We got this for my daughters 8th birthday party. The kids had a blast dancing to it. I love how a whole group can dance or they can compete. We were nervous about sexual dance moves or inappropriate songs but so far (we havent made it through all of them) we have not been disappointed. The kids have a blast and we adults do too!

Songs are OK, Kids enjoyed it but my younger ones had trouble with using their hands to select everything, I would have thought you could have used a controller or hand motion

This headset really changed the quality of my Xbox communications. Pretty straight forward this headset makes what I'm saying very clear to others. I can hear everyone very well. Its heavier than the normal headsets that come with the Xboxes so it takes some getting use to if you happen to have some pretty lengthy sessions like my friends and I.

I've only had this headset a week so I can't speak for how long it will last and I tend to go through a lot of headsets but honestly I've used it over 10 hours so far and at the price I think its worth it. If something were to happen to it I would get the same headset instead of going with the other ones.

I can see some people wanting wireless which this one doesn't have but the volume wheel and mute/non-mute buttons are in nice places and the connection to the controller is pretty nice.

I'd give this headset a 4 out of 5 because it does do great for my communicating needs, it is heavy but its to be expected but all in all it does great and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a communication solution for their Xbox.

I'll start off by saying for 5 bucks, I was not expecting much out of these, but come to my surprise, they really had a lot more to offer than I thought. The reason to why I purchased these was so that I could have the ability to chat and nothing more. As for the headset itself, you can hear little to no static while players are chatting and the mic works fairly well as I have asked players to give their opinion on how the mic sounded. This headset can fit comfortably on you're ears for about an hour and a half, but after that you may begin to feel numbness and pain along the ends of you're ears. One downside to this headset is that it cuts off sound from the actual game play so It can be a bit difficult to hear the pitter patter of an opposing players feat as he comes in for the knife to ruin your streak. I'd recommend either turning up the volume so that you can hear, or keep one of the earphones on and the other off. Although the headset feels a little cheap, It still has a sufficient amount of durability considering that I've already dropped it a couple times and have had no problem with them sense. Overall, this is not you're top tier gaming headset, but for 5 bucks, they can certainly get the job done in a sufficient manner. I'd definitely recommend these to anyone looking for an inexpensive headset merely just for the ability to chat.

Please leave a positive vote if you found this review helpful. Thanks. And as always, feel free to ask any questions related to the product or review. I'll try to answer them as best as possible.

For the price, it is great. The only issue I have with this product is that it really limits all other sound from penetrating.. Most importantly the game sounds! So I can hear everyone talking and that's great, but I likely won't hear the guy coming up behind me to end my kill-streak! All in all, speedy delivery and great quality/price!

This headset is really awesome. It does everything I want it to do and more. The volume is nice and loud and the microphone is very sensitive, so you may want to distance the reciever away from your mouth. Overall, a cheap yet high quality product.

Unfortunately, there were no recent reviews of Lord of the Rings: Conquest when I bought two copies to explain that Electronic Arts stopped supporting online play for this title back in March of 2010. More dissappointing, Amazon continues to advertise that it does have online play and none of the vendors add a note of warning. It also appears after a lot of investigation and trial and error, that there is no way to even use multi-player over a LAN so you can use your own monitor. Co-optimus states that it still has this feature, but I think they have not updated their information either. Without this feature, the game becomes practically worthless, at least to me (and to many others if you google the situation). Now I have to deal with trying to get a refund for a misrepresented product. Here's my warning to you.

Pandemic, the maker of Star Wars Battlefront has given its familiar engine a facelift and have taken it to Middle-Earth. To be honest I was never really a big fan of Star Wars: Battlefront having been more accustomed to the solitary lightsaber battles of the Jedi Knight series but at least to me the Battlefront concept just seems to work significantly better in the Lord of the Rings universe. I downloaded the demo and couldn't wait to play the full game because it's just fun as hell.

In the Singleplayer campaign you can pick your character class: Warrior, Mage, Archer or Scout and hack and slash your way across the battlefield by rallying your troops in basic "Capture the Flag" strategic objectives or destroying specific tactical goals to achieve victory for your armies. Occasionally you can play a character from the movies such as Aragorn or Gandalf depending on which character class you have currently selected when more "experienced" reinforcements are called upon. The nice thing is that you can change your character class mid-game so you are not always restricted to certain classes/abilities though it is prudent to know when to select specific classes for certain campaigns. For example, a Scout may be called in because of his ability to render himself invisible to sneak past enemy lines, or an Archer would be better suited for ranged attacks. The Mage is very powerful with his staff and can smack down hordes of enemy orcs in close melee or can fire ranged lightning strikes, toss fireballs, and heal wounded troops to bring reinforcements back up to full strength. The Warrior is very powerful with a sword in hand for close action melee and can quickly plow through enemy hordes with a spinning firesword or throw axes for ranged attacks.

The graphics are stunning in HD along with Howard Shore's awesome thematic score playing in the background and Hugo Weaving (Elrond) narrating the game really puts you into the action of the epic battles of Middle Earth first hand.

The Multiplayer campaign allows you to connect with up to 16 players or you can just do a two-player splitscreen co-op with a buddy. You can also choose your side, Good or Bad and change the fate of the ring by destroying Frodo and the Shire by fighting for Saruman's forces, the Lord of the Rings equivalent of turning to the Dark Side. And now you can download expansion packs through the Playstation store to add other characters/classes such as Boromir, Arwen and Gothmog as well as new campaign arena maps like Weathertop and Amon Hen.

This game is mandatory for Lord of the Rings fans and even for the casual players who just want to hack it out, I'd recommend the no-nonsense Instant Action and Deathmatch campaigns. Conquest easily blows away EA's titles, even though I enjoyed playing Lord of the Rings The Two Towers on PS2 which I went back and breezed through again for old-time's sake, Conquest makes it look like a warm-up exercise by comparison. The Battle of Helm's Deep in Conquest is similar to Two-Towers but vastly improved for next-gen gameplay. Plus you get to battle at Minas Tirith, Isengard, and all the way to the Black gates of Mordor in the War of the Ring campaign.

Lord of the Rings: Conquest is one game to rule them all.

Best Deals for Lord of the Rings: Conquest - Playstation 3

I think this game achieves most of what it promised to be. It's fair to call it a 'hack n slash' game. I'm a big fan of the Star Wars: Battlefront series. So far as that goes, you can see how Pandemic has started with that system and progressed it in a few ways, and this, in the LOTR setting, seems like the next logical step. Also, it is a lot of fun, and creating the dark storyline accounting for what would have happened if Frodo failed was quite enjoyable. So I enjoyed both campaigns, particularly the splitscreen with my brother. Pros of the game for me would be playing as just about everyone from the Naz-gul and Balrog to Aragorn and Ents. Also the evil storyline. And the mindless hack and slashing is quite a trip. Just fun to wreak havok and go to town on a bunch of enemies. One big con for me was that it doesn't tally your kills or really keep track of your deaths like Battlefront did. I really like saying to a friend after a weak performance, 'where the heck were you on that one' or if I underachieved to try all the harder to bounce back the next time. And no mentions of 'most kills', or 'most accurate' after the level is over. I really missed that not being there. Also playing as some of the heroes was not all it could have been. It was great but some like the Balrog and Ents are destructive, but so slow I think a lot of destruction and mayhem are unfortunately left on the table. Maybe there is no way to fix that, I don't know. Overall, I thought it was easy to pick up and play. It gave clear goals to focus on, and I think it was a logical progression in the series. I was not sure how they would adapt Battlefront from a shooting style game to a hand to hand style, but I think Pandemic pulled it off. After kills you can pick up small health increases (bigger for bigger kills) and a second meter that builds to unleash more vicious attacks. People complained about no unlockables, which is a valid point, but with enough good content in the game from the start, I didn't miss that as much. I do prefer Battlefront's paintball style way of keeping score (i.e. letting you know how many guys you have left vs. the enemy's total tally) to the Conquest style which is more like 'every other game'. You know you've got 3 lives or whatever to finish the level. That 250 vs 250 style was one thing that made Battlefront stand out for me. So anyway, this is a great game. I think most would have fun with it, especially recommended for those who enjoyed the Battlefront games, hack n slash style, and like the LOTR books/movies.

