This game takes the child through three separate 'blue's clues' hunts, plus three separate 'treasure map' hunts, all in the familiar setting of Steve's house and neighborhood. The puzzles are varied and interesting; each 'clue' leads to a mini-game which the child can return to again and again. There are plenty of small hidden things on each screen for the child to discover, and extensive live action video of Steve helping to lead the way. There is a high quality of art and music throughout the game (although the 'poetry' in some of the clues is dreadful.) Definitely recommended for children from the age they can use a mouse through 5 or 6.

My only problem with the game is that it comes on 2 CD's, which need to be swapped out halfway through the game my 2 year old is old enough to enjoy this game, but not old enough to be trusted with CD swapping. Also, I can't get the CD's to work with 'GameDrive8', which I use to mirror most of her games so that she doesn't need to swap CD's the game always looks for the CD in drive 'D:'.

I bought this game for my 4 year old sister for Christmas this year. She has been an avid fan of Blue's Clues since she was 2, and I decided to buy this game for her. Since she was upset over the gameplay in Blue's Birthday Adventure, she had more fun with this game and I have enjoyed playing it with her. I'd suggest this title to any Blue's Clues fan!!!!

This was exactly what I needed to fix my RROD error. It includes all the hardware necessary to replace both x clamps, and comes with a URL to PDFs explaining, with pictures, how to take apart your Xbox 360, remove the x clamps, and put it together the way Microsoft probably should have done in the first place.

Their instructions were clear and concise, and led me through the process step by step. There is only one thing I would change: at the end, instead of step-by-step directions for reassembly, the directions tell you to reverse the disassembly directions. Granted, I was able to do it, and I expect just about anyone with the courage to open their Xbox and void the warranty will also be able to figure it out. However, I was rather tired after disassembling and repairing my first ever Xbox, so it took a lot longer than it should have, and since I don't have any anti-static bags (yet) to keep the circuit boards in overnight, I didn't want to leave it disassembled.

Now granted, there are instructions for this process available several places online for free. I would not pay for just the instructions. However, since I was buying the hardware anyway, it was helpful to me to have the exact pieces I needed all in one place, with screws that match the original hardware so there's no need for drilling. Now I can go to the hardware store with actual examples of the screws and washers I need, rather than matching descriptions. I feel that the instructions, "included" in the kit by virtue of URLs on a little piece of paper, were still worth it. I appreciate them not sending out paper copies, because that way each purchaser can choose whether to print or display them electronically, whereas if they sent out paper copies, many people would wind up throwing them away because they don't need them, and paper would go to waste. However, you CAN get the instructions for free, and you are NOT paying for a paper manual with this kit. They send you a small card with URLs on it, which you then type into your favorite browser, and view them with your favorite PDF viewer. I don't see that as a downside, but someone might, so it's worth mentioning.

So, in short, this was exactly the kit I needed to do both the GPU and CPU, with the tools and paste I felt most comfortable using. I might go back and buy the Xbox opening tool, because it really is tricky to get the case apart by pushing the tabs one by one with a screwdriver without damaging it, and it seems like the tool might be faster. However, this kit gets the job done, and the instructions were clear enough to penetrate the fog in my head, caused by sudden Assassin's Creed withdrawal. Well done, 3redlightfix. Well done.

I bought this thing back in June because my 2 roommates and I had been burning through batteries like nobody's business. It was kind of confusing at first because the package said it was supposed to flash red at low power, flash red at a slower pace when at medium charge, then be solid green when it was fully charged. It just flashed continuously red all the time but it charged fine, so that was ok.

Just recently however, one of the battery packs stopped charging. The wiimote would sit on the pad and flash continuously as it normally does, then we'd try and use it and it would have absolutely no power whatsoever. Pushing a button on the wiimote didn't even cause one of the four lights on the bottom to flash at all. Wrote it off as a lost cause, but now my other battery pack doesn't charge either. Got a good few months out of it but for the price I'd much rather get at least a couple of years.

Reading the other reviews it seems like some of the panels work great and others only work for a few months and then sputter out. Sounds like a manufacturing defect to me. For this reason, I can't recommend this product. It was a great idea, really cool, looks sexy and is a great conversation piece (the phrase "inductive charging" tends to elicit lots of "oohs" and "ahhs") but now it's just a broken piece of equipment I spent 30 bucks on.... and now we're back to letting our wiimotes munch on Duracells.

This is a good item but, it was difficult to find replacement batteries. I went to Energizer.com and called the 800 number. I was transferred at least 4 times but the reps were very helpful and once I reached the right dept I was very pleased. The rep took my information and they are sending me replacement batteries free of charge. If you need replacement batteries call: 1-800-331-3844 Website: hope this helps someone.

I just picked up this charger last night and I will update this review later but I did want to mention one thing. I have found out through reading reviews that several other induction chargers will not charge the black wii remotes with the black silicone sleeve on. Supposedly because it is to thick. THIS CHARGE DOES CHARGE THE BLACK WII REMOTES WITH THE BLACK SILICON COVERS ON!!! I set the controllers to charge overnight so I am not sure if the black and white controllers charge just as fast or what but I will update this review after a while of use. I just wanted people out there with black wii remotes to know that this will work for them. The only catch is the battery cover is white but that doesn't matter if you put your black sleeve back on. Other than that the charger seems great. It glows red when its charging and green when its done. Simple.

Honest reviews on Wii Energizer Flat Panel 2x Induction Charger

I've tried other rechargeable battery inserts to no avail. This one is great! It's easy to use and I've never had the batteries run out during game play yet. Also, unlike other flat panel induction chargers, there are no weird clips or attachments to put onto the remote while it's charging you just drop the controller off and walk away.

It's perfect. Well worth the price.

Dont even bother purchasing. Right out of the box, one of the batteries failed, giving a blinking red battery light. I returned the item and received another one which stopped working after 1 charge on each battery. Both batteries give the blinking red light now.

Since i was unable to recharge the energizer batteries anymore, i recently purchased a pack of Sanyo Eneloop batteries. I noticed they were lasting a lot longer than the one charge i had on the enrgizer batteries. So out of curiousity,i took apart the Energizer battery cases apart and found they were using AAA batteries (not AA) with 600mAh of juice. The Eneloop AA batteries which i used with my Wii controllers were 2000mAh. Even their AAA batteries had more juice at 800mAh. You might as well get a set of normal batteries. Not only will they last longer but they will work!

Time passes really fast when you are playing this game. The first six hours went by in the blink of an eye yesterday ... my character is at level 10 and I feel like I have barely scratched the surface of anything. If you like these kinds of games, you will be hooked because Bethesda has managed to create something which really nails it on every level. I am a heavily magic oriented player so I spent most of my time so far in the mages' guild in winterhold. For some reason though the Dark Brotherhood wants me dead and sent an assassin to kill me. I was just messing around with some conjuration spells in a forest glen and the assassin was killed by this flame creature I had conjured before I even knew what was going on. Looted the body and found a note saying they want me dead. Stuff like that just happens and it is awesome. Dungeons btw are really fun and very well designed.

I do have one gripe that I see has been addressed by some other reviewers who gave a low rating for the game on amazon. That is that you have to pause the action to switch spells. In Oblivion, I could instantly switch spells with the d-pad and then cast them with RB while wielding a sword and shield. In Skyrim, you must assign a spell to one hand or the other, so it kind of feels like you have lost your RB button. I can understand this complaint.

However, if you have posted about this, keep in mind that your RB button is not idle. It has been reserved for shouts, and you will obtain shouts eventually although you have to play along the main quest until you get the first one. I have none as yet because I am focused on the mages' guild for now. However once you do you get shouts, you can instantly cast them with RB while also dual wielding whatever you choose.

The bottom line though is that this game is basically like Oblivion on steroids. If you liked Oblivion and spent 200+ hours playing it like I did, you will be addicted to Skyrim. Having playing all through yesterday and now it's 4 am and I'm getting up to play some more rather than get some sleep, this is probably the best game I've ever played. That's a lot of praise coming from a life long gamer. Again, so long as you like RPG's as opposed to say, MW3 (which a lot of people are playing non stop right now as well), this is the game for you. BTW $65 almost feels like a very low price if you were to actually measure out how many hours you are going to spend playing this game over the next year or so, and divide it by $65. I could spend $65 in a heartbeat at say, a Jets game at the Meadowlands, but that money goes a LONG way when playing Skyrim.

To sum up...why am I wasting my time typing this review? Time to go play Skyrim.

