This review is based on having completed the "War of the Ring" campaign in single and multiplayer co-op and some limited time spent on multiplayer. I have not yet completed the "Rise of Sauron" campaign so cannot comment on it, though I suspect it will very much resemble the gameplay and mechanics of the first campaign.

Overall, I rate this game a 4. It is an action/strategy game in the vein of Star Wars: Battlefront. You take on the role of a warrior, archer, scout, or mage in some of the famous battles of LOTR history. If you play well enough, you may get the opportunity to play a "hero" character, which is essentially a buffed up counterpart to the "grunts" that you normally play and can turn the tide of battle. Playable heroes include Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli in the War of the Ring campaign. It has the film license and therefore uses scenes and voices from Peter Jackson's trilogy. However, it only loosely follows the story, as the focus in LOTR:C is on conquering certain areas or accomplishing objectives which may or may not jive with the original story.

It is a great improvement over the last gen contributions allowing for a little more strategy and replayability. The "alternate history" campaign is a clever addition that may irritate Tolkien purists but allows for a sense of anticipation and mystery to see how the designers have imagined a world overrun by the forces of Sauron.

Graphics = 3.5

Not top notch by any stretch, but when you consider (as other reviewers have mentioned) that the game has been designed to allow for 150 characters on-screen at once acting independently, they look pretty good. I was a little disappointed at the panoramic/overhead shots of the battlefields and fortresses leading into each mission. Although they capture the essence of the films, they seem blocky and not as detailed as I would have expected for a next-gen game. Character models look good, though I had difficulty in some missions identifying orcs/evil humans from further away. Movement and combat animations are nice but it is noticeable early on that characters of the same class always move in the same way (Grima Wormtongue is a buffed up scout, Aragorn is a buffed up warrior, etc.). In general, the battlefields are beautiful and relatively expansive, especially Pelennor Fields, and are literally full of activity, giving the impression of an epic battle happening around you.

Sound = 4

Don't spend much time appreciating sound but it seemed appropriate. The soundtrack is straight from the films which is nice. The voice of Elrond telling me the objective every 30 seconds was a little annoying at times, but actually did serve well when I got holed up the first time through the campaign and needed to redirect my efforts.

Gameplay = 4

This game is fun. Each class has its own set of strengths and weaknesses and seem to be balanced fairly well. A mage is deadly from a distance and can heal his comrades but won't last long if confronted by a warrior with a flaming sword. An archer has powerful arrows with area affects that are very useful, but become limited and quickly overwhelmed if enemies get too close. Warriors are sufficiently powered for up close combat and have several devastating moves that can eliminate multiple foes at once. They can also take more hits and are in general harder to stumble and kill. Scouts are a little more specialized. They have good melee skills and can string 8 moves together into a fairly effective combo but their real beauty is the ability to become invisible and "backstab", resulting in a one-hit kill. They are more fragile than warriors, however, and cannot take as many direct hits.

The game is essentially objective based. The player is presented with a wide open battlefield where enemies and allies will continue to respawn until objectives are completed. The player has a limited number of "lives" or respawns, before the game will register a defeat; these lives are gradually replenished as major objectives are completed. Exhausting all of your respawns is not the only way to lose a scenario, however. There are also times when a particular area needs to be "held" as a counter ticks down to the arrival of reinforcements or some other in-game event. The failure to hold this area and getting overrun will also end the scenario in defeat.

Winning a scenario involves completing objectives which may include conquests (capturing certain areas on the map), assassinations (eliminating a particularly nasty enemy hero), or sabotage (destroying enemy fortifications or siege engines). These objectives must be completed by the player, as the AI controlled allies will fight and support fairly well but do little else.

One bug that I noticed involved the siege of Isengard. At one point in the mission, you are given the opportunity to control Ents. It just so happened that my Ent was on the receiving end of a couple of flaming arrows and went down fairly quickly. I respawned as a warrior and noticed that all the Ents had been activated but only one or two were actively fighting in the battle zone. The others were either motionless or on the outskirts of the battle fighting with no apparent contribution to the objective, which was to capture a particular area. Without the Ent support, the area to capture was completely overrun. I tried through about five lives to clear the area sufficiently to capture and could never do so. This only happened once, however. Related to this, you will sometimes find that the AI will send a surge of support to the wrong area, leaving you solo to accomplish an objective. This led to my defeat more than once, but I found that the AI would behave differently when I started over and I would find repeat attempts easier to complete.

I spent little time in multiplayer but found it to be fun. It would be nice to have more than 8 vs. 8 to give the battles a more epic feel. No lag, and the battles seem fairly balanced when the characters involved are the standard picks. However, there are no ranking or matchmaking systems to speak of and I'm still at a loss as to how you can play as a hero character. I recall that my buddy and I entered a multiplayer match to find that we were only given the option to select the typical grunts but were fighting against heroes. Of course we lost badly and I couldn't figure out how the game would allow for this type of matchup. Maybe a question that another reviewer can answer.

Replay value = 3.5

The good and evil campaigns will give most gamers a total play time of 8-10 hours. I can't imagine wanting to replay the single player campaigns more than once or twice, but maybe to unlock achievements or conquer the game at a higher difficulty level. The multiplayer could definitely present additional replay value, but based on my experience there would need to be the addition of a matchmaking system and quality downloaded content to keep the game fresh and entertaining.

Bottom line: Rent it or try the demo on Live. You definitely won't regret that. If you're looking for a quality game in the LOTR franchise with some promising multiplayer potential, go ahead and pick it up. Just keep in mind that the campaigns alone are probably not worth the $60 price tag.

I will give Evil Arts some credit. LotR is one of the very few movie licensed games that do rather well and just doesn't suck because it's a movie tie in. As far as LotR:C is concerned, it's a good winter game that came out after all the great titles came within the last 2 months.

Is it as memorable as the movie based games that came out on the last gen systems?

No.

And sadly to say, this almost has a twinge of too little too late.

Meaning that had this game had been released around the same time the movie titles had come out or around the same time when BF:1942 was popular this title would easily had been a 4 start title but now that these types of games have advanced so much in game mechanics, it's hard to play this game without feeling like you want more.

The game is pretty much a button masher with some elements of capture and defend a point.

You can change your character at will and use lots of combos.

And when you have done enough of the primary tasks, you get to use a hero like Aragorn, Gimily etc...you get the idea.

Graphically speaking the game looks pretty good, the character designs are done pretty well altho there can be some issues with the framerate when a whole lot going on onscreen. All of the backdrops are done wonderfully as if you are playing those scenes from the movies.

The control is pretty straightforward as I stated, this is a button masher so once you go thru the tutorial you should have the conrol downpat.

Soundwise, it's almost a dream...from Helm's Deep to the Pellenor Fields, with the sound of battle and Howard Shore's soundtrack, you almost feel as if you are there.

SO where does it all go wrong?

"been there done that" feel...and some of this gets repetitive after a while and when you get the Hero Character, it's a buffed up version of your grunt.

Still buggy I had to reload the Helm's Deep stage because after I killed a certain group of creatures, the game didn't move to the next objective and after killing hordes of Uruks for 15 mins I realized that I had to start over because...

Lack of clear directions the game is not all that great at always telling you when you have completed objective A or where exactly at Point B you need to be and I think this may have been a bug or something Pandemic overlooked when putting this game together which also leads to

Faulty multiplayer modes getting into a game is easy but not all games are....I was playing mode where you had to move the Ring from one side of the battle area to the other. One thing I did not like and I am not sure if this was a bug or if this was intentional (since sometimes the ring wants to get lost) if a character dies while carrying the ring, you can't find on the map where it is.

Another issue that may not be good for multiplayer is since a lot of games have hopped on to that bandwagon, there is no way (as far as I have seen) to level your character up as CoD has spoiled many gamers with being able to do this...without this mode, this game may leave some gamers wanting more.

Overall if you a fan of LotR, it's a no brainer game but playing this almost makes me wish that another RPG (and not an MMORPG) or something with more substance was released. Not that this game isn't any fun, but it may not capture mine or anyone's attention for too long besides completing it.

3 out of 5 stars.-

Bought this game for one of my sons. He loves it and so does his older brother. They both loved the movie series, and the game plays into that interest. They are ages 14 and 15, and I would recommend it to others looking for a good game for their teenage kids if their kids like this genre of game.

