I have this unit and I like it. It holds my guitar, 3 controllers, my chat pad, all my games and my console. I have my wireless headset on the very top shelf so everything is in the same spot. It sits out next to the big screen in my living room so it looks neat and tidy when we have visitors. Yes, it is enclosed on the 2 sides, top and bottom but the back is out and thats where the fans are that bring air in to cool it. I have also purchased an intercooler for mine. Their are other reasons for the red rings as well not just over heating. Mine got the red rings with E74 error which is major hardware failure that Microsoft is aware of and repaired for no charge although my warranty had expired. My sons got the red rings and his console was sitting out and not enclosed in anything. I like this product. Well constructed, quality material. It's not shakey or top heavy. I recommend!

This shelf looks very nice, and can help organize your games and accessories, but placing your 360 console in this shelf is a VERY bad idea. The Xbox 360 has a tendency to over-heat, causing the infamous "red-ring of death" effectively destroying the console. It is advised that you always keep your 360 well ventilated in an open area to decrease the risk of overheating. In this shelf, the 360 is blocked on almost all sides greatly increasing the risk of overheat. I can't recommend this.

As an arcade release, I was never interested in this game. Fighting games are not my forte. Once I saw that it was a full disc release, the collector in me wanted to add this to my wall. I am not a fan of fighting games because I suck at memorizing fight patterns, move lists, and combos. That said, this game is a fun addition to my collection. The graphics and physics are solid. Although I only knew how to play one type of solitaire I bought this GB game assuming that I'd just play that one type. Boy, I was wrong.

There are 4 styles of solitaire to choose from! The instructions read like a medical text, but using the "hint" option and a little practice I've learned to play Klondike, Calculation, Elevens, and Monte Carlo. What fun!

There are also options to play BlackJack and Cribbage, but I'm too addicted to solitaire to give those games a try. I guess that means I'll have two games waiting when I get sick of solitaire (like that's possible!).

Be warned, though, the music is AWFUL. Luckily there is an option to turn the music OFF.

If you are skeptical about buying this package deal, have no worries! My wife and I weren't sure if the pad itself would work as much as the other pads we have had (the plug-and-play brands). But we were wrong. These are the things that we love about the pad:

1. It's size gives a perfect and comfortable dance experience

2. The arrows are big enough so you don't miss them

3. When you dance on the pad, it does what it supposed to do...without any glitches.

4. On the bottom of the pad, it has a slip-resistant materialso when you dance, it doesn't slip!

5. On top of the pad, the arrows and menu buttons have a more rubber slip-resistant material; so when you are dancing hard-core, you're not slipping.

As for the games, both have great graphics. One of the things that we like about them is that they have different modes of play (approximately 4-5 on each game). Another plus is the Workout modeyou can choose what kind of workout you want, the pace, and such.

Besides the games, the songs are awesome! Between the two games, you have approximately over 120 songs...which is a PLUS!

Note: Some of the things that we didn't like were some of the songs...there were some punk-rock/gothic music (which we just muted the sound). Also, there was a picture of a gothic face in the background. Last but least, there is movement in the background...which sometimes makes it hard to stay focused on the arrows (for me, it wasn't a problem...but it was for my wife). So, in other words, each person as a like and dislike.

Overall, if you want a great deal for the dance pad + entertainment, this is what I recommend for such a great package with an awesome price!

Penny Arcade Episode 1 Reviews

I waited for a long time to get PAE1 discounted in the Deal of the Week program (It went for 50% off) on Xbox Live because 1600 points or $20 seemed like WAY to much to me for an Xbox Live Arcade game. I'm glad I did because I would have been pretty angry if I paid full price. If you are a veteran RPG player you will rip through this game in a few hours or so. Maybe it'll take you a bit longer if you're going for the achievements.

Pros:

Limited character creation, but your character looks great & is in every cut scene just how you made it. Has a very cool stylized look to it.

Fun & fast combat system once you learn how to block.

There are a lot of little details everywhere. Click and explore everything.

Easy 200 Achievement points for a veteran RPG player.

Cons:

Overpriced & much shorter than I expected. Beat everything in one play through and has ZERO replayability. Literally, it warns you before you beat the last boss that once you win it's over.

Before you learn how to time your blocks properly you will die, alot.

Lame story with a cliffhanger leading you to buy PAE2.