First and foremost, I have to give props to the art department at Bethesda. The art direction for this game is so far above earlier titles that even comparing them to this game is utterly pointless. Its literally in a class by itself and this is evident everywhere you look. The most obvious and impressive improvement has to be the design of the clothing, armor and weapons. The intricate designs are truly breathtaking. Even the cheap equipment you first start off with is stunning. For example, one of the first shields your introduced to in the game is the Hide Shield and its absolutely beautiful. Large metal rivets circle the outer diameter and intricate designs adorn the leather. It even has the dents and nicks one would expect to see from a shield that has seen its fair share of battle. This attention to detail is seen everywhere and it goes right down to the bindings of the books and the crackle glazed dishes and pottery found adorning most tables and halls. When you add this to the significant improvement in graphics....well, what you get is a level of realism that simply blows earlier titles out of the water. This is hands down the best art direction I have ever seen from a video game and ultimately it gives this world a level of realism that we simply haven't seen before.

The world itself is absolutely beautiful. One of the first open scenes I came across was a large flowing river that had huge rocks jetting up creating white water/rapids. Large mountains were in the background with wisps of clouds running all up and down the side of the mountain. It was absolutely stunning. I had to just stop and stare for a few moments. The draw distance has been significantly increased and the detail, as I wrote up above, is amazing. The landscape itself is just one big work of art. Traveling around and discovering the land for yourself has always been one of the big enjoyments for fans of this series. Well, Skyrim doesn't disappoint in this regard. In fact, this is easily the best title yet in regards to this aspect of the game. No other game series can compete with the size and scope of the worlds that Bethesda creates for this series and no other game in the Elder Scrolls series even comes close to matching what Bethesda has achieved this time around with Skyrim. They have significantly leapfrogged anything and everything they have done in the past.

An issue I feel compelled to discuss is the huge improvement with the 3rd person perspective in this game. As I am sure people are aware, 3rd person perspective in Oblivion was pretty bad. Actually, it was awful. You could switch over for short periods but the game was pretty much unplayable from that perspective. Well, the improvement Bethesda has made in this aspect of the game is nothing short of amazing. Your character no longer looks like he is walking on air and your easily able to interact with your environment. Basically this game is now wholly playable from this perspective. I prefer playing in 3rd person perspective when I am just traveling around and its just really nice to see Bethesda finally take the proper steps to fix this aspect of this series. If your going to include it than at least make it playable and Bethesda has done just that.

You can immediately tell that this is an Elder Scrolls game but dont let that fool you. There are a lot of changes behind Skrim. One of the most obvious changes is with the skill system. The skills themselves are pretty much the same. You have Alchemy, Illusion, Conjuration, Destruction, Restoration, Alteration, Enchanting, Heavy Armor, Light Armor, Block, One Handed, Two Handed, Archery, Sneak, Lockpicking, Pickpocket, Speech and a new one Smithing. The big difference lies in the fact that you now have specialty skills for each skill category and there are multiple branching paths one can take. For example, the Stealth skill has two different branches that one can take, one that focuses on stealth (Muffled Movement, Light Foot, Silent Roll, ect.) and one that focuses on blade skills (Backstab, Deadly aim, and Assassins blade). This ultimately adds a significant amount of depth to character progression and it also adds to the games re-playability factor as there are now so many different avenues one can take. On top of this there are no longer character classes. You still have the different races of character to choose from but choosing a class is history. What kind of character you become (Spellcaster, Fighter etc.) is solely dependent on the skills you choose to upgrade or in other words its dependent on how you play your character. Personally I love this new system as it doesn't lock you into a specific mold for your character and it leaves everything open for you to explore. Its just a far more organic system and ultimately I think its a significant step forward for this series in regards to character development.

Another big change is with the menu system and this is easily one of the best changes made in this game. The new menu system is just far more intuitive. Basically the menu system has been broken down into 4 distinct categories. There is Skills, Items, Map, and Magic. You have to press the menu button to access the menu but once you do that, you no longer need to press buttons. Simply press the left stick in the direction of the menu you want and it automatically changes. Once you have done this, a new subsystem of selections will come up and pressing the left stick to the right will take you to the next menu and so on. No button pressing needed. Basically the left thumb stick controls all of your movements within the menu system, with no button pressing needed. I may not have described it very well but its hands down one of the best menu systems I have ever used. Again, its just a far more intuitive system and it just has a great feel to it. You never leave the main screen when accessing menu's. It just blurs out a bit and acts as a background to the menus themselves. This basically does two things, it helps to keep the menus from detracting from the game itself and it ultimately makes the menu system far more attractive. They have also updated the item menu with 3 dimensional representations of the in game items. You can now spin items around a 360 degree axis, both vertical and horizontal. Its a small detail but a very cool one, especially for the weapons and armor.

I also have to mention the skill menu as the way they have graphically laid this system out is...well, its nothing short of stunning. Each individual skill is represented by a constellation in the sky and beautiful gaseous nebula act as a background to the constellations. The visual effect is gorgeous. You can cycle left or right through the skills/constellations and when you access the branching skill set associated with each skill, you suddenly zoom into the constellation itself and the different branching skills are suddenly represented by the individual stars in that particular constellation. Its kind of difficult to properly explain but trust me, the effect is not only stunning, its also nothing short of ingenious. Its EASILY one of the best, if not the best, molds of form and function I have seen yet in videogames. Words simply cant do this games art direction justice. It really has to be seen firsthand to be fully appreciated.

Combat has also been overhauled and what we wind up with is a system that is far more fluid, and ultimately a lot more fun, than previous releases. Characters are now able to duel wield both weapons and spells and can even mix up the two. In other words, you can assign a sword to one hand and a spell to another hand or you can go with a staff in one hand and a spell in the other. You can mix it up anyway you want. This new system fits perfectly with the new character system (that being one with no character classes). By adding so many options in regards to how to approach combat, they have essentially added strategy to the mix, something that was entirely lacking in Oblivion. Well, short of actually picking what character class you were actually going to play in oblivion. Basically the combat is just far superior to what we had with Oblivion. Unfortunately you can no longer assign weapons and spells to the D-pad and this is really one of my only complaints with the game. I dont understand why Bethesda decided to get rid of this. They could have even split the D-pad field in two, to accommodate the dual wielding nature of the game. In other words, they could have made the 4 slots on the left for the left hand and the 4 right slots on the right for the right hand. That would still have given you 4 quick slots for each hand.

There are lots of other aspects to this game that have been updated but I will leave the rest of them for the player to discover and while there are lots of new additions to Skyrim, fortunately there is also a lot that hasn't changed. Traveling is still done the same way. Once you have actually discovered a location you have the option to fast travel to that location. There are still lots of different factions that one can join, all of which have additional quests associated with them. You can still go about playing the game as you want. You still collect herbs and ingredients for potions. There are still hundreds of different books that one can read. I could go on and on and on and on. This is an Elder Scrolls game after all and Bethesda has kept the heart of the game intact and that is a very good thing indeed. I wont go into the story aspect of this game as I hate spoilers. I will just say that the main story line is fantatstic and is really the icing on the cake.

Bottom line I am a huge Elder Scrolls fan and I have been watching this game since it was first announced. To say my expectations were extremely high would be a massive understatement. With that being said, Skyrim is everything that I hoped for and then some. It hasn't just raised the bar, its launched it into the stratosphere. If your an Elder Scrolls fan then buying this should be a no brainer. This is the kind of game people buy consoles for and this is easily Bethesda's best work yet in regards to this series. They have just taken this franchise to a whole new level. Thankfully, I have lots of time in the coming months to discover all that this game has to offer and make no mistake about it, what this game has to offer....well, its limited only by the amount of time you spend with it.

Outstanding, simply outstanding!

5 Stars!

Best Deals for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Xbox 360

Oh, my. Well, I have been playing Oblivion since its release (about 7 characters that got around level 47, with about 300 hours each), and now, finally, last night (midnight launch, yay). I was able to start playing Skyrim. This IS one of the very few games that "lives up to the hype." I know I don't have to go into detail, those of you who are also playing it, especially if you have been along for the Elder Scrolls evolution journey, know EXACTLY what I am talking about. Those few of you trolls, that like to post poor reviews on games like this, just to get all of us riled up, guess what, I just ignore you.

