Review of Xbox 360 - Charging Station

Xbox 360 - Charging Station
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

This charging dock is excellent and comes with two batteries for use with it. The one thing that you should know prior to buying this is that it takes special battery packs. You cannot charge your existing battery packs on this charger because the charger has to make a connection with the back of the packs. There is a metal piece on the back of the batteries that must make contact to provide a charge. They work great and I love this product but I wanted to let people know what I found.

I received an XBox 360 for Christmas 2010, and I quickly became weary of the idea of having to repeatedly buy AA batteries to keep my controllers functioning.

I purchased this product a year ago from a local electronic's store for $29.99 without knowing anything about the brand or the brand's products.

In no way do I regret the decision to buy this product. Intec took into consideration every possible factor that needs to be considered when purchasing a controller charger, and they greatly exceeded all of my expectations. A year later, this product is still running as great as it did with its first use, despite being used for nearly 100 charges.

The dock itself matches the aesthetic features of 360 controllers (the black and white ones at least), and the console itself. Though the entire shell is black, there is a silver lining adorning the front of the product, and the lights that illuminate when charging a controller glow in a green that matches the light that glows from the 360 console.

Underneath the dock is an indentation where the power cord can be stored if you are packing this item up and taking it on vacation or just to a friend's house, so there is no excuse to lose the cord. The end of the cord that you plug into an outlet is also small, and allows you to plug in other devices right next to it or on the top or bottom of it in a wall outlet or in a surge protector.

The back of the dock includes a power switch, which I thought was great for the power-saving aspect. Just remember to check and see if it is switched on when attempting to charge your controllers.

The top of the dock where the actual controller cradles are is crafted nicely, and the two slots serve as a great stand for controllers when you are not playing your console, whether your are charging them or not. Both controllers fit on the dock at the same time, though I must mention I only have OFFICIAL MICROSOFT controllers, and I never tried using off-brand controllers such as MADCATZ. I am not sure how this product fares as far as other controllers are concerned.

My favorite feature is the front of the product. When you charge the controllers, the green lights on the dock not only signal that the controllers are charging, but they also identify how many bars of power the batteries in the controllers have. I own many rechargeable docks for other consoles, such as the Wii and 3DS, and I must admit I wish this feature existed with those chargers as well. Of course, the dock also lets you know when the controllers are fully charged, which is when the bars on the front of the dock no longer flash and glow in a solid green.

The 2 battery packs that come with this dock feel exactly the same in the controller as the original battery packs that came with the controller. The charge lasts for what seems like 8-10 hours(I don't know the exact figure because I honestly never think about it since the charge lasts so long), and the batteries hold their charge for prolonged periods of inactivity as well. I once went an entire month without playing the 360, and when I turned on the controller for a few games of Madden, I still didn't need to charge the controller from the last time I played.

I appreciated this product so much that I purchased it for my brother in law this Christmas. This product is definitely worth the $30 price tag, especially when taking the price of batteries into consideration.

The reviewer who gave this product 2 stars must have received a faulty product. Trust me, this is a great deal. Although I did notice this seems to be more difficult to find, so I'm hoping Intec hasn't ceased production.

Comes with everything you need to make wireless controllers into re-chargable wireless controllers. I was tired of going through so many batteries. This works great and was less expensive than many other chargers and this one came with the batteries to charge! Highly reccomended.

Looked good enough quality wise, but the lower charging station quit working two weeks into the purchase. The lower charging station two weeks later. Cheap price, now I know why. Would not recommend this product.

I played through Hard Evidence I have a review up about that and when I saw this came out, I had to play it. Mostly for the achievements, but I also enjoy the whodunit type of games. (A side note, little factoid: This game is actually longer than Halo:ODST and Modern Warfare 2's single campaigns combined!)

Anyway, if you didn't play the first CSI you will be at a distinct disadvantage in this game. They don't even try to train you on what you need to know to case a scene. There are hints and tips, plus the occasional email from your partner to guide you. But in the first game, every time you needed to use a tool, it told you exactly what that tool was and what it did, so you knew without the game having to tell you what it was for. This time around it throws you in the thick of things with little warning about it. Just be aware that it seems tailor made for those who played Hard Evidence. If you did, you'll immediately recognize just about all of the various tools from before. One small difference is that you can only pick from four tools when ever you find a piece of evidence it's always one of the four, but you can't just pick random tools like hard Evidence. You also don't have to worry about the tweezers; they're done automatically.

My main complaint about Hard Evidence was that the cases revealed anything but "hard evidence", instead resorting to what was essentially bullying the suspect into confessing and then making an arrest based on the confession rather than proving beyond any reasonable doubt that the person was guilty of the crime. The irony is that Deadly Intent has actually fixed this quite well. This time, you'll be working so much on the evidence that there will never be doubt about who's the guilty party. In fact, when you interrogate them, you'll be presenting said evidence to them at that time. You also are required to submit evidence at the time you ask for a warrant ( they still require you to go all the way back to Brass for a warrant, unfortunately ). In short, you'll never feel as though you did a plain Jane job, and every loose end will feel quite solidly tied up.

Deadly Intent attempts to spice things up by adding little variations in the gameplay. These run the gamut from the occasional colleague asking you for assistance reviewing evidence on other cases (which you get rewarded for), to different ratings for Cunning, Skill, and Thoroughness. Depending on how you interrogate and question suspects and witnesses, you'll score high or low in each ranking. In my experience it seems to be nearly impossible to score 100% in every category on one case for some reason; maybe there's something I'm missing, but I've tried everything and just cannot seem to do it. It's frustrating, because while I can always get 100% Thoroughness (which was difficult on Hard Evidence), I can never get a high Skill rating even though I can crack DNA or fingerprints or whatever with quite good accuracy. No way to tell what they're using to measure these.

That's not to say the game doesn't have issues. First, I could swear these graphics are actually worse than Hard Evidence. I don't still have HE otherwise I would verify that, but feet in particular look absolutely horrid. Second, again, no CSI theme song. It boggles my mind why this is not being put in the game. Third, no Grissom meaning no more bug collecting for bonuses. But disregarding all of that there is one constant irritant in the game the controls. Oh my, the controls. I know there's something funky with the 360 controller analogs, because in FPSs I frequently find the reticule moving in one direction even though I'm not pressing anything. But it's subtle and easily stopped. I also never have a time when my actual character is moving in a given direction without my controlling them. IN Deadly Intent it's like it's hypersensitive to the analogs; the arrow moves at even the slightest twitch, plus the right analog controls left and right direction just like the left analog and the D-pad. If the left analog is being triggered (not by you, just randomly), and you try to move the right, the camera goes haywire and you feel out of control. Same with the left analog vs. the D-pad normally the D-pad would let you navigate from button to button, but it gets overridden by the left and right analogs. Also, there are times when you need to analyze a piece of evidence so small that you really need to move slowly and carefully across the surface and cannot, because you can't slow down the arrow tracking. A setting to slow the arrow down would have been helpful, as well as one to enable or disable certain buttons so that you didn't get these issues. There is one case in particular where you have to scan one small region of a large surface and trust me it was ABSOLUTELY frustrating.

