I ordered this controller on March 11 with a delivery estimate of March 20 at the latest. On the day it was supposed to arrive, I checked the tracking status as I do everyday for my shipments and it was still showing "Electronic Shipping Info Received" which only proves the company has paid for the shipping label. I emailed them and asked what was wrong and they said they'd look into it. A few days later it still showed the same thing on the tracking page and I emailed them again. Alas, the day after that, USPS shows on their tracking "Accepted at Origin Sort Facility" which means that's when they finally brought my package to the post office. They tried to play it off by saying "we'll send you a replacement" and the one that I'm seeing that's now shipped out is supposed to have been the replacement but I know it was just a face-saving ploy because it was the same tracking number throughout. If I was actually sent a replacement, it'd have a new, different tracking number so this just shows they didn't ship my package until 16 days later after several inquires.

The quality of the controller was not perfect. Improper care of the controller during installation of the mod chip by the technicians caused the right analog stick to randomly, slowly drift during play. Imagine not touching your controller but your character is turning slowly at random times during play. This was easily "remedied" by moving the analog stick in any direction but it is a hassle and distracting to the gameplay when your controller acts without intention. So I email GeniusMods360 and tell them the problem and they tell me I have to send it back and they'll either replace it or repair it. They were unwilling to send out an identical replacement for me to use in the meantime during the limbo I'll be without my controller when I'm sending it back. I even told them there aren't trust issues with this because I can just be billed for the replacement if I don't send back the original. They still tell me to send it back while conveniently ignoring my request for them to send me a unit to use but whatever, I've come to expect passive behavior and disappointment with this company. I send the defective unit back and I'm told their technicians will troubleshoot it and determine if I will get a replacement or a repaired unit. I know this means I'm going to get a repaired unit because it's obvious a company of this caliber will do whatever it takes not to send out new units if they can help it. 10 days later, April 24th now, and I get my controller in the mail. Of course it's my same unit, "repaired". But instead of the technicians actually repairing it, they only loosened the tension on the analog stick such that it wouldn't slowly drift anymore, but also with the side effect that the stick doesn't recognize ANY minuscule input. That means I can move my stick ~5 degrees in any direction and it won't register any movement. Micro-adjustments in game are important as any other aspect of what a controller provides and they stripped it of this ability as a lazy "fix" to my drifting problem. I emailed them again and just requested a refund. Will never buy from this company again. YMMV with this company.

I recently ordered (and received) the Geniusmods controller for my son. We both have played with it and this is my review.

I have to state that my initial opinion of this controller was not so good. I had super high expectations that this would completely revolutionize our game play...But, after working with Geniusmods, I'm super happy with them and their controller. I'll give you my 2 issues first and then end with the positives.

2 Issues:

Issue 1: Modded controllers change the power distribution and ohm load; some controllers are VERY finicky when you go around messing with how they distribute power. Unfortunately, the one I initially received had a very bad aiming issue. The controller would not aim where I pointed the stick, it was very jerky. Though, I decided to play through this and see if I could adapt. Long story short, I could not. If I couldn't, I know my son couldn't!

Issue 2: Unfortunately, day one out of the box, I broke it. I had been playing with the controller for a couple of hours. Obviously I had to test it before I gave it to my son :) and in a heated battle I had been gripping the controller so hard I accidentally pushed in "mod" button and was unable to turn the mod on or off (I was playing with it mods on and mods off to get a good feel for how much different it would be).

Being the tech wizard that I am...I figured I could easily fix the controller; and we just got it, so I didn't want to send it back and have to wait again. Long story short...I couldn't fix the controller.

The Positives:

Positive 1: EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION! I sent an email to Geniusmods explaining my issues. I even mentioned that I opened the controller to try to fix it myself (thus voiding my warranty). I received a call from within an hour from the customer support team and they were very sorry to hear about both issues I was having.

Positive 2: WILLING TO STAND BEHIND THEIR CONTROLLER! After I explained the aiming issues, they immediately asked me to send it back to them to fix it. The lady I spoke with was concerned that I had opened the controller, but she said that as long as I don't open the new one, she will honor their warranty, fix the one I have and send it back to me (after ensuring the aiming issue is worked out).

Positive 3: WILLING TO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND! I have multiple scuf controllers and I really like having the paddles on the bottom. I wanted to give one to my son, but I also wanted him have the functionality of the modded controller too. While I was on the phone with them I asked if they could combine the two controllers, she said that they could (for a nominal fee of course)...let me tell you, the nominal fee was very reasonable! So, I sent them the bottom half of one of my scufs and their controller.

Positive 4: MORE EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION! After I sent back my controller, they constantly kept me up to speed (via email) with what they were doing and when I could expect my controller back. They took some extra time to ensure the aiming issues were worked out and to ensure nothing was wrong with the controller.

Positive 5: CONTROLLER WORKS GREAT! My son is extremely pleased with the controller! The rapid fire modes work great, the aiming is smooth and spot on, and the look and feel is great!

Overall, I am very pleased with Geniusmods and if I want a modded controller for myself, I would definitely order from them. One piece of advice though, a modded controller will NOT help you aim better. If you play poorly because you can't aim, this won't help you...well, that's not technically true, it will help you because it does reduce the recoil of the gun...but, It won't help you initially get on target.

I hope this review was helpful!

Review of Forza Motorsport 5 Day One Edition

Forza Motorsport 5 Day One Edition

This is easily the best Forza in the series in regards to vehicle physics, handling, AI and sound. The actual gameplay is phenomenal. Unfortunately it's easily the worst Forza in the series in all other regards. The efforts that the developer have made to further monetize the series with tokens stinks of Free-to-Play manipulation on a AAA title. The features have been completely neutered in order to entice the player to purchase tokens with real money, which are offered at exorbitant prices.

Additionally, Forza has always done a great job with DLC but have decided to double the price of car downloads this time around. The content (cars and tracks) have been cut in half (really even more), and although this is a launch title when coupled with the token gaming it smells like an effort to sell back more of the content that used to be part of the game as DLC. The story with this series will really unfold over the next two years as we see if Turn 10 takes action to redeem themselves with Forza 6 but until then the jury is out and the present offering is a disappointment.

I've owned every game since the first, including having bought every limited edition and DLC/expansion available since even bought tokens in 4 and Horizon. I can even stomach day-one on-disc DLC. I held my faith despite my doubts and kept my Forza 5 order. After having played for the last few hours I sincerely regret that decision.

Let me start by saying there are a handful of things I do like about Forza 5. Finally the ability to paint stock rims, and to paint wheels white great. Engine swaps are now more varied and not limited to being within the same manufacturer, also great. The changes to make gold medals for 1st-3rd and silver 4th-6th and so on is excellent, no longer do I need to fall asleep while playing at a difficulty that ensure I am always in first place. Physics simulation seems improved as lower power cars now drift much more easily/realistically. The game is very pretty and I am sure those people who were fans of completing all the career races in past games will find equal enjoyment in Forza 5. Sadly I was never one of those types of players.

On to the bad.

I didn't mind tokens in Forza 4 when I could spend $10 and get a handful of the most expensive cars in the game to tinker with. Now the converted token-to-dollar cost of the Lotus E21 or Ferrari GTO is a staggering $63. Suppose I won't ever be playing with those, because career mode cannot hold my interest long enough to earn $6,000,000 and I will be damned if I am going to drop another cent on this franchise in its current state.

I was really looking forward to the feedback triggers, however as someone whose playstyle gravitates towards drifting, I can't stand it. The strength of the trigger vibration when sliding the car is obnoxious at best. Part of the blame lies in the controller itself since the noise it emits when at that threshold resembles what I can only describe as a honeybee trapped inside an empty aluminum can. The feel and sound while drifting or driving at the threshold is nothing short of unpleasant.

Another bizarre and unwelcome change is to the menu design & the removal of the ability to browse by manufacturers for cars and wheels, making the browsing process cumbersome. Who decided that was a good idea? I assume it was the same person who decided that all of the voiceover prompts should be unskippable to endlessly annoy anyone who is either familiar with what is being explained from past games, or simply has an IQ above 70 and doesn't need to be told that they can paint their car after they select the paint shop. I appreciate T10 is making continued efforts to reach out to casual gamers and auto enthusiasts who otherwise aren't gamers, but there is no need to make the rest of us suffer your attempts to hold their hands through everything.

Don't think I would mention the wheels without pointing out that we have had the exact same rim selection since Forza 3 and even that had a reduced selection from Forza 2. With a fraction of the car count, none of the money saved on licensing vehicles could go towards rims? How about with all the money you will apparently be making with tokens? Toss us a bone here.

Perhaps a bone is too much to ask for since we cannot even get the fantasy tracks which have been pillars of the franchise. These are tracks which countless others and I have used as tuning and performance benchmarks for our vehicles for nearly a decade. If you are going to use inaccuracy as an excuse to cut the track list of real life circuits, what is the justification for the removal of the fantasy tracks? The only foreseeable reason is so that they can be re-released as paid DLC/expansions.