Honest reviews on Lord of the Rings: Conquest - Playstation 3

I recently rented this game from GameFly. If you're reading this review, hopefully you know that the online play is no more, which is sad. I got this game hoping it was going to be like the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, a game I loved playing on my Nintendo GameCube. I enjoyed the Return of the King because it made hack and slash fun, you got multiplyers for good, excellent and perfect kills. You often had to fight through hordes of enemies and aside from your main weapon, you had bows and arrows and stuff like that, you could also pick up spears and stuff and the game really added a variety and spice to the gameplay.

In Lord of the Rings Conquest, you have four different classes to choose from: warrior, archer, mage and scout. Each has their strengths and weaknesses. You can also play occasionally as a hero that often falls into those various categories. You rack up hits much like in the previous LOTR hack & slash games and you have strong, medium and light attacks and you have various objectives much like the last one, opening doors, claiming positions, protecting things, collecting things, killing baddies and always heading to the next arrow.

This game looks ok. It really disappoints actually, it's nothing special to look at. The recreation of locations looks much like movie locations which is quite something, but the locations are EMPTY. Battlefields looks EMPTY. I can't believe no other review I've read has stated this. This game is NOT EPIC, IT'S EMPTY. I was running around like a crazy person in the Battle for Helms deep LOOKING FOR ORCS TO SLAUGHTER. The game doesn't give the feeling of overwhelming odds and there's more enemies when you invade the Shire then at other key times like the Battle for Helms Deep or the Fields of Pelennor.

You don't use too many of the various classes, you end up just using like the warrior and using the same combo/moves over and over (I realize this same argument could be made about many hack and slash games). But it's boring as heck, and the only thing that helps make this game fun is the occasional break where you get to be some kick-butt dude like Sauramon, Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, an Ent, a Nazgal and my personal favorite, the Balrog. These moments are shining examples in the game that stand out from the time you're that faceless/nameless grunt that will probably die a hundred times by a hundred deaths.

Let's hope that the Lord of the Rings: War in the North will give us a real Lord of the Rings game that will make us proud.

This game is really fun and cool. This game actually is set up very much like the Star Wars Battlefront series. I like the way it is played. You have certain point in which you have to either defend, or attack. In doing so, you earn checkpoints. These checkpoints allow you to change your character in the middle of the game. In certain parts you get to select a Hero for battle!! The great thing about this game is that you can actually play as the enemy. So, you have the choice of being the good or evil side. The graphics are incredible. The music and the sound put you into the action. The voices of the characters are really cool as well. The controls are pretty easy, although there are many different combinations that you can perform using your weapon. It is a very challenging game and learning each character's attack is essential. For example, I couldn't beat Sauron using Gandalf, or an archer or scout because I wasn't used to playing as those characters. I ended up beating Sauron using a warrior. Which I played most of the level with and so I was used to using.

I think you are a Lord of the Rings fan, this is a definite item to put in your collection. Also, the PS3 allows you to download the upgrades to the game to further enhance the experience.

The game also has a cool multiplayer game where you and another player can be on the same screen fighting the same battle. Or do a head to head battle.

I have not yet played on-line, but looking forward to trying it once I get the hang of the game by completing the many levels of difficulty.

I just received this supposed Fable 3 Limited Edition package... it clearly states that the playing cards and coin are included, and the pictures show the entire collection, including the cards, coin and case. NOT TRUE. I spent $60 and received only the game disk. :( What's worse, when I called Amazon, they do the customer service for Jake Steele and whatever else he calls his little company, so you can't contact the seller, you can't request for your order to be filled as it was supposed to be, you can't even complain to the seller. All Amazon "can" do is issue a refund. :( So after excitedly counting down the days until my awesome game collection arrives, I now have to send it back and order what I ordered already, and wait for shipping again. :( Needless to say, I'm extremely unhappy, and dissatisfied with "Jake Steele", and Amazon's lack of concern for their customer.

Best Deals for Fable 3 Limited Collector's Edition

I personally loved the original Fable game, and especially The Lost Chapters expansion. Fable III, however, goes so far away from the feel of that game that it is almost unrecognizable in my opinion. The game play has been "dumbed" down so much that if you are a core gamer and like a challenge, stay clear. The skill required is about the level of a 7 year old. The story itself is not very engaging. Where as the original Fable evoked a serious sense of vengeance for your family, Fable III just feels like a petty squabble amongst siblings. Also, the experience of "ruling" the kingdom will definitely leave you feeling disappointed. Not much really happens with actually being king and your decisions feel pretty limited. Overall, extremely disappointing. Fable II I accepted as the sophomore slump, but this was just plain bad in my opinion.

I have just finished my first play through of this in solo mode and it's a pretty solid game. It's a linear hack 'n' slash that is done pretty well. The mechanics are simple enough, no big combo buttons to hit. I played as the Ranger and he ended up pretty well balanced as we killed our way through Aganduar's minions.

The Graphics are pretty darn good and the atmospheric music works well.

Contrary to many reports, you do need to think a bit in combat as just charging in will have you down and out pretty quick.

There is plenty of loot to sell and swap around your team and it's easy to manage that part.

For those of you who are looking for RPG elements, then this really doesn't contain them, the plot is linear and the interaction with the NPC's either furthers this plot or provides background info on LoTR, but does not allow you to change the storyline.

Neither is this a 'free world' roam, you go in a line as guided by the game.

There has been a lot of concern about the AI not levelling the other characters. It actually does so automatically, neither it, nor you need to apply the points they gain unless you wish to switch to that character, I found my companions quite smart and capable of looking after themselves and me. The AI is also smart enough to gather it's own loot for these characters and equips the best equipment for them, so if you can't remember what they have and give them an inferior 'gift' the AI won't equip it :-)

Overall, I enjoyed my 14 hours in Middle Earth (familiar characters and the law made it quite plausible).

This is not and never was intended to be a 'Skyrim', but it is, none the less fun.

Once you 'beat' the game, you can play through again with the same character and continue levelling on the next difficulty or select a new character and start again, or even select a new character and start again with all their equipment they had as AI in the first play through.

If you like a simple game, that passes the time, come wage 'War in the North'.

Hello and thanks for checking out my review of this game by Snowblind Studios.. This game has people split down the middle. Is it worth a play through if you are on the fence about this game? Maybe this will help a bit. Think Baldurs gate (with bigger enemies of course) mixed with some dynasty warriors, then throw in a little horde mode (ala GOW) for the challenge missions (which you try to last through multiple waves of enemies including boss characters.

The Lord of the Rings : War in the North is set as a companion piece beside the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It overlaps the plot of the movies at many points and allows you to mingle with most of the main characters from the movies and books. This is an UNTOLD story within the LOTR universe and as such should have a special attraction to those who are big fans of the original story. You will choose between 3 playable characters, a dwarf, a magician elf, or a Ranger (archer). Each character has their own skill tree associated with building up special skills and or improving base ones. All three of your characters are participating in the loot gathering and leveling process. You can ONLY play with one of them at any given time and are NOT allowed to switch between them throughout the levels. Therefore you will have to wait until the end of each level to assign points and to decide which character to use. This can be a bad mix as you will have to take EACH CHARACTER INDIVIDUALLY to the shops to sell, and buy new items. The same poor design applys to the skill tree. You would have thought the developers would have allowed for an easier way to manage the party. It is important that you continue to develop these secondary characters even if you focus on one (as I did with the Ranger). The reason is that you will need the powers of the other characters beefed up for specific boss fights. So this is A MAJOR deduction for me. You will be wizzing along with the story and then realize that it's time to take care of the party which slows the pacing down. But I did like the skill trees as well as the loot options found throughout the towns you visit.

