Muchi Muchi Pork! & Pink Sweets Review
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $99.95
Sale Price: $94.21
Today's Bonus: 6% Off

This disc contains two shmups from developer CAVE: Muchi Muchi Pork, and Pink Sweets. While they both feature lots of destruction and bullet dodging action, they are very different games once you get to know them. And yes, this disc really is region free, so it will work on a North American 360.
The menus are a bit confusing at first. From the menu starting point, push up or down for some universal screen options, and push left or right to get to the games. If you are using tate mode on a rotated screen, the menu selections don't properly fit on the screen, so I suggest looking around outside of tate mode before enabling that feature.
Muchi Muchi Pork:
Muchi Muchi Pork is a pig-themed shooter. Ok, so, bear with me: You play as a pig-girl riding a flying bicycle, shooting down enemy planes and tanks which eject parachuting piggies, collect those to power a giant chainsaw, and use that to convert enemies into gold. While this sounds totally whacked, you'll have to trust me, it's awesome.
Converting enemies to gold is a real joy to behold. The more times you do this, the higher their value becomes. Once fully upgraded, the whole screen is often completely buried in giant gold items, skyrocketing your score.
Learning to properly score is very important in Muchi Muchi Pork. You can get a ton of extra lives from points, which greatly increases your chance of completing the game.
Also included is an arrange mode, which has different game mechanics and more bullets. If you get a copy of the game with an unused DLC code, there's a third game mode that adds bosses from Pink Sweets. Don't sweat it if you aren't able to get a DLC code though, as this mode isn't very well balanced in my opinion.
Pink Sweets:
Pink Sweets is sort of a sequel to Ibara, with many of the same characters. While the visuals appear kiddy, featuring windup toys and colorful lego towers, this is a seriously difficult and hardcore game, possibly CAVE's hardest game ever.
Playing Pink Sweets is a balance between offense and defense. When you stop shooting, you charge up a shield to deflect certain bullet types. Once fully charged, you get a bomb that causes a good amount of damage and cancels out any bullets that hit it. This is critical for boss fights, where you often need to play defensively and wait for an opportunity to counter-attack. Simple strategies such as "shoot stuff, then use a bomb when in trouble" will not work here. This is definitely a thinking man's shmup.
This game also has medal chaining, which is one of my favorite scoring systems in shmups. As you defeat enemies, every once in a while they will release a medal. Every time you grab a medal, they increase in value. Miss a medal, and their value resets. This creates some interesting dilemmas for score-oriented players, where it may be very dangerous to grab a high point value medal before it drops off the screen.
There are two versions of the arcade game, 1.0 and 1.1, where 1.1 is tweaked a bit and less punishing when you die. If Pink Sweets is too difficult, try switching to 1.1 in the options.
As with Pork, we also get an arrange mode for Pink Sweets. In this arrange mode, using bombs or "hado" shots (hold bomb to use them) converts bullets to point items, in addition to different rules for charging up shields and bombs. This is actually a really cool arrange mode; I find it vastly more fun than the original.
The disk works flawlessly on American region Xbox. The game menus and voices are all in Japanese, but that doesn't detract from the fun.
Now about the games. Games made by Cave are hard to evaluate since they all consist of shooting. The theme, characters, and graphics animations are different.
In Muchi Pork you fly as one of the three anthropomorphic women. The art and concept is a little Bizzarre. These three anime style characters show a lot of cleavage and "goods" but they have a cutesy pig face and ears. Very strange. They fight a variety of equally ridiculous and funny enemies, many of which are also some farm animal.
The second game is about two girls from some sort of Rosé Garden. You choose one and shoot your way out a lot of high tech enemies. I couldn't understand the plot too much, but the characters have very little clothes on them.
Actual gameplay and the games are excellent and well polished. No bugs, no freezes. The action is hectic but you can always find an empty space to hide in.
If you are really good at these games you can access the world wide leaderboards. Most top spots are taken by the Japanese. Try to get your score up.
You get many options such as controls, practice mode, extreme difficulty mode, changing wallpapers, turning the gameplay screen sideways or increasing it in size.
So, I recommend getting Mushi Mushi Pork and Pink Sweers while you still can.

Buy G.H.O.S.T. Hunters - The Haunting of Majesty Manor
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $19.99
Sale Price: $3.00
Today's Bonus: 85% Off

In "G.H.O.S.T. Hunters: the Haunting of Majesty Manor", your job is to figure out who, or what, is haunting the manor by finding lists of items embedded in various rooms throughout the house.
I found this game to be very similar to the "Mystery Case Files" series as both are of the same "search & find" genre and they are about equal in terms of fun & difficulty level.
One neat addition to "Ghost Hunters" is the spectrometer. This tool becomes activated when you ask for a hint, allowing you to scan the room looking for "psychic energy" which will eventually lead you to one of the hidden items on the list.
Overall, I found this game to be really fun & addictive, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys "search & find" type games.
This game was lots of fun and we had a blast trying to find the hidden pictures as a team. The spooky music and playing it at night with the lights off made it that much more fun.
I purchased 2 others from the maker as this was a blast and really keeps you on your toes....

