I fell in love with the original Dot Hack series of games (Infection, Mutation, Outbreak and Quarantine) and when I heard they were coming out with a new series, I was very happy! I went out and bought the game the day it came out, and I have to say, I'm greatly impressed.

First off, the graphics are good. They're not the best, as Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria and Final Fantasy 12 are slightly newer with better graphics, but they don't completely suck.

Sound is pretty good too, but it gets very repetetive after a few hours of gameplay. The combat sounds are exciting and "pop", but the background music gets on your nerves. Especially the background music when you're in the first town, "Mac Anu", gets stale so fast.

The controls are easy to pick up. The R1 button can now be assigned different skills so, unlike in the first games, you don't have to open several menus just to use an attack skill. Sadly enough, though, you cannot assign healing spells to the R1 button. The camera control is somewhat better than the last game, but I feel it still needs work.

The voice acting is decent at best. Most of the characters show little emotion, or over-react their emotion to the point of making it rediculous. Just wait till you meet Gaspard, and you'll know what I'm talking about... The main hero is also rediculously one sided, getting frustrated at each and every event trigger in the game, and often for stupid reasons. If its supposed to portray how gamers react in an MMORPG, its completely off the ball, at least as far as I've seen (been playing Guild Wars and World of Warcraft for about two years.)

There are TONS of stuff to do in this game too. You can become part of a number of guilds, which opens various options to you as a player, such as special shops that allow you to make creative items, access to a faster mode of transportation, etc. You can also do a number of fun and interesting, if not repetetive, quests. The designers definetely tried to capture the MMORPG feel, but I don't think they accurately got it. Close but no cigar. For example, the towns are bustling with people, but oftentimes you'll see one person, turn a corner, and they'll be there again when they were running the opposite direction a few minutes prior. The town recycles the inhabitants over and over, so no matter how far away you get from a "player", they'll be right there when you go to a different district in town.

The story is o.k. as far as I've been. A lot of it feels forced, like the hero has to do this because the programmers made it that way, not because the hero "wants" to. It started out that way, but quickly took a dive.

I'm not impressed with the grading system after you complete dungeons and fields. You get graded on how many things you kill, sneak up on, boxes or other destructable items you destroy, how many items you collect etc. There is almost no explanation of that system that I've encountered, and I feel its useless. All you can unlock is extra words to create new dungeons and fields and useless items. Literally, I've had 50 health drinks, which is like a potion in other RPGs, since the first couple hours of playtime. I never use them, cause I don't take that much damage ever.

Thats another thing. The game's battles are entirely too easy! No one battle provides any sort of challenge. If you go to an area three levels higher than you, it gets harder, but the difficulty is masked in more hitpoints and damage capability, not true improved AI or anything.

All in all, however, the game is a vast improvement over the previous games. There are tons of unlockable stuff, tons of places to go, and you'll be entertained for hours on end. I would definetely pick this game up if you get the chance!

If you've played the original .hack games, then you won't be disappointed in this one. If you haven't played the original .hack games and like MMORPG games without the MMO part, then you'll like this game. The OS interface is familiar, yet improved from the first set of games. You still get e-mails and still respond to a few, getting responses back and so on. However, now you have greeting cards and "affection levels" of characters you can call on. The higher their affection level, the better they will fight with you in battle. There are still "message boards" but now there are more of them, both on and off "The World" that can unlock certain events and levels within the game by either reading or responding to them. There's even a section of boards where fans post art that you can download to use as wallpaper on your OS. There's also still a News section, but now it has clickable links to short movies and even sometimes ads, making it seem more like an actual Internet connection.

You play as Haseo, who has conveniently been attacked by "Tri-Edge" which resulted in him being leveled down to 1 and having everything reset so you get to begin with starting equipment. Just as if you were starting a new game! One big addition to this game is the ability to kill other players. Those who do are called "Player Killers" or PKers. Now, you can't just rush out and start hacking away at your own party, but if you come across a glowing blue area, that means that someone is fighting inside. If you enter, you can't leave unless you have a smoke bomb or defeat the enemy. Often times it will be a player being attacked by a PKer and your party has the chance to save them. If you do, you get an item from them as thanks. Haseo's character is an "Adept Rogue" which can eventually use multiple weapons and magic, but never to the mastery of the job classes of the ones who ONLY use those weapons. Sort of like the Red Mage of the game. Don't worry though, it doesn't slow you down. Haseo pushes right along, starting off with the familiar twin blades and eventually learns others. It can be difficult at first, but just pay attention to what the other characters are telling you, take breaks from the story to level up every so often, and you'll do fine. Its a great game with interesting character development and unique game play. Plus, when you're done, your saved game data can carry over to the next game, GU Vol. 2. All of your weapons, abilities, e-mails, everything. There are three volumes in all, but no word yet as to when they will all be released in the US. Good luck gaming!

Best Deals for .hack: G.U., Vol. 1: Rebirth

There were many people who enjoyed the original, 4-game dothack series. I was not one of them. After a good opening, the game immediately fell into dull repetition. The story was so-so (what? a virtual world can feel real, it's inhabitants feeling the effects of game elements in their real lives? How novel!), the graphics were so-so, and the whole experience was incredibly easy (and short I finished the 2nd game in a mere 9 hours). The best part of the original game were the sidequests, often opened after the main game ended (and one of which, the item collection quest, I'm STILL not finished with).

Bandai learned. Sidequests are fun? Then let's put a lot of them into the next outing! Graphics are only so-so? Let's spruce them up! Gameplay is a bit repetitive? Let's add a few more dungeon models! (OK, they could have done a lot more with the last one, but still...)

Add it all up, and you get the sold outing, ".hack//G.U.". The original world has been destroyed, the computers which generated it having been lost in an inexplicable fire. CC Corp releases, "The World 2", which has many elements of the original game, but also included the option to "PK", or "Player Kill". Some people love it, some people abhor it. Your character is PK'ed in his first outing, and decides to devote his RPG experience to PKK'ing (I think you can figure this one out yourself). He is an incredibly powerful character ("Haseo, the Terror of Death"), whose motives are obscured. However, while searching for a PK'er by the name of "Tri-Edge", his character is wiped out, and he is forced to start from the beginning.