Not as funny as I thought it would be and is NOT for a child it has mature content & very strong language.

Overall, I enjoyed it while it lasted, but I'd say I was disappointed with PAE1 because it was so short and wouldn't recommend paying full price for it.

This is one of the most expensive games on Xbox Live, but it's worth the money. It's honestly better than some games that come on disk for $60. You don't need to be a Penny Arcade fan to enjoy the game, but if you are, the jokes will make you laugh out loud. The combat is fun. Make sure to learn the blocking!

People always complain about the price, as do I , so this review will pretend the game was free so the score will be unbiased.

Not for children. Thats my first advice because this game is full of F-bombs and sexual inuendo (and blood of course). I loved this game though, and thought it was very well written and made me laugh out loud a few times. The story content is interesting and humorous. The visuals are great and you easily get sucked into this game.

The gameplay was also great. It is a fairly fast paced RPG game in which you have to be always choosing options (attack/item etc.) and do it fairly quickly. The game is not hard, but it takes a little getting used to if you've never played a RPG before. You may die once or twice, but you pick up on it pretty quick. The only minor downside to the gameplay is the "explore" aspect. I say this because sometimes it is hard to "inspect" items as you can walk past them just ever so slightly and then you can't inspect them. You have to kind of circle your character around a bit until he is looking exactly at what you want, and it's easy to miss things this way. That part of the game made it a little tedious when trying to collect all the items, but not too much.

The achievements were also fun, especially the hardest one (I'll let you figure it out). It took me about 4 tries to get it and was fast paced action all the way with a lot of strategy. This game was a little shorter than I would have liked, but after playing through the game twice to get 100% of the achievements, I felt satisfied. I look forward to Episode 2 once I get some points.

And now that I bought and installed a 250Gb, and it still will not work. Original xbox my rear! Since I bought an xbox 360, the 360 would infer it encompasses all xbox games!!! Too bad...so weak.

I LOVE THIS GAME.

It isn't perfect; the story is largely the typical throwaway reason to fight a bazillion demons and monsters...regardless of what other reviews say. However, the gameplay is stylish, unique and deeper than the first few hours suggest.

Chaos Legion was marketed by Capcom as a cousin of Devil May Cry. While the tone and subject of the game suggest similarity, however, the gameplay is a totally different beast. In fact, the comparison probably hurt the game, because reviewers went in expecting a DMC clone rather than being open to letting the game's unique strengths take hold.

Some reviewers have argued that the game is repetitive. This is true only A) at the beginning before the importance and depth of the legions is revealed and B) on easy difficulty. If this game is to be enjoyed, it if for those people looking for a challenge. In that way, it is similar to Devil May Cry. This isn't a game to run through in 8 hours...that might be less than enthralling. The real joy in this game is that of discovery and accomplishment. In fact, the game is so difficult that it has a system much like DMC3 where experience from ATTEMPTS at beating missions can be kept to level up legions.

Your character plays a bit like Dante with maybe slightly less moves. However, depending on the legion he has equipped, he can perform different moves and gain different abilities.

And then there are the legions. The legions are spirits that the main character summons to fight at his side; each one has very unique strengths and weaknesses. Combined with the abilities they add to the main character, which legions are equipped at the beginning of a mission makes a big difference.

The controls for the legions are surprisingly deep...they are by no means simply autonomous once summoned. It takes several hours to understand half of the strategy behind using them and most of the game to master it. Combine this with the ever present challenge of staying alive and you have a very compelling action game. Luckily, the game also features a relatively forgiving checkpoint system.

Of special note are the boss battles, which are very fun to figure out. When you bring down these bad boys, you know you've accomplished something.

In addition, the graphics and character animations are very well done...especially for the main character.

Finally, and importantly, a very impressive soundtrack accompanies the gameplay. Most of it is a mix of techno and chanting/choral work. All in all, it does a SURPRISINGLY good job of elevating the combat and making you and your legions feel like a force to be reckoned with. The soundtrack is so good in fact, that I OFTEN listen to it by itself...probably more than any other soundtrack I own.

I didn't expect much going in to Chaos Legion. The reviews had been mediocre and most people said it was repetitive. And these complaints underline an important point: Chaos Legion isn't for the casual gamer....it's for those in search of a challenge. That said, Chaos Legion is the source of some of my most memorable gaming moments in the past year, and I play a lot of games. For those with the appropriate skill, Chaos Legion is a must play and an absolute steal at most game stores.

