Maybe my opion is jaded since so many downright BAD games have come out for the 360, but this game is not bad. The controls seem pretty realistic, not twitchy or loose, actually the guns all have a lot of recoil so running around and shooting can be difficult, you really are better off finding cover and picking people off. There is a decent assortment of weapons, a pretty diverse assortment of levels, actually in all honesty, the final level takes place on Air Force One, and I would argue that although this level is probably the shortest in the game, and the final 'boss' may be very well one of the easiest ever, the level itself was very very fun and unique.

As far as first person shooters go you can do a lot worse (games like Legendary, Turning Point, Wanted etc). This game will take you about 8-10 hours to beat, and you may want to play through again to touch up on some of the achievements and collectibles etc, but the 8-10 hours really will be enjoyed since this game does offer something a little different.

Games Alright. Basic Next-Gen Graphics that look nice. Your Average FPS Gameplay and a Great story to top it all. Some cool looking Weapons. I think its the Only game on the market based on the Secret Service.

Best Deals for Secret Service: Ultimate Sacrifice - Xbox 360

I bought this game simply for the Gamerscore. It takes 1-2 days to max it out. The game itself is a sub-par shooter, but does have some cool elements. Tracked miniguns, cool music and the setting of modern blockbuster films lends this title some credibility despite its poor game mechanics. It is an FPS, but again, the core of this game is not sound. So, but this for some quick and somewhat easy achievements. If you are looking for a better game without regard to achievements, try Bioshock, Call of Duty or Halo.

I purchased this for my 15 yr old son. He seems to like it a lot. I find it annoying because of the sound track and all the violence.

Lego Rock Band - Nintendo Wii Reviews

Lego Rock Band - Nintendo Wii

We love Rock Band in our house but, by our own admission, we aren't great musicians. Well okay, one of my kids is, but it's a drag when there's only one and you can't simply 'play along' as the game advances because the songs get that much more difficult.

But with this version you can play along not only without a penalty for choosing 'easy', you can even choose a super easy/no fail mode so you simply can't mess up and still have fun playing. If you don't do anything you won't get the stars you need but if you do a minimal amount (i.e. hit ANY drum pad when the note needs to be played or 'strum' the guitar/bass at the right time no need to press a button or simply speak in time to the microphone) you'll be fine.

Lots of the same fun things as in Rock Band make your own people, buy cool outfits & things for them. In addition this version has challenges which you can play and fun lego scenes occur as you 'rock' the house (typically you earn these as you successfully play songs in venues). The first one (and on a trailer so I'm not giving much away) is playing loud enough (getting enough stars) to knock down a building. And yes, we have successfully completed these challenges with two out of the three on the no fail mode.

This version is clearly geared for a slightly younger set both in terms of the no-fail option and in terms of avoiding excessive profanity/explicit content in songs. Makes us no never mind we're enjoying it immensely!

edited to add:

The review who said this does not have online support is right. For those familiar with Rockband, this version is like a hybrid track pack. You get new people, scenarios and venues to work your way through, but the songs are the songs which are included and you cannot buy new songs to play (I can't see that this'd change with this version going to the online store to buy new tracks is not even shown as an option).

This is the first "band" type game we've owned. My son has played Guitar Hero at a friends and wanted that one but I was hesitant because of the play list. Doing a little research at our local video gaming store, I found out both the Rockband and Guitar Hero folks were releasing more family friendly play lists. We took a look at both but when we found Lego Rock Band and also Rock Band Country the choice was easy. After the first night's jam session we're all hooked. It's so much fun for the entire family and my husband and I are introducing our 9 year old to some great music. Our son has been a Queen fan for years but now he's into Bryan Adams, Tom Petty and Bon Jovi. Like all the other Lego games, this one doesn't disappoint at all. The in-between videos are funny, the whole lego character build gives you tons of combinations and all the venues are "very cool" according to WolfJack lead guitarist of the band Howl (current on tour in our basement).

I highly recommend this one for kids but all the adults in the house are enjoying it just as much. My husband's band "Blind Shrimp" just bought a new bus and I may never see him again! Guess I'll just have to become a groupie.

A simple two part review:

First, Lego Rock Band is cool. My kids (7,6,4) love it, and we've had a great time playing it today. Minifigs look great, songs are interesting, and the Super Easy modes (and especially the no drum pedal) option are really nice for the smaller kids.

Second, no additional content for the Wii! Contrary to what the product description says above, you can not use DLC from Rock Band 2 on Lego Rock Band if you have a Wii. If you have a Wii you will only ever play Lego Rock Band with those 45 songs. That's it. This was incredibly disappointing, because there are a ton of previous and downloadable RB songs that all my kids know, but that they need the extra-Easy modes to be able to play.

I absolutely would not have bought the game had I understood that, and I would have known if the product description hadn't been wrong, so I'm very frustrated. That being said, it's not that Lego Rock Band for the Wii is a bad game experience, it's just a big step backward for Rock Band on the Wii.

Honest reviews on Lego Rock Band - Nintendo Wii

***This game CANNOT be played with just a Wiimote it requires additional equipment.***

You will need at least a microphone or wii guitar to play and you can add a drum set & second guitar if you like. We purchased our microphone at a used game store for thirteen dollars and are using guitars from the Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock, G.H. World Tour, and an older G.H. Les Paul. We are also using the drum set from G.H. World Tour.

My husband loves to play guitar hero but the game is designed for teenagers to adults (sexy, somewhat scary characters and heavy rock music). Since we have two young children in our home, ages 7 & 1, I wanted a more family friendly option that the whole family could play together. We found it with the Lego Rock Band!

This game allows for up to four players: singer (microphone), guitar, bass guitar, and drums so it is great for families or groups of friends. We've had 3 people playing so far and it was great fun for all. My favorite thing about this game is that you can change the difficulty level for play before each song. This was important for us because originally we had 1 guitar and we were sharing it and taking turns playing. Dad could set his for "expert" on his turn and I could change it to "easy" on mine without having to back out to the title menu. Now we have multiple guitars, a drum set, & the microphone so we can all play at once but we trade parts between songs a lot and like the ease of changing the difficulty to make it challenging for each individual(our toddler sings along and provides the dancing and often helps out the drummer by banging away).

My 7 year old tried to play Guitar Hero with his dad several times but the songs kept shutting off because he would make too many mistakes and drag the crowd meter down too low. On the Lego Rock Band he can play either guitar part or sing and make it through the game feeling successful and having fun on the beginner or easy mode. He also has played the drum on the beginner setting and has been very successful in his mind, but the rest of us have great difficulty making it through a song when he plays the drum since he doesn't maintain the beat for us and he plays all sorts of drumming that doesn't belong:)

"Beginner" setting is great for younger kids since it allows any level of musical ability (or lack) progress through the game. On this setting the singer needs to make noise throughout the song (attempt to sing, say the words, sing la la la etc). This setting for the guitar parts means you strum when the notes come by but aren't held responsible for the fret. For the drum you just have to hit any pad when the note comes by...my son just bangs wildly on all the drums and attains about 80% or better on a song for drumming but as mentioned above it is hard on the other players since all his wild drumming is played as the drum beat for the song and leaves others nothing to follow but the visuals.

There is a just-play mode & a story mode. Both are fun to play and in either mode each player has the option of difficulty level. The story mode allows you to build up fans & money by playing gigs (getting stars for songs). You can spend your money on new guitars & stuff for your band. The practice mode just lets you pick & play from the song list. You can also make your own set list & play multiple songs in the order you choose.

I recommend this game for families to play together or for children who are interested in the rock band or guitar hero games but may not need the exposure to the costuming in the "teen" games or who are more interested in POP music than rock or metal. (My niece & nephew are both teenagers and while they prefer the "Teen" band games at their own home, they are not above jumping into our Lego Rock Band when they are visiting). The set list has a sampling of different songs that allow something for everyone and the characters while not sexy or scary are amusing and fun to customize and add a sense of humor to the game.

