Although I only knew how to play one type of solitaire I bought this GB game assuming that I'd just play that one type. Boy, I was wrong.

There are 4 styles of solitaire to choose from! The instructions read like a medical text, but using the "hint" option and a little practice I've learned to play Klondike, Calculation, Elevens, and Monte Carlo. What fun!

There are also options to play BlackJack and Cribbage, but I'm too addicted to solitaire to give those games a try. I guess that means I'll have two games waiting when I get sick of solitaire (like that's possible!).

Be warned, though, the music is AWFUL. Luckily there is an option to turn the music OFF.

Enjoy and happy gaming!

I am a sucker for special edition game gear and and I am particuarly impressed by this controller because it actually looks better in person. I have the Gears of War 3 controllers as well but I prefer the Modern Warfare controller for two reasons. The thumb sticks are smooth whereas the standard controller thumb sticks have four small and rather uneccessary bumps. The other reason being that the surface of the controller feels slightly textured in comparrisson to the glossy Gears of War controllers which can get a bit slick during gameplay. If in need of a new controller, I'd definatly recommend this over the standard or GoW versions.

My parents play MW3. They are both around 50 years old. Dad is good, Mom is... I don't see how that's relevant. BACK OFF MY MOM! For a long time, part of her handicap on the game was using Dad's hand-me-down controllers that he would replace as the joysticks started to wear out. As my mother sits in the corner with an LMG doing the "spray and pray" routine, this was enough for a while. She was playing with the boys, and she was happy. As her skill started to improve, she decided she wanted a controller that was brand new, just for her, and off limits to the vices that my father passes off as hands. Because she wanted to keep it to herself it had to look distinctive, and since this was around Christmas I passed on having to come up with an original idea and got her the MW3 controller and matching headset. It's an Xbox 360 controller made by Microsoft, and it functions just like every other one on the planet. The heads of the joysticks are shaped a little different and the d-pad is the new adjustable type but as far as the mechanics of it goes there is nothing new here.

But it is SO PRETTY! Don't let the picture fool you into thinking that the skin job is "just awesome." This thing is gorgeous. If I were single and this controller were a woman I would repeatedly take it out to eat fancy seafood in public places where I could watch men and women drool alike over the awesomeness across the table from me. This controller is that pretty. The underside is black, the graphics are just on the top, and that really doesn't matter; as my mom sits in her living room redefining "low man on the totem pole," she is doing so with the sweetest looking controller made for any system I have ever seen.

Best Deals for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Limited Edition Wireless Controller

This controller is similar to the silver one with the play and charge kit & "transforming" D-pad it has the grippy circles on the ends of the thumb sticks rather than the old 4 dot design, which I've found easier to play shooters with sensitivity set higher on.

Unlike the silver controller the back is a very textured matte black and the MW3 design on the top isn't slick like the tops of all of the other limited edition controllers. It's actually quite a bit easier to hold on to than any of the other 360 controllers I've tried since release day and includes the switchable d-pad. I purchased it since my silver one's right trigger stopped working every time I pulled it and find it to be ideal after playing Skyrim, MW3 & a bit of Battlefield 3 with it throughout the day, due to it being a lot less slippery.

I imagine this one would be good for people who's hands sweat when they play, though I can't say for certain as mine don't it just seems to me that a less slippery controller would be better in that situation.

I bought this controller for my loving GAMER husband for X-mas. It's built to last it's been a year & some change & it's still ticking, he loves the fingure grips for the L/R stick & the D-pad, I love the design. If your Husband/Wife is a Call of Duty fan it's a must have for his/her collection!!!

I was looking for something to give my XBox more stability in the upright position. This is a pretty good item but maybe a little overpriced. Cost me just under $30 to get it, seems more like a $20 item. Could have gotten the blue at that price point but the color did not appeal to me. So lets get started.

ArrivalWhen I get the item it is in a very impressive, heavily constructed box. The packaging on this item has got to be a significant part of the price. The pieces are wrapped in plastic wrap which has left kind of a mottling on the pieces. I was able to get that off by wiping it w/ windex but I did not attain the kind of sheen seen in the promo pics. Probably need some kind of polish to get that. There are 4 main pieces, the base, left and right sides, and the controller holder. You don't have to install the controller holder if you don't want to. Good thing since I didn't want to, I thought as much looking at the product pics but if anyone else is wondering the same thing, there's your answer. If you want to lay your xbox flat the controller holder is the right height and on the right side for you to be able to do that. Unfortunately the base is all one piece construction so you will have two of those legs sticking up in the air.

AssemblyPretty easy. My only problem has to do with the screws. If you look closely at the promo pics you will see a silver bar across the top, that is a threaded aluminum tube, there is a matching one on the back. You put the two clamshell pieces around your xbox hold the metal bar in place and hand screw plastic screws into each side. Did I say plastic? Yes I did. Additionally the manufacturing quality on the aluminum tubes isn't the highest. One side of one of the tubes was determined to crossthread, after 6 or so tries with all the different screws I let it have its way and forced the plastic screw in.

Final ThoughtsMy XBox is very stable now. Since the case ends up recessing the touch buttons a little I can actually look at my XBox without the disc ejecting. It does not seem to interfere with any of the ports on the XBox. While the individual pieces are made from pressed plastic they seem to be well made with no detectable burrs or scratches. Unless I was lucky their QC is pretty good.(They probably outsource those aluminum tubes)

This thing is awesome, keeps my Xbox noticeably cooler. The stand lifts it slightly off the ground helping to increase airflow. And it looks super cool

This is a great addition to your Xbox 360 if you keep your console standing. It provides great support and also adds a noticeable increase in air flow to help with cooling. The packaging is awesome and each piece is well protected. I purchased the black version, but the other color options are really cool for fitting your console to your gaming style. As I add more consoles to my home I will be casing them with the Vault.

This is a reasonably price, easy to assemble, and stable stand for your Xbox. I no longer worry about the console tipping over when in its upright position, and the extra lift off the surface increases ventilation.

This worked as I was expecting, configuration is a pain but if you've configured your own wireless router manually then it shouldn't be an issue. When I had a wireless G router, I noticed some lag on X-Box live, but I've since upgraded to a good wireless N router. Now I can play Halo Reach Matchmaking and not have lag significantly affect gameplay!

Unlike what many reviewers said, it is not that tough to set up.