The game is very difficult to find, so what I recommend is buying an 8 GB flashdrive, and downloading the game straight to the flashdrive. It will only cost you 1200 Microsoft Points (equivalent to $15.00) instead of chancing getting a bad disc. So spend the money on a flashdrive and directly download. On the other side, the game is 100% worth the money, to lovers of the LotR series and to people who just love a fun game! So buy the flashdrive, download the game and have a great time!!! :)

I got the cross adapter because I kept on breaking my PS3 Controller and I could not afford to get a replacement but I have a Xbox 360 my brother has and I prefer the 360 controller so I went on amazon searching for cross battle adapters I took a risk getting this one because there was no reviews on it so instead of buying the XMC ADAPTER WITH RUMBLE I got this one and it had a vibration funtion ! I did'nt expect it to have it and its a plus because it has turbo perfect for FPS'S I dont know why everyone is wasting there money on the expensive ones when there is a afforable one that does everything the other ones do

This thing works great! I got it because I have never been able to get used to the PS3 controller when playing shooters like Uncharted and I am happy to report that it works perfectly. I do not feel any lag and the rumble works great as well! The turbo works just fine although I don't see myself using it.

If you have been wanting a cheap way to use your wired 360 controller on your PS3 then look no further!

Honest reviews on HDE® Xbox 360 To Playstation PS3 Controller Adapter

Plug and Play.., Only one draw back, at least for me, is the trigger on the ps3 controller, is the bumper on the xbox controller..

This isn't a deal breaker, but I wished it had an option to reverse the trigger / bumper.. It would then be using the Xbox

controller, as it was intended to be used... :)

Shipping took less than 5 days though I ordered it on a Friday and it came on a Tuesday night so I was very pleased with how fast it delivered. Overall I'd rate this as an okay product to casual gamers or for gamers who want the feel of an Xbox Controller on a PS3 game. Although there was no setup required and it was just plug-n-play, this adapter is not 100% calibrated for the PS3. It has a slightly noticeable button/input delay compared to using an X360 controller on the X360. The only reason why I bought this converter was so I could play Tekken Tag 2 on the PS3 so perfect timing is necessary. It's a good worthwhile investment for people who have a PS3 and want to play shooters or any game really. For the low cost, I'd say it was a good buy even though I can't make much use of it.

Well, it's not a game. But it's a great case I got for my boyfriend and he loves it! He travels with his Xbox all the time, and this is perfect and saves him so much space. Our favorite feature, that most other cases do not offer is the fact that you can play the Xbox without taking it out of the case, making packing/unpacking extra simple and creating less clutter by the TV.

Best Thrustmaster T500RS Racing Wheel - Playstation 3 Deals

Thrustmaster T500RS Racing Wheel - Playstation 3
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I bought the T500 rs in march of 2011. Three months later the cooling fan started to sound like it was going to break off. I emailed thrustmaster customer support as my 30 day return period from amazon was over. They took two days to respond and started by asking me for a video in which they could hear the abrasive sound. I did so immediately. Customer service is located in France so they took another 24 hours to respond. When they did so, they started asking me questions which I felt were designed to incriminate me regarding foul use of the wheel. This process took several days, they then asked me for proof of purchase, to which I replied with the invoice from amazon. They then told me that they could not open the attachment. I had to resend it. This of course took another 24 hours of what was now starting to become a tediously long and cumbersome process. After this they told me that the unit would have to be mailed by me to France. They would not pay for shipping. This of course is not the way returns should be handled by a corporation doing business in the U.S. I was not about to spend hundreds of dollars on shipping a faulty unit I had just bought for $600.00 dollars. I politely asked them to please send me a new fan so I could perform the repair myself. They took a couple of days to respond, and when they finally did, they asked for my telephone number. I gave it to them that very day. A couple of days later, I get a call from a woman in France. She proceeds to question me again about the use I have been giving the wheel. She asks me if I am forcing the wheel in any way from side to side during start up. She then asks me if I have the wheel set up to a Dell computer. She starts to give me explanations as to why the user needs to first hook up the wheel to a Dell computer, and only a Dell computer. I told her that I only use the wheel on my ps3, and that the wheel's manual clearly states that it is designed to be plug and play with this console. She asks me to update the firmware with a Dell computer. As if a software update would fix a faulty fan. Fortunately I have a dell computer, so I did what she asked and sent her a picture of my dell computer next to my wheel. Two weeks later part of the wheel's casing containing another soon to fail fan arrived at my house with complex instruction on how to open the wheel and perform the replacement procedure.

I hoped that this would be the last time I had to deal with this company and its employees, but I would not be so lucky. A couple of days ago a spring in the gas pedal broke. This left the pedal limp and unresponsive. I replied to their last email asking for a new spring. I waited for four days, no response from customer support. I decided to go on their website and email them from there. I then get a response from an automated service with a case number. Immediately I send them a video showing the damaged pedal, proof of purchase and my information. I get a reply two days later from a customer rep who asks me to email him the version number of my wheel. Another cockamamie question designed to delay the process. I email a reply as soon as I get home and are able to look under the wheel to check the version number. Here I ask the rep if it is possible to receive an extra spring and a plastic gear in case this happens again to another of the pedals. To which I promptly get a negative response. It's incredible that I get such a fast response refusing to send me a couple of parts which together are probably worth less than a dollar. But somehow I am not surprised. I also get an email from a different customer rep asking me for my address and proof of purchase. I email them, for the third time, a copy of my amazon invoice. Two weeks later and still no spring.

If you want to spend $600 dollars on a wheel which will eventually malfunction, look no further. Having been given permission by thrustmaster to disassemble the wheel I can tell you that the parts used to manufacture such a product will fail. It is only a matter of time. The motor is of good quality and so are the sensors, but mechanically moving parts are of poor quality. The steering column is made of plastic, that when updated with the F1 rim shredded a bit. The hex screws are made of very poor quality metal and are prone to rounding. The case housing the internal components of the wheel is overly large and is prone to overheating due to a proper lack of ventilation. The score of 1 star regarding how much fun is this wheel, is due to the employees of thrustmaster who have created a corporate climate of blaming the end customer for their company's shoddy workmanship. They have become very adept at evading the responsibility of the warranty claims they make when selling their overpriced equipment. If you want to be treated disrespectfully, with disdain and even contempt for purchasing an overpriced toy which will only give you headaches; please do what I did and buy Thrustmaster.

I was very excited as I unboxed my T500RS to replace my well worn G27. I attached the wheel and pedals to my Playseat WRC; the wheel fit perfectly, but the mount holes for the pedal set did not line up, had to zip-tie in place. (I have seen rumors on line that Playseat is working on an adapter but 5 months after release it is still yet to be seen...)

I started Gran Turismo 5 on my Playstation 3 and got in about 3 hours of play. The wheel was remarkably better than the G27, impressively responsive.

I turned the system off, and returned a few hours later for another session, to find that the unit will not power up. The AC Adaptor's indicator light is on, so it must have power, and when I connect the USB cable, I hear a high pitched whine coming from the wheel, but the power light on the wheel does not light up and the unit is not responsive.

VERY disappointed that a such an expensive unit would die on day 1. Awaiting a response from Thrustmaster support and trying to figure out if it is worth the effort to set the G27 back up...

UPDATE: I initially called Thrustmaster support on Monday May 23. They ran me through the usual script attempt to connect to multiple different PCs, attempt to re-flash firmware, etc. After I reported back through e-mail that none of these steps worked, I received a reply 10 minutes later asking for more detailed contact information and proof-of-purchase. I was hoping that meant this would be a quick repair, but I did not receive any further contact. After one more e-mail to them asking for status, I called again Friday May 27. The rep I spoke with confirmed that they received my e-mails earlier in the week, and said they would follow up with the person this case was assigned to and have someone get a status to me that day. I have heard nothing back. I am giving them until Wednesday June 1, then I will just return the unit to Amazon.

UPDATE 6/20/2011: Shipped the base unit to Thrustmaster on May 31st since I was going on vacation for 10 days anyhow -as of today, still no replacement. Very disappointed in their customer service -they always say to e-mail for a status update, but I never get a response without calling. At least they paid for shipping...

UPDATE 6/24/2011: Received the wheel back yesterday; TM says they had to resolder some wires to the board. I hooked it up, this time it died the exact same way after 45 minutes. I am trying very hard to remain polite with their support staff.

UPDATE 7/04/2011: Received a new base on Friday. Still working after several hours of use this weekend, bumping my rating up a star -we'll see how long this lasts.

UPDATE 9/14/2011: It has been working for three months, moving up to a 4-star rating since the product is great -their customer service however was terrible at getting me a working unit. For a $500+ product, they should be bending over backwards and should just be swapping with a new unit right away when something is broken rather than making customers wait for their faulty repairs.

Best Deals for Thrustmaster T500RS Racing Wheel - Playstation 3

When the Thrustmaster T500rs came out, I laughed a little bit. Thrustmaster has not made a good wheel in quite some time and at the price of 600 dollars, its double the cost of a G27. Not only is it double the cost, the wheel wheel housing is intensely large and the pedals are quite cumbersome. That being said, the wheel is superb in most every way.

