To make up for the lack of proper feedback on this game, I'll offer my best stab at a comprehensive review for the Atari / WayForward Technologies take on the classic arcade game with Centipede Infestation. In a short summary, for those gamers who like twitch-style twin stick shooters (Robotron, Smash TV, and the more recent Geometry Wars) with simple and intuitive gameplay, along with some good co-op, then you will find plenty to like in this now budget priced game.

For my in-depth review, I will look at the four major points of any video game, which would be Story, Gameplay, Graphics and Sound, and Replay / Fun Factor (ala Gamepro, RIP...)

STORY: While this game won't win any awards for its narrative, it does have a simple and workable premise that is built up along the various gameplay missions. Set in a post apocalyptic, war torn world, that is now overrun with mutated bugs of all shapes and sizes, you play the role of Max, bug killer extraordinaire, who happens upon a lady named Maisy, who is tending to the last gardens in the wastelands of the world.

Between each stage, the story is told through either anime-like cut scenes, or the more common still-frame animation dialogue exchanges between Max and Maisy, as we find out little by little more about the world they live in, their backgrounds, and their solutions to the problems they face.

It's completely innocuous, however it does give some minor incentive to see what happens next, as you tread from one battleground to the next.

GAMEPLAY: To reiterate my brief summary above, this is a twin stick shooter (when played with the Classic Controller, highly recommended) where you move around your environment in an isometric third person perspective, and take aim at anything that creeps, jumps, or flies your way. Each stage is set in a battleground (either fixed or semi-dynamic), where enemies spawn at regular intervals. There are a large variety of enemies to tango with, including the classic centipede enemies, which will spawn the trademark mushrooms upon their demise.

To give you an edge in the competition, spiders will drop down to offer power ups upon their destruction, which can be one of a dozen weapon power ups, or simple temporary modifiers like enhanced defense or increased movement speed. In regards to the weapons, you can hold up to four different types (flamethrowers, machine guns, laser beams, just to name a few), which can be used at any time by the press of a button, and will last for a short duration (or when you take damage). Any weapon can be upgraded to a more destructive version by collecting two of the same power up types, so it offers up some simple strategy as to when to best use your arsenal.

You are also given access to a stomp move, which will kill or at least knock back all the bugs in a set radius, a pseudo smart bomb if you will. This stomp will recharge over time, adding another simple layer of strategy.

A final notch of strategy are the seeds that will drop from select bug enemies, which will be mushrooms (which can either help or hinder), or more importantly stationary turret guns with a specific power up ability. These turrets will stay up for as long as they are defended, giving you both extra firepower and a distraction for the waves of bugs. Whether or not you wish to stay and defend these towers, or go off looking for more power ups, is a common choice you'll make when playing the game.

As for the mission objectives, basically you have to kill all the bugs in the stage before you move onto the next. Sometimes you will progress from section to section of the battleground, sometimes you will have to defend Maisy, and other times you will have to power on local generators (by using your stomp move, which makes absolutely no sense), but these are minor ascetics added onto the general bug eradication directive.

By the way, all the mission levels can be played co-op with another gunner, which works just as well as you would expect, and is recommended if you have the option.

GRAPHICS AND SOUND: For this kind of game, this category should have very little weight into your buying decision, but I can say that the quality of both aspects are at worst serviceable, and at best clean and attractive, but not outstanding. The environments, enemies and characters are all modeled well, though the detail involved is minimal. The sound effects and techno heavy soundtracks are pleasant and harmless, and they do a good job of adding to the experience. The still cutscenes are pretty basic and bland, but the voice actors enhance the experience. The game features widescreen and 480p output, and runs at a steady framerate throughout all the action (a necessity for this genre).

REPLAY / FUN FACTOR: After you have cleared all the missions (which there are about 40 of them), the only incentives you have to go back and experience them again are to get the gold medals for each stage (which is medal awards are based upon the number of hits you take), to fill out the achievements (don't lose a single tower, stomp 25 bugs in a stage, etc.), compete for the perennial high store, or play the game again on the Insane difficulty setting.

Once you've completed the game, achieve all the gold medals and checked off every achievement, there is little reason to boot up the game, though that alone should be enough content to keep you busy for 8-10 hours, not to mention the co-op mode to expand its lifetime. Personally I'd give the replay value a score of average / moderate, but that all depends on what makes you tick as a gamer.

It should be noted that the game is not entirely challenging as retro-junkies would have hoped, though this does open the experience as a more enjoyable and accessible package overall (especially in co-op). Designed around shorter game playing sessions, each 4-5 minute stage is fast-paced and engaging, especially the boss stages (which there are five evenly spaced throughout), which just about anyone can enjoy and is always a simple, pure pleasure. Blasting the various vermin is satisfying and primal, and using the various weapon power ups will put a child-like grin on your face as you mow down the waves of targets. That is what arcade games should be about, pure entertainment, plain and simple, and Infestation delivers on that front.

FINAL WORD: If this game costs $20-30 bucks, I would not recommend it as highly, as the lack of content would not justify the price tag. For the $10-15 price you can get it for now (and even cheaper used if you STOP at certain GAME retailers, hint hint), it is definitely worth the cost. Great gameplay with subtle strategies, a decent amount of content and replay value, coupled with an excellent co-op mode and a budget price, earn Centipede Infestation a 4.5 (rounded down to 4 for Amazon) star rating in my book.

It is a nice remake for the classic Centipede. Atari could have done een a better job on its visuals and introductory scenes... but... they aren't really that nice to their consumers, after all. Great graphics and, well, for the kind of game that it is, we can/could expect more, but it is a nice game.

As an avid fan of the original, which I played fanatically on both my Atari 2600 and my high school girlfriends fathers full size stand up arcade game, I found this to be a resonable interpretation/moderization of that game. Gameplay is interesting and provides a challange without feeling overwhelming.

The unfortunate part about this game is I have yet to play it!!!!!! So frustrating been baby-sitting and spring cleaning. Baby-sitting is over. Spring cleanup is still in full blown mode. Maybe by next week I will have a chance.

The Guitar Hero series has quickly become the premiere rhythm based gaming franchise, and with Activision now publishing the series, prepare for a yearly blitz of Guitar Hero games. Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's, compiles thirty songs from said decade. Many bands and group from the era; ranging from hair metal smashes like Poison and Ratt to legendary metal pioneers Iron Maiden and Anthrax, are featured here, along with songs from Asia, Twisted Sister, the Dead Kennedys, and Skid Row to boot. While many of the songs are incredibly fun to play, Guitar Hero Encore suffers from the fact that there isn't anything here that you haven't seen before. Combine this with the fact that the game is selling for the full list price and only features thirty songs with basically nothing else new, and you get one disappointing overall package. There's no unlockable tracks either, and some of the featured songs (like cuts from White Lion and Faster Pussycat) could have been done without. All in all, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's isn't bad one bit and offers a decent amount of fun for veteran players of the series, but the game is a disappointing quick cash-in attempt that doesn't offer enough bang for your buck to warrant the price tag.

As a big Guitar Hero fan (I own the previous two installments) I was very excited that Red Octane was making an 80s version for us children of the 80s. Oddly enough, I didn't hear about it until literally the week before while doing some random research; it appeared as though Red Octane was barely advertising this and I think that was mistake no. 1.

Rock the 80s has a diverse track list that many a child of the 80s can enjoy. I personally enjoyed I Ran(So Far Away) by A Flock of Seagulls and Radar Love and my buddies got a kick out of Turning Japanese. However, that is where the fun ends. I bought it three hours ago and already I earned everything. As an encore I'm not surprised that Red Octane changed very little of the gameplay from Guitar Hero II but it seems as though they left out all the good stuff.

You can only purchase one additional character (Grim Reaper) so the other bonus characters are gone. This is sad as several of my buddies played exclusively as certain bonus characters. They also took out the bonus track section severely limiting songs. Red Octane barely edited the loading screen advice leaving most of the advice from Guitar Hero II on there.

On a few plus sides, I'm glad they kept co-op mode and many of the bonus guitars. I also wish they would've chosen better songs from certain groups (I think We're Not Gonna Take It would've been a better choice by Twisted Sister) but this is a criticism I have of the other Guitar Hero games.

