I ordered mine from another retailer online yesterday with 1 day shipping. I got it in this evening and I must say this is one fantastic collection on the PC that never gets boring. There are a few buyer beware points that need to be made before you purchase this:

1. The game is a DVD-ROM version for the North American Release, not a CD-ROM as shown on the box and disc label. Sega did not change the packaging and this may lead to many unhappy people that this game does not work in their machine.

2. The localization for this version of the game seems to be the European Localization and not the North American Localization found on the XBOX and Playstation 2. Sonic 3D Blast is known as Flickies Island in this compilation. Shows MegaDrive Icons too next to each game.

3. The roms they use in this compilation seem to be the PAL versions , as shown in the file folder directories.

4. The XBOX 360 Controller for Windows, and any controller that does not have dual analog sticks will not function properly in Sonic Mega Collection Plus and will exhibit behavior as if the DPAD is stuck in one direction. A controller such as the Logitech Dual Action or Rumblepad 2 will work just fine. There may be other dual analog ones that work fine too.

On the plus side, you can save an unlimited amount of save games for the classic games something that had a limitation in the XBOX and PS2 versions of these games.

Overall I am satisfied with my purchase and reccomend this to anyone who has wanted to play this game before but do not own a PS2 or XBOX and could not play it before....

Finally, the games that established SEGA in the home console market are available for the PC. Included are Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 3-D, Sonic Spinball, along with various Game Gear games. There are unlockable extra games as well.

The graphics look rather out of date on today's HD monitors, but the colours still look vibrant. The sound is exactly the same, although it pails in comparison to the surround sound available on many modern games.

Bonus features include comic book covers and character designs as well as all the original game manuals.

Overall a decent collection for any Sonic fan or anyone harking back to a simpler time.

Ah, Sonic. How well so many of us remember that little blue blur. How many of us are gamers becuase of Sonic, and other stars of the 16 bit era? In this terrific value bundle, you get an excellent assortment of classic Genesis, and Game Gear Sonic games. Included are: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Spinball, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, plus 6 of the original 12 Game Gear Sonic games (Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic Drift, Sonic Chaos, Sonic Blast, and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine). There are also unlockable games, but I won't spoil it for anyone. For the record, Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut contains all 12 Game Gear titles as unlockable mini-games, and remains readily available for PC, PS2, and Gamecube.

In general, the games are visibly dated, and simplistic comparatively speaking to modern games, but have been nicely re-mastered, and look sharp and vibrant. The sound can't compare to modern games either of course, but is just as you remember it, and even sounds good with surround speakers. Native gamepad support is included (but no rumblepad support), and the button layout is customizable. Keyboard controls are customizable (the mouse is not used), but I don't use them, and can't speak to how intuitive, or well implemented they are. I use, and strongly recommend a dual analog gamepad since this game prefers, and plays best with one. Also, please be aware that this game will require an older type, DirectInput gamepad (like the Logitech Dual Action, or Rumblepad 2 for example) for full, and proper gamepad support. Even if the game will recognize an X-Box 360 controller for Windows, there is a good chance it will not behave correctly since the game pre-dates, and therefore does not support Xinput. The game's system specs are modest, and it seems stable and well behaved. On the down side, there are a few bizarre omissions like Sonic CD, Sonic R, Sonic and Tails 2, and Knuckles Chaotix. Perhaps most significantly for hardcore fans, it does not contain Sonic CD, or Sonic 3 and Knuckles, the classic Genesis two cartridge lock-on game. Their absence is disappointing since they were fan favorites, but in the case of Sonic 3 and Knuckles, the lock-on feature enabled certain features like exclusive cutscenes, and Super Emeralds which are probably difficult or impossible to replicate through emulation, so that could offer a partial explanation for it's absence. Unless it was an issue of inadequate space on the DVD, I can see no good reason for Sonic CD's exclusion, but I guess this is forgivable given that the old Expert Software PC version (which avid Sonic fans will most likely have anyway) is still readily available, and runs fine on Win Vista/Win 7 with a user-created compatibility fix which is just as readily available on numerous fan/tribute sites and forums.

Lacking a jewel case, presentation quality isn't anything to brag about either, but that isn't uncommon for a low budget value title these days, so you can't smack it around too much for that. However, in-game presentation is much better, and you get plenty of extras like original concept art, character designs, and comic book clips, along with a PDF containing each game's original user manual. The game does include a user manual (for once), and in it, the games are laid out chronologically, and each game is pictured with it's original box cover, a brief plot summary, date of launch, and a couple of screenshots. The game has also been spruced up a bit with a save function, modernized front end menu, and in-game interface. Another aspect of this bundle's appeal is that even though there are user-created compatibility fixes available for most of them, older Sonic PC ports are often incompatible with newer operating systems; whereas these are XP/Vista/Win 7 compatible, and don't fuss when you try to play them, or demand scouring the internet for a compatibility fix. There have been some reports of Vista and Win 7 users having trouble running this game even in compatibility mode, but I haven't personally encountered these problems. At worst, I've only had to run the game's installer in compatibility mode to get it to install correctly, and use Vista compatibility mode for the game to run. The headline here though is that PC Sonic fans have never had a better chance to rack up on so many old school Sonic games all at once. Make no mistake: this is the best Sonic value bundle the PC has seen in years, and PC Sonic fans won't want to miss this. All said and done, I'm satisfied with my purchase, and am going to give Sonic Mega Collection Plus a good grade with minor dings for the low production values.

UPDATED EDIT: Sonic Mega Collection Plus is Windows Vista/Windows 7 compatible.

Honest reviews on Sonic Mega Collection Plus - PC

Playing these games for hours on the Genesis is one of my fondest memories, and playing them again is good indeed. This collection comes with Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, and Sonic and Knuckles. It does NOT contain Sonic 3 and Knuckles, the classic two cartridge lock-on game. This means that you do not gain the advantages of having the lock-on ability, like certain cutscenes and the ability to get the Super Emeralds. You can still obtain regular chaos emeralds twice however, in Sonic 3 and then Sonic and Knuckles.

One advantage of getting this collection is that it is an emulator that has a save function, so you can stop and continue at any time, and play those Chaos emerald missions over and over if necessary. This collection does seem to have a Sonic running speed problem though, he seems to accelerate and run about 4/5 of normal, but everything else is the same (I double checked with online videos). According to other reviews there is a patch available, but I was unable to find in on Sega's website, probably due to the age of this game.

If you want to play your favorite Sonic games again, then this collection will let you do that.

Compatibility: On Windows 7 64-bit I was able to get this game to run in compatibility mode for Vista Service Pack 2.

I've always loved the old school Sonic games. I've played and beat them countless times and never really get tired of doing so. That's why it's so nice to have them all compiled on a single disc. This collection also includes the Sega Game Gear games, debug cheats, and some bonus character and comic artwork and video clips. My only real problem with Sonic Mega Collection Plus is the required hours of game play needed to unlock certain games. Seems a bit much and can be a little frustrating. Other than that, it's totally worth the buy!

Review of The Lord Of The Rings: Conquest - Xbox 360

This review is based on having completed the "War of the Ring" campaign in single and multiplayer co-op and some limited time spent on multiplayer. I have not yet completed the "Rise of Sauron" campaign so cannot comment on it, though I suspect it will very much resemble the gameplay and mechanics of the first campaign.

