A younger family member got this game a couple days ago. I figured it would be nice to try it out since I like the cartoon and the fact the game has a co-operative option. My nephew thought it was better than all of the better past gen beat em ups (Final Fight, Streets of Rage), but I thought this game was a TOTAL bore.

*This review is based on a two level playthrough*

Graphics weren't necessarily bad, but they were a little dull. Things were crisp and smooth looking, but I felt like the game could've had more visually happening on screen than it did. For example, when you used superpowers as one of the omnitrix creatures, there wasn't really anything overly flashy done on-screen.

Some of the pluses. It's nice that you could unlock new combos and moves as you progress. In addition, it was also a cool feature that a second player could drop in and out of the game at any point in time(which I did a lot in disgust as I played). You can also unlock other things like concept art as well being able to transform into some of the omnitrix monsters.

Unfortunately, the gameplay isn't a saving grace. In beat em up games, I like to be able to both hear and feel the power behind every hit I deal to somebody, but in this game, that facet isn't there. You just constantly wail and wail and wail on an enemy and as you do it, there's no real feedback from what you're doing. There's no "oof!" sounds or overly done punching noises that engage you in the fight and drive you to want to beat up more baddies. Instead, all they have are these barely audible sounds that resemble sounds of rain hitting windows.

Also, you can pull off "combos" in this game, but that's not to interesting or challenging to do either. It's just circle, circle, circle, circlex5(8 hit combo!) but there's nothing remarkable happening on-screen. All you see is your character constantly doing the same punch or kick animation until the baddie dies; they don't block (which they can do), or reverse what you're doing, but instead just sit there and take EVERY punch. Gosh, I think I had a 25 hit combo at one point, but I just didn't CARE.

Fighting with the omnitrix monsters isn't to exciting either. It's easy enough to transform, but when you do, it's really underwhelming. Like, you can do superpowers and everything with them, but it doesn't seem like what you do as an omnitrix monster is any more effective than Ben in his normal form. You're just wailing and wailing and wailing and wailing and wailing with superpowers and punches until these guys FINALLY decide to drop down.

One other annoying thing is the odd warping. It just feels so sudden and weird when you're both playing and you both keep warping all over the place as you approach new areas.

Enemy types seem a little limited to. I would assume there will be more types of enemies further in the game, but the first two levels had all of the same types: FREAKING NINJAS. Some might've had nunchucks and some might've had swords, but it was ALL I SAW. Geez, I was more annoyed than excited every time these ninjas appeared to fight with me. It was like, " I finally dropped them all!^_^" (more spawn) "ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh arghhhhhhhhh!"

The game is unbelievably easy to. I was playing it on the hardest difficulty and the game was a stinking cakewalk. Practically every area you enter has loads of health and dying isn't even a problem in the least. Gosh, I know this game is for kids and all but man, at least challenge these kids a LITTLE!

That's it! This game should've been released as one of those free games on the CN website to promote the show; it just has that "waste a couple minutes playing this game at your job to pass some time" feel.

Ugh...I gave this game 2 stars simply not because it's broken, but mainly because it's soooo unfun. It's unfortunate all the better beat em ups on the PS2 are a little to mature for a younger audience, but please....do not buy your kids this trash.

Personally its 0 stars, but my 7 year old son likes it so its a 3. The game lacks polish and has bugs. Every time aliens show up the screen jerks and recenters. Occasional bugs put the player inside solid objects. On one level the screen blacks out.

My son just likes anything Ben 10 and doesnt seem to mind the poor quality of this game. I recommend the first Ben 10 game, Protector of the Earth, but not this one.

My son is a huge Ben 10 fan. He has a whole section of play area devoted to Ben 10. We loved the first PS2 game Ben 10 and have it for both PS2 and Wii (he's beaten both many times = much replay value!)

This game was one of the biggest disappointments ever. As Steve noted (no I don't know him but he's right) this game is full of bugs and glitches. Game CRASHING glitches. How fun is that? Not.

Sadly the third one (Ben 10 Alien Force: Vilgax Attacks) does not save the franchise on PS2 either as it also has bugs (though not as severe) and is much harder than the first Ben 10 game which remains the best of the bunch.

Bottom line: For my ultimate fan this Ben 10 was a bust. Not very fun. Too easy or too hard in many places. Add in major bugs that crashed our game a couple of times and you get about two dollars trade for it at best.

Could not possibly recommend this game to anyone. Epic Fail.

Honest reviews on Ben 10 Alien Force - PlayStation 2

Ben Tennyson's back and badder than ever in his new series "Ben 10 Alien Force". Now you can live out his adventures in the new "Ben 10 Alien Force" video game !

Join Ben, Gwen, and Kevin as they head out to new places though some are familiar to the series' first season and take down some new foes in vast 3-D areas with many levels and stunning (though mostly dark) graphics. You'll encounter new creatures great and small, but as Ben, you'll take them down no problem with 5 of your favorite alien heroes: Swampfire, Big Chill, Spidermonkey, Jetray, and Humoungousaur.

This game is somewhat familiar to that of the first Ben 10 game, "Ben 10: Protector of Earth", but you're now playing new alien characters, AND Gwen and Kevin, too ! (Especially with the 2-player co-op mode.) There's also some new attacks and combo moves that you've gotta be quick on to take down the bad guys. But beating up baddies isn't enough; there are some parts in the game that require skill needed to solve puzzles and challenges in some levels. Also, use each alien form wisely, and you'll find some new secret areas with items that unlock new bonus content like artwork, cutscenes, and a special video behind the game which makes it very authentic.

So if you're a fan of "Ben 10" and "Ben 10 Alien Force", this game is rather enjoyable. And look for more new episodes of "Alien Force" real soon on Cartoon Network as well as a new movie coming this Fall !

Chrono Trigger Reviews

Chrono Trigger
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

Pros:

+A very well done storyline

+A good battle system

+Several sidequests to undertake

+Some new content to experience

+Lots of replay value

Cons:

-There's a good amount of new content but it might not be worthwhile to those who've already experienced Chrono Trigger before; likewise, there's no improvement in the visuals... this may or may not please some gamers

In 1995 Square released Chrono Trigger. A game commonly hailed as one of the greatest games of all time. In the years following it became one of the most highly sought after Super Nintendo games of all time. The game saw a rerelease on the Playstation in 2001 along with Final Fantasy IV in the Final Fantasy Chronicles package. This marks the third time Chrono Trigger has seen a release since it first debuted. The game has aged very well but some gamers may find there needs to be more of an update.

Chrono Trigger has a well known story but it never hurts to go over it for some who may not have played this gem. In the year 1000 AD, the Kingdom of Guardia has the Millennial Fair. You play as Crono, who goes to the fair and bumps into a girl named Marle. After wandering the fair with her for a while, Crono and Marle decide to check out his friend Lucca's new invention, a teleportation device. When Marle steps into the device, it reacts to her pendent and she is suddenly transported through time. Feeling somewhat responsible, Crono decides to go through time after her. What begins as a simple rescue mission turns into something so much more when you go into the distant future and see that the world has ended. Now, in an attempt to save the future, Crono and his friends will stop the apocalypse from happening. Their adventure will take them through time and they'll meet several interesting characters.

It is because of the characters and the well put together story that Chrono Trigger is so memorable. This version features a newly translated script that is much better than the original (as if the original needed a tune up).

Another aspect that makes Chrono Trigger stand the test of time is the gameplay. You'll roam the field normally until you come into contact with an enemy. Where as most RPGs have to transition from the field mode to the battle mode, Chrono Trigger instead has your characters spread out and pull out their weapons. The battle system itself utilizes the ATB battle system from Final Fantasy for some fast paced action.

Where the game truly shines, however, is its Tech system. Every character has a series of unique techniques that they can utilize. At first the system doesn't sound that interesting, but your characters can combine their techniques together to pull off double and triple techs. It helps to make battling more interesting and fun. It also assures that you'll try using every character at least once just to uncover all the double and triple techniques out there. More than that, however, it adds a lot of strategy to the game given that each characters techniques are unique to them. You may find that what makes the difference between sending a character into battle and not has to do more with their techniques than their base statistics.

There are plenty of side quests to keep you busy, and the time traveling element makes some of them more fun to partake in than others. As if that wasn't enough, the DS version also includes all the animated cutscenes from the Playstation release. If you'd prefer to enjoy the game in a completely classic way, you can turn them off if you desire. There are also a few extras added to the DS version such as new dungeons and touch screen controls. The touch screen controls themselves work fairly well, although you may still find that using the buttons and D-pad is still much easier.

Chrono Trigger is by no means a challenging game. It's also a fairly short one. At most you'll probably take twenty hours to complete it your first time through. Veterans may find themselves completing the game in less than fifteen hours. Chrono Trigger makes up for being a short game by having a lot of replay value. First there's the New Game+ feature which lets you go through the game again carrying over your techniques, items and equipment. The game also throws in multiple endings, which will encourage you to play the game again.