Overall, I'm glad I waited in line to purchase Rock the 80s as I loved playing songs from my childhood but this could've been done a lot better with better bonus materials and less Guitar Hero II look-a-like but I should have expected as much when I saw "encore" under the title. An 85% overall with massive room for improvement.

Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks The 80s as a sequel to GH and GHII doesn't really measure up. It's still a fun game, mostly for people who grew up in the 80s like myself, but overall it really adds nothing new to the series. While GHII evolved the game quite a bit adding new multiplayer options and updating the hammer-on and pull-off functionality to make it more usable GH80s does nothing other than add a few new tunes to the mix. Barring a few tweaks the graphics are mostly the same throughout and the engine also remains the same. Apparently there are no plans to put this version of the game onto the XBOX 360.

Overall the songs are a lot easier to play through all difficulties with the exception of certain ones like Seventeen and Play With Me. For those who had a hard time progressing past the Medium difficulty this might be the right version of GH for you to break into Hard or even Expert. The songs themselves sound pretty decent overall and there are no glaringly bad vocal covers.

Songs by the original artists are:

"I Ran (So Far Away)" A Flock of Seagulls

"Because, It's Midnite" Limozeen

"The Warrior" Scandal

"I Wanna Rock" Twisted Sister

"Electric Eye" Judas Priest

This will be the last GH game from Harmonix as they move on to do Rock Band. GHIII will be developed by Neversoft Entertainment.

Honest reviews on Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's - PlayStation 2

If this game cost me $25, it would be the greatest game ever. I would love it for hours, I would master every single song on it, and I would be very, very happy.

It costs $50.

There are only 30 songs, no bonuses, no quirks, no unlockables to speak of. It's Guitar Hero 2 bonus tracks with a palette swap.

That being said, I really love the songs. I am a huge fan of 80s music, especially the ever present metal.

If they ever plan on doing something like this again, they need to do three things.

First off, they need to either reduce the price or put in more effort. $50 is a lot for a game, and if I pay it, I expect an actual game, not just an expansion pack.

Second, they need to do playtesting on it a lot more. No, I don't just mean put in more effort, I mean... it skips, it jumps, it's awful. Many songs are unplayable because of the skips.

Third, they need to do more than just make songs more difficult. This version is *much* harder than Guitar Hero 2, and to a certain extent, as someone who plays exclusively on expert, that's a good thing, but even though I would kill for an Yngwie Malmsteen track on one of them, I have to confess, enough is enough. If you play on expert, expect endless triple chords and transitions from the first song. If you play on easier difficulties, expect it to be so easy that you will scream.

The price of the game $40-50 is too high for only 30 songs. But had those 30 songs been real gems of the 80's I could have forgiven the price and reveled in my teen years.

However, despite a couple of good 80's songs, the most loved of all the 80's bands were completely ignored and left out! I understand they have to pay for rights to these songs, but with as many copies as they sell and as high as they are charging, they owe us some decent 80's music. This is not a tribute to the 80's, it's a desperate attempt to throw us some cheap music for high profits.

I was a teen in the 80's and listened to rock for 18 hours per day. I've never heard of many of the songs on the tracks. I've never heard of some of the bands on the list!

Where are Bryan Adams, Pat Benetar, Prince, ZZ-top, Van Halen, Run DMC, Wham, Duran Duran, Springsteen, Def Leppard, Dire Straits, Guns N' Roses, and 90 others I could list that top most of the artists on this edition.

A huge disappointment. I would pay 50 per month for a new version if they had decent music on it.

Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge is pretty much the best rugby game ever made till this day it's simply that damn good. Featuring a nice amount of international teams, Rugby Challenge doesn't go light on the content front as the modes are engaging and the game is just filled with detail and sheer enjoyment due to how the smooth it plays.

Controls are responsive and don't take too long to master.

The graphics and animations do an excellent job of conveying a sense of realism to the game.

Having licensed teams such as the New Zealand All Blacks is a terrific addition.

Presentation is top notch and getting replays on key moments is greatly appreciated.

Its Just great that Mad Catz decided to bring this game to the United State, It an Must buy for any rugby fan Out there.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program "Subdue and penetrate"--Motto of the New Zealand All-Blacks Rugby Team.

I was only passingly familiar with Rugby when I got my hands on Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge, but I had played a lot of sports games so I thought I would give it a try. I was happily surprised by the addictive gameplay, intuitive controls, and just plain fun that Rugby Challenge offers. If you don't know much about Rugby, imagine the violent unholy lovechild of a marriage between football and soccer. It's football without the armor. It's soccer with full-speed tackling. It's pretty awesome.

If you are familiar with xbox sports games, you will probably be able to skip the tutorials and dive right in. However, if you are not familiar with Rugby there is a lot to be gleaned from the tutorial levels. The tutorials are broken into basic, intermediate, advanced, and professional tiers, each with about 6-8 skills. These skills range from moving the ball down the field to rather complicated manuevers like rucks, scrums, and onside tossing. Unfamiliar with the basics of Rugby? The tutorials are also very useful for giving you a decent vocabulary and solid grasp for the mechanics of the game.

There are several game modes: single game, career, and multiplayer.

The single game allows you to select 2 teams and play as one of them against an AI opponent. Many rugby teams from around the world are assigned a score (100 point scale). I can't speak to the completeness of the offering, but I did find a lot of teams to choose between. I found this mode particularly useful to transition between tutorial and career because I could select a fairly robust team for myself (Crimson) and lesser team for the AI (Praetoria) and have a little wiggle room to try out what I learned in the tutorial. This wiggle room is not present in career on "normal"--it is a very challenging game.

The career mode starts you out as nobody and lets you rise to the ranks of superstar, if you're good. You'll need quick reflexes to beat a fairly smart AI. Theere are a few times when you want to shout at your AI teamates to get into a better position, or catch the ball, but for the most part friendly AI works well. There are no scripted "plays" or selcted offensive/defensive moves to assign to your team. Rugby involves a lot of tackling and short kicks to move the ball down field. As you earn money through your successes, you can unlock photos and features through an in-game shop.

Multiplayer works well. Finding a match was not a problem. Rugby Challenge should be well received in Europe (where Rugby is more popular), so I would think there will be a robust long-term community that builds up around this game.

I am not one to play a game with clunky or confusing controls (there are way too many great games out there): Rugby Challenge offers intuitive controls that let a newbie have fun immediately and at the same times gives players a deep experience that will challenge veterans for many hours of play.

The graphics are solid. I would say they are maybe not quite as glamorous as the latest Madden, but they are great looking locations, detailed stadiums, detailed players, neat presentation works well.

SUMMARY:

Whether you are new to Rugby or grew up playing it, Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge offers something to all fans of sports games. I rate this game 5-stars for "Fun" (very addicting, well paced game play). Overall I gave the game 4 stars because Rugby Challenge does lack some of the precise polish of major sports games. Additionally the lack of plays to call can also make coordinating your team a bit frustrating.

Best Deals for Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge - Xbox 360

I have only had this game for a little over 24 hours but I can say without a doubt that the developers have hit a homerun. It is so frustrating being a rugby fan in the United States because the availability for titles like this one are so limited. I finally got my hands on this game and it did not disappoint. The gameplay is fantastic, I love the trailing camera where it feels like you are in the line. I really think it is a huge imporvement over the old fashioned sideline camera. All the great teams are in it; the only teams and country that are not licensed is South Africa and their Super Rugby teams. As a southern hemisphere fan this should be the only title you pick up because on the other rugby game you can not play as the real All Black or Wallabies. The only problem I have with the game and why I gave it 4 stars is the passing can be glitchy at times. It seems like sometimes I need to push the pass button more than required.

UPDATE: I found many more flaws with this game. The game play is simply not very realistic in regards to real rugby. I also find the career mode to be terribly boring after one season; you are given no opportunities to act like a true coach and add players, make plays etc.

Honest reviews on Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge - Xbox 360

If this tackling was used in an american football video game it would not sell. The fact that it is an up to date rugby game is the best part of it. The game play is pretty bad, unrealistic passes, and the tackling is horrible. I was stocked when the game came in but after playing it, buying it for $60 is WAY to much. It is 2012, make a better game play rugby game. I'm ready to sell mine.

