I ordered this controller on March 11 with a delivery estimate of March 20 at the latest. On the day it was supposed to arrive, I checked the tracking status as I do everyday for my shipments and it was still showing "Electronic Shipping Info Received" which only proves the company has paid for the shipping label. I emailed them and asked what was wrong and they said they'd look into it. A few days later it still showed the same thing on the tracking page and I emailed them again. Alas, the day after that, USPS shows on their tracking "Accepted at Origin Sort Facility" which means that's when they finally brought my package to the post office. They tried to play it off by saying "we'll send you a replacement" and the one that I'm seeing that's now shipped out is supposed to have been the replacement but I know it was just a face-saving ploy because it was the same tracking number throughout. If I was actually sent a replacement, it'd have a new, different tracking number so this just shows they didn't ship my package until 16 days later after several inquires.

The quality of the controller was not perfect. Improper care of the controller during installation of the mod chip by the technicians caused the right analog stick to randomly, slowly drift during play. Imagine not touching your controller but your character is turning slowly at random times during play. This was easily "remedied" by moving the analog stick in any direction but it is a hassle and distracting to the gameplay when your controller acts without intention. So I email GeniusMods360 and tell them the problem and they tell me I have to send it back and they'll either replace it or repair it. They were unwilling to send out an identical replacement for me to use in the meantime during the limbo I'll be without my controller when I'm sending it back. I even told them there aren't trust issues with this because I can just be billed for the replacement if I don't send back the original. They still tell me to send it back while conveniently ignoring my request for them to send me a unit to use but whatever, I've come to expect passive behavior and disappointment with this company. I send the defective unit back and I'm told their technicians will troubleshoot it and determine if I will get a replacement or a repaired unit. I know this means I'm going to get a repaired unit because it's obvious a company of this caliber will do whatever it takes not to send out new units if they can help it. 10 days later, April 24th now, and I get my controller in the mail. Of course it's my same unit, "repaired". But instead of the technicians actually repairing it, they only loosened the tension on the analog stick such that it wouldn't slowly drift anymore, but also with the side effect that the stick doesn't recognize ANY minuscule input. That means I can move my stick ~5 degrees in any direction and it won't register any movement. Micro-adjustments in game are important as any other aspect of what a controller provides and they stripped it of this ability as a lazy "fix" to my drifting problem. I emailed them again and just requested a refund. Will never buy from this company again. YMMV with this company.

I recently ordered (and received) the Geniusmods controller for my son. We both have played with it and this is my review.

I have to state that my initial opinion of this controller was not so good. I had super high expectations that this would completely revolutionize our game play...But, after working with Geniusmods, I'm super happy with them and their controller. I'll give you my 2 issues first and then end with the positives.

2 Issues:

Issue 1: Modded controllers change the power distribution and ohm load; some controllers are VERY finicky when you go around messing with how they distribute power. Unfortunately, the one I initially received had a very bad aiming issue. The controller would not aim where I pointed the stick, it was very jerky. Though, I decided to play through this and see if I could adapt. Long story short, I could not. If I couldn't, I know my son couldn't!

Issue 2: Unfortunately, day one out of the box, I broke it. I had been playing with the controller for a couple of hours. Obviously I had to test it before I gave it to my son :) and in a heated battle I had been gripping the controller so hard I accidentally pushed in "mod" button and was unable to turn the mod on or off (I was playing with it mods on and mods off to get a good feel for how much different it would be).

Being the tech wizard that I am...I figured I could easily fix the controller; and we just got it, so I didn't want to send it back and have to wait again. Long story short...I couldn't fix the controller.

The Positives:

Positive 1: EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION! I sent an email to Geniusmods explaining my issues. I even mentioned that I opened the controller to try to fix it myself (thus voiding my warranty). I received a call from within an hour from the customer support team and they were very sorry to hear about both issues I was having.

Positive 2: WILLING TO STAND BEHIND THEIR CONTROLLER! After I explained the aiming issues, they immediately asked me to send it back to them to fix it. The lady I spoke with was concerned that I had opened the controller, but she said that as long as I don't open the new one, she will honor their warranty, fix the one I have and send it back to me (after ensuring the aiming issue is worked out).

Positive 3: WILLING TO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND! I have multiple scuf controllers and I really like having the paddles on the bottom. I wanted to give one to my son, but I also wanted him have the functionality of the modded controller too. While I was on the phone with them I asked if they could combine the two controllers, she said that they could (for a nominal fee of course)...let me tell you, the nominal fee was very reasonable! So, I sent them the bottom half of one of my scufs and their controller.

Positive 4: MORE EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION! After I sent back my controller, they constantly kept me up to speed (via email) with what they were doing and when I could expect my controller back. They took some extra time to ensure the aiming issues were worked out and to ensure nothing was wrong with the controller.

Positive 5: CONTROLLER WORKS GREAT! My son is extremely pleased with the controller! The rapid fire modes work great, the aiming is smooth and spot on, and the look and feel is great!

Overall, I am very pleased with Geniusmods and if I want a modded controller for myself, I would definitely order from them. One piece of advice though, a modded controller will NOT help you aim better. If you play poorly because you can't aim, this won't help you...well, that's not technically true, it will help you because it does reduce the recoil of the gun...but, It won't help you initially get on target.

I hope this review was helpful!

This game had more combos then Mortal Kombat it should have been remember now. I wish they were still making games of this on PS2. You can make the fighters fight faster by holding down all the buttons when you pick your fighter and when they have on the screen your fighter vs the computer to tell that it worked it will make a punching sound. The computer always tell you how many combos you made in other words how many hits. The most hit is the altra which has 24 hits, thats the finishing one. My favorite fighters are Spinal, Fulgore, B. Orchid, Jago, Combo, Thunder, Saberwolf, Raptor, Cinder. This game makes the Street Fighter games on Super NES look like a pre school game.

I hope Nintendo re releases this masterpiece of a game to the game boy advanced.Soon im getting a game boy advanced and it would be cool to play Killer Instinct werever I go, whenever I want. If you have not played this game I urge you to play it its a classic......Remember mister or misses I work for nintendo and Im reading this please put this on Game Boy Advanced.

Well, i know that i am not a boy, but i am a tomboy, and this game is the best one that ive got. i cant wait to get home from school every day just so that i can play Killer Instinct. My boyfriend gave this game to me only a week ago, but the 1st time that i played it, i just got attached. so he gave the game to me, and i still havent tired of playing it, and usually im tired of a game after like, 3 days. the game is very interesting, and im learning new combos every day. this is the kind of game that just does not get old!!! the game is very challenging, and it is very cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honest reviews on Killer Instinct

This awesome fighting game came free with the SNES my mother bought for my brother and myself many years ago. Unfortunately, she would only let us play the game once a week for one hour because of the violence. We loved the game so much, but for some reason (probably because we were tired of only being able to play once a week) we ended up selling it to our neighbor and never saw it again. However, I recently ordered it from Amazon so I can relive the thrill.

I am not disappointed. Although it's been many years since I've played Killer Instinct, it holds its own even against modern fighters like Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Soul Calibur II, and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core.

Each character has several special moves at their disposal, and they have quick/medium/fierce punches and kicks. The combos you can link are absolutely insane, and unlike any I have ever seen. There are also No Mercies which are like the fatalities of Mortal Kombat that can be used for a really cool finish once your opponent is on their last breath. You can also perform Ultra combos that reach over 20 hits in a row at a minimum! Also, Ultimate combos are executed when you do a regular combo, put the opponent to zero HP (at which time you can still continue the combo if you so choose), and then perform the No Mercy at the end. The smooth motions are fun to watch as you string a variety of moves together to perform insane assaults on your opponent.

The graphics are awesome for the SNES. The characters look really cool, and the enviornments are beautiful. Killer Instinct has some great music too. If you get the CD with the game, Killer Cuts, you'll be able to hear better/fleshed out version of the songs. It doesn't get any better!

The game supports an Arcade mode in which you fight all of the characters in succession and ultimately fight the boss of the game, Eyedol. A training mode is available, as well as 2 player mode and a tournament mode for multiple players. There are 6 difficulty levels, but none of them are particularly easy. This game is definitely for skilled gamers or those who are willing to put in the effort to learn the game. From the first opponent in the arcade mode you have to put up a serious fight to attain victory.

I love how complex the combo system is, and the challenge level (although sometimes frustrating) really motivates me to get better and better. If you want a deep fighting game with great mechanics, cool characters, and is a true classic, then this game is for you. This was a gem that no fan of fighting games should pass up.

This is one of my favorite fight games of all time. I have just started playing it again and I still had remembered some of the cool combos. I still wanted to try KI Gold again though. I dont think I have gotten the hang of a few things.

The Cooling Fan for the Xbox 360 is awesome, but I noticed once I turned off the Xbox waited for it to completely cool down thinking the fan would go off after that. But it's still on I guess there's no real way to make the fan turn off unless un-plugging the USB part of it, but oh well it's still pretty cool

I purchased one of these. It keeps the game system very cool. Which is great that's what it is supposed to do.

It also doesn't turn off. Ever. If you want it to turn off you have to unplug it. If you unplug it and forget to take it off you will forget to plug it back in and it will interfere with the cooling of your system. After getting irritated I finally just left it on, ALWAYS. It wasn't too loud it ran 24-7 for 5 months and then broke.

Review of Blitz: The League II - Xbox 360

Blitz: The League II - Xbox 360
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
The Good:

* Compelling Storyline

* Do stuff that you cannot do in other football games(drugs, bet on games, date, sponsors, cause intentional injuries, etc...)

* Frank Caliendo (as John Madden) play-by-play is nothing short of hilarious

* Build your team, player from bottom all the way to the top

* Solid Soundtrack Exclusives

The Bad:

* Once again, possible "Rubber Band A.I."

