Where's Waldo?: The Fantastic Journey Review

Where's Waldo?: The Fantastic Journey
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I think this should cost $15 or less. At almost $30, it's way overpriced! This review is specifically for the wii version.

There are only 12 scenes and they're taken from the books. Since it's subtitled "The fantastic Journey", I believe the scenes are all from "The Fantastic Journey" book--but I'm not sure on that. Yes, there is some animation and the game does speak most things so it works for kids who can't read. Yes, they did move where people are hidden so it's not a complete waste if you have the book (but the book is totally better!). The book is $8 on amazon (the paperback reissue). Your kids will get a lot more entertainment from the book and you won't have to worry about them scratching a disk!

Pros:

--You can do split screen 2 player.

--Very well animated. Not everything is animated, but there's always something moving on screen.

Great voices.

--They do mix up the gameplay with a few ideas like some "what's different in these two pictures" mini games.

Cons:

--short game, only 12 scenes

--Another draw of the books is that the whole map is spread out in front of you. Here you see a small part of the scene and scroll around. I think the game knows this is a pain because there are many scenes where you can't scroll around (or can only scroll a small area of the whole map).

--Oh and finally there are 15 second load screens! You choose your save game, and there's a 15 second load. You the choose your level, and there's a 15 second load. Then there's a lot of game play without load, but when you're comparing to a book--long load time is certainly a strike against the game.

The game is fun and it plays well. I'm sure they spent a lot of money animating it and doing the voice work. But for $30, it's totally not worth it. You can get the complete waldo for $30! Where's Waldo? The Complete Collection Six books for the same price as one short game! This really should have either been a $10 wiiware game with less animation/voice or it should have included at least 3 books worth of stuff!

If you like the search and find puzzle and want a good game for the wii: I suggest "Ultimate I spy" because it takes the I spy books to the next level. Ultimate I Spy The game lasts a bit longer, uses the I spy gameplay but in 3-d, and plays really well.

If I hadn't played the I spy game first, I might have liked the Waldo game better. As far as the Waldo game goes, you can't just take a book and use the same format in a game. You'll just want the book instead. Imagine a movie based on a book that just read every page of the book--totally wouldn't work! I Spy Wii is a game. Where's Waldo Wii is a book failing to be a good game.

The WII game is ok but I would suggest renting it or buying it used. There's not too much to the game besides a dozen or so 'pages' where you find Waldo and his friends, special objects, and enemies. There is also compare games (what's different between two pictures) and identify where a small picture clip is on the mural.

This game does not have too many scenes / levels and though it offers a few different types of puzzles there are not enough of them to keep you playing the game beyond the first few uses. As noted, it's a bit annoying that you play a puzzle fairly quickly and then have to wait and wait for the game to load this and that.

I jumped on this game because I got bored of Mii Matching on Play probably will research more before spending nearly $30 on a game next time!

I enjoyed playing the game. It reminds me of the book, except that there are a couple of levels you can choose from in regards to difficult. I played it on easy and intend to go back and play it on the harder level. There are some timed portions of the game that can be a little more challenging.

Honest reviews on Where's Waldo?: The Fantastic Journey

Bought this for my hubby's birthday and he loved the game, only bad thing was that he finished it completely in a very short time. The graphics are cool for any real Where's Waldo fanatic and my 6 yr old daughter enjoyed playing it too.

Before this game was released I was somewhat looking forward to it, but not with a great interest. Well thats until I actually played it. The first thing to blow me away were the graphics. They are absolutely breathtaking. The CG movies, the in game graphics, special effects, just amazing. But the game isn't all graphics and no gameplay. Believe it or not, the gameplay is actually better than the graphics. You can do everything you've seen ninjas do in movies. Swinging, climbing, wall running and of course slashing peoples limbs off. And it all just looks so real. The moves and weapons are also fantastic. Some of the coolest moves I've seen in any game for awhile. They are also easy for beginners, but hardcore gamers can spend alot of time on perfecting them. The stages are very varied and very large, the sound is nice and the enemies and weapons are also very varied. One problem that many people may have is the game's difficulty. It is very hard. The first boss, for example, is exceptionally difficult. If you persist, however, you will be greatly rewarded.

To start Tecmo & Team Ninja have really out done themselves with this one as the graphics in this game are simply a wonder to behold.

The game is hard, but not unfairly as it rewards intelligent playing as the better you make use of the combo system the more essence you receive from defeating enemies which helps to unlock more features.

The camera can be a little annoying, but its never much of a problem if you remember to use the right thumbstick especially when coming through new doorways. There are only really two spots when the camera is a bit more of a problem when facing multiple enemies usually more than three it tends to have a difficult time keeping a good focus on the action. It seems to be a bit lessened though if you can keep moving around. The second is when going through narrow passageways, but this can usually be resolved by using the right thumbstick.