Truthfully my biggest issue with the game is how I feel marginalized as a fan of variety and customization. The only reason Forza 4 and Horizon held my interest for such an extended period was my ability to buy and customize hundreds of different cars to mess around with in multiplayer with friends. The cars I loved to drive were never the first cars I liked based on look/name/brand etc.; they were the ones I picked up just to toy with and discovered how great they are. The primary '2 or 3 cars' that Turn 10 claims people use I only ever came across because of my ability to experiment and compare with everything available. Now I cannot even sell cars or parts to try something else if I decide I do not like a vehicle because that functionality has been removed entirely. To further compound the money grab, car clubs are gone so that my friends and I can no longer wisely pool our resources into different vehicles to share with one another.

The manufacturer affinities (or discount signs in Horizon) did wonders for allowing me to play the franchise in the way I enjoyed without needing to grind out the parts I disliked in order to do so. Now Turn 10 has apparently decided that I how I play is wrong and that all I should be doing is racing a handful of cars in career mode or rivals, and if I don't like it then I can pay them more money or go to hell. Every screen has a prompt for me to buy or spend tokens.

The removal of the storefront and auction house to combat money glitching without similar functionality for finding liveries, vinyl groups, tunes, etc. feels like more of a disservice than the money glitchers destroying the economy were. But Turn 10 couldn't possibly allow anything into the game that might hinder token sales.

In fact, every facet of the design of Forza 5 seems tailored to squeeze every last penny possible from the player. I don't know if blame lies with Turn 10 or Microsoft or both. I can only assume that the majority of the developers must not be happy with the published product considering past entries in the franchise were everything Forza 5 is not. As a (former) devoted fan of the franchise I find the monetization of the game, and the means by which it is shoved down my throat, simply insulting and equally disappointing. I can see why the game has received great reviews from those ignorant to what the franchise used to be. I wanted so badly to like 5, and I tried despite everything I was told, but I simply can't. Not like this.

Best Deals for Forza Motorsport 5 Day One Edition

Let me start this review with stating what a huge Forza fan I was. Forza 4 was my favorite game on the Xbox 360. With the introduction of Microtransactions into the game, it has totally ruined the whole gameplay.

The game also has few tracks, though I fully expect them to add additional tracks for DLC at a later date. This either means you have to grind racing around the few tracks that they do offer to purchase the extremely expensive cars in the game, or you can just pay for them with real cash... Even though you just dropped $70 to purchase the game..?

That is why vehicles are harder to get in this Forza, because they are trying to influence you to spend money in the game.

I will boycott any game that tries to gouge me with Microtransactions. You have deluded your franchise with this trash.

I will never play this trash again, and strongly advise that you do the same before Xbox games turn into the garage filled mobile platform where they charge you out the ass for everything you do to progress in the game.

Thanks.

Honest reviews on Forza Motorsport 5 Day One Edition

The driving, and graphics are as great as always, but buyer beware! This game is what happens when free to play games aren't free. Read here: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-11-23-whens-a-free-to-play-game-not-free-to-play .

"Unlike in older Forza games, cars aren't offered as rewards for success: instead, the only option is to buy them in a grind that can be augmented by pumping in real-world money.

It's a problem exacerbated by Forza Motorsport 5's drip-feed of cars as part of a $50 season pass, a number of which are being reintroduced from earlier games. And even when you've bought them as DLC, in order to own them fully in the game they have to be purchased using in-game currency or, of course, by pumping in a little extra money of your own."

I wont go into detail about the micro transactions as other reviewers have covered it well. I will say that I am disappointed at the extent of them in this game as it really feels like a lot of the game is missing unless you fork over a ton of extra money.

Pros:

The graphics are amazing. Near photo realistic on some tracks

The game runs at a perfect 60 fps

Sense of speed is outstanding

Orchestrated music fits racing well

Cons:

Tons of micro transactions

Not many tracks

While all of the tracks are insanely detailed some just don't have much to them and look a bit boring

Overall a solid entry in the series and good launch title. Would like to see a free track pack in the near future or at the very least an affordable track pack. I still recommend this game and if you are a fan of the series it is of course a must buy.

First of all they flat out lied. 12 hours of intense gameplay my but! I beat it in two and a half. A whole arsenal of intense spells. How about 7 or 8 spells. The story made little sense. and the battle was weird. The first of three bosses you fight is harder than the last. and a enemy who you caN't hurt fears him? Don't buy this game. Pitty those at 3DO who spent good time making it

not bad game for the time it came out, i'm a big fan of the might&magic games, i think they should make more games like that

I bought this thinking it would be like Crusaders, it was similar but warped. You couldn't chose your runes on your weapons for example and the spells were weaker. The enemies were ok, i guess. The worst part is I paid [money] for 2.5 hours of pointless, storyless, crap. Don't waste your money, wait for Crusaders 2 to come out.

Honest reviews on Warriors of Might and Magic PS1 DISC ONLY

This game was good but to short, and even though you did not really need all that much skill to play it, it did offer some interesting challenges. I wouldn't really call it a RPG, it was more like an action game. Other Might and Magic games are more thought out and more complicated, ie.. "Warriors of Might and Magic" does NOT have a map or a FLYING spell to get around with. Unlike other M&M PC games that do. Warriors does have some really cool movies that further the plot and are, combined with the game, worth the 20.00. but if you can get it cheaper it would be better.

People will disagree with me, but I actually like the new interpretation of Dante. They look the IDEA of Dante and made it applicable to contemporary society. I could see if they tried to throw together random elements to create something they thought was "edgy" or "cool", and it didn't come across as realistic. You would see through that quickly. But this version of Dante (in an alternate dimension) does make sense in the context of the world he lives in. They actually thought about his character and crafted his design accordingly. As a result the new Dante is recognizably human and realistic.

But maaaaan, his dialogue is terrible!

If they do a sequel (which I hope they do), they seriously need to write him better one liners. It's frustrating b/c sometimes he will spout out witty or insightful lines with convincing voice acting and delivery; but later he gives us these "gems": "You're dumped.", "It's your turn, Barbie!", "You won't get away!".

Some of this fits the new persona. Dante is less intelligent, and driven by adolescent hormones and emotions; he's impudent as ever. If this were high school Dante would be the bully or the kid who cuts class to smoke pot behind the bleachers. Dialogue is hit or miss.

The story, while straightforward, is compelling and entertaining. There are a couple of intense storytelling moments that put previous entries to shame. The ending is predictable, but it leaves things open for interesting sequels.

People complained the game is too easy, compared to DMC3 and 4. Normal mode is too easy, yes. But if you do Son of Sparda or higher, it is EXTREMELY difficult to get through a level without dying once. There's a boss fight were I died 6 times before I could kill it on Son of Sparda mode, and I'm a DMC vet.

Combat has been simplified. Dante doesn't have nearly as many moves now. It's also WAY too easy to get an S style rank. I will say though.....combat is more fun and entertaining than in the previous games. If you do all those flashy combos and get an SSS out of it, it is weirdly satisfying, even if you didn't work that hard to get it. I missed not having tons of moves and guns to choose from, but it is easy to switch between weapons this time. Sadly, the Kablooey weapon is completely useless.

Combat is fluid and responsive. Jump canceling remains, and requires strict timing (except for the Orbis.) DmC is fun, even addictive; even if combat isn't that deep! Pac Man wasn't that deep either, but still fun.

In terms of graphics, level design, and art direction, this is the best DMC game. Ever. Overall I would rank this the 3rd best game of the series, above DMC4 and DMC2. In terms of how fun and addictive it is to play, I rank it 2nd, behind Devil May Cry 3.

Just a note about my bias, I was inspired to write this review to counteract the undeservedly negative reviews this game is getting, but the review reflects my honest opinion.

Just a note, this is not a one star game. It's well put together, it looks great, the controls are responsive, etc...

My pedigree: I imagine that many people reading these reviews are people who have been fans of Devil May Cry in the past and want to know what other people with that background think about the new game. Obviously there's a contingent of those fans who are extremely unhappy (some who have actually played the game, some who apparently have not).

I bought the original Devil May Cry when it came out for the PS2, I loved it, and eventually beat it on Dante Must Die. I skipped DMC2 (based on deservedly mediocre reviews) until much later. I bought Devil May Cry 3 when it came out as well, and eventually beat it on Dante Must Die. DMC 3 is probably one of my favorite games of all time (liked it enough to buy it two times, original and later the Special Edition). I bought 4 and enjoyed it well, though not as much as 3.

In summary, I've played every DMC for a significant amount of time, multiple times through.

For me the draw of Devil May Cry has always been equal parts story and gameplay.

DMC: Devil May Cry

Like most, I was initially unhappy with the character redesign and the fact that it was a reboot, mostly because I wanted more payoff on Nero's story from DMC4. I actually remained pretty ambivalent about the game through most of its development. However, as the last few trailers were released and I played the demo I figured I'd buy the game if it got good reviews (I probably would've bought it anyway). It actually got better reviews than I expected, so I bought it and I'm really glad I did. So far, I've played through the game on the medium difficulty (Nephilim) and beaten most of the secret missions, probably for a total of 15 hours so far.