I thought the character development was important as this may be a game saver to those who care (like i do) but for those who don't care about the story.. and are looking for the next technological marvel... Pass on this game like the black plague. It is buggy and you will likely get ticked off at your party members as they are not the best teammates in terms of strategy or efficiency you will scream for them to get out of your way at least 10 times). But the game is not apologetic about what it is or what it attempts to do. If it was released 5 years ago it would be considered a top tier title but is shadowed by some pretty impressive competition this holiday. And despite its rather poor technology it is a fun and satisfying dungeon crawler. But it is far from perfect. I liked the damage system which allows you to see the combos you are pulling off and rewards you for stringing more of them together. I also felt that the combat was simple AND YET SATISFYING. I disagree with the reviews on acuracy of hits. It is accurate enough for this type of game.

Graphics in the game are good.. NOt great. But you will enjoy the larger Boss battles as well as some of the extremely satisfying environments. There will be some points you will be impressed and others you will feel like a different development team was subbing in at some point. But the title is one of VERY FEW LICENSED LOTR GAMES THAT SUCCEEDS IN MAKING THE GAME FUN AND WORTHWHILE. I am 10 hours in already and have opened up several towns as well as some challenges that change up the flavor. I found myself playing these "challenges" several times and was having fun. It reminded me of some of the Borderlands DLC maxies

*****It is a violent game and the action can offer decapitations as well as arms and legs being serated.. I would not allow a child to play the game if you want to avoid this.. BUT IF YOU CHANGE OPTIONS SETTINGS YOU CAN TURN OFF THE GORE and there are little other concerns from a language/conceptual angle *****

So to summarize... I am not verified because I rented it.. And am keeping it out for an exptended time. I feel it is worthy of a purchase but not at it's current price. Maybe on the first couple of price drops snag it or do as I have and try it out first. I think it's dated feel hurts it as a top tier title worthy of release date spending. The game is worth a playthrough for ANYONE looking for a good CO OP dungeon crawler. It does the license justice and stays true to the LOTR mythos. It is a blast to combo up 5 or 6 enemies (think batman arkham) and then use a quick finishing move to finish off an orc. AS A CO OP GAME THIS GAME IS FANTASTIC TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS!!!!! That should be enough for some to try it out as the co op is done very well indeed. I would bump up the fun factor a ton when playing with buddies.

best LOTR property I can remember on a CONSOLE.. Enjoy!

Best Deals for Lord of the Rings: War in the North - Xbox 360

This is a pretty basic game, it's a hack and slash RPG. It's fun, challenging and the loot keeps things pretty interesting. I bought this specifically for the co-op option, there is a good chance I won't be playing this at all on single layer (not to say that wouldn't be fun). My wife and I had a blast with Baulder's Gate on the PS2 and we've never really been able to find anything that was close enough to that game since then (well, SHE hasn't).

The fighting is quick and fluid, the conversations with the villagers are not tedious. Getting in and out of the leveling menus is easy and.from what I can tell the re-playability on this will be decent because the skill tree looks like it can't be filled in one game. The game is not an open world style, but there are side quests that you can pick up in the towns you visit and you'll find these items along your path.

The game is challenging as well, despite my protests we are playing this first round on easy and I've still died a few times. But still, I'm not exactly sweating the battles with the big guys either.

If I were rating this for a single player I'd probably put it at 4 stars, still a great game but I'd want a little more depth in a single player campaign.

Oddly enough the cut scenes remind me of last gen graphics but the game play graphics are beautiful. One of the first times I've seen something like that happen.

I'm actually thinking about getting this game as a gift for someone for Christmas so we can play the three player co-op.

Honest reviews on Lord of the Rings: War in the North - Xbox 360

First off i do not for the life of me know what the reviewers of this game were playin when they reviewed this game. This is some of the most fun me and my brother have had in a while. The review complains of dying to much, ok that is true if you just charge in and start swingin a la Dynasty Warrior but as for my game i used the ranger, my brother used the Mage and the AI the warrior and the (AI does a pretty good job i might add). Anyway the dwarf would tank while i hung back in the corner and sniped while the mage split time between throughin a healing shield on the dwarf and backing away to use spells. It promoted an tactical battle that wasn't just a free for all brawl. Also the reviews complain of your abilities taking to much mana, well as for me that also promoted a tactical edge because you can't just run into a battle spam'n special moves. You must pick when and where to throw out an ability and our mage had a ton of will enhancing runes on the equipment so my brothers mage had an healthy mana pool. It just seems the more i play the more baseless the reviews i have read are. I'm having a hell of a time and if anybody has any friends or family that likes these sort of games, it is some of the best co-op i have played since baldurs gate: dark alliance for ps2. This is why i base my opionion on my experience and not critics. You are doing yourself an injustice if you do not give this game a shot.

As a Lord of the Rings fan, I pretty much assumed that most games would be movie spin off rubbish or past it's prime MMO games. So, I was a little hesitant about picking up LOTR: War in the North. After spending a solid night playing the game, the following are my initial impressions on the game.

For starters, the game is mature in nature, which is awesome. You hack and slash enemies arms off their bodies and blood is spilling everywhere. You can turn this off, but in a universe that this rarely occurs in, I love it. This isn't a movie rehash where everything is toned down to get a certain rating, you'll see blood in your travels, and that's a good thing in a world that is certainly violent by design.

At the onset of the game, you'll be tasked with picking one of three characters. A human Ranger, Elf caster, and a dwarf axe wielder. Each class is similar in that they can do melee and range but they all have their own specialties. I chose to go with the ranger. While the game gives you a default look for your character, you can change it early in the game when you are in Bree. I really liked this addition to the game since you can make the character your own. My ranger has jet black hair and a square jaw. Kind of reminds me Madmartigan from Willow (props if you remember that classic movie.)

The gameplay in War in the North is typical hack and slash. On medium difficulty, enemies take a good deal to bring down early in the game but after each level you will be putting points into stats that will help you bring down enemies faster (or to complement whatever play style you have. The gameplay is indeed fun but by the end of the night I was getting a little tired of it. There wasn't much in the way of variety to change things up. But, I'm still very early in the game and this shouldn't be a huge criticism against it since the world is still being fleshed out and the characters introduced.

If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, you'll really enjoy this game. Being able to play as someone besides the main characters from the books/movies is a welcome way to enjoy the universe and you'll see things happening in the world from a different perspective. New enemies I've never heard of pop up and all are involved in the story we all know and love in same way. If you aren't too hot on the LOTR series though, your mileage may vary with this game. Hack and slash fans will enjoy it but there are certainly better games out there to play. Being a fan of LOTR gives the game the extra "oomph" needed to push the player along in the world.

So, final though Lord of the Rings: War in the North really good game that can get tiring if you aren't a LOTR fan. Hack and Slash fans will enjoy the game, but their mileage will vary depending on interest in this beloved series.