While "G.H.O.S.T. Hunters, the Haunting of Majesty Manor" is loosely wrapped around a mystery, players are not really actively involved in solving the mystery they do not question suspects, find clues, or play any part in really solving the mystery the game itself does all that for you. What players do is look for hidden objects in various locations. The hidden objects can be obvious for example if you are looking for a tie, look for a man wearing a tie. Other items are a bit more difficult to find for example a bat could be either a baseball bat or the mammal.
"G.H.O.S.T. Hunters, the Haunting of Majesty Manor" is a good game for players new to hidden object games. Unlike some hidden object games, there is more than enough time to solve each puzzle. There are also plenty of hints and a chance to get even more hints by locating batteries hidden in certain scenes. You do lose time if you click too fast or too randomly on objects, but there's no need to do either since there's so much time allowed. Once you find all the required objets you can either move on or stay for the "bonus" round which simply means find the remaining objects in each location (you have to find a set number of objects in each room to move to the next level). Unlike other hidden object games (such as the Mystery Case Files Series) there are no real bonus sections involving puzzles like jigsaw puzzles once you finish one level you move on to the next level. Even though you only have five minutes to solve each puzzle in the final round (which eliminates suspect after suspect), I found it incredibly easy to solve. Finally, while I usually find music in hidden object games add a lot of atmosphere to the game, the music in this game kept cutting in and out, disappearing completely for large stretches of the game, which means the majority of the game was played in silence (even the meter used for hints didn't always have sound, which made it hard to use the hints).
While "G.H.O.S.T. Hunters, the Haunting of Majesty Manor" can be played over and over because the hidden objects and guilty party change each time you play it, seasoned hidden object game players will quickly get tired of the game. However, this is an excellent game for players new to hidden object games.
Because of the visual aspect of the spectrometer, this game is highly suitable for playing by the hearing impaired or with speakers off. I found myself turning the sound up when I caught the whispery voices, although I never could figure out what they were saying. LOL. In that case, I wished for captions too, although it's entirely possible that they weren't saying anything, and, certainly, they weren't saying anything noteworthy for the game. As far as I know, the soundtrack was just spooky sounds, footsteps, etc.
If you don't like HOGs (hidden object games), don't bother, but if you do, especially if you like them pure, this is a can't miss!!

Honest reviews on G.H.O.S.T. Hunters - The Haunting of Majesty Manor
Viola Majesty is troubled by odd events at her Manor. She's been hearing strange noises, items are missing, and objects seem to be moving on their own. Desperate, she hires Ghost Hunters, Inc. to discover what is going on at Majesty Manor. As one of the members of the team you are given fifteen days to solve the case by looking for hidden objects in 19 rooms and eliminating 15 suspects. At the end of those 15 days, you will uncover the culprit in a final, fast paced round. While "G.H.O.S.T. "G.H.O.S.T Hunters" is 100% a hidden object game--no minigames, no puzzles, NOTHING else. If you like hidden object fun, this is for you! The pictures are stuffed full, yet the hidden objects aren't too small (at least, not to me). I bought this as a replacement for the original which had started to go bad. This is the wii version gone portable and really it makes more sense as a hand held game. It's straightforward room to room game play ,beating on hoards of foes and frequent save points really makes it a pick up and play game. Combat relies on buttons for attacks/blocking while touch screen dose your special powers. The analog stick moves Thor as well as helps to chain together combos. Combat is fast paced simple and really fun to do. The higher your combo count the more powerful Thor gets. You get experience points for every enemy that you can use to unlock health upgrades, upgrade your power meter, and slots for the perks you find. Levels are nice and long and offer bonuses for destroying everything like art and perks that power up thor during certain conditions. To be honest the combat can get a little repetitive as the hoards just keep coming and even unlocking moves it can get a bit stale so it's best played in the right doses. Luckily big bosses battles really mix up the combat and theres even flying levels that play out like a rail shooter. The game has a good amount of content levels are nice and long and theres about 15 of them and offers replayabilty as you can play on higher difficulty with your unlocked upgrades as well as challenge arenas. Finally the 3D is a bit all over the place. it's not on during the comic book like cut scenes and is hardly noticeable in some points. Other times it look good, real time cut scenes has things popping out, and adds depth to the areas as well has things flying out at you at points. over aal Thor is a solid action game and i recommend it to any 3Ds fan who wants a naction game with good content.
Visually the game doesn't improve on the Wii version, in fact it looks slightly better because the screen is smaller, but the resolution obviously takes a hit. The 3D helps a bit, but there isn't a lot of it. In some areas it is hardly noticeable and in some of the pre-scripted game sequences it looks really well. The cut scenes, artwork, menus and the cartoon dissapointingly don't have any 3D at all, which is a bit of a let down and cheap. The advantage of the 3 D not being pronounced, is that you can crank it all the way up without issues, except during some boss battle sequences and in small (cramped) spaces where there is a fair amount of clipping and headache inducing focussing issues.
The sounds are fine, especially with headphones. The two main characters are voiced by the actors that also were in the movie, so that is good.
There is a fair bit of content, moves and abilities to unlock, but even then it isn't a long game and also not a very hard game. Other reviewers have said that it can be finished in 4 hours. That is probably true if you don't care for the unlockables (moves, upgrades and artwork). Trying to collect everything will take considerably longer, even though even at hard mode the game doesn't get difficult until the final stages. It is probably possible to get everything unlocked within 8-10 hours, which is really short as there is no multi-player and also no brawl type of game play. wireless play is mentioned in the manual, but that doesn't give any details on how to actually select it. The manual clearly was a rush job, with only one page of control information and that's it! After beating the game the ragnarok difficulty is unlocked, but finishing the game at that difficulty is just for bragging rights (if you are into that sort of thing). There is a bunch of cartoon episodes that are gradually unlocked while playing the game. The same as for the Wii version. It would have been extremely nice if these were given the 3D treatment, but they are just normal 2D instead. Still that's a nice addition.
The touch screen is hardly used except for displaying what is enabled and for unleashing certain special powers. That sounds okay, except that some of the buttons are tiny and that all other menus are strictly no touching.
This is a lazy port, if you own the Wii version, don't bother it is the same, but less easy to play. The controls are a bit of a let down, not much thought was spared on how to make use of some of the strength of the 3DS. Essentially it is a cheap cash-in. Still it is very satisfying and fun to play even though it is very easy and tempting to resort to button mashing. Sega obviously are aware that this game is months too late and have decided to sell it for 30 USD, look a bit harder and wait perhaps a bit longer and you can probably pick it up for 20. That is about as much as it is worth, for a couple of hours mindless brawling.
This is a GREAT comic book character, turned into a movie, and then a tie-in-game to boot. It is the best one out of any of the console releases. This particular version of THOR was made by a different developer and it is such a shame PS3 and XBOX 360 didn't use this developers. I am not going to go too much into the game details because it has already been said in previous reviews, but essentially this game is a hack and slash action/adventure game. It is very similar to God of War, Ghostrider, and Resident Evil. The player controls THOR, battles an onslaught of enemies, progresses, and then has a boss battle. It is nothing groundbreaking, but it works well here. It didn't work as well on the PS3/XBOX 360 versions. The player also gets to do some cool moves with the Wii controller that didn't bother me and controls are smooth and precise. It can get a bit repetitive at times because there is no variety with the minions that Thor fights. They are all the same character design, but that is to be expected. This game throws in a mixture of everything and makes it work. I wish the 3DS visuals were a bit more stunning because I've seen gorgeous games like in Mario 3DS and Zelda Orcarina of Time, so the 3DS is capable of it. The visuals are fine for me because game play matters more, but it is very PS2-esque and the cinematic scenes are just comic book images with spoken dialogue. Overall, this is a must have title and the price makes it all the more reason to get it. The Wii and Nintendo 3DS versions are the only ones worth getting. This is a direct port of the Nintendo Wii version.

