I should have rather gotten a used version of the game for PS3 than spending $59.99 for the PS4 version with sub par graphics.

Held off on getting this game for PS3, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was going to be available for the PS4 launch. This is easily one of the best fighting games I've ever played. Not super technical as far as moves go, but it looks great and it's fun to play both with other people and on your own in story mode. Would definitely recommend.

Honest reviews on Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition - PlayStation 4 Standard

Building up from the Mortal Kombat reboot that was also an incredible game, comes Injustice: Gods Among Us that lets you control many of your favorite comic book characters and puts you in a fight were you'll be able to pull off some fantastic looking combos with very fluid pace. We all know the satisfaction of creating a super long combo only to be topped by a Super Move virtually killing your opponent in one move.

But the usual rounds we're all used to where once you drain your opponents life you both go back to zero is gone. If you finish the round with 5% of your life, that will carry over to the next round as is. If you're good (or lucky) enough to beat the other one with that, my hats off to you!

It's a nice and welcome change to the usual formula we all know.

Graphics-wise I do not see a very big improvement over the PS3 version and I do believe that the actual game looks better than the pre-rendered cutscenes. Maybe the improvements to the graphical engine were made only to the actual game but they did not render them again. I've definitely seen better.

There are so many game modes to try. You have your regular story mode where you'll be able to try the different characters and their moves while following a somewhat OK storyline or you can try going on a ladder mode å la Mortal Kombat where you fight a few opponents and you'll get a brief story on that character at the end.

Several of this modes pay homage to MK with a small twist and they're definitely fun.

Controls are spot on once you get used to them. I think this is one of the best fighting games of the PS3 generation. We'll see how long it can keep that spot for the next one

I have never enjoyed a fighter game in my life. When people were going crazy for street fighter, I was focusing on Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior. So, Fighters have never had a spot in my gaming library. I picked this game up on a lark, and because there's not a whole lot of choices right now on the PS4. I didn't expect to enjoy the game, just tool around with it a bit and go back to playing Killzone, however I found myself quickly hooked on this game!

It's made by the same folks who did the Mortal Kombat games(And in fact has 1 MK character in it..Scorpion), so you know the game is polished. The graphics are absolutely incredible and will make your eyes melt with pleasure!

So, what's so great about this game? Too much to list, but I will try and list a few! Most charactered have several different costume options/skins, so you can wear a classic superman outfit, or superman from the current movie costume. You can wear a classic batman outfit, or his outfit from Arkham city, You can be Classic Green Arrow, or "The Hood"/Arrow from the series. There are a lot of costumes.

Also, the arenas are interactive, and will become damaged as you have your superbrawl. you can also interact with items around the arena. There's not TOO many arenas, but enough to give you a variety of choices. I hope more arenas get released as DLC.

The best thing though, is the story mode. Now, I am not a big fan of fighters, so I am not sure if it's common or not, but this game has a full featured campaign mode, which is basically cutscenes connecting to a pre-determined arena battle. It's an enjoyable story as well, and I couldn't stop playing.

Once the campaign is done, the funs not over though, since there's STARS Missions, Multiplayer Arenas and Single player arena battles(Which should just basically be practice for multiplayer mode).

What an amazing buy!

So I bought this controller so that I could help my friends create a "Mk14" clan, where we all just ran around with mods and got people angry and stuff. After much research on the market, I had my sights set on an Evil Controller, but to my dismay, their controllers were a little out of my budget. Having tried my friend Sam's Evil Controller, I can say that those are of high quality. So I was a little disappointed when I saw the price tag. Hoping that Amazon might have them at a cheaper price, I came here to search for a modded controller. After a couple days of window browsing and reading reviews, I bought this one and, believe me, I could not have been happier with my choice.

This controller is sleek and pretty. The color buttons are colored black and look very stylish. Honestly, if you don't know where the A,X,B,Y buttons are by now, then you're not playing Xbox enough so there really is no detriment in taking away the corny colors. The triggers are pretty standard, no difference noted so far. The bumpers are also equally as responsive. But I think people will be happy with the directional pad. It is less clunky than your standard Xbox controller, an important feature to have when selecting which killstreak to activate mid-game and also a bonus for other games you might play.

Where the controller stood out to me were the lights. The thumbsticks and the home button both light up. They are a nice, strong set of colors. My only complaint here is that the home button does not feel nearly as nice as the original, metallic home button. I understand they did this so that the light would show through much better, but it always nags me in the back of my mind whenever I hit the button to join a party online. It's a small voice that says, "Man, that feels so cheap." But, of course, it is quickly shoved aside once gameplay commences and you turn on the mod.