Gameplay: It's a lot of fun. It's true, from what I've played, the game is a little easier, but I didn't mind that so much. The combat is smooth, it seems easier to actually make Dante do what you want him to do, which I don't think is a bad thing. The enemies are diverse, and some of them are suitably a pain to deal with (in a good way), and require different strategies. I also really liked the levels, they aren't too long and are paced better than probably any game in the series (based on my recollection). This game is also probably more platforming heavy than any past Devil May Cry and I liked it.

Story: Story-wise, this game is probably only second to DMC 3. I actually like the new Dante, he's really not that different from the old Dante, a little arrogant and full of one-liners. Sure, some of the lines are cringe-worthy, but that's a tradition that goes back to the original Devil May Cry ("I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with light!"). The plot is interesting and the roles are well acted. Honestly, having played this game, I'm more interested in continuing the story with these characters than Nero.

In conclusion: If you're a fan of the Devil May Cry series, you should play this game and make up your own mind. It, in my mind, really captures all the essential qualities of what makes the Devil May Cry series enjoyable and is just plain fun to play.

Best Deals for DMC: Devil May Cry

DmC. Probably the most hated reboot in history, and one that was unjustly flamed before its release. Now it is here, and the Devil May Cry fanbase is aflame with haters and crusaders, flaming and defending the game respectively. What is DmC, you ask?

Well, if you live under a rock, I'll tell you. DmC is the latest iteration of the very successful 'Devil May Cry' series, handled by veteran Japanese developer Hideki Kamiya. The game is known for its hard difficulty, stylish combat, zany enemies and situations. Dante inhabits a world that seems very aware of Demons in the original, and what begins as a simple quest turns into a massive showdown by the end of the series. Now, onto DmC . . .

I was never a fan of the character change appearance wise, I personally saw no reason for it. Yes, it's a reboot, but would you change Sonic's appearance? What about Halo 4, which was 'essentially' a reboot? Why do you think they stayed true to Master Chief's appearance? Because it is expected, and fans always need something to tie them to the previous arcs. Halo 4 designed chief to be similar yet different, and while he has a slightly different appearance, you knew it was Master Chief. DmC's dante has none of that familiarity. I was okay with that, however, despite the fact it seemed that NT purposely attempted to change Dante's appearance. They changed him into being an emo character, and again, his appearance was okay. It was his new personality that pissed me off.

He wasn't funny. He wasn't likable. He was the typical angsty teen character with an over-sexualized persona. Again, I believe that NT TOTALLY missed the mark of his character. Just because its a reboot, it doesn't mean you change a character's personality, especially one so dank. Think of amazing spider-manThe reboot got spider-man RIGHT. He didn't have sex, he was awkward, didn't even swear, and was funny. He was a good spider-man cause he stayed in character. This Dante is nothing like the old one. The game actually begins with a very cheap sex scene, and along the way he swears like a bandit and the game itself is filled with cheap sexual references. It's not like i'm some prude, but I really hate when there's sexual situations with no correlation to the story. I think NT wanted an "edgy" game, so they uselessly added sex and swearing for no reason. 78% of the swearing/sexual situations are completely unneeded.

Characters lame-ness doesn't end at Dante. The new girl, Kate, is very pathetic as a character, not only unlikable but just totally vapid. It's sad because she is actually developed, but her script and lines and actions just make her a bad character. She is interesting at face-value, but once you actually experience her, you'll begin to hate her. Some people like her, so i feel like it kinda depends on your personality. The stars of this game are sadly Vergil and Mundus. Vergil is portrayed perfectly in terms of intellect mixed with insanity. The game ends with him taking the cliche now-i'm-a-bad-guy-superhuman routine, but other than that he was interesting. Mundus was very well written, and he was threatening as a character. Again, NF tried to do the "I'm a villain but look at my sad story" thing, but I felt that it came across as forced in one of the biggest blunders in gaming, destroying Vergil's character in one blow. (Don't see why they were in such a rush to make him evil . . . )

Now, onto gameplay. Don't listen to the haters. The combat isn't simplified in a bad sense. I played the originals, and while the combat there was fun, somewhat bad controls and camera ruined the experience. Here, things are different. Each attack looks like it was crafted with care and grace, and watching Dante hop from enemy to enemy, watching how is body moved and compensated for the weight of his weaponsreally showed how much care the animators took in his movements. Everything looked natural, which lead to very cinematic fight scenes. The game is by no means "easy" but it is not as difficult as the original games. However, the cinematic aspect of it is very well done, and the only thing that trumps the original in this game.

Music. The music fits the MOOD PERFECTLY. Again, very creative people made this game. The music is amazing. Every set-change, every boss battle, and every attack have their own motifs, and the music combined with excellent sound design (Each strike has its own sound, a very satisfying meaty sound) leads to everything in the game carrying its own weight.

The gameplay and music elements are fine, and the person to blame for this game's failings are (1. The head writer, script-writer) (2 character designer)

The story isn't good. There, I said it. It is coherent, but by no means is it good. It is VERY cliche, starting with the young man with great power who is disillusioned with the world, and hates everything. Suddenly a very barren girl character comes along, and he all of the sudden loves her, because she's a girl and main hero characters always love the girl. In the end, the edgy brother turns on you, in a very lame speech that comes from every super-human medium in existence. "WE'RE MORE POWERFUL WE SHOULD RULE LALALALALALA WE DO THIS TO PROTECT HUMANS LALALALALLA".

I think the writer wanted to make a serious devil may cry, instead of the light-hearted tone of the originals, which were funny but had serious moments. This fails, however, because the writer was not talented at all. The story was bland and generic, characters were bland, over-sexualized, too much vulgarity . . . it goes on and on. When Devil may cry did it, it was usually a well-planned joke, and it was fun in a campy way. Here, it is done in a disgusting way, and I have no respect for the writer, who single-handedly destroyed what could have been a great game. It pisses me off when so much work and effort has been put towards the fighting, music, and set design, and one (or a few) morons ruin it all with lines pertaining to the f-bomb and jokes about squirrel semen. (No, I am not kidding.)

In the end, the game IS fun. But sadly, it is only fun for the gameplay. When there is no cutscenes, no diolouge, the game shines, and in glimmering moments the beauty of the original is perfectly interpreted in this reboot. But sadly, character design, script, and overall chacterization of Dante and others in this game make it VERY unlikable. They did not create an edgy teen people could relate to, rather they made a monster which is a combination of everything wrong with modern youth. At no point does Dante become an enjoyable hero, and every time he was talking I hated him.

Combat 8/10 Very fun, very fast, very well done.

Story 3/10Terrible plot, very predictable.

Setting 10/10 Limbo city is perfectly realized

Enemies 8/10 Enemies are well designed, keeping the ridiculousness of the former enemies in tow from the originals

name 1/10 Lol seriously? DmC: Devil may cry? SO Devil may Cry= Devil May Cry? So dumb

Characters 4/10 Save for a few shining stars, (Mundus, Vergil.) Characters fall flat in this game.

Overral6.7/10. The combat, music, and setting saved this game from being a total flop. If you care about action more than story, and have very high lame character tolerance, get this game, you'll obviously have fun. If you cannot handle lame story and character, then I'd pass this game up. Or atleast wait till it is 30 dollars. Its a shame, everything EVERYTHING is perfect in this game aside from the characters. It's sad a game with perfect gameplay is RUINED by a moron who thought he was writing good characters and story. If they make a sequel, they NEED to fire whoever wrote that story. Don't listen to the game informers and other review sites. STORY is not this game's strong point.

Honest reviews on DMC: Devil May Cry

I have played all the Dmc games and I was absolutely devastated when they revealed this reboot. Anyhow here's my brief 2 cents on the game.

This is a great game on its own. Great story, great platforming, good (not great) combat, and AWESOME art style. The problem is, it has a little hint of the previous DMC games. The combat is fun but it is no where near as deep as DMC3 and 4's. There was only one puzzle in the game which was very easy. The art style is amazing but it is a big departure from DMC universe's art style. A lot of cursing in the game of which most of it feels unnecessary.

This game could have been called, for example, "Angles & Demons" with out having any traces of a DMC game and it would have been much more welcomed by the gamers. The reason why fans are upset about this game is that 1)DMC4 left off with an unfinished story so a reboot was unnecessary and 2) Westernizing a game that is popular for it's "Eastern" style would kill the core elements of the game that made it such a unique game.

Lastly, blame Capcom not Ninja Theory because Ninja Theory just did what Capcom wanted. Hopefully Capcom learned their lesson due to the low amount of sales (they also screwed up RE6), and hats off to Ninja Theory for making a great game.