The Bottom Line:

Looking for a politically-incorrect alternative to Madden series? Look no further than this one. A new play-by-play of Frank Caliendo as John Madden is worth the money alone. There are so many funny lines, it will keep you laughing for the whole game. A new feature in this sequel is that you can be selective when injuring your opponent, as you get to decide which body part you want to injure seconds before the collision. If somebody injures you, you now have the option of taking care of injury right on a field with mini-games: trying to align a syringe while the ailing players moving and shaking and even a mini-game where you have to put the bones back into the sockets. Other interesting storyline decisions that you would have to make will be dating your sponsors. Do you want to date one girl or date other girls and use their sponsorship to your advantage? Once again, there will be many Easter eggs to hunt and pick-up on, as Minnesota franchise goes on a wild ship cruise and the New England team gets accused of cheating. Lawrence Taylor comes back as a major character, while Bill Romanowski doesn't. The computer seems to play much better when falling behind, which could suggest that just like last game, they are utilizing the "Rubberband AI." however, If you are a football fan and a fan of Frank Caliendo, this is a must get! Due to the nature of this game, it should only be played by mature audience.

I loved the first Blitz game. It was football the way it's supposed to be played. Even without NFL teams or players, Blitz provided the hard-hitting action needed in football. Broken necks, concussions, and fractured tibias (coupled with a doctor's view video of the injury) made it fun. It became a competition of how mayn opponents can I hurt, and how long can I keep them out for?

Blitz 2 takes a lot of good strides, but misses on key notes. Here's a list of Pros and Cons:

PROS

Hard-hits and lots of injuries

Good, in-depth career mode

Lots of creation ability on logo, team name, uniform colors and style, etc.

Offensive Coordinator's comments are profane and funny, but run their course quickly

Addition of "special" commentator Mohn Jadden is a riot!

CONS

Not enough to unlock that I care about (i.e. four new game modes, but 20 behind the scenes videos)

Injury cut scenes can't be skipped, even when it's not your team

Mini game for injury impact detracts from game, slows down gameplay, and gets really annoying really quickly

Injury remedy mini games get annoying after a few games

Loading takes a while, even for exhibition games

Best Deals for Blitz: The League II - Xbox 360

I have always been a fan of the Blitz series. I never liked sports games very much, but this is something different. Who doesn't like injuring the other teams players. Blitz the League II is far better and more versatile than the original Blitz the League. The injury system is more graphic and you actually have to participate in helping the injury recover quickly with either giving a shot or resetting the bone.

They also have a player creation system in campaign mode that is developed like a press interview which is really cool too. On a scale of 1 10 I'd give the first Blitz the League a 5 and this one an 8. If you're a fan of the Blitz series, this one won't disappoint.

Honest reviews on Blitz: The League II - Xbox 360

It's fun for a couple of hours...the AI is so dirty and cheap, it takes some of the fun out of playing the campaign. Not bad in vs. setting though. Co-op campaign wouldnt have been a terrible idea either.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Blitz: The League II - Xbox 360

2 player is a lot of fun. No issues there, but unless you enjoy throwing your controller at your t.v. don't bother playing the campaign. The computer was always cheap, even in the first one but this one was just ridiculous.

If the computer seems to be winning no matter what you do, do yourself a favor: Just put the controller down and let the game play out. Because whether you like it or not, the computer will win. Whether it be through fumbles, slips on the field, 6 broken tackles (seriously), you name it. It will happen to you until you lose. And don't worry about what you upgrade because the computer's teams will always have it upgraded more. I focused all money and stats on my team's speed from the beginning of the game and STILL, every team was much faster than mine. Even division 3 teams will piss you off

I can't take the swings. The mechanics and A.I. are completely manipulated by what the score is. There's no consistency whatsoever. This was a problem with the first one but it's way more obvious in this one.

There is nothing like college football there is more emotion, spirit, and atmosphere than in the pros. That could be why some college football video games fall short of the ratings pro games receive, they just don't put you in the game or seem as realistic. They dont capture the intensity and emotion of the game which makes it so popular. Plain and simply this game does. The stadiums are so amazing its like ur right there you hear the fans react to plays and refere calls. The bands playing the fight songs can send chills up your spine. The players stumble and regain their feet. Bone crunching tackles. You can hear the pads crashing, that is football. And this game brings u all of that and much more. You can play the 20 greatest games of the last two decades and create players. You can also create teams and their stadiums which includes everything down to the surface u play on. The graphics are amazing the jukes and spin moves are enough to knock you out of you seat. If you are a fan of football especially college football this is the game to get.

I thought NCAA 2003 was the pinnacle of this series, but EA Sports has outdone itself with the 2004 edition of NCAA Football!

Certainly, they have added new "goodies" like Sports Illustrated magazine covers based on your dynasty season, heritage football teams that are dressed like their era, more fun and goofy college mascots, and overall better graphics.

The biggest upgrade, and the one most important to continuing fans of the series, is to the gameplay. It's those little details the average reviewer doesn't notice but you do because you've taken your dynasty twelve years deep. It's the fact that your offensive lineman are now awarded pancakes and you can therefore win the Offensive Lineman of the Year. Or the fact that you can lead a receiver with your throw to take him away from defensive pressure. Sacks are more plentiful. Special teams is vastly improved, with members of your team forming a wedge in front of you on punts and kickoff returns. No longer can you just play "Toss Sweep" and outsprint the computer to the corner. It takes sophistication in your play to advance. In short, NCAA has taken an already impressive football simulation and made it even more realistic and authentic in its gameplay. It has all the glitz, but it also has all the important stuff: the gameplay that makes you feel that your coaching and playing has an impact on every down.

One also has to appreciate the sheer expertise EA Sports has shown in assigning attributes to the different teams and players. It is extraordinarily accurate in gauging real teams' abilities.

So the positives of this game:

-Improved Gameplay

-Tons of goodies (throwback teams, Sports Illustrated, more of everything)

-Authentic recreation of what we all love about the college game

The negatives (and you have to look really hard for these):

-Some of the commentary dialogue is new, but most is the same as last year

-The opening sequence at the start of each game is slightly changed but largely the same

-Running backs don't catch the ball coming out of the backfield very well (I'm being very nit-picky on this one!)

Tremendous game... you won't be disappointed!

Best Deals for NCAA Football 2004

I did like NCAA 2003 with its freaky-deep Dynasty mode and all, but nothing prepared me for what NCAA 2004 had in store. Basically, it's NCAA 2003 with a facelift

Pros: 1. Its NCAA 2003... With a facelift!

2. EA Sports teams up with Sports Illustrated to make this a better game (the best moment in Sports Gaming since Sega meets ESPN!)

3. More Teams, Plays, and Mascots

4. The Best Dynasty Mode around just got even deeper

5. NCAA 101 will help newbies to the game by teaching then the basics (Offense, Defense, The Option, etc.)

Cons: 1. The game has some bugs in it (one is where the game stalls for some random reason, but dont worry, this only happens for about 5 seconds then it returns to normal. Another is the typical EA bug where it sometimes does that "this disk cannot be read" thing)

2. Loading times are a travesty

Final Verdict: Id say buy it, the bugs dont really ruin the game's image at all and with the SI contract, this game is a cant miss

Honest reviews on NCAA Football 2004

You can check sales figures to see that EA's NCAA Football ranks as one of the best selling titles of all time, or you can simply believe a long-time gamer who has lived through such games as 10 Yard Fight, 4th And Inches, and Tecmo Bowl......Please, take my word for it; this is a great football game!

I had read the reviews, talked to friends, and seen the trailers, so I decided to give NCAA 2004 a try to see what all of the fuss was about. Needless to say, I was blown away, and the game has certainly lived up to my expectations.

The spirit of the college game comes alive in NCAA 2004. The rivalries, the rankings, the bowl games, the prestige, the fans, the teams, the mascots.....it's all there. Of course, the dynasty/franchise mode is the best you will ever have the pleasure of playing. Recruiting, signing, training, scheduling, negotiating contracts.....you're in the game. The gameplay and the graphics are smooth, and the controls are tight. It is challenging, competitive, and last but not least.....FUN!

I noticed that a couple of reviews on this site mentioned some technical flaws. Well, I have played one full season of dynasty mode, and I have yet to witness any glitches that affected play. Do yourself a favor, and play this game.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for NCAA Football 2004

I'm not one to go out and buy the newest version of NCAA or Madden each season. I talked myself into buying this (and not Madden 2004) simply because I heard about the 20 Greatest College Games being added onto the game. Naturally, I expected to actually be able to PLAY these game. Unfortunately, they are situationalsexampleFor the 1986 Fiesta Bowl, you're Miami with 3:09 left and you're down 14-10 against Penn State. You cannot control the defense in this situation, only the offense (this might not apply to the other 19 Greatest Games, but as far as I know, you control one or the other). As for game play, its much smoother. When tackled, the players' 'falls' are more realistic. Play action passes provoke the camera to change views to fool the defense more (more effective against another user). The Sports Illustrated cover with the Preseason picks and All Americans is a nice addition. Aside from my gripe over the 20 Greatest Games, the only other issue I have is that the game is not live enabled, but no EA Sports games are for XBOX. All in all, its a good buy if you're an absolute sports junkie.

Xbox 360 HD DVD Player Review

Xbox 360 HD DVD Player
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
I've been using this Xbox HD-DVD player for almost a month now and so far it works just great. I actually had no plans to buy either Blu-Ray or HD-DVD until one of those losers became a dominate player. Unfortunately it doesn't look like that's going to happen any time soon. And for $200, I couldn't pass it up since I already had an Xbox. And I couldn't bring myself to keep buying low-def regular DVD's with these awesome HD DVD's out there. AND, the HD DVD combo discs still have regular DVD content for normal DVD players in other rooms in the house.

Out of the box, this drive is extremely easy to setup. Just pop in the setup CD, plug it in, and you're ready to go. There is a separate power cord as well. The included remote is nice, but I'll stick with my Harmony 880. It's able to control all the basic functions of the player. The player is also unable take advantage of the improved audio quality of HD-DVD, so you just get the normal "good" audio quality you had with previous DVD's. Which isn't bad, but still somewhat disappointing. Otherwise, all the menu's work nicely, the player starts up fairly quick, and the picture quality is awesome for component video at least.