Folks just don't seem to like the graphics at all. I will probably end up reselling this game. Don't think it will be missed at all.

I am in the army in Japan right now and I have played DBZ Budokai 3 and let me tell you, it's awsome. It hasa similar story mode to the Budokai 1 and the same graphics as Budokai 2 and it also has some extra modes that i have no idea what they are because the're in Japanese but they are prety cool and there is one mode where you can make your own melee or ki attack in which you can choose the color of the beam which character knows it how strong it is and all sorts of stuff and the characters include Goku,Vegeta,Kid Gohan,Teen Gohan,Adult Gohan,Kid trunks,Teen Trunks,Adult Trunks,Kid Goten,Teen Goten,Vegeto,Gogeta,Gotenks,Picollo,Krillin,Tien,Yamcha,Videl,Hurcule,Great Saiyaman,Supreme Kai,Raditz,Nappa, everyone in the ginyu force, all forms of frieza,DR, Gero, Android 16,17,18,19, al forms of cell, cell junior,Garlic junior, salt, pepper, mustard, ketchup, all forms of buu, baby, and more that i forgot their names. But overall this game is the best DBZ game to ever come out so far so get this game!

Of all the Dragon Ball Z fighting games the Budokai series has always been easily the best. With simple responsive controls and fast paced action, and of course the crazy energy attacks, this stands above the first two as the best of the lot.

The story mode is vastly improved over last years title in that it not only follows the story, but allows you to develop your character (limited to the main Z hero's not villians or hidden) and unlock all sorts of hidden goodies as well as the natural progression of attacks and skills. The difficulty in story mode of course fluctuates and some times forces you to take time to strengthen your character (at randomly placed Battle Zones which range from Saibamen to Meta Cooler). Also at certain points in story mode (usually the second + time through with a certain character) you can sometimes branch away from the saga and do a movie battle of sorts (after you beat Frieza the first time but before Goku goes Super Sayin you can face off against Cooler instead). However this leads to complaint #1. During the key story moments instead of a cool cutscene we get this almost story book form instead that is really uncool.

The controls are identical with a few new improvements. The first is in order to make the action faster you can teleport behind your foe and hit but only if he attacks you first (a counter basically) as well go into hyper mode (all energy at once) which then allows you to unleash your most devastating attacks, which leads me to complaint #2. When doing the ultimate attacks it's either fastly speeding bar which is fairly inaccurate when you click to max it out or a 3 stage attack which increases the odds of you foe succeeding using the X O /\ or []. Most of the time despite being cool and powerful it's more of a pain to unleash than it should be.

Graphically it looks like last years model so if you liked the cell shading great if not tough.

The Voiceovers are great as expected, I found no problems with any of the voices while playing. However the Music is complaint #3. The music is Atari custome midi with little (and I mean very little) to none of the great american tracks that most fans who watch the series state side (not the imported Japanese) get to listen too. So at moments like when Goku first goes Super Sayin 3 it would be great to hear that track from that moment in the series playing. Or any big Vegeta fight have his theme going on.

Despite some of the shortcomings this is truely is a great game worth playing. It easlily destroys the past games and overall is worth picking up. I still say that this is what a 3D streetfighter should be like (or maybe more like the Recent Mortal Kombats it's hard to say).

Best Deals for Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 - PlayStation 2

Over the years, Akira Toriyama and the crew have been trying to please the fans. Atari and Dimps worked together to create Dragonball Z Budokai. The story was alright and while it was out for the Playstation 2, they were going to make a Gamecube version with better graphics. Next in the Budokai series came Dragonball Z Budokai 2. New characters, new moves, and a new kind of story mode. As we all know, the story mode for Dragonball Z Budokai 2 really sucked because it was like you were playing a board game rather than a fighting game. The only cool aspect about it was Vegito. Sadly, Budokai 2 lost the ability to destroy the arena like in the original Dragonball Z Budokai. But that was from the past to the present. Here we are, up to speed on the future as every Dragonball Z gamer counts down to what every DBZ gamer wants to see in a DBZ fighting game for the PS2. Presenting, Dragonball Z Budokai 3! This will assure you that maybe all hope wasn't lost after Budokai 2. You get to fly whenever you want, teleport counter behind foes, transform to SSJ4/Super Saiyan 4 & use a new technique called Dragon Rush which lets you give major damage to an enemy while enjoying the cinematics of the movie-style fighting sequence which is definitely made with possible counter-attacks. Furthermore, let's say if one guy plays as SSJ4 Goku and the other plays as SSJ4 Vegeta. If both players launch a regular beam such as 10X Kamehameha and Final Shine Attack, the beams will push against each other until one of them dominates the other with the analog stick making it just like the cartoon with a nice touch of cel-shaded graphics. And for those of you wondering, yes Broly is included along with DBGT, other DBZ movie and Budokai and Budokai 2 characters. Fans, this is definitely a game worth it's cash. Don't waste your time just reading this over and over again. One time should tell you that this is a must-buy DBZ game so get it as soon as you can because sales are gonna go out fast!

Honest reviews on Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 - PlayStation 2

To start with, the graphics of the game will remain cel-shaded as in budokai2. This game will contain more than 40 playable characters including all the characters in budokai 1+2 plus Broly(normal form,ss1,Ultra ss), Baby, Cooler(and Meta-Cooler), all the three forms of cell and Frieza and Buu, also Gogeta (ss1,2,4), Vegeta(ss1,2,4), Gogu(ss1,2,3,4) and many others.

Also, there will be a mode called Dragon road in which you can customise your character`s attack, defence and other...

The story mode will be available.

Also, the aura of the characters has dramatically improved and the characters can use teleportation. That is, characters can be teleported behind their enemy avoiding his attack. The teleportation can also be used in the world tournament to avoid getting out of the arena.

I am not sure that freeflight would be available.

This game is going to be great and i would buy it as soon as it comes out!!!!

Three's the charm in this case. I haven't yet played this game, but I have learned that they brought back story mode, however I have no idea what sagas it covers. I think Dragon World is still there but it is no longer a main mode. Of course there still is duel mode which features improved new attacks, much better aura, improved gameplay, and more characters than ever. Such as: Goku,Kid Gohan, Teen Gohan,Adult Gohan,Great Saiyaman,Goten,Teen Goten,Vegeta,Young Trunks,Teen Trunks,Tein,Yamcha,Chosue,Piccolo,Krillian,Raditz,Nappa,Dodoria,Zarbon, Guldo,Recoome,Burter,Jeice,Captain Ginyu,Freeza,King Cold,Dr.Gero,Andriod 16,17,18,19,Cell Jr.s,Cell,Saibamen,Pikkon,Videl,Hercule,Dabura,Majin Buu,Evil Buu,Super Buu,Kid Buu,Broly,Cooler,Bardock,King Vegeta,Garlic Jr.,all the Spice Boys, and some GT characters.

Tournament mode has been tweaked, and other modes have been added.Babidi's Spaceship has been eliminated. In one of the new modes you can customise your characters energy, stregth, speed, and so on. So far Budokai 3 looks to be 5 times more complete than the first two combined. I will write a new preview when I find more significant information.

I can not stress enough how generally uninterested I am in games like Grand Theft Auto, Saints Row, and other sandbox style games in a big city. I find, too often, that I get bored quickly with what there is to do and sadly the stories lack anything to keep me interested. That said,, I should note I loved Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, and all of the sand boxing in the Assassin's Creed games. The stories and game mechanics are what get me more interested than anything else.

I expected this game to be as its peers in terms of having a relatively dull story, decent music, and fun guns/cars to play around with until I felt like I'd misspent my money. Sleeping Dogs, however, is absolutely phenomenal. I knew little about the game before I Redbox-ed it on a whim, but I was so incredibly impressed that I went out and bought it the following day. Few things these days are a release week purchase for me, especially games I had not anticipated buying or heard very little about. This game stands above and beyond its car jacking peers with a great story, tons of missions, and so many extra activities I'm not sure I'll be able to do them all.

Mechanically the game is an amalgam of an assortment of great titles. The gunplay is on par, if not smoother, with Uncharted; the brawling is as seamless as Arkham City or any of the Assassin's Creed games; and the driving is some of the best I have ever enjoyed, though I'm not much of a driving game player. The graphics are absolutely stunning and cutscenes are great! The texture quality is fantastic, and it's a game like this that stuns me completely that, visually especially, game designers are still able to do something better than the last new big thing on this generation's hardware!