Musically, Chrono Trigger has one of the best soundtracks around. Some of it sounds better than the original Super Nintendo game. Many tunes will be stuck in your head for years to come, mainly because so much of it can convey so much emotion.

Graphically, however, is where Chrono Trigger can be a mixed bag. The character models and backgrounds look incredibly detailed, and in the DS port some things have been smoothed out. Artistically, Chrono Trigger will probably never fade into oblivion. On the other hand, Square-Enix released Final Fantasy IV and Dragon Quest IV earlier this year with improved graphics, bringing the games into 3D. Final Fantasy IV, in particular, showed major improvements in its presentation that made the story more emotionally gripping. It's a wonder why Square-Enix wouldn't do the same with Chrono Trigger. It would've been stunning to see some of Chrono Trigger's best moments in a new light.

The good news, however, is that Chrono Trigger hasn't had many releases, and there's so much more added than simply a new dungeon. This means even if you did play an older version of the game, there's a good berth of new content worth checking out. Whether or not it's worth forty dollars is subjective.

Chrono Trigger is a remarkable game. If you've played it before, one more go can't hurt. If you've never played it, this is the definitive version. Every RPGer should play this timeless classic at least once. Age has not slowed Chrono Trigger down one bit.

Finding Chrono Trigger for the DS was like finding a free $100 bill on the ground when you're starving for a dollar cheeseburger.

This game is an immense breath of fresh air, and is a time-tested classic RPG that delivers on every element of what a good RPG should be.

The story is intricate, the characters are colorful and inviting, the gameplay is smooth and interesting, the graphics are pleasant and crisp for the DS, and there is never a dull moment. I found myself playing Chrono Trigger with the same ferocity as reading a good book you can't put down.

The menus are customizable and easily navigated, especially with the use of the touch screen (which is optional). The battle system flows in a very traditional style, with the options of using Active Time Battle or Wait styles. The story has a multitude of endings depending on the choices you make in the game and other factors, guaranteeing even more playability past the first run-through.

This is, hands-down, the best RPG for Nintendo DS (and maybe other platforms) I have played. It has a sense of beauty and intrigue that transcends modern RPGs, and will have you playing until your hands cramp up.

It has successfully been ported from the Super Nintendo to the Playstation Entertainment System and now to the Nintendo DS with new dungeons and touch-screen capability.

A must for RPG lovers everywhere, and a great Christmas gift idea!

If you consider yourself a gamer, and have not experienced this title, you owe it too yourself to pick it up. It doesn't have to be on the DS, though I believe that version to be the definitive one.

The SNES version is the original masterpiece and I just bet you could find it here on Amazon.

The PSX (Play Station 1) version has all the extras of the DS version but loses stars for strange load times before and after battles and while opening the menus which can detract from the over all immersion of the experience.

Sound:

This is the only video game I have ever ordered the sound track for! Haunting melodies from the forests of Guardia, epic themes while rocketing through time, and a sweeping final theme you may find yourself humming for hours. The battle music is standard Final Fantasy fare, but hey, is that such a bad thing? The sound effects are witty and even though this is still midi sound you can tell a lot of thought went into putting it together.

Graphics:

This is a game for the Super Nintendo. It has sixteen-bit graphics. No particle effects, no bump/mip/or any other form of texturing, no specular lighting or bloom effects, but let me tell you... the art direction and simple, yet sometimes powerful animations of the characters convey a sense of nostalgia that's hard to come by these days.

Game play:

You won't find another Final Fantasy game like this. And I find that hard to understand. The tech system is brilliant, combining techs to create effects is sometimes a greater joy then that last 10 minute mega summons you pulled off in the last Final Fantasy game. you just can't wait to get to the next one and see whose battle strategies it will effect.

Presentation:

Highly customizable. Everything is tweakable right down to the backgrounds you look at on the text and menu screens. Battle speeds, active/wait battle gauges. Best of all the battle menus are now removed from the play field and pushed down onto the second screen so you can watch everything unfold without any clutter.

Lasting appeal:

If you grind through this epic game the first time, you'll find a feature waiting for you the next time you fire it up(and you will!!)on the menu screen called new game plus. It allows you to keep your stats and items collected from the previous game and go through for another round. Which is handy becuase beating this game at different stages of the story will give you new endings. There is a multi player mode for raising monsters(haven't had time to review this yet) and two new dungeons that seem to be placed just right for grinding out those 99 levels for each character. They also add some new story elements and a new ending.

Just go get this game...you won't regret it, and if you do, well, it makes a great christmas present for that other nerd you know with the DS....happy time traveling!!.....

Edit: I stand corrected....you will find all the extra content from the playstation version on here....as well as quite a bit more...including much much more powerful weapons and armor for each character...if you can put the time in to find it. And if that doesn't tweek an RPG enthusiasts interest, I don't know what will....

Honest reviews on Chrono Trigger

There's something to be said for nostalgia in games; the games that were awesome then might be a little formulaic and even boring now but still, that game managed to entertain for long, long periods of time back when cartridges had to be blown into to get to run and the war was either Sonic or Mario. Now with so many high-tech graphics, vast amounts of sidequests and things to do as well as multiplayer options, is it worth going through "Chrono Trigger", an old-school RPG with appropriately old-school graphics. Well if you're a DS owner, the question isn't "why would you" to "why haven't you by now?"

Story: Taking place literally across all ages, Crono and his friends Lucca, Marle and several others they encounter throughout time have to prevent a possible future from happening: that of the being Lavos and his complete destruction of the world in 1999. Together, you'll travel from the dinosaur-laden Prehistoric times to apocalyptic 2300 A.D. and hopefully stop the world from falling into ruin.

Graphics: Square Enix released a port of "Final Fantasy IV" originally for the Gameboy Advance with some spiffier, less pixelly graphics while also providing a remake of the game with more improved graphics and CG sequences for cutscenes. What does Chrono Trigger do then? The former. Not that I mind since the game's a classic either way and the art style is still as strong as ever for each era and the cutscenes made for the "Final Fantasy Chronicles" package on the Playstation are here (though rather compressed quality), it's not the most technically accomplished game but I welcome keeping the original look intact despite cries of outdatedness...as opposed to the "why can't we have the original" cries.

Sound/Music: Arguably, Square Enix's most well-known composer to work on their games is Nobuo Uematsu though they also have another musical weapon, that of Yasunori Mitsuda who also provided the soundtracks for "Chrono Cross" and "Xenogears", his 2 masterworks. His soundtrack here is just as noteworthy with several notable themes and unlike some soundtracks which work solely with the game, this is easily a soundtrack to own. Voice acting? Pssh, don't be silly.

Gameplay: Typical RPG with levelling up, new equipment, specialized attacks for certain characters though there's a couple unique features. The more popular "enemy on screen" system is here rather than random encounters and it doesn't take long to be thrown into battle so thankfully no stylish battle entrances here. Characters have unique attacks called "Techs" which can be combined with other characters for even more special attacks/benefits. The techs also can hit more than one enemy should the attack be close enough so for example, a straight fire attack by Lucca might eat one enemy but line up enough and it can nail them all. This adds a bit of strategy since a well-timed wide area attack can clear the battle arena much faster.

The usual sidequests are a-plenty here, not a single character is wasted and the story is quite engaging but is there more to see beyond just re-experiencing the game's greatness? Well it's common now but back then the concept of New Game + and multiple endings were relatively new if not brand-new and should you defeat the final boss at a certain point in the story the second time, you got to see a different ending which ranged from the interesting to hilarious. As far as new DS content, it's really just new dungeons, touch screen controls for battle (though being able to specifically click a menu page than scrolling like the original is welcome) and a handy map is good to see.

Ultimately,if you're a DS owner and you like RPG's, Chrono Trigger needs to be bought right now. I know its 10$ more than most but honestly, it beats the absurb Ebay prices. No longer an illegal download or a rare and expensive find, every DS owner can now experience the timeless game that is "Chrono Trigger".

Ever since its debut on the Super Nintendo way back in 1995, Chrono Trigger has remained one of my favorite games of all time. I had played it over again so many times that I had the game script memorized. When Chrono Trigger (CT) was announced for the DS in 2008, I rushed out to pre-order a copy. In fact, this game was the reason I bought a DS. I was in no way disappointed in my decision!