Component is probably the biggest negative I can think of and that's really due to the Xbox 360's fault, not the player itself. If you think HD DVD looks good on your xbox component connection in 1080i, just wait until you see it via your HDMI port in 1080i or even 1080p (if your TV accept 1080p and is big enough to take advantage of such a high res). Unfortunately, there is no word of HDMI for the xbox. So you only get 1080i via the Component connection. To get 1080p, you need the VGA cable, which has a somewhat better picture.

So I bought the VGA cable. The picture does look a little better on my 61' Samsung HL-S6187W since it's also at 1080p, but there is a 1-3" border around the screen, and the image is tilted. Samsung had no idea how to fix it. But I suspected that might happen since a TV with a VGA port is still a TV, not a PC Monitor. Your results will of course vary depending on your model TV.

The VGA port limitations aren't that big of a deal. If you REALLY want 1080p, you just need HDMI period. I'll live with 1080i via Component for now until the 1080p players come down in price. In the meantime, at least I've got some awesome looking HD movies to watch on my new TV!

Pros:

* Cheapest HD-DVD solution if you have an XBox 360

* Easy to setup

* Accepts IR from your universal remote via the Xbox

* Great picture quality

* Includes Microsoft Remote and free King-Kong HD-DVD

* UPDATE: HDMI Output (with Xbox 360 Elite Only)

Cons:

* Only outputs 1080i via Component (VGA required for 1080p)

* VGA output has limitations, both due to Xbox and/or your TV

* Can't take advantage of HD-DVD improved audio quality formats

Bottom line, if you have an Xbox 360, and have a HD TV, you've gotta pick one of these up. You just can't go wrong for a $200 entry-level HD player!

*** ELITE/HDMI UPDATE ***

Just purchased the Xbox 360 Elite w/ HDMI. This HD DVD player is even more awesome than before. We just watched the entire Matrix Trilogy in HD DVD in 1080p on the 61" Samsung DLP and it looked awesome. When compared to component, the HDMI picture is much more crisp, detailed, and even better black levels. Definately recommended!

Microsoft has released the HD-DVD drive as an obvious counterstrike to the PS3's Blu-Ray capability, but the drive is much more than a bullet point in the console & format war.

PROS: The HD-DVD drive is quite simply the most efficient and cost-effective HD solution for those of us that already own XBOX 360s. However, even if you were to consider buying a 360 with the HD-DVD drive solely for movie watching, it is still very competetively priced compared to the stand-alone models. Adding to its value, the package includes Microsoft's Universal Remote, and a copy of King Kong on HD DVD. The picture and sound quality is superb, as advertised, almost identical to the quality produced from Toshiba's newer HD DVD model. Add all this to the fact that installation and operation is quick and seamless, with load times for discs quicker than that of the Toshiba. Finally, for those of you with super-nice TVs, at the time of release the XBox 360 HD DVD drive is the only HD source (apart from Blu-Ray) that is capable of outputting in 1080p (full HD), if you have a TV that will accept a native 1080p signal.

CONS: There is only one real 'con' that I can think of the drive's lack of HDMI connectivity. Although you can view the stunning 1080i picture over the XBox's HD component cables, for (I believe) copyright protection reasons you can't output HD DVD picture over component, despite the cable's capability. Therefore, if you want to take full advantage of the drive's picture capabilities, you'll have to utilize the seperately-sold VGA HD cable ($39.99), and this will only work if you have an 1080p HD monitor with PC/VGA input. Even with this, on my TV (Samsung 1080p DLP), a little black box is drawn around the picture frame, which slightly reduces the picture size, despite the increadible quality. Also worth mentioning is that while the drive has the same upconversion cababilities as the other HD DVD & Blu-Ray models for standard DVDs, this too is only obtainable through use of the VGA cable. Finally, without HDMI, the drive can't make full use of the newest HD Dolby Digital & DTS surround audio tracks, instead downconverting to the standard DD & DTS tracks you're used to on standard DVDs (still good quality, though).

In conclusion, the drive is fantastic, a tremendous value. Although the capability range of the drive is limited through the lack of HDMI connectivity, for most people this isn't going to be an important factor. Most people, even those with nice HDTVs, don't have 1080p TVs or 7.1 channel audio receivers with HD decoding capabilities. Hopefully, though, Microsoft will eventually produce an HDMI port for the XBox, which will unleash the drive's potential. In the meantime, this wonderful, small HD DVD player will be more than sufficient for most everyone looking to step in to the world of True HD (even those of us that can currently get around the 1080p issue with an extra cable).

If you have an XBOX 360 and and HDTV, this HD-DVD drive add-on is a no brainer. Microsoft utilized the 360's three processor cores and implemented a software based solution for decoding HD video. The results are pretty amazing. The picture generated over a component cable connection is crystal clear and beautiful. Colors are strong and vibrant, and the picture quality is light years beyond DVD. I've found the alternative format (Blu-Ray) to be washed out and not nearly as clean and crisp as the HD-DVD format on my Samsung DLP (1080i). I was thoroughly impressed, and extremely happy that I made this purchase.

For a limited time, the package also includes a 360 media remote and a King Kong HD-DVD. Can't beat it. Worth every penny.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 HD DVD Player

This is a great product if you already own the XBOX 360. As everyone has already mentioned, it's no-brainer for $200.

Pros:

· Incredible 1080i picture that blows away any HD transmission from your cable/satellite provider even at 1080i at least on my HDTV.

· Runs much quieter than the noisy regular DVD drive of the XBOX 360

· Up-scales regular DVDs. I did a real-time comparison with a regular DVD movie and quickly switched it from the XBOX 360 regular DVD tray and then into the HD-DVD player. I witnessed an incredible upscale in visual quality to the point that it was almost as good as an actual HD-DVD movie. The other amazing thing about my little experiment was that since both drives are "powered" through the same XBOX 360 processor/"brain", upon switching from one drive to the next, the XBOX was "smart" enough to pick up right where I stopped to the exact second in the scene from the regular DVD player. I was pretty impressed by that. Not sure how I would apply that again in the future, but it was cool nonetheless.

Cons And it's a major one if you own any of the Sony SXRD line of HD TVs:

· No HDMI output = No 1080p picture if you own a Sony SXRD line of HDTVs like me. I have the amazing Sony SXRD 50" rear projection LCD TV which defies logic at how sharp the picture is and how vivid the colors are in HD. With that said, I have yet to enjoy a 1080p picture on it because: 1) My cable provider transmits only a 720p/1080i picture (which I believe every satellite/cable provider is currently limited to in the US), and 2) XBOX 360 can only "transmit" a 1080p picture through a VGA cable. Though my TV does have a VGA input, a 1080p picture can only be possible utilizing the HDMI inputs.

· Conflicting XBOX Helpdesk supportWhen talking to XBOX support, their helpdesks gave me conflicting advise about whether or not my TV would project a 1080p picture through my VGA input. However, when I touched base with Sony, they were quite clear that the VGA connection for my TV would only go up to 1080i. The HDMI cable was necessary for 1080p.

You might say, "So freakin' what?" However, when you've paid a considerable amount of money for a TV that has 1080p capability over a substantially less expensive TV that can only go up to 720p/1080i you get the drift.

Hopefully, Microsoft can come up with a HDMI solution for current XBOX 360 owners (not just the rumored XBOX 360 version 2) and this problem will be solved. All in all, despite all of this 1080p nonsense, the HD player is a solid little add-on and I still highly recommend it.

I've been watching HDTV programming for quite a while now, so I was expecting only a minor improvement going to HD-DVD/Blu-ray. Boy was I wrong! The picture quality on the included King Kong disc is absolutely stunning! The difference isn't the resolution, but rather the lack of compression artifacts, and the great care taken in the making of this HD transfer. I hadn't realized how much I had gotten accustomed to the compression artifacts in HDTV broadcasts. The stunning clarity of a well-mastered HD source really caught me by surprise. If you've already got an Xbox 360 and an HDTV, this HD-DVD drive is well worth the purchase.

Setup is extremely easy. Plug it into the wall, but don't plug it into the Xbox just yet. Power up the Xbox and plop the update CD into the internal drive. It will install an update to your system and then prompt you connect the external drive via the included USB cable. That's it! Put in a movie and enjoy!

Navigation with a remote works well, just like a normal DVD player. I actually used my univeral remote, so I can't comment specifically on the bundled Microsoft remote, but it looks pretty typical.

As a bonus, this drive is recognized by Windows XP when plugged into a USB2 port. At the moment, there's no way to watch the movie itself, but you can see all the files on the disc, and it brings hope that with the next releases of PowerDVD/WinDVD, we might be able to watch HD-DVD movies on a PC using this drive.

The idea and look of these is just AMAZING. They are easy to install and built well.

MAJOR PROBLEM

The tops of the joystics are absolutely horrible. Well i actually don't mind the left side but if you play duty then you might as well give up on the right side because your finger will not sit on it well and it will slide all around and do nothing but make you very very very mad.

My fix. I use to use Kontrol Freeks. I had one left over so i grabbed the bottom of the rubber near the upright of the KF with needle nose pliers. I pulled the rubber off the plastic very slowly. Then i pulled some cotton off some qtips and stuffed the rubber with it. Just enough to make sure that the rubber wouldn't float around loosely on the modstick. Then i pulled the rubber back over the top of the modstick and WOWWWWW perfect! Wow i'm good. Anyways i only need this modification on the right side and if you can manage the same mod then go for it. It's wicked nice being able to drop stick down a little more than KontrolFreeks. I actually die less now because not only am i more accurate but when you are lifted up as drastic as a kontrol freek then it actually takes more time to turn fastly because of more travel.

