I have this unit and I like it. It holds my guitar, 3 controllers, my chat pad, all my games and my console. I have my wireless headset on the very top shelf so everything is in the same spot. It sits out next to the big screen in my living room so it looks neat and tidy when we have visitors. Yes, it is enclosed on the 2 sides, top and bottom but the back is out and thats where the fans are that bring air in to cool it. I have also purchased an intercooler for mine. Their are other reasons for the red rings as well not just over heating. Mine got the red rings with E74 error which is major hardware failure that Microsoft is aware of and repaired for no charge although my warranty had expired. My sons got the red rings and his console was sitting out and not enclosed in anything. I like this product. Well constructed, quality material. It's not shakey or top heavy. I recommend!

This shelf looks very nice, and can help organize your games and accessories, but placing your 360 console in this shelf is a VERY bad idea. The Xbox 360 has a tendency to over-heat, causing the infamous "red-ring of death" effectively destroying the console. It is advised that you always keep your 360 well ventilated in an open area to decrease the risk of overheating. In this shelf, the 360 is blocked on almost all sides greatly increasing the risk of overheat. I can't recommend this.

PopCap Games introduced the original ZUMA in 2003 and brought to the foreground a genre that was, up to then, oriented exclusively towards kids. ZUMA created a new school of games: from the excellent LUXOR Series to the recent INCA BALL, the playful BEETLE BOMP and (my favorite!) ATLANTIS: SKY PATROL: Zuma-clones came in all shapes and forms. Some introduced new ideas and some of them improved the original concept. And the new ZUMA has incorporated most of them.

If you have already enjoyed the original game, let me tell you what is new. First off, yes, the graphics and sounds are much improved. Also, your frog does not have to simply rotate all the time. As with LUXOR, in some stages you can slide across a predefined path (not always horizontal) whereas, in others, you can hop between multiple Lily Pads.

Moreover, there are now three new special abilities: the Laser beam, the Lightening and the TriShot. With the Laser you can target specific balls (advisable to aim at the bonuses!); the Lightening will remove all balls of the same color as the one you targeted; and with the TriShot, well, it is pretty much self-explanatory: you fire off three metal canon-balls that wipe out everything in their path.

Finally, every 10 stages there are now bosses you cannot harm until their henchmen get smashed (an idea from ATLANTIS: SKY PATROL) or their specific weakness is figured out and of course you will be fighting the color-stream at the same time.

If you are not familiar with the game this is the gist of it: a series of colored balls (with the number of different colors increasing every few levels) streams in and you have to shot and match them in sets of three or more in order to remove them and prevent them from reaching the end zone. There are now numerous different modes (ADVENTURE, various CHALLENGES, IRON FROG) and all are exceptional addictive!! So take care not to have any deadlines or immovable obligations looming!

This is a perfect example of what has come to be known as Casual Gaming. It would be a good idea to download the limited-time free trial version from a casual gaming site (such as POPCAP GAMES or REFLEXIVE you can Google them) and decide for yourself whether this is indeed your cup of tea. It comes to about 100MB so a fast connection will be needed for that.

Everybody can make a good game that will run only on a super-computer. This is an example of pure programming genius!

Oh the hours I played the original version of Zuma! I could have been working on more intellectual pursuits, but no I was addicted to Zuma. But then after much time had passed it lost it's appeal from over-use and slipped into the background, once again I had time for all the old hobbies that I had loved. I only played occasionallyand I was in control. Things were good.

Then, Zuma's Revenge came out. My husband brought it to my attention. I tried to seem disinterested. But we ended up buying less than a week later. When it arrived I tried to be coy. I didn't even look at the box, and gave it to my husband to load on his computer and play.

The familiar Zuma sounds, mixed with new ones kept seeping into my ears... The new graphics... they seemed intriguing. And new levels... and sort of a story line... and new types of 'power' balls... It was too much for me. I loaded it and began playing. That old familiar feeling was back again, compelling me to play for hours on end until my eyes dry out from staring at the colored balls.

Game play is similar to the old version, the idea is hitting colored balls to make matches and eliminate them before your time runs out. But this version has new levels and new configurationsin several you can hop your zuma frog to a new lily pad or in some he slides along a track at the bottom. I also appreciated the Tiki area where you can see your stats for game play. For someone like me who fancies herself a champion Zuma player, it's cool to have the data although I miss the old version where you could see if you had beaten your top score and it also let you see other user's scores if they happened to be higher than yours on each level.

I also liked the new way they configured the challenge area, and the extra iron frog challenge is nice.

I'd say it's worth the 19.99, but you can download a free trial at if you still aren't sure.

I hate it when I purchase a game and have it beat in two weeks. This game keeps the challenge up. And, I love the fact that it has "adventure" mode and "challenge" mode. When the adventure gets too tough, you can play in challenge mode for a while and challenge your own score. I still haven't beat the game, but it's not frustrating me, it's keeping the game fun. Really am enjoying it.

I bought Zuma Deluxe thought that was awsome it was. Then Zuma Revenge came out. I can not stop playing it. Need to master all of the levels. The sound effects and the visual effects of this game is awsome. I would recommed this game to everyone. This game is for every age group even my young grandson and great niece and nephews love to play you can start at the easy levels and work your way to the more difficult levels. It is hard to stop playing this game. LOVE IT

2-port AC Adapter Power Supply Convert Cable (Black) Review

I bought a pair of these to add on to the two old XBOX 360 power supplies I had laying around. I wanted to be able to move my new slim from TV to TV like i use to with my old white xbox. After I first installed them the Xbox power supply, did not power on at all and I thought maybe the negative reviews were correct. After messing with them a little bit I realized that they were not fully pressed onto the old power supply. You need to use a decent amount of force to get them on and they will click when they are full inserted. After they were put on correctly they have worked great. I have them on the original large power supply and the smaller power supply they were using before the slim came out, they both work perfectly. Hope this helps someone as I was some what worried about them with all the negative reviews.

Ok, so I bought a 360 slim, got it home, hooked it up... the system itself is super silent, you can only hear it from like a foot away... The power brick however... well you know what that sounds like or you wouldn't be reading this right now. lol It seems odd that Microsoft designed a silent system with a noise maker power brick attached to it. Anyways, I just want you to know that I don't think I have ever written a review about anything before and actually turned on the computer just to write this because this adapter is amazing! I seriously can't hear a thing! (using in conjunction with the Jasper 150w power brick) I didn't have the TV turned on when i first powered it up for the first time with the old silent adapter and the thing was so quiet I thought I broke the system because I didn't hear anything... To my astonishment its actually that quiet... Lets see... I could compare the quietness to an iPod when you turn it on... seriously quiet... actually you wouldn't even know it was on if the TV wasn't on. The power brick that came with the slim was a "rev B" (can be found 3rd line down in the text on the back of the power brick, Rev B is known for their noise) Brick that came with system = 8/10 for noise ... Old power brick and adapter 0.01/10 for noise. Total night and day difference. Ok, now I'm actually going to go play a game now where I don't have to drown out the power brick with the volume. Review 10/10.