From here, I'll let you discover the story on your own. No, it isn't great, but it isn't bad either. But this game lives and dies through sidequests. Bounty hunter, Lucky Animals, Mecha Grunties, arena battles all of these and more can be discovered and conquered as you manoeuvre the game simply known as "The World".

For forty bucks, it's not so bad. Happy hunting...

I love this game. The story, the soundtrack, the lost ground areas. Its great all around. If this isnt your type of game the gameplay might get a bit stale but luckily there are job changes to spice it up a bit.

I've owned this pad for about 6 months now and all together I'm fairly satisfied with it. As the description says it is the cheapest pad (that I could find) that will work with the PS1, PS2, Xbox, and the PC. Quality wise I would say that this pad is worse than the official pads from Konami. When I received mine it wouldn't lie flat on the floor until I had used it for awhile and there were some creases in the foam on the bottom that still have not gone away. As far as sensitivity originally it seemed fine but recently I have noticed that I have needed to hit the buttons harder to get them to register but that might be the result of my increase in skill level since I started using the pad. Still for $20 I don't think I would be overly disappointed if the pad broke down after 6 or so months of fairly heavy use. Overall I would say that if you plan on only using the pad for console playing stick with an official brand but if you are looking for a pad to use with a PC program (like Stepmania) and still be able to play console DDR titles this pad is a fairly economical choice.

I began having the symptoms of the RROD on my March 2007 Xbox console with GPU Rhea. It first shut down with an E74 error. Then started randomly freezing. Then colors started showing and graphical glitches started appearing. It was apparent my GPU was overheating. Then my console RROD once, but after cooling worked fine.

So I ordered this kit. Took about 1 week to arrive. Cam in a small manilla envelope and the parts were in small plastic bags. Came with "generic" cleaner and purifier that smelled a lot like lemon juice, much like you clean stainless steel grills off with. The cleaner bottle came with the sides squeezed in. No liquid escaped though. The kit included a website that you navigate to to get to the instruction PDF. The book wasn't as detailed as expected and some things you would have to imagine such as prying the X-Clamp off.

I have had previous knowledge on installing parts on and disassembling the Xbox 360. Following the instructions, it took about 25-30 minutes to install this kit. the T8 screwdriver was a bit small. Seemed like a T7 and could have caused stripping of the screws if you dont have an regular sized screwdriver.

As stated in a previous review, the screws attach through the motherboard and not the metal casing. The screws slightly raise the motherboard up causing you to tighten down the metal casing screws causing potential bowing. Also uses the overheating method to the GPU, which is potentially hazardous.

Console works like a charm for now. Will attempt to update if problems arise. I assume the last reviews haven't had issues, I shouldn't.

The Low Down: Pros$20 for a $200 system repair.

All tools included needed. No soldering, no hardware mod.

Includes Arctic Silver 5, an amazing heat dissapating compound I use on my Intel Core i7.

ConsCauses bowing in the motherboard

Instructions needs internet and are at times unclear.

Uses overheating method which may cause worse problems.

4/5 Rating, Recommended.

Took a little bit longer than they say, but I was more careful than most. Directions are good and easy to follow, but just a tip for some extra help search what your trying to do on Youtube for a visual of the process. My Xbox was just over 3 years old(barely out of the warranty) and it red ringed. I plan on buying a better fan and possibly a core cooler to keep it longer. Great fix, I will update if anything happens again in the near future..... I hope it doesn't.

I ordered this kit, because I had a xbox 360 that would turn on fine, but would freeze after 10-20 seconds or when I inserted a disc. I wasn't sure if this product was the solution for this problem, since I didn't have the 3 red lights, but I figured it was worth a shot. I just finished fixing my xbox 360, following the instructions provided (the kit comes with url's for two pdf files that contain the steps for fixing the system). It took me about 1.5-2.0 hours from start to finish (I was taking my time on certain steps), I fired up the system and it was working beautifully. I tested the system for a little bit before I completely reassembled the console. The temperature radiating from the heatsink was very much reduced. I reassembled the system completely and started it up once more, it seems to be working great. I will put the system through more rigorous tests, but I seriously doubt there will be any over-heating issues.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 XCLAMP Repair Kit - 3 Red Light X-Clamp Fix w/ 3.5g Arctic

so this kits works for sure, however it comes with 8 bolts, when you put motherboard back into case the 8 new bolts line up perfectly with the 8 mini black torx screws and the torx actually go into the head of the new bolts. When this happens it makes it so that you cannot take apart your xbox easily the next time. I had to drill out all 8 torx screws to fix this problem. I suggest not using the 8 black torx screws and drilling out the old holes for them to allow the new bolts to slide further down in the metal case which will allow the motherboard to sit in a more natural position.

Lords of the Realm: Royal Collection - PC/Mac Review

Lords of the Realm: Royal Collection - PC/Mac
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

If you are a fan of computer wargames and have not yet experienced Lord of the Realms II, then you have missed a real treat.

Players in this game assume the role of medieval lords, each the ruler of a county. Throughout the game, lords must divide the labor of their peasants between agriculture (herding cattle and growing wheat) and industry (mining iron, quarrying stone, cutting wood, and manufacturing weapons), decide how to tax their people, and adjust food distribution. When necessary, they can upgrade their fortifications, raise troops, hire mercenaries, and buy needed goods from merchants. The ultimate goal of the game is to conquer enemy counties and become king over the entire country.

Troop types include peasants, macemen, archers, crossbowmen, pikemen, swordsmen, and knights. Castles begin as simple, ungarrisoned palisades and can be upgraded, resources available, to a motte-and-bailey, Norman keep, stone castle, or royal castle (a big stone castle with a moat).

