COD4 is truly one of the best first person shooter games. You can play the story mode which takes you through an entire war, with a detailed and intriguing story, and has many different styles of play. Some stages will require straight gun fights, while others will require you to be stealth and snipe your enemies from afar.

The best thing about this game is the Multiplayer function. This is such a great feature as it extends the play value of the game. In most games, once you beat the story mode, there is hardly any reason to play again. however, in multiplayer mode, you will be playing with other gamers around the world online, for free, and get to eliminate each other. Multiplayer mode has many different modes to choose from such as "capture the flag", or "free for all" but the main objectives are all the same. eliminate your opponents!

This is the game that made me decide to buy a PS3. I'd only had a Wii before, and figured that was enough. Then for Christmas one of my friends bought this for himself as a "present" along with a PS3, and invited me over to play it. The moment it started up I realized I needed to get this game.

The cinematics and graphics really are top-notch. Even though it's an older game by now (the next Call of Duty is already slated to drop in less than a month), this still holds up among many of the newer games coming out. I dare you not to drop your jaw when you go through the "Shock and Awe" level...just amazing.

The gameplay is really easy to get ahold of. I'd always been a fairly loyal Nintendo fan, so I hadn't played a lot of First Person shooters, but within 20 minutes or so I was blowing through the easy difficulty. The game does ramp up considerably for the hardcore crowd though, so if you really want to put your skills to the test, this is the game for you.

Speaking of putting your skills to the test. This is the one warning and the one "bad" thing I have to say about the game. This game has been out for almost a year, and some people have been playing it non-stop since it came out. If you go online you will die. A lot. I mean it, you will not know what hit you for your first few rounds. The online component is fantastic, but I would really recommend spending a good deal of time on the campaign mode before you even try to hop online. Or better yet, start a game with some of your friends so the odds might be a little more even.

A quick note about the Game of the Year edition. It's cool looking, but if you can get the regular edition for cheaper you should probably go for it. The only difference is a voucher to download the 4 extra maps for multiplayer, and you can only use them online if every one you're playing with has downloaded them as well. Most people haven't, so I've only gotten to use them a handful of times. They look neat, but ultimately you won't get to use them much.

There's a good reason this game was given a game of the year edition. It's probably the best FPS to come out on the PS3 so far, and possibly this generation. On the 360 it even managed to dethrone Halo 3 on Live for awhile because so many people were into it. Buy it and see, odds are you will not be dissapointed.

If you love playing Unreal or Halo, this game will probably catch you off guard. However, in the recent surge of "realistic" shooters, COD4 really seems to take the cake. The story mode is enthralling through most of the missions. If you haven't played many next-gen games before this, you'll likely play through the first mission with your jaw on the floor. The game looks very detailed and gameplay is smooth and entertaining.

Even as good as the one-player missions are, the real reason for buying this or most shooters is for the online play. You'll find plenty of opponents waiting online in one of the many gameplay types. Online games range from 4-18 players depending on the mode, and it has a big effect. Smaller games will make you feel a little more adrenaline because you don't know where the next enemy is going to jump out. Some of the bigger games can be a little more laid back, and make it easier to play without be afraid of dying.

The interface of the game is well-made, controls are smooth, even if they may take a few plays to get used to, and sounds and visuals are realistic for the weapons and maps. This is not a game where you can run straight through the middle of a field and come out on the other side alive, since 3-4 bullets from many guns will kill you. That said, a lot of the games will require you to out-think your online foes, or at least be quicker to the draw.

This Game of the Year edition of COD4 comes with (I believe) 4 extra maps in a "map pack", a $10 value for free. This was not a breaking point for me in the purchase, but some of them are pretty cool. When you enter the code in the Playstation Store and download the maps, you then install them to the HDD and they are immediately playable in split-screen and online modes. They are all pretty fun to play, but if you can find COD4 without the GOTY distinction for a cheaper price (I'd say at least $10) go ahead and pick it up. The extra maps aren't really used enough to be necessary.

All in all, it's the best shooter in terms of realism I've played to this point, and I'd recommend this game for anyone who enjoys shooters (with a little strategy) or anyone who likes military games, because this game immerses you in military lingo and strategy, especially in the solo missions.

I bought this excited that it was the game of the year edition for PS3. Game of the year edition comes with all the extra multiplayer maps that others had to pay for on the Playstation Network. I was disappointed when I really received the Greatest Hits version. I checked the website to make sure and it said

"This game has recently become part of the "Greatest Hits" program and the packaging has been updated. You may receive the standard or greatest hits version of the game; while packaging may vary, the game content is the same. "

This is an outright lie. The game content is not the same and now I will have to pay an extra $15 to get the multiplayer maps that should have been included according to Amazon.

There's one very annoying thing about the Game of the Year Edition for the PS3 that makes me glad I didn't pay extra for it: it's no different than the regular edition. While the PC version offers extras, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for the PS3 no longer gives you the bonus map pack (or anything else) for paying extra and purchasing the Game of the Year Edition. Any additional map packs (I found one, the "Variety Map Pack") have to be downloaded from the PlayStation store for an extra fee. If you're looking at the GotY edition for the purpose of multiplayer, keep this in mind as nothing extra comes in the GotY and the "Variety" map pack costs extra to purchase. The "bonus map pack" referred to on Activision's site was a limited-time-only promotion.

Now that I've played this game on the PC, XBox 360, and PS3, I have to say that the XBox 360 feels just a bit better--but the PS3's translation is still very good. As a PC Gamer coming to consoles, I have a hard time finding a first-person shooter that I'm even barely competent in. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the PS3 has been one of the best translations for me (my other favorite is the Orange Box). It has a very "playable" feel, making my WASD-familiar brain feel very comfortable switching over to the PS3's controller. While I've seen more than one title using very obvious auto-aim, making your reticle snap-to and stick or making anyone in the neighborhood of your shots magically sprout magnets and pull fire to them, CoD: Modern Warfare doesn't do this. Instead it just makes it easier for me to center on my target while I'm running and/or crouching, jumping, etc.--it's like the right stick moves consistently smoother. That makes it just plain easier to multi-task. Given that I typically have some pretty hefty hardware on the PC, I wasn't certain if the PS3 version would match the quality of my high-end gaming machine. I was pleasantly surprised when things looked just as sharp on the console as they do on the PC: the programmers definitely took advantage of the PS3's unique hardware.

I've now played this game's Single-Player Campaign through more than once, and loved it. Like other titles in the Call of Duty series, it uses team-based play, and simulates your team using the computer to "drive" your teammates. Continuing in the tradition of the other titles, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare adds more structure to the missions, more life to the characters, and more depth to the story. You spend most of the game as new recruit 'Soap' MacTavish, but you also get to flash back to an earlier point in the story, play as your commanding officer, and learn more about him.

One odd departure from other games is that there are storyline sequences that are not exactly "playable", but neither are they cutscenes. You live a segment of the storyline through the eyes of the person going through it. These are short, so they don't frustrate, and what they do is heighten the drama. It's an interesting technique, and because it isn't overused, it works well here to keep the storyline going.

Another great pacing trick is that the storyline spans countries. It crosses continents and it puts you in more than one spot: one of my favorites was manning three guns using night-vision cameras aboard a large plane as it provides air support to your team on the ground. Overall, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare graphics are very detailed, the environments feel authentic, and the sounds impressed me. I liked the dialogue and I really enjoyed the fact that my teammates seemed to be somewhat intelligent. There were some really neat goals in each mission, and I have fond memories of the adrenaline rush. I'm delighted that they made a Modern Warfare 2.

