I got my copy of the game yesterday and have been playing it non-stop. First, let me say that if you have the money to spring for the limited collectors edition it is worth it. You get a very well written book, the soundtrack, a bonus disc that includes themes and avatar items, etc. And the case that holds it all is a book. It is a surprisingly well crafted edition of the game. Also, if you buy this new (you might get lucky if the person you are buying this from doesn't use the free token when the DLC comes out) you get a code to download a free add-on for the game to be released in the following months.

Now to the game. I'm not going to reveal any spoilers but rather comment on the gameplay and mechanics. First, the two things that bothered me, but did not take away from the experience and pull me out of the immersion. There is some screen tearing, although it's not much it is noticeable. And the other thing is the mouth to voice sync. A character will be talking to you and sometimes the mouth expressions do not match up to what is being said. It doesn't happen too often, but it makes you wonder why a game in development for so long would have this problem.

Now the good. The graphics are amazing. The developers make the best use of motion blur and focus that I have seen in a game as of this date on a console. The use of dark and light is almost perfect and the atmosphere is even enhanced by this fact. The controls are tight and not complex. It might take you a few minutes to get used to the flashlight and gun combo but you will learn quick. My problem was that I thought I would only hit the target if the flashlight was aimed at the bad guy, but it seems that you will still hit the enemy even without the flashlight on them. I'm used to first person shooter games where you have a cross-hair to help you aim so I was using the flashlight beam as the cross-hair. After I learned that I didn't have to do that it was awesome and much easier. Also, the flow of the game is very well suited to the episodic nature. I think if they tried to tell the story like a start to finish movie it wouldn't have had the level of immersion that it does. When an episode is over and the next one is starting I really felt like I was excited to watch a new episode of my favorite show. Kudos to the developers for trying something that few others have in this genre.

The sound is also superior. You could have the best looking game in the world but one of the foundations that you need is good audio if you want the player to be immersed in the game. I played this game with a 7.1 surround and it was great. The creaks, chirps, grasshoppers and all the little sound effects seem to be in the right speaker at the right time. I'm not sure if they are using compressed audio, but from my experience with sound in most games you can tell the difference in the sound quality when you have your system blasting full surround. The sound and music did not sound muffled or of a low frequency sample rate.

I hope I didn't confuse too many of you with my review and I tried to get my opinion across as simple as I could. Simply put, this game is very good if you are a fan of the suspense/horror genre. Another good thing is that it is rated T, which means that it can appeal to a larger group of gamers under 17. You want to play this game with the lights off.

At the moment you can also download the six episodes entitled "Bright Falls" (each episode has it's own subtitle) that is the prequel to Alan Wake on Xbox Live! It is live action and the run-time if you put all the episodes together is about 37 minutes so you get a pretty good look of the mysteries and people of Bright Falls.

As always I make it clear that this is only my opinion of the game and should not be taken as a fact, but rather a small consideration if you are wondering about the game or wanting some small tidbits of information if you are planning on buying it. If you do plan on buying it you won't regret it. Even if you aren't a fan of the genre I think this game could get your attention and give you an enjoyable experience.

Best Deals for Alan Wake: Limited Edition -Xbox 360

Not much to be said that has not already been posted. I have been anticipating this game for some time simply because the plot looked very interesting and it just seemed like my kind of game. When my release day package arrived via UPS along with RED DEAD REDEMPTION I was extremely pleased to see the level of quality that went into making this LIMITED EDITION COPY. Comes with Avatar unlockables, a hard cover book as well as CD audio soundtrack (how many games offer that) as well as a bonus (content) disc including several themes and gamer pictures, as well as AVATAR unlockables and a code that allows you to download the upcoming DLC coming out in July? for free provided your XBOX LIVE email address is current so they can send you the code. I think it's an awesome game and the Collectors edition is one of the best I have ever seen. Right up there with the Gears of War Limited Edition. Super worth the money. Gameplay is what I expected and I have already been frightened a few times and I am not that far into the game. Seems like a great game with a great story. Look forward to playing through a couple times. Highly recommended.

Honest reviews on Alan Wake: Limited Edition -Xbox 360

It seems that David Lynch missed the boat somewhere. With the current rush of thriller style horror games hitting the market, he could have produced a game of epic proportions. In his absence, however, Remedy Entertainment has stepped up to the plate. If Deadly Premonition managed to capture the quirky characters and almost farcical style of Twin Peaks, Alan Wake has nailed the foreboding, fear-filled side of the series.

Author Alan Wake is trapped in a story that he doesn't remember writing and his wife's life is at stake. Armed with his trusty flashlight and an assortment of weapons, he must stave off the forces of darkness lurking throughout the town of Bright Falls while uncovering the clues to his own memory loss, his mysterious, new novel Departure and the location of his abducted spouse. And it all plays out as cinematically as any game has ever managed to do.

The Story

Penned by the deft hand of Sam Lake, there are definite echoes of Max Payne within this game--primarily the ongoing introspection and voice-over that narrates the story as it unfolds before the gamer. Otherwise, Alan Wake is a completely unique experience. Twists and turns in the plot manage to keep the story within grasp while introducing new and interesting tidbits throughout the game.

Game levels are scripted as 'episodes'--much as they were in Deadly Premonition--beginning with flashbacks of what has happened previously in the story/game. It gives the game a television-like vibe that brings to mind series like Lost and the X-Files--and is spoofed by the game itself with glimpses of a popular program (called Night Springs) that resembles the Twilight Zone on in-game televisions. In addition to the 'what happened before' flashbacks, gamers are also treated to a unique song between each of the episodes (such as the eerily appropriate In Dreams by Roy Orbison that also made an appearance in David Lynch's Blue Velvet).

Admittedly, the game is a little long on cut-scenes/cinematics--but they are absolutely forgivable within Alan Wake as they enhance the game experience and almost give the gamer the feeling they are 'playing within a movie.' Don't ignore the cut-scenes in this game; they are as beautiful as they are relevant.

Sights and Sounds

If Alan Wake is not the most gorgeous game ever released on the Xbox 360, then I don't know what is! Daytime in Bright Falls reveals a rustic Pacific Northwestern town that has been exquisitely detailed and constructed--but when night falls, the game is drenched in some of the best uses of light and shadow ever included within a game. Seriously, just watch how the flashlight bursts through the mists rising from the woodland trail in front of you, and take a peak at the white-capped mountains in the distance rimmed with moonlight and dare to disagree with me.

The sound design of the game is equally evocative; choosing to feature ambient music and sound effects for the background pays off with a steady build of fear and dread throughout the game. Enjoy the 'between the episodes' music for what it is: A break from the tension!

One last thing I want to mention in this section is the fine detail of facial expressions and character mannerisms throughout the game. They give a uniqueness to every person you encounter and make interactions throughout Alan Wake a pleasure.