Anyway, this will be sort of brief, because, first, I only have a few hours in (dang it I fell asleep at about 0400), and, more importantly, after this I'm getting right back to it. Without being too "spoilery," as they say at Bethesda, you start out (as usual), as a prisoner. You get asked a question that throws you into "character creation." Something happens (like last time) that will facilitate your escape. This first "quest" is basically a tutorial for you; like last time, once you exit this area and come out into the world, you are free to either continue the main story quest, or do whatever you like. Also as before, you have picked up quite a bit of gear relative to your beginning encumbrance (I started at 300). So, first thing I did of course, was look for a shop, and sold most of that stuff off, and made me some gold. Right now, I'm just exploring on my own; I already have the next stops in the main quest, and about 5 other side or miscellaneous quests, acquired by just talking to folks, in my journal.

On the difference in "skills" and "leveling:" I like it. The way it works now, instead of simply getting to 50 in a skill, and becoming a "journeyman," when you level up (I'm level 2 now), you go to a menu that looks like constellations in the skey, and you pick whether to increase your Health, Magicka, or Stamina. Then, comes the cool part...you receive a "perk;" you can either spend the perk you receive then, or save it for later. You can use a perk when you meet the skill level it requires, and have the pre-requisite perk already (i.e. you can't use one perk to jump from novice to master...you have to move up the 'skill tree' in order). What all this means is, YOU can select what you become expert at; you can be a warrior character and rise quickly to master of illusion etc. I like this MUCH better than Oblivion's "rest and meditate on what you have learned," etc.

The main reason the Elder Scrolls games are my favorites is, they are that rare "open world" "open choice" game. You can do the main quest, and nothing else. You can spend hundreds of hours wandering on your own, clearing out caves, fighting bandits, etc, and never touch any quests at all. You can do a faction quest, and nothing else. You can be a good knight (if you don't do the theives guild/dark brotherhood quests), or go around killing everyone you see. It's ALL up to you.

Well I can't stand it, I'm going to save this review, and go play Skyrim for the rest of the day. If you have the game, you know what I'm talking about. if you don't, get it. The words highly recommended don't do it justice. As far as how I would rate it: 5 out of 5 10 out of 10, you get the idea.

Ok really, I'm going now. GET THIS GAME.

Honest reviews on Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Xbox 360

Greetings! Yes, this game is ridiculously great. I'll put this review down in three short parts: (1) for those who are new to the Elder Scrolls; (2) for the veterans of Elder Scrolls / Fallout 3 / sandbox games; (3) general thoughts and comments about the game itself.

Quick background: I was madly in love with Morrowind and Fallout 3; I wasn't too crazy about Oblivion for many reasons, which are irrelevant right now. I loathe standard FPS games with linear storytelling and rinse-repeat trigger-twitching action. I play old school dungeons and dragons (paper and pencils, yes) and Lord of the Rings is the greatest fantasy tale ever (along with the Belgariad).

(1) For the unblooded: the open world of Skyrim can and will be daunting; you aren't given any clear-cut goals--or maybe you're given too many! That deer in the headlights, "what do I do now?", sensation is perfectly normal. Sit back and imagine yourself in an alternate reality; exactly, now you have it! Figure out the controls and character management stuff (read the dang manual!) and the rest is completely up to your imagination! Save your game often (every time you do something, basically) and experiment with anything you can think of; in no time flat, you'll realize this game is amazing.

(2) For the grognards: assuming you've played Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3, then Skyrim will feel comfy. It feels bigger and more inspiring thanks to the soaring mountains and the astounding soundtrack. The action is fantastic and the new addition of trigger dual-wielding is a lot of fun--experiment with all the combinations (like smacking a foe with fire & ice spells simultaneously).

Bethesda really simplified character creation and levelling, but they added in a robust Perk tree for every skill that presents a bewildering array of choices; I mean bewildering in that it's agonizing to choose which one to choose! The Perks actually have a dramatic impact on the game though, so whatever direction you go is bound to be exciting.

The interface is a lot cleaner and easier to access than any game before, including Fallout. I'd say Skyrim is closer to Fallout in terms of how it feels when you're playing, but the world feels unique and interesting like it was in Morrowind; the best of both worlds, baby. Dragons are fantasy at its best, and they feel appropriately tough. The best encounters come when the dragon roars and swoops overhead, building up that anticipation; there are different types of them, so be wary if you beat one down easily because the next one might not be so cake.

(3) General thoughts: I haven't had the game crash, not even once. The load times off the HDD are less than 30 seconds and much shorter for small transitions like shops. There are definitely some graphic hiccups and texture issues, but it's not constant nor bad enough to break the spell of immersion. There is so much to do in this game that you could easily stay in one province of Skyrim and max out your level.

Be careful with the difficulty setting, as some enemies are nearly indestructable on anything but normal, whereas the toughest enemies are sometimes far too easy when the difficulty is lowered. You'll notice classic Elder Scroll follies, like a bandit kingpin beating you down faster than a pair of angry dragons--but that's present in almost every game that tries to keep it challenging. It's better than Oblivion and much more like Fallout 3.

The best character and most amazing thing about Skyrim is the world itself. I've spent time simply gazing at the aurora lights or galactic clouds visible in the night sky; I've stood atop a lonely mountain in a snowstorm and just listened to the noise; I've stalked massive elk through sun-dappled pine forests; I've floated on an iceberg in the Sea of Ghosts, watching veils of fog swallow the land; I've walked with herds of mammoths across the tundra; I've delved into forgotten, undead-haunted halls where the slightest noise sends chills up your spine.

Enjoy, my friends.

After having played 80 hours into the game, I feel a review is in order (not that my opinion really matters)

Gameplay 10/10

-Combat: The combat in this game is a fast improvement over Oblivion. The excitement of a stealth kill, the brutality of the blade and the twang of the bow are felt deeper in this game than in the predecessors. I play a cleric-type character, mainly using one-handed and destruction magic as my main offensive abilities. The perks in one-handed really allow for some visceral additions to the already brutal finishing moves. The game seems to know when you the enemy really deserves what's coming and delivers every time. I don't find much hand-holding in the game; as a player you need to watch what spells you use and who you swing at, else your allies might fall. I find this adds some realism and removes wanton slaughter for the moral characters among us.

-Character: Leveling is vastly improved since Oblivion and certainly over Morrowind. What you use, you level. You don't need to plan everything and loose tracking of the game itself. I play the game to immerse myself in the environments and story, not to powergame. The perk system allows for very creative combinations, enabling the player to devise conjuror-warriors, healer-archers and anything in between. I enjoy how each decision matters with perks, and I enjoy pouring over the options before me. I find the changes to the magic system allow for more original character concepts than previously seen in other games. Want to play a necromancer? You can do it. Want to play the person that hunts necromancers? I did. I love it.

The character creation is improved in most ways compared to other ES games. I do wish the flexibility of Oblivion's face generator was present, but the options given are certainly flexible and far more believable. Each character has a realistic grit to it. A few improvements could be more hair models, a height modifier, and better eye colors.

-Crafting: I am beyond happy to see the addition of crafting into the series; it adds such life and extension to the gameplay. I however wish the perks that would go into the crafting trees would be separate from the combat trees. Aside from this, it's a wonderful system and I thoroughly enjoy mining, crafting and cooking at my home in Whiterun.

Setting 9/10

The setting of Skyrim is breathtaking. The variety of environments is beautiful and constantly reminds the player they're not in Cyrodiil anymore. I enjoy rivers pulling me downstream, storms blinding my vision and steep mountains to conquer. All is not harsh though. Areas like the Rift and the Reach demonstrate an alpine beauty while the marshes surrounded Solitude evoke a sense of tension and horror. The spiders that dwell there only further this emotion.

Of course no discussion of Skyrim's setting would be complete without mentioning the Dragons which plague the realm. Fighting a dragon is an experience. They hunt you and they hunt everything around you. While some younger dragons are easy pickings for higher-leveled characters, an Elder Dragon or Ancient Dragon poses a serious threat to a town and to the player. That being said, it's a welcome challenge with a nice reward.

Story 8/10:

I don't want to give away much here in the way of spoilers, but I have enjoyed the story. The player is given a sense of conflict woven into the very nature of Skyrim as a nation. Each town is replete with conflict and I am surprised at the variety of quests in the game. I do feel that where the game shines in exploration and combat, the factions are scarce and the quests are few. In comparison to older titles like Morrowind, I found myself aching for more factions to engage in. The game makes up for this by adding Radiant quests, repeatable endeavours. While the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood and Companions offer solid questlines, I found the College of Winterhold to be the cold cousin of the Mages Guild. Lore drops were wondeful but sometimes were left at a cliffhanger. It is important to realize there are two main quests. The Civil War and the fight against Alduin. They both play into each and strike at the heart of what it means to be in Skyrim.