I couldn't believe what a great game this is. A fisherman for over 30 years I didn't expect much but this game is truly is a fishing simulator. The best part about it is online options and lobby you can create any kind of fishing tournament restricting the line to 2 pound test, pan fish only, all the way to any combination you can think of . You can even restrict motors to four hp or any boat they own.

This is an excellent game. You have to find good fishing spots, and arrange your tackle. There is tons of equipment, boats, etc to choose from. This is the best fishing simulation I have ever played on a console. The game is easier if you already have a good amount of fishing knowledge, but the game will teach you if you're patient. This is a great game to play online with friends while chatting. It's fun just to drive your boat up to a competitor and watch them reel in the big one. I almost feel like I'm outside fishing when I play this game.

I know this game is old and on regular xbox but you can play it on the 360. I am an avid fisherman and have played almost every fishing game out from Black Bass on old school nintendo to Rapala Fishing on xbox360 and this game destroys all of them. It is so realistic with using every type of lure and plastics you can think of, the choice of spinner or baitcasting reels, rod strengths, braided, mono, flourocarbon line, texas, carolina, and another rig I forgot, and so much more. You start out fishing tourneys building up your career from getting a simple jon boat to buying a beautiful bass boat and buying more and more tackle as you get more money. There are different types of casting and you can troll around too. The controls on this game are phenomenal which I rate this the best fishing game ever. I hope they make a newer version for the 360.

This is the most realistic fishing title out there that I have found. The graphics are way cool and the fact that you can't see underwater makes it even more realistic. All you see is you, the boat, and your environment above the water. Nice. I had so much fun with this game that I had to stick with it until I beat it and collected all the boats, motors, and colors. The bass boats with the biggest motors are so much fun to drive! I highly recommend this game.

I was excited for this game after enjoying FN round 3 so much.

First of all this is a video game. You cannot replicate the complexities of boxing with two hands and a controller, that being said. I understand this but expected more.... as a video game...this one sucks.

The positive:

The negative:

the controlsI dont care whether you use buttons or the stick, but when I command a punch or a bob and weave, I could really go without the half second delay. In real boxing it doesnt work like that, you puch/move when you need to. (Yes, I box) In Gran Tourismo or Forza motorsport the reaction isnt like that; hence, they are good games. You can't do that to boxing, timing and reaction time are critical. This game is missing this.

online the douchebags with no skill that costantly punch and win. I am trying to figure out how to counter them. Oh wait, if I could actually block or weave or punch when I commanded it to, I may have a chance. This game due to the control delay will allow those who sick/button mash randomly do well since the other guy can't time his blocks and counters due the delay in the control.

Counterpunch if boxer A punches and simply misses, and you hit back you are not credited a counterpunch "bonus". If you block a punch from boxer A and counter, you get a little bounus. If you lean/weave away you get the bounus too. Why not the first too?

Boxer Movement One speed. What the hell? if you are getting pummelled by some reject you should be able to flee or more than 1mph. Foot/hip movement in this game, which is half of boxing, is a joke.

Also, the counterpunch system is ridiculous in this game. That is basically the premise of winning. Normal non-counter punches dont do anything to harm the other guay, but you block/parry a jab and you put a straight to his face he's practically on the ground. This is ridiculous.

I could smash my opponents face with a 5 left/right hook combo to the face and it's like nothing happened. Oh wait, It all has to be a counter, that's right.

Overall, EA really screwed this one up. Shame on them. I hope a lot of people get fired. FN R3 is better. I am really really close to taking this game to gamestop to get some beer money.

Also, this online update to add the button pushing won't do squat to this game unless the delays go away.

This game is too pretty for itself.

I've played the previous Fight Nights and they've each made improvements upon the previous ones and built upon what was successful and implemented changes which generally made sense and felt as though they were refining their fight system. However, with Fight Night Round 4 they've changed the fight dynamics to an extent where even a Fight Night veteran is easily lost wondering what the developers intended and what is the rhythm they are looking for in the ring. They claim that style makes fights in this game but honestly there is only one style that dominates and wins and that is counter-punching after slipping or performing "perfect" blocks. On one level it makes sense as you're effectively capitalizing on your opponent's mistakes and making your own opportunities but the problem is that nothing else is really effective. You can be an aggressive fighter and successfully unload 3-4-5 punch combinations round after round but you'll somehow do less damage than someone who can pull off a half dozen counter punches. In a boxing match, if you were to catch someone in the middle of his punch and counter it with a nice power shot you'd probably would do some heavy damage but in this game anything that is parried correctly leaves you open to a punch that does 5 times damage than the same punch if you pulled it off in a normal exchange. It's pretty ridiculous to parry a jab or cross and have the chance to unload some Rocky Balboa hay-maker but that's exactly what you have in FNR4.

Overall, the developers wanted to create a game that was somehow truer to the challenges you'd face as a boxer but under the restraints and controls of a videogame. Unfortunately, it didn't really work and you're left with a game wondering what the heck they were thinking when they change the game dynamics so much. I mean the previous Fight Night was perhaps less realistic but it was still ultimately a fun video game which unfortunately FNR4 is not. I'm lucky that I never came around to buying the game until Christmas 09 when it was selling for $15-20 as opposed to paying full price when it came out because it's left a bad taste as it is and I think I'm going to hang up my gloves with the Fight Night series after this one.

The game got really repetitive and the majority of the achievements take a long time to get, I'm very glad i didn't spend the full 60 dollars for this game when it came out.

Its graphics and fighting mechanics work well and its a blast to play against your friends for a few hours, But the campaign is lacking and its training you do in-between fights to get better stats, i found myself just letting the computer do it for me because they were normally too difficult and REALLY boring for me, which then makes the fights harder... If i were to do it again i still wouldn't train my skills myself, its THAT bad.

When my friend told me about this game, I was a bit confused as to why a 2D platformer was not a downloadable XBLA title. But he was raving about the game so much that I just HAD to pick up a copy.

Needless to say, I am EXTREMELY impressed with this game. I could go on forever about it, but I won't. Instead, I will just break it down into a few components:

Gameplay: 5/5

Smooth controls, some of the best platforming I've seen in a while. Truly great level design.

Multiplayer: 4.9/5

The only reason this isn't a 5 is that it doesn't have online multiplayer. However, the experience of sitting with a couple of friends on your couch and playing together makes for a great experience. There is little-to-no frustration involved in multiplayer (unlike some other recent multiplayer platformers).

Presentation: 6/5

They get a billion thumbs WAY up! The art is phenomenal, everything is charming, and it is extremely obvious that they put a lot of time into the details that really makes the game come to life.

I recommend this game to anyone of any age. It's silly, charming and just straight up fun.

I had heard nearly nothing about this game upon its release. Amazing word of mouth eventually made its way to me, but I didn't really know anything about Rayman (other than Rabbids). I finally found the tid-bit of info that immediately had me on my way to the game store: co-op in the fashion of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

The co-op system used here is actually better than the one used in the Mario helmed game. At any time during the game a buddy can join in on your game. If they die, they become a bubble. It's then up to you to pop them so that they can continue playing. It improves the Mario system by making the joining of a game seamless (no menu to go to, you can do it anytime), and giving you direct control over your bubble so you can be popped more quickly (no waggling to get it to move in another player's general direction). It also does away with lives. Paired with the bubble system, not having lives makes this game great to play with someone of a disparate skill level. You can tackle harder levels together and never leave them sitting idly because they died one too many times. I was thrown off, but came to love the removal of a lives system, and welcomed improvements to the already stellar co-op and bubbling ideas. Playing through the game with a friend is an absolute blast and you're missing out on a ton of camaraderie-fueled shenanigans if you don't. I plowed through the game with my girlfriend in a matter of a few days (having to do all that I could not to play ahead without her) and we both loved every second of it.