I had a first gen XBox 360 up until about 2 weeks ago, when it finally died on me. I had used a repair it yourself kit to buy me an extra few weeks, but ultimately the RROD claimed another victim.

When I got my nex XBox 360 4th Slim, I was disheartened to find out that the power adapters were incompatible. I have two gaming stations set up in my house, so I can watch Netflix or game wherever I want. I didn't want to buy another brick power supply, so I got this instead.

It has worked for two weeks now, flawlessly and on the first try. It was a great deal. It is unfortunate that the other reviewer had a bad experience, because I haven't. I don't usually write reviews, but I was so impressed by this little number that I felt I should add my 2 cents. It's worth the five bucks.

In the end, I fixed my 360's red ring problem with 2 things the opening tool in this kit and the cleaner/thermal paste. I didn't bother with a different clamp or pads for the RAM, and it's been working fine. I guess what would be useful is is a cheaper kit with just those essentials but I can't complain too much. One thing the included slip of paper with a web address for a manual didn't work and I had to find it via Google.

I used this kit to repair my original xbox 360 worked like a charm. I didn't think the process was that hard but this is not for everyone be sure you are comfortable before attempting this. The hardest thing was getting the old thermal paste off the components.

The Tiger Woods PGA Tour series has been solid if unspectacular this generation carrying with it somewhat limited appeal. Hampered by a heavy reliance on downloadable content the justification to purchase yearly has waned considerably.

That won't necessarily change with Tiger Woods 14. People who play yearly may not find as much value as novices. However for those who have skipped recent versions or who would be new to the series it can be easily recommended.

While Tiger Woods 12 had the compelling draw of The Masters for the first time, and Tiger 13 attempted to create a new experience with the Legacy Challenge, it would take travelling many years farther in the past to find a golf game that captured my attention in the way that Tiger 14 has. Any assumption that a gimmicky element would be needed to create interest has been proven wrong by a product that simply delivers realistic and satisfying gameplay as accompanied by a rich and involving feature set. Feel free to check out a few gameplay videos (Career, Legends of the Majors, Live Tournament) on the Pastapadre Youtube Channel.

One very successful element introduced in Tiger 14 is the "Swing Style" feature which gives each current golfer a more personalized feel along with the ability to craft a swing style when creating new golfers. Now each individual is classified in the following categories: Type (Power or Control), Shape (Draw or Fade), Trajectory (Low, Medium, or High), and Handedness (Left or Right). The tutorial helps in getting a feel for some of the differences and the selection screen explains the choices. They can be changed later if so desired. Draws and fades are manageable this year but it can still be difficult to nail that stick movement.

Legends of the Majors is the flashy new mode for this year. It involves playing through events from history within the confines of the time they took place. That means playing with the legends, old course designs, and equipment. The visual filter defines those time periods but feels out of place in a sense given the experience is otherwise all from the golfer's perspective.

Some of the challenges are fairly easy like re-creating a shot, while others take more work such as matching a performance over several holes or a round. Whether they are overly frustrating or just tough remains to be determined. There are 62 challenges overall and most are worthwhile but there are some that clearly could have been omitted. Why am I being asked to play in 1922 as Rory McIlroy against Keegan Bradley? Legends of the Majors is a decent distraction and going through the history of the sport is a valuable journey but it's not something that will hold much value outside of the initial play through.

The Live Tournaments online have been enhanced by adding more of the social element that had been lacking last year. There is of course still the traditional ways to play online but the Tournaments now offer the ability to see the shot arcs for up to an active 24 players on a hole and include group voice chat. I have no expectation of ever winning a public tournament, and that can still be discouraging in a sense, but setting them up with Clubs or friends makes for a fun experience regardless of performance level. Country Clubs have been expanded to 100 members and that too now features chat functionality.

Other additions of note are the LPGA tour, "Simulation" difficulty, and varied tee times that include night golf. Playing in nighttime conditions is more than just the darkness as the sound effects from the environment like the chirping birds are gone. It just has a new feel to it like playing on the historic courses provides in Legends of the Majors. EA probably should have taken sunglasses off golfers who wear them though when it turns dark out. I would not be the right person to assess the "Simulation" setting but from all other accounts it appears to provide the experience very talented players have been looking for.

Presentation would appear to be the weakness of Tiger 14. The commentary is bland, overly generic, and occasionally incorrect. The camera angles range from satisfactory to downright horrible. Quite often after taking a shot particularly when putting it immediately cuts to a camera angle that makes it impossible to actually tell what is happening. They may be meant to enhance the drama but all they do is remove oneself from the moment. The on-screen informational displays do well to communicate information with the leaderboard, scorecards, and Country Club stats but others seem pretty pointless especially when the statistical leaders for a category are all the people who have yet to tee off.

Last year's method of being able to earn DLC courses through time spent playing has been removed due to heavy criticism and problems with the implementation on the PS3. Though not necessarily the wrong decision EA should have provided some alternate method that worked instead of falling back on the old way of doing things where the only way to obtain them is by spending significant chunks of money.

While the enjoyment being had with Tiger 14 may be partially attributed to having not invested much time with the series over the course of the generation and particularly last year which just fell flat and was pushed aside quickly it can't be discounted due to just that. The addictive nature of the gameplay and strong depth of content could be realized by many. Tiger 14′s additions and improvements have the merit to be appreciated by the both the hardcore and more casual crowds and that is a balance that has been tough to come by in the past.

I have bought every edition of this game since its initial release, but after last year's disappointing edition, I almost stopped. I'm glad I didn't though, because this year's version is simply awesome. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: 1) It is much harder and more technical than previous years, with little-to-no explanation--even if you do all the tutorials all the way through. I had to look online to figure a lot of stuff out. 2) In order to play a full PGA season, you have to purchase something like 8 additional courses online, which is like another $30. That's ridiculous. Screw you, EA.

I'm glad this year's Tiger game is moving away from the golfer himself, and not because of his image. Last year's Tiger Legacy mode faltered, so in its place Tiger 14 offers the Legends of the Majors mode that lets you play through the history of the sport itself instead of just Tiger's career. It's an effective approach, especially when coupled with a few small changes that tighten the overall experience.