I adore the GTA series and have been looking forward to the release of GTA IV for a *long* time. The developers know that a very high bar would be set for this one, and you can see the time and effort they poured into every last detail from the very first moment of the opening credits. It is more like a movie than a game. This "immersive movie" quality stays with you through every moment of gameplay.

You walk down the street and the shadows dapple through the overhead bridge grid. Dusk begins to fall and the sky gets that orange golden glow, the shadows lessen.

Voices show the same attention to detail. You've got a variety of languages thrown in, plus accents galore. There's the Long Island drawl, the Rastafarian's lilt, and of course the hard edge of eastern Europe.

Your main character is Nico, fresh off the boat and coming in to Liberty City (i.e. New York City) to see his cousin Roman. They are eastern European and rather poor. This of course is going to change soon, as Nico moves his way up in the world.

My boyfriend's from New York City so we were amused at how they kept the landscapes identical but renamed Brooklyn to Broker, Manhattan to Algonquin and so on. There was one time we were walking down the streets and had lost track of where we were. "Looks like the Bronx" he commented off-handedly. We zoomed out. Sure enough!

I do have to say that the people on the streets of this game swear far more than the average people we pass in the real NYC though!

Which brings up an important point. GTA IV went straight for the "Mature" rating with this one. This is clearly meant for mature gamers ages 17 and over. There are strip clubs. There are violent battles. There is more swearing than pretty much any other game out there. Adults love this as they love the Sopranos and Scarface but any parent getting this for a minor should know what they're getting into.

But that being said, as a game for adults, this is *awesome*. There are just so many little touches that shine. You can play bowling games with your date. You can make choices between alternate choices which affect how people feel about you. When you get near a railing, you can side jump over it, smoothly. You carry a cell phone and gather contacts for use. You can visit internet cafes. You have a variety of radio stations to listen to, plus TV stations to watch.

This is easily a game you can play for hundreds of hours then go back and start over again and get another new experience by making different choices.

I can't get over how gorgeous the game is, and how smoothly it plays. You grab a knife from an enemy and use it to take him down. You drive along the Hudson and watch the lights of the carnival shine. You listen to your favorite songs on the radio while the neon lights of the city drift by. You really begin to relate to the characters, to understand their personalities, to connect with them. It makes the choices you make have meaning and emotion.

As much as I adore many other games Halo, Mass Effect, etc. I really think this is the first game that makes you feel that you are in a movie. The graphics draw you in. The voices are amazingly well done and varied. The plot draws you in, having you wonder who to trust, having you wonder what is going on with the characters.

Highly recommended. I'm doing a full walkthrough for the game so feel free to ask any questions you wish!

I want to add a note some players are having trouble with understanding the dialogue. I watch a ton of international films so I didn't have any issues. However, if some of the language is too accented for you, there is a subtitles option. Just turn that on and you'll always know what they are saying.

9.25/10

When Grand Theft Auto III came out(the reason i got a PS2 way back in 2001), i knew something great was in the mix. it was a sign of change in the gaming industry. it showed us there could be more to games than levels, more than high scores, and more than even a good story. it showed us a virtual world you could become totally engulfed in(outside of RPG's). a world where you could go anywhere and do anything(although that was just mostly stealing cars and shooting pedestrians in those days). over the years they've made some serious improvements, from the bikes and helicopters of vice city, to the jets and ability to duck and roll/ manually aim in san andreas(finally!) and now their first venture onto this generation has finally arrived, and its a great day in the gaming world

the series continues to awe with this installment, even in this day and age in video games. Graphically speaking, it is simply beautiful. its amazing how much attention went into every aspect of this world. theres cracks and pot holes ranging in depth in the road, and varying curb heights. vehicle damage is very impressive, from dents and scratches to a hole for each bullet that hits. the lighting system is amazing, with day/night cycles and a rotating sun throughout the day. naturally the game doesnt have the detail of say Call of Duty 4, but you could fit like 50 Call of Duty 4 maps in this city! its that huge. you have to take the size of a game into consideration when rating the graphics, thats been a given for how long now?? just to clear things up for the clowns complaining the graphics.

when you walk out the door theres so much to be done you might want to keep a checklist for the days. although what you actually choose to do is up to you. causing chaos is always an option. you can go bowling, play pool, play darts, get drunk, go to a srip club, get some food, check out the in game internet, and tons more. you could always just surf the channels on your TV.

your cell phone is a pivotal part of the game. you can call friends and girlfriends for various activities(some are listed above), and if you neglect them for long enough, they'll call you. you can also call potential employers for jobs.

theres the standard "go kill this guy" and "go get this" but they have been very entertaining anyway so far. theres much more depth to many missions, including stealth. one example is having to steal a cop car, then proceed to pull over different shipping trucks until you find the one full of TV's.

gameplay is vastly improved. the cover system is great, allowing you to quickly roll and protect yourself behind random cars, trash cans, and basically anything else thats big enough.

the game has a much more realistic feel than previous entries. you'll find yourself making sure theres no cops around before committing crimes. the star system is still here, but this time your wanted level is radius based, and if you can get far enough away from all cops, or at leased out of sight, your wanted level will go down. its honestly genius. i narrowly escaped one by jumping the guard rail and running down a steep hill, only to see another driving my way in the distance. quickly ducking into the alley behind a dumpster, i watched him roll by and waited for my stars to begin to fade. some cars are locked and you'll need to break a window to get in and proceed to hotwire it.

-for all you parents out there, the content is more mature than previous entries. you get a pretty good look at the in-car action with the street workers.. hehe.. and "coarse" language is used every couple minutes(at leased). the violence and blood looks more realistic now too. thats usually not what you guys worry about so much though.

my only real complaints are the hand to hand combat(its the most solid of the series but San Andreas seemed to have more move depth), and the fact that you cant go into more buildings. dont get me wrong, theres TONS of places to go and things to do, but i was hoping for even more. there have been waaay too many things that made San Andreas great and were simply missing here. no car customization, less clothes, less weapons, no property to buy, and more.. in some ways its one step forward and two steps back.

i wont elaborate on the story much, as its already been done heavily. basically your an illegal immigrant from eastern europe. your cousin convinced you to come to America with his stories of mansions and sports cars. when you arrive things arent quite as described. you start in the darkest, grittiest part of Liberty City. a pocket full of change and a head full or dreams. what happens next is in your hands..

Best Deals for Grand Theft Auto IV - Xbox 360 (Standard Edition)

Before I start ranting, I just want to say that GTA4, as a game of its own, is actually quite good, but as a GTA game, it has shortcomings. So Let's kick this review off right.

Graphics: GTA4 has rather well defined graphics. It is definitely much better from it's predecessors. Among many of the improvements graphically; people in the car actually move as they speak, blood stains actually appear on your car if you hit people, hitting newspaper stands actually cause newspapers to go flying everywhere, and some of the text on those flying newspapers is actually legible. So, suffice it to say, GTA is graphically a good game. Is it as good as all the other games out there, not really, but it is an open ended gameplay where you can go anywhere, and as far as that goes, it is pretty great.

Glitches: The game has quite a few glitches, as most of them do, which cause random events from a car to start flying in circles to your legs falling through the floor. It is expected in most games of this style I suppose, but is worth mentioning that these are no fewer than any previous GTA Game.

Setting: Taking place in a new liberty city similar to New York, the game offers little in the ways of variety. You go from tight closed off streets with big buildings to tight closed off streets with really big buildings. It is a bit claustrophobic, giving you very little room to just drive and speed up to top speed. San Andreas was expansive, giving you three cities completely different in appearance, numerous small towns, mountains, forests, and deserts. 4 gives you one city, nothing else.

Car Gameplay: The cars in this game seem much more difficult to control, was this done for realism sake, I am not sure. However, sometimes, some cars have incredibly poor traction and put you into terrible accidents when you think you have plenty of time to stop. It is hard to tell which cars are better, as appearance doesn't always suggest driving style. A couple of added things kind of make the gameplay funner. Most park cars are locked now, so you actually break the window, unlock the car, then actually hotwire it, You can speed up hotwiring, but it usually doesn't take more than a couple seconds anyway. Also, you can receive damage, fly out the window shield, die in fatal accidents, drive drunk (which always gets a cop on your tail) and even have a car die and won't start up again. However, many of these events seem random, and you can ram a building at 50 miles an hour and recieve no damage, or hit a fence and 25 miles an hour, fly our your window shield, and have you car land on you. So that kind of sucks.

Person Gameplay: On a surplus, you can now use cover and hide behind stuff, also peaking out from behind cover to shoot an opponent. You also have a new melee system, which includes kick, punch, and block combos. It isn't much better than the original system, but it does give you a bit more control over what you are doing to your opponent. However, once you get a couple guns, this becomes almost irrelevant anyway. Everything else is just about the same from previous games.

Story: The story is OK. I can't say I feel too passionate about the protagonist, who just doesn't appeal to me as much as the GTA3 + characters, who were frequently hilarious and likable. Niko revenge story does not seem as passionate as GTA3, and that guy was a mute. He lacks the ambition of VC character, and SA did a better job of displaying that protagonists goals and ideals(protecting his home and family). Besides that, it seems less humorous and more serious of a story. It still has all the jokes from the previous GTAs, I can't really put my finger on it, but everything in this one just seems more serious. One reviewer believes that this is GTA with a conscious, which I kind of agree with, maybe groups put pressure on Rockstar to make them show the consequences of your actions, since it seems like you're constantly being reminded that killing, drunk driving, and prostitution are bad.

The Extras: This is where I feel the game fell. Had this game been the direct sequel from GTA III, I probably would have been a lot easier on it, but VC and SA existed, and this game almost seems to have forgotten that fact. This game almost seems like a stripped version of it's predecessors. No gang wars, no gambling, no owning businesses, no car collections. Flying has almost been cut out of this game, although I can't imagine why, it was such a successful feature. Fighting on a flying plane, then para shooting out was the coolest thing ever, not to mention stealing a harrier jet from a battleship. The girlfriend thing from SA was added to, making normal friends too. This is worse, as you now have to maintain relationships with not only your gfs, but any friend you make as well. I also believe the "sex scenes" you get at the end of the date are toned down a bit. I dislike where Rockstar is going with this game, it almost as if they want to take the open part out of open game. They keep you caught up with their characters with frequent cellphone calls, rather than letting you initiate your own sidequests by setting in the right vehicle or shiny circle.