Lego Rock Band ROCKS! It has a "Super Easy" mode, so even my 5-year-old could enjoy playing (granted, we're a musical family and he plays lots of rhythms already). My 10-year-old loves it, and so do I. We also have the "regular" Rock Band 2 (and the Beatles tracks), but this is actually my favorite right now. It's fun all playing together, and my daughter enjoys "Story Mode" when playing by herself. I had been hesitant to buy it, and I'm so glad I did. I think we'll be getting lots of use out of this disc.

Red Dead Revolver - Xbox Reviews

Red Dead Revolver - Xbox
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Deliver some lead in this spaghetti western videogame!

Red is a gunner with a Clint Eastwood face (I would not be surprised if good old Clint sued Rockstar for using a skin that is a bit too close to his likeness). His parents were murdered when he was a child, his father's legendary gun, "the Scorpion Revolver," robbed. Now that he is old and skilled with all sorts of weapons, Red is on a quest to avenge his parents, get that gun and kill anything that gets into his way.

This game is an excellent western, and here are its game characteristics:

Graphics: 9 out of 10.

^^^^^^^^ Its like being at the movies, great 3D animation and wonderful graphic engine. The wild west finally revives...

Sound: 10 out of 10.

^^^^^ Music seem to come directly from the The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Sound FXs are perfect, voiceovers are well done.

Atmosphere: 9 out of 10.

^^^^^^^^^^ Story, voicovers, music, and graphics will all contribute to a perfect western experience. Gun slinging, western humour, duels... you get everything.

Gameplay: 8 out of 10.

^^^^^^^^ Yes good, but a bit too arcade "kill them all." You will have a LOT of fun though, expecially if you like things simple and entertaining. Plus, not only you command Red around the game, you will use also a cast of other 5 perfectly designed characters.

The Bottom Line:

Thus is a GOOD BUY:

1) for western movie fans.

2) for Rockstar Game fans.

3) for action oriented gamers tired of battling undead that jump out of the sewers or aliens in airshafts.

For all others, this is a possibly good game on which to spend your money, as its overall quality is undeniably great.

If you're an avid fan of the western and a gamer to boot, then "Red Dead Revolver" is the only game in town that should get a tip of your hat. Western-themed games are rare to say the least, and good ones are rarer still. This is the latter kind, and its mature themes make it even more remarkable it's as close as you'll ever get to playing through an old Clint Eastwood film.

You're cast as Red, a bounty hunter who's seeking to avenge the murder of his parents. His quest takes him through many bizarre locations and pits him against a wide variety of murderous outlaws. It's his job to shoot first and ask questions later... then again, he doesn't really ask questions, he just shoots people and leaves it at that.

The game's levels are usually brief affairs that revolve around one particular set piece or another and are jam-packed full of people to kill. Fortunately, all that killing is mighty satisfying. There's hardly a wide variety of weapons to help you along despite the designers' best efforts to bring variety to the period setting, but the weapons that exist are cool enough to compensate. Area specific damage and gouts of blood and gore keep things visceral and compelling. Red can fire from cover if things get too hectic, but it's generally not an essential tactic even if it is a welcome option. He's also got a Max Payne-like ability called "Dead Eye," which allows him to slow time and take steady aim at his opponents.

You don't only play as Red during the course of the game. There are several other characters and storylines to delve into, and while they sometimes steer the focus of the game's story in the wrong direction, it's generally a welcome change of pace. Red's native cousin, Shadow Wolf, enjoys a particularly entertaining mission that encourages stealth and a fair aim with a bow and arrow. Some of the other character missions feel tacked on, though such as the Buffalo Soldier's wagon ride back to town.

What's a western-themed action game without the occasional duel? Drawing on opponents is handled like a sort of minigame that generally fits well into the scheme of things. Unfortunately, it's too frustrating, particularly later in the game. It's more a matter of a luck than skill, and certainly could have been handled with more flair.

It's far from perfect, but "Red Dead Revolver" should provide hours of fairly mindless but addictive fun. With the lack of competition, it easily earns its place as the best western-themed game ever released. If this kind of thing rubs you the right way, go grab a copy.

Final Score: B

Good game which I enjoyed. The game is challenging in some places but not impossible. To me its more of an old school game were you might get beat a couple of times until you change you strategy and I would rather get some challenge with a game then speed through it.

There are some levels in the game which are frustrating for one reason or another. The most annoying I can think of is the Diago stage since the game is very vague about explaining what your supposed to be doing while your getting shot at with cannons which is a bad thing. The key to making the game easier is to focus on getting head shots. Focusing on head shots makes the game a lot less frustrating.

The atmosphere and music in the game was very well done a lot of the voice acting is over the top and funny in a good way. The voice acting of the main character was little to similar to Solid Snake. The music is similar to Kill Bill which I thought had a great soundtrack so its a plus here.

The graphics are good, and I like that the cut scenes were done to imitate old movie reels with scratchs and dirt. Character models are well done and the levels are well designed.

There have been a lot of complaints about the dueling system which isn't perfect but isn't impossible. The key is drawing your gun out quickly. Theres a slight pause when the game is showing Red and the enemy and then goes full screen. If you time it right you can usually get a shot off first. I didn't have a problem until the end when the time gets a lot shorter for you to shoot.

The story is your basic revenge story so while it does a good job of drawing out the outcome, the outcome is always assured. Playing as different characters throughout the game adds some variety to the levels. Also having a town as a homebase works well. Red Dead Revolver also has a fun multiplayer mode with over 20 characters.

So overall Red Dead Revolver was a fun game that had some frustrating parts that were challenging but not impossible. It does a great job with the western genre but its not that long of a game so you'd probably be better off renting it first. Just remember to focus on those head shots!

Honest reviews on Red Dead Revolver - Xbox

Not since Wild Gunman on the old NES platform have I so throughly enjoyed a western game. First off, there aren't too many western games on the market to begin with but Red Dead Revolver gets it right. Rockstar Games has produced another winner. The game has sick graphics and smooth gameplay. The shootouts and levels are challenging but not frustrating. An average gamer can navigate the levels fairly easily. The weapon selection is large and varied, as are the levels. Red Dead Revolver could never be accused of being repetitive. You can change characters, ride horses and other animals, have a shootout on top of a moving train or just a simple bar fight. The targeting system is accurate and the duels are ultra cool. Rockstar even licensed some of the music from the classic Clint Eastwood westerns to give the game a complete touch. Also, the ability to take cover against rocks or walls makes the gameplay even more true to life. Overall, this is one of the best games I've played on the XBOX system and without a doubt the best western game ever made. Highly Recommended.

Don't let the magazine and internet reviews by groups such as ign fool you, this game is really fun. Yes, the controls are not that great, the graphics are blocky, and unfortunately the game is short and does not offer xbox live support...but, the game is a blast to play, the theme is unique, the artistic quality is superb and the acting is attractive and well developed. Plus, it has a great story. I recommend buying or renting this game.

Ok so first things first, the overall review. It is a good game but is not worth the $60 dollars i paid. I would pay $20-$30 dollars for it. It is surely not compareable with cod4 or 5.

PROS

>Online is great. It is fun for sniping or just shotguns.

> There are so many vehichle you can use which is very fun. There are 1,2,3, and 4 person vehicles. There is Atv's, Buggies, hummers, Armadilos, different sorts of tanks and different sorts of helicopters and boats.

> Lots of different sorts of maps.

> Choice to be two different speciseach with it own perks and disadvantages. There is the Strogg and the humans. For the strogg there is also lots of different futuristic guns and vehicles.

> You can choose to be different classes like medics, mechanics, snipers, field soldiers and others.

> You can build stuff like anti personel turrets or build bridges across ditches for tanks to get by.

Cons

> AI turn straight away and start shooting you even if you are 700 feet away.

> You can't customize guns.

> Can't switch controls around so there is always set controls

> Not the great of graphics

> Not as great as other gams like cod4 and 5

If you like online First person shooters you should get this. There are many different sort of gameplay.

This is a great shooter, and is vy easy to pick up and play. While the campaign is lacking, it makes its greatest showing in large online battles, with a vast amount of vehicles and maps its a very good game to own and enjoy with friends.

Best Deals for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - Xbox 360

I bought a used copy of "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" for less than the cost of shipping and handling. I can't pretend that this didn't go far in excusing the weaknesses of the title, but let's pretend I was hyped out of my mind for its release and pre-ordered it because I just couldn't wait to pay full price for a low-bar FPS.

