The Game keeps you guessing at every level. You start out as beat cop and with every case you get closer to becoming a great detective. I would definatly recommend this game to all my friends and family. For it is a great intellectually challenging game. The graphics are clear and outstanding, the sound track is perfect for this type of game. So if you want to solve several great mysteries then you must play L.A. Noire.

Was expecting more like a GTA feeling, but was not at all like that. Too hard to get 100% on the missions, in terms of lies and truths and stuff.

I waited for a long time to get PAE1 discounted in the Deal of the Week program (It went for 50% off) on Xbox Live because 1600 points or $20 seemed like WAY to much to me for an Xbox Live Arcade game. I'm glad I did because I would have been pretty angry if I paid full price. If you are a veteran RPG player you will rip through this game in a few hours or so. Maybe it'll take you a bit longer if you're going for the achievements.

Pros:

Limited character creation, but your character looks great & is in every cut scene just how you made it. Has a very cool stylized look to it.

Fun & fast combat system once you learn how to block.

There are a lot of little details everywhere. Click and explore everything.

Easy 200 Achievement points for a veteran RPG player.

Cons:

Overpriced & much shorter than I expected. Beat everything in one play through and has ZERO replayability. Literally, it warns you before you beat the last boss that once you win it's over.

Before you learn how to time your blocks properly you will die, alot.

Lame story with a cliffhanger leading you to buy PAE2.

Not as funny as I thought it would be and is NOT for a child it has mature content & very strong language.

Overall, I enjoyed it while it lasted, but I'd say I was disappointed with PAE1 because it was so short and wouldn't recommend paying full price for it.

This is one of the most expensive games on Xbox Live, but it's worth the money. It's honestly better than some games that come on disk for $60. You don't need to be a Penny Arcade fan to enjoy the game, but if you are, the jokes will make you laugh out loud. The combat is fun. Make sure to learn the blocking!

People always complain about the price, as do I , so this review will pretend the game was free so the score will be unbiased.

Not for children. Thats my first advice because this game is full of F-bombs and sexual inuendo (and blood of course). I loved this game though, and thought it was very well written and made me laugh out loud a few times. The story content is interesting and humorous. The visuals are great and you easily get sucked into this game.

The gameplay was also great. It is a fairly fast paced RPG game in which you have to be always choosing options (attack/item etc.) and do it fairly quickly. The game is not hard, but it takes a little getting used to if you've never played a RPG before. You may die once or twice, but you pick up on it pretty quick. The only minor downside to the gameplay is the "explore" aspect. I say this because sometimes it is hard to "inspect" items as you can walk past them just ever so slightly and then you can't inspect them. You have to kind of circle your character around a bit until he is looking exactly at what you want, and it's easy to miss things this way. That part of the game made it a little tedious when trying to collect all the items, but not too much.

The achievements were also fun, especially the hardest one (I'll let you figure it out). It took me about 4 tries to get it and was fast paced action all the way with a lot of strategy. This game was a little shorter than I would have liked, but after playing through the game twice to get 100% of the achievements, I felt satisfied. I look forward to Episode 2 once I get some points.

Sorry, just played a demo so far, so this isn't much of a review. The biggest complaint is that it costs $20; I just wanted to say that on Steam, it's only $5. Well worth it!

Playseat Seat Slider Kit Reviews

Playseat Seat Slider Kit
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
No instructions come in this kit other than a sticker on each side that states: "Srew (sic) this side to seat with this end facing front" Like others have stated it is not all that apparent which way the Allen Screws face. With that said, it is only the total lack of instructions that keep this from being a 5 star product. It works as well as any car seat slider.

Here are some handy tips for install:

1) remove the seat via the 4 Allen screws (careful it will want to tip back when the last screw is removed)& place it up-side-down over the edge of your couch. (read step 10 now... I didn't, but you may want to...)

2) Push an allen screw in the end so that the threads hang over the elongated hole nearest the sticker end (front). The screw will not fall into place nicely, but if you just poke at it from the other elongated hole above it, it easily falls into place.

3) Put your Allen wrench in the screw to hold it in place as you line it up over the front seat hole. The metal tabs that hold the release bar should stick in toward the center of the seat, not out toward the sides, and if you can still read the sticker you have it up-side-down. The sticker should be facing the seat bottom.)

4) Screw it in only 1/2 way & then repeat the procedure for the other side. Tighten all screws after all are in place.

5) The release bar is held in place by it's own spring tension so all you have to do is line up a hole near the bar end to the single pin shaped metal tab and then compress it enough to fit the other hole over the tab on the other side, but be careful for 2 reasons... First, make sure you attach the release bar such that the bend tips down away from the seat bottom and not up towards it. (This gives you as much space as possible between the seat bottom and the release bar.) !!!AND SECOND...!!! It is very "springy", so try not to let it pinch your fingers!!! The bar should now be resting firmly between the double tabs and the single tab through the hole.

6) (Greasy Finger Warning) Before trying to attach the seat to the base see if you can use the release and move the slider rail forward a few inches, thus exposing the two front elongated holes. This may take 2 persons if it is a tight fit, but mine moved rather easily. Try to get both rails extended the same distance.

7) With the holes exposed you should be able to easily place the seat onto the base and drop an allen screw in each side. Place a nut on the bottom and tighten.

8) Now carefully slide the seat forward enough to expose the back 2 elongated holes and repeat the process.

9) I suggest moving the seat back to the center position (no rail sticking out either forward or back) and fit it to your body by moving the playseat's original adjustment (the main tube tightener) into your comfortable "playing" position. If many persons will be using it fit it to a middle sized person.

10) Why no locking washers? I don't know, but you could add them yourself or tighten the screws periodically. Happy Racing!

Pros:

Does exactly what it claimsmakes it easy to slide chair forwards and back to allow for friends/guests to use the seat. To use it, you sit on the seat, pull up on the handle and slide the seat forward and back.

Cons:

No instructions apart from the white stickers attached to the unit. So it is a bit of a brain teaser to assemble.

A previous reviewer provided an excellent set of detailed instructions for the assembly. It was a bit difficult to visualize the overall process, so I am supplementing that with the following less detailed overview of the main steps. Also I uploaded some pictures I took of the process of assembly as well as an assembly diagramHope this helps.

Overall steps then are:

1. Remove seat from metal base of Playseat.

2. Attach slider bars to bottom of seat. The labeled side should face the bottom of the seat and the arrow on the label should point toward the front of the seat.

3. Attach the handle bar. This takes some muscle doing. When attaching the handle bar, make sure it is angled downward relative to the seat, rather than upward or else you won't have enough clearance to pull up on the handle when you are finally sitting on it. See diagram.

4. Attach seat to the metal base of the playseat. This is trickiest and it will be easier if you had an extra hand to depress the handle bar when you are putting in the screws because you are going to need to slide the bars in and out to insert the screws. This is where you should read the former reviewers instructions for additional details. This is probably the least intuitive part of the assembly.

Additional tips: ignore the circular holes on the slider. You will only use the elongated holes.

Best Deals for Playseat Seat Slider Kit

When I got the Playseat I ordered all the accessory that appeared to make sense. Being able to slide the seat back and forth sounds like a cool thing.

Unfortunately the quality is pretty low. One side works, the other side is locked and only glides when using excessive force. My kids can't use it without me and even I have trouble getting it to work.

It also comes without instructions whatsoever. It's not a huge deal, I figured it out in 2 minutes but many will have trouble. The actual installation is not as easy at it seems, kind of tricky to get the screws in place.

But most of all it is not a necessary thing to have. The Playseat is designed to be very easily adjustable so the sliding seat doesn't really add anything. In reality you will have to adjust the pedals and wheel base anyways to make it work for a child.

Maybe I have a bad unit, but it's too much hassle for me to unmount it and pay for the shipping back to get a replacement which will cause even more time to get it in again. Either way, you really don't need it, it works just fine without it and even my 7 year old can use the seat without this slider.

Honest reviews on Playseat Seat Slider Kit

As others said, it comes with no instructions. Thanks to those provided instructions, and greater thanks to the person uploading the screw/nut diagram.

It works exactly like what you have in a non-powered manual slider in cars. If you are using for yourself, then you don't need this. But if have others trying it out, then you need it. Combine it with the standard adjustments on my Playseats Evolution, I can let me 6 year old boy who's 42 inch tall to reach the pedal!

If you have multiple players (kids and adults) playing on your playseat, this is a must have so that you don't have to change the settings for the pedals every time. We can set the seat for 7 years old kids up to 6"1 adults, so that's a pretty good range.

Mounting is a little bit annoying but straightforward (no instructions).

Short, boring, makes no sense sometimes. Uninteresting to bigger kids, too difficult for smaller kids. You can go through the game pretty quickly, and half the free play games don't even make sense. What a waste.

The game was a knock off version of Mario party. There are only 5 boards to choose from and once you unlock them there's nothing to do. You have no choice but to play against computer players who are all difficult to beat. The mini games in this game are either hard to beat or make no sense. Don't recommend.

