DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 is a port of the shmup arcade game by developer CAVE. Note that this release works on Japanese consoles. If you want to play it on a North American or PAL console, see DoDonPachi Resurrection which is the localized version. I use a Japanese 360 to play this disc.

Daifukkatsu is the most colorful CAVE shmup to date, full of bright eye-popping visuals and over the top bullet patterns. It also has some really cool enemy designs, such as boss fights that transform from space ships into robots in smooth transitions. It's absolutely gorgeous in motion.

This is also the most forgiving game in the DonPachi series. Players who were frustrated with the difficulty of previous DonPachi games will find this one more palatable. But don't worry, scoring is as hardcore as ever, and even the best players will be hard pressed to maximize their scoring potential. Sure, I got the one-credit clear, but I'm not going to pretend my score isn't rubbish.

Several game modes are included. Out of the box, you get the original arcade version and two arrange modes (Arrange A and B). Two more arrange modes are available via DLC, version 1.51 (a DLC card included with first-print copies) and Black Label (standard DLC). These arrange modes drastically change up the game and scoring mechanics; at times they barely seem like the same game. Definitely give them all a try at least once.

The only arrange not playable on this disc is the second Black Label Arrange, or "Ketsupachi" as it's commonly known due to the Ketsui cubes. If you want that game mode you'll have to buy the Black Label disc. I like Ketsupatchi, but whether it's worth buying a whole second disc for is questionable.

The only real downside to this game is the cover art, or rather, the lack of cover art. I wasn't sure I even bought a video game when it first arrived. Given the quality contents though, I can forgive this.

In conclusion, this is a great game for both shmup newbies and veterans alike. If you're at all interested in shmups, this is an excellent package.

I was so thrilled to get this. I play bass and being a girly girl, I loved the color. The size was also preferable to the small little dinky guitar. First of all, the dial instead of the whammy bar.. I tried it. I could almost pull it off.. but in the end, I just quit using it. For that reason alone, I'd avoid buying it again. There was also a thumb rest for using the strum bar. It got in the way horribly, however... especially if I tried to go for the whammy knob. I ended up taking it off. Next thing about it was that I had a major problem with it just stopping working during songs.. just randomly. Maybe it was losing the link for a second or something.. but it would just quit randomly. I could change position and it would fix itself. Sometimes though.. it needed resyncing. I took very good care of this. It was an all adult house. In fact, everyone that came over to play knew it was my guitar and left it alone. One day, however, it just quit. It wouldn't turn on. Nothing. I took it apart (I'm A+ certified and work on computers.) There wasn't any sign of physical damage or burnt anything on any of the circuits that I could find. The only thing I did find is that the wiring was extremely cheap and thin and it was put together in such a way that one of the internal wires was being smashed by another piece, but this was done during manufacturing and I can confirm that because they put a special glue all over everything to keep any cords/parts from moving and all that was still in place. So if that wasn't the cause, then I don't know why but it just simply quit working.

I'm sad to say it.. but I will not be purchasing another until they put the whammy bar back and fix the cheap wiring.

Fret buttons are nice and responsive, very light touch that makes hammer-on and pull-offs easier.

Split strum bar is nice, a little stiff but feels to be good quality.

Slight issue with the effects switch randomly activating causing notes to be missed though (could just be mine).

Long neck is nicer for people with normal sized arms but takes a little more time to get to the solo buttons mid song.

"Tuning pegs" at the head are a little thin and made of cheap plastic but add a nice touch of authenticity. However they will probably be broken in a few months from an accidental hit or strap popping off.

Can't wait to try it with the mad catz stomp box to activate the star power.

I didn't realize when I ordered this that the whammy bar has been replaced by a knob. I'm not sure how I'm going to adjust to that, and will have to explore the other options left in previous comments.

Also, I agree, the color is not terribly metallic. It's also not as purple-ish as it appears in the picture. Mine is more of a medium pink.

I had some difficulties getting the guitar sync'd with the system, the button on the dongle is very tiny and you can't really tell you are successfully pushing it. The instruction booklet is very sparse. It also wouldn't initially work on the Track Pack but that resolved after I ran it through RB3.

Finally, my biggest disappointment is that I paid full price for what I believed to be a new instrument, and it arrived with 2 very visible scuff marks and a chip in the black enamel around the strum bar. It functions fine and I doubt I'll bother trying to exchange it just for that, but I am irritated.

2034, post-apocalyptic Moscow. A year has passed since the Spartan Rangers discovered and occupied the D6 bunker, making them one of the powerhouses of the Metro. Artyom is now a respected ranger, but is haunted by his decision to nuke the mysterious 'Dark Ones'. When word arrives of a Dark One infant that survived the cataclysm, Artyom sets out to rescue the creature and atone for his actions. Along the way, he discovers that one of the other factions in the Metro has discovered a secret weapon that could turn the tide of power amongst the survivors forever.

Metro: Last Light is the sequel to Metro 2033, picking up where that game left off and building on its storylines and characters. Last Light is pretty unforgiving to those who haven't played the first game, not bothering with backstory or exposition, so I recommend that players either pick up the first game before this one, or make full use of online plot summaries to get them up to speed.

As before, this is a first-person shooter which alternates combat with exploration and survival elements. Combat is great fun and enhanced this time around by the addition of better stealth mechanics: Artyom can knife opponents from the shadows or knock them out if he can sneak up behind them. Given a fairly frugal approach to ammo in the game (although it's not as punishingly stingy as the first game), conserving firepower and resorting to stealth rapidly becomes the first choice in every situation. Stealth is even more important when fighting the game's mutated wildlife, who can't be stealth-killed but can be avoided by hugging the shadows and extinguishing light sources.

The survival element comes in the form of the handy gas mask, which is necessary to survive on the surface and exposed parts of the underground. The mask's filters need to be changed on a regular basis and it can get covered in debris, gunk from exploded enemies and water quite easily, forcing you to wipe it clean. This is fine in general exploration, but mid-combat it can add a panicky moment of blindness which adds to the chaos of combat. The survival element is tremendously enhanced by the impressive visuals and the bleak, lonely atmosphere. Metro: Last Light does atmosphere better than almost any other FPS game I've played.

The moments of bleakness are counterbalanced by the towns (former Metro stations that have been taken over as habitations for survivors), which are bright, warmer and packed with people. The towns are a good place to chill out and restock on supplies before heading out. Unfortunately, as with the first game, they are essentially just shops with only modest improvements in giving you more to do (though a couple of optional missions can be found, along with a dubious strip club and a shooting range mini-game). The towns are crying out for more development, and as with the recent BioShock Infinite there is a feeling that maybe this would have been a stronger game if it had been more of an RPG than a FPS.

Still, an FPS it is and a good one at that. Making the linear corridor FPS (which is what Last Light is, apart from a couple of enormous arena-like outdoor areas where you have more freedom to choose what approach to take next) compelling and interesting is difficult, but 4A Games has managed it by giving the game a sense of place and atmosphere that is second to none. The limited nature of the genre means that you can't explore the people and places as much as you might want to, but through overhead dialogue, some excellent art design and Artyom's own notes, they successfully engross the player in this strange world.

Voice-acting is good and characterisation is fairly strong, although a romance with another character does kind of come out of nowhere. Whilst you spend a good chunk of the game going solo, you also team up with other characters for chunks of it, and they manage to be effective aids in combat without hogging the limelight. One character 'buffs' you by providing you with intelligence on enemy positions and numbers rather than fighting outright, which is a great idea that the game executes well.

Metro: Last Light (****½) is an improvement on its predecessor in almost every department: it's slightly longer, with more impressive graphics, more satisfying combat, vastly superior stealth and a more interesting storyline. On the minus front, it does feel very reminiscent of its forebear, more the second half of the same game rather than a sequel, and arguably the game makes a few too many concessions to the mainstream, with more plentiful ammo and supplies meaning less moments of nerve-shredding terror. Still, it's a bleak, atmospheric and gripping game.

Both Metro games have an incredible atmosphere. (Think STALKER, Cryostatis, etc.) IIRC, this game has a bit more emphasis on human enemies than the first, but there are still some strong mutant sections. The various stations are full of life and there are plenty of tidbits if you stick around and listen.

This is a solid single player experience; and IMHO well worth the purchase price.

UPDATE: There's a new patch that was released which fixes FOV and performance improvement on AMD hardware. It seems that the game is much more smoother now and I get 10+ extra fps now. So I guess it wasn't an issue with the AMD's GPUs but it was the game itself causing the low fps. I just finished beating the game and it took around 8hrs or so on hard-mode which was totally worth it. Read my review if you want to know why I recommend playing the game on hard-mode. If you guys have any specific questions about the game then just leave me a comment and I will reply as soon as possible. If you guys want customize the FOV then do this:

After starting the game up, the user.cfg will be updated with the r_base_fov attribute. You can find this in %LOCALAPPDATA%\4A Games\Metro LL\. Don't change the FOV to a really high value because it can causes random crashes and character models to look awkward.