I purchased this headset as soon as it was available from Amazon. I have been using this headset daily since and it works and looks great. I have been using this headset for my Xbox 360 (party chats while gaming), my PS3 (also used for chatting while gaming) and I also have it synced to my Iphone 4 (used for listening to my music & calls). The style of it is nice and shiny (prone to fingerprints through) and feels comfortable (comes with different size ear pieces). I was constantly asking people about the sound quality on their end to make sure i came through clear and loud, which i did. On my end everyone sounded the same. The buttons on this headset feel nice and respond well and the ability to switch from bluetooth to xbox is done with a simple flick of a button. I was using it for my phone quite often until i have to admit I felt like a weirdo wearing it all the time in public (i never really been a fan of headsets for cell phones) and it does say xbox 360 on the side of it, wish it didn't but not a big deal and I really purchased this for my xbox and PS3. I also do own the original wireless headset and feel like both are great headsets. In my opinion if you are looking for a wireless headset this is the way to go. A couple more dollars than the original one but you can use it for everything. I rated this headset a 4 instead of a 5 because I have had some problems with it acting weired if I had wanted to run upstairs to grab something from the kitchen (I game in my basement) it would cut out or people wouldn't hear me, might be because i went out of range then back in? But after turning it off and on real quick that would solve the problem. Hope this review helps!

After reading all the reviews on this item from various sites, I decided to buy it because there were mixed reviews. The xbox 360 Wireless headset with bluetooth is good or bad depending on your qualifications of being good. The good and bad reviews that I have read have completely different sides to the same thing. For example, the sound is great and the sound is horrible. This is what I dislike about reviews, because they are opinionated

Before I used the product, I read the manual paper they gave. I also charged it before use because that is what it told me to do. Reading is fundamental.

I am not a professional reviewer so this is my opinion on what people should think about and expect to see when they purchase this product.

The Headset Overall

I think this is a good product and know that there are things that people will be very picky about. One thing is the sound. The sound is different than you are used to, of course. It's because it is a different type of headset. The sound is something you have to experience and see for yourself. It may take getting used to, but will work out if you believe in it. If all fails, return it.

People say there is a buzzing or slight static noise coming from the earpiece. There is, however, it is so slight, you could only hear it when you are in a quiet place. I walked into my garage and tested this, and there is that little, tiny static noise that people will hate this mic for. I, for one, do not notice the sound unless I really concentrate on it. That, you must also try for yourself. I don't think it's very troublesome because as I play my games, people are talking and communicating and when on bluetooth, the other persons phone will pick up their background noise therefore you hear it and that static will be replaced with the persons voice or background noise. Every once and a while, there is also a little small beep or something that makes it sound like it idled or disconnected and reconnected which is weird or is just the cutting out of other talkers.

The mic has a weird feel to it. The earpiece is on your ear, and is a piece of plastic, but isn't a problem to me. The earpiece on the other hand, has a unique feel. I am using the smallest rubber piece because the others were quite big for my ear. The feel on your ear is different. There are little things that bother me when using it. One is the plastic piece that you connect to the headset. There was a little piece of plastic that was around the loop that poked my ear, so I filled it down slightly. Now when the earpiece is in your ear, it's not all the way in your ear. It is slightly in your ear. It feels like it is hanging a little bit, but when I shake my head it does not come off at all. Once again, you need to experience it for yourself to see if you like it or not. It may take a little getting used to.

The mute button is a pain too. When you press it, it pushes the earpiece and it kind of hurts. Really annoying.

[Update 4/6/12: The mute button can be pressed directly, which made it poke my ear, and indirectly, which doesn't hurt at all. Instead of pressing the center of the button, you can press lower or higher to mute or use the "action" button on bluethooth. Took me a while, but it makes a difference.]

XBOX 360 CHAT

Xbox 360 Chat is different in party chat and game chat. Different games have different chat in which the sound is slightly different, but this is for party chat.

Now for the mic. Since the mic is right next to your cheek, there are limits to what it picks up. For example, I tested what this headset picks up by joining my friends XBL party. I told him to repeat everything I said. In this experiment I found that it has a strange way of picking things up. When I whisper, the headset picks it up. Screaming will not be screaming, but rather talking loud and sounding like you are farther away from your headset because it's next to your cheek. When I speak in a really-moderately soft voice with no bass in my voice, it does not pick it up. That is what I dislike most about the headset, but only if I'm trying to talk soft due to people sleeping, which I don't anyways.

For the people on the other end, they hear you as softer than you were when you were using a wired basic microsoft wired headset. You are heard like you are further away from your mic when people hear you, but it doesn't seem to bother people. When you talk though, there is feedback from the background. What I was told was that there was the sound of air after I spoke, but stopped withing milliseconds when I stopped talking. That may be a setback because if you're playing loud music or you have a sound system, it may bother people.

BLUETOOTH

Bluetooth is a great idea for this headset and might have some flaws in it as well

When speaking through the headset to another caller, you sound different, just like you were when on xbox. You sound further away, but they can still hear you fine. I haven't experienced much with the Bluetooth yet, but it is relatively the same as when you're on Xbox Live.

The sound quality is pretty good for me. I tested it on my voice mail, which I recommend everyone to do. The automated part is quite loud, but the voice message that a person left is on the slight soft side. In a call, the sound is good, if adjustment are needed, use the volume. I found that the volume is better at a medium to high volume for the best sound, but for the low volume, it may sound fuzzy.

I played music on the xbox 360 headset with bluetooth from my phone. It sounds the same as you were if you were using headphones or earphones to me. Just adjust the volume as necessary.

Overall

This mic cannot be judged on any one person or even in several reviews. I read reviews that are good and bad and I couldn't find a moderate review explaining why it is good or bad, so I decided to write one for myself to try and explain my experience. If you are reading this review, this is what I have experienced and if you decided to purchase this product, you may have a different experience when using it.

If you have any questions, just ask and I'll try to answer to the best of my abilities.

UPDATE 12/12/12: So it has been about a year now and the headset seems to be working just fine. I have noticed that if I walk far away enough from my Xbox, the mic would disconnect and sometimes the people in my party would hear a loud screeching noise. When that happens, they tell me and i turn my headset off and then on again.

I have switched to the new SLIM Xbox. When I did so, I noticed a static noise. This is the same static noise that I heard before when I walked into my garage or whatnot. The static noise is more noticeable now. It might be because I transferred from one system to another but I don't know. The static is more noticeable when you initially turn it on and no one is talking to you, but you forget about it during your gaming experience.

Battery life on this headset is still superb. I use it daily so it dies every day. I play on average about 9 hours a day on and off. After around 8 hours, the mic will make a single notification notifying you it is running low on battery power, having roughly 20-30 minute left. After a certain amount of time, it begins to beep constantly. Maybe every 10 seconds, which is very annoying. That beep or noise is telling you that you need to charge it. I turn it off and charge it immediately because the sound is quite irritating. It takes about an hour or two to fully recharge again.

The headset might be dying on me though. In some instances, I walk too far from my Xbox and does the disconnect thing and the headset won't reconnect. I try to sync it to my Xbox and it still doesn't work. I plug it in the charger and wait for it to fully charge again and turn it on. Then it starts to work, sometimes. To avoid this, just put your headset down if you are going to walk to a place that is too far from your Xbox or has walls that the signal cannot get across.

All in all, since the price dropped $30 since I bought this headset, I would definitely buy it again. I would have two, so if one runs out of batteries, I have a spare.

If you are looking to try it out, go for it. The worst that can happen is you going back and returning it.

Best Deals for Xbox 360 Wireless Headset with Bluetooth

Love the fact that you can chat with your buddies on Xbox and switch over to receive calls from your phone. Battery life is excellent. Before I used it for the first time, I charged it for 2 hours and after that, I have been using it for two weeks now without charging. Of course it helps if you turn it off when you're not using it. It's also very easy to setup and sync with your devices just like any bluetooth. I have had many bluetooths before and have never used them as much as I use this one. Invest in one!