Interface 7/10

The interface is touchy issue for many people. While it is certainly not game breaking or horrible, it doesn't feel improved over Oblivion's. I find it a poor design choice to cause the game to pause to scroll through the favorites list. While the dual wielding expanding choices, I find the interface crude but effective in accomplishing its goals. Personal information is hard to get to and I find important information hard to get to. One small nuisance I have noticed is the inability to remove markers placed by the player on the map.

Overall: 8.5 / 10

Skyrim is a must have title and a wonderful addition the Elder Scrolls series. Technical issues and interface issues are the only things that tarnish this otherwise shining Glass Shield.

Just purchased my first WII at the new reduced price. Wanted a new shooter that came with it's own gun peripheral. The Top Shot Wii sawed off shotgun peripheral worked well once I got the right configuration selected from the options. The game controls are very intuitive and the first few levels of the game that I have played through have proven enjoyable enough without being too difficult. The continue is a great help whenever you come to an untimely demise and being pretty much of a pacifist, I find the action fairly comfortably paced. Someone who is pickier about constant action, high intensity and challenge from a first person shooter, probably would find this a bit of a yawner, but as a recreational hunting simulation it definitely satisfies. Of course there is the familiar problem with occasional invisible walls, but from what I've seen in video reviews of other hunting games, it is fairly minimal. The multiplayer is reminiscent of Deer Drive with a lot larger variety of animals. I have had gamers between the age of 10 to 74 play this game and it appeals to all age groups.

Bought this game about two weeks ago, and I think it's alot of fun. It has 2 modes of play one where you go on "missions" seeking out certain animals, sneaking through cover and getting points and medals based on how well you shoot. The second mode of play is a shooting gallery, where the animals just run across the screen and you try to shoot as many of them as you can. Think of the Big Buck Hunter arcade game that they have in some bars. I enjoyed the missions, but I've pretty much already beat the game didn't take too long. The shooting gallery is fun if you have friends over and just want to shoot alot. The shooting gallery is multi-player, but you're not shooting at the same time you take turns and it compares the score.

I really like the big orange shotgun and think it works well. Gives you more of a "Big Buck Hunter" arcade game feel. Controls are fairly intuitive. The trigger is actually up on the barrel, and the scope button is where the trigger should be, which took a second to figure out, but actually works well. I unlocked a bunch of guns while playing in the Mission mode, but I have no idea how to use them or where to find them.

This is the frist hunting game I've bought for my wii, so I can't really compare it to any others. However, I like it and my guy friends like to stop by and shoot stuff with me. Good fun and $40 is reasonable, although its not a long or complicated game.

Remember Tigerwoods 2010, the xbox and ps3 version looked amazing in the graphics dept., but the wii version was just so much more fun to play.

same deal here. the xbox demo looks pretty but no light gun. Wii version looks muddy graphic-wise but shooting with the shotgun that comes with the game is a serious blast.

plus the Wii has 13 shooting galleries, in addition to the career mode, were you try to blow away as many animals as possible in a time limit.

As far as any other issues in the game i would only mention that navigating in the main career mode can be a little tricky,

i kept on running into cliff walls, trees, and looking up at the sky, you gotta swing the shotgun every time you want to look around.

all in all, i'm giving this game 3 stars just because the graphics look so horrible compared to the other next gen versions. gameplay is great.

I picked up the Top Shot bundle on sale for $, wouldn't really pay more than that for it.

Honest reviews on Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010 with Gun Bundle

I'm 65 years old, and I love this game. I've stomped the hills for deer and elk a lot in my lifetime, and though I don't get out much anymore, this game is a great substitute. You can play it without being a hunter, but you won't score well. You can kill the animals without much hunting skill, but to get silver and gold medals, you have to be patient and hunt just like you do in the wild, with stalking skills and knowing when to take the shot. I like the fact that if you're unhappy with your score on a hunt, you can replay the hunt as many times you want to improve your score. The Top Shot gun works very well with the Wii remote and nunchuck; the Z button on the nunchuck serves as the trigger and is very realistic. I highly recommend this game if you're a hunter.

My dad and I played this game all day and we're one level short of beating it. Which is a real bummer because it's a blast. There are 12 missions, each mission is comprised of 6-7 hunts. 3-4 of the hunts are for big game, 2 for small game or fowl, and usually you must either hunt or are attacked by dangerous game.

The controls are great, make sure you get the Top Shot gun, it's a very good peripheral. The default settings are moronic as the trigger is up by the barrel but the Top Shot control setting puts the trigger in the back by the grip where it belongs. I recommend switching to Top Shot control immediately and then playing the first career mission as it will walk you through the controls.

You are awarded points for examining sign you're asked to press 'C' to examine sign and it's worth it to poke the button for the points. You also get points for shooting animals from cover; there are always 2-5 cover areas with different point values, you get 10, 20, 30, & 50% multipliers for finding and using these covers you get the most points if you stalk through all of them and then shoot from the 50% marker. It's actually a lot of fun because you have to sneak around the animals avoiding noisy brush and ducking their line of sight.

Once you put your sights on an animal, the vitals light up, also some info about the critter. The second you put the crosshairs on it, the points start going down so it pays to shoot quickly. You get points for a lung shot but you get more for a spine or heart shot. It's fun to make head shots but they feed you this crap about "wrecking the trophy" so you don't get many points.

Bullet cam is fun but if you'd rather watch them crumple up in the scope you can turn the feature off. I like bullet cam myself.

You will pass the hunt if you kill the animal but if you rack up some points you will be awarded a bronze, silver, or gold medal. In order to unlock new hunting areas, you need more experience points which are most easily earned by getting medals or better medals on the hunts.

It's a short game but the hunts are fun to revisit and shoot for gold. Also, the Shooting Gallery cannot be beat, it's extremely fun! The animals just keep on coming, kill as many as you can extremely fun. The dangerous game sections are hard because the Bears/Cougars/Leopards charge you 1 at a time, then in pairs, and 3's until you're dead FUN!

From what I've read, this is the best hunting game you can get and other, earlier versions are disappointing. I eagerly await the next Cabela's/Activision release.

With all the high quality football games on the market, there's really only one final determining factor for your purchase: personal preference. If you're a Madden fan, you'll probably buy Madden. Same with the 2K series or Blitz or whatever else floats your boat. I happen to be a Fever fan, so when Fever 2003 came out, it didn't take me long to decide which one I was going to buy.

For those of you in the "undecided" bracket, let me plead the case. Fever is a great game. To me, it is somewhere in the middle of 2k3's great graphics and Maddens realistic play. I think it's the most well rounded of the football games. There are lots of plays, and they're easy to understand. The Dynasty mode is by far the best in any game, in my opinion, and the play editor is easy to use. The big reason for X-box owners to get Fever is that it will be a marquee game on the new X-Box Live platform.

For those of you who've already played 2002, there are only a few subtle changes to 2003. Probably only die-hard fans will notice anything past the roster changes. The graphics are only slightly improved over 2002, and it looks like the exact same engine. I guess they figured if it aint broke, don't fix it. The tackles and runs are far more animated than in 2002 which showed the same tackles over and over. While the engine is pretty much the same, the shading and lighting has improved, and the weather features look a little more realistic, especially field damage.

Once you get past the superficial aspects of the game, you can tell there have been other needed changes.

1. Defense: the secondary is much more of a threat than in 2002. The computer still passes 99% of the time (unfortunately) and instead of confronting the key issue and making the comp stay on the ground more, the secondary is better at blocking passes and breaking up plays. The A.I. is much imroved. If you throw all the time like the comp does, the secondary will adapt and become more aggressive. If you try to run every play, the same thing will occur. It becomes more obvious when playing the computer, but it's also a major factor when playing against friends.

2. Officiating. Anyone who played 2002 knows there were only about 2 calls the refs ever gave unless you accidentally encroached or made a false start on your own. One was holding, the other was pass interference. The officiating seems a lot tighter in 2003, and there's a lot mroe going on with the A.I controlled characters. I've already heard one too many "holding" calls, but I guess you can't eliminate it completely.

3. Dynasty mode. Not much has changed here, but one major difference is the way players improve. First, they improve far more slowly and less dramatic than in 2002. Having a stellar game in the box score does not guarantee improvement. In fact, I'm not sure what does. On them same side of that coin, it's also difficult to get worse. One cool feature is, after every game, they show you exactly who did or didn't improve. It saves you the trouble of having to go to management after every game.