I read lots of bad reviews of this game and was all set to forget about it rather than buy it. Then one day I read a Penny Arcade comic in which they declared that Gabe hated Chaos Legion. Well, if there's one thing I've learned from my years of reading PA, it's that if Gabe hates something, it's probably pretty good. He hated Kingdom Hearts, GunValkyrie, and most notably, Halo. The man is obviously not a bastion of good video game taste. Therefore, when he hates something, I assume it's worth buying. And so I went ahead and bought Chaos Legion.

At first I was inclined to agree with the reviews (and even with Gabe.) My first couple of hours playing seemed to indicate a shallow and repetitive game. What I'd seen in previews looked similar to Devil May Cry, so I was expecting an adventure game with some exploration and puzzle solving. There is none of that. CL is actually something of an old school arcade style beat-'em-up updated for the 21st century. You make your way through a linear level from point A to point B, fighting wave after wave of enemies as you go. When you reach the end of the level, you fight a boss. Lather, rinse, repeat. However, the game became pretty difficult suddenly on stage 3 or 4, and I almost threw in the towel. For some reason, rather than quit I instead decided to dig into the aspect of the game that I hadn't really been paying attention to; namely the "Legions" themselves. These legions are what make this game shine. A legion is a unit made up of several allies that accompany you wherever you go, basically little guys that follow you around and help you in various ways. Each one has their own strengths and weaknesses and abilities. Some use swords, some fire energy bolts at the enemy you're targeting, some create a defensive shield around you, some explode and damage all enemies within a certain radius, etc. You have to use them to strengthen them, you have to strengthen them to make them more useful, and you WILL need to use them to beat the game. The more they do battle, the more experience points they earn. You then get to choose how to spend those points to build them up. You can increase their attack power, their defense, their special abilities, etc. Learning how to use them effectively is the key to the game. Ergo, the reason the game had seemed so difficult at first was that I'd made the mistake of playing it as if it was a DMC game, rather than figure out how to play a different game called Chaos Legion. Poor Gabe must not have been able to figure that out.

Man,than this will blow you away!!I can't believe how amazing this game is.First of all,let me stress how beautiful the graphics are.When I first started playing this game,my jaw dropped because the graphics looked as fluid and life-like as they do when then cinema plays.Also prepare to be amazed the first time you summon.Wow!Way to go Capcom!

Second,and most importantly,the gameplay!There is a good reason that the name of this game is Chaos LEGION;you fight armies and armies of demons.Think just like the Dynasty Warriors games,only take away the asian feel and add a very gothic touch!When I first started playing this game,I wasn't really paying much attention to the storyline or the directions that tutor you on how to do certain moves.I was just having SO much fun chopping up hordes of enemies!Later on I learned how to do diffrent moves and command my summon spirits to perform certain commands.Just Excellent! Experience gaining system is similar to DMC,but with much more improvement. Basically you still collect the souls of your enemies(only ALOT more at once)and for every 100th demon you kill you get an item.So you can really stock up on items and bulk up experience in this game as the enemies can be limitless(granted that you don't kill the monster generators first!)I guess Capcom borrowed an element from Gauntlet.

Third,is the sound.Voice Acting is great and even better than DMC.Also the lip synching is better matched to the words to make it look like they are actualy speaking the dialouge.But more importantly is the soundtrack.Beautifuly orchestrated music

with a passionate rhythm.Reminds me of the soundtrack for Castlevanaia:Symphony of The Night....only better.I was really impressed by the music that plays during boss fights.

Lastly,the storyline is as you would expect it to be:dark and masterfully written.I'm not going to go into detail;you'll just have to experience it yourself.To quoate a caption on the back of the game case,"If you loved Devil May Cry,then you'll love Chaos Legion!"They aren't kidding!This game delivers everything you could want and then some.Buy a copy now!

This has got to be one of the worse games for mixed reviews. Some love this game, some despise it. Now what's our thoughts on this gothic, hack and slash? Well, I can say for myself, that I love ever bit of this game. Before you hit me with something, let me explain why this game is so awesome.

The story is mysterious, enthralling, deep, and it keeps you wanting more. That is, after the first couple of levels it gets interesting. The first three levels you will find boring, but don't stop playing, because trust me, it will get better.