I'm not a golf history buff, but Legends of the Majors mode is a fun way to earn coins that incorporates your Career mode golfer by having them face off against the sport's greats at certain intervals. The mode also uses era-specific equipment, which isn't as interesting.

This year the all-important coins, which are used to buy stat-boosting pins, are more useful since you can spend them to level up your golfer. Levels grant you attribute points and equipment for a lot less than it takes to buy a pin pack.

The expansion of the online options gives you more ways to earn coins. The Country Clubs format lets you take in more players, who can contribute to the club's status in more ways (including a variety of tourneys and leaderboards). The clubs also feature expanded voice chat, and a new Club Loyalty Bonus that gives you coins for members playing every day.

The action on the course remains largely the same from last year, except for the new swing arcs. Like changing your club tuning, fiddling with your swing arc has its advantages. This lets you change the flight characteristics of your ball, including your power, control, and how the wind affects your shot.

Even though Tiger 14 has a similar setup as Tiger 13, I had more fun with the newer game because its constituent parts mesh better. For a golfer, getting everything in synch is important.

The Edge

Like last year, if you absolutely have to have motion controls, I suggest you go with the Move. Putting in particular is harder with the Move, but it's also more accurate in general over Xbox 360's Kinect. The Kinect motion controls are dumbed down to the point where the game does a lot of the work for you. For instance, a half swing on the Kinect will often be read as a full-powered shot. This defeats the purpose of using motion controls for a more lifelike feel.

I have liked the EA Sports Tiger Woods PGA Tour, and purchased regularly... however, this is not a good version, particularly for full price. The game regularly will freeze in transitions between holes. For me the last two times were in a daily tournament event once at hole 17 and once in a playoff right after the 18th hole. You lose anything you've used and all your experience. Very frustrating. The graphics are pretty nice, but it's not worth the aggravation. Extremely disappointed. Others report the same issue. Beware and skip this year's version.

MLB 2K13 review

I have played the game for a bit now and to me one of the biggest weaknesses of the game is the graphics. The players just dont look as nice as others in the sport videao game arena. Although they have made some improvements from the previous years MLB games the graphics still look poorly done and could use some work. The modeling of the players seems out of place to the rest of the game. For the most part, the gameplay is pretty good, pitching and fielding work smoothly and seem to perform the way it should. The weakness seem to be in how the ball performs when it is hit. It doesnt appear to be rendered accurately at times.

MLB 2K13 really seems add very little over MLB 2K12 and doesnt really make you think there is something reinvented here. There really arent any major difference besides the roster updates and improving the functionality of some of the gameplay.

Maybe for those that are hardcore MLB2K fans, there is something for you but for 60 bucks just for some minor upgrades, I am not so sure. Is it worth shelling 60 bucks to get the latest version.... well not unless you just have to have the latest version.

NBA 2K13 review

Hardcore hoops fans and anyone else who even casually picks up the odd sports game should play NBA 2K13. This version continues to keep the bar high, enhancing the realism of and adding a superb new control scheme to this excellent recreation of pro basketball. Pace, graphics, animations, sound effects, and commentary are all so dead on that you feel like you've walked onto the court at Staples Center or Madison Square Garden. Only a few issues with the interface and the absence of controller tutorials, along with ridiculously overblown production values from Jay Z, get between you and the full appreciation of what looks, sounds, and feels like the real thing.

The good stuff:

Enhanced realism and a great new control setup make NBA 2K13 a fantastic recreation of pro hoops.

Excellent game flow emulates the real thing

New right-stick controls make slick moves easy to pull off

Signature skills enhance player depth

TV-realistic graphics and animations

I got this because it was a good price but I really enjoy playing NBA. That may be the best made sports game overall out of any: Madden, NCAA, the Show, etc. The only problem is the amount of JayZ's noise that he calls music. It gets annoying after awhile. The presentation is really great. MLB is not quite as good but is a fun baseball game to play.

I had never played a WORMS game before purchasing WORMS 3D for PS2. I have to say I was impressed by how much fun I had. It took a while to get used to the controls, but the tutorial helped quite a bit. This is a great new game for only $29.99.

You get to go through different environments where your army of worms battles another army of worms utilizing weapons and skillful maneuvering. One of my favorite things about the game is when you fire a weapon, the environment will change due to the incurred damage from your weapons. This makes it more challenging and makes you think before you make a move... especially in multiplayer mode. And yes, you have to share a controller in multiplayer mode... big deal, it doesn't take away from the fact that the game is fun.

The worms are also pretty comical, their accents crack me up.

For less than $30... how can you pass it up? It's well worth the money, much better than paying $50.00 on other games... give it a try, it'll be worth it.

I first played Worms on my PC back in 96-97. I played it for hours with my friends. The 2D world was simple and easy to understand. The third dimension just added a lot of ambiguity to the game play. It's near impossible to use the wind to your advantage in 3D and the camera angles make aiming for opponents you cannot see very hard. Some people may enjoy this game, but I don't think anyone who loved the original 2D version will like this at all.

Four years after playing at WORMS 2 for the first time, I could not believe it when I first heard about the 3D version of one of my favorite game. When I opened the box and put it in my PS2 and played, I re-lived the same exciting feelings of fun that had hit me when I discovered the previous version. For somedy who already played, five minutes will be enough to get going, for newcomers, it might be good to do the training missions and play versus yourself a little bit before going to harder missions like 'Challenges' or 'CPUvsHUMAN'. The adaptation to the console is perfect even for the cameras wich you cannot play without and the 3D effect is very good for something so fast paced. Finally, when they right 'There are thousands and thousands of landscapes possible' they really mean it. You can be anuywhere in any kind of field and scenery. Of course, you are always surrounded by water and death by drowning is very frequent. If you never played buy it, if you played prior versions, buy it anyway.

The basic premise of Lethal Enforcers is that you are a police officer whose task is to eliminate terrorists by means of shooting to save the city. The controls work surprisingly well and are never a hassle. This game is a lot of fun of multiplayer or singe-player. It has a high replay value as well because of its wonderful arcade-style shooting. You shoot bad guys you get points or even new weapons, you shoot an innocent person and you lose a life. This game tests your reflexes and how well you pay attention to who you shoot. The graphics look great and the framerate is smooth. There is also the ability to shoot out windows which provides even more fun. This game is not without flaws though. When you play in multiplayer mode sometimes you can get confused as to whose reticle is whose or who is shooting what, and the game does dock points for missing enemies. If you love arcade shooters this game is definite must-have for you.