4. Gameplay: Overall, the teams are a lot more balanced than in 2002. I think they've obviously tried to represent the salary caps this way. There are dominant teams, but they're not as dominanat as in 2002 where the margins were often huge. Teams and players now average somewhere in the 80's, and there are a lot fewer players with overall ratigns higher than 90. Far fewer than last year. I think they're trying to avoid players with unrealistic ratings that can achieve the superhuman (Cory Dillan on 2002 for example). This is probably the most dramatic change, and the one that is bound to have a big impact on people used to dominating on 2002. I used to play on the veteran or all-pro setting, but I'm getting my a$$ waxed at anything higher than novice right now.

Bottom line: if you liked Fever before, you'll still like it. They've done a lot to make the game more realisitc, without becoming tediously realistic. If you didn't like Fever, you probably still won't. Stick with what you like and stop hating. To each their own.

First off, I'm a huge EA Sports Fan, and have been playing Madden since way back in the day. I just bought my X-Box, and wanted the best football game to start things off. Trust me, I don't buy with haste, and these past few weeks, I've been collecting material on all three of the biggie football titles on X-Box (Fever, Madden, NFL2K), and trying to decide...

Well, I just played my first full game, of Fever 2003, and I really had nothing to complain about. The graphics are very crisp, and clear, and there is a very good amount of detail, although the players faces do tend to be generic looking.

The sound (I have surround dolby 5.1) was realistic to the sport, and it was fun to hear slightly muted sounds of the opposing team yelling out taunts to you. The announcers worked well, and I was pleased with the commentary, although at some points it does get repetative.

The gameplay, which is the biggie, worked well. There was good responce from the controller, and the timing is right on. If you have played Fever 2002, it is very similar, with a few minor upgrades...all in all, It's a fun time, and if you're not into the very technical Madden, this is a fun game to own.

At this time, Madden 2003 is yet to be released...I'm going to rent it, and if it's better, you better believe I'm returning Fever for it...on a side note, NCAA 2003 is a fab football game too, if you dig the college scene.

Best Deals for NFL Fever 2003 (Xbox)

Well, I was intrigued to see if Microsoft could complete another quality football game from scratch for 2003. After playing the game at my friends house for the first time, I decided two things. One, it is identical in gameplay/graphics to Fever 2003. Two, Kevin Calabro should stick to Seattle Sonic basketball commentating. After getting NFL Fever 2002 for christmas last year, I decided that it was way better than Madden for many reasons. The main reason was my ignorance. I hadnt even played Madden and thought it was terrible. Since that time, I have changed my mind. Both Madden and NCAA 2003 (another EA title) are dominant over the Fever series (or duo rather). EA sports is the clear dominant contendor in the XBOX football competition and I plan on buying Madden 2003 as well as NCAA 2003 now that I know how much better they are in terms of graphics, gameplay and commentating (Lee Corso is hilarious on NCAA). Overall, if you liked Fever 2002, save your money and keep playing it. If you didn't, don't expect this one to have anything the '02 version didn't. Stick to EA Sports if you're into realism. Microsoft knows how to create very arcade like, unrealistic games, which caters to a certain crowd, yet realism is my department, so I have to go with EA.

Honest reviews on NFL Fever 2003 (Xbox)

Finally a game that has the nice graphics WITH the realistic game speed. PLaying at the rookie level makes it easy, but if you just turn it up to Veteran level, then the computer opponents are significantly tougher. This game will also be great for online playing when Xbox Live goes live in November. Now I can't wait to see how Madden 2003 and Sega NFL 2K3 has responded to the challenge from NFL Fever 2003. Football on Xbox has never been this good, and I hope Madden and 2K3 also has taken advantage of Xbox's capabilities.

I bought NFL Fever 2003 for my Xbox because I wanted to be able to play it on Xbox Live, the new internet gaming service. I had played it a few times with my friends and I found it quite fun, so I got it. After playing it more and more, I have found certain flaws in the gameplay. These include interceptions and dropped passes when it seems impossible or an easy catch, certain plays that work every single time no matter what. I am not someone that is very interested in the stats and building a team from scratch. I think this game would be good for people like that, because of the Dynasty mode, where one can trade players, make their own plays and even make their own players. For someone not looking for a perfect or totally realistic football game, Nfl Fever is a great choice. Also, for online gamers, looking for a football game, this is one many people have and is good online. I would not reccomend it to anyone that gets frustrated easily when things happen that should not happen, or it seems like the computer always gets the call, or the pass caught or whatever it may be. Overall a fun game, but not perfect.

First of all, let me say that I own both NBA Live 2004 and ESPN NBA, and that hands down this game is the better one of the two. It's a very solid hoops game, but it still has some problems.

The GOOD: Amazing graphics. Accurate player faces for EVERY SINGLE player in the league! The graphics blow Live away it's not even funny. The control also feels less frantic and more precise than Live, and the ISOmotion control, while clearly ripped off from Live's Freestyle, works pretty well. The 24/7 mode, which allows you to build a baller and play a variety of mini games and contests, is fun and addictive. It's not perfect, as some of the objectives are frustrating or boring, but it's a neat innovation that some lesser companies would sell as a separate game! The depth of customization is amazing, especially in terms of gameplay sliders, meaning the game can be as arcady or realistic as you like. The passing is much improved, and the commentary is decent. Tons of unlockables (teams, gear, courts) make this game addictive as well! Overall, a great game.

The Bad: Camera angles. So many developers overlook this, the most fundamental presentation element of any game. 2K3 had virtually infinite camera angles, since you could customize angle of elevation, zoom, etc for each camera. This year, we have... 5, and they all stink. You get to choose between "behind the player" and a couple of utterly useless "sideline" angles which give you no depth perception at all. Limited customization of your player is also a downer, given the attention to detail elsewhere. There are only a handful of faces and skin-tones, and they're pretty generic.

The Ugly: Some Isomotion moves feel out-of-control and result in you turning the ball over. I can't stand the stats layout, it feels pretty kindergarten.

Wish list for 2K5: More camera angles, more ESPN content like post-game interviews/player of the week extras, more player model customization, more intuitive menus.

This game is just amazing, from the movement of the uniforms, to the animations, to the best gameplay I have ever played in a basketball game, I mean, hands down this game is number one. The graphics were a HUGE upgrade from last years 2k3 Every player model is perfect (cept for Kobe's Tattoo) I mean SPOT ON. I also think the effect of the jersey swaying and moving when going in for a dunk or a lay-up is sooo sweet. The gameplay is outstanding, I absolutely LOVE the ISO-Motion It really adds so much to the game. The commentary isnt the best, but it isnt the worst either. Tom tolbert does an okay job being that its his rookie year in video games. But the crowd and music is awesome. I Love the AI difficulty, that rocks. everything else is good too. Like the 24/7 mode, I found it okay, maybe i just need to play it more. Thats all I have I give it a 9.8 out of 10

Best Deals for ESPN NBA Basketball 2k4 - Xbox

I got this game last christmas and I've had trouble

putting the control down. The new 24/7 mode is a good

addition. You go around courts play different kind of

games.... One on one, Two on Two, no turbo and all kinds

of things. It does at times get alittle repetitive and

annoying.. But once you have finished it you will feel

like it was a good accomplishment.

The graphics are pretty decent... But there are alot of

options on this game. I've always liked the sliders but

better than the standard EASY, MEDIUM, HARD stuff. You

can adjust everything from the shoot percentages to the

steals and even double teams and such. The players move

up and down the court depending on what you have the

options set on. You can slow the players down which tends

to lead to lower scoring games or go full blast to turn

it closer to arcade. The one thing that bothers me is the

lack of runable plays. You have 4 standard offenses and it

feels like it was dumbed down for the bandwagon fans to be

able to operate it. When facing the computer on harder

levels the lack of plays makes it alittle together and

sometimes turns the game into one on one trying to beat

your man. Another thing that gets on my nerves is that

you can't make adjustments to the Bobcats roster. WHY???

I don't think you can even pick the franchise in franchise

mode. Speaking of the franchise mode, it's fairly good on

here... Depending on which team. I choose the Lakers do to

the big cap they have. A big problem is the contracts. One

thing I don't like is that you can't re-sign FA's until

they're contracts is up... That really gets on my nerves.

The other modes are pretty much run of the mill.

Pros:

-Lots of options

-24/7 Mode

-NBA draft workout thing is cool

-Decent one on one mode

-Good legends teams

-Iso Motion

good detailed players

Cons:

-Post game is mediocre

-Can't adjust the Bobcats team in any way

-Can't re-sign players before contracts are up

-If the computer steals the ball from you it counts

as two turnovers instead of one

-Lack of plays. Sorry, some people like more than 4 lousy

plays.