I would like to keep this comment as honest as possible. I have been playing the Devil May Cry franchise since it's birth, and yes, along with all the other fans I was quite disappointed when the reboot was revealed. However, after checking some of these reviews I decided it was worth a try. The DMC franchise is a great action game series, and I would hate to turn my back on it now. However. What the reboot (this game) seems to do is take the bad guy (mundus) from the original DMC, and basically ALL the level design from DMC2 (which if you played or saw is an infested cityscape), and tried way too hard to incorporate the grappling mechanic from DMC4. Even the skills are a little awkward in this game. The melee weapons completely outclass the guns. Devil mode in this game is completely reworked so that upon trigger, everything you are fighting on screen gets launched into the air and lets you pick at it. There is also a very non-subtle theme of the game where words will pop up on the screen saying things like "DIE" or "GLUTTONY" or whatnot, which I am not sure if I missed something, but seems to be paying homage for some reason to They Live. Now, post Devil May Cry 4, I will admit, there was a parting of ways for how far they wanted to take the character, and the one thing that had always been weak in ANY DMC game was the story, but I would argue that you don't play DMC for the story. You play it for the action. The story that is revealed (through flashbacks and wormhole sequences) is... well, it is a story. I state that this game is definitely a tease for anyone who played through the other games in the series, simply because there are a lot of Cinematics for the ammount of game play. Most fights end with a close up on Dante's face.

So, in conclusion, I would definitely say to try this game out, but rent it on gamefly before purchasing, even if you are a dante must die hard fan. I would almost hope and like to see a reboot of this game in something similar to you playing Dante running a hero for hire business, similar to pick and choose missions, which all ends up at some sort of well polished character at the end that is either gun crazy, sword heavy, evasive/tricky, or well rounded (royal guard was kind of silly). I would hope that capcom would grow up a little and stop trying to pack this franchise full of foul language and innuendo, and focus on making something a little more like DMC3.

Xbox 360 HD DVD Player Review

Xbox 360 HD DVD Player

I've been using this Xbox HD-DVD player for almost a month now and so far it works just great. I actually had no plans to buy either Blu-Ray or HD-DVD until one of those losers became a dominate player. Unfortunately it doesn't look like that's going to happen any time soon. And for $200, I couldn't pass it up since I already had an Xbox. And I couldn't bring myself to keep buying low-def regular DVD's with these awesome HD DVD's out there. AND, the HD DVD combo discs still have regular DVD content for normal DVD players in other rooms in the house.

Out of the box, this drive is extremely easy to setup. Just pop in the setup CD, plug it in, and you're ready to go. There is a separate power cord as well. The included remote is nice, but I'll stick with my Harmony 880. It's able to control all the basic functions of the player. The player is also unable take advantage of the improved audio quality of HD-DVD, so you just get the normal "good" audio quality you had with previous DVD's. Which isn't bad, but still somewhat disappointing. Otherwise, all the menu's work nicely, the player starts up fairly quick, and the picture quality is awesome for component video at least.

Component is probably the biggest negative I can think of and that's really due to the Xbox 360's fault, not the player itself. If you think HD DVD looks good on your xbox component connection in 1080i, just wait until you see it via your HDMI port in 1080i or even 1080p (if your TV accept 1080p and is big enough to take advantage of such a high res). Unfortunately, there is no word of HDMI for the xbox. So you only get 1080i via the Component connection. To get 1080p, you need the VGA cable, which has a somewhat better picture.

So I bought the VGA cable. The picture does look a little better on my 61' Samsung HL-S6187W since it's also at 1080p, but there is a 1-3" border around the screen, and the image is tilted. Samsung had no idea how to fix it. But I suspected that might happen since a TV with a VGA port is still a TV, not a PC Monitor. Your results will of course vary depending on your model TV.

The VGA port limitations aren't that big of a deal. If you REALLY want 1080p, you just need HDMI period. I'll live with 1080i via Component for now until the 1080p players come down in price. In the meantime, at least I've got some awesome looking HD movies to watch on my new TV!

Pros:

* Cheapest HD-DVD solution if you have an XBox 360

* Easy to setup

* Accepts IR from your universal remote via the Xbox

* Great picture quality

* Includes Microsoft Remote and free King-Kong HD-DVD

* UPDATE: HDMI Output (with Xbox 360 Elite Only)

Cons:

* Only outputs 1080i via Component (VGA required for 1080p)

* VGA output has limitations, both due to Xbox and/or your TV

* Can't take advantage of HD-DVD improved audio quality formats

Bottom line, if you have an Xbox 360, and have a HD TV, you've gotta pick one of these up. You just can't go wrong for a $200 entry-level HD player!

*** ELITE/HDMI UPDATE ***

Just purchased the Xbox 360 Elite w/ HDMI. This HD DVD player is even more awesome than before. We just watched the entire Matrix Trilogy in HD DVD in 1080p on the 61" Samsung DLP and it looked awesome. When compared to component, the HDMI picture is much more crisp, detailed, and even better black levels. Definately recommended!

Microsoft has released the HD-DVD drive as an obvious counterstrike to the PS3's Blu-Ray capability, but the drive is much more than a bullet point in the console & format war.

PROS: The HD-DVD drive is quite simply the most efficient and cost-effective HD solution for those of us that already own XBOX 360s. However, even if you were to consider buying a 360 with the HD-DVD drive solely for movie watching, it is still very competetively priced compared to the stand-alone models. Adding to its value, the package includes Microsoft's Universal Remote, and a copy of King Kong on HD DVD. The picture and sound quality is superb, as advertised, almost identical to the quality produced from Toshiba's newer HD DVD model. Add all this to the fact that installation and operation is quick and seamless, with load times for discs quicker than that of the Toshiba. Finally, for those of you with super-nice TVs, at the time of release the XBox 360 HD DVD drive is the only HD source (apart from Blu-Ray) that is capable of outputting in 1080p (full HD), if you have a TV that will accept a native 1080p signal.

CONS: There is only one real 'con' that I can think of the drive's lack of HDMI connectivity. Although you can view the stunning 1080i picture over the XBox's HD component cables, for (I believe) copyright protection reasons you can't output HD DVD picture over component, despite the cable's capability. Therefore, if you want to take full advantage of the drive's picture capabilities, you'll have to utilize the seperately-sold VGA HD cable ($39.99), and this will only work if you have an 1080p HD monitor with PC/VGA input. Even with this, on my TV (Samsung 1080p DLP), a little black box is drawn around the picture frame, which slightly reduces the picture size, despite the increadible quality. Also worth mentioning is that while the drive has the same upconversion cababilities as the other HD DVD & Blu-Ray models for standard DVDs, this too is only obtainable through use of the VGA cable. Finally, without HDMI, the drive can't make full use of the newest HD Dolby Digital & DTS surround audio tracks, instead downconverting to the standard DD & DTS tracks you're used to on standard DVDs (still good quality, though).

In conclusion, the drive is fantastic, a tremendous value. Although the capability range of the drive is limited through the lack of HDMI connectivity, for most people this isn't going to be an important factor. Most people, even those with nice HDTVs, don't have 1080p TVs or 7.1 channel audio receivers with HD decoding capabilities. Hopefully, though, Microsoft will eventually produce an HDMI port for the XBox, which will unleash the drive's potential. In the meantime, this wonderful, small HD DVD player will be more than sufficient for most everyone looking to step in to the world of True HD (even those of us that can currently get around the 1080p issue with an extra cable).

If you have an XBOX 360 and and HDTV, this HD-DVD drive add-on is a no brainer. Microsoft utilized the 360's three processor cores and implemented a software based solution for decoding HD video. The results are pretty amazing. The picture generated over a component cable connection is crystal clear and beautiful. Colors are strong and vibrant, and the picture quality is light years beyond DVD. I've found the alternative format (Blu-Ray) to be washed out and not nearly as clean and crisp as the HD-DVD format on my Samsung DLP (1080i). I was thoroughly impressed, and extremely happy that I made this purchase.

For a limited time, the package also includes a 360 media remote and a King Kong HD-DVD. Can't beat it. Worth every penny.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 HD DVD Player

This is a great product if you already own the XBOX 360. As everyone has already mentioned, it's no-brainer for $200.

Pros:

· Incredible 1080i picture that blows away any HD transmission from your cable/satellite provider even at 1080i at least on my HDTV.

· Runs much quieter than the noisy regular DVD drive of the XBOX 360

· Up-scales regular DVDs. I did a real-time comparison with a regular DVD movie and quickly switched it from the XBOX 360 regular DVD tray and then into the HD-DVD player. I witnessed an incredible upscale in visual quality to the point that it was almost as good as an actual HD-DVD movie. The other amazing thing about my little experiment was that since both drives are "powered" through the same XBOX 360 processor/"brain", upon switching from one drive to the next, the XBOX was "smart" enough to pick up right where I stopped to the exact second in the scene from the regular DVD player. I was pretty impressed by that. Not sure how I would apply that again in the future, but it was cool nonetheless.