You spend half your time waiting to play a game while the computer players play. The actual games you play are almost decent but you spend such little time actually playing them its not worth it. We played the game for about an hour, of that hour, we probably actually played games for about 10 minutes. The rest of the time was waiting for loading, watching the computers players play ( thats fun) and time spent on the game board rolling the dice. Do not buy. thankfully it just coat us a $1 at RedBox

Reviews of Test Drive Unlimited 2 - Xbox 360

Test Drive Unlimited 2 - Xbox 360
Customer Ratings: 3 stars

I will start off by saying I was a big fan of the first Test Drive Unlimited because it had a huge open world environment to drive around in, a big selection of cars, and good driving physics that were somewhere between arcade and simulation. The graphics in TDU weren't great but it was just plain fun to play.

Now we finally have the long awaited sequel and sadly it is not an improvement over the first TDU. Like the first game it's not intended to be a simulation racing game. I understand this and didn't expect it to be. What I did expect though was that they would have at least delivered the same if not a better experience. Unfortunately this is not the case. I feel it is fair to compare it to the first game because this is a sequel after all.

DRIVING PHYSICS:

This is my biggest issue with the game. In the first TDU each car had unique characteristics of speed, acceleration, braking, cornering ability, and an overall feeling of weight. It was not super realistic but it wasn't silly either, for example you couldn't make 90 degree turns at top speeds. It gave the feeling of speed but still you had to make sure not to go faster than the car could handle. This is simply not the case in TDU2. Most of the cars handle pretty much the same, poorly. There seems to be only a difference of speed, acceleration and braking between cars but they all handle about the same, and there is no feeling of weight. Among different cars in the same class they all corner about the same. Also doing almost anything can make your car spin out, even while traveling on a straight road. If you turn just a little too much you can lose control of the car. If you slightly graze anything you can lose control of the car. Sometimes though you can hit a wall at a sharper angle and it pops you right off it sending you on your merry way the direction you started. It's also hard to regain control of your car even if you fishtail a little, with each steering correction you make actually making it worse. I don't know why they did this to the driving physics and didn't just build upon what they had from the first TDU, or even just reuse it for this game unchanged.

GRAPHICS:

There is some better news in this department. The scenery and character graphics are actually improved over the first game. The islands really look nice and that makes it fun to explore. Your character looks a little better than the first game also although it's not stellar. The cars on the other hand look a little bland and flat. The cars don't really pop or look very shiny even when they are clean. Your cars now also accumulate dirt, dings and scratches too, which can be fixed by going to a car wash where some scantily clad ladies come out and wash your car by hand. Also you can just put your car in the garage or start an event it it pops back to pristine condition as if by magic. Overall for just driving around and exploring I would say the graphics are an improvement over the first TDU.

SOUND:

The sound is also a letdown. The engine sounds are certainly louder than the first game, maybe too loud. The car engines don't sound very realistic. You could drive a certain car in Forza than drive the same exact one if it's available in this game and easily tell the difference. Also when you run into things it just sounds like taking a metal trash can lid and smashing it against something, no matter what you run into. The off-road sounds aren't much better. Sometimes it reminds me of the sound of chewing on Grape Nuts cereal. The radio is kind of limited like the first game and the music is not particularly thrilling to me but that's a matter of taste. It's not like the first game had great sound either but this is not an improvement.

GAME PLAY:

This game concentrates much more on your character and other social aspects than the first game did. Besides being able to buy houses and clothing for you character you can now also visit a hair salon and get cosmetic surgery so you can completely change your look. Many of the same features from the first game are back such as races against other player in set spots around the island or instant challenges against people you meet in the game world by just flashing your headlights at them. Also there are clubs to form or join and club events just like the first game, as well as custom events you can set up.

The biggest change to the game though is the addition of off-road events and vehicles. This is the area of the game that I feel was the best change. These events can be fun and give you the ability to easily explore the countryside. You can purchase off-road vehicles like Hummers or Land Rovers. They handle differently off-road than on asphalt, which makes sense but once again they all handle pretty much the same compared to each other. The only real difference between the off-road vehicles is their speed, acceleration and braking.

As for the world itself it's pretty much the same as the first game. You can drive pretty much anywhere you want to and explore all you want. This was the charm of the first game in my opinion and why I liked it so much. TDU2 though now has two islands to explore, Hawaii again and now Ibiza. As for the events it's handled differently than the first game. Instead of unlocking events and then picking and choosing which ones you want to do in any order this game has a more linear feel to it. You have championship events that consist of a series of smaller events worth points, finish in first place in the end and you will unlock more. Also there are random events like the first game, such as picking up someone and driving them somewhere within a time limit. These events aren't permanent though and have a time limit on how long they are available, which can be seen in the map, before they disappear and new ones pop up elsewhere. This can be annoying if you haven't previously explored that part of the map because you won't be able to instantly start it, you'll have to drive there and may not get to it in time. Also your contacts will frequently call you, telling you to go somewhere or do something. Overall the game seems to want to hold you hand through the whole process.

BUGS:

Sadly, at least as of the date this review is posted, this game is pretty buggy. There have been some issues with the servers although that can be excused, at least for now, since a lot of games have this same issue at first. I have had issues with the leaderboards not working properly. When I first log in I will do an event and my name and position on the leaderboards will show. Then every event after that it won't work. My name and position do not show properly and if I scroll manually to the position where I should be my name isn't listed at all. I've also noticed issues with sound going out occasionally. This especially seems to be the case when going from off-road to asphalt and hitting some objects. The sounds will go out for a few seconds then come back. I have read there are also issues with trying to form or join a club, causing the game to lock up but I haven't experimented with this myself. Players are reporting other issues also, which you can read about yourself if you go to the game website's forums.

CONCLUSION:

Compared to the first TDU I'd have to say this game is a disappointment. It is better in some aspects, such as the scenery graphics and the addition of off-road content, but it is a big let down in the department of sound, bugs, and most importantly driving physics. The game is named Test DRIVE Unlimited 2 after all, with the main focus being on driving. Making the driving physics worse really takes a lot away from the game. It can be fun exploring the huge world, buying nice cars, houses and clothing (if you're into that), but just getting through events can be annoying with the clunky handling the cars have. You will have to retry events a number of times because your car so easily loses control. Overall it's not a worthy sequel and I had more fun with the first TDU, which is a superior game. If you loved the first game this one may really make you mad, so you may want to rent it before you buy. Unfortunately there is no demo as of yet on Xbox Live. If you've never played the first game and want a fun, open world driving game, find a copy of the first TDU instead of buying this one.

I gave the game 2 stars because of the horrible driving physics and bugs. They may fix these issues in patches someday but I have to rate the game in the condition it is now, not how it might be in the future.

I really did want to like this game more than I do. TDU1 was a lot of fun, and the concept is great. The feature list is impressive, too. More character and house customization, rain and night driving, two islands to explore, better graphics.

But the two things that make this frustrating are bugs and the difficulty of making money.

The bugs are pretty bad: servers down, clubs disabled, oh...and corrupting the game save. Yes, I started over from scratch after losing my saved game. Seems to be okay now, but I keep backups on a flash drive. I'm not totally pessimistic about this since patches will come out (check forums before buying for the status of these before buying).

My second gripe is the same problem that plagues GT5: not enough ways to make money. After winning the championships, you can't win the grand prize money again, and there aren't an overwhelming number of events. You can repeat individual races, but the most you'd get is about 20k. High end houses and cars are well into the millions.

The cars' handling is kind of goofy, but I don't hold that against this game. I don't consider this a sim and I've gotten used to it. It can be fun to do handbrake turns, and just cruising around is this game's best part.

One nice addition is the FRIM system. It helps you make a little money while just cruising around. You'll get a few hundred for near misses, drifts or jumps.

I'm still giving this game a chance, hoping it will get better as I collect enough money and cars over time, but since I don't have the hours in a day for the grinding needed I don't expect to have all the cars I'd like.

EDIT: Bumped up the rating to four stars. After playing for a while, I keep going back. It's fun. And most of the bugs that got me were patched.

Best Deals for Test Drive Unlimited 2 - Xbox 360

I Played TDU1 extensively and really enjoyed it. So much so that I pre-ordered the second version and could hardly wait for it to arrive. But unfortunately the second hasn't lived up to the legacy of the first. Annoying cut scenes and poor voice acting are forgivable in a racing game, but poor driving physics are not.

The first struck a good compromise between acessability and realism. TDU 2 fails to approach either and the cars handling is truly bizarre. they are on rails until you attempt to take a 90 degree corner at which point if any throttle is in the car will promptly fishtail. Ferrari or starter Mustang it seems to make no difference. All sharp bends must be taken at about the same speed. And funnily enough if you attempt to counter steer the car enters an uncontrollable tank slapper. It really doesn't matter how you enter the corner or apply the power. Also all cars seem to handle roughly the same. No real difference in a lightweight Italian hypercar and a lumbering Aston. No increased twitchiness or responsiveness, just a difference in cornering speed which equates roughly to their rating in the car dealership.

I'm not expecting Forza or GT quality driving dynamics. But something that resembles how a car handles would be nice.

It's a shame because the islands are beautiful and the online component is just as compelling as the first time around. But the core of the game, driving and racing is just poor.

