Halo Special Edition Xbox Game System Review

Halo Special Edition Xbox Game System

Yep, that's right, it's an awesome limited edition bundle.

This bundle came packaged with 1 see-through green XBox, 1 Controller, which has HALO as the label vs other controllers, which have the letter "X," as well as the necessary hookups. This bundle also included a copy of Halo. The box was of course different as well, since this was a limited edition run. It had Halo related material (Master Chief, etc.) splashed around here and there. This is a nice machine for what it is. I've personally been using mine for years and both the XBox and controller still work like new (I've kinda kept the controller in somewhat "unused" condition, since I didn't want to mess it up). If you're a collector, like Halo, or enjoy video games in general, this is a nice bundle, especially since it's quite different from most XBox systems.

Xbox was ahead of it's time back in 2001 when it was released, & was a nice graphical improvement over the PS2. My original Xbox was damaged by lightning so when I found this at the great price, & green, I had to snatch it up. The product arrived, in great condition, & now I can continue playing many of my Xbox games which are not back compatible with the Xbox 360. I am a console collector & the Xbox is among my favorite consoles, ever. Love it..

Honest reviews on Halo Special Edition Xbox Game System

When i was a little younger i got this for christmas back in 2001 and loved it. I had over 100hrs of halo 2 on it. I loved modding the console also. I had sold it once the 360 came out which was a huge mistake! So i decided to buy a "collectors condition" model and its great! The console has everything it came with sealed! I plan to keep this for a long time and see the value go up. GReat for any Halo fan!

When I got this particular system, it was all dirty and dusty inside out. I needed to dissemble this system to clean it. after I cleaned it, it function good for a little while. Then it started to scratch up my video game discs, so I got rid of it.

Plugs in via the USB port just like any other, but instead it plugs into the battery itself so you can take out the battery from the controller and charge just the battery. I like it and found it to be a better replacement than an OEM.

Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars

This controller is wonderful! I didn't want to blow $70 on a modded OEM controller, so this was the perfect alternative.

PROS

-Nice design

-LEDS on both handles

-3 modes for rapid fire

-rapid fire can be programmed to more that one button

-8ft of cable

-Works great for modern warfare 2

-Plug and play!

CONS

-Awkwardly bulky; feels weird in your hands at first, but you get used to it fast

-Cant attach a chatpad to it

-In Call of duty: world at war, the semi auto weapons will fire automatic, but at a very slow fire rate (Due to coding in the game)

-People will talk a bunch of smack and send you hateful msgs, calling you a hacker (Thats okay though, its hilarious!)

Build Quality: *** (A little too bulky)

Design: **** (Looks very nice)

Functionality: ***** (programmable to almost every button, and multiple buttons)

Overall, i give this controller a 4/5. Its a great tool to own in your favorite game!

Well,i wandered around amazon for a bit looking for a replacement for my madcatz controller[ the crummy thing's joysticks were getting uncallibrated and had a big RB issue.]

This controller got to me a couple days ago, suprisingly faster than i expected.my first impressions were, that the controller is a bit thick.depending on how you hold a controller, you might have problems with this, but it wasn't an issue for me.

The triggers are also a bit thick, and take a bit of force to fully pull.luckily, they only have to be yanked about halfway down, not even that,to get the buggers to work. The bumpers aren't as large as the ones on my last controller, but they work and are very easy to hit/activate,so always a plus for me.

hm,if i had to make some lists for this thing it would look like this..

PROS

+turbo function

+easy to hit bumpers

+larger triggers

+joysticks work with little force, and don't feel like they'd give if pushed excessively

CONS

-triggers take a bit of force to fully press in

-controllers thickness can make it odd to hold

-the lights activated by the controllers turbo warm up the grips to suprisingly temperatures if left on for a long time[took ~4 hrs for it to get to that point though]

overall though,if i had the cash,i'd get another one of these bad boys.

i was actually pretty happy about this order. its worth the money i paid for it wich is for teh turbo setting since i didnt feel like cutting up my $60 controller jsut to mod it like this and being able to pick how fast the contoller is is also a plus since some games cant register the highest setting.

+pros

-progamable speed

-turbo setting (duh)

Cons-

-the design of the controller is ...Chunky.. what i meen is that it doesnt fit snugly in your hand and feels weird.

-it doesnt feel solid and feels like it whants to break in your hands.

-the controllpad and directional pad are not the best.

other thoughts-

it is a wired controller wich i wouldnt count as a con or pro it depends on your preference since it is able to plug and play on a computer wich is really nice. also since it is wired it does not guzzle batteries wich if your an avid gamer can become costly

I'm just going to keep it simple.

Reasons not to buy this controller:

1) Very stupid controller design. Grips claw into you, hurting your hands big or small. Thumbsticks are convex and plastic without any bumps (making it extremely hard to keep your thumbs accurate).

2) The turbo fire goes off very slowly compared to any other turbo controller-It also sometimes jams your gun from firing in First Person Shooters.

3) Controller parts are made extremely cheap. I opened my controller up because a trigger physically jammed after 5 minutes of use, and there isn't much holding ANYTHING together.

4) It's Datel. It's a crap company to begin with, with a crap reputation for making crap products.

In Summary: When Datel was making this controller, evidently QUALITY IS OBVIOUSLY THE LAST THING THEY HAD IN MIND FOR IT. Thanks for reading.

The "It's a Piece of Cake" game is soooo easy. There are lots of different levels and is really more about exploration than game skill. That's what's great about it for kids...they will love it and can actually play it. The "It's No Picnic" game also has lots of levels and was really more challenging than I expected. It took me quite a while to master the jumping and stuff. You can only use the directional buttons on the controler to move Hefty, and it takes a while to get the hang of it. I was very surprised and it was more difficult than I expected. Alot of times it just feels like the Smurf is NOT doing what you commanded it to, but precision and learning the timing of Hefty's movements is key to mastering this game. Practice makes perfect in this game. Game play was quite fun, but the end where you beat Gargamel was not as challenging as I expected compared to the rest of the game. The end was a bit disappointing. My 5 yr old can play the first two levels of "It's No Picnic", so even the harder portions of the game are good for kids as well as adults. I think you'll be happy with this game. It's not the greatest, but it's definitely not the worst. It has some great things to offer.