What makes Chrono Trigger great

The original game was ahead of its time (no pun intended) and groundbreaking in many ways. The graphics and music were jaw-dropping in their day, and while they have no doubt aged, there's nothing ugly about them. Toriyama's style definitely comes through, characters' expressions are clear, and tech attacks look like they would actually hurt! The music is moving and always fits the situation. The story really shines; I have not seen another RPG (or any other game for that matter) before or since that has incorporated all of the aspects of time travel the way CT has. You travel back and forth through time, from prehistory to the post-apocalypse to try to find a way to stop the inevitable evil coming to destroy the planet. Your actions in one time period have consequences, affecting an individual or even an entire town in the future. And there's never a place in the story that feels slow or seems to drag on. The characters are also unique, ranging from a robot from the future to a feisty, barefisted cavewoman, to a chivalrous knightly frog-man. Each character's magic or "tech" attacks are unique to them and can even be combined with other teammates to perform devastating (and just plain cool looking) double or even triple tech attacks. This is such a fun and cool idea and adds so much more to the battle experience and game strategy; I wonder why Square hasn't incorporated this into other games.

As others have pointed out, the game is fairly short for an RPG, especially by today's standards. On my first play through, I completed every single side quest and the DS extra content (more on that later) and still finished the game in about 26 hours. But this isn't so bad. I've found that in RPGs of the last decade, there's usually a point in the latter part of the game where I'm just ready to be done with it and that the story feels unnecessarily dragged out just for the sake of having extra hours of gameplay (I'm looking at you Final Fantasy!). But as much as I've played CT, I've never felt that way. The story moves forward and concludes at a good pace. And this game is definitely meant for replay. CT was one of the first (if not the first) games to introduce the New Game + feature. This allows you to replay the game but with all of your previous experience and items. This makes subsequent playthroughs easier and faster, and you're also able to challenge the final boss at just about any time, which allows you to unlock the game's multiple endings. The game boasts 10 different endings, ranging from just silly (Good Night) to showing the consequences of beating the game before certain storylines or time periods were concluded. There are also variations on the standard ending, ranging from small to great, depending on how you faced the final boss and what actions you took or didn't take beforehand. And as much as I've played and re-played CT, it seems like I always find something new I had missed before.

DS Version = better Chrono Trigger

In my opinion, the DS version is the definitive one. Keep in mind that this is a port of the original 16-bit game, not a complete remake like, say, Final Fantasy IV DS. The Playstation port was nice in that it included anime cutscenes by the game's art and character designer, Akira Toriyama (of Dragonball fame), and also the extras feature that allowed you to unlock art illustration, music, a catalog of the endings you unlocked, etc. But I didn't like how the game had to load between each "map" (sometimes a single room, walking from one door to another) or how the background music would reset itself if you went to your menu, got into a battle, changed rooms, etc. And the music is definitely great enough to want to listen to. The DS version has everything that the PS version had (cutscenes, extras feature already unlocked) plus new content, without any loading or slow down or resetting.

You can choose to play the game in classic mode or DS mode, which moves menu choices and enemy data in battle to the lower screen, effectively freeing up the top screen. Outside of battle (in both modes), the lower screen displays the map of whatever area you are in and also allows you easy access to different menu functions (items, magic, equipment, changing characters, etc.) with a simple tap. Wisely, the developers made the game so that you run by default while moving (because who walks all the time?) and only walk by holding down a button.

DS Extra Content

Had this game been released without any extra content, I still would have snatched it up and loved it. These extras that are included are nothing spectacular but a nice little bonus.

Arena of the Ages this is basically a monster raising/battling mini-game, where you train up a little monster that resembles a nu. I personally don't care for these type of games. I played with this the first playthrough and have not bothered doing it again since. For me, it distracted too much from the real fun of the game, which was the story!

Lost Sanctum This extra town/dungeon appears near the end of the game and spans two time periods. It involves a lot of "go-fer" quests that can get annoying. But doing so can earn you many rare and new items and weapons/armor that can even rival your already-ultimate weapons/armor.

Dimensional Vortex opens up after beating the game for the first time. The vortices span three time periods. It's a mixture of randomly-generated previous-dungeon rooms plus new areas with new monsters (mostly palette-swaps of previous enemies). Like the Lost Sanctum, completing these provides more better-than-ultimate gear and maxes out the stats of your present-age heroes. It also unlocks a new final boss (and ending) and works to tie together some story elements to the game's somewhat-sequel, Chrono Cross (another good but very different game). Very cool. Definitely the best of the extra content IMO.

New Translation Controversy

I feel like I should mention this since others here have brought this up. The DS version does have a new translation so that dialogue and the names of some items are different than how they were translated in the original game. I suspect this won't matter to anyone but people like me who have played the game enough times to have the original Ted Woolsey translation memorized.

I feel that, in some areas, the new translation has improved the game and in other ways it hasn't. I don't think it would be fair to call it a "bad" translation just because it isn't the original. On one hand, I think the original translation had a certain light-heartedness to it that added to the humor and fun of the experience while the new one seems to add some depth and seriousness to the game. The Woolsey translation was also overly PC in that it edited out references pertaining to alcohol, etc., which did cause some (unintentionally?) funny moments (Taban: "Yum! Lemonade sure tastes great outdoors!" when he's clearly chugging from a large beer stein. And soup races with Ayla??). I do miss some of the jokes from the original, such as the references to the Knights of the Square(soft/EA) Table. Frog's Shakespearean speech is also missed since it added so much to his chivalrous character. On the other hand, the new translation clarifies and adds humor to some otherwise odd moments in the game (Dalton's: "what's that behind you?" and Nizbel II explaining why you had to fight him after walking right past him).

The DS at least acknowledges Woolsey's creativity by letting most of the names of characters remain the same. For instance, the three villains from the Middle Ages, Ozzie, Slash, and Flea, are all named after rockers; in the original Japanese, they're named after condiments I believe. But why are Mystics renamed as Fiends? I'll never know.

All in all, there's nothing in the new translation that doesn't match the essence of what's contained in the original one. Sure, I admit I'm nostalgic and I miss the original one many times, but I personally don't think it's fair to knock an awesome game to a one star review just because of that.

The Verdict on Chrono Trigger DS

To summarize what I meant to be a shorter review: This is a truly great game. And this version of it on the DS is super. I have never come across another RPG (or game for that matter) before or since that has matched it in its variety and depth of story, its simplicity and fun, and its replayability. This version has everything that the PS version had and more. And it's going for such a bargain price right now. I bought the game at full price (30-something dollars!) in November 08. I just recently bought another copy here on Amazon when it was going for $16 (because three save slots doesn't seem like much sometimes). That should say something about how great a game it is. I can highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a superb RPG. If you haven't experienced CT before, you owe it to yourself to see what this game is all about!

The Cooling Fan for the Xbox 360 is awesome, but I noticed once I turned off the Xbox waited for it to completely cool down thinking the fan would go off after that. But it's still on I guess there's no real way to make the fan turn off unless un-plugging the USB part of it, but oh well it's still pretty cool

I purchased one of these. It keeps the game system very cool. Which is great that's what it is supposed to do.

It also doesn't turn off. Ever. If you want it to turn off you have to unplug it. If you unplug it and forget to take it off you will forget to plug it back in and it will interfere with the cooling of your system. After getting irritated I finally just left it on, ALWAYS. It wasn't too loud it ran 24-7 for 5 months and then broke.

This is more of a tiny computer than anything else. IT has a full color display and it has the ability to convert almost any USB input to XBOX control. It's main function is to let you use a keyboard and mouse for playing first person shooters. However you can also connect other devices. I have a FragFX Wireless Shark for my PS3 and I was able to connect that to the XIM3 and use it on my Xbox as well. It works flawlessly. You can connect joysticks or anything else you want. It works flawlessly. I'm so impressed with this thing. Can I say it again? it's flawless. It's configurable to the n-th degree. You can dial it in so that it's perfect to your liking. Everything from mouse sensitivity and acceleration to individual button mappings. You can also setup up to 50 different configurations for different games. No need to reconfigure ever time you buy another game. It's really a very impressive piece of hardware. you can buy it straight from the manufacturer for 150. Go to their website.

The only drawback is all the wires you end up with. You have the XIM3 connected to your Xbox with one wire. Then you NEED a wired XBOX controller ( 2nd wire now), and that gets hooked up to the XIM3. Then you also connect a mouse ( 3rd wire) and also something else like a keyboard ( 4th wire) to the XIM3. If you use a headset and mic, there is another wire for that that goes to your wired XBOX controller. That's a lot of wires and it can get fairly disorganized and tangled if you don't stay on top of it. Just something to keep in mind.

I've used quite a few keyboard/mouse translators in the past, and this is by far the best I've ever gotten my hands on.

I definitely recommend the device, but you shouldn't buy it from here considering you can get it direct form the creator at xim3.com for $150.

I can't say enough about this little item. First thing. Don't buy it off Amazon.com! Go to the original website xim3.com or troll ebay for one. Second. Get this thing! Third. The only drawback is the cords! Man they are everywhere. My computer desk looks like the root system of an amazonian 500,000 year old tree. Add a wired Turtle Beach headset to the mix and you're well on your way to hanging yourself. But that doesn't bother me. This thing could get tangled around my hands, feet and face and I'd still use it!

