MAKE NO MISTAKE..HOT HEAD IS ONE OF THE GIANT FIGURES WITHIN THE NEW "SKYLANDERS GIANTS" VERSION OF THE VIDEO GAME WHICH IS THE SEQUEL TO "SKYLANDERS SPYRO'S ADVENTURE". We have all of the current giant figures available and Hot Head is the coolest Giant currently available.

SUMMARY:

Hot Head is the Giant that belongs to the powerful fire element and is immediately a lot of fun to play with. The four available giants at this time are Crusher, Swarm, Tree Rex(comes with the game), and Bouncer. Hot Head begins with shooting a burst of flames out of his hands on his enemies. If you press and hold this attack the flames shoot longer, but slow him down a little more too. Eventually he can shoot oil blobs on his opponents and set them on fire (this combo inflicts a lot of damage to your enemies). His last attack is a rain shower of fire falling from the sky which gives a broad range of damage. If you prefer to enhance his wide ranged attack pick "Oil Baron" for his fire shower. It's a weak attack in the beginning that becomes very powerful over a wide range if you choose this path. The other path turns him into a strong "Burninator" which increases the strength of his hands shooting fire and the oil blobs eventually turn into "oil blob monsters" that help attack his foes. Setting these "oily monsters" on fire will help increase their critical hit abilities. After acquiring his soul gem, he turns into a fire blazing motorcycle, which increases his speed and makes it harder for his enemies to attack him.

STRATEGY:

Hot Head and most of the Giants are relatively slow. They all begin with a speed of 20, except for Bouncer and Ninjini who begin with a speed of 60. Hot Head and Ninjini's starting strengths are their critical hit ability which starts at a level of 80, while the other Giants begin with a 40 or 50 in comparison. Hot Heads beginning weakness is his armor at a level 12 which is equal to Swarm. The other Giants begin at Level 24, 30, and 48 with their armor.

PLAYING NOTES:

When you play with two players the Giants can be a frustrating ally if you are a normal size figure because they are big enough to hide you completely, make it impossible to see what's going on in front of you and where you need to aim. They are unique in that they can perform "Feats of Strength" where they pick up boulders to throw at the enemies, push huge rocks aside to stack and they can pull islands on chains closer for access.

HOT HEAD'S beginning profile stats (actual game console play numbers, not what you'll see on their trading cards which applies to online game-play):

Max Health:430

Speed:20

Armor:12

Critical Hit:80

Elemental Power:25

FYI FOR GIFT BUYERS: There are two other Giants available now that function basically the same in the game but have different color schemes(or Skins). They are Granite Crusher, exclusive to Target and Legendary Bouncer that's exclusive to Toys R Us. If you want your child to be able to access all the levels of the game they will need a figure of each of the 8 elements: Fire, Water, Tech, Undead, Life, Earth, Air, and Magic. If they got the Starter Pack WITH THE PORTAL, they have Life, Air, and Undead already. If they got the other pack without the portal (The Portal Owner's Pack) they have the new Life Giant "Tree Rex" and probably a lot of the older figures that can still be played on this game. There are 8 new Giant figures, 8 totally new regular sized figures and 8 Light-Core Figures (of which 4 are totally new and 4 are re-poses that light up). There are 24 Series 2, or re-poses of the previous Spyro's Adventure figure's available in Giant's. I am sure most kids or kids at heart, would love to have any of those newer figures for a gift and the avid collector would be happy with any of the Skylander's Giants figures. This isn't an all inclusive list of all the variants, but you'll have an idea of what you're in for. The cost can add up. The good news is that there are plenty of ways to have replay value with these figures. Skylanders Giants' figures can be played online, there's a new App Version of the game called "Battlegrounds" that can be played on the iPad, iPod or iPhones, and on their gaming consoles too. But for the basics, they need only 8 figures or one of each element.

RETAIL COST FOR THE GIANTS: $14.99 ANYTHING HIGHER IS THIRD PARTY SELLER, NOT AMAZON!

LIGHT-CORE FIGURES:(different aspects light up from within each of the 8 figures) RETAIL FOR $11.99

REGULAR SIZE FIGURES RETAIL:$9.99

It happens every Christmas. The popular toys get snatched up by soulless leeches as soon as Amazon gets them in stock. Then these toys are immediately re-listed on Amazon Marketplace for 3 or even 4 times retail. It's ridiculous that a parent has to decide between disappointing their kids on Christmas morning or spending forty bucks on a toy that retails for fifteen. Amazon should limit the amount above retail that an item can be listed on their site!

As for the product itself, I got lucky. I got it for retail cost and it is what my little girl wanted. I can't wait to play Skylanders with her and I'll do a more in depth review after Christmas!

Another Giant, another way to BLAST through the baddies in Skylanders GIANTS! Hot Head is similar to the other giants in that he is slow, extremely powerful and can take a beating like no normal Skylander can. As his name implies, he is a fire element Skylander and dishes out devastating attacks on those unfortunate enough to get in his path. I prefer to pair him with an Air Sklylander like Lightening Rod on 3DS for the increased jumping ability. I personally prefer Crusher overall out of the Giants available for additional purchase. He seems to be the most dominant overall character.

Plugs in via the USB port just like any other, but instead it plugs into the battery itself so you can take out the battery from the controller and charge just the battery. I like it and found it to be a better replacement than an OEM.

I have played about 3+ hours of this game, and I have to honestly say that it feels a bit unfinished.

The (third-person) controls are a bit clunky, as is the cover system (which is a bit hit and miss). The graphics are OK. This is not Mass Effect 2, but it is not the worst game ever to come out the gate, either. The graphics are average at best. As much as the developer had tried to avoid it, this game has a movie tie-in game feel to it.

The story is good, the voice acting decent, but the mechanics just don't feel right. It reminds me of the Iron Man movie tie-in games to this point. There is fun to be had, and I am definitely a Star Trek fan, but it just isn't terribly gratifying.

A lot of times, it is a bit confusing as to what it is that you need to be doing. I am playing a single-player campaign, and the AI hasn't been so great. maybe that is part of the problem? I am playing as Kirk, and sometimes Spock is near me but invisible, other times he's kneeling but floating in mid air, and sometimes he just runs toward the enemy taking fire out in the open. The enemies aren't so bright, and your phaser takes a few shots to put some enemies down. On stun, although the game doesn't explain it very well, you stun your opponent and it dazes them, then you have to run up to them before their stun wears off, and perform a melee combat move to put them down. When your phaser is set to "kill" it often takes several shots to put an opponent down. And, your weapon can overheat, so you fire off a shot or two, and then your opponent closes on you quickly, and you are scrambling a bit until your weapon cools down. And your opponents move MUCH faster than you do.

When your enemies take cover, they move extremely fast, get into cover, and never, ever come back out. You have to go into their cover after them, and they are more powerful than you. So if your weapon overheats, look out........

Not much is explained as for space battles (using the Enterprise), either. I keep getting blown up over and over and still am not sure what it is that I should be doing....and, for note, I'm a fairly seasoned (casual) gamer (completed the Uncharted games, Mass Effect Trilogy, Arkham games, etc.). I just can't seem to put together exactly what it is that I'm supposed to be doing.

It just doesn't feel like the game is fully developed. I'll keep it and do my best to complete it, as I am a Star Trek fan, but in truth, it just isn't living up to my expectations to this point. I'm just getting kind of a clunky, unfinished feel from this one. It was in development for quite a while, but it's just missing the mark.

It's playable for a Trek fan, but I'd wait until it hits the $ 20 range (which shouldn't be too long). I was expecting a mediocre to decent game, and I'd say, to this point in my experience, it's barely meeting my minimum expectation.

I'm normally leery of games that haven't been reviewed by the release date, and to my knowledge there was no online demo. I have read a few sources saying that the review copy of the game "got out late", and they didn't have it in time to review it. That leads me to believe that they knew it just wasn't quite finished, and they wanted to capitalize on beating the movie out of the gate.

I wasn't expecting the world, but am a little let down. There is still fun to be had, but it just isn't as well developed as the marketing suggested. It definitely needed a bit more development and polish.

I know that it can be unfair to review a game that one hasn't finished, but I'm a good way in, and I have a pretty good feel for it at this point. It may be worth holding off a bit and, if this is a game that you as a Star trek fan want to own and play, buy it at a lower price point than $ 60.

UPDATE:

I finally completed this game yesterday (took me about 15 hours or so), and there is a lot of attention and polish that the developer should add through "Patches". Overall, I don't feel like the game lived up to what the developer had promised~especially a game that has been in production as long as this game has.

The graphics were OK, better in some spots than in others. Not the best that the current-gen systems have seen, but not the worst, either. In truth, for me, if a game has a great story and great gameplay, the graphics generally aren't a hangup for me.

The story, I thought, was excellent. Very well written, and it felt like a Star Trek-worthy story. The voice acting was good. Simon Pegg (providing Mr. Scott's voice) was probably the highlight as far as the voice acting goes, and a great comic relief.