Sum it Up: So in general, this game is a worthy sequel to GTA III... as long as you pretend SA and VC did not exist. It cuts out way too much content added in the last two (what do you call them, expansion packs?). Why they felt the need to cut so much? Or did they feel they had to to make room for more graphics? If so, I would pick side missions and content over graphics any day.

One more beef that bugged me endlessly, they cut out hidden packages and replaced it with flying rats that you can shoot. That was a good idea, but the thing is, you don't get anything unless you shoot all 200, which gets you an achievement (big whoop) and a pop up for just about the only flying thing in the game (helicopter). I always depended on those items that pop up have 10, 30, 50 packages. Just knowing that if I got arrested or used up my ammo, that I always had a store at my place was great. This just bites, what horrible thing happened to Rockstar, whom created a nearly perfect game with San Andreas, feel they needed to take a chainsaw to the game and cut out all of its charm. Oh well, I hope that answers your questions and helps your decision in getting GTA 4.

Honest reviews on Grand Theft Auto IV - Xbox 360 (Standard Edition)

I can't understand how nearly every mainstream gaming critics showered GTA IV with perfect 10 reviews. While it is a huge, well written, well produced game, it's small flaws outshine everything else.

-The game ultimately fails because of its archaic health and checkpoint system. Health can only be regained by eating food but food can only be found at one of the handful of restaurants and hot dog stands (the latter of which aren't even shown on the map). Body armor, which doubles your health, is also only found at one of the three gun shops in Liberty City. This wouldn't be too bad if your health didn't deplete so fast. Enemies can deplete most of your health in a few shots. As for a checkpoint system, the game has almost none. If you make one mistake and get shot at the very end of a mission, you have to start all over again.

-Simply walking around is a pain. You're constantly fighting the camera as it tries to reposition itself, instead of floating freely for you to control. As a result, navigating close quarters, like a building, can be daunting. Move to fast and you're likely to miss seeing an enemy who can take down half your health in a few rounds.

-The voice acting is solid and well written as promised but the story simple takes too long. It takes hours just to figure out what Niko is doing there! And for all the talk of an excellent story, 90% of the time it's just different ways of saying "Go here, kill him." Also the first two hours are taxi cab missions.

-The story requires you to date. Yes, as in, pick up a girl at a certain time, drive her to a bowling alley, play 10 frames, and return her on time. Where does this have anything to do with Grand Theft Auto?

-Grenades sucks. Unless you're in a wide open space, free of any boxes or curbs, your grenades will constantly fly off course. If there are any obstructions too close when you toss it, there's almost a 50/50 chance it will land right at your feet (I was almost to the end of the VERY LAST mission when I tossed a grenade. Without any kind of grenade indicator, it exploded from under me, starting me back over without any of the ammo or body armor I started the mission with).

-Finally, the game itself just takes too long. I was almost 5 hours in before I even got a machine gun. I didn't unlock the RPG until the last few hours of play.

If I were you, rent GTA IV, plug in all the cheat codes, and spend a week going on a rampage. The rest of the game ultimately isn't worth the frustration.

GTA 4's story centers around a sarcastic Eastern European immigrant come to America to get a fresh start away from the corruption and violence of his home country. Whoops. Critics have often harangued the violence and the criminal aspect of GTA, but what flies over their heads is that satire is the premise of the series and always has been. And frankly, the violence here pales in comparison to Gears Of War or Condemned 2: Bloodshot just to name two. GTA's immense popularity is not because of the degeneration of our society (we've got reality television for that), it's because the series is constantly innovating and offering fun spot-on gameplay, brilliant humor, and is a game made by and for an adult audience. So if your child is playing this game, blame yourself for giving your child the means to get it or for not paying attention to what they are doing with their time, not Rockstar for making top-of-the-line entertainment meant for adults (see the markings on the box?).

GTA 4 seperates itself from the past iterations in several ways. First, the arcade feel is largely gone. While the controls are vintage GTA, the overall feel has changed. In previous games, I never got into the story because I would get sidetracked rampaging with katanas and molotov cocktails or hunting for a tank. Now a lot of the distractions like crazy weapons and vehicles and building up your character stats are gone and the story behind the madness is a truly engaging one for the first time. The city is more alive than ever and there is more to do. The characters you meet are all brilliant and interacting with them is seriously fun. Take your girl out to a bar and watch her serious issues surface as she stumbles around slurring curses about "that fu#*ing whore" she thought you were checking out. Or challenge your buddies to bowling, pool, or a friendly game of darts. You ca even head to the comedy club to check out actual routines from Ricky Gervais or Katt Williams. The dialogue during these bonding activities is varied and reveals much about your Liberty City aquaintances, many of whom have special services to offer you should you become close. The entire game is so well-written that one often gets the impression that they are playing a Tarantino flick. Oh yeah, it's that good. The multiplayer aspect is also fun and varied allowing you to battle stangers for Liberty City dominance or just drive around with your friends wreaking havoc. Taking into account the amazing single-player game this really wasn't necessary, but the fact that it is even included just makes this game that much more awesome.

Now all of that is well and good, but what makes GTA 4 the second work I'm upgrading from mere video game status to an official work of interactive fiction (the first was Mass Effect) is the sheer depth of the world in which you exist. So far I have spent multiple hours just surfing the game's internet. That's right, there is a virtual worldwide web in-game complete with dating sites, a Craig's List parody, advertisements, personal blogs complete with flame wars, email, and much more. Hell, you can even download custom ringtones and themes for your cell phone! That is nuts. Do you know how ridiculous it feels to spend that amount of time in a video game surfing a fake internet? There are also several satirical television shows you can watch in your apartment (go Republican Space Rangers!), and naturally there's the radio; the sweet, sweet, sounds of GTA radio stations. There's a rock station featuring Iggy freakin' Pop as the foul-mouthed DJ, classic hip-hop and R&B, smooth jazz, techno, LCHC (Liberty City HardCore), and even an all Bob Marley station just to name a few. Then there's the thinly-veiled talk radio parody station Weazel News featuring the funniest Rush Limbaugh impersonator you're ever likely to hear. You even hear news reports about incidents you were personally involved in as you drive. This game is DEEP.

Honestly, if you like video games or digital entertainment of any kind then this as good as it gets. And if you don't like those things, do your best to hide your ignorance and don't go spouting off about things you don't know anything about. GTA 4 is a brilliant satire full of jabs (and a few haymakers) at American politics and any violence is incidental in comparison to the brilliantly crafted story and interactivity of the in-game world that Rockstar has created. I'll say it again: this is not just a video game, this is interactive fiction on par with some of the great works of modern storytelling. If you own a video game system and you think you can handle some naughty language without getting all hysterical, buy it. It's that simple.

In the XBox version of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe movie, the game mixes in video footage from the movie with action game fighting, coin collecting and obstacle climbing.

If you've played a platformer/adventure game before, you have a fair idea of what's involved here. You bash random objects to see if coins or special tokens emerge. You climb up trees. You kill random enemies that come at you. You get to checkpoint at spots along your path, in case death visits you. At the end of each level, you get your coins and tokens tallied up, and get a rating of how well you did.

You have an incentive to gather as much as you go the more coins you get, the more special abilities you unlock. Those skills really help you as you get into the more challenging areas of the game.

Since you have the four main characters from the book and movie, each character has his or her own special abilities. You often have to switch from character to character to get past an area having the young Lucy climb up onto objects, having the stronger Peter bash at doors or wolves. There are even combo moves where two characters interact together in order to solve a problem.

The graphics are reasonably good for the XBox platform. There are many transitions between the video cinematics and the in-game graphics which really help to ensure you feel a part of the story. If you want quick gaming, you might get frustrated there is a lot of movie to sit through, to build the atmosphere for you. However, if you really enjoy the storyline, you'll be thrilled. You get a lot of the background and interaction to give you meaning for what you're doing.

Some of the gameplay is a little more annoying than it should be. There are missions where you have to figure out a timed path. There isn't any real rhyme or reason to the path you just keep trying paths and failing until by default you end up with the correct one. Ditto to the "find the [insert object name here]" kinds of missions.

Also, the camera is *really* annoying. There are many spots where you want to turn around and examine the area, but you can't. In the modern world of gaming, there's really no reason for a fixed camera angle.

Still, for people who love the movie, this is a great, fun way to get involved in the movie storyline. There is fighting, but it's a mild style of wolf-bashing type of combat.

Well recommended.

This game is a lot of fun. With its thousands of cards and numerous computer players this game allows for very complex and interesting card-play. There are a few bugs. For one it sometimes takes the computer player an unusually long time to make a move. I have literally seen it go two minutes only to end its turn without doing anything. The second bug is that sometimes a secondary effect won't activate. I have seen this with two cards. The first was Scrap Iron Scarecrow where after it activated it went to the graveyard instead of turning back face down. The second was with Stardust Dragon where I had activated its effect but at the end of the turn it didn't give me the option to special summon it back from the graveyard.

Best Deals for Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tag Force 5 - Sony PSP

I think tag force is brilliant It dose surprise me that you cant use monster reborn but its in the game. Otherwise the graphics are dead on and the game play is something to behold. I like how the first code that I put in worked right away. Though I did have to down load from the net in order to get the latest installment. So thumbs up for tag battle and the tournament play. Over all a great game.

Honest reviews on Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tag Force 5 - Sony PSP

Heres my breakdown of Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force 5:

Pros:

Cards, Cards, and more Cards!!!!