I recently had a chance to use the T500rs for a while and was taken aback by how good it is. The force feedback is quite robust and precise. It gives a lot more feeling of realism only dreamed by the other wheels on the market. The wheel feels weighty, like a real car wheel, but lightens up the faster you drive and turn. This dynamic response is greatly appreciated when driving simulation racing games. Road inputs are much easier to feel with this wheel improving the users ability to respond and drive dynamically.

The buttons on the wheel are a mix between the G27 and the driving force GT. The versatility of the buttons on the driving force GT carry over to the T500rs but the buttons are small and hard to identify during races and quick turns. The buttons are unfortunately placed quite far from the rim and because of the diameter of the wheel, this makes it very hard to use during races unless you are on a straight or not in a race. The buttons do include a PS button which is very helpful on the PS3 as you don't have to keep a controller around to navigate menus.

The pedals on the T500rs are quite good. Though I think they are too large and are cumbersome in many instances, their performance is another story. The brake is firm and requires a bit of force to apply pressure. The clutch and gas pedal don't have the resistance that the brake does but they still take force to press down which is really nice. All in all the pedals are great during game play and give a relatively realistic depiction of real car pedals. Much like the G27 pedals, they don't have progressive feel that real car pedals provide. The brake pedal has a resistance mod that you can install that increases braking resistance and has the ability to create a progressive feel by adding a pieces of rubber that comes in contact part way through the brake travel. Its not perfect but it does enhance braking.

One of the most unfortunate things about this wheel, is that it does not include a shifter. Thrustmaster says they are developing one and it will be out soon, but it sounds like its not included with the set. This is unfortunate for being a 600 wheel, any of the wheels close or below this price point includes one (Fanatec and Logitech wheels). That being said, when racing competitively, I don't use a shifter, just shifter paddles so its not a huge loss.

The paddles on the T500rs are massive. Each one takes up about 20-25% of the wheels circumference. They are made of chromed metal and are quite hefty. They give a great tactile feedback when shifting. The big downside is that they are fixed to the wheel base, so they do not rotate with the wheel. This makes it hard or impossible to shift when turning certain cars. If you are in a 90 degree turn, you will not be able to shift unless you take your hand off of the wheel.

Another nice feature is that the firmware for the wheel is upgradeable. This helps with comparability with new games and systems later on down the road. Other than that, its a plug and play experience on the PS3 and all you have to do is install the driver to make it work on the PC.

If you are a serious sim racer, this wheel is the best wheel on the market. If you are more of a casual gamer this wheel is unnecessary. If you have the cash to drop and you take sim racing seriously, order this now.

Pros:

Realism

Force feedback precision

Button functionality

Pedal feel

Paddle Shifter feel

Clutch pedal

Ease of use on PC/PS3

Upgradable firmware

Cons:

Bulky

Pricey

No shifter

Fixed paddle shifters

Honest reviews on Thrustmaster T500RS Racing Wheel - Playstation 3

Pros:

Stronger FFB than any other existing wheel

Made with rich quality and no cheap looking parts

Firmware is upgradable (meaning bugs can be fixed if any, or features can be added)

Pedals work great (Clubsport Pedals are much better though)

Great for the drifters due to the fast counter-steering of the wheel

much better and accurate feeling for ALL ground surfaces (tarmac, dirt, grass, apex, etc....)

Official wheel for GT5 meaning that buttons are matched to a PS3 controller

Works awesome with PC with great software configurations

weight transfering of vehicles feel more realistic

Cons:

expensive considering there's no gearbox (TH8 RS shifter compatable with additional $149.00)

paddle shifters are static(not really a con, but most racers like the paddles to move with the motion of the wheel)

no shifter though there is a clutch on the pedals

The wheel circumference is quite large comparing to other wheels such as the G27

Buttons seem to be far apart from the outer wheel (no buttons within close reach upon holding the wheel unless you have gorilla hands)

it's REALLY heavy compared to the average wheel. Hard mounting is highly recommended

Ending thoughts:

It's an awesome wheel and well worth your money if you can afford it. I recommend upgrading to this wheel if you just use a controller or a cheap wheel such as the DFGT. But if you have a nice Fanatec wheel or Logitech G27, be happy with what you have. They are all still GREAT wheels and no need to feel like your wheel is worthless becuase the FFB is not as strong as the T500rs. Again...it's a great wheel, I would recommend it to anyone who's into sim racing or also new to the sport.

[SEP 2013] See my latest update at the end of this review.

Fantastic wheel and pedal combination ...... how best to describe this product without recycling what has already been said in previous reviews and what is available on Thrustmasters website? .... hmmm, how about when I opened the box it had that "new car smell" ... no bs; that's how realistic this product is ...... close your eyes while this is connected and running, and you will swear you are behind the wheel of a real car ...... I have this installed on a Obutto, so I also have the seat feel to go with it ..... the heft of the wheel, the size, weight and feedback of the pedals .... all top notch ...... ultimately, the best driving sim wheel/pedal combo on the market today .... this is not a toy ... hence the price tag and warning stickers ......

But ... and this is a big but ....

While researching this wheel prior to purchase, I read many a story on the GT5 forums about problems with this product ... most of the problems centered around the wheel and not the pedals ... DOA, paddles not working (my problem), wont power up after a week or so ..... for those that had Thrustmaster do the repair, the fix always seemed to be 'resoldered wires' or "replaced pc board" ......

My right shifter paddle stopped working a week after receiving it from Amazon ..... after swapping PS3's and flashing the firmware, I have it going back to Amazon tomorrow for a replacement .... hopefully the replacement will be defect free ......

[20 July 2011 update]: Within a couple hours of advising Amazon that I needed a replacement, I received an email that another unit was being shipped 'next day' delivery .... how can you beat service like that? .... this isn't a toaster; this is a large box weighing in at almost 50lbs ..... unbelievable that customer service still exists like that ..... anyway, the new wheel and pedals arrived ..... and it didn't take more than a few minutes to swap the new wheel with the old on my Obutto .... everything is now working great again ....... that's a good thing as I would never again be able to use something as toy-like as a G27 or Fantec wheel ... I'm not knocking those wheels as being decent products in there own right; just saying' they don't compare to the realism of the T500RS .... I didn't bother messing with the pedals as the original ones are still just fine ...... I have also changed my product rating from 2 to 3 stars due to the quick response from Thrustmaster after I advised them of the dead paddle .... they wanted me to perform a bunch of diagnostics that I had already done; but their initial response was less than 24hrs, so I feel comfortable that they will be there for after warranty service ...... I am eagerly waiting for the 7 speed shifter to compliment this wheel/pedal setup .......

[03 August 2011 update] : well, it has been a couple of weeks now since receiving my replacement wheel and everything is still working great ..... my lap times in GT5 have improved dramatically ..... Dirt3 is a blast now as you can 'feel' the tires break grip on the track ..... I'm waiting for F1 2011 to release later this year ..... I'm still seeing many new reports of wheel problems in the forums, causing me to almost feel relieved that it still works when I turn my console on ..... I'm also back down to 2 stars after receiving no correspondence from TMasters after my initial inquiry ... sad that such a great product is spoiled by lousy customer service and what looks like quality control during manufacture ..... I have a week or so left on my return policy, so if I see anything even looking like it may be a problem, it's going back to Amazon ..... a week or so ago, I noticed that this was no longer being fulfilled by Amazon .... too many returns? .... don't know what was up there but Amazon is selling it again now ..... I would NEVER buy this product from anyone not having such a superior return policy such as Amazon .... too much risk ..... so anyway, to end on a positive note; the 7-speed shifter has been announced and should be available in a month or so ..... hopefully Amazon will carry it as it is a must with this wheel/pedal combo ......

[16 March 2012 update] : As you can see I've owned this wheel a while now ..... And I'm happy to say that I have had no problems with it since my exchange/last update .... I've bumped my rating up accordingly .... I would never go back to a mediocre controller ... As predicted, I also have the gearshift now and it is a blast .... Hang your evergreen air freshener on the monitor and take this out for a spin .....

[Sep 2013 update] : Well, it has been about a year and a half since my last review and I happy to say that my T500RS is still performing great .... I've had no problems with it at all .... it hasn't been used every single day, but at least once or twice a week for a couple hours at a time .... GT6 will be out by the end of the year, so I'll be back to everyday play soonest .... I just picked up F1 2013, and I'm contemplating buying the interchangeable F1 wheel .... I wish that I could give this wheel 5 stars, but I continue to see horrible customer service experiences in the forums .... I feel that company support should be part of a products overall rating .... although this didn't impact me other than very early in my ownership of this wheel, here it is a few years later and ThrustMaster customer service is so horrendous that it has its own sticky thread on the forums .... anyway, again, my T500RS is doing just fine and I recommend it to anyone looking for about the best consumer grade gaming wheel on the market today .... Amazon continues to stock it every now and then ...