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Wireless Headset with Bluetooth

I am reading the other reviews and people are complaining about things that I have yet to encounter. Let me focus on what people are saying. As for it being uncomfortable, I actually find it to be very comfortable. I didnt bother switching the ear bud size because the one it came with fit perfect. The little loop that goes around your ear doesn't bother me at all. Ive been playing borderlands 2 for.... should I dare say... 5+ hours :o haha but it didnt bother me at all. Just like all other ear buds, if you do wear it for a long time your ear will get uncomfortable although mine hasn't... so keep that in mind. People are complaining about there not being a separate cable or attachment to switch to Bluetooth, people its on the freaking earpiece itself and literally takes less then a second to switch it to Bluetooth.... -____I find that the volume is perfect, its crystal clear and I hear no buzzing noise whatsoever. Turning it up or down is easy and you can hear if its going up or down. The mute button is on the actual front side and you must push it in (towards your ear) It doesnt hurt at all, you dont need to push it hard, just a simple click. One thing that I absolutely love about the mute feature on this is that when you have your mic muted, it actually beeps every 3 minutes reminding you that its muted. With other mics I get so into the game I forget to un-mute and end up talking to myself for a while until i figure it out haha. Turning it on it a synch and switching from player 1-4 is super super easy, one press of the button and there you go, no switching controllers or signing out of accounts and re-signing back in. There is one things that I have come to notice that is a little off with the device and thats the fact that it will sometimes randomly get choppy. Its happened twice so far and its as easy as holding the power button and turning it back on (takes like 3 seconds for this process) Over all im incredibly pleased with this Xbox 360 wireless mic/Bluetooth!

OK SO I EXPECTED THIS TO BE A RATHER NORMAL MODDED CONTROLLER. WOW WAS I WRONG. I SYNCED IT AND IMMEDIATELY ENTERED A PRIVATE MATCH WITH MY FRIENDS (BLACK OPS). NOW NORMALLY IN A TDM (TEAM DEATH MATCH) MY KDR (KILL TO DEATH RATIO) IS ABOUT 11-15, SO I SUCK. WELL IN A 3.V.3 I FINISHED TOP OF THE LIST WITH A KDR OF 26-7. THATS A HUGE IMPROVEMENT. ITS AN 8 MODE AND WORKS WITH ALL COD GAMES, HALO 3, HALO REACH, AND GEARS OF WAR 2. THE BLUE LED RING OF LIGHTS ARE AMAZING. THE ONLY FLAW IS THAT ABOUT 15% OF THE TIME THE MOD LAGS AFTER YOU STOP RUNNING, BUT IT MIGHT JUST BE MY CONTROLLER. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS MOD IN ACTION BEFORE PURCHASING THE CONTROLLER FRIEND REQUEST OR SEND A MESSAGE TO xWDoAx Slap You (xbox live). ALL IN ALL, GREAT BUY.

Star Trek Online has been hyped for quite a long time and after a little drama (company changes / rumors of vaporware) it is finally released.

Starting Up:

When starting out I was presented with the same basic "create your character" sequence that is common with most MMOs. A somewhat unique feature is to be able to give yourself specific traits. Character customization is good and keeps everybody looking different. You also get to pick whether you want to be part of the Federation or Klingon Empire (each comprises several different races). In this part of the game you also select what you want your ship to look like. You can do a reasonable amount of customization to your ship which keeps things looking a little unique between everybody. The intro/tutorial does a decent job of walking you through the basics of the interface and interaction with the world.

Game Play:

After everything is set up you start out by doing missions for different people. After you get your missions, you leave the space dock and "fly off" to your mission location. What I found quickly is that the missions consist of two types. Type one is essentially "go to this location and kill the bad guys". Type two is "go to this location, beam to the surface, and kill the bad guys".

As you kill more bad guys and complete your missions, you gain experience to improve your abilities (most of which help you to kill bad guys faster). After you gain enough experience you gain a new rank (go from Lt. to Lt. Cmdr.). Each rank contains 10 grades. So the total number of "levels" you can obtain is 50 I believe. After gaining rank you can buy better ships... so that you can more easily kill the bad guys.

Crafting/Gathering:

One feature is the ability to scan and collect resources. While traveling around you will come across or can scan for anomalies. When found you can scan them up close and collect different resources. These are used for the extremely simplistic crafting system. The idea is that you bring your different items that you have collected from the anomalies to a person and they will use them to upgrade some ship or personal item you are carrying. The idea isn't as bad as the implementation. During the time I've played so far you are extremely limited as to what you can upgrade and what upgrades are done. The upgrades also don't get you items that are really worth the effort of gathering the resources.

Exploration:

Not too familiar with this but my understanding is that you basically go around and complete missions (Kill stuff) for a group of systems within a sector. Then you are awarded exploration points or something like that which you can use to buy ship or personal items. Not much emphasis was put on this part of the game from what I can tell so far.

I haven't got into the PvP part of the game so that is absent from this review.

Pros:

You get to be a ship captain in a star trek environment.

If you liked the combat based episodes of Star Trek then this game is tailored for you.

Space combat mechanics is fairly well done and interesting.

A "Hold your hand" approach to game play. (Could be a con if you like the sandbox approach)

Cons:

If you are picky about graphics quality you will be disappointed.

Pretty much everything in the game is "instanced" and separated by "rooms". What this means is that you are never in a true "Massively" multiplayer environment. Most of the rooms you are in have roughly 50 people and the instances have even less.

Even with the instancing and rooms, the game universe feels small.

The game suffers from the typical "grind" to progress issues.

The point of the game is to shoot anything that moves (i.e. If you're not sure, shoot it). Many feel that this is not what Star Trek was/is about.

Little emphasis placed on Crafting/Gathering and Exploration.

Overall the game will appeal to people who want to play specifically because it is Star Trek. As far as an MMO is concerned... it is not. I suspect that even Star Trek fans (like myself) will want more than what is offered here. I've found the general consensus from people who participated in the open beta is that the game has so much potential but falls short on the delivery.

My recommendation is to wait a few months to buy the game until it is complete and some of the "Afterthought" features are finished.

As a huge fan of both Star Trek and video games, I have been looking forward to trying this game for years. Trek and an MMO really seem like the perfect marriage, if you think about it. There's a whole galaxy of content and 40+ years worth of stories to draw on. This game was really a no-brainer. Or so one would think.

I had the opportunity to play in Open Beta, through the Head Start, and now I'm about a week into release. So, I've been playing this game fairly consistently for close to a month. I play games a lot, and I have played nothing but this game since beta, and I think I've got a pretty good handle on most of what it offers, so I feel like I have more than enough information to write an informed review.

I bet if you were to ask any Trek fan who had never heard of this game (hypothetically) what a Star Trek MMO would be like, you would get a huge amount of great, creative, fun ideas for a truly massive game that encompasses the vast and noble feeling of Star Trek.

The one thing a Trek fan would NOT tell you is that they would expect ANYTHING like what this game is.

What Cryptic has done here is taken all the 40+ years of lore, all the potential for a massive and engaging game, all the many varied aspects of Star Trek, and they distilled it to a very, very simplistic space shooter that feels about as massive as a shoebox.

All that talk of diplomacy from the TV series? Forget it. This is Trek for the ADD crowd. It's all phasers and photon torpedoes. It's all out war all the time, and you won't stop until every ship in every system is reduced to a pile of floating debris.