Basically, you plug it to your PC/MAC, change your PC/MAC ip adress to 10.10.10.3, and then log on to 10.10.10.254.

Enter the username/passwd as admin/admin, set everything up, and connect it to the Xbox/PS3. It's that easy !

I haven't tried it with a game yet, but I did the Xbox update via Xbox Live and it worked fine.

Plus, I got it for $26 on eBay, which is far from the $80 you spend for the Microsoft product.

Peace :p

I purchased one of these network adapters for my nephew, hoping to save $50 by skipping the Microsoft brand wireless N adapter, and I regretted it the moment I started trying to install it for him. The installation is ridiculously convoluted, and I'd consider myself an expert with computers and networking. The software included with it is poorly coded and barely works, and it turns out the adapter won't work with dsl or fios at all. I ended up taking a quick drive to a Gamestop and getting the Microsoft branded N product, which took all of five minutes to set up.

Before returning this product, I decided to give it a shot with my Comcast Extreme 50 home connection. Once I managed to get the thing working it couldn't handle the speed of my connection and throttled it down to 15mbit.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this thing at all costs, if you need a wireless adapter and can't afford the Microsoft wireless N, buy one of the older Microsoft wireless G adapters you'll get the same speed due to the throttling on the madcatz product and you'll avoid a massive headache when trying to install the little nightmare.

Modsticks Pro Xbox 360 Controller Analog Sticks (Green) Reviews

Modsticks Pro Xbox 360 Controller Analog Sticks
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I just received my ModSticks Pro's and Fusion grips.

#1. My first impression was disappointing. First, the packaging is nothing like what you see on the website. These are just in heat sealed bags and not the cutout foam you see on the website. That diminished the first impression...ultimately not a huge deal since it would all end up in the trash anyway.

#2 I ordered the green but these are nowhere near the green you see on the web. They are considerable less vivid a green than I expected. I wrestled back and forth between green and blue and now regret not getting blue because this green is pretty dull.

#2.1 The green on the "Fusion grips" are a different green from the whole kit. They are actually closer perhaps to the green I was expecting. Perhaps as I have seen mentioned in another review "the fusion grips" should be the standard ones, not sure yet...gotta get some game time on them and I will update this opinion after some use...

#2.2 The spacers are NOT GREEN. They are silver, blue and black. Fail. They should match. No reason not to for a product at this price point.

#2.3 Given the apparent inconsistency in their anodizing process you might just order black or silver.

#3 Everyone that has said so far to watch the video are for the most part right on. The included "directions" if you can call them that, are just an exploded view of the controller. I follow these kinds of instructions pretty well but in this case I had already watched the video while waiting on them to arrive so that influenced may have my opinion of the included literature.

#3.1 They included several optional length set screws, three of each. It seems like that's not necessary. Perhaps it was to give you height options on the D-pad joystick but I don't know why you would need/want that since the concept as a whole is brand new to us all. The fault in the design here is that the threading goes all the way through the D-pad and if any part of the set screw goes thru then you cannot screw the D-pad down properly. Later, the only thing stopping the screw will be the plastic piece of the original D-pad that you keep with the ModSticks...could be a problem later if that screw digs into the plastic below. If you bottom the medium length set screw into the joystick is protrudes through the D-pad. The shortest set is the only one that does not protrude but it also does not bottom in the joystick. Minor fail on the design here.

#3.2 The directions do not say, well, anything but the video said to thread the set screws into the parts that are internal to the controller shell first. I suggest it might be better to bottom them into to the grip instead. I think that you might tighten them in the grip tighter with the wrench to have the connection to the controller be the finger tight part to avoid getting the wrong end stuck in the future. It would also I think be better for the set screws to have the hex on both ends in the event that later when/if changing the grips the set screw stays un-hexed side out making it difficult to extract. Perhaps have the threaded hole go all the way through the grips...that may be the easiest thing to fix and prevent stuck set screws...could make the set screws actual torx screws instead. In fact replace the Philips screws on the D-pad with torx as well and you are down to a one tool install rather than the three we have now. That will make the spiffy tool included seem more useful since you pay for it, need it or not.

#3.3 That tool. Nice and all but some of us have one already. Even if we don't, if we are doing more than one controller we don't need but one tool yet we have to buy it for each set...presumably an additional $9.99 (what it sells for alone) per extra set that we don't need. Don't include it and knock down the cost of these by that amount. Winning idea there if I do say so myself...and I did!

#4 I must say that even though the color is terrible the look pretty sharp. They feel smooth and fit is good. The D-pad has a tiny amount of wiggle that I didn't feel on the plastic one but that could be skewed by the joystick and also is probably not an issue anyway. I think the included grips feel pretty nice...need to get them warmed up with an hour or two of thumb sweat to see if they get slick but I suspect they will be better than stock in any event. We will see.

#5 I will report back with playability impressions after I put a few hours on them...for now I have to give them 3.5 stars based on what I have listed so far...

I was amazed how adjustable Modsticks Pro are. I tried FPS Freeks sticks but i could never get the feel i was looking for they are too tall. The Modsticks Pro come with all the tools spacers and screws to adjust the height of the analog sticks just how i like them, with no spacers they are a little lower than normal and they can go higher than FPS freeks. The higher you set them the more accuracy you get moving the sticks. I also added the modstick fusion grips to my xbox controller. They are super comfortable even though they are aluminum. The Modsticks are narrower coming out of the controller this lets them mover further. Set your controllers sensitivity to max then move the stick over and you will go even faster than your supposed to. It took about 10 min to install them it is worth watching the install videos on youtube. They are not cheap but totally worth it if you are really into xbox 360 gaming.

This is a fun game as far as a pure snowboarding, single-player experience is concerned, but unfortunately there are a number of things that are lacking in this title that leave the game falling short of my expectations. If you have an affinity for the previous SSX releases you may be disapppointed as a lot of what made the previous releases great is absent here. Also, if you are looking for a solid multiplayer experience you may want to look elsewhere.

EA has taken a more serious approach to this game. Originally the game was going to be called SSX Deadly Decents, and after negative consumer feedback with regards to the new serious direction taken in the revamped IP they decided to remove Deadly Decents from the title and just call it SSX. However, it doesn't appear that they made any attempt to alter the original game they programmed based on this consumer feedback. It is a shame because I feel like EA completely ignored the feedback from their fan base and said we are giving you the game we made whether you like it or not. So the game ends up feeling less like an SSX game and more like a survival snowboarding game. That aside, if you are new to the franchise you may not have the nostalgia associated with previous iterations of the game and find the snowboarding gameplay fun in its own right. They have tried to add a little bit of a story to the game through some comic book pages in between mountains, but it is superficial at best.

