SC Conviction is a nice game, the graphics are terrific, the playability is different from any predecessor Splinter Cell games. You spend more time on combat than stealth mode, that no was a problem for me because I like the both styles.

I didn't play the multiplayer because nobody on my list has the game yet, So I can't talk about it.

My sad part, is that I already have the $69.99 price on CE since I put my pre-order on last Black Friday, so the Ubisoft discount was not a big deal for me.

My USB unfortunately arrived defective, if you want get that game, just go for the standard version, I think the additional content will be open for everybody at .

Standard Version is the best choice! The game still sweet, is very well designed, the Sam is a bad guy and I like it, I hope the multiplayer will be good, if you will buy only for single player, you will fell your money a little bit worthless, because the campaign is very short, so is better you wait price drops.

Sorry my English, I Live in Brazil :)

Conviction is a great title. The gameplay does a great job of balancing the ability to take things more combat focused. It will still rampant things up more but it won't be instantly game over (minus one area) but the inclusion of mark and execute forces you at times to want to stay stealthy. Mark and Execute is like targeting enemies in Rainbow Six: Vegas but in this case you pull the moves off which makes for a fast paced Jason Bourne still cinematic as you do it. It looks incredibly cool. TO get mark and execute you have to take out enemies secretly.

Beyond that, the graphics are good and the soundtrack does a great job of pumping up certain moments. The game though is a bit short but the story is pretty cool and the narrative is well spoken with great voice overs. Now the single player game is short but there is other modes as well and co-op is a great addition that allows you to tackle a whole different story without Sam Fisher. You will both have to work together to sneak around and do the same as you do in the single player game (of course with different objectives).

As you progress you will gain, points as you take out enemies in certain ways and by doing other things. This allows you to upgrade many of the available weapons, special gadgets, and even your costumes (used in certain modes). It is a great game. I have had issues with co-op at times but you can end with a good connection. Its that when you disconnect, you lose all your progress from the checkpoint so will have to start over.

Fans of Splinter Cell games should enjoy this games and people who don't like Splinter Cell should find this game a welcome change for the series. It does little nice things by displaying the objective within the environment, has a new ability to use a shadow image of yourself that signals where the enemy has last seen you against themselves, and there is a cool little interrogation you can do in the game. I recommend this game.

It's finally here, a new Splinter Cell, or is it? This new game has some of the same names and faces, and even design choices of previous games, but seems to not fit the old style as much as it used to, but that's okay in many ways. While this new Splinter Cell is not quite like others, it's still good. As for the game itself, it is amazing, the gameplay is rich and fun, story interesting yet not overdone.

Needless to say, while the game by itself is amazing, it doesn't feel exactly like Splinter Cell, but in many ways that's okay, while this game could have been a remake of the Bourne game, it still plays well and is fun, and if you ever like stealth action at all, this is a must pick up for anyone.

Honest reviews on Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction CE

I had purchased Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction on launch and enjoyed the game. I had only played through the campaign on normal and beat it the next day. I didn't bother to try out any of the other game modes so I sold it back in April 2010 and forgot about it. After searching through amazon for cheap games I came upon the Collectors Edition of Splinter Cell Conviction. Being that the price was the same as the standard edition, It was an instant purchase.

I'm so glad I picked up this game again because playing through it a second time and exploring the other game modes make me wish I never got rid of it! Splinter Cell Conviction is an amazing game. The combination of stealth and action was perfectly blended in the gameplay and made it a blast to play through. Deniable Ops is fun to play repeatedly and with the Insurgency DLC out makes for hours of fun.

The collectors edition was a great package overall, the Fifth Freedom art book was a nice touch and was nostalgic for me to look back on the old splinter cell games from the first xbox. I was disappointed in the USB credit card being defective. But however after a brief google search I found the content was on the website. The steel book looks great with the iconic night vision goggles in bullet holes on the cover. I am glad a re purchased Splinter Cell Conviction and am looking at buying more collectors editions for older games here on amazon.

In Conviction, Sam has left Third Echelon following the death his daughter and of his friend Lambert. While he is gone, the new Director, Tom Reed, has completely changed how the agency operates, making connections with less than savory people. Fisher is suddenly brought back into the game by Anna Grimsdotter when a mercenary tries to have him killed, but explains that its part of a conspiracy involving his daughter that goes all the way to the top of Third Echelon. Great storyline, excellent gameplay. The new style and addition of Last Known Position and Mark and Execute make this more fun than ever, and the Realistic difficulty is (with a few execeptions) realistic. Enemies respond to your actions, call for backup, and make smart movements. Multiplayer is good, with an independent storyline. Also, actions and achievements earn you points which allow you to unlock new weapons and gadgets to keep you playing.

I think THQ has done a great job with the latest WWE game. If there is one thing I totally dislike about this game its the fact that the controls are different from the previous game. In SVR 2011, the right analog stick was used to perform the grapple moves. In this game, they've changed that. There have also been other changes made. To make matters worse, you can't adjust it in the options. I don't like the changes they've made to getting out of an opponent's pin attempt. Used to you caould mash buttons to break a pin, but now its more like a mini-game. There is a bar that appears. You have to hold the A button & release it in a small shaded area. This takes some getting used to. Those are about the only negative things about this game.

I like the limb target system in this game. I just wish that you could target the individual legs like you can with the arms. The struggle submission system has been replaced by the Breaking Point submission, which consists of mashing buttons to get your opponent to submit. You also have the ability to perform a wake up taunt. This will cause your opponent to get up in a daze allowing to do your finisher more effectively.

As for the newest customization feature, you can now customize an arena. This feature allows you to customize the apron, the inner part of the ring, the ropes, turnbuckle pads, the mat outside the ring, the announce table, the ring posts, the barricades, & the electronic bill boards. Plus you can also decide what name plate you want to use during the character's entrance (that displays their name). I would have added the ability to customize the stage area such as the Titantron & stage decorations.

When you create a wrestler, you can choose up to four different words that the ring announcer addresses you by. This is very similar to THQ's WWE Raw 2 for Xbox. I wish they would have also used this for the play-by-play commentary name as well. I have a character that I normally create called Jack Hammer. Its cool that the ring annoucer will call him Jack Hammer as he's going out to the ring, but Michale Cole & Jerry Lawler will only address him by one of the limited names listed.

WWE Universe Mode has also been given some better features too. While I haven't played too much into this mode yet, there are some matches that are called "Today's Remarkable Match". When you play that, something will happen. This could be anything from you getting attacked by somebody after a match to an alliance being formed. You can also customize the shows that are being used by changing their logo & the name of the show. While I haven't seen it yet, I've also heard that you can customize which titles are used in Raw & Smackdown.

Road to Wrestlemania Mode is different than last year's installment. Rather than choosing one of six characters to play as, you play in three different storylines. First you play as a villan, then you play as an outsider, then as a hero. The presentation is almost like watching it on TV. The pay-per-view events now actually have a narrator that says, "WWE proudly presents (PPV name)". This is where you will also unlock various items.

This game is a must have for any wrestling fan. While it isn't controller friendly, its still worth buying because of the newer features that it has.

I enjoy the graphics, smoothness, and the excitement of the matches, but you can read about all of that in the other reviews, and there's no sense in me repeating it. The controls are a bit of challenge for a newbie like me, but that doesn't really bother me.

What I like in particular is that there's a real sense of drama to the matches that doesn't really exist in the previous games, where there's a lot more of one wrestler (or "superstar" as the WWE calls them) dominating the other. But with WWE 12, the method of kicking out from a pin, and the way a match can seesaw back and forth, etc., creates a really compelling tension and excitement each time. I would compare it to a basketball game in which the scoring goes back and forth and one side or the other can still win all the way until the very end, as compared to football games in which the outcome is usually a foregone conclusion way before the end.

I'm also amazed at how they got the facial expressions on the wrestlers so accurately. Part of the emotion of the TV shows (the soap opera aspect, if you will) comes from the expression on the faces of the characters, which of course helps to develop those characters and make the viewer feel more involved.

All in all this game is a must-have for all fans of Raw and Smackdown.

For this year's edition game publisher THQ drops the Smackdown Vs Raw moniker in favor of the new and simpler "WWE 12" but it's still clearly a continuation of the franchise, and I can't say that there any drastic change except perhaps the controls. Each year there are things to like and things to hate about every WWE/Smackdown Vs Raw titles, rarely do we get perfect or near perfect games (Smackdown Here Comes The Pain and Smackdown Vs Raw 2006 both come to mind as excellent wrestling games) and WWE 12 is no different. It hits and misses in some departments but it's playable and offers some WWE fun.