I use this exclusively on Halo Reach. And it is beast! The xim3 with map knowledge and smart gameplay. You can't go wrong!

Will it make you more accurate? Oh, yeah.

Will it make you a better gamer? Oh, yeah.

Will you single handedly destroy other teams? . . . . . . . . . Oh, yeah.

In 1993, Capcom began to cult classic series, Mega Man X. Now after thirteen years, the first six games (from the Super Nintendo and Playstation) have finally received a re-release. It's what longtime fans of the series have been waiting for, but it isn't nearly as worthwhile as the original Mega Man Anniversary Collection.

To put it simple, Mega Man X takes place in the future, after the original Mega Man series. A group of robots calling themselves the Mavericks are waging war with the humans. They are lead by an evil reploid named Sigma. Meanwhile a rebel group--a group of robots calling themselves the Maverick Hunters--are on a quest to save humanity. And if you couldn't guess, it's Mega Man X leading this group.

You won't find any members of the original Mega Man series here, except well... Mega Man. The Mega Man X series shows a Mega Man that has more edge to him. The series also shows a more mature and grown up storyline.

Each of the Mega Man X games plays virtually the same. You control Mega Man X, created by Dr. Light years ago. Unlike the original, X can climb walls and cling to them. Like the original, however, you select a stage, go to it, and make your way to the boss and defeat it. Upon defeating a boss, you'll gain its special abilities. It's simple gameplay, but it works out just as well as it did in the original series.

Another highlight was how they introduced a key character. Zero. Zero isn't playable throughout the first half of the series, but in the later half he becomes a key player. He plays a very important role in the story.

In this collection, however, the games have been basically emulated. The emulation is perfect. Even the original passwords from the Super Nintendo versions will work. The soundtracks are unchanged, and they look almost exactly the same. There are a few differences. The original dialogue that was edited for the SNES releases has been restored (such as cusswords), and there's actually a bit of animated blood. Also, the slow down that plauged the cartridges has been fixed. Each game runs at good speed.

The only game that suffers horrible treatment is Mega Man X3. CAPCOM, for whatever reason, ported the PC version of the game, and the PC version wasn't all that great. The soundtrack sounds horrible, and I began to wonder why they skipped out on giving us the far superior Super Nintendo Version.

In addition, there's also a kart racing game called Mega Man Battle and Chase. It's a fun game, but the excitement of it drowns pretty fast. However, outside of that, there aren't nearly as many extras as there could be. For one, there are art galleries and that's about the only thing outside Mega Man Battle and Chase that's really worthwhile. I would've really liked to see some interviews and background on the series. The good news, though, the Gamecube and Playstation 2 versions are exactly the same. Both of them have the same unlockable extras, and if the controls bum you out, you can change them with no problems.

The other problem with the game is that like the original Mega Man Anniversary Collection, you're also getting games that were bad to begin with. The first four Mega Man X games are solid, but X5 and X6 weren't that much to get excited about in the first place(perhaps because by then the original developers of the series left). X5 and X6 also suffered some heavy criticisms by several fans. Still, six games for the price of thirty dollars isn't all that bad. And if you really didn't like them, you don't have to play them.

However, for what it's worth, it's nice to see this collection. There aren't as many extras as I had hoped for, but you do, for the most part, get some classics games. It's better than looking for the original SNES counterparts, and the look and feel of the games is still the same. It's great nostalgia for any fan of the Mega Man X series.

The Good

+Six games, for only thirty dollars

+Excellent Emulations-even the original passwords still work

+The look and feel is the same, meaning it's great nostalgia

+A seventh game is included Mega Man Battle and Chase

The Bad

-Later games in the series aren't nearly as good

-There just aren't nearly as many extras as there could've been

-They gave us the PC version of Mega Man X3. The audio is no where near as good on the PC version.

This has the best Megaman X games out there, I'm a big fan of X1,X2,X4 and X5, the menus/features aren't great and are lacking but it's the games that are important. All of the games work just as well as the originals and I feel they work best on the PS2 controller over the other consoles. All of the games are untouched letting the experience be as it was when they came out. It even has the PSOne version of X3 with better quality music, which is a big bonus since X3 is incredibly rare and expensive alone.

This has every game in the series up to X6, the quality of the games are mostly high though that's mostly up to personal taste. I honestly didn't care for X3 or X6 but the rest of the games are top-notch platforming with some of the best soundtracks in the genre.

There are some forgettable extras, a few bits of concept art, music, nothing you can't find online. Honestly the reason to get this is strictly the games which are 100% worth it.

The one big gripe I have with this collection is if you play it on PS2 through an component, it will NOT work, the games will not display though the menus will. I'm not sure why this is since I've played Sonic Mega Collection on the same set up and I've had no problems.

The collection does work on compatible PS3's via HDMI there's very slight controller delay which can be hard to take in a 2D platformer. However this can vary as I understand between monitors & set ups.

However with that problem it's still a solid collection as a lot of these games are hard to get and they are emulated really really well.

Back in the late 80's/early 90's, there were few names in gaming as beloved and hardcore as Mega Man. Time after time, Mega Man's games on the NES proved to be masterworks in hardcore gaming, and that classic series continued to stay on the NES even after the Super Nintendo was released. Then, in 1993/1994, Capcom introduced to the world a new kind of Mega Man to grace the more powerful system, and the gaming world would once again never be the same. Much like the classic Mega Man series, the X series would continue producing awesome hardcore gaming experiences for years to come (although it's definitely not as consistently excellent as the classic series, unfortunately). In traditional Capcom fashion, they produced a ton of X games, and now they've rereleased the first six onto a disc for your gaming pleasure, and what a pleasure it is.

The X series, from its very inception, was meant to advance the Mega Man name into a more hardcore direction, and it most definitely succeeded. Of course, the main gameplay retains the classic Mega Man formula. You go after 8 bosses with their own unique stage, you take on a final fortress series of levels, you gain new abilities and weapons from your vanquished foes, it's all about tight platforming and running and gunning, and so on and so worth. However, it's not just classic Mega Man with an "X" at the end of the title. New moves, health upgrades, and Light capsules that hold armor upgrades for X are attributes first introduced in Mega Man X, and quickly became series' mainstay elements. In later X titles, you could play the game as Zero, who utilized a totally different style of play with his melee-centric Z-saber focus and a "Weapon Get" system that totally differs from X's and is very unique. I love playing as both characters. They're both about as good as it gets when it comes to 2-D action platforming.

I love the story behind the Mega Man X series and this paragraph will be somewhat of a tangent about it. Much like the gameplay, the story took the Mega Man name into more mature, complex themes that resonate with gamers of all ages. It takes place 100 years after the events of the classic Mega Man games, and features a new cast of characters, villains, and a very different type of conflict. The story in this series often explores themes of betrayal, loyalty to your brethren, the philosophical implications of freewill in machines, and war itself. It's all quite awesome. The main character is X (the new Mega Man), and he has a whole cast of great support characters, including his greatest comrade and close friend Zero, who also becomes playable in later X titles in this collection. It's all great. I love the charming and fun aspects of the classic series, but the X series just appeals to me more from a narrative perspective. Each game has a fairly different story too. No "Wily was behind Cossack/fakeProtoMan/Mr.X the whole time!!!" stories, and I quite like that. Sigma may be the main villain in each X game, but X4 is a great example of moral complexity and ambiguity that makes the overall plot quite compelling. The whole notion that the absolute evil you face, Sigma, was once the greatest hero in the world, and that Zero, one of the most awesome heroes, was once evil and Dr. Wily's last and greatest creation, is just fantastic. X1, X4, and X5 are personal highlights, for me, when it comes to the plot. Great stuff.

The quality of the collection itself is quite awesome. The controls have always been very tight, and thankfully this collection really does work well on the PS2 and Gamecube both. I personally prefer the PS2 controller's d-pad, shoulder buttons, and overall button arrangement, but both are great to play (I personally own both versions). There aren't nearly as many extras on this one as the classic Mega Man Anniversary Collection, but there are some such as unlockable artwork, as well as a PSX Mario/Crash Bandicoot Kart racing clone with Mega Man, which is quite a lot of zany fun. All-in-all, a stellar job at compiling it all together, and of course, the core X titles are what make this collection a must-own.

If you fancy yourself a classic gamer who loves action titles, then it really doesn't get much better than Mega Man X. Sure, there are some weaker entries in the series (I personally am not fond of 3, and 6 is downright atrocious, in my opinion), but overall, the Mega Man X collection is a fantastic package of multiple gaming masterpieces that must be played. I really cannot recommend it enough. Any hardcore gamer will love this series. So buy it, go to war against the Mavericks who would rob the world of peace, and put an end to Sigma's evil, twisted ambitions!