The Game Play

Alan Wake's game play is structured much like other Third Person Shooters, so if you have fears of the tough-to-handle style of movement associated with other horror games (think Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark), you can rest easy. The mechanics involved with using the dual weapon system (flashlight/gun, etc.) are extremely user-friendly as well: Point the light at the enemy and that's where your bullets will hit.

In addition to the main storyline of the game, there are other, ongoing mini-missions as well--though they are mostly of the 'collectibles' variety. So be sure to pay attention to your surroundings and don't be afraid of leaving the well-trodden path to search for hidden caches of ammo, manuscript pages or the occasional thermos of coffee.

While the vast majority of this game is a pleasure to play, there are a few short comings that I would be remiss in not mentioning. The driving element of this game is mediocre at best; the drivable vehicles (not every car/truck is available to Wake) are a bit sluggish and handle a bit clumsily--though this, admittedly, does add to the tension of the game when bad guys are swarming you. But this is a minor thing since Wake is rarely forced to use a vehicle.

The continuous navigation of woodland paths (with the occasional handful of enemies jumping out) can also get a bit repetitive--though the game does manage to stay (for the most part) fun. And it would have been nice to have had a bit more of a map, rather than a simple GPS dot to follow--especially when you are trying to navigate through some of the more open areas of the game.

Summation

Though no game is perfect, I have to admit that in a lot of ways, Alan Wake is damn close! I give it 4.5 stars out of 5 (due to the minor shortcomings already mentioned). Alan Wake is the perfect mix of story and game play--and a fine example of how applying cinematic film techniques to a game can give it a depth that other titles can only dream of achieving. Do yourself a favor: Buy Alan Wake, fire it up and turn down the lights. Just don't forget to catch your breath during the musical interludes...

I got the original game back when it first came out in May. I got the collector's edition, as I was chomping at the bit to finally play this game ever since I first heard about it in 2006. Like most collector's editions, the extra material isn't really worth the trouble, but that's par for the course with most games. I later got the first downloadable pack when it became available during the summer and the second when it released a few months ago. I've cleared the game's full gambit of achievements, part of which involved finding stuff (damn you, thermoses!) listening to radio and tv shows, shooting piles of tin cans and of course, manuscript pages. I've gone from one side of the Dark Presence to the other and back again to help the eponymous character regain his fractured sanity and face the demons that he created for himself.

You'll probably notice that I don't focus a lot of time on the graphics, sound and controls; my main emphasis is on the story and the characters. There's a reason for that. Even if I didn't already believe that story and characters are the most important aspects of a video game after gameplay, Alan Wake is story-driven game. If the story falls flat, it doesn't have the crazy, over-the-top gameplay Gears 2 has to fall back on. Nor does it have the branching gameplay decisions that you'd have with a Fable or Mass Effect game. It's a very linear game; you go from point A to B to C to D and the game will pretty much play the same way out each time. Perhaps worst of all, it doesn't have a lot of replay value (more on that later.) So, without the story, it's really not much of a game.

So how was it? We all know how the game didn't sell too well, but was it good?

It's best for me to get what I don't like out of the way first. Like with a lot of games, it's short. Even when taking into consideration the amount of time it took to collect everything and the few extra hours the DLC packs added, Alan Wake is a short game. It's also not a very difficult one, even on the hardest mode. The mechanics for the game are very simple. You're going through the dark, and you need light. This works out in many interesting ways for the puzzles you come across (especially in the DLC packs) but fights are pretty similar to one another. Point your flashlight, wait for the darkness to burn away, shoot the enemy, dodge the attack from the other enemy, point your flashlight at him, pop a battery or two in, and you're good. Once you have these basics down, there aren't too many encounters that will prove difficult. And you probably already know about Verizon. It was bad enough that they had billboards, but an actual achievement to watch a Verizon commercial? Seriously guys? Also, the second chapter could've really used a start point after the scene with Mott, given the number of collectibles in that part of the chapter. And the third chapter was long. Really, really, really long. More than once I found myself saying "Are you effing kidding me?" as it became obvious that I *still* wasn't done with that chapter. Yeah, the game as a whole is short, but this chapter went on a little bit too long, especially since the latter half of said chapter had very little story development. Fortunately, when you do get past the third chapter, that's when the story starts to pick up. Ultimately, though, once you've collected everything, there's little to come back to, as, again, the game is so very linear.

Remedy was clever when it came to roping in us completionists, as some of the manuscript pages can only be found on the hardest mode of difficulty, and this can only be unlocked after playing through the game on one of the two easier modes at least once from start to finish. There is no shortage of people who criticize one of the plot twists towards the end of the game. I would ask that those critics play through the DLC packs, as a dialogue in the second makes it clear that there's more to that twist than what meets the eye, which ties in with the fact that Remedy from day 1 has said that there's a larger story than just the one game. The story itself is a very unique video game story, and the voice acting is very good. Alan himself is a conflicted man who wants to do the right thing and loves his wife, but fights his temper, alcoholism, fatalism, depression, insomnia, self-loathing, fits of rage and just in general being a bit of a donkey. His wife is on her last nerve trying to find someway to get Alan to snap out of his rut and return to being the man she married, which leads to them going to Bright Falls. I enjoyed listening to him narrate his story as he fights against the darkness as well as his own personal demons. As he's a writer, he's used to getting in the heads of his characters, figuring out what makes them tick. Now, he's the character in his own story and he's got to find a way to finish it.

The stock game ends on a cliffhanger which has polarized the gaming community. I personally liked it, and to those who don't, I also suggest playing the DLC, as the story truly finishes. You can complain all you want about Remedy "forcing" you to pay to get the real ending, but let's not forget these facts:

1) Remedy is a business. They're not your spouse, your friend or family member. Remedy is a business, and businesses are in it to make money. This notion that you've somehow been "betrayed" by them because they want a little more money for the fruits of their labor is far more asinine than Wake could ever hope to be.

2) We have at least one thing in common; you didn't make the game. Nor did you put any of your time, money and energy into it; instead, you're enjoying the finished product that other people, not you, made.

3) You're *not* being forced to pay for it; either don't buy it, or find a friend who did buy it and play it on their system.

4) Finally, it's really not that expensive, anyway. Especially if you got that token that let you get the first pack for free.

The DLC is truly bizarre. The stock game takes place in the real world (even though there isn't an actual Bright Falls) and many references to the real world are made. Alan, his wife Alice and best friend/agent Barry are New Yorkers through and through. Stephen King is mentioned in the opening scene. There are also references to The Shining, other authors like Dan Brown, James Elroy and HP Lovecraft, etc. The DLC, on the other hand is in this weird zone known as the Dark Place, and reality there is as steadfast, reliable and reproducible as that of a dream. It's always shifting around, and the further Alan goes into it, the more bizarre it becomes. Early on in the first pack, Alan finds a page, but reading it doesn't net the same result as one of the real pages in the real world does. Instead of reading a clear, coherent page, Alan hears himself saying disjointed, seemingly random fragments. This is to be expected to some extent, though, because the Dark Place is presented as a dream-like realm, and the part of the brain that you use to read is shut off while you're asleep. It also gives what is from that point on the main gameplay mechanic (aside from the light/dark aspect) the proper introduction it deserves. While introduced at the end of the main game, the whole concept of shining the light at a word to have it create and/or do something comes to the fore here, and this is where the interesting light/dark puzzles come into play. That's not to say that they're complex; it doesn't take a whole lot to work out how to move forward. But they are interesting and I look forward to seeing what else Remedy can do.