The AI was really bad. Especially the enemy AI. In some cases, some of the larger more formidable foes would just stand in one place (as if stuck in a glitch) and I would ultimately defeat them with almost no resistance. The enemy AI and the glitches surrounding the enemy behavior was definitely underdeveloped.

My (computer controlled) partner (Spock) was often a hindrance to completing tasks. Sometimes he just took off on his own (into the open taking enemy fire), and other times he just wouldn't follow me as he was supposed to. Several times I had to backtrack just to find him.

My character kept walking around screaming "Thanks for the shield boost!" to Spock, even when we weren't engaging (or even near any) enemy. That got old. Also, I found that sometimes when I would be walking or running forward, when I would release the gamepad stick, my character would keep walking/drifting forward on his own. I often had to mess with the gamepad to get him to stop.

There were three different hacking sequences used during the game, none of which (in my opinion) are really ever explained-you just have to figure them out on your own (more or less). The first is matching up pairs of matching sequences in a given time frame, which was easy enough. The second was, I'm not sure how to describe it, grid navigation mini-game (similar to how the characters rode their light bikes, or whatever those were called in Tron). That was a bit more challenging, mainly due to poor control, and became frustrating at points. The third was both characters working together to match frequencies. It worked OK, but with two players, I can see this one being tough to complete.

To the game's credit, there were a lot of really cool levels with some really neat gameplay ideas. Some were more fleshed out than others. One of the real detractors with this game is that it never really offers much in the line of explanation as to how to complete your tasks. It just leaves you to figure it out on your own. I don't know if this was by gameplay design choice, or an oversight.

At the end of the day, you play through 15, or so, hours of co op aimed gameplay and it all culminates into your facing off with a less than impressive final enemy (or "Boss").

As a Star Trek story, it succeeds. As a co op game, there is some fun to be had there. For a Star Trek fan, if they can look past the game's (sometimes glaring) flaws, there is some fun to be had there. For a gamer with high expectations in respect to overall gameplay, polish and presentation~this one will disappoint you.

Some of the mainstream reviews of this game have been pretty brutal. I feel that a "3-Star (out of 5)" or "6 out of 10" rating isn't completely unfair for this game.

It's buggy, undercooked in some areas, and nothing about it is cutting edge, but I still had a good time with it (on a solo playthrough), and I would like to play the game through on co op as well. If the developer updates this game through "patching", I think that it would be a much better and more playable game overall.

This is a game that is definitely going to be a better experience played as a co op game rather than as a single-player game. As things stand today (and in my opinion), this is a mediocre $ 60 game, a decent-to-better than average $ 30 game, and a better than average-to-good $ 20 game.

After watching the developers talk about the game, I wanted to buy it. I saw the passion of how they spoke of the game. The wife decided to rent it first. Good call. The animation is choppy. The graphics were never finished. The enemies are either invincible or stupidly easy. Battles are never explained, nor navigation clear.

The Opening sequence is annoyingly confusing. You start out in some battle, take a couple of shots. Then there is a cut scene where Spock and Kirk are about to kill each other. Then, just before the first blow, the game starts with a pleasant conversation over chess.

The game uses battle modes similar to Gears of war, with storytelling comparable to Mass effect and Army of Two combined. It looks like the game would have been pretty good, but it seems to be pushed too soon. Characters glitch often. Enemies often shoot and walk through walls and doors. You can play as either Kirk or Spock. I chose Spock, but it's like they forgot to write those lines, so it feels like I was still playing as Kirk. Check points are at random, almost evil places that don't seem to make any sense other than to annoy you. Even the Achievements are grabbed from predictable game play and are poorly named.

I would still play it through, but I got to a point that was just too buggy. It was written to have a strategy, but all the glitches ruin it. When going in mini-games (which aren't bad), the game does not stop, so you are often left venerable.

There are four things that make this game playable and they are great:

Original score written by the same composer who wrote for Into Darkness

The characters look like who they are trying to be, even if not smoothed out not up to par for 2013 or even 2008, but like-ness is there.

The script is wonderful. Aside from the opening, it kept my interest

The Best and what is worth any amount of money to pay for this game is the entire movie cast has recorded dialog for this game. This is not something that is done often, and in this game it is perfect.

This game wants to be a 7 or low 8, but because of its poor execution and streamlined release, I can't give it more than a 4. I gave Via Domus a 5.

Buy it in a discount bin or pawn shop in six months. I you forget to, don't worry, you're not missing much.

I have been very expectant of this game's release for some time. My wife and I are both big gamers (I have 70k xbox points and she is 20k+) and also big Star Trek fans. So far we have put in about 4 hours play together.

On the whole this is a great game but needs a bit more polishing (something updates may correct) in a few regards. First and foremost is the very awkward sign-in for the splitscreen multi. The issue is that you have the option at the "New Game" screen to play as either Kirk or Spock, and at the bottom is the option for player 2 to sign in by pressing start. However, once you start playing the second player cannot join, at all (or so it seems). There is no way for a second player to sign in when the game is running. So my wife and I pop this game in, we go through the new game screen and we both login, and we play about 2 hours. So far so good. We stop to eat dinner and when we come back I click continue, and it starts with only me... there's no way to log her in as player two... Well, I figure maybe she needs a separate save file... nope. Well... we look it up online, nothing... We try "inviting" her to my game, but it says she can't join a local session... We even find some threads online that say that this game doesn't support split screen... What the %#$^? But we just played it splitscreen for two hours?! Feeling as though we were in a Twilight Zone episode, I finally figured out that the only way to continue a game via splitscreen is to go to the Chapter select, then when you get the character selection screen then the second player can log in. There is a vague reference to this in the manual which is only online, but it isn't very explicit about the process. Hopefully the game desginers will figure this issue out so that the second player can login and continue a saved game without having to restart checkpoints, or at least make the process more streamlined.

Anyway, I wanted to get the word out that the split screen does function, but you have to go to it through chapter select.

The other big complaint is that the tutorials are really lacking. There are some great tech minigames for unlocking stuff and hacking and whatnot, but they are rather involved and the minimal direction, if at all, given by the tutorials does not in any way prepare you for completing the action. Instead, I have had to use trial and error to figure out what exactly we are supposed to be doing, sometimes it comes quick but some of the actions were rather tough to figure out what was expected. Once we figured it out it worked fine, but that first time can really be annoying which a more adequate tutorial would fix.

As to the game itself, so far we have really enjoyed it. There is a lot of investigating with tricorders which is a nice change of pace and fits the scientific character of the series nicely. The combat so far has been extraordinarily smooth, and while the graphics for the people can seem a bit stiff and blocky, the environments are great and really draw you in. We haven't gotten far enough for substantive remarks about the plot, but getting to fight the Gorn is pretty excellent by itself. It's also nice that this is an intermediary plotline taking place between the movies thereby not simply rehashing either plot line which is the downfall of many movie based games.

On the whole, this game needs some spit and polish to really make it shine, but hopefully continued development through updates will help to make the game more streamlined and less buggy. After we have completed the game I will return to update further but for now I highly recommend this game to anyone that thinks shooting Gorn with phasers as Kirk and Spock is just plain awesome. Finally an awesome Star Trek game. Finally.

>>UPDATE JULY 2013

So my wife and I beat Trek a while back, I just haven't gotten back to update this. Here's some final thoughts having played through the whole game beyond the reinforced NEED for a good update to correct the little glitches and add some explanations to a few points.

On the whole, this is still a very satisfying game. My criticisms are primarily against the non-normal portions of the game. I still feel the combat portions of the game were fully satisfying and apart from wandering around a few times between fights it was never so confusing so as to need "walkthrough" support to navigate.

The non-normal portions of the game are generally rather obtrusive and even obnoxious. There are three principle non-normal modes of play:

1. Space suit flight: Of the three, this is the best non-normal mode. Essentially you are shot like a bullet through a variety of zero-G vacuum settings, dodging debris and whatnot. On the whole pretty satisfying and makes you feel like you are in the movies. However, these scenes start sometimes unexpectedly and can be annoying to get through at times, particularly if you are at all clumsy as a player because the movements expected of you can be overly precise at times. Still, with a few re-dos all these scenes were doable without much hair pulling.

2. Space combat: More obnoxious than the zero-G flight mode, you also get to take over the gunnery systems of the Enterprise and engage is ship-to-ship combat. Awesome! Right? Ehh... The graphics and sounds are great, very bright and stunning, but the actual controls are very, very simplistic and there are a lot of moments when you are sitting there just holding down your phasers wondering if you are damaging the ship you are shooting at. Perhaps more annoying and certain to annoy Trekkies is the fact that you have to LOWER YOUR SHIELD TO FIRE, or, more precisely, between holding down your phasers you have to engage your shields to try and deflect incoming fire. The total package effect was devastating and I was shocked that they could take something so incredible looking and with so much potential and make it so tedious. My wife and I were so glad when we got through the principle battle and we could get back to the regular run and gun mode. Terrible. This mode REALLY needed more work and thought as it could have been great but in the end was one of the lowest points in the game.