Overall, I rate this game a 4. It is an action/strategy game in the vein of Star Wars: Battlefront. You take on the role of a warrior, archer, scout, or mage in some of the famous battles of LOTR history. If you play well enough, you may get the opportunity to play a "hero" character, which is essentially a buffed up counterpart to the "grunts" that you normally play and can turn the tide of battle. Playable heroes include Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli in the War of the Ring campaign. It has the film license and therefore uses scenes and voices from Peter Jackson's trilogy. However, it only loosely follows the story, as the focus in LOTR:C is on conquering certain areas or accomplishing objectives which may or may not jive with the original story.

It is a great improvement over the last gen contributions allowing for a little more strategy and replayability. The "alternate history" campaign is a clever addition that may irritate Tolkien purists but allows for a sense of anticipation and mystery to see how the designers have imagined a world overrun by the forces of Sauron.

Graphics = 3.5

Not top notch by any stretch, but when you consider (as other reviewers have mentioned) that the game has been designed to allow for 150 characters on-screen at once acting independently, they look pretty good. I was a little disappointed at the panoramic/overhead shots of the battlefields and fortresses leading into each mission. Although they capture the essence of the films, they seem blocky and not as detailed as I would have expected for a next-gen game. Character models look good, though I had difficulty in some missions identifying orcs/evil humans from further away. Movement and combat animations are nice but it is noticeable early on that characters of the same class always move in the same way (Grima Wormtongue is a buffed up scout, Aragorn is a buffed up warrior, etc.). In general, the battlefields are beautiful and relatively expansive, especially Pelennor Fields, and are literally full of activity, giving the impression of an epic battle happening around you.

Sound = 4

Don't spend much time appreciating sound but it seemed appropriate. The soundtrack is straight from the films which is nice. The voice of Elrond telling me the objective every 30 seconds was a little annoying at times, but actually did serve well when I got holed up the first time through the campaign and needed to redirect my efforts.

Gameplay = 4

This game is fun. Each class has its own set of strengths and weaknesses and seem to be balanced fairly well. A mage is deadly from a distance and can heal his comrades but won't last long if confronted by a warrior with a flaming sword. An archer has powerful arrows with area affects that are very useful, but become limited and quickly overwhelmed if enemies get too close. Warriors are sufficiently powered for up close combat and have several devastating moves that can eliminate multiple foes at once. They can also take more hits and are in general harder to stumble and kill. Scouts are a little more specialized. They have good melee skills and can string 8 moves together into a fairly effective combo but their real beauty is the ability to become invisible and "backstab", resulting in a one-hit kill. They are more fragile than warriors, however, and cannot take as many direct hits.

The game is essentially objective based. The player is presented with a wide open battlefield where enemies and allies will continue to respawn until objectives are completed. The player has a limited number of "lives" or respawns, before the game will register a defeat; these lives are gradually replenished as major objectives are completed. Exhausting all of your respawns is not the only way to lose a scenario, however. There are also times when a particular area needs to be "held" as a counter ticks down to the arrival of reinforcements or some other in-game event. The failure to hold this area and getting overrun will also end the scenario in defeat.

Winning a scenario involves completing objectives which may include conquests (capturing certain areas on the map), assassinations (eliminating a particularly nasty enemy hero), or sabotage (destroying enemy fortifications or siege engines). These objectives must be completed by the player, as the AI controlled allies will fight and support fairly well but do little else.

One bug that I noticed involved the siege of Isengard. At one point in the mission, you are given the opportunity to control Ents. It just so happened that my Ent was on the receiving end of a couple of flaming arrows and went down fairly quickly. I respawned as a warrior and noticed that all the Ents had been activated but only one or two were actively fighting in the battle zone. The others were either motionless or on the outskirts of the battle fighting with no apparent contribution to the objective, which was to capture a particular area. Without the Ent support, the area to capture was completely overrun. I tried through about five lives to clear the area sufficiently to capture and could never do so. This only happened once, however. Related to this, you will sometimes find that the AI will send a surge of support to the wrong area, leaving you solo to accomplish an objective. This led to my defeat more than once, but I found that the AI would behave differently when I started over and I would find repeat attempts easier to complete.

I spent little time in multiplayer but found it to be fun. It would be nice to have more than 8 vs. 8 to give the battles a more epic feel. No lag, and the battles seem fairly balanced when the characters involved are the standard picks. However, there are no ranking or matchmaking systems to speak of and I'm still at a loss as to how you can play as a hero character. I recall that my buddy and I entered a multiplayer match to find that we were only given the option to select the typical grunts but were fighting against heroes. Of course we lost badly and I couldn't figure out how the game would allow for this type of matchup. Maybe a question that another reviewer can answer.

Replay value = 3.5

The good and evil campaigns will give most gamers a total play time of 8-10 hours. I can't imagine wanting to replay the single player campaigns more than once or twice, but maybe to unlock achievements or conquer the game at a higher difficulty level. The multiplayer could definitely present additional replay value, but based on my experience there would need to be the addition of a matchmaking system and quality downloaded content to keep the game fresh and entertaining.

Bottom line: Rent it or try the demo on Live. You definitely won't regret that. If you're looking for a quality game in the LOTR franchise with some promising multiplayer potential, go ahead and pick it up. Just keep in mind that the campaigns alone are probably not worth the $60 price tag.

I will give Evil Arts some credit. LotR is one of the very few movie licensed games that do rather well and just doesn't suck because it's a movie tie in. As far as LotR:C is concerned, it's a good winter game that came out after all the great titles came within the last 2 months.

Is it as memorable as the movie based games that came out on the last gen systems?

No.

And sadly to say, this almost has a twinge of too little too late.

Meaning that had this game had been released around the same time the movie titles had come out or around the same time when BF:1942 was popular this title would easily had been a 4 start title but now that these types of games have advanced so much in game mechanics, it's hard to play this game without feeling like you want more.

The game is pretty much a button masher with some elements of capture and defend a point.

You can change your character at will and use lots of combos.

And when you have done enough of the primary tasks, you get to use a hero like Aragorn, Gimily etc...you get the idea.

Graphically speaking the game looks pretty good, the character designs are done pretty well altho there can be some issues with the framerate when a whole lot going on onscreen. All of the backdrops are done wonderfully as if you are playing those scenes from the movies.

The control is pretty straightforward as I stated, this is a button masher so once you go thru the tutorial you should have the conrol downpat.

Soundwise, it's almost a dream...from Helm's Deep to the Pellenor Fields, with the sound of battle and Howard Shore's soundtrack, you almost feel as if you are there.

SO where does it all go wrong?

"been there done that" feel...and some of this gets repetitive after a while and when you get the Hero Character, it's a buffed up version of your grunt.

Still buggy I had to reload the Helm's Deep stage because after I killed a certain group of creatures, the game didn't move to the next objective and after killing hordes of Uruks for 15 mins I realized that I had to start over because...

Lack of clear directions the game is not all that great at always telling you when you have completed objective A or where exactly at Point B you need to be and I think this may have been a bug or something Pandemic overlooked when putting this game together which also leads to

Faulty multiplayer modes getting into a game is easy but not all games are....I was playing mode where you had to move the Ring from one side of the battle area to the other. One thing I did not like and I am not sure if this was a bug or if this was intentional (since sometimes the ring wants to get lost) if a character dies while carrying the ring, you can't find on the map where it is.

Another issue that may not be good for multiplayer is since a lot of games have hopped on to that bandwagon, there is no way (as far as I have seen) to level your character up as CoD has spoiled many gamers with being able to do this...without this mode, this game may leave some gamers wanting more.

Overall if you a fan of LotR, it's a no brainer game but playing this almost makes me wish that another RPG (and not an MMORPG) or something with more substance was released. Not that this game isn't any fun, but it may not capture mine or anyone's attention for too long besides completing it.