Cons And it's a major one if you own any of the Sony SXRD line of HD TVs:

· No HDMI output = No 1080p picture if you own a Sony SXRD line of HDTVs like me. I have the amazing Sony SXRD 50" rear projection LCD TV which defies logic at how sharp the picture is and how vivid the colors are in HD. With that said, I have yet to enjoy a 1080p picture on it because: 1) My cable provider transmits only a 720p/1080i picture (which I believe every satellite/cable provider is currently limited to in the US), and 2) XBOX 360 can only "transmit" a 1080p picture through a VGA cable. Though my TV does have a VGA input, a 1080p picture can only be possible utilizing the HDMI inputs.

· Conflicting XBOX Helpdesk supportWhen talking to XBOX support, their helpdesks gave me conflicting advise about whether or not my TV would project a 1080p picture through my VGA input. However, when I touched base with Sony, they were quite clear that the VGA connection for my TV would only go up to 1080i. The HDMI cable was necessary for 1080p.

You might say, "So freakin' what?" However, when you've paid a considerable amount of money for a TV that has 1080p capability over a substantially less expensive TV that can only go up to 720p/1080i you get the drift.

Hopefully, Microsoft can come up with a HDMI solution for current XBOX 360 owners (not just the rumored XBOX 360 version 2) and this problem will be solved. All in all, despite all of this 1080p nonsense, the HD player is a solid little add-on and I still highly recommend it.

I've been watching HDTV programming for quite a while now, so I was expecting only a minor improvement going to HD-DVD/Blu-ray. Boy was I wrong! The picture quality on the included King Kong disc is absolutely stunning! The difference isn't the resolution, but rather the lack of compression artifacts, and the great care taken in the making of this HD transfer. I hadn't realized how much I had gotten accustomed to the compression artifacts in HDTV broadcasts. The stunning clarity of a well-mastered HD source really caught me by surprise. If you've already got an Xbox 360 and an HDTV, this HD-DVD drive is well worth the purchase.

Setup is extremely easy. Plug it into the wall, but don't plug it into the Xbox just yet. Power up the Xbox and plop the update CD into the internal drive. It will install an update to your system and then prompt you connect the external drive via the included USB cable. That's it! Put in a movie and enjoy!

Navigation with a remote works well, just like a normal DVD player. I actually used my univeral remote, so I can't comment specifically on the bundled Microsoft remote, but it looks pretty typical.

As a bonus, this drive is recognized by Windows XP when plugged into a USB2 port. At the moment, there's no way to watch the movie itself, but you can see all the files on the disc, and it brings hope that with the next releases of PowerDVD/WinDVD, we might be able to watch HD-DVD movies on a PC using this drive.

Was Wipeout 1 a good game?? Personally, when I read a review that someones kid liked the game or they got a good deal, that doesn't qualify as to me as a legitimate review. YOU have to play the game to review it effectively. I've played mostly every Kinect title and reviewed most. Wipeout 1 suffered from a serious motion control issue. The controls were horrible, and if you have played the game and didn't have an issue with getting past the big balls, you have achieved more than 5 of my friends and myself have.

Fast forward to Wipeout 3. Motion controls fixed. FINALLY! PLUS, a big PLUS, you don't have to run. You can just use your arms as you would as if you were running. To jump, you lift your hands up in the air. You can tilt your body backwards or forwards to adjust or when you're in the air to go further or shorter.

It's the same Wipeout, that had the horrible controls with FIXED controls. In the original Wipeout, if you couldn't get past an obstacle, you'd use an arm motion, and you'd be docked a certain amount of penalty time. With the current Wipeout, you have 3 attempts to master that obstacle. At that point, if you failed the game would advance you past that obstacle.

I'd like to thank the developers for ignoring the glowing reviews from a broken game, and get down to work to fix the issues that they knew existed. Great job! Third times a charm!

Honest reviews on Wipeout 3 - Xbox 360

I bought this game for myself hoping to get some sort of workout. Most of the moves can be made by simply raising your arms to jump or moving your hands to run. Can be hard to manipulate the characters for me, but my 9yo enjoys this game, so it was not a loss.

I don't know maybe it's how we have ours set up, but this game doesn't seem to respond very well. It doesn't recognize us all the time; or it'll switch who is who. I told my boyfriend I think it's 'cause we have it set up so close to us but our daughters Disney game works just fine, but that game doesn't require near as much movement as this game so who knows. It works pretty well with one player but we got this game as a family game and if we can only play one person at a time it defeats that purpose.

I'm a collector of all of the Sim expansion packs, but some are always better than others. This one was decent. I was disappointed that I only got a few extra items for $10 more and there's really not much to do with Katy Perry in the game at all, except for giant fruit stage decorations.

I'm relatively satisfied with the gameplay, but I am still disappointed that there wasn't more to show for the extra money I spent on this game.

This expansion is the latest in the Sims 3 franchise. Its major contribution to the Sims 3 world is the addition of three new careers: Singer, Acrobat, and Magician, along with venues for these performers (and Sim guests) to visit and perform in, along with objects, clothes, lifetime wishes, and rewards related to performing.

This seems like the best-realized of the Sims expansions. The objects are very well-made, with plenty of special objects like mechanical bulls, jukeboxes, karaoke machines, pool tables, and more. The careers are interesting if repetitive, and the new wishes and rewards are really cute. The EP also introduces the concept of Simport, which allows Simmers to send their performers into other Simmers' gameworlds to perform and to receive other Simmers' performers into their own.

The hometown that comes with this world looks very thematic, complete with a "Hollywood"-style giant wooden sign in Simlish at its edge. There's plenty to explore, especially with the new venues. The families in the town are all right; they're nowhere near as purely fun as those in Lunar Lakes or Hidden Springs, but they're extremely thematic for the performer-dominated town here. The houses range from modernistic to Mediterranean styled; I found them difficult to live in and decorate, but they are very nicely made. It's not too hard to customize the world with your own lots and with Late Night and World Adventure venues. I should also mention that there doesn't seem like there's a lot of child-related things in this EP, which is fine for someone like me who rarely plays families but which might cause a Simmer who prefers families to feel like their Sim-children have been neglected.

The Katy Perry special edition included a few special costumes that are terribly cute, along with some stage props I particularly like and a custom-made venue. The venue is really nice, with an LA vibe. I use one of the costumes frequently and the stage props are fun for the type of Sims I usually play--fun-loving Sims who play around a lot. If you see something in the bonus content you really like, then get it with the assurance that it's well-made stuff. If you don't see something you like in the bonus content's collection, then the special edition EP won't be worth it to you.

Simport gets old extremely quickly. It's a bit like Facebook and AIM right in your game; you can see and make status updates and share memories with the friends you've selected from the website. After experimenting with it a while, I got tired of it and turned it off. It's incredibly buggy and cranky to use and crashes the game on my Mac after it's been running a short while. But it's a neat idea, and if you liked the Sims but wished it was more cooperative or social, then you might really love Simport. I don't really care for social/cooperative play so I don't like it enough to fight with it.

Performing is very fun--people who've tried Sims Medieval might recognize the general mechanics from the blacksmith occupation from TSM; you set up the general "perform" command, then issue sub-commands within that general one to do special things like blow kisses to the crowd or do Michael Jackson-style dance moves. It gets repetitive very quickly; there aren't nearly enough different songs or tricks, for example, though the ones that are there are pretty cool to watch. But I enjoy it as a change of pace. Sims can rise through the ranks very quickly and get very wealthy as top-level performers, which didn't seem too unreasonable to me. Two types of performance that don't get a lot of attention but which I think are very neat are the ability to DJ (with your own portable DJ station) and sing karaoke. I just wish EA would release more songs and tricks for Sims to perform!

The hairs, clothes, and objects are all 5/5. Some are misses, mostly men's hairs, which are, as usual, rather weird-looking to me. The hairs especially are getting more and more creative and imaginative. The clothes are getting more complex and detailed, which is always a plus. The new stage prop type objects are also useable as room decoration or seating, which opens up all sorts of new possibilities; one of the prop themes is "steampunk"--which means that now it's possible to make a 3rd-party-content-free steampunk house. The prop objects also work really well with the Store's magic sets.

You don't need anything but the base game to run this expansion pack. I got mine on DVD and it runs just fine on both my Mac and PC computers. I'm not sure I'd recommend it as the very first EP someone should buy after getting the base game unless the idea of making a performer makes that person just ecstatic, but I think that most Simmers, especially ones who prefer playing adult Sims, would enjoy the new things this EP brings.

I received this item a few days ago and found that the Katy Perry items had expired. I am not a fan of hers, but thought the extra items (hair, clothing, decor, etc.) were worth the extra couple dollars I paid. What a big disappointment to find that the items had expired! I had even read the box it came in, before opening it, but a sticker covered the section that told when these items would expire. EA shouldn't let these limited item games be sold after they have expired (which they have proved they don't care much about customer's problems) and the same to the stores that allow, and sell, them.