If you are interested in this game I suggest sourcing a used copy of TDU1. You will be a lot more satisfied.

Honest reviews on Test Drive Unlimited 2 - Xbox 360

I became a fan of the Test Drive series after playing the first TDU game. An open world racer where you could buy any car, any house or change the look of your character in any way. The second game takes the first experience and expands on it.

What I like about TDU2 is that now you have access to two islands (Hawaii & Ibiza), your character and your houses are more custimizable. There is also more challenges and more cars for you to choose from, but what I like most about TDU2 is that anyone can pick it up and play it without being a ''hardcore'' racing gamer. I also like that it is a social game where you can invite friends with you on a joy ride or to your own house.

Unlike other racing titles, you don't need to be the greatest driver. In fact, you don't have to get involved in the main story arc (Solar Crown Championship), you could simply explore and admire the detail of the islands (can we say begining of virtual tourism?).

The only flaws I can think of is when I first bought it, my saved data was erased, but other than that, nothing unusual has happened. I also don't like that you're limited to what you can do within your own home. For instance, you can buy any home with a pool, billiards table or even a yacht yet you can't do anything in your home except walk around and sit on the couch, so what's the point of buying an expensive home?

Basically, Test Drive Unlimited 2 is like the first game only with more options. I have literally spent hours just discovering every road on Ibiza alone and have only yet to scratch the surface of Hawaii! So if you liked the first TDU, I don't see why you wouldn't like this one. And if you have never played the first one, I recommend trying TDU2 out anyway because I'm confident you'll get your moneys worth.

I really enjoyed the first TDU and so I've been waiting for TDU2 for quite awhile. When the release was postponed in the fall of 2010 for 6 months I figured that was okay and just waited it out.

Having played the game quite a bit over the past week I have to say that it is probably THE single most buggy XBOX game I have ever played personally. The number of times it has hung my console alone is kind of staggering. Add to that non-crashing issues like truly bizarre collision detection issues, horrible scenery pop-in, and multi-player glitches and I can't really say that I could recommend this to anyone as the game stands today. I shudder to think how bad it must have been six months ago for the original release date.

If you were a huge fan of the first game and have a LOT of patience for all of the problems in the game as it stands there's a lot to enjoy, but buyer beware on this one.

WWF: No Mercy
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

The most recent WWF game for the Nintendo 64 turns out to be the best yet. Improving upon the gameplay of last year's Wrestlemania 2000, THQ has updated the roster to include new characters such as Chris Benoit, Eddy Guererro, Trish Stratus, The Dudley's, and Kurt Angle, and character from the previous game now sport the current costumes. New match options allow you to compete in a three-way dance, a ladder match, or even brawl backstage in areas ranging from a boiler room to the arena parking lot.

In addition to the new matches, THQ has gotten rid of the Road To Wrestlemania from WM 2000 and replaced it with a more interesting championship mode where you choose the belt you wish to capture and a storyline develops based not only on your wins and losses, but also by the alliances you form with other wrestlers.

The gameplay is simple enough to allow a rookie to jump right in and have fun. No button combinations here to learn (like in the old Acclaim WWF Playstation games) just to do the simplest of moves. I guarantee that anybody will have the hang of the game in less than five minutes. It's that easy to jump into. And if you're a veteran, turn the difficulty up and you will be challenged by the computer.

Throw in the create-a-wrestler option, useful for creating anybody from Dude Love to Rob Van Dam to Kenta Kobashi, and you can play this game over and over again. Or at least until THQ releases their next WWF title for the N64. Anybody who is a wrestling fan should enjoy this.

Since I got this game fore christmas a few years a go I have played it again and again! I on average still play this game once a week usually more. It has good graphics considering everything, relase date, being on n64 everything. I made myself on the game and went throught the story mode for all the belts and just cant get enough of the game soo much fun, if you love wrestling and have played the other ones such as, wcw nwo world tour or revenge. then you will love this game for sure!! I am giving it a 5 star rating I plan on continually playing it for years to come. I make new wrestlers seems how thats really decent for this game, and use those wrestlers in different modes of game play for fun. but even the top superstars like kane, undertaker ,austin, hhh, are all fun to use no matter what game mode you play! Good multiplayer as well :)! please do buy it you wont regret it, unless you hate wrestling!

Best Deals for WWF: No Mercy

This is hands down THE best wrestling game for the Nintendo 64 game console. It's basically WrestleMania 2000, only taken to the next level. I give the all new Ladder Match a 10/10. There is nothing more fun than doing a move off of the top rung of the ladder. The Guest Referee match also gets a 10/10. If you don't feel like wrestling, go into this mode and referee a match, counting wrestlers out or counting the three count as fast/slow as you want. The 60 minute Iron Man Match gets a 9/10. It is very entertaining, but who wants to sit there for an hour getting fall after fall? And of course, you still have the exhibition matches, which include single match, tag team, triple threat, handicap, and cage matches. With new wrestlers such as the Radicalz, the new Undertaker, Lita, Rikishi, Trish Stratus and more added to the already impressive roster it will take a long time to lay the smack down on all them jabronis. But make no mistake about it, this game will keep you entertained for hours. I couldn't(and still can't) put it away! THQ should be proud of themselves.

Honest reviews on WWF: No Mercy

I own WCW vs. NWO world tour. There were alot of things about the game I thought they could change to make it better. I rented a few other games but none really satisfied me. Well, I rented WWF No Mercy and played it and I was amazed. First all the different matches you can have like a ladder, , a cage, iron man, royal rumble, etc. I wish it had a survivor series but it doesn't. Second, you could choose from multiple rings that look good. There are plenty of wrestlers and all of them have great looking uniforms. Also you can create wrestlers. You can buy clothes from the Smackdown mall and create wrestlers not on the game like Dude Love. There are also secret characters in the game. You can even buy some like Shawn Michaels and Ken Shamrock. The story mode is pretty fun. And some of the locker room brawls are great. If you are into wrestling games this is a perfect game. People who may not like wrestling should also check it out. This game should be owned by everyone.

Like I said in my title you do not have to watch the WWF to enjoy this great N64 title. True I was a fan of the WWF when I purchased this, but even though I do not currently watch it that doesn't mean this game sees no action. Similar in many ways to its predecessor "Wrestlmania 2000", "No Mercy" attempts to turn it up a notch. This time around many new features are included such as ladder matches, backstage fighting and more destructible object than ever. The roster selection is huge allowing a different type of wrestler for every different type player, and if that doesn't satisfy your needs you can head over to the well done create a wrestler mode and make your own. Career mode allows you to start a campaign for a title belt, which includes a different storyline for every belt. Multiplayer modes could not be better as up to 4 of you and your friends battle it out in multiplayer matches like royal rumble and tag team. This game is worth every penny and should not be overlooked by any wrestling fan or video game fan.

I had the pleasure of play-testing this game in its final weeks of development.

For starters, the game is based on the book and not on the New Line movie. As a consequence, you will find a number of story elements in the game that were not in the movie, such as the Old Forest, Tom Bombadil, and the Barrow Downs. The novel has been expertly translated into a 3rd-person action adventure, and there is a lot more action in the game than actually occurs in the book.

In this game, Middle Earth has been faithfully rendered (under the watchful eye of Tolkien's estate) by the talented 3D modelers, graphic designers, animators, game designers, and developers at The Whole Experience. The first thing that really struck me was the sheer beauty of the game -the score, the environmental details (run through a pile of leaves just for fun), the textures, the fluid character animation. Some of the more interesting elements of the book also shine in the game. For example, the sense of foreboding, fear, and deadly seriousness constrasted with the light-hearted nature of the hobbits. The Black Riders are quite intimidating, especially at first. And there are climactic moments in the Barrow Downs that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. The One Ring, of course, plays a large role in the game. When used, the world changes, becoming shadowy and revealing secret areas of the game. The tension between the advantages and cost of using the ring creates interesting tradeoffs.

The gameplay is 3rd-person, similar to the Tomb Raider series. When you are targeting something with a ranged weapon (like a rock or a bow and arrow), it switches temporarily to first person. In each section of the game, you play as either Frodo, Aragorn, or Gandolf. The three characters are substantially different in their capabilities. Frodo is presented as an agile hobbit with plenty of jumping, leaping, climbing, etc. He's not great in melee combat, but excels at thrown projectiles. Aragorn is an impressive warrior, as well he should be. Playing Aragorn is empowering, with a thrilling and deadly sequence of sword strokes that makes him the best at melee combat. Gandolf can also fight well with a sword, but his primary weapon is magic, and he's got a cool set of spells he can cast to vanquish his enemies.

Of course, the game is not only (or even primarily) combat. In addition to general exploration and adversaries, there are a number of well-designed puzzles to be solved. Some of them are potential stumpers, I suspect.

In short, there is nothing earth-shatteringly new from a gameplay perspective. Nevertheless, the game excels as a wonderful and emotive adaptation of a much beloved book.

JRR Tolkiens "Lord of the Rings Book 1 'The Fellowship of the Ring' storyline is closely followed in this Xbox adaptation (allows some Xbox magic with great sound track, music & above average graphics). The animation sequences between scenario runs are delightful with audio dialogue. The whimsical artwork used was nice, aimed at the younger audiences to reduce the blood/gore, slash/gash & the frightening darken minions of the Dark Lord.