The story goes like this: You play as Seig Warheit, who must fight against a past friend of his. The reason being? It's unknown until you delve deeper in the game and unlock the peices of the story. But I will tell you this, it involves the killing of a beautiful woman named Siela.

The graphics are simply stunning. Screenshots cannot capture the beauty this game holds. The graphics are bright, gritty, vivid, and smooth all that the same time. The characters, legions, and enemies are all awesomely designed. The main character, Sieg, he is designed perfectly, his clothing and hair just screams "Bad Boy". The design and graphics team have certianly outdone themselves.

The sound was great, the clashing of swords on the armored hide of the enemies was music to my ears. The screams of the enemy creatures was great as well, whatever a 4 foot spider would sound like dying is probably what the spiders in Chaos Legion would sound like dying. The only gripe I have is when you first start a level, Seig, takes his sword and taps it on his shoulder... But it sounds like he is taking a wooden stick and slapping it on a towel...

The music was perfect, it totally fit the mood of the fights and the tear jerking movies. The only thing I disliked about the music is that in some parts it was low, like I couldn't hear it over me beating my enemies to ground beef. That's not neccessarily a bad thing though.

In Chaos Legion, you use allies to fight along side of you. These allies are called "Legions," the legions are powerful creatures. They each have there strongpoints and their weakpoints. So when you first equip a legion, try equiping one that will work best for the mission. This aspect mixes the generic hack and slash genre to a RPG-type action game, making it much more appealing and far less repetive.

After completeing a mission and defeating numerous enemies, you gain experience points. With these experience points you can upgrade your legions in many, many aspects. For instance you can upgrade their strength, defense, or you can upgrade them to where more legions can come out and help you.

The gameplay seems shallow at first, but once you get passed the first three levels, it becomes addictive. The thing that makes it unappealing to most is the steep difficulty level. But when you pass those three levels, you gain enough experience to upgrade your legions too make them stronger. Once upgraded, it makes the game much more enjoyable.

This game is the perfect game for an action addict, like myself. I totally enjoyed it to the last minute. I enjoyed it so much, that I cannot wait for the next installment to the series. I reccoment this to anyone who is looking for a challenge and a new adventure. If you are still skeptical about buying Chaos Legion, atleast rent it to see if you like it.

I have noticed that the other reviews so far don't say much about the game, so I am going to try to give a better idea of what this game is like. This game was made by one of the head guys behind Devil May Cry. That alone should pique most players interests. This game is the absolute best action, "hack and slash" game I have ever played. I have played through both of the Devil May Crys and the Onimushas, and I think this one is better than any of the other two combined. First of all, the action is great. Each level is challenging enough to give a gamer a couple of run throughs to beat it, but it isn't hard enough to be frustrating, and if it is for you, you can always cut it down to Easy difficulty level. Sieg and the Chaos Legion summoning system works well together. Before each level, you can equip two legions (whichever two you think will be needed in the level, whichever two you like best, or whichever two give your favorite power-ups to Sieg), and during the level you can summon the legions to fight alongside you, or send them in for a quick special attack. This allows two styles of fighting; a grand melee style, or a more conventional hero with special powers style. The grand melee can be maintained as long as the Legion's health meter is up. This meter is filled from the souls of your vanquished monster enemies. Each legion can give Sieg special powers too. For instance, the Flawed legion can give the special powers of jumping higher and double jump. These special abilities can be unlocked by leveling up the legion. Yes, that's right, during intermission screens (in-between levels) you can level up the legions that were equipped using the experience they gained from fighting through the level. Also, there are experience gems that can be used on any legion to give them experience. Later on in the game, there are items that allow you to level up your legions to the point that you may use their special abilities even when they aren't equipped; thus, this allows you to use the other legions while still keeping your favorite abilities. Finally, I must talk about the story. The storyline of this game is very good (the best I have seen in an action game), and it isn't exactly what it may seem. The cut sequences are the best I have seen in visual style. They look like a really well done movie. One of the best touches is that flashbacks are done in a "grainy film" way. It makes the cut sequences even more beautiful and the game even more enjoyable. I hope that some of you out there will buy this game and enjoy it as much as I have.