Honest reviews on Mega Man X Collection - PlayStation 2

I've been waiting for this since the first Mega Man Collection came out. The anniversary collection they released with the original Mega Man games was fun, but I think every gamer who had played through all the old ones had some problem with it. Capcom figured out what exactly it did wrong, and really drove this one home.

One of the reasons this really shines as being just like it was on the original systems is because the controller designs line up naturally. The Super Nintendo and Playstation both have 4 "action buttons" if you will, so executing button combinations works out exactly the same on the Playstation 2 as they did on the SNES.

As for the actual games, they're exactly like they were on the old systems. Some people might be disappointed, but I was happy to see that there were no alterations in the graphics. Some people were wishing for more extras, but for me, the only thing I really wanted was all of the old X titles in one package (since the older games are hard to come by these days). Capcom did that.

I'd recommend this to anyone who really liked any of the X titles--as a general rule, the series started great and as new games came out, they got worse and worse. I think straying from side-scrolling was a bad choice, but that's the direction that graphics went. Sometimes the best games are the ones with minimal graphics, an obvious goal and a little bit of inventiveness. I think over time that inventiveness became really hard to come by.

Old Mega Man fans will not be disappointed. This collection is ahead of the anniversary collection that came out about 2 years ago by leaps and bounds.

A short while after releasing the solid Mega Man Anniversary Collection, Capcom wisely heeds the call of its fans for the re-release of the blue bomber's older, tougher, future self in Mega Man X Collection. Bringing another heaping portion of the finest 2D platforming around in six yummy courses, it even throws in a racing game and some extra goodies for dessert.

The X series debuted in the early 90's on the SNES with a darker, more mature feel designed to expand on the tried and true formula of the original NES titles. The main difference lies in the progressive, overarching plot dealing with human/reploid (fancy word for robot) conflict and some very grown-up ideas about this self-proclaimed 'race' of androids seeking freedom and realizing their dream of a robotopia. That's pretty intense for a side-scroller.

As far as gameplay evolution, the X games focus on collecting various ability upgrades and health extensions in addition to the old "kill the bosses and get their special powers" mechanic of the classic Mega Man. New actions like charge shots, dashing and hovering add a deeper set of variables to the equation and really flesh out the experience. Gone are Cut-Man and Dust-Man, as the baddies in X get wacky animal-based monikers like Spark Mandrill, Morph Moth and my personal favorite, Duff McWhalen.

Mega Man X through X6 are included in this fairly robust package, covering three SNES and three PSOne titles released over an eight-year period, and each game adds variation and depth to the experience. X3 introduces the mysterious, androgynous, light-sabering Zero as a partially playable character (think Proto-Man with a ponytail), and X4 tops that by giving Zero his own playable storyline. Things start to take a turn for the worse in X5 and X6, however, where the heavy plotlines and vast amount of upgrades start to buckle under their own weight. Ultimately, the bells and whistles of the PS titles hasten the slow decline from the series' original greatness by adding a bit too much drama and cheesy gameplay tactics.

All the games share the same sweet, distinctive art style of cartoonish robo-animals and colorful, interactive levels. The emulation is rock solid, and unlike the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, you can now configure your controller however you see fit. There's no noticeable difference between the PS2 and Gamecube versions, although the PS2's controller is better suited for hours upon hours of holding that charge shot while trying to dash-jump off walls.

Barring a strange audio loop plaguing the SNES games, the sound is spot-on, too. Nice, catchy tunes carry you through the whole shebang. The sound effects are faithful as well, although the PS titles tie annoying 'Yeah!' and 'Hah!' sound effects to every jump and attack, and I guarantee your ears will ring with the sound of a held charge shot after a few hours.

Password support is still in working order for X, X2 and X3, so feel free to skip to the end, but you're also able to simply save your progress to a memory card like the PS games. The incentive to bust through the first three titles lies in the fact that once completed, you'll unlock Mega Man Battle and Chase, which is a Mario Kart-esque racer that was only released in Japan. It's nice to see such a rarity, but why they buried it beneath three other games is mystifying. As you plow through the other games, you'll also unlock various art galleries and soundtracks to fawn over, if you're the type.

And it's hard not to be at this price thirty bucks for seven games ain't too shabby, even if a few of them aren't terrific. While the Mega Man Anniversary Collection contained more meat, there's simply a ton of robots to blast, dozens of armor capsules to grab, and really no good reason not to let ol' Blue back in your life once again.

MoH Warfighter reminded me of BF3, obviously since it was made by the same developers. Overall, I like the way the game was designed and the way it plays. Most annual release franchises try to dazzle gamers by adding a few new features, to a roster updated but otherwise unchanged, game. THQ and Yukes are one of the few companies that seem to take their game back to the drawing board each year and rebuild from the ground up. Smackdown vs. Raw '07 is a truly an ambitious example of this trend and the end product is nothing short of amazing!!

By far the largest change this year is the completely redone control scheme. Though this can initially be very jaring to long time fans who have been using the same controls for almost a decade to play Smackdown games, it truly IS for the best. Each year THQ has been trying to give the gamer increased control over what moves their wrestler performs in the ring while still maintaining an authentic on screen wrestling matches. This year the right analog stick gives you more control over what AND HOW certain moves are performed. For example, in the past a typical turnbuckle move was to mount and punch a guy 10 times. This was performed by pressing the right combo of buttons and was followed by a canned animation. In SVR '07 you actually control how many times you punch your opponent by mimicking the punching motion and pressing up and down with the right analog stick. This may initially seem needlessly complicated but the on screen instructions make the appropriate button presses apparent in all environmental situations.

The season and GM modes have also been improved upon but to me the most exciting changes were done to the create-a-entrance mode. You can now watch entrances AS you make changes and you can actually control the timing on fireworks and camera moves!! WOW!!

The graphics and sound are as good as they are gonna get on the PS2. It's hard to explain but the moves seem to "chain together" better than in past games. For example, reversals aren't so obvious and thus harder to counter. You'll think you're executing a move perfectly until Oops, you're laying on the mat wondering what happened. The wrestler models are slightly closer to their real life versions this year. The commentary though, mostly the same seems to have been expanded upon for more action specific comments. Instead of JR commenting on the fact that you are beating your opponent, he'll talk about the powerbomb you just executed. The wrestlers themselves also make noise as well when wrestling (hooray for grunting) . The only negative criticism I have relates to loading screens. While this has always been an issue on the PS2, loading seems to take extra long this year (probably because of all of the improvements). In some cases you'll wait 20 seconds on one load screen only to go to the next load screen.

This years' installment of Smackdown vs. Raw has some high points and some low ones. First off, the addition of the "Ultimate Control" moves is definately a highlight; being able to hang up your opponent on the ropes, repeatedly smash their head into the ring steps and announce table are a few things that add a bit more realism to the experience which is definately worth mentioning. There is also the ability to take the fight into the crowd, although that feature is not enabled for all match types. Also, GM mode has recieved a facelift, adding the Power 25 from wwe.com to gauge how "over" certain wrestlers are and who could use a better push, and being able to hire writers to create rivalries for your wrestlers which in turn generate better ratings, as opposed to just starting one yourself by keeping two wrestlers involved in the same matches every week like last year is a vast improvement.

Season Mode and Legends:

On to the problems with the game, which I'm sad to say are many. For starters, season mode is an absolute bore, but is essential if you hope to earn cash to unlock the Legends in the game, as well as earn experience points to jack up your created wrestlers. Speaking of legends, was it really necessary to include all of Mick Foley's characters in the game? It seems that they were just looking to beef up the Legend roster and this was the easiest solution, much like including 3 different Hulk Hogan's in 2006.

Music and Commentary:

Next up is the sound. In my humble opinion, this series has been plagued with the worst video game soundtrack since I started playing with "Here Comes The Pain" Also, 90% of the in match commentary has been recycled from previous installments so you can expect to hear JR explaining Government Mules and Scolded Dogs to Jerry Lawler for the 1000th time.

Challenges and Match Types:

They have also cut back on the amount of trophies that can be earned as well as available challenges to complete which added a lot of replay value to the previous SvR games, so I was sad to see that cut back. There is also only one new match type included in the game; the "Money in the Bank" Ladder Match.