Ok, I know I'm a little old to be playing this, but at 65 and all that is going on this country let alone the world, I can honestly say it is a great escape. It's simple, cute, fun, and creative. I have been a gaming grandma since 1981 when I was introduced to a computer game called Zork created at MIT, I believe. That game got me hooked on computers and games in general and since then with the birth of 4 grandchildren that I could introduce games too, it's been quite a ride. When I first played Animal Crossing "Wild World" I got hooked. I'm not a "shoot 'em up" gamer. I like adventure games and this game offers me that playful time of creating a town, meeting nice critters, build houses, bank "bells", and just have a fun moment where the arthritis doesn't hurt, the world is a better place and I can just be retired. As for children playing this game, they will come to understand that work has it's rewards, paying your bills brings you a better house, gardening makes your world prettier, sharing your finds with the museum in town is community service. It's just an all around feel good game for all ages. Another little caveat is I am playing it on my new 3D DS. Enjoy!!!

I was a huge Animal Crossing fan on the GameCube back in high school. So much so that I would wake up two to three hours early some days so I could play some before I had to catch the bus. I don't know what it was exactly that sold me so hard, but when I think of my most fond gaming memories from back then, Animal Crossing is top of the list. My siblings and I used to FIGHT over who's turn it was to play.

There have been several times were I went back, picked up my old copy, and tried to play again. Only to end up doing the turnip cheat, or time shifting like crazy and just pretty much picking weeds for the majority of my play time. I often found myself saying "what was it I loved so much after all?" and it was never quite the same. I tried Wild World, and never really could get into it, never tried the original DS version.

I was so excited for New Leaf this time LAST June that I pre-ordered it right away. I got absurdly lucky and got my copy 4 days early this year.. And I wanted to write a review on it 5 hours into playing, I loved it that much. In case there was someone out there going "oh, I loved the original but is it worth it?" YES. YES and YES.

I love this game. I cannot find one thing I do not like. It is absolutely charming. The graphics are adorable. They play true to the Animal Crossing feeling, and in my opinion look far better than Wild World did on my flat screen on the screen of my Pikachu 3DS XL. The level of customization is FAR superior than that to original Animal Crossing. I especially like being able to change the color of furniture. I love the wigs, the endless outfit options, changing your hair.. I feel like Nintendo really paid attention to all the little things that were wrong with the older games and fixed it.

This game is wonderful. I would buy every Animal Crossing fan out there a copy if I could afford it. I have so many happy memories and smiles playing this game it's actually kind of silly. I love the cheesey little lines when you catch a bug or a fish. The diving system is neat. There's even a great way to make a lot of bells without having to time shift like crazy and spend hours picking weeds.

Pros: Incredibly customizable, adorable, plesant background music, a nice change of pace getting to be The Mayor for once!, you get to pick your town layout, all the shops are together on Main Street (aside from Re-Tail, which is also fantastic Flea Market feature), AND SO MUCH MORE.

Cons: Pockets too small. But they always are. I want bottomless pockets, who doesn't? :P

Let it be known that between RPG grind-fests, oddball art games and the latest AAA titles, I enjoy an unhealthy amount of "Animal Crossing." The last portable incarnation, "Wild World", easily received hundreds of hours of my attention, and despite its myriad of problems, it remains one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had. But in 2013, many of the clunky interface issues and limited span of things to do simply will not fly in a modern game. That's why I'm greatly overjoyed that Nintendo has definitely improved the AC mechanics in as many ways possible without changing the core experience here. Make no mistake, "Animal Crossing: New Leaf" is more of the same, but delivered in the best possible way.

There's not much by way of "story" here, as expected. Your custom character arrives at your custom town (the layout of which you can select at the beginning of the game) to discover that he/she is now the mayor of the town. After a brief rundown of basic game mechanics with your perky (read: adorable) secretary Isabelle, you're set loose in a town filled with talking, anthropomorphic animals. Over the course of real-world years, you're expected to expand local businesses, improve local agriculture, and turn your home into a sprawling mansion filled with rare items.

If you've played an AC game, you know the drill. The conniving Tom Nook screws you over (he does it worse than ever here, but I won't spoil) at the beginning of the game, you pay off your debt to him, your house gets upgraded, rinse, repeat. All the while, you make friends, fish, water plants, hunt bugs and dig up fossils that can sold or donated to the museum. This time around, though, there's a flea market where you can set prices for items, and buy stuff from other townsfolk. The addition of the store adds an interesting element to the game, as you find yourself going back and forth between stores, seeing where you'll get the better deals. It's a nifty little mechanic that adds a new level of depth to the game.

While this does seem like an old hat of a game on paper, it's all about the execution, which is where "New Leaf" truly excels. The controls are tighter than they've ever been, thanks to a completely retooled interface. Gone are the days of having to go into menus to dig out equipment; switching between nets, shovels, watering cans, etc, is now allocated to the D-Pad, making it much more convenient to do what you want, when you want to do it. Also welcome are little graphical changes, such as shimmering flowers to indicate you've watered them for the day, and birds that perch atop bulletin boards to indicate a new message. Little things like this help make the game more streamlined.

Another great thing about the game are the enhanced internet capabilities. Visiting your friends' towns is back, of course, but the biggest draw here is the ability to mingle with players from around the world on a tropical island. You can see what their towns look like, among other things, which is a first for the franchise. Then there's the "Dream Suite", which lets you upload a "dream" of your town to the internet for other players to explore, and the Happy Home Showcase, which lets you see the homes of other players you've met via StreetPass. This is the most online entry in the franchise yet, and it's nice to see in Nintendo embracing internet play finally; it definitely bodes well for the upcoming "Smash Bros", after "Brawl" had such an abysmal online mode.

This is also the best-looking AC yet, with beautiful textures that easily trump "City Folk". Water glistens and fluidly moves, characters have elaborate and varied animations, and every detail of the landscape is rendered with beautiful clarity. 3D helps to add an extra level of depth to the game, but other than that, it's actually one of the most unremarkable usages of the feature I've seen in a first-party 3DS title. On the audio front, we have an incredibly safe soundtrack. It's pretty and relaxing, and one of the best in the series, but it's definitely very similar to other entries, and it doesn't rock the boat in too many ways. In my opinion, it didn't need to, but a little more variety would have been nice.

Nintendo has easily made the best "Animal Crossing" game yet here. There's more to do in this than in any previous entry, the controls are pitch-perfect, and the entire experience is absolutely beautiful, especially considering that it's a handheld title. That being said, not much has changed in the core gameplay and sound department, and while that won't bother the fanbase (myself included), it makes me start to wonder how long the venerable developer can keep doing the same thing repeatedly until it starts to get old. Until then, though, "New Leaf" is a really fun little game, and one that I expect to hold me over for not months, but years to come.