I like the new controls, when I first heard of them I was skeptical and thought I would hate them. They're a little hard to figure out initially but as with any games it gets easier and now they've grown on me. They pretty much ditched the previous controls and now you use A for grapples, B for strikes etc. and for the most part the controls are just fine. I can appreciate that they were trying to mix up the gameplay a little, the old controls were working fine as they were I think there should have been the option of keeping the old controls at least. The only real problem in the gameplay is probably the AI level. On Road To Wrestlemania the AI can be pretty harsh on you at times and often it's very difficult to execute a reversal. Something about the reversals is just not right with WWE 12.To make things worse, sometimes the game will indicate the need to repeatedly press the A button to regain balance but 95% of the time it never works, no matter how many times you press A. The AI beat me plenty of times and I've had to replay some matches more than I would like to admit. It's "challenging" alright but also frustrating. Graphics are excellent this year and look better than ever. The superstars, their facial expressions, the arenas and the crowds...everything looks gorgeous.

I find most of the problems with the game to be in the Road To Wrestlemania mode. First off, everything is scripted, every match has been pre-determined. You can't lose technically, because the game won't let you continue past a match until you win it OR have the outcome pre-determined that you lost. It's all about wrestling until you either win or beat your opponent enough to press Y and then a cut scene sequence is launched and all you do is watch. While you're backstage you can't run or turn the camera which makes backstage play fairly mediocre. All you do is walk slowly until you get from point A to B (and most of the time it doesn't lead to anything interesting) and sometimes you have to guess where you need to go. The backstage fights however, are fun. You unlock a lot of the roster, different suits, titles etc through the completition of the mode. Add to this the mode isn't all that long; you go on for basically a few weeks per wrestler. I remember when story mode used to be about a year long, leading up to Wrestlemania and all the Pay-Per-View events.

You get The Rock as a free downloadable character with the game already, but I feel roster isn't exactly WWE 12's strong point. There aren't as much wrestlers as I would've expected and not enough Legends and Divas unfortunately. THQ has announced some download packs for Wrestlers like Batista, Trish Stratus, Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley and Jerry Lawler but I feel that this is a cheap move from THQ's part and that they should have been included at least as unlockables. Why pay $59.99 and then have to pay extra for superstars that should have been included in the first place? Sad move by THQ. I've noticed that occasionally bugs will happen, but not the kind that freezes the game. It happened twice so far that an opponent performed an Irish Whip in the ring and sent me in a frozen motion in the crowd. One of these happened in an Elimination Chamber match.

I was certainly glad to see the WWE Universe mode again. In the past I would spend hours making my own scenarios in my head and executing them in WWE games. Maybe I'm one of the few who likes this mode but this helps justify my purchase of WWE 12. Create matches is still here and this year they've added create an Arena which is a very cool addition, you can build your own Arena to your liking. Create A Wrestler is for many one of the best aspects of the WWE series and it continues to be excellent here. For me, a lot of the fun is found in exhibition play with some friends defending titles and playing our favorite match types over and over. It never gets old.

The game is very fluid which is what THQ goes for, looks and feels fantastic, and it plays very much like a real wrestling match by which I mean you can interrupt finishers and grapples from another wrestler, you won't just stand there waiting like previous titles. For all its flaws, WWE 12 remains a fun and entertaining wrestling game. The in-ring action is spectacular at times and always appealing. It offers the most realistic possible WWE experience a video game can offer. It even has all the "WWE Presents..." before the PPVs adding to the realism factor. I also like the commentaries in this title. In retrospect if THQ offered a larger roster and didn't try to rip us off into buying wrestler "packs", had a better and longer Road To Wrestlemania it would've made WWE 12 a better game. For all its worth I'll give WWE 12 3-3.5/5 stars, I like the gameplay and I'll be playing and enjoying the game for some time but I think the average gamer and WWE fan should rent before buying this title at full price.

The new Predator graphics engine brings the WWE franchise to a whole new level. The Road to Wrestlemania is a little weak, but the game is just pure non-stop fun. Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock. Enough said.

I'm not here to hate on the game because we all know the game is great and highly better than it's competitor NBA Live 14 (If you want to call it a competitor right now at this time, as far as the future hopefully they'll improve majorly). As far as 2K14 is concerned it's already noted that gameplay it's really good, despite the fact the A.I lacks a bit at times especially on defense because they give your opponent too much space on the floor, so they can come back with a quick three.

But I'm not here to talk about gameplay so much, but I'm here to speak on the microtransactions and how its ruining the game if you ask me anyways. So lets get into it shall we? For one the accessories for your myplayer (compression sleeves, calf sleeves, headbands, goggles, etc.) you have to pay for each individual item and I what I mean by this is if you buy one color of the same sleeve and want to get the same style sleeve you have to pay for another color for the same item. Secondly, the attributes that they put on the adidias items aren't even that much of a boost to your myplayer in stats wise. For instance the dwight howard sleeve that costs 5,000VC for a +2 three point shot and a color of your choosing. It's as if your paying more for the name then the stats because if you use that on your MyPlayer then you could certainly achieve more then +2 to your 3 point rating unless its almost at max status. I'm sorry, but I believe they should go back to the nba 2k12 format of giving you the accessories for free and give your choice of team color 1/2, white, black, and also add any other colorway of your choosing. Also note that the headband accessory is 200 VC more then on last gen when it was 1000VC. Thirdly, you have to buy tattoos on next gen which is insane, I'd rather just have refined imagery from last gen and keep them free. But now you have buy tattoos that aren't even that cool, soon not even the shoes that you use in your MyCareer regardless of endorsement are going to be free more than likely. Plus you can you buy your Myplayer stats to make your guy ultra beast and be a troll online. The fun of the game is not where it used to be unfortunately.

To end this review off I'd also like to note that no matter the difficulty you play on even if you play on Hall of Fame and get a 2X amount in VC it's still a hell of a grind to even aquire a lot of accessories not to mention paying for signature skills, as well as jumpshots, dunk packages, dribbles packages, etc. Even if you conserve that VC it goes pretty dang rapidly more then you know it. In the end I believe they need to up the amount you recieve or in the end you'll just have to keep spending money in order to afford certain things just to get IN GAME. Not outside in life IN GAME and also note that if 2K15 doesn't allow you to bring your Myplayer over just like the past NBA 2K Games then consider all that money you spent gone and now have to respend it on a new character.

Oh and I'm sorry for those who can't do the VC glitch in order to attain there MyTeam players that seem to give a lot of duplicate cards by the way. Plus the contracts that they you recieve from a pack aren't even a lot, 5 contracts is the highest it goes unlike MUT on Madden where it gives you 25 contracts for a player which is awesome. 13,000VC for one gold pack (Only one type of gold pack, unlike last gen where they had 3 gold packs each having different traits) also you only get one gold player out of the pack, so it really limits you on who you could get plus the possibilities of getting duplicates are tremendously high unless your extremely lucky.

I'm sorry if you guys hate me for spitting the truth, but in the end I'm just trying to let you know theres not much free left in that game other then the game modes and that's about it. Its a huge gripe for me and I don't know about the rest of you but I hope someone agrees with me.

What can I say I always loved 2k games except for the mlb 2k's but this game is very fun and addicting when you get used to the moves. Graphics are great and the gameplay is solid couldn't be happier with this nba game and ps stay away from nba live 14.

Honest reviews on NBA 2K14 - Xbox One

I absolutely love the 2K franchise. I've bought everyone since Sega Dreamcast. They improve majorly by giving us a story line for Career mode and MYGM is pretty sweet as well. I would suggest improvement on the story line by giving us more roads to choose instead of having it basically all the same. I would also like to see improved player creation and voice overs. Maybe give us a choice of dialogue.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey - Playstation 3

I have been a casual fan of flight simulator programs for over 20 years. Not a hard-core simmer, by any means. But I usually buy the latest iteration of MS Flight Simulator and Combat Flight Simulator and have logged more hours than I care to admit in the PC cockpit.

So I was very excited when the PS3 came out. At last, a console with the innards to handle flight simulation! Powerful CPU? Check. Great graphics chip? Check. High definition? Check. High capacity Blu-ray game discs to handle mountains of terrain data? Check.

Imagine my disappointment when, upon purchasing the PS3 two years ago, I found the flight-sim category to be virtually non-existent. The last two years have been slow to fill the gap. I got "Blazing Angels 2" and it was a joke. The irritating bravado of the characters, the silly missions, and the unrealistic physics--you could fly a plane straight up, indefinitely, until you hit a magical glass ceiling that defined the boundaries of the game--made it more like a cartoon than a simulator. HAWX was not much better.

Il-2 is different. This is an extremely well-done combat flight SIMULATOR. It is easy to learn, fun to play, and nearly impossible to master. It is the PS3 game that I have been waiting for--a combat flight simulator for grown-ups.

For starters, the whole tone of this game is different from the other PS3 combat flight sims. The presentation is understated and respectful of the historical events it recreates. There are black-and-white news-reel clips that introduce each of the "chapters," which are excellent. The "encyclopedia" gives the historical background of the events. And at the end of each of the missions is a journal entry of the character you are playing. All of this is very well done. The sober good taste does not detract from the fun of the game. It enhances it.