As other reviewers have pointed out, this is a direct port of the Wii version of the game, the one that got higher scores than the Xbox and PS3 versions. Therefore having a Wii game on a handheld has a high coolness factor. The game experience is simple/dumb smashing and bashing with little strategy required. There is a nice set of different moves that can be unlocked, but the basic moves work in most cases as well or even better than the fancy moves you can unlock by spending the in game earned tokens. The special moves are cool, but pulling them off requires a high amount of dexterity in the limited space available on the 3DS. The results of having to press certain shoulder + face bottom combos is cramp.Visually the game doesn't improve on the Wii version, in fact it looks slightly better because the screen is smaller, but the resolution obviously takes a hit. This is a direct port of the Nintendo Wii version.

i was pleasantly surprised with how good this game is. It's a huge adventure game with really good graphics. Kind of like the force unleashed but with thor powers. It's extremely fun. Glad i bought it.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Thor: God of Thunder - Nintendo 3DS
It was a really good movie based game. Lots of fun, long and good story. Looks good in 3D and 2D.Tuesday, October 7, 2014

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Reviews
One of the greatest 2D fighting games of all time. Marvel vs. Capcom 2. I am literally on this game every day. I've spent hours upon hours on this game, I just can't get enough. According to a website that tracks certain xbox statistics, MvC2 is already my #3 most played game and I've had my 360 for more than a year already. Marvel just came out a few months ago, and I even stayed up to see it pop on the marketplace just so I can get in a few games before I had to "wake up" for work. When I got home that day, I had never seen what I saw that day. I had 17 friends online and 15 of them were on MvC2. On the release date. Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Fallout 3, none of them had as many people on, on it's opening day.
MvC2 is a remake straight from the Dreamcast version of the game (undeniably the best version of the game). All characters are unlocked before-hand so depending on your view that can be a pro or a con. There are lobbies you can set up, with upto 6 people at a time (2 players and 4 spectators) so even when you're not playing you can watch and pick up some new tricks.
The only complaint one might have against this game is that it is not a n00b-friendly game. You better have some sort of knowledge about fighting games before picking this up, preferably some street fighter experience. Heading online you are almost sure to find teams that consist of the following players: Magneto, Juggernaut, Storm, Cable, C. Commando, Sentinel, Iron Man, Psylocke...get used to it. Many players have been playing MvC2 on their dreamcasts for these past 8 years, so be prepared.
Online is virtually lag free, With more than 1000 games under my belt in both ranked and player, I've almost NEVER had a laggy game. There have been a few, yes, but very rare. The only thing you have to worry about is getting spammed, that will almost ALWAYS happen on ranked.
In terms of the achievements, as it's an arcade game there are 200 G's for you to collect. I have maxed this game out, and without a doubt the hardest achievement is 50 OCV's (One Character Victories). Winning 50 games ranked by w/o switching your first character. You can use assists, multi-specials, etc. but the first person that you choose may never leave the field of play. The others are pretty easy, it's easily 150 G's if you try.
Anyways, I do love to mention that I have close to 100 total games (I believe the tally is now at 91), and I can say honestly without a doubt, if I had only one game to play online for the rest of the year it would be...Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
It was a lot of fun back then, so when I heard this was going to be released on the XBLA, I jumped on it. And it's only 1200 Microsoft Points(15 USD)!!!
The new features like online play make this game even better. Take on the world, but I'm warning you, some people are really, really good. The online play can be a bit laggy at some times, so its best to play with people that are pinging on the lower side.
This is an exact port of the absolutely perfect Dreamcast version of the game, so there aren't any gameplay revisions, so characters like Cable, Iron Man, and Magento are still incredibly unbalanced and overpowered, which show how true this port really is.
My only complaints about this game is that you cannot map one button to two actions, which makes it difficult to do attacks that require you to hit two buttons at once, considering you are using a Xbox 360 controller.
For fans of Capcom, Marvel, or any fighting fans, this is a definite buy, considering that USED copies of MvC 2 can run upwards of $50 dollars due to their short manufacturing run. So, MvC 2, gets a 5/5.