I can not more highly recommend this game!

Sleeping Dogs is a game that almost never saw the light of day, which is shocking considering how good this game turned out. Starting life as Black Lotus, a new original IP from United Front Games, it starred a female protagonist and had a lot of potential. Then Activision came in and basically said, "Hey, United Front Games, we have this IP called True Crime, so why not take the core parts of Black Lotus and turn it into a True Crime game?", and thus, True Crime: Hong Kong was born. Showing a ton of potential, True Crime: Hong Kong came out swinging with positive press and gamer reactions, then Activision suddenly canceled it out of nowhere, because they said it couldn't compete with other games in the genre, couldn't sell as many units as they wanted, couldn't crack a specific Metacritic rating, and didn't meet the standard for Activision games, even though they put out Prototype 2 this year, which isn't nearly as good as Sleeping Dogs in any category. Activision has also put out games like Blood Drive and has a new mediocre Nascar game in the pipeline. Needless to say, Activision was making up a bunch of excuses, as if their whole catalog is some masterful thing, but they only have two games out of many which are selling well, and those are Call of Duty and Skylanders. Like Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero, Activision will drive those into the ground, if they haven't already. Anyways, after a bunch of upset gamers voiced their concerns on the internet, Square Enix came to save the day, which was the greatest thing to ever happen, as described by one Sleeping Dogs developer. Square Enix allowed the game to get more polish, better publicity via game trailers and commercials, and have shown the game respect, whereas Activision probably would've just let it out into the wild and let it fend for itself. Square Enix has really shown their desire to succeed in the western game market with fantastic titles like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Sleeping Dogs, and the upcoming Hitman: Absolution and Tomb Raider reboot.

Now onto the actual game.

Story, Voice Acting, Characters Sleeping Dogs has a lot of talent, all lending to the story, voice acting, and the cast of characters. In many pre-release trailers and previews, they pointed out Hollywood talent like Emma Stone, but just about everyone here contributes their voice talents to make the story and characters interesting and fully realized. While the story isn't original, it's done so well that originality isn't necessary. This is a game that knows what it wants to be and completely succeeds at it. This is a top notch production from beginning to end.

Graphics, Atmosphere Without a doubt, Sleeping Dogs is my favorite looking game of this kind. To compare, you have Grand Theft Auto IV and the Saints Row games, and I believe Sleeping Dogs is the most impressive looking of the bunch. While the map is smaller and surely allows for more details, it's those details that make the world feel like it's living and breathing, which adds to the overall atmosphere of this beautiful world that is yours to explore and discover all of the little secrets it has packed within it.

Driving, Shooting, Melee, Parkour The core gameplay in Sleeping Dogs offers a lot of variety. The driving is fun and arcade-like, so the handling is simple and intuitive, but it offers depth, like ramming your enemies off of the road or jumping from your car to another car and jacking it. The shooting is basic, so it doesn't offer much depth, but there is a bullet-time feature, a la Max Payne, which makes gun combat really fun, though it must be noted that gun combat is not the focus of the game. Now onto melee, which is the focus of the game, is similar to the combat in Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, meaning it's a ton of fun and pretty stylish. In addition, you can use context-sensitive environmental attacks, allowing you to shove an enemy's head in a fan, throw him in a dumpster, impale him on swordfish, etc. It's all handled pretty gracefully and flows together nicely. Now onto the parkour, which is a real blast. Your character can climb, jump, leap, etc., so your character has real agility and makes you feel like you can get away from any bad situation or chase after those who are trying to escape you.

If you can't already tell, I love Sleeping Dogs. There's some minor draw-in or pop-in when driving at fast speeds, and there may be some tiny little issues like any other game of this scale, but every single thing that's important to the game is spot-on. This is a finely crafted world with a story to keep you interested and the gameplay to keep you having fun. Don't let this dog sleep, get Sleeping Dogs ASAP.

I am admittedly a GTA fanboy. I play a lot of sandbox games, and I often enjoy them... but usually with the caveat "It's nowhere near as good as GTA, but it's still pretty good."

Well, Sleeping Dogs *is* nearly as good as GTA and that's saying a lot coming from me. Personally I think it's more similar to GTA IV than any other game. To many, that's an insult. From me, it's very high praise. The only real flaw I see here is that the driving is a tad wonky, with twitchy steering control. It takes a lot of getting used to. (So did GTA IV's driving, but once I was used to it I thought it was arguably the best driving control and physics outside of a few dedicated racing games. I don't see that happening here.) The fact that there's no option to switch to a first person or on-the-hood camera is an unforgivable sin. I can understand why they don't do that in Saints Row, but there's nothing stopping them from implementing it here. All of the driving mechanics would still work perfectly well, including the "Action Hijack" feature where you jump from your car to another. That's what the green arrow icon is for, after all. In the final analysis, this is the closest thing to a "major flaw" I can think of. It doesn't really make a dent in the overall awesomeness of the game. The relatively small city and lack of flying vehicles are non-issues.

The combat is more focused on hand to hand than gunplay. As I'm sure many others have said, it's pretty similar to the Arkham games. Another good comparison would be Assassin's Creed, which also emphasizes/rewards countering incoming attacks rather than simply attacking on your own.

The icing on the cake is the dialogue. The voice acting in general is surprisingly good. A lot of random dialogue is surprisingly hilarious. The kung fu instructor is a particular favorite, e.g. while you're hard at work traiing against a bunch of his students, he suggests that you previously studied martial arts at "the School of Never Winning" and that you worship "the God of Weakness".

All of that said, while I still wouldn't call these "major" flaws there are a couple of things that do annoy me a little:

* Disappearing weaponsIn this game, weapons are basically treated as temporary power ups. Melee weapons break after you use them too much, I'm fine with that. But guns just mysteriously disappear from your inventory for no apparent reason. I get what the developer was trying to do, i.e. keep the focus on martial arts hand-to-hand combat. But limiting what the player can do is anathema to the whole sandbox game play philosophy. It's about letting the player do what they want to do at all times. I can honestly say that I probably would have kept my weapon holstered and used martial arts for most of the combat, because the game has a robust combat system that's fun and satisfying. They should have trusted in that. It's just annoying that my weapons kept magically evaporating into thin air between missions. Breaks the immersion.

* Another immersion breaking problem I had was too much "warping" around the world. i.e. A cutscene plays out with dialogue which indicates where to go to begin a mission, the screen fades to black, and then suddenly I find myself halfway across the city, at the location. No, no, no. Just tell me where to go and then let me get there on my own. This is basic sandbox game design, guys.

Bottom line is that you get a nice decent sized city to mess around in, the missions are engaging with good variety (aside from standard combat "go to location X and kill person Y" there's hacking cameras, tracing cell phone calls, unscrewing air vent covers, planting bugs, etc.) the side activities are plentiful and fun, everything looks great, they did a good job on the music... it's just an excellent high quality package in general.

Honest reviews on Sleeping Dogs - Xbox 360

WOW! This is game is incredible. I just finished the story and I must say it is most impressive. I cannot recommend this game high enough. I have been playing games since the old Intellvision days and I must say this will be one of my favorites to keep in my collection. I enjoyed it a lot more than the GTA games mainly due to the fighting and in my opinion a better story. The fighting mimics the Batman games and I found myself often going out of my way to fight at the fight clubs to try new moves. Driving was fun, sometimes frustrating, but I must admit thrilled when I won a race. I liked the arcade feel of driving. The side quests were entertaining and a nice diversion.

I must admit I would have liked to see tougher enemies with different fighting styles and character models. Instead of using the same enemy types over and over again. Some other little cons are the in game GPS which can be frustrating as it does not always guide you on the shortest and direct path. Also the mini surveillance camera game should have mixed it up with different character models instead of using the same character model that you picked over and over again. It could have been more engaging as you should have watched the deal going down and then select the person to arrest with different character models.

Pros:

-Fighting system

-Upgrade system

-Arcade races

-Story

-Environmental hazards

Cons:

In game GPS system sometimes frustrating

Same character models recycled

Repetitive surveillance camera game

Same fighting moves with enemies need more diversity with fighting style and character models.