Should you order this product, as with all GenuisModz controllers, it will ship in a very professional looking box. In fact, I saved the box simply because of how nice it looks along with its manual. The manual is aesthetically pleasing AND informative. There is nearly no room for confusion when reading the manual's instructions, and once you give it a look over or two, you probably won't ever be needing it again. Customizing the mod is pretty easy indeed.

And for my final comment, the mod button seems fine. I've always liked mods that have an extra button. Never liked using the sync button to shuffle through the mods either and GeniusModz did the right thing, I think, in adding a button on the backside in a convenient area that is easy to reach but will not interfere with the manner in which you hold the controller.

Overall, it's a great buy. You won't be disappointed.

I am updating my previous review. Genius mods did get a new working controller to me. A little later than I hoped but my brother is happy it works great and looks amazing. I ordered this as a gift For my brother. I received it and tested it out to make sure it worked. I placed new batteries in it and it turned on and synced up with my xbox 360. I was testing out how the thumbsticks and guide buttons changed colors, the guide button did not work. After a few minutes it did(and the LED's look great very cool) however it turned off and did not turn back on. I tried different batteries nothing the thumbsticks light the rapid fire buitton lights but it will no turn on. I contacted customer service who is hard to reach, and left a email, vm and face book message. THey advised me to send it back. I had to go to the post office pay to send it back (they did reimburse me) I provided them a tracking number and asked them to send a replacement overnight so I could get it to my brother for his bday. They assured me they would send a new one once they received the old one. I sent it on a Tuesday and they received it on Thursday. I did receive a working controller a little later than I wanted but it does work great and I appreciate there help with the situation.

Honest reviews on Drop shot, Auto-aim, Jitter Xbox 360 Modded Controller COD MW3

The pictures of this controller do not do it justice. It's gotten to the point where I almost always use this controller to play. I have a bunch of modded controllers already but this one is so fun to use at night. The leds pop and everytime I get a knife kill it switches color. The mods on these controllers have already been my favorite as I have a few using this particular program. I've been getting from this seller for awhile and they seem to have taken their controllers to the next level. The controllers now come in these really professional looking boxes with these giant colored instruction manuals. But the problem now is that in the manual there are examples of other controllers they make and now I want more styles. But I think whatever controllers I get from now on are gonna have to have these LED kits in them.

I've had a few modded controllers, and this is my current favorite. I love the LEDs in the thumbsticks and guide button, they really set off the controller. The LEDs can change colors as well! I didn't know how to turn them on at first, so I called the company and they explained it to me. Excellent customer service. For those who are wondering, the LEDs turn on by holding the sync button (this turns on the guide LED) and for the thumbsticks you hold the right thumbtsick and they turn on. To change the colors you tap the sync (to change the guide LED color) and you click the thumbsticks to change the thumbstick LED color. The colors are great since you can mix and match to whatever you like, definitely keeps the style of the controller fresh since you can change the color each time you play!

Mod was easy to use, came with a nice booklet and everything. Very professional. I definitely recommend this mod to anyone.

I am a die hard WRC fan stuck here in the states. I have played the Dirt games but they just don't have enough actual rally courses in them. They keep going back to the stadium events, which are alright but they get old rather quick. This on the other hand... OUTSTANDING! I feel like I have actually been in a race though after playing this though. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is a die hard rally fan like myself. The game offers so many levels of customization that it is just insane. The only gripe I have about it would be the cheesy music, but you can always turn it off or down in the options menu. Other than that I think this game is great, I just wish we could get updates or downloadable content for it here in the states.

This is a very good racer. Bear in mind I have 120+ hours of all Dirt games combined, all of which I liked very much. The graphics in this game are not as good as the later Dirt titles, more like the first DIRT, but the longer stages and rally only racing make it worth it for me. After 1 one race of 3-4 stages of 4+ minutes each, I actually felt like I had been in a race.

Also worthy of note, is that anyone thinking of getting this in the US, it does work! I live in TX, have a NTSC Xbox 360 and it works just fine, even though it says PAL on the box. If you like racing for racing sake , in particular rally racing, then this is a good buy.

I will be putting in many more hours with this one for sure.