Crysis 2 is a totally engrossing and submersive game that will have you glued to your monitor for ever how long it takes to complete...and still it will leave you begging for more.I have never played the original Crysis,so I cannot compare the two products,as in one is better than the other.I have always been a FPS lover though and this FPS/RPG game gets top marks all the way.

The scene is NYC and it is being devastated by the Ceph,an alien race bent on the takeover of Earth.A cryo/nano suit was developed to create an army of superior soldiers, the only ones capable of really doing any damage to the creatures. As one soldier by the name of Prophet is nearing his end,he passes on his DNA and subsequently his suit to a dying grunt by the name of Alcatraz.Alcatraz takes over where Prophet left off, with the same protocols and mission,to stop the Ceph.

The game takes you from one "crisis"(Crysis)to another. You(as Alacatraz)not only are battling the aliens but our own ground troops.Eventually you are welcomed and assist the troops but there are interfering generals, scientists and others who want a piece of you,in more ways than one. There is an ultimate secret to your development that will be revealed, but to get there you will battle through the war torn streets of NYC,fall and jump several stories,be under falling debris and collapsing buildings, swim in the filthy rivers and sewers and all in order to save humanity.Your nano suit is fully customizable all the way through and in fact you will collect nano particles,or the life essence of the aliens,in order to better upgrade your suit.Weapons and accompanying ammo are plentiful and there are many, many collectibles along the way which increases your game cred.

The graphics are utterly amazing, and if you have a high end system this should not be a problem for you.I found not so much as a slight slow down at any juncture of the game,no glitches/crashes and it usually loaded up within 10 seconds of finishing a level(going on to the next).I ran the game with a 1920X1080 pixeled screen(maxed)and ALL elements from sound to graphics on high all the way.Flawless.Every step through NYC was a jaw dropping experience as far as looks go.I would even stop mid battle just to view my surroundings more closely.Amazing.

The only game I have played lately that comes close is Bulletstorm in the look and feel, but this game goes beyond that game by quite a stretch.

I bought the limited Edition Crysis 2 which comes with free bonus experience points and level up,a unique dog tag,a weapon attachment and scar weapon skin.In order to get this content and play in multi player mode, remember you must first register an account with EA games. To assist in that, before the game starts there is a login screen which,if you have not created an account before, will take you directly to where you need to go to create one.Once created an email will be sent with a link to both activate your account and,if you have bought the limited edition, give you instructions on how to access your free stuff.A slight annoyance but all pretty simple.

In conclusion,Crysis 2 is a class act all the way.The game's story and graphics suck you in almost from the moment the first frames unfold before you.The game is as smooth as silk with no crashes, glitches or frame flutter of any kind.It loads in seconds and it guarantees an enjoyable and wild playing experience.

You can tell when developers have really put their efforts and creativity into a game. This game is one of those kinds of games. I'll replay a game IF two things apply:

1. you can replay the game using what you've earned in your first playthrough.

2. the game rocks.

Not only have I played this game though like 4 times, I was playing two different games at the same time (one game on normal, the other using the HD pack on hard setting). I would play through it again. The game is a blast and very well made.

Best Deals for Crysis 2 (PC)

I walked away from the original Crysis fairly impressed and eagerly looking forward to jumping into the sequel to see what else developer Crytek could come up with. What I found was a game that had nearly everything I loved about Crysis either removed or changed in a way that took enjoyment out of the experience. This was once a fairly unique shooter now feels like a run of the mill FPS experience with some minor nanosuit abilities tacked on to give it a "Crysis-like-feel". Honestly this is the first time I've felt like consoles being tossed into the mix for development actually held a project back from achieving something far better.

Again I'll start with the visuals, which were pretty good but I didn't quite get hit with the wow factor from the original. Trading in the island paradise we find ourselves in a half destroyed New York City which makes for some impressive sights but overall I felt like I wasn't experiencing anything new. Playing on DX9 with everything set at Ultra was still a treat but I didn't find myself stopping to marvel at things. DX11 offered a far better visual treat but due to poor resource management on Crytek's part which often resulted in random slow down due to the over use of tessellation on objects you could see, I opted to go with DX9 for majority of the game. I never got the sense that this game was designed to push the limits in terms of visuals the way the original did. While the visuals were great it just wasn't what I was expecting after playing through Crysis from 2007.

As I stated earlier this time we're playing in New York City shortly after the events of Crysis, which finds Prophet handing off his nanosuit to new comer Alcatraz. This poor guy is having a string of bad luck, after nearly dying when the submarine he is on is sunk in the Hudson River he's then blasted by the Ceph before being found by Prophet. After being infected by a virus that has wiped out most of New York's inhabitants Prophet puts the barely alive Alcatraz in the nanosuit then offs himself before he can explain anything. When Alcatraz awakens he finds that everyone hates Prophet and wants him dead; what's worse is that now everyone thinks he is Prophet. Now Alcatraz must take up Prophet's mission and finish what he started.

Despite being given the nanosuit from Prophet who was the team leader in the original Crysis the suit is quite different for this outing. In fact I'm going to use the term dumb downed to describe it because that is the best I can come up with. Gone is Power mode, instead activating automatically when you need it. Hold down any action you want to do in order to activate Power mode though it mainly seems to be used for jumping and the occasional power kick to move a car or something else blocking your path. Speed is also gone which is now simply activated by holding down the sprint key. Honestly it feels like a normal sprint and there's no sense of incredible speed that Crysis had. Even though it is slower it still drains your energy supply fairly quickly, majority of the time when I truly needed it my energy was already low and I lacked any other form of increased movement. Cloak is still the same with some minor tweaks to how quickly it drains your energy and Armor mode is still the same as well. So in short you've lost Power and Speed mode while keeping Cloak and Armor. Gone is the satisfaction of using this abilities to together as everything is either activated automatically or doesn't serve much of a purpose.

Moving past that minor complaint I found the game riddled with more changes or things simply being kicked out entirely. While the game still allows you to tackle objectives using whatever means you deem necessary the area size you play in is far smaller and extremely linear. Crysis 2 would try to be helpful by pointing out different "tactical options" though I wonder how tactical it is to run out in the open and grab a ledge to get to higher ground where everyone will see me. It didn't take long before I started ignoring that little voice in favor of doing it my way which usually revolved around the concept of start at point A and kill everything in my path on my way to point B. It doesn't allow you to branch off much as you are often limited to city streets or roof tops, the occasional shop being open for you to duck into though rarely would they have a way around back or anything like that. Again this felt like a huge drawback from the original and left me wondering why they thought this was a better design choice. I loved it when I would fail in Crysis because that meant I'd be trying out something entirely new by taking a completely different path and trying to find a weakness in my enemy to exploit. This time dying meant I was pretty much going to replay that same section in the same manner. Very rarely does Crysis 2 give you a good sized area to play in that allows you to experiment and explore.

Crysis 2 also features some of the worst AI I've ever encountered. Enemies/squadmates would get hung up on walls, would throw grenades against barriers they were hiding behind then stand there until it exploded, often my squadmates would ignore blatant danger while attempting to relocate for some reason. Plenty of times I found myself stopping to marvel at the stupidity going on around me. Other times it was easy to get enemies caught in a loop for animations. This means I would shoot one of the Ceph or Cell soldiers and it would send them sprawling to the ground then pop back up in the same spot a split second later. So I would keep my cross hairs in one spot, firing every other second to keep hitting them for an easy kill. Not very often did I feel challenged by the AI. Most of the time the challenge came from having to deal with a boss like creature using limited supplies (you need four rocket launchers to blow up the walking tank, you only have three) while an endless amount of Ceph spawn in the area. Even then it wasn't so much challenging as it was time consuming. One example of this would be in Times Square where you are defending a location while civilians are being evacuated. The Ceph arrive to attack and eventually they drop in one of their walking tanks. By this point your squadmates have blown themselves up so it is just you attempting to take this thing down while Ceph continuously spawn off to the side. So after hitting the walking tank with my three rockets I detached a mounted .50 in order to finish the job but had to constantly put it down to kill the two or three Ceph that had spawned in. What made this process even slower was the walking tank would send out a blast that drains my suit energy completely making it impossible for me to stand there firing at it. This felt like an exercise in patience more so than it did testing my skills.