The basic premise of the game is that you are traveling around the globe to recruit members to your SSX team. Each member is specialized to handle one of the unique challenges each of the 9 mountain ranges presents. Each mountain range starts with you competing in a few race and tricky events and finishes with you taking on a deadly descent. You can think of each mountain range having one peak that is a boss battle the deadly descent survival final stage. So for one mountain range the deadly descent may be darkness, another avalanches, etc., with specialized gear being required to handle each unique challenge presented. These mountain boss battles or survival runs include whiteouts (use special goggles for terrain mapping), darkness (headlamp), drop offs (requires a wingsuit to glide over crevices), ice (ice picks to improve turning ability), extreme cold (solar panel for heat), thin air (oxygen tank), rocks (armor), avalanches, and trees.

Some of the game highlights and drawbacks are outlined below:

PROS:

-The controls are tight making it easy to carve up the mountain and perform stunts.

-Athough pretty limited, the soundtrack is decent. I do wish there was a little more variety provided in the music included.

-The landscapes are large and beautiful with some pretty long runs down the mountain.

-There are a number of game modes (racing, trick events, survival events) and a larger number of locations/trails to decend than I expected.

-The ability to purchase a number of upgrades to each snowboarder is a plus.

-Several welcome nuances have been added to the gameplay on the various mountains that require specialized gear to survive descents like headlamps, wing suits, armor, ice picks, and solar panels. These subtle changes to gameplay help keep the game interesting.

-A GEOTAG system has been added that basically allows you and other players to hide markers on the various slopes. The player who dropped the GEOTAG collects money at a certain rate until the marker is discovered and other players that find the marker get money for locating the marker. It can be fun trying to find the perfect spot to hide a marker and trying to figure out how to reach those hard to reach GEOTAGS you see glimmering in the distance.

-I do think the survival aspects added to the game are a welcome addition, but I wish more emphasis was placed on the SSX brand and less on the deadly descent aspects.

CONS:

-The over the top personalities of the characters developed in earlier iterations of this game are non-existent so you really don't develop an attachment to any of the characters. Also, even though you can change the color of of your character's snowsuit, there doesn't appear to be any unique alternative character models like in previous SSX games. The base character models have changed for some of the characters making them not really feel like the same character you use to know.

-The lack of real live head to head competition really hurts the game. Beating the ghost of a friend just isn't the same as racing or tricking right next to them. Although the GEOTAG system is a fun little add-on, multiplayer feels very underdeveloped and tacked on.

-Although there are unique aspects to the mountains in terms of terrain (ice versus rock versus forrest), the differences are subtle. There was a real distinction in various locations in the previous SSX games that is lacking here.

In the past few days a problem has risen in my ability to connect to Ridernet ( the online aspect of the game). This is an issue other gamers are also having. While it isn't affecting every user, it is affecting both 360 and PS3 versions of the game. I have contacted EA about the problem, but they have yet to get back to me. Given this latest turn of events I cannot recommend that anyone buy this game until the issue is resolved. Also, given the lackluster multiplayer I would also wait until the price drops before picking this title up. I was enjoying the game for what it was worth up to the point where my technical issue developed but I admit that I am left partially disappointed by the neutering of the personality associated with SSX tricky.

What a let down. A return to form? I think not... SSX 3 and SSX Tricky were two great snowboarding games for many reasons. The customization allowed you to give your character a little style. The music was fun and upbeat. The courses were optimized for gameplay and were lit up like an amusement park. There were all sorts of shortcuts to find and little surprises along the way that kept the game interesting. No two runs were the same. The game had a "flow" to it that felt great once you got into a cool trick string. Grab some friends, because there was co-op, and not just online play either... SSX has none of these things. NONE of them.

Gone is the co-op. If you want to "compete" against friends, they need their own copy of the game, game console, and internet connection. There's no racing each other, just the illusion of co-op, and definitely none of the shared couch kind which is what makes these competitive games so much fun. Customization? You can buy different boards, which are not all that different really. Forget about cutesy backpacks and other cool accessories. The suits are all the same patterns too, although you can buy color swap versions, and some that have a slight glow effect.... big deal.

The courses are patterned after various scans of real mountains around the world. This adds realism but takes away the fun. There's plenty of places where you can literally just fall to your dooming death, and sometimes are forced into it if you don't have prior knowledge of a run. There is a rewind option but it's useless as it only rewinds you (everyone else keeps going forward, making you hopelessly behind in a race) or else detracts from your score (which is harmful when you are tricking). Courses designed to be FUN (such as SSX Tricky or SSX 3) would have been welcome... they could have done a few of those and given both the ho-hum drab realism and the flashy joyful runs, but they didn't. The neon lights and extravagance of past games helped brighten up the monotony of snow, trees and rocks, which is all SSX has in abundance.

The game also never settles into that comfortable flow. The courses are too broken up and uneven to get that feeling, with jumps coming too close together or too far apart. Not to mention the giant chasms you can trick yourself right down into. There are a few secret little hideaways but nothing as we have seen in the past. The trick runs also seem to be way harder in comparision to races on the same mountain, making the difficulty curve spike and plummet insanely.

SSX is a decently built title... you can tell a lot of time went into it, and some thought was put in to figure out how to update this to modern consoles. However, the formula didn't really need updating, and that's the biggest mistake they made. Trading realism for fun, has made this a boring, monotonous disappointment. Which should not have been a surprise considering the past two installments SSX On Tour and SSX Blur neither which managed to get the franchise "feel" right. They were misteps, and this is yet another one. Definitely try before you buy.

Best Deals for SSX - Xbox 360

(NOTE: I'm actually giving this game 4.5 out of 5 stars, not just 4)

PLUS:

-RiderNet is a godsend, even if it has already been done before

-Great soundtrack as usual

-Spectacular tricks and combo based gameplay

-Control schemes are well implemented, even offering a "classic" control scheme

MINUS:

-The spirit of the characters seems to have been lost from previous installments

-Campaign mode isn't really engaging

-Some mountains are a little TOO treacherous resulting in what feels like repeated cheap deaths

If you generally get a kick out of targeting your buddies best scores in any leaderboard based games or you lose sleep when someone has knocked you off of your high score perch and taking them down becomes the order of the day, then you will absolutely adore SSX.