Big fan of the arcade version of this game. Makes me think back to my button mashing days. I still LOVE this game. What's not to love about Street Fighter vs Captain America vs Spider Man vs The X-Men vs Iron Man? And for only $15? Can't beat that with a stick...well I guess you could try...but don't.Thursday, August 28, 2014

Cheap Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex - Xbox
Crash is almost a must-have on the Xbox.
It's fun for everyone in the family (my 7 year old played it without a problem but younger kids may not be able to). It will keep you busy for a while (there are about 25 different levels to fight through, plus 5 "bosses" and you can revisit levels to get more lives or other bonuses). There's almost no learning curve.
It's just plain old fun!
If you liked Fuzion Frenzy, and you don't mind single player games, then you'll like Crash.
Some complain that it's graphics aren't breakthrough but they are certainly sufficient for you to clearly see what is going on.
The only real complaint: I wish there were a 2 player mode.
Or if your someone who has never played crash and have an xbox go and buy it. This is only the FIRST next generation CRASH and I can't wait for more...I think CRASH will still be a cool game for the next 5 years. this game is kinda slow but is really fun at times!...you heard it from Lunar Larry
Any gamers familiar with the old Crash games will find the controls and graphics as reliable as ever. The formula also is solid (5 stages per level 5 levels in all) giving players the ability to choose where they go in each level. Levels vary from basic platforming to running from charging onslaughts to vehicle levels to underwater levels to battling bosses. Some of the levels are a cake-walk while others will leave you with "rage building!" (I like to throw my controller and utter some favorite words). The most frustrating apect on this new offering (and the only downside) are certain levels that leave the player with tricky camera angles and poor depth perception.
Aside from merely winning a level and getting your gem, Crash allows numerous areas for repeat playing:
1) Find and destroy every crate per stage (harder than you think) to get a BONUS GEM! Collecting all these gems opens up new areas.
2) Getting through certain stages without dying to open up a Death Gauntlet where hidden gems await. These hidden gems will then open up new stages on other levels.
3) TIME TRIAL! Try to conquer a level in record time. The game saves all times and completing all 25 levels this way opens up even more hidden wonders.
All in all, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex will keep any platform gamer happy for days (weeks if you're not very good). It's not the greatest game in the world but it does manage to capture the two key essentials of any good game...
IT LOOKS GOOD AND IT'S FUN!

First sitting I was worried that i just wasted 50 bucks. The game feels very diffrent than playing Naughty Dog CRASH.The reason it feels strange is cuz this game was developed by Travelr's Tales.Wich means the artistic value is kinda missing, the controls feel a little weird at first, also the camera seems akward...So i was not really enjoying this version of CRASH. But I kept playing and sure enough started to love it (got used to the change)...there are some sweet suprises thrown in. If your a returning crash fan looking for CRASH for the year 2000 get Naughty Dog's new baby ((jak and daxter)) on PS2...But if you just want a new Crash with richer graphics gET THIS GAME.Or if your someone who has never played crash and have an xbox go and buy it. I've played every Crash game ever made but nothing could prepare me for the dissapointment I felt when I bought this game for the Playstation 2 system. The load times were LONG to the point of really making the game unplayable. Everytime you wanted to change levels you had to wait an ETERNITY for the levels to load up. But I really wanted to play this game so when the XBOX version came out I bought it hoping the load times would be much shorter. And that they were. The load times average about 7 seconds on most levels and once you get past that the game is actually a lot of fun. The graphics got a little touchup, nothing fancy, but the fur coating on Crash really looks cool. I will say that although this game is rated for EVERYONE, it is a very tough game. Younger children might have a hard time with this one, heck I've been playing video games for over 20 years and even I had a hard time finishing this one. Great game but not much new or innovating here. Just your standard Crash on the run game! Good but not outstanding. Definately worth the [] bucks it costs now though.Honest reviews on Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex - Xbox
The game is average in just about all aspects: graphics, gameplay, and storyline. The game doesn't provide anything over the standard Mario-type-smashing-crates-and-collecting-fruit game, but is still fun, nonetheless, and provides a good amount of play time. Many of the levels are too challenging for younger players. There are some levels where the player "dies" by missing a jump, falling into water, and drowning. I thought the image of the character floating face down in the water wasn't appropriate for younger kids. For the most part, though, it will provide entertainment for all ages.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex - Xbox
There are some things in life that just help keep things FUN (albeit frustrating at times). One of those things is a Crash Bandicoot game. I've played the first two offerings for the PSX but have basically stayed away from Crash since then. But my trusty old Xbox needed something new so I decided to give CRASH BANDICOOT: THE WRATH OF CORTEX a try.Any gamers familiar with the old Crash games will find the controls and graphics as reliable as ever. I'm running Win7 (x64) and there were a few hoops to jump through to get the receiver recognized, but if you follow the instructions provided by 'Win-7 64-bit' here in the reviews (which was cribbed from an answers.mircosoft post) it's a painless process.
If the disc that came with your receiver doesn't have the x64 folder (my disc was lacking it) you'd be well served to download and install the driver/software pack from Microsoft. Since links are blocked here simply search for "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows" and click-on the page titled "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows | Microsoft Hardware", select your system, download and install.
After installing the driver/software pack, you then need to follow the other set of instructions;

