Im a longtime fan of shmups. R-Type, Gradius V and U.N. Squadron, 1943 and the more recent DeathSmiles and Akai Katana are some of my faves. After months of procrastinating I finally caved and bought this game. What a disappointment. Here's why:

1) In every shooter one of the most important things is to make sure the player can tell the difference in foreground/backgrond graphics, as well as being able to clearly see enemy bullets. OE does an amazing job of ruining that conceptobjects that look like youll crash into you'll go right through and vise versa, and enemy bullets are so hard to see against the bright backgrounds its impossible to tell whats going on.

2) Unlimited continues from the get-go and bosses that "run-away" after 3 or 4 minutes makes no sense. I just beat the game on a 2nd play-through doing this before writing this review. All you have to do is hit Start to continue when needed and you can beat the game just like that.

3) Voice acting. Its fine for some games but this in particular its like they got some 10 year old girl with the highest pitched voice to squeak out dialogue. There is a TON of chatter throughout the game and it doesn't let up much at all. I turned it all the way down, only to find out that when you die there's no voice going "ahhh!!" anymore, but there's no explosion sound to signify i got hit. Your character just slowwwwwwwwly falls toward you then off-screen to the left.

4)Your main gun shoots two bullets on screen at once. Two bullets. Thats it. Good luck trying to defeat a boss if this ever happens. (Oh wait! Just refer to #2, silly me!).

5)I paid just $12 for the disc (still a rip-off) but apparently there are 25 pieces of paid DLC. Not only that, the paid DLC consists of the usual gamerpics, skins, extra stages, extra characters, and...music tracks?!?! And the music tracks are.....440 points ($5.50). EACH. SERIOUSLY. Go look on xbox.com yourself. This is an insult, especially for such a niche market these days they have to nickel and dime us to death? Hey Konami, you do you think you are? Capcom?

6) There's this odd text bar that resides above your weapon layout, (bottom left of screen). So when certain characters are yabbering in Japanese it scrolls

the English text. Its small and hard to read but most importantly for a game like this its distracting with no option to turn off. Also, for each music track that plays it will show the song title and composer on the bottom right of the screen. Oh, and cant be turned off either.

7)To piggyback on parts of #5 and #6, the music sucks. Especially the boss musicdoesnt fit in at all. Not even in a Parodius kind-of-weird, (that game was actually fun and had some cool tunes though). OE is just blah and boring.

Id give this game zero stars if I could. Please dont make the same mistake I did. Buy DeathSmiles instead. Or DeathSmiles IIX off Games on Demand. Or Akai Katana. Or Espgaluda II. All are for Xbox 360 and are wonderful shoot-em-ups/shmups that are worth your time and money. Not this worthless piece of garbage!

They totally blew it in a bad way. Instead of bringing us a souped-up Gradius or a crazier/zanier Parodius, we get this weird game. Now, I'm not completely against the idea of making more side-scrolling shoot-'em-ups, as they are not as popular as the vertical scrollers, but this one is definitely not representative of what is best about the genre. To add insult to injury, you end up feeling like you bought "part" of the game because of all the damn DLC they tried to shank their customers with: You have to download certain levels, download characters, download this, download that... what a buncha crap. The graphics aren't all that great either, sort of a mix of 2D and 3D I hate 3D and I can't recall the music at all. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone. I only got it because it was free with "rewards points" from my credit card and I'm a bit of a completist. Am I glad I didn't shell out for the import copy.

Bollocks to your DLC, Konami!

Best Deals for Otomedius Excellent - Xbox 360

Otomedius is a horizontally scrolling shooter which touts itself as the successor to Konami's classic Gradius series. While it shares many of the base gameplay features as this legendary series, it unfortunately suffers many problems which results in a very mediocre experience.

Just to name a few, due to the size of your player character on the screen, it can become extremely difficult to correctly gauge your hitbox, especially on the harder difficulties when the screen is full of projectiles.

While the 2-D artwork which permeates the game is well done, the actual 3D models used within the game itself are very lackluster. This becomes especially apparent during times when the game zooms in during cutscenes.

The multiplayer aspect of the game is also a disappointment. The game does not allow for two people to play together in the normal "Story" mode of the game. Rather, the only way to play with friends is in a specific "Multiplayer" mode, where the second player is not able to gain experience, and no continues are allowed. So, you are completely out of luck if you want to just play the normal game with a friend.

The boss fights in the game can also be a source of frustration. While the bosses are not too difficult, they tend to have an unusually high amount of health, and it is a near impossibility to hit some of their weak points without using certain specific weapons. As a result, many of the weapons available to you are largely worthless, as it is nearly impossible to defeat the bosses using them before you run out of time.

While each of these complaints, when taken alone, are not horrendous faults, the fact that so many minor poor game design choices exist at once just makes the game seem amateurish. If the company behind the game was new, or at least new to making this genre of game, then it could almost be excused. But this game was made by Konami, a company whose experience making shooters stretches back over twenty five years. And while this game so proudly declares its decent from the Gradius series on the cover, the simple fact of the matter is that Gradius V, a game that was released nearly seven years before on an inferior console, completely surpasses Otomedius Excellent in pretty much every possible way.

The game does boast a decent, if not particularly memorable, soundtrack that has a decent amount of songs from classic Konami titles. And the large amount of playable characters, coupled with a copious amount of unlockables, does give it a fair amount of replay value. Trying to obtain all of the weapons in the game will definitely provide plenty of entertainment to fans who enjoy the collection aspect of games. I feel it is important to warn, however, that the game relies quite heavily on the use of paid DLC. In fact, two characters, who were quite prominently displayed in both the promotion of the game as well as the intro movie of the game itself, are only accessible by paying separately for them once you have already purchased the game.

One final important note is that the game's visual aesthetic was very clearly designed to cater entirely to a very specific group of fans. And it is very likely that your enjoyment of the game may drastically increase or decrease based entirely on whether or not you happen to belong to this group. I will say, though, that with the amount of minor problems prevalent throughout this title, one would almost wish that they had spent less time worrying about the visual appeal of the characters, and more on ironing out the actual gameplay.

Honest reviews on Otomedius Excellent - Xbox 360

There's really not much to say about the game except it's alright if you're looking for a classic star fighter 2D game, had a gift card so figured why not and for the price not all bad just not great either.

Don't expect any of the regular gameplay we expect from today's games obviously as all you really do is shoot the enemy fighters until the boss battle at the end of the level though you will give a chuckle or two at some of the voice comments from the characters in the game intentional or not.

If you can get the game under $10 I'd say go for it though even $10 maybe a little much for this game still if you're looking for a classic style of starfighter shooter type games overall it's not too bad.

I got my copy of the game yesterday and have been playing it non-stop. First, let me say that if you have the money to spring for the limited collectors edition it is worth it. You get a very well written book, the soundtrack, a bonus disc that includes themes and avatar items, etc. And the case that holds it all is a book. It is a surprisingly well crafted edition of the game. Also, if you buy this new (you might get lucky if the person you are buying this from doesn't use the free token when the DLC comes out) you get a code to download a free add-on for the game to be released in the following months.

Now to the game. I'm not going to reveal any spoilers but rather comment on the gameplay and mechanics. First, the two things that bothered me, but did not take away from the experience and pull me out of the immersion. There is some screen tearing, although it's not much it is noticeable. And the other thing is the mouth to voice sync. A character will be talking to you and sometimes the mouth expressions do not match up to what is being said. It doesn't happen too often, but it makes you wonder why a game in development for so long would have this problem.

Now the good. The graphics are amazing. The developers make the best use of motion blur and focus that I have seen in a game as of this date on a console. The use of dark and light is almost perfect and the atmosphere is even enhanced by this fact. The controls are tight and not complex. It might take you a few minutes to get used to the flashlight and gun combo but you will learn quick. My problem was that I thought I would only hit the target if the flashlight was aimed at the bad guy, but it seems that you will still hit the enemy even without the flashlight on them. I'm used to first person shooter games where you have a cross-hair to help you aim so I was using the flashlight beam as the cross-hair. After I learned that I didn't have to do that it was awesome and much easier. Also, the flow of the game is very well suited to the episodic nature. I think if they tried to tell the story like a start to finish movie it wouldn't have had the level of immersion that it does. When an episode is over and the next one is starting I really felt like I was excited to watch a new episode of my favorite show. Kudos to the developers for trying something that few others have in this genre.

The sound is also superior. You could have the best looking game in the world but one of the foundations that you need is good audio if you want the player to be immersed in the game. I played this game with a 7.1 surround and it was great. The creaks, chirps, grasshoppers and all the little sound effects seem to be in the right speaker at the right time. I'm not sure if they are using compressed audio, but from my experience with sound in most games you can tell the difference in the sound quality when you have your system blasting full surround. The sound and music did not sound muffled or of a low frequency sample rate.

I hope I didn't confuse too many of you with my review and I tried to get my opinion across as simple as I could. Simply put, this game is very good if you are a fan of the suspense/horror genre. Another good thing is that it is rated T, which means that it can appeal to a larger group of gamers under 17. You want to play this game with the lights off.

At the moment you can also download the six episodes entitled "Bright Falls" (each episode has it's own subtitle) that is the prequel to Alan Wake on Xbox Live! It is live action and the run-time if you put all the episodes together is about 37 minutes so you get a pretty good look of the mysteries and people of Bright Falls.