Exploring the galaxy? Seeking out new worlds and new civilizations? Hardly. The galaxy is represented by the "sector map" which is a ridiculous looking neon grid where you'll see your ship, and the ships of other players, floating around heading for various neon icons of planetary systems. Notice I said "planetary systems" and not "solar systems?" That's because they only bothered to make one planet for each system.. and with very few exceptions, you can't even go to that one planet unless you've been told to go there by your Starfleet contacts. And when you DO get to beam down to a planet? Each planet consists of a tiny patch of land with nothing but the objectives for the one mission that allows you to go there. I'm talking very very small here. I think the largest one I've seen so far was an indoor environment about a quarter of the size of an old Doom level. You scan your five "whatevers", vaporize a few dozen baddies with a ground combat system that's as bland and boring as they come, beam back up to the ship and then do it all over again in another "system" Wash, rinse, repeat.

One more thing that needs to be mentioned about the "Sector Space" is that each sector is divided into several "blocks" of systems, and in order to get to the next block, you have to go through a loading screen. Not only that, but each block is divided into a bunch of "instances", to keep the server from overloading. What this means is that, when you go to Earth Spacedock for example, 20 of you will go in to Earth instance A, 20 of you will go into Earth instance B, and so on. So, not only do you not get the feeling of a massive galaxy to explore, but you also don't even get to see everyone who's there! Just 20 random people. Even if you are in a group with your buddies and go to Earth, you will almost certainly not end up in the same instance.

This causes the game to suffer in a number of ways. They have a few space stations set up here and there, like Earth spacedock, Deep Space Nine, etc.. and they are clearly meant to serve as social spaces. They have a bar and an observation lounge.. heck.. at DS9 you can even go to Quark's, but there's nothing to do, nobody there, and as a result, nobody socializes. Quark's (which is itself a seperate instance from DS9) is always totally devoid of human players. It's depressing to walk around these places and notice how empty they feel.

So.. the majority of your time, you're going to be floating on the neon grid of Sector Space, flying towards your next boring shoot-em-up mission that's just a reskin of the last one you did, and most of the time, you'll be doing it all by yourself.

To be fair, they do have what they call "exploration missions." What that means is that you're directed to another block of the Sector Space grid. Only, instead of seeing icons of planet systems in the distance, you'll see a pink haze and the same blue grid, with the occasional "anomaly" for you to scan. This will sometimes take you to a random mission in an "unexplored system". But, you'll quickly find that these missions are just like the others, and you'll often be doing the exact same one two or three times in a row as you go from anomaly to anomaly.

All of this exploration stuff takes place in a block smaller than any of the other blocks, and you'll usually see another 15 or 20 people there waiting for these "anomalies" to spawn. When they do, it's a race to get to them, because once a system has been explored, it disappears and pops back up in another spot at another time. Imagine floating in a blue boxed grid with pink fog with 20 other people waiting for these systems to appear. That's what they call exploration in this game. Where no one has gone before? Indeed not.

So.. with all that negativity out of the way, there are some things that I DO like about Star Trek Online. Mainly the space combat. The best part of this game to me is that, as you work your way through the ranks from Lieutenant to Admiral, you will get to control more and more powerful ships at each step. The ships can be equipped with a wide variety of weapons and stat enhancing consoles which you will also upgrade along the way. You also get to commission Bridge Officers, who each bring different abilities to the table. In your first ship, you are allowed to have one Tactical Bridge officer, one Engineering officer, and one Science officer. At first, only one of their abilities will be available to you in space. You may have a Tactical officer with the "High Yield Torpedo" ability, which allows you to fire 2 torpedoes instead of the usual one, or a Science officer with a "Sensor Jam" which will remove the enemy's ability to target you for a short time.

The way you can mix and match your weapons, equipment, and Bridge Officers is very well done. It's obvious that this is where Cryptic spent most of their development time, and I think most players will at least agree that the space combat is fun. It starts off very easy, but as your level increases, your combat options and the enemy difficulty increase quite a bit. Taking down 3 Romulan Birds of Prey with nothing but your quick fingers and wits, escaping by the skin of your teeth.. it's really quite awesome.. and as out of place as it feels to be constantly blowing up ships in a Trek MMO, you never really get tired of it.

So, to sum up.. this is an extremely unfinished game. It's very light on content right now, does not feel anything like an MMO, and needs a HELL of a lot of work before it should even be considered as a serious contender to the other MMOs on the market. That said, I want and hope to see the game grow, so I have decided to subscribe for a few months and see how it goes.

Is it worth it for you? Well, all I can say is read these reviews, watch some gameplay videos, and read up on Cryptic's plans for expanding the game. If you believe they will make good on their promise to make this game better, then give it a shot. It's going to be the only Star Trek MMO that we have for quite a while.

Imagine a Star Trek RPG where you have your own ship and crew and you travel the galaxy, exploring strange new world and seeking out new civilizations, involving yourself in first contact missions, talking to new species, fighting new enemies and feeling like anything could be over the next horizon.

Now throw all that away, because instead we got a tired MMO.

There is no real RPG here for fans of classic RPGs. The dialogue is bland and perfunctory, without choice or consequence in any serious measure. The enemies are all normal Star Trek enemies, and basically reskins of each other. The exploration is limited to pressing a button on a shiny object and getting some useless mineral reward. If you imagine a game like Mass Effect, Dragon Age or Fallout with the Star Trek license you will be severely disappointed, because you end up with a bland and stale traditional MMO with no feeling of story, exploration or discovery what-so-ever. I think we all pretty much knew this would happen when this was announced as a Cryptic MMO instead of a single-player RPG, but it is still disappointing to see.

Space combat is probably the saving grace here... very fun, and though insanely repetitive it never really grows old much. Ground combat is fun but extremely buggy the last time I played, just not a polished experience at all. Even if combat was awesome across the board though, you still need a reason to fight, and STO gives you nothing... no story, no innovative missions, NOTHING.

Unless you love Guild Wars style MMO missions, avoid at all costs, despite the license. I wish I did.

Honest reviews on Star Trek Online - PC

I played the open beta. I created a couple different Federation characters and one Klingon. Ultimately I felt that game was rushed to market and does not have a true MMO feel due to the heavy instancing. I would recommend anyone interested in this game to give it 6 months and then check on its progress.

PROS:

* I found the space combat to be fun and I did enjoy the graphics and 3-D combat.

* Being able to hail Starfleet to turn in quests and receive new ones is great. I love not returning to the quest giver directly.

* The Federation ships can be customized to produce a lot of detail and diversity.

* The ship replicator easily disposes of unwanted items without having to waste time finding an NPC vendor.

* Some of the space backgrounds and settings were very detailed and nicely rendered.

* Death or ship destruction just results in you re-spawning.

CONS:

* The ground combat felt rushed and primitive. There is no cover system only a lot of standing/crouching and shooting.

* Enemy ground AI was fairly simplistic. They either rushed in to melee or stayed back to perform various ranged attacks.

* Many things seemed rushed or unfinished concerning story and overall polish.

* Klingons characters are currently so devoid of quests/solo content that Crypic is promoting them as a PVP race.

* Klingons also show rushed development in other ways, their ships are not nearly as customizable as the Federation ones.

* Even though this is supposed to be a Massively Multiplayer game, it feels more like a solo game that has some online components.

* Ship exploration is not fully implemented. Currently the bridge is the only "explorable" area of the ship.

* Leveling up can be confusing as skills are not fully explained and the immediate effects of powering up a skill are not always apparent.

* Warping though space is accomplished via "sector space" which just allows you to use impulse engines to fly to an object or sector marker. Then a quick warp animation loads the area.

* Sector space seems good and bad as long transit times are reduced but where is the detail/bonus speed in having a warp 9 capable ship versus a new starter max warp 2 ship?

I had waited for this game since Perpetual began developing it years ago. I think when Cryptic picked this game up, unfortunately it sealed Star Trek Online's fate.