So...do I recommend it? I do if (and ONLY if):

You played the first and liked it, and want to do more of the same;

You want essentially easy Achievement points;

You like the show and the characters; and/or

You've got nothing better to play.

That's not to say it's a terrible game. For the price it's decent. But it fixed a lot of things from Hard Evidence and made other things worse. Keep that in mind as you make your decision. You could probably beat it in a rental period.

This one's actually worse than the last game, "Hard Evidence". Of course, the show got worse with age, why not the game. Seriously, this can be fun, but it is more like a budget game rather than one based on a very popular tv show.

Great idea, poorly executed.

Moving the courser in the delicate manner required is next to impossible. It's jumpy and sometimes takes off on it's own. Sucky control.

The video is terrible in the sense that it is always way too dark. My settings are turned as bright as I can get and still there is way too many dark corners in the game where you can't see the clues. You have to just move the courser over the dark areas waiting to see the toolbox pop up Very poor graphics!

Great idea and fun that you can play with others. But so very poorly executed.

This game is a lot of fun, and it has good replay value to try to get a perfect score! The only thing I didn't really care for was the pixel hunting involved on getting evidence on some of the pieces. Other than that, lots of CSI-based mystery!CSI: Deadly Intent

I'm glad it works, it's a generic brand, so if you want to play the old Xbox games off of this hard drive. You can't. I didn't know that until after I ordered it

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Like most on here, I got the drive for a 4GB console. It was actually intended to replace a 320GB model from AGPtek, as it had begun to display erratic behavior (games couldn't be read from disk in the middle of gameplay, "unformatting" itself, etc.) and needed to be replaced. I got the drive and re-installed everything (my girlfriend's ISP probably hates me at this point, but that's a story for another time), and the unit seemed to work fine for a day or two. The console is now throwing exception code E68, which is indicative of a broken hard drive. I'm not hearing any clicking or other mechanical failure, so I'm not quite sure what is up. Sure, it's quite a bit cheaper, and the 320GB drive lasted for a year, so I'm not going to completely rate them at the bottom of the scale. However, it is bothersome, and I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to return it it yet. If the errors don't stop, I'm going to send it back and get the genuine Microsoft unit. It's annoying, to say the least, that one has to buy hard drives specifically FOR the 360. It's a SATA notebook drive, just like the 2.5" unit in your laptop.

My 5-year old is obsessed with the Hawkman, and so this was one of our first games for the Wii. I was a bit nervous because I've found past Tony Hawk games tricky for me, let alone for him, to master.

Imagine my delight when we started playing this. It's just outright fun: the characters are funny, the maps are cool with lots of different paths and shortcuts, the music is pretty sweet, and the gameplay is downright addictive. And best of all, my son picked it up lickety split. Heck, it's taken months of playing it before I've managed to get half as good as him at the trick courses!

It's the simplicity of the controls that makes this a perfect game when you don't want to cramp your hands or brain trying to remember some convoluted button sequence to do JUST the right move in JUST the right place at JUST the right time. And the difficulty ramps up perfectly, opening up courses of increasing difficulty and length as you go.

I've read some lousy reviews of this from magazines and critics. Glad to see some real-world players giving this game the props it deserves. Bring on Downhill Jam 2!

This is a great Wii game that actually takes advantage of the motion sensing functionality of the Wii.

In this game you control a racer with the Wii-mote in the Steering style. You can race or try to get a high score on the trick mode (like in SSX (PlayStation 2)). You can attack your opponents and if you hit jumps you can do all sorts of moves (also like SSX Tricky). In trick mode there are multipliers that increase your score (like in SSX 3..., ok so this isn't the most original game). Some people may have some issues since this game is quite unlike any other TH game, but it is actually quite similar to a particular boarding game.

Let me spell it out: Tony Hawk + SSX = one of the most fun Wii titles.

In the game you have the choice of several characters with slightly differing stats, as well as the ability to create your own character. As you play the single player game you can unlock new boards, people, and racing venues. All of the racing locations are based (somewhat liberally) on real world locations, like Glastonbury, Rio, Maccu Piccu, Rome, San Francisco...

This game is also a great multiplayer game and I guarantee you'll have lots of fun (or lots of cursing depending on how you finish your race).

This game is easy to learn, the controls are simple to understand, and anyone can pick up and play. Mastering the game however is a difficult process.

To be honest, I didn't expect much from this game, but it really has a lot to offer. I doubt that this game would be at the top of anyone's Wii list but it is definitely a quality title that you should try out, especially with some friends.

NOTE: The description for this game says: "online gameplay." To the best of my knowledge this is NOT an online enabled game.

As a review said earlier, this game is not very original. I'm a huge fan of the ssx series, and while playing this I realized how similar it was, but still incredibly fun. I play multiplayer with 4 people, its so fun. Our favorite is doing big air (trick), makes my arms kinda sore, shake the remote backwards to do backflips and other cool moves. Other cool game modes are steal the head and elimination. A lot of cool courses, I believe its 12 in total. I highly recommend this game for those who want a fun multiplayer game, extremely similar to ssx, like on tour, but oh well, still awesome.

This is my oldest 2 sons favorite game. They are 5 and 8. We have over 20 games, but they play this one everyday. (This and Super Smash Bros Brawl).

I bought this for my son, who is almost 7. The game says ages 10 and up, but he picked up on it right away. He loves it, and has been playing it ALOT since we got it. My 37 year old husband loves it nearly as much! There are even a few girl skaters to select, which I've played with. The graphics aren't as good as other game systems, I think that's the general for Wii overall. Wii makes up for it with the interaction you get in these games. This game is alot of fun! It's very realistic.

I remember the old days when X-men was at the arcade eating

Anyway...this game is what started the whole VS title, and it

remained as one of the top classic game of all time. The arcade

version was fast and furious, which why i give only 4 star to the playastation 1 ,The PS1 version is terribly slow in both visually and physicly.Still, capcom doesn't make games like this

I Like this game a lot although the character selection of only 10 fighters (Cyclops, Wolverine, Psylocke, Iceman, Colossus, Storm, Spiral, Silver Samurai, Omega Red and A sleek version of a Sentinel to boot) is small. This is the first of a seemingly endless array of sequels for the Playstaton and Dreamcast systems. Nicely done graphics, music gets a little too heroic at times but the gameplay itself is almost flawless!! If you're a Street Fighter and X-Men fan, this game is a must!!! Note: To younger kids, this game is pretty difficult even on easy for someone less than 15...