As always I make it clear that this is only my opinion of the game and should not be taken as a fact, but rather a small consideration if you are wondering about the game or wanting some small tidbits of information if you are planning on buying it. If you do plan on buying it you won't regret it. Even if you aren't a fan of the genre I think this game could get your attention and give you an enjoyable experience.

Not much to be said that has not already been posted. I have been anticipating this game for some time simply because the plot looked very interesting and it just seemed like my kind of game. When my release day package arrived via UPS along with RED DEAD REDEMPTION I was extremely pleased to see the level of quality that went into making this LIMITED EDITION COPY. Comes with Avatar unlockables, a hard cover book as well as CD audio soundtrack (how many games offer that) as well as a bonus (content) disc including several themes and gamer pictures, as well as AVATAR unlockables and a code that allows you to download the upcoming DLC coming out in July? for free provided your XBOX LIVE email address is current so they can send you the code. I think it's an awesome game and the Collectors edition is one of the best I have ever seen. Right up there with the Gears of War Limited Edition. Super worth the money. Gameplay is what I expected and I have already been frightened a few times and I am not that far into the game. Seems like a great game with a great story. Look forward to playing through a couple times. Highly recommended.

Honest reviews on Alan Wake: Limited Edition -Xbox 360

It seems that David Lynch missed the boat somewhere. With the current rush of thriller style horror games hitting the market, he could have produced a game of epic proportions. In his absence, however, Remedy Entertainment has stepped up to the plate. If Deadly Premonition managed to capture the quirky characters and almost farcical style of Twin Peaks, Alan Wake has nailed the foreboding, fear-filled side of the series.

Author Alan Wake is trapped in a story that he doesn't remember writing and his wife's life is at stake. Armed with his trusty flashlight and an assortment of weapons, he must stave off the forces of darkness lurking throughout the town of Bright Falls while uncovering the clues to his own memory loss, his mysterious, new novel Departure and the location of his abducted spouse. And it all plays out as cinematically as any game has ever managed to do.

The Story

Penned by the deft hand of Sam Lake, there are definite echoes of Max Payne within this game--primarily the ongoing introspection and voice-over that narrates the story as it unfolds before the gamer. Otherwise, Alan Wake is a completely unique experience. Twists and turns in the plot manage to keep the story within grasp while introducing new and interesting tidbits throughout the game.

Game levels are scripted as 'episodes'--much as they were in Deadly Premonition--beginning with flashbacks of what has happened previously in the story/game. It gives the game a television-like vibe that brings to mind series like Lost and the X-Files--and is spoofed by the game itself with glimpses of a popular program (called Night Springs) that resembles the Twilight Zone on in-game televisions. In addition to the 'what happened before' flashbacks, gamers are also treated to a unique song between each of the episodes (such as the eerily appropriate In Dreams by Roy Orbison that also made an appearance in David Lynch's Blue Velvet).

Admittedly, the game is a little long on cut-scenes/cinematics--but they are absolutely forgivable within Alan Wake as they enhance the game experience and almost give the gamer the feeling they are 'playing within a movie.' Don't ignore the cut-scenes in this game; they are as beautiful as they are relevant.

Sights and Sounds

If Alan Wake is not the most gorgeous game ever released on the Xbox 360, then I don't know what is! Daytime in Bright Falls reveals a rustic Pacific Northwestern town that has been exquisitely detailed and constructed--but when night falls, the game is drenched in some of the best uses of light and shadow ever included within a game. Seriously, just watch how the flashlight bursts through the mists rising from the woodland trail in front of you, and take a peak at the white-capped mountains in the distance rimmed with moonlight and dare to disagree with me.

The sound design of the game is equally evocative; choosing to feature ambient music and sound effects for the background pays off with a steady build of fear and dread throughout the game. Enjoy the 'between the episodes' music for what it is: A break from the tension!

One last thing I want to mention in this section is the fine detail of facial expressions and character mannerisms throughout the game. They give a uniqueness to every person you encounter and make interactions throughout Alan Wake a pleasure.

The Game Play

Alan Wake's game play is structured much like other Third Person Shooters, so if you have fears of the tough-to-handle style of movement associated with other horror games (think Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark), you can rest easy. The mechanics involved with using the dual weapon system (flashlight/gun, etc.) are extremely user-friendly as well: Point the light at the enemy and that's where your bullets will hit.

In addition to the main storyline of the game, there are other, ongoing mini-missions as well--though they are mostly of the 'collectibles' variety. So be sure to pay attention to your surroundings and don't be afraid of leaving the well-trodden path to search for hidden caches of ammo, manuscript pages or the occasional thermos of coffee.

While the vast majority of this game is a pleasure to play, there are a few short comings that I would be remiss in not mentioning. The driving element of this game is mediocre at best; the drivable vehicles (not every car/truck is available to Wake) are a bit sluggish and handle a bit clumsily--though this, admittedly, does add to the tension of the game when bad guys are swarming you. But this is a minor thing since Wake is rarely forced to use a vehicle.

The continuous navigation of woodland paths (with the occasional handful of enemies jumping out) can also get a bit repetitive--though the game does manage to stay (for the most part) fun. And it would have been nice to have had a bit more of a map, rather than a simple GPS dot to follow--especially when you are trying to navigate through some of the more open areas of the game.

Summation

Though no game is perfect, I have to admit that in a lot of ways, Alan Wake is damn close! I give it 4.5 stars out of 5 (due to the minor shortcomings already mentioned). Alan Wake is the perfect mix of story and game play--and a fine example of how applying cinematic film techniques to a game can give it a depth that other titles can only dream of achieving. Do yourself a favor: Buy Alan Wake, fire it up and turn down the lights. Just don't forget to catch your breath during the musical interludes...

I got the original game back when it first came out in May. I got the collector's edition, as I was chomping at the bit to finally play this game ever since I first heard about it in 2006. Like most collector's editions, the extra material isn't really worth the trouble, but that's par for the course with most games. I later got the first downloadable pack when it became available during the summer and the second when it released a few months ago. I've cleared the game's full gambit of achievements, part of which involved finding stuff (damn you, thermoses!) listening to radio and tv shows, shooting piles of tin cans and of course, manuscript pages. I've gone from one side of the Dark Presence to the other and back again to help the eponymous character regain his fractured sanity and face the demons that he created for himself.

You'll probably notice that I don't focus a lot of time on the graphics, sound and controls; my main emphasis is on the story and the characters. There's a reason for that. Even if I didn't already believe that story and characters are the most important aspects of a video game after gameplay, Alan Wake is story-driven game. If the story falls flat, it doesn't have the crazy, over-the-top gameplay Gears 2 has to fall back on. Nor does it have the branching gameplay decisions that you'd have with a Fable or Mass Effect game. It's a very linear game; you go from point A to B to C to D and the game will pretty much play the same way out each time. Perhaps worst of all, it doesn't have a lot of replay value (more on that later.) So, without the story, it's really not much of a game.

So how was it? We all know how the game didn't sell too well, but was it good?

It's best for me to get what I don't like out of the way first. Like with a lot of games, it's short. Even when taking into consideration the amount of time it took to collect everything and the few extra hours the DLC packs added, Alan Wake is a short game. It's also not a very difficult one, even on the hardest mode. The mechanics for the game are very simple. You're going through the dark, and you need light. This works out in many interesting ways for the puzzles you come across (especially in the DLC packs) but fights are pretty similar to one another. Point your flashlight, wait for the darkness to burn away, shoot the enemy, dodge the attack from the other enemy, point your flashlight at him, pop a battery or two in, and you're good. Once you have these basics down, there aren't too many encounters that will prove difficult. And you probably already know about Verizon. It was bad enough that they had billboards, but an actual achievement to watch a Verizon commercial? Seriously guys? Also, the second chapter could've really used a start point after the scene with Mott, given the number of collectibles in that part of the chapter. And the third chapter was long. Really, really, really long. More than once I found myself saying "Are you effing kidding me?" as it became obvious that I *still* wasn't done with that chapter. Yeah, the game as a whole is short, but this chapter went on a little bit too long, especially since the latter half of said chapter had very little story development. Fortunately, when you do get past the third chapter, that's when the story starts to pick up. Ultimately, though, once you've collected everything, there's little to come back to, as, again, the game is so very linear.

Remedy was clever when it came to roping in us completionists, as some of the manuscript pages can only be found on the hardest mode of difficulty, and this can only be unlocked after playing through the game on one of the two easier modes at least once from start to finish. There is no shortage of people who criticize one of the plot twists towards the end of the game. I would ask that those critics play through the DLC packs, as a dialogue in the second makes it clear that there's more to that twist than what meets the eye, which ties in with the fact that Remedy from day 1 has said that there's a larger story than just the one game. The story itself is a very unique video game story, and the voice acting is very good. Alan himself is a conflicted man who wants to do the right thing and loves his wife, but fights his temper, alcoholism, fatalism, depression, insomnia, self-loathing, fits of rage and just in general being a bit of a donkey. His wife is on her last nerve trying to find someway to get Alan to snap out of his rut and return to being the man she married, which leads to them going to Bright Falls. I enjoyed listening to him narrate his story as he fights against the darkness as well as his own personal demons. As he's a writer, he's used to getting in the heads of his characters, figuring out what makes them tick. Now, he's the character in his own story and he's got to find a way to finish it.