Pros: 1.The ship combat isn't bad. Initially it is a lot of fun swapping out weapons and blowing up ships.

2.Decent amount of customization. This isn't that big of a selling point for me, but there are many uniforms and customizations available.

3.Some fun moments of homage to Star Trek nostalgia. City on the Edge of Never is arguably the highlight of the game. With the old enterprise and Nimoy's voice overs, it gives any old Trekkie a grin.

Cons: 1. Ground combat/content is terrible. Bridge officer AI is severely lacking. Combat is little more than repetitive button pushing until the enemy is all dead.

2. Space combat gets old. Eventually, much like ground combat, it becomes a flurry of pressing the space bar. (fire all weapons)

3. Almost no depth at all. No crafting, no diplomacy, no variety in missions. Missions come in about 4 or 5 different cookie cutter varieties, with exploration missions being a smaller version of the same content.

4. PvP system is sub par. PvP missions have no rhyme or reason as to when they start, rather than waiting until you have a semi-full group on either side before they begin.

5. Even less depth for Klingon players. At least 80% of this game's content (at present) is Federation only. Klingons are limited to PvP and a handfull of repeatable missions. Other factions completely unavailable at present.

6. Very few subscribers + Shard system = lonely sector space.

7. Still many bugs even months after release. Some of the bugs from open beta were fixed, but a surprising number still remain. Including missions not giving you credit when grouped. Forcing you to repeat missions, or do them all entirely solo.

8. Complete disregard to Star Trek canon. The universe they are proposing is completely combat driven. Inclusions of Star Trek references seem to be gratuitous and not thought out. No diplomacy, exploration isn't exploration, no research missions, no boldly going where no one has gone before. Just blow things up, and don't ask why.

9. Far too easy. Death rarely happens, and when it does it means a simple respawn. The missions and combat are so simple that the only challenge lies in PvP. Leveling is also a simple task, as we reached RA5 (maximum level at present) within the first month playing VERY casually.

In my opinion a few things happened to hinder this game. Cryptic took the engine used on another one of their disappointing MMO's (Champions Online) and rushed it into a Star Trek MMO. The game feels like it was flawed from concept, and then rushed to completion. Speculation is that Atari offered Cryptic a substantial bonus for initial sales on a time line, and Cryptic offered another sub-par product to achieve that goal.

My advice is to avoid this game. I really, really wanted to love this game...but simply couldn't get past its faults. If you are truly thirsting for a quality Sci-Fi MMO, look to EVE, look to Bioawre's upcoming Star Wars offering, but don't look to Cryptic to offer a quality product.

I originally wanted to get something to protect the carpet while sliding the unit in and out of the way, and I thought this would look cleaner than a Home Depot DIY special. I am really glad I purchased this, as it really is a high quality item (edge Stitched, embroidered, and rubberized bottom) Because the bottom is textured rubber I can't just pull the carpet to move the whole rig, but the clean look and the fact that it protects my Berber carpet from getting picked would cause me to buy it again.

Why did I give it 4 out of 5? It's not a required toy, more a nice to have. Quality and Value is 5 out of 5

Previous reviews indicated this mat slides on the bottom and not good for securing on hardwood. My order came and it's made to not slide at all. So apparently improvements were made.

In my case, I actually need it to slide on the bottom. It's on hardwood, but when not using it's placed on the side. When ready to put in use, I have to slide it in position. With non-slide bottom, the seat just slide off the mat. So I got four flat head (1" diameter) screws to secure the mat to the seat, and cover the flat head with round chair pads that can slide.

There are alternatives but they are usually not perfect fit or color matched. A good mat are not cheap either. So if you are buying a good mat, this is worth serious consideration.

Honest reviews on Playseat Floor Mat

I bought this mat because my Playseat Rig is in a room with a hardwood floor. I was a little apprehensive about purchasing the product because of it's price. The first thing I noticed when I unrolled the mat was that it was not cut straight it has more of a rhomboid shape rather than a rectangular shape. Other than that it does its job of damping sound and vibrations from the Playseat rig. It has the design of an oversized automotive floor mat which is quite nice and solidly put together; if only it weren't so poorly cut I might be able to make an argument for its price. If you are apprehensive because of the price, like I was, I suggest you pass on this product. A section of carpet or rubber mat will do the same job for a lot less.

As you may have read, the general consensus is that Yoshi's Story is a fine 2D platformer for children to play, but offers little challenge for the rest of the market. I strongly disagree with this.

I have been an avid gamesplayer for nigh on 11 years, from the NES (Famicom) right through to the N64. I own virtually every Mario/Yoshi title, and Yoshi's Story is my favourite to date.

True, if a player just plunders through the game, it can be finished within an hour, two at most. But dedicated gamers will find themselves caught in the real groove. The hook in this game is to NURUTRE your Yoshi.

Different fruits are favoured/disfavoured by each Yoshi. A casual gamer who just wants another straightforward platformer will find such mushy sentiment ludicrous and down as many of any kind of fruit possible to finish the game. However, a devoted gamer will discover the joy in sniffing out and hunting down their Yoshi's favourite fruit.

All Yoshi's love melons, and to find all 30 in one course, as well as the three hearts needed to unlock each world, AND to discover the secret White and Black Yoshis, PLUS killing every shyguy to make Yoshi's happiness quota higher, not to mention finding power bees, and collecting every coin from every course to unlock a rumoured 'hidden' Yoshi, is a gargantuan task indeed. Of course, there a those who just won't care about all this. But to those few dedicated gamers, who, like me, appreciate the subtler side of computer entertainment, I urge you, BUY THIS GAME!

FYI, I got to the end credits in an hour. A year on, I'm still looking for all the secrets. And this is a gamer whos finished each and every Zelda game (excluding Majora's Mask) within six weeks, tops.

the game has great graphics, and good gameplay, good characters, and great levels. But, this game is not quite for people 11 years old and up. The game is a great game for little kids, its one of those non-violent, friendly games. Even the boss, that thing could hardly scare anything. So, if you have little kids(3-8) buy the game for them, they'll love it, especially since its short and difficult looking, that way, when your kids finish the game, they'll think they can master anything! Plus, it has good kid music and friendly cute looking worlds, and all those cute yoshis make such cute noices. I bought the game being the "good nintendo fan", also, if you collect nintendo character games(mario, zelda, donkey kong, etc.) you can't miss this one.

Followed the installation instructions posted and managed to get the PC to recognize the device no problem. My wireless controller, however, will not stay connected and every 3 seconds disconnects, searches, then reconnects making any gameplay impossible. Reading up on this problem I found that it was either that the controller was faulty, my wireless keyboard/mouse were producing too much RF interference, or that the wireless receiver draws too much power from the USB port. I have no evidence that it is the controller, as it worked perfectly before my OEM receiver gave up the ghost, and my wireless keyboard and mouse were never an issue before either, so I figured it had to be the USB problem and followed the online advice in purchasing a self-powered USB hub. Of course, this didn't resolve the issue. Now I have the option of purchasing a new controller (perhaps the issue is because this receiver is black and my controller is white?), purchasing a wired mouse and keyboard (no), or breaking down and paying $60 for a whole new wireless controller for windows pack (which are becoming rare and more expensive). Well, wish I'd done that in the first place This item: $12, USB Hub: $30, time put into waiting and trying to make this work: 30+ days. My advice is to stay away I might be the rare exception with whom this device will just not work properly, but instead I suggest trying to fix the original one (plenty of tuts out there on bypassing the broken F1 fuse) or to instead just purchase the whole package over again. $12 isn't too bad to waste, but the time sunk into making it work could be super frustrating.

Ok, there are multiple reviews out there that are helpful. Here's what I did to get the receiver working (in Windows 7, 64-bit).