3 out of 5 stars.-

Bought this game for one of my sons. He loves it and so does his older brother. They both loved the movie series, and the game plays into that interest. They are ages 14 and 15, and I would recommend it to others looking for a good game for their teenage kids if their kids like this genre of game.

The game is very difficult to find, so what I recommend is buying an 8 GB flashdrive, and downloading the game straight to the flashdrive. It will only cost you 1200 Microsoft Points (equivalent to $15.00) instead of chancing getting a bad disc. So spend the money on a flashdrive and directly download. On the other side, the game is 100% worth the money, to lovers of the LotR series and to people who just love a fun game! So buy the flashdrive, download the game and have a great time!!! :)

PROS:

Appearance:

-The general appearance of the mouse itself is very good; it definitely looks quality. The LED lights look pretty awesome. The 3D "bumpy" paint on the mouse is well done and doesn't look cheap at all. It's so realistic that when I opened the box and exposed the mouse my brother said "it has a defect, they made it bumpy."

-The box is nice, has a magnetic cover in front which one can lift to see the mouse

-The metallic weights and box also look nice, although I won't be seeing much of them

-The wire is braided black and blue and goes well with the blue dpi lights

Functionality:

-Tracking is excellent and works well on all surfaces I tried (including carpet/rug)

-The pads/feet on the mouse are smooth and result in little friction when using the mouse

-Ergonomics are pretty good; it is not evident from the pictures but the sides of the mouse are coated with a matte-like finish--not quite rubber, but still enough for a decent grip when using the mouse. The shape of the mouse fits the hand relatively well, and works for both palm and claw grips.

-The clickers are solid and click with the perfect amount of finger pressure

-The mouse wheel is quiet and turns with the perfect amount of pressure

-The mouse works (LEDs, all buttons, etc) right after it's plugged it in; the CD only has to be installed to program the mouse with other functions

CONS:

Appearance:

NONE

Functionality:

-MAJOR!!!: The software is good, but it doesn't adjust DPI all the way to 8200; it stops at 5000.

In the software, there are three ways to change DPI: a slider bar, clicking the up and down arrows next to the DPI text box, and manually entering the DPI in said text box. The slider bar is buggy (doesn't point to the DPI it's supposed to) and only lands on 500/1000/1500/2000/3000/4000/5000 DPI, the up and down arrows only bring the DPI to those same numbers, and manually entering the DPI I want only changes the DPI to the numbers above. It was a bummer that I couldn't manually enter the 800 DPI I'm used to for some games (if you look at the product description on the Perixx site, the DPI for the MX3000 reads 500-8200 rather than #/#/#/#/#/#/# like it does for its other mice, making me believe that I could adjust it to a specified amount I wanted), but at the very least, this mouse should perform at the advertised DPI range. Upon further inspection, I realized that the 500/1000/1500/2000/3000/4000/5000 DPI range is for the MX2000, so it appears that Perixx recycled some of their older-model software for this mouse. Hopefully a software patch can be released so customers can play at advertised DPI levels. I'm not taking off a star for this, but you may be bothered by the current range.

-DPI +/button has awkward positioning. Also, I noticed that it doesn't seem to perfectly fit in its slot, because when I press +DPI and then -DPI right after, the button clicks twice--once (minor) when it goes to the middle, and another when it goes to the minus side. The mouse only registers the second click though, so it's not terrible, just an annoyance. Note that this doesn't happen when going from to +. I'm not sure if this is a defect with my particular mouse or all of them.

-The middle mouse wheel is a bit difficult to click, but I'm adjusting to this

OTHER:

-Though not necessarily apparent, the shape of this mouse is for right-handers only

-The LED DPI indicators are always blue, regardless of what color the side LEDs are set. The scroll wheel does not light up, as a couple of the pictures may make it seem; rather, the inside of the mouse lights up to color the side LED lights, and a bit of this light leaks through the wheel hole.

-The wheel does not scroll side-to-side

This mouse fits really well with my hand and grip. I like the button placements. My only major gripe, is it tracks movement even when its lifted off the mousepad more than a 1/2 inch. I play with fairly low sensitivity so I pickup and move the mouse some for larger movements and it is tracking my backswipe unless I excessively lift it off the mat.

Update: I contacted perixx and they said would pass this info along to their design team to improve it. I ended up returning this mouse and buying a Razer Deathadder which has a setting for mouse lift right in the software. Really like it so far.

Update 2: Perixx responded saying their future mice will have a 2mm liftoff.

Let's face it: even as collector's editions go the one for Halo Reach is unusually expensive. It's easily twice the price of those I've seen for other games. Yet this is honestly the first time I've ever felt that a game's special edition was well worth the money. No matter how impressive the Legendary Edition might look in the pictures, seeing the real thing in person is simply astonishing. Bungie went all out when it came to this product.

First is the size. It's huge. The whole box is about 14" x 15" x 12". That may not sound like a lot on paper and that is possibly the problem. I've seen frag box computers that are smaller. The weight is equally impressive; I was astonished when the UPS driver handed it to me. A friend of mine sent his wife to pick up his pre-order through a local retailer today and warned her ahead of time that she wasn't going to be prepared for how big it was. A few minutes later she called him -shocked by the size, despite his warning.

Once you actually open the box, though, is when the real magic begins. Yes, the figurine/statuette is big and beautiful but in some ways it's eclipsed by the little details tucked away everywhere. There are "hand written" notes from the person who tracked down these artifacts and shipped them to you. There's a notebook bound with heavy string that contains pages upon pages of research notes. ID cards, data cards, an embroidered Noble Team service patch, maps, biometric data -you name it, this package has it. You really feel like you're poring over a slice of history. (A second friend received his copy at work today. All afternoon he had people coming to his desk to enviously take a look at the package's contents.)

As for the game, it's every bit as fun as can be expected from previous games -this, coming from a person who usually shies away from first-person shooters. In many ways it's also a lot more open. As an example, at one point I accidentally got split off from the friends I was playing with. Not sure how to catch up with them again I struck out in a direction that seemed promising. It actually led me to a Covenant outpost where I started picking off the enemy, clearing out the building with such tactics as happily firing into it with a rocket launcher that I'd found. After about 15 minutes of that, the storyline led my friends back around to where I was and all hell broke loose. Sure, I'd missed a bit of what they were doing but I also made a big difference at a key point.

I also have to say that the graphics are astonishing. The new engine truly outdoes itself. There are times when the Xbox can't quite meet its demands, leading to a briefly stuttering frame rate but this is easily overlooked. The world is just too beautiful and epic-feeling to nitpick. Especially since I've often seen worse issues in games that didn't begin to compare visually.

If you can still find a Legendary or Limited edition of Reach, by all means get it. I can't imagine anyone regretting this purchase.

Writing a review for the Legendary Edition of Halo: Reach is difficult, because there's a lot to talk about. Here's a quick rundown of everything that you get, in terms of packaging:

-Comes in a large printed cardboard box, styled like in-game crates.

-Right on top is a hand-written note (actually printed), which seems to be a message between in-universe characters regarding the shipping of this crate, and you're down the rabbit hole.

-Right below the note is a guide to assembling a few bits on your Noble Team Statue, and instructions on how to remove the statue from the box without damaging it.

-There's a large and incredibly detailed statue of Noble Team included, which is absolutely breath-taking.

-And you get the whole Collector's edition of the game.

Inside the Collector's Edition:

-The game, in a normal Xbox 360 game case.

-A journal, ostensibly from the character Dr. Hallsey, who is central in the Halo series' plot. This book is absolutely gorgeous. The spine is sewn, and the book has a magnetic clasp. The pages are filled with intricate insights into the Halo universe, and there's a pocket in back stuffed with additional materials. Some of the additional materials include a real cloth Noble Team iron-on patch, and a map of Planet Reach with annotations as to major story points.