The stock game ends on a cliffhanger which has polarized the gaming community. I personally liked it, and to those who don't, I also suggest playing the DLC, as the story truly finishes. You can complain all you want about Remedy "forcing" you to pay to get the real ending, but let's not forget these facts:

1) Remedy is a business. They're not your spouse, your friend or family member. Remedy is a business, and businesses are in it to make money. This notion that you've somehow been "betrayed" by them because they want a little more money for the fruits of their labor is far more asinine than Wake could ever hope to be.

2) We have at least one thing in common; you didn't make the game. Nor did you put any of your time, money and energy into it; instead, you're enjoying the finished product that other people, not you, made.

3) You're *not* being forced to pay for it; either don't buy it, or find a friend who did buy it and play it on their system.

4) Finally, it's really not that expensive, anyway. Especially if you got that token that let you get the first pack for free.

The DLC is truly bizarre. The stock game takes place in the real world (even though there isn't an actual Bright Falls) and many references to the real world are made. Alan, his wife Alice and best friend/agent Barry are New Yorkers through and through. Stephen King is mentioned in the opening scene. There are also references to The Shining, other authors like Dan Brown, James Elroy and HP Lovecraft, etc. The DLC, on the other hand is in this weird zone known as the Dark Place, and reality there is as steadfast, reliable and reproducible as that of a dream. It's always shifting around, and the further Alan goes into it, the more bizarre it becomes. Early on in the first pack, Alan finds a page, but reading it doesn't net the same result as one of the real pages in the real world does. Instead of reading a clear, coherent page, Alan hears himself saying disjointed, seemingly random fragments. This is to be expected to some extent, though, because the Dark Place is presented as a dream-like realm, and the part of the brain that you use to read is shut off while you're asleep. It also gives what is from that point on the main gameplay mechanic (aside from the light/dark aspect) the proper introduction it deserves. While introduced at the end of the main game, the whole concept of shining the light at a word to have it create and/or do something comes to the fore here, and this is where the interesting light/dark puzzles come into play. That's not to say that they're complex; it doesn't take a whole lot to work out how to move forward. But they are interesting and I look forward to seeing what else Remedy can do.

Ultimately, Alan Wake ends on a high note. The main game and especially the first DLC pack end on low notes, but the end to the second pack is very satisfying. Alan's journey isn't over; far from it, but he is bound and determined to do what he must to survive and rejoin Alice's side. He now knows just how far he fell from being the man he once was. He's been at rock bottom and is now going to use that rock to stand back up so that he can climb out of the hole he's dug for himself.

Humor is sprinkled in rather well here. Most of it comes from Barry. He has a monologue that simply cannot be missed in the latter part of the game, and I nearly peed when I saw him after he left the general store to met up with Alan and the sheriff. There's a line not long after this that Alan gives that's also great.

Graphically, the game has a very unique feel to it. This is definitely a Remedy game. The shaking of the trees, the darkness looming, the active cameraman, all of comes together quite well. And I couldn't help but love how towards the end we see the actor who provided Wake's likeness on a mock TV show; thought that was a nice touch. The soundtrack is simply amazing. My favorite song is War by Poets of the Fall, who also provided the music for the game's fictional band. There's even a radio broadcast that pokes a little fun at this. I get goosebumps every time I hear that song. The controls are pretty easy and straightforward; the only thing that takes a little getting used to is the fact that Alan couldn't do a marathon to save his life. He can run for a little bit but gets winded easily. But as long as you shine the light on your pursuers before taking off again, they'll get stunned for a moment, giving you a window of time to get closer towards the light.

So all in all, I don't regret purchasing this game and should Remedy proceed with the sequel I'll probably get the limited edition of that too. I know, I'm a glutton for punishment; what can I say? So give it a rental, it's a real love it or hate it kind of game. Now, if you're excuse me, I have some more thermoses to find.....

So Microsoft decides to roll out another 360 redesign to clear out the 360 S stock in replace of this E model version which they say is quieter and faster but also has some differences.

1. The front power and eject buttons are actual buttons that you press now in replace to the touch sensitive buttons

2. The power bar connector is a whole new round connector

3. The av cable connector is a 3.5mm headphone jack which means the composite cable from the original and S model will not work. By the looks of it i think there would be no component cables available and not sure how it would work with the 3.5mm jack

4. The back has 2 usb ports instead of 3

5. The digital optical connector has been removed so if you want 5.1 surround sound you have to use HDMI for your receiver. probably not a big deal for some but for me i use digital optical out because my receiver doesn't do HDMI standby pass thru.

Kinect port, ethernet port and HDMI port are still there, this console uses the same hard drive from the 360 S model and runs a tad quieter but not much, it is not that much smaller than the 360 S vertically and horizontally.

So those are the differences, If you have a original 360 console and want to upgrade then go for it but keep in mind that you will not have digital optical out and will not have component out, just composite and HDMI.

If you have the S Model already then pass on this version, not worth the price for this console that eliminates digital optical out and component out and 1 usb port.

We had two consoles of the Jasper chipset, which was one of the first of the original designs that pretty much didn't "red ring." We've had those for several years without issue. I liked the Slim model but we had no reason to buy it.

I did some remodeling and wanted to replace the white xbox with the new black one (and it has a bigger HD). It looks great and is significantly smaller. It's smaller than the PS3 Slim model sitting next to it. Compared to the PS3 Slim and the Jasper/original 360, it is very, very quiet. Virtually silent when the disc is not spinning.

I haven't quite found the actual specs, but this should be the lowest power consuming xbox to date.

I agree some of the Slim bundles are better values, because you can get the same xbox with the Slim bundled with a couple of games for the same price. Still, I like the look of this one better than the slim--more conservative and modular.

Yes, you do lose some of the ports--no more component video, and an audio out that's no longer there, so be warned. Still, I just use the ethernet, HDMI, and power, so it's fine.

The power brick is the smallest I've seen so far on the 360.

I had a black Xbox 360 elite that I have been wanting upgrade for a while. It was so loud and sometimes Arkham City wouldn't load for me; I had to restart the console. Since GTA V and Arkham Origins are coming out soon, I finally took the plunge. I traded in my old Elite and got this new "E" console.

First things first: I LOVE the way this console looks compared to my old one. This one blends in so well with my tv stand and the rest of my setup. Secondly, this thing is SO quiet. I read it's not more quiet than the slim, but coming from an elite, it's truly night and day. I don't hear a peep out of this new console and I love it! Another thing I love about this new console is the built in wifi. No more networking adapter protruding from the back on my console like with my elite. I also love how they brought actual buttons back for the power and disc tray. I personally do not like the touch sensor on the slim. Another thing I personally love about this new console is how they removed some inputs that I personally had no use for in the first place. Many have complained about the lack of an optical and component video inputs. This is not an issue for me. I have been connecting all of my home theater gear to my AVR via HDMI for years. I also use a 5.1 surround setup; I don't use gaming headphones that need the optical audio input. I find the back is less cluttered with the lack of those inputs.

All in all. I'm totally happy with my upgrade. I love it! Having said all of that, if you already own the slim, I wouldn't recommend this new console, unless you just love the new look and don't need the optical or component inputs. If you're not already an xbox owner, and are planning to get one for GTA V like I'm assuming some people are, this is a great one to get, again, if you don't need optical or component. I love this new console. It fits my needs perfectly with no extra bells and whistles that I would never use anyway.

Honest reviews on Microsoft XBOX 360 E 250GB Console

In case there was any doubt, the 360 E is a reduced-cost console, although not necessarily reduced price (more on that in a minute). It gives buyers something new to look at for a few months until the Xbox One gets into the stores. Undoubtedly its purpose is to give xbox sales a little boost between now and Christmas, when the Xbox One will probably be in short supply.

Considering this, its definitely not for hardcore gamers who want the best and the latest.

The Xbox 360 E is for a very specific niche:

1) Parents who want to pacify their kids with "something" new without buying the newest and the best.

2) Businesses/youth groups that want to have an Xbox on the premises but don't care about the Xbox One.

3) People who actually need a new xbox 360, not an Xbox One and not a 360 Slim, at this moment (I fell into this category)

Microsoft has done a good job of tailoring this console to that particular market. There are a lot of gamers who are NOT in the group I just described. If you are a gamer and you don't fit nicely into that group, you really shouldn't be looking at the Xbox 360 E. Its not made for you.

In short, the Xbox 360 E is purely about marketing and distribution. It is NOT about raising the bar of gaming. It doesn't even try to be the best Xbox 360 ever. Fortunately, it doesn't pretend to be anything its not.

For those of you who are considering the Xbox 360 E for one of the reasons above, I think its a pretty good console. It fills the gap between the Xbox 360 slim and the Xbox One, which is yet to be released. As a "gap" device that is probably only going to be available for a year or two while the Xbox One is offered, so you do want to consider purchasing it carefully.

The Xbox 360 E has most of the features the "general public" needs, and everything else has been removed. I think Microsoft has done a better job than the recently released Wii Mini Nintendo Wii Mini Console (LIMITED EDITION) + Bonus Wii Remote in terms of what they kept: the Xbox 360 E is a fully functional console, even if you don't get optical audio, RCA A/V jacks, and other things that are still in use in homes today. If you buy this unit, you should intend to hook it up to your TV with HDMI. Thats a major change, and, if you are still using an older TV you may want to take note.