Honest reviews on The Sims 3: Showtime - Katy Perry Collector's Edition - PC

I really loved this expansion! While pets has been my favorite Sims 3 expac so far, this one is up there as well. One of my favorite parts about it is the ability to send your Sim to your friends towns to perform though the system seemed buggy and I did not get many successful tours to my friend's towns. I also really enjoyed being able to customize my stage with all sorts of cool props and stuff, though I wish there was a much bigger variety of in the themes of the props for the stage. There were only about 3-4 different stage themes. The items included in this pack are also really fun, including DJ booth, karaoke machines, etc. I don't think the Katy Perry version adds much for the cost and it's probably better to just go with the regular version.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for The Sims 3: Showtime - Katy Perry Collector's Edition - PC

Like many Sims players, I really loved playing the game. The first Sims didn't overdo it with expansion packs but lacked graphics even though it was the most flexible. Then Sims 2 came out with better graphics but got carried away with expansions and once you invested in those the Sims 3 gets released with honestly not much better graphics. But Sims 3 can't seem to stop adding Stuff, Worlds and Expansions, not to mention that hardly anything is free at The Sims Store. But besides spending more on Sims than real people and pets, even some game consoles, it's riddled with glitches and rarely anyone can play the game without endless problems, losing hours of work and things getting slow, which is why it's got more patches than a pair of old jeans. Then custom content is risky as a result can mess things up big time, from freakish people to crashes. It's just become too big and nothing that's ever released is as fun or lives up to expectation EA promises. The idea was lost and hardcore fans (this one included) are tired of buying disappointments. Then, before you know it Sims 4 could come out and it's back to to square one and the previous Sims we spent so much on sells for dirt cheap that we'd never use again anyway. Maybe it's time a copycat game like Cities, that turned out better than Simcity makes their version of The Sims, that works.

I will start with the obvious, the game looks beautiful. The graphical

quality does not change between cutscenes and gameplay. Kojima and his team pulled out all the stops on the beauty of this game, as they have always striven to do.

SPOILER ALERT

Then there is the story. A lot of people harp on the Metal Gear Series because the story is full of twists. One person even said that the plot was twists and only twists. That person missed the point completely. Especially by the end of this game, it becomes apparent what Kojima had been pushing for. The message about humanity is clear... the MGS series has always been anti-war, anti-genetic determinism, anti-environmental determinism, every mistake that humanity has ever made with regards to war and control of the populous has been addressed in some way. Consider the history through which Kojima derives his inspiration. His home country of Japan experienced an apocalypse during WWII while causing an apocalypse in mainland Asia at the same time.

In all situations of war no matter who begins the fight or where it starts or ends, the young will repeat the mistakes of the old, and the old will let the knowledge gained from their mistakes slip away with death. Even the most heinous actions, deception, murder, are a means to an end, and the end is all that really matters.

SPOILERS OVER

Gameplay was spectacular. The MGS franchise is one of very few that has made significant gameplay improvements with every subsequent release. Control of Snake feels much more fluid, yet at the same time you can feel his age in the way he performs. Though he is more agile and powerful than the average human could ever be, he isn't quite the same old Snake. He is THE Old Snake.

Old Snake gets a lot of neat toys in this game, too. Most notably is his chameleon suit. If he lays flat, his suit will automatically adopt the pattern of the materials that are on the floor. By pressing the "triangle" button while up against a wall, he will adopt those coverings as well.

The second great toy is Drebin's shop. Drebin is a weapons launderer who gives Old Snake full access to replacement ammo and other supplies. ID Locked weapons can be converted to old-world weapons that do not require nanomachine permissions. There are A LOT of weapons in this game. First time through you probably won't get to experience all of them, and that is okay. Just check them out on your next run. The game is only about 10-15 hours long depending on how you choose to play. Also, through Drebin's shop Old Snake can modify his weapon. The first weapon, the M4 Custom is a good all-purpose weapon. It packs a decent punch and holds 30 rounds. It can be modded with a shotgun attachment, grenade launcher, or foregrip for stability. Laser sights and scopes can also be added to the M4 and other select weapons. So play around and have fun.

Toy #3 is the Metal Gear Mark II, Hal's minature Metal Gear Rex that is mostly harmless...mostly. When you need a buddy to turn the corner and remain unseen for you, Mark II can cast an invisibility cloak and make sure the coast is clear. If things get sticky, it has a shock wire function to incapacitate unsuspecting foes. The same tool can be used to knock on surfaces to distract your enemies and guide them away from Old Snake's true position. It is a neat little gadget that you may or may not find to be useful.

Next up, the enemies. In this game, it is impossible to hate the enemies you fight (except for Vamp) because they are amazing, flat-out. Whether they are GECKOS (bipedal beast machines), FROGS (all-female supersoldiers), or Private Military Company militia-men (remnants of their humanity will keep you grounded), or the Beauty and the Beast Corps (best enemies in of all time in videogames?), enemies are not just targets. Kojima and his crew made the enemies in this game characters to be admired. They neither have names nor faces, but they will f*** your day up very quickly if you do not respect their power. From the top down, they are all capable killers.

The humanity of this game lies within Snake's allies. Meryl, Eva, Hal, the Colonel, Mae Ling, Raiden, Rosemary, Naomi, and especially Sunny represent the other side of life. Old Snake is a manufactured product of war, the only life he has ever known. No machine can imitate or destroy the compassion that these individuals shared. This is passion. I won't go on, can't explain much else without major spoilers.

Gameplay, people, visuals, this game is stunning. Metal Gear Sold 4 exemplifies why videogames deserve to be celebrated as art. It has the story worthy of novel publishing, breath-taking visuals, engrossing music, and an all-around realism that we celebrate in paintings such as the Mona Lisa. If only more videogame producers put this much time and effort into a game. Production for perfection... long hours, perspiration, and inspiration to produce the culmination of one's efforts... that is art... this is art.

If you are a casual gamer, this is not for you. If you have never played the other MGS games, this is probably not for you. Play through MGS1-3 in order to get the story and gameplay straight, and then play MGS4.

For everyone who has been trying to compare this game to COD and HALO...come on. MGS4 is not a pure shooter. They put it nice and bold on the cover, "Tactical Espionage Action". That means be sneaky and use force only as needed. Play a "shooter" and judge other shooters with it. MGS4 is NOT, I repeat, is NOT a shooter.

Could this go down as one of the best games of all time? Absolutely. Game of the Year? For sure. It is in a league of its own. Nothing else plays like it. Few other games are as engrossed in the mystique of political/sci-fi conspiracy. Too few have such dedicated stories. In most games, the producer's passion is not as apparent. MGS4 had a 105 degree fever with Kojima's ardor for gaming perfection. The game feels like he and his team cared.

Hideo Kojima has done it again. MGS4 is the most detailed, convincing, and well-researched game I have ever played. It offers a compelling and imaginative glimpse into the future of high-tech warfare, a nuanced, intelligent storyline, vastly improved gameplay, and incredible graphics.

The metal gear franchise has always pushed the boundaries of what a game could be, and challenged the preconceptions of the audience. MGS4 starts out with, of all things, a short live action film about marine fauna. The in-game store discounts weapons (in real time) on wednesdays and sundays. These are just a few examples, but there are many more. The story has both the philosophical and political musings as well as the bizarre humor and one of a kind characters that fans expect.

The gameplay is more open and the action is more intense than in prior games. The environments seem much bigger and are bustling with npcs engaged in building to building warfare. Snake can join either side in the conflict or ignore them and sneak by. He has a ton of new weapons and gadgets as well.

The graphics are among the most impressive I have seen in a game. The characters are solid physical presences with subtle, lifelike facial expressions. The mechs move with an animal grace and hunt with a keen intelligence that belies their artificial construction.

Overall, the game is an experience that should not be missed by anyone with a PS3. If you don't already own a PS3, this game alone would justify its purchase. It is by far the most creative, original, and technically polished game to appear on the system to date.