Best Deals for X-Men: Children of the Atom - PlayStation

Capcom's X-Men: Children of the Atom is essentially Street Fighter with Wolverine and co. instead of Ryu and the bunch. During it's time in arcades, X-Men was tried but true 2-D fighting greatness with excellent graphics, addictive gameplay, and an actually innovative fighting system. The first home system the game was released for was Sega's ill-fated 32 bit Saturn system. The game translated much better on that system than it does on the PS1, as this conversion is loaded with sloppy animation glitches, plenty of slowdown, long loading times, and some painful controls. Because the PS1 is a 32-bit system, it simply doesn't have the power to generate the fast paced action of the arcade version. This game, and plenty of other Capcom 2-D fighters (including X-Men VS Street Fighter, Marvel VS Capcom, etc.) never did translate well to Sony's first money making video game system (funny how many of them fared better on the Saturn), and only when the more powerful systems that would be released later would Capcom's 2-D fighting games be anywhere as good as they were in arcades. If you're an X-Men fan, this may be worth a look, but the Marvel VS Capcom games that were released for the Dreamcast and current systems like the PS2 and XBox are much more worth your time.

I have my own copy of this old yet very fun game. I love this game, the only character in there I play as is Akuma from "Super Street Fighter 2 turbo" and he seems to have all his moves from the Street Fighter game he has his dual air fireballs, "In the Street Fighter game if you're playing as Akuma you only can throw one air-fireball at one time only, of course in this game he has both of Ryu's and Kens super combos now at his disposal. I only play this game as Akuma and no one else. He is my all time favourite character in this great game. I absolutely love this game, "X-Men: Children of the Atom" the graphics are not that great but you can still have alot of fun with this great game. Playing the game as Akuma is like I said the best part of the game, doing the code for him is very simple and very easy to remember. Unfortunately you cannot save your scores in it like most games, but like I said it is still a fun and great game. I just might play it as soon as I am done writting this review on this great and wonderful game.

I'm a huge WWII buff and per-ordered this the day it went up.

I've been playing it since release, it's a good game, but very hard.

The Game 70 out of 100

You can play in arcade (3rd person view only) or simulation (3rd person, cockpit or wingtip)

It looks and sounds a lot like the real thing. When you max your speed (what they call warspeed) and aim towards the ground you get that roaring sound.

Bullets have drop and you have to lead the enemy, and you really really need to learn when to use yaw and when to bank.

The ground is ok, not terribly detailed even when you crash into it. They planes are very good, however the controls inside the cockpit don't work.

The biggest problem is with the scale of the planes. In cockpit view I head toward a line of zero head on. Since I am attacking from height they I should be able to see a nice view of the plane. Instead all I can see is a big yellow arrow pointing toward where they are.

I circle around behind and pick them off, but even getting up fairly close they are not more than an inch on a 50 inch screen.

I wish it was more like Secret weapons of the Luftwaffe (1990 game by lucas arts)

The Joystick (95)

First its big, real big. Put it on a table and it will not move. Yaw, pitch, bank. Three buttons on top, plus a rocker. The trigger is about the size of a mouse button, but oddly doesn't click all the way in. It rest on a giant spring.

The throttle has two parts that you can keep linked together, very smooth and quiet sliding action.

While using the yaw (rotating the stick around) I actually felt my wrist start to get sore (insert joke here). The spring does want to return the stick to a neutral position.

On note. The stick comes in two piece. You put the stick on the base and use the grey locknut to screw it all the way up. Make sure the pins are clean, then tighten it up all the way. If you don't the green (trigger) button will not work.

bought this on sale --the only time to do this is on sale as the joystick is what ya want to get for other flight games

the joystick

great stick all around great features for the price(on sale) works well with flight sims good layout of buttons and the throttle seems at this time made for 1 engine games but seems to be made for 2 engines -it as a plastic linky deal in between throttle handles (later on feature maybe for 2 engine games?). good button lay out and nice extra feeling on switches on base

the game

video --looks horrible

-the game is too light at all times and its not my TV --did this game on 2 different sets and still way too light

the effects too bland

the ground--for game that has ground attack missions in it --HAVE stuff look good there ya know on the ground.

missionsman talk about repeating the same stuff over and over take first area for example "pearl harbor". This was the attack on dec 7th bit in game BORING. You just shot down wave after wave of planes with little rhyme or reason. To the point after I was about 3/4's done I was "done!". The after action report said I had shot down over 150 planes "one man army" I hate games that make you have to do it all!!

flight sim part -ok

missions briefing or AKA what and where I am going and what to do --LACKING BIG TIME most of time found out what to do and how to do it via trail and error as the in game "this is where ya go" arrows are little help

the planes-

they at least look good and fly in general the way they should

2 stars mostly for the joy stick

buy--only on sale as the game is not what ya want the stick is

To be fair I'm going to split this review into two parts. Single Player and Multi Player. Since they both run on different engines, its only fair to separate the two as far as quality and game-play goes.

*Single Player*

Game Play:

I always play my games on the hardest difficulty because I want to be challenged and get my $49-59 worth. Single player on hard is so easy, I think even the most novice player could beat it with no sweat. I beat the game in what was literally a solid 2.5-3 hours and died about 5 times. I'm no FPS guru, but for comparison it took me about 10-15 hours to beat MW2 and Reach on their hardest difficulty. I'm not a Halo or MW2 fanboy and I hate to make the comparison, but those two games on their highest difficulty have made me seriously consider throwing my XBox out the window (some of you know what I'm talking about). That's the level of difficulty I expect from any "big name" FPS. 3 hours of game play is just insulting. It partially has to do with the A.I. The only time you'll have trouble is when you don't see and enemy. Other than that, the controls are great and familiar. MOH does have this feature called "Look/Lean" where you can poke your head out from behind a corner or object and lay down some suppression fire. Its interesting, but I don't see many people using that feature.

Story:

This game doesn't have a story line, it has a story circle. You start the game with no clear intention of your overall objective. All you know is that you're deep in Afghanistan looking for "bad guys" and you're there to exterminate them all and that is the cycle of pretty much 95% of the game. Now I know it's based off a real war at real places and real events and the terrorist are the bad guys and the idea is to win, which is fine. But the overall idea of this game is just kill bad guys and keep killing them till there aren't any left. That's not a story, that's a theme. This game lacks a clear beginning, middle and end.

Graphics:

It looks real, like any other war game. The daylight scenes are very detailed with the tree lines and mountain ranges. I don't care to hear idiotic opinions about "the characters hand looked fuzzy for 2 seconds during a cut scene". That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I'll put it like this. When you shoot people, blood spews from their exit wounds. When a bullet hits someone in the head, pieces of their skull and brain matter spray the wall behind them. I think that's graphic enough.

Sound:

Amazing. That is one of the few things this game really has going for it. The soundtrack is pretty good to. The music from the end still gives me goosebumps.

Comments:

This game is seriously not done. The amount of glitches and A.I. foolishness is clearly noticeable at many times during the game. You'll see enemies "gumby" their way across the opposing battlefield as you desperately try to shoot them to no avail. The only other big flaw is the automation. The game works on the premise that you have to be in a particular spot to advance your teammates to the next part of the mission. It can get rather annoying running around the map looking for that particular "pressure point"

*Multi Player*

Game Play:

Online play is fun and exciting. There is definitely a noticeable difference in the game-play from multi to single player. It is a bit slow to get going because of the limited load-outs and weapon selections that you have when you first start playing. I suppose that after you start leveling up and gaining more options this would be alleviated. I personally feel that the game plays to slow during the matches, however it has its merits. Aside from the aforementioned "glitchyness", the multi-player is definitely a fresh alternative to the existing lineup.