Sieges are the high point of this game. Attackers can assault fortifications with troops supported by catapults, siege towers, and battering rams, and defenders can man the walls with their soldiers and pour boiling oil on the besiegers.

Lords of the Realm II has improved upon the deficiencies of its predecessor, Lords of the Realm, and provides a good balance of strategy and tactics, economic management and battle.

Lords of the Realm 2 was the first strategy game I played. A friend brought it over in 7th grade, and in the past 7 years it's been the one game I've gone back to repeatedly. I have yet to grow tired of this game.

First, I love the game's soundtrack. I've actually put all the music WAV files in a playlist...and while I'm on the subject of the audio, if you haven't listened to setup2.wav, DO IT!

As for gameplay, it isn't exactly the most complicated of strategy games, but I think that's part of what makes it fun. If you're going to create an army, wait for one of the merchants to come through so you can buy ale. It's much easier to feed people on grain than cows, and it doesn't hurt happiness. The Knight is a spoiled brat. It is music to my ears to hear "The county is yours, my lord..." After countless hours playing this game, things like these are what you will discover. Oh, and defending your first siege without losing a guy (and no auto-calc either)...now there's a feeling of intense pride.

If you can manage to get the (now flaky) multiplayer system to work anymore (it sure as heck wasn't designed for XP!), you're in for quite a treat. The Siege Pack adds in a new gameplay form, the Skirmish. This is the real-time battles of the game played separate from the game itself. These are great for when you don't have time to sit through the typical hours for an RTS, but have a taste for medieval battle.

I just found and played LOTRII 2 weeks ago for the first time in 3 years. I am a sucker for this time period and started with Defender of the Crown back in the Tandy days. I was still surprised how challenging and good LOTRII was after all this time!

This is a challenging game, especially when the difficulty level is set to anything over 'normal'.

The control over economy, farming resource management, castle building and military design is wonderful. The graphics are good for a game of its age as do the sounds.

Military battles are reminiscant of Warcraft controls.

It has run very successfully on my Windows XP box and sounds beter than ever through Audigy.

I give 4 out of 5 as AI diplomacy could use an upgrade. I can't wait for Lords Of The Realm III to come out. Until then enjoy this, its still worth the purchase!

Honest reviews on Lords of the Realm: Royal Collection - PC/Mac

This is a GREAT turn-based strategy game; perhaps on my list of top 5 of all time. The only real drawback is that it is pretty old, so it has to be in compatibility mode on Vista, and isn't as smooth on XP (though it still works, it doesn't play the cut screens). Not sure how it works on Linux-based OS. But it's simply to play and to learn to play with on-screen tips, and will keep you entertained for hours, notwithstanding its age.

***UPDATE***

After reviewing my own review, I realized I hardly mentioned anything about the game play, so here it is in a nutshell: The king is dead, and now everybody is fighting for the crown (including you). Each "level" is a country (Ireland, for example) that is broken up into different counties, or a region (the middle-east) that is broken up into different countries. You have to capture each county by attacking it with an army you have built up with troops and weapons gleaned from you other counties. After you capture all of the counties, you go on to the next "level," which is just another country or region.

Though the gameplay is mostly turn-based (a turn every season), the battles are all real-time (or can be auto-calculated if you don't want to fight them). After taking a county, you have to make and keep it happy by keeping taxes low, rations in good supply, people in good health, and war-mongering to a minimum. You control all of these elements. A happy county will attract and keep peasants, which are allocated to different production areas (stone, wood, iron, wheat farm, dairy farm, blacksmith, field reclamation). You need to produce wheat and dairy to feed your people (or reclaim fields to farm), and you use resources to build castles and weapons to attack other counties and defend against invaders.

Very addicting, and I play it ever now, 13 years after I got my original copy.

Razer Razer Mass Effect 3 Onza Tournament Edition Gaming Controller for Xbox 360
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars

After having to get this unit used and speedy shipped to me, I gotta say so far, the layout is nice, controls are responsive and quick. The buttons require no "mashing" like some other aftermarket controllers. Its neat to look at, and has two programmable bumpers below LB and RB. Overall not too shabby. If it breaks, I'll repost but I don't have any issues so far, just wish it was wireless.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

The Razer Onza Tournament Edition(any skin) is the best controller available right now. Just make sure to save your warranty information that comes with it, because it is a controller and analog sticks will get stuck.

The extra shoulder buttons are above RB and LB, which takes about 5 minutes to get used to.

Adjustable tension on the analog sticks really does help you win harder.

The start and back buttons are in a perfect spot. I don't know how many times I've seen stoners smashing away on the X button and hit Start on accident. And if you don't like the location, switch back to a regular 360 controller after 2 weeks and see how many times you hit the Guide button and Start at the same time.

The awesome, braided cord is super long, so nobody "be trippin"

But if they somehow manage to "be trippin" the nifty extra plug thing near the usb plug will let go so your precious Xbox doesn't fall and get hurt like your dumb friend/grandparent.

The A B X Y buttons light up, so be prepared to get all the chicks.

If you use Turtle Beach X11s like me, you'll have to plug them into your controller with your Xbox on and then restart your Xbox. At least I've had to with both of my Razer controllers.

It comes with stickers.

Best Deals for Razer Onza Professional Gaming Controller - Xbox 360

I just got mine yesterday, and I love it. It is very comfortable to use and seems to be very high quality. I don't see what all the hate is about, this is a really good product. I am glad that it is wired so now I can use it for my PC as well as my Xbox. It works very well with Mass Effect 3, as well as shooters. I have tried this with Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3, and Fallout 3; just to name a few.

BASIC OVERVIEW

-PROS

The controller feels really nice, it is made of sleek materials and doesn't fell rubbery or squishy at all.

The buttons (A,B,X,Y) are AMAZING. They are way better than the original kinds of buttons. I barely even need to click them to get it to do the button's action.

The re-mappable buttons are a very nice touch. Works great when you are on the fly (run) and you can't take your fingers off of the thumbsticks.

The Precision D-Pad is extemely responsive and one of the best D-Pads I've ever seen on a controller.