The biggest flaw with the port of Bully would be the controls, but these are easily alleviated by using a gamepad, ideally the Xbox 360 controller itself. Other than that the game runs pretty well on the PC, and is just as fun as it was on the console. The gameplay is varied enough, and the story has the classic Rockstar tongue in cheek satire, and the sandbox world is fun to explore.

Good games taken with another offer for my steam library. I love it a lot, it's a good game. Bye.

Best Deals for Bully: Scholarship Edition

This game is exactly what you'd expect. It's a GTA-esque game with a school as a setting. The theming is nothing short of amazing. Every school clique is very different from one another, and the music itself is great. My only issue with this game is that it was originally a PS2 title, then ported to the PC and Wii, and you can clearly tell it doesn't run how it should, even with a good PC. The menus, for example, are all navigated with the keyboard, and if you want to use a gamepad, it might be a little confusing toggling it (try using the left and right keys on your keyboard on the "control settings", it took me a while to figure out)

The game is great, and if you're willing to overlook these non-game-breaking issues, you're in for a great ride. I managed to 100% the game in exactly 24 hours, but I had prior knowledge of the game, since I own the PS2 version.

I play lots of video games on my PC and they've been a lot more enjoyable since getting this headset. The first thing I noticed when I put these on was that they were extremely cushiony on my head. This is both a good and bad thing because it makes them very comfortable, but they blocked out so much noise that I had a hard time hearing even my doorbell or phone ringing. The headset is a bit tight on my head, but I think that'll wear off as I wear it more. The earcups actually swivel a bit in place which makes them more comfortable for people that don't have perfectly symmetrical heads such as myself.

This headset is great for gaming. In fps's like Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike Source, this headset let me hear the direction shots were being fired from with a lot more precision than my previous headset. I could also hear small details in the sounds that I couldn't hear before. The sound in the headset sounded odd at first, like they were quiet or like they were coming from behind me, but after a while they felt more realistic and accurate. I am guessing this is because I am used to wearing any old lousy headset.

The headset is also great for music. I noticed a huge improvement in the quality of the bass from my old headset(the headset I used before, a Logitech Extreme Gaming Headset had almost no bass). I'm not a huge music person, but I notice the little details a lot more easily than with my old headset

The microphone with this headset is pretty good. When voice-chatting on MSN/live messenger, the voice quality is better than when talking to someone with my phone. The in-line controls are in a good position and easy to reach while wearing the headset. The microphone-mute button works fine and the volume control has a good range. One nice thing about it is that you can remove the microphone, which is useful for people like my little brother who rarely need a microphone and don't want it in their way (one thing to note is the first time I tried attaching the mic, I didn't realize it has to fit a specific way into the slot on the headset and accidentally chipped a piece of the plastic by forcing it in the wrong way, but it still works perfectly fine).

This headset is not perfect however. I've found one tiny problem that may occur, though it's not really something to worry about. I have this headset plugged into my speaker, which is then connected to the back of my computer so it probably wont affect you unless you have a similar setup. If I have the volume set to the absolute max on my speaker but lowered all the way on my headset, I can sometimes still hear sound playing quietly through my headset. This only occurs under these specific conditions though, so you should never really have this problem unless you really push your headset's limits.

Overall the headset does not have many flaws and feels great to work with. It's very comfortable and is easily adjustable for different uses. Don't be fooled, even though this headset is a lot cheaper than the other fatality headsets, it still has excellent sound quality at an affordable price.

PS: One thing they don't note on the box for this headset is that it comes with a neat little pouch. It's a bit odd, because although you probably could fit the headset in there, it's not exactly shaped for one so it would look and feel a bit odd to store it there. It's nice quality, measuring about 9x10 inches, but would probably be used for other things besides the headset. It's nice to have laying around the house anyway.

I'm not sure why but mic/headphones don't seem to be easy to makethey tend to be expensive or lousy or both. This one is the first pair I've bought that I've been happy with.

The ear muffs are comfortable for relatively extensive use. I've used them for about two hours straight without my ears or head starting to hurt or get sweaty. The muffs also muffle out a lot of the ambient noiseit's not noise canceling but it's easy to hear conversations even when the TV is playing in the other room.

The mic works well alsopeople don't hear me breathing but can still hear what I'm saying well. It doesn't get in the way although the connector to the removable mic does get loose about once a weekyou just push it back in and it's fine. I have noticed that Skype thinks the volume of the mic is too low but people I'm talking to say it works just fine.

Now to some of the relatively minor downsidesthe mic switch is hard to see if you wear glasses but don't have them on. The writing and icons are small and written in silver so you basically just have to memorize which way is which same with the volume control which is a small wheel in the same plastic bobble on the headset cord.

The cord is of good length and good qualityno intermittent breakups or breakages yet which is something I can't say about all headsets.

Best Deals for Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset

I have no problem with the sound quality or voice quality...only the product durability. Didn't take long till the left ear started to crackle...then go out all together. The connection in the left ear is failing! I can move the cord around and get sound (or not get sound). This after only a couple of months of use...and it wasn't even heavy use...I've been busy on other things and my gaming time has been reduced. Just beware that if you buy it....you will have to baby it so it doesn't break. But is was great sound and comfort while it lasted.

Honest reviews on Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset

I was very happy with the purchase. This headset is a lot better than my older one and I play a lot of PC games. I play a lot of TF2 and Counter Strike, so sound quality is paramount. Sound quality is amazing, I can easily hear the footsteps of players coming and the bass is very good as well. While, the noise cancellation of this headset isn't the best, it does its job and I don't get that distracted from outside noise. The mic is pretty neat too in that you can take it off and you can adjust it easily. Only problem I have is the comfort level of this headset. If I play for a couple hours my ears start to hurt, but I don't mind it much. Anyways, all I'm trying to say is, this headset is worth the money and you're getting a great deal. I love this headset!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset

Bought these to use with my Dell XPS M1530. I'm very happy with the sound and am extremely happy with the microphone quality. This headset blows my old 5.1 speaker system completely out of the water, and makes my games sound incredibly immersive. I felt like I was really in Rapture while playing Bioshock 2. The removable boom microphone is very nice and I haven't had any problems with the way it connects or the flexibility. I would buy again.