The graphics, too, are top-notch. There are a million tiny details that the developers got right, creating an extremely realistic landscape to fly though. The fields and hedgerows of southeast England have a believable patchwork irregularity to them. The habitations are realistic, too--with the cities organically fading into suburbs and then into farmland. Topographic features like the cliffs of Dover are convincingly rendered. And the sea and sky, what beauty! Seeing the streaked reflections of mid-summer cumulous clouds in the English Channel, a sunset reflected in the Volga near Stalingrad, or a frosty morning over Bayonne is alone worth the price of the admission. Unlike "Blazing Angels," you feel like you are flying through a real world that extends indefinitely in all directions, not a movie set.

As a bonus, the night skies are rendered accurately, too. On one night mission, I saw a familiar "V" in the sky, which I suspected was the Hyades in Taurus. Sure enough, it was. Close by were the Pleiades, Orion, and Gemini. And I soon located the Big and Little Dipper. I spent a whole mission stargazing--to the consternation, no doubt, of the bomber flight for which I was supposed to act as fighter cover.

Although the game is playable on the standard PS3 Sixaxis controller, it really cries out for a joystick. I got the $30 Thrustmaster stick and have been pleased. I would really like a force-feedback stick--to get a better feel for the control surfaces and get a jolt when hit by enemy rounds--but I am not sure the game supports force-feedback.

The game has two main single-player modes: "campaign" and "single mission." They both progress through different chapters--i.e., theaters of war. So you start out with "Battle of Britain," which has four campaign missions and a dozen or so single missions. Then you proceed through the Battle of Stalingrad, Sicily, Korsun Gap, Battle of the Bulge, and Battle of Berlin

There is a good mix of scenarios. Not every mission is a dogfight. Some involve ground attack with a fighter-bomber using rockets and bombs. Others involve providing top cover for a bomber flight. Some missions don't involve any fighting at all, but just require you to navigate to and land at different airfields. And there is just about every permutation of day/night, sunny/cloudy, summer/winter, urban/rural that you can think of. If those variations are not enough, you can create your own missions with the "training" option, where you can choose your plane, time, weather, theater, enemy planes, enemy skill, etc. The various "trophies" encourage you to explore the different possibilities that the game affords.

The developers have done an excellent job at making Il-2 playable for novices, while still retaining the feel of a simulator. The "arcade" mode gives your plane very forgiving aerodynamics (you do not get into a spin if you pull back too hard on the stick), unrealistic performance (your Spitfire can, with "War Emergency Power," exceed 500 mph--way beyond actual performance), and over-the-top lethality (a single short burst is often all it takes to down a Stuka). But it still feels real. You still have to maneuver into firing position and "lead" your target--a targeting aid helps you with that, too, though. The game is easy enough to learn that my 8-year-old son has completed several of the missions already.

If you are experienced at PC or console flight sims, it probably will not take too long to get through the missions on "arcade" mode. But that's where the fun begins. Once you move to "realistic" mode, the game takes on a different character entirely. Suddenly, your plane isn't Superplane--it's just an ordinary fighter. It takes more bullets to down an enemy, and you have to calculate the lead yourself. Your plane also becomes aerodynamically unforgiving. Pulling back too hard on the stick will stall your plane and, more often than not, send you into a vicious spin. And with just an ordinary engine, it takes some skill to get into firing position with an enemy fighter. I have just completed the Battle of Britain on realistic mode, and it was tough.

If that weren't enough, the game has "simulator" mode, where ALL computer aids are turned off. You no longer have on-screen labels or a "tactical map" showing where the enemy is. You have to use your own eyes. I haven't even been able to complete the tutorial for simulator (I keep losing my instructor and the Bf 109 I am supposed to shoot down) so it likely will be many more flying hours before I can step up to that. The game really is as difficult as you want it to be.

I suppose that any review has to include some "cons." But there are not many with this gem of a game. First, the voices in the game are repetitive, which is annoying. Not a big deal, though. Second, there is no two-player mode. I would like to go head-to-head with my son but, alas, the only multiplayer mode is online. Third, you cannot tweak the realism settings. There are only three options, Arcade, Realistic, and Simulator. Small, Medium, and Large. I would have liked an option to have retained all the aspects of Realistic mode, except for the diabolical tendency to enter into spins. Though I understand and respect the decision to simplify the interface for the general console-playing public. And I am getting better at avoiding and coming out of spins, so no big deal.

Overall, though, this was Christmas in September for me. I have annoyed my wife by staying up `til the wee hours on many nights fighting off Messerschmitts and Stukas. And the game has prompted my 8 year old to say the three magic words that every father longs to hear from his son: "Awesome kill, Dad!"

This review might be tailored for the more hardcore sim gamers. Also this is specifically and only for the PS3 version, not the PC or XB360 versions.

Just a few words to everyone else: Simulator mode is, by design, very frustrating. An actual simulation is not as much "fun" as an arcade flight game. A real WWII Era aircraft has the following characteristics: No Radar (except for dedicated night fighters and specialty aircraft, but then certainly not as luxurious as the Arcade radar!), Machine guns and cannon with a relatively short range. Only a handful of real pilots could score hits and kills at long range. Far fewer still at a maneuvering target. It takes a long time to develop a USABLE sense of lead and deflection. There were some computing gunsights that require significant training to use. The lead computer in arcade mode removes the need to train. WWII Era fighters ALL required some 'work' to fly. A major design characteristic of most of the excellent fighters was that they required less "work" trimming, fuel mix, charger settings, even compensation for high speed flight characteristics like buffeting, torque roll, some even had a complex radio I can't recall them all but this just gives you an idea. WWII fighter excellence depends on many, many skills. Aircraft development over the last 65 years has compensated to a limited extent.

Situational awareness is of primary importance. Without going overboard, situational awareness means "Where am I? Where is the Enemy? Am I threatened? Is it safe to attack? Am I losing speed? Gaining speed? Am I in a safe position? Do I have enough fuel/ammo?" This was all done with basic guages (horizon, altitude, airspeed) and the Mark I Eyeball. In 'Simulator' mode, you do not have a radar. You have to use your eyes. Your eyes are stuck in your head, and they can only look in one direction at a time. You must be comfortable with looking around constantly to maintain your awareness of your situation. You must become skilled at looking for clues in the enemy aircraft is he closing? what rate? can I maneuver? will I get a worthy shot?

You have limited ammo. A few short bursts, then done. You have one or two bombs. 6 or 8 rockets. Yes. Reality IS frustrating. If it were totally realistic, you would play for years and only get a handful of kills. Richard Bong is the top scoring American Ace of all time. He got 40 kills in World War II, all in the Pacific. Erich Hartmann is the top scoring Ace of all time with 352 claimed kills. He flew 1,404 missions. The ratio is 1 kill every 4 missions [In Hartmann's case, he had several "multiple kill" missions which means that you may fly 10 or 12 with no kills and still be on 'Ace of aces' progress...]. Understand that many pilots never got even one kill. Accept it If you are ONLY excited by kills, then a true simulator will not make you happy. Most funseekers do not want a realistic simulator. Perfectly understandable why that is.

In this case, even the 'simulator mode' is a wee bit Arcadey.

The 4 stars is because this is a fantastic console game. It still does not enter the realm of computer-realistic-flight-sim. If you have never played a realistic flight sim on a computer in realistic/simulator mode, then you will not probably fully understand my comment. No offense is intended, it is a great game, and it is a ton of fun, and it does a very good job of presenting all of the MOST FUN aspects of WWII aerial combat while minimizing the frustrating parts in Arcade and Realistic mode. It truly is an excellent balance. I think it is much more fun with a joystick, but it still isn't quite a simulator. A true simulator takes a really long time to master, and then only if you are training in a way that allows you to improve your skills.

Also, I might have given it 5 stars if it had a Kursk scenario. Kursk was not only a triumph for the Red Army, but also the Red Airforce. The Russians took much higher losses but they had more planes to spare, and they used different tactics because they realized that in general they had inferior equipment and basic ability. The PS3 game does not convey that feeling. Compare the number of Russian Aces to the number of Russian air combat casualties to undertand what I mean.

So: Great arcade action! Awesome graphics! Good feel for realism and 'simulatey' stuff graphically -4 stars!

But: Kursk? and Not Quite a sim! (again BUT Unless you are a purist you DON'T WANT A TRUE SIM)

This game far surpasses any existing flying experience previously found on any console system. It IS as close to a perfect gaming experience as I've seen. My wife yelled at me for 3 nights running because I didn't come to bed until almost dawn as I was up playing all night long.

The campaign is robust and as more players get the game the online experience will be a blast. The airfiled capture is great fun.

Flight dynamics are real enough that you'll want a stick to go with it (I bought the Hotas for $37). Even with the sixaxis/dualshock it is a hoot to play. One thing is for sure, you must get this game.