This system is also great because it allows me to play with my young nieces (who are understandably terrible) without it losing their attention because they've died and have nothing to do. I think in time it might be to them what the original Super Mario Bros. was to me, and if that doesn't let you in on the regards I have for this game I don't know what will. That said, while they can play the first few levels with me, that's about it at the moment.

The difficulty of the main levels has a nice curve, and as others have mentioned the new abilities you get are introduced and expanded upon nicely without any need for explanation. The game cleverly pits you in areas in which you have to use your new powers to escape before you can move on, then later rewards you for using them in new ways. The game is full of clever little things like this.

And there are plenty of levels for you to tackle. I feared an extremely short game, but midway through another set of levels opens up that expands on the themes already present (forest, desert, ice/fire, sea, mechanical). On top of all that you have the fiendish treasure chest races, and the secret, brutal final level to give you more to do and a jump in difficulty. I've spent nearly a week now with the game and I'm still working to collect everything there is; you'll give up before the supply of challenges does.

I'll leave it to you to experience the gorgeous scenery and infectious melodies. I find myself gawking and constantly commenting about how pretty something in the environment looks. I'm personally not a fan of the character design though. Has a very 90s vibe to it (which is understandable), but if this were a brand new property I feel like the characters would gel more with the levels and look stunning. And good luck trying to get the music out of your brain. I constantly find myself whistling the tunes and hearing the chipmunkesque vocals in my head. You might not dig 'em at first, but they will overcome any resistance you may have.

Anyway, I can't tell you to buy this game with enough fervor (and that's coming from someone who rents the majority of the games he plays) because not only is it worth every penny and more, but it's one of those games you pick up with no expectations and then start grabbing random people in the street yelling at them to buy the game so that this work of art is appreciated and not seen as a failed experiment because it was released the same month as bunch of triple A blockbuster type games. Also, while you're buying this grab Tomba too.

From start to finish, Rayman origins is a masterpiece. I completed every level and every bonus level, scored 32 of 36 achievements for 725 gamerscore and got almost every electoon. Graphics are excellent, gameplay is perfect and levels are all wonderfully designed. Took me about 20 hours to beat and I wish there was more because it was such a blast. If you like platformers, get this. I don't even like platformers, but this was just amazing. One of the best games I have played this year.

Rayman Origins is triple A 2D platforming perfection at its finest. This title stands right up against the other heavy weights of this genre from past and present without breaking a sweat. I would give this one 11/10 or 6 stars if I could. Without re-writing a bunch of things that have already been said in other reviews here, I will wrap up by saying I have been gaming since the NES was a brand new console, and Rayman Origins is in my top 5 games of all time.

Again I'm given the difficult task of reviewing a game of mixed renown. In the case of Star Wars Unleashed it is safe to say it did well with its' fan base selling millions of copies but was received with lukewarm scrutiny by the critics. Because of this I did not know quite what to expect. Having just beat the game all I can say is it delivered the goods I expected and was in no way a disappointment. Like many other games that belong to the action platform genre it is a blast while playing but despite the fun you are having it ends too abruptly.

If there is a single crime Force Unleashed is guilty of it is that in some ways it is akin to playing God of War with a light saber. Finishing off bosses or large foes requires button mash mini games. Most are easy enough with the hardest one requiring the player to pull a Star Destroyer from the sky as Tie fighters attack mercilessly. As you swathe your way through storm troopers, rebels, aliens, and walkers you collect points from slain foes which eventually make you "level up" so you can improve force powers or buy brand new ones. There are many epic feats Star killer can do and luckily enough a few special attacks such as "lightning bomb" are brand new to the franchise.

Most surprising is the story line is top notch. Side characters such as the beautiful and resourceful Imperial pilot Eclipse and Proxy the friendly yet psychotic droid are oddly endearing. The voice acting is delivered wonderfully as you would expect from a Lucas arts title. In some ways the plot pulled me in just as much as the one in Knights of the old republic though Force Unleashed should not be mistaken for an rpg.

The only thing Force Unleashed can be faulted for is that you visit some worlds twice. Felucia and Kashyk come to mind immediately though I'm happy to say that the lay out drastically changes for each visit. The environments can be truly breathtaking and I was very impressed by the graphics as a whole.

In my whole time playing I can only think of one glitch. When I fought Vader the second time our life bars froze. Pretty much we were both invincible so I had to start my battle over with him upon resetting my 360. I was glad the same glitch did not happen twice. I should mention though the load times are slow the auto save points are put in good places so rest assured dying does not require you restart the whole level.

On account this is the Ultimate Sith edition you are also getting the Jedi temple, Tattoine, and Hoth levels. Two of these missions extend an alternate history in which Star Killer becomes the new Darth Vader. The Jedi Temple was exclusive to the ps2 version until now.

How worth while this game is depends on two factors. If you've already beaten Force Unleashed I'm hesitant to say if the 3 hours of extra content will be worth it for you. Secondly be forewarned this is a Star Wars game from the action plat former mold thus you can likely beat it in one or two nights if you have nothing better to do.

If however you want to know how The Rebellion got started and be put in the shoes of one of the most epic Jedi/Sith rear kickers of all time Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith edition is a steal at the present asking price!

Pros

+ A plot of romance, betrayal, redemption, and conspiracies delivered with flair and passion.

+Mostly fluid combat and varied ways of using Force powers

+Game does not penalize you for failing real time event button combinations on the lowest difficulty

+Some of the best voice acting I've heard in awhile

Cons

-It is difficult to lock onto what you want sometimes to target objects or foes with your Jedi abilities.

-The sound track is not bad per se but we've all heard these same tired musical scores thousands of times by now.

-The game is not completely absent of glitches.

-Can be beaten quickly

If you've already beaten the original I cannot in good conscious suggest you trudge through the Ultimate edition for a measly 3 additional hours of play on the special disc that includes the bonus levels. Only the Hoth mission is exclusive. The others can be purchased on Xbox live as downloadable content.

Ending Thoughts: It is hard for me to describe exactly how I feel about Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition. Most complaints I could level at it would also have to be taken up with other games from the action genre. While it doesn't do anything new it does it very well.

Certain people will have a beef with Unleashed merely on account it uses the Star Wars license. Many reviewers are prone to attack a title if it some how connects with a movie or popular franchise. Force Unleashed shamefully draws both those cards.

Yet I never witnessed an instance this game lied about what it was. For those of us that wanted a game similar to Devil may cry or God of war with Jedi, Sith, and Storm trooper it is a dream come true. Had Unleashed been an rpg I would have complained about its' short span. However safe to say most of us know the appeal of this romp is throwing around hapless unfortunate souls with our minds right before we electrocute them with force lightning! On that raw visceral level Unleashed succeeds while offering a memorable tale to boot!

Star Wars The Force Unleashed was probably the best Star Wars game I've ever played. I didn't actually own it though so when I saw this deal for The Ultimate Sith Edition I jumped on it. For some people it's probably not worth the buy if they already own the 2 maps that were previously released. Disc 1 is the original game with all of the character packs. Disc 2 is the three newer maps and all the rest of the previously released downloadable content. The game is so much fun I say trade in your old one and pick this one up it's worth it too for a cheaper price.