Edit: More than a year later, these headphones are still kicking strong and comfortable. I've had no trouble with the removable mic, it still works great. I recently tried using these headphones with my stereo amp, and WOW! The sound really pops! It seems like computers just don't have the horsepower to make these cans really sing.

We bought this for my 6 y/o daughter to go with the X-Box we bought for Christmas. We have not owned a game system except for a game-boy since the original Nintendo came out. This game has been fun for us all. We all play at the same time, which makes for some family fun. My daughter is able to play some alone without getting too frustrated and does well when we all play. Personally I enjoy the comedic elements that have been well thought out. If you are a hard core gamer you will probably get bored of it quickly. It may not be as challenging as you like. We have gotten over half way through without a cheat book, which is amazing for most games.

This is a quaint game geared for the younger set, but brimming with fun, but not too challenging puzzles. You control one of four characters from the movie in your group (Shrek, Princess Fiona, Gingerbread Man, and yes Donkey) and each has a special ability. Other characters join and leave your group as the game progresses (some new friends not even in the movie). You'll need each one's special ability to make it further through the games storyline. It's very gamer friendly (read, fun for kids), and you rarely die, just a 'do over' until you get it right. The camera controls get a bit awkward at times, forcing the player to zoom in to see the action. Also, the more linear environments get cramped and with 3 other characters helping you do battle, it can get confusingly chaotic. The game is spiced with many 'mini-games' (Hero Time) that feature one character that again, should appeal to the younger gamer. The voices are either the actors or dead-on imitations, so the dialog is snappy with plenty of humor presented in the movies. Aside from a few quirky camera controls and crowded fighting and the overall shortness of the game ... any little Shrek-head should have a good time with this.

My husband just bought this for my five year old daughter (preschool graduation gift:)). She hasn't been able to leave it alone. Now, she's a little more advanced in the world of gaming than some her age, and definitely better than me, her mom so I can't recommend it for every kid but if your kid is adept at x-box they should enjoy this one. It doesn't hurt that she loves the movie as well.

I am the mother of four. I have three boys ages 2,4 & 6 and a little girl age 3. This game has been fun for all of us. You can play up to four players and the game is fun to watch as well as play. My older boys have had so much fun playing this game for hours and hours. We've won the game countless times and started over again from scratch. The game has many levels and lots of tasks to do. The graphics are great and the challenges are fun. My four year old has a little trouble with some of the harder parts, but my six year old is able to take the lead with ease. Great game for family fun, cheering each other on and playing a game with the familiar faces of characters they love in the movies. *It's a bonus that with each level, the four characters change to make it more interesting.

This game is way better than Croc 2! It has comfortable camera

angles and really cool sounds and graphics! I'm hardly through

the first level but I really like it! Every level has alot of

variety and different bad guys in it. Controls are easy to learn

and easy to use, but the Playstation game pad isn't very comfortable for this game so you should get another one for better controls. In this game Croc can do alot of cool different

things like swimming under water jumping on enemies and riding

hot air ballons just to name a few. This game has lots of cool

things in it. The graphics are totally jawdropping compared to

the graphics in Croc 2. Croc makes his debut on Game Boy Color,

Plastation, and not on Computer. My only complaint about this

super-cool game is that Croc can only kill enemies with his body

by jumping on them. And can't tail-whip them like he can in Croc

2. Even if that move is disabled from Croc, this game is an

excellent classic. If you're at a store and you're trying to

decide which game to by, if you have a Playstation by this cool

game, if you don't by this game for Game Boy Color, and if you

don't have one you're really unlucky, and you shoudn't buy it for

Computer even though you have one...

I think this game is more than most of the review make it out to be. This game is SUPPOSED to be challenging, and it is not as frustrating as most think. It's actually really adorable, and has a good setting with cute characters. The camera mode you do have to fiddle with though. But you do get used to it. I was definately hooked on this game, cute, challenging, and fun. 5 stars all the way!

Best Deals for Croc: Legend of the Gobbos

Though the game is very appealing in regards to its visual style, the controls are abyssmal. In level 1-3 at the end of the level, you are required to perform a "whack-a-mole" type game in order to get the last gobbo. Since the controls (or uncontrols) are glitchy at best and unplayable at worst, the game begins to not be a game and more of a nuisance. The analog versus digital controls have no bearing to eachother and you find yourself toggling back and forth just so you can have some margin of control. A game to avoid by any standard.

Honest reviews on Croc: Legend of the Gobbos

I missed the old 90's platformers so I got this used for $5.00. No complaints as far as the game's entertainment value or condition. However I have gotten rather spoiled from today's platformers like the LBP series. Man I started playing and got instantly pissed off at having to turn Croc in the direction he was going before moving him forward. As mentioned in previous comments the most annoying part is having to dodge enemies or having to time your jumps almost perfectly in a few of the mini games with these old digital controls. You better practice shifting from left to right in mid-air if you want to find all those gobbos.

To be a bit more specific about the controls you can move the camera using the R2 and L2 buttons. You can't see all around you but it helps a lot sometimes when you need a better view of what's ahead. If you want to make a perfect 180 degree turn just hit the circle button. Use L1 and R1 for small side steps left and right.

(SPOILER BELOW)

Lol I guess you can say I cheated a bit. One reviewer mentioned the wac-a-sheep challenge being annoying. Well annoying it may be but it's nothing compared to the cauldron challenge in the "Dungeon of Defright" level. Ugh just thinking of that level makes me want to throw that black pot in a pit of lava. Basically it's a lot like the sheep challenge only jewels are falling from the sky and you need to catch them in the cauldron. You have to catch a total of 38 items including 2 hearts and a gobbo. If you miss even one you have to move on to the next part of the dungeon without rescuing the gobbo. I had succeeded in this once and only ONCE, only for me to fail the wac-a-reaper challenge (which I could pass easily) and still be stuck with only 5 mf gobbos. Can you say Irony? Well I don't have the kind of time I did as a kid. Fortunately I accidently found a way around this.

The first challenge in the level is one where you have three boxes and you have to guess which box the gobbo is under after they get switched around. Here's what you do: be sure to have stocked up on lives before starting the level. Guess the correct box, grab the gobbo, and let the dantini kill you. When you reaper the lil fuzzball will be right in front of you, box free. Grab it again and keep letting the dantini kill you until you're sure you'll have at least six by the end of the level. Complete the level and viola, you can save as many gobbos as you want and you'll be allowed to get the jigsaw piece from the first secret level of Dante's castle.