Overall this a cheap way to get an existing XBox 360 controller recognized and operating on a windows system. And for Win7 (x64) users this is the process that you have to do regardless of manufacturer of the receiver. So given the reality that Microsoft abandoned products of this type, this is next best thing and quite affordable to boot.
Another thing, if your on windows 7 64bit, You have to point to go in the disc itself, and copy the "USB Driver" folder over from the disc, onto your desktop for ease. Now go into windows and install the drivers manually. Point it to C:\users\$USER\Desktop\USB DRIVER\Driver_64\win7
It should install successfully. Now if your on 32bit w7, then point it to the same but instead Driver_32. Hope this helps.
Sure it might be 3rd party and doesn't say "microsoft" but who cares.. it works fine.
Once that was loaded the controller would not connect. I opened the start menu, went to devices and printers, and clicked on the "unknown device". On the Hardware tab I hit Properties, and then clicked Change Settings in the window that popped up. In the Driver tab I hit update driver, and then "Browse My Computer for Driver Software". Then I hit Browse, and clicked on my DVD drive that had the driver disc in it. I hit next and a dialog popped up warning me the software was not from a verified source and could be harmful. I chose to install the driver anyway, and now everything connects and works properly.
Great price for a product that saves me from having to purchase a whole new controller that has a wireless receiver in it. I bought this to play Skyrim on PC since the updates will come faster and more often.

This is NOT a certified Microsoft device. As Microsoft no longer produces a receiver of this type this is probably your best bet. Discount Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV FightPad - Akuma
If Madcatz's FightPads have one great thing going for them, it's that the controllers are roughly 1/5th the price of most decent arcade sticks on the market. Those who are interested in trying Street Fighter for the first time and know better than to try and rough it out with the standard Xbox controller should seriously consider the pad as an affordable alternative to emptying out wallets and collecting change from the couch for a TE or a HRAP. Most everyone will use this controller for Street Fighter IV or Super Street Fighter IV, games that require more practice and refinement than other major fighting games such as Soul Calibur or Mortal Kombat. With that in mind, if you aren't sure that you are committed to the game enough so to learn the combos and tactics, Madcatz's FightPad is a good way to dip in and see if you like Street Fighter without the possibility of leaving disappointed and broke. Put simply: the game is not for everyone.
With that out of the way, the controller itself is similar to the terrific Sega Saturn pad, which is very good for fighting games. I disagree that the controller feels cheap, although it is extremely light even when compared to a standard Xbox controller. And just like other reviews have established: the buttons are great, the directional pad is okay. More than half of the characters in the game operate with QCBs and QCFs, which I find very comfortable to pull off with the FightPad. However, charge characters such as Chun-Li or Vega are much easier to play using a fightstick.
I have had this controller for over a year now, and would likely buy another simply for its price and its portability. I usually play SSFIV on the 360, but if I'm on the go it is nice to boot up vanilla on the ol' laptop and bust some heads with yesteryear's installment. In these cases, a fightstick is bulky and a chore to pack up, while the FightPad is not can be toted just about anywhere. So, in conclusion, the Madcatz FightPad is certainly an economical and logical path to giving Street Fighter a shot, as its shortcomings are greatly overwhelmed by its low-price point. Cheers.
Let's face it, the regular X-Box controller just wasn't designed to accommodate the needs for fighting games. Pulling off combos and getting special moves to come out when you want them to can be a real chore with the normal X-Box control stick and buttons. While they may take a small bit of getting used to at first, the comfortable pad and Sega Genesis style buttons of this Fightpad offer a much better experience.
I saw a few comments complaining about how this is a wired controller as opposed to wireless, but I don't see why anyone should care about that. Wired means you don't have to use batteries or a charger, and the USB input allows the controller to be used for PC games as well.
If you're a competitive player, then an arcade stick is still probably the best way to go, but the FightPad is the next best option no matter what type of fighting gamer you are.
After buying countless replacements to play Street Fighter games on the PC, I found this one to be the best. Not only does it have a large, durable d-pad, but it also has a nice feel. It's got 6 large buttons on the front, which makes it easier to pull off throws, focus cancels (SF4), or overheads (SF3). It also feels light. But don't let that fool you into thinking this controller is cheap. Far from it. It has stood against constant mashing, lots of 720 motions, and occasional tosses after frustrating online matches :D
And although Street Fighter purists will lambaste me for using turbo, I found the feature to be useful when set to the top buttons (3 punches and 3 kicks) to make pulling off ultras much easier in a tough online match. Though I don't think it's programmable to do link combos.
I am not a joy stick guy, so the transition from the 360 controller to this was pretty smooth.
While a wireless pad would have been great, the USB cable still its perks: no batteries wasted and PC play.
Overall: this stylish pad gets a 5/5 for it's practicality, durability and price.