I was unsure as to how deep this game would be after seeing some reviews giving it low scores. I love the dirt games but hated Dirt 3 for being so X-gamey. WRC 2 is strictly rally driving. No stadium lame Gymkana crap making do pointless circles. Just off road racing on 78 of the world's tracks. Great control and damage models on the cars. The garage side of the game blew me away. You have to hire people to handle your repairs, find sponsors, Manage the team and many more, and all your crew can earn experience to make your car handle better. The only downside is the graphics are little unpolished, but to be honest, with controls like this, and the best in car camera view i have ever seen, it's a minor gripe. GET THIS GAME and SUPPORT WRC :)

One night a week I will take a shower, but I missed it last week because I was so caught up in this game.

It's better than all the Dirt games combined.

My grandma was pretty ticked at me as that night as well due to the fact that my friends were utilizing the wheel chair ramp she uses to get into into her trailer for our BMX bike jumps. We have a competition next week at the skate park we are training for. My friends and I have the advantage over the high school kids because we are in our mid-thirties except for Dwayne who he is forty-two.

After many of the 'Tycoon' style games that have been popular over the last few years, the reigning king was a simple family style game called Roller Coaster Tycoon. After two successful expansion packs, developer Chris Sawyer waited well over a year to launch Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. The sequel is based on a no brainer..."Build it and they will come". Seeing that the first game and its expansions still sell well, Infogrames already has a large base of built in fans looking for more of the same, but will these fans love '2', and will this attract new fans? Time will tell.

Overall, the look and feel of the game remains relatively the same. A 3D isometric overhead view allows players to build a theme park from scratch and carry it through pre-defined scenarios. These scenarios have conditions such as have a park rating of X by year Y or have X guests by year Y or build N coasters of type T with an excitement factor of X.

The game ships with about 25 scenarios that are grouped in categories of difficulty: easy, advanced, expert, and Real Parks. The website RollercoasterTyccon2.com promises to have future downloadable scenarios, and one major enhancement over the original game is the inclusion of a scenario editor. Players can now create their own parks/games and trade among friends. You can control all variables from size of park, weather, rides available for research and more.

The 'Real Parks' are actual Six Flag parks from around the world that are pretty close to real world counterparts. You can choose to just manage them or alter them at will.

Game enhancements:

1) Park sizes can be double that of the original game and it supports a much higher screen resolution rate.

2) Scenery: All the original scenery from the RCT and its expansions are present as well as new ones including: Pirate, Scary, Medieval, Gears, Wild West, Giant Gardens and more. There are also more fences, water themes, roofs and walls and the ability to stack scenery makes it much easier to create buildings.

3) New rides: Well obviously there are more coasters but also other attractions as well on top of all the originals.

4) Coaster and ride options: There seems to be much more customizations available for coasters including new car types, special banks, queue line options, supports, signs & banners, special track types and more.

5) New shops and stalls: Again, all the originals and more including sun glass hut, ATM's, First Aid station, more food choices.

6) More music options. Many more styles of music can accompany your rides.

7) Coaster construction: Tool here has been revamped and now you can make/test/save/see coasters better than ever.

Now not everything is perfect in this game:

1) Graphics: Even though the screen resolution and park size has increased, the view is still the same as is the graphics engine. While there is more 'eye-candy' per-se, the overall look is still cartoony and has some 'jaggy' issues. Not to mention that hills, waters, mountains still look slightly un-natural as it did in the original.

2) Lack of scenarios that ship. There are only 3 easy scenarios, a handful of advanced, and more expert. This may prove complex for players who never had the first. Hopefully new ones will be available from the official website soon.

3) No major innovations in game play. I'd like to see new objectives, or disasters to overcome, or new behaviors of park guests, mechanics, handymen, mascots...still the same.

The largest adjustment fans of the original will have to make is getting use to the new construction and customization tools. While they have been expanded (a large plus), they have also taken on new 'handling' characteristics which is proving somewhat confusing for me. For old players, it's retraining how to this new interface and sub-menus...lacking in the 1st game. While this new interface does seem to be much more rich and deep, I truly found it wasn't as intuitive as the RCT 1. I was looking for information that seemed to be present in the 1st game easily, now I have to dig to sub-menus I'm not familiar with.

These were some of the reasons I chose o give it 4 stars instead of 5. Something's are just better off simple, not overly complex.

In a nutshell, this game is great. The game looks and plays almost exactly like the original, which involves creating amusment parks and every little detail involved in that process from designing and building the roller coasters, to deciding how much a hot dog should cost.