Overall I enjoyed the game a lot. I never finished it as a kid so 12 years later here I am. It felt good to finally rescue all the lonely gobbos and finally give poor cute lil Croc a breather. Getting to 100 percent wasn't terribly difficult, and the bosses were RIDICULOUSLY easy. I guess that was they're way of making up for the annoying controls. Don't worry though. If we could do this when we were kids we can do it 2 diplomas and several much more difficult games later.

Lots to collect

5 stars on this

#1. This is a platform game so theres much to collect such as white crystals they are like your health bar get hit once lose them all but you get about 5-7 seconds to pick them up again after that poof their gone gobbos their hidden all over every level theres 6 in total 5 in the main area and 1 in the secret challange area to get to this you have to collect 5 color crystals to unlock a special door theres also keys in some levels small silver keys are usually to unlock a small cage contaning a button to open a door or a gobbo jumping around speaking its snout off but in some cases theres no switch for this look for a large gold key that will usually open a door with a gold keylock on it the key will dissapear after use.

#2

4 stars on this

the controlls are quite comfortable exept this difficulty that haunts me through the whole game is the camera angels it dosent let you adjust it appently it ajusts itself in a in a pretty dumb way which makes it hard to jump from platform to platform making it frustrating to repeat over and over but that can be overlooked with the awesome gameplay

#3 5 stars on this I love the bosses from some that chase and tackle you to some that shoot fire and ice bolts at you some that jump at you from the water not to mention the obstacles like when jumping little fire balls with faces running around a platform or flame or ice blotches jumping up from the ice river or lava river so be carefull when jumping

#4 characters are really cute not much violence in this game but dont be fooled its a pretty tough game itl take a while to beat 100% so this isnt only for kids

#5 this game is just so well put together i love the music its so calming and relaxing the story is deep without having many cutsceens and the graphics are pretty nice has a few difficulty not as seamless as they say but it still has pretty clear graphics

#6 its just plain awesome oh wait your waiting for cons right THERE ARE NONE! just the whole camera angle thing but its not much value on the scale of awesomeness so go out get this it will last very long months of entertainment if you want 100% oh and not to spoil anything but theres special jigsaw puzzle peices that unlock a secret!........ well i cant say read the manual and see where it takes you enjoy this great classic!

Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil - Xbox Review

Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil - Xbox
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Doom 3 RoE is a truly great game. It picks up where Doom 3 left off. In my opinion, this game is better than Doom 3 because the action is faster and there's less talking. You don't have to play through 3 boring levels to get to the real action like you did last time. All of the levels are brand new and more enjoyable this time around. That's right, the levels are more spaced out. Plus, there are several new weapons including the double-barrel shotgun. There's also weapon you get in the first level that you can use to control enemy fire and move stuff around. Kind of neat! There are several new enemies too. I like this game. The action is much more fast-paced. The gameplay is the same as Doom 3, but it's still an awesome game nonetheless. This game also includes PC versions of Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, and Doom 2 Master Levels.

If you enjoyed Doom 3, then you should enjoy this game. Both of the Doom 3 games are all about heaping on the tension; combining a creepy atmosphere with enemies that like to attack out of dark corners or from behind. It's definitely a different feel from FPS like, say, HALO, and maybe it's not for everyone. But I dug it.

That being said, I do have some complaints about Resurrection of Evil... first off, the game is substantially shorter then Doom 3-it seems that by the time you get the hang of the new weapons, the game is over. This would be no big deal if you were buying it as an expansion to the PC version, but the X Box item is a game unto itself. And it is actually more expensive then Doom 3! On top of this, the game didn't seem to be as polished as Doom 3: there are problems with sound synchronization, blocky visual artifacts and, on more then a few occasions, the frame rate starts choking. I had none of these problems with the first game.

As I said, I liked the game. But the combination of the flaws, the short game, and the price, made it less enjoyable then the first Doom 3.

First off i would like to say that in my opinion resurection of evil is not better than the other doom3 but is a great add on to the already perfected doom3. This game doesn't lack much except for the fact that the stages are shorter. This i didnt like, if it was just expanded a couple stages more and made longer this game would be perfect. But i think this game is better weapons wise. You get most of your weapons in the first 3 stages, and not like in the other doom3 were you got a gun per stage. :P otherwise this is an exact replica of the other doom3.

But this is cool because you go back to previous stages in the other doom3(portal to hell, hell, teleporting bay, the stage were you fight the first dog demon thingy, and the very first stage of doom3) so its pretty well thought out and loads of fun

Well in this doom3 there are 2 new foes and 2 new weapons to choose from.

-well im not sure what the 2 new enemies are called but there called something.

-The two new weapons are a gravity gun and sarges double barrel shotgun.(which is my favorite weapon) I also think the shotgun is the most affective throughout the game until you get the rocket launcher and the plasma rifle.

But also in this doom 3 you get a pretty cool artafact that gives you skills of destroyed foes. It is like a soul steeler err something.

-well anyways you get 3 skills(but not right away)

1. is where you kill a big teleporting beast, this gives you the power to move at tremendious speeds, everything is slow motion except you!! very cool.

2. is were you kill another huge beast that has a diferent power, this gives you the power of berserker. berserker gives you the power to attack 3X as effective when you shoot an enemy, basically 1 hit kill with sarges double barrel.

3. the third boss when defeated gives you invunerability. this allows you to walk on any terain. which is useful in hell and fighting the final boss.

ALL THESE SKILL are used at once and you must activate the artifact to do so. You need to steel souls of dead marines and othe people to charge the artifact.

I would also encourage you to get the first doom3 before buying this game, because you wouldn't know whats going on and you wouldn't know the full story. errr bye them both at once and play doom3 first.

Honest reviews on Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil - Xbox

This is the expansion from Doom 3, so naturally it's not going to be the same length. Granted the price tag of thirty-five dollars for an expansion pack is extreme in itself. Honestly, it's ridiculous and should be longer than the average expansion. Unfortunately, after playing this, I don't think the story line should have been shorter. Maybe the production costs exceeded what the developers planned, or someone wants to cash in somewhere. Frankly, I think it was the right length for the story told rather than delving into tedium. But people do have merit in their complaint for such an outrageous price. I recommend waiting until you can get it used for a more reasonable price of twenty dollars (standard expansion price tag these days).