My 10 y/o son LOVES this game! I am usually pretty careful about how much and which video games I let him play (this is the only "T" rated game he has, and he only has 1 E-10 game, everything else he has is "E" rated). The action/violence level is relatively tame -all cartoon characters battling eachother, no blood, no visible injuries, the character who loses the battle kind of flies out of the scene. The battling itself isn't very graphic, with highly fictionalized "weapons." That said, my son and his friends love the game, lots of interesting "level-ups" and plot twists, plus fun characters you'll recognize from elsewhere.

I wasn't much of a console gamer for a long time after the N64, but one game that stood out on it was Super Smash Bros. Fast forward to 2008 and I broke down and got a Wii for the party-gaming potential. I have not been disappointed. Yesterday, this game arrived.

Oh boy. This is a heck of a lot of fun. The number of things to do is incredible. You can even practice your character's moves against your choice of inert or active opponents. Nintendo seems to have intended this game to be epic as they not only include an in-game retrospective of the entire line of Nintendo gaming products going back all the way to the NES, they include time-limited trial versions of the classic games.

Wifi works wonderfully. Online matches are frantic and fun.

One odd thing is that the wireless pointer feature of your wii controller is completely inert once you load the game. This is one area where they shouldn't have stuck to their rootsit feels silly to move a token with the analog joystick when I could theoretically just point at the character I want to use. But you get used to it.

If you have a kid, he will spend months getting all the unlocks (there are lots). If you have a kid inside you, you will rediscover some console joy.

The maps are pretty amusing/crazy. They touch on many themes/ideas from previous Nintendo works. Put it this way: There is a Pictochat map. The terrain is drawn as you play... Many maps have destructible terrain or areas you cannot jump up through, which adds a strategic element.

The characters are varied and seem very well-balanced against each other. (Aside: I love how the announcer says "KING DEDEDE" so seriously.)

If you are completely new to the game, you still have a pretty good shot at winning by button-mashing, which I consider a good feature. If you have mastered the combos and moves however, you still have the advantage.

I haven't played the adventure mode much but it is also fun.

You pretty much have to buy this game if you own a Wii. This is as much a Wii-defining game as Super Mario Galaxy or Wii Sports is.

Best Deals for Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Even though I was Nintendo label die-hard and fan of their coin-op franchise from the beginning, Super Smash Bros or brawl titles in general haven't interested me too much.

So the most anticipated title of 2008 wasn't guaranteed to strike my electric fancy. But, when you add WI-FI play for free online brawling and custom controls in order to configure anything from the Wii controllers to the old school (4 variations on play) you've got me curious. Add to that the longest list of cross-title cross-era characters ever produced (Thirtysomethings: remember "Battle of the Network Stars" ). Characters from `87s' Kid Icarus (Pit) and Metal Gear's Snake, Pikachu and various Pokemon. Loads of Mario characters including the man himself: Diddy and Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong dating from Mario's 1981 coin-op premiere of the title of the same name), Wario, Yoshi, Princess Peach, Bowser, and more. Other melee cameos include the Ice Climbers, Metroids' Zero Suit Samus, Kirby, King Dedede and his Meta Knight, Sonic, LINK & Zelda (from '86 and on), Star Fox, Lucas & friends from Mother 3... and lots of other unlockables. Some noteable, but Non-playable, assist trophies include Devil from Devil World, Star Fox's Andross, Mr. Resetti from Animal Crossing, Little Mac from Tyson's Punch-Out and even Excitebike ('85) is on the scene. What is particularly cool about these appearances is the consistency of style for each character regardless of genre or era of the characters. Nintendo has outdone itself on graphics on this one, even when they are "dumbing" down the graphics for cross-game effect. The sound effects are true to this as well, with as many retro SFXs as cool new ones.

Options for play include Solo vs. PC, Multiplayer play vs. 3 friends or on-line options. Other options include the Classic game (you beat `em you advance) or a storyplay campaign which is surprisingly worthwhile. The variety of Brawl locations and is amazingly broad as are the detailing of each location gimmicks. From Yoshi's Island to a stadium to the exterior of a StarFox ship sailing the stratosphere, this alone will extend the life of BRAWL's replay longevity. Characters move satisfyingly fluid, and their variety per character is exciting.

The Mini-games are fun and nice samplings of other titles, both new and old. If fact, many of these made me ready to seek out some games I hadn't looked at before. If anything BRAWL is a great sampler title.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is going to be top of the "4 player fighting" genre for some time to come, I think. Well worth the release push-back.