Ultimately, Alan Wake ends on a high note. The main game and especially the first DLC pack end on low notes, but the end to the second pack is very satisfying. Alan's journey isn't over; far from it, but he is bound and determined to do what he must to survive and rejoin Alice's side. He now knows just how far he fell from being the man he once was. He's been at rock bottom and is now going to use that rock to stand back up so that he can climb out of the hole he's dug for himself.

Humor is sprinkled in rather well here. Most of it comes from Barry. He has a monologue that simply cannot be missed in the latter part of the game, and I nearly peed when I saw him after he left the general store to met up with Alan and the sheriff. There's a line not long after this that Alan gives that's also great.

Graphically, the game has a very unique feel to it. This is definitely a Remedy game. The shaking of the trees, the darkness looming, the active cameraman, all of comes together quite well. And I couldn't help but love how towards the end we see the actor who provided Wake's likeness on a mock TV show; thought that was a nice touch. The soundtrack is simply amazing. My favorite song is War by Poets of the Fall, who also provided the music for the game's fictional band. There's even a radio broadcast that pokes a little fun at this. I get goosebumps every time I hear that song. The controls are pretty easy and straightforward; the only thing that takes a little getting used to is the fact that Alan couldn't do a marathon to save his life. He can run for a little bit but gets winded easily. But as long as you shine the light on your pursuers before taking off again, they'll get stunned for a moment, giving you a window of time to get closer towards the light.

So all in all, I don't regret purchasing this game and should Remedy proceed with the sequel I'll probably get the limited edition of that too. I know, I'm a glutton for punishment; what can I say? So give it a rental, it's a real love it or hate it kind of game. Now, if you're excuse me, I have some more thermoses to find.....

XB360 Wildfire 2 Wired Controller + Turbo Rapid Fire Function - BLACK
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars

This controller is wonderful! I didn't want to blow $70 on a modded OEM controller, so this was the perfect alternative.

PROS

-Nice design

-LEDS on both handles

-3 modes for rapid fire

-rapid fire can be programmed to more that one button

-8ft of cable

-Works great for modern warfare 2

-Plug and play!

CONS

-Awkwardly bulky; feels weird in your hands at first, but you get used to it fast

-Cant attach a chatpad to it

-In Call of duty: world at war, the semi auto weapons will fire automatic, but at a very slow fire rate (Due to coding in the game)

-People will talk a bunch of smack and send you hateful msgs, calling you a hacker (Thats okay though, its hilarious!)

Build Quality: *** (A little too bulky)

Design: **** (Looks very nice)

Functionality: ***** (programmable to almost every button, and multiple buttons)

Overall, i give this controller a 4/5. Its a great tool to own in your favorite game!

Well,i wandered around amazon for a bit looking for a replacement for my madcatz controller[ the crummy thing's joysticks were getting uncallibrated and had a big RB issue.]

This controller got to me a couple days ago, suprisingly faster than i expected.my first impressions were, that the controller is a bit thick.depending on how you hold a controller, you might have problems with this, but it wasn't an issue for me.

The triggers are also a bit thick, and take a bit of force to fully pull.luckily, they only have to be yanked about halfway down, not even that,to get the buggers to work. The bumpers aren't as large as the ones on my last controller, but they work and are very easy to hit/activate,so always a plus for me.

hm,if i had to make some lists for this thing it would look like this..

PROS

+turbo function

+easy to hit bumpers

+larger triggers

+joysticks work with little force, and don't feel like they'd give if pushed excessively

CONS

-triggers take a bit of force to fully press in

-controllers thickness can make it odd to hold

-the lights activated by the controllers turbo warm up the grips to suprisingly temperatures if left on for a long time[took ~4 hrs for it to get to that point though]

overall though,if i had the cash,i'd get another one of these bad boys.

i was actually pretty happy about this order. its worth the money i paid for it wich is for teh turbo setting since i didnt feel like cutting up my $60 controller jsut to mod it like this and being able to pick how fast the contoller is is also a plus since some games cant register the highest setting.

+pros

-progamable speed

-turbo setting (duh)

Cons-

-the design of the controller is ...Chunky.. what i meen is that it doesnt fit snugly in your hand and feels weird.

-it doesnt feel solid and feels like it whants to break in your hands.

-the controllpad and directional pad are not the best.

other thoughts-

it is a wired controller wich i wouldnt count as a con or pro it depends on your preference since it is able to plug and play on a computer wich is really nice. also since it is wired it does not guzzle batteries wich if your an avid gamer can become costly

I'm just going to keep it simple.

Reasons not to buy this controller:

1) Very stupid controller design. Grips claw into you, hurting your hands big or small. Thumbsticks are convex and plastic without any bumps (making it extremely hard to keep your thumbs accurate).

2) The turbo fire goes off very slowly compared to any other turbo controller-It also sometimes jams your gun from firing in First Person Shooters.

3) Controller parts are made extremely cheap. I opened my controller up because a trigger physically jammed after 5 minutes of use, and there isn't much holding ANYTHING together.

4) It's Datel. It's a crap company to begin with, with a crap reputation for making crap products.

In Summary: When Datel was making this controller, evidently QUALITY IS OBVIOUSLY THE LAST THING THEY HAD IN MIND FOR IT. Thanks for reading.

Since it seems like Amazon just puts all the reviews for all of the 3-packs together, I'll say that, in general, any of the 3-packs are worth the price since you're really only paying about $6.67 for each figure (as opposed to shelling out $7.99 for each separately).

Each character in the game has their own element, which are needed for unlocking restricted bonus areas (which usually contains additional coins and hats), but aren't required to complete the game. In total, there are eight different elements: magic, earth, life, undead, fire, air, water, and tech. If you only own ANY of the starter pack (which includes the game and the "Portal of Power"), then you already have three of the elements covered: Spyro (magic), Trigger Happy (tech), and Gill Grunt (water).

Now, at the time of this writing, only 3 packs are available (I can only assume more will come in the future). The three packs are:

Drobot (tech), Flameslinger (fire), and Stump Smash (life)

Eruptor (fire), Chop Chop (undead), and Bash (earth)

Prism Break (earth), Boomer (tech), and Voodood (magic)

So if you're looking to cover each one of the elements (or want to buy the bare minimum to keep your kid happy and not tear your wallet a new one), the best choice is to go with the Eruptor, Chop Chop, and Bash pack. Then you can purchase the last two elements (life and air) separately.