Disclaimer: I have not played any of the other Quake titles. However, I got the sense that this really didn't matter at all. Anyway, if you're into games that don't waste time with pesky things like "plot" and "character development," you'll be into this. The game begins with a very brief summary of The Strogg, a space-faring people hooked on a glowing, orange resource called Stroyent. They want it, Earth inexplicably has a ton of it, and only the most generic organization we can muster is capable of defending our all-important supply of the resource we didn't even know we had.

The EDF (Earth Defense Force) are the sort of international peacekeepers always allied against a larger threat like giant invisible chainsaw laser beasts from beyond Glaxar IX. They're used to wave after wave of bio-mechanical invaders, right? Sure, I guess.

The gameplay is class-based, which, for the uninitiated, means that getting killed is less of a bummer and more of a chance to switch up your tactics when you redeploy. Both sides have their versions of five character classes: Field Ops, Engineer, Soldier, Covert Ops, and Medic.

All five classes possess different weapons and abilities, making them useful in their own ways but without the ability to win an entire mission by themselves. This is the point of a class-based game; you attempt to be as effective as possible using the class you've chosen, earning more XP (experience points) whenever you participate as only your chosen class can. Example: If you're a Medic, you earn more XP for reviving/healing your buddies. The challenge of class-based games is always to find that twitchy balance between offense and defense, neutralizing newly-spawned enemies while not forgetting to focus on objectives like planting a key explosive or building a small bridge that will help your forces flank theirs.

The collection of vehicles in "Quake Wars" range from the foolhardy ATV and Strogg jump-craft to menacing air support on both sides. Coordinating them with your infantry and "lone wolf" types can be fun with friends online, but the A.I. bots in single player mode won't provide the level of support that you'd like. If anything, they tend to show up to complete your objective only after you've fought your way into the enemy compound alone, expended all of your ammunition, and died foolishly at the hands of the only remaining enemy that was too far away to slash at awkwardly with your melee weapon.

Then again, maybe the A.I. is exactly like playing with friends online.

The point is that this game works if you aren't expecting lovingly-rendered cutscenes (there are none) and unique characters on either side (there are none). Its strengths hover around the fact that it's about as straightforward as class-based first-person shooters come. I'd compare it to "Brink," and it is quite similar in some ways, but "Brink" is the better game of the two. If you just like shooting bad guys and you never really need a great excuse, then go for it. Especially if you can buy it for less than the cost of shipping and handling.

Honest reviews on Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - Xbox 360

I like most people was starting to get bored of COD4, I went to gamestop on a whim and picked this up. This game really shocked me in terms of fun. Its a Combination of Star wars battlefront, and Frontlines fuel of war. It has the frontlines aspect of frontlines, and the action, of battlefront, it contains many, many vehicles. The graphics are decent, nothing out of the ordinary, however if you cant wait for BF Bad company, then pick this up, it'll give you hours of fun

Very fun game with many possibilitys, each race human or strogg has there own classes which can do many different things ie hacking into your body and walking around as the other team mate to assasinate, or building turrents so you can sit back and repair vehicles and defend your base with that. theres also many vehicles that are avalible that are fun to use, jetpacks and mech robots are very fun. i'd say 5/5 gives you a good break from halo or somthing its not so competitive because even if your not a good shooter you can be a medic and heal your team or a constructor and build or repair things very fun imo!

I was looking for a way to play region coded imported games without hacking into my Xbox 360 S. This was the solution I was looking for. Hacking a 360 S runs the risk of voiding the warranty and getting banned from Xbox Live. The Japanese Xbox also plays Xbox original games after downloading backwards compatibility from Xbox live. It has audio and subtitle English translations so language isn't a problem unless the game played is strictly a Japanese language game. It has a little more machine noise than the 360 S but not noticeable once a game starts. I was skeptical about buying a second Xbox but it was well worth since I'm into playing hardcore, gory, adults only import games.

This game is better then they say it is. It starts off slow and you might not like it, then next thing you know I was hooked. I found myself saying this might just be better then Dead Space 3. If you want coop then go with Dead Space 3. It has multiplayer, which is a nice break from the campaign if your playing on hard. 20-30 hours of story mode gameplay and I skipped stuff. Story is the first game to make me almost cry. I think they did a nice job with this game and I hope the next game is even better. Dead Space needs to step it up because they just might have got beat.

While I enjoyed Lost Planet 2, Lost Planet 3 is by far my favorite of the series. The gameplay is solid and the story is very well written. The graphics are amazing and made me feel like I was playing on the next gen Xbox! The game offers a lot to keep you interested in both the single player and multiplayer portions. Overall, this is a great 3rd person action/shooter that has provided me with hours of entertainment. Definitely recommend!

Best Deals for Lost Planet 3 - Xbox 360

When I first got an XBox 360 there were two games that I picked up right off the bat. The first was a game called Dead Rising by Capcom and the other was published by Capcom as well. That game was called Lost Planet and it was one of those games that was not only fun to play but had a great story as well. The sequel left lots to be desired as it felt less like a Lost Planet game and felt more like a grindfest. Now the folks over at Capcom are coming back with Lost Planet 3 but is this going to be a better game or should you not go to this planet?

This game is actually a prequel to the first game as the planet of E.D.N III is a frozen wasteland. You play the role of Jim Peyton as you have made your way to this planet to help mine minerals for the NEVEC corporation. This prequel has a few variances from the first game as there are no VS mechs (which were the military equipped mechs) but instead there are Rigs. These mechs are equipped with devices such as drill arms which help them dig out the precious minerals.

The best thing about this prequel is that it is nothing like the second game. Gone are the countless hours of grinding and there is an actual story with sidequests. These side quests can be important to your character as they can be used to not only upgrade your equipment but also build your own rig. Also the thermal energy that was used in the first game is no longer used as a life support gimmick (as in you don't have to constantly kill enemies to keep alive). Instead it is used as currency that can be used to purchase items. The akrid will be making a comeback as you will fight waves of these bugs to stay alive on the planets frozen surface.

And that's what I love about this game as it is focusing on a glorious single player experience. There is a multiplayer aspect to the game as well but it is not forsaken for a great single player campaign. If you are a fan of this series I strongly urge you to run out and get this game as it will not disappoint like the last one.

Honest reviews on Lost Planet 3 - Xbox 360

I bought Lost Planet: Extreme Condition when it originally launched, as it was a showpiece for Xbox 360 at the time, but it wasn't that great of a game. For whatever reason, though, Extreme Condition garnered a cult following given that there was little competition at the time. While it was a pretty game with fantastic snow effects, its gameplay was rather mediocre and its anime cast of characters with goofy voice acting didn't particularly keep me engaged. Given Keiji Inafune's involvement with Extreme Condition, I was willing to give it a fair shake, but I ultimately found it to be a pretty mediocre experience throughout.

Fast forward around 3 years later and we were greeted to Lost Planet 2, a co-op spin on Lost Planet's formula. While its main component was its co-op, you could play it entirely solo. However, the game felt broken, frustrating, and many of the boss battles would go on forever in solo mode, making it a repetitive chore to play alone. And guess what? Playing with friends only made your friends have to deal with the repetitive slog that was Lost Planet 2. So despite its shortcomings, was the story at least good? That'd be a no. As I said, this is mainly a co-op game and as such the story was completely throwaway. You want characters with personalities? Nope, not gonna get that with Lost Planet 2. Lost Planet 2 was rock bottom for the franchise.

Fast forward another 3 years and now we have Lost Planet 3, returning the franchise back to its roots with characters, a story, etc. While the first two games were developed internally at Capcom, Lost Planet 3 was outsourced to Spark Unlimited, which should raise a red flag if you're aware of their past work, notably Turning Point: Fall of Liberty and Legendary, two incredibly low budget first-person shooters with grand ideas and a whole lot of potential but both failing to realize any of it. So while I wasn't exactly too optimistic about Lost Planet 3's chances of being a good game, I figured it couldn't get any worse than Lost Planet 2, and you know what? I was right. So let's see how Lost Planet 3 turned out, shall we?