Honest reviews on IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey - Playstation 3

Sturmovik is a solid WWII game from 505 Games and worth a look if you like flight games.

Story The story behind this game is basically the retelling of personal experiences from a variety of pilots across the European theater of WWII. I wouldn't say the story is particularly compelling and the narrator has a bit of an accent which can make it difficult to understand. I assume most people don't look for a strong story in their WWII aerial shooters so no big deal.

Visuals & Sound Players should be quite content with the sights and sounds of this game. The world is bright and colorful with plenty of detail. I am pretty confident in saying that this game looks better than Ace Combat 6 and Blazing Angels. The sound is excellent with all of the exciting engine sounds and explosion effects. I noticed quite a bit of screen tearing in the cockpit view and am not sure if this is primarily a PS3 issue. There were some frame-rate issues during the more epic battles.

Controls The controls are pretty terrible and will take you quite a while to get used to. Clicking the stick to look around is awkward. Could have used customizable controls.

Gameplay This game is fun but can be slow and difficult at times. You are not flying a jet so it takes a while to get around the enormous maps. I would advise sticking to the arcade difficulty unless you really prefer more of a simulation level experience. The realistic and simulation difficulty levels are quite a challenge and you will spend a great deal of time trying to shoot down enemies.

Multiplayer Didn't try it out.

Overall this is a solid, well made game but it isn't for everyone. If you like flying games I would highly recommend this title. If you prefer more fast paced shooters like COD4 or Halo then it probably isn't for you. .

Overall this game is entertaining if you enjoy the genre. Even if you don't im sure there is plenty of fun within. The single-player aspects are extensive. Fairly large campaign with 3 different difficulties/realisms. Arcade mode makes it easy to just hop in and fly around dogfighting fairly easily. Simulation for the hardcore enthusiasts, and realistic for the in-between. Something for everyone. I find the realistic to be the perfect blend of difficult flying and adrenaline fueled fun. It really feels like im flying these planes. Cranking the throttle up and pulling some barrel rolls, stalling engines and pulling out of spirals at the last moment. I went with the recommended T-Hotas flightstick for thirty some bucks. Works pretty good. Brings me that much closer to the PC realism. All the single player missions and planes unlock as you progress. Nice training section. Huge list of trophies to strive for with a large number geared for online bragging rights I guess. Graphics and sound are as good as you currently get on the PS3 I suppose. Not 1080P I dont think, but you know what I mean. lol

I havent hit the online play yet but will this week. Probably incredibly fun dogfighting other players. The realism here will allow for legit piloting skills to prevail and dominate. There will be some people becoming feared aces in these skies. After a tough decision between this and the other recent WW2 fighter sim, I decided on this because I had actually played this company's similar title on the PC in my past. With the release of the PS3 I've decided to convert back to a dedicated console gamer. Even though consoles still havent caught up completely to PCs, it's getting fairly close. The low cost and ease of play, not to mention being able to lay back on the couch in front of a 52" HD monitor while gaming.

I give it 4 stars because in order to be a 5, it needs to blow me away. For this price, the game is well worth it and should provide a lot of enjoyment.

Bioshock - Xbox 360

I have been an avid PC and console gamer for...well, as long as there have been PC and console games, and have probably played hundreds of the darn things over the last two decades, and I can comfortably say, that Bioshock, is one of the top two or three games I have ever played, and absolutely the best console game.

It's one of those rare games, that has all of what you love about a great game, with none of what annoys you. I realized, after about 10 hours of play, that absolutley nothing was ticking me off. If there was ever a game that got everything right, it's Bioshock.

Normally, you hear much about a shooter having an "absorbing story", and you're just like: "yeah, yeah, just shut up and let me shoot you". But Bioshock, actually does. The bleak, dystopian world scenario is hardly new in gaming, but Bioshock puts a great twist on things; and the art-deco 1940's sci-fi world is very refreshing and incredibly rendered. If you are as sick as I am of endless hallways filled with crates, you are in for a helluva treat. Not only does this game look amazing, but the design is so good, and so original, that it really does "absorb" you.

The biggest suprise to me, was level of literacy, and period detail. This game wasn't really designed for modern kids, and certainly wasn't designed by one. The villian, an obvious nod to conceptual novelist Ayn Rand, ends up being more complex than the average "evil rich corporate Republican" guy we're all so sick of by now, and not only is the voice acting a-list quality, but they even speak pretty authentic 1940's dialogue, with accurate period inflection. If you watch an old movie from the 40's you'll notice that not only was the slang and colloquial language different, but so was the actual style of speech. The characters in Bioshock don't sound like modern mallrats in seersucker suits, they sound like people from the 40's. The sense of period is very accurate, moreso than most Hollywood films (although a "German" lady character has a very obiously Russian accent lol).

Even the shooting, was fabulously fun. When I first started playing, I thought "oh no..shooting old revolvers isn't fun." But don't forget, even though Bioshock takes place in the 40's, it's still a sci-fi what-if adventure, and the assortment of weapons are a gas to use. And "adventure" is really accurate. Even though it's an FPS with a fair amount of bloody shooting, it really feels and plays more like an old Sierra adventure game than a Quake-style shooter. The plot matters in this game, unlike many others, and you spend more time exploring the amazing world and solving puzzles than actually shooting, so consider that a mild warning if you are a shooting "rivethead".

Bioshock is a very long game, but it was so addicting, that I played it almost non-stop for 4 days and finished it. I actually just rented it, because normally games that are centered on plot don't have a lot of replay value for me, but this one I can imagine playing over and over, so the lack of multi-player doesnt really matter to me here. I'll be buying this sucker as soon as payday hits.

In short, the hype around Bioshock is no hype. This game even killed Half-life and Halo for me, and that's saying a lot. Halo3 is going to have a helluva climb to even get near Bioshock, and i never thought I'd say that.

To wrap-up, even though much of Bioshock's conceptual nods and references will probably sail over the heads of most modern teen gamers, it won't matter a darn. They'll be to busy being knocked out by the best visual world and gameplay mechanics I've ever seen.

I thought Gears of War was a good game, but I believe Bioshock outdoes Gears of War on multiple levels. First, the storyline is solid, I feel like I am participating in a self-directed movie, opposed to the typical experience of a weak storyline combining together sequences of violence. Second, Bioshock is not about who has the biggest gun, there is an element of strategy not found in previous FPS games with the exception maybe of Gears of War. Finally, the game is intuitive, easy to pickup. I am not a big fan of FPS games, typically enjoying games like Civilization IV, however, this game is one big exception.

Best Deals for Bioshock - Xbox 360

Having a bit of hype surrounding it before it's release, BioShock does not disappoint one bit. In fact, as far as first person shooters go, games rarely get any better than this. BioShock takes the FPS to new levels thanks to it's brilliantly realized atmosphere and setting, and a story that is so engaging you'll think that you were playing an RPG. Taking place in a secret underwater city called Rapture, you get put right in the middle as things go very, very wrong quite quickly, and it's up to you to save the day using a barrage of traditional weapons, and some newfound abilities as well. What makes BioShock so great besides the atmosphere and storyline are the character customization options which really allow the gamer to get into the game and tinker around to your advantage. The overall presentation, from the sound design to the wonderful voice acting to the grimy atmosphere, make BioShock one of the best games to hit the XBox 360 yet, and definitely one of the best FPS' to come out in quite some time. If there's any downsides to BioShock, it's that the game has a lack of enemy variety and that it is a little too forgiving to the gamer. Despite that though, BioShock is a masterpiece of modern gaming, and any and every 360 owner should consider this an essential pick up.

Honest reviews on Bioshock - Xbox 360

This is by far the most interesting, fun, adventurous game since last years Zelda for the Wii. There is so much to do in this game, you can hack into safes, invent items, shock someone in the water, use a crowbar to knock someone out, anything you want to do, you can. I didn't hear about this game until last week when Microsoft released a demo of it last week. I played the demo and immediately got hooked. I went out early this morning "21 Aug 07" and purchased this game. I have played it for roughly five hours and it has been so much fun. It's not super confusing and it's like a choose your own adventure game. The classical eery music is an added plus. If you own an XBOX 360 and you are looking for the "Next Big Game", or you just want a Phenomenal gaming experience, purchase this game, I guarantee you will not be disapointed. The only negative for me is that this game really makes other games look really bad. But that's a negative that I will just have to deal with. Now I am going to shut off the laptop and get back to playing.

Very simply put right now this game is easily the best shooter to come out for the 360 in a long time.

Not only does it have some very tense and fun gameplay.

The lighting and graphical displays shown within are pretty much second to none as of this moment.

I bought the game on midnight of the 20th/21st and immediately went home to play it. The experience of just how good the graphics are was 10 fold when I was playing with the lights off. I dont even have a HDTV and I was purely impressed by just how good everything looked.