When you finally fire up the game:

-Reach's singleplayer campaign is incredible. Every mission is something new, from outright slugfest going toe-to-toe with the Covenant, to driving missions, to new space combat missions. Everything is wonderfully presented and fun. You can also play Campaign in 4-player co-op.

-Firefight mode, wherein you face wave after wave of increasingly difficult enemies. This mode is loaded with customizable options, and can be played over Xbox Live like all the other modes.

-Multiplayer, which includes everything from ranked deathmatch playlists to king of the hill games to capture the flag to who even knows what? Bungie rotates these lists frequently, so things are always fresh.

-Forge 2.0, the highly improved map editor that was so flexible in Halo 3 that players invented whole new gametypessome of which became standardized for Halo: Reach (such as Zombie/Infection). Forge has improved massively, and the possibilities are endless.

And that's not all!

-A new Armory system allows you to gain credits with everything you do, from playing Campaign to online multiplayer. Spend your credits to unlock visual flair for your Spartan (cosmetic only), and even different voices for your character to use in Firefight mode. The most expensive items will reward the stalwart player who keeps coming back.

In short, there is a LOT of content in the Halo: Reach Legendary edition. The price at launch was absolutely worth it. The Noble Team statue is a centerpiece in my Halo collection now, right beside the SPARTAN helmet from the Halo 3 Legendary Edition. The game itself is rocking fun, and an incredibly appropriate farewell to the series since Bungie has sworn this is their last Halo title (at least for now). There's so much extra content that this space is too short to cover it all. If you are a Halo fan, this is the ultimate edition of Bungie's ultimate game.

Halo: Reach Circa 2010

GOOD:

Tried and true (Halo) FPS experience that many other games have copied over the years.

Great Co-op Gameplay allows up to four players to go through the entire game from start to end.

Great graphics which look way better than that of Halo 3 and ODST; also there are a lots of new animations for the characters as well as tons of new unique enemy voice work to boot.

Vehicle and turret shooting are the same as ever (for a Halo game); which is good; but the nice addition here is the new helicopter type of vehicle and even a small section of the game where you can control a space fighter.

Armor Abilities really help out and give you a new edge in combat. Also you have a night vision mode which works and looks like the one from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Intense multiplayer versus action either by yourself on a team; the mode has plenty of different options to choose from. This is a pretty good upgraded version of the famed Halo 3 multiplayer that now has new maps, modes, abilities, and graphics for you to enjoy.

Fire Fight mode allows up to four players to fight waves of enemies on unique maps (based on those in the campaign) using team work and skill.

BAD:

Some slight lag and slight blurring at the more intensive moments in the game (with lots of things happening all at once).

Can't play Forge maps in Fire Fight mode.

IF IT FITS YOUR TASTE:

A Sci-Fi First Person Shooter with quick pacing and intense fire fights. Note: that unlike Call of Duty: Modern Warfare this is a sci-fi First Person Shooter and as such your guns must first break an enemy's energy shield before you can really hurt them also everyone is wearing battle armor so you'll still need lots of shots to kill an opponent. The thing to do here is make your shots count more so you will need to do overall less of them to an opponent; example use energy type guns to break an enemy's energy shield and always try to do head shots to your enemy for extra damage. Coming at an enemy guns blazing and either not using the right guns and/or not aiming well will only get you killed pretty quickly.

Gameplay wise this plays pretty much like Halo 3 but with the life bar from Halo 3: ODST. The missions themselves are pretty fun and take the best bits from Halo 3 and ODST into new experiences.

The campaign levels can be played by either yourself or with up to four other players cooperatively at one time on any stage.

The Story is an overall a combat story going from mission to mission with nothing really tying into the overall Halo lore until the last chapter.

Intense multiplayer action online through Xbox Live with matches as small as one on one and as big as 16 players (and even offline without using Xbox Live using either spilt screen, or system link). Halo Reach is set up similar to that of Halo 3 but with some new modes and all new maps. But much like Halo 3 in the sense that you're given a rank when you play multiplayer (this rank can go up or down at any time) this rank is representative of your skill and your matched with others of your skill type, that way new unskilled players and hardcore veterans will not often play against one another, unless they make a special match themselves that ignores rank.

An all new Fire Fight mode (Fire Fight was originally in Halo 3: ODST), Fire Fight which plays similar to Hoard Mode in Gears of War 2 is a mode where either by yourself or with up to four other players cooperatively can play a stage about the size of a multiplayer stage and you fight against enemies that are found in the games story campaign levels in waves. You get points and an overall score on your performance for these stages.

There is no Master Chief in the game as well (the famed character from Halo's 1 through 3). Instead you play an assortment of different SPARTANS who were on the planet Reach when it was attacked. As far as the overall Halo story goes, your team is made up of SPARTAN IIIs (with one SPARTAN II). SPARTAN IIIs are cheaper to produce and have a bit less overall combat ability then the famed SPARTAN IIs (Master Chief is a SPARTAN II). Luckily for your team they have been given all sorts of prototype armor and weapons normally left only for the SPARTAN II's to have (note not even the Master Chief had a chance to get this stuff yet).

NO FLOOD, it should be noted this Halo title has no FLOOD aliens within it (if you've played Halo's 1 through 3 you'll know what I am talking about).

Forge World works like a much upgraded version of Halo 3's Forge mode is a mode that lets you make and edit your own map and build your very own maps from the ground up but adding/placing walls, ramps, towers, ect you can add or take away any and all of the objects, weapons, vehicles, spawning points and flag zones. This is all done in real time in one huge worlds (and not separate maps like in Halo 3) and you can even invite your friends into this mode while you're making the map(s) or just goofing off.

Theater Mode works just like in Halo 3 it is a video editor that lets you record and play back any and all matches from Campaign, Multiplayer, and Fire Fight, and even Forge World from the point of view of any player that was there in either first person or third person (you can even swap to a in a orbit-cam where the camera circles around the player) all of this in real time. You can also pause the video/action at anytime and still look around as a camera as well as well as fast forward and rewind the events as they unfold. BUT don't forget you must save your videos before you turn off the game or you will lose the ability to save those matches. Also note that while viewing these "videos" you can take a picture or record a snippet of footage at any time and save it to your Xbox 360 and have your friends check them out later on your profile.

GAME IT'S MOST ASSOCATED TOO:

Halo 3: ODST (Xbox 360)

Halo 3 (Xbox 360)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360/PS3/PC)

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

There is three small cameos from characters from previous halo games, honestly the cameos are very small and are not earth shattering to the games over all story.

Don't put down that controller once you beat the game as there is a surprise post credits.

People who pre-ordered this game either at Amazon.com or Gamestop got a preorder code for some extra armor parts for their characters.

The Limited edition comes with a download code for more extra armor parts for your character as well as a Halo Reach patch and a mini book with some back story on the game from the point of view of one of the stories characters.

The Legendary edition comes with everything found in the limited edition plus even more download codes for more extra armor parts for your character (like giving you a avatar a flaming helmet much like the Bungie staff had in Halo 3's multiplayer) as well as a small figure set of the games main characters design by Todd Mcfarlane of Spawn fame.