First and foremost, Lost Planet 3 is essentially Aliens meets Dead Space. If you were one of the few people who actually liked previous Lost Planet's and don't like Aliens and Dead Space, you know, Lost Planet 3 may not be for you. Now that I've said that, let me say that Lost Planet 3 is hands down the best game in the franchise. Forgoing its more linear roots, Lost Planet 3 opens up with hub environments much like an RPG, allowing you to explore, take on main quests, side quests, collect text and audio logs, talk to people, etc. It's certainly a radical departure from the series' roots, but it's also more in line with the style of games I typically prefer to play. It's more open and more ambitious while retaining some linearity and scripting during missions. Honestly, I didn't think the developer, Spark Unlimited, was capable of making a game like this, however it's nice to be surprised and proven wrong.

Gameplay: It's essentially a third-person shooter mixed with mech sections. While it plays a whole lot better than past Lost Planet's, it's not the most fluid playing game, however it's not bad at all and certainly mechanically sound overall. A lot of it was obviously inspired by Dead Space.

Graphics: I was honestly shocked at how nice this game looked. Facial animations are generally expressive, lighting looks really nice, art direction is superb, textures range from serviceable to excellent in detail, and the whole game just has great atmosphere.

Sound: Voice acting is top notch and the radio in your mech is pretty goofy but fun to listen to. There's also some great ambient music sprinkled throughout.

Story & Characters: Both are way better than I expected. Likable characters and a narrative that you want to see through to the conclusion.

So while Lost Planet 3 isn't a perfect game that's going to be named one of the best games ever, it's still a game that's way better than it had any right to be. I really enjoyed this one.

Its not the most interesting game, but I like the storyline. Its just not as good as the past lost planets.

It could have been better. The graphics and playability are pretty good its just that its not very open ended in what paths or events you can choose and I finished the game very quickly.

As a first-person shooter enthusiast, I had high hopes for Dark Forces when I hear about it for the first time.

And as it may be a sin to compare it to Doom, because honestly and truthfully, this game is hardly what Doom is, I must say one thing....take Doom, send it through a meat grinder, out pops Dark Forces.

Everything in this game is ho-hum....half or less than half of what Doom gives the Playstation gamer.

It's not THAT disappointing....it's still very fun to play....but the whole game seems rushed. People forgot to add more than 3 colors to walls and background images, and the pixelization is unsurpassed. Stormtroopers and items laying about look like primitive Lego models. The soundtrack isn't all that bad, but could be better....the voices are really done well though.

The levels in the game are ok....I found myself getting lost on some of them though due to the fact everything looks the same because of the limited color palette....and even some areas I'm guessing are supposed to be covered in "shadows" are in all actuality, just black spaces with no graphics at all.

The weapons are typical Star Wars guns....nothing entirely special, but it is a fun selection.

If you're a Star Wars fan, and can get this game for 5 bucks or less, by all means, add it to your collection.

But if you're a first-person shooter junkie, look elsewhere for a top-quality shooter.

Overall, an average game, 5 out of 10, possibly 5.5.

Honest reviews on Star Wars Dark Forces

First of all, this game is old. Its graphics [are not good], so does its sound. With that out of the way, it is pretty cool. It has fun weapons an codes especially. After about four levels, you will tire of the game becuse its a labyrinth, often to find where youre going. Luckily, many awesome levels, patches, and other things are availiable online, ehich makes the computer game fun. If youre going to get it: Get the comp one, becuase other wise its a waste of money

Ok. This game came out in the mid 90's, but even for then, it's an average game. Nothing stands out to make it a "must have" for the Star Wars fan and gamer.

Graphically, it's a step down from the old Doom days. Characters are made of HUGE sprites--The closer you get, the more blocky they are. Backgrounds/levels are huge, but poorly done. Most levels are just plain boring and the colors are extremely dull looking.

The sound, out of everything, is fairly good. Effects and voices are above that average level. The music, though, is a disappointment. This is a 32-bit game with an 8-bit soundtrack. One thing in every Star Wars movie that's done well with pride is the music score. All Star Wars games should be no different than the movies with the same score. This game is one of those games where the music is just plain bad.

Fun value is on the average level, as well. Where most everything is dull, the enjoyment of blasting Stormtroopers, Probe Droids, etc. is fun for every Star Wars fan.

If you enjoy first person shooters and the Star Wars movie series, then give it a try. It's cheap money-wise, however, it's just that, as well (gameplay-wise)--cheap.

It seems too many people can't do a little research on the games they buy or even bother to look at the back of the packaging either. Fortune Street is the newest game on the Nintendo Wii featuring characters from the Super Mario games and Dragon Quest series coming together to play a board game very much in style to Monopoly. If you can't stand Monopoly or slower, strategic board games, this is not going to be the game for you especially if you only want quick play sessions.

Yes, there is an easier mode where they take away the stock market trading but again, this is a board game in play. It will take you a while to finish a game. Don't really expect fast play sessions here. If you enjoy Monopoly and understand this is not trying to be Mario Party, you will enjoy and have a lot of fun with this game!

As for an age group, I would say this game is more for the older crowds, if your child has a short attention span or doesn't like waiting, family game nights are going to be hard to all stay together in one room without the little ones wanting to leave very quickly. For an actual age, I would say maybe seven or eight and up here? It is hard to say, remember, think Monopoly in play style, if your child can't keep occupied playing the board game version, they are not going to stay interested in this video game version even though Mario and friends are up on the screen. Just a small "warning" for the parents out there of younger children who may look at Mario on the cover and think "perfect!"

This is a really great game if you enjoy the Monopoly style of play (Yes, I have said this many times, so please no Mario Party thoughts!) and wanting to experience a fun take on that same style of gameplay, give Fortune Street a chance, you will have a lot of fun but you have to be patient with this title as it plays a little slower compared to other Mario spin-off titles.

First and foremost, this game is nothing like Mario Party. If you are expecting this game to be anything like Mario Party, you may be disappointed. It, however, is a very fun, unique, and engaging game that combines elements from Monopoly and stock market simulation games--featuring Mario and Dragon Quest characters. It is truly a treat to be able to play this, because, for the last twenty years, previous iterations of this game have been highly revered in Japan only. It is truly a treat that Nintendo has decided to localize this game, so that we, too, can enjoy this unique game.

The gameplay is very easy to get into and understand. In fact, it offers a tutorial mode, which takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete, to help ease you into the gameplay. You first start off rolling to determine which player goes first. Each turn the player rolls the dice and moves across the game-board the specified amount of spaces. It is just like monopoly where you are able to purchase property as you land on them. In the same way, if you land on a player's property, you must shop there and spend a specified amount of money. If you really want to, you have the choice to force a buyout of the player's property; however, it would cost 10x the value of the property. Each turn allows players to sell stocks, property, and etc if needed. Also, if the player passes the bank (original starting location) again with all suits collected, he/she gets a raise, containing a large sum of money. Players are able to buy stocks at this point as well. To increase stock value, the player can invest in his/her own property by expanding it, which in turn also raises the shop's cost if anyone lands on the property. Stocks generally decrease as more people sell stock for a particular district. The goal of the game is to earn as much money/assets as possible, achieving the targeted net worth. The player who reaches the targeted net worth will win the game upon passing the bank (where you start in the beginning). Among these neat elements that combine stock market simulations and monopoly, there are some fun mini-games, such as slime racing and arcade spaces. There are also venture cards which you draw upon landing on the venture spaces, which could work in your favor or your opponent's favor.

Not interested in playing the stock market? There is the option to turn this feature off, known as "Easy Rules." Whenever you are interested in spicing things up a bit, you can always switch back to "Standard Rules," which includes the stock market feature. Also, the game supports up to four players on one Wii, as well as online play. The game features many different modes, menus, and options, such as: Tour mode, Free play mode, Nintendo Wi-Fi mode, changing room menu, shops menu, display case menu, as well as a configuration menu.

Tour Mode: Tour mode features a campaign containing a series of levels to complete. Each campaign has a unique theme. For example, the first campaign features a Dragon Quest theme, containing levels related to Dragon Quest games. The second one features a Mario theme, and so on.