I am a huge fan of Metro 2033 and Last Light is even better in my opinion. I haven't finished the story yet but so far it has been awesome. These are some of the things that I have noticed so far from playing the game.

If you were a fan of the atmospheric underground parts in Metro 2033 then you will love this game even more. The character models and animations are unbelievably good. The textures look great and the lighting/graphical effects are amazing. The textures in this game are crazy good and if you stare very close to the objects, you can see all the tiny details and they are not blurry like in most games that you see today. You need a pretty strong computer to run the game and make sure to wait for the beta drivers from both AMD and Nvidia to play the game. I will talk more about that.

The graphics are awesome and when I say awesome, I really mean awesome. The game looks a lot better than Metro 2033 and I am having no issues playing it on my rig: 3770K overclocked at 4.8Ghz, 16GB of ram and CF HD7970. I have the game set at maximum settings at 1920x1080 and while the game is smooth most of the time, there are still moments when my fps dips below 30 which is frustrating. From what I have read online, it seems that this game isn't very well optimized for AMD hardware at the moment. I'm hoping that the new beta drivers from AMD will fix some of slowdowns that I'm currently experiencing. I will update my review once AMD releases the beta drivers and will let you guys know if there are any improvements.

The gameplay in Metro Last Light is excellent and you have almost immediate access to a decent range of customizable weapons that suit numerous combat styles. This makes the game too easy on normal mode which is why I recommend you guys playing the game on hard mode if you want to get the most out of this game. The AI in this game is not perfect and could defiantly use a little bit of work if you ask me. There were a few times where the enemy would get stuck behind objects or not attack me at all.

So far the game feels very solid and I easily give it a 10/10 despite some issues with the game being choppy but hopefully the beta driver from AMD will fix that. Now if you'll excuse me, I will go back and finish the game and I will update my review once I'm done with it.

My full rig:

Sapphire 2xHD7970 @ 1.2 GHz

16GB of RAM

Windows 7 64bit

Intel Core i7 3770K @ 4.8 GHz

Samsung 840 Pro 256GB

Honest reviews on Metro Last Light

This game is very well done. It is quite linear but the game play and the graphics and the story are pretty solid.

My biggest issue is the Hardcore setting. I got to a level where I could not complete it because I did not have the right guns, so I had to go back 4 levels and get them. This is just plain poor design.

Other than that quite fun.

Review of Oddworld Stranger's Wrath

Oddworld Stranger's Wrath
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

**UPDATE** Sad news from Lorne Lanning and Oddworld Inhabitants, the creators of this spectacular series. Oddworld Inhabitants is closing its doors. After creating 4 games in what was supposed to be a huge series and with 2 games already in development for next gen systems, they are closing up. Chances are this will be the last game featuring the loveable creatures of Oddworld. But fear not, Lanning believes he might be able to crack into the TV or movie business in order to have his property protected. Keep an eye on them. They are so talented, their studio might be the next Pixar.

On to the review:

I'm very disappointed in the mistreatment this game has been getting from the professional online reviewers like IGN, Gamespot and Gamespy. When I was trying to figure out if this game was worth purchasing or not, I had to literally search the entire page at the Xbox branch of IGN just to find the review. Normally, reviews get top billing; not the case with this beautifully unique game.

A lot has been said about the "gimmick" of having live ammo. Given the series of Oddworld (Abe's Oddysee and Exodus, Munch's Oddysee), how someone could label the live ammo as a gimmick is beyond me. Oddworld is a world very different from our own. Stranger's Wrath just heightened this oddity by giving you creatures to fire instead of finding ammo for your tripple-barrelled, shoots rockets and has a flame-thrower attached, shotgun. And it fits in the universe perfectly. Now, if this was a Halo game (for example), yes having live ammo would be a gimmick. But, it fits in perfectly with the Oddworld mythos and provides a truly engaging experience.

Another thing that I feared after reading the sorely mistaken (IMO) professional reviews was that it was virtually impossible to capture the bosses alive. Being a bounty hunter, it is your mission to capture wanted villains either dead or alive. By capturing them alive you get two or more times the money than capturing them dead.

Now, if you were to read a lot of reviews from IGN etc, it would seem that you couldn't capture any of the bosses alive. While I have been playing games all of my life and am better than the average gamer in some respects, I would definitely not consider myself a master of the FPS genre. By any stretch. And yet I was able to capture every single boss alive. Now, there were a couple that made me very frustrated and it took me more than a handful of tries to do it, I was able to. The game definitely makes you work to get that full bounty but it's not impossible.

As far as the story goes, the developers once again created a uniquely different story involving Stranger and his past. I will not reveal any story spoilers, but not is all what it seems and there will come a point where the way you look at the game changes in an exciting way. And from that point on, the game ramps up the excitement to a wonderful climax.

Graphically, the game is beautiful. It makes me remember why I bought the Xbox. Not only are the lush environments beautifully rendered, but the framerate moves swiftly. Seeing Strange bound at a cheetah speed through these beautiful environments is striking. There is some pop-up, especially in Mango (sp?) Valley where bushes will pop up in the distance. But considering the speed and the graphics the game is pushing, it doesn't really bother me.

As far as controls go, this game is well designed. Switching between first person and third person is as easy as tapping the R3 button. This change works really well, giving you the best of both worlds, the percision of first person shooting, and the fluidity and speed of moving in third person. I have a couple complaints though. Moving up and down rope is a pain. The animation is kinda clunky and I don't see why you can't slide down rope, instead of hand over hand moving down it. Hey, if the Prince can slide down rope, why can't Stranger? But this is a minor quibble.

As far as the sound goes, again Oddworld Inhabitants (the developers) did an excellent job. Stranger's voice is a little silly to me, he talks in a slow drawl that seems to be a cross between Clint Eastwood and Forrest Gump. But the other voices are remarkable, especially considering that most (if not all) are done in house with the Lead voicing most characters in all of the Oddworld games.

My only real complaint is that the game isn't long enough. It's longer than Halo 2 (which is a bonus), and I don't know exactly how many hours I clocked in on it, but it felt like it was over too fast. I guess what disappointed me was that I was having so much fun exploring Oddworld again that no matter how long or short it was I would be sad to leave it. The world is just so interesting.

The level design is also very linear. In today's world of GTA openness, people might have a problem with that, which is why I bring it up. The levels have a set path. That's not to say the gameplay is linear. There are MANY different ways to tackle every situation. The joy of having live ammo is that you are presented with a myriad of ways to take down the opposition, creating gameplay that allows you to experiment. But if you're looking for a Deus Ex type of environment where there are multiple paths to get to the boss, you won't find it here.

What the game does best is refresh video games. From the opening CG cinema (which is Pixar quality) to all of the loveably strange and bizarre characters, this game oozes originality and charm. You can tell the developers truly care about the artform of video games. They love what they do and the game was a refreshing experience.

To sum it up, I can't say enough about this game. It is unique. It is beautiful. And it is fun. Even after the 5th time trying to take down a boss alive, I didn't throw down the controller in anger. It kept me wanting to play until I could take him down. If you are tired of the same old save Earth from "insert name of alien race here", or similar I would definitely recommend this game. It is hard, but it is easily one of the most enjoyable games I have played in ages. And the jolt of energy the games gives you about half way through the game is enough for me to recommend buying this game.

I read an article on wired.com/news about this game and couldn't wait to get a copy. Got the Prima guide with it, which has been worth the money so far (third day).

I bought a Gamecube and later a PS2 and only recently bought an Xbox (I don't like MS) and I hate to say that the graphics, at least in this game, are out-freaking-standing. Approaching photo-realistic. The scenery in O:SW is PHENOMENAL, great late-afternoon sunset lighting with beautiful little touches like bits of fluff from weeds providing counterpoint to the action and firepower. The graphics really pop.

The "live ammunition" takes some getting used to in much the same way that it took me a while to figure out how to play the PC version of Lemmings oh-so-many-years-ago. It's GREAT fun, very imaginative, and the mazes are terrific so far. The villians are as rotten as they ought to be and the Stranger is a brilliant idea. I'm really looking forward to getting through my day and firing up the Xbox to play some more, and I just don't play that many games (I'm an OLD fart). Or maybe I'm just picky -it's not every day, or every YEAR, that I find a game that I like, and I **LIKE** this game!

The game feels really tight overall, they did a great job producing it. Good concept, great art direction, the gameplay is a lot of fun -I love this game! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!! THIS ONE'S WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!

Best Deals for Oddworld Stranger's Wrath

Oddworld has made some great games in the past and this one is no exception. It happens to be my favorite out of all of the series. If you have an X-Box this game is a must buy and I'm really hoping for a sequal.