The different moves look great and handle extremely well and are fairly simple to learn, but some are bit more difficult to master. The story is good though not to original, but fits the game well. The voice acting is good and fits the respective characters well, but some of the dialogue seems a bit dry probably just something lost in translation. The varied environments are simply stunning and the music fits each level well. The cutscenes are superb and simply the best around. The character designs are amazing as they are the best out there.

In all Ninja Gaiden is one of best games ever as it raises the bar for action/adventure games. If you play videogames and just want to mash buttons this is probably not the game for you, but if you like games that are good challenge which reward intelligent creative gameplay then you should love this. The game is not perfect, but is probably as close as a action/adventure game will come until the next wave of game systems come out.

Best Deals for Ninja Gaiden

Ninja Gaiden is simply one of the deepest, most rewarding video games I have ever played. I should explain that it took me a while to realize this depth and appreciate its greatness. I'm also writing this review minus one XBOX controller--smashed into oblivion in a less than Zen-like moment of game play. But in a way, the level of emotion that the game elicited was one of the signs of its greatness. For any other game that had frustrated me in this way, I would have simply quit playing, written a scathing review, then gathered the morning leavings of my dog, put them in a bag, and set them in front of Team Ninja's offices. Ninja Gaiden is good enough to make you want to get past your own frustrations.

In terms of game play, it seems to be an amalgam of a few different classics: Onimusha, Devil May Cry and Prince of Persia all come to mind. Third-person combat, minor platforming, boss fights and CG cut scenes drive the game. Each element is incorporated expertly and handled with style. At its core, however, this game is about combat. The fluidity, depth, and excitement in the combat persist as you play. The elevated difficulty of your enemies is partly responsible for this, as is the mood appropriate music, but I think my own satisfaction was also based on recognizing how I was improving as the game progressed. Although I try to incorporate a firm no-learning policy in my life, Ninja Gaiden managed to surreptitiously make me learn certain rhythmic button combinations. Don't let this scare you. It's not English class. You learn how to separate limbs and heads from bodies--not how to separate phrases and clauses. There are probably fifteen to two dozen moves to learn for each melee weapon. In addition, there are numerous projectile weapons and elemental spells that can be used to lay waste to opponents. Enemy grunts that are easily dispatched in other games are skilled opponents in Ninja Gaiden. And the boss fights you engage in are, to put it mildly, punishing.

Ninja Gaiden is also, hands-down, the best-looking console game I've ever played. The environments are spectacular and the character models look great. Not once did I detect a graphical glitch or imperfection of any kind. The collision detection was spot-on and there was no hint of graphical slowdown in this rapidly paced and highly detailed game. The only real complaint I had was with camera angles; in any other action adventure game, minor camera issues would be a simple nuisance. In Ninja Gaiden, with game speed and difficulty so elevated, less than perfect camera angles detract from the game and cause unneeded frustration. It doesn't happen often, but it happens enough to be noticeable.

The audio was another outstanding element. There was tremendous variation to the music and it seemed to fit the mood perfectly. Sound effects were also well done, with both combat and environment audio adding to the player's immersion level. The voice acting in the cut scenes was definitely over the top, but didn't take away from the game.

It should be pointed out that this game definitely deserves its M rating; it is bloody and chock full of decapitations, and Rachel, the most prominent and very memorable female character, looks like she's a porn queen and outfitted by some S&M fetishist. So it goes without saying that the cut scenes held my interest intently. Just keep young children away--unless you let them watch Brittney Spears. Then it's nothing they haven't seen beofre.

If you are able to stomach the punishing difficulty, this is one of the most polished and rewarding games for any system.

Honest reviews on Ninja Gaiden

I like to think of myself as a patient man. I read the reviews of this game and I'll admit it,I dismissed the reviewers that complained about this title's difficulty as whiners without the patience and/or tenacity to appreciate a challenge. How wrong I was. This game is an exercise in futility and frustration that would send even a zen monk on a red-faced, seething tyrade of hatred against the cruel developers. Yes, it is beautifully rendered (though I think previous reviewers might have overstated it's beauty; the cutscenes are amazing, but the in-game graphics are simply avarage), the storyline is intriguing and when a stretch of gameplay lasts more than five or so minutes (rare; repeated deaths followed by endless repeating of the same stretch of game is more the norm) one can almost appreciate the game's intent. I've given up somewhere in the 5th level, however, as rival ninjas repeatedly hurl seemingly inescapable bombs at me. I have a headache. This is not what I call amusement; it's torturous and I give up.

