This mouse rocks, The three fire button is great for any game, I play BF2 and BF 2142 and I use the button all the time.

This thing looks great and the cord is so small it feels like it is cordless! Changing DPI on the fly is great when you are scoped in and cant aim as fast or your in a TOW and you turn the DPI up and now the TOW swivels like some one sprayed WD40 on it in game! I have tested a lot of mouses and this is the best one yet!

I initially had issues with the mouse maintaining connection with my computer. I found a software application from Yahoo that kept disconnecting it. I decided to give this mouse a go by a recommendation from a friend. I wanted something durable, high performance, and without all the flashy lights and such.

This mouse is exactly that. The performance is much better than I anticipated. It has a great rubberized feel to it. There are also rubbery ribs down the left side to increase your grip. Feels very comfortable. The tracking is fantastic. Very very smooth, and depending on your dpi setting it can be very fast. It really helps in FPS as it makes turning and aiming very smooth and accurate.

Worked out of the box with Windows 7. Didn't install the drivers as they where not needed. The side buttons have a nice rubber feel to them. They are very responsive and right where they need to be. The main buttons respond very fast as well.

The mouse looks great. Matt with gloss black highlights. The dpi button changes color depending on the dpi settings you use. Nice and subtle. Build quality is probably the best I've seen. I sort of wish the cord was a softer material, but it doesn't get in the way, and is very thin. Seems durable so it was probably the right choice. Highly recommended.

This product is meant to be used on PC. I tried to transfer data from my old Xbox hard drive to the new one using an Xbox 360 slim. I did not receive any pop-up message when I connected the transfer cable. Thus, I had no way of transferring data to my new hard drive. Just to be sure, I went to the xbox storage menu (system). The transfer cable showed up as a usb (no id or text beside it, just a picture of a grey usb). The only way to get it to work was to configure the device as a compatible xbox 360 usb using the "Configure Now" option. DON'T DO THIS, IT WILL FORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE LEAVING YOU WITH AN UNDETECTABLE HARD DRIVE. THE HARD DRIVE WILL NO LONGER WORK AS AN OFFICIAL XBOX 360 HARD DRIVE. IT WILL ONLY BE DETECTED THROUGH THE USE OF THIS TRANSFER CABLE. THIS WILL ONLY GIVE YOU UP TO 32GB OF STORAGE WHEN YOU COULD HAVE UP TO 320GB INSTEAD. Although this device isn't meant to be used as a transfer cable on an xbox 360, you can use this cable to connect internal laptop hard drives (2.5 inch drives)externally. Basically, you can use an old internal hard drive as an external portable hard drive. Just format your old drive and it will show up like any other external WD HDD. Overall, this product will not transfer data between hard drives on your xbox. But the product is good at completing other tasks. There might be a way to transfer data between hard drives using a third party program like Xplorer 360 (its free). You will need a specific Xplorer 360 application for your hard drive. There is an Xplorer 360 320gb version along with 20gb, 60gb, 120gb, and 250gb versions. I would need Xplorer360 320GB edition for my 320GB (not an official microsoft product) hard drive. I haven't tried this method but I believe it could work. Its too late for me to try this method because I already used the "Configure Now" option on my 320GB hard drive. After formating my useless drive on my PC using the transfer cable, my 320GB drive is just another internal/external drive that can't be used on an xbox. Btw, I tried HDDHACKR. Its not compatible with my Samsung/Seagate hard drive because HDDHACKR only supports WD HDDs (mostly Scorpio versions). After a few hours of browsing and searching, I couldn't find a solution to fix my hard drive. There isn't a safe and effective way of hacking a Samsung/Seagate hard drive to work on an xbox 360/xbox 360 slim. I know i went off topic but I just wanted to warn you and let you know about what problems you might have encountered. Sorry for the long review, I hope I helped or prevented something... :)

I watched a video of a developer playing the game quite a while back and had forgotten about Just Cause 2 until the demo was released on Xbox Live for Gold members. All those memories of amazement while watching that video came flooding back into my head. The game is just plain fun from the moment you put the disc in. Only have 30 minutes to spare? Put the disc in your Xbox and you can roam free around the entire 35 square mile world and pretty much do whatever you want to whomever you want instantly. No time for completing a mission? No problem! Go grapple onto a chopper, shoot the gunner,throw the pilot out and steal that joker! Perform your own Shock and Awe campaign for those precious 30 minutes of gaming you have.

The game is totally unrealistic but I do not want to play "Real Life Simulator" as I do that everyday. The controls of the game can be a bit tricky at first but you will get the hang of it; especially if you do some tweaking to the X and Y sensitivity settings in the options menu. The camera however can be a bit frustrating at times. The camera will sometimes recenter itself when you do not want it to and there is no way to turn auto centering on/off. The camera only has these issues when you get really, realy close to a building/cliff or while controlling a vehicle. I have trained myself not to touch the right stick while controlling a vehicle and that has helped a lot. If you read the manual it tells you that while using your parachute to steer with the left stick and only make minor corrections with the right stick. That information should be in the game because it is very important to getting very skilled at parasailing. The minor camera and control issues are why I took off one star from the overall game rating.

If you have any doubts about this game then I highly recommend checking out the demo on Xbox Live if you are a Gold member. If the demo does not sell you on the game then do not buy it. For those of you with a PC that has a decent graphics card you may want to purchase the PC version of this game instead, since the Xbox version does not offer any multiplayer features. The controls would probably be much better with a computer.

Sandbox games have really advanced in the past few years, especially since the clones of GTA were released. Just Cause 2 is what I'd call the latest incarnation of the sandbox game. It is based on a fictional island nation in Southeast Asia, where you are looking for a rogue agent. Your task is to get in with the local revolutionaries and understand the big picture in Panau.

Main Points

Positive

-Insanely large, multi-faceted open world

-Many different vehicles; planes, tanks, helicoptors, bikes, cars etc

-Graphics are generally good and very believable

-Pretty large weapons cache

-Grappling hook and parachute makes the game feel like a 007 movie

-Black market feature allows you to purchase vehicles and weapons anywhere on the island

Negative

-Game is difficult even on casual

-Ammo goes quickly, leaving you on a constant hunt for bullets (and health)

-Main storyline is really short, probably 7-8 hours

-Many sidequests and challenges are cookie-cutter and can get repetitive

-Vehicles are far from realistic i.e. cars don't handle well, planes are slow

The size of the playable area of Just Cause 2 is mind-bendingly large. It is claimed to be 400 square miles according to the scale. And I'm inclined to believe it. The map is so diverse, expansive and realistic. There are numerous airports, military bases, settlements, skyscrapers and cityscapes to name a few. In fact, there are 368 distinct locations to explore on Panau. Topography is impressive as well, including hundreds of miles of coastline, mountains, deserts, rivers, jungles and even a Zeppelin which has a night club underneath. My only real qualm with the map is that it is so big that even with planes it will take you a good 10 minutes to traverse the full map. This makes use of a car almost pointless.