Update (6/11/13): Because of the nature of this game, I'll throw up a new update every now and again if something of note pops up. Today, my game introduced the feature of public works projects and ordinances. The former allows you take requests to alter your town, then gather donations in order to complete them, and the latter lets you change the times of local stores to suit your playing time better. Also more fleshed-out is the island, at which you can eventually unlock a wetsuit that allows you to swim around (a series first.) I stand by my original score, but this is a most impressive development, and without a doubt makes it the best and most varied "Animal Crossing" yet.

Update (7/7/13): It's been about a month, and things have gotten pretty interesting! A dance club opened up in town, payments for getting a house have steeply increased, and there are still new tools to unlock and creatures to catch. The added variety of deep-sea diving definitely helps. Furthermore, the adorable Isabelle gets a much more defined personality, as does Sable, who works at the clothing store. If you build your relationship with the latter, you'll unlock the ability to get new patterns via QR codes scanned in via 3DS Camera. Not only that, but you'll get cool backstory about the Able Sisters, which ties into past games. Still a solid 8.75 in my book!

Coming from Tumblr I can say that everyone was in an uproar over this game and I didn't realize how exciting it was until I started reading the thoughts of others. Now that I own it, I can say this is by far the best AC installment yet.

Gameplay: 9/10. Of course, everything in this game is starting out very slooooooowly. You only have a few basic stores and ways of making money. That said, it is very easy to pay off your first two loans and unlock the island, which surely means Bells will come more easily. I would suggest looking into getting the guide or borrowing it from a friend who owns it, because I believe there are more things with unlocking requirements in this version than any in the past. Plus, there are new villagers and items, and who wouldn't want to have a book full of every last one? :)

**IMPORTANT EDIT: I recommend AGAINST buying the Prima Offical (aka only English) guide out right now. I have purchased it, and as many others would say, it's full of incorrect nonsense. You would be better off purchasing the Japanese one, which has great reviews from its English owners.

Graphics: 10/10. They really outdid themselves with this one. The water looks absolutely stunning, I have to say, as they've added what appears to be a very shiny, glossy texture to it, so it looks very real. The trees and grass have very natural fading, the houses are unique and cute with their little chimneys, and all the animals appear to have a furry texture that seems to be new to ACNL. They've changed the sizes of the animals and the main character, too, making them more realistic and charming.

New features: Not sure if you knew this, but the features on this game far surpass every single predecessor by a landslide. The island is a stellar addition that earns high marks, even standing alone. There are new trees, fruits, and games to play here, a handful of which I've tried, and they're very fun.

Some of my favorite smaller features in this game are the wetsuit/swimming, building your own bridges and cute pieces in your town, the ability to change your shoes, pants and even socks, and the fortune cookies which are just plain adorable.

This is the kind of game that you want to play simply for how cute it is, and it's worth it all the way. Absolutely get it.

EDIT: ** Is anyone else having an issue with the Dream Suite? It's not an important factor for me, but... myself and some friends I know can't seem to connect to the "random" dream town feature. It keeps telling me that I have an unstable internet connection, which isn't the case.

This game is an excellent addition to the animal crossing series! There are lots of brand new items, including pants, and skirts. I'm really glad that I can wear pants or shorts, as I couldn't in the past games when I was playing as a girl. I really love that the animals are to scale with the human player, and that you can take screenshots and upload them to the internet from you 3ds. I'm very excited to begin building my town renovation projects, especially the café and dream suite.

An aux cable is a total must if you have an ipod and a compatible car stereo. My friends all had regular cables that were always in the way or getting tangled.

This cable is very convenient because it is only as long as you need it to be. At first I was worried that it might not stay the length that I chose (since the cord is retractable) but the ipod is enough weight to keep the cord extended.

Unlike other aux cables, this cord is only about as thick as standard headphone cords. This hasn't presented a problem for me yet.

The only issue that I have had with it is that it is so small that I have almost lost it a few times in my car. Now it has a special spot that it stays when not in use.

UPDATE: Sometimes I have trouble getting the end to my ipod connected all the way, so it just takes an extra second to make sure that you're fully connected (or else you're only getting one speaker, so to say).

UPDATED UPDATE: After using these for over 2 years, I will change my review from 5 to 4 stars. I've had to purchase 3 of these in two years, which isn't exactly a burden with how little they cost, but it is a testament to their durability. It's also a little annoying to wait for shipping. Every six months or so these little guys get worn out enough that they short and the cables need to be replaced. Last time I needed a new aux cable right away I just bought one in stores, and bucked up for one of the thicker, flat cords, with sturdier connections, which I imagine will give me better longevity. I used these cords for both ipods and android phones, though.

The Legend of Zelda™: The Wind Waker (HD Deluxe Set) Review

First, Amazon is not a direct seller of Nintendo Wii U and, I believe, most of Nintendo's hardware. This is why you see such a markup because it is being sold by a third party.

Second, As of today the Wii U deluxe Bundle has dropped to 299.99. Do not buy it for more.

Third, even though this is a Limited Edition Bundle I had no trouble getting mine today without pre-ordering it. Do some shopping around friends. If all else fails you can probably still find the original deluxe bundle for the same 299.99 price.

Just received my Wii U today. I spent many great hours playing games with my friends at home and hope to do the same with the Wii U. Bought this because of the price drop, now just have to wait for my favorite Nintendo games to be released in the upcoming months. Great bundle, great price. As said above, shop around! Don't waste your money, friends.

For me the Wii has always been a group play system. Very friendly console for get togethers and families.

So, first off, I want to tell you a bit about why I got the Wii-U. I looked into the Wii-U beforehand, I knew exactly what I was getting in comparison to Xbox-One and the PS4. Currently I own a PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360. I don't play any of those anymore, I have a gaming computer. In fact, my gaming computer outclasses the Xbox-One and the PS4. I should also mention that I was never exactly taken with the Wii's style of gameplay, in fact it was more of a turn-off for me. Still, I am a die-hard Zelda fan, and I have played every Zelda up until now (excluding Zelda and Zelda II ... Still wanna play those btw.). So, when I heard about the Zelda Windwaker bundle, and the fact that nintendo was going to have a lot of 1st party releases soon, I decided to get the bundle and give the Wii-U a shot.

Now, when I got my Wii-U, first thing I did was I took out my zelda controller and admired it. It looks epic, there's zelda symbols all around it creating a gold trim, my inner zelda fanboy was going wild.