3. Mind Meld: I do not think a game since the days of 8-bit consoles has made a mode of play so very, very boring. The mind meld is the most ridiculous part of the game and is really laughable. Essentially when you meld it is just an extended cut scene, not that big of deal, that's what I expected. But no, to navigate between cut scenes you get stuck in a weird blurry New Age looking tunnel and have to steer toward the light. No you aren't having a Near Death Experience. Yes you are playing the Star Trek video game and wondering what the ^&*% the designers were thinking. Really? Come on... Really? It feels like they ran out of mini-games and said hey, let's make them steer toward the memories in a long... tunnel... yeah. Seriously?

On the whole, the game lets you feel like you were playing through a Trek movie. There are some memorable fights and the voice acting, which had the entire cast, was great throughout. Having had some time to reflect on the game, I think one of the reasons why players have reacted so poorly to it is that we can sense that this game had real potential. The game mechanics and everything are good enough that if this thing were really put together well it could have been epic. Is the final product that we are playing now epic? Not by a long shot. Is it a really fun Star Trek shooter that gets you into the films? Yes it is. Just ignore all the silly and obtrusive parts and there is a very enjoyable experience here for Trekkie gamers and fans of the films.

Final Score: 3.5 rounded to 4 because... well... it's Trek.

Honest reviews on Star Trek - Xbox 360

First off, like many reviewers here I have not finished the story. The gameplay makes finishing the game a challenge to say the least. The developers really screwed up with this game. They alienated the Star Trek fans by making an action Co-op game and then turned around and alienated all Action game fans by making this a Star Trek game. IF this was simply a generic Sci-Fi co-op action game it would have sold much better. (Granted nothing can help sell games when the core gameplay is so flawed) Star Trek fans want a real star trek game that emphasizes exploration, starship management and crew management. We get none of that with this title. Action game fans want tight controls, a great story and most importantly great gameplay. We got none of that either. Honestly this game should have been scrapped in development. Everything about this game is wrong. Making a Star Trek game where you can only play 2 characters is asinine. No Star Trek movie or TV show has ever revolved around 2 characters only. Huge mistake. Second setting the game in the new timeline could have made for amazing stories... instead we get a story about the Gorn... Everything "Star Trek" about this game is an insult to the franchise. From an action gamer point of view this game fails to deliver on nearly every level. The "Clunky" controls can only be ignored for so long. After going through Mass Effect inspired levels I found myself bored more often than not. The collectables are so limited I find myself running most of the levels with my tricorder on. I can't complain about the graphics because I spent 90% of time running around with my tricorder on making all the graphics blue. It was such an awkward way to play, you can't even enjoy the levels because you have to use the tricorded all the time if you want to collect everything. Often times, I would still miss objects because I didn't notice the little patch of orange on the ground after running through blue levels the past 30 minutes. In essence the tricorder that some reviewers are praising as the best part of the game, was the worst part of the game for me. Its like the investigator view in Batman games except in the batman games you can see the items even without the view, in this game everything looks the exact same. 1 terminal might have something to check out with the tricorder while an identical terminal 5 feet away might be as pointless as the game itself. Essentially you are forced to run the levels with the tricorder always on if you want to find any experience points.

The only saving grace in this game is the multiplayer. I played through the first half of the game with a Trek friend. It was fun to play split screen like the good old PS2 days but honestly it wasn't as fun as Gear of War or even Dead Space 3 (FYI dead space 3 has no split screen both people have to own the game). Overall I'm disappointed I ended up buying this game. I wanted to support the developer and the Star Trek name but really shouldn't have wasted the money. Nothing is going to save this game from being another joke in a long line of hideous Star Trek games. Why in 2013 we still don't have a single real Star Trek game is beyond me. Since PC's bridge Commander there hasn't been a single Star Trek game worth owning. Its sad but developers with ideas like this keep getting the go ahead. Guess we now start another 6 -10 year wait for another Star Trek title to be released that hopefully isn't as bad as this.

This could have been a great game, but it's buggy and unfinished. Feels like a smash and grab to get it out before the movie, so they could make loads of cash off the fans. What a waste. And by the way, if you're playing with a friend, don't try and save a game and come back to it, because you can't. They forgot to add in the two player mode in the continue game section. Utter crap. Wait until it hits the discount bins, or you'll feel ripped off. Like I do.

The game was a knock off version of Mario party. There are only 5 boards to choose from and once you unlock them there's nothing to do. You have no choice but to play against computer players who are all difficult to beat. The mini games in this game are either hard to beat or make no sense. Don't recommend.

You spend half your time waiting to play a game while the computer players play. The actual games you play are almost decent but you spend such little time actually playing them its not worth it. We played the game for about an hour, of that hour, we probably actually played games for about 10 minutes. The rest of the time was waiting for loading, watching the computers players play ( thats fun) and time spent on the game board rolling the dice. Do not buy. thankfully it just coat us a $1 at RedBox

In "G.H.O.S.T. Hunters: the Haunting of Majesty Manor", your job is to figure out who, or what, is haunting the manor by finding lists of items embedded in various rooms throughout the house.

I found this game to be very similar to the "Mystery Case Files" series as both are of the same "search & find" genre and they are about equal in terms of fun & difficulty level.

One neat addition to "Ghost Hunters" is the spectrometer. This tool becomes activated when you ask for a hint, allowing you to scan the room looking for "psychic energy" which will eventually lead you to one of the hidden items on the list.

Overall, I found this game to be really fun & addictive, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys "search & find" type games.

I purchased this for my wife and 5 year old son to play as I play real time strategy games on the PC. Well my wife asked me to sit and help the other night and im HOOKED.

This game was lots of fun and we had a blast trying to find the hidden pictures as a team. The spooky music and playing it at night with the lights off made it that much more fun.

I purchased 2 others from the maker as this was a blast and really keeps you on your toes....

At the end of those 15 days, you will uncover the culprit in a final, fast paced round.

While "G.H.O.S.T. Hunters, the Haunting of Majesty Manor" is loosely wrapped around a mystery, players are not really actively involved in solving the mystery they do not question suspects, find clues, or play any part in really solving the mystery the game itself does all that for you. What players do is look for hidden objects in various locations. The hidden objects can be obvious for example if you are looking for a tie, look for a man wearing a tie. Other items are a bit more difficult to find for example a bat could be either a baseball bat or the mammal.

"G.H.O.S.T. Hunters, the Haunting of Majesty Manor" is a good game for players new to hidden object games. Unlike some hidden object games, there is more than enough time to solve each puzzle. There are also plenty of hints and a chance to get even more hints by locating batteries hidden in certain scenes. You do lose time if you click too fast or too randomly on objects, but there's no need to do either since there's so much time allowed. Once you find all the required objets you can either move on or stay for the "bonus" round which simply means find the remaining objects in each location (you have to find a set number of objects in each room to move to the next level). Unlike other hidden object games (such as the Mystery Case Files Series) there are no real bonus sections involving puzzles like jigsaw puzzles once you finish one level you move on to the next level. Even though you only have five minutes to solve each puzzle in the final round (which eliminates suspect after suspect), I found it incredibly easy to solve. Finally, while I usually find music in hidden object games add a lot of atmosphere to the game, the music in this game kept cutting in and out, disappearing completely for large stretches of the game, which means the majority of the game was played in silence (even the meter used for hints didn't always have sound, which made it hard to use the hints).

While "G.H.O.S.T. Hunters, the Haunting of Majesty Manor" can be played over and over because the hidden objects and guilty party change each time you play it, seasoned hidden object game players will quickly get tired of the game. However, this is an excellent game for players new to hidden object games.

"G.H.O.S.T Hunters" is 100% a hidden object game--no minigames, no puzzles, NOTHING else. If you like hidden object fun, this is for you! The pictures are stuffed full, yet the hidden objects aren't too small (at least, not to me). An unusual aspect of the game is the use of a "spectrometer" to give hints; when activated, the tool shows more lights and faster clicking the closer you are to a hidden object.

Because of the visual aspect of the spectrometer, this game is highly suitable for playing by the hearing impaired or with speakers off. I found myself turning the sound up when I caught the whispery voices, although I never could figure out what they were saying. LOL. In that case, I wished for captions too, although it's entirely possible that they weren't saying anything, and, certainly, they weren't saying anything noteworthy for the game. As far as I know, the soundtrack was just spooky sounds, footsteps, etc.

If you don't like HOGs (hidden object games), don't bother, but if you do, especially if you like them pure, this is a can't miss!!

I enjoy the game but the developers could have done much better. I'm a fan of the older motogp and sbk racing games like MotoGP 2008. Altough there are similarities, the handling is much different. I disagree with a lot of the handling characteristics and what the programmers believe is the best racing line on the track.