Before I start... I do my fair share of gaming, but I'am by no means a very obsessive gamer. So I never really knew about Metal Gear Solid until I bought this game. I'm a huge fan of first person shooter games like COD, Resistance, etc. So I saw the ads and thought it was another military type shooting game so I went out and spent the $59.99 and got the game. I put the game into the PS3 and after about an 8 minute wait (becasue the game is so amazing that it needs time to load some stuff on to the PS, but you still need the disk to play the game!) the game started and I was completely blown away. I have played some really good games in my time and on many systems, but this has, by far, been THE best game that I have palyed on ANY system before. The quick down low on this game... the graphics... I give a 10/10. The detailing of the all the characters, the details on the machinery and the surroundings, it was awesome. The thing that made is so spectacular was the fact that the developers did put so much attention to the details that they did a very good job of simulating real life as best as possible. Another big pet peeve of mine is the acting of the characters in the game. I feel like it plays a big part in the gaming experience and people don't give it much credit. So for the acting another 10/10: the character voices fit the characters, and the voice acting was done superbly. The animation was also done extremely well, my only fuss about the animation is that you can't really read how the character is feeling by looking at thier face: the pretty much always put on the same face... but no game has ever done that really well either so I looked over that fact. Finally for game play I give 9/10. I give it such a "low" rating because quite frankly this game is a bit tough to get accustomed to (all though once you do... you're pretty much ready to kick some MAJOR BUTT). I guess a more crazy gamer would have managed to get all the controls down quickly... but for me it took me a while to figure out how to use all the controls. At first the menu that shows all your items, weapons, and an array of other things was very difficult to figure out. Once you got past that you had to actaully figure out how to use the items, weapons, etc. It took me the longest time to figure out how to use Med-packs... but that could also be due to my inabilities :-p. So basically thats why the gameplay is 9/10... overall its just a confusing interface to get used to, but once you do it gets very fun. Also the interactions in the game is awesome. Like the bad guys can figure out when you are there just by bascially seeing you (obviously), hearing you (also obvious), and smelling you (Yea... thats a new one on me too). So its really fun trying to sneak around all the levels w/o getting spotted... but fear not my first person shooter fans... there are thrills here for you too... if the baddies spot you, you're gonna' be pulling out some very nifty guns to shoot them: my fav. is the p90. Just before I end here, if you don't know about the Metal Gear Series (like myself) you won't really know what's going on in the game. In that sense it really sucks because you're just shooting and sneaking around w/o really knowing what's happening. The developers just assumed that you played previous versions so they just build on the stories of the last one's so you miss out a lot of the stories and things like that. But, I went on Wiki and basically read the story like a book so I was all set! And lastly (I promise this time) the game does feel like its more of a movie with some player interaction becasue the cut scenes are ridiculously long... so if you are'nt a cut scene type of person... you might not like this game. As for me.... I loved it!!!So basically this game is wicked fun and if you haven't bought it yet... you HAVE TO!!!!!

Honest reviews on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

This is the first truly next-gen game to grace either console (PS3/360, the Wii is different). The sheer detail and feature sets are amazing. It's a singleplayer game with the benefit of multiplayer, unlike many games which are the reverse. This is crucial, as many modern games trend toward the opposite. The graphics are, to put it less than eloquently, "HAWT." Controls are fluid and very deep (the sheer volume of actions/interactions is staggering). This is a STORY-DRIVEN game, someting that this generation of games is often lacking imo. I haven't seen this much emphasis on this all-too crucial aspect since Lost Odyssey. The soundtrack is at times haunting and always appropriate, really accentuating the experience. The campaign is lengthy and rich. Warning, if you're not a fan of excessive cutscenes, you may be put off by MGS4 (although you CAN skip them). I for one love the game for this reason. There are so many little details that cater to the player's enjoyment, such as the ability to play music in-game on your virtual ipod, the songs and extras scattered here and there, and the inside humor. Even if you're unfamiliar with the series (I have experience only with the first Metal Gear Solid game) it's definitely worth a purchase. This is a system-seller plain and simple. Every gamer who calls themself as such should own it. The first truly next-gen does not disappoint. Snakes last dance must be experienced.

Pros:

+Very satisfying story

+Incredible voice work

+Incredible cinematics

+Eagle eye attention to detail

+A lot of gameplay elements

+Memorable Music Soundtrack

Cons:

-Long cutscenes. To the point where you feel more like you're watching than playing. This goes a long way as you'll play for five seconds to be treated to cutscenes several minutes long

-Some load times are really annoying

-The Camera can sometimes be a pain

After three and a half long years of waiting, Metal Gear Solid 4 finally drops down on the Playstation 3. With a lot of questions to answer and some mighty big shoes to fill, Metal Gear Solid 4 is easily one of the most anticipated video games ever made. For the Metal Gear fan, the game is absolutely fantastic. Continuing an already mesmerizing story, Metal Gear Solid 4 proves to be one of this generations greatest games.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the conclusion to Snake's story. The game is told through some gorgeous cutscenes. There's a lot of detail to the characters faces, their actions and it has some fantastic voice acting to boot. You'll want to grab some popcorn, though, because there are definitely a lot of cutscenes in Metal Gear Solid 4, and some of them are really long. This is easily the biggest problem with Metal Gear Solid 4 and it's one that has often plagued the series. While the cutscenes are very dramatic and well written, and while they even shed some humor, some of them are just too long, some of them seeming almost useless. If a cutscene is getting a little long, though, it would be a grave mistake to skip it as you might miss some important parts of the story. And if there's any Metal Gear Solid game one should be playing for its story, it's this one. The other big problem with the cutscenes is how they come at you, even early on. There are moments where you'll play for a matter of seconds only to be sit through a cutscene that's several minutes long. At the very least, you can pause the game during the cutscenes. However, it's hard to get over the fact that some of them really drag on. When you get to play the game, though, Metal Gear Solid 4 is amazing.

Metal Gear Solid has always been about stealth. The same is true of Guns of the Patriots. The difference being that you're also in the middle of a war and there are two sides fighting against one another, the PMCs and Militia. You're able to help the militia and doing so can have its rewards, such as characters being willing to give you items or being able to go through certain areas more easily. Although, you can also turn the Militia against you.

There have been some improvements to sneaking around, though. The camouflage system has returned but it's much better. Rather than having to go into the menu constantly, Snake's camo will change automatically to blend in with the environment and help him evade enemies. You can also hold up enemies just like before, only this time you can perform body searches while holding them up rather than having to shake them down. You can also restrain them to the ground to knock them out. If you really need to get by an enemy and you're running out of options, you can always play dead. This also works when you get spotted and knocked down by an enemy.

There's also the implementation of the Solid Eye. This is more vital to sneaking around than anything. It works very similar to the radar in Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, showing you how much noise you or your enemy is making. Also new to here is the threat ring. The threat ring surrounds Snake at all times and will begin to act up depending on how close an enemy is to him. All of these seem like they'll take forever to get used to, but you'll quickly adapt. Just like previous games in the series, if you're spotted, you'll have to escape from the enemy and hide.

There are also moments where you can take control of a Metal Gear Mk II, a very small version of Metal Gear that is controlled by Snake. This little guy allows Snake to scout out the area ahead. You can also use the Metal Gear Mk II to stun certain enemies.

Lastly, Snake has a psyche gauge. This is very similar to the stamina gauge in Metal Gear Solid 3. The gauge depletes depending on how stressed or exhausted Snake is. You can refill this by eating certain snacks like Rations or Noodles, but you can also refill it by resting for a while. But there are plenty of factors that affect Psyche. For example, if Snake has been in the sun too long, you'll have to move him into the shade. If he's been in cold water, you'll have to get him out of it. As his psyche gauge gets lower it becomes harder for him to perform certain actions, such as being able to aim properly. In other words, from time to time Snake will need to rest. Though there are also certain points in the game where his psyche gauge is restocked automatically.

You won't always be in stealth mode forever, though. There will be times when you have to fight, and the shooting mechanic works much better in Metal Gear Solid 4. When you're thrust into combat, the game plays very similar to a third person shooter. Allowing for more precise aiming and no longer forcing you to go into first person view to land a well placed shot. There's also a weapon shop where you can purchase, upgrade or customize weapons to your liking, another element that works to your liking and gives Metal Gear a lot of customization.

All this variation in gameplay means that Metal Gear Solid 4 has several different ways to approach it. Combine it's various gameplay elements with a selection of difficulty levels to up the challenge, and Metal Gear Solid 4, like the three before it, becomes a game you'll want to replay again and again. Sometimes it's just fun to mess around with your enemies or just to see how else you can go about a certain area.

Visually, Metal Gear Solid 4 is incredible to look at. There's a ton of detail in the environment, and the atmosphere is also a good one. You're very much immersed in the world of Metal Gear Solid 4. There are a couple of load times that can be annoying, especially the installation. The camera, while it's great, can sometimes be a pain. It's easy to control, but sometimes you'll find yourself fighting with it.

Music wise, there's a memorable score to Metal Gear Solid 4. There's a lot of voice work as well. Much of it is great, although at times you will get the feeling that some of the voice actors and over-acting. On the whole, Metal Gear Solid 4 is a beautiful looking, (and sounding) game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is an amazing experience. If you can handle lengthy cutscenes you'll be satisfied with the final results. If you can handle a couple of annoying load times, you'll be satisfied. The amount of gameplay here is incredible, and the fact that there are so many ways to go about each area is also a lot of fun. For Metal Gear fans, Metal Gear Solid 4 is easily the reason to own a Playstation 3.

If you've ever played San Andreas then your going to love this, this game is not boring and there's alot to do, lots of off road vehicles for off-roading and lots of customization options for your cars.

Overall its a HUGE improvement over Grand Theft Auto IV, its brighter and more colorful, the people come to life in the game and better car handling, for people who care about graphics its a big improvement over IV but I'd like to point out that if you choose a game by its graphics then your never going to enjoy good games and being picky over graphics ruins the experience (but like I said they're great in this game).

No the game does NOT freeze, sadly I played it straight for over 10 hours without realizing it and it never froze nor did I experience any bugs at all, it played flawlessly, so I really don't know what these people are talking about it being buggy, if it doesn't freeze within that amount of time then I think its pretty obvious its not going to and maybe they are having problems with their Xbox and not the game.