Honest reviews on Halo Reach - Legendary Edition

I rarely write reviews but i was impressed enough with the product when it arrived that I decided that it was time to give it a good review as well. No matter how much the reviews prepare you for a big box, you never really realize how big the entire box it till it arrives. The details on the box to the figurines are immaculately amazing and impressive. The details in the Limited Edition journal is amazing. There are pullouts, maps, patches, and other goodies hidden in it. I haven't gone through it slowly so I can't really list out what is inside. I guess i feel like it is worth it because i got this for the retail price of the original game when this was on discount on Amazon so I definitely got it on a bargain. However, even with the price increase, the contents of this edition make it worth the full price. It is worth mentioning that it has been a long time since i've seen a Limited Edition Video Game with such good reviews. For example: Splinter Cell: Conviction had faulty USB with cheaply printed material. Dead Space 2's model weapon was cheaply assembled and lacked detail. Black Ops Prestige Edition has a remote control car that has a badly angled camera that makes it difficult to drive. Arkham Asylum Limited Edition had a sad looking Batarang.

Halo Reach Legendary Edition has surpassed all standards. :) So worth the cash... Especially for fans :)

Was this worth the money? Yes. Not only are you getting a piece of Video game history when you buy this. But your getting a HUGE monument of Noble Team. It is very large. It easily takes up half the box. The marketing, with the hand written notes, and the back story is all very sweet.

Also, to comment on the PRICE. When you have marketing/packaging that is this customized, this themed, its going to cost. Period. There's no way to get around it. If you just look at whats in the box, and think simple packaging.. you have no idea about all the work that had to go on behind the scenes, to pull this together. Logistics.. That stuff cost money, big time. Don't buy it unless your a hardcore fan. Because there is no denying to lay down a 150 dollars.. that's a decent amount of money.

Really, if your a solid fan of the Halo games, if you've been with them from the begging, this is a set to buy.

Admittingly, I didn't buy the Halo 3, limited edition. I didn't feel it was worth it. I bought #2 Limited edition, though. But this set, is definitely worth it to me.

I don't regret the purchase one bit.

Honestly I could go into a lot of depth, about the intricacies of the packaging, but I would just be repeating everything else everyone else said, and same goes for the game, so I am going to be vague.

The game is very enjoyable, mainly firefight co-op. Especially infection. That' cracks me up.

The online is a blast.

Now the story is good, compared to the other games. You really feel for some of the characters. But its not a story I think.. that any of the Halo fans are going to be used to. You'll see why when you play through campaign.

One of the biggest things I love about this game, is the Customizable armor. It rocks. I love this feature the most. Really adds individuality to your character online. But the credits are tight.. It really takes a lot of grinding to earn the credits needed for armor upgrades.

Daily and Weekly challenges help boost this though. Sucks I have to do these though just to get more credits. Luckily so far I have been able to accomplish most challenges.

Now one thing that did bother me. IS there still lacking on the emblems you can concoct. Your still limited it seems, to pretty much what was in ODST. There seem to be a few new ones.. but it really needs expanded on. And you can't rotate them or do any real editing to them...

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters is an absolutely outstanding game that truly represents the pinnacle of platforming titles. Having been a fan of the genre since the original Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis, I've seen more than my share of titles. The rankings break out for Ratchet and Clank as such (all scores are out of five):

Graphics: 5

For the PSP, the developers did an excellent job of pushing the PSP to its graphical limit. The use of character models, animations, and textures are simply phenomenal. This is just shy of looking just like its PS2 cousin.

Sound: 5

The biggest boon for this game is the use of actual voice acting combined with clearly distinct sounds for each of the weapons. Everything sounds like it just fits and all in all ties together to create a believable atmosphere.

Value: 5

One of the best parts of this game is that you can continue to play it well after you beat the final boss. Not only this, but you can do so keeping all the weapons you've already bought and have the opportunity to buy even better ones! It just adds that extra little bit that seems to be missing in many games today.

Story: 4

A tad weak and unfocused at times, all in all it's still good. You really dive into the story of the Technomites and there's quite a bit of humor along the way.

Overall: 5

This is a great game that all PSP owners should buy. I've dropped a good 15 hours into it myself (which is quite a bit for a platformer) and am still playing. The best part is that it really is a fun game that both kids and adults can enjoy.

So before I left for Iraq a month ago, my roommate bought a PS3. Along with it he picked up Tools of Destruction along with some other games. I loved watching him play the game. And it was so fun to watch him upgade new weapons and buy new weapons and find new armor. After he beat it, there was even MORE to do now. And I loved it! So I tried the game for maybe an hour from the beginning. Sadly it was the night before I left to come to the sandbox. Because I was HOOKED.

Really wanting to play the game now, I started to look on amazon to see if there was a Ratchet game for the PSP. YES! There was! So, now, I had to buy a PSP also. I went ahead and bought thePSP Daxter Entertainment Pack Ice Silver and a few games, Burnout, Infected, and of course SIZE MATTERS!!

When the PSP came in (which was only about a week), it arrived with Burnout. I was loving it! Then two days later Ratchet shows up and I couldnt put it down for about a week straight (even though I beat it in about 7 or 8 playing hours...and I was taking my time looking for stuff and completing all the mini games). Right now a friend of mine wont let me play the game because he's basically stolen it and now he's addicted.

I ABSOLUTELY love this game.

PROS:

-The graphics are amazing for such a tiny machine.

-The gameplay is highly addictive (especially if you've never played a Ratchet game before)

-I was scared that the upgrading of weapons would be only in the console versions, but nope..its' here also. LOTS of weapons also.

-Controls are great. I actually switched them around to where the analog stick was mainly for strafing. Also I never really had camera problems. Just use the L and R shoulder buttons and everything will be ok...just like older PSP FPS games.

-Once beaten, you can play it over in Challenge mode to upgrade your weapons even farther, find new armor, and get a new weapons (for 9,999,000 bolts..heh).

Cons:

-To easy. I think I could flown through the game in a couple of hours if I had really wanted to. In Challenge mode, it's still easy, but the bosses seem a LITTLE bit harder.

-The game freezes up...BUT..it's only happend 3 times. Twice on the same boss.

All in all...I absolutely recommend this game if you have a PSP. I'm still new to the PSP, but I can already tell that this is DEFINITELY one of the top games for this system. Do yourself a favor and buy this game.

This is one game, where no matter your age you will have a lot of fun going through all the different levels and defeating bad guys. There is no dangerous violence nor is there any gore. I really like this game, there is a lot to do in the story, also there are multiplayer mini games and many other ways to have fun.

Honest reviews on Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters - Sony PSP

I loved Ratchet Deadlocked on the PS2, so I figured I'd give this game I try. Surely enough, I loved it too. The replay value, just like the console versions, is just as high. Anyone who loves the Ratchet & Clank series will love this game as well. :)

This is one of the worst games ever created. It deserves zero stars. Talk about pointless. The graphics are sub-standard, the storyline is non-existent and the game is solely based on violence. Now don't get me wrong, I usually don't have a problem with violence in video games but when there is absolutely no other point to the game, don't act like it has some story line. Mowing down cops and street thugs is not a storyline and it becomes so boring so fast it will make your head spin. You'll have more fun throwing your controller across the room after about ten minutes than you'll ever get from playing this piece of junk. If this game didn't feature the name "50 Cent" it would have landed in the bargin bin immediately. It's not even worth the bag it would come in if you were fooled into buying it. Don't waste your money on this piece of garbage, not even for a rental.

This is pretty much the worst and most over-hyped game of 2005 and made a lot of 'bottom 10' lists in many magazines last month. And it bloody deserves it.

The problems with this game begin before you even lift it off the shelf in the store. I mean take a look at the cover. It's 50 Cent, one of the few African American 'role models' around these days, in a defencive pose with a stereotypical 'angry black guy' look on his face (oh, please don't hurt me Mr. Cent!).