Gameplay 7 of 10

As an agent for some secret US security team you are basically the best at what you do, which is apparently cause havoc. You're equipped with two very important items: a grappling hook and an infinite number of parachutes attached to your back. Any number of things can be achieved with the parachute/grappling hook combo. You can shoot far away from yourself and pull out the parachute launching yourself into the air. You can scale a mountain with only the hook. You can attach the hook to enemies pulling them towards you. It allows for a very creative gaming experience. This is what separates Just Cause 2 from other similar sandbox games. In fact it makes me think of a James Bond movie every time I jump out of a plane.

It's clear, however that the developers fully intended for you to do A LOT of piddling around the country, because there are only seven main storyline missions. The number of sidequests with the local guerrillas is probably around 100. These take maybe 10-15 minutes each. The problem with the sidequests is there are so many that they start to run together and can get really repetitive. If you really want to explore in depth (and get the achivements), you'll go to each settlement and cause chaos. This includes destroying any number of government installations such as fuel tanks, SAM sites, statues, radars, generators you get the picture. A bunch of achievements are associated with "finishing" a settlement. This means getting all the parts located in the settlement and destroying everything necessary.

My biggest problem with the game is definitely the difficulty of the game, which is considerable in my opinion. There are four levels of difficulty and I'm on the lowest one casual. On most shooter games, the lowest level of difficulty means that I'll never die. And I've been killed at least a dozen times by enemies. You'll be swarmed constantly. That's not the ridiculous part either. I've been killed that many times with the fifth level of armor equipped. It appears that even though I've leveled my armor, that it really doesn't provide any extra protection. The same thing seems to happen with the guns. Leveling them up is so marginal, that you'll have to take the weapon to the max level to notice the difference. What really bothers me is this: you have four levels of heat or your wanted level. The number of guys that attack you isn't based your heat level. You'll face basically the same amount of enemies on level 1 as on level 4. The only real difference on the higher levels is that they'll pursue you more.

Vehicles 7 of 10

This part of the game definitely needed more work. Though there are 104 different vehicles including planes (some armed), tanks, helicopters and cars. Many of them have control problems. Sports cars are touchy to the point of being almost impossible to drive at high speeds. And the weight of the vehicles is far from realistic as even hitting a small bump could send your vehicle hurling end over end. That being said, there is a great variance of the types of vehicles you can drive and what can be done to them. One of the more impressive parts of the game was the ability to upgrade vehicles and weapons via the Black Market. As you go through the game you'll find vehicle parts and weapon parts which can be used to increase speed, handling, acceleration etc. But only the vehicles on the Black Market list can be upgraded, which is less than 20 total.

Along with that, the air vehicles are astonishingly slow. I figured out that the fastest plane on the game will only do about 250 mph. You might say it's fine for a game, but until you see the size of the map, you won't understand.

Graphics 7 of 10

Visuals on the people in Just Cause 2 are average, probably at best. But the rest of the map is gorgeous. Textures are very detailed and have the brilliance of a plethora of colors. Water in particular has a reflective quality I've only seen in a few other games. In fact, the ocean floor is littered with rocks, seaweed and reefs. The most amazing part about the graphics is that there are no loading times while you're just walking around the island. Animation is very smooth and for the most part realistic.

Conclusion

Just Cause 2 takes the size of a sandbox to levels never before reached. It is a fun mess around game where you could drop hours just exploring or just do a couple of missions and quit. The sheer size of the map is something that anyone who's into sandbox games should see. So here's the gist of it: very good weapons cache, ability to upgrade vehicles and weapons, grappling hook and parachute make the game quite unique, tons of stuff to do and beautiful scenery as well. Unfortunately, the sidequests can get repetitive and the difficulty will definitely turn more casual gamers away. Also, most of the non-flying vehicles seem almost superfluous because of the size of the map. So it's not a perfect game by any means, but has probably a good 50-70 hours of playtime which not a whole lot of games can say they have.

Best Deals for Just Cause 2 - Xbox 360

Sequels for video games have a better reputation than say movie sequels. Many of the most innovative games ever made (Mario 64, Grand Theft Auto 3, Final Fantasy VII) were of course sequels. Indeed in this generation we have seen many sequels improve upon their original outing (Assassins Creed 2, Mass Effect 2). These games succeed by fixing many of the niggling issues, that made the first game less than perfect, while still keeping the tone of the original piece.

Even among these improved sequels Just Cause 2 stands out. The original Just Cause could neither be called beloved nor all that terribly well received. Calling the first Just Cause a flawed open world game with some fun bits would be the kindest of labels. Nobody certainly seemed to be clamoring for a second go. When Just Cause 2 was delayed from an Christmas 2008 release date to 2009 and eventually 2010 there was no gnashing of teeth. Many expected it to never be released or at the very least, to be an under the radar, by the numbers rehash.

So when Just Cause 2 was finally released it was a jaw dropping shocker. Here was the open world Michael Bay movie we all wanted (even if we didn't know it). In fact Just Cause 2 nails two factors with such perfection mere words simply cannot do it justice.

The first is the open world itself. In the somewhat crowded field of open worlds to explore the island of Panua is simply a standout. In fact it is simply the best open world ever designed. (Knocking Oblivion and Grand Theft Auto IV out of the top spots). It is huge. It has everything from snow capped mountains to rally style deserts to Tarzanesque jungle to coral reefs. What is more impressive is that it is truly three dimensional. Unlike many open worlds you can fly anywhere up to a mile high or dive anywhere a few hundred feet below the surface. The travel is seamless and the graphics are jaw dropping gorgeous.

If the open world is the star of the show the dual-grappling hook is the love interest. Words again simply fail to describe the eventual joy one gets from use of this tool. With a grappling hook one can tie enemies to trees, fling oneself through the jungle like some parachute wearing Tarzan, hijack any vehicle in the game (including 737 passenger jets), and fulfill your Spider-man fantasies than any Spider-man game can.

Alas like any Michael Bay movie the plot itself is a throwaway. You play Agency Agent Rico Rodriguez being dropped into the South-east Asian island nation of Panau. Panau has taken over by Kim Jong Il doppelganger Baby Panay, who assassinated his father, institutes a hilariously propaganda filled regime and cuts off all ties to the US in favor of eventually revealed evil foreign powers. Your mission is to oust Panay from office, as well as track down your mentor from the first game Tom Sheldon, whom the Agency fears has gone native while on the island. To achieve all this you ally yourself with the three dominant criminal gangs on the island: the Roaches, the Reapers, and the Ular Boys.