Upon reading others reviews it is impossible to rate this game because it is still in development. There isn't even a possible demo yet. I saw the game at Tokyo Game Show 2003 on Sept 27 Sunday a week ago ( I live in Japan). It really erks me when people rate a game that isn't done yet. I have seen about a 4 to 7 minute demo which is what I based this reveiw off of. In this game, which includes the main character running up walls and utilizing a variety of weapons including nun chucks, bow and arrows, and a sword there is smooth transition and interaction. The enemies are well developed characters also which includes a white haired buff guy that sports nun chucks, a dinosaur skeleton and zombie like creatures. I have to tell you that out of all of the games at the game show this game was the most impressive action game there. It was the only fast paced (unlike the stealthy Metal Gear Solid 3) action game that wasn't a devil may cry rip off, unlike cy girls which is a devil may cry slash metal gear rip off that I somehow managed to like anyway. This is the breakdown of the 10 best games at the show:

1. Half Life 2 (PC)

3. Ninja Gaiden (X Box)

2. Metal Gear Solid 3/Twin Snakes (PS2/ Gamecube)

3. Gran Turismo 4 ( PS2 sorry not a big racer fan)

4. Berserk (New PS2 game)

5. Shadow Hearts 2 (PS2)

5. True Fantasy Online (X Box)

6. Dinosaur Hunter (PS2)

7. Resident Evil Online (PS2)

8. Otogi 2 (X Box)

9. Suikoden 4 (PS2)

10. Eye Toy (PS2)

There will be a lot of Devil May cry clones coming out, so be on the look out. I never take time to write review but when I saw the rating for this game at a three star and it isn't even out yet I was upset because I know a lot of people buy games on Amazon and other online marketplaces, and they use the star review to buy their games, so trust me when I say this, this game is hot. But maybe you should wait for a professional review, but I aint, because this game along with other Tecmo titles convinced me to buy an X Box. nuff said.

Ordered two, one for me and a friend. Mine stopped working after two days, now it just vibrates nonstop.

This was a fun game with some great graphics and overall gameplay. While there were a few parts in the game that seemed a bit choppy in regards to how the animation plays into the mix, but outside of this I loved the ability to be able to work with the Autobot that I wanted to work with and change as needed too. Also, I have played a few Transformers games in the past and though there were a couple of rougher spots, this by far surpassed my expectations and if you are a transformers fan, you will just love this game, and even if you are just becoming a fan or have just learned about the movie or series you will also really enjoy the overall game, story line and adventure that you are placed in!

The game is very exciting and full of action. It's a little hard for smaller kids to play, coordinating with the nunchuck and controller. Older kids and adults would have no problem. The gameplay is smooth, great graphics and I can already tell I'll play it more than once!

Honest reviews on Transformers Prime: The Game - Nintendo Wii

Many have been saying that this game was a disappointment and too short. All I care about if some parts of the game are actually relevant to what is projected on the show. This game is action-packed, and simply an awesome game. Each character has their unique combos and special attacks, and I love how you can just ram the cons off the cliffs (I have done that an hour straight once, it's that fun to me ^^). Battling Megatron down to the final stand was always fun, and being able to play against your friends in Multiplayer Mode is always fun to. Thunderwing was a very unique addition to the game, I liked how they incorporated him as a final boss, because as any other Transformers game, the final boss would be Megatron. But, this game was like: "HOLD IT, Megatron's NOT the last boss! Meet THUNDERWING!". That's what really exceeded my expectations and really made the game fun, having Optimus utilize with the Matrix of Leadership was awesome, and defeating Thunderwing just made me feel like I've achieved something.

Don't listen to those who keep complaining that it's a short game! I just replay the levels so I get a perfect score/rank on each of them, to kinda 100% the game, y'know? This game is a must buy to Transformers Prime fans and all Transformers geeks out there!

My 7 yr old and I are big fans of the Transfromers Prime show and this game is based on that. Does a great job of letting you play as each member of the team and is challenging but not too hard for him to beat. He finished the game in 2 days but still loves playing over certain levels. And he loves the brawling feature as well. Recommend this game if you're a fan of the show.

This a collection of probably 3 of the best GTA games and I highly recommend this for a GTA new comer (only played GTA IV), if you are you will definitely enjoy the freedom and features located in San Andreas that you cannot get from IV. If you are not a new comer you will still enjoy these games a lot and chances are you have some experience with them. If you enjoyed this I recommend Grand Theft Auto Classics Collection (it's only about $10) and it's fun to see where GTA started. Also if you purchase GTA the classics collection and GTA the trilogy you will have all the GTA games except for GTA IV. Overall this product is great it includes the 3 games: GTA III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas. Each game is on two (2) discs and comes with the manual and a poster for each game. At first I had problems with the small clips in the case being very flimsy but it should be fine now (I called and had them fix the problem). If the clips are an Issue call them right away! Once again this is a really fun game and I highly recommend it.

*** UPDATE 05/06/2010 ***

The game worked fine on windows 7 for me. I don't understand what Micheal Wang is saying everything worked fine on 7 (which is even newer then vista). There were no issues and you can buy it with confidence even if you have a new machine.

I'm going to review each game separately, then the collection.

GTA3 is my personal favourite Grand Theft Auto game. It's so simple, yet powerful. It's a tad challenging on PC with a keyboard, so I tried to use my Xbox 360 controller... what an adventure. I'll get to that later. GTA3 is pretty fun.

GTA:VC is awesome. Everything that made GTA3 had been multiplied. Interesting storyling, fun gameplay... and it's always a blast to go on a rampage.