A great game at a great price, but wait? Is it? Having never purchased the The Force Unleashed when it originally released, mostly due to some game play annoyances, I finally decided to buy it after they decided to release an ultimate collection containing all of the game's post release dlc, assuming this to be the better value. For this better value, I paid an additional $15-20, hoping that they trade of for nearly $30 worth of dlc would be worth it. However, I was very much wrong, a fact I discovered when I received my product. Open opening my game, I found that the game had two discs, one with the original game, the other disc containing the three dlc packs that had been released for the game. Upon completing everything in the main adventure, I had hoped to carry over my game stats to the dlc packs, but unfortunately, that is not allowed. You have to start separate save files for each dlc pack, something that is very inconvenient, but also very annoying after having spent 30-40 hours buffing your character only for it to go to waste. Each dlc pack was no longer than 1-2 hours, and that was playing through very slowly, and overall, did not add to the experience of the original game. So, my advice, just like the title indicates, is to save your money, and just buy the original game.

This is a great game but these Amazon sellers are charging over price for this game. The extra levels you can get on Xbox live Marketplace if you have the regular edition. Don't pay unreasonable prices.

So buy the regular version. Then download the extra levels on xbox live. Have fun and don't let these sellers take advantage of you. They shouldn't be overcharging in this economy ;)

I'm a total Star Wars nerd...I even like the prequel movies (though I have to plug my ears during much of Jar Jar's dialog). Anyway, I think this may be one of the most graphically polished games on the system. It's just a shame that much of the game play is cheap and annoying. Every time I learn a new power, I'm immediately introduced to enemies that are magically immune to it. Congratulations...you just learned the Force Push...now here's a tall black storm trooper that you can't use it on because he's three feet taller than the others (never mind the fact that I was just pulling Tie Fighters out of the air with the force). Hey! I just learned to shoot lightning out of my fingers! Time to introduce the magical electro-storm troopers that are engulfed in electricity and invulnerable. Clever huh? Also, far too often I'm trying to target one of the 20 enemies attacking me cheaply and the game mistakenly thinks I'm trying to stack crates with the force during the battle so it targets some random piece of debris instead and I end up wasting my lightning on it. The enemies time their attacks so that when you get knocked down (every few seconds) they hit you again as you're standing up. If you die at the end of a battle, you get to start it all over again! Hooray! I've seen the same two quick time event AT-ST animations a hundred times due to replaying the cheap battles over and over. But...the game is pretty and it's Star Wars so I'm still playing it.

This is a one of the few games that can be made for xbox, gamecube, PS2, and PC, and is still awesome on GBA! The grapics aren't as good, but I really can't blame Ubi for that. On all of the other versions of Splinter Cell, the graphics are 3-D. This game would be hard to play with 3-D graphics for GBA. The missions are slightly different from what I have been told.

If you are a person who gats a game and expects to be good at it the first time you play it, this is NOT the game for you!

Splinter Cell takes alot of time to learn. The entire game is about being able to be stealthy. You don't want to use up all of your amunition. That is why there are dark spots you can hide in to jump out and use your fighting skills to knock your enemy out.

Pros

1.Same basic objective to the game.

2.Lots of fun to sneek around and knock out people.

3.Lots of cool moves that you can use on Sam Fisher.

Cons

1.Can't get all of the old weapons

2.Very difficult!

3.Frustrating to have to play the missions all over again if you lose!

The A.I. in this game is pretty good.

The problem with it is, your enemy can react to you to fast for you do do something. If you are move to fast you get detected, if you move to slow you get detected.

One of the most frustrating things of this game is the fact that if you get deteced, the enemy will, A. Shoot, or Stun you. B. Will flip the alams and you you have about 6 sec. to find the switch before the mission is over.

All in all, I found this game to be challenging but rewarding if you win.

Okay, you are not going to get the same game as on the Xbox, PS2, or Game Cube, but in and of itself, this is a great GBA game. And there ARE stealth aspects to the game, but game play is much simpler than on the consoles. Graphics are super detailed.

We've played Splinter Cell on the XBox and PS2 and loved it. Even though the GBA version is far simpler, it's still quite fun!

First off, where the XBox and other platforms had an incredibly detailed 3D shooter with amazing lighting effects, this is the GBA. So you get a 2D side scroller. You have to accept right off that this isn't quite the same detail level.

Once you get past that hurdle and accept this as a "fun stealthy game", it really is quite enjoyable. There are the same general mission aims as in the other versions, so you have hostages to rescue, contacts to talk with and enemies to kill. You have to use stealth as much as possible, shooting only when necessary.

The graphics are reasonably good for the GBA system, and the music works quite well. The controls are extremely simple to master, so there isn't a lot of button mashing. Most areas are more like puzzles, trying to figure out exactly what the best way to get past an obstacle is.

Highly recommended for spy and stealth game lovers.

If you've played Splinter Cell on the PC or any of the home systems, than you allready know what a fantastic game it is. When it was announced that Splinter Cell would be ported to the GBA, a few eyebrows were raised questioning how much of the game's substance can be crammed into a little 32-bit cartridge. Well, Ubi Soft did a better than expected job with porting Splinter Cell to the GBA, and while it may look like an average side scroller to the naked eye, there is more here than one might think. First off the graphics are nicely done, and everyone's favorite secret agent commando Sam Fisher is fluidly animated for the most part. The gameplay tries to incorporate aspects from it's bigger console bretheren such as using stealth to your advantage, while mixing it with basic 2-D platform elements. Splinter Cell for the GBA is nicely paced and action packed from beginning to end, but the game is rather short in length and really doesn't offer anything else. All that aside, Splinter Cell is a much better than expected game for the GBA that attempts to carry the spirit of the original game, and while it has it's flaws, it surprisingly holds together well.

Do not believe the grossly negative reviews of this control or the OUYA itself; the hardware is all very well built. Early weaknesses in the controller have been corrected for the retail release. All the buttons and sticks feel very solid, the controller itself has a nice heft to it, and is comfortable in my hands. I'm not sure I would rank it at the same build quality as xbox and PS3, but it's very close. The $50 price feels a bit high, since the console+control is $100.

Concerning lag/glitchyness/bugs/etc... In my experience, all the control problems I have run in to have been software related. A lot of the games available on OUYA have so far been direct ports of mobile/tablet games and the developers did not take a lot of time to convert things over to a console with a tranditional controller. Some games DO have some button lag, and others do not, but it so far has been nothing I can blame on the controller itself.

Early OUYA controllers had problems. People have said they felt cheap, the buttons got stuck or they didn't press well, and the covers fell off. Ouya promised to fix the problem, and it certainly appears as if they have. These post-public release controllers are much improved. They fit well in the hands and are neither too heavy nor too light, the buttons work perfectly, and I just don't have a single complaint about them!

First, of the four controllers that I got one has a bad right direction button on the pad, which happened to be my first controller synced the first time I booted. I didn't know that I just had to reboot the Ouya to connect another controller as my #1.

Second, I find that the d-pad and the main (O-U-Y-A) buttons are really stiff, and sometimes the O doesn't register.

Third, the touchpad at the top is usable, but very sensitive, and would prefer games didn't use it for primary features. The one game that I've tried that used it for level selection was cumbersome, and using it for keyboard input is just painful.

It's not nearly the nicest controller feel I've used, which would probably be a tie between the later Sega controllers, or several USB Logitech controllers I've used (PS2 layout).

On the positive side, the size is much better for me than the xbox-360 controllers, which I find too small. I also think the weight/balance is nice as well. They feel really sturdy.

Off Topic...

For the most part, I got the Ouya because I felt it would be a great platform for retro game emulators. Most of my time so far has been with the SuperGNES (SNES Emulator), and has been fun. I've also played with a few others, and liking it a lot.

I think that there is a lot of potential for the platform, but think the "discover" section could use a little bit more work. It would be nice to be able to see say a youtube video clip of games prior to download/install. One of the most popular games is nearly a GB in size, when you have limited storage space (you can't yet install games to USB) you really need to add more tools to see what a game is like before downloading.

On that note, a "Media" category, for entertainment feeds, such as netflix, amazon video, revision 3, etc, would be nice as well.

