Look, on the whole privacy thing, unless you watch TV in the nude or something, I don't see what all the paranoia is about (but hey that's just me). Where I found this product to REALLY benefit is if you have a projector unit. The problem I was trying to fix was that I can set the projector to turn off if no activity for 10 min, and I can set the XBOX to turn off after an hour of no activity. This was so I do not wast precious light bulb life for my 100 inch projector TV. HOWEVER.... with the Kinect, if there is any motion in the room (such as rolling over asleep on the couch after a movie ended at 1am, 50 something min into the shutoff timer), the XBOX would register and the one hour shutoff timer would reset. This means that if the XBOX does not turn off, then the projector does not turn off either because it still sees a device active. So, yes I could throw a tissue or paper over the sensor, but that would look like crap. The aesthetically pleasing way was to buy this sensor cover and allow the XBOX to still work Netflix and such by voice commands, BUT not to register motion when it is not in a game that requires it. All in all, that really is the ONLY need for this guy. As a dust cover... me being a computer tech... I don't mean to ruin your dreams but dust WILL find a way.

Everytime I buy electronics such as cameras, cell phones, ipods, etc., I always buy a case or cover to protect them. It makes great sense to protect the Kinect from scratches, and it also provides an extra layer of security for my family. I was surprised that these weren't in the store when I bought my Kinect. Product was just as described. Fits perfect and looks great! Glad I found it online!

Fits nicely and will not scratch Kinect. Gloss black plastic looks good in most entertainment centers.

The best part is no more bright light+camera+laser in my face when I'm watching TV, and no accidental activation of gestures -it's certainly easier for me to just remove/replace the cover, than it would be to navigate through the menus to turn gestures off while watching movies. A flip-up cover might be nice to have, but hey this works just fine.