For me to give a game five stars it needs to have a great story-line and this one has one. You're basically a bounty hunter that nobody knows about, The Stranger. You have always taken out outlaws just for the fun of it and never really cared about the pay. Now its different, you need the money for an operation that your life depends on. Now I know you may be saying to yourself that the story-line sounds a little cheesy and dull, but it really starts kicking in when you are playing the game and I dont want to give anything away.

The gameplay is where the game really flies. The game is basically a shooter because of the bounty type, but you can switch in and out of first person mode and third person mode during the gameplay which is great. The gun you get is the double barrel crossbow and your ammo, well, its live oddworld critters. The live ammo you can use consists of Stunkz(little skunks that distract the enemy), Bolamites(They wrap up the enemy with web), Chippunks(they are basically made for distracting an enemy), Zappflies(Made for catching other ammo), Fuzzles(shoot em on the ground and the first enemy to walk by will have the fuzzle eating the life out of them), Thudslugs(Powerfull shot), Boombats(explosive bombs), Stingbees(like a machine gun), Wasps(Made for sniping). The great thing about the double barreled crossbow is that you can have two different kinds of ammo in it and shoot both at the same time if you want. You can also upgrade your ammo and upgrade almost everythinfrom the size of your ammo bag to your speed to your stamina and even brass knuckles for fighting. When you are in third person mode you can punch, and you can revive your health by using up your stamina meter. You will get the normal things in a city of a bounty game like bounty store and amm store and other places. I always love checking out the bounties because they always have wierd creatures. Collecting bounties is also a bit different in oddworld. You can either kill the bounty or take him while he's alive. You bag bounties by sucking them up in your little special device on your arm. You can colect unlimited amounts of bounty this way and just throw your arm on the bounty desk and get lot of money.

The graphics in the game are amazing, I dont know if its because of the environments that really bring them out or if its just the graphics in general. The environments look amazing and even some places are breath taking, like the snow level or when you are in the factory at the end of the game and your friends are throwing in gigantic fireballs. The Stranger also looks amazing and he is one of my favorite game characters.

The sound is great and I love listening to the creatures walking around in the city. It has plenty of wierd cool sounds and I love how your ammo talks back to you. The controls are also excellent and are easy to get into.

Well this game is defenitley a five out of five for me and I recommend this game to everyone especially to those oddworld fans. This game is one of my favorite games and I will never sell it because everytime I look at the cover it gives me that feeling that I want to play it again.

Honest reviews on Oddworld Stranger's Wrath

The title I put is a bold claim; especially with the recent release of Halo 2. But honestly, this latest incarnation of Oddworld offers the most fun I've had on the XBox with a third/first person shooter. At first the game fools you The live ammo seems a little gimmicky and trudging from one bounty boss to another seems initially tiring. But this game has a storyline like no other. Just when you think you've completed the game EVERYTHING changes in a good way. It's like two games in one and both parts are incredible. If you don't want to know anymore then stop reading now and go play the game! I didn't know about the 'surprise' path the game takes and was blown away. One minute you're in the Wild West, the next you're in a Halo-esque futuristic world full of cranes, spaceships, cannons, rockets and all sorts of weird and wonderful creatures. Gone are the linear quests to rope in badguys replaced by a fairly free roaming world of adventure. Truly huge effort has been placed into both elements of gameplay and the graphics, sound, dialogue and even the strange ammo system is perfect. I simply loved this game a jewel in the XBox crown.

The people at Oddworld tell amazing stories, and Stranger's Wrath is no exception.

The 3rd person action/adventure / 1st person shooter... and all of it beautiful.

I was a little wary of the 1st person shooter aspect, especially with the "Live Ammo", but once I started playing, I was hooked.

What the guy before me said about the last part being worth the price alone... it's all true.

THIS is how you make a game. I'd put it up there with Ninja Gaiden and the Halo games.

Keeping in context that this is THQ's first attempt to make a UFC game and you have to admit they did an amazing job.

This was obviously a very hard game to make because it's based on real fighting technique's and has to be grounded in reality. They didn't have the liberties to do impossible moves with super hero like abilities to dish out and withstand punishment like in other games. It had to be as real as possible and that alone must have made for a challenge. Why it's so much more challenging than a wrestling or fighting game is also for the fact that you have to be able to have as much ability to attack and defend from the ground as you do on your feet. A handful of moves won't do it either as it'll get old and stale real fast. Considering they had no existing engine to work with like they're WWE games and had to build a new one from the ground up, it's all the more impressive.

I've been playing it all morning and so far I have to say it's alot of fun. The controls are good although they take a little getting used to but it won't be long before your dishing it out like a pro. The fighters all have their own unique move sets so they're not just different looking, they actually play different from one another. I love the variety of ko's and submissions and I went alot of matches before I saw any of the same finishes twice. I started by jumping right in to exhibition mode to just go at it and get a feel of it. Then I went to tutorial mode to learn the various technique's to play the game how it was meant because I could only go so far on my own. The games excitement ramped up alot after that as I found myself eager to apply the new strikes, takedowns and submissions I had just learned. It really started to look and feel alot more real when thinking and strategizing during matches. Other than those, there's a deep career mode where you get to build your own fighter from scratch, train him, and fight up through the ranks to become one of the elite. Also included is an online mode and classic fights mode where you get to recreate some of the best fights in recent UFC history where your rewarded with unlockable video montages of those fights. I thought the original pre-fight interviews they show you before the fights were a nice touch. I'm also very impressed with the 80+ roster of fighters from all 5 weight classes.

Graphically, it looks great. Most all the fighters look very close to the real ones and some are almost spot on. The only one who doesn't is Mark Coleman and the strange thing is that he instead looks EXACTLY like Frank Trigg. Dana White also looks a little too unlike himself but I was happy with all the others. Otherwise, there's a great attention to detail with the rings, muscles, sweat, cuts and clothing all looking pretty real.

The audio is really good. You'll here the same theme songs from the Ultimate Fighter, UFC Unleashed and Fight Night. Also included are background music you'll hear played often at the events. It's all rock type and meant to get you pumped up for some fighting. The commentary is better than I've heard on any wrestling game. Mike and Joe don't repeat themselves nearly as much and actually have alot of informative things to say. They're also synched very well with the action going on in the ring. The crowd noises ramp up with the action or slow to a boo with inactivity and the smacks and thumps of combat are well represented.

It's not a perfect game though. It could be a little faster, ko's come a little too frequent and easy while submissions are pretty tough to pull off and the cpu doesn't attempt to ground you and try them very much. I'd like a little more blood effects from the fighters as in bleeding down they're faces, getting in they're eyes, and more on the body and shorts. Not to be gory but if you've watched alot of UFC you'll know it happens often enough. There are no ring entrances which also means none with customizable music which is what I would've like to see for my fighter in career mode. And why not have your created fighter start out on The Ultimate Fighter show for a chance to be the next Forrest Griffin? I'd also like to save my best matches, highlights and maybe have a tournament mode like the old UFC where you'd have to beat 3 or 4 guys in the same night. But that's all secondary. What matters is that the core game is intact and it was no doubt a very tough task but I believe they pulled it off.

I've been very excited about this game from it's announcement and early screens and video, till picking it up today and I have to say that I'm not disappointed at all and believe most fans of the UFC and video games won't be disappointed either. For the most part, it lives up to the hype. It's also light years beyond any other UFC game that's ever been made and one heck of a start to capturing the feel of the UFC and MMA in general. I give it 4 stars out of 5 for room for improvement next time but also a big recommendation for UFC fans.

Update: I've been playing the game alot over the past 4 days since I got it and am just continually blown away by how authentic it is. The fighters fight alot like their real life counterparts. Chuck Liddell backs away and counters, Anderson Silva constantly tries to get you in a muay tai clinch to punish you with knees and Brock Lesnar attempts to ground and pound you out, brilliant. There are also tons of reversals and escapes on the ground to make it a really fun and interesting part of fighting. I'm also really enjoying the commentary by Rogan and Goldberg, as they'll also recognize and talk about previous matches between fighters who had significant matches like Arlovski vs Silva, Liddell vs Ortiz and Silva vs Franklin, very cool. Congrats to THQ and Yukes, they really did their homework.

UFC Branding: 10/10

This game is extremely faithful to the UFC franchise: the arenas, announcers, referees, commentators, Octagon girls, and of course the fighters and coaches are all there and look and sound very realistic. I thought the coaches mumbled too much and didn't really give good advice but at least you get the feeling of advice being given (moral support?).