Honest reviews on ESPN NBA Basketball 2k4 - Xbox

I just got my Xbox and this ESPN basketball game a few days ago, and although it's fun, I have to say that it's not quite as good as the EA NBA Live 2004 game. I've played the EA game on my brother's Playstation 2 and found the game-play to be a LOT more fun and dramatic.

The ESPN only has one shoot button, whereas the EA game's 2 buttons allows you to shoot a jumper or go for a dunk. Also, the freestyle stick in the EA game is much more functional. With ESPN, 3 out of 4 times when I use the "iso-motion" stick i get called for charging. That's a load of c---. Why is it there?

Another thing I like about the EA game is that the camera gets in closer to the action. With the ESPN game I don't feel as involved in the action. I feel like I'm in the stands.

I also prefer the audio on the EA game. The commentators are more verbose and excited. (And the music is better.)

Overall, the ESPN is a good game, but it just seems a bit more clunky than the Electronic Arts NBA Live game. So my recommendation: spend your cash on the Electronic Arts ball game.

Ok lets get real here. Before you read this please understand that I've spent an unbelievable amount of time on Sega basketball games in the past. That's why I know so much about it because I used to play it so much. With that said, it's obvious that sega sports (now espn) was just in a hurry to rush this game out. Your supposed to improve on games not make them worse. Sega's last title NBA 2K3 was way better than this garbage. They completely overhauled this game just to make it more arcadish. You used to be able to square up and strafe when playing defense by pressing the left trigger.....not anymore. Now it's impossible to keep anyone out of the paint. You can just run a pick and roll all day. This is why the computer will get 50 assists a game on you. And it can't be stopped.

Another reason it appears they rushed this game is because there aren't near as many camera angles as there used to be. Now your forced to go with what they have instead of customizing it yourself.

The graphics are starting to get cheasy now. The only time the players look good is during cut scenes.

The only reason they put the isomotion moves in this game is because they wanted to try to copy NBA Live 2004 which came out first. Your teammates don't help you rebound. The characters start dribbling between their legs for no reason and won't stop, then you turn the ball over. A lot of the NBA players & rookies are missing, and it only allows you to create about 10 players. The game sliders don't seem to have any affect on the game. I put the shooting sliders down all the way for the computer and they were still hitting shots from all over the place! When you pass the ball the receiver of the pass jumps up in the air for no reason messing up your offense. When there's a loose ball, your teammates don't rush to it, but the computer sure does.

Now then, I'm not here to promote any basketball video game. Personally, I've tried all the new basketball games, and they all stink! My advise, wait until next year and see if they improve, because they are not worth your $$. But if you must, then NBA 2K2 & 2K3 are still the best. (Even though there are a few problems with those too, I enjoyed those two a great deal. Peace......

I got this to replace and old charger. Being a storage dock was an added bonus. It keeps my gaming area clean and organized. It works great and looks good too. I haven't had any problems with it. It charges the controllers fast. I never have to worry about a controller dying in the middle of a firefight now. Nothing is worse then not knowing when your battery will die. After two days of playing without charging the controller it only took about 30 minutes to get a full charge.

This is one of the best shooters I've ever played, well, make that THREE of the best shooters I've ever played. Controls were responsive, overall it was quite "spooky," the only complaints I have were that at certain parts of each game there are "bottlenecks" that are frustratingly difficult to get past and result in destroying the fun of the game. The environments are also very similar for all three games, nothing really exotic and fairly repetitive. The storyline is definitely A+ though. I highly recommend this bundle!

After taking a long break from PC video games, I decided to try again, and found this title. The reviews seemed interesting, and since it contained the whole trilogy, I thought it would be worth the money. I must say that I was impressed with the graphics. I have since played Quake 4, and Fear's graphics were superior. (Vista, Duo Core, XFX 8600 GT 512mb, 2GB Ram). This game does get scary at times. Although you will most likely find a bit of a repetitive feel to it, it holds your attention. If you are into single player modes like I am, this will keep you busy for a while.

Best Deals for F.E.A.R. Platinum Collection: The Complete Trilogy - PC

F.E.A.R. is a very fun game. The levels are a bit repetitive, but the great enemy AI makes up for that. Replay value is ok (there are things you miss the first time through; that and the different difficulty levels mean you might get maybe 2 or 3 replays out of it). Haven't tried multiplayer yet, but I like the fact that friends who don't have the full game can get the multiplayer component for free. I also haven't tried either expansion pack yet.

This includes the director's edition of F.E.A.R., which comes on a DVD (as opposed to several CDs) and includes some extra features.

Honest reviews on F.E.A.R. Platinum Collection: The Complete Trilogy - PC

I enjoyed this game quite a bit. So far I have only gotten through the Main game and I would think about halfway through Extraction Point. I haven't played non-stop either, but when I do play I play for about 2-4 hours straight.

I'm going to do a quick and dirty list type review below using: 1 poor, 2 Bad, 3 Average, 4 Good, 5 Excellent. Also bear in mind I am using Half-life 1 & 2 as a benchmark... if you haven't played those, you should!

Story: Good

The story is fun and entertaining, although I'm not entirely sure I'm grasping the mesh of story lines that the developers intended. First Person Shooter Spec-Ops marines meets the Supernatural ala The Ring? Plays fun enough however.

Control: Excellent

The controls are standard W,A,S,D with a few extras... Flashlight, Leaning, etc. Plays like it belongs on the computer, not like a tragic port from a console. (ex: Halo (which I enjoyed on the xbox!))

Graphics: Excellent

I am rating the graphics as excellent based on the fact that some of the other FPS games currently on the market have phenominal over-the-top WOOHOO graphics, however no one has a machine capable of actually playing them! (ex: Crysis)

Single player: Excellent

So far this game has been extremely fun and the A.I. is incredibly smart at points. Some of the map design is obviously leaning in the A.I.'s favor, for example a lot of the rooms and buildings always have two ways around and the A.I. knows it when assaulting you, but that's okay they need the help as far as I'm concerned. :) If you are an experienced FPS player just start out on hard, moderate isn't worth your time and effort.

Multiplayer: Unknown

Sorry, I haven't tried... yet. I'm not really itching to try it either. There are games out there that are made for multiplayer (Team Fortress 2, Tribes, Battlefield). I prefer to have a few games where I don't have to rely on my internet connection to play.

Hope this helps someone out there. The game has been out for 3 years, but I am happy I waited and scooped it all up in one fell swoop for $30! I gave the game 4 stars due to the odd story line, and there are better plots out there, even for FPS games... no, seriously, there is! LOL!

There's not much that can really be said in reviewing a game like this. If you've played the previous Serious Sam games, you know what to expect and you won't really be dissapointed.

If you've not played them, however, just try to imagine a game like Smash TV or Total Carnage in third person. You travel through gorgeous environments and battle wave after wave after wave of enemies that keep rushing at you, eager to blow themselves up or tackle you.

One thing, though, and the title of this review should have tipped you off, but you're better off going with the PC version. The Xbox graphics are fine, but they could be so much better.

The most troubling and inexplicable difference between the two versions, however, is that the final boss of the game is totally absent in the Xbox version. This seems like a terribly bizarre decision and there's no real reason for it. If that's important to you, go with the PC version. Serious Sam is, after all, notable for its boss battles. To remove one (and the final one, at that) is simply baffling and ultimately dissapointing.

It seems that Serious Sam II didn't get the same attention as the earlier Sam's, but this is far and away my favorite episode, and ranks in my top 10 all-time favorite video games in fact it may be my #1 based on the number of times I've played it. It is somewhat more 'cartoony' than the earlier Sam's, which is exactly why I enjoy it. There is some Serious humor in this one, especially in the cut scenes, and the diversity of the worlds makes it fun over and and over. I think I've played this through more than a dozen times. There are also some really great vehicles to use. I am not a great fan of splattering blood and dead corpses, and in this game the enemies destruct in satisfying yet non-gory ways, then quickly vanish. I for one highly recommend this game and wish there were more FPS's that would take this approach. I purchased this Xbox version as a gift, but I myself play the PC version, over and over.

As a fan of Serious Sam for many years, I played every Serious Sam title on PC and console, with the exception of Serious Sam II, due to bad reviews from reviewers and fans of Serious Sam. After many years, and because Serious Sam 3 is almost here, I decided to finally bite on this game and I'm very glad I did.