Overall:

This game was probably the most disappointing FPS title that I've purchased. I don't say that to be cruel, but this game feels like it was really rushed and they could have spent more time developing it. It will have its time to shine, however it really can't stack up to its competition. I know people like to tout the notion that why does everything have to be compared with COD. Well its a FPS war game. It is only logical that you make a comparison of the two because not everyone has $60 to spend on every new game that comes out. I realize that some people have to seriously consider between the two choices. So I have to say, for the sake of clarity that this game is not as good as MW2 which was released a considerable amount of time before it.

*SYNOPSIS*

This game is not without its merits. It has many flaws, but most you can overlook. Medal of Honor does a good job of delivering a fresh multi-player layout and generally good online game play. However it has many crucial flaws that just don't give it enough merit to stay in full rotation against its existing competition and I suspect its soon to be competition.

3/5 Buy this game used after a few weeks or rent it. If you're strapped for cash, I'd pass on this one. Or find a friend like me who buys all the big new titles and borrow it from him/her when they inevitably dish it for the next big title..

As a memeber of the Army serving currently in Afghanistan I do not see what the fuss is all about. I am not offended by this game at all. It is a game. It is entertaining and I play it when I have time here in Afghanistan. I wish the Taliban did fight back like they do on the game. We could ball these jokers up in the time it took to finish the game. lol Sadly enough all they do is emplace IEDs. As far as the game play is concerned it is tight and responsive. It helps that the controls are like Call of Duty. I like this game more than Call of Duty Black Ops but it is not as good as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 or 2. Just my opinion. I wish you could play versus split screen but that is not an option. Sucks... But, overall it is a great game. And it is not offensive to the Armed Forces. Stop putting words in my mouth while you sit on your butts back home doing nothing. I am fighting for freedom. The freedom to play what the hell I want to play...

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series is such a blockbuster that every FPS inevitably gets compared to it. That seems to be why this game is getting rather mediocre reviews; if you're looking for a MW2 look-alike, this ain't it. But I don't think it was meant to be either. The whole advertising campaign revolved around its uber-realism as it is loosely based on US SOF activities in Afghanistan immediately following 9/11. Everything from the lingo to the settings and gameplay aspire to give you the closest possible experience of being a "Tier One" operator (the top dawgs of the SOF community). On this front I think they did a decent job.

Single player: As I previously mentioned, the single player campaign is based on the initial invasion of Afghanistan in the weeks following 9/11. You play in various alternating roles including a Navy SEAL, a Ranger, and an Apache pilot. The campaign is pretty fun because it's a good combination of traditional FPS and newer roles like calling in Air Support, .50 cal long-range sniper, Apache pilot, etc... It is very realistic (to the point where you might not understand what they're saying if you're not familiar with Military-speak, e.g. 5 mikes instead of 5 minutes or RTB instead of return to base). As far as glitches I didn't really notice many. I did have one where my ATV got stuck in between two trees and that required a reset but it seemed like a freak accident and I wasn't too annoyed. I thought the graphics were pretty good, but I'm pretty forgiving of things like frame rate, graphics etc for what it's worth. As far as difficulty I don't think it was too easy. They have a Tier One mode that is unlocked for each level after it is completed. Everyone who said it was too easy probably didn't play on it. Although I do wish the campaign was a bit longer I don't think it was atrociously short; but you can easily finish it in a weekend.

Multiplayer: There are a few types of games: team deathmatch, team objective, sector control, and you get to choose between 3 classes of soldiers, each with their own weapons: Rifleman, Special Ops, Sniper. You level up each class separately by playing in that class. The points system is a basic 10 points for each kill plus bonus points for particular achievements (head shots, tier 1 kills, double kills, etc...) The gameplay is a little different than you'd expect based on the single player. For example the button layout is different and a lot of functionality from the single-player mode is disabled, such as the slide to cover or going prone. Yes you read that right: you can't go prone in multiplayer. But it's a good thing because otherwise snipers would be unstoppable as there is no kill cam. This game emphasizes shooting skill as the explosives (grenades, rockets) are very weak and unless someone is right next to the explosion they will survive. It's nice because it more or less eliminates noob tubing, but these limitations also give an advantage to snipers in some levels (particularly Diwagal Camp). It would be nice if they enabled the slide to help dodge snipers. There are also kill streak rewards, although they're not as elaborate, or fun, as those in COD:MW.

Overall I think it's a fun game and I don't regret buying it. I give it a solid 4 stars. Here are some of the things that can be improved upon and make it 5-star worthy: a longer single player campaign, ability to slide in multiplayer, more involved kill streak rewards, rebalancing teams that are obviously uneven, and making the Diwagal Camp less sniper-friendly (how about a tunnel to cross valley?).

Honest reviews on Medal of Honor - Xbox 360

My review applies primarily to multi-player, but I will say a quick word about the campaign.

The campaign, while buggy, was indeed fun to play, the game play was interesting and felt authentic all the way through. It feels genuine to be fighting an actual sworn enemy of America, not the Russians for once. The plot was realistic and the controls felt familiar. Audio was superb and the graphics were on par with its FPS competitors, offering some outstanding daytime landscapes of Afghanistan. My biggest criticisms for this mode would be it feels unfinished as it lacks a coherent storyline and is quite short, stopping abruptly. The AI could use improvement, as well.

As for multi-player however, I'm very unimpressed.

Just about everything that frustrates me about Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 2 returns in this game, with little of what makes those titles great. While the controls now offer basically the same layouts as Modern Warfare 2, which does make for easy cross-over, there is still no way to edit them to your personal liking. There is nothing worse than trying to make a quick turn while in the midst of a direct firefight with multiple tangos than accidentally stabbing wildly at the air.

Unlike the campaign mode, in multi-player there is no way to go prone or dive into cover. This is extremely frustrating for folks like me who like to hit the deck when under heavy fire. The destructible environment settings have been extremely scaled back, which is not a big deal to me, as many maps are mountainous anyway, however there is no "spotting" in this game which I definitely miss.

There is, as far as can tell, little to no communication between players in this game on XBL. At first I found the issue was likely related to my voice settings, but once fixed, I still heard nothing but crickets. I am a big fan of tactical communication and team work.

The maps seem rather unbalanced and to be designed with snipers in mind. Your team has an obvious advantage or disadvantage depending on which side of the map you start. Each map has a handful of strategic bottlenecks you need to cross, and they quickly get torn apart with sniper fire and as the kills rack up, eventually mortars and rockets. Maps appear quite similar and boundaries are poorly designed causing you to make multiple attempts at flanking your enemy only to realize there is an invisible wall where you are trying to go.