That ends this great attempt to make a great game from the greatest fantasy trilogy of all time. Peter Jackson's movie trio lives up to JRR Tolkiens work with a few film adaptations to make each film a stand alone art form.

Summary; This game is best reviewed in the PROS vs CONS format to best describe the game players expectations of this XBOX game.

PROS The background music is awesome. The animation sequences of the characters is quite good (great transition between scenarios). The characters voices & dialoque are very effective to the story being told. The games storyline is true to the author. You can SAVE OFTEN (and you must!!!!).

CONS LONG & FREQUENT Game BOOT (loading) between scenarios. NO Middle Earth Maps to be used. NO mapping or auto mapping features (as in MORROWIND) (you must memorize quickly or die). This means NO REFERENCING for location. NO GOING BACK or EXPLORING. Limited Inventory features. THIS IS ONLY A CONTINUOUS SLASH/GASH GAME. You only play FRODO, STRIDER & GANDALF at specific check points (NO OPTIONS). (for example; Frodo from start to BREE. STRIDER from BREE to RIVENDELL etc. no other choices) LIMITED path advance (NO ROAMING as in MORROWIND). ONLY FRODO USES STEALTH. STRIDER & GANDALF MUST FIGHT or RUN or be KILL by EVERYONE (this is NON-STOP). Almost everything is resolved by killing, destroying or dying. (again only FRODO can use stealth). You must move quickly or die!! You must CONSTANTLY search for food, health & magic potions (this distracts the game player from reaching specific scenario goals). VERY FEW rest points to enjoy the game. CANNOT STOP or GO BACK AND EXPLORE MIDDLE EARTH!!

These are only the most frequent perks & annoyances while playing this game. It is to bad so much effort went in, the basic game is there, but the features are to limited to make this a [current price] must have Xbox library game. If you want detail, free roaming, the ability to be cunning, a great investment would be "MORROWIND".

I am truly disappointed in this Xbox games attempt to tell the "CLASSIC" JRR Tolkien "Fellowship of the Ring" story. See the movie, skip or rent the game. ENJOY.

To begin, this game is not for those who cannot problemsolve, by themselves. This is not a puzzle game, but you do need to explore in order to get to the next level. Unlike the second two movie-like games, this isn't a rambo style 'kill'em all game' but a true hobbit's game.

If you can get to this point in the review, you will probably like this game. It sticks to through the original chapters of the story, such as the Old forest, Tom Bombadil, Barrow Wights, and many othe small intricasies of the original Tolkien novel.

The warning, I say once again, is you need to figure things out on your own. Watch out for the shadow of the black riders!

Honest reviews on Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

This is the most miserable excuse for a video game I have ever played in my life. If you expect it to be anything like the movie your going to be let down terribly. Saying it follows the movie at all is a bit of a stretch. I beat the game in about 6 hours time. The loading time is too long and too frequent the only thing I found even slightly entertaining about this game was plugging a bad adaptation of the Cave Troll with arrows. The graphics were acceptable but with so many great games out it's not about the graphics as much anymore. The game play is slow and the character control is clumsy and annoying. There are no cool features or great weapons just a ton of mushrooms (life restoration) that you don't even need. I read some of the other reviews on this game and I swear those people must be getting paid hype it up because I laughed through there reviews. This is truely a testament to why you should always rent a game before buying it... I'm out to try Two Towers next but anything would be better than this game.

I recently had a chance to see the Xbox version of this game next to the PS2 and PC versions. All I can say is -the Xbox Fellowship of the Ring blows the other ones away. The environments are huge and on the Xbox there is no fog to prevent you from seeing all the way to the horizon. The graphics are sharper, the effects are more dazzling, even the in-game sound effects work in full Dolby Digital surround sound.

As for the gameplay, the Xbox version seems to have all the action of the PS2 and PC versions, but also adds some additional quest and puzzle-solving elements. This breaks up the gameplay and really fits the mood of the books.

For example, as Gandalf you will go from blasting Orcs with your powerful spells to deciphering a clever puzzle involving beams of light and rotating crystals.

Frodo can also fight, but has more of a platform style of gameplay -you can jump, push, pull, lift, carry, hang, shimmy, etc. Playing Frodo feels a lot like the Zelda games on the Nintendo 64.

And of course, with Aragorn it's all about kicking ... His devastating sword attacks combined with ranged bow attacks (with multiple arrow types -even flaming arrows!) make him the most satisfying character to play.

Definitely a good purchase for fans of the original books, as this version of the game has material that is not in the movie-licensed game from EA, including several levels in the Old Forest that include Old Man Willow and Tom Bombadil!

Got this game for my 5 and 9 year old sons who love Shrek and enjoyed the movie. The game is loosely based on the movie where Shrek is tricked into signing a contract to become an ogre for a day. When he realizes that he's been tricked he sets out with his trusted friends to get it back from Rumpelstiltskin. The game can be played with up to 4 persons and you'll play as either, Shrek, Donkey, Puss or Fiona. If you're into achievements though then you'll have to be signed in as the primary player as only the primary player gets the achievements. The game is pretty easy and fun for younger kids since you only really use two buttons throughout, A to fight and B for their special moves. You occasionally use the X button when you pick up power-ups but they aren't necessary. You'll be fighting witches, trees and the usual bad guys found in the movie.

You may have to help out the younger ones with a few of the puzzles, like the ones in Dragon Keep, the Catacombs and Rumpelstiltskin's Castle. The main bad guys, Fairy Godmother, Pied Piper and Rumple are actually pretty easy to beat and the kids enjoyed beating them on their own. The music while fighting the bad guys are also catchy and you might remember a few of them from Shrek 2 the movie. The voice overs are also pretty good and some of the sayings will make you laugh.

I give this game an A for family fun. It's finally good to have a game where the entire family can play.

Are they serious?

After Madden 2007's animation, animation, animation, fall over experience, I couldn't bring myself to buy 2008. I bought 2009 because a friend told me how much better it was. After all 2008's complaints about how easy offense was, they turned the DB's and LB's speed and jumping ability to ridiculous levels, causing there to be about 6 INT's per game. This knee-jerk reaction and thus, overcompensation each year to whatever the largest complaint was has always seemed par for the course when dealing with a Madden game. Whatever. I just want to play an NFL game.

So the Madden 10 demo came out and I was impressed by the game play. "Wow, it actually kind of looks like football," I said. So I did it. I dropped $60 more into the EA bucket just to have the privilege to play an NFL game. The game play this year IS, I uphold, the best, most realistic that the Madden franchise has ever made. Yes, they made the players slower, and it made a lot of fans mad, but it's realistic. Nobody runs 10 yards in 0.5 seconds. At any rate, kudos on the in-game experience.

However, I play sports games to play franchise mode. I like trades, free agency, and the draft. Unfortunately, due to EA's desire to become the most evil corporation ever, franchise mode is not, at ALL, an enjoyable experience. You see, the "Madden Shop" has been created, where you can buy "cheats," which are really just parts of the game that existed last year which were disabled so that EA can make more money.

-You want the ability to fully scout players? You can pay 99 cents for a scout at EACH POSITION. Awesome. I'd LOVE to throw down 10 more bucks just to have access to the rest of your game.

-You want players to progress faster? 99 cents per position.

-Superstar mode is the same. You can't train anymore. You can pay to improve.

-Pretty much anything you can think of... healing injuries faster, extra scouting reports, etc, you can pay 99 cents to improve.

Really, EA? Buying out the competition wasn't enough for you? This whole system seems like such a joke to me. Do they honestly think it's going to work? I guess the question is, are Madden fans really stupid enough to use the Madden Shop?

This will, I can say with confidence, be the last Madden game I purchase.

It's hard to understand what happens on the Madden development team, because every year it seems like they change the game in new and completely unnecessary ways. This year, the menus have been changed for seemingly no reason. The new menus do not look as good as the menus in Madden 09 and are harder to use. Why change them? You'll ask yourself questions like that a lot with this version of the game if you played a lot of Madden 09.

If the last few entries in the Madden series did not exist, then this version would probably impress me much more. As other reviewers have noted, it seems that almost nothing has changed in core gameplay except for a few mini-game button mashing sequences. The reason I am only giving this game 3 stars, though, is that other parts of the game that contributed to my enjoyment in past versions have been changed or stripped out without reason. The playcalling menus are now harder to use, particularly in terms of substitution packages. You no longer have the ability to train players, making the preseason almost completely pointless and taking a way a fun weekly activity in the game to keep the franchise mode moving forward. Little changes like this may mean nothing to some gamers, but for me make this game less fun and compelling than last year's version. On top of that the presentation has not improved the game feels rough around the edges, there are bugs, the play-by-play remains terrible, etc. I wish I could return it.

I should note that I do not play online, so this review is not intended as a reflection of that mode. As a single-player experience, Madden 10 is one step forward and three steps back for those who play every year. If you don't have anything to judge it against, it's probably a pretty satisfying football experience. If you own Madden 09 and play primarily single-player, this is a roster update at best. Very frustrating given the strong work that some of the other EA Sports development teams have done with their franchises.