I have not been disappointed, at all. It works as well as a PS3 or Xbox controller. There is one weird thing, the way you install the batteries. There should have been instructions. I was afraid I was going to break it, trying to figure out how to install the batteries. I did not, but the fear was there. I would purchase another if I had the need.

First of all, yes there were some launch issues. Yes some Kickstarters have been having trouble getting their Ouyas on time. Yes the controllers had a lot of lag before the latest firmware updates. Yes the buttons got stuck under the faceplate in early controller models.

But all these issues either have been addressed or are in the process of being addressed.

As for what I think? I love it. The controller, minus some initial launch issues, is one of the best controllers I have ever used. I like it better than the Dualshock and the Wii Classic Controller Pro. (my only two reference points) It is comfortable to hold and feels well balanced. The buttons, triggers and analog sticks are all smooth and sturdy. This is no Madcatz controller. This is what you would expect from a first party hardware dev. The only quirks I have seen is with the battery compartment being accessed through the faceplate and the touchpad which doesn't get utilized near enough.

I have plans to start using this controller for my PC rather than my Wii Classic Controller Pro. It is that good.

When Majesco released Zumba Fitness for the Kinect in 2010, by most accounts it was a groaner. It was clear that the game had been rushed to market to try to cash in on the Kinect launch. The result was a sloppy and forgettable game. In 2011, they made amends by releasing Zumba Fitness Rush. This version added much better motion tracking, real Zumba personalities like Beto and Gina Grant, an improved tutorial, and much more engaging graphics.

I'm happy to say that the newest iteration, Zumba Fitness Core, builds on the improvements and makes the game even better.

When you start off the game, you see stylized videos of a number of famous Zumba personalities, including Kass (Martin), Tanya (Beardsley), Nick (Logrea), Loretta (Bates), Gina (Grant), and Beto. Their animated counterparts will be your instructors throughout the game. While in the previous version they looked more "cartoony", with this version they're starting to almost look like the real person (almost).

Some of the options in the main menu are the same as previous versions, while others are new. They are:

"Single Song": You can choose a Single Song to jump right into dancing right away. You can scroll through songs and choose them by instructor (whom you can identify either by their picture or the color of the button), or by name, intensity (low, medium, high), genre (e.g., samba, disco, cumbia, hip-hop, etc.), or workout type (warm up, core, cardio, cardio with some core, core with some cardio, and cool down). 17 of the 33 songs are licensed tracks, and 16 are Zumba originals, an impressive ratio compared to past Zumba games. Each song has a venue associated with it, which you can change. The venues range from city nightclub scenes to open air stadiums to scenes reminiscent of Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, and Hawaii.

Dancing works pretty much the same as previous versions of the game. You have one Zumba instructor whom you'll mirror the moves of, reinforced by other dancers in the background doing the same moves. Animated visual cues will come on the screen to let you know to get ready for the next series of steps. You'll also see a little silhouette of your body in the lower left hand corner that you can match against the instructor. The one thing I thought was missing was some kind of status bar to tell you how much of the song was left.

Some reviews have complained that the choreography can be repetitive, but I think these fail to understand the nature of Zumba: repetition of certain "classic" dance steps is by design, as it helps make the class accessible to both beginners and advanced alike and helps people start burning calories quicker. In other words, it's an exercise program first and a dance program second. If you're looking for more elaborate choreography, I'd stick with a dance game like Dance Central or Just Dance.

I was very, very impressed by the motion detection in this game. For the most part I found the accuracy to be excellent, even down to detecting which arm and leg you're moving (something the Wii, for example, could never do). When I tried most songs for the first time I usually scored about a 50%, which was enough for 3 of 5 stars. But as I repeated the songs and started to memorize the moves, I found my score and my accuracy going higher. One other little detail they've added is that if you really mess up on a song, the instructor at the end of the song will let you know with a shrug or a little head shake, unlike previous versions where the instructor would jump up and down excitedly no matter how you did. I also really liked how I could play the game even though the Kinect sensor is only about 6-7 feet from me; with other games I have to rearrange my entire living room.

At the end of each dance you'll see your level, your score, the calories you burned, and the percentage of moves you got right. You'll also see a rating from 1 to 5 stars. You'll have the option of taking your picture (thankfully it doesn't randomly take pictures of you without your consent), as well as sharing your progress on Facebook.

"Full Class" lets you take virtual Zumba classes, which are basically single songs strung together. You can choose Short Classes (about 19-25 minutes), Mid-Length Class (about 44-48 minutes), or Full-Length Classes (about 57-62 minutes). You can also put together Custom Classes choosing your own duration and song lists. One major improvement they've made is the inclusion of low intensity songs that can help you properly warm up and stretch before exercises as well as cool down afterwards.

"Learn The Steps" is Zumba Fitness Core's tutorial section. You can learn four basic steps for Salsa, Merengue, Samba), Bollywood, Reggaeton, and Cumbia. After you select a style and a step, you need to match Beto dancing that step in slow motion. As with Dance Central his arms or legs will glow red if you're completely missing the target. Once you get the steps right you can try it in real time. The nice thing about perfecting the moves in the tutorial is that a lot of these basic steps are used throughout the songs.

"Progress Tracker" is a much improved section of the game that helps you see the progress you're making and helps keep you motivated to come back over and over. You can view running statistics of time played, accuracy, and calories burned by day, week, or month. You can also collect Xbox achievements for various set goals, as well a define goals for yourself, which you can share with your Xbox Live friends and tackle them as "Community goals". Strangely and disappointingly, it doesn't look like the game is supported by Kinect PlayFit at this time.

Overall, I was extremely impressed by what Majesco did with Zumba Fitness Core. They could have easily phoned it in and basically released the same game as Zumba Fitness Rush and still made boatloads of money. Instead, they effectively moved the platform forward with better graphics, more instructors, more songs, and more features to help incentivize you to come back to the game again and again.

This is my third Zumba game. Having lost over 50 pounds just using Zumba and some dieting tweeks, I'm completely sold on this product as an exercise tool.

What I was not convinced of, was that a cardio tool could really do any core work. Personally I do between 100-300 sit ups a day, depending on what else I'm doing. I honestly didn't think adding "core" to the title would assist with any additional "core" work. I'm happy to say, I was wrong.

I just got this product 2 days ago, so I've only done 3 routines (maybe 56 songs), but I can actually feel the workout in my core. If you're someone who doesn't enjoy floor work in order to get a core workout, this is PERFECT for you. I abhore getting down on the floor, on a mat, on a ball, etc. Gyms are dirty places, floors are dirty places; combine them and you may as well be sitting in a cess pool. So to find a workout where you can get some core work in without having to be on the ground is phenominal. I'm SO impressed.

Will it replace sit ups; probably not. But, can I foresee it doing more than just working cardio--absolutely.

I'm living proof that this franchise does what it says it'll do---it has you working out without realizing you're getting a work out. I finish the workouts drenched in sweat. And now I'm looking forward to finishing drenched in sweat and with tighter abs.

Just tried it the first time. thought I jump in the shallow end of the pool and tried a short session. (MISTAKE) The first jitterbug routine KICKED MY ASS.and subsequent 4 dances were slightly better. It did have a label of High intensity. So I survived the full 20 minute. Felt pretty cool. I think they have some serious Crumping inspired moves. great for the core. So I move to the longer session next, it was 44 minutes. This one is labeled medium intensity. A lot better. It's a whole workout in one. including warm ups and cool down, And it's so diverse! from what I see, (I'm no dance major, so pls forgive me if my terms are incorrect)Boot Camp type martial arts move, Paso Doble, Hip Hop, Rock. aerobics, belly dancing, the aforementioned crumping and some folk dances of various global origins. So I don't think one will be easily bored by this game. I do like this better than Dance Central 2, DC2 does not have the same intensity like this game. This will keep you at high intensity for a longer duration. But one have to get over looking silly. Especially for a guy.