The major new feature is a scenario editor which allows you to create scenarios from the ground up including the land type and size, the amount of money available to you, and the features available as you play. This is a great addition as it provides the opportunity to create the park of your dreams with no limits, or simply see how well you can re-create your favorite theme park from scratch.

Other new features include a coaster designer, some pre-designed Six Flags parks, and a few new rides/themes/shops. No, there aren't a ton of new rides/themes/shops like many had originally hoped not yet anyway. The game has been built on a very large platform, but has not been fully utilized in an obvious effort to release many future expansion packs. The original Roller Coaster Tycoon had two expansion packs; no doubt the sequel hopes to provide even more.

Overall, this is still the most addictive game ever created. It provides literally hours upon hours of non-stop enjoyment. A MUST for anyone with a love for theme parks and/or roller coasters.

Roller Coaster Tycoon was a game that you could easily find yourself playing for hours into the wee hours of the night. The expansion packs added more coasters and rides but little else. Now, Version 2 is out and is it worth buying? I would say yes, but in some ways I was a little disappointed.

On the plus side, there are a TON of rides and new scenery and shops. Far far more than were in the original game. There are a lot more ways you can customize your ride as well, from the usual color choices, to lots of music selections and new entrance and exit choices. There are many more scenerios, which are happily organized into levels so you can start at the beginner level and work your way up. The game supports a higher screen resolution and you can now create your own scenarios and design coasters apart from the game itself.

On the down side, as a previous player I found some things hard to find as they've been moved around and re-organized a bit. I suppose it's fine for new players, and I'm sure I'll get used to it, but in most cases, I really didn't even see the point. I would have liked more coaster and ride designs as well. Really disappointed with how many offer just one selection for a pre-designed ride. There should be at least two I think for every ride.

I also got a bit frustrated with some of the scenarios. You would start working on a park and the rating would go south before you really had time to figure out what the park's problems were, and would be virtually impossible to recover from. Oh well, I guess some people will enjoy the challenge. I just found it annoying.

And the look of the game is basically identical. Guests walking around and riding the rides, very cartoony look to everything, same type of staff options, etc. No real changes to what guests do for instance. I didn't really expect much change from what the box showed, but would have been nice to see more.

Overall, I loved all the new rides and options, but it really is just a lot of the same game. If you loved the original, you'll definitely like this game too. But here's hoping a version 3 will show us a bit more innovation.

Honest reviews on RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 - PC

Essentially this is like another add-on to the previous game in that much of what was in the first RCT is still here plus more. A few of the controls have changed, but Sawyer didn't mess too much with a lot of the graphics. However, the tracks and saved games are not compatible with version one. The improvements read like the wish lists from coaster and gamer sites. Significant is the inclusion of a scenario designer. This makes trading games on-line a reality. Also, a sandbox is included which allows the creation of coasters without having to consider the game aspect. Lastly, an improvement to the track options has been included. Most who have played RCT may have noticed the lack of banking on curved drops. RCT2 allows the banked drops on many of its coasters now.

In terms of expertise, RCT assumes a greater level here in that even the beginner parks ask for what I'd call "tycoon strategy".

This game is sure to keep those whose theme parks are closed for the season happy. Enjoy.

Infogrames decided not to make an expansion pack to Roller Coaster Tycoon, but to make a sequel to the original.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 has tutorials inside the game so for those of you who never played Roller Coaster Tycoon doesn't have to worry. The main feature of Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 is that the map got bigger than the original version. The original version was 128*28 but Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 is 256*56. Basically, it got twice bigger. Also, Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 has lots of themes. You can build your own park using jungle, jurassic, space, or ghost theme. There's even more. You can meet the real roller coasters of Six Flags. For examples, 'Deja Vu', 'Medusa', 'Chang', 'V2', 'X', and 'Titan'. The part that I was disappointed was that it didn't have new brand features. Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 is not different from the original version, except that the graphic got a tiny bit better. If you are one of those fans who love Six Flags and roller coasters, I highly recommend this game.

This is a great product to play your game system on a computer monitor. The picture is great. There IS background noise on the picture that might get a little annoying (I don't really notice it), however, for the price, you really can't ask for a more crisp picture. It's also much smaller than I expected, about 4" x 1.5" by 1". And once you've got it set up, it's extremely easy to use. That said, there are some important things to consider.