For me, my love/hate issue with Madden has been that it has never produced a game up the the quality presentation of the 2K5 game. I have always complained bitterly that they bought the NFL and ESPN licences and never used them properly. If yo don't believe me, then check my past Madden reviews. After almost 5 iterations on the 360, EA finally sees the light and has produced a good quality game.

Control You play one Madden, you have played them all nothing new here.

Graphics Stadiums are rendered nicely as always with great lighting...a little more attention has been paid to the helmet reflections, however most of the faces on the players look busted as always.

Sound a big improvement on the overall crowd sound as now you can hear individual voices call out during the game....something 2K series has done for years. On the other hand the commentary from Hammond and Collinsworth still sounds (and uses lines) from last year with some of the phrases that repeats (especially the one about the WRs catching the balls in pitch black) but again, I will take this over ESPN radio any day!

PresentationKind of a mixed bag but I am liking it more than I hate it. While EA finally gave you a feel like you are watching the game with all of the nice cutaways to the crowd and facts...a few things still needed to be fixed in order for this to be the complete game that 2K5 is.

Halftime show improvements Ok ok...yeah we finally got one but how about doing a Chris Berman-esque voice over as the best plays are being replayed...worse yet how about all of the highlights are out of order?

The pregame show Thank you for putting it in!!! But guess what EA!! Another 2K5 steal that you dropped the ball on! When showing highlights from other games...SHOW.HIGHLIGHTS.FROM.OTHER.GAMES. if a 6 year old game can show you 1 or 2 plays from another game or even from my own, then you guys should be able to do it too! Also get rid of Alex...I am sure there are more people male or female that can act as if they are in the game better than her!

I do like the fact that the AI is more active in signing players and making sensible signings, nothing like going thru a whole season and seeing the free agency just be static.

Ahhh yeah!! before I forget, the tackling animations look a lot more realistic and so far I have seen 4 5 and 6 man tackles. Slightly glitchy in a few spots but otherwise it's a step forward.

Franchise mode has improved with team actually signing some players that were needed instead of going a whole season with many free agents just sitting static on the FA wire. Also you can't really rob the AI out of trades and draft picks as in earlier versions

Some of the little things that I have seen that makes the game a little more worthwhile:

the chain gang

refs getting run over

refs meeting and confirming the TD

players being carted off after an injury

so far 3 different crowd screens

coaches arguing with refs about penalties

players clowning around on the sidelines.

better crowd reaction to plays

** Added **

Gameplay

To ME...gameplay hasn't changed all that much as far as AI and skill, you are either good at this game or you suck...just my opinion

There are more varied player animations this time around and thankfully so far not a lot of repeat animations although as perviously mentioned you may get a really funky animation glitch but not so bad as to crash the game

Accuracy of the stats... it depends on how YOU play the game and the time that you set it for.

Is there a lot of gang tackling? NO...every tackle is NOT a gamg tackle but you do tend to see more defenders play towards whomever has the ball. It does look more realistic.

Fight for the Fumble...i have only had it occur exactly 2 times...cheap...and arcadey and I believe actually, you can turn it off.

In game ticker: Nothing makes you play a little harder than seeing how well other teams are doing throughout the course of your game...it's till not here EA...fix this!!!

So, really this isn't the year to be skeptical. It's improved a lot over the last 2 iterations but still has a few more steps now to go before it completely makes me forget about 2K5.

And actually, when all is said and done, it's really sad when you still can compare a new football game with a game that is 6 years old and last gen.

On a larger scale of 1 to 10 I would give this an 8.

Addenum: Buying cheats? EA...bad move...

Will I have to buy Michael Vick too?

Honest reviews on Madden NFL 10 - Xbox 360

but I did anyway. Every year the Madden hype machine gets to me and I go and buy the game. I loved it on the XBOX, and I kind of enjoyed Madden 2008 on the XBOX 360. Sure, Madden 2008 was full of glitches, but showed lots of promise and was lots of fun to play. I figured the 20th anniversary 2009 version was going to fix the major bugs and be the best Madden yet. Instead, there were even more bugs and major bugs from 2008 weren't even fixed.

After a playing 2009 for a while and having played every Madden gaming since 1994, I finally realized that EA Sports was not focusing on the gameplay, but on adding snazy features and improving the graphics and animations. And not only were they no focusing on the gameplay, but they were totally neglecting it. The other day at work, we lost power and had a half day, so I figured that it was the perfect time to go get Madden 2010 even though I promised myself I wouldn't buy it. And wouldn't you know, the gameplay is even worse this year. They added fight for a fumlbe, which is idiotic, and lots of annoying cut scenes that can't be skipped. Hopefully I will remember this and not buy the Madden 2011 version because Madden is officially done.

this is the first madden i've bought for three years, but i have played the other ones with friends. this is definitely the best Madden i've played.

PROS:

Controls --Great controls, just needs 2 or 3 games to fully master

Presentation --the new pro-tak system is great, but it is kind of hard to understand how one running back could get by nine huge fullbacks shoving at him at the same time. new "fight for the fumble" mode is fun to use. the Animations are stellar, and the new lighting effects are great too, with shadows being projected onto other players.

"Everything you would see on sunday" --it really is cool,it feels like you're actually watching a sunday afternoon football game. the fans are much more into this game.

Co-op --a lot of fun to play with one of your buddies. My only complaint is that co-op can only hold two players. i do not think that "not wanting to screw up our first time doing this, we only added two player support for co-op" is a valid excuse, but it's still fun.

Gameplay --pretty much the same as Madden 09, a few tweaks here and there, it's still great. the hit stick only adds more and more fun as they add new things onto it.

CONS:

The Extra Point --a cool little feature, but doesn't really add onto the game.

Commentating --one of the worst things about this game. Chris Collinsworth at least tries to do well at commentating the game, but the other commentators are absolutely horrible. it sounds like EA brought in a version of Microsoft Sam and just used that as their commentator. the commentating has never been THAT great in any sports game, but it's never been this BAD either.

Do not expect this to blow your mind. it's still same old madden with a few changes, but it still has a lot of the same problems. they took away all those brand new things, like that little Madden 09 skills test you took at the beginning of the game. they went straight back to the basics. it's not so much a bad thing, but i'd like to see them take a risk but perform well with it.

now, you may be thinking "Hey, this review is baloney! he only had two complaints about it and he only gave it three stars!" but there is one thing that really, really, ticked me off about this game. EA has been bragging about their new online franchise mode and how great it is. i'm sure it would be pretty fun. too bad i haven't played it. do you want to know why? because it costs MONEY. it says on the back cover, talking about the new online franchise mode, and its not even an actual PART of the game until you buy it. that, quite frankly, is RIDICULOUS. i pay enough as it is to buy these games, but no, they have to add on an extra 10 bucks or so. EA must be losing a lot of money (which i believe they actually are). well, now they're going to start losing a lot more money this year with their new money buyout scheme. Online franchise isn't the only thing you have to buy. if you want your player or team to rank up quicker on a harder mode, you can buy an upgrade, a dollar PER PLAYER, to get your team or superstar to rank up quicker. that's, well, no comment.

this game is pretty fun, but, unless you have that extra 10-20 dollars, it won't be worth as much to you. overall, it was a big leg up from last year, but still not as good as it should be.

This game was amazing. A cinematic masterpiece. I am a college student and borrowed this game from my younger brother, who hated it. I played it in my friends' apartment. After 5 minutes of gametime, we had 12 people sitting around the television completely hooked. The storyline was incredible debates among us were constant as to the next twist in the plot. The graphics were incredible, especially in the movie scenes... they rival the PS2 graphics EASILY. The fighting system takes some getting used to, but is very easy once you get the idea. The characters really start to rub off on you right away (Yells of "NOOOOOOO" were constant when we thought one of the characters would die... we honestly became attached!). So to put this whole synopsis into a single line: buy this game. If you're under the age of say 15 or so... don't it gets really tough. However, for the rest of us, it's a definate must have. The replay value is great, too I've played it three times already, and I'm STILL not tired of it!

...and I still have the game in good condition. When i first bought my playstion, this was the frist game i played, hence the first RPG i ever played. I got it cause my friend said its good, and i saw the commerical (the one with the helicopter and the slime and Aya) and figured it would be good. Thank god i was right. Let's get into the battle system:

Now THIS is the meat of the game, for the most part. For me, in some games, I think that the battle system is the potatoes in an RPG. If its good, then you won't be bored. No, I will not compare this game to Final Fantasy or its sequel. This is Parasite Eve review, not my turn to play fan-boy. Your midocondria (i think) gives you powers. Like heal HP, Haste, Detox, and attacks. Your PE will we restored slowly in battle. While its restoring you can dodge your enemys attacks, and counter attack when your AT bar fills up. AT is active time, where a lil bar fills up depending your level and when its full you attack. And you can't attack just anywhere, mind you. You have a grid that is your range. Enemy out of range (grid) you will miss. Easy, but will keep you on your toes, and will be hard because you have usally more than one enemy to deal with.

Now THIS is the meat of the game, for the most part. The Story is Amazing. Just too short, but got me glued to my TV set. I will not say anything bou the story cause you already know by other reviews.