The story line here was a fair bit better than the original, letting you interact with key characters more often and keeping you in the loop about what was going on. Alcatraz's nanosuit is basically mankind's last hope against the Ceph and is the key to undoing the plague unleashed upon New York. As you play through you find out a fair amount about the Ceph and the war that is unfolding in New York, how they are here to claim Earth and wipe out every last human. It's not the best story I've experienced but still was entertaining enough to keep me chugging through a mediocre game.

Gun play is tight and the weapons feel just right. Again the sound quality here is excellent and helps draw you into the world. Your weapons take center stage with it comes to audio as you hear shell casings hitting the ground, the click of the bolt feeding another round into the chamber, the clang when your clip is empty, the sound echoing off the buildings around you. This was one area I was truly impressed and Crytek raised the bar here over Crysis. The soundtrack was fitting, the voice acting was great, and there isn't much I can think of to complain about here.

Another major change was the Ceph, as they are no longer anything like what you saw in Crysis. Gone are the tentacled half alien half machine monsters which proved quite challenging to battle as they could fly, move quickly, and were quite deadly up close. What we have in their place are humanoid versions of the Ceph which are half alien half machines, running around on two legs like all the other enemies in the game. Why this was changed again I cannot make heads or tails about. There wasn't much of a difference between fighting the Cell or fighting the Ceph beyond the weapons they were firing at you and enemy type. It came off as lazy in my opinion since the Ceph from Crysis were new and original this time around it just felt like a reskinned human soldier with some better weapons.

Overall I just found that Crysis 2 didn't live up to what I expected and didn't continue building upon the great foundation laid by Crysis. Pointless changes, limited scope, and horrible enemy AI really held this game back from being truly great. Instead we got a middle of the road FPS with some exceptional qualities but issues that mar the experience into the realm of mediocrity. I hope Crytek rethinks their strategy for their next game in the Crysis series because this didn't leave me impressed. Clocking in at just under 8 hours for the campaign as well left me a little let down since the original took me closer to 15+ hours to complete. I'm giving Crysis 2 a 6.5 out of 10.

Honest reviews on Crysis 2 (PC)

Admittedly I'm a little late coming on board with Crysis 2... I've read the previous reviews and noticed a lot of mixed opinions on the game, so far that reason I decided to hold off until it hit the bargain bin. Typically when a game starts getting mixed reviews like that, my experience is that the game will end up being a mixed bag of both good features and areas that need improvement.

Actually my experience with this one has been that of being pleasantly surprised. The machine I'm running it on is an AMD FX 8 core processor and Gigabyte GTX 650 Ti Boost, so I was able to take advantage of the DX11 patch and HiRes add-on. That being said, graphics wise the game definitely is a looker... I want to refrain too much from comparing it to the original as this is a completely different environment. Suffice to say that if the player has the ability to run it at maximum settings with the add-ons, I don't think there are many that would honestly claim to be disappointed with the results! :-) Likewise sound and soundtrack are also excellent. Player interface is pretty much standard for the genre, so no great surprises there.

Personally, I think the reason for most of the criticism with this game is that there is a rather large disconnect from the original Crysis. First, there is the storyline. For those who played Crysis 1 (You have played it, haven't you?), Prophet was seen heading back to the island to finish off the job that he started in dealing with the alien threat. Now he shows up in New York as the carrier of an alien virus, handing off his suit to a new protagonist named Alcatraz, and the world seems to be going to hell in a hand-basket around him. What the hell happened in between the two games? Certainly could have been handled better.

The other big disconnect is that this game went from a relatively open-ended game-play style to something much more linear. While I do tend to prefer the former, the fact that this storyline is more focused is not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion. Think in terms of the Half-Life series, and that is overall what this game feels like. One thing this game does offer however, and this is a carryover from the other Crysis, is that it still allows plenty of latitude on how to approach a given combat. Do you prefer to be stealthy and take out your opponent with a knife? Sniper on the rooftops? Classic run and gun? Any of these styles are possible.

The suit options have been streamlined such that things before that required manual activation like Strength mode, are now automatic. There really is only the choice between stealth and armor now. It does allow for upgrades however as the player is able to harvest alien biomass for integration into the suit.

Gameplay itself is fun though pretty standard at this point. There was some criticism of the game's AI, but I felt that it was overall pretty typical of the genre. In other words, they are capable of mounting a reasonably competent defense when attacked, but will generally go back to milling around like nothing happened when things quiet down. Another criticism is that the environment isn't breakable... mostly true. Glass and small objects can be broken, and other objects like crates can be tossed around. Does get a little silly however when firing say the main gun from a tank at a search light and all it does is spin around.

Now, I do personally have one major criticism of the game, and for me this is a big one. The version of Crysis 2 that I got was the "EA Classics" release... meaning it was a reissue. The game had NONE of the patches included. Furthermore, I could tell during the install that once again Electronic Arts had released the initial game without sufficient play-testing and as such when this game was originally released it had a lot of bugs. It actually took me three tries to correctly install the game and get it to patch properly. After two years, this really should have been a non-issue and is inexcusably sloppy on the part of EA. If there is one thing that annoys me to no end is to be a "pay-in" beta tester (meaning that the software is released to the public before being fully tested and relies on customer input to resolve problems), and is the primary reason I don't buy initial releases anymore, preferring to wait a few months until they can chase all the bugs out. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect the game to work without major issues (crashing, freezing, failure to patch, etc.) out of the box. EA has become really bad about this in the last few years, and honestly I was about ready to hang it up on them. Fortunately I was able to get everything to work in the end.

If I were to sum up Crysis 2 in a sentence, it would be "been there, done that". Definitely a fun game, and when working correctly a solid first-person shooter that is definitely worth a look at especially since it can be got on the cheap these days. Unfortunately there is nothing about it that really stands out from the genre, and for those looking for the type of bleeding edge innovations and technology that put the Crytek team on the map, don't expect much from this package. In short, it's the sort of game for people like me who are looking for a decent first person shooter "fix" without spending a lot of money or brainpower to get it!

I'm a collector of all of the Sim expansion packs, but some are always better than others. This one was decent. I was disappointed that I only got a few extra items for $10 more and there's really not much to do with Katy Perry in the game at all, except for giant fruit stage decorations.

I'm relatively satisfied with the gameplay, but I am still disappointed that there wasn't more to show for the extra money I spent on this game.

This expansion is the latest in the Sims 3 franchise. Its major contribution to the Sims 3 world is the addition of three new careers: Singer, Acrobat, and Magician, along with venues for these performers (and Sim guests) to visit and perform in, along with objects, clothes, lifetime wishes, and rewards related to performing.

This seems like the best-realized of the Sims expansions. The objects are very well-made, with plenty of special objects like mechanical bulls, jukeboxes, karaoke machines, pool tables, and more. The careers are interesting if repetitive, and the new wishes and rewards are really cute. The EP also introduces the concept of Simport, which allows Simmers to send their performers into other Simmers' gameworlds to perform and to receive other Simmers' performers into their own.

The hometown that comes with this world looks very thematic, complete with a "Hollywood"-style giant wooden sign in Simlish at its edge. There's plenty to explore, especially with the new venues. The families in the town are all right; they're nowhere near as purely fun as those in Lunar Lakes or Hidden Springs, but they're extremely thematic for the performer-dominated town here. The houses range from modernistic to Mediterranean styled; I found them difficult to live in and decorate, but they are very nicely made. It's not too hard to customize the world with your own lots and with Late Night and World Adventure venues. I should also mention that there doesn't seem like there's a lot of child-related things in this EP, which is fine for someone like me who rarely plays families but which might cause a Simmer who prefers families to feel like their Sim-children have been neglected.

The Katy Perry special edition included a few special costumes that are terribly cute, along with some stage props I particularly like and a custom-made venue. The venue is really nice, with an LA vibe. I use one of the costumes frequently and the stage props are fun for the type of Sims I usually play--fun-loving Sims who play around a lot. If you see something in the bonus content you really like, then get it with the assurance that it's well-made stuff. If you don't see something you like in the bonus content's collection, then the special edition EP won't be worth it to you.

Simport gets old extremely quickly. It's a bit like Facebook and AIM right in your game; you can see and make status updates and share memories with the friends you've selected from the website. After experimenting with it a while, I got tired of it and turned it off. It's incredibly buggy and cranky to use and crashes the game on my Mac after it's been running a short while. But it's a neat idea, and if you liked the Sims but wished it was more cooperative or social, then you might really love Simport. I don't really care for social/cooperative play so I don't like it enough to fight with it.