Camera view will sometimes flake out when driving around corners or backing up in traffic. Drive straight for a moment and the camera will correct itself.

Overall a must buy.

So it seems that many popular sites are aimed at putting this title down. Hey after all we all have our agendas right. I personally think the ratings systems used by popular sites, books, etc are both money based, and biased. Enough of that though, so I will call it right down the middle.

Pros:

You can feel the amount of effort and thought that went into this game.

The world is huge, you will have plenty to do.

Fighting is rewarding because unlike Arkham you will get hit sometimes like in real life.

Voice acting, and synchronization are pretty good.

Music, has a awesome kick to it.

Side missions are okay, but what puts them above your standard side mission is because it all based in Hong Kong which makes it refreshing.

Cons:

Cars feel a bit stiff, not bad, but not all that good either.

Some things will be unclear to you. The game doesn't have a game manual to explain the unexplained.

Could have included more things to do in the world, you know things that have never reared it's face in open-world games. Come on developers INNOVATE for a change.

When I saw this sequel to Bioshock, I got excited. How were they going to up the ante? How much better would the rendering and animation be in a game released two years after the original? The answer is a reasonable one, but disappointing.

Pro:

+ Consistent with the original Bioshock, and indeed takes place in the same underwater habitat. The atmosphere is amazing, the art and voice acting are both superb

+ You can wield plasmids and normal weapons at the same time, an improvement over the original game mechanics

+ It's fun playing big daddy for a change, and there's a few new creatures

+ The addition of multiplayer is a plus!

+ The story is interesting and engaging

+ The graphics are acceptable for an AAA title of this generation

+ It retains most of the plusses of the original: relatively smooth gameplay, good hints to help you along when needed, etc.

Con:

I wanted more new features, not just refinements! This really does feel like more of the same. It's GOOD more of the same, but not great.

The rendering engine and animation quality feel a bit dated, more than I expected for a 2010 release on the 360.

The multiplayer is a bit rough. After saturating myself in Call of Duty: Black Ops, this pales in comparison in every way. Perhaps that's to be expected, though.

Is it worth buying and playing BioShock 2? As long as you get a good deal on it say half the price of a new title or less, then sure. Expect a good game with more of the same atmosphere, but not a GREAT game.

The "It's a Piece of Cake" game is soooo easy. There are lots of different levels and is really more about exploration than game skill. That's what's great about it for kids...they will love it and can actually play it. The "It's No Picnic" game also has lots of levels and was really more challenging than I expected. It took me quite a while to master the jumping and stuff. You can only use the directional buttons on the controler to move Hefty, and it takes a while to get the hang of it. I was very surprised and it was more difficult than I expected. Alot of times it just feels like the Smurf is NOT doing what you commanded it to, but precision and learning the timing of Hefty's movements is key to mastering this game. Practice makes perfect in this game. Game play was quite fun, but the end where you beat Gargamel was not as challenging as I expected compared to the rest of the game. The end was a bit disappointing. My 5 yr old can play the first two levels of "It's No Picnic", so even the harder portions of the game are good for kids as well as adults. I think you'll be happy with this game. It's not the greatest, but it's definitely not the worst. It has some great things to offer.

The "It's a Piece of Cake" level is was too easy, I think it might be for toddlers and in the "It's No Picnic" level I can't get past the first level because I can't find out how to get past the huge plant. When I try to jump over him he eats me. Rent this game before buying it and if you get past the plant can ya tell me how?

Ever since I first played Tales of Destiny way back in 1999 I have been in love with the Tales franchise. While not as immediately recognizable in the mainstream gaming community as the Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest/Warrior RPG juggernauts, the "Tales of" series of games have always had a loyal fan base due to the great stories and combat that is the hallmark of the games. The question of whether or not to purchase the latest game in the franchise was a no-brainer for me, and I can say with 100% certainty that I am so happy that I indulged myself.

Controls, Music, & Animation

Every Tales game is painstaking in its delivery of beautiful graphics and music, and Tales of Xillia (henceforth referred to as "ToX") continues in that tradition. Simply put, this game is gorgeous and takes every advantage of the PS3 hardware to simply amaze me. The world of Xillia is bright, colorful, and varied. Environments are dynamic; each exploration area is divided by little "breaks"; while this may seem annoying, the lack of lag when going through a doorway into the next room is practically non-existent. The screen flashes black for one moment and then you are free to control your character.

In addition to the beautiful backgrounds, the characters are 3D mirrors of their anime-inspired sprites used in the cut scenes. While you do notice the difference between the 2D drawing of Milla (the female protagonist) and her 3D avatar, the seamless transition negates any of the very minor aesthetic details. Finally, each character in the game is unique, sporting their own look, and enemies are just as varied and detailed as the "good guys".

Musically speaking, Tales of Xillia boasts an amazing orchestral arrangement with songs to suit every zone in the game. It is truly beautiful and lends itself well to the atmosphere of the story. When you are in an ominous, dark dungeon the music is creepy, with violins and woodwinds playing higher and slightly off-key, creating the ambiance of a thriller movie. Sound effects cover every aspect of movement, helping to bring the world of Xillia to life. If your character is moving through shallow water, swishing noises will occur with each step. The crackle of fire whispers through a zone, subtlety lighting a path. Birds chirp. When the graphics and sound come together, you will find yourself immersed in a world of magic, mysteries, and more than a few baddies to kill.

The controls in ToX are spot-on. Combat is real-time, so players need to be aware of their characters and the baddies on the screen. At the beginning of the game you can alter whether you want harder enemies, a longer input time for combos, and your Xand Y-axis movement [meaning whether pressing upward with the control stick will move the camera up (normal) or down (inverted)]. I chose the hardest setting and kept the input time as "Normal". In the beginning enemies attack slower, which is good as it gives you time to acquaint yourself with the mechanics of combat. While pressing the "X" button will make your character charge forward and attack a target, you also have different magic/elemental-based attacks that can be access from the menu (the "▲" button) which vary based upon who you chose as your protagonist to control. Thus, combat sometimes needs a good strategy; just jumping in and whacking enemies with your weapon does not always work. In this way ToX enhances the gameplay by adding a level of strategy. Once you form a party, coming up with a plan of attack becomes critical; you will be able to combine attacks and setup AI strategies to maximize your combat proficiency (your cohorts will be controlled by AI; from the party menu you can adjust their combat focus, for instance: should that character conserve TP (mana) or go all out and cast the most powerful spells each battle? Do you want a character to heal exclusively or to heal AND attack?)..

Finally, in regard to the map and character control, Xillia has everything nailed. The camera rests comfortably in a 3rd person perspective of your character. The camera rotates freely, enabling you to see a complete map and minimizing the risk of an enemy sneaking up from behind. Since enemies are seen on the map and battles are not random encounters, this is a very important function.

Story

ToX has an over-arching plot of determining why the elements are out of harmony and how to restore mana to the world. When one of the kingdoms in the world of Xillia experimented with powerful magic, they unwittingly caused widespread devastation by draining the world's mana. It is your job to figure out what happened and how to fix it before the other kingdoms start an all-out war.

While the story itself is your basic good-vs-evil RPG fare, the depth of the storyline, the complexity of the characters (their personalities and motives) and presented in a manner to both intrigue the player and to soldier onward to learn more. In addition, ToX gives you TWO games in one; at the beginning you choose either the male (Jude Mathis) or female (Milla Maxwell). In either case, the story will unfold from the perspective of THAT character. Thus, while you will travel with the other person regardless, you will only interpret events through the eyes and mind of your protagonist. This, of course, means that you will want to play through the game AGAIN to see another side to the story!

As the story progresses, you will find yourself watching numerous cut scenes and work to cultivate not only new abilities for combat but also the friendships of others in your party. Using a robust crafting system, ToX adds another level of depth by encouraging the player to explore and find items. All of this combined will suck you into the game and make you want to press onward (maybe to the detriment of your job... make sure that you don't miss work in your zeal to beat the game!).