Racing online can be kind of a joke, but sometimes fun. The main problem with games like these is that the developers and programmers need to set the game up so that people can't cheat, or find alternative routes through grass or wherever. Most people online (which is mainly people in Europe and Asia) don't know how to race, or don't race properly. They will try to run you off the track or run into you from behind forcing you off the track.

The campaign is fun, practices and qualifying. They could go more in depth with the storyline and campaign though.

I love it when a game with very little hype or fanfare is released, and turns out to be one of the best titles of the season. This is such a game.

Not a logistical nightmare flight sim like some PC games, this one is a straight up arcade experience with wonderful graphics, total control, and the best sensation of flying this side of Pilotwings. So many flight games for the PSX were just tracked driving/shooting games in the air. Air Combat had such a close camera angle and sluggish handling that it felt more like wrangling a Buick in the sky than flying. This one lets you control all directions of movement like a true barnstormer. Diving, ascending, barrel rolls, bank turns, stalls, they're all here, and it really makes the game a pleasure because the impetus is all on you to complete the mission. Don't blame the game because there is very little you can't control when it comes to the aerobatics of your plane.

And you will need that control because, while some missions are easy, most will need to be done and re-done to successfully complete them. But it isn't a frustrating task. Sky Odyssey is one of those games (reminiscent of old 8-bit Nintendo titles) where, once you wreck, you wanna hurry up and try again, because you know it can be done.

Plenty of different modes and planes keep it interesting, as do the different objectives of each Adventure mission. Land on an aircraft carrier (hella fun,) pursue a train so you can link up and refuel mid-flight (through a tunnel, no less!), and maneuver in a canyon with huge rockslides occurring around every corner. The best word I can use to describe the experience is "fun." And that's what's so great about this game: no big-name sports stars (Madden), no past video game series to fall back on (Ridge Racer, Tekken), no million-dollar hype campaign (Final Fantasy), just rock solid gameplay.

Flying games don't get any better than this.

This is a great flight simulation game. I was a little worriedthat it might [not be good] .... However, this game has many options like mission, sky writing, target, and free flight modes. Target mode is my favorite because you need to hit red or blue targets in sequence and then land your plane in the given time frame or start over. I have had to land the aircraft with only seconds to spare so focus and flight skills are required. Carrier landings and mid-air re-fueling also make this game exciting! Build your skills and acquire more modern aircraft like the stealth bomber! If you like flight sim games this game is for you. I have rented and played most of the PS2 launch titles and Sky Odessey is one of the better titles out right now.

This is the kind of flight simulator I have been looking for! If I wanted all the knobs, buttons and gizmos true flight simulators have, I'd just get my pilot's license. This is just a fun and simple game. No fuss or messy keystrokes to remember. You can just throw the CD in and begin flying with easy to use controls and gorgeous graphics.

I was also surprised at this game's long playability. There are so many levels and missions, that this game will have long lasting appeal. Also, I must admit I found myself drawn to the sky-writing exercises. I know how lame that might sound, but blowing smoke out the back of your plane while trying to make shapes and words was oddly addictive. I don't remember ever seeing that in other flight simulators.

So, if you are real pilot, I am sure this game will disappoint. However, if you just want to fly around with ease while having a great time, this game is sure to please.

Honest reviews on Sky Odyssey

I have to admit, I didn't expect this game to be this good. Although the graphics are pretty decent (certainly not the best by far for the PS2), the aspect where the game excels the most is where a game SHOULD excel at: gameplay. This baby has got soume seriously GREAT gameplay. Some might find flight simulation games to be too technical, while some find arcade style flying games to be too unrealistic or cartoon-like. I think that this game is a perfect blend between the two. There are plenty of game modes to keep you coming back for more, and the game is structured in such a way that it's not too easy and not too hard. On levels that seem to be difficult to pass, you'll find yourself actually wanting to come back for more instead of throwing your controller down in frustration. The gameplay is that good. I actually find myself rocking back and forth in my chair while playing the darn thing becuase it immerses you so well into the game! I never thought I'd say this, but I'm being quite honest: this game is among the top 4 or 5 games overall that is available for the PS2 right now.

I'll admit I had many doubts at first when I went to buy this game, but I had heard some good things about it so I decided I would give it a try. Well, my doubts went out the window after just an hour with this masterpiece of a game by Activision. Sky Odyssey is a flight simulation game just like Pilotwings 64 but done much better. It gives you many modes of play at first, such as target practice and landing pads. But the true fun and challenge is in the adventure mode. You are taken to a series of islands and told to complete certain missions like refuel your plane in midair or fly quickly through a small cave while avoiding falling rocks and wavy waters. Before each mission you are given a specific tutorial so you know exactly what to do and how to do it. But believe me, even with the tutorials these missions are very challenging and quite hard to complete under your given time limit. If you should finish your mission, you are then given a grade and depending what grade you get, you then get to choose one of many upgrades for your plane which will help you later on. It is really quite a innovative and cool system. And dont worry about replay value because there are plenty of missions the game has to offer.

The different planes in this game are each very unique and neatly designed. As mentioned before they are all upgradable in areas such as their wing, engine, propeller, landing gear and more. And for you aspiring artists out there, the game even has a drawing program where you can draw your own symbol on the back of your plane!!

The target practice and landing pad parts of the game should be used by beginners as they are good places to practice all of the flying skills with all of the planes. The control of these planes takes some getting used to and is best when you have an analog playstation controller. Once mastered, you wont be able to wait for your next chance to become a virtual pilot.

My only problem with this game is the graphics. The weather effects are excellent and utilize the PS2's power very well, but on the training lessons and some parts of the main gameplay the graphics can get pretty bland and boring. A touch could've been made here and there to better enhance the whole flying experience. This is the only reason I didn't give the game a perfect score. But as long as a game has solid gameplay it usually hardly detracts from the whole experience.

All in all I'd have to say this is one of the most original, challenging, and fun games I've played in a long time. If you have some extra cash and are lucky enough to own a Playstation 2, I would highly recommend this game. Unless you really don't like flight simulators, there is something in here for everyone. Definately one of the top games for PS2 this year.

Review of The Sims 3 Collector's Edition - PC

The Sims 3 Collector's Edition - PC

I've played all the Sims games from the original to this one and pretty much all of the expansions and stuff packs. I have to say the changes in this version are well worth the purchase...though there are caveats. One thing to note: this is the first game released as part of EA's backstepping away from DRM. Just the CD key and the CD...no DRM required. Nice timing.

I'll split this review into two pieces and won't go into crazy depth as those depths are covered elsewhere anyway. If you've played the previous Sims games, skip the next section. Otherwise, newbies, read on.

------------------------------------------

New to the Sims Universe?

If you're new to the Sims Universe, the simple version is that you should just start here with Sims 3. A lot of the "updates" that were incorporated into this version are long needed and really enhance gameplay. The biggest problem we used to have was loading screens...constant loading screens. Those are gone so now the game is a lot more immersive.

You create and take control of a Sim which you can define with a number of traits and of course design from the ground up to look however you want. It's very RPG in the end but open-ended as you can follow any career or life path you want. Feel like creating an Evil slacker that mooches off the neighborhood? Go for it. Want to be the leader of the free world? By all means.

With a combination of skills you can learn/improve on (Cooking, Fishing, Logic, Charisma, and others), you gradually open up choices and opportunities. Speaking of which, as you progress through your sim life, you'll get opportunities which are essentially missions to undertake with rewards of money and other things tangible or intangible. These combined with random events (like grill-offs, or chess tournaments) are designed to get you out there interacting with other sims and advancing your sim. In the end, what happens is all up to you.

Your sims can eventually die (though you can turn this off) so you'll likely want to look at starting a family and progressing your family tree. This essentially means, the death of one character isn't the end of the game.

Now, this isn't a traditional RPG so you have to keep in mind that there are moments of boredom where you wait for something to happen (really that's only when your sim is at work). You can speed up time but for things like work, you're sitting around for a couple minutes waiting. Not terrible but it can become a drag at times. This combined with the needs for your sim (hunger, energy, etc.) which without help from lifetime rewards (rewards paid for with points you accumulate living your life) can sometimes leave you in a time management crunch. It's one of those things that you learn to deal with as you play but it can become tiresome after a while. Consider yourself warned.

There's also a huge community of people tossing up items, sims, and the like on the Sims Exchange online. EA's also got a store where you can buy more items, sims, lots, etc. for a price. The average item will cost you anywhere from 25-100 sim points. The exchange rate is $1 = 100 sim points. You can buy more points on the site. Just keep in mind that the bread and butter of this franchise is expansion packs and stuff packs which add features and content to the game every 6-9 months. You can either stash cash for these packs or just microtrans your way into a new car or new set of furniture that your sims can eventually buy.

All in all, though, the game is fun. There are interesting interactions and sometimes surprises. You have a lot of freedom which is great but if you're the type that really needs goals, unless you put your sim through the career paths offered in the game, you might find yourself bored with nothing to do. Yes, it's a bit like playing with a dollhouse but I look at it more like an open-ended RPG where you've got to kick your imagination into gear and have some fun playing around with your sim.