Free Play Mode: As for Free Play mode, this allows players to customize a game as they see fit, such as offering the player to choose which board/map, which play-style, and which (if any) NPC characters he/she wishes to play with. This mode is good for anyone who just wants to start a quick game with friends, customizing some aspects of the game.

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Mode: If you are unable to get a few friends over to play this game, luckily there is the option to play online. The experience was a very pleasant experience, as I have not experienced any lag or slow-down of any kind. What's nice about the Wi-Fi mode is, not only does it offer the ability to connect and play with added friends, it offers the ability to play with random people WITHOUT friends codes. The player is given the choice of either playing with national players or playing with international players.

Changing Room Menu: This menu allows the player to customize and change the clothes on his/her Mii, as well as the actions (emoticons) that it is capable of performing. Emoticons are especially useful when playing with others online as there is no keyboard or voice support, so it is a nice little way to communicate.

Shops Menu: The player can exchange stamps, which are earned from playing the game, to obtain new clothes and/or emoticon actions for his/her Mii.

Display Case: Now I really like this feature, as I am a huge fan of achievements/trophies. Trophies in this game are obtained by meeting certain conditions. Some are very easy, while others can be very difficult. Not only can you look at trophies here, but you are also able to look at game statistics, as well as read information about game characters.

I'd also like to mention that it is recommended to play through the various game modes, especially tour mode, because there are many unlockable Dragon Quest & Mario characters and levels that can be obtained.

In conclusion, Fortune Street is an incredibly fun Monopoly/Stock Simulation hybrid that has a touch of Mario and Dragon Quest themes to add charm to these elements. While there's plenty to do--unlocking characters, unlocking trophies, unlocking levels, and etcetera--players will get the most out of the game playing with friends and family, as it is a highly fun and engaging game. If you love Monopoly, but also love Mario and Dragon Quest characters, by all means, get this game!

Best Deals for Fortune Street

As everyone has said, Fortune Street is not like Mario Party. It is closer to Monopoly, with the added ability to purchase stock in various districts. If you think someone is about to do some major upgrades to their property, make sure you buy some shares beforehand, so you can make money from their work and expenditures. There are bonuses and minigames that add to the fun. I usually get dominated by the computer, but maybe I just need more experience. Online multiplayer is solid, and it is fun to know that you are playing with people from all over the world. (sometimes their name is in Japanese) You can also play with your friends, by trading your friend code. There is a tutorial level that takes about 20-25 minutes to beat, and it teaches you everything. I had no difficulty jumping into the game after playing the tutorial. The levels are a mix of Dragon Quest and Mario environments, divided accordingly. I would recommend the game for anyone eight years old and up, because it does involve a bit of thinking. There is an easier mode for beginners, but I skipped it. I think it removes the districts, so there is no stock option. If you are looking for a new addition to your family game night, this is one worth picking up.

Parents shouldn't worry about their children getting online to play this one, because the only interaction the players have is through a set of emoticons. (smiley faces) Send them a thumbs up when they make a mistake that works in your favor.

Bottom line: This game offers limitless replay value, because every game session is different. Buy it.

Honest reviews on Fortune Street

I won't repeat what everyone else said, but instead clarify a few things. This is a fantastic adult game for board game fanatics with graphics designed for children. This game could have been designed without Mario and crew, and used an adult theme, and been sold as a serious board game. It wouldn't have sold as many copies, but it would be more honest not getting the cheap accidental purchases from kids or parents with young kids. Young kids will likely hate this game.

That said, I read about it first and knew what was getting, and as an adult board gamer, this game is FANTASTIC. I have played about 20 games with friends and against computer players. I've won 55% of them, according to the stats. There is very deep strategy. Some games I win easily, some I am scrambling to figure out what stocks to buy to catch up. Your strategy each game will be different depending on what properties you get early in the game, and what happens when the luck portion of the game kicks in. I love it. I have been way ahead and lost, and vice versa. The computer does not cheat. I have never felt like it got a roll it needed more than the 1-7 chance it is (yes 7, many boards have a 7 sided die).

Turn off the chatter for the computer players, and the game takes about 2 3 hours, though I won one in 1 hour by bankrupting a player lots of fun. The computer players have a letter grade, and use different strategies dependidng on how high, or smart, their letter is. But even letter D computer players have a chance of winning if it gets lucky in the early game.

There is a strategy for every situation. I just won a game where I only had 3 properties, and the computer players had 8 10 each. How is that? I smartly invested in the right properties, and tiptoed around the board avoiding paying big sales.

To me, this game is the perfect combination of startegy and luck. If this sound fun, GET THIS GAME!

I've been waiting to play an iteration of 'Itadaki Street' (as this series is known in Japan) for several years. A version came out for the Playstation 2 and PSP which starred Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest characters. Then, a version was released for the Nintendo DS. Unfortunately, none of them were localized for the North American audience. Not until now! 'Itadaki Street' has finally made its North American appearance as Fortune Street, a unique game that combines aspects of Monopoly, the stock market, and the Mario and Dragon Quest universes.

Graphics 4.0

The graphics in this game are on par with most recent Wii releases. They look pretty rough when compared to the HD capabilities of the PS3 and 360 but the Wii is no graphical powerhouse. Ultimately, they remind me of the other Mario-themed games that have been released on Wii (Mario Party 8, Mario Kart, etc). They do the job but they aren't going to make anyone's jaw drop. The Dragon Quest characters look good enough and if you've played those games, you'll probably get a kick out of seeing them done up in 3D.

Sound 4.5

The music and sound effects are all pulled directly from Mario and Dragon Quest games. Depending on whether you're using a Mario or DQ character, you'll hear different sounds (ie. When a DQ character levels up in the game, the fanfare from the series plays). For anyone who is a fan of either series, the sound will definitely bring back some good memories. In fact, there were several Mario songs that I hadn't heard since the NES days. Also, the background music corresponds to whatever level you're playing on. These may seem like small things but they add a great deal to the overall feel of the game.

Gameplay 4.5

Many of the negative reviews that I've seen have brought up the idea that this game is confusing. It's not. Sure, it takes a little bit of time to let all of the rules sink in but it's only slightly more complicated than Monopoly. In addition to this, there is both an easy (this mode leaves off building districts and buying/selling stock) and standard mode. Everyone starts off on a 'Bank' space. You roll the dice by hitting '2' or shaking the Wiimote. Then, you can pick which direction you want to move and make your way down a path. If you land on a property space, you can buy the property (just like Monopoly). Now, every time someone lands on your property, you get some money. You can increase the value of each property by investing money in it or by buying other properties in the same district (districts are very similar to the different colored spaces on a Monopoly board). The goal of the game is to be the first to collect a predetermined amount of money and return to the bank. As you go around the board, there are chance spaces and short single-player minigames that you can take part in. You can also buy and sell stock in the various districts. Once you own stock, you'll receive an extra dividend every time someone lands on a property there, even if you don't own it. All of this is done through menus that are fairly simple. Over all, the game is easy to control and if you invest some time in learning how it all works, you won't be disappointed. There are two slight problems with this game. It starts out kind of slow but if you can get through the first 10 or so minutes, it gets much better. Finally, if you play the single player mode, you might get annoyed with the constant talking between the CPU players.

Multiplayer 5.0

This game's multiplayer mode is a ton of fun. It is a real blast to play if you can get three friends together and you can even play over Wi-Fi. Nintendo did this one right.

Replay 5.0

This game has a ton of replay value. There are a number of unlockable levels, characters, and clothing/accessories for your Mii. If you unlock everything, it will take hours and hours and hours.

Overall, this game is a fantastic investment! I'd highly recommend spending more than 10-15 minutes with it though. Take the time to learn the standard rules and you won't be sorry.

My controller looks awesome now. Only thing to remember is that you will need a special screwdriver to take on/off the screws and that the final screw is below where the battery pack goes, UNDERNEATH the serial code sticker on your controller.