Controls: 8/10

I wanted to be able to jump more and generally be more reckless. For example, I wanted to do flying kicks (the flashy kind real fighters never do unless they want to lose in the first few seconds). There are a lot of really cool moves like Superman punch and flying knee but these can only be activated contextually (you have to be a certain range from your opponent). I have never played a "wrestling" game before so I wasn't sure what to expect but the use of the right analog stick for a lot of grappling/wrestling moves seemed to do the trick. It is somewhat intuitive but I am still struggling with transitions (there are easy and hard transitions and the hard ones don't always seem to work). I would have really loved customizable controls but I did not see that option (probably because the practice/tutorial mode would be harder to script), but the defaults are fairly intuitive and get the job done. I don't like having to press the analog sticks inward (left inward to run, right inward to submit) The left bumper and trigger are height modifiers that convert strikes to high and low respectively. This also modifies grappling: high to clinch and low to do a takedown. Then, on the ground you can still modify for head shots or body shots. So, that much is intuitive. The right bumper and trigger are defensive height modifiers, though even if you block you'll still take some damage. I had to take off one point for the lack of jumping and fun controls and one point for the omission of customizable controls, otherwise they are reasonably comprehensive and intuitive.

Tutorial: 8/10

The tutorial is very long and takes a while to get through it all. I am happy it exists and had to go back and consult it a few times. I think there could be better integration of this with the training camps in Career mode but it's still decent.

Practice Mode: 10/10

This mode has everything: choose your fighter, opponent, and opponent's AI level. This lets you configure whether your opponent will be an inanimate punching bag, someone who will defend only (with many options here), or someone who will fight back (and you can set the difficulty level). If you or your opponent is knocked out or submitted, it's no big deal, the fighter positions reset quickly and you can resume practice. If there is one thing I would have liked, it would have been to have more options for where you fight (instead of just the gym).

Historic Fights: 2/10

I thought this was cool but it seemed to force me to play as one of the fighters and not just have the fights play out as they actually did (or have AI's fight it out and simulate what might have happened). I guess I just don't see how you couldn't do pretty much the same thing with Exhibition Mode.

Exhibition Mode: 10/10

This is the normal "versus" mode of the game. I had no problems with the options presented. Yes, you have to choose your weight class (an appropriate constraint), but you get to use custom fighters and toggle stats and fighters who have actually fought in more than one weight class are able to be selected in both (e.g. BJ Penn). I think you can even choose your arena and referee (but not the Octagon girls). Importantly, you can choose how many rounds it will be (which constrains the arena selection a bit): 2, 3 or 5.

Career Mode: 7/10

This mode is hard. First, the fights are hard. Second, the time management can be tricky. Basically, everything is done on a weekly basis and most physical actions take a certain amount of stamina away. So, you can't do Intense training twice in one week but you could do Intense and Moderate training and then have virtually no stamina left. There's nothing wrong with using up your stamina except that it might be bad if you have none on the week of your fight and you can only recover part of your stamina in one week so you need about two weeks to fully recharge. This is rough because you may only have 4 or 5 weeks to get ready for a fight so half your time is wasted to recharging. I loved the sparring and training camps options (and actually felt like the training camps helped me learn and improve) and you can even use points from sparring to boost specific stats (and they are very specific let me tell you) or you can focus on Strength, Speed and Cardio (if you prefer the macro level). There are also emails and interviews and making public appearances (e.g. at other fights) which all seem fine but maybe a bit of a time waster for people who just want to fight. Of course, this is career mode so what do you want? Oh, and if you really like detail, you can add sponsors and micro the logos on your trunks for reputation points. The nice thing about career mode is that it is VERY forgiving. If you screw up and lose a fight or two, you'll still be given opportunities to step back into the Octagon. Dana White and your manager/agent are very nice and bend over backwards to promote you and help you along.

Graphics: 9/10

I thought Dane White, Herb Dean, and a few fighters did not look right. However, the vast majority are convincing. I think the camera angles are great and have no complaints there (you don't even notice it). The movement of the fighters is very impressive and there is a lot of attention to detail to things like breathing and hunching over when low on energy. I love the ragdolling (though maybe it's too frequent and it seems knockouts frequently cause the opponent to lose his mouthguard). There is too much sweat and not enough blood, but the sweat doesn't detract that much. I loved how you can create a fighter and customize so much about his physical appearance (it is very thorough). I would have liked to see more options for hair color (for Chris Leben etc.) but that's about it.

Voice Acting: 10/10

Music: 2/10

I hate the default music (even though it is true to UFC style) and turned it off as soon as it got annoying. I would have liked to have seen an option to use custom songs for your fight entrance (which by the way is oddly absent in this otherwise very detailed and realistic game) and otherwise have a song library to play as background music. I think the commentators are spot on in terms of how they sound and what they say. I think there is a tendency for the commentators to overstate how crazy or epic every fight is, but otherwise they do a good job of stating the obvious. I don't know about the licensing and stuff but it would have been great if they could have had the fight entrance songs (e.g. when Quinton "Rampage" Jackson enters and Roy Jones Jr. "Can't be Touched" plays). Oh, and the game obviously doesn't know how to pronounce whatever jacked up name you give your custom fighter so it just uses a preset nickname (you can choose from a dozen or so) like "Headhunter" when doing announcements at the beginning and end of matches. I would have liked more nicknames to choose from (why not include actual fighter nicknames?) but it's not a big deal.

Miscellaneous:

There are some load time issues. I also think it gets a bit confusing when it's autosaving (do Exhibition matches count toward my Custom Fighter's Career Mode?) or you go to save redundantly. It's not a big problem and isn't terribly confusing just a bit weird (it shows all the steps it does in each part of the save process when it probably could have suppressed some of it).

I have yet to see Jens Pulver or Mark DellaGrotte (not sure they aren't there just haven't noticed them) and I'm sure a lot of MMA geeks will bemoan that there is no Fedor but this is explicitly UFC Undisputed and not a general MMA game. If you want to you could probably create him with the custom fighter options anyway which should be the default response to any qualms over missing fighters.

It is probably worth mentioning the fighting styles. In this game all fighters are classified into a striking style and a grappling style. There are three striking styles: Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai. Only kickboxers can do head kicks (as far as I can tell). Only Muay Thai can do special moves in the clinch (e.g. knee to the head). There are three grappling styles: BJJ, Wrestling, Judo. BJJ has the best transitioning and submissions. Wrestling and Judo let you do throws and slams and I think you have to be a wrestler to do certain throws (or have a guaranteed ability to do them). I'm not sure whether the style limitations are problematic but considering that fighters are normally encouraged to be well-rounded and learn everything (and how that's the whole point of MMA), it's weird that these limitations are built-in.

There are a lot of nice little touches in the game and if you're an UFC fan or at all into MMA this title will probably hold your interest. If you're looking for Street Fighter mechanics and the ability to do Hadoukens, you won't find it here. However, if you're looking for a level of realism never before seen in this genre of video game, this is it. I was skeptical that you could ever develop a control system to faithfully translate MMA into a video game format, but this game gives me hope. I do think it tends to emphasize the strategic rather than the visceral aspect of the sport but it is a video game after all (if you want something more visceral, then try the real thing I guess or get a button masher).

A great fighting game with deep controls and tons of replay. The online gameplay with created fighters and known UFC vets alike is fun and rewarding for anyone who put hours into their create-a-fighter.

Some folks have complained that leveling up your character through the training sessions were boring, menu nonsense, but I also really enjoy RPGs so I found this menu system intuitive and way faster than going through mindless mini-games over and over for hours on end (you're building a fighter's career that's years long!).

The fighting in the game is fluid and deep. Getting the controls down is made easy with the in game tutorial and a bit of time in the octagon. Once you're familiar with the controls getting in there and punching people in the face is tons of fun. The different Striking and Grappling techniques make interesting combinations possible that should please any fight fan. The animations and sound effects are very good. It's truly satisfying to drop a Superman punch on someone or deliver a truly spectacular head kick that rocks your opponent! Whether you're a fan of the UFC or just a casual gamer I think that this game will keep you playing for a ling time.

Honest reviews on UFC Undisputed 2009 - Xbox 360

The fighting is ok, but this game is packed with so many idiotic limitations I wonder if the developers were actively trying to frustrate gamers.

Problems with this game:

1. No open weight fights. Not only can you not have BJ Penn fight Brock Lesnar, you can't even have Georges St-Pierre fight Anderson Silva. This game is absolutely rigid in their restrictions on who can fight who. And disallowing certain fights is not even realistic a lot of these fights have actually happened. Penn fought Machida, Nog fought Henderson, etc. But not in this game.

Fight Night games allow for open weight bouts you could have Pacquiao vs. Tyson if you want and that's something that would NEVER happen in boxing. But EA realizes that its a video game and that it would be stupid to not allow all fighters to compete with each other. Meanwhile, UFC started as an open weight event and PRIDE was holding open weight tournaments relatively recently.