Overall

To simplify this review, let's recap:

Pros:

1) Beautiful combat system that keeps enemy encounters fun and challenging,

2) No random encounters! Enemies are seen on the map and can be avoided, if desired,

3) Beautiful environment, unique characters, and an amazing soundtrack,

4) Game controls are easy to pick up and play,

5) LOTS of replay value: play through the character-specific storyline depending upon the hero,

6) Wonderful and often-humorous storytelling, encouraging dialogue with others,

7) Lots to explore and many items to find; exploring the world is visually rewarding!

Cons:

1) It costs money; but I guarantee that you will find this to be the best $60 spent on a game this year!

2) The cut scenes can be a little long at times, but this is a minor irritation at best,

3) That Tales of Xillia 2 won't be available in the U.S. for a while!

Thus, simply put, ToX is one of the best games that I have acquired and played in 2013. The story is entertaining, the gameplay is fun, combat isn't random and does require strategy (you can't just button-mash and expect to win), and you can replay the game a second time to see the story from another viewpoint. Oh, and did I forget to mention that the graphics are gorgeous and the soundtrack is amazing?

If you haven't already clicked that "Buy" button, you should really do so. This game is a must-have for PS3 owners, Tales franchise fans, or the RPG-lover in your life. This is truly one of the best games I have played, and I encourage you to explore the world of Tales of Xillia for yourself!

The Good:

+A good cast of characters

+A very in-depth battle system

+A good balance of character customization

+The music is absolutely fantastic

The Bad:

-Some areas could've had more details

-Exploration sometimes feels limited

The Tales series has not been huge in America. Case in point, we're just now getting Tales of Xillia when Japan received the game a couple of years ago (and already has a sequel out). Tales of Xillia made a big splash in Japan. It's said to be one of the best Tales games ever released. When playing it's easy to see why. It's a very fun JRPG that helps remind us why the genre still has life while other times reminding us why it's not quite as popular as it once was. Nevertheless the pros win out as Tales of Xillia is an amazing game.

Tales of Xillia centers on two characters. The first is a medical student named Jude Mathis. The other is a mysterious woman named Milla Maxwell. You're allowed to pick one character or the other to start the game. Picking one changes how you see certain events and the perspective of the story. The end goal is, for the most part, the same, but if you really love Tales of Xillia, you already have an incentive to play through it a second time. Their story takes place in the world of Reize Maxia where mana seems to be slowly draining away. Milla, along with her four spirits decides to investigate, while Jude gets wrapped up in the conflict.

As you might have guessed, the story in Tales of Xillia doesn't get off to a very quick start. It takes time to really get you to understand the world it takes place in as well as getting you used to the characters and their banter. So while it might take a moment of Tales of Xillia to really get going, you'll appreciate this once you really get to know the characters. One of the best things about the Tales series is the characters. Certainly they each play one typical role or another, but Tales has always gone to great lengths to develop them. The story itself really comes to life because of the characters and their chemistry with each other. They each have a distinct personality. Likewise, Tales of Xillia contains skits (a Tales staple) where characters will joke with one another, talk about certain events going on within the story and sometimes just talk about themselves. By the time the journey is done you'll learn a lot about them, and they'll change and develop quite drastically. Because of these characters, the story is that much more enticing as a result.

The only real downside to the story is the same that Tales has often come to be associated with. There will be many moments of long exposition. Sometimes explaining things you already know (and that the characters know). Sometimes you'll travel somewhere with few battles in between only to be lectured about current events in the story. In the long run this won't bother anyone. It can feel like you're getting bogged down in it all, but the game is no where near as bad about this as previous games in the series.

The battle system is going to feel both familiar and new to any Tales fan. Battles are contact based. When in battle you can move around freely and attack. There's no turn based system here. You and your allies can run all over the field and attack at your leisure. Tales of Graces F certainly added a new spin onto the series but here things go back to be on par with Vesperia more so than any other game. As usual you have tech points (TP) which can be used to perform Artes, which are like magic to deal extra damage. Some things have changed, however. There's more to Tales of Xillia than button mashing. It can feel this way at first, but as the game progresses you'll really need to put some of the new mechanics to work. When in the heat of battle you can backstep to evade attacks and surprise your enemy from behind. Most unique of all the new elements, though, is the ability to link with other party members and perform linked attacks. You'll be able to flank enemies, for instance. Whoever you are "linked" to will also cover your back. More impressive is that you'll be able to perform linked artes as well. All this seems like it would make Tales of Xillia a pretty easy game, but the truth is that at some point there's a lot of strategy involved. You need to be smart about who you link with, for example, and you need to be smart about how you evade and utilize your TP. It's not exactly a hard game (unless you up the difficulty) but it is a game that really wants you to understand the system at play.

You are only able to control one character at a time in battle. The other three are controlled by the AI. In most games the idea of the AI doing anything on your behalf is a nightmare, but in Tales of Xillia they hold their own. You won't have to spend a lot of time babysitting them, and you can customize strategies for them to use. The game also provides you with the ability to sign certain artes from other characters to a shortcut. If you need a character to cast a specific spell you can assign it to a shortcut to have them do so. You are also able to switch between characters any time you want in battle.

There is more to the battle system. Each character has a Lillium Orb. As you level your stats don't increase. Instead you get GP and move along a characters Lillium Orb. Using the Lillium Orb allows you to develop characters at your own pace by letting you increase their individual stats and learn new artes and skills. If you find you don't want to have to constantly make decisions about what stats to increase or artes to get, the game allows you to auto level and it'll develop the characters accordingly.

Graphically speaking, Tales has never been a big leader in this department. There aren't a lot of detail to the environments. In particular, running around the fields can sometimes feel like you're running down the same path over and over. There just aren't a lot of details in any of the dungeons or towns. At times environments feel strangely empty. This isn't likely to bother many players. By now most Tales fans pretty much expect this graphically. At the very least the cel-shading itself isn't bad. Character models are fairly detailed and have a unique design to them. They really stand out. Plus, with how much fun you'll be having with the battle system and how good the story is... it's safe to say that the graphics being below the standard is a very minor flaw in what is an otherwise very good game overall.

Musically, however, Tales of Xillia may have the best soundtrack in a Tales game yet. It's very good all around. Often evoking the right mood and tone. For those who picked up the Limited Edition you'll get a music CD to help you sample. The voice acting can be a mixed bag, however. As is usual, the voices themselves fit with the characters, but the voice talent themselves isn't always up to par. At the very least, Tales of Xillia has some well crafted dialog to really help things along. Again, the voice acting is probably a more minor thing. It's never cringe worthy. There are just times you wish it packed more of a punch--especially in the game's more emotional moments (and there are a lot of those).

Tales of Xillia is far from being flawless, of course. As noted, the graphics aren't the best and the voice acting isn't quite as good. These are the minor things. What may be a little more major is how the world in and of itself feels slightly smaller. One of the best things about other tales outings (particularly, Abyss, Symphonia and Vesperia) is that there was a huge overworld to explore. Here, things are a lot more linear. Often the game doesn't really let you branch off the beaten path. If you try many times the game simply won't let you--usually reminding you to get back to the quest at hand. There are plenty of sub events and sidequests that can be done, but Tales of Xillia doesn't always feel like it's a world that can be explored and traversed.

Nevertheless, Tales of Xillia is a very fun game in and of itself. It's a rewarding JRPG which is a lot of fun to play and has a good cast of characters to carry the story along. If you're a fan of the Tales series then you should definitely play.

Honest reviews on Tales of Xillia - Playstation 3

This is first experience with the Tales series. ]

Story: A little on the cliche side but very enjoyable. The main cast of characters have their own motives and issues going on. Their chemistry makes for some entertaining dialog segments throughout your long journey. Only minor gripe I have is with the pacing. There are times where I felt like I was watching a full anime movie than playing a game.

Gameplay: This is where the game truly shines. The combat is faced paced, colorful, and dynamic. There is a lot to learn when creating combos to cause mass choas on your foes, but the game has an amazing tutorial system the breaks things down. Each character has their own feel and unleashing their moves and combos makes you want to take turns controlling each one throughout the campagin.

Verdit: Whether you're a fan of RPG's or great games in general, this game is a must buy. It definitely holds a candle to the best RPG's of this generation. Don't miss out!