The one thing that I do hate in this game is the crashes aren't as realistic is they are in IV, its similar when crashing in Saints Row, but I didn't pay $60 just so I could experience good crashes, I got it for free roaming, and after playing it for awhile you really don't even notice the cheesy crashes anymore, during gameplay you may notice things you don't like and an example of that would be the crashes, or maybe you don't like the way the planes and helicopters handle because of the wind blowing against it (the flying is realistic and helicopters are difficult to handle, which I like.. it'll make it harder for little kids to shoot me on multiplayer when they're in a chopper), but in my opinion this is the best Grand Theft Auto to date and I would strongly suggest you don't pass on this game because its worth it.

***THIS GAME IS RATED MATURE!!!***: so parents if you don't think your kids aren't mature enough to handle this game then DONT buy it for them, I'm sick of seeing parents complaining and the news making Grand Theft Auto games out to be a game that makes kids do bad things when in the first place the parents shouldn't even buy young kids a game that clearly says 17+ on the back and you have to be 17 and up to buy it, so please don't rate games badly based on your ignorance.

And if you get this game and notice that the online multilayer isn't up yet don't freak, it says its going to be up 2 weeks from this past 17th (GTA V release date)

The mission structure has been improved in GTA V with ample check-pointing. That's point number one. As highly rated as GTA IV was, even at the time I felt frustrated by constantly starting failed missions all the way from the top. Well, this time Rockstar has changed that and for that one change alone the game is much more enjoyable.

Everything else is as you would expect a GTA game to bejacking vehicles and cruising the open world as you see fit. The missions range from utterly awesome (the heists) all the way down to mundane races against an exercise-crazed character.

Speaking of crazythat pretty much includes every single character in GTA. No one is "normal" in this game. But that's the stylea realistic world inhabited by some parallel world of people whose motivations, personalities, and actions are blown up and exaggerated. By real-world standards, every character in the game would be diagnosed a psychopath. In GTA V, psycho-path is defined by Trevor Phillips, so anything less than Trevor-crazy seems normal.

But the game knows how to have fun and not take itself too seriously. GTA V would turn into a really dark drama (a crazy one)without the absurdity and comedy written in to the script. Instead, amidst the dark deeds that happen in GTA V, the whole experience feels light. Even the game world is bright, with Los Santos bathed in beatiful sunlight almost all the time during daylight hours. It rarely rains. And at the moon even manages to light up the night.

And that notorious torture scene? Meh, really not as bad as you think. I'm sure Rockstar knew what they were doing when they put that in the final product. You can't release a huge game like this without putting something controversal in it. You need that for publicity and it scores you points (usually) with your hardcore fans for staying on the edge and pushing boundaries. In the end, my opinion of this particular scene is that it is a bit corny (In keeping with the "light" feel of the game as I described). The person being tortured makes some blatant statements regarding a certain political topic and all comes off as being really goofy. I think that was the intention.

The characters are great, the voice acting is well done, and the writing to me is outstanding. The only thing that gets tiresome is driving. At some point you just want to fast travel mission to mission and the cab just isn't cutting it for me. I can only imagine the next GTA will implement a better fast travel system. Apart from that, I'm never for want of weapons and ammunition and money is plentiful. Good. Focus is stricly on the missions, story progression, and enjoying the world of Los Santos.

One of my favorite games of the year.

Meh. I had fun playing it but once the story was done I had no desire to keep playing. Online doesn't Appeal to me and I can't be bothered to locate 1000000 alien ship parts and stunt jump locations.

Honest reviews on Grand Theft Auto V - Xbox 360

Although I cannot review this game in its entirety, I can still tell you about some of the things ive noticed right away. I have not finished the game yet, but I am a good deal into it.

Before you even put in the playable disk you must install the first disk. Yes there are two disks, but do not install the second! (As in load it to your hard drive) Rockstar made an announcement about this, i just wanted to warn everyone aswell.

First off, as most gta games have been, you must complete a short mission before you can do whatever you like. No spoilers there.

Once you do get to free roam, it is amazing. The map is beautiful, and there is so much to do. This game is so far, amazing!

There was alot of debate about the driving engine in this game, I find it to be much better than gta 4.

Pros:

-Amazing game

-Beautiful map

-Tons of stuff to do

-Driving is awesome

Cons:

-You can say goodbye to your social life for a while!

-But on a serious note, there is no app for android to customize cars etc.

-Also there are some bugs. (Cars randomly flipping over, wrong clothes on character)

-no big glitches, but small things that make it not perfect.

Overall, Just buy it already! You're missing out!!

Update September 18th 2013.

-Loading (Or lack of loading) is flawless! You transition from cutscene to playing soo smoothly.

-The missions are extremely fun and have great variety!

-Ive played for about 8 hours (Focusing on missions) and im only 20% into the total missions.

-Switching weapons takes time to get used to, but is a great system overall

-Ive never been more into a story in a video game before!

I bought this to play Forza 4 with. It seems to be good quality but is a bit small. Everything works and responds well though.

The only negative I have to say is it doesn't have forced feed-back (doesn't fight back). My roommate has a better wheel but dropped about 40 more on it.

If your looking for a quality wheel (a bit small), but don't want to spend a lot this is the one for you.

OK, mea culpa, I thought this was a wireless device when I ordered it. It's not, and it was my mistake. I am not sending it back, it's quite light-years beyond what I was using for my racing games (held-in-the-air wireless wheel, )even with the wires. But there are issues, to wit:

1) It is quite small. The wheel is about the size of a salad plate; not a problem as far as I'm concerned. But if you want to sit this thing on your lap, as described in the instructions, you better have some skinny thighs. I'm a 5'8" out-of-shape cyclist, I can *barely* get the leg supports around my thighs, and I am not particularly comfortable once I wedge my legs in there. Certain important anatomical regions are compressed to an uncomfortable, but not distressing, degree. Problem solved by placing the steering unit on a stable wood TV tray.

2) There are suction cups on the bottom of the unit that are supposed to adhere to a flat surface. Mine work for about 30 seconds. Even so, it's not a problem, I push down on the steering wheel anyway. Doesn't slide or anything, just don't pull back, the wheel will jump off whatever surface you have it on.

3) The pedals are quite close together; not a problem if you use one foot and switch between gas/brake (there is a dedicated space for your left foot, and if you mash on that, it will hold the unit down) but I drive with two feet. It's alright, but kind of close. And that driving style contributes to the next issue.

4) I have wood floors; the pedal board slides. Solved by placing a 4x6 inch bit of non-slip material that we use underneath area rugs below the pedal board. I don't think this would be an issue on carpet.

All that being said, I like the unit, it's responsive, the vibration feel is intense, the wheel behaves like I think it should... I immediately drove quicker using this rather than the unattached "wheel in the air" I was using.

Disclaimer: I'm a novice at video games (but not a novice about auto racing). Expert video gamers might not agree with my opinions. Come to think of it, maybe NOBODY will agree with me.

I'm cool with this unit, for the price. If it was $50 more, I might complain more. But I'm pretty easy. This works for me.

Bought this for our xbox 360 and my husband and kids like it. The only thing is the cord is not as long as we would like. My husband likes it better then the xbox 360 remotes for driving and my kids do too.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 - MC2 MicroCon Racing Wheel - Black

I bought this for my twin boys for their birthday as they are just 6 and have some difficulty using the regular controllers to steer and function in Forza 3, PG4 and other racing games they have. It is a bit on the small side but perfect for them and fits me fairly well too. My husband is a bigger guy and he doesn't care for using this much as it doesn't fit on his lap very well. I am terrible at racing games but this helps me control the cars a bit better and is more intuitive than using a controller. Overall, having a steering wheel and pedals to use when you're driving is great and helps enhance the enjoyment of the game. All the same buttons are there so once you figure out which one does what, this can be used as easily as the controllers for navigating within Xbox as well. I recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to fork out $150 for a wireless MC wheel set and is leery of the wireless one that looks more like a Wii peripheral and doesn't have all the buttons like this does. I prefer to have pedals too. The wires are a bit of a nuisance, we have 3 boys running around and dogs too so occasionally someone or something is getting tangled in a cord but that is a minor complaint and it wasn't worth double the price and then some to have the wireless set up.

I bought this wheel go along with my recently attained Forza Motorsport 4. I had read the review about this wheel (and its playstation and universal counterpart) and decided to buy it because I didn't want to spend a whole lot on a video game.

The next wheel, pricewise, is the Madcatz wireless wheel for ~$100, it doesn't include vibration of any kind, the next is ~$150 which is virtually identical but with vibration, and beyond that there is the Fanatec (which I wish I could afford to spend the money on). So for any kind of feedback this is the wheel for under a hundred bucks. One review mentions a terrible squeaking after an hour, I have had this for over a week and not experienced anything different than when I got it(played with many hours a day).

(have had this wheel for over a week)

Pro's:

good quality

270 degree turn

cheap

really easy set up

vibration for under 100 bucks

Con's:

wheel diameter (8.75in {almost 20cm})

BAXY layout (A,B on left X,Y on right)

no clutch pedal