GTA:SA is the best Grand Theft Auto game I've ever played.

If you want to use a 360 controller, good luck. You'll have to download drivers, programs to get it to work with the games, as the triggers don't work. But once you get it to work, then use it. It's better than a keyboard and makes the game that much enjoyable. Or, save yourself the trouble and get a Logitech PS2 controller. So much easier.

Great game. I highly recommend it to anyone.

After quite a few years of dissapointing releases the NBA Live series has done itself proud with NBA 2008. The biggest improvement being the realistic games play, and the shotting, passing and all-round movement graphics.

GAMEPLAY Simply outstanding. With 100s of different moves and the control you have over the dribbler with the right analog stick, the gameplay is more realistic then ever. The rebounding battles are fantastic. The new OWN THE PAINT feature is great, with posting up giving you an array of options to use in order to create your shot. The artificial Intelligence is also greatly improved, with defensive covers switching and helping each other out, and back door cuts etc.

GRAPHICS Looks better than ever. Not as huge an improvement as the gameplay but it really looks great, and the players have their own features and facials are great.

LONGEVITY Fantastic, you can play untill the end of time with the great dynasty mode with more features than ever, statistics and management options making it even more enjoyable.

FEATURES The new international mode has been introduced. As yet only 8 countries to choose from but a big step in the right direction with world championship mode. As well as this feature all the usuals, practice, dynasty, all star weekend etc.

SOUND The commentry in particular is excellent this year. With far less repetitions, and far more natural talk in what is actually happening in front of you.

OVERALL BUY THIS GAME!! Finally an NBA game with non stop enjoyement and realism, you wont be disapointed.

I definitely have some gripes about this game but they weren't enough to make me put my controller down. It is fun but how much the little things bother you will certainly be a factor in how much you enjoy this game.

GAMEPLAY (the most important part): The controls are nice. I don't have any problems getting my guys to do what I want them to do. The use of the right stick to do crossovers, spins, etc. is nothing new but still works really well.

The CPU will still violate your personal space when you are trying to maneuver, making it hard to get past them unless you can blow by them before they get to you. As far as the Pro-Hop feature, or whatever it's called, it doesn't seem to work for me. I've coughed up the ball each time I've done it.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, jumpers are hard to come by and scoring your points in the paint is the optimal way to do it. I have more success with mid-range jumpers than long-range and 3s. One possible reason for this may be the addition of the Hot Zones, which tell you where a player is prone to making/missing shots. I don't pull it up all that often but it's very possible I'm taking shots from the cold zones.

Easy layups are still missed far too often. The split isn't 50/50 but I'd guess it's somewhere near 80/20 (making/missing).

Rebounding is more evenly distributed than in past games. I've never been able to grab rebounds and my CPU teammates always got out-rebounded as well. This year your teammates will do a very good job at grabbing those boards to get you started on your fast breaks.

Fast breaks work pretty well, provided you adjust your Transition Style to allow for more fast breaks. By default it, it is a 50/50 split for fast breaks and taking it up the court slowly.

Reach-in fouls are called a little too much in this game but offensive and shooting fouls are called just about as much as you would see in a normal game, maybe a bit less. Adjust the sliders to fit your preferences. As far as shooting fouls go, you definitely get your share of "and 1s."

There is a slight learning curve with free throws. I didn't play Live 07 so I'm not sure if it is the same system or not. It consists of you pulling down on the right stick and then pushing up at the right moment to successfully make your free throw. If you miss, there is an overlay that pops up giving you hints on what you did right and wrong. Overall, it works pretty well once you get the hang of it.

Alley-oops looks a little cheesy because the flight of the ball is like half of a McDonald's arch. I know they are supposed to be lob passes but the trajectory just looks funky. I've yet to miss an alley-oop though.

AI: The CPU AI still makes the PG the one you have to worry about the most. Who needs Elton Brand when you have Sam Cassell? Kevin Durant? The Luke Ridnour/Delonte West combo is what will bring the Sonics to the promised land. They will also use up most of the shot clock, so you can forget about both teams consistently pushing it up and down the court.

ANIMATION/GRAPHICS: I think the graphics are great. Everything just looks really clean. The lighting is great. Player models work out well, for the most part. Baron Davis looks spot on, as does coverboy, Gilbert Arenas.

The animation is great too. Baron Davis' stepback jumper looks just like it does in real life. Gone are the days when the CPU would set a pick and your guy runs into him and just looks like he is running in place. Now you actually see some effort by your player to get around the pick.

MISCELLANEOUS: Commentary by Marv Albert and Steve Kerr is done pretty well. You won't hear too many repeat phrases in one game but they will probably repeat it in the next game.

The menu system works well, as you use the D-pad to navigate pre-game and in-game menus.

The music hasn't been too inspiring yet, but this is all subjective. I prefer to hear more upbeat music but so far I've only heard lower BPM songs.

There are online leagues as well. I believe you can go with a public league or create a private one. There is also supposed to be a patch released in the near future which will allow for 5v5 games.