The controller is wired, so there is no need to keep getting batteries to keep on playing.

The ability to add or take away resistance to the thumbsticks really helps with shooters.

The wire is 15 feet long. Yeah, you heard me. 15 FEET. You can sit all the way across the room and play!

The ergonomic design adds to the experience. I don't know about you guys, but this controller just seems to "fit." My hands perfectly fit on it and it seems to improve my gameplay.

-CONS

Not many cons, but there were a few.

The thumbsticks (the actual tops of them) are a little slippery. I recommend getting some sort of analog stick cover for them. WARNING! These are not normal thumbsticks, and I doubt all kinds of grips will fit! I use

Grip-it analong stick covers, and they work perfectly. You can get those here:

http://www.amazon.com/Grip-iT-Analog-Stick-Covers-Playstation/dp/B003NSLGW2/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1335654274&sr=1-1

The back and start buttons are a little awkwardly placed. This is a minor deal. I just need to reach farther to hit them. If you are really agitated by this, then remap the extra buttons to be start and back.

The controller feels pretty different compared to an original controller, and may take time getting used to. The triggers especially may take some time.

Not really a big deal at all, but the Red N7 stripe on the left side of the controller isn't that red. The actual one is a little darker and more like the No. 7 of the Dark Cherry Red in this image:

(...)

This doesn't have to do with the controller, but the Collector Assault Rifle kinda sucks. If you really need it, then get it cheaper with the iPhone case.

RATING

Quality 5/5

Price 4/5

Concept 5/5

Overall, this is a great controller and I recommend it to anyone.

Many people say that their controllers have broken quickly, but at the moment I cannot comment on that subject, as I have only had mine for a day. I will write updates if I see problems or notice something worth writing about.

UPDATE!

My controller broke yesterday, the left trigger is not working at all. The controller is great while it works, but it breaks too easily.

Honest reviews on Razer Onza Professional Gaming Controller - Xbox 360

I bought this controller for the extra features and because I'm a big Mass Effect fan. I loved Razer's Naga Molten Edition mouse, so I thought I'd give them another shot. I tried to like this controller, but just couldn't. Granted, I have only had this controller for 3 days, I am seriously considering returning it. I purchased it directly from Razer.

Pros:

Extra shoulder buttons can be remapped to (almost) every button on the controller.

Adjustable resistance analog sticks do what they say.

Smooth, comfortable surface.

Aesthetically pleasing (LED lights, Razer design, "texture," N7 stripe).

Separated D-Pad buttons.

Action buttons are extremely fast and work like a mouse click.

--------------------------------

Cons:

Shoulder buttons cannot be remapped to the opposite trigger or bumper. For example, the right multi-function button cannot be remapped to the left trigger.

The knobs to adjust the resistance on the analog sticks are hard to turn. I feel like I'm putting serious strain on them every time I adjust them. I'm guessing this is why they broke for so many people.

When the analog sticks are tightened to increase resistance, they are unevenly tightened. Pushing my right stick to the left side is harder than pushing it to the right, and so on.

As a wired controller, it connects via... a wire. This isn't a problem on most devices, unless the wire is rigidly stiff and 15 feet long. It is clunky and excessively long. It wants to stay in one position, making it hard to bend to a new one, and it often irritates my legs.

The four shoulder buttons click way too loud. Some louder than others.

The triggers are very difficult to rapid fire with, even while holding them at the base for the shortest press.

The D-Pad buttons need to be pushed in about a mile to register. Funny, considering the fact that they advertised the exact opposite for the buttons on the other side of the controller.

The controller's vibration seems odd somehow. It is kind of loud and not very pleasant.

My PS3 analog sticks on my old Xbox controller spoiled me. I don't know what Microsoft was thinking when they designed the introverted analog stick, but they get painful during long sessions. This controller's sticks are of a similar design, but offer slightly more comfort. When you get used to having smooth, rounded PS3 sticks, these are still a downside.

The controller doesn't support chat pad attachments. Razer tries to glorify this shortcoming in the FAQs by saying we are here to game, not to chat. Too bad basic literacy is sometimes essential for gaming. Meanwhile, I am plugging a keyboard into my Xbox to send messages or redeem codes...

--------------------------------

As a side note, the Collector Assault Rifle is nice. At rank 1, it fits somewhere between the Phaeston X and the Revenant X in power. However, it weighs too much. It is fun, but nothing special. It isn't worth purchasing promotional items for.

So basically, what we have here is plenty of great ideas but very poor execution. The controller offers increased functionality in some areas (A,B,X,Y buttons), while completely disregarding possible implementation of those improvements in other areas (any other given button that doesn't use the "mouse" style, particularly the D-Pad). If you have money burning a hole in your pocket and would like a spare controller, go for it. Just don't expect anything great. If you want something efficient and reliable, go for the regular old Microsoft controllers.

UPDATE 8/1/2012: from 3 to 2 stars...

The controller's left analog stick stopped working about a month ago and I had to send it back to Razer to have it replaced. They replaced it and I only had to pay about $9 for shipping. I've read many reviews on various sites of other people having this issue as well. I'd avoid this controller unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket.

I'm really impressed with this controller, it's one of the best I've ever owned. The listed features work as described.

Yes, there are only three games on the disc and it does retail for $20, which is the same amount you would pay to download them on Xbox Live Arcade, so I don't care about the price (not to mention you could buy it used and it would actually be cheaper than downloading them). All the games are playable off the disc, you do not have to download them so for those of you trying to conserve hard drive space, this is ideal. It's also not like the PopCap compilations as you can play these games right off the disc instead of having to redirect to the arcade to play, small time saver, but I like it. Symphony of the Night was the big draw for me because I wanted to replace my PS copy but the other two games are also enjoyable. And yes, they do have achievements, 200 points each. If you are only interested in one or two of the games, you may as well just download them off the marketplace, but if you don't have any of them and want them all, pick up the disc and spare your hard drive a few extra megabytes of space.