*****

THIS IS IMPORTANT: Your monitor MUST be able to run at 1600 x 1200 resolution. You must have a component cable for your system, not a composite. And you must set your system to 480p resolution for it to run. If you don't have ALL of this set up, the system WILL NOT RUN. You will get an image on your monitor telling you that it is out of range.

*****

I had to find this out the HARD way. When I bought the item I didn't have any of these things. Monitors that can run at 1600x1200 are NOT CHEAP but I managed to find a good deal (Less than $200) and had been looking to upgrade from my ancient CRT anyway. The component cable should only cost you about $5 if you don't have one already. The worst part was owning all these things and not knowing that I had to set my system at 480p. This item DOES NOT INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS. I had to email the manufacturer (Hyperkin) to finally get an answer. Fortunately, they got back to me within two days which is relatively quick.

But after all of that trouble, like I said earlier, I couldn't be happier with what this little thing can do. After all that trouble setting it up, it's really easy to use and gets a great picture for a great price. I would have given it 5 stars if it had come with better instructions and if I had been properly warned of everything I would need to get it to work properly

This a dual review of sorts, as I am comparing the VGA 2000 to another product I purchased which I found dissatisfactory: the HD Box Pro.

I am a PS3/Wii owner and I'm too poor at the moment to buy myself a nice HDTV. Seeing as I have a 20 inch Viewsonic PC LCD monitor in my room which rarely ever gets used (since I primarily use my laptop) I figured I'd find myself a good VGA adapter and put it to some good use.

The VGA 2000 by Hyperkin was not my first choice when I was shopping around for VGA adapters. The first one I tried (and luckily did NOT pay full price for, more on this in a minute) was the HK-based HD Box Pro. I did a LOT of research, read a ton of reviews and figured it would do the trick. The HD Box Pro normally goes for almost $75 (that's the unit price including shipping) but I was lucky enough to find a guy getting rid of his on craigslist for $25. So, I picked it up.

Boy... I was glad I didn't pay full price for it.

The positives:

Comes with audio input/output ports so that you can actually use your monitor speakers if you got them (or just use an external audio source)

The unit has MANY different options to tamper with to fit your lcd tv/monitor just right (color, resolution, and aspect ratio)

It comes with a remote control so that you don't have to reach for the function buttons on the device itself.

Sounds great, doesn't it?

The negatives:

It DOES need an external power source (a/c adapter included).

Unfortunately for me, upon hooking my PS3 up to my LCD monitor with the HD Box Pro, the monitor was LITTERED with "static" lines. These lines only got worse with continuous usage.

Next, I tried to contact HD Box Pro support. After emailing them throughout the month of February with NO RESPONSE, I gave up. I had no choice but to find another option.

Then... I found the VGA 2000 here on Amazon.

After reading a decent amount of the other reviews here, I decided this might actually work (not to mention the price was right, being only about $25 including shipping)

One thing I noticed was the size of the VGA 2000 unit. If you have a cable box, it's about the size of a standard DVR remote. And, unlike the HD Box Pro, your audio cables MUST be plugged into an external source. Also, it's powered by USB, so your options are to either plug it into a USB port (cable included), or if you're like me, you can use an old cell phone USB charger as a power adapter.

Now, for it's actual performance...

The VGA does not have the customization options that the HD Box Pro has, but IT WORKS!! As for the resolution, it outputs at 720p max, but the picture is crystal clear with no degradation.

I have tried it with my Wii, PS3 and my Panasonic Blu-Ray player and everything works great.

So... take it from me. I've put in the time and money JUST to get my HD systems running on a decent monitor. And, once I DO get an HDTV, I will DEFINITELY use the VGA 2000 to plug my Wii into its VGA port (as I wouldn't need it with the PS3 since it's got an HDMI port).

Good buy! You won't be disappointed.

i bought this to hook my roommates Wii up to my 19" widescreen Samsung SyncMaster 920nw monitor. after hooking everything up, even the desktop was poor quality. everything had a trail off to the right. I switched it to the Wii and got a message saying that it was an unsupported output and recommended 1440 x 900 at 60 Hz. thats EXACTLY what my monitor is set to. after hooking up the vga box i had the option to bump it up to 1600 x 1200, which is what the box outputs. i tried that and still got the error message. so unless you have a super high-reso monitor, dont buy this. and if you get a monitor with that high a resolution, just buy a 480 or 720p tv and save yourself the trouble of dealing with this box.