Its pretty safe to purchase it because there is an enormous library of games available for it, both new and used.

And what about that price? Well, there is only one way Microsoft and the Retailers can keep a low cost solution in the news: to highly publicize price drops when they happen. They are still in a "start high and lower the price over time" strategy.

Expect to see the Xbox 360 E go on a discount before Christmas. Thats just so they can say "reduced price" which catches the ear of many a parent and grandparent. As I said, the xbox 360 e is strictly about marketing. And now that you know this, you should know what decisions to make going forward.

My husband's XBOX finally gave up after about 6-7 years when the dog knocked it over. We needed a replacement. We grabbed this on Amazon when it was on sale. This is obviously the upgrade from his older one, and he is very happy with it. He said it seems to run more smoothly than his older one did. The headset it came with is kind of cheap/chintzy, but he has a big fancy headset he bought for his older one that works just fine.

Playseat Seat Slider Kit Reviews

Playseat Seat Slider Kit
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
No instructions come in this kit other than a sticker on each side that states: "Srew (sic) this side to seat with this end facing front" Like others have stated it is not all that apparent which way the Allen Screws face. With that said, it is only the total lack of instructions that keep this from being a 5 star product. It works as well as any car seat slider.

Here are some handy tips for install:

1) remove the seat via the 4 Allen screws (careful it will want to tip back when the last screw is removed)& place it up-side-down over the edge of your couch. (read step 10 now... I didn't, but you may want to...)

2) Push an allen screw in the end so that the threads hang over the elongated hole nearest the sticker end (front). The screw will not fall into place nicely, but if you just poke at it from the other elongated hole above it, it easily falls into place.

3) Put your Allen wrench in the screw to hold it in place as you line it up over the front seat hole. The metal tabs that hold the release bar should stick in toward the center of the seat, not out toward the sides, and if you can still read the sticker you have it up-side-down. The sticker should be facing the seat bottom.)

4) Screw it in only 1/2 way & then repeat the procedure for the other side. Tighten all screws after all are in place.

5) The release bar is held in place by it's own spring tension so all you have to do is line up a hole near the bar end to the single pin shaped metal tab and then compress it enough to fit the other hole over the tab on the other side, but be careful for 2 reasons... First, make sure you attach the release bar such that the bend tips down away from the seat bottom and not up towards it. (This gives you as much space as possible between the seat bottom and the release bar.) !!!AND SECOND...!!! It is very "springy", so try not to let it pinch your fingers!!! The bar should now be resting firmly between the double tabs and the single tab through the hole.

6) (Greasy Finger Warning) Before trying to attach the seat to the base see if you can use the release and move the slider rail forward a few inches, thus exposing the two front elongated holes. This may take 2 persons if it is a tight fit, but mine moved rather easily. Try to get both rails extended the same distance.

7) With the holes exposed you should be able to easily place the seat onto the base and drop an allen screw in each side. Place a nut on the bottom and tighten.

8) Now carefully slide the seat forward enough to expose the back 2 elongated holes and repeat the process.

9) I suggest moving the seat back to the center position (no rail sticking out either forward or back) and fit it to your body by moving the playseat's original adjustment (the main tube tightener) into your comfortable "playing" position. If many persons will be using it fit it to a middle sized person.

10) Why no locking washers? I don't know, but you could add them yourself or tighten the screws periodically. Happy Racing!

Pros:

Does exactly what it claimsmakes it easy to slide chair forwards and back to allow for friends/guests to use the seat. To use it, you sit on the seat, pull up on the handle and slide the seat forward and back.

Cons:

No instructions apart from the white stickers attached to the unit. So it is a bit of a brain teaser to assemble.

A previous reviewer provided an excellent set of detailed instructions for the assembly. It was a bit difficult to visualize the overall process, so I am supplementing that with the following less detailed overview of the main steps. Also I uploaded some pictures I took of the process of assembly as well as an assembly diagramHope this helps.

Overall steps then are:

1. Remove seat from metal base of Playseat.

2. Attach slider bars to bottom of seat. The labeled side should face the bottom of the seat and the arrow on the label should point toward the front of the seat.

3. Attach the handle bar. This takes some muscle doing. When attaching the handle bar, make sure it is angled downward relative to the seat, rather than upward or else you won't have enough clearance to pull up on the handle when you are finally sitting on it. See diagram.

4. Attach seat to the metal base of the playseat. This is trickiest and it will be easier if you had an extra hand to depress the handle bar when you are putting in the screws because you are going to need to slide the bars in and out to insert the screws. This is where you should read the former reviewers instructions for additional details. This is probably the least intuitive part of the assembly.

Additional tips: ignore the circular holes on the slider. You will only use the elongated holes.

Best Deals for Playseat Seat Slider Kit

When I got the Playseat I ordered all the accessory that appeared to make sense. Being able to slide the seat back and forth sounds like a cool thing.

Unfortunately the quality is pretty low. One side works, the other side is locked and only glides when using excessive force. My kids can't use it without me and even I have trouble getting it to work.

It also comes without instructions whatsoever. It's not a huge deal, I figured it out in 2 minutes but many will have trouble. The actual installation is not as easy at it seems, kind of tricky to get the screws in place.

But most of all it is not a necessary thing to have. The Playseat is designed to be very easily adjustable so the sliding seat doesn't really add anything. In reality you will have to adjust the pedals and wheel base anyways to make it work for a child.

Maybe I have a bad unit, but it's too much hassle for me to unmount it and pay for the shipping back to get a replacement which will cause even more time to get it in again. Either way, you really don't need it, it works just fine without it and even my 7 year old can use the seat without this slider.

Honest reviews on Playseat Seat Slider Kit

As others said, it comes with no instructions. Thanks to those provided instructions, and greater thanks to the person uploading the screw/nut diagram.

It works exactly like what you have in a non-powered manual slider in cars. If you are using for yourself, then you don't need this. But if have others trying it out, then you need it. Combine it with the standard adjustments on my Playseats Evolution, I can let me 6 year old boy who's 42 inch tall to reach the pedal!

If you have multiple players (kids and adults) playing on your playseat, this is a must have so that you don't have to change the settings for the pedals every time. We can set the seat for 7 years old kids up to 6"1 adults, so that's a pretty good range.

Mounting is a little bit annoying but straightforward (no instructions).

As a long time Microsoft supporter and someone who has never really liked the PS3, I felt it necessary to post this.

I picked up the new DS4 controller last night for the upcoming PS4, and I have to say I am blown away at how much better they made this controller.

Everything about this controller feels better than the old DS3 and prior units. The joysticks are farther apart and actually have resistance for more precise movements.

The grips are elongated and this makes the controller fit much better in my bigger hands.

It is not heavy in the hand, so while using it I forget I am holding it. The movements feel more like second nature rather than thinking about which button to press.

I knew awhile back I was not getting the Xbox One and I had hitched my wagon to the PS4 train. This just makes that decision all the more grand.

This DS4 is the best controller I have used on any system to date. Will it beat the new Xbox One? Not sure, but I would have to say maybe. Even if it didn't I would say it won't matter, Microsoft lost my money this time around.

UPDATE (Nov 18, 2013):

After a few days of using it 'as intended', with the PS4, that is, there is consensus among all gamers in our family that this is the best Playstation controller so far. It feels comfortable to hold, it's precise, the rumble feels great, the built-in speaker is just awesome and the touchpad, while not yet used much by the games we've played, has great potential.

The 'issues' would be the battery life which appears to be a lot shorter than the DS3's (Sony claims it's the same but it just ain't so) probably because the light bar is always on and bright and the Options button which is hard to reach, recessed and squeezed between the touchpad and the face buttons.

___________________________________________________________

Just had the new Dualshock delivered today and, obviously, I can't use it with a PS4 yet but I can still discuss how it feels.

Sony calls the DS4 'evolutionary' on the packaging and they're right, it's not a radically different controller but there's a lot more evolution between the DS4 and the PS3 controller than there was between PS2's vs. PS3's. We are getting: touchpad, lightbar, speaker and audio out as completely new features and some nice changes/improvements in buttons shape and layout and in controller's overall shape.

I was afraid that the new controller would feel 'too big' or 'too heavy' but, it turns out, it's not the case at all. It feels better, much better than the Dualshock 3 while, at the same time, it feels very, very familiar. You don't need to 'learn' this one at all and the touchpad feels super-natural. Here are my first impressions. I posted a brief video and tried it with a PS3 but, let me share my impressions so far:

LARGER: yet it still feels comfortable because of the slightly longer handles and them being set at a different angle.

HEAVIER: yes, it is a little heavier but only a little. Hard to tell how it's going to feel after a few hours of play but I don't believe it's going to be a big issue.

L3/R3 come with a redesigned top and require less push to click.

L2/R2 have a trigger-like shape but not exaggerated to the point where your fingers would get stuck. Nice.

4 FACE BUTTONS ON RIGHT (triangle, circle, X, square) are smaller, closer together and can be pushed deeper.

D-PAD didn't change much. The buttons are a little curved.

PS BUTTON is smaller.