In other words you blow stuff up to unlock criminal gang missions (which honestly consist of blowing stuff up)to finally unlock Agency missions (which also consist of blowing stuff up).

Fortunately blowing stuff up (like shooting super-mutants in slow-mo while playing Fallout 3) simply never gets old. In fact the game gets more enjoyable the longer one plays it. As one becomes more comfortable with the grappling hook-parachute mechanic, learns which cars to avoid, and realizes that the developers really did think of everything. The Island of Panua becomes an increasingly enjoyable experience.

The Nitpicks

Anytime I gush uncontrollably about a game it only seems fair to point out those few niggling problems that others may have noticed.

Vehicle Control: With over a hundred vehicles in the game it is no surprise some are better than others. With cars one will find their comfort zone between the Tuk-Tuks that can't seem to make it up hills and the overpowered Titus ZJ Cabriolet sports cars that cannot seem to go two hundred yards without flipping over. Cars in general handle well as do motorcycles and boats. Helicopters in particular are a joy to control... and that is an awfully good thing to since planes are the definite fly in the vehicle ointment.

For some reason developers decided to control planes with only the left stick. How does one fly a vehicle in three-dimensional space with a two dimensional control? Very poorly it turns out. Fortunately, outside of one mission where your jet fighter has to shoot down a rocket in flight, this really doesn't come into play if you do not want it to.

The Story and Voice Acting. I finished the main story without really finishing the game. In fact I was only 22% done when the final credits rolled. (In the games defense It did take me 33 hours to get to that point.) Needless to say many of the Easter eggs, Mile High nudie bars, Japanese WW2 soldier encampments and the island from the TV show Lost will have to wait till my next play through.

While clearly Just Cause 2 has an insane amount of content (There is an achievement for 75% completion but none for 100% ) I do wish the story had been a little more... well there. The criminal gangs you do missions for could have also been a little better drawn as they all seem to blend together (Think the gangs in Saints Row 2 as an example of gangs done right).

The voice acting is universally awful. If it is so bad its good is truly a personal judgment. (I vote for no). Who gives the worse performance in Just Cause 2 is a game one can play with ones friends. The popular choice around here is Bolo Santos' G-Man like Singaporean accent as leader of the Reapers, but I am inclined to give the prize to Tom Sheldon's massacre of a Texas drawl.)

Ironically even though you are forced to play with a fixed character throughout (A common complaint I have with Rockstar open world games) the sheer lack of story and personality actually negates my usual complaint of being unable to "roll my own".

Some others have complained about the lack of ammo (and general difficulty) in the beginning of the game, the loose gun-play (which once you get used to it works rather well) and the fact they want a pony.

Generally these complaints (outside of the pony one) are negated as one gets used to the controls, upgrades their weapons, and discovers the myriad ways one can use the dual-grappling hook. The game really does improve with time and I am chomping at the bit to try another go (at a higher difficulty level no less.)

Just Cause 2 is in the running to be my Game of the Year (against some pretty hefty competition) and is simply a must by for any action fan.

Ok. If you researched "What is the best free-roaming game for xbox 360?" You'll probably get Fallout 3 or some other sellout (ha) as the answer. Don't even think about trusting them. If you want awesome explosions, a huge map, smart AI, varied landscapes, grappling hooks, giant cities, tiny villages, huge military bases, and Military Strongholds, not to mention awesome stunts, James Bond action, cool weapons, skydiving, hijacking, sweet chases, or sunsets (weather :D), then you should SO get this game. Believe me. It may be totally underrated, but it IS the best free-roaming game out there. And, no sexual content(except Mile High Club), no one TAKING drugs, or too much alcohol, or too much frustration or difficulty (there is some). So, to summarize, you should get this game.

Take Just Cause 1 and improve almost everything and you have Just Cause 2. From great visuals of deserts, snow mountains, jungles, beaches, oceans and towering skyscraper cities, this game looks great.

The controls are improved for vehicles too. And they sound crisp and realistic (great sound from the weapons, explosions, overall sounds too). Only thing I miss is the ability to zoom into a first person view. There's only a distant 3rd person view, which takes away a lot of the impact of "Being right there with the vehicle". It's more like "Watching a toy vehicle from a birds eye view". This is most evident when flying a helicopter or plane. Too far away to really feel like you're flying it. More like a Remote Control toy.

And the grappling hook/parachute combination as you've probably read is a huge reason to buy this game. You can be out in the middle of a flat desert (think Red Dead Redemption's vast drylands), and within two quick moves, be up in the air. How? Aim the grappling hook at a point ahead on the ground, tap the hook button, slingshot automatically towards that point and quickly press the parachute. You can continue this flight without ever touching the ground by using the momentum from grappling the ground from the sky. Great stuff and more effective than most vehicles for escaping enemies.

On foot, the gunplay is solid, with a welcome return of the over the shoulder camera for some great "right in the game" action.

The missions are mostly fun and varied, but learning how to use the new control features on the first mission took some trial and error. After the first hour of missions, you're free to explore everything. And most of the time, as long as you don't shoot in public, no one will attack you. No more constant helicopters flying over every 2 minutes either thankfully.

There's not many interiors, but climbing a skyscraper "Bionic Commando" style is plenty of fun, and jumping off the top with a running leap, even better. For skydiving, few games deliver an experience like Just Cause 1 and 2. Just wish there were a few stunts thrown in, like a cannon ball, fast spins, and more.

If you're an explorer, this game delivers one of the largest worlds ever made for an on foot/vehicle game. Think Test Drive Unlimited and Fuel in terms of size, much like Just Cause 1. And plenty of nice variation, though the small villages are a bit dull with not many interiors. Not much to complain about, with plenty of options to adjust (unfortunately, almost everything but control mapping). It does feel like an improved version of the first game, but that's also a good thing. It's a sequel after all.

So with such a giant world (with a nice day/night cycle and weather), what is there to do? walk, run, sprint, jump, duck, roll, grapple, parachute, skydive, fire weapons, drive, fly aircraft, cause havoc, explore, side missions, story missions and plenty more. Overall, Just Cause 2 may deliver more of the same, but twice as good. If you're a fan of the first and want another world to explore with Rico, this game delivers like few others. Excellent and recommend to exploration/action fans.