Looking at the back of the box you may be wowed by the idea of 80 fighters, but guess what? Each fighter can only face 15 other fighters so don't get too excited. And in career mode you will end up facing the same couple guys over and over. I played a welterweight career and literally fought GSP, Hughes, and Serra 6 or 7 times each.

And if you want to argue that those bouts would not actually happen in the real UFC, I say to you: you are wrong. GSP may very well go up in weight and fight Silva. But you cant do that in this game which is so ridiculous it is mind-boggling. If I want to have Florian vs. Cro Cop I should be able to! And if Florian gets murdered, so be it.

The lack of open weight cuts a huge element out of an already shallow game. It would be exciting to see if you could beat your friend while he is using Nogueira and you are Dan Henderson... oh wait, Nogueira and Henderson actually fought before, but they can't in this game. Yeah, that makes sense.

2. Can't use UFC fighters in career mode. This is especially awful because you will soon realize that the UFC fighters can only be used in the exhibition mode or online. This means that if you want use, say, Rampage Jackson against everyone in his division, you have to go through the menus and manually select each different fighter in exhibition mode. It's clunky and slow and gets old fast.

3. Career mode is WAY TOO SHORT. Look, it's THQ, so that's an iron-clad guarantee that the career mode will disappoint. I knew that going in, THQ is obsessed with ending your career just as it's getting started. They've done it on every wrestling game they've produced and they did it here. Except in the WWE games you get 50 matches. Here you get 35 and then you are forced to retire. The career mode lasts 7 years. That means if you make your created fighter 18, he is forced to retire when he is 25. That's blatantly stupid and has no relation to an actual UFC career. Why can't I just continue for 100 matches or more if I want? SO STUPID.

Fight Night Round 4 is going to have a career mode that's going to last at least 10 years from what I have seen, but then again, EA is making a sports game and not modelling their career mode on wrestling games.

Basically the whole single player game amounts to the career mode and thats it, so why not let it go on for a while? Why is THQ so obsessed with ending your career prematurely? Why not have it be open ended and just go on forever?

4. There are hardly any modes. There should have been a basic Arcade mode or something where you can pick a real fighter and fight in a bunch of fights. That may be a dumb idea but it's something... ANYTHING. The single player game is wretched, you get the career mode and that is it, then there is exhibition for fighting your friends, online, and... that's it. I won't even bother to review the completely worthless "classic" fight mode. They leave out tons of stuff, yet give you the classic fight feature which is a genuine, honest-to-goodness waste.

There should be a dozen different modes. Tournaments, Arcade, a career mode that simulates an actual career.

5. No title fights. That's right, outside of career mode you can't have any title fights. If you choose a 5 round fight, Mike Goldberg will call it a title fight, and he'll call the winner the new champion, but it doesn't mean anything. No one actually wins a belt. There are no title fights, if you want to win the belt you have to do it in the career and that means you can't win the belt with a default UFC fighter. Imagine a UFC game where you can't win the belt with a UFC fighter. You don't have to imagine, here it is. So much for running your own fed with your friends.

6. Create a fighter is pointless. You CAN'T create a great fighter off the bat, the basic CAF mode only allows for average fighters to be created (75 is the max rating). So you can not create Fedor or Couture or anyone good right away, which makes the basic CAF as unusable as the stupid classic fight mode.

What's the point? Who wants to sit around making bum fighters? No one.

That leaves you with the career mode which allows you to create a fighter and build up his stats. But you can't have this fighter have both special punches and kicks like many real fighters do, and there are other limitations: your created fighter will never be as good as a real fighter.

Apparently you are allowed to create up to 100 fighters, but the game only lets you choose from *TEN* different nicknames. So that pretty much ruins the idea of creating 100 fighters. Are you supposed to create guys with the same nicknames over and over? As far as I am concerned, you can only create 10 fighters because I have no interest in having 2 different guys with the same nickname. I should also mention that the nicknames are horrible and make your character less cool for having to use one of them.

There are dozens of decent nicknames on here that belong to the default fighters that would have been ok for gamers to use, they could have easily allowed that but they didn't. They gave you 10 of the nerdiest nicknames you could possibly imagine.

What should have been done is this: you should have been able to type your OWN nickname, whatever you want it to be. Then there should have been a list of names for the in-game announcers and commentators to call you during the fights, and if you did not choose one, they could just call you, "the fighter". This is basic technology that has been available since the birth of PS2 at least. Sports games have been calling me by my real name for years. That was something this Bush League game could not manage, so I guess I have to name myself "Big Nasty"... =/

10 nicknames! Why not just spit in gamers' faces?

...

Honestly, this is an ok game. You'll have a little fun with it. But it's so obviously rushed, barebones, and cheap that it gets old super fast. A game like this should be overflowing with modes and options. Everything I listed here should be in this game and more. There is no comparison with Undisputed and any serious sports game. UFC Undisputed is not a serious sports game. It's a more realistic wrestling game.

When Fight Night Round 4 comes out, everyone is going to realize what a class fightsport game looks like, and this game will look POOR in comparison. Count on that, and save your money if you are only going to buy one.

UFC 2009 Undisputed is a very good game. THQ has put in everything to make a great MMA game they included every detail and put everything into the game.

One problem is that every Muy Thai fighter is the same, every Boxing figher is the same, and every Kickboxing fighter is the same. All the moves for each style is the same and also for the BJJ, Wrestling, and Judo fighters. That sometimes makes the game repetitive.

The career mode also gets repetitive after a while especially after you win the title because you fight the same four or five fighters all the time. I got very agitated that in career mode you are forced to retire after seven years.

But overall the game is very good and i believe is definetly worth 50 bucks.

As one might expect, there are similarities between this game and the original 2008 version of this game set in Beijing and the 2010 Winter version set in Vancouver. First, this version of the game is timed to coincide with next year's Summer Olympics in London, so expect to see a lot of references, venues, and trivia to the UK throughout the game. Second, like those games, this is essentially a set of mini-games where you can compete against the computer or each other in various events. Third, you get to choose players from both the Sonic and the Mario worlds to compete, or use your own Mii.

In all honesty, I came in with tepid expectations. After all, these same games have been done already many times by many publishers by now. So with each new mini-game I tried, I braced myself for the same-old, same-old.

But time and time again I was surprised at how fun and fresh each game was to play. Sega has taken an aging franchise and managed to breathe some new life into it.

Here's a list of the traditional mini-games:

Aquatics: There are two events under aquatics. You can compete in a traditional swim meet, where you wave your Wii remote and nunchuk to various swimming strokes. Or, you can compete in "synchronized swimming", where you (and any teammates) need to move your remotes in sync with each other.

Badminton: In this game, you basically whack a shuttlecock back and forth. This is not a very realistic simulation; you can't really aim your shot or do many specialized shots. As you play each side will build up energy which can be used to employ "power shots" that are difficult (but not impossible) to return.

Canoeing: In this game, you wag the remote forward and back to the proper timing to coincide with your canoers' strokes.

Cycling: This one is a pretty accurate simulation of Olympic team cycling. You pump the Wii remote up and down to make your cyclist pedal. Once your cyclist runs out of steam, you move your cyclist to the end of the line to drift off your line of cyclists (making sure you stay aligned). As your cyclist builds up more energy you'll move your way back to the front of the line, and then everyone will sprint at the end. The details on this are impressive; like in the Olympic telecasts, you'll see a line depicting your competitors' time. This was definitely one of my favorites.

Equestrian: This was another favorite. In it, you ride your horse through an equestrian track by moving your Wii remote and nunchuk up and down like a bridle. As you approach obstacles, you need to press "A" with the correct timing to jump, and as you turn curves, you need to twist your Wii remote and nunchuk to keep you and your horse's balance. This was a new take on a concept that's been tried many times, and it works.

Fencing: A pretty standard fencing simulation where you need to parry and thrust, getting points when you strike your opponent or knock him or her out of the lines.

Football: This is a great soccer simulation where each side has four players (you can control 1 or 2 by yourself, or play with a friend to control all four). Again, controls are very intuitive; you move with the nunchuk joystick, press the A button to pass and the B button to shoot (on offense) and press the A button to intercept (on defense). It plays a lot like ice hockey in the Vancouver version.

Gymnastics: Events here include rhythmic ribbon (inspired by Isaac Perry's review, I decided to choose Bowser to dance to the Blue Danube), where you dance around and have to move the remote or press buttons in time to on-screen cues. Uneven bars is a fun activity where you have to time your character as he or she spins and jumps from bar to bar. Trampoline is different from the original version in that you don't need to press a specific set of keys to earn points, but rather create your own routines by shifting the Wii remote in certain ways with the right timing.