Take a look at the Sims 3 site () and watch some of the videos. If you like what you see, you'll probably have fun with this game. If you're a hard-core gamer, you're probably already steering clear of this game so you're good to go. :)

For newbies, I definitely don't recommend the Collector's Edition. Unless you really want that USB flash drive or the $10 of sim points (= 1000 sim points), it's not really worth the extra $20. The prima guide thing is ridiculously short and is more of a teaser to buy their full guide at 25% off. Ignore.

------------------------------------------

Sim Veterans, stop here!

What can I say? No more of those damned loading screens! You start up (which is a bit faster than the Sims 2) and load a saved game (no more lot saves) which takes a lot less time to load than lot loads in Sims2.

Once you're in, you've basically got a big map of a town that you're looking at top-down. You can zoom in to the house level but have to switch to sim mode in order to see inside. Kind of stupid...should've been one continuous movement but this is what you get.

At the map level, you get SimCity (3000) style bubbles attached to landmarks that you can click to show the bubble menu (like when you click on a sim) and select actions related to those places. Once you get the hang of it (which doesn't take long) it's really nice not having to go through all the hassles of picking a lot to go to and waiting for loads. It's such a big deal, I can't tell you. One thing they also did was move some of the functions you might have done at home (like ordering groceries) into the logic place for those functions (grocery store).

The UI is still familiar because most things are in their original places but a lot of things have also changed. No more aspiration points or influence. Now, you've got lifetime wishes (essentially your lifetime aspiration) and one off wishes which are sort of like selectable wants. So, instead of the Vegas-style slots where you just got random wants you could achieve, now there's a box with the Sim's wishes that pop-up for a short time. You can add up to four wishes to the Sim's wish list and try to fulfill them for lifetime happiness points. These points are sort of like an amalgam of achievement points, lifetime reward points and whoknowswhat. These points are generated from wish fulfillment but also by just being in a good mood. They buy enhancements or one-off benefits for your sim like Steel Bladder (which eliminates decay on your Bladder meter). Interesting idea but we'll see if it works in the long run.

The other big thing is the traits system. Instead of the five traits (Shy vs Outgoing, etc.), there are a lot more individual traits of which your sim can have up to five. These can be positive or negative traits. If you grow a sim from a baby, the traits are randomly picked (though slanted based on the mother's traits). If you create a sim from scratch, you get to pick them. The traits work a lot like those Sims 2 traits in that they affect the way the Sim responds to events, other people, etc. and also infer bonuses. For instance, you can add the Bookworm trait to make it easier for you to learn from books. They're pretty interesting and definitely add to the color of the game.

What else? 45 degree angles on furniture placement, free movement to anywhere in town without a loading screen, new interactions--some of them based on your skills--and the ability to upgrade some furniture items. There is a lot to see and discover. There are a lot of good enhancements. When you're on the job, you can change your actions so you can slack off or work harder.

What's missing? Vacation homes, pets, apartments, loading screens, etc.

What's wrong? Here's a dumb idea...let's take the interaction to Call someone off your Sim and put it on the landline only. Or you can click into your inventory and select the phone and then finally call out where there isn't a phone handy.

The main problem: we're starting over again. You know we're going to start seeing expansion packs and stuff packs or something like that by Christmas. Sure there are somethings (like hobbies) which are largely included and there are a lot of little things to do as you explore careers and locations and start building your own towns. It still sucks that you can't have pets, can't do the apartment thing, and can't do vacation homes/trips. It always feels like we're getting used again.

Still, all the new changes (and it runs pretty smoothly despite those changes) definitely help take the bite out of that snub. I still can't tell you how great it is not to deal with lot management any more. When you head to work or head off to the neighbor's that first time and follow your sim around, it's beautiful.

What can I say? You have to buy it. I kept my Sims 2 install in place just in case but I seriously doubt I'll head back there any time soon. Give it a little time and I'm sure they'll put out an expansion to rectify some of those missing activities. Then it'll be time to uninstall the old and let all those packs collect dust.

What about the Collector's Edition? It's the same as the newbies. Unless you really want that USB key, it's not really worth the extra $20. The guide is anemic, the sports car is interesting but you'll be able to find something else on the Exchange eventually, and you can just buy $10 of sim points online. If you can find it discounted to the price of the regular game ($49) then it's probably worth the pick up but by then you'd have missed out on a lot of gaming fun.

UPDATE: A few people complained about bugs (babysitter running off with kids, storytelling toggle not working, etc.). EA just released an update for the game, 1.2.7. Fire up the game to download it. Release notes are here:

I have been playing the Sims since the first incarnation, and purchased every single expansion. When Sims 2 came out, jumped right on that, and was thrilled and blown away by the game right from the get-go. Also bought every expansion pack for that game, too. When I heard about Sims 3, I seriously rolled my eyes and swore I wouldn't jump on the band wagon and get sucked into buying the game at all, envisioning the multitudes of expansion packs that would surely follow. After seeing the many videos and advertisements for Sims 3, I was blown away by what was shown, and I pre-ordered the game shortly after, even paying for Release Date Delivery.

I should have stuck with my original intent of not getting the game. To say I am completely underwhelmed with this release would be an understatement. Let's start with the Sims 3 Collector's Edition pack. The extra $20 spent over the basic edition is hardly worth it. The "extras" listed are actually quite misleading in the wording, making it sound as if you get a lot more than you do. You have essentially spent $20 on a thumbdrive that is compleetly impractical to carry around with you. The sports car download has yet to actually work for me, although I have applied the code at least 4 times so far (that in itself is amazing, as usually any codes used are immediately void once used once). The $10 worth of Sims points is beyond ridiculous, because you will burn through that fairly quickly if you decide to get anything worthwhile. Everything on the Sims Store page is riduclously expensive, and it is quite obvious that EA has held back considerable content to trick players into blowing even more money. I, for one, will not be falling into THAT trap.

Now onto the meat of the matter. This game has been shipped out with a considerable number of bugs. If anyone has checked out and the foum over there, there are tons of people having any number of issues with installing and running the game. Granted, many of these issues may stem from players having computer systems that do not meet the minimum requirements listed. However, my system more than meets these requirements, and I had issues with my system even being able to recognize the game disc as being in the drive. After waiting 40 minutes on hold for a tech support person, I was pretty much told that they didn't know what was wrong, and asked me to attach a file from my computer in a reply to an email they sent. I was then asked to send the SAME file no less than three times, but no solutions were ever forthcoming. Thankfully, my roommate is a computer tech himself, and was able to move some stuff around in the computer itself to get the game to work. Please note, this is the ONLY game I have ever had to do this with. Yeah, it could have been my setup causing the issue, but it just seems odd to me that this is the only game this has ever happened with. Moving along...

So after fighting all night on release day, I finally get to check out the game the next day. The quality of the game itself is just utterly poor; in fact, for a game released in this day and age, it borders on embarassing. The opening video quality was just terrible. It's the same video that's been played on youtube.com for some time... and it looks JUST like it. The quality is grainy as hell, and is a poor representation of what this supposed leap forward in graphics has been hyped to be. The Sims themselves are disappointing to the extreme. The advertisments all claim that you can create millions of unique, REALISTIC Sims. The Sims Creator in Sims 2 blows the Sims 3 out of the water. Every Sim I made looks like a freaking Muppet, and it's not because I don't know how to use the editor. There are maybe 10-12 harstyles for the men, each one more hideous than the last one. I did like the ability to assign 5 key personality traits to the Sim, but that is hardly a ringing endorsement on an otherwise lackluster release.

I didn't really get a chance to play around with the house building tools, but have been seeing that unlike before, where you could place a lot and then start building a house, you now either have to build onto an existing house, or plop a lot, move a Sim in, then build with the Sims remaining money. Hardly a selling point to folks like myself who actually prefer the game just for building and decorating.

I will give a kudos for the ability to change the pattern and color on clothes, walls, floors, and objects. I think that does add a degree of flexability to the game. However, unlike in Sims 2, where you had one item in the list, and clicking that item showed you the other colors available, each time you recolor an object and save it, it's added as an additional item in the list (at leats, that's what I saw. I could be wrong). Seems like that would get confusing very quickly.

The Sims 3 could have been a great game, if it even came close to living up to the hype of EA's marketing. At this point, the game is easily outclassed by The Sims 2's base game release. Too much has been withheld from the Sims 3 base game to make it enjoyable, and I am somewhat dubious as to just how much improvement will be seen from the mulitudes of expansion packs to follow. I personally wish I had waited, or better yet, stuck with my original intent to avoid another Sims franchise.

Best Deals for The Sims 3 Collector's Edition - PC

With all the hype surrounding this game, I had high hopes for it as a Sims fan since the original. I should have learned my lesson from 'Simcity Societies' and 'Spore'. This game is mediocre at best and vastly inferior to its predecessor.