The other reviewer brought up the point that $20 is a little expensive for a "classics pack". Most of the time, I would say that is a valid argument when deciding to purchase a game, but in this case, I beg to differ. Consider this:

A)Contra is awesome.

B)Frogger, while not an amazing title, is still pretty fun.

C)This package includes Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

For me SotN is the big draw here. This classic game was the epitomy of sidescrolling action, and had incredible graphics and controls. Now, Symphony of the Night was released on the original PS more than ten years ago, but it's fun and value have not diminished in the slightest. In fact, the value of SotN has skyrocketed (one word?), with the original game selling for about $130. Besides getting the game itself, the graphics have been upgraded to 720p HD (you can choose to play with the classic graphics or the upgraded ones)! An incredible deal when you consider the price of the orignal game. And you get two other classic games!

I purchased this for Castlevania, symphony of the night. Contra was a nice addition and I haven't played frogger, so I can't comment on that.

Castlevania is excellent. It's the same as the original game and worth picking up for the Castlevania fan. Contra was a fun game, but one play through should be enough.

Obviously, I don't need to explain GTA3 and GTA Vice City, because at this point, everybody has at least heard about them. Well, I shouldn't need to say this either, but both games are fantastic. If you have a PS2, and you don't have either game... first off, what the hell else were you buying when these were out??? Well, that's okay, because now, you can get them both for $40 (which is two-fifths of the total price I paid for both). So if you have a PS2, and still don't have either game, GO GET THIS BUNDLE PACK. 'Nuff said.

First off, these games are incredible. Perhaps the best Action RPGs I've ever played, with a really dark/sarcastic sense of humor. If people don't understand that the games are satirical, they probably shouldn't be playing them... The excessive violence is humorous sadistic fun.

That being said, I cannot believe that these little kids are coming on here and spouting off the ridiculous things they're saying. Sorry, you little brats, you should not be playing these games, nor am I interested in your opinions or justifications for doing so.

I was absolutely dumbfounded by the 12 year old who posted something like "there's female nudity in this game, and that's bad because it makes parents react negatively to the game." If you think nudity is the most offensive thing in this game, you're completely oblivious... and if nudity is what it takes to alert parents to the simple obvious fact that children should not be playing this, then thank god for the nudity.

Forget all this silly controversy over the new game's Hot Coffee mode... These games SHOULD be rated Adults Only to begin with...

Parents!!!!: This is a game where your character can have sex with a hooker, then beat her to death to get your money back. Then you can use that money to buy a gun and go kill some cops. You can kill innocent old ladies for kicks and go unpunished for it. You can enter a code that makes the game more violent, so that spraying people with your machine gun will make their arms fly off and their heads explode. You can block a highway with your abandoned car and then climb up onto a hill with a rocket launcher and start blowing away the traffic that piles up. You can climb up to the top of a tall building and take out innocent pedestrians with a sniper rifle. Your character will be employed by members of the Mafia and Yakuza, and he will be involved in drug smuggling and weapon trafficking. In this game, the police are your enemy. This is a game that rewards you for committing heinous crimes, and it's an absolute blast unlike any other game out there...

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME FOR YOUR KIDS! DO NOT LISTEN TO YOUR CHILDREN WHEN THEY TRY TO CONVINCE YOU TO BUY IT FOR THEM!

There are few things short of hardcore porn that I would say are more innapropriate for children. You should be AT LEAST 17 to play this game. Of course these little kids are trying to say that it's ok for children, but come on! They love it because its insanely fun!

Video games are NOT just for children anymore, and this game makes that blatantly clear. It's a great step forward for this medium as a valid artform, but it's also dangerous for parents who don't pay attention and assume that video games are just for children.

Best Deals for Grand Theft Auto Double Pack: Grand Theft Auto III / Grand Theft

You have a PS2, but you don't have the game that pushes your system to it's limits, will suck weeks from your social life, and is the most fun ever? Well, now you can fix all that. If you never bought GTA3 or VICE then this is your chance. What really makes both of these games great are:

Open ended: go where ever you want, do whatever you want. In this way it's more like a toy that you can play with and make up your own goals.

Great graphics: Vice City is esp nice, with shine off cars in the morning to reflections on the rain soaked road. And making that perfect jump in slo-mo is sweet.

Music: The radio stations are great. And the talk shows and NPR parodies are awsome.

Never ending: there are so many missions and things to find and do you'll never finish this game. But, this gives it a shelf life beyond the system you're playing it on.

Gameplay: it's perfect. No hard button combos to memorize, but still very functional.

Also, if you ever owned a Commodore 64 then you HAVE to see the startup screen for Vice City :-)) As others have said, this is not a kids game, it is for mature teens and up. It has a rating, use it.

HINT: To steal a cop car, try to open the passenger side door. When the cop jumps out to nab you, try the door again and it's yours. Also, search the net for cheats, these are fun. But don't save your game with some cheats, it could make it unbeatable.

Just for fun: Play tag with the cop cars. Or, stand on top of a truck and toss grenades into traffic without falling off.

Honest reviews on Grand Theft Auto Double Pack: Grand Theft Auto III / Grand Theft

What can be said about the Grand Theft Auto series? That hasn't been said before. Well, not a heck of a lot.

First of all, this is one of the best deals to come along in a long time. These games alone are the reason to own a PS2, and provide some of the longest gameplay sessions in recent memory. Let's break it down.

GTA III:

The story of a nameless street thug who becomes a wheelman for the mob. Set in the dar and stormy (and ironically named) Liberty City, you will do everything from boost cars to deliver "goods" to whack people in your journey through this dark world of crime and punishment. While it seems simple, this isn't just a game. It's an experience.

With GTA III, Rockstar Games gave people a giant, shiny, macabre, funny toy to play with. There's a whole world in here, and it's ripe for the picking. Hookers, gangsters, cops, robbers, grease monkeys, and innocent pedestrians; all are there to populate and color this world. This is a crime simulator, and crime most certainly DOES pay here. It's also damn fun.