Cheers.

OK, this is a great controller! I got SF4 the 2nd day of release and played with the 360 controller for many months. I was determined to get the Akuma but it was too pricy early on. Eventually I got it and all I can say is that I can pull off the combos much easier and the controller just has a superior layout. Some combos are still very hard for me like Vega's, but as for the Shoryuken type it's great. Plus it's great on many others but the combos where it's: charge , 3 kick or 3 punch, take some getting used to, Vega's is a similar charge ultra/super. Great controller and it's much more comfortable playing with! SF4 itself is a great game too, 9.5 my book!Best Deals for Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV FightPad - Akuma
Want to step up your fighting game ability without shelling out $100 for a decent arcade stick? If so, this is the controller for you.Let's face it, the regular X-Box controller just wasn't designed to accommodate the needs for fighting games.
Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV FightPad - Akuma
I have been searching for a controller with 6-buttons on the face for a very long time. Ever since the Sega Genesis and Saturn died, the gaming world has universally adopted the 4-button-on-front interface. That is great for most types of games, but NOT for Street Fighter.

One day, I was thinking to myself...
What would it be like to put other characters in a super smash brothers style fighter. Here, I got my answer. Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL is a very good take on the subject. With characters from my childhood, leading to the shows i like today, just playing the game with friends is just amazing.
THE GAME ITSELF:
The game plays alot like Super Smash Bros. Brawl but with different gimmick's such as;
+The Damage gimmick is still in this game, but if a player hits more then 300% damage in story mode, they will automatically die without warning.
+The final smash (re-named Punch Time Explosion in this game) can be used at anytime, as long as the player has enough energy cubes to do it. but, the PTE button takes up a certain button, whereas smash bros brawl uses its neutral B/1 (special attack) to use a final smash. to sum it all up, the final smash system is pretty good, but the fact that it uses one button and that one button isn't used at all but that one thing is pretty useless to me.
PROS:
+ This game features an "unlock shop", were the player can buy extra character's (only character's that were featured in the 3DS version as assist are available to purchase) more costumes for your favorite character, more stages to fight on, and even hilarious memorable clips from my favorite CN shows!
+ The game takes alot of arena's from different CN shows, to be exact, each CN show in the game gets 2 to 3 arena's to play on.
+ The RowdyRuff Boy's are playable
+ Very catchy theme song.
CONS:
The game is Ed, Edd, and Eddy less... (I have read that Cartoon Network sold the rights of the Edd's to a different company after "big picture show").
The Assist character's harm the summoner as well (only General Scar and Madam Foster are the only known assist characters that don't hard the summoner).
The UI in game could be re-sized to the point were I don't have to squint my eyes to see my damage percent.
A chunk of the character roster needs to be unlocked by completing story mode (you only start with 9 characters).
Some CPU players walk on air at times.
synergy attacks is a 1 in 28 chance to land on the right character (to preform a synergy attack, the player has to collect a summon cube. However, the character that comes out has to be the one that matches your character in some way. (ex: Fred Fred Burger and Ben, Gwen and Blossom, Edwardo and Bubbles, and Numbah 2 and Scotsman)).
STORY MODE:
The story mode could use some work. I was expecting character voice overs, not blossom yelling "I'm blossom!" with subtitles stating something completely different. Pretty much the only character that actually speaks outside of subtitles is the narrator, and he's no fun to listen to on some occasions. Sometimes you run into stuff that can be easily avoided, but you HAVE to do so to continue on.
PROS:
+4 player story mode co-op, were as Super Smash Bros. Brawl only has 2.
+Very funny dialogue.
+bubbles always makes the game more fun to play, because she mistakenly makes fun of almost everyone she comes across.
CONS:
-platforming is not a challenge here
-the Dexter's FPS challenge works terrible with the Wiimote+Numchuck/Wiimote alone controllers.
-Mini games within the level can get repetitive.
-the story mode is too short in my opinion, Even on hard, i managed to make it though the entire game without getting a game over once.
REPLAY VALUE:
6/10
Gets Boring alone after awhile, only appeals to fellow CN fan's.
OVERALL SCORE: 4/5
I love how Cartoon Network gave me my childhood back with a mix of my favor ate fighting game, if your looking for a inexpensive Wii Fighter, this is the game to buy for the holiday's!
There are 26 playable characters and 26 battle arenas. My favorite thing about this game is that once you beat a character, you can then play as them. Up to four people can play at a time and there is also a pretty cool story mode. Punch Time Explosion XL is rated Everyone 10+ by the ESRB. This is a really fun game for both kids and adults. Beware though, if you are anything like me, you are going to need a little help from the kids. I really like that though because adults are always teaching kids how to do things and it's really neat to see a child's face after they have taught you something. I love it!
If you're familiar with video games, this one plays just like Super Smash Bros., from it's story mode to the Battle Mode which is really the meat of the game.
It clones the gameplay pretty well, though there are a lot of balancing issues between the various characters, so don't expect play sessions to get as competitive as they do with most other fighting games out there.
Most of the characters are LOCKED before beating the Story Mode, same as SSM, and the Story Mode will take an hour to two hours to complete, depending on how thorough you are (a friend and I literally ran through it whenever we could on Co-Op Mode) One thing I have to note is that while there is a CO-OP Mode to the Story Mode in the game, there are SEVERAL portions that are ONE PLAYER ONLY, so your friend is left twiddling the thumbs at least one a level. Also note that while you will not unlock all the characters through STORY mode, you'll be able to earn enough credits with one play through to unlock the rest in the game's SHOP section.
Another thing to note is that none of the original voice actors actually do any work for this game, so only expect some of the characters to sound like they should, and expect others to sound WAY off (Father from KND is nowhere close)
My final complaint is that the Save Data in not transferrable. You can copy it to and from a memory stick or flash drive, but it's locked to the User account it was created on and there's no way around this, so if you want to bring it to a friends' house with all the unlockable characters, you'll need to bring your PS3 as well.
Overall, this is a cool game to say you own, and to show friends when they come over, but that's it. You won't get hooked in like other fighting games, and you'll probably want to play something else after about a half hour to an hour.
It's basically the same game but with new stuff added to it. It's got the original 18 characters (Yes, even Captain Planet. Go get the Season 1 DVD set from Shout Factory for Gaia's sake !) plus 8 new playable characters. The first half of newbies are Johnny Bravo, Kevin Leven, Aku and Him, who have been "promoted" from their previous appearances as player assists. The other four are new to the scene: Hoss Delgado (spectral exterminator from "The Grim Adventures"), The Toiletnator (pathetic KND villain), The Scotsman (friend/rival of Samurai Jack) and even a young Ben Tennyson (from when he found the Omnitrix device for the very first time).
The story mode is pretty much the same, but up to four players can play together as well as take on each other in different battle modes like PTE Mode to see who can collect the most energy cubes and Drones Mode where you take on numerous enemies. Also, you can earn points to buy new levels (such as the KND Moon Base and Candy Island from "Flapjack"), the aforementioned characters, alternate costumes, and even 30 TV show clips starring your favorite characters ! Another thing, aside from using PTE super attacks and assist characters, you can also use the brand-new special "Synergy Attack" with certain player assists. There are many different combinations of characters and player assists, so you'd better grab that question-marked cube when it appears so you can try them all out !
Well, overall, I have to say it's good, but still, it's not good enough. No sign of any Ed boys no matter how much we demand it (ideas for alternate costumes for the Eds: Ed Lothar the Viking, Edd The Masked Mumbler, Eddy Professor Scam) as does current hits like "Generator Rex", "Adventure Time with Finn and Jake", and "The Amazing World of Gumball". At least some of the voices have been improved and the animation in the gameplay and cutscenes have better flow.
No matter, it'll at least buy me some time until the next "Super Smash Bros." game or perhaps a Nicktoons-themed fighting game. Other games that will satiate my skills include "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" a similar brawler game and "Cartoon Network Racing" featuring other characters from shows like "Cow and Chicken" and "Courage the Cowardly Dog". Still, it is kind of fun to see which character will prove who's the best.