This game definitely doesn't slouch on the cards. The list ranges from Yu-Gi-Oh!'s roots (think Dark Magicians and Blue Eyes White Dragons) to the very new cards from the 5D's anime as well. My favorite part is that it features several anime exclusive cards. For example, the Machine Emperor cards are made up of 5 pieces like in the anime rather than the one card they are in real life. The game also features the Dark Synchros and Dark Tuners that the Dark Signers used in the 5D's anime. This game actually makes me question buying cards anymore since there are sooo many in the game. Bottom line is that you can build almost any kind of deck you want...which leads me to my next point...

Deck Building System

I thought the Deck Edit system was really well done. It allows you to easily search for cards as well as support cards for the archtype you're building for. Finding cards for the deck you want is pretty easy as well. The game makes finding cards incredibly easy, booster packs are cheap and characters will give you free cards packs after you beat their story. Like I said before, almost any kind of deck is possible in this game.

Monster 3D cut-scenes:

For certain monsters, when they're summoned and when they attack, a neat little cut scene pops up and shows them in all their glory. It gives you a lot of satisfaction because some of them are difficult to summon (ex. Shooting Star Dragon, Earthbound Immortals, Machine Emperors)

Duel Interface:

It's easy to use and the game has a tutorial mode in case there is any confusion.

Cons:

Story Mode:

Ugh, where do I start. It took me awhile to figure out how to even get the story mode running. Basically, you wander around New Domino City, find a character you want to team up with. Once you've teamed up with them, you basically have to make them like you by playing minigames or giving them items. Once they like you enough (a little heart meter turns red) you can do a story mission with them (each character has 4 missions). I can't really think of a better way to make the story mode works, but this way is incredibly tedious. Filling the heart meter takes an obscenely long and thats not even the worst...

Computer AI in Tag Duels:

Every mission in the story mode revolves around tag dueling. Which ever character you teamed up with is your partner for the duel. However, no matter how good of a duelist you have (ex. Yusei, Jack Atlas, or Vizor) they are useless. Synching up decks isn't even enough to get these guys to work. Most of the time your partner will impede your strategy. This one time I was playing Lazar's story, I was teamed up with him and he could have attacked easily to win the game with the Shooting Star Dragon that I had just labored to summon. The opponent had no monsters or spells or traps...and Lazar activates a card called Gravity Bind...However, the AI is deadly when they play against you. This makes tag duels feel more like a 2 on 1.

Destiny Draw:

Honestly, when you're losing a duel badly, you can't just say "I get a Destiny Draw so that means I draw the perfect card i need for this situation and turn the entire duel around" I cannot tell you how many times that I am a turn away from beating my AI opponent but then the game gives them a destiny draw which ends up screwing you over...and then they win. You can get Destiny Draws yourself...but I could do without the system in general because it robs people of wins based on some BS little game mechanic.

Glitches:

Cards like Call of the haunted and Limit Reverse stick around even after the monster they brough back is destroyed. Often the computer will destroy these cards instead of your much more dangerous face downs...doesn't make sense to me.

Score: 4/5

It's a great game. I just being able to pick up my PSP and play against all different kinds of decks and even my favorite characters from the show. This game is a must for any Yu-Gi-Oh! player, it's very helpful for testing out new strategies. I do admit I put a lot of cons down but these flaws are pretty easy to look past but I will warn you...they can be frustrating.

I know Tag Force 6 has recently come out and I recommend it to everyone. If it's anything like Tag Force 5, you'll be in for a treat. Not to mention, it features even more cards.

This review is coming from a guy who after playing the demo for 6 hours still wanted more

The good:

*Campaign is big, and took about 11 hours with a fair amount of graphics ogling and exploring (to put this into perspective, I beat modern warfare 2 in about 4.5-5)

*The levels that take place directly in the heart of the city have this sandbox feel to them that I haven't felt since metal gear solid 4, you really feel like you have freedom to approach the situations as you see fit.

*Just finished my play through on the hardest difficulty. You can get through 16 of the 19 levels without firing a bullet if you're stealthy enough, and the other 3 only have one required firefight in each. Very impressive for an fps.

*Slipping in and out of cloak for stealth kills on the humans is badass, especially when they are aware something is wrong

*TONS of weapon and suit customization, you wont get all of it in one play through.

*Graphics(HD tv, probably the best I've seen all year)

*The musical score is absolutely amazing, Hans Zimmer working on this project is just awesome

*Didn't know this, but apparently it supports 3d, for the 8 of you out there who that applies to

The Bad:

*Multiplayer matchmaking is still kind of wonky

*Complaints from the demo are still present(Stealth kill animations don't work right occasionally, host migration sometimes fails and ends the match, etc)

* As usual the writing suffers at a few points, but show me a game that doesn't

I would put it as a contender for game of the year, but with Skyrim, mass effect 3, Arkham ciy, uncharted, portal 2, La noire, witcher 2 and sooooo many other high profile games to come, crysis 2 sets the bar high, very high, for this years video game entertainment along with the likes of killzone 3 and dead space 2. 2011 is off to a great start but Crysis 2 is definitely leading the way.

I got Homefront and Crysis 2 on the same day but I'll leave my Homefront review for another day because since Crysis 2 went into my 360 it hasn't left it.

Graphically really nothing comes close to Crysis 2. Now let me clarify that statement from the angle from a retired video game programmer : there are other games currently available such as Halo Reach or Mass Effect 2 which do seem to offer equivalent next gen visuals but they're fudging a lot of what you see. In many cases the lighting may not be dynamic or the reflections aren't really true, the game engine instead falls back on pre-rendered shadow maps and refmaps to use the geeky jargon. The Crysis 3 engine does it all and seemingly for real. A good example would be at the beginning of the game I came across a blue flashlight just laying around. I thought it was important and picked it up thinking it would come in handy later. But no, it's just there to show off the realtime shadows that EVERYTHING in the environment casts. It was toy the devs put there for you to play around with. And your onscreen character also casts shadows everywhere not just where the programmers thought it would look cool in the level.

But graphically there's so much more the water effects, the smoke, the mist, the ultra realistic fire, the in-game rendered cut scenes and of course the massive NY buildings are all a step above what any other game offers. I could ramble all day about the visuals but really you should download the multi-player demo to get a tiny taste of it.

Of course, visuals alone do not a good game make, and the gameplay has to be equally as good. Thankfully Crytek learned from their other 360 outing (FarCry) which was rather lacking in the things-to-do department, and with Crysis 2 they added a slew of entertaining ways and unique tools to approach any situation. Sure, what we have here is a glorified corridor shooter where your direction is preset due to the commands barked at you from a static intercom. But most of the action is in huge open areas with distinct hints depending on your choice of play want to stealth it out and take out the bad guys silently? No problem. Want to go in guns blazing? Again that's no problem. Want to do a bit of both, heck that's covered too. I never felt rushed even on levels that were applying pressure to get to the end and I completed the missions at my own pace. The tension is real, caused by the intense on-screen action, and not because of some fake clock timing down in the corner of the screen. This game deserves to be savored at your leisure and let's you do so.

I really don't have anything negative to say about the single player campaign even though the game has a couple of my ultimate pet hates. One, you will lose all of your weapons and powers at some point and there's nothing you can do about it and two, boss battles. Boss battles can destroy a game for me turning what could be a fun experience into an exercise in repetitively learning the correct way to kill the boss but not here. It all felt flowing and natural and not forced or repetitive.

I completed single player on the easiest setting in 9 hours and 45 minutes. It felt long and these days that's a good thing. I immediately started a new campaign from the beginning on the hardest setting. I want to get some of the collectibles that I missed but also relive the game's finer moments. You can tell it's a good game when despite needing sleep you decide to do one more mission.

Multiplayer is where I'm holding off. It can take weeks, months sometimes to get enough experience in an MP game such as this to decide just how really good it is. Frankly I consider MP to be a bonus and would easily have paid the full price for the SP alone.

If you read my other game reviews you'll see I'm quite harsh on games. It's rare, although not unprecedented, that I consider a game worthy of all stars. This is one and it should be in your game collection immediately.

Best Deals for Crysis 2 - Xbox 360

I had been playing Halo Reach and Black Ops since release and got burned out on them so I switched over to Crysis 2. I have had the game for a couple weeks now and I have really enjoyed the game. In my Opinion the Campaign is much better than Black Ops and if there was an inclusion of Coop it would have been on Par with Reach. Multiplayer is also fun but for me is slightly behind both Reach and Black Ops for multiplayer.

Maybe as I progress through the multi more it will get better. And one thing it does MUCH better than Black Ops is pairing you up with opponents that are at an equal playing level to yourself. In Black Ops you were almost always completely over matched or completely dominating. There was no middle road in the matchmaking and Crysis does a GREAT job with this.

The Campaign has an AWESOME open fell to the levels and the aspect of the Nanosuit are great for gameplay. The storyline is also very well written and played out. The campaign also does a great job with the difficulty levels in the campaign allows new FPS players to get there feet wet but also making the very difficult for experienced FPS players.

The best part of the game in the GRAPHICS, they are INCREDIBLE!! The Cry Engine from game one (Far Cry) has been spectacular and the new CryEngine3 is the absolute best yet.

Pros:

Campaign

Graphics

Matchmaking in Multiplayer

Nanosuit

Cons:

Multiplayer as whole not as good as COD or Reach

A few bugs in the game but will be fixed soon!

Lack of Coop in campaign (single person story line i know but inclusion of another twist with Coop would have been AWESOME!!!)