The RiderNet setup is the absolute draw here, make no bones about it. I cannot praise this new feature enough. I've never played "Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit" but it's my understanding that the Autolog setup in that game works just like the RiderNet system does in SSX, by providing you with real time updates on who's doing what in the SSX world. In short, RiderNet makes this game feel alive. I guarantee that SSX will help create plenty of intense rivalries for those who immerse themselves deep enough in the game, thanks to RiderNet's absolutely awesome interface. I'm aware that I'm gushing maybe a little too rabidly about it but believe me, the recently released demo barely skims the surface of what RiderNet entails. There are a lot of races and trick runs to get to the top of here and RiderNet does a phenomenal job of keeping you up to speed in regards to not only how you're holding up but also how your friends are faring on those very same courses. I found it very easy to plot what it was that I wanted to involve myself in and which course records to shoot for next. Ghosts are automatically uploaded and downloaded and while there's no real time multiplayer involved, you're still getting the best of the experience by racing directly against the ghosts of other players doing their best runs. I'm loving what I'm seeing here in terms of early community interaction and judging from the scores and times already posted, it looks like I've got my work cut out for me on my way to the top of the boards. I really want to see more involved leaderboard systems like this in other games and genres, it's absolutely great and the best thing about the game, hands down.

I love the soundtrack and while it's a bit different from what I was expecting, there are a lot of great songs here that I'm sure anyone will enjoy. I found myself using Shazam a couple of times when I missed the artist and track title info, so that should count for something regarding the quality of the song selection. You can listen to your own music as well and the best part about that is that the game messes with the audio of the tracks just like it does with the in-game music, providing a seamless listening experience similar to what the game already gives you.

Using the right analog stick to perform tricks takes some getting used to and I'm not going to lie when I say that it's a lot to take in. The trick lies in getting used to the rhythm of the game. The game practically uses several different control schemes depending on whether you're on the ice or in the air and when you're careening down a mountain side and you're in the thick of a crazed trick busting, combo racking run, don't be surprised if you can't mentally process what your hands are doing of their own accord. I'm not knocking this because ever since the first game, this has been par for the course. It's all part of what makes SSX what it is. Like I mentioned above, you can play with a "classic" control scheme but I like the revamped style enough to stick with it.

On the negative side, I really didn't care for the campaign or story mode, if you even want to call it that. It's an admittedly thin plot that uses varying styles to push the story forward. I loved how the characters were bigger than life in the previous games but here, they've basically been whittled down to selectable characters. Most of them are still here but I miss the outrageousness and trash talk from SSX 3 and SSX Tricky. They've lost their mojo but they still bust out some of the most insane snowboarding tricks you'll ever see, so it's not so painful of a loss. Another slight issue I had with the game was that on several of these mountains, I was dying simply way too much. This was never really an issue in the other games but here, it happens a little more frequently than I would've liked and it kind of stops the momentum of the game every time you go flying off of a mountain and have to start all over. I found the Deadly Descent runs great on some sides and uninteresting on others.

I think the wingsuit feature leaves a bit to be desired also but hey, you can't fault the developers for trying something new. Thankfully, you don't use it all that much. Same goes for the rewind feature, which is really only useful for placing `geotags' throughout the world. The geotags themselves are a great and really cool idea (think of them as easter eggs that you leave behind for anyone else to pick up and the longer it takes for anyone to find them, the more in-game currency you receive; it's another great form of trash talking that the game provides) but since the clock keeps running while you're rewinding, there's really no use for it if you're on a serious run.

Is this the game SSX fans have been waiting for, for so long? Well, I suspect a lot of fans are going to have gripes with a lot of what I've mentioned and more but you can color this fan impressed. It's not perfect and could use a little more tinkering but this will definitely be my go-to game for when I'm not in the mood to sink a whole day into Skyrim or something else equally as time consuming. Truth be told, the hours melted away on me yesterday when I was posting up as many trick runs as I could before I went to sleep. Regardless of what you may think of the campaign mode, RiderNet will keep you coming back for more and is in my opinion, worth the cost of admission to the mountains of SSX alone.

Honest reviews on SSX - Xbox 360

I'm not going to give this the full blown soup to nuts review, but lets start with some shopping advice

1. Rent don't own

2. Its colorful and a few of the runs are quite fun (e.g. wing suit), but much of it is played 'in the dark' with no clue regarding the 'line'. Do you ski in the dark often? No. Why. Because its deadly. Maybe when I complete them all, I can play the different runs with a wing suit or a flash light and my review will improve

3. Does anyone at EA Sports actually talk to gamers ABOUT WHAT THEY'VE LIKED IN THE PAST, WANT TO SEE

4. Seriously, they could just remake 'Tricky' for the 360 and I'd buy it, probably like it more

5. I like the concept, six peaks, deadly challenges, and I like the mix of tricks and races, but the game has to many easy ways to die that the rider is simply 'forced' into

6. What made tricky great was (1) the ability to knock opposing riders down, (2) the ability to race someone else in the same room, (3) the happy music when you kicked into tricky mode, and (4) the interesting and often unexpected short-cuts, tunnels, suprizes.

This game has a few of these items but its not all that special.

Rent it for a weekend

The latest edition of SSX comes at a great time. The XBox 360 really hasn't had a good snowboarding title since it's inception.

The maps are fantastic, and are actually created based off of real runs. EA used NASA satellite images and digitally recreated them for this game. To the actual mountainscapes, EA added tons of unique jumps, drops, rails, and a myriad of other objects as you try to rack up the combo points or race to the bottom. The tricks are over the top ridiculous, which to me, is what makes this game so incredibly fun. Make no mistake, if you're looking for a realistic snowboarding experience, you're not going to find it here. Heck, if you screw up landing a jump, you can rewind the game in real time to perform the jump and/or landing the way you intended.

The multiplayer is unique from most games, in that you can buy into events that you can win by playing and finishing the event within a set amount of time. This means you're not going to compete with them in real time. You can also have soft competitions with your XBox Live friends whom also have SSX. If you put down 11,000,000 points on a run, your friend will have the opportunity to best that score. This can go on back and forth. For long term appeal, this will be a great incentive to keep playing for some gamers.