OVERALL: It's the things like the frequency of missed layups and CPU PGs being beasts that make me give this game 3/5 stars. The former shouldn't even be an issue and I can't understand why EA wouldn't address this. It really is a downer. Despite the missed layups, I rated the fun factor higher because of the improvements in gameplay. These improvements compensate for the shortcomings, leaving you with a fun, yet slightly frustrating experience.

Best Deals for NBA Live 08 - Xbox 360

Every year, it's the same debate. Should I get the newest incarnation of NBA Live with all it's promises of better gameplay than the year before or should I stick with the reliable, yet bland 2k series? Well this year, I actually find myself playing NBA Live 08 more than I do NBA 2k8. That's not a knock to 2k8, but I find Live 08 to be a more straight-forward basketball experience. There are no crazy gimmicks that detract from the gameplay.

So what's new this year? Everything. The game has been completely rebuilt from the ground up with gameplay being the biggest improvement. Low post players can now dominate the paint with a variety of offensive moves (spins, hook shots, pump fakes, etc.) Cross-overs and juke moves using the right thumbstick are more fluid and realistic and new signature moves are also a nice addition. For instance, while holding the right trigger and pushing either the dunk or shoot button, your superstar will pull off a power move only unique to him that increases the chances of having the shot go in. There's even a nice video tutorial during the shoot around session at the main menu which shows each superstar's primary signature move.

The graphics have been given a complete overhaul and surprisingly, I found that the player models in Live 08 were much better than the ones in 2k8. Facial modeling is superb and dead on. EA really went out of their way to create eaThe courts look accurate and are cleanly rendered. The crowds are also very nice and don't resemble spray-painted card board boxes as they do in other sports titles.

Despite the vast improvement in this year's game as opposed to the year before, there are still a couple of glaring problems that are downright maddening. The worst is the ridiculous loading times before a game. I once clocked it at four minutes. Online games are not much better.

The A.I. substitutions can also be a little loopy as point guards will occasionally be substituted for centers. Point blank shots near the rim tend to clang off the metal and there are instances where a player with the ball will be standing clearly out of bounds and nothing is called.

Despite these bugs, I still enjoy playing Live 08. It's not much better than 2k8, but I appreciate the fluidity of the controls and the excellent visuals and player models. Good job, EA.

Honest reviews on NBA Live 08 - Xbox 360

I follow both EA and 2k sports basketball games....as I am an avid basketball fan. Both offer unique styles of gaming. Seeing no review of this game made me write a brief one.

NBA Live 08 is a great game. I would consider it the first next-gen basketball title to date. The graphics are very polished, textures and all, and is by far the best looking basketball game made to date. The updated physics are great, much more realistic than the past Live games of the series.

Dynasty mode is great as usual, all-star weekend is great(3point contest and slam dunk contest), practice mode, and so many others. The variety of modes is a good add on. The online play is great, with online leagues that work great, never having to play at a certain time or set schedule.

Controls are near perfect, but some delay. The dribbling moves dedicated to the right thumbstick are still present, and are remarkable. The game plays more uptempo compared to a 2k game, as Live always has...but that's what we love. The ability to post up, run offense, isolate and drive by your man, run pick and rolls, as well as many other things make this game a must have. The only con is the arcade style, which makes it to easy to get to the rim and dunk at times. Other than that, I have invested many hours and days into this game the past year, and definitely think it is a turning point in EA's Live series franchise. With 09 coming out, and it's demo displaying even more realism and physics, they got it right with this game, and are only building from it!

Easily the best 360 basketball game to date....a close one to 2k8, but Live08's graphics make it the true next gen experience!

This is one of the best basketball games made to date. Last year's version was not very good but when I played this game I immediately noticed the difference. This game is very smooth and the graphics are amazing. No more glitches. The new game modes are great as well. I recommend this game to any sports fan.

Since it seems like Amazon just puts all the reviews for all of the 3-packs together, I'll say that, in general, any of the 3-packs are worth the price since you're really only paying about $6.67 for each figure (as opposed to shelling out $7.99 for each separately).

Each character in the game has their own element, which are needed for unlocking restricted bonus areas (which usually contains additional coins and hats), but aren't required to complete the game. In total, there are eight different elements: magic, earth, life, undead, fire, air, water, and tech. If you only own ANY of the starter pack (which includes the game and the "Portal of Power"), then you already have three of the elements covered: Spyro (magic), Trigger Happy (tech), and Gill Grunt (water).

Now, at the time of this writing, only 3 packs are available (I can only assume more will come in the future). The three packs are:

Drobot (tech), Flameslinger (fire), and Stump Smash (life)

Eruptor (fire), Chop Chop (undead), and Bash (earth)

Prism Break (earth), Boomer (tech), and Voodood (magic)

So if you're looking to cover each one of the elements (or want to buy the bare minimum to keep your kid happy and not tear your wallet a new one), the best choice is to go with the Eruptor, Chop Chop, and Bash pack. Then you can purchase the last two elements (life and air) separately.