The XRAY is spec for spec identical to the XP400. It's an excellent headset just like the XP400. The minor changes are all cosmetic. Besides the COD branding the LED's on the receiver are orange along with the power LED on the headset. They look pretty nice actually, and are a pleasant change from the typical blue. The mic features a polished stainless steel guard on the end along with pleather ear pads and a stitched pleather headband. Small touches that surprisingly make it appear more upscale. Shiny orange plastic bands accent the ear cups instead of green. That's it. The rest of my review can be applied to either the XRAY or the XP400.

Fit: The headset is relatively lightweight for a wireless type, and is comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. The ear pads provide excellent noise cancellation. However, I prefer the mesh foam used on their other headsets. These tend to stick to your skin if you're a hot head. 4/5

Setup: The receiver plugs into a USB slot on your 360 along with a fiber optical cable for Dolby Digital sound. A digital out is provided to daisy chain to your receiver in case you're not using HDMI. It also has an analog (mini plug) line-in if you want to listen to music wirelessly through the headset. The headset is charged (about 2 hrs) via an extra long USB cable, and can be used while the unit is on for uninterrupted gaming. The headset is pre-paired with the receiver from the factory, so once your connections are made all you have to do is power on your 360 and the headset and its ready to go. Pretty painless. 4/5

Sound: This is where it matters most, and the XRAY does not disappoint. The Dolby Digital processing is excellent with great positioning and wide separation. For a headset with only one large driver per ear it sounds pretty darn good. I can hear everything the sound designers intended you to hear in a virtual 3D space. Some Dolby Digital games I've tested these with are BF3, Dead Space 3, and COD Black Ops II of course. All sound incredible.

The headset features 4 EQ presets that sound strangely similar to one another. Flat, Bass Boost, Treble Boost, Bass and Treble Boost. I prefer setting 4. A common question is "Can these things bump?". I'll say the bass response is great. Grenades in BF3 or COD will rattle your ear drums thanks in part to the large 50mm drivers.

A big issue in the past with 2.4Ghz wireless headphones was interference. This led to annoying pops, clicks, and outright disconnection. This has finally been resolved with the dual 2.4/5Ghz receiver. After hours of gaming I've heard no interference, and I'm in a household dense with wifi use.

There are several surround angle presets that can selected depending on the 3D environment you prefer. Generally this is only found on the expensive flagship models that are programmable, so its nice to have some control on the positioning. Overall sound, 5/5

Turtle Beach claims 15 hrs of play time with these, and I can attest that their claim is accurate. I rarely find myself charging these. Lithium Polymer FTW!

The Blast Limiter feature I see as kind of a gimmick. It has multiple settings for its intensity, but I can't hear much of a difference. Maybe its just me, but it hasn't saved my ears from loud explosions.

The mic monitor allows you to hear yourself and is adjustable. It works. There's also an independent chat volume, so you can balance it accordingly with game audio.

The built-in Bluetooth is dual pairing, and works like the old ear pieces you hardly see anymore. This was primarily designed to be used with the XBA bluetooth adapter to allow wireless chat from the 360 controller. Unfortunately, its not included in this edition. Ya, really. You'll have to spend another $30 for the adapter. Although I have used it with the XP400, and it works great. A true all wireless solution.

Overall, this is an excellent wireless surround headset, and if you can score a deal because of the COD branding I highly recommend it. Otherwise, go with the XP400, which is roughly the same price and includes the bluetooth adapter.

This headset is great. Great sound, built well, good mic, easy install. I got these when my tritons broke. And I am so much happier. For one no cords stretching from my tv, and two the mic on the tritons sucked, I always play with friends and when they miss things I say it drives me insane. No problems with the TB, they hear everything I say. The sound quality is great but so were the tritons so I can't say they are better in that area, I feel like they are but it all comes down to personal preference. The only thing about these TB is the headband, it is huge, I have a lg head, L, XL hat size and I have the headband on the smallest setting and they just fit my fat head, if I wear a hat to play they are perfect, if I don't then they become uncomfortable after about an hr of playing. But otherwise I have found nothing wrong with them. I play with the, every night for about 5-6 hrs for about 4 months now. I hope this was helpful to you guys.

This headset is very good for the money.

The wireless works fine and it can be used in many ways.

It has a 3.5mm input for anything you want and then a opt. input.

You can however use the headset in Bluetooth mode only and listen in that way, although the sound is not great.

I am using these for my ps3 xbox 360 and Bluetooth on my laptop to not bother the wife when in bed.

Also the part that goes over your head is great because it is a little forward on your head.

That makes lying in bed with these on perfect.

I am a huge Amazing Race fan and that is probably why I liked this game at all. First thing people should be aware is you need two people to play this game. There is no option to play as an individual so while I got it a few days ago, I had to wait until today before my husband and I were both free to play. It should be noted that as of the writing of this review, I have only played through once (11 legs) on the easy mode. Within those 11 legs, several of the challenges for roadblocks, intersections, fast forwards, etc. were repeated. How disappointing that they could not come up with enough different challenges to give you a new one on each leg of the race. Also, the challenges often had nothing to do with the part of the world you were in (I was throwing tomatoes at people on three different continents). Most of the games were easy (of course I was playing the easy mode) type puzzles. Oh what they could have done if only they would have made this compatible with a mat or the balance board so some of the challenges could have been physical. Another drawback was that each leg had a plane trip (you pick the fastest plane you can for the money you have) and a car/taxi/bus ride (again you are looking for the fastest, leaving the earliest that you can afford). By the 11th leg I was dreading doing those for the 21st and 22nd time and was actually ready to be done with the game. What about a boat or bike or have there be a way where you can use the wii remote to run through the streets. Hard to believe people got paid to create this game and this was the best they could come up with. Why did I give it 3 stars then??? Because I LOVE the Amazing Race and this was definitely made from the television show. You do see characters from the other teams, Phil Keoghan's voice is narrating, some of the challenges are fun, and seeing the little plane take you to a new country is neat. I did not hate the game, but will probably only play it a few more times before it joins my pile of dust collecting wii games.

I posted this review on my blog and on Gamefly (a video game rental service) and was shocked to see one review give such high praises. I wonder if they are still playing it? Here's my opinion of the game:

Being a fan of the tv series "The Amazing Race" I was looking forward to this video game but was let down by its gameplay.

First of all, the game is only a 2 or 4 player excursion. You can technically play this game by yourself using two Wiimotes though.

You begin the game designing a profile (up to 4 profiles can be saved), customizing your avatar characters and then you have access to the main menu, either playing Adventure Mode (2 Players) or Party Mode (4 Players).

Adventure Mode has three different length options: Tour (5 Legs), Journey (9 Legs), Race (11 Legs). Just playing Tour takes about 20 minutes. There's three difficulty options to choose from, and then the mode starts.