The spawn killing, rubber-banding and time-travel kills which occur in both BC2 and MW2 make their appearance here as well. The superior BC2 spawn system does not return in this game and the offered classes lack both the variety of MW2 and clearly defined roles of BC2.

I could go on, but you get the idea, in the end the final product feels like an early beta. It truly feels like playing a work in progress and that's not enough to succeed in this genre. It tries to do Bad Company + Modern Warfare, and in the end makes a mockery of each.

Overall, the campaign mode saves this game from being a total train wreck and makes it worthy of your time... but only as a rental. Play through it once, spend an additional few hours getting some multi-player achievements and you're done.

Don't waste $60 on this game.

As a single-player gamer, I normally love MOH games (Airborne is one of my all-time favorites) but this game is nothing at all like Airborne. It's actually too much like Call of Duty. Your player's movement is confined to a very limited area of play, and the game dictates where, when, and how to advance, as well as what weapons you will use to eliminate enemies. In other words, you have very little freedom of choice in this game. You cannot go about completing objectives on your own terms -you MUST follow the script of the game to the letter in order to advance through missions. I find that to be no fun at all.

There are no weapons upgrades to earn, no med kits to find, no bonuses, no secrets to unlock or hidden places to discover, etc. There's literally nothing interesting to do in this game. All you can do is follow the yellow brick road and adhere to the tightly-regimented script. After playing the game for about two hours, I was so bored I quit and deleted the game from my console.

The graphics are phenomenal. The game is a lot like a movie. Unfortunately, MOH put so much into the cinematics and realism, they forgot to make the game fun for the gamer.

This is not only protective, but it looks awesome too! My friends came over and just stared at it, trying to figure out what it was until I explained and got a flurry of compliments on it. They all wanted one too! The colors are bright and vibrant and really make it stand out, plus the controlled hook on the side is handy as well. Also, it's very easy to install. Definitely worth the money!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program PROS:

+ Only takes 3 hours to charge, as opposed to Sony's 6 hours

+ A great low-cost alternative to the Sony PS3 headset

+ Clear sound receiving and sending

+ Comfortable fit, adjustable ear hook and microphone placement

CONS:

It's only fitted for the right ear

You have to use the charge cable with this product, PS3 cords won't work

Mute does not show on the PlayStation 3 screen

------------------------------------------------

Gioteck seems to have done their homework and improved on their previous EX-01 and EX-02 headsets. When I game online, I want to make sure that other players can hear me, I can hear them, and I can mute without too much hassle. The EX-03 meets each of my requirements.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

I was irritated by the small font in the instruction book, but that's a minor gripe.

Pairing was a little cumbersome, I had to scan my headset to register it as a Bluetooth device, whereas my Sony PS3 headset was recognized by connecting it with a USB cable.

PROS:

I was happy to see it only took 3 hours to get a full charge on the EX-03 headset, my old Sony PS3 headset took 6 hours to fully charge.

There were 3 earbuds included, and I used the smallest one. The earbud focused the sound inside my ear and was very soft, which was a vast improvement over my Sony PS3 earpiece.

When I played Little Big Planet 1 and 2 and Splinter Cell: Blacklist, all the other players could hear me without any problems, and I could hear them loud and clear.

The ear hook and microphone extension were easy to adjust to my comfort level, and even after a 2 hour stretch of gaming, this headset didn't cut into my ear or feel heavy with prolonged use. The volume up and down buttons were easy to use.

CONS:

The Gioteck EX-03 headset is only fitted for the right ear, so the lefties are out of luck on this one. It even says in the instruction manual "Unfortunately this is not possible." Truth be told, I rarely use my left ear for headset usage, but The Sony PS3 headset gave me the option to switch if I wanted to.

Don't throw away the box thinking you can use your Sony cables to charge this headset you have to use the charging cable that comes with it, nothing else works.

When I put my headset on mute, there wasn't any visual indication on my PS3 screen (which does show up for the Sony PS3 headset) instead, I would hear two descending tones about 4 seconds apart. If I wanted to turn my mic back on, I had to press the power button and I'd hear two ascending tones to indicate it was back on.

MY VERDICT:

On the whole, this is a very crisp and clear headset and does exactly what I want...allows me to hear and be heard without any discomfort. If that's what you want from a gaming headset (and you don't want to spend the extra $ for a Sony PS3 headset), then this one will get the job done.

Recommended.

Honest reviews on Gioteck EX03 Bluetooth Headset for PS3

I've never had an ear piece before and i really didn't want to pay for an expensive one. i saw this gio-tech and read up on it. it came in the box perfect, and was ready to go. Syncing it to my ps3 was easy and quick. i use it now to play COD and Borderlands and it has really helped my game play and being connected with my friends. mind it that it doesn't have the sound like a turtle beach but since i don't use it just for COD, it was a win/win for everything. my wallet didn't suffer, my gaming increased, and I'm far better off now. highly recommended for someone who isn't looking to spend alot but still wants a high quality ear piece.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have used other wireless headsets with my Playstation 3 and this is by far the best.

It was very easy to set up. After you set it up the Playstation doesn't have to be set up again each time.

My previous headset required a setup each time I used it. The sound quality is also way better than my previous unit.

I can hear perfectly. The mike is excellent. Some have complained the ear piece is on the large size but it fit me perfectly and I'm not a huge guy.

I highly recommend the Gioteck EX03 Bluetooth Headset for PS3.

I started out the X4's, then the X41's. So two years of better gaming. Both were great for many reasons. I even thought they were perfect. Now owning the PX5's for a week, it makes the other ones I have owned seem flawed. They really did justice to the PX5. Cable fits more snug to the Xbox controller, the volume control has a better range, and interference is little to none with the PX5. And even though the sound on the X41 is outstanding, the sound on the PX5 is even better.

If you have the money or can scrape up the money and you play a lot of MP type games, you really need a good headset to step up your game. Being able to know someone is coming, how close the might be, and what direction they are coming from really helps. Even if you just play on campaigns, these headsets really help to immerse yourself into the game's environment.

The biggest plus with any headset for speakers is being able to play games loudly without keeping everyone else awake. More importantly, if you play games that has harsh language and you have kids, then you keep them from accidentally hearing it.

UPDATE 4/13/2011

Well, a few weeks of use now. I use them with the 360 and so far, I am averaging 10 to 12 hours of use before replacing the batteries. I use rechargeable NiMH batteries. The best feature they added to this headset, that the other models did not have, is they finally give you a warning your batteries are about to die.

The sound is still great. I have tried the various presets and they really help depending on what type of game you play. Still highly recommended.

This is my day 1 review, but after about 4 hours playing yesterday this is an AWESOME headset and no regrets dropping the money for this one. All the other reviewers covered the performance aspects of this headset which totally sold me on it and I have nothing to add.

The one thing I wanted to share were two points about the setup process and how to integrate this into your existing home theatre for those of you who use your PS3 as the DVD/Blu-ray player in your Home Theatre.