Skylanders is a great game for kids 6 13 and old school gamers (like me) in their 30's. Co-op with a parent and child works great. The game can be played with just the three starter characters, but it is best realized by having at least one character from each class (8 in all). The 360, Wii, and PS3 starter sets come with (1 magic, 1 water, 1 tech), so you will want to add at least (1 life(leaf), 1 fire, 1 air, 1 undead, and 1 earth (mountain)). This character set will get you a fire character, a life character and a 2nd tech character. While this set doesn't get you as close to all 8 classes as the Character pack 3 does, it offers 3 character's that are particularly fun to play, Flameslinger is a fire archer that blows up enemies at a distance like a beast. Drobot shoots gears, lasers from his eyes, can fly, and has a really cool voice. Stump Smash is a melee tank. These characters compliment each other well. To get the other 3 classes I would buy the crypt expansion to get undead Ghost Roaster, Pirate Seas to get Terrafin(earth), and Sonic Boom(air) for a boy or (air) Whirlwind for a girl (shoots rainbows).

If you want to get all 8 classes the cheapest route possible then buy character pack 3 (Eruptor, Chop chop, Bash) then add a single Stealth Elf (life) and a single Sonic Boom or Whirlwind. The only caveat here is I personally didn't enjoy playing any of the characters from Character pack 3 as much as the others. (note: I'm a nut and have all 32 characters)

Best Deals for Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Triple Character Pack (Drobot

Great "booster pack" for the starter pack, perfect first place to start expanding the game. Assuming you bought the starter pack (required to play), if this is the first thing you buy, you'll get another tech character (perfect for 2 kids who are splitting 6 figures, for example) and then 1 fire character and 1 plant character, which will greatly help as you progress in the game.

Honest reviews on Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Triple Character Pack (Drobot

The game in and of itself is fun. I have characters from all elements except 2 (life and Air), which kind of sucks because I can't go into specific areas due to not having the other two elements. However, I will not pay these ridiculous and criminal prices. I completely agree, supply and demand can cause prices to rise, but these prices are just the result of some serious money hungry people who want to rip everyone else off. Normal price for 3 pack is $19.99. Normal price per individual Skylander is $7.99. Don' t get ripped off by these people and pay more then that.. Send the message, we will NOT be ripped off because you stole all the supplies and are now jacking up the price beyond what is even reasonable.

Best Jaws Unleashed - Xbox Deals

Jaws Unleashed - Xbox
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
Despite mixed critical reaction Jaws: Unleashed is a flawed but ultimately solid and innovative game. The concept of playing as the definitive oceanic apex predator is a brilliant conceptual premise that is occasionally hampered by an unresponsive camera and some sporadic glitches. Nevertheless, there is some quality here and those looking for something outside the norm may find this game worth the investment.

JAWS: Unleashed is an open-ended game set up very much like the GTA titles. After playing the tutorial and first level, the game allows you total access to a massive ocean with primary story missions that cam be activated at any time. The map is also littered with numerous side missions, most of which are time trials and fetch quests that range from mundane (hunting dogs) to entertaining (eating bungee cord jumpers). Like the GTA games, Jaws allows you to do as you like and select side missions whenever you choose while forcing you to play story missions in a certain predetermined order. Also like GTA, you can opt to simply roam the large world map, dining on sea creatures and attacking humans in their various seafaring crafts.

Admittedly, roaming the open sea is more enjoyable than most of the story missions. Simply swimming around and attacking boats, swimmers, and other sea creatures is surprisingly fun and the sheer variety of prey keeps the game play from getting stale. As Jaws you'll encounter all manner of sea life including dolphins, whales, and a variety of fish including other sharks. Some prey will fight back while others will be helplessly consumed, all of which fill both your hunger and health meters. Humans are predictably the most fun to hunt and they appear in all manner of boats and vehicles, including jet skis and helicopters. Almost any vehicle can be brought down with enough damage and fleeing swimmers make entertaining and nutritious diversions. Kill enough people and you may eventually be hunted by the coast guard, another nod to the GTA franchise.

Story missions are sadly not as inspired as open ended exploration. Most of the story missions involve the destruction of something and these missions are typically both a hassle to play and less fun than the open-ended component of the game. It is also at this point that the Jaws becomes less realistic and more fantastical, with the shark performing activities such as hurling explosives and solving puzzles. While some of these elements are forgivable and admittedly clever in terms of implementation, the game mechanics that propel these types of missions forward never seem as solid as rest of the game. Compound this with the fact that many of the story missions are confined to smaller, difficult to navigate areas and you are left with an uneven experience. Still, some story missions are quite enjoyable, specifically those which have you attacking aggressive shark hunters or hitting up the local beach as your own personal buffet.