Once you take all of them off be careful and its pretty straight forward. When in doubt look up the youtube videos for help.

its pretty easy to switch out the shell of a controller, i thought id give this a shot instead of buying a new controller to save money. It was a good decision, i like the lime green color and the feel of the shell, it feels like an original xbox 360 controller. the only problem i had with this controller shell was the sync button. There was no way for it to stay on, no matter how i put it. Eventually i had to glue it on the corner which worked fine. Besides that one flaw the controller shell was a great buy and ive already recommended it to friends. If you are reading this review just make sure you have a T-8 hollow tip screw driver, to take apart the old controller. Dont lose any screws in the process!

over all a great buy.

I bought this shell kit because I had controller with a broken shell. After I purchased it I thought it would be cool to use the green trim pieces on my black controller and the black trim on the green controller. They both look amazing!!

I only had 2 issues...

The first issue was the "connect button", I had to superglue the button to the housing. also I had to trim the button with a hobby knife because it was hitting the circuit board.

The Second issue was the screw holes. I had to press really hard to screw the two halves of the shell together. But honestly I know its screwed together tight.

Overall I am very happy with this product!

First I will say that I am a big fan of arcade style racing games in which you can cause mayhem and destruction. In my opinion Burnout Revenge is the best game in that genre for the X-Box 360 but Split/Second is a split second behind.

Split/Second is set in a reality show where you must earn credits in races, elimination races or time trials, in order gain access to new cars, open up new events and advance to future episodes. Each episode is broken up into events and these tracks are rigged with booby traps that you can set off on your opponents, yourself if you aren't careful, or others can spring them on you. These traps are called power plays and you earn the ability to trigger them by filling up your power meter by drifting, drafting, jumping or nearly avoiding a trap sprung on you. When you do trigger them they make beautiful explosions, hurl obstacles onto the track or even bring buildings down. Also you can activate a route changer which changes the track and opens up a new path. If you time these triggers right you can take out multiple opponents or even yourself if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Spring them at the wrong time and they will miss taking anyone out and the power is wasted. If you finish the race with a top ranking you earn credits which go towards new cars or unlocking events, which are all automatic so you don't have to worry about managing them. You can always go back and retry an event again if you fail or want to better your ranking and try for first place, in order to max out your credits.

Overall this game is a blast, literally. It's really easy to just pick up and play and has a nice tutorial race to teach you about how the power plays and route changes work. The graphics are great. The explosive effects are spectacular, especially when you bring down whole buildings or when an airplane crashes on the runway coming right at you! Your power meter and position in the race show right under your bumper in 3rd person mode or at the bottom of the screen in 1st person mode so the screen isn't cluttered with information that is distracting. The sound is excellent really adding to feel of speed and mayhem. The motion feels fluid and the cars handle nicely, it just feels right to me. You get a good feeling of speed but not so much so that you can't control your car, at least most of the time. Also there is X-Box Live and split screen multiplayer modes and this is where the game will really shine. I must say it's good to see split screen mode because it seems lately I'm starting to see more games without it.

There are a few minor negatives about the game in my opinion. The music is OK, has an action based reality show sound to it but I would've liked to hear some real songs, music with a fast beat to it like Burnout Revenge's soundtrack. Also sometimes I feel the drifting is a bit over the top. You will go around a corner and start drifting and spin out without even really initiating the drift yourself. It's a nice effect in that it's a challenge but sometimes it just feels like you aren't in control of your car on turns that aren't even that sharp. Also the single player portion may be rather quick to complete because so far it doesn't seem too difficult.

Overall though the game really is good quality. If I could I would give it 4 1/2 stars with 1/2 a star off for what I feel are only minor drawbacks, but I round that up to 5 here. I was hooked the first time I played it and really what more can one ask for in a game than that? It is just plain explosive fun.

PROS:

+ Excellent graphics

+ Incredible special effects with things blowing up all around you

+ Great sound

+ Easy to control with a nice fluid feel

+ Good multiplayer and with split screen too

+ Just plain fun

CONS:

Ho-hum soundtrack

Sometimes feel like the drifting is a bit overdone

Limited difficulty on single player

UPDATE (5-31-10):

After having played this some more I would like to make some points which I feel are important. One being a point many on the X-Box forums have made concerning the rubber banding AI, as in you can never really get a big lead on the AI racers because they are always right behind you, and frequently zoom past you even if you are going full speed. This is a valid point and I understand why it is frustrating. You can be in first place about to win and the AI in second place zooms by you. Or you might drift too much, lose some speed and two or three AI racers zoom by you. It does seem kind of cheap but quite frankly I feel that if the developers didn't do this the game would be no challenge at all. You would get into the lead and widen the gap so much between you and the AI that you would never have a chance of losing. In a way it adds a bit of strategy in that you should consider conserving your power plays near the end of the race instead of just blowing them as soon as they pop up. On more than one occasion I was able to win a race despite AI racers rubber banding past me near the finish line by taking them out right after they did, but be warned you will get frustrated sometimes when that doesn't work.

One other problem I have also noticed is how AI racers tend to push you out of the way, nudge you from behind to spin you out, and other means of aggressive behavior. This in itself is not a bad thing except for the fact you really can't do the same back to them. You can barely budge an AI racer at all. You can maybe direct them into a wall if you time it right but it's probably not worth the effort because you might as well concentrate on racing and not crashing yourself.

These AI issues, combined with the Detonator (time trial) races having very hard requirements to finish in first place, make for a more difficult and challenging game than I originally indicated in my review. You should have no problem completing the single player part of the game but completing it with a first place in every event (for a 130 point achievement) will be pretty challenging.

Concerning online play it is fun if you are in races with somewhat evenly matched cars. Unfortunately there is the ability to unlock all cars and tracks available via Microsoft points on X-Box Live. I say this is unfortunate because I feel people should have to earn their cars to compete online, not just buy them. It kind of cheapens online competition at least until the game is out long enough that most people have the cars one way or the other. As a tip I recommend playing through the season mode of the game before playing online because that is how you unlock the cars, plus you will learn the skills necessary to drive better.

The other points in my review stand. I have revised my score down to 4 stars for the AI issues which do become a problem later in the game. I still think that this is a really fun game despite the AI issues but it would be nice to see some fixes to these with smarter, rather than cheap AI. I would recommend trying Split/Second for fans of arcade racers involving destruction. Try renting or getting the demo to see if it's for you. If so go buy it and blow some stuff up now that it has gone down in price.

First off, I am by no means a racing game enthusiast, actually it's the complete opposite. Honestly the only racing game I've played and truly enjoyed as of late has been Mario Kart Wii, which is a blast by the way. I've purchased Split/Second after hearing the premise of the game, I thought it sounded really interesting and very unique. Looking back I'm very happy I took a chance on this title, I wasn't let down at all and have been really enjoying it.

Once you play this game and understand what it's trying to do you will come to the conclusion as I have that the "cons" are what makes this game different than most other racing game out there. "Rubber banding" is necessary to play the game as it was intended to be played. Consider this, if you were able to break out in first place and never have to look back it takes away from some of the main points of this game which is to cause destruction and to trigger traps on your opponets. Besides, if you can't pass the car in front of you do the next best thing, which is to drop a plane on him! Also, a lot of people complain about "drifting", which I must agree there is a lot of, however there are many other ways to fill up your power meter like "drafting" which in my opinion is the easier way to play. My final point is in regard to the lack of customization as far as the cars are concerned, again this is not what this game is about so if that is what you're looking for invest in a different title. This game is not about the cars (as strange as that is to say) it's about the havoc you can cause and to what extent you can cause it.

I hope my review has been helpful to you and thanks for reading, sorry for being long winded LOL. If you like to play games for fun, and not take things too seriously look me up, my Xbox gamer tag is MikeJMele.

Ok I have to say something about this game I think everyone has already mentioned and that is PLEASE STOP COMPARING THIS GAME TO NFS, RIDGE RACER, OR ANY WORTHWHILE RACING TITLE! Now that is out of the way I have to explain title for this game.

Controls are almost broken cause you have to hold down a button to go forward and the braking is not even worth mentioning in the game cause it feels like you have none.

Physics that are in the game are badly done. And what I'm talking about is the drifting in the game. This should not be the only feature cars are based on. Whether you are driving a hummer or mustang (real names but crappy versions in the game unlicensed version really) this should not be your only real choice in a car.