Honest reviews on Crysis 2 - Xbox 360

this was a day one buy for me. i was fairly confident from my research into this game and my time playing and watching the demo, that this was going to be something special...understatement...

since i had played the demo and no other previous crysis games, i decided to engulf myself in the campaign. i watched my buddy play multiplayer a bit. it looked like it had a few changes. otherwise i've only experimented with the customization a bit. so let me just get to the good stuff..

graphics-10/10 this is the most beautiful game i've ever seen on the 360. it is amazing! installed on my old school jasper xbox it runs with no issues. fast, beautiful, nutts...and i don't own a flatscreen tv either. this game has 3d options, which i think would be even more gorgeous.

gameplay-9.7/10 controls are very solid. one of the complaints that you might get is that you have to double tap y for grenades. but come on! this game utilizes the back button for multiple things!? yes, the back button. so the controls take some getting use to, but are very solid like i said. it more about honing your skill as this super ninja, then the controls...and when i mean honing your skills; it looks like the more you kill and through the different difficulties your suit abilities stack. not for sure but it looks like it. also i'd recommend trying out tactics in campaign, because most of the suit abilities that are in multiplayer. (also try all the guns..try all the guns while on the move..etc)

story(campaign)-9.5/10 i promise, no spoilers.. i thought the story was pretty good. everything together with the story is awesome. but i can't compare to the other crysis games because i haven't played them. i watched all the cut scenes on my first playthrough and i thought it great.

music-10/10 hanz zimmmer did an amazing job with his music for this game. i tried listening to my own music while playing, but it didn't feel the same. the zimmer music is amazing with the game. like i said, overall as one package its well done.

multiplayer9.0/10 i believe theres 12 maps and 4 game modes. 6 vs 6. amazing and fast paced. to me it felt more like battlefield than cod. some halo. i felt i really needed to us this pimped out ninja suit to my advantage. situational classes. lol. (i'm a geek) controls are similar to campaign, same for abilities. you have 3 stats; strength, speed, stealth. by using those you can gain abilities from there tree of "perks". the customization is pretty indepth. not black ops, but doesn't fall too much short of that. from the abilities and guns that i've tried i really think they did a good job of balancing things. considering that everyone has a nanosuit... just like cod by using abilities they can get better and theres all these other "assessments" that are similar to cods challenges. multiplayer really take some insight into your strengths and weaknesses to figure out what your good at. like i said, use single player to figure that out.

overall this is well worth the 60 bucks. multiple playthroughs for sheer awesome-ness and collectibles, furious multiplayer, and an overall very well done and polished product. i said to my friends this was going to be my filler till BRINK came. well....i feel silly for calling something as amazing as this filler...buy it. trust me on this one...

Crysis 2 reminded me heavily of Avatar. The two are dissimilar in almost every way except the one that matters most. In both I was left feeling like despite the amazing visuals, neither connected with me because everything contained within them felt contrived and unbelievable. I could not relate to anyone or anything going on because it was all so one-dimensional.

How could you relate to the events of the game, it's about an alien invasion, right? Well, yes. But that isn't the issue. The real problem with the game is that things happen that are so illogical you can't even suspend your disbelief to enjoy the game, even as fun popcorn schlock.

So I'm just going to say it: I don't know what the big deal is about the graphics.Obviously this aspect is a lot more important to some people than it is to me. But to me, graphics in video games are much the same as looks are when evaluating attraction in another person. Good looks aren't everything, but they aren't nothing either. However the greatest looks in history don't stop some people from being rotten and horrible people. The same is true for good graphics. They aren't nothing, but if it is all you have, you don't have very much. Not to me, anyways. I have an HDTV and I was underwhelmed by he graphics. Probably because it is common now. Metal Gear Solid 4 probably still has the best graphics I personally have ever seen, and that is just my objective opinion. But my point is, you can't just make things shiny and smooth and have that make it a great game. That's not how it works. I suppose that might be the easiest way to appeal to the most people, but for people like me, who appreciate even decent storytelling, I just spend the game looking at the plot inconsistencies instead of immersed in the action.

With such high production quality focused on the detail of the game environment, it is very unfortunate that seemingly so little attention was paid to the fluidity and cohesion of the story -what little of that there is. The whole game you are ordered around like a mindless grunt. Crysis 2 also uses one of my least favorite game techniques, and that is playing a main character that never speaks. I assume this is so that the player can imagine the character having whatever voice they want. But to me, it just gets irritating, especially when another character calls you over the radio and asks you a question, and then continues talking even though you have not made any indication that you can hear them. Voiceless main characters should be used in RPG's only, if it must be done at all, because typically in an RPG there are multiple variables depending on how you make choices. Crysis 2 is not that. It is linear storytelling. And there is nothing wrong with that, except that your character essentially has no personality whatsoever because he never speaks and never makes decisions on his own.

The last big problem I have with the game is the AI. Crysis 2 is unique to me only in that it is an FPS stealth game. Especially on the hardest difficulty, you really can't have an out-and-out firefight with enemies, you die after just a few hits. So what that means is you will spend a good portion of the game cloaked. Which is actually interesting to me. However, being cloaked from enemies and having to sneak by them is only tenuous when the AI is decent enough to detect you. And they aren't in Crysis 2. I played the game the second time through on the hardest difficulty, and it is actually really boring. I spent most of the game cloaked, and the rest of the times were "boss" battles where you have to fight in order to progress to the next area. Considering that cloaking is one of the two main abilities of the Nano-Suit, the developers really didn't make it very exciting to be cloaked.

I really cannot talk about what plot inconsistencies there are because they involve spoilers in the game. But they are there, if you pay attention.

However, I couldn't do a fair review without also talking a bit about what Crysis 2 did well. The levels are big, and there is quite a bit to explore if you have the inclination. Weapon models are good, and the graphics are very well done. The game is also very smooth, considering the on-screen action, explosions, and everything else. It is also a fairly lengthy game, considering that it's a shooter.

In the end, I felt Crysis 2 was a game I could have lived my whole life without playing and I would not be sad to have missed it. I am glad that there seems to be a highly positive response to the game, but I just cannot agree with it because of so many blatant problems in the final product. If you enjoy good shooters regardless of plot, or if you like good multi-player FPS games, buy this, it is definitely for you. But if you're looking for something with any sort of complexity or originality, look elsewhere.

You may have read other reviews about the Nvidia Shield before making it here to mine. What you'll see other reviewer's saying is that the Nvidia Shield is a nitch item. I'd have to agree with this claim. Its primarily a device to play your PC games on, and you have to own a lot of high-end hardware to use it properly. Let's talk about the requirements and about how it performs outside of the requirements.

So the Shield requires a modern gaming PC with at least a GTX 650 Video Card. If you have a lower 6 series or a 5/4 series, this will not work for you. And even if you have the bare minimum GTX 650, keep in mind that this card is not powerful enough to run many modern games on maxed out settings. So this will have an impact on how things look on the Shield (from a quality perspective). I am personally using a 4 GB GDDR5 GTX 680 in my rig, so keep in mind that what I'm saying is based on my experiences with that card. So having a very powerful PC is one half of the Shield equation. The other half is having a very high-end robust network. Nvidia recommends that you use a dual-band router capable of 5 Ghz. They also have a list of routers that are directly supported for PC Game Streaming (of which the Apple Airport Express 2nd Gen is the cheapest). I have personally tested the shield on several routers. It is possible to stream your PC games over a 2.4 Ghz frequency. However, there are a lot of considerations that will impact that sort of performance. If you live out in the middle of nowhere with no other nearby networks and paper-thin walls, then 2.4 Ghz may be enough for you. For me, I experienced about a 30 foot radius from my router where 2.4 Ghz was doable. Going farther way than that disconnected my session. I also get a noticeable amount of artifacting on the Shield's screen when streaming over 2.4 Ghz.

So the short answer is that it may be possible to use the Shield for PC gaming without a 5 Ghz router. Just realize that you'll be taking a risk if you buy it without the right kind of network to back it up. For me performance over 5 Ghz has been flawless. I'm using a Western Digital My Net N900 Router and I haven't had a single issue (other than range). 5 Ghz has a much lower range compared to 2.4 Ghz, so keep in mind that you may have to install repeaters or access points in your house to maintain game-level performance in all areas of the house.

So as far as PC Streaming goes, the question will be whether it is worth it. There is also not a direct answer to this. There are some unofficial things that you can do with the Shield such as connecting it to a VPN for gaming outside of your network. Nvidia is also working on adding functionality to play any PC game on the Shield. Right now the Shield only supports games that have included controller support. They will be adding the option to use programs like Xpadder or Pinnacle Game Profiler so that you can setup any game to work on the Shield's controller. So depending on your existing game library or your budget for buying games, this may be a serious thing to think about (The Shield's only good if you can play your favorite stuff on it, right?). When you do have the correct equipment, playing PC games on the Shield is amazing! I love having the ability to take my PC gaming to any room of the house (we just converted our garage to a lounge for my wife, and now I can sit there and play games with her). The controls feel solid, the sound is amazing, and the built-in microphone allows you to chat with people while you play. So if you're someone that already has the computer hardware and network to use the Shield, this may be an easier question to answer. However, if your computer is not up to spec, or if your network is not fast enough, then this becomes a deeper question. It takes a considerable investment to have the hardware to play PC games on the Shield. You'll have to REALLY want to play games on the Shield to spend the average $750 that it costs to get a computer and network upgraded to use it. For me it was definitely worth it, but I already had the computer and network to use the Shield, so my only cost was the $299 that the Shield goes for. I also already have 60+ games in my Steam Library that have built-in controller support. That's a pretty good launch list of titles.

So with the PC part clarified, let's talk about the other stuff that the Shield can do. One of the big things right off the bat is the ability to play emulators on it. I've personally played N64, PSX, SNES, NES, GBA, and Genesis on mine. This has been a really awesome experience. One cool thing that you may not know about the Shield is that the micro-usb port on the back can do a lot of stuff. I plugged in a micro-to-usb adapter and then connected a 4-port usb hub. I have 2 PS3 controllers, a wireless 360 controller, and a USB SNES gamepad all plugged in at the same time. And yes, they all show up as separate controllers for split screen gaming. And I finish this off by plugging my Shield via mini-HDMI to HDMI to my TV. It's like playing the original consoles, but better! Everything is very smooth and the graphics look great on the big screen. You can map the controls individually to each controller. So that's pretty awesome.