We can play for hours doing different things different ways. My kids are 7,7,8,16,16,20 and we never get bored of playing this game. There are plenty of options for playing teams, opposition, or single player. The configurations and characters are almost endless. The review title says it all. I wish they could just figure out how to make it a motion sensitive game; When you jump it jumps; when you swing, it swings.

During the past year, Nintendo really showed what it takes with the success of the Wii. Dominant games like The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess and the definitive Super Mario Galaxy, really proved the Wii with its ultimate gameplay. Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Nintendo Wii, is one of the most anticipated games to be released this year, and it absolutely dominates the competition. The gameplay is very addictive as you play with all your favorite classics characters like Mario, the adorable Yoshi, Link, the fierce Bowser and many others. There are also a lot of new characters here to unlock too like Sonic The Hedgehog, Wario, King Dedede from Kirby's Dream Land, Diddy Kong and Olimar from the overlooked Pikmin series. There are also secondary characters which have been added as well, that come and assist you to the depth of the gameplay like the Nintendogs, which block the screen so you can't see where your opponents are during the game, and Andross from the Star Fox series. The graphics look great, and appeal to each and every level you can challenge on from the abstractism of Warioware, to the madness of racing along the Mario Raceway from Mario Kart. Each level is packed with excitement for gamers of all ages.

The control is also new to some gamers, and traditional for veterans too, as you can manuver your favorite characters 4 different ways: the Wii Remote alone, the Wii and Nunchuck controller, the Wii's classic controller and even the Nintendo Gamecube controller. The Wii controller and nunchuck take awhile to get used to, but the classic and Gamecube controllers work very well, making it simple and addictive gameplay. On top of that, you also can now challenge against others not just in the living room, but you can now also play against other Brawlers online through Nintendo's Wi-Fi connection, which makes the gameplay even more addictive for anyone who wants to brawl farther than they've ever done before.

All in all, Super Smash Brothers Brawl is a must buy for anyone who owns the Nintendo Wii. It is just great from start to finish and brings in every depth of excitment and gameplay for a super smash for anyone who has the need to smash the competition. It is definitely a great game all around and a great addition to your Wii video game library.

This headset has several great characteristics:

One, this headset has a very long chord between the headset and the Xbox. I connected the headset to one of the two usb ports (located in the FRONT of the Xbox BEHIND the flap at the bottom).

Secondly, the RCA connectors (Red and White) were both input and output. I could have this headset and my speaker system working at the same time, or I could just use this headset alone. I could not directly plug in the headset into my Xbox controller, but by plugging the headset into the the in-line audio controller, the in-line audio controller can then plug into the Xbox controller. The headset comes with a detailed setup guide with multiple options for plugging in the headset with how your sound system is setup.

Thirdly, it fits very comfortably. It covers my ears, and the microphone can be moved to any distance or angle within a couple inches.

Fourthly, I was able to lower and raise the volume of my teammate's voice during matches (as well as lower and raise the volume of the match itself).

Fifthly, the microphone was sensitive and flexible. When I placed it too close, it picked up my light breathing. It is very flexible; when placed at a comfortable angle, it works great.

Lastly, it looks, feels, and weighs like a great durable headset should.

I highly recommend this headset. Highly. Recommend.

This is an updated review, not that anyone will read it as this was a special edition item that I doubt is being made anymore. While this unit worked, it was great and I wasn't disappointed as my first review stated. This item ended up having a very short lifespan for me. On my first headset, the talk feature crapped out where I could hear everything just fine, but my microphone would not work. Fortunately it was under warranty and so I sent it back and received a new one. Well this new one, while lasting longer than the first, had the same talk issue eventually. Since the headset was no longer under warranty, I guess I am stuck with a product that only half works.

I thought I was upgrading my Turtle Beach x11s (which were still going strong after almost two years and I sold unfortunately) to a very cool Halo 4 headset. Big mistake. I will not be purchasing any more Tritton or Mad Catz products nor would I recommend them after this.