4th session Update.

It's even more surprisingly diverse. I have one song of Ballet, Irish Jig, and some country type square dancing, not to mentioned some good ol fashion Russian Dance. It's a lot of fun. I'm sub 200lb guy trying to lose weight, by a website calculation, I lose around 700 calories per session of medium intensity workout. pretty amazing.

After 3 sessions, it gets easier after. I got some 5 stars songs already.

By the way when you are in full cardio mode, your problem area (fatty area) get real cold to the touch. I found out that this game makes your core workout a lot harder. I don't feel the belly getting cold during Kickboxing sessions, but in here. It was ice cold, so the game makes you dig deeper to get toned. Interesting.

After 9 sessions, I went to the Gym today and I can crunch twice the weight that I can before I started Zumba, I was crunching 80lb comfortably, now I can crunch 160 lb after 9 sessions(30 reps * 3). really works so far.

After 12 sessions, Did a 1 hour long class on high intensity, beat it. and 73% score. Tummy 60-70% gone. Back arch above the small of the back is arched more. Addicted and doing it daily.

Beat the game (all 1 hour long session completed with 5 stars ratings) after 45 days.

5 months update, No longer doing it on the Xbox, I've regularly attending live Zumba classes 2-3 times a week, In the front row, dancing on the stage with the instructor! lost 36 lbs, Fit in a waist size 33 inch jeans, (from waist size 38)Starting to do insanity, and yoga and pilates and biking and swimming...Phew. All because of starting from this one little program.

I received my Zumba core yesterday, The music is better than previous games but many of the dance steps are the same in each song, not much new cretivity in choreography. If you've bought other Zumba Kinect games , you might want to wait because the only difference is the kicking that builds the core. I don"t regret buying it because I was getting bored with the Zumba Rush routines, The kinect seems to be more responsive. Graphics are great. They have calories in the game but you don't add your weight or height so how accurate can it be. The biggest disappointment is you can"t take the dlcs with you from the other game like you can do with Dance Central. A definite buy if you didn't buy Kinect Zumba Rush.

bought this product from a pawn shop in LA. I orginally bought it as a driving glove. it eventually turned into a self pleasure tool. the glitter dots started falling off, and quickly wore a tear into the palm area. I would buy again.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of the best if not the best super hero game ever made so its only logical that developers would attempt to copy it and that is exactly what the devs of Captain America: Super Soldier have done, the question then is did they succeed? Well, yes and no.

Let me start by saying that I am absolutley loving Super Soldier! When it comes to combat the developers have done a fantastic job, anyone that has played Arkham Asylum will feel right at home. Cap controls great, combat is fast and brutal, it uses the exact same counter attacking that was found in AA as well as the slow motion zoom in for that final bone breaking punch or kick. Cap of course does not have all of Batman's gadgets he does have his trusty shield which can be thrown, block enemy bullets right back at them and used to melee the enemy into submisson. It's so satisfing to be surounded by 10 enemies and to effortlessly dispatch them without a scratch on you. Boss fights have been a lot of fun, i'm really enjoying the story which is all contained within one giant compound and the voice acting is solid with Chris Evans and several other actors from the film providing their voices.

Now Super Soldier is a movie tie in which means a shorter development time because they have to have it out in time for the film which is a shame because with a little more time and polish Captain America could have been a truly great game rather than just a really solid one. Obviously it is a little rough around the edges graphics wise. Cap himself looks really good and is really well animated but environments don't fare quite so well, however I don't have as much of a problem with this as others, you actually visit several distinct locations throughout the game, large open courtyards, a prison, hedge maze, Barron Zemo's mansion, underground labs, a sewer system for accessing every area of the game, ect. it isn't just the same looking place over and over again the problem is that they just lack detail. Platforming can be a pain, its pretty much automated by just taping the A button at the right time Cap will fly through the platforming and gain large amounts of focus for pulling off special moves however the problem is that the timing can be really hard to get down, there is no penalty for messing up your timing though, you can't fail, Cap just traverses the invironment a little slower.

With all that said Captain America: Super Soldier is still awesome! There are tons of collectibles to collect my favorite being Zemo's diary entries, lots of off the beaten paths to explore in order to complete side objectives like taking out AA guns and even some challenge rooms to complete. So if you are a Cap fan or an Arkham Asylum fan then Captain America: Super Soldier should make you very happy.

Apparently I'm one of the few people who are actually enjoying this game. While Captain America: Super Soldier falls short of the mark set by Arkham Asylum I don't think it's near as bad as people have been making it out to be. Just because it's not the best doesn't mean it's terrible.

Sure, the environmental details could have been better, but they aren't bad enough to actually ruin your experience...not anywhere close. And as for the fighting, I actually quite enjoy it. The shield adds a welcome change to what I feel was a little monotonous in Arkham Asylum. For my "run & gun" style playing, having a shield to reflect bullets works quite well. My only complaint about the combat would be that it is not as fluid changing between targets during combat.

As for game length, for not being an RPG, it's really about standard length.

Is it the best game out there? No...but it's a lot better than it's being given credit for.

And let's not forget it RELEASED at under $40!!!

I have no idea why some people are complaining so bad. One person marked the game lower because they said it ripped off the fighting style from Arkham Asylum. First off, even if they did--so what. That was an awesome game. That is the way this industry works. If you're going to mark every game down because they rip something off, you may as well stop writing reviews.

The game is a blast. Im about halfway finished and I think it is much better than some of these folks are giving it credit for. The fighting is great, the challenges are fun and frankly I'm glad I bought it. Well worth the 40 bucks, period.

After playing through Sega's Thor movie game, which was on the verge of embarrassingly bad, I had extremely low expectations for this. To my delighted surprise, CA: Super Soldier was actually a very enjoyable play-through. The combat is definitely the highlight here, and very much like Batman: Arkham Asylum--fluid, a big variety of moves and attacks, weighty, and fun to watch. The graphics stand head and shoulders (several times over) above Sega's Thor, and are on par with what's expected in a 2011 release. Sure, there are things that could have been improved (platforming seems undeveloped, and the game isn't incredibly long), but this is a good, solid third-person action/adventure game with a good story (nothing fancy), and a fair amount of replayability with the "challenge" modes. I think this game has been getting a bad rap simply due to the fact that it's a movie game and it was released by Sega--two characteristics that have rarely resulted in anything worth purchasing. While it's not game of the year by any means, if you can pick this up for under $40 like I did, I think it's a good buy, especially for Marvel fans who've been looking for a solo adventure with the good Captain. If a sequel materializes for the same studio, after this solid first go-around, I think they have a chance at developing something that can compete with Rocksteady's Batman franchise.

Didn't even know they made a game for this movie. Saw the movie and thought they should make one. It could make a good game. Turns out, they shouldn't have. I pictured a Captain America game as a cross between Batman (city or asylum) with Assassin's creed (any but the first). There are parts in the game where you get to jump around, but it's extremely linear. The ironic thing is, half the time I don't realize which ledge the intend for me to jump on. I haven't finished the game yet, mostly cause I can't get into it. The voice acting is ok, but the characters don't always move their mouths the way they should. I thought we solved this problem like two years ago? The combat is easy until you need to press a specific button to finish of a 'boss'. they give you only a second or two to do this and usually it's a repeated button press. Sometimes my finger slips and I press the wrong button. I get knocked down, lose hp and the 'boss' regains about 15% back of his. This is what I've found most frustrating. Overall not a great game, but if you buy it for $13 like I did and you like Gamer Score, then maybe it's for you.