The story line is pretty thin and the character development so far has been rather weak. I didn't buy this game for a story line, so for me it takes nothing away from the experience, even in the main campaign. Speaking of which, you'll need to finish the World Tour before you can move on to the Global Events, which offer up 153 courses on release day.

Upgrades for your snowboarder are abundant and varied. You can continue to make your character even better and construct their load out to your unique style of play, be it speed or tricks, for example.

Another cool feature is Geo Tagging. You can drop Geo Tags for other players across the SSX world to try and obtain. The longer they go unclaimed, the better for you in terms of points earned.

In closing, SSX is an awesome arcade style snowboarding game. I can't really find anything to complain about after the time I've had with it. This is a game that's definitely worthy of your collection if what's been described above is appealing to you.

Look, on the whole privacy thing, unless you watch TV in the nude or something, I don't see what all the paranoia is about (but hey that's just me). Where I found this product to REALLY benefit is if you have a projector unit. The problem I was trying to fix was that I can set the projector to turn off if no activity for 10 min, and I can set the XBOX to turn off after an hour of no activity. This was so I do not wast precious light bulb life for my 100 inch projector TV. HOWEVER.... with the Kinect, if there is any motion in the room (such as rolling over asleep on the couch after a movie ended at 1am, 50 something min into the shutoff timer), the XBOX would register and the one hour shutoff timer would reset. This means that if the XBOX does not turn off, then the projector does not turn off either because it still sees a device active. So, yes I could throw a tissue or paper over the sensor, but that would look like crap. The aesthetically pleasing way was to buy this sensor cover and allow the XBOX to still work Netflix and such by voice commands, BUT not to register motion when it is not in a game that requires it. All in all, that really is the ONLY need for this guy. As a dust cover... me being a computer tech... I don't mean to ruin your dreams but dust WILL find a way.

Everytime I buy electronics such as cameras, cell phones, ipods, etc., I always buy a case or cover to protect them. It makes great sense to protect the Kinect from scratches, and it also provides an extra layer of security for my family. I was surprised that these weren't in the store when I bought my Kinect. Product was just as described. Fits perfect and looks great! Glad I found it online!

Fits nicely and will not scratch Kinect. Gloss black plastic looks good in most entertainment centers.

The best part is no more bright light+camera+laser in my face when I'm watching TV, and no accidental activation of gestures -it's certainly easier for me to just remove/replace the cover, than it would be to navigate through the menus to turn gestures off while watching movies. A flip-up cover might be nice to have, but hey this works just fine.

Okay, okay, okay.

As you might have noticed, there are many people complaining about how it's SUPER hard to get a shot off. First, let me say I was TOTALLY on that bandwagon. I couldn't get a shot off to save my life. I mean in forever. Super frustrating. I must have played this for a couple months off and on trying to figure out how to get shots off on a regular basis.

Initially, I rated this 4 stars instead of 5, because the manual does a poor job with instructions. As you'll read further in the post, you'll see where I mention how to get to the really cool tutorials. Night and day difference.

I'm 41. It's been a long time since I played console video games. So, I thought maybe I just was out of the loop on the whole Wii thing.

Nope! Once you figure out how to shoot, this game totally rocks. Blows away most games I've even played. And what can I say? It's hockey. Oh yeah!

How to figure out how to shoot & score: Okay, here's how you learn to shoot. PRIORITY: The Wii remote MUST be pointed at the screen as if the arrow was on the screen. If you do not get the remote so that the invisible arrow would be on the screen, you will NOT ever get shots off. I say invisible, because when the game is active, there will be NO arrow. Another thing, you MUST be good at holding the Wii remote fairly steady (while pointing it at the screen). For the longest time, I thought it didn't matter where the remote was pointed, as long as you press "B". WRONG!!! It matters. Next, while holding the Wii remote steady, and pointing it at the screen, you press "B" and then you have 2 options. After pressing "B" first you can 1) flick Wii remote quickly to the LEFT. This left motion will give you the quick "wrist shot." The other option, after pressing "B" is to flick quickly RIGHT & IMMEDIATELY LEFT. This will give you a "slap shot."

BTW:

HUGE TIP #1

If you go to

>>"Game Modes"

>> "Practice"

>> "Tutorials"

the game shows you how to to shoot, as well as trick plays, checking, etc

There are "offensive" tutorials

And "defensive" tutorials

Hockey practice! Oh yeah!

HUGE TIP #2

When attacking the goal, many times, a successful goal depends upon pressing "B" and waiting for a split second before you flick the remote. This will cause the goalie to sort of freeze thinking you are shooting, while you are actually trying to time it so the shot goes in the right place.

HUGE TIP #3

Attack the goal, just as they would do in a real game. If you sit around trying to get fancy (thinking too much about the shot) you will be stuck in your frustration (just like in real life). Yup. Very realistic.

After practicing with the tutorials, I've went from sucking on the "Rookie" level to winning on the "Pro" level. In the past, I used to choose the "better" team for myself and the "bad" team for the computer (playing on rookie level) and still lose. I can actually choose a crappy team for myself and a great team for the computer (rookie level) and still win.

Now, I'm playing the "All-Star" level. I win about half the time.

The realism in this game is that, just as in life, you get better when you practice. And this game has PLENTY OF ROOM for practicing and improvement.

Very cool! Have fun with your addiction. But, it's important that you enlist a designated person to make sure you can stop playing.

UPDATE (8-28-12): I just changed my rating from 4-stars to 5-stars. Over the past couple days, I changed the "Difficulty" level from "All-Star" to "Hall-of-Fame." And I managed to win 3 out of 4 games. CRAZY. Albeit, 2 of the games I had to win in shootouts, and in the game I lost, I was BLOWN OUT. Still, there's no way I would've expected ever winning on "Hall-of-Fame" level (I'm using an equal strength team with the computer. This is why I'm increasing the rating to 5 stars. This game is SUPER COOL!

I've played this game for about a week now and I have to say it seriously sucks. It is literally a carbon copy of NHL 2k10, only with different sponsors and the addition of the Winter Classic (don't get excited, you can only play as either Philly or Boston) and 'The Road to the Cup' which is basically a party game where you compete in mini challenges.

I had hoped this game would take advantage of MotionPlus but I can't even use it to play because it seems to make things more complicated. I could never get a shot off, even on a breakaway, no matter how hard I flicked my wrist. I've heard several people (and read some reviews) that suggest buying a clasic controller and see how you like this game after that. But what's the point in using a regular controller if you have a Wii?