The game also goes a long way to genuinely disturb and creep you out.

Its not the typical BOO factor like games like the Resident Evil series and maybe even FEAR. Not that that is a bad thing.

But this game tends to be creepy on a psychological level only truly experienced by playing first hand.

The idea of this underwater utopian city gone completely wrong may not be the most original idea but it is definitely executed well.

The sounds are easily the number one thing that makes the game so creepy at times. If you do get to play it, find a spot to just stand still for a moment and take it all in. You hear everything from steam pipes creaking to soft whispers of one of 2k's delightfully twisted characters coming from somewhere up ahead. And the sounds you hear aren't always necessarily right around the corner. Which is whats so great, the voices you hear may be coming from the other side of a wall or a room down the pathway.

The AI is also really impressive. They do things like run and jump into water when set on fire, they take off running when they get low on health. They attack in numbers at times making for some very frantic and fast paced combat. The number of weapons and plasmid modifications is truly something to behold. The ability to aim your electric shock at water and fry your opponents may not seem like a big deal, but when you can do that instead of wasting numerous rounds of ammunition believe me you will appreciate it much more. The weapon combos are great. You can shock and stun opponents, set them on fire, freeze them, tag them so that security drones will attack them instead of you. All the while still being able to do something as simple as a shotgun blast to the face.

I do wish cycling weapons was a bit quicker at times. Your right hand weapons are bound to the RB button and you have to cycle thru them in order to find the right one which can be annoying in times of a fast firefight. But you can easily overcome this.

Bottom line is, this one definitely has my vote for Game of the Year, or maybe Assassins Creed but that one is still yet to be seen.

Go out and buy this one if you can, it is definitely worth the price of admission.

PS3 320GB Uncharted 3 Bundle Reviews

PS3 320GB Uncharted 3 Bundle
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

Okay, the hardest part of any review to me is an introduction. I am primarily an Xbox 360 owner, and that is what I use for most online games such as Battlefield or Call of Duty. However, I can now confidently say that spending $300 for a PS3 is worth it just for the sake of the Uncharted series alone. I would literally throw down that kind of money just for these three games, something I have not done since the original Xbox when Halo came out. I played the first two games on my buddies PS3 a few years back, but only recently decided to claim actual ownership over a PS3 system with the purchase of this bundle. I like the system, its controller feels great, feels reliable (basically it doesn't feel cheap). I like the fact that the system is silent when playing games, I also like that the online is free (but I feel Xbox Live is more organized, and yes I'll admit, there is a bias to my statement, sorry guys).

I'm going to go ahead and close this review, making it a short one. Why? Because I feel I summed up that I obviously like the system and the Uncharted series. I also feel that there are already plenty of reviews that go into explicit detail over the system, online, Blu-Ray and games. If you don't own a PS3, but want to jump into the PlayStation community, while experiencing a great game series such as Uncharted, buy this bundle. Playing Uncharted has done something to me that no other game has done since Halo ten years prior or Shenmue for the Dreamcast twelve years prior, and that is spend hundreds of dollars to play one game. That comment alone I believe sums up this review and any review from any individual or game site. Uncharted is the PlayStation's Halo its "killer app", and to me, worth spending the money to experience.

I'm breaking down this review in 3 catagories which are the saving cost of buying the bundle, The PS3 System itself, and the UNCHARTED 3 game.

1. Savings as far as buying as a bundle:

This is actually a really good deal for 2 reasons. One, the PS3 320GB system normally cost anywhere new between $290 and $300 dollars by itself which means your getting Uncharted 3 (As of this writing the retail is between between $50 and $60 dollars) for free. Second, is with the cost of Hard drives having doubled and in some cases almost tripled due to the current hard drive shortage the hard drive alone is worth anywhere between $150 to $200 dollars by itself. the overall cost savings on both items mentioned more than justifies this purchase.

2. The PS3 Game Console System:

This is actually our family's second PS3, the 1st one my son got an almost pristine PS3 1st Generation 60gb CECHAxx Launch model (November 2006) from his 2 best friends as a Christmas Present, not realizing at the time what a diamond in the rough he was receiving. I'm not going to lie to you, If anybody still owns one of this original launch models and it still works, KEEP IT! They are vastly superior to these newer "Slim" Models that Sony is now selling. The reason for the additional purchase is Problems started to arise with "play time" on the PS3 with my son so I decided to go ahead and purchase one for myself and the rest of the family. With that being said, I will move on with the review of this 320GB 4th generation PS3 Slim Model (CECH-30xxB series).

The Hardware on the inside is the same reliable PS3 Hardware Sony has sold since almost after the launch of the original PS3 in North America (Once they fixed the Blu-Ray defect). Starts right up, plays my PS3 Games perfectly, works with my blu-rays, and works perfectly with my home Network. The Dual Shock 3 wireless Controller that comes with it works awesome and is easy to use. The HDMI and Sound are also equally awesome (Has to be plugged into a "amplifier/receiver" to tap into the Dolby Digital sound experience). As far as the drawbacks go there really is only 1 that stares you right in the face and that is the New "Slim" Design, It's God Awful. The Best way to describe is as my oldest son put it; "Dad, That looks Ghetto!"; However, due to its size it was easily hidden inside my entertainment center and barely noticeable to the naked eye. The only other minor problem is sometimes you can hear the hard drive on the PS3 when it's being written to and read to.

* Playstation 1 (PS1) Backward Compatibility. Updated 11-13-2012: Just FYI the AMAZON Description of the this PS3 Slim Bundle is WRONG concerning NO Backward compatibility for the PS1, I just tested Duke Nukem: A Time to Kill for the PS1 just recently (about 2 weeks ago)and it worked like a champ.

Another plus to this Game system is the feature rich applications that are available for use that come with the PS3 Standard like Netflix (monthly fee), Video & Picture Editing, Use of the PSN Network, and Internet browsing. Also Additional Accessories like the MOVE Package can be added to this system as well.

3. The Uncharted 3 Game:

For those who have played the previous Uncharted games you will not be disappointed, it bigger and badder than before. Nathan Drake and mentor Victor Sullivan are once again traveling around the world to such places as the Rub' al Khali desert, in search of the legendary lost city, the Iram of the Pillars. Elena Fisher and Chloe Frazer also return in Uncharted 3. The plot draws from the archaeology days of T. E. Lawrence.

Several new features have been included in the game, including mechanics that create gameplay situations designed to assist the losing team, improves ability enhancements and augmentations that must be purchased for each use, special abilities that are made available when a certain amount of medals has been attained within a match, and "Uncharted TV", a small video window that appears throughout the multiplayer menus, creating a video that can be uploaded to Facebook, YouTube or the XMB. Multiplayer also includes a character creation system, allowing a user to extensively customise their in-game character. Co-operative multiplayer also returns from Uncharted 2.

Other than that it's like most everybodys review of the game, graphics are aewsome, game play astounding, you will be playing for hours to play the game.

4. In Conclusion: Wether you are buying a PS3 for the first time, adding a second one, want the game and would not hurt to have another PS3, or just replacing a no longer working PS3 this is the bundle to get. I would overall highly recommend picking up.

Best Deals for PS3 320GB Uncharted 3 Bundle

It took a deployment to Afghanistan to finally break down and purchase a PS3, but I'm glad I finally made the decision.

The 320GB Uncharted 3 bundle is perfect for the adventure/action game types that really aren't interested in the Move bundle. I already have the Kinect for the 360 back home, and while neat, I found it to be a bit of a gimmick. Add in that space is a premium out here, I felt that the Move was an unnecessary premium.

I owned the original PS3 a few years back and I have to say that the fit and finish of the lighter slim doesn't seem as nice as the original (IE, satin black versus the nicer looking Piano Black) but I wouldn't go so far as to call it cheap. It seems this time around, it's just the basics, but you have to ask yourself: How often are you staring at your gaming console anyway?

I probably don't have to tell you that the graphics are on par with the 360. I haven't had the two side by side, but nothing has been so significantly better to stand out from what you'd expect from the competing console. Really these days, with an exception of a few rare exclusive games, your decision is probably more on what controller you're more comfortable with.

Speaking of controllers, the tried and true wireless Playstation controller is still mostly unchanged and feels like it could still take the beatings that most controllers do.

But that's enough about the console.

Uncharted 3 is probably one of the most enjoyable bundled games I've played since the days when Sonic 2 and Super Mario World were the standard issue. The controls are easy to pick up, the storyline is intriguing, action packed, and character development is quite good. I hadn't played the first two games, but with the plot of the number 3 installment being pretty self contained, I was able to step right in without feeling lost in the events. I likened the game to Indiana Jones or The Mummy, set in modern times. You follow the footsteps of Nathan Drake and his friends as they search for lost treasure by puzzle solving, fist fighting, and shooting their way across the globe. Throughout the game, you wonder if he also moonlights as a parkour champion, as you spend a good deal of your time climbing and making death defying leaps over obstacles in your way. The game's pace is very good at going from highs and lows, and not staying in either for too long. You may find yourself solving one of the game's many puzzles only the next to end up in an epic shoot out as you try to escape a burning building. I will say that the game is not for the faint of heart. Even on normal, you may find yourself dying... a lot. There are just certain ways to do some things and the game doesn't always reward brute force. Despite this, the single player campaign gets a 5 out of 5 in my book.