When I gave up computer gaming for the cheaper and more simple world of console gaming I had one regretstratgy games. They are my alltime favorite form of video gaming and I knew that they were next to impossiable to find and translate on a console. The last real time stratgy game I remember on a console was a port of Red Alert 2 on the old Playstation. When I heard LOTR Battle for Middle Earth was coming to the 360 I was hopfull but still afraid it wouldn't workbut I was happilly wrong. The controller works GREATnot quite as good as a mouse but it is the next to the best thing. In fact one can argue that the camera control works better witht he 360 than the pc.

All that aside this is also just agreat game. It is very balanced and a lot of fun. The cpu is smart and tough and gives quite a challange to you. But of course the real deal is this game on Xbox live. It is a lot of fun and there is a lot of challange. I cannot reccomend this game enough. I just now pray that the upcoming C&C game will also be on the 360. PLEASE ea make it so.

Another highly anticipated game for me, but yet another game that you feel slightly disappointed with. EA has a bad habit of making games that just do not live up to the hype and this unfortunately is one of them.

The graphics are fairly good until you get a lot of your armies on the screen at the same time. It really gets choppy with the more you have. Many quick graphics pauses. The small map that shows the entire region is almost pointless. As another reviewer said, if you have one army off by itself, good luck seeing the blue dot on that map to find them. I am not color blind and have very good vision and I could not see it most of the time.

The controls to do many things seem cumbersome. I never played this on a PC, but I would bet PC style controls probably would be better versus many menus to traverse.

Game play itself is sort of fun. However, I find some of it almost too easy and brainless. Unfortunately, as long as you are willing to take the time, you could get through many levels by just continously creating armies and attacking until everything is dead. You really do not need to do anything special or use any special magic. The enemy is usually too easy as well. If you retreat and back away, many if not most will not come after you. Again, if you have the time, just do that and keep building armies until everything is dead.

I really think this game is just OK. Not worth the $60 and not as good as it should be on a next generation console. Though that really seems to be the trend so far with most new games.

LOTR 2 for Xbox 360 leaves a person with mixed feelings. It looks good and sounds good. But there are some quintessential problems which might leave a dedicated gamer dissatisfied.

I am heavily in to RTS (Real Time Strategy), Its my favorite genre, followed by RPG (role Playing games), not much in to FPS (First Person Shooters). I remember starting off with the RTS classics, Tiberian sun, Red alert 2, homeworld, etc, moving on to Generals, warcraft 3, etc.

Now those games had character, it made you think, it made you strategize. In a game like Homeworld, you could never win with out capturing enemy ships. In Command and conquer, it was about resource gathering and key defensive placements.

After playing LOTR extensively the last few days, I havent yet figured out what sets it apart. It is too generic. Its just about make a lot of cheap melee units, and send them en masse to rush the enemy positions.

Finer points of a RTS such as defensive placements, resource domination, specialty units, etc are available, but due to the way the game is set up, you cant really utlize them to the full effect.

Lets go in depth shall we?

I was skeptical about game control issues using a XBox 360 controller as opposed to the trusty mouse on a computer. The interface is about 30% as efficient as compared to using a mouse or having short cut keys or the lot as experienced on a computer.

The Minimap (called the "Palantir" is very vague, you can not zoom in and out on the palantir and you can not issue move commands through the palantir. So most of the times, you will see blue colored smudges which indicate your units or red colored smudges which indicate enemy units. Now these smudges are prominent only when you have about 2 or 3 units in an area. So, if you have just one group of (say) elven soldiers, the blue dot representing them might be so small (read invisible) in the palantir, that you will completely miss them. And honestly after about 2 weeks of playing this game, I still cant locate individual squads by means of the palantir.

Combine that irritation with the fact that you scroll through the map with the left stick and zoom in / out or rotate the camera by the right stick and you have massive control issues.

It is a night mare trying to view a particular area where some thing might be happening. For example, you notice flashes on the palantir, and you want to move the view to that region. Since you cant navigate through the palantir or snap the camera to the region of interest, you will have to manually pan the camera to that region. The camera movement co-ordination between the main map and the mini map (palantir) is based on the direction the camera is pointing at. So it is extremely difficult to move the camera, while your gaze is fixed at the palantir.

I used to curse out aloud as my forces were being attacked and I was hopelessly panning the camera right to left or up and down trying to focus on the region of interest.

Now the game creators did try to solve this problem with some rather half hearted attemtps. If you press down on the left stick you will zoom in on your fortress. Given the fact that you will have several fortresses, and this snap on feature only focuses the camera on the fortress that was most recently built, what use is that?

Also there is the feature, that when there is some thing happening and a warning is issued, you can press the "Y" yellow button to snap on to that region.

This is very quirky, it usually directs to some innane area of the map where nothing might be happening.

This game doesnt make sense when it comes to the warnings that keep getting issued. The irritating voice over keeps crying out warnings at the wrong times.

So it is extremely difficult to keep track of the events going on in the different areas of the map.

Micromanaging units is not possible here. First and foremost, selecting a unit is done by moving the cursor over that unit and pressing "A" (green button). If you hold down the left trigger and press and hold "A", you can select all units in the area. Or you can hit "A" twice to select all units in an area which you are viewing.

But the problem is, how do you select a few particular units of, say, one type. I dont want to send archers and swordsmen to the same battle zone. But then individually selecting a group of similar units is very hard. You will have to hold down the "A" button and move the cursor to the units you want to select. Now if you want a group of archers. You select one squad of archers, keep "A" pressed down, and move to where the other squad of archers are. But if by chance you pass over a squad of swordsmen standing in the same area, they too will get selected. After a while, I stopped trying to micromanage.

Can you imagine that, no chance of micromanaging in a RTS!!

The only way to effectively micromanage units in a RTS is by means of shortcuts. This game offers the concept of short cuts, but in a very usuer unfriendly manner.

Shortcuts are not linked to hardware, but by software (on screen menu) You will first need to select all the squads you want in a group, then hold down the right trigger, then scroll to the shortcut tab on the screen, click on the shortcut tab, then scroll through the shortcut signs (why cant they just use numbers?!?!), and then click on that particular shortcut sign to assign or select a particular group with it.

Now you cant add or remove to this shortcut group, and so with the changing dynamics of the battle, you will need to compeltely restart the procedure of assigning groups to shortcuts.

You read the procedure to assigning shortcuts, now imagine doing this rapidly while in a pitched battle as squads die off and new squads are brought in. You are right, you probably wont be using this much. So you will end up sending all melee and ranged units to the same area of battle.

Next problem is with the way units respond to your commands, you can keep issuing orders to a unit, but most of the times it will just ignore you completely. For example, in the final mission of the "good" campaign, I sent a giant eagle to knock down some archery and catapault towers on the walls surrounding the castle. No matter how many times I ordered the eagle to concentrate on a particular target, it kept flying off to attack some thing else and died in the process.

In this game, You could "theoretically" control the units behavior "aggressive" or "hold ground", thats it. You dont have the option of "defensive", meaning you CANNOT use hit and run techniques very effectively. God forbid if the enemy comes close, your troops will engage them, and will not back out, no matter how much your order them to. The artillery units will indiscriminately shell the region where enemy troops are present, even when these enemy troops are fighting your own troops. Guess they are really open to the idea of collateral damage. And given that your troops generally refuse to obey orders, chances are as your artillery units start shelling, you will take just as much loss from it, as your enemy.