The camera is also a nagging issue, although no worse than what is found in many other 3D titles. Set behind the shark, it works decently in open water but has a tendency to become useless in more confined spaces. Manual control of the camera does allow for some relief but unfortunately rotating the camera is a slow process and can sometimes makes matters worse. Other glitches include occasional frame rate drops and some nasty collision detection issues that allow the shark to become entangled in any number of underwater structures and debris. What's interesting is that Appaloosa's more realistic approach to developing this game has made Jaws that much more difficult to play; since the shark cannot swim backwards, his extraction from certain locations and areas becomes much more challenging and ultimately frustrating.

Despite these issues, there is quite a bit of fun to be had in Jaws: Unleashed. Even though the camera is less than perfect, the controls are surprisingly intuitive once mastered and allow the gamer to pull off all manner of maneuvers ranging from charged speed boosts and tail swipes to stealth kills and sensational leaping attacks. The controls for the shark are not dissimilar from those of a flying or driving game, allowing for acceleration and turning but with an emphasis on physics and mass. Even though most of this game is about eating anything within range, the developers have done a solid job in implementing a sizeable arsenal of attacks. While most of these attack techniques ultimately serve the same end, the variety nonetheless is welcome and keeps the carnage from becoming stale.

Graphically, Jaws: Unleashed is serviceable but uneven. The underwater backgrounds and water effects are solid and Appaloosa has done an admirable job of imbuing the ocean environment with subtle and realistic details. Even more impressive is the number and variety of marine life that populates this game, giving the environment some much needed animation that supports the illusion of a living, viable eco system. The shark itself looks very good and animates even better, while the other sea creatures populating the game contain a lower level of graphical polish but still look and move realistically. Considering the large scope of the title and the size of the game world map, the graphics are easily on par with other open-ended games of this type. The human sprites are probably the ugliest characters onscreen but thankfully they are small and make up for their lack of detail with solid animations.

Perhaps the most impressive graphical element of Jaws is the carnage. Despite being based on a PG rated film franchise, Jaws is a bloody, violent game that earns its M rating with room to spare. Every creature in the game is edible and most can be torn apart into bloody chucks, including humans. As a point of fact, the human models can be ripped apart at practically any joint, making the sight of severed arms, legs and even heads a common occurrence. This gory goodness is punctuated by the realistic animations of flailing swimmers trying to escape the maw of the shark. As you whip their rag doll bodies back and forth, blood clouds the water and envelopes everything within a murky crimson hue punctuated with tattered appendages and viscera. The more sadistic gamer can opt to swallow their prey and chew it down or even allow a wounded swimmer to attempt an escape towards the surface (often sans an appendage) and trailing a stream of blood in their panicked wake. Most swimmers will frantically try and escape the jaws of the shark and sometimes they will actually succeed in between your bites. Other characters, such as divers, will pull knives and begin stabbing you even as you bite down on them, doing damage to the shark as you kill and devour them.

As for sound, it's a bit of a mixed bag. The voice over-work is atrociously delivered and effectively dilutes any narrative quality this title might have delivered. However, other effects, such as the muffled, gurgled screams of victims underwater are actually handled quite well, along with the anguished exclamations of those on the surface. The music is passable and makes solid use of the now infamous Jaws theme though more strategic placement of this music would have been appreciated. As a whole, the sound reflects the budget and, voice acting aside, it gets the job done.

Ultimately, the pros far outweigh the cons, making Jaws: Unleashed an entertaining romp through a playable predatory gaming construct. The biggest strike against this game is largely budgetary and because of this Jaws misses being an uncontested AAA title. Still, there is much to enjoy here, especially given the open-ended nature of the game play coupled with a gory and satisfying dismemberment engine that will make the more macabre gamer squeal with a certain unhinged delight. Even more important is that the game does a solid job of emulating the look and feel of the original film and includes several nods to the classic movie while attempting to convey a decent (if underdeveloped) story. For the budget price, Jaws: Unleashed delivers a unique and competent game experience that is sure to please anyone looking for something different.

Jaws is screaming bloody good fun. It is not designed to be one of the best graphically looking games of all time, or even the most intelligent, but it has bags of surreal murderous mayhem to offer and not since `Manhunt' has there been anything quite as violent as it. I am very surprised that it doesn't have an M for Mature rating for the console although the PC box does. I think the RP rating is a very low rating. The game features bodily dismemberment quite literally as people are chewed up into bags of blood with their body parts floating about. They bawl gargling and try to swim to surface missing a leg. The fun you have with this game in the first few days makes it absolutely a must have. If you own a PS2 or XBOX or a PC get JAWS UNLEASHED, especially if you are fan of the movie. How can anyone refuse to play as a great white monching up swimmers and divers? The shark movements are great because you can increase your shark attributes as the game progresses. You can stealth kill swimmers, jump up onto boats, catch people in mid air, drag them under water, torture them, play with them chomp them up into a bloody mess and then go on a free run and do it all again. The story is totally different from the movie but it does include themes very similar to all four films. There are many levels which do require some brains to work out how to solve certain puzzles. In fact I was surprised by how much this game did have to offer considering that it look like a low-entry level console game. It is far from it! This is a fully charged arcade thrill kill with more gore than you would have anticipated. It has you laughing loud at the outrageous things you can do with the shark. You have never played anything like this before, not will you again. And remember this should have been an M rating as the PC box states. The shark is literally tearing people up quite graphically.