Shooting: This was another game I thought had been done to death, but it turned out to be surprisingly fun. You have a limited amount of time to point your Wii remote at the target and shoot it. The targets get increasingly smaller, so it's not as easy as you might think to get a straight shot in. If you happen to have a gun attachment, this one is actually pretty realistic.

Table Tennis: This was another one like badminton. It's not close to a realistic simulation like the Wii Sports Resort version. Instead, it's more a game of timing, where you need to swipe at the ball at the right time. As in badminton, the "power shot" feature makes gameplay a lot shorter.

Track and Field: There are a number of events within track and field. Of course there are the races where you need to waggle your remote fast to win, as well as a realistic relay race. For the field events, there's the discus, the javelin, the hammer throw, and the long jump, which all involve a variation of moving the Wii remote in the right way and then pressing a button to release with proper timing.

Volleyball: This was another of my favorites. It's a great simulation of beach volleyball where you use your Nunchuk to direct one of two team members to the middle of a round target and the A button to hit the ball. The closer you get to the center of the target the more powerful your hit will be. As with badminton and table tennis, you can build up energy to do "power spikes".

You can play each event individually, or compete in a adventure mode called "London Party Mode" where you play a series of events and collect in-game stickers.

In addition, there are a number of "dream events" which are basically mini-games loosely based on Olympic events and taking place in environments familiar to anyone who's played games like Super Mario Galaxy or Super Mario Kart. One particularly fun one has up to four people trying to control a team of horses as they ride through Moo Moo Meadows. Another has you bouncing on clouds trying to be the last one standing. Overall, these mini-games were a lot of fun, if not a little disjointed from the rest of the experience.

All of these games had a couple things in common. First of all, the controls were extremely intuitive; someone who's new to the game can easily pick up a Wii remote and start playing competitively after only one or two tries. Second, the games for the most part supported either competitive or co-op play from 2 to 4 players, which can be a lot of fun in a party setting. As much hype as the PS3 and the Xbox have gotten, the Wii still reigns supreme for any game that requires more than 2 players, as you don't need to squeeze everyone into a limited camera shot. Third, the motion control responsiveness is superb. This is something not a lot of game publishers outside of Nintendo have done very well after all these years, but Sega has done a pretty good job. You're focusing on playing the sports, not figuring out the controls.

The negatives about the game are ones we've seen in many Wii games before. There are many activities where it's easy to get tangled in the Nunchuk and Wii Remote wires. I've already mentioned that a few of the games aren't realistic, but having said that, as long as you go in with the right expectations they're still pretty enjoyable. And from an aesthetic point of view, the game is a lot like the 2008 version; there are only so many ways to draw graphics on the Wii screen. Also, there's no online multiplayer play, which would have been interesting as the real Olympics came around.

But overall, I found this game to be refreshingly enjoyable, especially when playing with multiple people.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, news of the Wii's demise have been greatly exaggerated. For months since the Xbox Kinect and the Playstation Move were announced, many people have been predicting the end of the Wii. But as long as companies like Sega continue to put out inventive games like this one that maximize the platform with both creativity and good execution, I'd say the Wii still has plenty of life in it.

Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympics is great family friendly game. I was reluctant to get this game at first because I usually play games alone. It is a 4 player "party" type game full of mini events from the Olympics as well as "Dream events" that take place in mario and sonic based levels. The game has a great cast of mario and sonic characters as well as the use of your Mii's.After doing events you get scratch cards that you can win music from Mario and sonic games as well as costumes for your Mii, the costumes add Stats to you me such as Speed and Power that will applay to your mii in events.

On top of all the great fun events There is London party mode where you can travel around the city playing mini games like Find Espio ,and Olympic trivia to collect stickers.

The game has great controls and is challenging enough for an experienced gammer. The game also has online leaderbourds so you can see how good you are vs players from around the world in some events.

I've been having soo much fun playing this alone and can't wait to play with frinds it has a great amount of content, this was a excellent purchase. Highly recomend for your self or family.

Seeing Dr. Eggman do the rhythmic ribbon alone will justify buying this game

My son loves this game. Then asks me why this, that or the other thing about half the game, because he can't figure it out.I feel that kids will find the positives in this game and will love it for that. For me it is too basic for experienced video gamers and not flexible enough for beginners. Controls are often shake wii and press b. Other times I feel like i'm doing yoga. I read good reviews about previous olympics and my son wanted this so I bought it. He loves mario tennis and baseball so I got this for him.

I like the fencing, swimming, horses, long jumping. My son likes more than that. But we play half the game. The rest is just not good. Soccer "football" is awful. Hurdles? Maybe I need Tommy John surgery but I take 8th every time. Yet I take first in swimming every time. So am I good, bad, or crazy?

Half fun. Kids still love it.

Driver: San Francisco is not just "yet another" Driver title to tack onto the legacy of the first two games. The developers said that they wanted to go back to the drawing board and figure out what made Driver 1 so good and why Driv3r and Driver: Parallel lines was so bad. They figured it out.

I don't have to really talk about the good and bad because there's just not much bad to the game at all. But let's break it down:

Ghostly "Shift" mode

--------------------

The biggest change of the game is the ability to alter your mental perception from one driver in a car to another driver in another car. I thought that I'd hate this shifting experience, but it really works and adds something new to the game.

When you're in a tough chase or see a car that has the right speed or maneuverability, you can simply jam the A button and pick another car to drive.

Although I still like the original Driver better because you had to haul and make few to no mistakes to get away from the cops, the shifting ability still adds so much to the gameplay that I am forced to love it. And you can still drive hard to get away from the cops (or the bad guys) when you want to -and sometimes the game makes you.

The Physics

-----------

I really liked the physics of the first Driver game whereas many people didn't. This game sits somewhere between realistic and Need for Speed. You can get in a 200 mph front-end collision and be just fine. Your car will take a lot of damage, but the damage doesn't appear to take its toll on your car as much as you might think it should.

That said, you can still feel the rubber hitting the road. And when you get air, the car feels like you might think it should.

The Story and Its Presentation

------------------------------

The story is presented in full-screen video between levels and in little dialog segments while playing. But they have done an outstanding job on the graphics, facial expression, character animation and voice acting.

You'll be drawn into the story of a drug/crime lord from Driver 1 (he may be in some of the other Driver games, too -I'm not 100% sure). But you won't need any Driver 1 playtime to understand everything because of how it's all set up. You'll see strong emotional responses from the 3D models that will suck you in and relate with the characters as much as you might a decent RPG. More than you'd expect in a driving game.

Just Playing

------------

Some people just want a driving game. You can skip through the story elements and just follow the on-screen objectives. Or you can play one of several (it must be 20 or 30) other modes, both single and multiplayer.

Graphics

--------

The cars are realistic. The people on the streets look decent. The buildings look pretty good. What I love is that the motion blur is perfect. Not too much, not too little. Some games, you can't tell what's going on from all the blur. And in other games, it doesn't feel like you're really going fast. Driver SF pulls it off nicely.

Sound and Music

---------------

The car sounds are quite good. The rumbling and roaring of the engines rarely becomes monotonous or annoying. That must have taken a miracle from their sound department. The music is often catchy or fun or simply takes a back-seat while the game's intense action pulls you in. You'll recognize a lot of the songs.

Quick Moral Note

----------------

You play a good guy in this game. There are lots of shades of gray going on, but you're overall a good guy. So if you don't like to play games where you're killing cops and junk, don't worry about it here. Your goal is to lose the cops because they don't know you are a cop.

Overall Feel

------------

You may feel like me to start with: unable to drive. But with just a tiny bit of practice and just a little time, you'll have the game mastered enough to have an insanely fun time. I picked it up quicker than the first Driver game because the controls make more sense to me. Everything feels like it belongs where it is.

Final Judgment: A-grade Game!

Finally, Driver fans will get a game worth playing.

This game is so much fun and pulse pounding that it makes me sweat everytime I get into the action. Let's just say I haven't experienced this type of a rush in racing games since Burnout Revenge circa '06. So it's been a long time for me, I typically avoid racing games. This game absolutely lives up to its hype. I love everything about it. The story is awesome, however it seems like it gets off track just a little bit with the quirky side missions. Don't get me wrong they are fun but I cannot seem to tie them into the main story...anyway, that doesn't take away from any fun the game has to offer. I put about 3 hours into this game thus far and I'm in Chapter 2 right now. So far I am really enjoying myself. NOTE if you are a hardcore racer, then you may think this game is kinda corny. I played NFS Hot Pursuit and I had fun, but this game seems to be more of my speed. I like Driver San Francisco because it's Story Mode is cool, I think Driving/Racing games are cool as long as they have some decent story that I can follow. All and all, I highly recommend this game if you are a casual racing fan, but If you are hardcore with it, they I recommend you wait until a more hardcore racer comes out. Thanks

Ps. The cars are licensed so they look great, so far I've upgraded with prizes to a Dodge Challenger SRT-8 and boy does it move!!!!