Basically, this mode consists of going to different locations and playing mini games. You don't really explore any locations, you just see picture slideshows of the locations. The mini games consist of a variety of types, such as match certain pictures, finding certain items, etc. After the mini-game is over, you go through a travel selection screen to your next destination where you select the best travel option.

There are some mini-games that are single player only (Road Block) and many mini-games do require knowledge of geography and basic math skills. Luckily much of the geography data can be unlocked in the Race Journal feature available in the main menu. So each leg consists of playing mini-games, and then traveling to the next leg. This process is repeated and can get very repetitive.

Perhaps the best feature is unlocking video clips from the tv show. There are 32 clips to unlock requiring certain things achieved from the game.

I was not able to play Party Mode (as I don't have 4 Wiimote controllers), but I'm guessing it's similar. Perhaps one of the most annoying things about the game is the frequent loading screens that you will be faced with. Overall this game is just worth a rental. It could have been so much better.

Pros: Authentic music from the tv series, likeness and voice of Phil, video clips you can unlock from show.

Cons: Many loading screens, no true single-player experience, repetitive mini-games, gameplay gets tiring quick.

If you enjoy amazing race, you'll probably like this game. I was disappointed that you couldn't import Miis into the game. You have to use pre-fabricated characters, there aren't too many to choose from. The graphics could be a little better, but are average-maybe a little cartoony. The challenges are really varied from a very simple one to a really difficult one. One of the challenges requires you to pump up balloons with an air pump & it seemed challenging for my mom. (She decided to do that Roadblock). The one I tried was a lot easier; so it may be too easy for some & harder for others. The sound is a little on the low side, but that's a minor flaw.

We just purchased and played this game... once. No one in my family has any desire to play it again. It's that poorly made. It could have been so much better if it had been more like Wii Sports Resort, where you control your avatar in doing challenges and running to the mat. Instead, it's a bunch of silly puzzles and overly simplistic activities (like counting down from 15 to push a button to "simulate" sky diving). My family expected so much more! There could have been rapelling, hang gliding, bungee jumping, skiing, kayaking, etc. Waste of money and total letdown. I wonder if GameStop will buy it off us?

I purchased this as a present for my daughter who is a big fan of the show. She took about 15 minutes to declare it boring. I thought she was not giving it a chance and gave it a try myself and quickly agreed. The many screen loads are simply unacceptable for any game. This detracts from the game experience to such a degree that I would give it a 1 star for this reason alone. There is not a single person play mode, which I find strange. Bottom line if you are a diehard fan of the show, you'll be disappointed in the flow of the game. If you are not a fan of the show, there is not much merit in the game at all.

I have a perfectly functional cable, which works great when used with an HDMI cable, but it took about 5 minutes of soldering. If you aren't comfortable with this, don't buy this product, as it likely won't work correctly out of the box. If you do purchase, you can fix it by following the steps below.

NOTE: If you break your Xbox, it's your fault and only your fault. If you burn your house down or your finger with a soldering iron, it's your fault and only your fault. Proceed at your own risk.

1) Check the cable... there is a chance it will be wired correctly when you get it. If so, lucky you :-) Make sure you try changing the TV HDMI input to another input, then back to the XBOX. If the XBOX resets, sorry, you need to plug in your soldering gun.

2) Open the plastic on the end of the plug that goes into the Xbox. You might need to tape it closed later, as it tends to break. Not a huge deal, as this won't kill the plug, just make it a little less attractive. Set it aside.

3) Remove the copper outer casing on the plug. This is the trapezoid thin metal outer part of the plug, with no wires connected to it. Slide it off the end of the plug by inserting a blade to release the two plastic tabs in the rectangular holes. Try not to damage this part if possible. Set it aside.

4) Get lined up to which pin is which. You need to focus on pins of even numbers 18 30. I have added a customer image to the product for reference. The easiest way to find these is to look at the wire side of the plug, find the three wires in a row (the optical wires) on the wide side and look at the 7 on the narrow side on the same end.

5) Remove the hot glue from these pins gently using a razor.

6) Make sure there are no connections between or to the last three: 26, 28, and 30. If there is a connection, desolder it. Mine didn't have any, but it is important you check this.

7) Jump (place a blob of solder) pins 22 and 24.

8) Jump pins 18 and 20.

9) Check your connections. This can be done with a continuity meter. 18 and 20 should be connected, 22 and 24 should be connected, and also check for lack of connections between the two groups and 26, 28, and 30.

10) Time to check your work. Your Xbox should not reset when changing HDMI inputs away from and back to your Xbox, and the optical plug on your adapter should be glowing red. You should get sound through the cable. I did this to get 5.1 optical so that I can hear someone behind me just before they shoot me in the head in Halo: Reach.

11) If there are still problems, recheck your work and use Google. You're on your own.

12) Did you remember to unplug your soldering iron? Are the curtains on fire? Why did you think a windowsill was a good place to put a hot soldering iron?

13) If it works, time to put everything back together. Replace the hot glue if you have some to keep things from touching, slide the copper cover back in place, and replace the plastic casing. You may need some tape or glue here. Easiest thing to do is wrap it a few times with electrical tape, stretching it to keep things nice and tight.

14) Game on. Please leave a comment if this worked for you. Sorry about those curtains dude, but things could have gotten much worse. Good thing you had that fire extinguisher handy. Some Halo will take that off your mind. It's hard to think about burnt curtains when a Covenant Mothership has you pinned down.

I actually use this in conjunction with a pair of Turtle Beach X4's. I am fortunate to own an Onkyo 7.1 Surround Sound system (can be found for a great price if you dig a little online) however there are certain times, usually at night when she is asleep on the couch, that my wife just prefers I use headphones will gaming. So since my Onkyo receiver is capable of doing both HDMI Audio and Video, I use the optical connection on this adapter to go straight into the Turtle Beach receiver. So for that purpose, it works like a champ.

It will of course also work if you have a receiver that only does HDMI video but not audio as well.

The only thing I will say is when I purchased this a few months ago, I recall paying no more than $15 for it, and that included shipping, so buyer beware, it appears that some people are taking advantage of the fact that this is a somewhat hard to find item. However shop around if need be, as a $34 asking price is just absolutely uncalled for.

I've also recommended this to two people who had various different home theater setups that required the optical audio connection but they used HDMI for the video, and they both had no issues with this adapter and it worked flawlessly for them.

This cable does the trick with one major flaw. It is not wired correctly and the xbox360 will reboot if you switch inputs on your display.

For example, if you have a cable/satellite box in tv hdmi input 1, and the xbox is on tv hdmi 2, then if you switch from the xbox to watch tv and return to the xbox the xbox will reboot.