The sound is good, not great. Primal Eyes (the theme song) is geat with its fast paced piano solo.

Your ganna be hooked on this game, and will want to know what the title, Pasasite Eve, really means. You will know soon enough.

Like i said this game is great and its my first Playstion game. Now i own most of the final fantasy i own both chrono games, and i have a vast libary of Rpgs, and all because of this lil game. And it wasn't Final fantasy VII that got me hooked.

It was Parasite Eve.

Best Deals for Parasite Eve

Parasite Eve's best feature is probably the story. It's hard to put down. You really want to play as long as possible just to see how the story will reveal itself. I like this one better than Parasite Eve II. The second game has better graphics, but you lose the ability to customize/modfiy your equipment. Setting up your own unique equipment is a huge factor in enjoying the game. Too bad the game is a little bit short. But you can got through it a second time. It's actually better the second time around, even though the monsters get tougher. You can allocate more bonus points and effects to your weapon to compensate somewhat. I highly recommend this game. Especially to someone new to this type of game. Moving Aya around in this first game is a very simple task, unlike in PEII. The story is so involving that you would become a big fan of RPGs.

Honest reviews on Parasite Eve

I'm thirty-one years old and I usually play nothing but RPGs, such as the Zelda series, the FF series, Chrono, Breath of Fire, etc. Started playing this one because my teen-age brother forgot to put the CD back in the case and left it in the playstation console by mistake. Have to say I got hooked immediately.

Story plays out like a movie, and the dialogue sounds like something real people in the 20th century will actually say. Though other folks may find the game too short, it was actually one of the things I liked about it, since I have to work and don't have hours to spend in front of the playstation. Some people may also compare it with survival horror games such as Silent Hill or Resident Evil, but I think this game isn't as creepy (just for info, my measure of a game's creepiness is totally subjective and depends on whether or not I can play it at night when I'm all by myself :).

The pacing of the story is just right, just enough to hook you in so that you'll want to know what happens next. Beating the game once also enables you to play in ex-mode, where you can enter another area and find out a little bit more about Aya. In addition, the game allows you to carry over stats or features from previous weapons and armors so that, if you're obsessive about perfection, like most RPGers I know, you end up spending a lot of time customizing in order to get the best possible weapon & armor.

Battle system is nice too, kind of like dothack (where you can run around the enemy and essentially pause the game while you bring up the menu and choose what you want to do next) but without the camera whiplashing around like crazy. Good music as well. Overall, a good buy.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Parasite Eve

Parasite Eve is one of the creepiest games to ever come out on a console. No, it's not "horrifying" like Resident Evil where zombies eat your flesh. It's more of a psychological horror game, or the Alfred Hitchcock title of the gaming world. Just forget about the pseudo-scientifical chatter that ensues during the game. The point is, it is the best script and storyline to happen to the gaming world. Who would have thought up the idea for mitochondria taking over New York City? It's awesome for a game to come up with an orginal script like this. Also, the game operates like a movie, with many plot twists and a well-written story. The CG's are awesome, and the environments are cool, even if the graphics are a little off. There is no better setting than a nearly-empty New York City! And finally, Eve is one of the coolest video game characters ever created by Squaresoft, the makers of Final Fantasy. Overall, any RPG lover or a horror game fan will enjoy Parasite Eve, at least while the excitement lasts! My Rating-9.6!

Let me just start off by saying that this game is a rental, not because it plays poorly or is full of bugs, but because the single player story is under 5 hours long. That's right laddies and gentlemen, it took me under 5 hours to beat this game. It is absolutely abhorrent that the developers/publishers are getting $60 for this. If anyone else out there is like me, just based on the shear irritation I experienced upon finishing this game in under 5 hours, I will more than likely not play through it again. I bought this game because I enjoyed the first game (even though it was buggy and full of little technical issues), and that it took me a couple of days to finish it.

Now on to the performance of the game. The shooting mechanic is vastly improved in this game, and the cover system works perfectly. About 99% of the game runs beautifully at a very constant frame rate and the action blends nicely into the ongoing dialog the two characters, Kane and Lynch, carry on throughout the game. Also, I actually enjoyed what they did with the camera, making it look like the entire experience was recorded.

So in closing, if you really, REALLY want this game, go ahead and throw $60 out the window. But if you can be patient, and learn from my horrible mistake, either rent it or wait for the price to come way down.

Kane & Lynch 2 demonstrates what happens when a development team tries to form an entire game around one glimmering fragment of a good idea.

The story is almost non-existent. It's Mario Bros. Two guys fighting their way through each level, trying to rescue the girl. That's it. It, obviously, continues with the same two irredeemable and unlikable lead characters from the first game that one feels no connection to or interest in.

Also, like the first Kane & Lynch, it tries far too hard to be edgy. As a fan of cleverly applied foul language, I'm put off when a game is so blatantly trying to appeal to twelve year old boys with excessive use of the 'F-word'. It comes across fake and insincere and patronizing.

It has one note of gameplay. You run through hallways shooting people, until you get to the other side. Then a new level loads and you shoot through another hallway, shooting more people. Four hours later, the game is over.

Many have rightfully complained that while length is not everything, it's hard to justify a full retail price for a four hour game. I agree, but I also would not have wanted to sit through another four hours of the same tiring, boring, monotonous action. In fact, I started looking forward to the end arriving, by about the third hour.

Multiplayer has potential, but falls flat. Part of that is due to the poor matchmaking, which seems dated. You'll spend a lot of time waiting in lobbies for people to join and games to start. The loading screens between games, joining lobbies, leaving lobbies, returning to lobbies from games are lengthy and a bit frustrating. There also isn't any host-migration, which has come to be expected in modern multiplayer games. This results in a _lot_ of prematurely ended games due to the host dropping out. I tried playing Cops & Robbers for four hours last night and I never completed a game. Cops and Robbers is four rounds long and in every game over those four hours, the host left before the third round.

The concept of the multiplayer in this game is interesting, though. I'd like to see someone expand on the idea and execute it much better. It could use some polish and definitely could use more maps (there are five or six, I think though it feels like only three). There are three additional maps, but you only get those if you pre-ordered the game from certain retailers. Even then, you only get ONE of the three locked maps; not all of them. If you ordered from Amazon, you got a special assault gun, instead of any maps. I believe that you can play on those maps if the host has the map, but I have not come across any games where that is the case. You also can't buy the maps as DLC.

There is also a Co-Op mode. It's nothing to write home about. It's just the single player game, but with the other person playing Kane. So instead of one player falling asleep with their finger constantly yanking the trigger and pushing forward through the path, someone else can suffer along with you.

All that said, Kane & Lynch 2 does a couple things right. First, while the graphics often look very dated (especially the faces and animations, if you stop and watch Kane running around) -the "camera man" filters they apply cover it up. In fact, the effects they apply can be absolutely stunning and go a long way toward improving realism. (Of course, there is never any explanation for why some guy with a camera is following two murderers around with a camera, risking getting himself killed by stray bullets the entire time, and witnessing to countless crimes by these crooks). Still, the effect is very cool.

I also like that the game, except for frequent long loading screens, has a bit of a "one long tracking shot" feel to it. Think of the scene from Children of Men, but much longer. If they could have found a way to stream-load the game, instead of having loading screens, it may have been memorable for presenting that sort of "game starts at point A and goes to point B and you never stop at any spot in between" experience.

So, in conclusion, Kane & Lynch 2 is a one-note game with a couple intriguing elements that belong in a much better game. I suspect this game will appeal to the same kind of mindset that gets off on all the weed references in Modern Warfare 2 or buys Bayonetta just because it features a naked chick in a "hair suit" standing in stilettos. These people probably wouldn't even realize they're being patronized, though.

For everyone else I suspect they will find it boring and repetitive and wish they'd spent their money elsewhere (even despite the couple of interesting elements that could have had potential). Rent it or pick it up at no more than half of retail price. Otherwise, skip it.

It really seems like IO Interactive had a brainstorming meeting and they came up with one good idea that had enough content for one level of the game and that was the last brainstorming session they ever had, until the game was released. As for why they spent so much time making so little game? There seems to be no explanation for that.

Best Deals for Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days - Xbox 360

The other day I was reading an interview with a game developer who said he wanted to work on a game with sensibilities that echoed the movie Heat [Blu-ray], because no one had done it yet.

First things first. When people fantasize about a "Heat"-esque game, I'm sure there's only one thing that comes to mind: epic street-level shootouts involving scads of ammo, automatic weapons, cops, shattering glass, screaming pedestrians and duffel bags slung over the shoulder. I'm pretty confident no one wants to play a "Heat" game that revolves around your ruined relationship with your wife and stepdaughter, or meetings in diners with arch-rivals.

If we can agree on that, then I'm here to tell you that Kane & Lynch 2 is as close as you're going to get to a Heat-esque experience in the gaming medium. The entire single player story is one brutally violent street-level shootout after another, while the multiplayer modes masterfully evoke the tense feeling of being in a gang of like-minded criminals who will do anything to go home with a bigger cut including killing their teammates in cold blood.