I'll admit right at the top, I have been a fan of the Driver series since the first one. After the disappointing Driv3r, I abandoned the series. I've been wanting a Driver game for awhile now that got that feeling of the original back. This game does it.

Gameplay:

I played the demo and was a little concerned about the controls. Once I played the actual game, the concerns disappeared. The cars all handle differently, some better than others. Some of the initial cars were pretty stiff in the handling department, but once I got into a Lamborghini, the handling was superb. Flying through the streets of San Francisco felt awesome, especially at 200+ m.p.h.

This game is pretty laid-back. You can take it at about any pace. Don't feel like doing story missions? Just drive around the city, play the dares, finish challenges, etc. You can play this game at your own pace.

The "Shift" mechanic is actually pretty cool. It is worked well into the story too. Some of the funnest moments I had were when I was chasing down some street racers, I would shift into a large semi-truck, park it perpendicular to the freeway, then watch as all the street racers smashed in to it totaling their cars.

Graphics:

The graphics were about on par with anything else this generation. The best effects happened when you're speeding along at 150+ m.p.h. the blur effect really gives this game a sense of speed. I didn't notice anything really out of the ordinary such as graphical glitches.

Cutscenes come in two shapes, rendered CG and using the in-game engine. Sometime conversations will happen while you're driving and you'll see two characters conversing, one on each upper corner of your screen.

San Francisco looks great, from right down on the street to when you're looking over the entire city while in shift.

Sound:

Lots of music, but to be honest I never really heard anything that caught my ear. The soundtrack was pretty forgettable.

Dialogue is cheesy but it works. It gives this game a goofy, but good personality.

Other Notes:

This game features a ton of licensed cars, not generic ripoffs like GTA.

I 100% completed the single player and it was not very difficult, but I thought it struck a fine balance of fun and difficulty.

I didn't play the multiplayer so I cannot comment on how that is.

This game plays like an arcade game, not a simulation. Sim-fans look elsewhere.

Summary:

This game won't appeal to everybody. If you enjoy car chases, fun but not-to-hard challenges, a laid-back gaming experience, this game is for you.

This game is worthy of the Driver name and made me remember the good times I had with Driver 1 & 2.

This game is a ton of fun and I really enjoyed it.

Honest reviews on Driver San Francisco - Xbox 360

I got this game because Zero Punctuation gave it an uncharacteristically positive review, plus it was based in San Francisco & I'm from the area. It sounded like a lot of fun to be able to take the same streets at top speed.

The game feels like an alternate version of Grand Theft Auto that concentrates on driving missions. Controls are basically the same, the emphasis on mayhem is the same, the cliched movie-style plot is the same. However the whole device of being able to take over people's cars on a split second notice (through astral projection) is such an out-there idea that works so well. It's not like stealing a car in Grand Theft Auto for instance in car chases you can momentarily commandeer passing cars and send them suicidally careening into police cars. Also it makes it easy to do absurd stunts like fly down the wrong way of the freeway, with no real in-game penalty. And if you're just playing a short game, it's easy to "hop" into some random race or challenge or just free-form driving.

So if I found that very fun, there were some glaring problems. First of all...unlike earlier versions of Driver, the game isn't based off a real map. There's a lot of hills, it's near the ocean, and there's a dozen or so city landmarks, but it's not San Francisco. Nor does it really have a San Francisco sort of feel to it for instance it will tell you what neighborhood you're in, but the look of the area doesn't resemble the real neighborhood at all. I can imagine this being totally unimportant to a lot of players, but personally I wanted to fly down Mission and maybe run over a hipster or two. The buildings felt a little like painted blocks and devoid of character, and furthermore car crashes weren't handled very well. So I was expecting the game to have a lot more character than it actually had. Additionally, the AI kind of sucks, which is particularly frustrating when you jump out of a car and then jump back in two seconds later, only to find the computer AI has decided to back up and head the opposite direction for no good reason.

I wasn't sure what to expect with yet another story-driven driving game but this title brings a ton of adrenaline with it. I didn't stop playing this one until I had beaten it.

The big gameplay mechanic of this game is the ability to "shift" out of your car and become the driver of another car. Another way of thinking of this is you are an agent out of the Matrix, being able to assume control over any random person at any time (but in this case, just drivers of cars). Someone getting away and you can't catch up? Shift out of your car and put yourself in the driver's seat in another car a mile down the road in oncoming traffic, then slam head on into your target! Did they get away? Do it again!

Are you being chased by a huge pack of bad guys? Shift out, find a nearby diesel rig and take over it, drive towards your car (which is on autopilot at this point), hit the emergency brakes and slide the rig out to create a wall for all the cars to crash into, ensuring your getaway.

There are a few different types of mini games you can involve yourself in, including assuming control of cop cars and taking out bad guys within a time limit. If you've done cop missions in the Grand Theft Auto series, this is similar, just more fun.

The scenery is varied; you can race on windy mountain roads, corner your way through a downtown environment, hit the freeways for maximum speed, and it's all presented in a smooth, elegant fashion.

The story itself is rather basic and serves to just set up the set pieces and get out of the way, which is all it needs to do.

Kudos to the developers for this one, they hit a home run. Outside of the simulation mastery that is the Forza Motorsport series, this driving game offers great arcade-style action that is pretty simple to pick up and play.

I remember the old days when X-men was at the arcade eating

quarter after another, and men, boys, and preps form endless line

just waiting to kick your butt,to see who's the # 1 fighter.

Anyway...this game is what started the whole VS title, and it

remained as one of the top classic game of all time. The arcade

version was fast and furious, which why i give only 4 star to the playastation 1 ,The PS1 version is terribly slow in both visually and physicly.Still, capcom doesn't make games like this

anymore.Get this game while you can, because this title is

becoming rare just like X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTER.Retail stores

like Gamestop and EB games rarely have them in stock.Even if they

do they'll charge you $50 to $70 buck for a new and use one.

I Like this game a lot although the character selection of only 10 fighters (Cyclops, Wolverine, Psylocke, Iceman, Colossus, Storm, Spiral, Silver Samurai, Omega Red and A sleek version of a Sentinel to boot) is small. This is the first of a seemingly endless array of sequels for the Playstaton and Dreamcast systems. Nicely done graphics, music gets a little too heroic at times but the gameplay itself is almost flawless!! If you're a Street Fighter and X-Men fan, this game is a must!!! Note: To younger kids, this game is pretty difficult even on easy for someone less than 15...

Best Deals for X-Men: Children of the Atom - PlayStation

Capcom's X-Men: Children of the Atom is essentially Street Fighter with Wolverine and co. instead of Ryu and the bunch. During it's time in arcades, X-Men was tried but true 2-D fighting greatness with excellent graphics, addictive gameplay, and an actually innovative fighting system. The first home system the game was released for was Sega's ill-fated 32 bit Saturn system. The game translated much better on that system than it does on the PS1, as this conversion is loaded with sloppy animation glitches, plenty of slowdown, long loading times, and some painful controls. Because the PS1 is a 32-bit system, it simply doesn't have the power to generate the fast paced action of the arcade version. This game, and plenty of other Capcom 2-D fighters (including X-Men VS Street Fighter, Marvel VS Capcom, etc.) never did translate well to Sony's first money making video game system (funny how many of them fared better on the Saturn), and only when the more powerful systems that would be released later would Capcom's 2-D fighting games be anywhere as good as they were in arcades. If you're an X-Men fan, this may be worth a look, but the Marvel VS Capcom games that were released for the Dreamcast and current systems like the PS2 and XBox are much more worth your time.

I have my own copy of this old yet very fun game. I love this game, the only character in there I play as is Akuma from "Super Street Fighter 2 turbo" and he seems to have all his moves from the Street Fighter game he has his dual air fireballs, "In the Street Fighter game if you're playing as Akuma you only can throw one air-fireball at one time only, of course in this game he has both of Ryu's and Kens super combos now at his disposal. I only play this game as Akuma and no one else. He is my all time favourite character in this great game. I absolutely love this game, "X-Men: Children of the Atom" the graphics are not that great but you can still have alot of fun with this great game. Playing the game as Akuma is like I said the best part of the game, doing the code for him is very simple and very easy to remember. Unfortunately you cannot save your scores in it like most games, but like I said it is still a fun and great game. I just might play it as soon as I am done writting this review on this great and wonderful game.

I bought this thing back in June because my 2 roommates and I had been burning through batteries like nobody's business. It was kind of confusing at first because the package said it was supposed to flash red at low power, flash red at a slower pace when at medium charge, then be solid green when it was fully charged. It just flashed continuously red all the time but it charged fine, so that was ok.