GTA Vice City

Rather than offering an upgrade to the blockbuster GTA III, Rockstar crafted an acid-washed, neon-soaked, 80's gangster epic with equal parts Scarface and Miami Vice thrown into the mix that was created for the previous game. Tommy Vercetti, a jailed man just freed, is set up by the mobs of Vice City, and now is in a fight for survival, and control.

Take the free-roaming gameplay of GTA III, add more vehicles, more city, more people, smarter AI, more weapons, and a whole lotta hair metal, and you'd be close to getting a bead on Vice City. This 80's inspired masterpiece of gameplay, story, and style stands as a hallmark of the series, and of action games everywhere. You'll not only turn wheelman, but you'll buy property, earn money from the city's drug trade, get yourself a mansion, and even some minions I mean, comrades in arms.

What was good in GTA III is better, slicker, prettier, faster, and funnier in Vice City. It's a brave new world. It's up to the gamer to make the most of it.

It's funny really. There were two games in the series previous to the megahit that was GTA III, and yet, despite that these are the same concept, gameplay, and focus that the sequels expand on, it was only with the realease of the more realistic 3D games that all the noise was made about more violence in vidya games being bad for youth.

Realism can be dangerous, but the claim that violent games make violent people is unfounded and lunatic. There is a fundamental difference between the digital and the real, and it's up to parents to make sure that children understand where the line is.

Besides, that's what the rating system is for. "M" games are NOT for kids, any more than "R" rated movies are. Amazing how logic can be so easily sidestepped in the name of moral outrage.

In either case, these are gems not to be passed up. Bargain price, classic gameplay, great stories, and the most replayability this side of. . .well, anything really. There's more than enough violence and mayhem for anyone to really enjoy living on the wrong side of the law. Just remember, save before you quit.

This worked as I was expecting, configuration is a pain but if you've configured your own wireless router manually then it shouldn't be an issue. When I had a wireless G router, I noticed some lag on X-Box live, but I've since upgraded to a good wireless N router. Now I can play Halo Reach Matchmaking and not have lag significantly affect gameplay!

Unlike what many reviewers said, it is not that tough to set up.

Basically, you plug it to your PC/MAC, change your PC/MAC ip adress to 10.10.10.3, and then log on to 10.10.10.254.

Enter the username/passwd as admin/admin, set everything up, and connect it to the Xbox/PS3. It's that easy !

I haven't tried it with a game yet, but I did the Xbox update via Xbox Live and it worked fine.

Plus, I got it for $26 on eBay, which is far from the $80 you spend for the Microsoft product.

Peace :p

I purchased one of these network adapters for my nephew, hoping to save $50 by skipping the Microsoft brand wireless N adapter, and I regretted it the moment I started trying to install it for him. The installation is ridiculously convoluted, and I'd consider myself an expert with computers and networking. The software included with it is poorly coded and barely works, and it turns out the adapter won't work with dsl or fios at all. I ended up taking a quick drive to a Gamestop and getting the Microsoft branded N product, which took all of five minutes to set up.

Before returning this product, I decided to give it a shot with my Comcast Extreme 50 home connection. Once I managed to get the thing working it couldn't handle the speed of my connection and throttled it down to 15mbit.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this thing at all costs, if you need a wireless adapter and can't afford the Microsoft wireless N, buy one of the older Microsoft wireless G adapters you'll get the same speed due to the throttling on the madcatz product and you'll avoid a massive headache when trying to install the little nightmare.

I'm glad I did a fit check before peeling off the covers and applying the screen. This screen is about a millimeter too short on each side, so even if you apply it perfectly, it still looks like it's off a little. The microfiber cloth seems better than others that I have but in the end I won't be using this screen protector.

They don't even know it's there, but it protects the screen from getting all scratched up like their other screens have gotten. Great way to protect the investment in expensive gaming equipment.

The grinch is definately a fun game. It contains outstanding graphics and numerous capabilities, yet it is a little hard to figure out. Definately not a game for someone under 14-15. Anyone younger may need the help of an adult to figure out some of the tricks

This game is great, but it is directed towards the wrong audience. This game will not be very simple for the children which are the target of the grinch movie, and it will turn away teenagers and older gamers because it is called the grinch. THis game is great and people jsut need to give it a chance.

Grinch is a great game. My husband and I are both hooked on it. We are, however, stuck right now. We can't find the last part of the climbing gear. Anyone have any advice? I would not purchase this game for kids, it is just too hard. There are a lot of puzzles to figure out. You really have to think in this game. Overall, I would recommend this game.

Honest reviews on The Grinch

and I finally beat it. Some people may think it's impossible to beat. There are easier games, but that's besides the point. The graphics are just like any other PS1 game. There's so many tasks in this game. That is what makes it cool.

The Grinch loses all his blueprints for his gadgets while planning to steal Whoville's christmas. He has to search in 4 environments to obliterate everything to complete several tasks in Whoville, the Whoforest, the dump, and Who Lake. and retrieve these blueprints to create his Rotten Egg Launcher, Slime Gun, Rocket Spring, Octopus-climbing device, Marine Mobile and Grinch Copter. That's the basic object of the whole game. If you complete enough tasks and destroy enough gifts, you can open up 3 "sup-a-dows" which are doors that lead to cool games inside the Grinch's lair up on Mount Crumpit. The first one has a bunch of poles that you swing from to get to the finish line in the limited time. The second one is where you just smash as many pumpkins as you can and try to beat your time. The third one is where you just fly with the Grinch Copter through rings to the finish line in the limited time. All 3 of them have limited times. Later on, you can take a sleigh ride to stop Santa! I got 100 percent. Games like "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory" for PS2 was much easier and I only beat that in a couple of days. "The Grinch" will take a lot longer, but it's worth playing for the fun of it.

I love this game 'cause im just one of those people who sing jingle bells in the middle of the summer cause i love the christmas spirit. when i saw this i thought, hmmmm, ITS MINE but there are a few downs like its really hard to do something but while you are doing it it is fun! Its not that good when it comes to following the story line but other than that you can be the grinch, max, and.... well the grinch and max. I give it 5 stars because its just a christmas..ie kind of game!