Kane & Lynch 2 also inhabits its own game space with the kind of confidence few games can manage. That is to say, everything is of a piece and seems the result of a singularity of vision so rare in these times when games seem content to come to you, when it should be the other way around. So few games challenge players to really accept things on the game's level also see Dead Rising, Bioshock and Demon's Souls Greatest Hits.

Because of this, many people have criticized elements of the game as flaws that are actually deliberate design decisions including the woefully inaccurate weapons you start the game with, the briefness of the story mode, and the nausea-inducing camera. That's not to say the game isn't without its flaws. It's loaded with them. But if you can get past them, you'll enjoy it for what it is, not what you want it to be.

Two caveats: One I did not pay full retail for this game. It's been out for nearly 8 months, so I picked it up on the cheap. This may color my opinion somewhat. Two online communities are notorious rovers, and due to the fact that this game underperformed at retail, it's kind of difficult to find a lively online game with any consistency at this point. Still an enjoyable experience though.

Honest reviews on Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days - Xbox 360

theres a Few things this game did right. the Atmosphere of China is just Beautiful and realisticly done...even Breathtaking at times..the best i have seen in a video game...and shooting through the city streets and buildings is suprisingly Fun. shooting it out in Arcade mode with the A.I. is fun as well...and the game overall has a great Flow to it just like K&L1...but the story mode and its levels are BORING and tedius. i feel like its so Bad, this game shouldnt have had a Story mode at all...

this game should have focused on the Heist theme that the Multiplayer and Arcade modes are based around and expanded on it. they should have invested their time into making about 20 Good Levels filled with Guards for players to blaze through with A.I. or Co-Op, steal money and valuables and try to get away...and with the Money you make, you could buy outfits, masks, guns, vehicles, hideouts and so on...overall, focusing on your CAREER as a criminal mastermind. maybe have it so that if one of your Crew members dies during a heist, hes gone Forever...and youd have to buy a new member to your team or continue through the levels 1 member Short. this would have been 1000 TIMES MORE FUN than the horrible story mode.

also, what is up with having to pay for content thats ALREADY IN THE GAME??? some of the guns were visably shown as Locked...which means they are Already In The Game...yet i have to PAY ACTUAL MONEY to unlock them??? i just dont think this makes any sense at all...

as far as buying this Full Price, i would NOT...i was able to get it for 1/4th the full price...and for THAT, the multiplayer is well worth the price...

i'm so glad that i rented this title because i beat the game in 6 hours. The first reviewer is right when he said it took him 5 hours to beat it. it took me 5 hours to get to the 2nd last mission before i went to bed that night. the next day it took me about 30 min-1hr to beat the last one.

the game is REALLY fun, and very addictive to play. i love the weapons in it. so much better then Dead Men to me. shooting is much better in this one, then dead men.

i found the graphics to be a bit grainy though.. not too top notch like some other titles. that bothered me for about half of the game, before i got use to it.

this game really deserves like 3 stars from me, but i am giving it 4, cuz i had alot of fun playing it, but i beat it really fast... so i am glad i only spent $6 to rent it and play it. i got 4 days on rentals, but i only needed 2. returned it.

i wish there were more missions or harder ones. after i beat a game, i see no further reason to really keep it around. i have a 360, so i don't play online. (i don't want to pay). if i had the pc specs for this game, i would buy it and play multiplayer online. i'm sure that has to be fun. i don't own a ps3 either yet, so i don't know what multiplayer is like for this game. but if multiplayer is as fun as the game is, then i would buy it to play online.

for those of you waiting to play it out there, DEFINITELY DO NOT PAY $60. DON'T DO IT! NOT WORTH IT!. Not even worth $20. just go rent it. trust me, you'll thank me later, especially ppl who are like me and the guy above who can beat games in like 5 hours or less... and note, usually it's very rare for me to beat a game same day i get it..but dog days is so fun to play i got addicted to it, and i think that's how i beat it so fast.. cuz i was playing it all the time, and it is easy.

just go rent the title. if it does take you longer then 4 days rental time to beat it, just re-rent it.

This game is a neat idea, and it has been encouraging me to walk more. For me having something that tracks my activity is a motivator. When you haven't completed the 3000 steps a day (user adjustable at any time, 3k is default, but if you continually surpass the daily goal the game will suggest raising it) the pedometer blinks red, making me feel like I need to get out there and walk. Yesterday I went for a walk when I never would have before. So the game is nice if that sort of thing can motivate you. I would think if you have someone in your family to compete with it would be an even bigger motivator.

The little games are ok. Walking 10K steps gets you a picture. As you walk more the picture slowly fills in like a connect the dots kind of thing. It gives you hints as the picture fills in, and some of them are very hard to guess, obscure things. You can also see your daily activity in graphs, but it would be a lot more interesting if the pedometers worked better. Since the meters only register activity of at least 10 seconds, it doesn't count all those quick walks across the house or office that can add up.

The pedometers seem to be well built and tough. 4.5cm x 3.75cm and about 1 cm thick. A little light flashes red when you haven't met your target and green when you have. It shuts off by itself and the manual says the battery will last about 6 months with normal use. There is a large button on it used to sync it with the DS. Syncing is usually very quick and easy, you press the button for one second and it's done. I occasionally get an error and have to try again though. Never an issue though.

After syncing it runs through your day making little comments like "This is the earliest you have started this month" or "This is the longest walk you have ever gone on." It then compares your walking to an animal which usually seems pretty inaccurate. I went on an hour long walk in the day, but had a lot of short walks around the office in the evening. The game said I was very active in the evening although I had a huge block of aerobic steps in the day (aerobic=activity over 10 minutes).

The game also gives you a mini goal for the next day like do some stretching or cut fats out of your diet. When you sync the following day and tell it you are done for the day it asks if you completed your mini goal. Nothing happens if you do or don't, I guess it's just an encouragement to think about what you do and eat.

Each pedometer comes with a clip for attaching to your pocket. You need a small screwdriver to attach the clip. I have not yet used the clip myself and not sure if I will since putting the meter in my pocket is easier. Seems to work well loose in a pocket. It also has a place to attach a lanyard, although I have read that if it can swing on a lanyard you will not get accurate results.

At first I thought most of my steps weren't registering due to walking barefoot, something the manual warns against. But after further reading, as I said above, it only registers activity of over 10 seconds. I was seeing great lengths of inactivity, that were inaccurate because I was moving, but it was inconsistent movement so it didn't register. The game was saying I didn't move for 2 hours, which wasn't true. Stop and go stuff won't register. It did seem to log jogging even though the manual said it may not be accurate. I am not sure if it was accurate or not (It did not give me an error message as another reviewer has stated, I will try again at a greater duration and see what happens and change this review if necessary). I also ran in place for a few minutes and it logged that fine.

For walking outside on the road at a steady pace I found it to be quite accurate. I walked at the same pace for 20 minutes and the graph for those 20 minutes was even for the whole duration. No spikes or drops. I walk at a fairly brisk pace also, and the game had no problems with it.

A major drawback for me is that there is no off button on the pedometers. I cycle to work sometimes and with a pedometer in my pocket all the shaking it gets from the road registered thousands of steps. If the pedometer is lying horizontal (for instance in a bag on the bike's rack) it isn't supposed to register as well, but it still does register some. Not as much when it's my pocket though. So unless I have a place to lay it somewhere flat on the bike, it greatly skews the number of steps I supposedly took for the day.

Also the game does not measure miles walked. A minor drawback but at least you don't have to calibrate the pedometer because of it.

Overall I am happy with it. I just really wish it had an off button so I could better results when biking to work. For me the game is helping me get more exercise, even if it's just walking.

Update: I have to say I have enjoyed seeing my walking patterns everyday and I am walking just to make sure I reach my goal in the game. I still have not had any errors after almost a weeks use due to jogging or fast movements.

I looked into getting a real pedometer today, specifically this one: Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer with Advanced Omron Health Management Software. It seems to be a full featured pedometer that you can upload your daily stats to a PC. I read the reviews and read the manual for it. The Omron has much of the same warnings of inaccuracies as the games pedometers (may not be accurate with high impact, jogging, etc). You can't switch it off, but you can read your daily steps on the unit unlike the game's meters that just blink a light. The Omron resets at 12 AM the games at 3AM. The Omron's included software looks to be far better than the DS's though, but much more straight forward. The Omron is cheaper, but the DS game gives you two meters and is meant more as a family fun game that might interested kids over a real pedometer.

After looking at a few pedometers, the game's included ones seem pretty typical except for not being able to read you exact steps on the unit. They all have their inaccuracies. When I grow sick of PT: Walking, I just pay pick up a fancier meter.