The commentary is exactly the same as the last version of this game and so are the introductions of the teams, as well as the weird menu layout.

I haven't played Franchise yet and seen what happens when you win the Cup but I assume that will likely be as big a letdown as 2k10 was (NO fanfare at all, all you got to do was skate the cup and take a team picture).

In the games I've played, I've noticed the goalies move more lifelike than in 2k10 but players on the opposing team seem to score from very far out and from awkward angles.

Overall, there is ver, VERY little new about this game which was very disappointing. Fortunately NHL Slapshot comes out later this month so maybe I won't have to go another full year playing 2k10. On the upside, I now have a chance to chase down some of Gretzky's records on that game in Franchise mode. My advice would be to hold out for Slapshot and pray that EA eventually starts making hockey for Wii because if this is all 2k sports can do, they shouldn't even bother.

Best Deals for NHL 2K11 - Nintendo Wii

First of all, I really love sports video games, and among them, in my opinion, ice hockey is the best, the most fast paced adrenalin rushed sport video game of all.

I tried a few of the NHL franchise games from EA Sports in the past, back from Super NES days to XBOX, PS consoles more recently, but this is my first 2K Sports video game, and since there are no other hockey options for the wii, I decided to try this one, besides I guess I was too impatient to wait for the upcoming EA Sports NHL Slapshot.

That said, this game is definitely a good hockey game but with a few cons, among them:

The motion plus control thing in this game is really bad, specially when shooting, the B button pushing + remote shaking, makes me sick, nearly 70-80% of the shots I try using that combo, are never translated to an actual shot in the game, so I end up with no shot at all, without the puck, and in front of the goalie, it's very frustrating. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or maybe I have to use the remote and nunchuk (R&N) combo as a pair of maracas and play some samba with it!, but at this point I gave up with the motion plus in here and ended up using the plain R&N combo with no motion plus at all. By the way, even though I think I'm a good video game player, and I usually beat most friends and family members I play against, my 8 year old nephew beats me at this game, maybe it's because he shakes the remote wildly indeed like a maraca, and the motion plus finally get its job done.

The user interface is not very efficient, you can get used to it but it's somewhat confusing at first. EA Sports games interfaces are definitely much better designed.

Playing against the computer is not fair at all so most of the times you'll lose, even in rookie difficulty, sometimes the other team scores so easily and you just have to sweat to score a single goal.

I don't know if my memory is betraying me but I think that all the players faces do not merely look the same, they are in fact the same face for everyone!

Finally, there are some moves that are virtually impossible to achieve in the heat of the game, for instance, juggling-the-puck-with-the-stick-in-the-air-and-shoot move, they're hard already to try them in the tutorial, so it's ridiculously difficult to do it during a regular game, so I don't bother even trying.

In conclusion, maybe I should have waited for NHL Slapshot to arrive, though it's fair to say it's not that bad overall, however, I've never considered buying a classic controller (Pro) for the Wii until now, I was doing fine with the usual R&N combo for most games so far, besides, what's the point of using the wii with a classic controller, in that case it's better to get an xbox 360 or PS3 for that matter, but I'm definitely going to try this game with that controller configuration to see how it works, in the meantime, while I wait for the controller to be delivered at my door, I guess I'm gonna keep losing scoring chances a lot from shots that never happened while sweating my way throughout some playoffs campaign.

Honest reviews on NHL 2K11 - Nintendo Wii

I recently got NHL 2k11 and have been playing for about a week. I really don't like it. I used to play 2k8 and enjoyed that very much, even though there were major glitches in some of the menu options such as the playoffs.

I don't have motion plus but from what I gather there isn't much difference between a regular wiimote. Shooting is extremely frustrating. The response is slow and you have to flick the remote upwards and half the time it doesn't shoot when you want it to. Slap shots have a slow reaction too. I seem to remember you could shoot any way you wanted with the 2K8 version. There seems to be no imagination on the computer in terms of shooting the puck. Every time it seems to go straight into the goalies chest. Checking is piss poor as you have to now shake both wii mote and nunchuck for a check.

Winter classic mode is worthless as you can only play as 2 teams. Also, they seem to have gotten rid of the classic teams you could play as from the 2k8 version. HUGE drawback in my mind. Instead they put time in money into other trivial aspects of the game.

Don't waste your money on this!! Stick with older versions if you liked those.

This is the first NHL game I have played for Wii and it is a lot of fun. The action is fast-paced and there is much more action than in a true NHL game. The controls are fairly easy to master and the announcer commentary is entertaining. Still haven't been able to figure out how to switch goalies which would be my only complaint about the game. The graphics are good, the game play is realistic and you have a wonderful variety of teams and uniforms to choose from. We enjoy the game considerably.

I love the Wipeout game show, so when last week's episode promised a Wii edition, my husband and I couldn't wait to get it. After all, what could be better than the combination of Wipeout's challenges and the Wii's physical controls?

Unfortunately, this game uses almost none of the Wii's controls. You press A to jump, B to crouch, and you use the nunchuk joystick to run. When you halfway fall on an obstacle, you can shake the controller to get up faster, and when it's not your turn, you point and aim to shoot balls at the other players. That's the controls. There's no support for the balance board, but I wasn't expecting any based on the box. What I was expecting was some kind of gesture use, such as shaking the controllers to swim or something.

There's two modes of gameplay: show mode and challenge mode. In either mode, you're doing some number of Wipeout challenges, but show mode follows the same structure as the show whereas challenge mode has you singly competing against a clock or goal. Show mode is the only multi-player mode. Each player gets three attempts at each obstacle. Your first successful attempt is your score. If you wipeout, you get another attempt. But here's the crappy part: if you wipeout all three times, it just assigns you a default max value. So, for the big balls, it's pretty likely that everyone will just get the default max value in show mode (though it is possible to beat them). That kind of sucks the fun out of it. It would have been so much better to have you wipeout and then have to do some kind of swimming motion or running motion to get to the end of the obstacle, with the clock running. Also, sometimes you just can't tell what you did wrong. Your character seems to slow down for no reason or jumps go long or short for no reason. Some obstacles seem challenging for the wrong reasons, and others, that are very challenging on the show, are very easy on the game. The sweeper arm is a great example. My husband and I found that we could both jump/crouch for the sweeper arm way too long to be fun. Eventually, one of us just gets bored and jumps off. The scary-go-round is particularly dull, too.