CHARGES through a USB Micro, NOT a USB Mini port. Charged well both off a PS3 and off a MOVE charger that came with USB ports.

AUDIO PORT: we'll need something that supports it on the PS4 to try it out

SPEAKER: haven't had a chance to hear it yet

TOUCH PAD: it's clickable, feels good to the touch

LIGHT BAR: turns yellow while charging, flashing white when disconnected

OPTIONS and SHARE replace the START and SELECT buttons

RUMBLE: obviously, didn't have a chance to try it yet.

You do NOT get the charging wire which can be any standard USB Type A with a Micro plug at the other end and you do NOT get the earpiece. The packaging says that the PS4 comes with the USB wire but there's no mention of the earpiece.

So far, the new controller is a winner. It feels great to hold and everything appears to be within reach. It works with the PS3 but only in wired mode. Pressing the PS button did not cause the PS3 to respond in any way.

I'm in love already :), looking forward to getting our new PS4, soon.

Best Deals for PlayStation 4 Dualshock 4 Wireless Controller

I have big hands, and being raised with PlayStation controllers has molded my hands to be perfectly comfortable with them. I have NEVER had any hand cramps or soreness from any Dualshock controllers. Although the PSP and Vita put my pinkies to sleep after awhile. Anyways, on to the new controller and improvements I have noticed in my limited time testing it on the PS3 mostly with BF3.

Picked this up from GameStop today (they had the PS Eye in stock also) and am not disappointed!

THE DESIGN-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The DS4 feels like it was custom molded for my hands! It's amazing! All the buttons are easily reachable during a BF3 match except for the Options and Share buttons, which is a problem for BF3 on PS3 because Select (Share) is for spotting, but this is not an issue for the PS4.

The Touchpad is also very comfortable to reach for.

I was disappointed when I heard the textured half was plastic (not rubber), but in my hands it feels like rubber, so I am happy now.

The gloss surface for the D-pad and face buttons feels great.

THE BUTTONS------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So the face buttons are now digital and not analog, I noticed no difference in BF3, sometimes they actually felt snappier.

The D-pad feels better, and has a dent in the center, though I will miss the texture like the DS3s has.

R1 and L1 feel snappier (could be because it's new).

R2 and L2 are much easier to grip due to the new curve. They also have a stopping point inside the controller before the buttons lip hits the frame like the DS3, so you know when it's pulled all the way. That may be enough to ween me off of R1 for the trigger!

I thought the Touchpads clickable button would be bad, but it actually is very well done. The "click" feels the same wherever you press it!

The PS Button is smaller and solid black.

The sticks are AWESOME! They are actually smaller in circumference and shorter in height, but it's not that noticeable. The texture of the sticks and the caved in center made it almost impossible for me to slip off. My biggest plus is the accuracy you can get with this thing! Even on BF3 on the PS3 I could turn my sensitivity up with no problem!

L3 and R3 are much easier to press while the sticks are facing out (example; walking to running on BF3).

Share and Options are definitely not for use as in game buttons. They are raised just enough to find them, but not by accident. I will always miss Start and Select though.

OTHER--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Light Bar is bright but faced down so you don't notice it unless it were to flash or something. Red and blue flashing lights for NFS would be SWEET!

It uses a Micro USB (not included).

I was unable to test the Light Bar, Touchpad, vibration, headsets, or any other functions that require the PS4.

Sorry guys! I don't really have anything bad to say about this controller! Maybe once I get my PS4, but for now it's awesome!

Makes me want to get BF4 on PS3 just to be ready for PS4!

Hope this review helped someone, and yes I am a shi**y writer. Anyways hit me up if you guys have a question or want me to test something!

WHAT WORKS ON PS3? ONLY the Analog Sticks, Face Buttons, D-pad, L and R 1, 2 & 3, and Share/Options as Select/Start. MUST be plugged in via USB port on PS3. Could not pair as Bluetooth device in Settings or use as Audio device. ONLY WORKS ON CERTAIN PS3 GAMES.

Honest reviews on PlayStation 4 Dualshock 4 Wireless Controller

I agree with what the others have said regarding feel so I will post what I've found regarding working with PC

Controller is working via generic Wireless Controller driver on Windows 8 while connected with micro USB cable OR through bluetooth! Have tried with several games and have found the following:

Doesn't follow the 360 bindings, you will have to rebind games, may not work for games that don't allow this.

Works wonderfully with Battlefield 3, GTA: San Andreas, Strike Suit Zero, ZSNES, Dolphin etc. after rebinding.

A Micro USB cable is NOT included in the box!!!

Have not found a way to make rumble work.

Touchpad input is NOT recognized so far, but clicks ARE.

Share, Options, and PS button all register.

The front lit section slowly fade blinks Yellow while charging, is solid white while connected wirelessly, and off while charged and on cable.

Opens with a 0x2-1/2" or other small Phillips head.

Hope this helps early purchasers, if you are buying this substantially after launch please keep in mind a driver may have been released by then!

EDIT: Android information!

On my ATT Note 3, This controller is working wonderfully via micro USB (by using a USB OTG cable) but NOT bluetooth nor using the sixaxis app (just tried to to be sure). The controller shows up as a pairable device, but when selected the phone believes it is paired, but the controller does not. Will keep trying.

All of the other positive reviews of the DS4 are spot on.

Former Xbox 360 player here of Battlefield 3. I got heavy into BF3 gameplay on the 360 since it released in Nov 2011 so I have been using the 360 controller for a solid 20 months. You may search Cravit8 on battlelog to see my stats.

I also have a PS3 that I got for blu-ray playing and some games.

The complaints of the DS3 are valid, it's too small and the sloped R2/L2 triggers can't be used as triggers because they aren't trigger shaped.

The DS4 is better in every way. It is better than the 360 controller and the PS3 controller. I bought it with trade-in credit at Gamestop to use on the PS3 with Battlefield 4 until my PS4 ships.

Sony made this a GAME CONTROLLER, it must have some industry standards instead of typical proprietary Sony software because it is COMPATIBLE WITH PC AND PS3.

Just FYI, the DS3 is not forward compatible with the PS4. There are actual technological reasons for this as the old bluetooth spec 1.0 and 2.0 just don't carry the strength of signal and bandwidth.

___________________________________________________________________________

CHAT AND MIC SUPPORT:

Chat now supported through the controller like it was on the 360. Brilliant move number 1.

Industry standard universal 3.5mm stereo mic chat jack. Consumer friendly brilliant move number 2.

NOTE: Xbox One retracted on both of these, to much of our bewilderment, but they really want you to use Kinect.

The audio jack on the DS4 has a industry standard 3.5mm stereo mic chat jack (4-pole meaning 3 black bands and 4 silver poles) that is the same as most cell phones for the last few years. So your Apple earbuds with mich or similar will work on the DS4.

Xbox 360 headsets, hilariously, will also work with the DS4 with a simple 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor that can be had on here or fleabay for ~$1. Xbox 360 headsets as far as I know do not work on the Xbox One. (will edit this if I get corrected).

Happy controlling and chatting!

To be fair I'm going to split this review into two parts. Single Player and Multi Player. Since they both run on different engines, its only fair to separate the two as far as quality and game-play goes.

*Single Player*

Game Play:

I always play my games on the hardest difficulty because I want to be challenged and get my $49-59 worth. Single player on hard is so easy, I think even the most novice player could beat it with no sweat. I beat the game in what was literally a solid 2.5-3 hours and died about 5 times. I'm no FPS guru, but for comparison it took me about 10-15 hours to beat MW2 and Reach on their hardest difficulty. I'm not a Halo or MW2 fanboy and I hate to make the comparison, but those two games on their highest difficulty have made me seriously consider throwing my XBox out the window (some of you know what I'm talking about). That's the level of difficulty I expect from any "big name" FPS. 3 hours of game play is just insulting. It partially has to do with the A.I. The only time you'll have trouble is when you don't see and enemy. Other than that, the controls are great and familiar. MOH does have this feature called "Look/Lean" where you can poke your head out from behind a corner or object and lay down some suppression fire. Its interesting, but I don't see many people using that feature.

Story:

This game doesn't have a story line, it has a story circle. You start the game with no clear intention of your overall objective. All you know is that you're deep in Afghanistan looking for "bad guys" and you're there to exterminate them all and that is the cycle of pretty much 95% of the game. Now I know it's based off a real war at real places and real events and the terrorist are the bad guys and the idea is to win, which is fine. But the overall idea of this game is just kill bad guys and keep killing them till there aren't any left. That's not a story, that's a theme. This game lacks a clear beginning, middle and end.

Graphics:

It looks real, like any other war game. The daylight scenes are very detailed with the tree lines and mountain ranges. I don't care to hear idiotic opinions about "the characters hand looked fuzzy for 2 seconds during a cut scene". That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I'll put it like this. When you shoot people, blood spews from their exit wounds. When a bullet hits someone in the head, pieces of their skull and brain matter spray the wall behind them. I think that's graphic enough.

Sound:

Amazing. That is one of the few things this game really has going for it. The soundtrack is pretty good to. The music from the end still gives me goosebumps.