The third side of the Shield is the Android part. For me, this is probably the most disappointing side of the Shield. It's not that the Shield doesn't have the power to play any Android game out there, its that hardly anything supports the Shield's controller. There are a select group of "enhanced" titles in the Shield store, but many core titles are not available. One big thing that is missing is support for the majority of Gameloft's games. Certain titles sort of work like Modern Combat 4 and NOVA 3, but not all controls work. The only Gameloft title to date that works flawlessly with the Shield's controller is Asphalt 8. So Android gaming tends to be a bit underwhelming. Hopefully this will be something that gets dramatically better as developers become more aware of the Shield, but as of now there isn't much there for it.

So as a standalone device, the only really good thing about the Shield is emulators. There are several people on the Nvidia forums that bought it strictly as an emulator device. If you're looking at it as the next big Android platform, that's not happening as of yet.

Anyway, hopefully that gives you a bit of information to go off of. Feel free to ask me any questions that you may have about the Shield. I'll do my best to answer them for you.

4.5/5 and worth its purchase price all day long. The RETAIL purchase price, not the inflated price asked by these resellers.

The Shield is an emulation powerhouse and is the best device on the market today for playing classic games either on the go or connected to a TV. Pandora and the Xperia Play deserve honorable mention and the XP fills its niche as a much smaller device.

Build quality is apparently excellent and the unit is very solid. I don't love the small size of the screen relative to the bezel size, it looks a bit silly and is wasted real estate. I can't help but envy the Archos Gamepad and Wikipad for the larger screens on some level, even if they are using inferior hardware. The unit is also heavy but manageable at roughly 20 ounces, which is up is about twice a PS Vita or 3 times more than an Xperia Play. The speakers are very loud and reasonably clear, but I find it lacks low end. There is also no physical menu button which is a huge problem for some programs, like making it impossible to save in ScummVM. I also find the R1 and L1 buttons to be uncomfortably small. But I'm nitpicking; the Shield is a very cool device for anyone and a marvelous device for emulation enthusiasts. This must trump the Pandora as the ultimate handheld emulation console. If you love Retroarch on your phone then you'll love it even more on the Shield.

I haven't been able to test PC streaming because I have an ATI card in my gaming rig, but the reports are positive and improvements in the beat streaming program are forthcoming.

Pros: high build quality

High quality screen with excellent viewing angles

Emulation powerhouse. Get Retroarch and a few other emulators and you're good to go.

Strong hinge

Really nice analogs

Controls are comfortable but not PS3/Xbox360 comfortable. 8/10 I'd say. Everything's a compromise.

Fair price for the hardware

Just about the most powerful Android device you can buy today

Stock Android Jellybean unencumbered by bloatware. Thanks Nvidia.

Speakers are very loud and surprisingly clear but lack a satisfying low end for all their volume. Can pass for a boom box in a pinch.

Battery life so far seems very good.

Cons: Styling is not for me. Alienware-alike. The stock grey "shield" insert is very gaudy to me, it should of been matte black. Or even just have a Nvidia logo on it. It just looks bizarre, plain and out of place.

Only 780p video output through the HDMI, this will supposedly be upgraded through firmware in the future. Still..

L1 and R1 buttons are lousy, being too small and too awkward to access. Ugh.

Button travel on the ABXY buttons is excessive imo.

Heavy

No menu button

Screen could and should be larger. Bezel is huge for a modern device. For something this bulky, which will never fit in a normal pocket, it seems like you may as well have a 7 inch screen. 5 inches is lacking.

Uses the less popular and less affordable mini HDMI for no reason, instead of the better micro HDMI that all phones use

Non user replaceable batteries.

Packaging is needlessly flashy and probably expensive. In a day of asinine unboxing videos I guess it matters, but I'd rather of had an included mini HDMI cable for that expense.

Nvidia is a good company. I learned that they recently gave several Shields to the open-source Libretro project, and that earned them alot of my respect.

Some will compare this to the Vita or 3DS and call it expensive. Consider that the Vita outdoes the 3DS spec wise, while the shield is 4 times faster than the Vita IIRC and has 4 times the ram with a better screen and most importantly it runs ANDROID, an OPEN operating system. It's your device, not Sony's or Nintendo's. You decide what goes on it and what it can do. You do not lived in a walled garden. I would never, ever buy a 3DS or PS Vita while the Sony Xperia Play is only about $50 used and the amazing new Shield is so reasonable.

Buy buy buy. Totally awesome pice of kit.

I look forward to an updated model with a larger screen, light weight, and maybe a menu button for legacy software and forcing the keyboard to come up, a function I deeply miss.

Edit: hinge has gone noisy...

The Excellent:

Hardware: tough like a tank

Battery: iPadish = lasts forever

Controls: Tight and well made

This thing is awesome and does everything and more that I ever wanted to do. Nice choice running vanilla Android OS 4.3...

Streaming: I have a GTX 780 so it may be different with lower end cards, but WOW!! No detectable lag streaming high end games like Skyrim, Borderlands 2, etc... Any Steam game that supports a controller rocks on this thing. If you've not looked at streaming capability on shield since it was in beta, now that it is live, it really is nice.

Size: many people put this in the negative side, but it has full size controls which is a dream when actually using the Shield.

neutral: I thought I was going to hate the recessed analog controls, but I don't hate them. They are fine, don't bother me in the slightest. Actually, after playing shield, it makes my Xbox 360 controller analog sticks feel too high LOL!!

The I wish was different parts:

-Screen-resolution is fine, but wish it was slightly bigger like 7"

-Size: it is big, so not as portable, but I've listed this as a good thing too

-weight: well it is heavy, but not been an issue, I'll gladly take the weight for the massive battery life it has.

-wish the screen disconnected or tethered from the body somehow, but that would make it more complex and less tough, so not sure I'd give that up to be able to remove the screen.

In whole, I am blown away by the shield. It is far and away the best handheld console on the market today. Easy enough for anyone to enjoy, and has all the open capabilities any gadgeteer would drool over. Also Tegra4 = awesome!!

BTW: you can even connect Bluetooth controllers to it, hook to a TV with HDMI and use it like a gaming console for Steam or any game.. !!!!!!!

Looking forward: Nvidia as promised is hammering out the updates on the shield and making it better and better every couple of weeks or so..

Honest reviews on NVIDIA SHIELD 16GB

I bought an Nvidia Shield. As a confirmed Apple Geek I'm probably not the intended market for this, especially considering I don't own a PC for game streaming and don't intend to. But as a handheld gaming system its great!

The controls are accurate and solid, the battery life superb, the screen is bright and clear, the pack in games are great, my Antutu benchmark is 38.000!

And its a "Vanilla Android" experience. There is no re-screened interface like Samsung, and others do. And constant and reliable updates from Nvidia. No wondering when YOU will get the next system update, unlike most non Nexus Android phones.

Its no replacement for a tablet, it is more than capable of tablet functions, but ergonomically its pure gaming. Fast with solid wireless and bluetooth.

I use this device primarily to play roms, and images from my library of Imported Japanese PS1 games, and I'm very happy I bought it. I don't think anyone else can touch it. I'd been looking for quite a while at nameless, non brand Chinese "gamepads" that had weak hardware and flimsy controls, and was about to give in and try one when this came along.

"Edited to remove complaints about the former price gouging"

Four months later, its still going strong, updates have only improved it, and with its new gamepad mapper software, many games that didn't have controller support now do. PewPew with dual joysticks is great! I still suggest it 100%, no regrets at all.

... and I've had a few. Over the years, I have owned the Gameboy, Gameboy color, Gameboy advance, DS, 3DS, PSP, PS Vita, and the Caanoo. The only game console that ever came close to the enjoyment I received from this was the Caanoo.

I knew what I was getting into before I bought the product. Although the streaming play was something I had no problem setting up (I meet all the requirements and then some) I had no real interest in that. They say that streaming play is the major selling point of this device... okay, I understand the draw of streaming play, but they really need to recheck their demographic. Of course, I guess that can't just say "emulation powerhouse."

Yes, yes, I know playing old Nintendo games is dull. Except it isn't. Aside from the nostalgia factor, many of those older games have more gameplay packed in one level than some modern games do. "But, you can buy a PS Vita and emulate!" Yes, sure you can, or you can buy a system that is unlocked already and use the emulators that are right there in the play store. "Why not just get a cheap laptop?" Why would I want to carry around a laptop and controller everywhere I go? I tend to be on the road a lot I need something to enjoy along the way (not while driving of course I might wind up running someone over again.)

If you can imagine the catalog of Nintendo games that one can carry in a very small space, you've got enough gameplay to last a lifetime (or until your battery runs out.) We're talking approximately 759 games released in the U.S. alone. Granted, you'd probably not play half of those, but if you've got some favorites, go for it.

That's not counting SNES and all the wonderful games on that, N64 (although emulation offerings for that didn't really float my boat), Gameboy / Color / Advance, Nintendo DS, PlayStation, PSP, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, etc... That's a huge library of games on one little device that you can take anywhere. Throw in some movies, some android games, etc... and you're doing pretty good.

Speaking of android games, although I didn't get this for android games, many of the games in the shield store are actually quite good. Some are definitely handheld good (as in something released on PS Vita or 3DS,) and some are almost console good. Yes, there's a small library, but if you're buying this just for android gaming, maybe you're in a demographic that even I can't relate to.

Anyway, what this system does it does very well, and I can honestly say it is the most powerful tablet I've ever owned. I have seen no slowdown whatsoever on even some of my more demanding emulated titles (PSP and DS for instance), and have seen none on games I've seen slow down considerably even on other tegra tablets. The system is clean when you get it, coming without all the crapware that most tablets come with. It has a great battery life. A lot of people complain about heaviness, but I haven't really noticed. It is also very self-supporting, and feels solid when using its base as a stand for media. I have had no problems with it whatsoever, and everything has been easy.

For those who ARE interested in streaming, I've been getting 60fps on my games consistently since NVidia's latest update. And they have been updating it quite regularly.