BACKGROUND:

For both of these points it's important to first understand the wire connections between the PX5 to your PS3. You'll use:

(1) the included toslink cable to connect your PS3 optical audio out to the PX5 optical audio port;

(2) the included USB cable to connect an open PS3 USB jack to the PX5 power jack (this one kind of stinks because USB is on the front of your PS3 which makes hiding the wires a bit harder).

SETUP CLARIFICATION:

The instructions for the PX5 are not completely clear on the fact that there are 2 steps to getting the Audio and Voice Chat to work. Which, if you're like me, will mean you'll start up COD and end up with a very nice headset for chat but hear no game sounds.

1) For voice chat, the instructions are out of order you first Bluetooth pair the PX5 headset to your PS3 (using the provided instructions and the PS3 menu Settings > Accessory Settings > Manage Bluetooth Devices); and THEN set your PS3 to use the PX5 headset for voice chat (using the provided instructions and the PS3 menu Settings > Accessory Settings > Audio Device Settings). Don't be confused that the Audio Device Settings having the Output Device means you'll get the game sounds through the headphones this only sends chat output to the headphones.

2) For game/movie audio output, if your PS3 is currently hooked up to your TV or Home Theater using only HDMI cable or AV Multi connector you likely have no audio coming to the headset or at best you will have downgraded 2-channel audio coming to the headset. You have to modify the Sound Settings to send surround sound to the Optical audio output jack (using PS3 menu Settings > Sound Settings > Audio Output Settings and setting the Digital Out (Optical) to have 5.1 sound coming out). This will also turn off your HDMI / AV Multi sound output meaning your TV/Home Theater go deaf unless you also turn on Audio Multi-Output (using PS3 menu Settings > Sound Settings > Audio Multi-Output). When you enable multi-output, the multi-output can only output surround sound out of a single output at a time and all other outputs get just 2-channel audio.

Which brings me to my second point.

HOME THEATER SETUP:

The PS3 has a limitation to only send digital surround sound output through 1 output at a time: either HDMI or Digital Out (Optical). So if you're currently using your PS3 in your Home Theater and you rely on HDMI cable to send the Audio and Video to your TV / Receiver you're either going to have to keep switching the Audio Output Settings back and forth when you want PS3 to output to Digital Out (so you can use your PX5's) or HDMI (so you can use your Home Theater). OR you can pick up an extra toslink cable (like AmazonBasics Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable, 6 Feet) and then read this setup suggestion. The PX5 has an Optical Input and Output jack so you can connect PS3 > toslink > PX5 > toslink > TV/Receiver. Then you can leave your PS3 permanently outputting surround sound to Digital Out (Optical) and your PX5 will forward the signal to your TV/Receiver so it has available surround when you want to listen via your Home Theater.

Hope this helps you avoid a second order if you order the PX5 and extra toslink cable at same time.

Best Deals for Ear Force PX5 Programmable Wireless 7.1 Dolby Digital Surround

The sound is crystal clear, and the mic works perfectly. Wanna know the best thing about these headphones? No more complaining from my girlfriend about all of the loud gunfire and explosions during gameplay. And even if she did complain, I couldn't hear her.

Honest reviews on Ear Force PX5 Programmable Wireless 7.1 Dolby Digital Surround

I've had the Triton AxPro, X41, X31, Astro, and now the PX5.(All from Amazon, which was awesome this time as always) These are the best sounding by a landslide. Why the 4 star rating? Well, until I can customize my mic settings and edit my audio presets, and change "the voice" (yes, the headphones talk)... I can only rate it four stars. 5 is perfect. These are not. I facebooked TurtleBeach and asked whats up with the software that the manual and box say is on their website. "It isn't up there yet, it will be in a couple of days". Furthermore, that same manual makes mention of a Bluetooth adapter for the 360 controller for complete wireless chat... Also absent from their website. So those are the shortcomings for now. I hope the website is updated within 27 days, if not I will have to return these as they are only half what the box says they are. No editing mic levels, no voice morph, no custom presets, and no Bluetooth dongle.

All that said, they are awesome. Switching from Pandora on iPhone 4 to Black Ops is effortless. In fact they can be done at the same time! And I've named "her" Barbra. She tells me where we are in the presets: 1 ... 2 ... 3 and so on, or "Bluetooth on" or "Headset pairing". They are really quite amazing. The distance is larger from base to head as well. I can clearly hear BLOPS in the bathroom for those 1 minute breakswhereas with the x41 I was constantly met with signal loss. When these do lose signal, the transition is MUCH less jarring. The game sounds simply cut in and out until they are gone all together. They fade back in the same way. Lastly, not one pop, absolutely no hiss, not one crackle in range. The only audio flaw is that when "she" says "Bluetooth powering off" the "...off" fades out a bit. Those other things missing are icing on the cake. But the cake cost 250$ and I don't like cake without icing. Hopefully an update will follow, that is positive.

FOLLOW UP:

I had to return the headset to Amazon. Booooo. Yes, there is some software on TB website. As kitschy as a "voice morph" is... It simply doesn't warrant a 250$ price tag. The actual "real" software is still absent from their website (Whatever "Coming Soon" means). I want to adjust, at the very least, some generic "bass" setting or tinker with a "treble" slider. In addition to that flagrant faux pas, there is no Bluetooth dongle to be had for us 360 exclusive gamers. BOTH of these items are listed IN THE MANUAL and in the description of their product on their own site! This is not to diminish the quality of either the build or the sound. Both are superior to their the X41 model. But not for almost double the cost. Until the price comes down, and/or these other two items are available... I will not recommend this product. Continue to enjoy the X41. In fact, buy two and let the wife enjoy some quality sounds while gaming or watching a flick or two. I do miss these cans, but I not as much as I missed the $$$. I hope to update again soon. I also hope I can do more than be blinded by their beauty and gush over their sound. Maybe I could even review this elusive software, and even more mysterious Bluetooth dongle. By then, I bet they are at least 50$ cheaper too. Which in turn will likely pay for a portion of the sure-to-be over priced dongle.

Also, I don't care to be involved in the flame debate below... Nothing personal, I'd just rather be playing video games... Or eating broken glass.

Second Follow Up:

As of late July 2011 the software is up on TB website. I will review them again once the Bluetooth adapter is available... Maybe. Or I'll just get the Xbox version of the PX5, to be released "soon".

The Turtle Beach's PX5s are here to replace its predecessor the X41s.

My best friend had those headphones but returned them because of this hissing, cracking sound that was god awful. However, TB has rid of this problem as it is no longer happening in the PX5s. THIS IS HUGE. If you do your research you will see a plethora of complaints about the X41s having this issue.

Further, if you are really into FPS games such as killzone, COD, BFBC2 etc, then you will appreciate some of the presets such as silent footsteps; some presets really immerse you in the game. Some ppl speculated that the presets may just be a gimmick or ploy from TB but INDEED THEY ARE NOT AND THEY WORK.