This is a known problem on lower quality cables because they are missing a ground. This cable can be modified, but you have to crack open the casing, and solder in an additional wire. This is not a tv or setup problem. Its a known issue and you can easily find more info on it on the net.

This problem makes it very difficult to pause a game for long periods and return to it. So i have to give this a low review, because a cable either completely works, or it doesn't work at all...

When I bought my first Xbox I couldn't believe that it didn't come with a head phone jack. What would it have cost the manufacturer? Maybe 5 cents? Unless your monitor comes with an audio out, and what HDMI or DVI monitor does, I guess Microsoft figures you don't need sound at all. X-COM Enemy Unknown Elite Soldier Pack is basically worthless:

1. The (official as opposed to Amazon's) description of what you get (quoted below) is deliberately misleading to fool you into thinking that you are getting more than you are really getting, which I find at least unethical. Amazon's description is a bit more 'honest' though not entirely. Here's what the official description says (my comments in brackets, and you can find the official description on the publisher's site as well as on Steam):

"Customize your squad with three new bonus items [OK, this part is kind of true].

Instantly unlock a new recruit in your barracks inspired by the original X-COM: UFO Defense [MISLEADING you are not getting any new recruits, what you are getting is a single additional haircut inspired by the original X-COM].

Outfit your soldiers with specialized armor upgrades including the new Hyperion and Reaper soldier armor kits [MISLEADING you are not getting any armor upgrades, there are no new research-able armor upgrades, there are only two additional armor SKINS see #2 below for details].

Customize your soldiers' appearances with a variety of colors and tints for all armor sets [This is the only thing that is true here].

2. Modifiable armor skins they call 'upgrades' are for low-end armors only (your basic body armor, Carapace and Skeleton armors can be made to look less flimsy). The midto high-end armors are not modifiable (except for the color). You also get one "retro" hairdo a la X-COM UFO Defense and three helmet skins (these are just skins with no intrinsic properties), but I find the ability to hide the soldiers' faces inside those helmets useless as using helmets makes all soldiers look the same and they lose their unique faces, hair styles and skin colors.

So if you buy this pack all you really get is the ability to apply something like 30 color tints to the existing armors. AND, to be thorough, most of the color tints are hideous neon-glow like. Do you want your assault troopers to look like Barby dolls or beer promo neon signs? The only colors that are actually usable and make your soldier armors look bad-ass are solid ones such as black, red, khaki, white, orange. So you are not even getting the 30 color tints they offer as you will never use 25 of them.

I suppose it could be useful and cool to make all your assault troopers orange, heavies green, support (medics) white and snipers red (that's how I have them colored anyway, you may want other tints) but I am not sure the ability to color-code your soldier classes is worth the price tag, unless you simply want to support the developer... BUT considering how they misinform you in the product description to swindle the five bucks out of you, I don't think you should support them.

As people have said, the description of this item is a little misleading. 1. You do not get a new recruit, you only get a new hairstyle (which is rather silly, but is a throwback to old XCOM games), and 2. You do not get new armor to research that gives you new stats.

The description really should be rewritten, since it clearly was written incorrectly. That said, I'm going to review what you ARE getting, because in spite of the description being misleading, a LOT of these user reviews are misleading as well.

Not every game has a lot of customization options. I was already impressed to an extent with XCOM because you can change your soldiers' faces, hair, race, skin, voice, etc. Basically, this pack adds a lot more customization. True, you don't get new armor types (that add stats), but you are given the option to change most if not all armor types to look differently. Of all the armor types I have so far, each has one or two different versions, which either add more bulk to the armor or change it completely. People were saying that late game armor has no customization, and that is totally incorrect. I'm using the Titan armor (a heavy late game armor) and there is a customization for it that makes it look sort of like an EOD suit. Perhaps certain other late game armors do not have customization options (Ghost and Psi armor, maybe), but all the other armors do, and ALL armors are recolorable.

Beyond changing the structure of your armor, you're given 32 colors to change your armor. All of the scathing reviews of this pack call all of the colors except for a few "badly colored Power Ranger colors" when this is totally and completely false. For reference, here is a list of the 32 colors available (I'll capitalize the neon colors):

As you can see, out of 32 colors, only 7 are "neon Power Ranger" colors, which I think is completely reasonable. The neon colors are still fun sometimes, depending on the soldier (not every solider has to be drab and boring) and the general fantasy/sci-fi feel of the game (aliens, giant laser/plasma guns, etc). There are only a few colors besides those 7 that may be a little too colorful for everyone, but in general the colors are pretty muted and clean looking. People are just sore about paying more than they wanted to when they bash the color choices.

A final thing this DLC adds are hat and helmet options. There are two berets (one with sunglasses), a baseball cap with a headset, a beanie with a headset and goggles, and nine different full face helmets, some of them very cool. A very nice addition when you want to change your soldiers up. I've seen people complain that your armor customizations are lost when your solider is injured (or dies, duh), but that is an automatic game design feature that unequips your injured soldiers so that you can use their equipment for your non-injured soldiers. It only takes a few clicks to get your customizations back once your soldiers are back in action, so that's really a pointless complaint.

In conclusion, this is a great customization pack for the game. $5 really isn't much to pay, but if the content isn't worth that to you, wait for a sale. I picked this up for about $1.50 in a Steam sale.

I got this controller because I couldn't find the color I wanted around town. Yes, I ordered online, just for the color, but why not? It was cheaper online than going to the nearest Gamestop, or something. The Afterglo series has good quality products. They're unique and fun. The only thing that throws me off is that the D-pad and analog on the left side are switched, unlike a PS3 controller. First of all, I want to say that I am a pretty hardcore gamer. I'm a level 17 on Metal Gear Online, and if you were familiar with the game, you'd know that being that level means that you're a pretty good player. I bought this controller because I was tired of wearing out the Dualshock 3 analog sticks by playing that game. Now, onto the controller.

This controller is alright. The buttons and triggers feel kind of cheap. The analog sticks don't have evenly distributed resistance in all directions, as compared to the Dualshock 3, but it's fine. When using this controller to play Metal Gear, there's a noticeable reduction in control with the analog sticks. However, with that said, I find that I enjoy using this controller. The Xbox 360 controller layout is fun to play with. There isn't any lag, as far as I can tell.

For the price, I'd say this controller is decent. I think if they improved upon the design of this controller, adding non-plastic-like buttons and making the analog sticks as responsive and resistive as the Dualshock 3, then they'd have a winner. I'd pay $50, or even more, for something like that. (I'm talking to you controller designer!)