Multiplayer, for a tack on feature is actually pretty fun. I haven't tried any of the online features yet, but the split screen offers co-op modes of a separate story line, as well as deathmatch-like scenarios such as capture the flag, base defense, and survival. It's no Halo or Modern Warfare, but I'd give the multiplayer a high 3 out of 5.

So in conclusion, if you have been on the fence about the PS3, love adventure/action games, and not really interested in gimmicks like the Move, this is definitely the bundle for you.

Honest reviews on PS3 320GB Uncharted 3 Bundle

PS3 REVIEW:

I started having issues with my fat 40gb PS3 a little while ago(overheating, screaming cooling fan). I decided to buy this package because I really wanted a slim PS3 and I love the Uncharted series. The newest slim model is incredibly quiet and runs much cooler than my fat 40gb PS3. I have completed Uncharted 3 and Heavy Rain and the PS3 has hardly made a peep. I got so tired of my fat PS3 cooling fan going full blast, drowning out the game or movie sound. I love the compact size, the buttons and the lack of LED lights. I am a firm believer that a game system shouldn't be a center piece that is crying out for attention. A game system should be as concealed and unnoticeable as possible. It's the game that should have the attention. I wish I purchased a slim earlier. I love the minimalistic approach. Some have complained about the Blu-ray reader being loud. I barely noticed. In fact, if it hadn't been brought up on other reviews, it wouldn't have crossed my mind. I have put it through a lot in a short period of time and am very satisfied.

UNCHARTED 3 REVIEW:

Minor Spoilers.

I was really looking forward to this game. The reviews and the hype were all there. Unfortunately 'Uncharted 3' can't hold a flame to its predecessor. The single player campaign is much shorter and the story lacks any real depth. The bad guys are weaker and less impressive. The bonus' were lacking and the intrigue wasn't there. It has epic moments. Graphics are amazing. Acting is amazing. Just seemed more repetitive than the previous games. Similarities with movies like 'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' can't be missed. In fact, this game is almost an homage to those movies. Seemed like Naughty Dog Studio was under more pressure this time around to pump a game out. I think when Uncharted 4 comes out, I will be waiting for it to drop in price considerably or perhaps rent it.

I'm primarily an Xbox junkie longtime Halo fan, I have two 360s for 4-player coop, have logged many an hour fragging on Live with my younger brother, have poured far too much money into XBLA games and addons you get the picture.

I didn't conceive of myself getting a PS3 until the pricetag was at least sub-$200. But then, you see, a funny thing happened: my parents got a 3D TV. And I bought some stereoscopic 3D games for the 360. And I was totally blown away.

Before long, I'm looking for more 3D games like a junkie who needs to feed his habit. But shoot, I've bought all the S3D games for the 360, and... for a brief few weeks, I'm lost. In a daze. Not sure what to do with myself and the money I'm earning that I'd promised myself I'd save to finish the last year of my college education.

Except... one day, I find out the PS3 has become the PS3D. And there's a nice library of PS3D exclusives that are... well, 3D. Not just that, but I quickly find out that Shadow of the Colossus -a game I have loved for many years and will continue to love for years more -was recently re-released in glorious HD and stereoscopic 3D.

The rest of my life quickly unfolds before my eyes: I think of the girl I've loved all my life, the one I've been thinking of proposing to and I forget her instantly in favor of this black chick I'm going to pick up on Amazon for $300. I wasn't even planning on shelling out another $50 for more head, but I saw the normal 320gb model went for $300, and this bundle had a free sterescopic 3D game thrown in for the same price. Hawt.

Fast forward to now. I have beaten Uncharted 3 and SotC in S3D. Both games are astounding. Amazing. Awesome. Ridiculous. Mind-blowingly immersive. No number of adjectives will do justice. (Aside: I cannot believe that none of my PS3-owning friends ever recommended the Uncharted series to me)

My finishing statement: words cannot begin to describe how fulfilling this purchase was for me. I mean, I don't think I've felt this warm and fuzzy since watching Azumanga Daioh. This purchase is a win.

I am happy :)

Well made, cool design. Like how the rubber tips actually do deaden the clacking noise from hitting the drum pad. Also came with matching guitar skin.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

When I first got my Rock Band 2 set with the Rock Band drums (Xbox 360), I loved it but I wasn't too thrilled with "whack" sound made by the drum sticks on the drum heads even though I crank my home theater system to "11" I can still hear the "whack" which detracts from the experience somewhat. So when I saw this kit at my local K-Mart (of all places!) I picked it up.

The new drum sticks are a little fatter than the original RB drum sticks. The new ones are also made of wood but painted with a glossy black paint with a design on it. Rubber tips are fitted over the normal drum stick tips (you *can* take off the rubber tips if you want to). When playing the RB drums, instead of hearing a sharp "whack" you now hear more of a dull "thud". You also get a better bounce off of the drum head. So I recommend these if you just use the basic drum-kit without the cymbals.

Now, if you use the cymbals, I found a couple of issues. First off, because the cymbals are rubberized, you don't get as good a bounce off the cymbals with the rubberized tips as you do with the bare wood tips. Also, if you're using the original cymbal-kit for RB2, I found that hitting the cymbals at an angle the edges of the rubber tips would catch on the edge of the cymbal and start to pull the drum tips off. This is not a problem on the new RB3 "pro" cymbal kit which hang at an angle instead of straight.

The decal sticker "skin" for the guitar (a purple tiger with glowing eyes) is pretty cool and it wasn't difficult at all to put on (just work slowly and carefully). I've used my guitar with the decal for over a year and it has not worn off nor has it faded like the other reviewer mentioned.

So bottom line is that the decal is pretty cool and the rubberized drum sticks help with drumming on the main kit but is just OK when hitting the pro cymbals.

i love these sticks but the color on them transfers from the stick it self to my hands, if only the colors wouldnt fade i would have given it 5 stars.

Honest reviews on Rock Band Jam Kit - Red Koi

I bought this kit because I have some neighbors who come over to play Rockband with me, and we wanted something fun to add to our controllers. The Drumsticks this kit comes with are larger than the ones that came with the game, and work much better in my opinion (Plus are easy to grip and do not give splinters). The Guitar strap is nice but looks a little cheap, and the guitar facing is like a sticker and difficult to get right the first time. I think it should be a little less money than what it's normally sold for. But if you want something fun to add to Rockband, and you got money to burn, then this pack is for you.

Review of Strike Witches: Shirogane no Tsubasa

Strike Witches: Shirogane no Tsubasa
Customer Ratings: 3 stars

Strike Witches for the 360 is a shmup adaptation of the anime by the same name. You control three girls who fly around the screen in formation, shooting everything in your path, collecting point items, and avoiding enemy bullets. This game is region locked for Japan only; I use a Japanese 360 to play it.

There's a story mode and arcade mode (play story mode to unlock those characters in arcade mode). The story mode has cutscenes that interrupt the game every minute or so, with character still images and voice acting. It's annoying since they constantly take you in and out of the action, but they are skippable thankfully.

Shooting and dodging bullets is accomplished using dual-stick control. One stick is used for movement, and the other for shooting direction. It's simple and effective controls, no complains here.

One of the more interesting aspects is how you control three characters at the same time. You have the main character which you control, with the others following you in formation. You can change your formation style and the leader on the fly, giving a lot of flexibility to moving them around the screen. All three characters shoot at the same time, and some combinations have added effects.

You also get regenerating magic meters for all three characters, which provides extra firepower and defensive shields. I find it more useful in short bursts, to grab point items too dangerous to grab otherwise.

Scoring well is primarily affected by how many point items you grab. These change color and increase in value as you collect more.

Level and enemy designs are pretty boring, which brings the game down as a whole. I wish it had more action and less breaks; it's very obvious the game was based around cutscenes, even when you skip them. Larger enemies are made up of simple geometric shapes, and while I know this is true to the anime it's based on, it makes the game rather uninteresting to look at. Difficulty is on the easier side. Experienced shmup fans may need to up the difficulty settings for a better fight.

If you're a fan of the anime and want a game that's easy to understand and play, this may be up your alley. Shmup fans, however, may want to look elsewhere to get their fix.