Here's the low part of my review, whenever you are setting up your Wii-U, it makes you use the controller to set it up. This was a bit of a pain, but it wasn't too bad. I just had to go through a lot, including setting up a nintendo account to get access to the online Zelda Windwaker content. I can understand why they want you to do that, but really I just wanted to jump right in. Instead I was stuck waiting for about an hour for the Windwaker to download :(.

So, fast forward an hour and I am about to play the Windwaker in HD. At this point, I am thinking to myself that this controller is going to ruin everything. It was heavier than a normal controller, it was bulky, and I wasn't too taken with the screen. To be honest though, now I kind of like it. The controller isn't really distracting during gameplay, and it is convenient to have a map and an inventory you can quickly access on your controller. The only real complaint I have about it now is the way the buttons are set up. For me, the fact that the "R" button is way on top of the controller is completely counter-intuitive. For a while I was mistaking the "ZR" button for the "R" button and it kept messing me up. At one point it almost killed me in the game. Still, this is just something to expect with a new controller, at this point I have gotten used to it. Now the controller, even though it is still a bit heavy, reminds me of a gamecube controller with the way the buttons are laid out.

For the system I don't have any complaints at all. A few things took me by suprise, like when I explored the "chat" app and looked down to see my face on the wii-u controller. The hardware seems to work quickly though. I haven't had any issues with load screens, the graphics look FREAKING AMAZING, and everything in the game flows very smoothly. Must say I am enjoying this new, better looking Windwaker.

As for the Windwaker itself, nothing has really changed. Just better graphics and some new stuff. I have noticed that the boat is a bit different, it keeps messing me up when I look for treasure. Also I have gotten the bombs and it looks like they have a new system for aiming. For new players, that's a good thing, for me, it's a bad thing, because I learned how to aim with the old system really well. It just keeps messing me up, it's hard to tell if it's the projections that are throwing me off or if the cannon moves faster. I might just be getting distracted by the projections is all :P.

So, in short, is this system worth it?

I can't tell you that, it depends on your situation. I don't know how the Xbox-One is, or the PS4 for that matter, and I don't plan on getting either of them. I might get the PS4 though if the price drops and Kingdom Hearts 3 is out on it :D.

What I can tell you though is this, even though the Wii-U's specs might not be on par with the Xbox-One or PS4, it still plays games very well and in HD. I don't know what Nintendo does, but for some reason a lot of their games come out looking amazing anyways, even without HD (i.e. Twilight Princess). If its graphics you are after, the Wii-U might be a step below the competition, but by no means are they bad.

Another thing I feel I should mention before anyone writes the Wii-U off for its poor specs in comparison to other gaming machines is that, as mentioned before I have a gaming computer. My current gaming computer outclasses the Xbox-One and the PS4. I have no game I cannot play in maximum graphics and I have never had a game mess up on my computer. I have to tell you this, graphics don't really mean much. If the gameplay sucks, then I just tend to give up on the game. One thing I can say about Nintendo is that they always tend to have good games to play. Sometimes it can get a bit redundant, for instance, in Zelda it's always "Go to these temples, get these 3 stones, get the awesome sword, power up the sword, and go save the princess!". That can get old, but the one thing that keeps bringing me back to Zelda games is the feeling I get when exploring a new dungeon or adventuring. I love solving the puzzles in Zelda, it always makes me so happy when I get through the frustration. I do hate it though when it's something simple you wouldn't think of, then you have to refer to a guide (a.k.a. wind temple, getting the short violin guy). Look, my point is, it's not all about the story, it's not all about the graphics, gameplay is probably the most important thing when it comes to hunting new games. It's for that reason I got the Wii-U.

So, if you've actually read all of my review, well done sir, and I hope it somehow helps you out in any troubles that you have. Best of luck.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this. Don't buy the Wii-U here. It's overpriced, go somewhere else.

2nd Edit: Okay, so I have to add this. Earlier while I was playing my Wii-U, my roomates came back to our apartment. I already knew that using the Wii-U controller, you could watch TV while waiting for a download. What I did not know though was that if you keep the Wii-U on and use the controller, you can actually play games on the controller while watching TV. Earlier I was playing Windwaker on the gamepad while my roomates were watching football, I was able to hang out with them and still play Zelda! Then I turned it off whenever Breaking Bad started. :D. I just wanted to share that too, I didn't know about that feature until tonight.

The review: This is a great set. You get the new Zelda game in HD 2 weeks before hard copy comes out. Yes, you have to download it, but thats ok with me. The game pad is cool looking, and seems very sturdy to handle. Plus its the same price as the regular deluxe edition with more bonus! The HC Zelda book is an awesome bonus for fans as well.

Upon hearing that Wind Waker would be released in HD for the Wii U, I knew immediately that I would be purchasing a Wii U at some point, and with Nintendo releasing it as a Wii U Bundle, what better time to get it than now? Well, they really sucked me in on this one!

The system itself is very sleek. With this bundle you are getting the 32GB Wii U hard drive coming in the color black. One of the main features of this system is of course, the gamepad, which with this bundle, comes with a Legend of Zelda themed controller with gold engravings. The controller looks very nice! I like that the controller is obviously Zelda themed, but the design isn't too over bearing or annoying. Usually I don't like designs like this on my controllers or systems, but in this instance I'm really enjoying it since the design is nice and it's Zelda themed.

After unboxing the system and turning it on, you have to go through a system update which will take about an hour to complete. It was a bit disheartening since I was so excited to get started on the game, but the update is necessary and in the mean time you can maybe run a few errands or find something else to occupy your time while it updates. So after your system is updated, you will need to go to the Wii U shop to download your digital copies of Wind Waker and the Hyrule Historia. Luckily, these downloads don't take nearly as long as the system update, and you should be able to get started playing the game in only a matter of minutes!

The game itself is stunning! It's one of my favorites in the series, and I must say that the HD remake is definitely worth seeing. They made a few changes to the game, but for the most part, the HD remake remains true to the original game. I feel like the changes they made to the HD remake only tend to enhance the gameplay. Some changes in the game include the Swift Sail which will allow you to sail twice as fast as the original sail, AND you won't have to change wind directions! This will save you a lot of time and frustration from having to constantly change the direction of the wind to explore the ocean. One major change I noticed was that when you begin searching for the triforce pieces, you only have to locate 3 triforce charts instead of all of them. This again will save you a lot of time, and prevents the game from becoming so redundant. There is also an item called Tingle Bottles which allows you to share images and messages with other players. This really helps you out if you're trying to collect all of the figurines in the game. This remake is sure to please the fans, and to attract a lot of newcomers to the franchise. Kudos to Nintendo!