For one thing, there has been pretty much zero improvement in terms of graphics. The graphics are about the same as Sims 2, and where they differ, 2 usually looks better than 3. The sims in this game all look fat and deformed and there's nothing you can do about it with the primitive version of "Create A Sim" they included. The level of realism is a downgrade. Animations for sims getting into cars or getting bottles out of the fridge for babies are gone: instead they just magically appear. The interface is also clunky and counter-intuitive.

The game was released filled with bugs and, in some ways, just plain broken. Many people have problems with the game speed controls not functioning properly, and the Story Progression toggle, a major game feature, doesn't work at all. If you switch to play another family (which the game makes difficult to do to begin with), don't be surprised if your original family loses their inventory, spawns random babies (even single males), or moves out completely after all the work you put in with them.

As for the game play, the seamless neighborhood was a good idea, but executed poorly. You can't go into most of the buildings anyway. The fact that you can't see into something as simple as a one-floor diner suggests that this was a deliberate move by EA to ensure more expansion pack sales down the road. That and traits, the only other notable new feature, are okay, but seriously do not justify a brand new $70 game.

And lastly, the amount of content included is truly pitiful. Not surprising considering the launch of EA's new "Sims 3 Store" to rip people off. Looking for basic Sims items like a piano, diving board, or changing table? Not going to find it here. The game was deliberately crippled to sell more junk on their store.

That fact was made more apparent by the large amount of content already available on the "Sims 3 Store" on release day, content that would cost hundreds of dollars to buy altogetherhuh, we just paid $50-70 on a new game, content that was ready should have been included in the game in the first place! Not like there was a whole lot in the game to begin with that could somewhat justify this practice. To add insult to injury, prices are ridiculously high as well. $20 for one furniture set?

Also God forbid EA include previous expansion pack content so they would actually have to INNOVATE for new expansions. Instead we'll get the predictable Pets, Vacation, Nightlife, etc. lineup, dropping $30+ each to regain features we lost with the sequel.

And to the sycophantic EA defenders, drop all that "this is only the base game!" nonsense. After dropping $70 on a game, I shouldn't have to spend a single penny more to have a game that at least feels complete. Having major features broken, especially after the four-month release delay, is just lazy. The lack of polish and the bare-bones amount of content included is embarrassing for a costly AAA title. EA needs money, so it thinks it can squeeze its customers for all they're worth with dirty tricks. Well I'm not buying anymore.

I feel bad giving a Sim title 1 star, but I just can't fathom giving it any higher, at least until (and if!) EA addresses the issues. Major disappointment!

Honest reviews on The Sims 3 Collector's Edition - PC

The Sims 2 was a direct, undeniable sequel to the Sims that took everything from the base Sims game and added onto it. The Sims 3 feels much less like a direct sequel but an off-shoot of the series, more like a console version of the game but done right.

That said, considering the new gameplay experiences the game itself as a new incarnation of the Sims would be good but I can't help but feel there is much missing from the previous version.

For starters, you're buying a game with content withheld. You don't have a hot tub or even that many appealing hairstyles because EA decided to withhold these items from the game to coerce you to spend more money immediately after purchasing the game on their website. Additionally, you aren't only unnecessarily spending money for content that should've shipped with the game but you are forced to install the EA Download Manager which is how EA will infect your computer with their invasive Securom virus. While some may argue this unfair practice is A-okay, it's not, and as a consumer you should be appalled and find this absolutely unacceptable.

Secondly, the create-a-sim is extremely disappointing. Based on the ground game of S2 and S3 I found the customization tool in 2 to be far more advanced allowing greater customization. I'm sure in time as the community releases custom content we may have a greater degree of power in customizing our Sims to our likings but from the getgo I found the Sims 2 to be far superior. The only real improvement with 3 is the personalities and how we can tailor them.

Thirdly, the UI... I find the UI to be extremely tacky looking and I loathe the way the job requirements look (A smiley face, for reals?!!?). I can't help but feel EA has undermined the intelligence of those of us who play The Sims. When I first went into Buy mode I was taken aback by how the items are listed by "room" but fortunately you can switch to a category view, however, in Build mode you cannot... The listing of categories in Build mode is little pictures of the wall/fence/roof/etc... Very tacky and annoying and an insult to the intelligence of Sims players.

Less Realistic: Sims no longer visit the fridge to get a baby bottle, they magically swipe it from behind their back and diapers magically vanish in thin air... Rather upsetting at first but considering you can take your baby around town it makes sense (You don't want diapers all over the streets). However, you can call a repairman at any time and he'll be over within an hour. In previous Sims he'll be over the next day which is far more realistic. Children also can't call for repairs or even delivery anymore.

The graphics are far less realistic as well. I feel the Sims look very cartoony as does the entire town in comparison to the Sims 2. In 2 everything looked far more detailed and realistic where as in 3 it looks cartoony, dumbed down and far less realistic. Back to customizing your character, it's impossible to get a decently built male Sim without an oversize neck and it's impossible to get a female Sim with a proportionate bust-size without being obese, this was not the case in 2.

Overall I'm extremely disappointed in the game as I can't help but feel they took away too much. The only obvious improvement is the open town and the personalities but it certainly doesn't make up for what is missing. Also, the heinous practices of EA are unacceptable. Withholding content to charge consumers after paying a premium price (Would be okay if there was a price break in the game itself but at the regular price... No). Also, if you have to do reinstalls good luck trying to replace whatever you bought from EA's store, it's never as simple as claimed.

I would probably issue this game a 2 or 3 star rating but considering all the kool-aid drinkers that are just going to 5 star it blindly I'd prefer to even out the rating some. Nonetheless, the actions of EA easily warrant no stars or a call to boycott until it hits the sales bin.

It should also be known you can only have ONE active household in your town. You can switch to another home but it's almost like having to remove the battery from your cell phone just to switch memory cards, a hassle. You also lose wishes/promises when you switch so it's not at all as easy as it should be.

BUGS: I've experienced two freezes where I had to manually turn off my computer and one crash to desktop, all three incidents were pretty much isolated and not something I would say I fear from the game as I do believe they were attributed to a particular driver that when changed seemed to have resolved the problem.

There is an issue in sound, major issue. For one, 5.1 does not work, at least not for me. I get sound out of the three front speakers, mostly the middle, and that's it. Only when switching to stereo or using my speakers upmixing do I get "surround" which then sounds crappy. Also, an even greater issue, the music in Buy and Build mode sometimes does not play whatsoever which makes you feel very lonely and empty when building/decorating. An even greater issue is the sound cutting out when in Live mode. There are times when two Sims are talking and their voices just cut out and it takes some dramatic maneuvering of the camera to hear them again... It's extremely annoying.

I haven't encountered any game-breaking bugs and don't believe I will as I find myself pretty bored by this game already but what I did encounter is just annoying at best and hopefully will be resolved by a patch.

I have been addicted to the sims since the original game. I moved on to the sims 2 when it was released and purchased all of the expansion and most of the object packages along the way. So it was a no brainer for me to pre-order this game.. And I have to say I am completely disappointed. I have a quad core PC with plenty of ram and a decent graphics card. But the game is a bit dodgy even on my system. No longer can the direction of the mouse dictate where your view goes you actually have to click and drag now for the screen to move. It is a HUGE annoyance for anyone who played the other games. All of my sims look the same.. The faces are all round and they have chicken gullets. I have tried numerous times to get rid of those using the sims editor and no luck.. The color changing option is cool but it is a daunting task to change EVERY piece of furniture to match or coordinate using this feature.

I like how my sims can go downtown or work easier.. That is pretty cool.. How I can follow them instead of seeing the loading screen or having them disappear all together. But it's pretty retarded that I cannot follow them into the stores stores that I cannot go into or help my sims interact with other sims while they are in the stores or even at work. To me that defeats the purpose. Also you can only load one house hold at a time. Each house hold has its own town.. Which makes it hard for two sims families to come together when their children marry later in life.. Also what is up with the way the pregnant sims walk????

I like the additional interactions with objects and books. The new triplets feature is cool too..

But even with the few cool things this game to me is a dud! I have since gone back to the sims 2. Maybe things will change as time goes on, maybe they will release an expansion pack that will cost another chunk of change that will fix the problems. But for now I would say stick with the sims 2..