Reviews of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
Let's be honest, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon sounded a bit too good to be true when it was first announced (seems fitting it was announced on April Fool's, right?). Luckily, that isn't the case. Blood Dragon is downright awesome, and it's one of the best stand alone games I've played since Minerva's Den. Why? Well, it's pretty simple. It's basically the dream 80's action film in a video game form. Part Tron, part Terminator, and part Robocop, this balls to wall action game deftly mixes the the best of 80's action films with all out with explosive game play. Let me just say that, if you have any passing interest in 80's action films, you need to play this game.

First off, while Blood Dragon essentially Far Cry 3 regarding game play, everything else is completely different. Honestly, it's the whole 80's inspiration that drove me to purchase this, and they did NOT disappoint. The basic plot revolves around Sergeant Rex "Power" Colt, who's on a mission to destroy a rogue robot army in a futuristic dystopia in 2007. He's aiming to get the chick, cause a lot of deaths and destruction, and of course, save the world from a robot apocalypse. Along the way, there are cyborgs, cheesy 80's one-liners, laser-spewing dragons, and a world that is basically an orgy of neon lights and brilliant, colorful landscapes, brought up to uncomfortable levels of rave. Oh, and they have Michael Biehn (of Aliens/Terminator fame) playing the lead role.

It's the style, and the fact that they hold NOTHING back, is why this tongue in cheek, but still genuine, love for the 80's works. It's a wild game, evoking every awesome 80's action film brought up to the most grandiose levels of sheer awesomeness. It's wild and it doesn't hold anything back. The visuals are stunning, as the game is awash with brilliant neon colors, designed in conjunction with terrific art direction that brings to mind the type of fantastic world I've dreamed about since I was watching the said 80's films. The music itself rounds out the packaging, effortlessly mixing futuristic techno with the of 80's action films such as Terminator and Robocop.

Game play wise, Blood Dragon plays pretty much identical to Far Cry 3. The only really major change is that, instead of skill trees, it's basically just a more predetermined smaller set of skills (weapons are handled differently as well, but it doesn't deviate from the original game all that much). If you played the third game, there is little you need to know about the game play. The mechanics are identical, and in truth, Blood Dragon is pretty much identical to Far Cry 3, only re-skinned to match the all out 80's wackiness. Honestly though, that's not really a pejorative; the game's style is just so wild that it proves aesthetics can provide a totally different experience. Besides, it's DLC, so what do you expect? Bottom line, if you liked Far Cry 3's game play, you will like Blood Dragon as a game without question.

Enough talk. Check out the bloody thing as of right now. Blood Dragon is definitely a surprise this year, but it's a welcome one. Far Cry 3 was definitely one of the best FPS games I've ever played, so a completely wild spin-off was more than welcome. Not too much to say here, but if you like Far Cry 3, or have nostalgia for awesome 80's action flicks, than check out Blood Dragon now. You won't regret it!

Like most people, I thought the announcement for this downloadable content was literally an April Fool's joke. Luckily, it was not. What do you get for $14.99? Oh, positively one of the best, if not THE best Stand alone DLC experience you can buy right now. Ubisoft Montreal have somehow combined the humorous nostalgia of 1980s action movies with their current Far Cry engine; to create an experience that would make Arnold Schwarzenegger wish he was young once again. To top off the look and feel, Michael Beihn (known for Aliens, The Terminator, Navy Seals) even offers his gruff voice to portray Rex Power Colt, the Mark IV Cyber Commando you control to thwart the evil schemes of your previous commanding officer. The adventure is full of one liners, crazy action situations, and just plain over the top stupidity that you can't help but love and laugh at. Even the soundtrack provided by electronic band, Power Glove, fits with Blood Dragon's look providing familiar yet needed sound queues for every situation. Although the in game cut-scenes are not what you call "current generation," they do however provide a wonderful ode to old school story telling for video games from the 80s. If you don't laugh at the Terminator or Predator references within the first 5 minutes, you must not have a funny bone within you...or you are too young to understand.

The cons:

*For PC, you have to use Ubisoft's version of DRM game management, UPlay, no matter if you are already using Steam or Origin. It's a minor inconvenience, but you can simply set it to go into offline mode after you install and register Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

*PC default controls seem off to me like Far Cry 3's did. The game feels more comfortable using an XB360 controller, even though my aim suffers this way. It's either hit or miss here.

*The game's length is considerably shorter than Far Cry 3's single player gameplay. There are no multiplayer modes within it. So if this upsets you, what were you expecting? Wait till it's cheaper if this offends you.

*Some additional objectives/side quests can get repetitive and lack variety, but somehow are still fun to do. The downside is there are no skill trees like Far Cry 3 had to coincide with your XP gain. Skills are automatically unlocked per level. Also there is no crafting. So in order to obtain weapon upgrades, you have to complete these additional missions and spend money to customize your weapons.

*The Island's look is either hit or miss. People will either complain that it's too dark, or it fits perfectly as a "neon hot pink" Tron styled environment.

*The game is pretty damn easy. Fun, but way too easy. Play on Hard for a boost in challenge.

If this was a risk for Ubisoft to create Blood Dragon, I sincerely hope they take more like this. So far the 7 hours I played of Blood Dragon have been pure 80s bliss. After 4 hours of playing it, I immediately wanted to go watch the Terminator and Robocop for the 1000th time. It's such an awesome and hilarious ode to games and movies that I loved as a kid. So, if you don't own or have played any of Far Cry 3? No problem, once again, this is purely stand alone content(2.98 gigabytes big). Did you grow up, experience the 80s and that era's movies? Also, are you a fan of first person shooters particularly open world like what Far Cry and Crysis have to offer? Then what are you waiting for? Stop reading this and download this now! (queue in Ahnold) Come on! DOOO EEEETT DOO EEEET NOOOWW!!!

Best Deals for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

This game is just awesome! If you are a fan of the 80s action flicks and their typical view of the future, then this game Is a must buy. Everything ranging from the Running Man style music to the overly subtle nods to action movies like Predator and Robocop. If any of the above interests you, just download the game already.

Honest reviews on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

While playing this game you can be be pretty much guaranteed a few things:

-You will enjoy the synth-pop soundtrack

-You will have a perma-grin from all the references and cheesiness

-You will be reminded of all the things you loved as a child, growing up in the 80s

Give this game a shot, even if you didn't like Far Cry 3...it's only $15! The mechanics and controls are the exact same as FC3, but it is, by far, a completely different experience...the music, the subject matter, the humor, the colors (oh my, the fraking colors), the action, the progression, all totally different. If anyone can agree or disagree, let me know!

The 80's theme stuff is entertaining, but the tripped out neon everything does get a little tiring on one's brain after a while. Also, the assignment of missions and the locations to go to are confusing. The game save function is also limited and weird in it's use.

Oh yes. We have a new gaming system release, which means it's time for publishers to dig through their past catalogues to release old games that won't take very long to port over. Such is the case with Rayman 3D, which is essentially Rayman 2 but with the added 3D. Here we have a port of a game that dates back to 1999 and has been ported to so many game systems (Dreamcast, N64, PS1, PS2, Game Boy, DS, iOS, etc.) that it seems a bit ridiculous to even consider reviewing the game. What's left to say? Pretty much the entire gaming population at this point has had the opportunity to play the game. I am actually one of the minority, a gamer that has never played a Rayman title, let alone Rayman 2. So I figured that since the 3DS launch titles are severely lacking, I'd take a chance and see why, exactly, the game's been ported a million times.

The gist of the story is that space pirates are invading a world called The Glade of Dreams. Led by Admirable Razorbeard, these robot pirates destroys The Heart of the World, capture Rayman and his friend Globox and generally are making a huge mess of things. Rayman escapes, is separated from Globox and sets out on a quest to locate four ancient masks, awaken some dude name Polokus and put a stop to the pirates. Somewhere in there, you also are trying to locate 1,000 Lums to give you access to new parts of the world. Not exactly the strongest story, but it does its job and takes a backseat to the action. I'd always been curious about Rayman since it was designed by Michel Ancel who would go on to create one of the better games in the Xbox/PS2/Gamecube era, Beyond Good & Evil. The framework for that game can be seen here, but Rayman's strengths lie in the gameplay.

I'm not sure if this is a compliment to the timelessness of Rayman or a critique on how little we've changed in the last ten years, but Rayman could be released today (with a fresh coat of paint, natch) and no one would probably tell that it's a game from the 90s. It's built on a strong framework of platforming, small puzzle-solving and collecting that you can still see in platforming games today. Enemies are shot at with glowing balls. You can lock on them with a press of the Left bumper and strafe while shooting at them. Platforms will be jumped on and tons of items (in this case, Lums) will be collected. Upgrades (such as the ability to swing from purple lums) will be acquired. Pretty standard stuff, even today. But Rayman has that little spark of magic that's really difficult to quantify that makes it fun. The Lums are hidden around the world and most of the time they can be very difficult to locate. If you are a completionist, Rayman 3D will keep you busy for quite some time.