Comments:

This game is seriously not done. The amount of glitches and A.I. foolishness is clearly noticeable at many times during the game. You'll see enemies "gumby" their way across the opposing battlefield as you desperately try to shoot them to no avail. The only other big flaw is the automation. The game works on the premise that you have to be in a particular spot to advance your teammates to the next part of the mission. It can get rather annoying running around the map looking for that particular "pressure point"

*Multi Player*

Game Play:

Online play is fun and exciting. There is definitely a noticeable difference in the game-play from multi to single player. It is a bit slow to get going because of the limited load-outs and weapon selections that you have when you first start playing. I suppose that after you start leveling up and gaining more options this would be alleviated. I personally feel that the game plays to slow during the matches, however it has its merits. Aside from the aforementioned "glitchyness", the multi-player is definitely a fresh alternative to the existing lineup.

Overall:

This game was probably the most disappointing FPS title that I've purchased. I don't say that to be cruel, but this game feels like it was really rushed and they could have spent more time developing it. It will have its time to shine, however it really can't stack up to its competition. I know people like to tout the notion that why does everything have to be compared with COD. Well its a FPS war game. It is only logical that you make a comparison of the two because not everyone has $60 to spend on every new game that comes out. I realize that some people have to seriously consider between the two choices. So I have to say, for the sake of clarity that this game is not as good as MW2 which was released a considerable amount of time before it.

*SYNOPSIS*

This game is not without its merits. It has many flaws, but most you can overlook. Medal of Honor does a good job of delivering a fresh multi-player layout and generally good online game play. However it has many crucial flaws that just don't give it enough merit to stay in full rotation against its existing competition and I suspect its soon to be competition.

3/5 Buy this game used after a few weeks or rent it. If you're strapped for cash, I'd pass on this one. Or find a friend like me who buys all the big new titles and borrow it from him/her when they inevitably dish it for the next big title..

As a memeber of the Army serving currently in Afghanistan I do not see what the fuss is all about. I am not offended by this game at all. It is a game. It is entertaining and I play it when I have time here in Afghanistan. I wish the Taliban did fight back like they do on the game. We could ball these jokers up in the time it took to finish the game. lol Sadly enough all they do is emplace IEDs. As far as the game play is concerned it is tight and responsive. It helps that the controls are like Call of Duty. I like this game more than Call of Duty Black Ops but it is not as good as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 or 2. Just my opinion. I wish you could play versus split screen but that is not an option. Sucks... But, overall it is a great game. And it is not offensive to the Armed Forces. Stop putting words in my mouth while you sit on your butts back home doing nothing. I am fighting for freedom. The freedom to play what the hell I want to play...

Best Deals for Medal of Honor - Xbox 360

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series is such a blockbuster that every FPS inevitably gets compared to it. That seems to be why this game is getting rather mediocre reviews; if you're looking for a MW2 look-alike, this ain't it. But I don't think it was meant to be either. The whole advertising campaign revolved around its uber-realism as it is loosely based on US SOF activities in Afghanistan immediately following 9/11. Everything from the lingo to the settings and gameplay aspire to give you the closest possible experience of being a "Tier One" operator (the top dawgs of the SOF community). On this front I think they did a decent job.

Single player: As I previously mentioned, the single player campaign is based on the initial invasion of Afghanistan in the weeks following 9/11. You play in various alternating roles including a Navy SEAL, a Ranger, and an Apache pilot. The campaign is pretty fun because it's a good combination of traditional FPS and newer roles like calling in Air Support, .50 cal long-range sniper, Apache pilot, etc... It is very realistic (to the point where you might not understand what they're saying if you're not familiar with Military-speak, e.g. 5 mikes instead of 5 minutes or RTB instead of return to base). As far as glitches I didn't really notice many. I did have one where my ATV got stuck in between two trees and that required a reset but it seemed like a freak accident and I wasn't too annoyed. I thought the graphics were pretty good, but I'm pretty forgiving of things like frame rate, graphics etc for what it's worth. As far as difficulty I don't think it was too easy. They have a Tier One mode that is unlocked for each level after it is completed. Everyone who said it was too easy probably didn't play on it. Although I do wish the campaign was a bit longer I don't think it was atrociously short; but you can easily finish it in a weekend.

Multiplayer: There are a few types of games: team deathmatch, team objective, sector control, and you get to choose between 3 classes of soldiers, each with their own weapons: Rifleman, Special Ops, Sniper. You level up each class separately by playing in that class. The points system is a basic 10 points for each kill plus bonus points for particular achievements (head shots, tier 1 kills, double kills, etc...) The gameplay is a little different than you'd expect based on the single player. For example the button layout is different and a lot of functionality from the single-player mode is disabled, such as the slide to cover or going prone. Yes you read that right: you can't go prone in multiplayer. But it's a good thing because otherwise snipers would be unstoppable as there is no kill cam. This game emphasizes shooting skill as the explosives (grenades, rockets) are very weak and unless someone is right next to the explosion they will survive. It's nice because it more or less eliminates noob tubing, but these limitations also give an advantage to snipers in some levels (particularly Diwagal Camp). It would be nice if they enabled the slide to help dodge snipers. There are also kill streak rewards, although they're not as elaborate, or fun, as those in COD:MW.

Overall I think it's a fun game and I don't regret buying it. I give it a solid 4 stars. Here are some of the things that can be improved upon and make it 5-star worthy: a longer single player campaign, ability to slide in multiplayer, more involved kill streak rewards, rebalancing teams that are obviously uneven, and making the Diwagal Camp less sniper-friendly (how about a tunnel to cross valley?).

Honest reviews on Medal of Honor - Xbox 360

My review applies primarily to multi-player, but I will say a quick word about the campaign.

The campaign, while buggy, was indeed fun to play, the game play was interesting and felt authentic all the way through. It feels genuine to be fighting an actual sworn enemy of America, not the Russians for once. The plot was realistic and the controls felt familiar. Audio was superb and the graphics were on par with its FPS competitors, offering some outstanding daytime landscapes of Afghanistan. My biggest criticisms for this mode would be it feels unfinished as it lacks a coherent storyline and is quite short, stopping abruptly. The AI could use improvement, as well.

As for multi-player however, I'm very unimpressed.

Just about everything that frustrates me about Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 2 returns in this game, with little of what makes those titles great. While the controls now offer basically the same layouts as Modern Warfare 2, which does make for easy cross-over, there is still no way to edit them to your personal liking. There is nothing worse than trying to make a quick turn while in the midst of a direct firefight with multiple tangos than accidentally stabbing wildly at the air.

Unlike the campaign mode, in multi-player there is no way to go prone or dive into cover. This is extremely frustrating for folks like me who like to hit the deck when under heavy fire. The destructible environment settings have been extremely scaled back, which is not a big deal to me, as many maps are mountainous anyway, however there is no "spotting" in this game which I definitely miss.

There is, as far as can tell, little to no communication between players in this game on XBL. At first I found the issue was likely related to my voice settings, but once fixed, I still heard nothing but crickets. I am a big fan of tactical communication and team work.

The maps seem rather unbalanced and to be designed with snipers in mind. Your team has an obvious advantage or disadvantage depending on which side of the map you start. Each map has a handful of strategic bottlenecks you need to cross, and they quickly get torn apart with sniper fire and as the kills rack up, eventually mortars and rockets. Maps appear quite similar and boundaries are poorly designed causing you to make multiple attempts at flanking your enemy only to realize there is an invisible wall where you are trying to go.

The spawn killing, rubber-banding and time-travel kills which occur in both BC2 and MW2 make their appearance here as well. The superior BC2 spawn system does not return in this game and the offered classes lack both the variety of MW2 and clearly defined roles of BC2.

I could go on, but you get the idea, in the end the final product feels like an early beta. It truly feels like playing a work in progress and that's not enough to succeed in this genre. It tries to do Bad Company + Modern Warfare, and in the end makes a mockery of each.

Overall, the campaign mode saves this game from being a total train wreck and makes it worthy of your time... but only as a rental. Play through it once, spend an additional few hours getting some multi-player achievements and you're done.

Don't waste $60 on this game.

As a single-player gamer, I normally love MOH games (Airborne is one of my all-time favorites) but this game is nothing at all like Airborne. It's actually too much like Call of Duty. Your player's movement is confined to a very limited area of play, and the game dictates where, when, and how to advance, as well as what weapons you will use to eliminate enemies. In other words, you have very little freedom of choice in this game. You cannot go about completing objectives on your own terms -you MUST follow the script of the game to the letter in order to advance through missions. I find that to be no fun at all.

There are no weapons upgrades to earn, no med kits to find, no bonuses, no secrets to unlock or hidden places to discover, etc. There's literally nothing interesting to do in this game. All you can do is follow the yellow brick road and adhere to the tightly-regimented script. After playing the game for about two hours, I was so bored I quit and deleted the game from my console.

The graphics are phenomenal. The game is a lot like a movie. Unfortunately, MOH put so much into the cinematics and realism, they forgot to make the game fun for the gamer.

EA Sports pleased a lot of college football fans by deciding to release NCAA 2003 on all 3 platforms this year. Gamers who played both NCAA 2002 and Madden 2002 may remember that although both games use the same engine, NCAA's gameplay was more attuned to the offense-oriented play found in college football while Madden seemed faster and played more defensively. While both games were the best playing football games to date, there were still issues with "money" plays and unrealistic running games (in Madden, running to the outside was much easier than running inside which is not what you'd expect because of the speed of the pursuit defenders in the NFL). You could fiddle around with the AI sliders to tune the gameplay but it was often a laborious process and often frustrating because everyone played with different sliders.