Skylanders is a great game for kids 6 13 and old school gamers (like me) in their 30's. Co-op with a parent and child works great. The game can be played with just the three starter characters, but it is best realized by having at least one character from each class (8 in all). The 360, Wii, and PS3 starter sets come with (1 magic, 1 water, 1 tech), so you will want to add at least (1 life(leaf), 1 fire, 1 air, 1 undead, and 1 earth (mountain)). This character set will get you a fire character, a life character and a 2nd tech character. While this set doesn't get you as close to all 8 classes as the Character pack 3 does, it offers 3 character's that are particularly fun to play, Flameslinger is a fire archer that blows up enemies at a distance like a beast. Drobot shoots gears, lasers from his eyes, can fly, and has a really cool voice. Stump Smash is a melee tank. These characters compliment each other well. To get the other 3 classes I would buy the crypt expansion to get undead Ghost Roaster, Pirate Seas to get Terrafin(earth), and Sonic Boom(air) for a boy or (air) Whirlwind for a girl (shoots rainbows).

If you want to get all 8 classes the cheapest route possible then buy character pack 3 (Eruptor, Chop chop, Bash) then add a single Stealth Elf (life) and a single Sonic Boom or Whirlwind. The only caveat here is I personally didn't enjoy playing any of the characters from Character pack 3 as much as the others. (note: I'm a nut and have all 32 characters)

Best Deals for Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Triple Character Pack (Drobot

Great "booster pack" for the starter pack, perfect first place to start expanding the game. Assuming you bought the starter pack (required to play), if this is the first thing you buy, you'll get another tech character (perfect for 2 kids who are splitting 6 figures, for example) and then 1 fire character and 1 plant character, which will greatly help as you progress in the game.

Honest reviews on Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Triple Character Pack (Drobot

The game in and of itself is fun. I have characters from all elements except 2 (life and Air), which kind of sucks because I can't go into specific areas due to not having the other two elements. However, I will not pay these ridiculous and criminal prices. I completely agree, supply and demand can cause prices to rise, but these prices are just the result of some serious money hungry people who want to rip everyone else off. Normal price for 3 pack is $19.99. Normal price per individual Skylander is $7.99. Don' t get ripped off by these people and pay more then that.. Send the message, we will NOT be ripped off because you stole all the supplies and are now jacking up the price beyond what is even reasonable.

I play a lot of different RPG's and was not a fan of Elder Scrolls Oblivion. I will list the pros and cons as impartially as possible so you can be the judge on what matters to you.

PROS:

You are left to explore and find things to do and quests on your own. This game is a true RPG. You have one main quest. Everything else are side quests.

Over 100+ hours of places to explore. and more than 100+ unique map locations.

Tons of perks and ways to develop your character. Become a science genius or concentrate on stealth and your lockpicking ability. Invest in large guns and go into places with guns ablaze. Play the game how you want. Be good and people will love you, be bad and people will fear you.

Replay value. This is rare in RPGs but Because of the many different ways you can play the game I see myself playing this game again to play a different type of character.

Some people complain about the targeting system known as VATS. This game is not an FPS. VATS gives you a wonderful 1st person shooter feel with an RPG style or turned based combat. Score a critical by shooting your enemies head and it might explode. Shoot the enemy on his weapon hand and he will not be able to attack you very quickly.

The graphics are amazing. Its a beautiful post apocalyptic mess. The detail from the stains on a found mattress or a found comic called "Grognak the Barbarian and the Lair of the Virgin Killer" are all amazing. You can tell a lot of thought went into detail.

The voice work is nice. Almost every character talks out loud. This allows you to listen and respond instead of just watching a mouth move and reading dialog all the time.

Enemies do not automatically level with your character. This was my biggest problem with Oblivion. Some people liked the fact that enemies would always be your level. I found it totally unrealistic. Go ahead, run your level 1 character through the Wastelands. You might come across an easy roach or a mutant with a minigun. In my book this makes the game more fun and much more realistic.

I have read on the forums and some bad reviews here that they can not find tons of ammo. This is not Halo, Call of Duty or any other FPS. People need to take the right mindset. This is a world 200 years after major Nuclear war. Things will break, ammo is sometimes scarce, radiation is a fact of life, bottle caps are money, people trade everything and you live in a harsh world. I think some people need to watch the Madmax series just as a primer to understand the world created here.

Instant travel. Once you have visited an area you no longer need to walk to the location. You can locate the area on your map (through the PIPBoy 3000) and select it to instantly travel.

The PipBoy 3000 Interface works great. This allows you to keep track of stats, items, equipment, quests, notes, maps, and karma very easily. The UI is easy and it keeps all the data you need at your finger tips.

CONS:

AI is nothing special. It's not bad, just nothing special. When I am shooting a shotgun at you, running at me with a pool cue might not be the smartest thing to do. They will sometimes run away if severely over matched (which is the smart thing to do). The AI is no worse then any other games, just no big improvements here.

Lack of good music. You can find radio stations on your PIPBoy but I was not a fan of the music. The background can be ok but not great. Sometimes when alone in the Wasteland you want some good background music.

I had the game crash once but not a lot of times like some people are reporting. Still unacceptable but manageable. Loading and saving times can take anywhere between 10-30 seconds which is kind of slow.

No item descriptions. The important data like weight, condition value, and perks of the item are still displayed but full description of the items are no longer available. This is different then Fallout 1 and 2 where each item had a paragraph describing it.

Additional thoughts:

This game is rated "M". This means you shouldn't play this game with kids in the room. This isn't a Con for me but this might be a problem for all you gamer mom and dads out there. Seriously, no kids allowed. Women offer there "Services", cussing, blood splatter on the screen when you get injured, mutants hanging people on meat hooks, tons of drug use, and of course blowing peoples limbs off. Good times but not for the kiddies.

No, its not perfect but it is a lot of fun and the best RPG currently on the market. My 5 star review was based on that fact. This is the best RPG I have played since FFX (Final Fantasy X). I hope you enjoy it.

I have been enjoying Fallout 3 for about 70 hours now and I am having as much fun now as I was 50 hours ago, which is to say A LOT.

I cannot speak to the bugs that others seem to be experiencing. In my 70 hours I have had my game freeze only a handful of times, and none of them were anything that was game breaking. I have several friends who are also playing and none of them have expressed any serious glitches either.

I have played both the previous Fallout games and vastly enjoyed them both, so to make a blanket statement that "anyone who was a fan of the first 2 Fallouts will hate this game" is just erroneous. I would agree with someone who said this game is more of a Next Gen title in the Fallout Universe rather than a true sequel to the Interplay games.

However, that does not in any way detract from the epic amount of fun to be found in Fallout 3.