Anyway, on to the actual review. It looks like the developers tried to fix some of the things that people disliked in the first Doom 3 installment. For example the pistol has a flashlight on its end. A smarter move would have been to have a flashlight that attaches to your head, because that would actually make a lot more sense, ah well... at least you can shoot enemies while holding the light this time. The other thing that seems to have changed is that the game is a lot brighter for the most part. This was a huge improvement from the original Doom 3. There are really only two sections of the game where you are plunged into absolute darkness, so it doesn't feel nearly as daunting or annoying. On top of these changes they had two new weapons which were the double barreled shot gun and this other guy that affected gravity. Basically it's like the gravity gun from Half Life 2. Real original... I know. They also have a few more new enemies like the Hunters. I think they were the giant creatures that shot rockets at me at least. They were a lot more challenging than some of the other creatures in Doom 3, so these were a pretty good addition.

For the most part this game plays just like Doom 3 aside from the above mentioned changes, so to read about the rest of the game check out my review of Doom 3. The part of this game that was pretty lacking to me was the story line, which is why it got knocked down to three stars. At the end of Doom 3 you're left feeling that it is definitely left open for a sequel. However, the way they tied the two games together was pretty poor. After all the craziness in Doom 3, the researchers on the planet went right back to what they were doing before? And the part that confuses me after this game is that it sort of sounds like the threat of Hell coming into our dimension is closed forever... so does that mean they can't make another Doom? I don't know, the Doom story line was so misshapen that it was just hard to follow as you went along in the game... not to mention you're left wondering if you're the same marine from Doom 3? Nothing is mentioned about your character! I think one thing that also made the story feel a little less involving was the PDA's didn't have that many voice reports. I thought these were ingenious in the first game because it really felt you were affected by what's going on. Nothing says "get involved" like hearing real people's voices make reports. I thought it added a lot to the FPS atmosphere. There were a lot of PDA's to find throughout the game, but it didn't drive the story nearly as much as it did in Doom 3. So this lackluster play in a roughly six hour game really diminished the experience. Don't get me wrong, the environments were awesome, but the point of being there was really not clear.

If you liked Doom 3, then it is definitely worth getting the expansion pack. You don't get nearly as clear of a story line as in the first game, but you do get a conclusion to the game. Granted I had a hard time following the point of the story, but you find out what happened to your enemy that was around at the end of Doom 3. Anyway, they made some marginal improvements, but they could have done a lot better. Maybe I'm just spoiled because Half Life 2: Episode 1, had a superb story line with a cliffhanger ending that made me want more and Doom 3 just doesn't deliver that.

If you know me or at least have read some of my reviews, you know I'm a huge DOOM fanatic. For example, DOOM 3 is by far the best DOOM game ever. So i.d. software decided to make an expansion pack for DOOM 3. This was soon to be called: DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil. Now was this a good idea or a bad idea. Some might recommend this game to be manufactured, but on the other hand, some might beg to differ. But of course, you are reading this to see my perspective of the game. So what do what I think... this was a pretty damn good game! But this doesn't even touch DOOM 3. Want to know why? Well, a lot of it wasn't done much to the game. I mean, it kind of looks the same. But even the graphics aren't as good. And besides, wasn't this game supposed to be an expansion or at least some what of a sequel to DOOM 3? This game is practically a stand-alone game. But after all of the flack I have given this game, I still think this is a great DOOM game and it does deserve 5 stars. But if you're going to get a DOOM game, just get DOOM 3. It's much better. Goodnight!!

Many have said that this game falls short because one could press random buttons and win. I have found that this doesn't really apply. I have played this game extensively, including in games against novice players. A player who blocks, uses the special moves and combos efficiently, and has a fighting strategy will almost always win. I find that this game is fairly challenging, and is actually difficult on very hard. This game has awesome graphics combined with all of your favorite characters from the Tekken series and very cool special moves and combos. Although you can get lucky and hit some special moves by just pressing buttons, many of the moves are difficult to perform and do a lot more damage than the previously mentioned moves. An experienced player can string together moves and beat any novice pressing buttons, contrary to what some people say. Tekken Tag Tournament is a great game, and all fighting game fans with a PS2 should own and love this game.

Yes, they've finally done it! In the past, you'd see the cut-scenes of a game and then be disappointed by the actual blocky characters you had to move around. With Tekken Tag Tournament on the PS2, the characters are fluidly smooth, the backgrounds are INCREDIBLE and the combinations of moves for each character both reflect the personality of the fighter and are executed flawlessly on the screen.

The Tag Tournament aspect might seem distracting before you've tried it, but in the game it adds another entire strategic layer to how you play. You can choose two players who have opposite skill sets, so that you choose which one to kill off your opponents with. Or, you can choose with matching skills so that you continue to hammer on your foes with a certain style of play.

Even better, certain combinations of characters can do a special tag move, so that one player does something on his/her way 'out' and the other character finishes the move while coming into the arena. Very, very cool!

And those graphics! Your characters can wear different outfits. The fire in the torches looks like REAL fire one of the hardest things to do on a computer. The leaves on the ground actually scatter when you slam your enemy into the floor.

Definitely a game to get if you enjoy fighting games at all, and one which will knock the socks off of your friends when they see it on your TV!

Any serious gamer will agree that Tekken is one of the most advanced and fun fighting games around. It has survived through 4 versions and managed to not stagnate like many others have. Mortal Kombat for example. The game combines characters from all three tekkens and still retains playabilty. This is because all of the characters have been upgraded and they all have new moves.

As for the graphics. We all know that the ps2 is a graphics machine. And TTT is no exception. As far as I'm concerned, TTT on the ps2 looks better than any game in the arcade, PC, or dreamcast to date.

If you want a game that won't collect dust on your entertainment center after 10 hours of gameplay, then I highly recommend you look into this game. I've been playing it since it came out, and I will continue to play it until the next version of tekken is released.

Honest reviews on Tekken Tag Tournament - PlayStation 2

Is Tekken Tag Tournament the end-all be-all fighting game? No. But it is an unqualified success as a game. It takes much of what preceded it in the Tekken series and elevates it with eye-popping graphics and hip new sound.