I bought this new from GameStop for $30. Everything worked perfectly. Then it started breaking. The vibrator only worked on one side of the controller and a piece of plastic chipped off the bottom of the controller. Now the afterglow doesn't even work any more. The controller itself still works and I use it as my second controller but beware before buying.

I got this just because it's the only purple option for dual shocks. It is wired, make no mistake about that. I normally sit 4 feet from my console, so wired is fine. The controller is actually clear, but it lights up inside with a purple light.

I like this because it's smaller than the standard dual shock. So perfect for gamers who don't have giant man-hands. And they put in these little protrusions that your fingers rest against on the back side, to prevent slippage. I wish Sony would use that idea in their proprietary controllers. Also, the triggers are extended, so no need to buy add on trigger extenders. And, it has vibration but you can choose to disable it.

I really like this controller and use it all the time.

The Roxio Game Capture HD PRO is exactly what I've been looking for in a capture device for a few years now. It is small/compact and has hdmi connections. It is simple to set up and the software is easy, straightforward, and has numerous features. The only downside is that the software takes a little while (depending on your computer) to install and get going. Along those lines, make sure that your computer has the capability to record hd footage. My main computer for game capture is unable to record with optimum settings (it's a little old :/). Once everything is set up, you just click capture and it captures to the specified folder and you click stop capture when you're done and that's it pretty simple. The price I got it for, due to the special release price, made this a must have for me. The standard price is certainly lower than most HD cap devices, especially with HDMI capability. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase so far. I haven't tried the streaming or direct uploading to youtube but from what I've heard/read those features are effective and convenient.

Pros:

-software is great

-compact and simple

Cons:

Let me say this first, I am a beginner when it comes to capture cards (although I've recorded game play with a camcorder so does that count?). Anyways, the Roxio Game Capture HD PRO works great; no problems recording and no defects. I've yet to try streaming but I will do that in a future update of this review. The software installation is easy and so is the hardware setup; just plug in two HDMI/Component Cables, connect the card to your USB port and you're good to go(assuming you've installed the software already). The software that comes with it (Roxio VideoWave) is incredibly easy to use although I couldn't customize the render settings, only choose different presets but that's probably because I haven't fiddled around enough with the software. The device itself is incredibly light and compact so I wouldn't leave it someplace where it could get crushed by your foot or something else. If you're having any problems using this then you must have done something wrong(e.g. loose cables, wrong settings, etc.) so make sure if you have any problems that you DOUBLE CHECK everything. If you've done that and are absolutely sure that it isn't you, then you probably have a defective product. I really dislike the way people bash products due to their own human errors. This does NOT INCLUDE HDMI/COMPONENT CABLES so make sure you have the required cables.

Final Thoughts:

If you're recording in full quality, it takes about 2 megabytes a second so make sure you have a lot of hard drive space. A 1:23 minute clip took up 158mb of space. Please make sure that your computer meets the recommended system requirements otherwise you'll be an unhappy customer and bash this product because you didn't read. If you want to use your headset and record via HDMI, you will need an audio adapter("RCA / Toslink Audio Adapter for Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim" from MonoPrice). I've uploaded a couple raw MW3 clips to YouTube(DolphLundgrennn)so check them out if you'd like. They don't look as nice as the original files but it's still great. I'll capture some more game play to get the quality even better once I've learned the program.

STREAMING:

I forgot to add this into my review but streaming with VideoWave works well but you need some really fast internet. I have 30 down and 5 up and I can only stream at around 800kbps before it starts to lag.

As others have mentioned, Sony Vegas cannot read the audio codec for the recorded files so you'll have to convert the file or stick with VideoWave. It's not a bad program, it's just not as fluid as Vegas.

If you're having screen resolution problems, you need to disable "Auto Custom Scaling" or adjust those settings. Mines was on auto and it was messing up my resolution.

Sometimes you need to switch back to the HDMI input if you're receiving no signal(Using my Audio adapter caused the input to be on "component" instead of "HDMI").

If you have a monitor that has a 1650x1050 resolution and you're using this capture card, it may be a bit blurry but not to the point where you cannot see anything. Everything is still HD and very playable, but it may turn some off.

Cannot stream at 1300 kbps with a 3mbps upload so I use around 800kbps in 480p.

A friend recommends using FFSplit(assuming you can install it) and just screen cap the gameplay in the roxio software. He's gotten some really great looking streams.

Sometimes the program will freeze and stop working when I stop streaming and try to record. I cannot end the process(via task manager) which forces me to shut down my 360 and restart my PC. It hasn't happened often but it is annoying.

VideoWave doesn't allow you to add more than 2 audio tracks so make sure you save your project before trying so. Adding an audio track(such as sound effects) into the same track works however.

VideoWave is fairly slow and may be annoying to work with for people who are used to Sony Vegas.

If you're having the "No Signal" issue and your TV is 1080p, switch that to 720p. Took me a while to figure it out.

You can have different outputs meaning if you are capturing via Component, you can output via HDMI too and vice versa.

Sometimes when capturing, it will not actually record so you need to pay attention to the bottom left to see if it's recording(duration, file size created, etc.)

VideoWave is becoming incredibly annoying to use to do some basic edits and I think I'm starting to hate it. Doing commentaries or just rendering is fine.

Still works great after about 4 months

Sometimes will record 60fps. Maybe it's my PC but sometimes it would record my CoD videos with 60fps but mostly 30fps now.

Just got this device yesterday and I can say that this device is AMAZING, especially with the price tag. The reason why I'm giving this 5 stars even though I said the software is horrible(which it is), is that it's a fairly new device, and I want to give them some time to fix all of the bugs within the software. The device itself is great, and the quality you get is comparable/better than the HD PVR, Elgato etc. A lot of people say a downside to recording with this device, is that you can't import the clips into other NLEs(Sony Vegas) because the audio doesn't import with it. There is a quick fix on the Roxio forums for that, or you can download "Any Video Recorder" and convert the audio only, which takes about a few seconds. I haven't tried livestreaming yet, as I don't do live streams but I will probably test it out. Instead of pros and cons, I will write what's good about the device, and what's bad about the software as of now.

Great design, lightweight and sturdy(opinion).

Max bitrate is 15mbps, great for people who do multiple renders like myself.

720p 60fps, 1080p 30fps recordings.

"The Horrible Software" Note that this is MY experience, not yours. You may not have the same problems.

Slow loading times.

If you had problems during the installation, you'll have freezing problems with the software although I fixed it by re-installing.

If you set the bitrate to max(or over the middle of the slider bar), or if you're doing anything else, the screen starts glitching out and so does the recording. If you're having this problem, the only way to fix this as of now is to move the slider to the middle of the quality slider bar and close every program(don't know why) which lets you record at 8-10mbps.