Performing is very fun--people who've tried Sims Medieval might recognize the general mechanics from the blacksmith occupation from TSM; you set up the general "perform" command, then issue sub-commands within that general one to do special things like blow kisses to the crowd or do Michael Jackson-style dance moves. It gets repetitive very quickly; there aren't nearly enough different songs or tricks, for example, though the ones that are there are pretty cool to watch. But I enjoy it as a change of pace. Sims can rise through the ranks very quickly and get very wealthy as top-level performers, which didn't seem too unreasonable to me. Two types of performance that don't get a lot of attention but which I think are very neat are the ability to DJ (with your own portable DJ station) and sing karaoke. I just wish EA would release more songs and tricks for Sims to perform!

The hairs, clothes, and objects are all 5/5. Some are misses, mostly men's hairs, which are, as usual, rather weird-looking to me. The hairs especially are getting more and more creative and imaginative. The clothes are getting more complex and detailed, which is always a plus. The new stage prop type objects are also useable as room decoration or seating, which opens up all sorts of new possibilities; one of the prop themes is "steampunk"--which means that now it's possible to make a 3rd-party-content-free steampunk house. The prop objects also work really well with the Store's magic sets.

You don't need anything but the base game to run this expansion pack. I got mine on DVD and it runs just fine on both my Mac and PC computers. I'm not sure I'd recommend it as the very first EP someone should buy after getting the base game unless the idea of making a performer makes that person just ecstatic, but I think that most Simmers, especially ones who prefer playing adult Sims, would enjoy the new things this EP brings.

I received this item a few days ago and found that the Katy Perry items had expired. I am not a fan of hers, but thought the extra items (hair, clothing, decor, etc.) were worth the extra couple dollars I paid. What a big disappointment to find that the items had expired! I had even read the box it came in, before opening it, but a sticker covered the section that told when these items would expire. EA shouldn't let these limited item games be sold after they have expired (which they have proved they don't care much about customer's problems) and the same to the stores that allow, and sell, them.

Honest reviews on The Sims 3: Showtime - Katy Perry Collector's Edition - PC

I really loved this expansion! While pets has been my favorite Sims 3 expac so far, this one is up there as well. One of my favorite parts about it is the ability to send your Sim to your friends towns to perform though the system seemed buggy and I did not get many successful tours to my friend's towns. I also really enjoyed being able to customize my stage with all sorts of cool props and stuff, though I wish there was a much bigger variety of in the themes of the props for the stage. There were only about 3-4 different stage themes. The items included in this pack are also really fun, including DJ booth, karaoke machines, etc. I don't think the Katy Perry version adds much for the cost and it's probably better to just go with the regular version.

Like many Sims players, I really loved playing the game. The first Sims didn't overdo it with expansion packs but lacked graphics even though it was the most flexible. Then Sims 2 came out with better graphics but got carried away with expansions and once you invested in those the Sims 3 gets released with honestly not much better graphics. But Sims 3 can't seem to stop adding Stuff, Worlds and Expansions, not to mention that hardly anything is free at The Sims Store. But besides spending more on Sims than real people and pets, even some game consoles, it's riddled with glitches and rarely anyone can play the game without endless problems, losing hours of work and things getting slow, which is why it's got more patches than a pair of old jeans. Then custom content is risky as a result can mess things up big time, from freakish people to crashes. It's just become too big and nothing that's ever released is as fun or lives up to expectation EA promises. The idea was lost and hardcore fans (this one included) are tired of buying disappointments. Then, before you know it Sims 4 could come out and it's back to to square one and the previous Sims we spent so much on sells for dirt cheap that we'd never use again anyway. Maybe it's time a copycat game like Cities, that turned out better than Simcity makes their version of The Sims, that works.

This will be a lengthy and detailed review written (primarily about the system itself) in the form of a Q&A to help make it easier to find whatever topic or question you might be interested in knowing about this product rather than having to read the whole thing. My purpose of being so detailed is simply to help YOU, the customer, make an informed decision before purchasing this product.

Q. What's in the box?

A. Here is everything that is included inside the box (listed in bullet points for viewing convenience):

1 Playstation 3 (Black) "Super Slim" system with 500 GB of Hard Drive space

1 physical copy of the newly released game "Grand Theft Auto V"

1 Playstation 3 Dualshock Wireless Controller (Black)

1 Playstation 3 USB mini cable charging chord (to recharge the controller)

1 power chord to plug into the Playstation 3 (allowing you to turn on the console)

1 set of composite cables (the red, yellow, and white chords for non HD picture)

1 30 day free trial of the Playstation Plus membership service

**This does not come with an HDMI cable.

**This does not come with an Ethernet chord that some of the original "Fat" models were boxed with.

Q. What inputs come with the system?

A. Here is every input/output/slot/whatever the system utilizes (listed in bullet points for viewing convenience):

1 Ethernet Back

1 HDMI out Back

1 Digital out (optical) Back

1 AV Multi out Back

1 AC in Back

2 Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0) Front

Q. I'm into "techno terms." What are some of the specs involved with this system?

A. I'll just cover a summary of some of the essential basics of the hardware involved (if you want to really dissect things, a simple Google search would do you a lot of good). Basically, this system comes with:

500 GB Hard Drive

Cell Broadband Engine CPU

RSX GPU

Bluetooth 2.0 (for use with headsets, wireless keyboards, and other accessories)

Blu-Ray Disc Drive (used to play Blu-Ray movies and can also play DVDs as well)

**The system consumes about 190W of power

**The picture resolution ranges from 480i 1080p

**The system is also capable of being used as a 3D Blu-Ray player. You'll need a 3D TV for this to work.

Q. I've never owned a Playstation 3 before, yet why should I buy this system when the Playstation 4 is coming out November 15?

A. That is a very good question. Yes, this bundle is being released rather late into the Playstation 3's lifespan. Yet that doesn't mean the system doesn't still warrant a purchase. For starters, if you do hold out for a Playstation 4, unfortunately (for now at least), the Playstation 4 will not be backwards compatible. I say "for now at least" because eventually Sony plans on using an extensive cloud-based service to download PS3, PS2, and PS1 titles digitally onto the system. Keeping that in mind, Microsoft announced that they plan to keep the Xbox 360 supported for at least another three years, and while Sony hasn't made any similar announcement, I can't imagine Sony would be too far behind when it comes to continuing support of the Playstation 3.

That being said, if you've never owned a Playstation 3 before, you will have access to a whole library of games out for the system (which continue to decrease in price as the months go by) both via physical copy and digital download through the Playstation Store. Among these are such award winning exclusives such as "The Last Of Us," the "Uncharted" series, the "God of War" series, the "Ratchet and Clank" series, and so much more (let's not forget about the non-exclusive titles). Not to mention there are plenty of excellent games that are still being developed and are to be released for the system (games like Gran Turismo 6, Batman: Arkham Origins (not an exclusive), BEYOND: Two Souls, and Final Fantasy XIII-3 (not an exclusive)). Also there are plenty of "indie" games and "PSN titles" available to download digitally from the Playstation Store (games like "Journey," "Fat Princess," the "PixelJunk" series, and the list goes on).

You can also use the Playstation 3 to access plenty of apps such as Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu Plus, Crackle, and more! Not to mention you can upload pictures, music, and videos onto the Hard Drive. Some games even allow you to play your own uploaded music in the background while playing the game itself (though not all of them do that). With 500GB of space, you will have plenty of room to download a vast array of digital content (whether it be movies or games). You can also backup your files by plugging in an External Hard Drave through the USB slots located on the front of the system.

I know I may sound a bit "preachy," yet I'm simply trying to make a case for those who may have never owned a Playstation 3 before. If you already own the system, then clearly there is no need to purchase this. Unless you're like me of course...my Slim (purchased on release day in 2009) finally got the YLOD (yellow light of death) after years of HEAVY use and so I needed another one. I was already going to get GTAV anyway so for me this bundle made sense. I installed a 500GB Hard Drive into my old system and used up 480GB of it...and it is filled with a lot of games that I still have yet to touch, so for my instance, there is a means to justify rebuying one. I know I know..."cool story, bro."

Q. That's nice and all, but I need more convincing. What else can you say about this bundle?

A. Let's look at some numbers, shall we? This bundle is currently listed on Amazon for $269.99. How does that compare with other bundles/units? Well as far as 500GB consoles go, the only other one that comes close is the one that's just the system itself (which is currently priced at $269.95). As for the other 500 GB bundles? Well they range from $286.58-398.99 (at least at "new" prices). You could always go the "used" route, yet as far as I'm concerned buying a used console comes with risks.