Artillery units can be made to be in either of 2 modes : "Halt auto acquire" or "halt auto fire". Which is funny, because conversely, it is always in "auto acquire" or "auto fire" mode, and in either mode, the artillery unit WILL fire automatically when it sees the enemy. And in a battle you WILL take collateral damage.

Resource gathering is done by placing static resource generating units (like a tree for elves, a mine shaft for dwarves, a tunnel for goblins, etc) in various locations of the map. Now you can only place these resource generating units at a fixed distance from each other. If they are too close, then they infringe on the other, and the efficiency of the process is reduced.

So you are required to explore the map and keep placing resource generating units at diffent locations. But this creates an extremely big head ache in terms of defending these important resourcers. Since you can only build defensive structures, like walls, at a fixed distance from a fortress. You will need to keep building fortresses all over the map to defend these resource generating units. Now each fortress is 5000 gold, about 25 times the cost of a standard squad of swordsmen or archers (this gives you an idea of how expensive it is), so you will not be able to build too many of these fortresses. So your resource generating units might be left undefended, and thus your revenues will run even lesser than before. Of course you can dynamically defend these resource generating units by moving soldiers to the resource generating units if under attack. But then with the whole concept of rush tactics and massed troops squaring off in pitched battles, you wont have squads available for guard duty of resourcers.

Another surprising problem in this game is the save game feature. You can only save a set number of games.

This is the single greatest flaw in this game.

So if there are 16 battles (8 each) for the good and evil campaigns, you might be allowed to save a total of about 10 games. So effectively, you wont be able to go back and play a certain scenario after finishing both the campaigns. I dont understand why those stupid developers had to limit the number of saved games a person can have!

The way this game works is also surprising. For example, when my elven and dwarven armies stormed the black castle in the final mission of the good campaign. I was met with a "Balrog" that pretty much decimated 3 of my squads and killed a hero. And then started coming towards my buildings. I dispatched a Giant Eagle, and it just killed that balrog within a second. Now this verisame eagle is not very effective against other units of the same kind. It can get killed pretty easily by say 3 groups of enemy archers. This is very confusing. You might build up defenses or an attack force by estimating the relative strengths and weakness of your forces and that of your opponents. But then the units might react in a way completely unforseen, and this might turn the tide of battle.

One more problem here is, you are limited to the number of units you can build. But then you might receive reinforcements, which might be of no use but which might push you over the limit. You cant kill or retire certain units like ents or giants or ships. So you might end up keeping those useless units, while retiring useful units to get units that you desperately need.

E.g.: when facing melee battles, you might end up having to decomission swordsmen, which you do need, to get some specialty melee units, like Mirkwood archers, which have greater damage potential. And at this time,you might have 4 ships lying at anchor doing nothing and no way of retirng them.

Another problem with this game are the walls. Firstly they are SUPER expensive and not too strong. If a certain section of a wall breaks, you cannot rebuild it. And depending upon your race (elven / dwarven/ human, etc) you might be able to repair it. And there are these big wall hubs that you need to build, which in turn expand to form walls. Now the sections of the walls can be modified to hold catapaults or archery towers or wall hubs. If a certain section of the wall is under attack, you cannot ask your builder to repair it. You will have to sitback and watch it get demolished. Then after the assault is over, you will need to destroy the rest of the wall yourself, to get to the "wall hub" and then have a fresh new wall built. Now this new wall cannot be built in the same spot as the old wall, so you will have a mess of overlapping walls all over the area in a region of heavy conflict.

Also you cannot have your structures repaired by the builder, you might have a spell to do it (again race dependent). But since you are limited to the number of spells you can have, you will find you will go for spells which are more useful than "struture repair", some thing that kills the enemy.

Lastly, there is very limited strategy employed in this game. Like when playing the skirmish mode, against brutal enemies, you will find that the enemy has NO limits on the amount of money and the number of troops he has, where as you are limited. The only way you can win is by building large numbers of soldiers. Your cash flow is limited, and if you were to spend money on upgrades (like better armor or weapons and which are extremely expensive), you wont have money to built more troops for the meat grinder. And you will loose the battle.

This game is dismal as compared to the real RTS gems, it hardly has any element of strategy.

It does try to innovate in some new areas, like you have a points system, you earn points by killing enemies, and if you have enough points you can "buy" spells. But then if you have a lot of points, you can pretty much buy all the spells. Then you can let your armies rest, and fight the enemy by spells. Heck, I have done this so many times.

For an RTS, this game limits you from having the units you want to field, it doesnt allow you micromanage them, it doesnt allow you to deploy them or view their actions, or in any way control them or let them be effective. You can only build up massive armies and send them to die, and keep doing so to merely survive against the enemy. So the spells are the only way you might actually establish an edge over the enemy.

Its dismal really. Imagine, playing red alert 2 with just nuclear strike (or weapons of mass destruction, like the weather machine) and having quite ineffective tanks or armies! Imagine no apocalypse tanks! Just masses of conscripts!

The spells go on to allow you to deploy a hero (like Tom bombadill) or soldiers (3 squads of Dale men archers or a group of eagles, etc). I guess the developers of this game themselves realised the futility of having armies being strategically commanded in this game, and have pretty much tried to replace the strategic element of a conventional RTS gaming with the concept of spell casting.

It is disgusting!

Overall the game does look good, however, you cant zoom in too close. The sounds / music are nothing to die for. The voice overs are EXTREMELY irritating. The elves sound like goody two shoes whom you will feel like punching on the nose.

While supposed to be such tough warriors, these elves certainly sound like wusses.

Its an irritating game. And with just 16 single player missions, The skirmishes are extremely boring. So for $60, it is not enough value for money.

It is a very sad attempt at introudcing RTS genre to the TV console game sector.

Would I recommend buying it? Only after the price falls to under $20!

Let me start by saying im a huge rts fan, if only i could have all those hours back, never learn i guess. Ok down to business, when i fired up LOTRBFME 2 i immediately went online and played a couple matches ranked and unranked. I prefer to play unranked cause you get a lot more variety of players and not just the ones who are in it for the rankings. The ranked part is only beneficial for those who want to keep track of all their stats like how many wins and losses and how many kills etc. I meen if leaderboards are your thing more power to you. The fact that you can talk smack while your ents are pummeling someones fortress is great adding some deinate competition factor i ad hours of fun playing online alone. The ea server worked very well the games were never had too much lag or any boots. Sometimes when both sides would have massive amounts of units onscreen there would be a hardly noticeable lag. There still is a good amount of strategy though most players do a building rush along with the typical build more units than the other and keep attacking strategy. The fact that walls are expensive and deiffucult to rebuild and are somewhat weak kind of makes it hard for the defensive player who likes to build a nice base and wear down the enemy. But the game still has a lot to offer as far as variety is concerned there are alot of races with different strengths and weaknesses so learning the goods and bads of each while developing a strategy to exploit the strenghts of your race adds replay value. There are a few hangups managing units is difficult youll find yourself ordering your entire army just to kill a single enemy squad, very hard grouping of units makes it very difficult. also the map is pretty useless other than to give you an overview of the land and you cant make it larger to order units to specific parts and such. Also the resource gathering is a pain forcing you to spread out to get maximum efficiency from them. Hopefully they can somehow fix some of the more frustrating problems with an update from xbox live. Bottom line if you have xbox live, or youre a lotr fan then this is a definate buy,if not then you might want to wait for the price to drop.

So its not worth buying Battle for Middle Earth 2 anymore.

The online Service for Battle for Middle Earth games (BFME 1, 2 and Rise of the Witchking) has been terminated on December 31th, 2010.

The game itself is good, its just that you get no real worth out of your money anymore, since the CD-key is not needed to play online anymore.

There are no goodies inside the box, its just the DVD and a small installation handbook inside.