This game is pretty much a straight clone of super smash bros. for those that arent familiar with smash bros. it is essentially a 2 d fighting game with the roster consisting of nintendo characters and arenas inspired by nintendo games. Now take that concept and replace nintendo with cartoon network and you have this game and thats not a bad thing, for me anyway. I have enjoyed smash bros and i think its very entertaining, i just prefer to play as samurai jack or johhny bravo instead of link or wario. Just my preference thats all. Now for this game itself, its surprisingly well done. You can tell the people working on the game definately had an appreciation of the source material. A generous roster of Characters that all have unique moves that suit them, tons of assist characters and a good amount of modes and unlockables keep this entertaining. My only real gripe with this game is the overall lack of polish. I own the 360 version and the graphics arent great wich is sad because the menus and some of the animation during certain story segments look crisp and vibrant in hd, then you start playing the game and i guess considering these are all cartoon characters i was hoping more for an interactive cartoon but instead its kind of bland. The sound could have been more punchy. It sometimes doesent feel like your hits connect because the sound is kind of weak. Lastly, more characters please. This isnt really a complaint because like i said before, the roster is pretty generous. 26 total playable characters and some of the them have costume variants that give the illusion of more characters such as the powerpuff girls can be replaced as the rowdy ruff boys. Its just bound to happen in this fan service type of game where you end up thinking, i wish this character or that character was in here. So to sum this review up, this is an enjoyable game. If you like smash bros and cartoon network you will like this. Fingers crossed for a sequel with more everything, mostly polish.Best Deals for Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL - Xbox 360
I used to have so much trouble deciding what to get for the men and boys in my life for the holidays. I've now learned that you can't go wrong with a video game. My nephew is obsessed with the Wii and I cannot believe how good he is at it! He is constantly correcting me while we play, which is good because I get really frustrated when I get stuck. We had a lot of fun playing Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL for Wii.There are 26 playable characters and 26 battle arenas. Reviews of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - PC
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $19.99
Sale Price: $8.75
Today's Bonus: 56% Off