When I play a arcade racer its suppose to be fun not furstrating. ARCADE means not feeling cheated, ragequitting or just flatout not wanting to play anymore. That is what the controls in the game make you feel like.

Cars in the game are something that are not balanced correctly. What I mean is I shouldn't have something that looks like a 500hp muscle car being beaten by their version of a hummer. This is not even remotely possible without the use of nitro, turbo charging, or something that gives the car more of a racing edge but the problem with that is THERE IS NONE IN THE GAME!!!!! Some reviewers mention this as 'rubberbanding' and I thought that there is no game that does that until I played this. Then I thought my driving skills were enough until the forementioned happened and I just quit playing.

Don't get me wrong this applied to the RACING sections of this game. And what really set this game apart from the rest that I saw and they should have done more with were the airstrike race (heli shooting rockets at you. ROCKETS!!!) and the other mode was having a semi throw exploding oil drums at you. Now these races was what made this game interesting to play but alas the controls made it unforgiving at times when you missed a drift or overdrited a corner you truly paid for it. And to me that takes away from the game cause there really is no reward for beating the game/show sucessfully other being able to play the next show/section. No choice of car to pick from if you win the top tier race, no extra boost, speed, upgrade, etc. Just moving along and unlocking more cars that seem slower then the top tier racers.

I have to say when I started up this game and was presented with a intro that showed the whole idea behind the game as being a explosive racing game show immediately I was hooked thinking that this was going to be a wild ride to last for a while even when the novelty wore off I would still pick it up to kill some time or beat my best score. But the cons that I mentioned just turned me off so much that I can't bring myself to want to keep it. I mean hell I didn't even finish the third show cause of cons. Really what game takes the balance then turns it around to the point its almost to broken to even want to finish it.

Sounds like I'm complaining? YES. This took one of my favorite guilty pleasures(big explosions) and robbed me of a good time. So if you have a friend that has this game(don't see many people holding on to this) then borrow it from them. Don't even waste your time renting it from gamefly cause you will feel obligated to at lest finish it and no game should make you feel like you are working when you should be having fun.

Honest reviews on Split / Second - Xbox 360

No one was looking forward to Split/Second more than I. No one. After the disappointment that was Burnout Paradise (that game was a lot of things, it certainly wasn't an arcade racer), Blackrock was finally going to step in and fill the void. The studio demonstrated a great deal of promise with Pure, but unfortunately, Split/Second demonstrates a distinct lack of polish and careless development that will result in me selling it on Glyde as soon as I finish the career mode.

I'll try to keep this short and sweet, so let's get the good out of the way:

+ It's GORGEOUS. If there's one thing Blackrock gets, it's graphics (see: Pure). This game puts it's contemporaries to shame (see: Blur). Seriously, crisp graphics, bright colors, amazing explosions. This is a showpiece title for your entertainment system.

+ Explosions galore. Split/Second may be a one-trick pony (things go boom), but what a trick it is! I defy you not to be astounded by nearly every track-changer the first time you see them. I triggered a plane to land on my opponents. A PLANE!

+ Awesome sound. Again, Blackrock replicates the sensory delight they achieved on Pure with speaker-shattering explosions. Well-done.

+ Split-screen. The biggest issues with Pure is taken care of in Split/Second. (Sidenote: It's ridiculous that split-screen has become something we appreciate instead of expect).

That's the good, moving on to my problems with the game. A lot of these may seem like nit-picks, and honestly, you may not notice most of them until you really get into the game, but eventually they'll make the game frustrating and nearly-unplayable (hence the title of the review):

Rubber-banding to the extreme. Seriously, Split/Second is the most egregious offender I've ever seen in this area. It is impossible to get a leg up on the AI. There is nothing more frustrating than seeing the AI going twice as fast as you in the same exact car as you while you're at top speed (though, there's no speedometer to verify you're at max speed, another annoyance).

The cars handle like crap. The great thing about Burnout was, you started off with good cars and ended up with great cars. In Split/Second, you start off with really, really bad cars and have to work your way up to playable ones. Seriously, some of the initial cars are so back-heavy that you can't even turn or veer slightly in either direction without spinning out. You start getting cars that handle much better about halfway through the game. Interestingly, "handling" isn't a stat for the cars. As other reviewers have mentioned, the developers sacrificed any semblance of control for the sake of drifting.

Lazy programming. I can't tell you how many times I've re-spawned two feet from an obstacle and instantly exploded again. Also, there seems to be little rhyme or reason to when drifting into a wall will make you explode, it may be based on very minute angles...something that's uncontrollable given the crappy cars (see above). Finally, the particle effects are really strange. I'll collapse an entire mountainside with an explosion, and then drive right through massive boulders. Collision detection needs major work.

The tracks will get incredibly old. Once you learn where the explosions can be triggered, there's little more strategy to the game. The "detonator events" are the worst, where the game literally just triggers all the explosions while you drive through the track. It's simply an exercise in learning the script. The game relies entirely on shock factor, which only works once. Boring. Lazy.

Presentation seems literally unfinished. They started out with a decent enough idea (reality show) but seem to have given up on it completely halfway through the development. Voiceovers are few and far between, most track introductions don't even have voiceovers and there's a general lack of the reality-show aspect of the game that's supposed to underpin the entire title. It's almost bizarre (now there's a studio that gets presentation...).

Perfunctory multiplayer. There were so many cool things that could have been done with multiplayer (WHY CAN'T I SHOOT MISSILES AT MY FRIENDS FROM A HELICOPTER?), but it's the bare bones here. You get matchmaking, you get private games, and that's about it. Just like in Pure.

If you've only played the game a few hours or even a few days, you'll think my review is insane. But the more you play it, the more the issues become glaring. You'll note a few of the reviewers here have even gone back and made changes to their reviews.

Rent it, don't buy it. Sorry, Blackrock, but you broke my heart.

First of all the game is fun. The graphics are STUNNING!!for example if you drive through fire ash and stuff will go on the corners of you're screen.you can get power-ups from drafting your opponents or drifting around corners and if you get one bar filled you can crash your opponents when the icon appears above them. if you get three bars filled up then you can dominate your opponentsby hitting the A button and then something random will crush your opponents.you can crash your self because the car you're driving doesnt always maneuver as fastly as you want.here are some cheat codes to help you with your car choice:at options menu hit

X up X up X up

left X left X left X left X left X left X right

X down X down X down

(p.s. when it says down or left or right or up it means hit that direction on the d-pad.

Let me first off say that I'm a mindless drone when it comes to Fifa and I'll buy each new rendition on an annual basis. With that said, I also hate to wait for things so I went ahead and got the early access to Fifa 13 last Friday. I'll quickly tell you what's different between Fifa 12 and Fifa 13; whether you should throw your money at EA or simply wait until Black Friday or later.

Attacking Intelligence Translation = Players with higher ratings will relentless run towards the goal without you pushing LB/pass. They'll usually draw a defender who has marked them and you'll be able to make more plays.

Complete Dribbling Translation = You get to dribble in a 360 degree manner and exit in which ever direction you choose. Admittedly I'm not the most amazing player but to those who are talented at Fifa games you will surely be able to make use of this.

1st Touch Control Translation = Players lose control of the ball when receiving passes and holding down RT. To avoid losing the ball just let go of the RT and receive the pass before sprinting again. This was a very nice example of addition by subtraction. No matter the difficulty, AI will occasionally lose control of the ball and allow you to poach it away. I really enjoyed this "new" feature because it did make games more interesting and fun to play.

EA Sports Football Club Translation = Use the EA Points you collect by doing in-game tasks and skills games to "buy" virtual items. These virtual items range from boots (only about 12 available), "retro" kits (only about 8 available), balls (only about 8), and other in-game "bonuses". These in-game bonuses range from things like increased coins per FUT games, "financial takeovers" where your club in manager mode is bought and you get a large sum of money to spend, etc. The `selection was awfully disappointing and I'm hoping they add throughout the year.

New Teams = Basically all of the same leagues and clubs from last year with the exception that they added the Saudi league.

New Stadium = They added White Hart Lane and King Fahd Stadium but lost Nou Camp

International Manager = This is built into the manager mode where your performance at your club will attract offers from many National teams. You would then be manager of a club and an international team simultaneously. As the IT manager you get to select your 25 man team from the entire pool of international players and then play all the friendlies, qualifies, and tournament matches.