Now I am not a fuddy-duddy conservative who blames people like Marilyn Manson for corrupting kids or whatever because I know kids are more intelligent than adults give them credit for. But America is a very racist country and when 50 Cent misrepresents the Black Community and backs up the xenophobic myth that all Black people are evil or killers or gang-bangers in some way I can't help but get very annoyed.

Second of all is the fact that this drivel game is no more than a laughable male fantasy. Yes, I know Mr. Cent has been shot 9 times but it was all at once with low calibre bullets. It's not as if he goes out and gets shot at every day and is immune to all lead fired in the direction of his person. I know 50 Cent has had a really, REALLY, RE-EALLY tough life, that I would not wish upon anyone. But when violence and death have haunted you your whole life the LAST thing you should do is capitalise on a game that glorifies gun-play and gang warfare. That's just disgusting and perverse and if Mr. Cent truly 'kept it real' (what a ridiculous, meaningless phrase) he would treat his demons with respect. Using music as a way of working through them is fine but starring in a video game where the main enjoyment comes from blowing people away certainly is NOT. As I have said, there are few African American role models and he should set an example to those following behind him. While his innovative music may have made him a huge success this game smashes any credibility I feel he may have had.

Third? Well the story to the game is childish and stupid anyway. It's not even entertaining accidentally as it's just way too dull.

And fourth? Well don't get me started on the horrible targeting system and awful controls. It'll make you want to smash your control pad into your TV screen. What a horribly cheaply programmed game!

Fifth? Well, that would have to be the bland, graphics and tedious environments. It all adds up to a pretty (read VERY) unsatisfying experience. Mere days after being released most stores had zillions of copies traded in as those foolish enough to buy it blind quickly discovered what a rotten game it is as well as a hideously over-indulgent and grossly misjudged vanity piece. BEWARE!!!

very good first person shooter. the missions SUCK after the first 5 stages are opened up..and its hard to figure out what to do in the latter levels so i just gave up. also its hard to target your guy when shooting alittle..but not alot. i just keep going through the first level in Queens getting as much money as i can to buy videos and music...but that will get old soon. rent it, its worth the experience..the exclusive music 50 did for it is good too...

iLL .

Honest reviews on 50 Cent: Bulletproof - Xbox

Okay...this is a review, not a g-unit bash commentary. Unlike some people, I have the b@lls to say that I actually do enjoy some of 50's music. Though not without his issues(you all know what I mean), he is an interesting person. This game was obviously a companion piece to his get rich or die trying movie. Universal kind of dropped the ball on this one. It's not a terrible game, but it reeks of a rushed product. In game graphics are good, but the cinemas seem kinda washed out. The music, well, it's all g-unit so you'll either hate it or love it(ha!).I personally thought that some of the game exclusive tracks were better than his released stuff. Now, the gameplay.....Have you ever been stuck in the mud with some heavy ass boots on? That is a good description of the controls. Why is 50 so slow? The targeting is not as bad as everyone says. Of course its going to be hard to get a head shot. Do you really think anyone can get off a perfect shot everytime? Surprisingly well written story. The "overkills" are by far one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. Think Dead to rights, but much more graphic. Voice acting varies from decent to hilarious. Our friend Marshall Mathers is funny as hell as the crooked cop. Anyway, yeah I bought the game, I liked it. I'm just saying that it could have been so much more. All games can't be Halo after all.

The game is amazing, very smooth action and easy to preform combos. The colors and animation are beautiful as they really play a part in bringing this game to life and making it pop. The game is in Japanese with a few exceptions, though even if you don't understand it all it won't really hinder your experience with the game, because it pretty much follows the plots of each arc in the series. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure series, or anyone who enjoys fighting games in general.

Twisted Metal (2012) is based on a great franchise with excellent core gameplay. However, this newest release tries to apply an assortment of mode variations (taken from FPS and racing games) with questionable results.

Instead of being able to choose from a macabre cast of characters (as in past titles) you find yourself tied to (3) players: Sweettooth, Mr.Grimm, and Dollface (which are unlocked in that order). Each character has (3) 2-3 min movies that blend live-action and CGI to great effect, even though the middle cinematic is partially relegated to flashbacks from the original video.

Combat and vehicle handling are tight. Weapons are varied and mostly balanced, and the helicopter Talon is actually pretty fun to use. As a result, online play can be enjoyable if you select the right matches and modes. However, in an attempt to add variety, the modes too often stray from what is fun.

Once vehicles have been unlocked by a character's gang they can be used during other matches. It seems kind of odd to use Sweettooth on Mr.Grimm's motorcycle, or to drive Shadow with Dollface but that's what you'll find. (Axel is only playable as DLC). The good part is that you can use your favorite car in almost every level. However, the PROBLEM is that the new level designs almost force you to select certain cars to proceed in single player or be competitive online.

Ultimately, you end up choosing what works best for certain scenarios and less of who you would LIKE to play as. Twisted Metal was always a car combat game built around single elimination death matches. The new game changes that, and not necessarily for the better. On the rooftops there will be an inordinate number of people using the helicopter Talon.

Likewise, in checkpoint races everyone will choose Kamikaze or Crimson Fury (paint variations of the fastest vehicle). Here you must beat your opponents to certain destinations without missing too many gates. The problem is that this is NOT Mario Kart, or Blur where weapons will knock people off the track. In those games, any vehicle has a CHANCE to win. In this game Crimson Fury or Kamikaze will ALWAYS win. Unless you choose one or the other, you have absolutely no chance of winning. Missles and even special moves (with the exception of the magnet) will never knock the cars off of their path. In addition, going through checkpoints replenishes health.

Cage Matches force you to do battle in certain sections of a level surrounded by lighted green grids. If you stay outside the grid for too long, you take damage. The problem is that vehicles with less health/shields will usually die if you are not concentrating on making your way back into the "cage" at EVERY given moment. Less shields = more damage = death if you get lost enroute. I finally beat these levels with Mr. Grimm, but only because his special move does an insane amount of damage once you charge it up (160) and I killed each car with two direct hits and no misses. This does NOT work online with skilled players. Most people end up selecting the same tougher vehicles.

Other levels have Juggernaut trucks that endlessly respawn enemies. You must either destroy them and all the other vehicles on the map, or continue killing cars until you have reached a quota. This is more frustrating than fun, since it offers little opportunity to search levels for new weapons or ammo. Instead, you must destroy everything as quickly as possible and hope your vehicle spawns in a good location.

Throughout the 18 levels or so of single player there are only 2-3 REAL deathmatch battles. Ultimately this is where I feel most disappointed. Twisted Metal is NOT a FPS. Capture the flag (with gang leaders you return to a missle launcher), races, and cage matches really do not do the game mechanics justice. Combine that with a limited number of characters and cinematics, and I feel somewhat let down.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OVERALL:

So, all in all the core mechanics are still great. Graphics have low textures, but are still manageable. The 9 cinematics are well done (although more would have been welcome), and the helicopter is a decent addition to gameplay.

Yet aside from VERY SPECIFIC online modes, a lot of this game just isn't as fun as previous entries. The bottom line is that most of the new modes do not work in context. I wish this had been a game that played to the strengths of the series without trying to revolutionize the core gameplay.

Twisted Metal is probably still a game worth buying, but I ABSOLUTELY recommend waiting until the price goes below $30.

7.5/10

Mmkay, how to start... First off, don't hate the messenger! o_o This review is purely opinionated and should be taken as such. I'm the kind of gamer that's in it for the story and single player experience, thus I'm most likely not going to touch upon Online play. Sorry peeps. :( Plus, I'm doing this for the casual gamers out there, the ones who play for mindless fun, want a new game, and aren't hardcore 50+ hour gamers. If you're on the fence, I'm writing this for you! :) With that said, lets roll!