Yes, Serious Sam II is a departure from the main Serious Sam formula, which consists of tons of enemies spawning on an open, arena-based map; however, Serious Sam II is more about structure and variety instead of one large map with hundreds of spawning enemies. Taking lessons from games with more linear map design, Serious Sam II's enemy encounters are spread out and the levels have more natural flow to them, like in most recent games. Now, I'm not saying levels aren't large and open, because they most certainly are, but instead of one large square map, you actually have level design that somewhat funnels you down a path, which allows for more structure and variety in encounters.

Also, Serious Sam II has vehicles, which are fun and a nice change of pace. The first one you'll encounter is a dino that you can ride and take out enemies with.

I can understand why some older Serious Sam and Painkiller fans were turned off by this departure, but I actually enjoy that there's more meat to this adventure than just mindless action 100% of the time. Don't get me wrong, I also love mindless action, but Serious Sam II was a great departure and is vastly underappreciated.

Honest reviews on Serious Sam 2 - Xbox

Other reviewers have noted that this game is fast-paced with a lot of over-the-top action, so I won't reiterate what's already been documented. What this game has is irreverence and fun in literal truckloads. Yes, it's a button-mashing fire-fest. But the game has heart and I really enjoyed the character of "Serious Sam." His one-liners are simply hilarious and I can't imagine anyone not wanting to share an adventure with this muscle-bound wisecracker.

I'm hoping (fervently) for a "Serious Sam 3" for the 360; and you know what? I don't think even Uwe Boll could mess up a "Serious Sam" movie! He'd be a great character!

"SERIOUS SAM 2 XBOX"

Well, first let me say that I am a FPS(first person shooter) nut. However, I consider myself to be very picky. I don't like slow-down and I like good/realistic graphics. After playing a demo of Serious Sam(1) a couple of years ago I didn't give Serious Sam a second thought after about 5 minutes of play. Well, I played the demo for Serious Sam II and was pleasantly suprised(I'm so glad there was a demo, I'd have never tried it if there wasn't). So I bought this at my leasure and after playing it for about 20 minutes or so I realized I was hooked.

This game has the most action I've ever seen in a video game. It's not realistic at all, but that's one of it's charms. It's nothing short of a run-and-gun good time of a video game. To me it feels like what a video game should be like. Fast, fun and tons of action. Literally, it is almost non-stop action. It doesn't take itself too seriously and it's not overly dramatic with lots of corny one-liners and deliberate cliche characters and levels. This game is exactly what a video game should be like. Don't get me wrong, I still love the truly serious FPS, but this is a refreshing break from all the drama and it's a lot of fun too.

FUN, FUN, FUN is the best way to describe Serious Sam II. Nice graphics and tons of action. I'll play this over and over again because it's so addictive and it's a refreshing alternative to the truly serious FPS video games.

Ok, if you thought Sly 2: Band of Theives was good, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

You have, amoung other things, a VERY lengthy game with tons of enemies and missions to do. There are 3D levels where you put on 3D glasses and everything jumps out at you. Its amazing and family friendly. Be the first person on your block to play this game!

Please note that you DO NOT need to have played ANY of the other Sly games in order to enjoy this game. Although it is essential to understand some of the storyline, it is not needed to actually enjoy this all new, action-packed game.

Unlike what most people was saying, this game has easily surpassed both previous installments. What are you waiting for? GET IT NOW!!!!! (Note that the violence is almost NULL and VOID in this game, the rating of 10+ is only due to the cartoon violence that is the same as if you were reading a comic book of Spiderman or Superman, it is quite discreet and younger children CAN play this game without the risk of violence being the dominating theme. It is all in fun and absolutely NO gore, sexual themes, and other themes games have taken the route of recently)

Overall: On the buy scale: an easy 5 out of 5

Fun Factor: 5 out of 5

Gameplay: 5 out of 5

Wow Factor: 4 out of 5 (aside from the 3D glasses, nothing new here in visual presentation)

New Gameplay: 5 out of 5

Replay Value: 4 out of 5 (can get repetitive over time)

Based on the scores totaled: 5 out of 5

I.E. If you don't buy it, you WILL miss out!!!!!!!!!

Let me just say that I really enjoyed this game .It's one of the funnest game that I've ever played. Let me start out with the storyline . The game begins where the previous game left off. bentley is now in a wheel chair , since he was injured at the end of the last game ,and murray has left the team to go on a path of peacfulness and non-violence, because he blames himself for what happend to Bentley , since he was close to Bentley when he got injured , so he thinks he could have saved him .Meanwhile , Sly meets a guy from his father's old gang , that tells him about a secret island somewhere in the pacific ocean , that holds the cooper vault . This vault is the place in which Sly's ancestors put all of their loot and treasures in . Naturally , Sly goes to find the vault. However , when he arrives , he sees that someone called Dr.M is already there. Apparentlry this guy has been trying to crack open the cooper vault for years , to no avail .He became so paranoid ,that he even built a huge, heavily guarded fortress around the vault to protect it , while he tries to break in . Sly and bentley realize that they're going to need to recruit new members to the gang if they want to get in the vault , and this is where the game starts .

in the rest of the game , you visit 6 different levels , the are longer , funner , and more complex than those in the second game. In each of these levels ,you will need to recruit a new member to your gang .However , it's not that simple . Each of the thieves that you recruit will ask you to do them a favor before they join your team , so you'll have to complete many missions in each world before that thief will join your team.

The missions are also longer and more fun than those in the second game , and usually you'll use two or more members to complete each step of the mission. You will also get the option to replay each mission you complete once you beat it ,something that the secong game didn't have , and this gives the game a big replay value.

speaking of new characters , you will get five other playable characters in the game . The good thing is , that although you get to play the other characters , the main focus is still on sly , bentley and murray , and they're the only characters that can use the gadgets that you buy from thiefnet. (speaking of which , each character will get new attacks and gadgets ,and keep some of their old ones as well )Still, he mini games with each of the other characters are very fun to play ,and they never get too repetitve (like in the second game). The new characters are:

A.the gure He is a magical koala that can jump on a guard's head , and control his mind , making him run around and smash into things. He can also camouflage himself , to hide from the guards.

B.Penelope -She's has an RC chopper and an RC car , which you will control in some of the missions . they're both very fun .

C.panda king He's basically the new demolitions expert in the gang . Gamers might remember him from the first game . He can also shoot fireworks at enemies .

D.Dimitri-He does all of the underwater missions for the gang . He also appeared in the secong game .

E.Camelita-(she's not really in the gang , just sometimes sly and the gang bait her into attacking one of their enemies ,then you get control of her.)she can jump really high , and she also has a shock pistol , which is pretty useful.

Another good thing is the graphics. These are great , cartoonish , cel-shaded graphics, and they look really great .Speaking of graphics , the game also has some missions that can be played using 3-D glasses that come in the manual . These are really geat , and they make the game seem very realistic , and the images seem to pop out at you. Even though the entire game is not playable in 3-D , most of the missions you complete are playable in 3-D after you finish them . The 3-D glasses are an awesome feature.

Also , this game has a multiplayer mode. there are 4 modes , and they're all very fun . they are pirate battle (where you fight at sea with battleships ) , biplane dogfighting , co-op hacking , and cops and robbers(one player , Sly , has to steal 5 items and drop them off at certain points ,and the other player, carmelita , has to kill Sly 5 times)

I highly recommend this game to anyone , and I really think it's an awesome game that does a good combination of action , adventure , and stealth .

I really wanted to like this game...probably one of the games I have been looking forward to the most. I have played every need for speed game in the franchise. Like others have already said, this isn't just a remake of the old most wanted. Yes, there are cops that chase you, and you do kind of get to customize your cars. The real problem with this game is the most important aspect of any racing game, and that is the control of the cars. This game is AWFUL with the control. The best way I can explain it is when you try to steer left or right, there's like a lag or something. It's just really not responsive. I am using a 360 controller.

Also, I've seen other reviews on here saying that the frame rates are terrible. Let me clear this up. Yes, I have noticed some frame rate drops, but not terrible ones. I haven't done actual testing, but I would guess going from a constant 50-60fps, and the drops go down to maybe 30 at the lowest. Someone else said the graphics look old. This is also untrue. This game LOOKS fantastic! I am running an AMD Phenom II x4 3.4ghz cpu, 8gb of ram, and a Sapphire Radeon 7950 graphics card.