The adventuring around the Wastes is the highlight of the game to be sure. The amazing amount of freedom to roam the Wastes is just phenomenal, so much so that once you do decide to progress the Main Story it can seem very limiting and cramped at times, especially when crawling around through the DC Ruins and all the subway tunnels required to get to the Main Mall.

However, compared to the vast scope and size of the experience, this is a minor complaint and really a very short and small portion of the game. It should only take maybe 5 hours to explore it all and finish up some questing, then you can Fast Travel back whenever you want and get back to tearing it up in the Wastes.

Combat is quality, but it is NOT a Shooter. People expecting Shooter mechanics will be disappointed, as even point blank shooting still utilizes an in game Dice Roll to determine whether you hit and how much damage you do etc.

It is likely that people complaining about Ammo or clunky targeting are unaware of this game mechanic, but it is what makes the game an RPG, not a Shooter. There is ample amounts of Ammo (I have never run out in 70 hours of gameplay and I have killed over 1000 living -isms according to my in game stat sheet), but it is not unlimited like a Shooter.

The VATS mode is a good way to illustrate the difference. You queue up VATS and it will give you a stop-time targeting system. Within this system, you will be given percentages to hit on various Body parts: 87% to hit the head, 95% to hit the Body etc. However, these percentages are also indicative of how much of a chance you would have to hit those body parts OUT of VATS as well. So if you have a 50% chance to hit a leg in VATS, you have that SAME chance to hit in real-time it just does not illustrate it anywhere. SO even if your targeting arrow is Red, you still only have the same percentage to hit as you would in VATS. Which is to say you will miss and waste a ton of ammo if you just think "my target is red I can unload a clip".

Dice Rolls are a staple of RPGS, Oblivion had them, it was just not as noticeable because you were using Melee weapons, but every time your guy reared back to swing it rolled the dice to see if you would hit, how much of a damaging blow it would be etc.

The game has a wide array of voice acting, some is great, some not so much. The story has its ups and downs, but is good enough to not take away from the overall (it certainly helps that the great Liam Neeson is the Vault Dweller's Father, he is an example of the Great voice acting). Various mini-quests are actually more entertaining and interesting than the main story, so there is definitely enough Good story in the game to keep it interesting.

However, the game's strength is in solo-adventuring IMO. While you can get sidekicks and helpers, the real fun is being a Hero of the Wastes and taking down Super-Mutants, Raiders, Slavers and Death Claws all by your lonesome as you scour the Wastes in search of unique weapons, caps, ammo and mini-quests littered throughout.

Overall, I would rate the game a 9/10 and consider it the only game on Xbox 360 that gives Mass Effect a challenge for best title.

Update 4 in 2013: I recently downloaded the Fallout 2 from gog. Well, I got to say that, Fallout 2 is still infinitely times better than Fallout 3, regardless the upgrade in graphics.

Maybe you would argue that this is just "Oblivion with guns", but this "Oblivion with guns" has more to offer than just "Oblivion with guns", it has a massive story (according the guide I received today, after you completed the game you got tons to do), also the SPECIAL is back! Pipboy is back, I cant help crying after I created my character and saw a whole new wasteland, which was far more detailed than the game I played 10 years ago. Maybe you would argue again, Bethesda is incapable of doing top-notch black humor like Black Isle, but the feels of exploring the wasteland is back. Here I listed a few pros and cons

Pros

+ build of the whole wasteland

+ mission design

+ user interface

+ storytelling

+ Pipboy

+ tons of things to explore

Cons

cant skip the VATS slow motion

making choices wont affect the whole game too much, unlike Fallout1 &2, you have to pay for what you ve chosen

no item description........(huge disappointment for some old fans maybe)

In general, I would recommend this game to those who love Oblivion.

Update: the system is much more similar to Fallout 2 than to Oblivion, you have skills and perks, and at each leveling up you have 10-20 skill points(depends how much Intelligence you have) to distribute into a variety of skills, then you have perks like Lady Killer or Animal Friend. The system is deep and fun since you could be an agile and slick thief or a strong and stubborn warrior based on how you distribute your points and the initial attributes(S.P.E.C.I.A.L.).

Update 2: for those of you concerning CE, I got my CE from amazon on the releasing date, and this is the nicest CE I bought this year comparing to the Fable 2 CE and GTA 4 CE. The CE package has a neat looking lunch box, you could either put it somewhere as a decoration or use it as the storage for small stuff. That Pipboy figure is a fine-maded bubblehead. There is also an artbook of 100 pages featuring the concept art in Fallout3, and a DVD of making of the fallout 3. I think the CE is totally worth the price especially now amazon is offering the $10 giftcard.

Update 3: this game is not for you if you are looking for a first-person shooter like Far Cry 2 or Call of Duty! This is a role playing game.

Honest reviews on Fallout 3 - Xbox 360

I bought this game a few days ago, hoping that I made the right choice by picking this game over Tom Clancy's End War. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that I made the right choice now. Not since Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 have I ever found a game this addicting.

The world map is beautiful and extremely detailed. From radioactive rivers, to piles of rubble and smashed up concrete, the detail in these objects is amazing.

Im the type of gamer that HAS to explore every room, and check every nook and cranny to ensure that I have every thing that the building/zone has to offer. It takes me anywhere from 1-2 hours to completely clear most buildings and kill all the enemies inside. With the hundreds of buildings in the game, you can easily spend 100+ hours playing this game on a single character. I have read the complaints about running out of ammo, its complete crap. I havent run out of ammo yet, and I have a little over 40 hours completed so far. You may run out of "condition" on your weapons, but if you have your repair skill up, that shouldnt be an issue. If you play the game smart, and pick up the most valuable items you see and dont weigh yourself down with a lot of junk, you should have plenty of "caps" to buy ammo and repairs for your weapons.

In all, I can see myself making 2 more characters easily, just to experience the game differently. The current character I have is a good guy, but I will have to make an evil guy soon just so I can see how it affects the storyline. This game is definately a good buy!

I didn't write a review for Oblivion because there were hundreds of decent enough reviews that encapsulated my experience. I saw no need to add to the "ALSO, I LIKED IT, TOO, AS WELL" crowd without any negative comments worth mentioning.

The same dealy applies to Fallout 3, yet because of the sheer size and scope of it compared to Oblivion, I can be bothered to put both positives and negatives together into a decent enough review.

For note, I have never played any of the previous Fallout games, and showed no interest in them prior to this.

Also, I'll be dropping the name "Yahtzee" a bit, referring to video game reviewer Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw and his video reviews for The Escapist magazine.

Positive:

-The world is indeed tremendous, and compared to Oblivion, which to Yahtzee was merely a square mile of English countryside multiplied again and again with wolves and bandits added, this world is simply a gaping epic story in itself to look at. Ten hours into the game, I still can't get over stopping and staring at the horizon, and knowing that This is the way Washington D.C., has looked for two hundred years! Being a historian, this trapped me in a quantam vortex of awesome and pee-pants.