Controls:

Moving on to the "improved" grappling system. This has to be the most hyped up part of the game. In the months leading up to the game's release we heard about the new analog grappling system which was going to make the grapples more fluid and intuitive, but frankly it does the opposite. The game relies too heavily on the right analog and it feels very foriegn and takes quite a bit of getting used to. If you simply can't deal with it, switching the control to type D in the options screen should give you a feel closer to that of the previous games. They have also implemented an "infinite reversal" system where you and your opponent can conceivably counter eachother's moves forever, which is not the case because many counters are followed by unavoidable attack animations. the game also claims to discourage button mashing as you will see in one of the video tutorials, but it's still the best way to achieve a counter as the on screen prompts show up too late, and are non existant in the case of reversing finishers. If you are downed, a message under the HUD will tell you to hit any button repeatedly to recover which prevents the reversal prompts from showing up at all so if you're on the mat, you have no choice but to button mash and just hope for the best. In one instance, there was a match that had spilled out into the crowd, and Batista, once he had me down, did nothing but submission after submission after submission and I was helpless to counter.

Bugs:

I personally as well as many other people have experienced several bugs in the game regarding the announce team and the ring announcers, as well as some gameplay glitches. These are some of the ones I have experienced:

The announce team frequently calls out the wrong finisher being performed. For instance, Triple H will perform a Pedigree and sometimes they will call it a Twist Of Fate. Bobby Lashley will do the Dominator, and they will call it the Dead Level. During season mode, whenever you are at a cross brand Pay Per View, your match is called by the announce team from the other show. So if you're wrestling say at Summerslam, and you're a Smackdown wrestler, the match will be called by JR and King, but in the post match cut scene, the correct announce team takes over. There is also a bug in the game in tag team matches where the ring announcer will only announce the first member of a tag team and not the second member. Another thing is that the ring announcers never announce a championship match, I don't know if this is a bug or just something that was left out, but it's annoying. The commentators will also often refer to wrestlers who aren't even involved in the match.

One glaring gameplay glitch is in ladder matches, if you are on the ladder reaching for the belt, your opponent will sometimes magically appear at the top of the ladder even if they were down and nowhere near the ladder in the first place.

Overall the game feels like it should have spent at least another month in beta tetsing before being released. I should also mention that people I have spoken to that have played the game on Xbox 360 have not experienced the technical issues that I have on the PS2. When all is said and done, it's not a bad game, but it's not the definative wrestling title we were hoping for either. I'd recommend a rental before buying so you can see if the game's problems will ruin the experience for you before you go and spend 50 bucks on it.

Having played every Smackdown game to date, I pay alot of attention to new details of every new edition to the series.

I love this series and look forward to each addition every year.

If you're a long-time player like me, here are some plusses and minuses.

Plusses:

Hotspots are very cool. Easy to use and well-animated and also creative.

You can easily tear apart the announcer's table, use the cords, etc.

Also, like on TV, you cannot put an opponent thru the announcer's table without removing everything first.

The ultimate controls are nice. You can lift players up and slam them into lots of ring areas like choke-slamming them onto the exposed turnbuckle or thru the announce table. In Hell in a Cell it's great because you can walk them around in a held power bomb, chokeslam or even military press and throw them off the cell.

There are new unlockable title belts, like Austin's skull belt.

Tables are totally revamped. The animations of slamming someone thru a table is way better than just a "V" split. Tables now break and conform to the wrestler.

Ladders have many more grapple uses; you can position it horizontally in the corner and nail wrestlers 4 different way.

The new grappling system is not bad. It allows for more moves.

Counter system is pretty good. A slight step up from last year.

Storylines are very good and not repetitive. There are many of them and cover lots of PPV's, title reigns and show jumps.

The experience to build up superstars is fair, as you need experience, rather than 100+ matches to build up the teamwork factor.

There are nice additions to the grapple moves.

The create an entrance is revamped also and it's the best in the series. It allows automatic viewing upon every change.

Before each title match, there's a short animation with the ref holding up the title(s) to the crowd.

Sledgehammer and title belt attack animations are great.

Nice to see Steph and Shane back in the game, even if they're just season characters.

Glitches and flaws:

AI is horrible. Once you have gained 99 exp, there's no longer much challenge, save a ladder match, where that takes timing and accuracy to take the belt or briefcase.

Blood is not as good as last year. There's less and after the match in the winning animation screen, it disappears off the opponent.

Tat titles: Your tag team partner will NOT be announced and the belt will be horribly animated over their waist.

Announcer's have about %80 of the old commentary, save entrance and cut scenes during season.

New controls set up is difficult to get use to, but you can use 4 different type of set-ups. If you change to old-style, targeting is very difficult in multi-player matches, like Boney in the bank, where you have to be able to go for someone quickly reaching for the hanging item.

No weapons AT ALL in Hell in a Cell.

For a C-A-W's entrance, if you use an entrance pattern, other than a known wrestler, they will not enter carrying a belt, if they are a title holder. Ex. If you pick "Entrance 1" it won't work. If you set it to Kurt Angle, you'll enter with a title.

Voices for CAW are horrible and all sound almost like overly-juiced guys or bordering on monsters.

NO VINCE or NO CHANCE IN HELL theme.

No HHH "Bow Down to the King"

Only 3 wrestlers have different attires. JBL, HHH and (masked) Kane.

LONG loading times, especially for CAW matches.

Pinning an opponent can be done even if a wrestler is in the yellow.

Too easy.

Either the AI counters everything (and doesn't attack) or just gets pummeled.

Chairshots are not as good as last year.

Again, I don't hate on this game, I just think it's sad alot of these things slipped thru the designers cracks.

I think they focused too much on season and grapple system and hotspots that the ball was dropped on the little things that are what really make the game more enjoyable.

I haven't played online yet, but I am praying there are some patches they'll offer to fix these glitches.

I'd give it more stars if it weren't for so many small things.

The big additions do not make up for the many small losses.

Honest reviews on WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007 - PlayStation 2

Let's be honest. This game is great, no doubt about it. The features far outweigh the disappointments, but let's break them down.

The Good:

Amazing graphics, the cool ability to control every aspect of your wrestler, his image, his entrance. It's like being in the tv show itself, complete with storylines and interaction with other wrestlers.

The Bad:

The controls are just too tough to learn. Right analog, left analog, and heavy usage of both. Its also annoying to those of us who prefer the keypad to even have to USE the analog sticks. Now the keypad is annoyingly used only for taunting which can get your a** beat when you mistakenly hit it to move your wrestler. The constant usage of all buttons is a bit daunting. The first time you find yourself in a tag-team match and try to tag your partner you will know what I mean. First select, oops, no your facing the ref now ok, select again, ok, now I am facing my tag team partner. Dang it, the X button didn't tag him. SHOOT I just got a chair to the back of my head because IT TOOK TOO LONG! ---While I admit that they made ample use of every control option available, it's just overkill.

Overall, if you can invest the time in this game, you pick everything up. But the learning process is slow. Also, THQ why do you start the created wrestlers at an overall rating of 37? Man, how about a 50 at least? Talk about making this a demanding game to learn....

Indycar 2005 definitely has its flaws, but this is one racing game you can't simply start off and win races without a little forethought and planning. Each oval course has it's own individual design differences and you start out test driving your car on the track to find out where you lose speed, oversteer or understeer through the turns, etc. while trying to clock your fastest lap possible. You can go to the "garage" option where you make adjustments to the tire pressure, cambers, springs, front and rear wings, and so on to get the best performance out of your car for that track. Once you are satisfied, you go on to qualify for a starting position, and finally race against other competitors for points in a season.

The learning curve can be a bit steep for someone like myself who doesn't know their way around an indycar, but there is a masterclass mode that covers some of the basics and with practice and patience, adjusting the car becomes easier. Once you get a grasp of what your car can do, you can go on to compete in a series that spans a single season as yourself in a pre-existing team or as one of the available drivers. You can also choose a quick race by selecting a single track. There are difficulty settings that affect the rules of the race and the harder the setting, more rules like damage, pit stops, cautions, and penalties, apply. There are also custom settings that include driver assists to help you get comfortable handling the car. To top it off, you can adjust the number of laps in segments from ten to two hundred.

You spend a lot of time on the track, especially in practice and for many, the repetitive driving on ovals may seem tedious. You really have to like oval racing and indycars to get anything out of this game, so I don't recommend it for the casual player of racing games. For those who are interested in indycars, it's best to rent the game first to see if it meets personal expectations or not before buying it. I own it and prefer to drive manual, without assists and use the driver's view to get the most out of what it lacks in terms of the feel and look of the game, but what I like best is the depth of what you can do with the car setup and race options in season or quick race.

I would like to see this title improved in the way of graphics. The cars do appear to "float" on the track without much ground shadow. Much more can be done to make pit stops seem more like pit stops. Add a few road courses like St. Pete, Infineon, and Walkens Glen, update the driver roster, and I think this game could become quite a hit.

I was hoping for a better more indepth action of quality here at INDY such as we can find in Forza Motor sport and NASCAR 2005 Chase for the cup even being a bit better as far as race action and graphics compared to this repeat of Indy 500. Don't see much difference in "2005"!

I was a bit discouraged by the arcade like graphics and lack of higher quality race action that I am wanting for an INDY simulator. I want some high quality INDY and nobody has delivered!