Although NCAA 2003's gameplay is eerily familiar, I decided to purchase it because of it plays so beautifully out of the box. One thing that I noticed right away is the ability to break long runs up the middle (I play on All-American mode). This was sorely missing in the previous EA Football titles. Running plays outside are no longer sure 10 yard gains. The passing defense AI has been much improved to increase the number of interceptions (the defender will catch a majority of balls that come right to him whereas last year's version made every secondary defender look like Rickey Dudley).

As far as the features go, NCAA is basically building on what they know works. The Dynasty mode is terrific as you can take over a team, compete in BCS rankings and even recruit players during offseason. There is also the new Mascot game and the Rivarly game. I'm not big on features but the gameplay definitely hooks you in and the features make you come back for more.

I haven't played Madden 2003 yet but by all accounts, it should be a great game. If you're planning to get just one football game this year, you should wait until Madden comes out and see which is better. Madden features create a play option and special practice modes. For me, I chose NCAA 2003 because of the varied gameplay (running option plays and all the different schools with different styles of play). This is the most complete football game to date (at least until Madden 2003 comes out).

I purchased an XBox when they first came out and was disappointed when NCAA 2002 never made it to the shelves for the system. So I had to settle with Madden 2002. While I'm not a pro football fan, I still enjoyed Madden a lot. When I found out that NCAA 2003 was going to use a revamped Madden 2002 engine, I felt a little hesitant in buying it, but did so anyways. Boy am I glad I bought this game. There are a lot of differences from Madden 2002 that make this game the best football game I have ever played, period. First of all, it's a college game. Rivalry modes, mascots, fight songs, cheerleaders, trophies...EA Sports definitely nailed the school spirit aspect of college football. The added option play as well as the 5-2 and 4-4 defenses are a much needed and desired college bonus. The AI is real smart in this game. This is a true simulation so don't expect to score a lot of points (at least in the harder difficulty levels). Expect pass coverage to be well pulled off and realistic (unlike Madden's Spider-sense cornerbacks). Expect the rushing game to be a lot easier than previous games as well. In fact, it's a little too easy, probably my only complaint about the game (well...I have one other, being an Auburn student/fan and there not being any fight song, but that's another story...). Running up the middle can get you on average a good 5-6 yards each time, even when the defense calls a jam-middle or under-smoke defense. The commentary is awesome and not near as repetitive as NCAA 2002 or the unbearable Summerall/Madden duo in Madden 2002. If anything, the three-man commentary team is one of the game's greatest aspects. And the graphics are what you would expect from XBox and EASports. Realistic grass stains, smooth lighting, realistic cheerleader and player motions, and so on. Overall this game has few bad qualities and should be in every gamer's library.

Honest reviews on NCAA Football 2003

This is teh best college football game. The franchise is great. You can make you team go from unranked to #1. The trophy room is cool. You display all trophies from bowl games to hiesman in there. There is a mascot game where you can play as a team of mascots. After a season you have to recruit players. Like real life the best players want to go to the best school. If you are a great team you will get all the good high school players. Anothe great thing is that you can save the draft class leaving then if you have madden(which is a good game) when you finish a season in teh draft you can draft the players from NCAA Football. I reccommend You get this game.

I was not sure I was going to get this title. The Madden NFL game comes out in a few weeks, and the gameplay is virtually the same. But as usual, once I saw it on the shelves, I had to have it.

To start with, the reason this is a must have is not because of the graphics, the game play, the improved AI, or anything like that. The reason that this is a must have, is based on one little word. DYNASTY! Not the TV show from the 80's, but the complete control over your own university's football program. You become the recruiter, and head coach rolled into one. It is a far cry from TECMOBOWL for the Nintendo.

Lets begin with the graphics. They are magnificent. Similar to the PS2, but much brighter and cleaner. The stadiums, fans, and faces of the players are phenomenal.

Second, the game play. Improved defenses, and more realistic movements make it a top notch game, and also make the replay factor more enjoyable.

Third, the creation and dynasty process. This is the real deal. Not only can you do seasons and so many other neat things like Mascot games, you can completely create everything. Pick your College, design the uniforms and the stadium, and because of the dynasty mode we touched on earlier, completely be in control of your roster. Or so you atleast thought. The recruiting process is a lot of fun, but can be tough. Let me first let you in on some clues. Do Not Just go after top 100 players. You will end up with all walk ons. Do go after the players that want to play at your school. This will add depth to your team. Do Not waste recruits. Try and get as many as possible. 3 star players can be as good as 4-5 star players in 1 year. read the comments the coaches are making about each guy during the recruiting weeks. See if the kid has potential by what they are saying. And Lastly, DO NOT send all the coaches out for each recruit. It is not necessary.

All in All, this is a great game for any football fan, and for the die hard NCAA gamer, it is a must have. I only gave it 4 stars instead of five, because I thought somethings could have been improved with the XBOXs capability. I thought players cutting when running should be a little more defined, and I thought they missed some of the conference changes. Like USF not being an independant anymore. But great game nonetheless!

This is the wii version gone portable and really it makes more sense as a hand held game. It's straightforward room to room game play ,beating on hoards of foes and frequent save points really makes it a pick up and play game. Combat relies on buttons for attacks/blocking while touch screen dose your special powers. The analog stick moves Thor as well as helps to chain together combos. Combat is fast paced simple and really fun to do. The higher your combo count the more powerful Thor gets. You get experience points for every enemy that you can use to unlock health upgrades, upgrade your power meter, and slots for the perks you find. Levels are nice and long and offer bonuses for destroying everything like art and perks that power up thor during certain conditions. To be honest the combat can get a little repetitive as the hoards just keep coming and even unlocking moves it can get a bit stale so it's best played in the right doses. Luckily big bosses battles really mix up the combat and theres even flying levels that play out like a rail shooter. The game has a good amount of content levels are nice and long and theres about 15 of them and offers replayabilty as you can play on higher difficulty with your unlocked upgrades as well as challenge arenas. Finally the 3D is a bit all over the place. it's not on during the comic book like cut scenes and is hardly noticeable in some points. Other times it look good, real time cut scenes has things popping out, and adds depth to the areas as well has things flying out at you at points. over aal Thor is a solid action game and i recommend it to any 3Ds fan who wants a naction game with good content.

As other reviewers have pointed out, this is a direct port of the Wii version of the game, the one that got higher scores than the Xbox and PS3 versions. Therefore having a Wii game on a handheld has a high coolness factor. The game experience is simple/dumb smashing and bashing with little strategy required. There is a nice set of different moves that can be unlocked, but the basic moves work in most cases as well or even better than the fancy moves you can unlock by spending the in game earned tokens. The special moves are cool, but pulling them off requires a high amount of dexterity in the limited space available on the 3DS. The results of having to press certain shoulder + face bottom combos is cramp.

Visually the game doesn't improve on the Wii version, in fact it looks slightly better because the screen is smaller, but the resolution obviously takes a hit. The 3D helps a bit, but there isn't a lot of it. In some areas it is hardly noticeable and in some of the pre-scripted game sequences it looks really well. The cut scenes, artwork, menus and the cartoon dissapointingly don't have any 3D at all, which is a bit of a let down and cheap. The advantage of the 3 D not being pronounced, is that you can crank it all the way up without issues, except during some boss battle sequences and in small (cramped) spaces where there is a fair amount of clipping and headache inducing focussing issues.

The sounds are fine, especially with headphones. The two main characters are voiced by the actors that also were in the movie, so that is good.

There is a fair bit of content, moves and abilities to unlock, but even then it isn't a long game and also not a very hard game. Other reviewers have said that it can be finished in 4 hours. That is probably true if you don't care for the unlockables (moves, upgrades and artwork). Trying to collect everything will take considerably longer, even though even at hard mode the game doesn't get difficult until the final stages. It is probably possible to get everything unlocked within 8-10 hours, which is really short as there is no multi-player and also no brawl type of game play. wireless play is mentioned in the manual, but that doesn't give any details on how to actually select it. The manual clearly was a rush job, with only one page of control information and that's it! After beating the game the ragnarok difficulty is unlocked, but finishing the game at that difficulty is just for bragging rights (if you are into that sort of thing). There is a bunch of cartoon episodes that are gradually unlocked while playing the game. The same as for the Wii version. It would have been extremely nice if these were given the 3D treatment, but they are just normal 2D instead. Still that's a nice addition.

The touch screen is hardly used except for displaying what is enabled and for unleashing certain special powers. That sounds okay, except that some of the buttons are tiny and that all other menus are strictly no touching.

This is a lazy port, if you own the Wii version, don't bother it is the same, but less easy to play. The controls are a bit of a let down, not much thought was spared on how to make use of some of the strength of the 3DS. Essentially it is a cheap cash-in. Still it is very satisfying and fun to play even though it is very easy and tempting to resort to button mashing. Sega obviously are aware that this game is months too late and have decided to sell it for 30 USD, look a bit harder and wait perhaps a bit longer and you can probably pick it up for 20. That is about as much as it is worth, for a couple of hours mindless brawling.

The Best THOR version on any console!