Q. I don't really need 500GB of space on my Hard Drive. Are there any other alternatives?

A. The cheapest unit listed "new" on Amazon right now is the 12GB Playstation 3, which is priced at $199.99. The bad thing about this one though is that it doesn't have an actual Hard Drive. You could also go with some of the 250GB bundles such as the "Uncharted 3" bundle listed at $249.96 or the Sports Champions and Eye Pet Move Bundle priced at $276.94 (not bad if you don't already own a Playstation Move setup and are interested in that sort of motion control thing). I could sit here and talk numbers all day, though it wouldn't matter since prices are sure to fluctuate. By the time you read this these values might be inaccurate.

Q. I've seen the specs, you've listed some reasons for purchase, and you've shown me the numbers. What about GTAV? Can you tell me anything about the game?

A. This section will likely be updated as I go along playing through the game, however I can say that GTAV is the fifth entry in a series of games created by the developers at Rockstar Games. The genre one might consider this game to be is commonly referred to as a "sandbox game" where the player can go around and virtually do whatever they want (though obviously there are some limitations). If it's anything like the last entry (GTAIV), there will be plenty of guns, action, pixelated ladies, trash talk, a great story, and most importantly, lots of fun. This game has earned a reputation for being the most expensive game developed, costing the studio around $265,000,000 to create. It's safe to say that the developers have put a lot of faith, time, and effort into this product.

I might also add that there WILL be a multiplayer mode however it will be released (likely as some sort of patch) for free at a later date (rumored sometime in October). So don't think you have a defective copy without any multiplayer mode, it will be released soon enough.

As stated earlier, as far as the GTA V portion of this review goes, I will be updating it as I continue through my playthrough. However my review focuses mainly on the system and if you are really in an urgent dire need to know more about GTAV, then I'd suggest checking the product page for the game itself.

I do apologize for writing a novel here, yet I hope that this information helps you out in some way. Feel free to leave some questions or comments and I will get back to them as soon as possible.

This is my 1st and probably only video review I'll ever make. Mainly did it just to show the unboxing so you can see what all you're getting in it.

I didn't mention this in the video, but if you ordered this bundle, the promotional code to get your atomic blimp WILL NOT be inside the game case. You should have already received an email from Amazon and your promotional code should be in that email. Only people who ordered the standalone game get the code inside the game case.

Other than that, this bundle is amazing. I'm not entirely sure how much a regular 500gb super slim PS3 is, but I bet you're saving a lot of money getting this bundle compared to getting the two (PS3 and GTA V) separately. Oh and plus you get a free month of PS Plus so yea. If you're like me and you've had your PS3 for years and it's about time for an upgrade, or if you're new to the PS3, this is where you should start.

Also, this IS worth getting even if you plan on upgrading to next gen consoles. There are still lots of games to play currently on the PS3 plus future titles that will be coming out only on PS3 and not PS4. I plan on playing my PS3 for years to come, even when I get my PS4. I was just pointing this out for the people saying it's not worth getting a PS3/Xbox360 atm since next gen is just around the corner.

But yes, this PS3 is awesome. I had to do a data transfer from my old PS3 (the one in the vid) to this one, and it took a while, but it was worth it. Oh, I haven't even talked about the game itself yet. GTA V is amazing. Although I did want a new PS3, GTA V was easily the deciding factor in why I chose to get this bundle.

I own and have played GTA IV, and I did like it. GTA V is just such a massive upgrade from GTA IV. So much more to do, many places to explore. Three main characters which you can switch to at any time as long as you're not in a mission. Each character has a specific power that only they can use. Also, you get to go open-world pretty quickly into the game which is good. What I mean by that is, usually in a GTA game, there's a certain amount of time at the very beginning where you have to play the story before you're allowed to go wherever you want and do whatever you want.

Graphically it looks better than GTA IV, and it's just so much more vast. GTA V is on a whole nother level than all the previous GTA games. Also they finally fixed the driving mechanics in V compared to IV. That was such a pain. One wrong touch of the analog stick won't make you go spinning out of control anymore. Also, my friend let me try his Pulse GTA V elite headset that is speciically tailored to the PS3 version of GTA V. If only I had an extra $180 to spend. Those headsets makes the gameplay feel so much more immersive.

I'm reviewing more of the bundle itself rather than the game. You should check out one of the other reviews or just look at the reviews in the actual GTA V section on Amazon if you want a review that's more about the game itelf. (just the standalone game reviews and not the reviews for this bundle).

Overall, I give this bundle and the game GTA V both 5/5 stars. Honestly, I think this game deserves all the hype it's been getting. Especially after playing it hands on. Unless you're not into sandbox games or you're turned off by some of the vulgarity that is constant across most GTA games, you should definitely pick this up. Unless you're one of those people waiting for a PC/next-gen version to be released.

Anyways, Can't wait to spend countless hours doing random stuff on GTA V. Don't even get me started on multiplayer. Hope this helps!

Ok so Ive been a PC gamer all my life.. The though of a console would give me a feeling of being "tied down" to a platform and certain specs that came with it. As a PC gamer you can update your rig, and push the boundaries of graphics on any game. Here is where the problem lies. The greatest game of all times GTA 5 being released and its not being released on PC first instead consoles. So I took the leap of faith and purchased myself this PS3 Console bundle with a copy of GTA-5. To say the latest, I could not be any more happier. PS3 is a great system, ultra fast, instant responses, and for $269 this deal is a steal!!! The game just itself is $59 with tax your well into $65-68 so when you look at it this way your getting a 500 GIGS PS3 with a wireless controller for $199 bucks.. In order for me to max this game out on my PC if/and when it comes out i would probably have to spend $200-300 on a new graphics card itself and here with this bundle I got the game, the system, and everything to have fun right in the box for as much as a standard graphics card cots for PC. Setup was a breeze, and before you know it I was smiling like a kid while jetting down Los Santos... and I got 3 other games on the way (Uncharted2,3 and the Last of Us!) I could not be any more happier!!! I feel I will be spending a lot of my fall/winter months with my new found love... in Summary I LOVE MY PS3! and my GTA5!! This bundle is the shiet! YEEEEHAA!!

Honest reviews on PS3 500 GB Grand Theft Auto V Bundle

This is by far the best deal on a PS3 EVER. You're getting a very decent 500GB HD along with this year's most anticipated game: GTA5. So I'm basically paying for the 12GB $199 model and getting a 500GB HD upgrade for $10 along with this year's most anticipated game. Awesome

!

Even though the PS4 is around the corner, the PS3 still has a LOT going for it for the next couple of years with at least 5 highly anticipated EXCLUSIVE titles coming before the end of the year (Beyond: Two Souls, Puppeteer, rain, FFX HD and Gran Turismo 6). Swallow that Xbox fanboys!

I have absolute no rush in getting a next gen system for the foreseeable future as I will wait for them to work out the bugs, lower the prices and release slimmer more efficient versions so I'm counting on my buddy PS3 for plenty of good times for the next 2-3 years at least! Plus, my PS+ subscription is good through 2015 and they will keep supporting the PS3 with free excellent games from its already outstanding gaming library. If you ask me, NOW is the best time EVER to get a PS3. See you online!

If you're in the market for a PS3 system, as of this writing in September 2013 this 500 GB GTA V bundle is the one to get.

From a value perspective this is a fantastic deal as the current base model PS3 is priced at $199 with a paltry 12 GB of hard drive storage. With this GTA-V bundle system you are paying $70 extra for a 500 GB hard drive, a free copy of GTA-V (priced at $60 and unlikely to be discounted anytime soon) and 1 free month of Playstation Plus. With my free month of PS+ activated I immediately downloaded FREE digital versions of 'Xcom Enemy Unknown,' 'Uncharted 3,' 'Saints Row 3,' and 'Machinarium.' Keep in mind that there were a good variety of other free PS+ games available but for now I was more than content with my initial batch of downloads which provided an added layer of immense value on top of an already generously priced bundle package.

Previously I've owned an 80gb PS3 Phat and after years of dedicated service that system was getting long in the tooth and the fan would screech at unbearably loud levels after gaming or watching blu-rays for 10 minutes so an upgrade was definitely in order as I expect to keep playing my PS3 for at least several years due to the backlog of physical games I have yet to complete as well as the monthly offerings from PS+. If you're upgrading from an OG Phat to these new super-slim models here are some of the major differences you'll notice:

+The new systems run super quiet. There is almost no discernible fan noise even after 6 hour+ gaming sessions.

+You will, however, hear disc access noise. Unlike the old ps3's the super slim uses cheaper manual slide out access panels to insert/remove discs so when the disc spins you will notice the noise. With that said, its not unbearable just noticeable but this tradeoff is completely reasonable in exchange for the near silent fan noise.

+System is compact and light. The old PS3's are heavy with a big footprint. These super-slims live up their billing and are light and much easier to transport or move around.