Let this be known... I received this controller a week or so after the date promised. It was a Christmas gift and I didn't get it on time so my frustration was pretty high. So why all five stars and why did I put incredible service?? Ill tell you.

I sent them an email and told them of my complaint with as much calmness as I could muster and then that very day or the next day I received an email back from them telling me what was going on and why it had happened and that my shipping cost would be refunded and 10 percent off the actual purchase of the controller would be refunded as well. 15 dollars total. They were excellent. Truth is stuff happens but what really stands out is how bad situations are dealt with and I must say it was dealt with in a professional fashion and I appreciate it completely.

As for the controller itself ...

Awesome ! Haha does what it says it will do and directions are very clear. My wife you doesn't know much about games worked the controller with ease.

Hope this review helps :).

This product wich I purchased for myself really surprised me from the moment i opened the packaging. Came in a nice product box and easy to navigate and read owners manual. The directions give you a break down of basic 10 setting and there suggested game play. Also has directions for the custom programing wich seem a bit overwhelming at first. Once you get the idea of the basic operations the custom programing part is more easily understood and really not hard at all. The controller feels well made and for the lack of better words...really cool and the lights are pretty. Been using for a few days now and have just barely scratched the surface on the variations of speeds and custom settings. I really am enjoying this controler and am getting more fun out of my gaming with it. Hope this review was helpful.

I have received my controller today. Was very excited. Happy to unpack it all and hook it up. Tested the controller out on private mods just so I can get a grip of the features without having to worry about getting sprayed by enemy's. I enjoy it :)

Some of the sub features can be a little confusing but I only played around with it for 20 or so mins.

The only flaw u found is the joysticks can be a little tricky they don't seem to have the same sensitivity as my original controller. It seems to be a little less sensitive. I've gotten use to my other controller and I know how to move it to get everything I want. And it doesn't seem to be as consistent as this.

None the less I know I will just need more practice with the controller and it will be all good.

Final thoughts: if I could go back before I purchased it compared to another make I would have still bought this one :)

The customer service employees are excellent and the answered all my questions and comments promptly.

I spoke with Stephanie and she couldn't have done anything more to make me happy. She's a fantastic employee and I would order from this company again just based on my previous experience with her :)

Review of Project Gotham Racing

Project Gotham Racing
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
One of the best racing games available on any console, Project Gotham (PGR) improves upon the wonderful Metropolis Street Racer (Dreamcast) in EVERY way. PGR is extremely challenging, visually striking, and full of replay value and many modes of play.

First, gameplay. PGR features a mix of realism and arcade-speed in its handling that is beyond compare. I gave my brother a shot at a very tight track in NYC with a Porsche Boxster. He was doing fairly well--as far as he knew--after only a lap or two. He is a casual gamer who only plays sports games, baseball and Madden. So if he can handle it so quickly and so well, then anyone can.

BUT, then there are Kudos points, which you must earn by driving aggressively and with style. This my brother would need much time to learn, how to string together a tail-out slide through cone markers while passing two cars and avoiding walls at the same time...plus coming in 1st! Manage all this and you'll earn Kudos to open up new cars and tracks, even extra play modes, helmets, etc. Real skill is needed in this game, on many dimensions.

Now gameplay modes: you may be tasked with passing a certain number of cars in a certain time limit; beating a fast car one-on-one; earning a set number of Kudos on a track in a given number of time and laps (very hard); beating a specified average time; beating a specified single time, and more! In fact, after 5 hours of playing, the game will open up an entire new game mode called Medal Pursuit (in which the focus shifts away from powerslides to absolutely clean driving to beat a best time)! So much game!

Oh, and then graphics. The game is inarguably more graphically accomplished than even GT3 on PS2. For instance, cars in GT3 generally only have "paintd-on" bodylines such as at doors, hoods, trunks. In PGR there are so many more polygons used that you can actually see the sun reflect WITHIN the modeled bodylines! Superb.

PGR is flatly the best racer on the market for those who truly desire challenge, great gameplay, awesome music (including the ability to import your own from the hard drive), incredible 60fps graphics, and longevity. You will not be getting that Ferrari F50 until you've shown some serious mettle. A must-have racer for a must-have system.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Let me get this out of the way first:

This game is an arcade racer, not a simulation. As such the controls are based on the well-known "power slide" theme that is relatively common. For more realistic control and customization, look elsewhere (like Gran Turismo 3 or Tokyo Xtreme Zero for PS2).

Here is what you want to know:

Graphics: Excellent. At least comparable to Gran Turismo 3. Weather effects are beautiful and lighting is often amazing. Cars look beautiful and reflections are really well done. Some turns are hard to see at night, but then again what did you expect...

Sounds and Music: Many of the game's songs are actually pretty cool, but nothing compares to the ability of ripping your own CDs and listening to them while you play (which you can do here). No MP3 downloads though. Engine sounds are good too.

Control: Mixed bag. Personally, I like it. But if you ONLY like simulation-style control, don't even look this way. Cars will slide like crazy and if another car even touches you while you're "sliding" forget it, you're gonna spin. The difference between AWD, RWD, FWD and 4WD is hardly noticeable (IMO).

My biggest gripe here is the actual XBox controller which is as heavy as a small melon. It is the most uncomfortable controller I've ever held in my hands. You'll see what I mean when after an hour you're switching fingers for the trigger (accelerator).

Gameplay: This is where the game loses the most points with me... Cars must be unlocked, which is fine by me, but what you must do to unlock them is my problem. I mean, the game is already getting hard and I'm only up to 50,000 Kudos and they expect me to get 200,000 Kudos to get the F50!?!? Forget it.

Why do game designers keep making games in which you only get the best cars after you don't need them?

Plus, although I have no problem beating the actual races (Quick Race Mode), some of the cars are only earned by beating some points challenges that I simply don't get (Arcade Race Mode), I mean the concept is simple, but just you try to get gold in them.