UT 2003 was a pretty good game, I played the demo for hours and hours, did the same with the full game and the same with Unreal Championship for Xbox. So when I got the UT 2004 demo for PC, I was pretty excited. But nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to experience. I immediately felt at home with the game, considering many of the weapons were the same, and much of the gameplay. But there was sooooo much more. So I played the demo everyday from the time it was released up to the time I received the full game. Believe it or not, playing that one stage in Onslaught for an entire month never got boring, that is just how great the game is. The full game however, is simply AMAZING!! The graphics are absolutely jaw-dropping, especially with the highest settings enabled (you need a powerful system to run this though). I don't think I've even seen graphics this great on any of the nexgen consoles. Also the stages are massive (mainly the Assault and Onsalught stages), its amazing to think of how much detail and creation when into the design of the stages. The sound in my opinion is also great. You can hear every little minute detail, and much of the music is good and suits the stage. The control is perfect, with the default settings being totally comfortable, allowing for maximum gameplay. Ahh yess, the gameplay. You thought Quake was good, you thought Halo was good, well they're pretty crappy compared to this game. The vehicles, the weapons, the bots, the entire style of the game, is simply outstanding. There is not enough to say about the vehicles. They put Halo's vehicles to shame. There is a perfect gun for every moment, each completely different from the other. The single player is exceptional for a multiplayer type game, and obviously the multiplayer aspect is fantastic, with up to 32 player online deathmatch, and no lag (with a proper connection). There are 10 modes of play, and about 100 levels. Then there's still the Unreal Editor which will allow you to create your own. There is also way too much that I cannot list here that you would just have to play and find out for yourself. I would actually go as far as to say this game is PERFECT. There is actually NOTHING wrong with it and EVERYTHING good. If you can overlook the extremely minor 'problem' of the 5.5 gig install, you'd be absolutely happy with your purchase. And at $40 retail, you cannot find a better videogame experience, period.

Best Deals for Unreal Tournament 2004

As someone who was a major addict of the original UT, and somewhat put off by the 2003 edition, I have to say that I have found that chemistry again with UT 2004. For whatever reason, "it" is back, and this game recaptures a lot of the great fun of the original.

While I personally thrilled to see the return of Assault, my favorite mode of gameplay, I must agree with many of the reviewers that Onslaught is the real star here. Onslaught provides for a long, agressive and surprisingly focused battle, which uses its vehicles well on the massive boards. In particular, the vehicle designs feel like a tremendous amount of refinement has been put into balancing their strengths, which was one of the things that truly brought a lot of fun into the original as well. This allows any person who is good enough with their favorite vehicle/weapon to excel, and that is really what makes these games fun. Unlike some games, where the person who got whatever weapon was the best could just devastate the world, UT2004 has created a setup which favors skill over resources as well as any game out there.

Of course, Unreal is also known for its graphics, and UT2004 delivers here as well. Surprisingly smooth for the level of detail delivered, UT2004 is a treat to look at. Audio is basic and boomy, with the biggest change being the return of the original announcer's voice. The top end is VERY high, though. I own a fairly substantial 2.5 GHz P4, 512 MB RAM, and a ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, and find that the middle settings on most of the many, many adjustable graphical effects are the best for relatively skip-free gameplay.

Which does bring us to the major weakness of the game: You need a fairly beefy system to play. While it certainly work surprisingly well on the minimum requirements, the 5.5 GB install is staggering, and the largest I have seen for ANY product, not just entertainment. With all of that data, load times for levels are gratingly long (sometimes in the 3-5 minute range for some of the really enormous Onslaught levels).

But Epic also maintains the other leg of the Unreal tradition: user mods. UT has kept a massive fanbase that constantly produces a long stream of fun and creative levels to play, and UT2004 does nothing to discourage this. In fact, a lot of the new graphical features, and the vehicles, have thrown even more arrows in the quiver of the internet world.

And speaking of which, the integration of Voice Over IP (VOIP) into the game is a major plus, especially in the popular and team-oriented Onslaught, Capture the Flag, Bombing Run, and Assault modes. Strategy and organization can be vastly improved with the ability to actually TALK to your mates.

Given all of the above, I would give UT2004 five stars for gameplay and value (mainly because of the added value of the massive internet modand map-making community), but I have to take one away for the heavy requirements and long load times. But still something I see myself playing a lot, warts and all, because the multiplayer aspect is just too much fun, all over again.

Honest reviews on Unreal Tournament 2004

Unreal 2004 combines UT 2003 and Halo together. I played the demo online and I must say the graphics are just beautiful. I have an ati radeon 8500 128mb, 1GB of corsair pc2700, and a p4 2ghz and I handeled the game at MAX settings at 1024x768 -the engine is really something. For those of you who say that 2003 was better, thats impossible, because if you don't like the cars and "complicated" missions, there are good ol' deathmatch, team deathmatch, FFA and capture the flag matches without vehicles. Sound deserves 5 stars. If you have an audigy and a nice sound system (like logitech z560) this game is gonna rock your house. The ONLY thing I didn't like was the lagginess on big public servers (im talkin 32 ppl). Sometimes it gets outa hand and you cant even aim straight. But if its a LAN party thats another story.

If you liked UT2003,then UT2004 will be off-the-hook!!

The graphics is phenomenal, also the AI isnot bad either.

I have 256mb Video,512mb ram,P4,DSL.

Over 100 levels of play, and new Maps.

My favorite game is the invasion board, you and your teammates (real or bots) must fight off a wave on monsters for 3minutes.

IF you are fragged you will respawn,if atleast 1 teammate survives,on the next wave, you will then respawn.

Each consecutive wave gets harder,as the monsters get tougher, and new monster appear, with deadlier weapontry.

I also like Onslaught,a sort on capture the flag game, but better. You must secure power-nodes,for you team. As you secure these nodes, you eventually get to the opposite teams base, and you can now destory there power-core to win.

Also, when playing the single player game, you win credits for every game you win against your opponent. You must pay your teammates, and also pay their injury bills. You can manage you team, sort of like XBOX's Madden 2004.

After installing your game, goto the website, and download the 12mb upgrade. This will allow you to play game, with out inserting the Play Disc.

enjoy...

If the screens for Get Fit with Mel B look familiar, it's for good reason. The game was developed by a company called Lightning Fish, which also happened to develop a game for the Wii called "New U Fitness" in the UK, where it was pretty well received (in a boneheaded marketing move, the same game was re-released in the US under the name "My Fitness Coach 2: Exercise and Nutrition"--you can read about why this was a boneheaded move under my review for that product).

The Wii game was not as bad as the reviews would indicate. It had a snazzy, three-dimensional opening menu, and you could choose on-screen instructors to lead you through a variety of basic calisthenics exercises (sit-ups, lunges, etc.). You could choose either individual exercises or have the system prepare a daily workout that combined different exercises based on your fitness goals. It had the typical bells and whistles of a Wii workout game such as allowing you to change your background scenery.

My initial impression of Get Fit with Mel B is that it's pretty much the same game as New U Fitness, just updated for the PS3. The premise of the game is more or less identical to My Fitness Coach 2 and in fact, so are the menu options:

The opening menu options are:

Today's Workout:

When you set up your profile, you can identify up to two fitness goals under the categories of General Health (weight loss, detox, lower cholesterol), Lifestyle (e.g. "Destress"), Special Occasions (e.g., new mom/dad, getting ready for the holidays), Sports and Activity training, and working on specific parts of your body. The system will automatically put together a daily 30-minute regimen of exercises that will target these goals.

Choose Workout:

Here, you can drill down to the specific exercises that you want. Exercises are broken into two categories: Fitness and Aerobics. Fitness exercises include things like crunches, squats, lunges, etc. You typically do them in reps of 10-20 before going onto the next exercise. For aerobics exercises, you can choose from a series of dance moves, boxing moves, or cardio moves.

There's also a "custom workout" option which lets you put together your own string of exercises (selecting exercises and defining the number of reps for each), a "practice" option which lets you practice certain exercises as many times as you like (anywhere from 4 to 96 reps), and a neat "challenges" option where you're pushed to complete a series of themed exercises (dance exercises, abs exercises, leg exercises, boxing exercises, and cardio exercises) within a certain amount of time.

Your Progress:

This section allows you to track your workout progress. One thing the Wii has that the PS3 doesn't is a balance board which will automatically chart your weight. So it's time to dust off that bathroom scale.

Nutrition:

I never quite understood the concept of having recipes on a video game. I get that they want to provide a "holistic workout regimen" that involves proper diet, but on the other hand, not many people have their TVs set up in their kitchen or a printer hooked up to their video game console.

There were a couple things about Get Fit with Mel B, that I really liked:

1) The game makes excellent use of video. You first get a hint of this when you seeing a video image of yourself under "Your Progress" in the opening menu options. To start, you first calibrate your video image (basically stand in front of the camera and let it scan you). As you start your exercises you'll see two exercise mats, the left one with a video image of Mel B (it's really her, not a creepy cartoon rendering), and the right one with--you! Your video image is actually superimposed on the screen! As Mel B does the exercises, you can match her movements and timing exactly, step by step, arm movement by arm movement. It's a vast improvement over the "do the mirror image of my movements" you find in Wii exercise games.

2) The scenery is breathtaking. Granted, when compared to other PS3 games it's probably not that impressive, and it's really just used as a backdrop (there's no interaction with the scenery). But for someone used to enduring choppy and cartoony Wii background scenery I was impressed. The first scene I chose was the "City Apartment", which was a window overlooking a city skyline. You can also choose to work out in a park, on a dock by the bay, at a poolside, in a forest meadow, and on a luxury yacht.