One problem unique to challenge mode is that the game does not make it clear whether you're on track for the goal, and it makes you keep playing even when you have failed. For example, the easy goal on the wipeout zone is 2:15 and less than 3 wipeouts. It does not track your wipeouts on screen at all, so you just have to keep your own count. Your time is somewhat arbitrary, but at least you can see it while you're running the course. But most frustrating is when you've already wiped out 3 times, but the game just has you keep going as if you have some hope of completing it.

Who cares about the score on Wipeout, though, right? The fun is the wipeouts! Well, on this game, when you wipeout, your character just goes kind of ragdoll and flops around, which can be hilarious like the show. The replay graphics are really poor. Sometimes they don't match what you saw on the screen, too, especially if an obstacle in motion is involved. The game has definite clipping issues. Sometimes you go through parts of the obstacles or seem to land okay but then your character wipes out anyways. But, there are some funny wipeouts at least, and you can skip the replays when the wipeouts aren't as funny.

Random thoughts:

* I do appreciate that they have the actual hosts' voices.

* I wish they had enabled you to play with your Miis, though it's possible that's an unlockable feature that we just haven't seen yet.

* We have definitely found ourselves laughing at some of the wipeouts. Seeing Ballsy dance during the "loading" screen was enough to bring a little joy to our hearts.

* So far, Henson doesn't say his famous closing line, so that's a bit of a disappointment.

Overall, this seems like a great weekend rental game. If you can get it cheap or discounted, and you're a fan of the show, it's worth it. I would not pay full price for it, and I would not recommend it for anyone who isn't into the show. It just feels like it could have been so much better with just the tiniest amount of work on gameplay.

Our 5-year old son is OBSESSED with this show, so we promised the game to him when it came out. Happy to report he loves the game as much as the show. Would've liked it if it had somehow incorporated the Wii Balance Board as an optional item, but perhaps that would have increased the price, which WE were quite happy with ($29.95), considering most new Wii games are in the $39-49 price range.

It's nice that you have the option of 'interacting' with the other contestants, or skipping thru their turns entirely to speed things along. Also fun that the Johns and Jill become playable characters as well. Experienced gamers young & old may tire of this game quickly, but it's perfect for casual gaming families like ours, especially those with kids who love this show.

Best Deals for WipeOut: The Game

I am writing this review at the urging of my 9 and 11 year old children who have played this game for three days straight (a rare feat for any game we have bought). I will concede that has been 95 degrees for 12 days straight here and playing outside has been a little more daunting but they absolutely love this game. The graphics actually seem pretty good. The commentary is definitely not as witty as the TV show but as uncomfortable as it always has been to hear my kids cackling about the "big balls" segment the game pushes the envelope with the "dirty balls" challenge. I try and keep focused on how much laughter the game is providing with them. Also the cutaways to the announcers are terrible in that the voice sync is not even close, not sure why they wasted the space trying.

After the second and third day they have started moving up in difficulty level but they are still trying to unlock the extra characters and features and they have convinced their mother to join in and her laughter is as much or more than theirs. For the price this game has been a winner in this household as most games do not make it past the first day. It should be quite entertaining for the next get together with friends too.

Only down side is for me has been that whistling in the background music that gets old for me (the tune gets stuck in your head for hours) especially when they have been playing for a couple of hours straight.

As to the one star review, we have not had any freezes but I have a noticed a problem with some graphics when players are knocked off in the water scenes. We had not played our Wii in a few weeks and this game did install an update upon start-up. The first try was unsuccessful and we had to restart the Wii but I attribute that to both kids were pressing buttons during that process and once we ran it for the second time, everything has been fine.

I bought this game the day it came out. Being a huge Matrix fan, and an avid gamer, I thought that I would enjoy the game immensely (I'm also a huge fan of Shiny Entertainment I loved Earthworm Jim and Wild 9's). Sadly, while the game IS fun, I wish they had delayed it to make it perfect. As it is now, it's only slightly above average.

As you undoubtedly know from every other review, the game shows the events of Matrix: Reloaded through the eyes of two characters: Niobe (Jada Pinkett-Smith) and Ghost (Anthony Wong). You see things from different perspectives, and see how storylines from the movies are tied into each other (Also, it ties the Animatrix storyline "Final Flight of the Osiris" into the movie, which I thought pretty cool). The game contains tons of FMV that you can't get anywhere else, so Matrix fans pretty much don't have an excuse to not get this game. For the rest of you, I'd read the rest of this before you make your purchase.

The game has many good things going for it, but Shiny always has some huge "but" to destroy any good notions you had. The character models are gorgeous, but the textures boring and the levels sometimes downright ugly. The fighting engine is magnificent, but the enemy AI either stupid or bug ridden (ie, SWAT members walking into walls, facing away from you while you pulverize their pals, etc.). The levels inventive and huge, but save points pop up too often, and many of the sections between saves consist of (not exagerrating at all) running literally 20 feet, seeing an in-game cutscene, running 10 feet, seeing an FMV, then save point. That's it. That's not fair to the gamer. I like to earn my saves if it's going to be a "save point" system. Plus, sometimes the levels consist of "run here, kill the guards, and enter the door." It could've been so much better, had just a little bit more time been put into it.

Also, the game has some of the worst driving levels I've ever seen. You can only be one character or the other, so you either drive (Niobe) or shoot at people chasing you (Ghost). And, no matter who you are, your buddy is a moron. You actually have to hold down a button to get Ghost to shoot at cops, or the twins, when you're Niobe, and you have to pray the AI Niobe doesn't run into every single obstacle in your path when you play as Ghost. I think they were decent, but it could've been much better... and God, the city streets are ugly as hell. Midnight Club 2 and Grand Theft Auto have shown that the city can have personality. The driving graphics are inexcusable.

However bad that sounds, the main component of the game is the third-person (think Splinter Cell) type adventure, and it's actually done quite well. However, the whole time I was playing this, I couldn't help but think, "Why couldn't they let the camera be controlled by the gamer? Why do they wish to punish us?" Splinter Cell's control scheme could've been used, and it wouldn't have affected anything (they barely use the right analog stick at all), and it would've basically eliminated all of those nasty camera issues that this game has. Nothing is worse than fighting 6 guys, then having the camera swing 180 degrees around, then trying to figure out which way you were headed. This should have been addressed early in the stages of the game design. It's almost as bad as Nintendo not having any different control schemes for Metroid:Prime. Talk about aggravation.