Now let me speak to all those who are griping. Here is a fact: This game is DEEP. Not a little, a LOT. If you're complaining because you can only pull off a simple move, then you simply haven't spent enough time on the game to learn to love the intricacy of it. It saddens me to think that the potential of this game is so huge that most gamers will only scratch the surface before their simple minds get frustrated and they go back to Barney-o, excuse me... Mario and suck their thumbs. Tekken demands a lot from the player, and if you aren't willing to excel, then go buy Fuzzy Bunnies 5 for N64. Only gamers need apply.

And anyone who recommends Soul Caliber or DOA2 over 3T, I will say this. If you need cartoon T&A to get you to play a fighting game, you are a sad and pathetic human being. DOA2's engine is a decent foundation, but any credibility gets thrown right out the window with the constant jiggle factor thrown in so the pre-teens can dream about handling the merchandise.

And as for Soul Calibur (a great game, no argument there) I will say this: Weapon-based fighters are inherently inferior. Great, one person stands on one side of the room, the other person stands on the other, and you both pull off cheesy moves without ever getting into striking distance. And inevitably in weapon-based fighters, both players have "special moves" (Soul Calibur is guilty of this) that all but cripple your opponent's life-bar. If you want to fight, hand-to-hand combat is the only way to go. If you want to flail around with a sword twice as big as your body (Toshinden anyone?) while remaining out of range of the other guy, why bother? It turns into a game of keep-away, not a strike-counterstrike effort.

Yes, Tekken takes much of its gameplay from its predecessors. It's called "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." The move-base is expanded though, and it is possible to use multiple styles with the same person, which rewards the user that cares to explore those possibilities. So, long story short, Tekken Tag is as good as you want to make it. The best fighting games are like that, merely a vehicle through which the skilled gamer builds their craft.

And if anyone needs a hint, the most important thing to remember about the Tekken series is that the game is all about opportunity. Try the practice mode to see what I mean. Tekken is all about that split-second pause that occurs when your opponent is recovering from an offensive strike that he/she initiated. THAT is the time to strike. If you're approaching it fists up and flailing, you're going about it all wrong. You've got to pick your spots, and seizing that split-second moment of weakness is the key to victory.

Class dismissed.

Simply the best, so far. DOA2 doesn't even hold a candle for the true "hardcore" fight-game people. 30+ characters, 100's of moves. If you are just a casual fight-game gamer, you may want to try DOA2. TTT (Tekken Tag Tournament) is for those who truly enjoy the mastery of the button combination combo sets and grapples that's made some of the best fight games around.

In addition to that, the graphics are awesome. Not only are the characters great, but the backgrounds are what truly shows off the PS2 power. The people working, practicing, and just standing around cheering for you are no longer just 2D blah figures. They look great and the surroundings as well.

A must for the hardcore fight-game gamers library.

I got this because i needed it for my dad's suv. Every year we go on a few long trip vacations that take a long time to get to. I needed something to do in the car, so i wanted to bring my PS2. This Game inverter is awesome. Nothing bad has ever happened to it before. It goes on as long as you want it to. (It would be best if you had a built in DVD player in your car like i do) As i said before, there couldn't be a better game inverter. It works perfectly.

So far this product has been working well.

It does require some space for the heat to blow out, and the fan seem to constantly run.

But, the 12-volt pass through works even if the inverter is off, which is great.

I'm reviewing the collectors version (limited edition), so my review is based more on this, than the actual game.

I bought Gears of War Limited edition when it first came out (1), it was nice, came in a tin, and was really something special. With other collectors editions that have come out since, The original gears still fares pretty well in comparison.

Gears 2 (as with everything related to this game) is bigger, and better.

This has some of the coolest packaging I have seen thus far.

When you pick up this game, you will first be impressed by the sheer weight, this sucker is heavy. When you remove the slipcase your greeted to a box holding the items, when you take them out, you get the artbook (which comes with a picture --the picture you see in the game of doms wife--) and the game case.

Now, I have to say, I wasn't impressed with this artbook. I do some 3d work, and love Epic games more than anything. But this artbook is very weak. It was a big letdown for me. There is a book you can buy which features the art from 1, so beautifully, I treasure it and display it proudly on my desk. D'ARTISTE CHARACTER MODELING 2 If your a fan, and also enjoy making games, I highly recommend it. It is high priced, and not currently for sale here, but the printing and everything is very high quality.

The picture that is included is very low quality too. I guess it looks the same as it does in the game, but why bother?

On to the good stuff.

After you look at the artbook you see a nice shiny case housing your gears of war 2 dvds. This case is very similar to the halo 2 collectors edition case, and I love it. Even if this game (LE) had nothing else going for it, the case alone is worth the extra price for me. Rarely does a case give off such a cool and impressive vibe, as this one case does!

You also have a bonus disc inside, which has some interesting features on it (similar to the bonus disc from Gears 1)

You also get a golden lancer (not a big deal, its only a golden lancer).

All in all, considering the price is 10 dollars more than the standard. I highly recommend it.

This is a wonderful game. How the graphics can be improved so greatly is beyond me. Gears 1 is still a beautiful game, a game I love replaying. Gears 2 is much much better. Some of the gameplay is harder, the level designs are "epic", and the graphics and lighting, wow, the graphics and lighting, they take your breathe away.

I played the campaign all the way through twice now. And I can honestly say, its the best behind the back third person shooter of the year.

The online multiplayer is addictive, and very strategy based. You cant just run out and start blasting, if you do, you will die. COD this is not. This is more akin to counterstrike, because when you die, you are dead. You do not come back until the next round. The game also encourages you to stick with your teammates so that you can revive each other and stick around longer.

The AI is not cheap, your teammates are sometimes ignored in favor of the badguys going after you, but it is no where near as bad as Resistance 2 for the ps3. All in all this is a good game, and the Limited Edition only enhances that.

By far, the coolest mode for this game is horde mode. On this mode, you and some buddies can go crazy taking on "hordes" of baddies on a level by level basis. If you have played some fighting games before, its like a survival mode. You keep going as long as you can, you have to stick together, and play this very strategically. The multiplayer in this game will not get old. It is so good, and encourages you to replay the game countless times.