Aside from the Wind Waker game, the system itself has a lot to offer. One of my favorite new features is the Miiverse. It's sort of like a a forum for Nintendo games and products where users can share messages and pictures of their favorite games. The system also comes pre-installed with Youtube, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime, and Netflix to cover all of your video viewing needs. One flaw I've found with the system is whenever I watch Youtube videos, the loading times are very slow and it tends to stop a lot. I'd love to watch Youtube videos through my console, but unfortunately I've found it's much easier for me to just go to my laptop and view them. The same thing goes for the internet browser. Although it's a cool feature, I've found these tasks to just be easier to complete on my own laptop.

The Hyrule Historia download that comes with this console is also very neat! Although I'd rather read a physical copy of the book, the book does look very nice on the controller, and it's easy to navigate and flip through pages of the book with the controller.

I also just completed a system transfer from my Wii to Wii U, and the process was very simple. I now have all of my save data and virtual console games from my Wii to my Wii U! You can find information on how to do this through a google search.

So overall, I am very pleased with my new Wii U! I did find my Wii collecting dust, so I'm hoping to find more use with my Wii U. There have been a lot of solid releases for the 3DS, so I'm hoping the same will happen soon with the Wii U. So far there's a new 3D Super Mario, and Smash Bros game so it looks like these expectations may be met. I also wouldn't doubt that Nintendo will be announcing a new Zelda game soon. If you're a fan of Wind Waker and are interested in a Wii U, then you don't want to pass up this bundle. This bundle is great for old fans, and newcomers alike. Happy gaming!

Also, PLEASE check your local retailer before purchasing this bundle through Amazon. I got my bundle at Target for MSRP $299.99 and they still seemed to have plenty of systems in stock. I'm sure other retailers such as Best Buy and Wal-Mart should have the bundle too. Don't find yourself spending too much money for a system you can find cheaper just down the street from you!

Okay so I was one of those people who said the tablet was a gimmick and the console probably sucked. I was annoyed at Nintendo as well for ignoring the console and I still am. So a couple weeks ago my ps3 kicked the bucket(old ylod model that I was sick of fixing). I went out to replace it with a new model. I figured I could sell my ps2 library and deal with the ps2 classics on the psn. When I went out I saw that the Wii u bundle and the ps3 were the same price(Not the amazon list price it was $299.99) I paced around for almost a half hr thinking of what to do because I knew the Wii u had a small game library and I may have to re-buy games. I took the chance. Holy crap is this console amazing! I had the original Wii and I hated it! It had a few games that were actually excellent but that was rare. It mostly had those stupid cooking mamma games that i'd rather eat a box of nails then play. However it did have the Zelda games and Mario. What's great is I can play that small library of excellent titles that I missed after selling my Wii! In 1080p as well!(It's upscaled) The Wii games look sharp and the Wii u games on the game pad is sweet! The gamepad is not a gimmick! It's actually very useful! I like taking my games into my bedroom with my better ac instead in my living room with crappy ac. Also laying down on my couch with the gamepad playing next gen games rules! The big screen is nice but sometimes I feel like laying around like a lazy bum! The TV function is great as well! I didn't expect it but it's awesome! It won't replace your remote but it won't get you killed when you need the remote to adjust the volume either! Basically if i'm playing call of duty online and the volume is too loud i just tap the TV button, lower the volume and tap it again. Then i'm back to yelling at cod for lagging as well as making up excuses for my bad playing. =) The virtual console is a nice touch to but could use a larger library. You can however access the Wii virtual console which has n64 games and a decent amount of retro titles you can play. You can also use your tablet controller as a display for Wii mode now. The tablet controls can't play the games so you still need the wiimote and nunchuck, as well as the classic controller. You can also add up to 2tb of external storage to install Wii u games onto. Oh and the console does not have hdcp so if you like capturing gameplay you are free to do so and even if it did it supports component cables. It does need some bugs ironed out of the OS but so far it's one of my favorite Nintendo systems. I like the hardcore titles as well as the Nintendo titles and the vc. It gives you a good variety of gameplay. With Microsoft and Sony most of there exclusives are shooters and the third party games are also shooters so it made me wanna quit gaming. This is what I needed.

Meier's Gettysburg allows you to command CSA or Union troops in a series of scenarios that echo the real fighting if July 1863. As a commander you will learn the proper use of troops, including advancing under fire, defense, artillery use, terrain, maneuver and other techniques. Some scenarios are quite easy to learn and play. Others take more time to learn. There are over 40 scenarios, mini battles that you can play that do reflect aspects of the original battle. Graphics are clear, sounds are realisitic. When you make an error in handling your troops, the computer will say, "can't do that, general." This game is worth owning and worth playing. You can spend five minutes or hours playing. And a multi-player games is included. Can't say enough about the quality of this game which is inexpensively priced direct from the manufacturer, amazon or available at many wal-mart stores. The very clear images and mouse control of troops and artillery make this game a real winner. A great gift for yourself!!! or a friend!!!

I'd like to add to the review of jilesmeacham below, which I think best highlights the shortcomings of this otherwise fine game. These problems are all true, and detract from the experience.

The main bug I encountered not already mentioned was the enormous amounts of casualties the skirmish formation inflicts, and the minimal casualties suffered. I have patched it, and it still happens. Try the three day battle at the easiest difficulty level with skirmish mode. The enemy, whichever side you choose will crumble. A 7-1 kill ratio is not atypical. At higher difficulty levels, this continues, but the skirmish units are very quickly routed, even if the enemy unit attacking has sufferted large casualties, and I've lost five men. This makes the skirmish the strongest formation, if you have a large amount of troops to hold objectives once they've been routed.

Another problem is that the division, corps, and army commanders, are not very useful, except for boosting morale and rallying troops, and seeing all units under the officer's command.

Also, the lack of friendly fire makes for unlikely movements. You must entirely surround a regiment to have it surrender. When it is routed and has nowhere to run, that is the only situation in which it will surrender. So it pays in the game if you manage to encircle a regiment(s), even if in reality, your own troops would have fired more shots at each other than at the enemy. But if it manages to slip through a narrow gap, which seems like computer cheating, it won't surrender.

And again, artillery and cavalry are not useful. You must mass a large amount of artillery to inflict the amount of casualties a brigade can. The only use is that they lower enemy morale at no cost. They provide opportunities for greater losses as well. Also, it's almost like the computer cheats, when it comes to using a regiment to capture enemy guns, they always run away, or the regiment is "repulsed." Cavalry are only infantry that cost twice as much to lose. They don't lose morale in skirmish mode, but their costliness leads me to pull them off to the or retreat when I have infantry to take their place. They have a speed advantage in column mode that can be used at times to capture unoccupied objectives, such as when a few routed enemy units recover behind your lines.