1. Right-click "Computer"

2. Click "Properties"

3. Click "Device Manager" (this will require an admin account/password)

4. Expand the "Other devices" selection

5. Right-click on "Unknown device"

6. Click "Update Driver Software"

7. Click "Browse my computer for driver software"

8. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

9. Click "Microsoft Common Controller For Windows Class" then Click "Next"

10. Click "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows" then Click "Next"

11. On the "Update Driver Warning" Click "Yes"

12. Celebrate because it's installed

Please Note:

If Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows does not exist in your options at step 10 then you'll need to download the newest drivers from windows. Go to microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows then select your operating system and Download "Xbox 360 Accessories Software ". This will give you an executable, run it and it will install the drivers you need to continue.

I bought this game used from Gamestop and I knew I wanted to play it since I played the demo on PS3. I have been a Top Gun fan for longer than I can remember, and have been a fan of the F-14 plane all my life. This is a fun little title that blends the action-oriented feel of Afterburner with the free-flight freedom of Ace Combat. This game is to air combat games, what Burnout is for racing games.

Gameplay:

The controls for this game are simple and intuitive; the emphasis of this game is on speed, and it pulls it off nicely. In most flight simulators, when you press "right" on the stick, the plane moves forward, and just turns sideways. In this game, when you press right, the plane rolls to the right and banks. Once you release the stick, the plane auto-levels with the horizon. This can take some getting used to if you play other flight simulators. If this is your first, it will feel comfortable and fun. The auto-leveling of the plane keeps you even with the ground, making it very hard to crash. I flew on full afterburner under a highway and breezed under it with ease. The afterburner in this game makes it fun to fly from one objective to the next, and this is where the game's sense of speed really shines.

The Hard Lock mode (Two words, not one as the product description reads) is very similar to the dogfight mode in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, where you follow your opponent very closely and pepper him with bullets until you can get a missile lock. A missile lock is acquired by keeping the opponent inside of a circle while the missile locks on. In Hard Lock mode, you must complete mini-games, moving the analog sticks in a motion indicated on the screen. During these mini-games, you and your opponent will perform various maneuvers, such as "Break right" "Loop the Loop" and "Split-S" among others. They're generally easy to pass, and the better you do on them (you are rated a percentage for each maneuver you perform) the larger your Hard Lock circle becomes, making it easier to acquire a target lock. Your Hard Lock can be reversed if you fail at one of the mini-games, at which point you need to frantically stay outside of your opponent's circle, and reverse the Hard Lock again.

Graphics:

Everything in the game looks pretty decent. There is a "film grain" filter on the graphics, which cannot be removed. I do not know if this was done deliberately to make the game feel more "80s" or "retro," or if it was done to compensate for the lack of graphics this game has. Either way, I like it, and I normally hate grainy filters on my games. The planes look like the iconic planes, and the game takes advantage of the "hard lock" mode to show off the visuals. There are various skins and decal sets to unlock for each plane. It may be important to note that there are no human models in this game. Everything is a vehicle or structure. While I don't have a problem with this, it is a noticeable absence, likely done to save time during development.

Sound:

One complaint from another customer who reviewed this game was the repetitive music. While I do agree the music can get repetitive, there are multiple tracks which I don't mind repeating, and on Xbox360, you can pump in your own soundtrack. That being said, the game's title screen does feature the Top Gun theme. Everything else sounds like knock-off versions of "Danger Zone." All-in-all, the sound is adequate, and does its job. The voice acting is bland and uninspired, but passable. One cool thing is that when you have your afterburners on long enough, your plane makes a sonic boom, and that is a nice touch that I see in few/no other games.

Overall:

Top Gun: Hard Lock is an overall solid title. It is made with a very arcade feel to it, rather than the simulation feel of other games. The big question is: is it worth the $40? The answer to that question, is "no." I love this game, and enjoy it, but I got it on sale from Gamestop when I had a coupon. There is no reason to buy this game new for $40 when Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is available for $25 and is a better game. Another big problem this game has, is that you have to buy the multiplayer separately. A budget title that requires you to pay for the multiplayer absolutely kills the multiplayer community, and it is extremely unlikely anyone actually paid for it. When the game drops to an ACTUAL budget price, of $20 or less, then it would definitely be worth the pickup. As it is right now, you're better off buying a different game.

Pros:

+It's got the Top Gun theme!

+Tight, responsive controls

+Excellent sense of speed

+Arcade feel blends Afterburner and Ace Combat into an exciting, free-roaming game.

Cons:

-Missions can run a little long

-Music can get repetitive

-Have to pay for multiplayer

-Better games are available for cheaper

-Limited selection of planes

Recreates the rush and speed of actiion from the movie of the same name. Good graphics. Plane profiles such as manuevering and speed are realistic within the platform. Multi-approach to advancement and points. Avoids dry military approach to training but avoids cartoony appearance that turns of gamers.

The first thing people do when they see this game is ask themselves why someone would choose to make a Top Gun game now. It's been 27 years since this movie came out. It's not like there's a remake being made,,,,,,,is there?

That's what this game is, though. It's a remake of Top Gun the movie in game form and I like it.

Despite being based on a blockbuster film that I happen to also like, this game is definitely a budget game. It shows in the dated graphics and terrible voice acting. Now, there is a weird film grain filter they chose to put on that you can't seem to remove. I guess they were trying to make the game look like a VHS tape or something and I kind of like that even though the game takes place in current times, but it makes the visuals look muddy. There is a cool effect when you break the sound barrier. There is a sonic boom and your guy says, "I feel the need. The need for speed," which I also like, but it IS cheesy and repetitive. The planes do look really good, though.

I find this game to be good ol' fashioned fun. The game doesn't take itself too seriously, and I like that. If you watch the Top Gun movie you do realize that it is rather cheesy and this game captures some of that cheese. That said, they don't use enough of the source material. I fully expected the title screen to be playing "Danger Zone," but I guess they couldn't afford to license it from Kenny Loggins. They play the "Top Gun Theme" a few times and that makes me happy, but it doesn't play often enough for me. I heard Maverick talk in the tutorial level and the guy they got sounded enough like Tom Cruise to make me happy.

Ok, Gameplay. This game seems to only have 2 maps. I haven't beaten it yet, so I don't know if more unlock, but I've gotten far into the story and I've only ever played on one map. They reuse the same rocky coast for 99% of the missions. That may be an exaggeration , but it certainly fells like it to me. The missions are fun, though, and they throw enough targets after you to keep it entertaining. The best part are the little quicktime events that you do when you get a "Hard Lock" on someone or they get one on you. It's a fun, in my opinion, series of maneuvers you must do in order to get a missile lock on some of the tougher enemies or break his lock on you. You have to quickly hit the two sticks in directions and they can get complex. I like that. It makes the dogfights more tense. The developers felt that the whole Hark Lock" system would sustain the whole game. I'm not so sure, though. I really enjoyed the game for a few days, but I started to get board with the monotonous missions and gameplay. I still really liked what I played. Unlocking planes and skins is fun. The "Hard Lock" stuff is also fun. It's just not enough to make the game more compelling.

I can't say I was surprised. I knew it was a budget title and I played the demo. I enjoyed the demo enough that I bought the game. I think that 505 Games did as good a job as they could with the Top Gun license. They obviously didn't have the time or money to make it too ambitious, but I like what's there even though I stopped playing it. I know that I can always play it again to have some fun.

The End.

Bought game on Xbox on demand. Asked for a pdf of the manual and here's what I was told:

"Unfortunately we do not provide any download links for manuals for digital copies of the game. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause."

They will take my money but god forbid I want to know how to play the game. This is my last purchase from this company.