The chief upgrade here comes in the graphics and 3D implementation. While you'll never mistake Rayman 3D for a new game, it does looks really good on the 3DS, especially in the little touches. Bugs will fly in the air, groups of mushrooms will reassemble themselves, butterflies will circle in the air. These little flourishes look fantastic, both on the 3DS and in 3D. This is my first game on the 3DS and the first real experience with its 3D capabilities and I have to say I'm surprised. It adds a level of depth to the game that not only looks amazing (as when the bugs fly toward the screen or when you're moving through a tunnel and the depth can be seen) but also aids in platforming, I've found. With this truly three dimensional playing field, timing jumps and knowing where to land is even easier to judge. Simply put, this definitely showcases the potential of the 3DS and I can't wait to see how games will utilize the 3D as developers have more time to devote to it and get more familiar with the hardware.

Ultimately, Rayman 3D is an excellent launch title. It's simply a port of a relatively old video game, but in some ways you wouldn't even know it. I was a little nervous, dropping my $40 on this game when it's had such an up and down history in terms of ports, but this was a very fun game that plays really well, looks pretty good for its age and showcases the potential the 3DS has in terms of 3D. If you're a fan of platformers and/or collectathons, I'd recommend Rayman 3D.

Let me start off by saying that Rayman 2 is one of my all-time favorite childhood games. In fact, back in the day I had both the PS1 version AND the Dreamcast version, which was and still is the definitive version. It had the best graphics, and utilized the greater power that the Dreamcast held in comparison to the Playstation and N64. This is both good and bad because what you're paying a full price for in Rayman 3D, is Rayman 2: The Great Escape (the Dreamcast version), with only minimal, near non-existent additions and tweaks.

First off, Rayman 2 itself is a fantastic, classic platformer. It was and still is considered one of the greatest, most imaginative platforming experiences of the late 90's, early 00's, and rightly so. Ubisoft's beloved Rayman franchise has always been known for humor, imagination, excellent, dreamlike art design, a silly, fantastical story, and solid platforming. Rayman 2 contains the pinnacle of all of these traits and is undoubtedly the best of Rayman's adventures. Unfortunately, what was considered pretty awesome in terms of control and platforming execution in 1999, may seem pretty irritating, maybe even broken, in 2011. If you approach Rayman 3D with an open mind, however, you'll have more than enough here to entertain you. It really is a classic for a reason, it's an awesome game.

The ONLY new addition here in Rayman 3D is ... well... 3-D. It definitely isn't the best implementation of 3-D on the system, but it is adequate and actually enhances the experience, even if only by a marginal amount. Butterflies, particle effects, and just those small, very imaginative touches that are characteristic of a Rayman title, are all complimented by the 3-D.

As much as I like Rayman 3D, however, I do have quite a few qualms with it. In comparision to 3DS remakes like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Star Fox 64 3D, Rayman 3D comes across as extremely lazy. There are absolutely no additions or enhancements besides a decidedly average, sometimes even mediocre, 3-D effect. There are no new graphics or audio. There are no improvements to the controls. There are no enhancements to the sound, visuals, gameplay, nothing. This is literally a 1999 Dreamcast game slapped onto a 3DS cartridge, given a 3D option, and then given a new name to pretend it's a new game, along with a new game price. That's just plain insulting to Rayman fans, and a poor treatment of loyal customers by Ubisoft, in my humble opinion. Keep in mind that I'm not like those trolls that just bash a game simply because it is a remake. I think Ocarina of Time 3D and Star Fox 64 3D are exceptional examples of what remakes could and should be and would never hesitate to recommend those games to others. Again, Rayman 3D seems hideously lazy in comparison. There are even problems in this version that don't exist in others, like big frame-rate problems that can really mar the experience with lag, which is unfortunate.

Considering the fact you can get basically get this very same game on the PlayStation, Playstation 2, Playstation Network, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Gameboy Color, PC, iOS, DS, and now the 3DS, it's hard to justify recommending purchasing this particular version new. Such lazy efforts by publishers should not be encouraged, in my opinion. If there were notable enhancements to the visuals, audio, and gameplay aspects, then I would say this is a definitely good purchase to make. This is a tough dilemma for me though, as it is genuinely hard not to recommend Rayman 2: The Great Escape, which is truly worthy of its place as one of the better video games of its time. If you have never played Rayman 2 and you have a 3DS, then I say get it now. If you have played it before, but don't have a copy, I'd say get this. If you're like me and love Rayman 2: The Great Escape, even then I'd recommend this game. However, I would say to all that if you do buy this, buy it used and cheap, because that is all this version is worth.

I picked up Rayman when I got my 3DS, and have since played it. I never played the original, so I have no feel for how faithful of a port it is, but it seems pretty dang good to me. So far I love the platforming, and the 3D is amazing to me. The butterflies and the plants come at you, and you get a true feeling of depth. This is an excellent launch game for the 3DS, I'd high recommend this.

Honest reviews on Rayman 3D - Nintendo 3DS

I remember playing the game on the Nintendo 64. What I remember the most about it, is the fact I couldn't play it, because the red mist got in the way of the actual game play. I know that this possibly wasn't a problem for some of the people who played a ton of video games and were simply good at playing these games, but this made it frustrating for me, because I really wanted to play this particular game.

So then, I heard that it was coming out on the 3DS. It was the first game I got that was geared for this particular system, and I found myself playing for quite a few hours at a time. I also didn't have the red mist blocking my view, and the game sped up as I was able to determine where I needed to go and what I had to do, simply by seeing. I finally got to enjoy this game and its game play for what it is worth.

Of course, the removal of the red mist may not be favored by some of the gamers, who felt it added an actual challenge to the game. I still like that it was done. I also like the three dimentional graphics that were added into it, thanks to the system upgrades. For me, it is a replayable game, and not one that I am likely to ever trade in.

Are they ever going to release a new Rayman game? This is just a 3DS port of Rayman DS, which is a DS port of Rayman Revolution, which is a PS2 port of the DreamCast's Rayman 2. It's just the same game ported over and over. I love the game, It's still fun to play, and despite what some others here said, I think the graphics are very nice for a DS game.

I just saw this at the game store and thought I was buying a new Rayman game.

Isn't too much of a review to write on here.

The box says 100 MS points, however, as previously stated, there are 400 points. The headset is not like the old one, where the mute button is close to the controller so you can easily switch the mute on and off. The mute button is on the cord, which I find very awkward to use during live game play. The previous reviewer stated that there was an echo, I'm not expert but i think that's due to having your TV too loud, I don't know.

If your going to play online then this kit is just right for the money. After a while your headset will go out. So when you buy this kit, it comes with a headset. Not like the oringinal headset, But it works very well. Good deal!

The 3 months of XBOX Live is definitely a must have, though the headset is most definitely sub-par. I ended up throwing it away after a few days as the volume level was unresponsive and the mute button remained constantly engaged, even when it was supposed to leave an open channel. I would probably recommend biting the bullet and getting the wireless headset and getting a 1 year XBOX Live Gold separately for $49.99, that is a much better deal than this bundle.

The only real bonus is the 400 points that comes with the package, I enjoyed being able to purchase some new downloads for Rock Band 2 without spending too much.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Live 3 Month Gold Kit Subscription

First of all, when i had the original Xbox i never tried LIVE because i didnt have a good net connection at the time(sbc yahoo dsl ewww) ..then came along Comcast's high speed internet service, then i got hooked up.. finally great net . it made me think of xbox live more.

then came the xbox360 launch, like millions of people who got a unit. i FINALLY tried the xbox live service..and man was i hooked! try playing halo 2 and 3 on this, same with gears of war 1 and 2...you wont regret it!

want to do a beat down ? try playing dead or alive 4 or street fighter online...its a great stress reliever. just watch out for that guy(or Girl) that spend their whole day on line you.ll get your rear handed to you on a platter...but thats part of the fun to a point ..think of it as your own arcade. remember those back in the day? (80s kid here)

Microsoft gives you numerous options to try out their xbox Live service. for me i tried the 3 month plan(but i know ill get the yearly membership now!)

i reccoment getting the gold membership, because not only do you get the option to play against people online ,you also get the option to download bonus game content for live enabled games such as weapons, maps(game backgrounds etc) or even characters, and lots more.

... you also can download arcade and classic games such as castlevania, pac man, Street fighter and my fav the original TMNT 1989 arcade game. these are done with microsoft points you get 400 included in this pack(game money think of it like that) i know some people gripe about this but hey thats a part of life, and its not that bad.

also included is the headset to chat up and trash talk your opponants...its well built, but the sound echos a bit. personally i prefer not using the headset its distracting sometimes, but its there is you want it.

sure sony, and nintendo have online services (im also a sony online member for my ps3 ) i hear that the Nintendo wii service is a joke...then again so is the wii.(nintendo USED to make great systems)

Microsoft has the best layout of all the online services i was up in running in less than five minutes...it adds SO MUCH dimension to your xbox 360 experience..its worth checking out.