If you mute the audio in the preview window, it doesn't save when you exit.

All in all, the device is outstanding, but the software definitely needs some work, but I will hold on to this device until future software updates as it has A LOT of potential.

I saved up my Holiday money for this card, hoping to finally get into making gaming videos. Unfortunately, the card is incompatible with my current gaming setup (taking component input and outputting hdmi) and also seems to hate every hdmi-dvi cable (i.e. exactly what I need) since it always outputs a blank signal. I've spent nearly a month diagnosing everything hooked up to this thing, and cannot for the life of me figure out the problem.

And that leaves me with customer support, which they have a complete and total lack of. Well, that's not entirely accurate. You have three options:

1. Read through their brain-dead FAQ (make sure it's plugged in!).

2. Ask for help from fellow disgruntled customers on their practically-dead forums.

3. PAY FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

You may think I'm kidding on the last one. Feel free to go to their website, look up support for this product, and instead of finding even a phone number to call for help, or a link to click to talk to somebody, you have the option of paying for a one-time-use, customer support ticket. That's just plain insulting.

I'm not alone, either: just look up reviews for their customer support, and you'll find that the company that they outsource their support to (and of course themselves by association) are loathed for having absolutely no regard for their customers whatsoever.

If you're reading this, it's hopefully because you're doing research on what looks like an appealing product. And who knows, it might even work for you.

But don't expect a single word of real help out of Roxio. And if you're like me, you'll see no reason to support a company with such blatant disregard for its customers. And if you do happen to buy this product, for the love of god, keep the packaging handy and make sure you check the Warranty, because there's a really good reason that an HD Capture Card with these specs is so cheap.

It records 720/1080 HD without a problem. Very easy settup, and very simple to use, i would recommend this for people who are just starting out on a gaming channel, or just want to show off their awesome gameplays to their friends.

Another game I got based on a cheap price and other reviews. The one thing that got me excited though was it's throwback homage to Zombies Ate My Neighbor on the SNES. It's not as good as Zombies, but it's okay and warrants a purchase if you can find it under $10. The graphics are good, but not Great or Next Gen and the controls are pretty decent. So if you are looking for some Zombies ate my Neighbor action on your XBox this is as close as you will get.

With reviews like this, it's like people go to McDonalds and expect Lobster and Steak to be on the menu! This game I bought years ago and didn't do much with it. Then my daughters grew old enough to enjoy this without getting nightmares, so we played it over many hours and had so much fun for the past couple of weeks! My daughters begged to play with me every day for the past two weeks. We finally beat it today. Yes, you will be frustrated, sometimes by the game challenges, and sometimes by the controls, and yes, vehicles sometimes get stuck, but there's always a solution, even if it means ultimately resetting the level. But it doesn't screw up so often that it isn't worth the experience. And yes, my daughters can't wait to play it all over again on the next difficulty level. Entertaining story line. This game doesn't take itself so seriously, so lighten up people! I'd love them to come out with a Monster Madness 2. It's well worth the money for a bargain buy.

I bought this game with some kind of expectations of it being like the classic Zombies ate my neighbors. I was sadly disapointed. I did not play it in multiplayer mode which many have argued is what the game is made for, however the single player was monotonous and boring. The game seemed to be very challenging in places that were probably not intended to be. Poor controls and screen views caused much frustration. Finally, the achievements were ridiculously hard to attain. I plan on selling my game for the one or two dollars I can get for it at game stop.

One of the many interesting points with the Xbox 360 is the amazing detail and graphics the console itself provides. Another is the 3-D effects and the "go inside the game" ability.

The makers of this game failed miserably to see these reasons as opportunities to make a better game. I honestly think they slapped this one together and threw it on the shelf before anyone had time to tell them just how awful it was! The effects stink, the gameplay is awful, the controls are very difficult to figure out and the players move in awkward and hard to maneuver ways.

I played this game for about an hour and had to take some tylenol from the headache. The headache caused by screaming as the screen and looking at my bank balance and wishing I had never purchased this game at all.

Be aware that if you are using a stereo source (two channels, red/white), you can butter it up all you want, but you are not getting surround sound. The closest you can physically get to true non-stereo sound with a stereo source is using Dolby Pro-Logic and Pro-Logic II. But to achieve that, you need a Dolby Pro-Logic/II receiver which would cost a pretty penny. This clearly does not do this.

What this adapter does, is the same thing you would achieve by splicing the rear left, front left, and center speaker wire together and connecting it to a single-channel plug (a white RCA plug). Then the same thing being repeated for the right channel with front right, rear right, and center.

Using this adapter, the sound will be all around you, but it won't be surround sound. You won't hear space ships and laser blasts flying around you, you won't hear dialog coming directly from the TV, music from the left and right, and special effects from behind you, nor will you hear any of the other advantages of a real surround sound system. It recreates two really big stereo speakers. That is all. You will hear one set of sounds on the left speakers, and another set of sounds on the right speakers. The same sound that is in your FRONT left speaker will be coming out of your REAR left speaker. Your center speaker just outputs the sound from both front left and front right speaker. The exact same thing can be accomplished by just running a speaker wire from your left speaker to another speaker behind you. What you will hear is two distinctive channels (left and right), but duplicated and sent to the back speakers. Actual 5.1 surround consists of 6 individual channels, one per speaker, plus the subwoofer.

This device does not allow 5.1 surround sound. If you buy an expensive 5.1 speaker set, you are selling yourself short.

Now if you don't care about this and you are just trying to utilize your 5.1 setup on a stereo source, by all means, the product works great. But if you are trying to avoid buying an AV receiver, you will be strongly disappointed.

I'm using this to get surround sound with my Logitech X-540 and my PS3. Although it's not true Dolby surround sound, it's super cheap as well as the X-540 is. Before I got this, I was using the matrix mode on the X-540, and it's nowhere near as good as having this adapter because the sound isn't forced into all 5 speakers. I highly recommend this to those who don't have the expensive 5.1 systems.

The 1 downfall:

1. Using this device emits sound from all of your surround speakers, but it won't be a true surround sound experience. I got this game adapter to hook up my big screen TV to my Logitech X-530 surround speakers. I work third shift and live in a house that is divided into three apartments and I wanted to listen to the TV with headphones (the main speaker has a headphone jack). With the TV hooked up to the speakers (via the adapter) I can watch a movie or TV show and tune out the world at the same time while I sleep. This works great. The adapter is a hefty little black square with two RCA plugs on one side (for your TV) and three plugs on the other (green, black, and orange for your speakers). Just hook it up and you're good to go.