Just recently however, one of the battery packs stopped charging. The wiimote would sit on the pad and flash continuously as it normally does, then we'd try and use it and it would have absolutely no power whatsoever. Pushing a button on the wiimote didn't even cause one of the four lights on the bottom to flash at all. Wrote it off as a lost cause, but now my other battery pack doesn't charge either. Got a good few months out of it but for the price I'd much rather get at least a couple of years.

Reading the other reviews it seems like some of the panels work great and others only work for a few months and then sputter out. Sounds like a manufacturing defect to me. For this reason, I can't recommend this product. It was a great idea, really cool, looks sexy and is a great conversation piece (the phrase "inductive charging" tends to elicit lots of "oohs" and "ahhs") but now it's just a broken piece of equipment I spent 30 bucks on.... and now we're back to letting our wiimotes munch on Duracells.

This is a good item but, it was difficult to find replacement batteries. I went to Energizer.com and called the 800 number. I was transferred at least 4 times but the reps were very helpful and once I reached the right dept I was very pleased. The rep took my information and they are sending me replacement batteries free of charge. If you need replacement batteries call: 1-800-331-3844 Website: hope this helps someone.

I just picked up this charger last night and I will update this review later but I did want to mention one thing. I have found out through reading reviews that several other induction chargers will not charge the black wii remotes with the black silicone sleeve on. Supposedly because it is to thick. THIS CHARGE DOES CHARGE THE BLACK WII REMOTES WITH THE BLACK SILICON COVERS ON!!! I set the controllers to charge overnight so I am not sure if the black and white controllers charge just as fast or what but I will update this review after a while of use. I just wanted people out there with black wii remotes to know that this will work for them. The only catch is the battery cover is white but that doesn't matter if you put your black sleeve back on. Other than that the charger seems great. It glows red when its charging and green when its done. Simple.

Honest reviews on Wii Energizer Flat Panel 2x Induction Charger

I've tried other rechargeable battery inserts to no avail. This one is great! It's easy to use and I've never had the batteries run out during game play yet. Also, unlike other flat panel induction chargers, there are no weird clips or attachments to put onto the remote while it's charging you just drop the controller off and walk away.

It's perfect. Well worth the price.

Dont even bother purchasing. Right out of the box, one of the batteries failed, giving a blinking red battery light. I returned the item and received another one which stopped working after 1 charge on each battery. Both batteries give the blinking red light now.

Since i was unable to recharge the energizer batteries anymore, i recently purchased a pack of Sanyo Eneloop batteries. I noticed they were lasting a lot longer than the one charge i had on the enrgizer batteries. So out of curiousity,i took apart the Energizer battery cases apart and found they were using AAA batteries (not AA) with 600mAh of juice. The Eneloop AA batteries which i used with my Wii controllers were 2000mAh. Even their AAA batteries had more juice at 800mAh. You might as well get a set of normal batteries. Not only will they last longer but they will work!

This game is better then they say it is. It starts off slow and you might not like it, then next thing you know I was hooked. I found myself saying this might just be better then Dead Space 3. If you want coop then go with Dead Space 3. It has multiplayer, which is a nice break from the campaign if your playing on hard. 20-30 hours of story mode gameplay and I skipped stuff. Story is the first game to make me almost cry. I think they did a nice job with this game and I hope the next game is even better. Dead Space needs to step it up because they just might have got beat.

While I enjoyed Lost Planet 2, Lost Planet 3 is by far my favorite of the series. The gameplay is solid and the story is very well written. The graphics are amazing and made me feel like I was playing on the next gen Xbox! The game offers a lot to keep you interested in both the single player and multiplayer portions. Overall, this is a great 3rd person action/shooter that has provided me with hours of entertainment. Definitely recommend!

Best Deals for Lost Planet 3 - Xbox 360

When I first got an XBox 360 there were two games that I picked up right off the bat. The first was a game called Dead Rising by Capcom and the other was published by Capcom as well. That game was called Lost Planet and it was one of those games that was not only fun to play but had a great story as well. The sequel left lots to be desired as it felt less like a Lost Planet game and felt more like a grindfest. Now the folks over at Capcom are coming back with Lost Planet 3 but is this going to be a better game or should you not go to this planet?

This game is actually a prequel to the first game as the planet of E.D.N III is a frozen wasteland. You play the role of Jim Peyton as you have made your way to this planet to help mine minerals for the NEVEC corporation. This prequel has a few variances from the first game as there are no VS mechs (which were the military equipped mechs) but instead there are Rigs. These mechs are equipped with devices such as drill arms which help them dig out the precious minerals.

The best thing about this prequel is that it is nothing like the second game. Gone are the countless hours of grinding and there is an actual story with sidequests. These side quests can be important to your character as they can be used to not only upgrade your equipment but also build your own rig. Also the thermal energy that was used in the first game is no longer used as a life support gimmick (as in you don't have to constantly kill enemies to keep alive). Instead it is used as currency that can be used to purchase items. The akrid will be making a comeback as you will fight waves of these bugs to stay alive on the planets frozen surface.

And that's what I love about this game as it is focusing on a glorious single player experience. There is a multiplayer aspect to the game as well but it is not forsaken for a great single player campaign. If you are a fan of this series I strongly urge you to run out and get this game as it will not disappoint like the last one.

Honest reviews on Lost Planet 3 - Xbox 360

I bought Lost Planet: Extreme Condition when it originally launched, as it was a showpiece for Xbox 360 at the time, but it wasn't that great of a game. For whatever reason, though, Extreme Condition garnered a cult following given that there was little competition at the time. While it was a pretty game with fantastic snow effects, its gameplay was rather mediocre and its anime cast of characters with goofy voice acting didn't particularly keep me engaged. Given Keiji Inafune's involvement with Extreme Condition, I was willing to give it a fair shake, but I ultimately found it to be a pretty mediocre experience throughout.

Fast forward around 3 years later and we were greeted to Lost Planet 2, a co-op spin on Lost Planet's formula. While its main component was its co-op, you could play it entirely solo. However, the game felt broken, frustrating, and many of the boss battles would go on forever in solo mode, making it a repetitive chore to play alone. And guess what? Playing with friends only made your friends have to deal with the repetitive slog that was Lost Planet 2. So despite its shortcomings, was the story at least good? That'd be a no. As I said, this is mainly a co-op game and as such the story was completely throwaway. You want characters with personalities? Nope, not gonna get that with Lost Planet 2. Lost Planet 2 was rock bottom for the franchise.

Fast forward another 3 years and now we have Lost Planet 3, returning the franchise back to its roots with characters, a story, etc. While the first two games were developed internally at Capcom, Lost Planet 3 was outsourced to Spark Unlimited, which should raise a red flag if you're aware of their past work, notably Turning Point: Fall of Liberty and Legendary, two incredibly low budget first-person shooters with grand ideas and a whole lot of potential but both failing to realize any of it. So while I wasn't exactly too optimistic about Lost Planet 3's chances of being a good game, I figured it couldn't get any worse than Lost Planet 2, and you know what? I was right. So let's see how Lost Planet 3 turned out, shall we?

First and foremost, Lost Planet 3 is essentially Aliens meets Dead Space. If you were one of the few people who actually liked previous Lost Planet's and don't like Aliens and Dead Space, you know, Lost Planet 3 may not be for you. Now that I've said that, let me say that Lost Planet 3 is hands down the best game in the franchise. Forgoing its more linear roots, Lost Planet 3 opens up with hub environments much like an RPG, allowing you to explore, take on main quests, side quests, collect text and audio logs, talk to people, etc. It's certainly a radical departure from the series' roots, but it's also more in line with the style of games I typically prefer to play. It's more open and more ambitious while retaining some linearity and scripting during missions. Honestly, I didn't think the developer, Spark Unlimited, was capable of making a game like this, however it's nice to be surprised and proven wrong.

Gameplay: It's essentially a third-person shooter mixed with mech sections. While it plays a whole lot better than past Lost Planet's, it's not the most fluid playing game, however it's not bad at all and certainly mechanically sound overall. A lot of it was obviously inspired by Dead Space.

Graphics: I was honestly shocked at how nice this game looked. Facial animations are generally expressive, lighting looks really nice, art direction is superb, textures range from serviceable to excellent in detail, and the whole game just has great atmosphere.

Sound: Voice acting is top notch and the radio in your mech is pretty goofy but fun to listen to. There's also some great ambient music sprinkled throughout.

Story & Characters: Both are way better than I expected. Likable characters and a narrative that you want to see through to the conclusion.

So while Lost Planet 3 isn't a perfect game that's going to be named one of the best games ever, it's still a game that's way better than it had any right to be. I really enjoyed this one.

Its not the most interesting game, but I like the storyline. Its just not as good as the past lost planets.

It could have been better. The graphics and playability are pretty good its just that its not very open ended in what paths or events you can choose and I finished the game very quickly.