If you're in the market for a copy of GTA-V and in need of a new PS3 (or considering upgrading from your old version) this system bundle is certainly the way to go.

If you've ever played San Andreas then your going to love this, this game is not boring and there's alot to do, lots of off road vehicles for off-roading and lots of customization options for your cars.

Overall its a HUGE improvement over Grand Theft Auto IV, its brighter and more colorful, the people come to life in the game and better car handling, for people who care about graphics its a big improvement over IV but I'd like to point out that if you choose a game by its graphics then your never going to enjoy good games and being picky over graphics ruins the experience (but like I said they're great in this game).

No the game does NOT freeze, sadly I played it straight for over 10 hours without realizing it and it never froze nor did I experience any bugs at all, it played flawlessly, so I really don't know what these people are talking about it being buggy, if it doesn't freeze within that amount of time then I think its pretty obvious its not going to and maybe they are having problems with their Xbox and not the game.

The one thing that I do hate in this game is the crashes aren't as realistic is they are in IV, its similar when crashing in Saints Row, but I didn't pay $60 just so I could experience good crashes, I got it for free roaming, and after playing it for awhile you really don't even notice the cheesy crashes anymore, during gameplay you may notice things you don't like and an example of that would be the crashes, or maybe you don't like the way the planes and helicopters handle because of the wind blowing against it (the flying is realistic and helicopters are difficult to handle, which I like.. it'll make it harder for little kids to shoot me on multiplayer when they're in a chopper), but in my opinion this is the best Grand Theft Auto to date and I would strongly suggest you don't pass on this game because its worth it.

***THIS GAME IS RATED MATURE!!!***: so parents if you don't think your kids aren't mature enough to handle this game then DONT buy it for them, I'm sick of seeing parents complaining and the news making Grand Theft Auto games out to be a game that makes kids do bad things when in the first place the parents shouldn't even buy young kids a game that clearly says 17+ on the back and you have to be 17 and up to buy it, so please don't rate games badly based on your ignorance.

And if you get this game and notice that the online multilayer isn't up yet don't freak, it says its going to be up 2 weeks from this past 17th (GTA V release date)

The mission structure has been improved in GTA V with ample check-pointing. That's point number one. As highly rated as GTA IV was, even at the time I felt frustrated by constantly starting failed missions all the way from the top. Well, this time Rockstar has changed that and for that one change alone the game is much more enjoyable.

Everything else is as you would expect a GTA game to bejacking vehicles and cruising the open world as you see fit. The missions range from utterly awesome (the heists) all the way down to mundane races against an exercise-crazed character.

Speaking of crazythat pretty much includes every single character in GTA. No one is "normal" in this game. But that's the stylea realistic world inhabited by some parallel world of people whose motivations, personalities, and actions are blown up and exaggerated. By real-world standards, every character in the game would be diagnosed a psychopath. In GTA V, psycho-path is defined by Trevor Phillips, so anything less than Trevor-crazy seems normal.

But the game knows how to have fun and not take itself too seriously. GTA V would turn into a really dark drama (a crazy one)without the absurdity and comedy written in to the script. Instead, amidst the dark deeds that happen in GTA V, the whole experience feels light. Even the game world is bright, with Los Santos bathed in beatiful sunlight almost all the time during daylight hours. It rarely rains. And at the moon even manages to light up the night.

And that notorious torture scene? Meh, really not as bad as you think. I'm sure Rockstar knew what they were doing when they put that in the final product. You can't release a huge game like this without putting something controversal in it. You need that for publicity and it scores you points (usually) with your hardcore fans for staying on the edge and pushing boundaries. In the end, my opinion of this particular scene is that it is a bit corny (In keeping with the "light" feel of the game as I described). The person being tortured makes some blatant statements regarding a certain political topic and all comes off as being really goofy. I think that was the intention.

The characters are great, the voice acting is well done, and the writing to me is outstanding. The only thing that gets tiresome is driving. At some point you just want to fast travel mission to mission and the cab just isn't cutting it for me. I can only imagine the next GTA will implement a better fast travel system. Apart from that, I'm never for want of weapons and ammunition and money is plentiful. Good. Focus is stricly on the missions, story progression, and enjoying the world of Los Santos.

One of my favorite games of the year.

Meh. I had fun playing it but once the story was done I had no desire to keep playing. Online doesn't Appeal to me and I can't be bothered to locate 1000000 alien ship parts and stunt jump locations.

Honest reviews on Grand Theft Auto V - Xbox 360

Although I cannot review this game in its entirety, I can still tell you about some of the things ive noticed right away. I have not finished the game yet, but I am a good deal into it.

Before you even put in the playable disk you must install the first disk. Yes there are two disks, but do not install the second! (As in load it to your hard drive) Rockstar made an announcement about this, i just wanted to warn everyone aswell.

First off, as most gta games have been, you must complete a short mission before you can do whatever you like. No spoilers there.

Once you do get to free roam, it is amazing. The map is beautiful, and there is so much to do. This game is so far, amazing!

There was alot of debate about the driving engine in this game, I find it to be much better than gta 4.

Pros:

-Amazing game

-Beautiful map

-Tons of stuff to do

-Driving is awesome

Cons:

-You can say goodbye to your social life for a while!

-But on a serious note, there is no app for android to customize cars etc.

-Also there are some bugs. (Cars randomly flipping over, wrong clothes on character)

-no big glitches, but small things that make it not perfect.

Overall, Just buy it already! You're missing out!!

Update September 18th 2013.

-Loading (Or lack of loading) is flawless! You transition from cutscene to playing soo smoothly.

-The missions are extremely fun and have great variety!

-Ive played for about 8 hours (Focusing on missions) and im only 20% into the total missions.

-Switching weapons takes time to get used to, but is a great system overall

-Ive never been more into a story in a video game before!

There aren't a lot of books depicting Vader in his put down the rebellion stage as the dark lord being first on the field to lead the storm troopers into battle. The ominous figure is cast as either a liberator or destroyer, dependent on how you view the political regime of the empire. This decal can be placed on very easily, what I did differently than how the instructions described was a sponge with soap water squezzed almost dry and lightly slid across the sticky side of the decal to make it less sticky before applying to my PS3. Very easy and it looked great. Highly recommend to purchase, if you like cool Star Wars drawings or just like an epic battle scene which can let your imagination run wild. Like buying a mega lottery ticket, only it serves a practical purpose of protecting your expensive PS3 that kids touch when they come by.

I knew what I was in for when I bought this game because it was a movie game. It's a game that is not finished and lacking depth in terms of modes and campaign length. However, I also knew that this is a game by the team that made Transformers War for Cybertron. So I knew I would get, solid gameplay mechanics and a multiplayer that was hectic and fun. This game is basically a mod of Transformers WFC. There are some changes made to the multiplayer such as unique abilities as well as unique guns for each character. There are also powerups scattered throughout the maps which adds depth to the gameplay. Besides the fact the multiplayer is lacking in some areas such as not enough characters or map packs(hopefully free dlc), I really enjoyed it.

If you liked Transformers WFC then I would recommend this game. Just don't expect a sequel to WFC, just think of it as a spinoff.

Pros

+ Unique Characters for online play

+ Unique Weapons for each character

+ No double jumping which means no more bunny hopping for scouts

+ Fun and Hectic Multiplayer

+ Decent Campaign

+ Multiplayer seems a little more balanced then WFC

+ Same great sound from WFC

Cons

Campaign is short

No co-op in campaign mode

Needs more maps and characters in multiplayer(this can be addressed)

Some graphical glitches

Control issues with hunters in jet mode

No escalation mode

Took away development time from Transformers WFC 2

Best Deals for Transformers: Dark of the Moon - Xbox 360

the game is very fun and the controls are exactly the same as war for cybertron which is overall a better choice than dark of the moon. My main complaint is how short the game is : 7 missions which on easy or medium should take 5-6 hours to complete the game. All of the achievements are easy to get besides two. don't worry about spoilers because it is a prequel and takes place days from the movie's events. The multiplayer is good but the autobots are overpowered because of warpath bumblebee and ironhide. I can't say you should pick it up immediately because of how short the game is but, you have to rent it you will most likely beat it while renting it.

Dictated by 10 year old Noah:

If you want to play a game for the storyline fun, don't pick this game. If you don't care about storyline and play for gameplay/action this is fine.

Fun Parts:

Fighting Shockwaves "Beast"

Playing as Megatron

Getting to play as Autobots or Deceptacons

Play as Starscream [my favorite level]

Bad Parts:

Ending

Finished in a few days

Not a lot of strategy needed

Don't get me wrong, it was a fun game, but don't you pay or let your kids pay full price with their Christmas money.