NOTE: Make sure to use ninjo pro on BO to really get the advantage or else you will end up hearing the sound of YOUR OWN footsteps, which is not desirable.

Lastly, you should know that MLG recommends the ASTRO A40s, which are also awesome but come with an even heftier price tag of 350+[(when you include the wireless option. Of course, these are wireless and have more features (voice changer, downloading more presets, comes with DUAL bluetooth capabilities which is something that you CANNOT get on the astros)]. The latter feature helps a lot since my gf likes to bother me while I'm gaming and my Android can be answered by a click of a button through the PX5s; pretty cool, eh?!

Also it is helpful for you to know that the Astros are known for really good Ambient sound and Narration. Also, the astros made an improvement with their 2011 edition giving better bass containment then they offered before. The px5 don't have a bass booster toggle like the x41s, however, this is no longer a single-option-feature since the presets coupled with the ability to self adjust/customize the sound at an even greater depth is ALL at the user's fingertips.

The Px5 are probably the most advance and best WIRELESS GAMING headsets you can get on the market right now and with amazon's superb CSRs and pricing, you can't go wrong.

PS please don't bother comparing these to the Tritton Pros and/or the 720s it really undermines the Px5s, they are not in the same league.

Update 4/1/2011

After muh more use and playing around with the headsets, I decided to give an update. Honestly, I have a issue with the lack of proper bass; that is there is not a fair balance of adequate/tight/clean bass ESPECIALLY is you are on preset 2 or 4. If someone throws a grenade and it lands by me or if there of many sounds going on out once, there is CONSIDERABLE distortion. This is not acceptable for such an expensive headset. So yeah, it has a multitude of features, but what is the point if you are not getting quality sound. Aside from that, the mids and highs are pretty good.

Here is what I wrote in response to a comment: "Now honestly, these are not going to sound as good as the 598s, or 555, the guy who has some distortion in the bass does not have a defective product, it's just like someone said here, these aren't going to be comparable to HD cans from a company like Senn, denon, etc. I swear they sound pretty good and I enjoy them but of course they are not up to par with some of the foregoing headsets mentioned above. Do they blow the Tritton 720/pros (crap madCatz) and px21s out of the water? Yes! But don't plan on getting the best GAMING headphones (on balance) and expect sound quality which you would receive from a similar priced audiophile company...it aint gonna' happen (at least not right now)"

Hope this was helpful...

OH and ONE LAST THING, to the guy who said he got 20hrs plus, YEAH RIGHT. That is NOT true unless you have the mic and bluetooth off. Sorry. Just had to clarify for everyone. It is entirely feasible and average for 6 hrs use if the bluetooth function is on all the time bc boy does that sure drain the batt.

I play a lot of different RPG's and was not a fan of Elder Scrolls Oblivion. I will list the pros and cons as impartially as possible so you can be the judge on what matters to you.

PROS:

You are left to explore and find things to do and quests on your own. This game is a true RPG. You have one main quest. Everything else are side quests.

Over 100+ hours of places to explore. and more than 100+ unique map locations.

Tons of perks and ways to develop your character. Become a science genius or concentrate on stealth and your lockpicking ability. Invest in large guns and go into places with guns ablaze. Play the game how you want. Be good and people will love you, be bad and people will fear you.

Replay value. This is rare in RPGs but Because of the many different ways you can play the game I see myself playing this game again to play a different type of character.

Some people complain about the targeting system known as VATS. This game is not an FPS. VATS gives you a wonderful 1st person shooter feel with an RPG style or turned based combat. Score a critical by shooting your enemies head and it might explode. Shoot the enemy on his weapon hand and he will not be able to attack you very quickly.

The graphics are amazing. Its a beautiful post apocalyptic mess. The detail from the stains on a found mattress or a found comic called "Grognak the Barbarian and the Lair of the Virgin Killer" are all amazing. You can tell a lot of thought went into detail.

The voice work is nice. Almost every character talks out loud. This allows you to listen and respond instead of just watching a mouth move and reading dialog all the time.

Enemies do not automatically level with your character. This was my biggest problem with Oblivion. Some people liked the fact that enemies would always be your level. I found it totally unrealistic. Go ahead, run your level 1 character through the Wastelands. You might come across an easy roach or a mutant with a minigun. In my book this makes the game more fun and much more realistic.

I have read on the forums and some bad reviews here that they can not find tons of ammo. This is not Halo, Call of Duty or any other FPS. People need to take the right mindset. This is a world 200 years after major Nuclear war. Things will break, ammo is sometimes scarce, radiation is a fact of life, bottle caps are money, people trade everything and you live in a harsh world. I think some people need to watch the Madmax series just as a primer to understand the world created here.

Instant travel. Once you have visited an area you no longer need to walk to the location. You can locate the area on your map (through the PIPBoy 3000) and select it to instantly travel.

The PipBoy 3000 Interface works great. This allows you to keep track of stats, items, equipment, quests, notes, maps, and karma very easily. The UI is easy and it keeps all the data you need at your finger tips.

CONS:

AI is nothing special. It's not bad, just nothing special. When I am shooting a shotgun at you, running at me with a pool cue might not be the smartest thing to do. They will sometimes run away if severely over matched (which is the smart thing to do). The AI is no worse then any other games, just no big improvements here.

Lack of good music. You can find radio stations on your PIPBoy but I was not a fan of the music. The background can be ok but not great. Sometimes when alone in the Wasteland you want some good background music.

I had the game crash once but not a lot of times like some people are reporting. Still unacceptable but manageable. Loading and saving times can take anywhere between 10-30 seconds which is kind of slow.

No item descriptions. The important data like weight, condition value, and perks of the item are still displayed but full description of the items are no longer available. This is different then Fallout 1 and 2 where each item had a paragraph describing it.

Additional thoughts:

This game is rated "M". This means you shouldn't play this game with kids in the room. This isn't a Con for me but this might be a problem for all you gamer mom and dads out there. Seriously, no kids allowed. Women offer there "Services", cussing, blood splatter on the screen when you get injured, mutants hanging people on meat hooks, tons of drug use, and of course blowing peoples limbs off. Good times but not for the kiddies.

No, its not perfect but it is a lot of fun and the best RPG currently on the market. My 5 star review was based on that fact. This is the best RPG I have played since FFX (Final Fantasy X). I hope you enjoy it.

I have been enjoying Fallout 3 for about 70 hours now and I am having as much fun now as I was 50 hours ago, which is to say A LOT.

I cannot speak to the bugs that others seem to be experiencing. In my 70 hours I have had my game freeze only a handful of times, and none of them were anything that was game breaking. I have several friends who are also playing and none of them have expressed any serious glitches either.

I have played both the previous Fallout games and vastly enjoyed them both, so to make a blanket statement that "anyone who was a fan of the first 2 Fallouts will hate this game" is just erroneous. I would agree with someone who said this game is more of a Next Gen title in the Fallout Universe rather than a true sequel to the Interplay games.