So, seeing as Jaws was my all-time favorite movie as child growing up I saw no alternative to owning this particular piece of digital entertainment. The design is fairly impressive, its pretty fun BEING the shark for once, roaming the coast and causing mayhem, though I admit, after a while the magic wears a little thin. Much in the way the Assassin's Creed series is like Grand Theft Auto: Renaissance (you know what I mean), Jaws Unleashed is like Grand Theft Auto: Marine City Stories. That being said you should assume that missions are involved and that in between said missions you have free reign over the sea. At time the missions prove both fun and challenging, doling out both in equal parts and making it a pleasure to play. At other times the missions get tedious and clunky, some due to the controls versus the demands of the mission and some due to being just plain way too hard (and way too hard, way too early). Just know that I don't shy away from most challenges in video games and some of these made me flinch.

NOW, let me get to my main gripe: Fun game, but you better make darn sure you NEVER get rid of your ORIGINAL Xbox if you want to play this game because its one of those titles that is absolutely NOT going to work on your 360. Now normally I would have just bought a 360 and put the original away for a bit but GameStop had a deal going on with trading-in and all that bizznass so i no longer have it and can no longer play this game. sad but true.

other than that, worth it. Looks good, fun, and fun to share with people.

I rarely hand out 5 star reviews, if ever. I was in my mid-twenties when a friend showed me this. You can still see that the graphics are absolute top notch for SNES. The genius of the interactivity will seduce you to finish it, but of course some levels will be your favorite. It's quite funny too. If you like this game then you should play Conkers Bad Fur Day for the later unit: Nintendo 64.

Probably the quirkiest platformer ever created, Earthworm Jim is a terrifically amusing title and a classic piece of video game history. Though the game has graced many other consoles, from its counterpart on the Sega Genesis to its more recent high-definition versions on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, I tend to favor the SNES rendition for its comprehensive controls and admittingly, slight nostalgic value. However, if you find yourself without a Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis, I would still highly recommend this game even if it doesn't come with the added tickle of a classic controller in hand.

The gameplay in Earthworm Jim is fairly straightforward, playing in a classic platformer/pseudo run-and-gun fashion. The wild and insanely bizarre worlds are filled with odd-looking and ferocious dogs, pesky birds and plenty of outlandish bosses. You will find your face stuck in a permanently confused and awkwardly giddy position the entire experience as you are constantly bombarded with one nonsensical scenario after the other. It's this peculiarity and unconventional approach that makes Earthworm Jim a unique and unmatched triumph. Get this worm before it's gone!

I remember playing this game as a kid, so I had to get it and see if it was as good as I remembered. For the most part, it was :) However, I found that in the Earthworm Jim games, there will be a couple levels that just stray from fun and into crap. But, I still recommend this game, just look up some cheats to get through the bad levels.

Honest reviews on Black 4 in 1 USB Battery Pack and Cable Kit 4800mAh Rechargeable

I am very pleased with this bundle, and to think that I almost passed on this deal because of the no name brand. Product arrived on time, it was just as described and everything seems to be working just fine. What I really needed was a charger so the battery (at least for me) was a bonus. Now the materials used to construct this bundle feel somewhat light and cheap but as long as it continues working as it should I have no problem with that. To surmise, if you need a charging cable or even another battery pack this is not a bad alternative especially for the price. On another note, why do I need to rate this item on terms of "fun"?...

Great controller, it was exactly as described. Very professionally made, even the box it came in was professional. The mods work great, even though it has settings for specific games, the settings don't work out that great by the directions. For mw3 it says to use the first settings. The third settings actually worked better. The guide button lights up blue when it rumbles, the LEDs are white and almost make the whole button glow which is a neat added effect. My only complaint would be that when the mod is on the 4th led flashes constantly. I like the fact that it uses the sync button to activate so there are no extra buttons on the bottom of the controller. I have built 2 other controllers myself, this has easier settings to switch to akimbo than my other ones. I had to cycle between modes on my other controller. This one you can turn each trigger on individually. This makes it easier if you switch between a primary and a secondary akimbo weapon. Needless to say I am impressed with genius mods. I know it looks expensive but if you have ever built one from a brand new controller it would cost at least $70 for controller, trim, buttons, and rapid fire chip. So really the price is not that bad. Not to mention soldering LED's on your controller is not very easy, and these come with custom LEDs also. My wife is wanting me to build a pink one for her, and when I priced the parts it was going to cost me $80 just to build it. I'll most likely just order it from genius mods instead.

This controller is very high quality, it performs with perfection. The only complaint I have is that the controller looks a bit different than it does in the pictures, the only difference was that the triggers were gold instead of black, but other than that it is an overall great buy.