If you want this thing working on your computer you will need a 3.5mm male to male cable along with an RCA to 3.5mm cable. I picked up this headset when I got my Halo 4 xbox because the mic on my Turtle Beach headset had gone out, and I figured it couldn't hurt to have MORE halo swag. My initial impression of the headset was very good good sound, strong bass (though the Turtle Beach has better), and a very clear chat functionality (BETTER than Turtle Beach's) but my joy quickly turned to ash. The speakers on the set are just too small, so the pads sit directly on my ears; I can't play for more than an hour without becoming incredibly distracted by the discomfort my ears were going through. It's entirely possible that I just have larger ears than most (I'm a pretty big guy all around), but this is a problem I've never had with any other headset model I've used. So, all in all, good headset if you only play video games for short periods at a time. *nods*

Generally speaking I have enjoyed the headphones, they are very well cushioned and are very sturdy. However there are two things with the headphones that I have a slight issue with. The first issue is that when you have the headset connected with a controller that is using a charging cable, a buzzing noise can be heard. Furthermore the headphones are just slightly too small for my ears which can be a pain when trying to get them to fit just right on my head. Beyond that for the money that are a decent pair of headphones but if you have slightly bigger ears, like me, you might want to avoid them.

If you're one of a handful of people who own an x-box but no DVD player this remote is, literally, essential to playing DVDs.

The x-box system is expensive for microsoft, and they don't make much profit off the systems. In order to play DVDs, companies have to pay a licensing fee to the motion picture of america association. Rather than include the costs of the license in the x-box system, they force you to purchase the DVD remote in order to play DVDs.

All this explains why even though your x-box has all the hardware necessary to play DVDs without a remote you have to buy a remote in order to actually watch DVDs.

My remote works well enough. Its batteries have lasted quite a while, and most DVDs play pretty well. It would be nice though if the remote had a power button.

Most standard DVD players work at least as well or better than your x-box, so I wouldn't recommend this item unless you don't already have a DVD player.

When I first heard of this DVD Playback Kit, I was a little mad that Xbox didn't already have a DVD feature built in. I like it though, I don't watch a whole lot of DVDs. I use it for something else. You can use it in the main menu of the Xbox. You can use it as a remote to play songs you already have burnt onto your Xbox. I use my Xbox to play music while I'm on my computer because my computer is too slow to play music and do anything else. You can use it to play DVDs or as a remote to your MP3s.

This product was thrilling at first turn my Xbox into a cheap and reliable DVD palyer? Great! IT worked okay for a few months but now, 5 months later it does not recognize hardly any DVDs. It jsut says "this is not an Xbox game or recognizable DVD please try again...." Do not waste your money buy a real DVD player instead. You can get a decent one for under $40 almost anywhere. Even when the DVD unit did work, it doesn't even have a power button or an eject button. Microsoft has over promised and under delivered.

PS2 could include DVD playback without any additional hardware (by using a normal game controller), so where's the sense in Microsoft abstracting DVD playback off of it's already bulkier system? The answer is "more money."

Ideally the IR module should have been built in to the Xbox to begin with. I would gladly have payed an extra $10 then, instead of what MS is asking for now, which is roughly $30 at most retail stores. Simply ridiculous.

The gadget _does_ do what it is supposed to do (the only worthwhile thing to be said) but altogether is somewhat discouraging for reasons already addressed.

The design of the controller is bulky as well--not sleek like PS2's _optional_ DVD remote control. I have said it so many times that I am getting sick of it: The only failure of the Xbox system eminates from it's choice to require you to buy the ability to playback DVDs.

Since, however, there is no choice in the matter I suppose all of us capitalist sheep will flock to the stores and gladly plop down 30 smack-a-roos so we can watch our DVDs. We will probably also decide to sell our old DVD player on eBay since they are no longer needed, and also to recoup our losses on the Xbox DVD kit. And I suppose too, that while on eBay we will notice the Xbox DVD playback kit being offered for around $15 instead of $30.

Word to the wise: Go to eBay for this gadget. You will save yourself around 50%.

This is an oldie but goodie that begs for multiple replays as you explore an entire game world with many, many levels and adventuring environments. You are a marine sent to an alien planet after the aliens attack Earth. You are supposed to be part of a platoon or company of marines that are going to attack the enemy Strogg, but the rest of your unit is killed, and you're on your own. You fight your way through the levels and adventuring areas of the game, picking up better gear as you go and laying waste to what I felt was an annoyingly small number of enemy types. The enemy units that are here are interesting, but there aren't enough of them. This is the only ding I have in what is otherwise one hell of a fun game. The weapons are great, even though I wondered where your marine put them all when he wasn't using them, and defeating the different levels was always fun. The game is well thought-out, with each level providing different challenges. There are a number of hidden levels and hidden ammo/weapon caches throughout the game, these were a good time to find and can give you some butt-kicking equipment several levels ahead of where those weapons would normally be available. This game is dated now but still fun to play if you have the equipment, and if you're a young gamer with the right system on your computer, this old game will reward your time and effort with good, clean fun.