3) The array of individual exercises is impressive. There are 22 basic fitness exercises, but 15 dance exercises, 20 boxing exercises, 14 cardio exercises, and 14 advanced cardio exercises. Put them together in different orders with different amounts of reps, and you'll have a pretty good variety of workouts.

4) You can choose to work out using your own equipment, including an aerobics step, a fitball, a resistance band, wrist weights, and ankle weights.

Annoyances:

1) While other games say that you need to be at least 8 feet from the camera, most of the time you can get away with being 5-6 feet away. Not so with this game. Anything less than 8 feet and your video image will not appear on the screen properly.

2) For a lot of exercises, it simply doesn't make sense to have the Move controller tracking your moves. For standing exercises like squats, lunges, and jumping jacks it's great. But for exercises like push-ups and crunches it just doesn't make sense.

3) The game doesn't use the Playstation Move XMB navigation. I'll chalk this up to the developers not knowing about it, being an early release title. Still, it gets annoying having to point a cursor and click when every other Move game lets you hold down the trigger button and move the controller to navigate. Worse, you can't even use an available Dualshock or Sixaxis controller to control menu options.

4) This is an annoyance I don't think the game developers could have done anything about, but when performing exercises that require you to be on the floor, it's very tough on the neck to look up at the TV screen to follow the moves. Perhaps a little more audio guidance during these exercises would help.

5) In general, while the motion controls were a step above what you could find on the Wii, I didn't get the sense that they made full use of the Move's capabilities (generally, as long as there was ANY motion, it registered on the screen).

6) Tiny annoyance, but it seems the game developers forgot to convert certain screens for an American audience. When you first input your birthday, it took me a while to figure out that it was in "day-month-year" format versus "month-day-year". And what the heck is a "gram" or "milliliter" in the recipes section? :)

This has all the bearings of a game which is pretty well made for a first-generation title, but may not stand the test of time as newer and more innovative games come out. Still, for someone looking for a "pure" exercise game, it's not a bad choice. The ability to see your own actual video image next to Mel B is not just cool--there's no better way to help you visualize and time the exercise, particular for aerobics exercises. And the scenery is definitely beautiful and head-and-shoulders improved over what you'd see on a Wii. That, plus the fact that this is the first attempt at any fitness game for the PS3, gets it a solid 4 stars from me.

For "fun", I'll give it 2 stars, as at the end of the day it's still just a glorified exercise DVD, which I don't find particularly fun. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I hope as game developers produce more fitness titles for the PS3, that they can introduce more "gaming" elements to make workouts a lot more immersive and fun.

Today was my first workout so i don't have TOO much experience with this game but here's what i think so far:

Pros:

-you definitely feel like you're working out (i was sweaty at the end)

-you can set the amount of time you want to work out for

-there's no pauses between workouts

-the workouts are fun, for the most part

-you can set up the game to use certain workout equipment (if you have any)

-you can specify one or two goals you want (like slimming down, improving health, etc)

Cons:

-i live in an apartment building and the game requires lots of jumping

-some of the workouts were confusing and there's no real explanation of what to do

-sometimes, the image on the screen of you doesn't show up properly

-you really need the full 8 feet (or maybe even more) to use this. I have almost exactly 8 feet and the move camera didn't "see" me at times

Best Deals for Get Fit with Mel B - Playstation 3

I was super excited to get the game, after 4 workouts I am not so thrilled about it. It is getting frustrating really fast. Here are the issues I have encountered so far:

1. Each set of exercises is limited to 15 min and then you repeat the set for the total of 30 min. To me this is kind of annoying, because you go through standing exercises, ball, weights, floor and then all over again, so certain amount of time is lost and you cool down while getting weights on and off and so on.

2. The move controler is impossible to calibrate correctly or there is a bug in the software. If it is fine for one exercise it is not calibrated for the next one. I've contacted Deep Silver and was told that it is an issue with my set up and that they've never heard of a problem with the controller not registering the exercise. It will register movements completely randomly. When I press select button to calibrate it, it will show that the controller is not calibrated and recalibrate it again. Honestly, that happens around 10 times during 45 min workout that has a lot of movement in (dance, kickboxing) and it is very frustrating. Very. After working out for over a week, I am thinking that maybe it is related to me jumping and so on, which makes the floor vibrate and somehow shifts the eye? That is the only reason I can come up with, but I will keep trying to solve this.

3. It won't allow to make up reps. For example, if I miss a move for whatever reason (the controller doesn't register) I am still a move or two (or more) behind Mel, even though I am doing 2 reps for one of hers, so impossible to catch up.

4. The custom workout is limited to 15 exercises only. I haven't been able to save my custom workouts, so I have to choose the exercises every time not really helpful when you are trying to vary and cover all muscle groups.

5. The time limit supercedes the reps. On two occassions at the end of the active workout it cut the last exercise half way (right side only). I'd rather finish the rep than be in the exact 30 min.

6. The "encouragement/guidance?" part gets annoying fast. If you are doing 16 lunges, during the last 5-6 you hear "get your legs wider" or something to that effect at every single lunge. Or during the dance part :Now you are getting it :)

7. There is a gauge that measures your accuracy or how well you are performing the exercise and it affects your score at the end. From my experience so far I have no idea how to works. I can do the exercise really well and get 50% or I can just wave the controller and get 97%. The visual and verbal cues are completely off. For example on the chest fly when you hear "down" her arms are actually up so if you follow the verbal cues you will be off.

8. The warm up and cool down are the same every time. I am ok with the warm up, but with the cool down more stretches and variety would be great.

9. The challenges section: you get one of each (dance, legs of steel, cardio) I was hoping that it will be challenges, like in the other games, you pass one and there is a harder one waiting for you, at least couple of different levels would be nice.

This is what I've noticed so far. The only positive I can see right now is that despite all the issues I am exercising, which is obviously better than doing nothing. I wish the developers have spent more time on the exercise portion I don't see any point in the recipe part. As another reviewer mentioned, probably no one has a PS3 in the kitchen.

Honest reviews on Get Fit with Mel B - Playstation 3

Every gamers have different tastes. I just want to say this game is not as complicated as you think it is. I has been a body-builder for 12 years. This game is very easy to get use to it if you has experienced in fitness with personal trainer. My wife loves the game, at first, she was having rough time it is all because she never experience fitness with personal trainer in her life but things have changed she truly enjoys it. When I gave my first try, it was easy for me but what impressed me the most, I can feel muscles and body cooling. This game is some serious workout! I been testing this game for while, I been having this game for at least a month before I made my personal honest review.

Pros:

* It is very easy to create a profile.

* It is very easy to follow instructions, if you need help or explanation, you can always use a guides or tutorials that will show you how to work out the right way in the game! If you don't understand the trainer, you can always use subtitle as an option which I am hard of hearing myself.

* Calibrating the camera and the move is not really that hard like everyone experienced, like I said every gamers have their own tastes.

* It is fun, electrifying, it entertaining, and wonderful piece of game for anyone who wants to workout for shapes, healthy body, energy, stress relieve and making lifestyle better.

*Dance Mode

* Nice Musics

* Good Picture Quality

* Serious workout

Cons:

There aren't no cons in the game, it just people doesn't spend enough time to go through the whole game and settings to figure everything out.

Why skip a manual book and straight to gaming after feeling there was a con?

* Meal plan option was not as confusing it is, all it saying what we can eat for a day.

Things you need to know:

*Avoid Bright Light/Light Windows in the background because it will make the PS Eye will see it as overexposures.

* Tracking the body perfectly done in about 6-9 feet.

* You do not always have to hold the move for the whole time when you work out, you can place the Move anyway near you for the camera can show your body on the screen just like the Kinect. The Move's light ball will keep the camera tracking your body.

"People, Don't be afraid to buy this game if you are looking for a decent game to help your fitness! Buy it and Enjoy it! Trust in Me, it worth the Pennies!!"

I would rated this game 4.5 out of 5

My few complaints: i needed more time than she did to get down and up off the floor, so i had to pause the game for that (getting faster now). Also, I have to move the camera to point down and see me do floor work, to get a good score and keep progressing in difficulty. Lastly, I wish there were more background scenery options.

What I love: The variety. The main challenge with exercise is to keep things interesting. After changing around the personal goal settings, I finally settled on 50% overall body toning / 50% thighs/abs/tummy. This gives me great toning workouts which i do M,W,F, with intervals on the treadmill on the alternating days. I just turn on the game in the morning and she's got a new lineup for me to try.

The PS3 Move: I really like the camera putting you up there on the screen. I've got felt-footed furniture and a hard floor, I just scoot everything out of the way, learned how to adjust the camera just right, and I usually get great feedback for most of the game.

I've been on a buying spree with workout games lately, and, once I narrowed down the personal goal settings that worked for me, this one is my favorite, more than EA Active 2, Zumba, Gold's Gym Dance... Just Dance and Just Dance 2 are in a league of their own for really fun (and sweaty!) cardio IF i can get both my daughters playing with/against me.

I don't use the Nutrition thing on this or any of my games. I follow South Beach.