It works! My new DVD player uses my PC's flatscreen monitor as its monitor too. And I didn't have to kludge or solder anything at all.

I can use the switch button to flip back and forth between DVD and PC, which lets me pause a DVD and search the web to figure out some relatively obscure reference. (I did have to separately purchase a "USB Adapter" to plug into the wall and provide the power this unit expects to piggypback from the game console I don't have.)

I purchased this to switch between my Dell Desktop and AppleTV. It works great with both SD and HD resolutions. In few cases, I get image shift....but I can go into the screen position settings in the TV and compensate.

For the money, it's worth it over the more expensive one's. AND it's USB powered, so I could have pluged into my ATV or Dell and it'll power on when one of those power on. Genius!

Here are the facts:

Electronic Arts Says:

"Authorization limits

... you are limited to five authorizations. So what's an authorization? The first time you actually run the game on a machine, we will authorize that machine. If you reach the authorization limit, the game will not run on a new machine. If you make major changes to the computer (switching out multiple pieces of hardware, install a new OS, etc.) you might need to reauthorize the machine."

What they don't mention here is that a "major change" to your computer can be quite a bit less than changing out multiple pieces of hardware. In fact, changing a keyboard, mouse, or joystick or any number of USB devices could be regarded as a "major change". Upgrading drivers for you sound or video card might be a major change. The rules are not defined and you will not know for sure what may or may not use up an authorization.

So if you use up all of your Authorizations? Electronic Arts says:

"Just give us a call...

If you had a run of bad luck, some hardware failures, a botched OS install, your notebook was stolen, you spilled a coke on your keyboard you get the idea and all five of your authorizations have been used up, just give us a call. We'll work with you and provide as many additional authorizations as are appropriate."

What they fail to mention here is that calling Electronic Arts for technical support is not free. You will be charged 2.50/minute plus any toll charges.

Now consider the idea that you have bought 5 Electronic Arts games over time and one by one they all run out of authorizations. When the authorizations start running out, do you honestly want to call EA every time you make a hardware change to ask them to allow you to play a game you already paid for? What a hassle!

Please don't buy this game; don't support this kind of DRM scheme. I don't know if this scheme is to prevent used-game resales or if they really believe it makes a dent in piracy. It doesn't matter why, they are going too far and punishing the honest consumer, so it's time to punish their sales.

Regardless of the game's true rating in terms of fun, thrill, excitement I have to recommend one star and suggest you not purchase it, but find an alternative. At the end of the day, however, you know the type of gamer you are and whether the DRM scheme will interfere with you or not.

This is an excerpt of a letter that I have sent to EA regarding RA3. This is my view and while to late to stop this purchase, I will be aware the next time.

Letter to EA regarding Red Alert 3 (RA3):

*****************************************

This past week I took my son to purchase Red Alert 3 for my son. It was nostalgic since I was a big C&C and RA2 fan so many years ago. In fact, I still have the CDs and would reinstall and play them every once in a while. His interest in RA3 came from my RA2 discs, which he's played a few times.

He installed RA3 on his sister's laptop, since his 5 year old Dell doesn't meet the minimum requirements. He's getting a new laptop this Christmas, he's quite happy. His first concern: I only have 4 installs left of RA3. Excuse me? He informed me of the 5 installs per game before requiring additional activations.

Some folks never learn. Or they do it the hard way.

I understand the difficulties of piracy. I am a software developer. But you should take a moment and learn from those that came before you. What will your game fans have to work through when they've installed the game on their numerous reformatted machines and find out that the the game can no longer be installed? Gamers tend to be the ones that constantly restore or reinstall fresh machines to keep the machine in optimal running conditions; removing demos, games no longer played, mods and a handful of other 'wares that end up on a machine after a year. What about when the game is no longer supported by EA, albeit the gaming community has a huge following and wants to continue playing it, but the activation servers are offline?

Am I just renting this game from you? Since I must ask for permission after five installs to install a sixth time it sure seems like it. This would be akin to calling Warner Brothers to allow me watch Batman Return past 10 viewings.

The game is good as expected since I am a fan of this series. And so I am very bias at the same time. The securom is really the culprit in killing the fun for me. The start-up of the game is VERY SLOW. I have a very fast computer with the latest hardware but I guess that's how the securom works. Its a thrill killer. And it conflicts with my firewall too. Such a HASSLE! I feel sorry for the guys who made this when it got packed with this Securom. I haven't bought another game with Securom after this. It's not worth the hassle. It used to be fun when you play this kind of games especially if you BOUGHT it! Now it feels like their meddling in my computer's system as well. Somehow, it feels wrong.