I'm not too excited about my child watching a lot of TV even less so about video games. But when we do either I want to make sure there is some education or learning taking place. This game combines two things that my child loves to do: Learn about nature and playing games. Her friends that come visit also enjoy playing it and I have to say its even pretty fun for adults. Its really funny to see Grandma and my daughter pretend to be a bear :)

You can read about the product details but I wanted to throw in my two cents that I think the game is a solid investment for your 4-8 year old.

We've tried many Kinect games but this one is truly educational and I plan to buy future versions as well as it's a combination of watching/learning TV as well as some mini games. Definitely would buy again!

My girls love this game. They get to pretend to be the animal that is featured in the episode (bear cub, mountain lion, etc.). It gets them up and moving while watching an educational tv show. I'm very happy we got this one.

Recently bought the kinect to play with my almost 3 year old daughter. Out of all the games I bought, this one is the most fun of them all. Easily recognizes me at 6ft and my daughter at 3ft. Fun to see our bodies with animal head and hands. While I found the actual show part interesting, it didn't keep her attention for too long so we've mostly been playing just the games. Definitely recommend for young kids and adults to play together.

Got the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter. I am using it together with a pretty fast wireless router (forgot the name/specs, it cost $70) which is about 25 feet away with a direct line of site. My connection seems to be as good as using a wired network, I can't really detect any difference between this wireless setup and my old wired setup.

I've heard bad things about wireless connections being slow for xbox, but I think alot of that has to do with what wireless router you use. Don't use the cheapest router you can find or you will likely be setting yourself up to have slow connection problems also. A good wireless router will run $50-$100, search online for "good wireless routers" and you'll find some options pretty easy.

Review of Gallop Racer

Gallop Racer
Customer Ratings: 5 stars
Buy Now
It's simply the best. My Dad and I have seen the sun come up a many mornings playing Gallop Racer. All of my other games are just collecting dust since we've been running horses. I'm 12 years old, my dad's been taking me to the race track since I was a baby. We race a couple horses every year. The only diffences between the game and real racing is you don't win real money and you don't have to go out to feed and train. I would rate this game 100 stars. The horses look real they run like real horses, the jocks look and ride like the Hall of Famers. You start a career create your very own jockey (male or female) in your silks, buy a horse or two and start winning races. You can run in regular stakes or graded stakes, where the big boys run. It's just so real the better he is on the track, the better he is in the breeding barn. Breed that tripple crown winner and get your horse and jockey into the Hall of Fame and other great awards. If your husband enjoy horse racing or you want him and your son to spend some quality time together get them this game. Gotta go now, got one about to run in the Louisiana Derby.

This is a must have game! You get to choose from over 100 horses, you get to own, breed, race, and retire your horse. You are the jockey. You can choose from male/female,the uniform and colors you wear. You can own up to 10 horses. You can save your season game. You can choose where and when you race depending on the horses age and where it runs best at. You can also name your breeded horse' offspring! If you are in to horses and racing, this is the game for you! Everyone I know loves this game!

Best Deals for Gallop Racer

This is one game you can't miss. If you like horses and/or racing, then this is the one. Challenge a friend, race the field in practice while you learn the ropes, or try your hand at raising a winning barn. It's got it all! Loads of fun that I still haven't tired of or already beaten. So, if you want a great game, then "Gallop Racer" is for you!

Honest reviews on Gallop Racer

Gallop Racer is a great game. The horses all have different personalities and running styles. They also come in a wide range of colors and markings. In Season Mode, you buy your own stable of horses with the money that you are given and the money that you earn from races. The graphics are really cool too. Races can even be run in the rain and snow! But, it takes awhile to become a good jockey. In order to become good, you have got to practice all the time! But in the end it pays off. When you start to win more races, better horses, bigger races, and new racetracks are unlocked. My favorite beginner race horses are Lively Beat, Sexy Sunrise,Welsh Chapel, and Single Night. My favorite advanced horses are All You Can, Frugal Lark, Courtly Lark, Gothic Value, Gray Sky, Solar Blond, Utmost Mover, Honest Bird, Hell Billy, White Stage, and Warm Star.

This game makes me feel like I am really riding and racing my own horses. Gallop Racer is my all-time favorite PS1 game.

My daughter was always renting this game from the video store and loved it so much that I decided to give it a try. I'm not much of a video game player, but I've got to tell you that this really is an awesome game, especially if you enjoy horses. It has so many different aspects to it that you never get bored! There's a lot to consider and I wish that the manual was just a tad more detailed in a couple of areas. That would be helpful when you are first starting out, but my 9 year old daughter was able to pick right up on the jest of the game, and with some help from me, she is really understanding and learning about the actual training and breeding end of horse-racing. She can race against the computer or against me, or just bet on races when she gets tired of that... The graphics are terrific and you can adjust the weather, the views and pick any number of horses and race tracks. It's so much fun that we don't want to stop playing it to take it back to the video store, so that is why we are buying our own copy... It's fun for ALL!

PS3 320GB Uncharted 3 Bundle Reviews

PS3 320GB Uncharted 3 Bundle
Customer Ratings: 5 stars
Buy Now
Okay, the hardest part of any review to me is an introduction. I am primarily an Xbox 360 owner, and that is what I use for most online games such as Battlefield or Call of Duty. However, I can now confidently say that spending $300 for a PS3 is worth it just for the sake of the Uncharted series alone. I would literally throw down that kind of money just for these three games, something I have not done since the original Xbox when Halo came out. I played the first two games on my buddies PS3 a few years back, but only recently decided to claim actual ownership over a PS3 system with the purchase of this bundle. I like the system, its controller feels great, feels reliable (basically it doesn't feel cheap). I like the fact that the system is silent when playing games, I also like that the online is free (but I feel Xbox Live is more organized, and yes I'll admit, there is a bias to my statement, sorry guys).

I'm going to go ahead and close this review, making it a short one. Why? Because I feel I summed up that I obviously like the system and the Uncharted series. I also feel that there are already plenty of reviews that go into explicit detail over the system, online, Blu-Ray and games. If you don't own a PS3, but want to jump into the PlayStation community, while experiencing a great game series such as Uncharted, buy this bundle. Playing Uncharted has done something to me that no other game has done since Halo ten years prior or Shenmue for the Dreamcast twelve years prior, and that is spend hundreds of dollars to play one game. That comment alone I believe sums up this review and any review from any individual or game site. Uncharted is the PlayStation's Halo its "killer app", and to me, worth spending the money to experience.

I'm breaking down this review in 3 catagories which are the saving cost of buying the bundle, The PS3 System itself, and the UNCHARTED 3 game.

1. Savings as far as buying as a bundle:

This is actually a really good deal for 2 reasons. One, the PS3 320GB system normally cost anywhere new between $290 and $300 dollars by itself which means your getting Uncharted 3 (As of this writing the retail is between between $50 and $60 dollars) for free. Second, is with the cost of Hard drives having doubled and in some cases almost tripled due to the current hard drive shortage the hard drive alone is worth anywhere between $150 to $200 dollars by itself. the overall cost savings on both items mentioned more than justifies this purchase.

2. The PS3 Game Console System:

This is actually our family's second PS3, the 1st one my son got an almost pristine PS3 1st Generation 60gb CECHAxx Launch model (November 2006) from his 2 best friends as a Christmas Present, not realizing at the time what a diamond in the rough he was receiving. I'm not going to lie to you, If anybody still owns one of this original launch models and it still works, KEEP IT! They are vastly superior to these newer "Slim" Models that Sony is now selling. The reason for the additional purchase is Problems started to arise with "play time" on the PS3 with my son so I decided to go ahead and purchase one for myself and the rest of the family. With that being said, I will move on with the review of this 320GB 4th generation PS3 Slim Model (CECH-30xxB series).

The Hardware on the inside is the same reliable PS3 Hardware Sony has sold since almost after the launch of the original PS3 in North America (Once they fixed the Blu-Ray defect). Starts right up, plays my PS3 Games perfectly, works with my blu-rays, and works perfectly with my home Network. The Dual Shock 3 wireless Controller that comes with it works awesome and is easy to use. The HDMI and Sound are also equally awesome (Has to be plugged into a "amplifier/receiver" to tap into the Dolby Digital sound experience). As far as the drawbacks go there really is only 1 that stares you right in the face and that is the New "Slim" Design, It's God Awful. The Best way to describe is as my oldest son put it; "Dad, That looks Ghetto!"; However, due to its size it was easily hidden inside my entertainment center and barely noticeable to the naked eye. The only other minor problem is sometimes you can hear the hard drive on the PS3 when it's being written to and read to.