Also, I won't discuss the "pseudo-flying" level which finishes the game, because it is the worst level I've ever had the displeasure of playing. The Squiddys are so poorly shown, it looks like cheap "green-screen" effects from the early 80's.

All in all, this game disappointed me. I love the Matrix, and I liked the Matrix: Reloaded. I like Shiny Entertainment, and I think that this could've been one of the greatest gaming achievements in recent history. I wish that Shiny had held back the game until Revolutions comes out, and ironed out all the bugs, changed the ... control scheme, fixed some textures, and thought out the obvious stupid stuff this game seems to fixate on (constantly reincarnating enemies in a closed Post Office, etc.) and this could've been the greatest game of 2003.

I'm still upset.

For anyone who doesn't know this game weaves in and out of the movie. You play as either Ghost or Niobi on missions that run parallel to the latest Matrix movie.

The movie sequences were probably the best part of the game. The cutscenes were shot while the movie was shot, so the look is very authentic. The story, much more complex than the first Matrix, is explained a little by the game.

The driving sequences were difficult, and more frustrating than challenging. The hovercraft gameplay was infinitely more frustrating.

The graphics are pretty good. Most of the levels looked pretty good (the hovercraft and sewer levels looked absolutely terrible). The graphics are about as good as your typical 3rd person shooter. The characters looked a little boxy, and Niobi and Ghost look a little awkward when fighting.

The controls are a bit counter-intuitive: with black as the firing button, and the right thumbstick bringing bringing up first person zoom. You cannot control the camera angle. Sniping is damn near impossible. The kung-fu fighting is not as good as a genuine fighting game (Tekken, DOA, etc), but it's not so bad as to really take much from the game.

The focus element of this game is, perhaps as expected, the most fun. The characters can focus, slowing down time so you can do cool stuff (run along walls, jump long distances, dodge bullets, etc). There are a lot of cool things to do in focus mode, and it makes the game worth playing.

This game will keep you busy for a lttle while. The bullet-time makes it worth playing and the cutscenes keep it interesting. If you're not a Matrix fan, definately try this before you buy. But be forewarned this game is difficult to master.

I was fortunate enough to get to play through the game recently, here's what i thought of it

Graphics:

Character Models are are really good, but the environments don't look nearly as good. There's little to no atmospheric effects (fog, rain, etc). All in all the game looks bland. Special effects, like bullet time, are well done. Motion captured moves have choppy transtitions. (for example, the end of a punching animation does not smoothly flow into the animation for kicking, leaving the game looking jerky) . I saw a special on mtv about the game. It was pretty clear that ETM uses a modified version of the Messiah engine. The programmer was demonstarting the same tessellating polygon technique used in Messiah. It's interesting to see how powerful some aspects of the game's graphics engine can be, and yet the game still looks so bland.

Sound:

No problems here, uses mostly the ochestral score from the first movie.

Gameplay:

Kung Fu battles can easily be won by mashing buttons, except against agents. Go into focus mode and then mash buttons to hit an agent.

Gunplay is awkward, at least on Xbox. Using the black button to fire your gun is not very intuitive. Sniping is very frustrating, you push the right analog stick to enter first person mode, then you must push fire to bring up the reticle if you did not already have your gun drawn.

Running up the walls, backflips, etc. are all easy to execute and can be useful in doding enemy fire. Strafing is a pain in the neck, i don't understand why shiny chose not to let you strafe with the right analog stick.

Overall the 3rd person missions are usually short in length, The combat is unvaried. Many sub-levels are very similar. Once you've seen a couple, you've seen them all (with a few exceptions)

The driving in the game is mediocre at best. There are about 4-6 driving levels. The environments are empty, very few cars, even on the highway levels. The enemy AI is downright stupid. The physics are horrible.

The flying levels are downright unplayable, i didn't play as ghost, so i can't comment on the gunning levels.

The cinema scenes range from great to poor, but some are definitly worth seeing.

Hacking the Matrix:

a fun aside, one of the best parts of the game. I think i've completed everything possible in it, in which case it doesn't add more than an hour or 2 to game length.

Playing through as both characters:

More of a chore than anything else. Alot of repeat levels, through there is some new content. It's like how you used to have to play through Tony Hawk games with multiple characters to unlock things: you've seen most of it the first time through.

RENT it, it's not very long about 8 hrs, and it certainly does not have much replay value. It seems like they got way too caught up with all the technology they had available and didn't take the time to fix the gameplay problems.

Honest reviews on Enter the Matrix - Xbox

When I heard about this game, I didn't think it would be much more than a re-make of Max Payne (which is an awesome game nontheless). But when I bought it I was blown away by the realistic looking faces and unbelievable cut-scenes. Did I mention the real movie cut-scenes done by the real actors? This game is a Matrix movie in and of itself. With a special "Hacking" feature, you can actully "hack" into the Matrix mainframe. I use this feature to insert many cheat codes that make life in the Matrix soooo much easier. I could beat the game without them, but this just speeds things up. You can also unlock secret messages from Morpheus, Trinity, Neo, and many more other characters. I played this game after seeing "The Matrix Reloaded" movie and couldn't believe how well the storyline ties in with the movie. The decisions you make in the game actually affect the outcome at the end. It's actually 2 games in one since the gameplay as Ghost is totally different from that of Naiobi. Oh, and with a certain cheat, the game becomes a multi-player fighting arena. Yeah, Enter The Matrix goes Tekken. Awesome!!! Well, I hope this review persuades you to invest in this amazing peice of the Matrix Trilogy. Sure, the graphics can be a bit choppy at times, but the overall experience is definitely worth the bucks.

The matrix. A great movie. A grand movie. Enter the Matrix? Find the exit quick. Fortunately, you can be told how bad this game is, you don't have to see it for yourself. This game is a dissapointment. The movie was so great, hype surounded the game, it came out, people were fooled.

Bad graphics + glitches + bad control = bad game.

If you have twenty bucks then simply buy a tom clancy game (splinter cell, ghost recon) or for ten bucks more get Halo. But please, please save your trouble and stay away from this game. Please don't be fooled. And if you don't believe merent it.