Honest reviews on Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Premier Edition - PC

Okay, DRM is bad and all, and this public marketing campaign needs to keep up-it's the ONLY thing getting these companies to reconsider using it. However, this is more about the game..

Gameplay: 1/5. The controls and interface, along with the rock-paper-scissors units are well suited to casual console gamers. The general powers were overpowered and the economy in the game was the only thing keeping these games from lasting more than 5 minutes.

The building on water, while supposed to add a new aspect to gameplay, is a nuisance combined with overall inefficacy of defense buildings and poor economy. In other words, the only viable gameplay types are rushing and land grabbing.

Storyline: 2/5. The story is mostly recycled from red alert 1 and 2, with some slight creativity but mostly stereotypical asian empire/dynasty team using stereotypical japanese giant robots. Most of it was literally pulled off of red alert 1 and 2.

Graphics: 2/5. The graphics were bright, cartoony, and obnoxious. Red alert, while it had humor, was never obnoxious like this. It's unfortunate at best, and for me it actually caused eyestrain even with gamma and contrast tweaks. Boo.

Multiplayer: 1/5. The co-op campaign is for online play only, no LAN play supported. Why? It's apparently an attempt to curb piracy, but some dedicated hackers are making it work. Normal online matches are all rush games with no strategy.

Music: 3/5. I feel this is worth mentioning because they managed to convince frank klepacki to come back and compose for red alert 3. Unfortunately it looks like they really heavily interfered with his creative process, and much of the music feels forced or obnoxious, such as the title music. Hell march 3 was a complete and utter disappointment, it was 2 with new instruments.

Overall: 1/5, +1 star of franchise loyalty, 2/5.

Unfortunately this game is lacking in everything that a game bearing the 'command and conquer' name should have. It's catering towards console gamers, balanced to simplistic 'rock paper scissors' players, and advertised as a strategy game.

The graphics are annoying, the music is annoying, the characters are always presented in a 'look at their chest!' way, and the storyline is lacking.

If it weren't bad enough that this game was ridiculously easy on 'normal' settings, the co-op campaign with a friend doesn't work over LAN, meaning no hamachi if EA's servers don't co-operate with you.

And lastly this game uses DRM that restricts your ability to resale it. That's right, you cannot sell your used copy of this game. When you register your CD-key to your account, it's yours for 5 installs, then you get to call EA. I hope you've heard this enough times.

Buyer be warned, bargain bin material.

I really miss Westwood, and I loved loved loved Red Alert 2! So Red Alert 3 had some big shoes to fill. Unfortunately, the latest game doesn't quite live up to those expectations for a lot of different reasons.

Firstly, the DRM I bought this game about a year after it was first released. When I tried to deauthorize the game, the server could not be connected to. So there's a very real danger that people could buy this game and are unable to authenticate it because EA have screwed up their servers.

Secondly, rather than being a direct sequel, EA's new storyline completely erases the events of the first two games. I think they could've easily introduced the Empire of the Rising Sun without erasing Westwood's original storyline. Part of Westwood's charm was their utilizing Einstein as the B-Grade Mad Scientist. It's almost as though by erasing Einstein, EA are symbolically removing any spontaneity or fun from the game. As a result, I think Red Alert 3 takes itself a bit too seriously. There's none of the nudge nudge wink wink from both the actors and developers that made Red Alert 2 so much fun. The only actor who really gets it is JK Simmons, who plays the US President.

The game design doesn't seem to encourage the kind of insane tactics that made RA2 so special. I wouldn't dream of capturing a Soviet and Allied construction yard and wasting money on building rows and rows of Prism and Tesla towers (ahem). Or packing Tesla troopers into IFV's and using them to electrocute an entire base. Or producing packs of dogs just to kill an entire squad of Russian Conscripts...only to be run over by Soviet tanks. Ah! The memories!

And that is this game's biggest problem Westwood and its legacy cast a long shadow. EA developing Red Alert 3 is akin to a Cover Band playing the Beatles greatest hits. The sound and fury might be there but the charisma, charm and insane daring of the original is missing. If EA really wanted to do us a favour, they'd create a REAL time machine, go back in time and stop themselves from disbanding Westwood. Can you imagine Red Alert 3 or C&C 4 produced by the REAL Westwood? Now that'd be games worth playing!