-The V.A.T.S. targeting system, which has slow-motion angle shots for combat scenes. While Yahtzee mentioned that it looked "groovy pants", he also pointed out that because it's basically the same thing every time you use it, it would gradually just become "pants". For me at least, it hasn't yet become pants, after ten hours of play.

-Realistic gore! The M rating is put to use here, in the form of excessive violence. While nowhere near the sort of explicit body explosions of something like "Rambo", I never get tired of seeing a point-blank gunshot to someone's head have a chance of blowing their head up in a mess of blood, bone, and mushy meat fragments. Nor do I tire of crippling someone's arm and seeing their gun fly out of their hand, or firing at someone's limb enough times to dismember them, or to sever their head from their body by utterly destroying their neck with bullets.

-Insanely top-notch graphics for a game of this sheer size.

-Play as male or female, with dialogue options altering to fit your gender (ie, you'll get compliments as to how much you look like your mother if you're female, or how beautiful you are, or how much of a bitch you are for trying to steal from them).

-Genuinely interesting story that pans itself out gradually.

-Interactive people all around, including Ghouls who are nice to you (there's even an implied lesbian Ghoul couple who run a hotel in the Underworld)

I'm sure there's plenty more great things to be said, but I can't think of any major ones to speak of and so I'll have to move on to the bad.

Negatives:

-I can't vouch for male characters just yet, but the customizable options for females is an utter mess. Faces are disgusting lumps of blotchy, rugged, seemingly acne-scarred messes (which considering that the character isn't raised in the Wasteland, but rather in the highly clean and stable environment of Vault 101, is a curiosity), and for some odd reason, every pre-set and color option always ends up with the same result---the women have 5 o'clock shadow on their upper lip, and around their chins.

None of the other in-game women suffer from these sort of options, managing to look like actual women, whereas your character is forced to look like a pre-op transsexual without a long, long time spent into wrestling with dials and sliders which, like Oblivion, are connected to one another, making it hell to mold the flesh with one slider without every other slider moving on its own to screw up your changes.

-The game is an action/adventure RPG, but it's still an RPG, so damage both taken and delivered tends to border on the ridiculous, as in one scene I had a pistol and used the V.A.T.S. system to put three bullets into a human opponent's head, and not only did they not die, but they were still standing, and continued to beat me half to death with a baseball bat until I had to punch them to kill them dead.

-Occasional game freezes.

-The instant-transport system from Oblivion is back, which has both good and bad implications in that you can easily move back and forth from places without spending hours wandering around the ruins, but it's done without any consequence to time or health or fatigue anything in between, so you can just teleport from place to place as much as you want as quickly as your game will load.

-As Yahtzee mentioned as the biggest problem with Oblivion's immersion failure, there is a limited number of voice actors for the Ghouls. I can thankfully say that unlike Oblivion, not everyone has the same two voice actors, but with the Ghouls in particular, there are quite literally only two voice actors, one male and one female, and they don't even bother changing up their voices when playing the Ghouls. As such, every Ghoul you speak to of a certain gender will sound exactly like one another.

-There are some audio tapes/files in the "Notes" section of your Pip-Boy (such as your father's personal diary entries and such) which are almost completely inaudible due to the low sound mixed with the poor recording quality. It's only by sheer luck, determination, strain, and high volume, that I've managed to understand half of what is said in these diary entries.

So the one I got didn't have the proper case or booklet. In fact, it came in a little square paper envelope. If you want everything including the game, get it new. If you don't care, get it used. It's the same game. It's a good racer for the PlayStation. All the vehicles turn really sharp, but you adapt quickly. Plus you can create your own race course with different themes. You can even edit main and trim colors on your rally cross vehicle.

This is the one game that I would play day in and day out, for more than a year. The one game where I discovered something new almost every time I played. It was the one game which brought me and my friends together religiously at least 3 or 4 times a week. Somehow it just wouldn't die, no matter how hard we tried.

At first, it just seemed so standard and bland. Playing muliplayer for the first time, I had problems finding guns and felt confused and bored running through the Temple level. soon, somehow, something clicked, and me and my friends ended up playing it for about 4 hours straight. Towards the end of that introductory marathon Goldeneye session, we took our first stride out of the standard Deathmatch restrictionincreasing my character's health to its highest limit and my friends fighting against me. Thus we coined the "God" mode, and we played this variant to death in the coming months.

It didn't end there. We had fests where we would do nothing but attack each other with punches. We bought a bunch of video cable and conected three televisions together to form a sort of splitscreen, LAN-type mode, covering up other player's screens so we wouldn't know where the other players were. We playedthe Team mode constantly, refining our knowledge of the levels and our marksmanship. Fed up with auto-aiming, we turned it off and further honed our skills. I began to be able to play the Complex level in my sleep. Proximity mines soon became an addiction. We pushed the game to its limits, learning that we could move the ammo boxes, shields, and guns around by shooting them, thus reworking their positions and creating large stockpiles in team games. We began to use Gameshark to unlock multiplayer maps that weren't intended for the final version, as well as increasing the limits on two and three player maps to four players. We discovered a code that turned one player invisible, and proceeded to do hunter-hunted scenarios over splitscreen.

Basically, it was the first game to really show limitless possibilities. It was a revolution for first-person shooters, and so many have overlooked this fact. It was the first to have targeting of individual body parts, over 20 weapons to choose from, realistic glass, shooting out of lights, and bullet holes, and for its time fairly revolutionary AI. All in all, it was an experience that defined video games for me, and few if any have matched it with a similar addictive experience.

Well,I'm a video-game player from Germany and I review GoldenEye here because unfortunately, this game is banned here in Germany.

OK,I bought this game 1998 and never really put it out of my hands.Last week,I erased a game file and started a new game after months and I have to say that this wonderful piece of video-game history is definitely the best game for Nintendo 64-ever!I like it even more than its inofficial sequel Perfect Dark. Even if you play the game hundreds of times, some missions are still hard to finish in the 00 Agent-difficulty.

The graphics are quite good and the animations of Bond's enemies are great! And altough the sound power of the N 64 is not that good,GoldenEye has music pieces that would be suitable for a 007-movie.Even the original Bond-intro and a new version of the 007-theme are included in this game!

But you have to mention the multiplayer mode, too,of course!I can tell you:if four friends sit in front of GoldenEye,you won't even recognize how many hours pass!

Even if this game is more than two years old,I highly recommend to buy this product if you don't already have it!