Not bad. Fun but a little weak. For example when you stop in the pit the car just pulls into a ghost town and pulls out real quick instead of a crew coming out and completing the job. Not a big deal but the over all game play is a tad toy like as well!

Im looking forward to "ToCa Racer 2006" this winter where we should see some Sprinter and Grand Prix racing with extream quality and eye candy.

This INDY 500 2005 is not bad but we have moved up from this level in my opinion and we really want extream quality and details with our game play and beautiful eye candy graphics!

This is lacking this!

While the collision physics may be a little weird, the core game is very good. Graphics and sounds are solid and the controls are phenomenal.

Honest reviews on IndyCar Series 2005

This is the best Indy car game ever made! You can actually unlock cards with actual clips of Indy 500 history like your watching the speed channel.you can fine tune your cars, wings,(front and back)fuel load/tire pressure/dampers/gear ratio's/even change livery's If you unlock them. You can use your own name(unlike the f1 series by EA sports, in which you just choose an actual f1 driver to be)For the most real damage and Indy experience(including going through yellow's pit stops, having to qualify with just the right setup, and like I just told you, real damage/falures and having to adjust your fuel settings 0-7 on your steering wheel, you'll have to put it on pro level(top level in game)and you'll need lots of practice and some knowledge of Indy racing as well to know what to do!I've been watching the Indycars since I was 5,(1981)and I know a lot about making adjustments to my car and which team to choose. For example:You'd want to be on Penske/Target-Chip Ganassi/Andretti/Foyt enterprises/Team Rahal/Red Bull racing, teams like that, not teams like Codemasters. You need a good car.I'm on Rahal cuz the colors are similar to Pat Patrick racing of the early 80's and I thought that Gordon Johncock had the best all-time livery!,(similar to John Andretti's 43/STP Indy car) and Richard Petty's(Owner of John Andretti's current car)Stockcar back in the 80's early 90's.If you are good enough though, you should be okay with whomever you choose. You can even create your own team with your own livery too!(must unlock this first) They have 2 classes of unlockable chassi's/livery's,(Ovals and road courses.)I exclusively race at the brickyard.Where else?!?I am just now at the point where I can go at least 50 laps without having to start over again.I was actually a couple of laps down in an Indy 500 race and I had my front wing replaced,Right rim fixed(messaged)-well that's what it looked like he was doing-LOL!!!and a near miss in a save because I know to slow down on those to avoid the wall, and I caught up and lead the race back on pace with the other drivers on the pit stops too.I know level 4 fuel is where I need to be cuz' fuel will come in to play towards the end of the race, like in real-life,but to catch up I cranked it to 7,which will take about 2 to2 1/2 laps off your fuel total so be careful 5-6 are fast enough if you want to conserve.0 you use for pitstops and yellow's, Anyways, I lost it in turn one in that race and finished 13th on the 126th lap, there was Alot of attrition. That's another cool thing about this race, realistic crash physics and a replay(multiple angles to choose from)to see when a driver crashes out of a race.you have a spotter, like in real-life to let you know who's ahead or behind you, who's out of the race, when to pit, yellow's and when to go green, and when someone is trying to make a pass and on what side.A very well done, yet underappreciated X-Box game.(also forps2)One of the reasons why I have an X-box!I love it!!!

I may not be the best at race games, but I love how this game looks and reacts. I enjoy the fact that it's an original game for the xbox, but was able to play on my xbox360. You won't get the feel from the wheel when you hit a bump or hit a wall. But, that still doesn't stop me from playing it. It's still a good race game.

Review of Turtle Beach Ear Force XLa Gaming Headset - Xbox 360

Turtle Beach Ear Force XLa Gaming Headset - Xbox 360
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
I actually purchased this headset for the same price at Best Buy but wanted to submit a review describing what I thought of the product to hopefully help out those on the fence on purchasing this particular headset.

I had been in the market for a moderately priced headset to use for late night gaming on my Xbox 360 where I won't disturb the family. This week I paid $50 for a pair of Turtle Beach X12's. Got it home, set it all up, played a few different games to play around with the sound settings and just try the headset out. I was really impressed. After a couple hours, I started to realize a couple things. One, the microphone monitoring feature was barely working. I mean, it worked, but it was so quiet you really couldn't tell what you were saying through your headset. I searched that particular problem on the internet and I wasn't the only one that thought it was incredibly quiet. The second thing that turned me off of the X12 was they were a bit uncomfortable to wear if you wear glasses. The ear cups, although very comfortable at first and well designed, they'd eventually push on the arms of my glasses and push them into my head. Didn't feel so good after a couple hours of gaming.

Although I really liked the sound quality of the X12, I decided to return my set and buy the cheaper $30, Turtle Beach XLa set. This being the only real headset I've purchased (other than the X12 I tried out), I don't have anything really to compare it to other than the X12.

Setup was really easy right out of the box (or plastic packaging in this case). The 15' cord and headset are already connected together with red and white RCA plug-ins, and USB connections at the end of the cord. When you set this headset up you'll need to make sure you have RCA component OUTPUT ports on the back of your TV or have an Audio Adapter to use on your Xbox 360 (if you're using HDMI like me). Me, I have ports on my TV to plug them into, but I chose to do it straight from my Xbox 360, in which case I already had an adapter handy so I was good to go.

The XLa's use 40mm speakers, 10mm less than the X12's, but as far as I can tell I can't really notice much of a difference. These headphone "cups" fit ON your ear rather than OVER the ear like the X12's and many others headsets. It won't be the same for everybody, but this alone fixed my glasses problem immediately. The headband piece in the middle of the headset has a thin, almost memory foam covered in pleather like strip along the bottom that makes the headset more comfortable to wear on top of your head. So far I haven't really had a problem with the headset feeling too tight or anything. It's been fairly comfortable. The rest of the headset is made with some thick plastic. It looks a lot cheaper than other TB headsets, but I think it'll hold up well as time goes on. I don't know about you guys, but I think some people who complain about pieces falling apart and cords being severed are probably more of an operator error than poor craftsmanship. Some folks are a little too rough on things.

The audio controls are all located on the left ear cup. This isn't really -toomuch of a problem, but I and probably many other people are used to having those types of controls found along the cord leading up to the headset. You have a mute/unmute switch, a Voice volume control, and a Game volume control. Again, this is just a $30 headset so I can understand wanting to make it as compact as possible. The sound controls work fine, but for me the mute switch is a tad hard to switch on and off. This set has a set Bass Boost function where most other TB headsets have an adjustable control like the game and chat audio. To me the set bass is fine and is plenty strong and packs a pretty good punch.

The microphone is really nice. It's really easy to adjust it any way you could want. I will say that this microphone, as is a lot of other TB mics, is really sensitive. You aren't going to want this right next to your mouth. Everyone will hear you breathing and every little noise you could possibly make. I keep it away from my mouth, more along my cheek and people can still hear me fine. The microphone monitoring feature works well on this. It's a lot more noticeable on this set than the X12. Your voice is amplified into the headset so you can hear what you're saying as you talk so you're not trying to yell over game audio to be heard.

The audio itself, like I said in the beginning, is coming from two 40mm speakers. I've tried out CoD: Modern Warfare 3, WWE All-Stars, Rock Band Blitz, and some other games, and I can't complain at all. I've always played off just my HDTV speakers and I am amazed at how many little sounds and nuances I haven't been able to hear before I got this headset. Games like MW3, I'm hearing bullets whiz by me, I can tell which direction they're coming from, footsteps can be placed, and the sound of a .44 Magnum blaring with the bass boost is really satisfying. Switch it over to a game like Rock Band Blitz, and I'm hearing notes in songs I never really noticed before. Just a lot nicer and cleaner than coming from my tiny HDTV stereo speakers.

Although my original intentions were to just have a stereo headset handy when I want to keep my gaming down as to not bother anyone, I've found myself wearing them most of the time just because of how good it sounds. I would say that anyone looking into a low cost headset, or need a replacement for that busted up Microsoft chat mic, I would definitely recommend the Turtle Beach XLa. It's not perfect, but for the price and its quality, you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal.

Let's look at the slight cons first:

(slight) cons:

Only stereo sound. 2 channels, however they seem very omnidirectional.

No optical input (only stereo output anyway, makes sense)

Not wireless (wireless ones eat batteries like crazy, however)

Not the most comfy (but definitely the most compact and by no means uncomfortable)

On paper, these seemed great. 40MM drivers, bass bost, microphone monitor, controls built into the ear cup, sleeker and more compact than any other models

But man I wasn't expecting them to be THIS nice. I previously owned both the Ear Force X11 Amplified Stereo Headset with Chat and the Ear Force X41 (XBOX LIVE Chat + Wireless Digital RF Game Audio with Dolby Headphone 7.1 Surround Sound).