I really liked the game as a whole. Why? I'm glad you asked! :3 The graphics are were very nice! Very few levels to play, but they were huge! The cars are well made. The graphics don't go as far as KZ 2 or 3, but there is vast improvement since the release of TM: Black!

My moment of disappointment... Yes, it is true as other reviewers mentioned. There are only 3 characters who have a story in the campaign. The way it works is the cars that have different abilities, not the driver. So much for character individuality :(

I could go on about what other reviewers mentioned, but what I really want to put emphasis on is gameplay! I'm surprised people mention so little of it. If you wanna hear about characters and story, many others have written such. >_>

Ok, let me say that I'm am an avid gamer and I enjoy various genres and challenges! I can comfortably say I'm not the best gamer ever, but I'm pretty good (I'm not boasting, I swear!). o_o So now let me place the warning here:

CASUAL GAMERS BEWARE!!! lol

Having played the campaign mode on Normal difficulty, I'll admit, it was tough! O_O There are 3 difficulty levels, (Normal, Hard, Twisted). That's 3 difficulties of kicking player butt! D:

On top of a tricky button configuration, there is a LOT going on... When you play this game, you'll be dodging bullets and missiles, trying to aim a chargeable weapon, AND trying to maneuver important obstacles! This isn't a simple game, by no means! This game WILL in fact test your dexterity!

Something else to consider is your patience as a gamer! Personally, I can put up with a lot, but there were times where I became VERY frustrated! In the campaign, it will feel as if you (the player) are public enemy #1 at all times. The AI rarely fights each other, keep this in mind! ._. This is especially apparent when you fight a mini boss called the Juggernaut. It's a semi that has increased armor, has potent firepower, and spits out a new opponent to fight every so often if you don't beat him fast enough. When this mini boss gets a twin to help, and other enemy drivers are trying to kill you, it becomes one Hell of a fight... Then they make you fight 2 of them with badass upgrades further into the campaign... I nearly cried when I got to that stage... T-T

The races (yes, TM has races, crazy, I know :P...) can be tricky to maneuver when people are tossing your vehicle around with various explosions and ramming. They were fun, don't get me wrong, but in those moments of cheap shots, I was ready to use words that would stupefy an entire nunnery for generations to come! o_O

Oh I must absolutely mention the Electric Cage matches -.-

In a level, there will be a barrier that changes positions. Think of "capture the zone" type of gameplay. You have to fight in this barrier. If you stay outside the barrier for too long, health depletes. Now the challenge is trying to race to the next location, and often the AI would cheap shot me by freezing my vehicle (a special move that can be done) in place.

At the end of it all, I will say that this game made me work for that victory, lol! I personally appreciate that, but I also understand some gamers out there don't want an uphill battle, but in contrast seek mindless, casual fun. Just know that playing the campaign will be a challenge! :3

To conclude, my recommendation on buying this game, especially if you're the casual type, is to wait. I don't confidently think it's worth a $60 experience. BUT I will say I'm so happy I pre-ordered this, because Amazon had an offer to upgrade to the Limited Edition version, which came with a Redeem code that gives you a downloadable version of the PS2's Twisted Metal Black for free! I loved Black, so that was quite a bonus! The more skillful gamers out there will have a lot of fun with this game, but everyone else should know that there will be a struggle. I'd almost say you'll want to have the attitude of, "This is meant to be more challenge than entertainment". Definitely rent or borrow from a friend first, because the only way to know for sure how you'll like it is to play it personally! Other than that, I wish all of you happy gaming, good luck, and thank you so much for taking the time to read my review! :D

P.S. I'm so freaking sorry it's a long review, I was caught up in being informative! D:

PROS

The visual of this game is better than I expected. Environments and cars look pretty good.

Insane multiplayer mode, this game has probably one of the most exciting multiplayer modes.

I really could give this game 4.5 just because of the greatness of the multiplayer mode.

Sound effect and Soundtracks are just great, fits really well to the game(and i love More human than human by Rob Zombie)

Pretty dope campaign mode cutscenes

Huge maps and variety of weapons and vehicles.(which proly makes up for the lack of characters)

MP server is fixed!!!!

.

.

CONS

To be honest, Campaign story does not really live up to my expectations. I was expecting something close to TM Black.

Balance issues, especially Mr. Grimm's bike, it seems that there is really no point of choosing Mr. Grimm's bike, because you will die so quickly.

Little bit of Camera angle issues..

.

.

To be honest, i thought this game was going to be another overhyped disaster like the Brink

but Twisted Metal PS3 is actually a great game and it was definitely worth preordering.

I would give it 4.5 stars out of 5

Honest reviews on Twisted Metal

Twisted Metal does it again. I'm not gonna go ahead and spoil the good stuff, but this game is crazy. And of course twisted... Graphics are good, storyline and gameplay is awesome. If you've played the previous TMs, you'll see what I'm talking about ;].

Like many others, I've been a long time fan since 1995. This is without a doubt the best Twisted Metal game ever made, but there are alot of issues that slightly disappointed me.

After already finishing story mode, I can say it is probably the most disappointing thing of all. The live action cut scenes are done very well, but the stories just aren't as interesting as I hoped they would be. Twisted Metal Black remains the highlight of the series as far as story telling goes. In Black we witnessed the depressing tale of Dollface, a terrifying realistic look at Mr. Grimm, and found out why Sweet Tooth's head remains in flames at all times. I was hoping for a story line with only 3 drivers to at least give an in depth look at these characters and see what really makes them tick. It doesn't even try to explain why Sweet Tooth has a flaming head. In one scene he's a normal guy, the next his head is on fire when he puts the mask on. What? Having such a quick shift with no explanation is no better than Twisted Metal 4's opening movie. Come on guys.

It's just disappointing in general not having all the unique drivers the series is known for. It was so much fun to go through with different characters to see their motivations and fate after winning the tournament. It added alot of replay value to the games, and I really do miss that aspect. Even though we have many familiar vehicles and special weapons making a return, there's just something strange about Mr. Grimm driving the iconic clown's ice cream truck or seeing Dollface fitted into Axel's killing machine. Another thing I really don't care for are the races. You race through checkpoints around large maps while blasting each other and trying not to fall off cliffs or rooftops. This can become very irritating, especially due to the fact that if you miss a certain amount of checkpoints you self destruct. Also, some of the boss fights are a little cheap, but they are epic encounters to say the least. These are gripes from a long time fan, but I just felt I had to address them.

In the long run, it's all about the gameplay and amazing multiplayer. Offline or online this game is so much fun. Fluid controls, dozens of levels, and tons of awesome vehicles make this game the best in the series by far. Co-op is as fun as ever, and being able to hop online with a friend in split screen is a blast. Custom paint jobs for all the cars is a nice little addition as well, plus a nice selection of different side arms like shotguns, semi-autos, and even magnums. I don't regret buying this game at all, and I'm so happy it's finally made a comeback. If you have never played a game in the series before, this is the place to start.

very limited game play opportunity. maybe it's just me, but i never thought of this show as an opportunity for a video game. how exciting is removing a bolt for an entire minute (with a little graphic on the side showing how far out of the car it has traveled)??

just like the show, you have a set number of days and set number of tasks (buying or cannibalizing and installing parts with a budget) to complete the build. you control 3 team members plus jesse james. unlike the show, you just rip the car apart and put the new parts on before the days run out. just as a guage of interest, my kids spent 10 minutes on this game and spent the rest of the day playing "need for speed 2 undeground". i would not recommend this game at all. it's very poorly done.