This is a GREAT comic book character, turned into a movie, and then a tie-in-game to boot. It is the best one out of any of the console releases. This particular version of THOR was made by a different developer and it is such a shame PS3 and XBOX 360 didn't use this developers. I am not going to go too much into the game details because it has already been said in previous reviews, but essentially this game is a hack and slash action/adventure game. It is very similar to God of War, Ghostrider, and Resident Evil. The player controls THOR, battles an onslaught of enemies, progresses, and then has a boss battle. It is nothing groundbreaking, but it works well here. It didn't work as well on the PS3/XBOX 360 versions. The player also gets to do some cool moves with the Wii controller that didn't bother me and controls are smooth and precise. It can get a bit repetitive at times because there is no variety with the minions that Thor fights. They are all the same character design, but that is to be expected. This game throws in a mixture of everything and makes it work. I wish the 3DS visuals were a bit more stunning because I've seen gorgeous games like in Mario 3DS and Zelda Orcarina of Time, so the 3DS is capable of it. The visuals are fine for me because game play matters more, but it is very PS2-esque and the cinematic scenes are just comic book images with spoken dialogue. Overall, this is a must have title and the price makes it all the more reason to get it. The Wii and Nintendo 3DS versions are the only ones worth getting. This is a direct port of the Nintendo Wii version.

Edit:

There is a patch coming out soon for Consoles that may address the freezing issues. The fun factor of this game when playing with friends rates this a 5/5 in my book, but the technical issues are such a turn-off that I literally turn off my Xbox the first time it locks up and don't bother going back.

If they can fix that, it take this game from merely "Good" to GREAT!

First things first, a compliment and the one thing I have absolutely no complaints about: The sound engine is INCREDIBLE!

The meat of the Crap Sandwich

There are lots and lots of problems. Capital 'L' LOTS. These issues are anecdotal, and vary be user experience but there is an EA support page that has vetted issues across multiple scenarios, again, and anecdotal but every one of my friends are having issues in some fashion. Playing last night (11/15/13) we were all booted from various servers at various points of time (loading in, playing, checking the score, changing maps)

This game is obviously half-cooked on current gen consoles, and according to the support thread PC players are not exempt. There have been server patches but no client patch on 360/PS3 yet.

The dirty truth:

-Random Freezing: During map cycles, during "Levelution" events, during server join, during round changes, during, "just standing there". This is absolutely freaking unacceptable in a retail release. This is some entry level QA stuff right here. They knew about this and let it release anyway. Shame on them.

-No party feature: I have to get a little teenager-y here but, Seriously! WHAT THE HELL? Dice has always missed the mark on this in their BF games on console, but this is just too much. In 2013, when every top tier release since 2006 has had a party system that isn't bass-ackwards, I simply can't understand the thinking behind this.

They also pulled Platoon's from Battlelog. DOUBLE WHAT THE HELL

-Graphical step back: If you need proof to see that the 360/PS3 are at the end of their run for pushing the graphical envelope in newer games, look no further. Halo 4, this ain't. When you've played every map a handful of times, you'll stop noticing or caring. There's stuff to blow up.

-No pre-game customization: I hate Battlelog, you shouldn't be forcing me to use my computer or tablet to organize stuff when I'm playing the damn game. During battle is not the time to force people to mess with their loadouts. This is, frankly, just stupid.

-Loadout Screen: The loadout screen is garbage. Pure garbage. I'm not unintelligent, I can navigate it, I can make it work. Somebody is in love with their UI design, and somebody has forgotten that you design this stuff for the players benefit, not your ego.

-LET ME EDIT MY CLASSES BETWEEN ROUNDS. Christ almighty how is this a hard concept?

-The UI: The UI sucks. It's a mess of menus and menus and more menus. Open up a menu? LOOK MORE MENUS! Say the work menu enough and you'll start to question your sanity.

-Battlelog: SeriouslyEA, DICE? NOBODY LIKES BATTLELOG. If you like Battlelog, great. I hate you. For realsies, guise, I'm super-cereal, I won't play this game on the PC where it arguably is superior on all fronts because of how bad Battlelog is. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND BACKING A FAILED HORSE LIKE THIS. Quit floggin this dead animal.

The Battlelog App sucks, reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally bad. I've queried all my friends, and so far between the Ipad 3, Nexus 7, 7.2, an overclocked HP Touchpad, and some random Samsung thingy, the Battlelog app is Crap. It's a cr(app)

The Good stuff:

When this game works, and you aren't fighting against the design to actually get in a match a play it with friends, it's a blast. They've stepped back some of the design changes that were brought about in Battlefield 3, and changed the all-around feel of it, to more Bad Company 2, than Battlefield 3.

There are still flashlights that can blind in dark corridors, red-dot lasers that act as a "SHOOT HERE" target beacon, and some weirdness on the sniping front that could use some tweaking. When the game is working the way it should, it's a 5/5.

Thanks for making 5-man fire teams a thing, and thanks for bringing back Commander

Miscellaneous: I am constantly baffled by the design decisions they've made starting with BF3.

We should just start calling it Bafflefield.

I started playing Battlefield with Bad Company 2. I loved it and pre-ordered BF3. I've enjoyed BF3 so much that I also preordered BF4. This is where my preordering days will come to a stop. I was expecting a gaming experience at least on par with BF3, but sadly this is a huge step down.

I only play multiplayer so my review will be based solely on that. On release day I expect server problems, and to a degree I can deal with those, I know they will get better in a few days. The problem is not with the servers, it is with the game as a whole. Half-baked would be putting it kindly. First there is the freezing. In the two hours I played last night my console froze four times, I had to reboot. Second there is no pre-game squad system. Want to play a match with friends? Too bad. You have to try to find a server that is empty enough so friends can try to join on you before the server fills up. Third, good luck finding a server. The server browser is a joke. I filter so it isn't supposed to show me full servers, but it does anyway and I have to scroll through hundreds of them to find an open server. That is once you actually get the list, it can take minutes just for it to load. So just do a quick match, right? Wrong, I got nothing but network errors when trying this.

So what about the gameplay, that has to be much better you say. Wrong again. The graphics are really poor. I know there is a new generation of consoles coming out and it SHOULD be much better on those, but those aren't out yet and you're charging full price for the current gen. The graphics should be at least on par with BF3. Enemies are very hard to see, everything seems to be washed out, textures are non-existent, there are no hit markers, the weapon customization is overly complicated and the list goes on.

So Dice and EA I'll throw you a bone and give this one star. But only because Amazon doesn't let me give you zero. I know a few of these items can be fixed with patches, but I paid full price for a complete product on day one. If companies are going to continue to go the route of shipping out incomplete software and fixing it later they should charge less day one and ramp up the cost as the game improves. You're giving users no incentive to pre order.

**Update 11/11/2013**

Returning the game. I played for about an hour tonight and it froze my console four times. I guess that is what the four in Battlefield four stands for. I give up. I want to love it, but it just hates me too much.

Best Deals for Battlefield 4 - Xbox 360

And that's just the beginning: The graphics are worse than BF3, the gameplay is stilted, and the glaringly obvious fault that nobody wants to say:

1. DICE just wanted to cash in on people wanting an Xbox One launch title before the One was released. They got $100 from me. Too bad I hadn't just donated it to Wounded Warriors Project. Maybe I just need to grow up and stop gaming entirely.

2. This will affect my decision to buy an Xbox One. If the BF4 online experience is this bad, what value does Xbox Live have for me? Just another bill, like this game.

It's cruel for me to give a one star rating, it really is, considering the massive amount of development and potential this game has. But I'm not buying potential, and like any game critic will tell you: NEVER SHIP INCOMPLETE GAMES!!!

This game is such a chore to try to play, and impossible to play online with anyone on your friends list, that I'd rather just go to the office and catch up on work. Seriously.

Honest reviews on Battlefield 4 - Xbox 360

I've always been a FPS fan. I've played all the COD's, BF, Halo's etc. I really liked BF3, with a few minor complaints, but overall a favorite so I was excited for this to come out. A lot of reviewers talking about the washed out colors and lack of texture and they are completely right. Even on a gaming monitor through HDMI and on all graphics settings I feel like I'm playing a XBOX (original) game. The online matching system is a joke. The weapon customization is frustrating and hard to figure out at first. I'm halfway through the campaign and it's just ok. Usually BF games have an awesome storyline while other FPS games I buy for multiplayer, but I'm debating just stopping now. It's a bit boring.

For how much I was excited for this game, I'm really disappointing. I hope I don't get let down by COD ghosts as well.

EA has demonstrated yet again their regard for their customers. This title (just like last year) hardly works on release. I'm 32 years old and am too proud to continue supporting a company that lies to me year after year just to get sales. I'm done with EA. They have ZERO excuse on this one. It's the same console, the same online system, and the game is almost completely the same. What excuse do they have for core features to not work?

In fact, as a customer of 10 years, I'm going to demand that Amazon refund my money on this. Maybe that will get some attention from EA.

Bugs: Impossible to play with your friends. There's not even a menu option to join as party. Joining "on top" of eachother, one at a time, results in the "command slot not available" bug.

Often impossible to join a game single player

Server browsing seems completely broken. No matter what filters you choose there are no results

No sound in helicopter (same bug in BF3)

Graphics are worse than on BF 3 as well.