I must warn you. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME USED. If you buy gears used, you will not get access to the flashback maps, which are 5 maps redone using the new engine. You get these free when you buy the game new (and the codes are not used). So be careful and take notice.

This game is easily worth the price of admission, and if you look at the current price of gears 1, used or new, you will see that the price did not get much below 30 dollars on the used marketplace (standard version), the collectors edition still holds its value today. It is worth your investment to get it new, there is no need to hold off on buying it.

I encourage parents to NOT buy this game used, as your loved ones will be unable to experience the game to its fullest potential. And again, the Limited edition IS a worthwhile upgrade.

Also, if you have not yet, I recommend playing Gears 1 again, the achievements you unlock on 1, relate to what characters you can unlock on gears 2 for online play. Specifically, you want to beat the game on hardcore mode, so you can get RAAM on multiplayer. If not, at least play normal, and you can unlock everybody but RAAM.

I got this about a week ago(through a friend who works at an electronics store) and I don't know where to begin on how great of a game this is. Gameplay is flawless as of now, I'm hoping the hackers don't get out and destroy the gameplay with hacks and glitches like what happened with Gears Of War 1. (If you're unfamiliar Gears 1's biggest problem was there was a lot of glitches and host advantage was horrible). The game modes in this are a lot of fun, Horde was a really good idea and is very fun with a couple other people. I must admit Campaign is MUCH more fun when playing on co-op than it is on single player. The achievement list doesn't seem nearly as tough as gears 1, but there is a wide variety of achievements that will take some time to get.

Online is great, no lag as of yet, no glitches as of yet, and nobody hacking as of yet. The unlockables are also really nice, the more game progress you make the more multiplayer characters you unlock and if you defeated Gen. Raam in Gears 1 you will have him unlocked on Gears 2.

I was very impressed by the amount of effort put in to make Halo 3, but I think this actually has more features, smoother gameplay, better graphics, and the plot is more fun. Not to mention Halo is very hard to play online unless you are experienced, gears isn't like that. My friend came over and played online with no problem even though he never played it before. This is one of the only games I rank above Halo. I wasn't a big Halo fan, but I thought the amount of effort put in to creat Halo was amazing and the same goes for Gears 2.

As for Cons, you cannot play as a guest in an online ranked match, only private matches. Meaning if you have a firend over, that person must have a memory card, with his profile on it and an Xbox Live Gold account attached to it. But you can play private matches with guests and friends. Another con is there is no Unranked online mode, which doesn't effect me much...I just wish they had it and allowed guest play like on Gears 1. The graphics are great and are improved from Gears 1 but there still isn't a ton of color in the game.

This is definitely a must have game for anyone who ownes a 360. I definitely suggest picking up a copy if you're debating.

Best Deals for Gears of War 2 Limited Edition -Xbox 360

Bigger, Better, Badder and more boring (somehow).

Everything you could hope for in Gears since the amazing ride that was part 1 is all up in this game, including but not limited to your old squad mates from part 1 and new characters made to die in this one.

Oh yeah .. I guess I should have lead in that last part with SPOILER ALERT.

But shockingly that isn't what held up the game. The game actually takes a dip when about 3 quarters of it feels like its underground not looking to win the war but looking for love, and definitely in the wrong place and especially for all the wrong reasons.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

The story takes a turn for the interesting just in-time to end .. and the finale is overwhelming --in how underwhelming it is.

Seriously .. something so awesome happens that you've probably thought about in passing from the first Gears of War and somehow they ruin that too.

I gave this game 4 stars because despite that they really brought the thunder on Multiplayer. Better controls, more melee action, MORE weapons. Fuller fresher graphics happens to be in effect. Better action pieces in the story. I love it -even the weather tries to murder you in this game with shards of glass raining down on you in the middle of a firefight!

PS If you have played and gained certain achievements from the first Gears this game will read those achievements and unlock surprise characters you can rock out as in Multiplayer.

With a 'dudebro' (term coined by the designer of the Gears franchise) game like this, you don't necessarily expect the story to have the punch that this one packs at the end. It's funny to think that most games of this ilk (shooters, either firstor third-person shooters) have you remembering the technical achievements (graphics, sound, level design, etc.) instead of the story. For the story to be the first thing you think of, especially with the level of technical and artistic mastery present in this game is telling.

Second in series from Aksys games, this is actually a prequel to 2010's Agarest War, though no knowledge of the first is needed. That game had a rather troubled existence and bungled release depending on which console you used or were willing to pay for imports. This time we're all on the same page at least, and it's good to see that Aksys pieced everything together properly. This 3-star review is from a feeling of being completely underwhelmed, and in no way do I mean to imply that as a fan of things in-genre that I regret my purchase or didn't like it/have fun.

The premise here is, for all intents and purposes, the same as the original-a rather epic (in length) adventuring campaign with a sizable cast of quirky characters and villains that spans generational gaps. This is achieved via the offspring of the original protagonist, and you get some ability to mold through your actions. Good versus evil, light versus dark, all that good stuff. Character offspring is the "hook" to the Agarest series, where decisions made in dialogue raise and lower virtual affection levels of heroines in a way akin to a stereotypical Japanese dating sim. Awkward for some players, certainly, but there are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers. The story progression is mostly the same regardless (see below), so just enjoy.

The other major selling point on the series, for better or worse, is a rather intricate battlefield system that will certainly cause some head-scratching amongst new players. The basic JRPG phase/turn system is mixed up with action points and varying action combinations. Team tactics play a large roll and using combined skills of all types add extra damage that's an absolute must as things get harder. There are ~150 skill combinations in total and over about a hundred abilities to learn, where every character can use a different set. It requires thought, forces the player to think ahead, and unless in a situation where facing very weak foes at high levels there's no one simple way to complete a fight... so no real slacking off allowed.

The learning curve isn't bad on standard difficulty, but that's partially because of the massively high number of total battles. There's the oft-inept "auto" battle mode, which is supposed to give the player a break on the easier stuff, but it's impossible to properly express the stupidity of the AI and it rarely saves any time and/or effort.