I also read some other reviews that said the game sucks. Again, I disagree. I think they have done everything in a nice, new, refreshing style. Let it be known, I loved the Hot Pursuit game by them, and also The Run. Really, the only thing holding me back from this game receiving a 5 star rating is the poor handling of the cars, and just a little bit discouraged by the frame drop. Not a huge thing, and I am serious about when games have frame rate drops. It's really not that bad.

Oh, on a side note, I was thinking maybe the car was handling like crap at first because I was at the beginning of the game and it was just that car. Turns out to not be true...I have like five or six cars now and you just can't help but to constantly smash into either other cars, walls, or every freaking light pole on the side of the street.

I grew up with the NFS franchise. The games were always great. The series peaked 3 times equally: Porsche Unleashed because of its attention to historical detail and physics, Underground 2 for taking all that was good about Underground and then adding an open-world environment, and then Most Wanted for taking what UG2 did, and simply removing the boring bits and enhancing the best ones. After Most Wanted, things started to slide. Carbon was okay, but then the series went off a cliff. Undercover had the worst environment detail ever with even less plot, Hot Pursuit simply was not made for people who have ever driven a car in real life (keep in mind all NFS games were great BECAUSE they were arcadey, but predictable and had linear handling), The Run wasn't even finished, and then we get this, Most Wanted 2, for all intents and purposes. Without question, this is the most disappointing game of the entire franchise. Why? It's not the worst in full, but since it meant to update the original and is absolutely terrible, it loses even more points. Let's get started:

Graphics

Quite outstanding, actually. The port is just fair, but the game is actually nice to look at. Not up there with Hot Pursuit, but still nice. Doesn't matter though as the remainder of this review will show you.

Handling

There is none. Cars do not behave like cars, they all behave exactly the same which is something like a cross between a yacht and driving on an ice rink. Accelerating is fine. Braking is fine. Turning? You turn by hitting the handbrake and going into a preposterous slide. This would be fine if it was like Burnout, but there is no correlation between how much you slide and how fast you were going. If you try to brake normally and turn, the car reverts to boat mode. This game makes Cruisin' USA look like a simulator. I can put this another way: it is as though the handling model simply was not finished, but they wanted to get this game out for what...the on-Halloween season?

Gameplay

Gone are the days of racing for cash to buy cars and upgrades. Instead, you, with zero back story, start in an Aston Martin and are told to simply drive up to a Porsche, press a button, and then you can drive it. Yes, you find cars scattered throughout the city, but you aren't rewarded for your task. No. Instead, you just can swap cars on the spot as though you already own them all. Speaking of which, you can even do this when being chased by the police. Have 8 cruisers on you? No problem, hop out of your 911 and get into a Shelby Mustang and you'll hear on the radio "Suspect has changed vehicles, now in pursuit of grey Ford Mustang!". Keep in mind these cars are literally on the side of the road or in the middle of fields. Those familiar with NFS games will understand that the problem known as rubber-banding is worse than ever. Doesn't matter if your Gallardo is going 180mph, the basic police cruiser will still pass you as though you're standing still. The only thing more inane than this is that you can have a full head-on crash into a wall, get a message on the screen saying "CRASHED!"......and then continue your chase, but if you slow down normally, you'll get busted. This isn't like the rewind feature in The Run, it just happens. I could go on, but there's no point.

Plot

The entire game is run from a HUD saying you have x amount of points until you get to challenge the Most Wanted racer in x position. Woo hoo. So no, there is no plot, you come out of nowhere in an Aston Martin Vantage, and immediately "steal" a Porsche 911 and just hop off and start racing. I am not exaggerating, that is your first 45 seconds of gameplay.

If you have owned any NFS games in the past, let me just put it like this: this isn't one. It's a terribly made game which happens to have good looking models of cars in it. Once again, graphics have taken the front seat and actual fun fell off the top of the roof as you did a burnout to start a race (yes that is how you start races). Look elsewhere.

Best Deals for Need for Speed: Most Wanted

First, let me make it clear I enjoy NFS games and have since the early ones. I even enjoyed the The Run and Most Wanted and the World. I find myself wonder what the heck is this? The city of Fairhaven is great, I like the detail and exploration, it reminds me of Skyrim in its detail. My problem is with the gameplay.

Firstly, there is no car handling, you cant even tweak it or sensitivity. The cars are all over the place and handle like garbage. Now Im not a crappy driver, I own Forza Horizon, Past NFS, Test Drive Unlimited 1 and 2 and easily have succeeded in playing them all without sliding all over the place. It just seems to me Criteron did everything they could to make their Trademark Crash cut-scenes play often. These cut scenes are so annoying too. You cant skip them and by the time the animations finish playing, your in last place again. Real fun.

All in all, if you want to race, look elsewhere. This is a crash simulator not even a arcade racer. If you skip racing and just drive around crashing into things and exploring the city, it is fun and enjoyable, albeit shallow experience. However if you try racing, you'll likely end up annoyed and asking yourself why bother?

Honest reviews on Need for Speed: Most Wanted

The game is poorly optimized for PCs. Frame rate drops happen whenver you turn the camera. Im on a 2700k and gtx 680. I put the graphics on low and it still drops and hiccups and hitches. wait till the release a proper update or drivers.

Besides that I love this game. Its burnout paradise 2. As long as your cool with that, you'll enjoy this game. People expecting the original Most Wanted should just go play the 2006 game.

::UPDATE::

Four days after launch and the performance has gotten better on low settings. The most severe drops occur when inside buildings with some shadows on. Also, the higher your graphic settings, the worse the drops are. Them more chaotic your chase and multiplayer the more the game suffers. This game does not run smoothly on high settings in demanding areas. period.

high settings in multiplayer simply is not smooth.

my gut tells me its the lighting models that are killing the frame rate. but I cant back that up.

This can be considered nit-picky by some, but I'll be the first to tell you the lack of optimization does not take away from this game, its still very fun to play and I've been enjoying it since launch!

::Update 2::

40 hours into this game and I'm still loving it. The multiplayer and autolog have been keeping me busy. Unfortunately the performance issues are still there, I've been trying different settings and have found a setup that runs fairly well. Although slow downs online can't really be avoided. Ive made note of a few problem areas in Fairhaven where frames seem to dip no matter what setting I have on.

There are quite a few discussions going on out there about MWs performance and I by no means am the only one experiencing less than stellar performance.

Criterion recently said a patch is in the works.

This game seems to be hammered not because it's bad in itself no, the game is actually pretty nice (of course, if you ignore all that the words "Need For Speed" ever meant" to gamers). I'm giving this two stars, because although this is a solid game, it's not Need For Speed. At least for me, Need For Speed carried that sense of pride of having that particular car, with that particular tint of paint, with those particular specs. It was the thrill of knowing that your car can take out that roadblock like there's no tomorrow, and that the cops cannot catch up unless it's heat level 5-6. It carried a sense of trust in the car like you know that it will perform when you most need it, and that the NOS will pull you out when you fall behind.

Now comes this new installment. After the brilliant NFS:HP3 two years ago, when Criterion showed that the NFS isn't exactly dead yet and that there still is a game out there where the cops are out to get you. If anyone remembers NFS:HP2, that had no story either, so that was alright that there was no story in that new installment either.

I believe that's where the developers/EA got a little cocky. They decided to bring together the burnout formula, and merge it with the fame of the NFS series. However, that doesn't resonate with many players, and here's why:

Because when you strap on the word "NFS:MW" people expect a story, or at least gameplay that's arcade-ish but not over-the-top. When you strap-on "burnout", then people know what you're getting in. But this game is a slap in the face it's like going to a grocery store, buying a box of brand-new chocolate-chip cookie made by your favorite brand, just to find out that it's actually Oreo re-branded. Remember how you could actually smash through a roadblock? when your momentum actually mattered? well, here you get "taken down" no matter what. You recall how if you're lucked out and run over the roadblock, you're bound to get caught, not "re-inflate" your tires magically? You recall when the game actually took time to get to better cars, and how the races were difficult? Well, this game isn't that. It's not that at all. You don't even get punished for getting caught in a pursuit. Oh, and your heat level dies off after you evade back to zero.

You smash into traffic that car going 40kmh throws back your car going 250+kmh against it. Umm, hello? anyone took freshman physics? if anything the car I smash into should be subjected to this... Unless, of course, people drive 10-tonne cars around the city, and all the race-cars are feather-light.

I did like Paradise City, and it's a nice game, but it's in its own smash-and-trash genre...

tl;dr: if you like burnout, and you're willing to compromise on this being realistic, then you're in for a treat. If you expect something more than a pick-up-and-play (COD-style) from this game, then go buy something else... or buy the NFS:HP3.