In the Pickett's Charge scenario, there isn't much Union artillery at the easiest difficulty level, and at higher levels, they don't do the damage that they historically did. It's likely at the hardest level for you to lose disastrously, playing as Union, because your own morale lowers more quickly than that of the computer.

I'd like to reiterate the point already made that the importance of objectives detracts from realism. If you know anything about the Civil War, then you know that, for the most part, successful generals pursued armies and not locations. There are no decisive locations on this map. Lee was trying to push north, and if there are to be any Southern objectives worth a small amount it should be to control roads to the North and the town itself.

The last problem I can think of at the moment is the significance of battle formations. It is difficult to take advantage of holes in enemy lines. You simply amass enough firepower and reserves to lower morale and cause the enemy to retreat, and it's sort of automatic. The enemy is certainly good at finding weak points in your line, however. Also, it is difficult to try moves that could be described as "daring" or "risky." I have attempted to outflank the enemy by swinging an entire brigade(s) to the side of their lines, and the problem is that it takes too long, and the scenario ends before I can get started. Also, realistically, the enemy would remove or realign some of its units from its locations if in a true battle I had troops almost behind it.

Still, given the price now, used or in a store, this game is worth getting. Lots of play on these 3D maps help get you familiar with the battlefield, if you decide to visit. Also, the PDF included has some basic information, as well as battle statistics. If you have a book on the battle, this is a refreshing way to experience it, and, despite the bugs and design flaws-it belongs on the shelf of every Civil War buff and battlefield visitor.

It didn't occur to me to look at the dates on the reviews when we ordered this game. We have Windows ME, which the game works on, but didn't work on newer operating systems and even crashed one of grandpa's computers, causing him to comment, "Wow, this game is reallly old." Well, that's relative, but once we got it loaded on the ME computer it has provided endless entertainment for our 10-year-old genius and battle strategizer. He figured out the controls and rules quickly. When I sat down to look at it, I couldn't find my troops and gave up! I especially like the different bugle calls b/c I spend most of my time "listening" to my son play the game rather than watching/playing. It's wonderful battle history and tactical instruction. Very cool and educational -from a mom's point of view -and not bloody or gory, which detracts from the realism but makes it more palatable for younger kids.

Gettysburg has proven to be an excellent game for both the Civil War buff or anyone who enjoys gaming in general.

Several scenarios exist: historical (what acutally happened at the battle) and speculative (fascinating what ifs, for example, a scenario exists for Stonewall Jackson's presence at the battle). The gamer is also allowed to adjust the difficulty level of the opponent (computer) until a better understanding of the game and strategies are attained.

The graphics are excellent and realistic I have visited Gettysburg 6 times in my lifetime and the game's terrain features are pretty close to the real thing.

There are a few minor bugs, but not enough to detract from the game. Highly recommended. Buy and enjoy!

Gettysburg is a title which will capture the interest of any strategy buff. Large scale and multiple units to command, what more could you ask for. Well, an AI with a sense of reality would help. Several aspects of the game just don't reflect military logic. Firstly, cavalry march (in column order) as mounted units but when engaging the enemy they dismount and fight like infantry (also looking exactly like them). Sure, mounted infantry were common but gone is the elan of a cavalry charge, the most debonair feature of the era's battles, VERY disappointing. The only advantage cavalry have in this game is their speed of deployment which is scant homage to Custer and Stonewall. Artillery, which are the scourge of infantrymen, cause very little damage. After bombarding a few enemy brigades for a half an hour with over 50 cannon I inflicted a mere handfull of casualties. In this game (historically accuracy, at least on green troops) the major affect of artillery is to lower the morale. Veterans would not be as easily affected but here all suffer to the same degree. The most glaring problem, not limited to artillery alone but endemic throughout the game, is that routed enemy units slip through your ranks (unmolested by your troops I might add!)and disappear behind your lines to reemerge as effective fighting units where they either harass your flanks or recapture abandoned victory locations. This is just plain ludicrous compared to the historical record. Routed troops, separated from their officers, rarely recover their composure. Even when routed (running through your lines or away from them as is the normal thing to do)these units will not be fired upon by your troops. Again history has proven that routed soldiers suffer excessive casualties, which is why they rarely reemerge as combatants. But by far the most annoying thing is to see your men completely surround several regiments and artillery only to have these simply run right through your massed ranks. This happens in every game I have played. There is a patch for this but I haven't seen it eliminate the problem. Artillery is the main culprit here. The AI just refuses to allow these units to be captured. All too frequently they just limber up and saunter through or by my troops without a shot being fired in anger. Unless you close with them when they are unlimbered they are invulnerable to infantry. Indeed, my cannon stand static as they get raked with shot when closed by enemy infantry but when I close with them my soldiers break and run or the battery limbers up and drives off. These are very annoying tendencies which spoil the accuracy of a game which is touted as being close to the historical record. I think they could have done much better. Sure the atmosphere is great: courier messages, bugle calls, gunfire, battle cries, feedback from troopers all add to the spirit of the affair but these are just side issues to the main. Troops are easy enough to deploy so long as you like a box formation. Deploying in lines is all that one can muster and brigades can thus be stretched very thin. In order to compact these you will need to manually adjust their placement. When dealing with several dozen regiments this requires a lot of concentration.The flagbearers are so puny that singling them out in densely packed groups is quite taxing. Also, units will tend to stand where you put them so you will need to babysit as some regiments will stand back from the fray and allow their neighbours to be annihilated by the seemingly more cunning opposition AI. But no mind, it makes scant difference if the enemy is killing you at a ratio of 6-1 as victory is achieved through the capture of LOCATIONS. To this end I doubt if the developers gave much thought to how the game should end. I have played to an outcome where I captured all locations and inflicted losses to the enemy of 16000 to my 2000. With nearly two thirds of his men KIA the enemy still kept on attacking. I wouldn't mind if this involved some sort of clearly defined battle lines but the opponent had simply dissolved into a dozen or so remnants which merely harrased my troops at victory locations. Never saying die is one thing but lets be frank, after suffering a loss of a third of his men any commander would order a retreat: at two thirds he would surrender and then blow his brains out. There is an option to CLAIM victory but I think this applies only to multiplayer. I would like to see this game fixed to show a bit more realism before I can start calling it a great game. As it stands it has limited replayability (it doesn't matter which scenario you play they are all just variations on a theme). If endless sessions of engage, flank and pursue is what your looking for then this is right up you alley. I just think with an overhaul the game could be much more.