Multi-player is a bit lacking but then again their Quake 3 that is better in action and multi-player. But Quake 2 has a very good story and the flys are so much better than Unreal.

They are pretty comfortable, goes over the whole ear on my head and the mic sits at a good angle. I like some of the features of this mic such as:

+ Mic folds up and stays away from your mouth when not engaged in voice chat.

+ Controls on the cord are intuitive and easy to use.

+ Good sound

Cons:

Wearing these for an extended time does get a bit uncomfortable. For short stints its fine.

So I'm writing this review with about a week and a half of use, so this is more of a first impressions than anything. I've went through an alright number of headphones and decided to try a pair of these as it's the first time Logitech released a "gaming" headset at this price.

My regular setup is either an AKG K240 or Audio-Technica AD700 hooked up to a Creative X-Fi HD paired with a Blue Snowball, but the G230 isn't a bad purchase for someone looking for a less complicated setup, and can be driven by pretty much anything. Being a pair of stereo headsets, you're not going to get the surround sound functionality; if you still want it there's the G430 or the G35 from logitech as well as headsets from other manufacturers, or you'll be using some sort of sound card to do it for you (though simulated surround sound's effectively differ from person to person). The headset looks like a toned-down version of the G35 without the buttons on the side, opting to just go for regular in-line controls. Construction seems pretty average, with the headset giving off the feeling of almost snapping if you bend it too much (though that's the case with a lot of other stuff), and the hinges that the cups swivel on feels a bit cheap; overall, a relatively decent piece of kit that sits pretty light on your head. The headset sits pretty snug on my head (though it might be a little tight for some), and the pads are relatively cool (though my ears did get a little hot after a while, I live in Florida, after all) but stiff and slightly itchy after wearing them for long periods of time. On the plus side, you can take the padding out so you can clean them occasionally, as well as potentially replacing them with different pads altogether, which you may want to do if you find them uncomfortable.

On the topic of sound, the mic picks up my voice very clearly while talking at regular volume and posed no problems over Skype or Vent calls and all my friends heard my fine. The hearing end of the headset is pretty solid as well as vocals are easily distinguishable during calls. As for sound quality,the headset is pretty balanced and lends itself well to equalization. When listening to my music collection, I can't help but notice the bass has got a little bit of "oomph" compared to the rest of the frequencies and--though it doesn't overpower the mids nor highs--, it's definitely got a bit of an edge when listening to most tracks. Of course, that isn't say that the mids and highs are bad, far from it; instrumental music comes out very clearly with good instrument separation and (from what I can tell) pretty decent soundstage, and just generally very pleasant to listen to. In-game, I played some Battlefield 3 with the X-Fi HD processing simulated surround sound and it fares quite well. However, I must note that I occasionally hear popping during my listening sessions with this headset; whether I just got a defective unit, I don't know, but it's something to consider.

In summary, this is a very good sounding headset for the price, with the main thing I can fault it with is the popping issue and the hinges for the cups feeling slightly loose seeing as how easily they rotate. If that's not a deal-breaker for you, then this is a fine addition to your setup. I would rate it 3.5 stars if I could, as the popping is definitely not something I desire, but I suppose 4 is rather fine, too.

May 2013: Sent my headsets back and the second pair doesn't have any popping, so it was just a bad unit, I suppose.

No need to install software and driver programs, which is nice when you want to start using your headset immediately. I found the headset to be very comfortable, which is a major factor I look for when choosing my "permanent" headset. After all, what good is a headset if you don't like to wear it! The sound quality was above average and I was very happy with it. The only con that I could find with this headset is the fact that you have to be very close to the mic for my team to hear me clearly. Although this isn't a really big deal, because you can just position the mic closer to your mouth and the problem is solved; that's why I didn't give it 4 stars. I don't feel that this is a huge design flaw, as the mic does work, it's just not super sensitive.