Why I don't like wireless Turtle Beaches: batteries. Even with high-capacity, rechargeable batteries, I was swapping them out of my x41's every couple of days. Too annoying, and you still required a wire to the controller anyway.

The wires on this are the least annoying I've ever seen on a turtle beach. Thanks to the controls being located on the earcup, the wires only split to plug into the controller. It is a durable black wire that feels rigid and sturdy.

They are easy to get out of the way, and easy to wrap up.

Build construction: Durable, very light, feel very plastic-y. These aren't Sennhesiers or Beats, so I was expecting that. The rotating cups are very nice for safe storage without worry of stressing the joints.

-Sound is awesome, super loud, bass is punchy, very crisp trebles, mic monitoring lets you hear yourself (better than others can hear you, you'll hear your own breathing a lot but it only broadcasts after a certain threshold of volume is reached, so just check the mic indicator in whatever game you're playing. Eventually you get a feel for it's sensitivity).

The cups aren't uncomfortable, but if I apply pressure on the cups while wearing them, I can feel the plastic speakers press into my ears. Also felt when readjusting the mic. But since these are on-ear and not over-the-ear, I expected this.

WHY AM I EVEN STILL TALKING JUST LOOK AT THE FEATURES, THEN LOOK AT THE PRICE.

Thirty. dollars. THIRTY.

Could use a little more padding, but I ain't even mad.

Great headphones. 9.5/10.

Best Deals for Turtle Beach Ear Force XLa Gaming Headset - Xbox 360

Cons -

1. The wires man! They are so big that you can strangle your neighbor with it, haha. But i guess that has to do with the ability to get game sound.

2. The soft thing on the top of the headband is annoying at first but after 1-2 days you get use to it because it loosens up a bit.

3. Sometimes if you want to hear party members or messages then you might have to restart the Xbox 360. As in close the button and put it back.

Pros -

1. Awesome for the price.

2. Like Beats By Dre for Xbox 360.

3. Very adjustable volume levels for the game sound and chat sound. Pretty awesome isn't it?

4. If you guys are afraid it might not work for TV sound if you set up the headphones, don't worry the television sound will still come same as it did.

5. Keeps the game sound quiet, might make the people using the headphones a little louder because they think they have to scream (effect).

6. Very very very easy to setup, i never knew that headphones like these are that easy to.

Honest reviews on Turtle Beach Ear Force XLa Gaming Headset - Xbox 360

I am a pretty serious xbox gamer, but I've never been the best because I always had the regular chat headsets. I would keep buying cheap headsets, but they would break after about five months. However, this one is much better.

I was going to buy the Turtle Beach EarForce X12 Headset, but It was a little too expensive for my budget. After looking in every store and on every website, I finally found the Turtle Beach Ear Force XLa.

I couldn't decide wether to buy it or not, but after reading the reviews I decided to take a chance. And it was definitely worth it.

Pros:

Lightweight. After hours of playing you can barely notice it's even on your head.

Easy controls. The controls are located on the headset, which means there doesn't have to be a giant box hanging on the cord.

Great sound. The sound quality is great! I can hear things I have never heard before!

Nice durable cords. The cords are long and durable so you don't have to worry about them braking.

Great mic. The boom mic is designed so that it will only pick up the sound coming from you, and not anything else in the room. GENIUS!

It's thirty dollars instead of sixty.

Cons:

None.

Well, that's all I have to say. It's a fantastic headset for a fantastic price.

The Turtle Beach Ear Force XLa gaming headset. Where do I start? Great Great Great! I absolutely love this item and I have not yet experienced any problem with this headset. And with the price? A even better buy with a cheap price tag. I previously owned a turtle beach x12 and x11 and i seemed to notice those things burned my ears after long gaming sessions. My ear would feel like i just stuck it in the microwave. But with this on-ear i can play long sessions no problem and the headset works no problem. And I also think the mixamp being on the headset is a bonus. Sure takes a while to get use to. Getting to remember where the chat and game volume is also the mute button. After you get use to it you'll see a big difference that it is actually faster to change between volumes. All i have to say is I will recommend this headset to all my friends and this product was a great buy.

Ok, if you thought Sly 2: Band of Theives was good, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

You have, amoung other things, a VERY lengthy game with tons of enemies and missions to do. There are 3D levels where you put on 3D glasses and everything jumps out at you. Its amazing and family friendly. Be the first person on your block to play this game!

Please note that you DO NOT need to have played ANY of the other Sly games in order to enjoy this game. Although it is essential to understand some of the storyline, it is not needed to actually enjoy this all new, action-packed game.

Unlike what most people was saying, this game has easily surpassed both previous installments. What are you waiting for? GET IT NOW!!!!! (Note that the violence is almost NULL and VOID in this game, the rating of 10+ is only due to the cartoon violence that is the same as if you were reading a comic book of Spiderman or Superman, it is quite discreet and younger children CAN play this game without the risk of violence being the dominating theme. It is all in fun and absolutely NO gore, sexual themes, and other themes games have taken the route of recently)

Overall: On the buy scale: an easy 5 out of 5

Fun Factor: 5 out of 5

Gameplay: 5 out of 5

Wow Factor: 4 out of 5 (aside from the 3D glasses, nothing new here in visual presentation)

New Gameplay: 5 out of 5

Replay Value: 4 out of 5 (can get repetitive over time)

Based on the scores totaled: 5 out of 5

I.E. If you don't buy it, you WILL miss out!!!!!!!!!

Let me just say that I really enjoyed this game .It's one of the funnest game that I've ever played. Let me start out with the storyline . The game begins where the previous game left off. bentley is now in a wheel chair , since he was injured at the end of the last game ,and murray has left the team to go on a path of peacfulness and non-violence, because he blames himself for what happend to Bentley , since he was close to Bentley when he got injured , so he thinks he could have saved him .Meanwhile , Sly meets a guy from his father's old gang , that tells him about a secret island somewhere in the pacific ocean , that holds the cooper vault . This vault is the place in which Sly's ancestors put all of their loot and treasures in . Naturally , Sly goes to find the vault. However , when he arrives , he sees that someone called Dr.M is already there. Apparentlry this guy has been trying to crack open the cooper vault for years , to no avail .He became so paranoid ,that he even built a huge, heavily guarded fortress around the vault to protect it , while he tries to break in . Sly and bentley realize that they're going to need to recruit new members to the gang if they want to get in the vault , and this is where the game starts .

in the rest of the game , you visit 6 different levels , the are longer , funner , and more complex than those in the second game. In each of these levels ,you will need to recruit a new member to your gang .However , it's not that simple . Each of the thieves that you recruit will ask you to do them a favor before they join your team , so you'll have to complete many missions in each world before that thief will join your team.

The missions are also longer and more fun than those in the second game , and usually you'll use two or more members to complete each step of the mission. You will also get the option to replay each mission you complete once you beat it ,something that the secong game didn't have , and this gives the game a big replay value.

speaking of new characters , you will get five other playable characters in the game . The good thing is , that although you get to play the other characters , the main focus is still on sly , bentley and murray , and they're the only characters that can use the gadgets that you buy from thiefnet. (speaking of which , each character will get new attacks and gadgets ,and keep some of their old ones as well )Still, he mini games with each of the other characters are very fun to play ,and they never get too repetitve (like in the second game). The new characters are:

A.the gure He is a magical koala that can jump on a guard's head , and control his mind , making him run around and smash into things. He can also camouflage himself , to hide from the guards.

B.Penelope -She's has an RC chopper and an RC car , which you will control in some of the missions . they're both very fun .

C.panda king He's basically the new demolitions expert in the gang . Gamers might remember him from the first game . He can also shoot fireworks at enemies .

D.Dimitri-He does all of the underwater missions for the gang . He also appeared in the secong game .

E.Camelita-(she's not really in the gang , just sometimes sly and the gang bait her into attacking one of their enemies ,then you get control of her.)she can jump really high , and she also has a shock pistol , which is pretty useful.

Another good thing is the graphics. These are great , cartoonish , cel-shaded graphics, and they look really great .Speaking of graphics , the game also has some missions that can be played using 3-D glasses that come in the manual . These are really geat , and they make the game seem very realistic , and the images seem to pop out at you. Even though the entire game is not playable in 3-D , most of the missions you complete are playable in 3-D after you finish them . The 3-D glasses are an awesome feature.

Also , this game has a multiplayer mode. there are 4 modes , and they're all very fun . they are pirate battle (where you fight at sea with battleships ) , biplane dogfighting , co-op hacking , and cops and robbers(one player , Sly , has to steal 5 items and drop them off at certain points ,and the other player, carmelita , has to kill Sly 5 times)

I highly recommend this game to anyone , and I really think it's an awesome game that does a good combination of action , adventure , and stealth .