Driver Parallel Lines Limited Edition for Xbox Reviews

I bought the limited edition thinking it would have more stuff with it. It was pretty disappointing. There was only a music cd, and a very VERY short making of featurette on the dvd, with some other very short videos. The soundtrack is cool. But the making of DVD is weak with hardly anything. They could have put it on the game disc.

The game itself is fresh and fun Driver style gameplay. There is more emphasis on story this time around. There is some good shooting gameplay out of the car. But the driving part is still the most fun. There are a lot of missions to keep you busy. You can pretty much choose which ones you want to do first, after playing required story missions of course. I wish there was not so much harsh language in the game, but I guess developers feel that is necessary these days. Very good soundtrack with some 70s style music in it. A fun driving action game. Check it out.

I beat the game in just under 6 hours. Yikes! That figures to about $10 an hour for game play!

You're a soldier for the US Army, initially sent to Iran to gather some highly needed, top secret information. From there the story gets fleshed out rather hurridly along with some well over used cliches. The gameplay is fun, the sound an graphics are great. Grenade explosions are really cool and the machine gun is very satisfying to shoot.

However...

This one is a perfect weekend rental. There's a good mix of run and gunning, driving and shooting from a helicopter. I have to repeat that this game was allot of fun to play. There were 5-6 levels (I forget exactly) each broken up into smaller "episodes" similar to the Halo games. Each level was pretty unique and at first glance the game could easily be mistaken for a Call of Duty title. Only a handful of weapons to choose from that sadly, didn't follow you between episodes and I found that I stuck with the machine gun almost entirely through the game except for some of the mandatory sniper episodes. There was also a very limited amount of aliens as well, which was surprising because I was expecting more. However, the ones that were there were very fulfilling, especially the larger "boss" type characters.

I would have scored Blacksite allot higher had it been longer game. You can't imagine my dissappointment after spending $60 and then beating it the same day.

Save your money for the likes of Assassin's Creed and rent this one.

Dan.

The graphics are sub par, and no far beyond what you might see on the original XBOX. The game is very, very short. It's unpolished and buggy.

I did play online one match and that was a little better. But this pales in comparison compared to some of the better shooters like Gears, Halo 3, and Bioshock. I picked this and Timeshift up at the same time, and Timeshift is a much better game.

It's probably worth a rental but not much more.

Best Deals for Blacksite: Area 51 - Xbox 360 (Special)

A couple years back, Midway updated their light gun shooter Area 51 for the last-gen consoles in the form of an action, scare, and conspiracy theory-filled FPS that was surprisingly good. Blacksite: Area 51 is more or less a follow up to the aforementioned game, in which you play a soldier and find yourself searching for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, only to uncover an alien conspiracy. The first thing you'll notice about Blacksite: Area 51 is that the game is boasting some spectacular graphics. The characters, aliens, areas, and environments are beautifully rendered; making the game a joy to look at, but that's about it. The use of squad tactics doesn't work very well, and you'll mostly find yourself engaged in battles with your squad not doing much to lend a hand. It should also be noted that there are a fair amount of glitches and bugs that occur now and then, ranging from graphical glitches to bugs in the gameplay elements. The single-player campaign is decent enough, albeit much of the shock value and scares that were featured in the last Area 51 game are absent. The multiplayer mode is uninspired and boring to say the least as well, which is even more disappointing. For all its flaws though, Blacksite does offer some solid moments of intense action, and the political commentary does conjure a smirk. All in all though, Blacksite: Area 51 is a disappointing FPS that could have been so much better than what we get here. It is worth a rental at least for FPS addicts or fans of Midway's Area 51 license, but other than that, Blacksite can be avoided.

Honest reviews on Blacksite: Area 51 - Xbox 360 (Special)

This game realy let me down! I played the demo on X-Box and it seems prety good. However, when I got to play the whole thing I believe the creators could have done a better job on the graphics. The movement is not as life like as the most recent games out like Call of Duty 4 or Helo 3. The operation of the vehicle in the game is mechanical. I would recommend you rent it first.

This game is bad. Bad, bad, baddity, bad. I hate it with the passion of a thousand suns. Here's why:

* It crashes. Constantly. It would crash at random moments, whenever the game tried to load the extremely detailed environments.

* There are a million load sequences that interrupt the flow of the game. And the load screens are repetitive. And the "hints" the game shares with you are useless. Reload frequently? Thanks, Blacksite, I never thought of that!

* It's linear. At one point, the resident tough guy character quotes Star Wars, cause, ya know, the area looks like one of the chasms on the Death Star. When a character points out how linear the game is, you know there's a problem.

* The enemies are boring. There's one actually freaky alien, and it's telling that the thing is showcased in all the art advertising the game. All the other creatures look like they were ripped out of Starship Troopers. There's also the stupid "exploding monsters" which are a tired staple of FPS. Did I mention that one of them is a giant tower that slowly rotates and farts out alien bugs?

* Squad-based tactics? Sure, that amounts to telling people where to go (they never listen) and telling them whom to shoot at (because it's not obvious?).

* Non-destructible environments. Sure, the fuel trucks can be shot. There are crates you can break, but there's nothing in them. The environment is largely static.

* There's also a rail game component. With monsters that shoot projectiles at you. I've never seen this before. All that's missing is the "shoot me in the head" game.

* You can't affect anything the game doesn't want you to shoot at. You can empty an entire clip into your allies heads, shoot their vehicles, and basically act like a moron without affecting the game. And when I get bored, I can really be a big moron.

* You can jump about two inches in the air. There is no purpose to jumping. You can't scale any environment, except to slowly fall down a zip-line like you're on an elevator. In the one area where you can fall to your death, the final boss battle, your dead body stutter-steps down to the ground. This is a fabulous piece of code, let me tell you.

* It's short. I mean, really short. Even for me. I tried to play the game on a much harder difficulty, but the crashing actually drove me so insane that I wanted to at least get my money worth. So I played it on easy to get it over with.

There are some redeeming traits, but none good enough to make the game worth buying. It's got some interesting environments, including a battle in a suburban neighborhood. At one point you receive air support from a chopper flying overhead while you're duking it out on the ground. And the rail gun battles, while rote, are at least scripted to be exciting. There's also the amusing, ripped from the headlines dialogue. None of that saves this stinking fetid pile of excrement.

In the era of Bioshock, Halo 3, and Gears of War, Blacksite is proof that graphics alone are not enough to make a great game. The developers should be ashamed of themselves, but I can't tell you who they are because while I was forced to watch the end credits...the game crashed.

Before XBox 360 and PS3, this game was the very best (simulation) racing game available. It's not an arcade game. It's fast. It's fun. There's loads of customization. There's lots of tracks.

It's not easy, though, and even with the difficulty on easy, winning a race with a car equivalent to your opponents is a challenge. (It was for me, anyway...)

I bought this game to finish off the series, but it was actually pretty good. Even for the age of the game it still outdoes the original project gotham racing, and its just a lot more fun to play.

A great family friendly and fun game for all ages, would highly recommend. It is the best racing game ever, multiplayer for 2 players!

Honest reviews on Forza Motorsport

First, this game had some awesome features when it first came out. It had some innovative things that other games didnt have yet. But at the same time flaws. The tires didn't feel right or natural in this game, but other stuff fell together to help it up a bit.

Great car upgrade system, money system alright. The amount of cars to choose from is fairly good. And Track selection is pretty cool.

All in all if you got a Xbox360 just get Forza 3. It has more cars, upgrades, tuning options, and tracks.

It is the original Forza! Who doesn't love it? The line on the ground is the best, I don't care what these super racing gamers say. I hated these games until the line.