There doesn't appear to be much middle ground with regard to this RPG: either you like it or hate it. Yes the game has flaws and certainly lacks polish. This game could have been so much more in the hands of the correct developer. In my humble opinion, these reviews put up so far (as of 16 May 2012) here on Amazon do not do the game justice. This game is for fans of Westeros...whether you like the Song of Fire and Ice books by George R. R. Martin or the HBO series Game of Thrones. If one reads the Cyanide dev diary on this game they state the concepts for this game date back 7 years. This is long before HBO turned the books into the wildly popular TV series. As HBO crafted the visuals for series it forced the game to change to bring it in line with consumer expectations shaped by the TV show. I believe some of the lack of depth and quality can be attributed to this. However, it does not excuse the poor visuals and hodge-podge character graphics/animations.

What you do get with this game in lieu of cutting edge visuals is a solid story that takes you on a linear path (think FF XIII instead of Skyrim) and decent albeit repetitive combat mechanics. I have enjoyed my time in Westeros. It gets easier to overlook the visual flaws of the game when you are playing an engaging character and buy into what they are doing. I equally enjoy both of the main protagonists. The dialogue options seem appropriate and add to the most engaging aspect of the game, the story. Without spoiling the plot, you are faced with a grim story most of the game. If the player is not familiar with the series (book or TV) it will seem disappointing and sad in many aspects, but those knowing the way the books are it only adds to the story-telling aspect of the game. This isn't a Lord of the Rings-type fantasy or Dragon Age where good triumphs over evil. This is a story where life is rough, times are bad, and difficult choices have to be made.

I've seen some professional reviews of the game complain about the lack of character customization. This is misrepresented. Yes, you cannot choose your gender and you cannot choose how they look. You can choose their stats and skills and customize the class and choose any traits (e.g. bonus for being a good leader, resistant to poisons...etc.) to create a balanced character. What is meant by balanced is that these traits are optional. You don't have to pick any at all. Some are good and some are bad, but if you pick a good one, you also have to pick an equal bad one. Example: I picked poison resistance as a good one. So I had to pick a bad one too so my character was balanced. So I chose a trait that made me averse to bleeding. If I "saw blood" my ability to land a blow on an enemy was reduced because I didn't like blood. Keep in mind; you don't have to choose any of these. They are purely optional but add depth to the development of your character and can twist the strategy of how you play the game. Since I don't do well with bleeding, I avoid picking skills that cause enemy players to bleed.

The game has many flaws, but also some cool concepts. Fans of the books will probably enjoy the game as it adds to the overall story of Westeros. Fans of the HBO series will probably be disappointed. All must be willing to play through the unpolished aspects of the game.

I'm going to give the game 4 stars, but a 3.5 is probably more accurate. This isn't Bioware, Bethesda or even Obisidian that made the game. It is not an AAA experience and to my knowledge was never marketed as one.

Kids with ADD will not like this game, that much is clear. But if you are an adult gamer who used to enjoy "old school" 90s PC RPGs and happen to be a fan of GRRM, then you will most likely love this story driven game.

The voice acting is actually very good, and if you're a fan of the show, you'll feel right at home (especially since the music is the same). The graphics are serviceable, and the RPG elements are quite detailed, though again, suffer from some old school game design choices.

One particularly cool thing is that your dialogue choices directly affect your character perks/development.

The combat is not really turn based... more of a "slow down time to a crawl and queue up your next skills and actions" thing. It works well, and is challenging. You'll have to constantly choose the best weapon to deal with the enemy's armor.

The cutscenes are great, lots of dialogue, excellent codex. If you're a true fan of the books and show and don't get scared away by non-AAA game budgets, you'll love this. It is a quality game.

Best Deals for Game of Thrones (Art Book Bundle)

Let me start this off by saying I am new to the series. I have never read the books and I am about half way through the first season of the HBO series. So before playing the game for the first time I was aware of some characters, locations and lore but not much.

Gameplay:

As many have stated this game plays like what Dragon Age 2 should have played like. Some people have called the fighting boring, I would have to disagree. The combat is fun and rewards tactics. (IF you don't play of easy, which I assume you can just press the attack button a few times and wait for your foes to die) Much like Dragon Age 2, Combat at the start of the game is a little boring since you have yet to unlock skills and executions but by the middle of the game when hordes are crashing down on you it's rewarding to strategize a battle plan and not simply button mash your opponents into oblivion. (Hint: Make sure to utilize your dog as much as possible later in the game and on harder settings. The dog has saved me from the load screen on many occasions.)

Apart from the actual combat the rest of the gameplay is like your other RPGS. Exploring areas results in hidden compartments of cash and loot. There is not a lot of loot but it is worth searching around. Also searching with your dog lets you find loot that otherwise wouldn't not be available to simply pick up. (I didn't figure that out until about chapter 6 or I'm sure I would have found even more loot. An Example, there may be a fire pit that you have checked out with your character, if you switch to your dog and search the same fire pit all of a sudden there is a nice sword in there for you)

The Real Gem of the Game of Thrones is simple the story. (People complaining about the story have obviously not made it past chapter 4 of the game.) Like I mentioned before I'm not a huge fan of the series. (Well at least before I started this game) The Story for both characters is great, Better than most RPG's to come out recently. Kingdoms of Amular's story can't compare to Game of Thrones Lore. Not to mention the twists that I don't want to give away. Just make sure that you pay attention because much like the TV show there is a lot of dialogue to listen to.

Graphics...

While they are far from the best in the world; people comparing this game to PS2 graphics are simply spoiled whiners who don't remember the PS2. These graphics are not the best, but they do the job. The armor's look great but everything else you have seen before this generation.

Bottom Line:

The story makes you want to experience more of the Lore. I actually ordered the first book today so I can get started on catching up with the rest of you. The combat being compared to Dragon age is a fair comparison. ( I Beat Dragon Age Origins 7 times so I may be a little biased in exclaiming that I really like the combat of this game) The leveling system is fun and gives players a feeling of being unique while really not giving players a ton of customization options. I hope if they make a new game players can customize their character a little more. All and all Fun Game with a decent amount of gameplay. A little replay value as decisions you made the first time can be changed on a second play through. If you found this game for $40 bucks you are getting a good game at a great price. At $50 you are getting a solid game worth the money at $60 bucks you are supporting the video game industry and doing your part to help them balance their own budgets. Think of it as making a campaign donation this year that actually goes to a good cause.

Honest reviews on Game of Thrones (Art Book Bundle)

First I was kind of unpleasantly surprised the game has a quasi turn-based combat. But eventually it made sense. It is a story heave game, with long cut scenes, and a lot of dialogues. As a fan of the books, I really like it.

As I prefer RPGs that stress a story, I am really happy with this one.

The rest visuals, sound, and such are good enough for me. The game definitely does not look like my favorite wallpaper generator Skyrim ;), but for a small team on a tight budget it is understandable.

I gave 5 stars for a bundle. The art book is a nice touch, good quality, and free. BTW, I pre-odered this in February, so I got this bundle for 44.99, and I am glad that I did.