Red Alert 3 is a great game with fun units, a strong campaign, great multiplayer elements, and fantastic acting and production values. A lot of effort was clearly put into it and I give the developers all the credit in the world.
I played this game on a friend's computer and did not purchase it myself, and in fact cancelled my pre-order for the reasons I give below.
Unfortunately, I cannot give this game a positive review due to the actions of the publisher, Electronic Arts, in including the dangerous SecuROM software that is installed during installation of the game. This software, SecuROM 7.xx, does not uninstall when the game is uninstalled and will provide security loopholes as well as preventing legitimate CD burning or emulation software from functioning, as well as potentially causing other documented errors. I refuse to install software which is effectively rentware and that does nothing but punish its legitimate customers.
Red Alert 3 has already been pirated and is freely available on multiple torrent sites. At least twenty thousand people are downloading it as I write this review. I will not pirate it myself; but I refuse to provide my money to a company that treats me like a pirate. I will go without. SecuROM, by this very fact, has been proven useless. EA has had major backlash on this issue before with Spore and has not learned its lesson. We shall see if it ever does.
Electronic Arts Says:
"Authorization limits
... you are limited to five authorizations. So what's an authorization? The first time you actually run the game on a machine, we will authorize that machine. If you reach the authorization limit, the game will not run on a new machine. If you make major changes to the computer (switching out multiple pieces of hardware, install a new OS, etc.) you might need to reauthorize the machine."
What they don't mention here is that a "major change" to your computer can be quite a bit less than changing out multiple pieces of hardware. In fact, changing a keyboard, mouse, or joystick or any number of USB devices could be regarded as a "major change". Upgrading drivers for you sound or video card might be a major change. The rules are not defined and you will not know for sure what may or may not use up an authorization.
So if you use up all of your Authorizations? Electronic Arts says:
"Just give us a call...
If you had a run of bad luck, some hardware failures, a botched OS install, your notebook was stolen, you spilled a coke on your keyboard you get the idea and all five of your authorizations have been used up, just give us a call. We'll work with you and provide as many additional authorizations as are appropriate."
What they fail to mention here is that calling Electronic Arts for technical support is not free. You will be charged 2.50/minute plus any toll charges.
Now consider the idea that you have bought 5 Electronic Arts games over time and one by one they all run out of authorizations. When the authorizations start running out, do you honestly want to call EA every time you make a hardware change to ask them to allow you to play a game you already paid for? What a hassle!
Please don't buy this game; don't support this kind of DRM scheme. I don't know if this scheme is to prevent used-game resales or if they really believe it makes a dent in piracy. It doesn't matter why, they are going too far and punishing the honest consumer, so it's time to punish their sales.
If it wasn't bad enough that I was told I would be limited to 5 authorizations, the CD-KEY was invalid and I couldn't even install the game.. EA's offer to fix this? Tough Luck, you can try guessing every key from 0-9, or a A to z Z.
So I decided to confront the developers only to be told that if I didn't tone down my questions that I would be banned from the forum. Then it was later released that if you are banned from voicing your opinion, that you would also be banned from any future or past EA games you own.
Do not buy or support these sleazy, horrible people.
Unfortunately, the series, which was originally developed by Westwood Studios, has been taken over by EA (Electronic Arts). EA executives are so paranoid about unlicensed playing of the game that they are shipping every copy of it with hidden spyware known as SecuROM.
SecuROM is developed by Sony, the same company responsible for packaging rootkits with their music CDs back in 2005. (A rootkit is a program that installs itself in the depths of an operating system like Windows, and is designed to be able to take control of the operating system).Needless to say, you should not trust any game that comes with SecuROM. Ask yourself: Do you really know what's in that software and what it it might do once it installs itself into your copy of Windows? You don't, because SecuROM isn't free software.
It's proprietary commercial spyware developed by one of the biggest media conglomerates on Earth. A company that views every customer as a potential criminal.
And with EA's restrictions on how many times you can install the game...it really is like you're renting it.
Why should you, after paying hard-earned money for Red Alert 3, have to call EA Customer Service if you end up needing to reinstall the game one time too many?
Neither SecuROM nor the install restrictions are going to bother people who want to download unlicensed, modified copies of Red Alert 3 that don't have commercial spyware or EA-imposed limitations present.
I would give Red Alert 3 five stars if it didn't come with SecuROM and the install restrictions.
Other reviewers here have been criticized for not actually reviewing the game... which is unfair, because SecuROM is a dealbreaker and people need to know that this garbage is silently included along with the game. If SecuROM isn't the focus of critical reviews, how will people know about it?
Nevertheless, I do want to say the game itself, sans the spyware, is excellent. Anyone who's played the beta will probably agree... great graphics, the units are as silly and cool as ever, the ability to build true naval bases is fantastic, and the built in cooperative playing mode looks like a lot of fun.
It's a shame that EA ruined Red Alert 3 with SecuROM. It really is. It's even worse that they are not listening to the gaming community after the Spore backlash.
If you care about the integrity of your computer do not buy and install Red Alert 3. This applies whether you run Windows or Mac as SecuROM will install itself to either operating system (Sony is quite proud that it developed a version of SecuROM for Apple's OS).
#2 Limited installs, requiring EA's servers to always exist if you ever want to reinstall or need new keys.
#3 Coop play is restricted to the internet through EA's servers, no LAN capability.
Avoid.

I think Secu-ROM has been beaten to death and dragged through the mud enough for this latest botched game from EA.If it wasn't bad enough that I was told I would be limited to 5 authorizations, the CD-KEY was invalid and I couldn't even install the game..
Honest reviews on Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - PC
October 2008 marks the return of the long-awaited next installment in the Red Alert series one of the best real time strategy games ever.Unfortunately, the series, which was originally developed by Westwood Studios, has been taken over by EA (Electronic Arts).