Here stands a large point of contention for me at least-even though the hope is for combat to never really be entirely the same and for players to use all sorts of fancy attacks, it all feels so, so familiar as you move ahead. Drone-like, in fact. As you'll be fighting hundreds of times against what are essentially the same 20 types of baddie, it can become very draining. The sensation of "can we get on with the story now?" can become overwhelming at times. For players of the first, the combat system is almost completely unchanged and has only a few minor tweaks. Nothing particularly needed a "fix", so in that regard everything still works fine.

A minor reward from all the combat is that story scenes are fairly lengthy, are all fully-voiced (though in Japanese only), the narrative at least somewhat compelling (by video game standards), and characters develop some actual personality. The overhead world view is a rather nostalgic 2D wandering, and the moving character models in 'cutscenes' are still a major throwback to the 16-bit days and I find it rather endearing, even if astonishingly outdated and limited by the studio's production budget.

Another now-heavily recycled piece of the game is the equipment and upgrade/synthesis type. It's tried and true over several games now, and though there's nothing wrong with the user-friendly upgrading system, some kind of innovation or variation would be desperately welcomed. The interface is bland, items are notoriously hard to find materials for, and names of weapons and armor are a near copy-paste from the past.

Add things up and the end result is almost exactly that of the first Agarest with zero fundamental changes, and only a handful of surface adjustments. The sheer length of the game exasperates this all, though it does make the game a pretty good value assuming at least one play of 40+ hours. I'm not per say disappointed, but I may have hoped for more. Zero is by no means a "bad" game for RPG or strategy buffs, but it lacks a spark of something that would help to call it truly "special".

For anyone that enjoyed the first, there's no specific reason why they should stay away from Zero, at least if they know to expect virtually the same game with new scripts and fonts. For new players, it's a strategy challenge and a game where one full run through the storyline could feel rewarding, but split up your sessions. Going back to the "dating" bit from before-though it's not like you can't finish the game if you choose certain options, just playing on normal mode without much extra thought gives, well, a really lousy ending, and the assumption is that you'll start a NewGame+ on "Extra" (difficult) for the more eventful stuff. This isn't new for JRPGs, but you're left flying blind here most of the time.

I basically love everything by this developer including any recycled mechanics and the implication that you will need to replay the game to get the true end. I prefer cross edge honestly, but overall this is a solid game. I am dissapointed that they did not add more from the first game, and the battle system gets repetitive if you overlevel. The review below goes into more detail, but it is a solid srpg that focuses on extending attacks by placing party members in certain poximate patterns. If you want, you can subtract a star for admitted fan effect.

This is a great and very long strategy RPG with turn based combat. The enemies are varied, well, at least their colors look different for the various levels of the same monster, and that is nice. Battles also use different types of enemies, making the battles a little different each time. In combat, the first phase is move and the second is battle. However, characters and monsters will move in the second phase to use their abilities.

POINT SYSTEMS

XP = Experience points needed to level up, fight battles to get them based on the monsters

AP = Action points for movement and skills, character specific and can be enhanced with items

EP = Enhancement points used to upgrade equipment, given from battles based on the monster

TP = Tech points needed to purchase items from the Adventurer's Guild, given from battles based on maximum hit count

PP = Party points may be used to train any character's stats, given mainly from events

S-slots = Special slots on armor and enhancement items, convert other items to get these bonuses, examples STR+12, AGI+17. These do not affect level up.

Learning how best to use Extended Areas is crucial as this allows many characters, up to six, to gang up on an enemy. Also important is getting Overkills in order to get the best drops from the enemies. The Tutorials do well to explain these things but it is up to the player to become proficient with them.

Character development is a big part of the game. I like performing character development. I usually train Vitality for about 10 levels on all characters to increase their Health per level. Using Party Points, PP, helps in this regard. I concentrate on about six characters. Eventually all characters need to be levelled, however.

Creating a character is somewhat confusing. You choose five soul cards with two souls per card and a class (Warrior, Battle Mage, Sorcerer). You also choose your attack types. For those, I always go with Power-Power Light-Extra. The last two skills will not become available until level 45 when characters make a class upgrade.

Some people create a really great 1st Generation character only to find their 2nd Generation character is cruddy. Here are some insights on how this works:

Choosing Soul Cards at the beginning of the game will give the character 10 souls. Class choice adds 15 more souls, and special Event choices during the game will add a few more souls. Then, choice of bride will mix things up and give a 2nd Generation character. However, you get what you get, there area no soul card choices for 2nd Generation (or 3rd). If you choose the following cards you will get a great 1st Generation Battle Mage: 5, 24, 2, 19, 8. This will give the following stats and rankings: STR 16-B, VIT 10-A, AGI 16-B, INT 16-A, LUK 20-A, AP 17, MOV 4, weapon Sword. This will create a great 1st Generation character HOWEVER it will make a HORRIBLE 2nd Generation character!!! That is because this character has too many Dagger, Spear, Knuckle and other junky weapons (unless you like knuckle or dagger) and will also give horrible stats and rankings in STR and VIT no matter who you marry for 2nd Generation.

Instead, go with this: Cards 1, 5, 12, 21, 23, stats and rankings = STR 13-A, VIT 13-A, AGI 13-C, INT 11-C, LUK 13-B, AP 17, MOV 3, weapon Sword, as well as lots of Sword souls. The lower AGI can be overcome just by training. If you marry a certain warrior in 1st Generation, your 2nd Generation character will have S-S in STR-VIT and use Sword! The other stat areas are not too bad, either. Picking up another Gun, Dagger or Spear helps AGI, as well. Having a 4 MOV on the main character is a luxury not often needed. The AP is still 17, and that is nice! Also, equipment upgrades make more of an impact on attack, magic attack, and defense. Characters also get AP from equipment upgrades.

Training your stat areas is important in the long run, but in the short run Item Upgrades are far more useful. A warrior should not be training INT, anyway! As for Sorcerer, I was not able to make a 1st Generation Sorcerer that can use Staff, you get Scythe, instead. However, marrying the Mage girl, as a Sorcerer, will give a Mage for 2nd Generation, either with Staff or even Sword & Staff.

The game dialogue is in Japanese, but there are English translation dialogue boxes to read for the events. Frankly, I did not mind the language, I don't know Japanese, but it was no big deal to me.

While the story kept me to the end I was bored with the fight sequences as I ended up pulling the same moves over and over.