One thing I really like is the fact that now Kudos (points) are never taken away (unlike the predecessor Metropolis Street Racing); if you hit a wall or another car, you simply don't get any extra points, but points earned are points kept. Another thing I liked is the fact that this game allows you to progress little by little (unlike GT3 and its 2-hour races) which is nice.

Replay Value: Pretty good until you get stuck. This game gets ridiculously difficult as you progress and chances are most people will not finish it.

Although I love racing games, this one is about more than that... And for you that may or may not be a good thing.

Bottom Line:

At least rent it. If you have it and don't finish it, don't feel bad as I can tell you for sure that most people won't.

Freebie Tips:

Since your competition is always adjusted to match the car you're driving, most of the pure races can be beat with the first car (the Mini).

Try this as your user name: nosliW (caps matter). It will activate all the cars and races.

Best Deals for Project Gotham Racing

Ok, for those of you out there that have been fortunate enough to either own, or play several different systems, or are hard-core enough to know what's hot or what's not, you probably know that the biggest baddest racing game on the market is GT3, for PS2 which is the newest installment of the Grand Turismo series. While I wasn't as addicted to GT3 as some get, I've got to admit that it deserves almost all of the hype it's received. When buying Project Gotham, there could be only one comparison, one game to beat: GT3.

While far superior in some aspects (I like to knock out complaints early), my biggest complaint about Gotham, especially compared to GT3, is the lack of cars, especially in the beginning. You only start with three cars, none of which are uber-cool or exciting. There should at least be more cars for multiplayer as it's a drag to pull the game out of the box all hyped to play with friends and have to choose from a mini-cooper and a MR5. With GT3, there was a huge selection of cars right out of the package for arcade or multiplayer games. I was so annoyed by this that I'm almost tempted to knock Gotham down a star, but the good things are so revolutionary that it survives well.

Some people will be annoyed with the lack of a "campaign" style game where you can buy and customize cars. I didn't find this too disheartening, as that's really a GT3 thing, and not something I expect with every racing game I buy. Gotham is much more of an arcade style game than a simulator. It's easy to overlook this one.

Ok, what's good about Project Gotham? Everything Else. If this is an example of things to come, we can expect some incredible racing games for the Xbox in the future. What PGR lacks in cars, it makes up for in some of the most detailed circuits imaginable. The incredible RAM and video RAM capacity of the Xbox means all the tracks consist of 3D models, with 3D statues hurling by at an impressive frame-rate. Buildings boast real signs and posters, and landmarks down to the barest details. GT3's cardboard cut out people and environments sometimes bordered on cheesy. Living in Japan I've been to Asakusa, Shibuya and Shinjuku and they've captured the landmarks and buildings perfectly. All that RAM also allows PGR to do something that always bothered me about GT3: show damage to the cars. That was always irritating. Winner: PGR.

The Dolby Digital sound is incredible. I only recently got the advanced A/V hook-ups, and this game roars on my surround sound system. While it has an impressive song collection already on the disk, PGR is the first Xbox game I've owned that allows you to use your own music copied onto the hard-drive. For another cool twist, you can choose to listen to the radio pre-sets, which include authentic radio stations from the various cities including real DJ's. Super cool. PGR has it all over GT3 in the sound category.

Fun. This game is extremely fun and addictive. The game play is strong for any racer, but the addition of a Kudos system: rewarding players for cool skids, two wheels, overtaking racers etc. adds a new dimension. While I thought it was cheesy at first, the arcade game, which allows you to run through a track solo strictly to collect Kudos, is a lot of fun. Trying to do outrageous turns and combos becomes addictive. I don't think I can honestly say that PGR is more fun than GT3, but I can say it's at least AS fun.

In the end, while I really wanted to be able to declare one the undisputed victor over the other, I really can't. PGR is far more sophisticated which is to be expected. GT3 has a depth and garage that PGR lacks. They're both a LOT of fun. If you can afford it, there's only one true solution: buy them both. If not, I'm a big fan of better, faster, stronger so I'd have to go with Project Gotham. Great graphics, great gameplay, great music, great cars, great tracks, great objectives. That can ALMOST sum up Project Gotham Racing. To make it a complete review, one cannot forget to mention how difficult this game is.

This could be one of the best racing games of all time if and only if the game developers would have made progressing to new levels and earning new cars a little less frustrating. I'm willing to devote time to my games but the amount of time you must devote to this particular game just to move ahead is a complete joke.

They made this game very difficult for gamers. I've played enough racing games to appreciate PGR but there are some annoyances that I can't ignore. I like a challenge, but I at least want a fair chance of winning. I'm not saying that the AI cheats but a lot of the time you're pitted against cars that just outmatch the cars you have available to you. The game just gets to a point where you MUST race a perfectly clean race to win. It's possible but chances are you'll quit out of frustration before you ever race that perfect race and win.

If you love racing games then PGR is a game to get but I just want you to know that no matter how good you are, this game will end up frustrating you. Not the frustration you feel when you mess up yourselves, but the frustration of feeling that the game just isn't being fair and the game is just asking way too much out of you.

The difficulty of this game prevents me from enjoying all the great stuff that's actually in the game.

BTW, the load times for this game are terrible. I don't mind waiting 5-10 seconds for loading but this game really tests your patience in that area. Just scrolling through available cars, there is load time. It's a petty annoyance but an annoyance just the same.

I'm sick of seeing this game get 1 or 2 star reviews. I've played both this game and Gran Turismo 3. They are BOTH great games, totally different but superb nevertheless. This game has great graphics and the kudos based racing just adds to the fun. As for the people that complain about having to unlock the cars, get over yourselves, it's called a _challenge_, people. How boring would it be to just have all the cars handed to you. There's several different racing formats, and the game rewards are based on your driving ability. I thought that's what racing games were supposed to be about. Bottom line is this: If you own an Xbox, go ahead and buy this game. You won't regret it.