Manager Mode= They added in fake World Cup, Euros, and other tournaments. Also you can now play their fake Champions/Europa league in the first season rather than wait until the second.

Transfers = The transfers system is given a face lift. The transfer screen is now a note book where you are given new options when buying and selling players. When attempting to buy a player, you may "enquire" about them from their clubs as to whether they would sell the player and also how much you would have to offer them. You're also allowed to include players when trying to buy.

When selling/buying a player, you are told a range of how much the player is worth or how much you should offer depending on the player's form. I read that they tried to cut back on the ridiculous transfers, especially in the first transfer window of each season... THEY DIDN'T. There is still massive movement between big time players; for example, Higuain to Inter, Ozil to Chelsea, Prince-Boateng to Man City. Every transfer window afterwards continues the trend.

Match day = A nice addition. If you're not into playing season mode or ultimate team.. then whenever you play a match day game.. commentary and players ratings will be affected by their real life counterparts. I always hated hearing the same commentary for a year and I think that with this new addition it will lessen the game from getting stale.

Animations = They added a few new player celebrations which I didn't really care for but they did include more realistic player celebrations, albeit, only between two players where they will embrace like they did in real life.

Impact Engine = This was a great addition to Fifa 12 and in this year's rendition they improved the physics and removed the comical flopping.

Skills Games = They added 8 "mini games" with a variety of objectives ranging from chip shots, penalty shots, passing, dribbling, etc.

Layout/presentation = They changed the presentation this year but I could not have cared less. The presentation now includes a soccer ball in the background that opens and closes whenever you select things; also when you start games the opening presentations include the clubs badges on these soccer balls that open and close, etc. You have to see for yourself.

Conclusion: I think that EA was especially conservative this year. They opted to "perfect" (or at least try to) rather than innovate with another truly new feature. Gameplay is more fun with the "one-touch" because mistakes can become costly or rewarding and it adds another variable onto the pitch. The improved impact engine makes the player collision look very life-like and because they took out the crazy flopping makes it that much more realistic. Although with yet another yearly game, I find that EA has either given up or been too cheap to add new leagues to the game. They also need to add more stadiums. How can they go through each year and add one league or 1-2 new stadium? My biggest gripe is that I'm a shoe buff and to see only 4 pairs of Nikes and only 5 pairs of adidas (albeit in several more colors)? This is why I like 2K sports more than EA sports, they is no stone they leave unturned. With that all said, if you are playing Fifa 12 and completely satisfied with it, you probably should not fork over another 60 bucks to get Fifa 13. There are no game-changing new features that will make you throw your money at them. However, if the gameplay from Fifa 12 left you annoyed or unhappy, then Fifa 13 is worth getting because EA tried to fix the rough patches. Personally to me, this game is Fifa 12.5. But at least EA is making their Fifa franchise better every year and not letting them regress like NCAA and Madden. Cheers.

Pros:

-1st touch control +++

-Better manager mode ++

-More realistic Impact Engine ++

-Skills games +++

-Match day games +

Cons:

-Lack of new teams, especially South American leagues and the Turkish league

-Lack of boots

-EAS FC catalog was a huge disappointment in the selection available

-Still no licenses to major tournaments

-No innovative new features

UPDATE:

-The more I play the Skills challenges, the more I enjoy them. Each of them: the penalty shootout, passing, dribbling drills, etc help a certain part of your game that you would not really have had a chance to PRACTICE otherwise. What did Fifa have before? The practice arena where you're literally mashing buttons to try moves and ultimately just fool around? Not every one is a pro when it comes to this game and EA actually came up with a good idea to help newer and less experienced players become BETTER at the game they made. Kudos for that.

-I find it especially annoying during Manager mode when a robotic British voice reads off the scores of games that are not my own, but simply the ones in the same league. I don't really care to hear a creepy voice talk when I'm playing.. I haven't found a way to disable this.

-Resigning players has reverted back to before Fifa 12. By this I mean your players will NOT accept your offers no matter how much money you offer if you do NOT offer them the years they "want". So if you want to lock up your stars, you're not going to be able to. This minor detail annoys me because when you offer them extensions and they don't sign, then the fake news reel goes BALLISTIC and says, "oh, Xavi is refusing to resign with Barca"...... SMH like that crap would really happen.

-I take back the whole "EA removed the comical player collisions". They DIDNT. It does happen RARELY but I just saw Messi get KNEED and fly 10 yards in the other direction.

I am a first time FIFA player on XBOX, I got this game as a "in-betweener" when other games weren't out and I needed something to play around with. Then I started playing FIFA13 and found out it is super addicting and I would be shunnning other gamesto build my soccer career.

If you are a first time player, you'll want to spend a lot of time getting a feel for the controls of the game. Speed and power depend on how long you hold down buttons and you don't want to overshoot the goal all the time. There are a ton of combinations for special moves, bending shots, etc. that also take time to get the hang of. Actual games seem to be the easiest part, especially if you control the whole team.

I have just scratched the surface of player management and carerr modes and I don't even know what playing online against others would be like. I can tell you the game is not multi-player centric, I've played hours and hours on single player mode and have no complaints about playability or value for my money.

I totally recommend this game for anyone interested in a good soccer game.

Seems to be more realistic than any of it's previous incarnations, which is what I find to be the most valuable trait in a sports video game (realism). Noticeablely different in its pacing (slower), and the tweaked physics requires more skill in passing and control on the ball. Not much wrong with it.

Honest reviews on FIFA Soccer 13 - Xbox 360

I've played Fifa for years and owned each copy since 2006. I've enjoyed the new movement engines which has made passing, moves and formations much more realistic and fluid. There are tons of menus and options to play the game (create your own player, online, club play, etc). However, I don't ever recall the online play being so poor. Graphics are fine, but my concerns are with connection and online versus play. Often times, I lost opponents in the menu screen. After countless tests I've confirmed it's likely just EA servers (have always been questionable Madden user as well). My biggest problem with this game is that unless you play with Real Madrid or Barcelona, this game is ultimately rigged. It is nearly impossible to beat those squads. This may be more of a problem with player rating inflations (Ronaldo, Messi), but EA needs to alter the settings such that lower tier 4 star squads (everton, bayern, etc) can't be matched with those. I want to play with fun squads, but not feel forced to play with 2 and 3 stars. It's killing the fairness and fun of online play...which I believe has come to define this franchise. Hope EA looks to make these changes soon

I have been playing FIFA since FIFA 95. Since FIFA '10, this game has been getting better and better. FIFA 13 is the best entry in the series yet, but I have to take a star away for failing to fix some major flaws that have been present in the last few games.

1) Connection issues: one of the most frustrating things of all time. I have played this game on many different internet connections, and had issues everywhere. I routinely get stuck in the arena, and only going back to the dashboard allows you to escape (or signing out of Live, but then the game crashes when I sign back in...). The EA servers are down way too often. It's also pretty common to get matched up against someone, and then the game loses connection and you have to search again. Seriously EA, this is not rocket science.

2) Cluster situations: way too often, there will be an absurd chain of events that leads to a cheap goal. This can be anything from players falling over each other to the ball magically getting through several defenders. Look up some videos on YouTube, and you will see how it can be extremely irritating. Myself and my roommate have been close to smashing the Xbox in rage.

3) Goalkeeper charging: rarely works to the players advantage. The goalkeeper will often completely miss the player with the ball, leading to a goal. If the player with the ball changes direction even slightly, then suddenly the goalkeeper becomes lost & clueless. It drives me insane. Also, if the goalkeeper is charging, the attacker just needs to use the finesse shot; for whatever reason, it works every time.

4) Goals from corners/crosses: HAPPEN TOO OFTEN. Probably 30% of corners result in a headed goal that is impossible to defend. It's ridiculous. It rewards people for taking shots from stupid angles just because they know it will result in a corner.

Those are all the negatives I can think of. This is generally a very fun game with a very high skill cap. The positives are obvious and frequently mentioned in other reviews, so I won't mention them. But if you're looking for a good sports game or a good competitive game, this is awesome.