While I am only a few hours into the game, it is by no means as bad as some would have you believe. The graphics are not the best and the voice acting can be stail at times, but the story more than makes up for these minor issues. Many will point to the lack of character customization as a flaw, I find that there is just the right amount. You choice your characters class, set the standard RPG states (strength, intel ect.) and learn skills based on the character class you choose.

If you are a fan of the show you will enjoy it, you see some events from a different light than in the books and TV show. If your not a fan, you will probably get more enjoyment from another RPG.

For those who want a nice intermediate option because a stick is out of price range. This is what you want. It is far more responsive than the standard Xbox or PS3 controller, (moreso on the 360). It feels great, its a perfect size for your hands and will definitely help improve your game. This doesn't mean you will miraculously get better, only training will do that. You only get out what you put in after all. This will however help streamline the training process. It's great to have around for some SFxT, SSFIV AE, KoF, Blaze Blue or whatever you play. It is a little awkward for Mortal Kombat though.

The pad itself is very nice and sturdy. The floating D-Pad feels funny for about an hour, but once you adjust to it it feels fantastic. It makes SRK and quarter circle motions a lot easier to pull off. It also makes tagging and cross canceling in SFxT easier. It also makes doing (in air) moves a lot easier as they tend to be unresponsive on the standard issue controller.

The art is very nice and clean on it. It is however a little busy. Dhalsim, Hwoarang, and Sagat all look nice but Steve really got the shaft as he is not only barely on the controller, but also looks funny. This could have been remedied by making the design less busy with fewer characters.

In all this is a great pad that will help out your game if your a regular or intermediate player. If your getting really serious I recommend a stick but this is always great to have around, especially so friends don't have to use the xbox controller when they come over. If I could afford it I'd have at least 2. Definitely worth the price of admission.

This fightpad is great for its price!

It's a nice choice for those who want a better fighting game experience without coughing up the cash for a good fight stick.

Pros-

>Big, responsive, and durable face buttons.

>Lightweight

>Very nice grip on the back.

>Has a turbo button for all your spamming needs.

>It works with PC! (I'm a PC player so this is a plus for myself.)

>The D-Pad is floating (I prefer this)

>Wired with a Long Cable length

>Has a mic port (I cannot test the port as I do not own an xbox but it's there!)

>Has a switch on the back that allows the D-Pad to function as the right analog, left analog, or the D-Pad. This gives you some freedom to use this controller in other games.

--

Cons-

>>The D-Pad is floating. For some it might be a con since it does not feel like a traditional D-Pad.

> It feels just a bit cheap (This may vary from person to person depending on their definition of cheap)

> I do not like the feel of the shoulder buttons. They feel very odd but I've grown accustomed to them. Also let's be honest, you won't be using those shoulder buttons as often as the face buttons.

>> The face button next to the B button will not work if the game you are playing does not support Xbox trigger buttons. This is only a minor gripe for PC players as most games nowadays do support the Xbox controller's trigger buttons.

Overall I believe I made a wise purchase.

EDIT: It's been well over a year now and the controller is still going strong. It's lasted through Melty Blood:AACC, Street Fighter IV AE, Soku, and is now being put to work in the Skullgirls PC beta~

I would love to have a stick but since I don't want to invest in one yet, I got this. The D-Pad is responsive enough. Yes, it's hard to pull off some moves but when you practice, you can get around that. It's just something you need to get used to.

Pros

Good price

Good response

Cons

Slight learning curve

D-Pad is good but is a little loose, doesn't give full control but is passable for a pad.

Honest reviews on Mad Catz Street Fighter X Tekken - FightPad SD - Sagat & Dhalsim

This product is definitely for those who want to get away from the controller, but don't want to commit to a fight stick. Granted, some players prefer pad > stick. I am not one of them.

That said, I do enjoy the D-pad which is very maneuverable. I have no issues with directional controls but every now and then the responsiveness is a little off. That and the should buttons feel out of place. They are just sort of put on. Most of the time I end up disabling them as it's not worth the effort to switch up how I hold the pad.

I was not a fan of how lightweight it is. I prefer a noticeable amount of weight but this feels like nothing that catches me. I play with the controller on a surface and the weight (or lack there of) doesn't provide any resistance. The start button is on front, although it's not the easiest to just randomly press, so no worries of an accidental press in those clutch situations while fighting an opponent.

The back is this nice material that likes to grip at hard surfaces, and if you hold the pad, won't get too slippery for those who get sweaty palms while playing, and also is very comfortable. For the few times I held the controller, I was always impressed by this.

This is made for fighting games, so if you're not a fighting game fanatic, I wouldn't even recommend getting this as it probably won't improve your game. But it you're looking for a 6 button front layout without breaking bank, this is a good pad. I have had better, so we'll see if this lasts the test of time.

Oh yeah, the design on it is pretty awesome too.

it does it job, little tough to get use to the smaller set up... the thumb pad seems lower quality though, than the last few iterations of this controlloer

First off, installing these pads requires YouTube search for XBox 360 disassembly.

Once the pads are installed, scratched disks are a thing of the past. No more having to buy replacement games. No more lectures to the kids about taking care of the discs (it wasn't their fault after all lesson learned for Daddy).

This is a must-have for anyone whose discs get scratched by their XBox. Unfortunately, you find out you need them after you've destroyed a $50 game. Might as well buy the pads and install them anyway just to make sure you don't lose a game.

I was provided a copy of this game for review as I run a Mom blog titled "the Night Owl Mama". My son is 6 yr old and my daughter 11. My kids couldn't wait to jump right in and play this game when it arrived. You can play one or two players at the same time. The game provides a video tutorial to position your feet properly while playing the game. There are plenty of levels to unlock as you master the one's before but so far were still stuck in the first 3. The skate boarding game is the most fun as it's visually more appealing and requires a bit more movement other than foot position and leaning which is so much more fun for kids. My 6 yr old prefers the Skate Board game with the obstacle course over the surfing because the surfing is a lot like the obstacle course in Kinect adventures game just not much more too it than that. Surf and gather coins for points. Sponge Bob and Patrick give fun commentary during the game which makes it even a bit comical. Quick play mode is the preferred mode for my kids although there is another story mode which you can chose what your characters wear and board of preference. If your a Fan of Sponge Bob and want to ride the waves as Sponge Bob (or Patrick) or skate the turnpike this game is for you. No other equipment needed just Kinect and the game. Remember this is all virtual so no board needed. It's all on screen movements.

I bought this game for my kids, 3 & 11. It took us about 20 minutes to even get the Kinect to recognize us. And then during the game it couldn't find the 3 year old.

This looks like it could be a fun game but after 20 minutes of setting up each time its not worth it. I give a huge thumbs down. Very disappointed!

My kids tried playing it for 30 minutes but got frustrated because choosing the options through the kinect sensors was very difficult. The "Hot spots" to make a selection are very small and not sensitive enough to work correctly.

I bought this for a gift for my grandson, he hasn't said to much about it. But it did come in a timely manner, and it worked fine.