* Playstation 1 (PS1) Backward Compatibility. Updated 11-13-2012: Just FYI the AMAZON Description of the this PS3 Slim Bundle is WRONG concerning NO Backward compatibility for the PS1, I just tested Duke Nukem: A Time to Kill for the PS1 just recently (about 2 weeks ago)and it worked like a champ.

Another plus to this Game system is the feature rich applications that are available for use that come with the PS3 Standard like Netflix (monthly fee), Video & Picture Editing, Use of the PSN Network, and Internet browsing. Also Additional Accessories like the MOVE Package can be added to this system as well.

3. The Uncharted 3 Game:

For those who have played the previous Uncharted games you will not be disappointed, it bigger and badder than before. Nathan Drake and mentor Victor Sullivan are once again traveling around the world to such places as the Rub' al Khali desert, in search of the legendary lost city, the Iram of the Pillars. Elena Fisher and Chloe Frazer also return in Uncharted 3. The plot draws from the archaeology days of T. E. Lawrence.

Several new features have been included in the game, including mechanics that create gameplay situations designed to assist the losing team, improves ability enhancements and augmentations that must be purchased for each use, special abilities that are made available when a certain amount of medals has been attained within a match, and "Uncharted TV", a small video window that appears throughout the multiplayer menus, creating a video that can be uploaded to Facebook, YouTube or the XMB. Multiplayer also includes a character creation system, allowing a user to extensively customise their in-game character. Co-operative multiplayer also returns from Uncharted 2.

Other than that it's like most everybodys review of the game, graphics are aewsome, game play astounding, you will be playing for hours to play the game.

4. In Conclusion: Wether you are buying a PS3 for the first time, adding a second one, want the game and would not hurt to have another PS3, or just replacing a no longer working PS3 this is the bundle to get. I would overall highly recommend picking up.

Best Deals for PS3 320GB Uncharted 3 Bundle

It took a deployment to Afghanistan to finally break down and purchase a PS3, but I'm glad I finally made the decision.

The 320GB Uncharted 3 bundle is perfect for the adventure/action game types that really aren't interested in the Move bundle. I already have the Kinect for the 360 back home, and while neat, I found it to be a bit of a gimmick. Add in that space is a premium out here, I felt that the Move was an unnecessary premium.

I owned the original PS3 a few years back and I have to say that the fit and finish of the lighter slim doesn't seem as nice as the original (IE, satin black versus the nicer looking Piano Black) but I wouldn't go so far as to call it cheap. It seems this time around, it's just the basics, but you have to ask yourself: How often are you staring at your gaming console anyway?

I probably don't have to tell you that the graphics are on par with the 360. I haven't had the two side by side, but nothing has been so significantly better to stand out from what you'd expect from the competing console. Really these days, with an exception of a few rare exclusive games, your decision is probably more on what controller you're more comfortable with.

Speaking of controllers, the tried and true wireless Playstation controller is still mostly unchanged and feels like it could still take the beatings that most controllers do.

But that's enough about the console.

Uncharted 3 is probably one of the most enjoyable bundled games I've played since the days when Sonic 2 and Super Mario World were the standard issue. The controls are easy to pick up, the storyline is intriguing, action packed, and character development is quite good. I hadn't played the first two games, but with the plot of the number 3 installment being pretty self contained, I was able to step right in without feeling lost in the events. I likened the game to Indiana Jones or The Mummy, set in modern times. You follow the footsteps of Nathan Drake and his friends as they search for lost treasure by puzzle solving, fist fighting, and shooting their way across the globe. Throughout the game, you wonder if he also moonlights as a parkour champion, as you spend a good deal of your time climbing and making death defying leaps over obstacles in your way. The game's pace is very good at going from highs and lows, and not staying in either for too long. You may find yourself solving one of the game's many puzzles only the next to end up in an epic shoot out as you try to escape a burning building. I will say that the game is not for the faint of heart. Even on normal, you may find yourself dying... a lot. There are just certain ways to do some things and the game doesn't always reward brute force. Despite this, the single player campaign gets a 5 out of 5 in my book.

Multiplayer, for a tack on feature is actually pretty fun. I haven't tried any of the online features yet, but the split screen offers co-op modes of a separate story line, as well as deathmatch-like scenarios such as capture the flag, base defense, and survival. It's no Halo or Modern Warfare, but I'd give the multiplayer a high 3 out of 5.

So in conclusion, if you have been on the fence about the PS3, love adventure/action games, and not really interested in gimmicks like the Move, this is definitely the bundle for you.

Honest reviews on PS3 320GB Uncharted 3 Bundle

PS3 REVIEW:

I started having issues with my fat 40gb PS3 a little while ago(overheating, screaming cooling fan). I decided to buy this package because I really wanted a slim PS3 and I love the Uncharted series. The newest slim model is incredibly quiet and runs much cooler than my fat 40gb PS3. I have completed Uncharted 3 and Heavy Rain and the PS3 has hardly made a peep. I got so tired of my fat PS3 cooling fan going full blast, drowning out the game or movie sound. I love the compact size, the buttons and the lack of LED lights. I am a firm believer that a game system shouldn't be a center piece that is crying out for attention. A game system should be as concealed and unnoticeable as possible. It's the game that should have the attention. I wish I purchased a slim earlier. I love the minimalistic approach. Some have complained about the Blu-ray reader being loud. I barely noticed. In fact, if it hadn't been brought up on other reviews, it wouldn't have crossed my mind. I have put it through a lot in a short period of time and am very satisfied.

UNCHARTED 3 REVIEW:

Minor Spoilers.

I was really looking forward to this game. The reviews and the hype were all there. Unfortunately 'Uncharted 3' can't hold a flame to its predecessor. The single player campaign is much shorter and the story lacks any real depth. The bad guys are weaker and less impressive. The bonus' were lacking and the intrigue wasn't there. It has epic moments. Graphics are amazing. Acting is amazing. Just seemed more repetitive than the previous games. Similarities with movies like 'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' can't be missed. In fact, this game is almost an homage to those movies. Seemed like Naughty Dog Studio was under more pressure this time around to pump a game out. I think when Uncharted 4 comes out, I will be waiting for it to drop in price considerably or perhaps rent it.

I'm primarily an Xbox junkie longtime Halo fan, I have two 360s for 4-player coop, have logged many an hour fragging on Live with my younger brother, have poured far too much money into XBLA games and addons you get the picture.

I didn't conceive of myself getting a PS3 until the pricetag was at least sub-$200. But then, you see, a funny thing happened: my parents got a 3D TV. And I bought some stereoscopic 3D games for the 360. And I was totally blown away.

Before long, I'm looking for more 3D games like a junkie who needs to feed his habit. But shoot, I've bought all the S3D games for the 360, and... for a brief few weeks, I'm lost. In a daze. Not sure what to do with myself and the money I'm earning that I'd promised myself I'd save to finish the last year of my college education.

Except... one day, I find out the PS3 has become the PS3D. And there's a nice library of PS3D exclusives that are... well, 3D. Not just that, but I quickly find out that Shadow of the Colossus -a game I have loved for many years and will continue to love for years more -was recently re-released in glorious HD and stereoscopic 3D.

The rest of my life quickly unfolds before my eyes: I think of the girl I've loved all my life, the one I've been thinking of proposing to and I forget her instantly in favor of this black chick I'm going to pick up on Amazon for $300. I wasn't even planning on shelling out another $50 for more head, but I saw the normal 320gb model went for $300, and this bundle had a free sterescopic 3D game thrown in for the same price. Hawt.

Fast forward to now. I have beaten Uncharted 3 and SotC in S3D. Both games are astounding. Amazing. Awesome. Ridiculous. Mind-blowingly immersive. No number of adjectives will do justice. (Aside: I cannot believe that none of my PS3-owning friends ever recommended the Uncharted series to me)

My finishing statement: words cannot begin to describe how fulfilling this purchase was for me. I mean, I don't think I've felt this warm and fuzzy since watching Azumanga Daioh. This purchase is a win.

I am happy :)