I've only had the game for two days, but I am quite pleased I got it. One of the things I like is that the pedometer is so small and can easily and discreetly clip to my waistband (or on other clothing). You can set a goal for the number of steps you take each day and the flashing light goes from red to green once you achieve your goal (the faint light only flashes while you are walking). When you upload your steps, you can see your activity by the hour for each day (there are also other graphs so you can see your information in a few different ways you can see your weekly activity patterns, monthly activity patterns, average steps, etc.). The game also has 100 images that you unlock by achieving a certain amount of steps. For example, after you walk 10,000 steps, you unlock the first picture, and 10,000 more steps unlocks the second picture (I haven't unlocked this one yet). You can also compare your steps and records with other family members or use wi-fi to see how your records compare with those of other people. You can import a mii from the wii or else create one in the game. Aside from seeing your records in various ways, unlocking images, and editing your mii, there isn't much to do with the software. However, the fact that the pedometer is so easy to carry around and that you have little goals to meet definitely motivates me to walk more. I would highly recommend it if you don't already use a pedometer regularly. However, if you already use one, I doubt this game would really increase your motivation.

I've had this Trainer since it came out and it told me 2 days ago that its known me 10 days now and enjoyed everyone of them! I have to say I have really like it too! I just started working at home and wanted to make sure I got the proper exercise each day. I've had a pedometer before, but just noting that my steps were up to 5000 did nothing to get me to increase my walks. This little gadget let me import my Mi and now I have a familiar look as I hear about my day. Some people have mentioned that they had trouble getting an accurate count with socks or bare feet...I did not. I like being able to quickly look at the trainer during the day and seeing red or green. When I see green early in the day; I get a big smile. I now always make sure I make the goal for the day. At night when I check in I'm told what kind of an animal my walking resembled that day...deer, ant, and others; plus it gives you little reminder tips for the day (eat more vegetables, eat less sugar, stand straight when you walk etc.. I like to look at my calendar and see my walking graph rising, never less for me! The data I submit is saved for 5 years. I like the way it encourages me to up my goal when I met mine for some. I would not be this interested with a simple pedometer. I am a retired adult. When the software communicates it gives a squeaky sound for the voice, that I could do without. I have had an error message a few times when I tried to load my data; but I know that's because I wasn't holding it dead on. When I went back one step and tried again it worked smoothly. I am sold on this product and would recommend it to anyone who likes this type of trainer. I paid $45.00 for it and feel it was worth it.

Honest reviews on Personal Trainer Walking

So I've used this game/ds cartridge/activity meter/whatever you want to call it for a few days now. I really love it. I purchased this to enhance my DSi experience, not because I expected to lose weight. I love all these gadgets that make our life better while we fool around on the DS. I didn't expect some high tech pedometer--just a fun little thing to play with for a while.

I walk around barefoot all the time. I work at home. I never wear shoes, unless I absolutely have to. The activity meter registered my steps just fine. It also registered my steps when I ran as well. Overall, it worked well despite the warnings.

Miis For the first activity meter, I imported my mii from the wii. I wish there was more interaction back and forth, because my mii on the wii is getting a little porky due to my wii fit activity! However, my mii on the ds is getting a bit healthier looking. Super easy to connect. For the second activity meter, I created a mii, which was also pretty easy and fun. Being the first DS game to use mii's, I was quite impressed. Like I said, I wish they were more connected to the wii.

DogI am waiting for my third activity meter to arrive so I can clip it to my dog. You can't really leave it on a dog while you aren't home, but it's an added little feature that makes the overall experience of Personal Training:Walking fun. Soon, one of pugs will be helping to illuminate the house and joining in on the space walk, with his own little mii to represent him!

Mini-Games These are like little goals. Keep the house lit and walk the world. Space Walk is a combined game with people from all over the world. While these may not be super fun for children, I enjoy plugging records in to see how far my household and I have progressed. I'm also trying to win some trophies before the other in my household do.

View Worldwide Rankings Using wi-fi, you can compare and compete with people from all over the world. Seriously, you can despite the other reviews saying you can't. This could be a huge motivator for some people. It's also just plain fun to see how you rank globally.

Activity Meter It's charts and graphs mostly, but you can rate your day and leave notes. This is helpful if you had a particularly lazy or eventful day. The DS has yet to call me fat, which my wii fit has several times when I don't weigh in every day. "Why have you gained 5 pounds, is it because you haven't exercised? huh, huh?" Okay, maybe it's not quite that bad, but you get my drift. I was called a koala on a particularly lazy day. It's really fun to go back and see when you were active. Oh that is when I walked to the car. That is when I walked the dog, etc...

Compared to Pedometer I busted out my old pedometer, which has the same inaccuracy warnings as the nintendo activity meter about being barefoot and running. I compared the results over the course of a day, and they were pretty close, about 60 steps apart. That is a normal day, with some running after dogs, walking, etc... Nintendo does not bill this as a pedometer and it really isn't...I would not buy one of these instead of a pedometer if you are trying to start a fitness routine. I use my nike+ for that. It allows for calibration and has all sorts of features. The nintendo activity meter is for fun! It just has a natural side benefit of promoting good health and exercise. (Of course, I didn't give up my yoga routine when I got the wii fit either, to each his own, i suppose.)

Overall, I'm super happy with this game and the activity meter.

EDIT: My partner just checked his first rhythm and was super excited, as he was able to see exactly when he did what by the activity chart. It was obvious when he walked the dog at 7 a.m., when he walked from his desk to the car around 8 p.m., etc... He is also way too excited that he reached his step goal before me today. He's not so excited that we only generate enough power for a flashlight. Perhaps, if we set our step goal higher, we'll be motivated to walk more and power something stronger.

Overall, it's a ton of fun to see how your activity changes through the day. We'll be working on not being so lazy during the day perhaps...

I was excited that something "new" in the pedometer world was entering the picture. As someone who coaches others to "get moving more" as a weight loss instructor, I was excited to get to try this out even if it motivates to move just a little. First, I should state it's not a "fitness game" as some, in discussions elsewhere about this new item, have thought because of Nintendo being the maker. It is a pedometer used to "chart your life's rhythm". according to Nintendo although it has some electronic features to it. I clipped it on my shoelace but it's easily placed anywhere...That said, the Nintendo aspect of it is that you can view charts showing you when you were most active during the day and which days you were most active.

Also, you can unlock pictures but not in a game-play kind of way. It'll just show you a picture after you met your step goal and you get to see more of it the next time you walk. You can sync up to compare how far you walked with other walkers who are on the same game cartridge.

If you wish to know how many steps your dog took while at work you (seriously; it has this) create an aniimal for your mii and put it on his or her collar and it will chart them too. I am not sure why I would need to chart this, but I thought I'd throw out that part of the instructions for those who are curious of Rover's goings on..I guess it could be handy if they jumped the fence while you were at work and you wondered how far they walked before coming home???? :-)

That said, it does have some glitches that I think would steer me to simply recommend a regular pedometer that counts all your steps for over the price of this. And what are the glitches?

First, it only counts your steps in ten second intervals. So that step accuracy is lower than my currently cheaper old school pedometer. My basic cheap pedometer reacts to movcment rather than amount of time within the movement so, when I compared the two and counted my steps, my ten dollar pedometer caught ever step and this one missed several. However, if I walk slowly this one worked pefectly so I do think this could fit the bill for being different and being accurate for many but if you speed up your steps know that you may actually be taking many more steps than will register according to the manual and my own count vs. what showed up.

This from the product manual noting when your reading will most likely be inaccurate:

Walking in a crowd or other situation where you stop and start repeatedly.

If the meter is loose inside a bag or held or attached loosely by a strap.

If the movement is different from walking, like jogging, running or other vigorous activity. (THIS IS THE ONE THAT GETS ME MOST; IT WILL SHOW YOU AN ERROR MESSAGE IF YOU MOVE TOO QUICKLY; IT IS MY GOAL TO GET PEOPLE TO INCREASE THEIR INTENSITY AS THEY WALK IN ORDER TO BURN MORE CALORIES...THIS MAKES INCREASING INTENSITY A "NEGATIVE"...IT WONT COUNT UNLESS YOU WALK SLOWLY!)

If the movement is softened by shuffling, walking barefoot or wearing slippers or sandals. (TAKE IT OFF WHILE IN THE HOUSE? HOW DOES THAT HELP YOU COUNT STEPS ALL DAY LONG?)

If the meter is horizontal.

If the meter is used in a very humid environment. (IF YOU LIVE IN HOUSTON, RUN AWAY! HE HE HE)

Let's face it, if seeing a chart comparing how far you walked each day motivates you then it's worth the extra cost, no matter what the cost...Anything that motivates someone is worth it as you cant put a price on health...but it's got some glitches that something of this price could possibly be improved on. Ideally, one that benefits both walking and running since this will only work for walking.

What do I love about it? If you reach your number of steps goal for the day, it signals you with a green light. And, it did for my own reading, show accuracy although I only used it for one day and didn't venture to humid climates or run.

CONCLUSION: From discussions it seems many are saying the Omron pedometer which was out before this one offers more software and accuracy. I plan to try that one next. As for this one, I could live without the step goals lighting up for the extra cost when I can still read my current basic ten buck pedometer and see if I've reached my goals...so...I gotta pass on the recommendation for the current pricepoint in my opinion. I do like that it signals you when you've reached your step goals. It is my hope that there will soon be a pedometer in the works that truly makes a game of it in order for you to increase your steps with motivation, but it would need to be one that also counts steps if you have to run after your child or dash down a hallway or take the steps at work, or walk at a fast pace rather than cancelling them out when you walk fast as this one did for me.