However, that does not in any way detract from the epic amount of fun to be found in Fallout 3.

The adventuring around the Wastes is the highlight of the game to be sure. The amazing amount of freedom to roam the Wastes is just phenomenal, so much so that once you do decide to progress the Main Story it can seem very limiting and cramped at times, especially when crawling around through the DC Ruins and all the subway tunnels required to get to the Main Mall.

However, compared to the vast scope and size of the experience, this is a minor complaint and really a very short and small portion of the game. It should only take maybe 5 hours to explore it all and finish up some questing, then you can Fast Travel back whenever you want and get back to tearing it up in the Wastes.

Combat is quality, but it is NOT a Shooter. People expecting Shooter mechanics will be disappointed, as even point blank shooting still utilizes an in game Dice Roll to determine whether you hit and how much damage you do etc.

It is likely that people complaining about Ammo or clunky targeting are unaware of this game mechanic, but it is what makes the game an RPG, not a Shooter. There is ample amounts of Ammo (I have never run out in 70 hours of gameplay and I have killed over 1000 living -isms according to my in game stat sheet), but it is not unlimited like a Shooter.

The VATS mode is a good way to illustrate the difference. You queue up VATS and it will give you a stop-time targeting system. Within this system, you will be given percentages to hit on various Body parts: 87% to hit the head, 95% to hit the Body etc. However, these percentages are also indicative of how much of a chance you would have to hit those body parts OUT of VATS as well. So if you have a 50% chance to hit a leg in VATS, you have that SAME chance to hit in real-time it just does not illustrate it anywhere. SO even if your targeting arrow is Red, you still only have the same percentage to hit as you would in VATS. Which is to say you will miss and waste a ton of ammo if you just think "my target is red I can unload a clip".

Dice Rolls are a staple of RPGS, Oblivion had them, it was just not as noticeable because you were using Melee weapons, but every time your guy reared back to swing it rolled the dice to see if you would hit, how much of a damaging blow it would be etc.

The game has a wide array of voice acting, some is great, some not so much. The story has its ups and downs, but is good enough to not take away from the overall (it certainly helps that the great Liam Neeson is the Vault Dweller's Father, he is an example of the Great voice acting). Various mini-quests are actually more entertaining and interesting than the main story, so there is definitely enough Good story in the game to keep it interesting.

However, the game's strength is in solo-adventuring IMO. While you can get sidekicks and helpers, the real fun is being a Hero of the Wastes and taking down Super-Mutants, Raiders, Slavers and Death Claws all by your lonesome as you scour the Wastes in search of unique weapons, caps, ammo and mini-quests littered throughout.

Overall, I would rate the game a 9/10 and consider it the only game on Xbox 360 that gives Mass Effect a challenge for best title.

Update 4 in 2013: I recently downloaded the Fallout 2 from gog. Well, I got to say that, Fallout 2 is still infinitely times better than Fallout 3, regardless the upgrade in graphics.

Maybe you would argue that this is just "Oblivion with guns", but this "Oblivion with guns" has more to offer than just "Oblivion with guns", it has a massive story (according the guide I received today, after you completed the game you got tons to do), also the SPECIAL is back! Pipboy is back, I cant help crying after I created my character and saw a whole new wasteland, which was far more detailed than the game I played 10 years ago. Maybe you would argue again, Bethesda is incapable of doing top-notch black humor like Black Isle, but the feels of exploring the wasteland is back. Here I listed a few pros and cons

Pros

+ build of the whole wasteland

+ mission design

+ user interface

+ storytelling

+ Pipboy

+ tons of things to explore

Cons

cant skip the VATS slow motion

making choices wont affect the whole game too much, unlike Fallout1 &2, you have to pay for what you ve chosen

no item description........(huge disappointment for some old fans maybe)

In general, I would recommend this game to those who love Oblivion.

Update: the system is much more similar to Fallout 2 than to Oblivion, you have skills and perks, and at each leveling up you have 10-20 skill points(depends how much Intelligence you have) to distribute into a variety of skills, then you have perks like Lady Killer or Animal Friend. The system is deep and fun since you could be an agile and slick thief or a strong and stubborn warrior based on how you distribute your points and the initial attributes(S.P.E.C.I.A.L.).

Update 2: for those of you concerning CE, I got my CE from amazon on the releasing date, and this is the nicest CE I bought this year comparing to the Fable 2 CE and GTA 4 CE. The CE package has a neat looking lunch box, you could either put it somewhere as a decoration or use it as the storage for small stuff. That Pipboy figure is a fine-maded bubblehead. There is also an artbook of 100 pages featuring the concept art in Fallout3, and a DVD of making of the fallout 3. I think the CE is totally worth the price especially now amazon is offering the $10 giftcard.

Update 3: this game is not for you if you are looking for a first-person shooter like Far Cry 2 or Call of Duty! This is a role playing game.

Honest reviews on Fallout 3 - Xbox 360

I bought this game a few days ago, hoping that I made the right choice by picking this game over Tom Clancy's End War. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that I made the right choice now. Not since Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 have I ever found a game this addicting.

The world map is beautiful and extremely detailed. From radioactive rivers, to piles of rubble and smashed up concrete, the detail in these objects is amazing.

Im the type of gamer that HAS to explore every room, and check every nook and cranny to ensure that I have every thing that the building/zone has to offer. It takes me anywhere from 1-2 hours to completely clear most buildings and kill all the enemies inside. With the hundreds of buildings in the game, you can easily spend 100+ hours playing this game on a single character. I have read the complaints about running out of ammo, its complete crap. I havent run out of ammo yet, and I have a little over 40 hours completed so far. You may run out of "condition" on your weapons, but if you have your repair skill up, that shouldnt be an issue. If you play the game smart, and pick up the most valuable items you see and dont weigh yourself down with a lot of junk, you should have plenty of "caps" to buy ammo and repairs for your weapons.

In all, I can see myself making 2 more characters easily, just to experience the game differently. The current character I have is a good guy, but I will have to make an evil guy soon just so I can see how it affects the storyline. This game is definately a good buy!

I didn't write a review for Oblivion because there were hundreds of decent enough reviews that encapsulated my experience. I saw no need to add to the "ALSO, I LIKED IT, TOO, AS WELL" crowd without any negative comments worth mentioning.

The same dealy applies to Fallout 3, yet because of the sheer size and scope of it compared to Oblivion, I can be bothered to put both positives and negatives together into a decent enough review.

For note, I have never played any of the previous Fallout games, and showed no interest in them prior to this.

Also, I'll be dropping the name "Yahtzee" a bit, referring to video game reviewer Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw and his video reviews for The Escapist magazine.

Positive:

-The world is indeed tremendous, and compared to Oblivion, which to Yahtzee was merely a square mile of English countryside multiplied again and again with wolves and bandits added, this world is simply a gaping epic story in itself to look at. Ten hours into the game, I still can't get over stopping and staring at the horizon, and knowing that This is the way Washington D.C., has looked for two hundred years! Being a historian, this trapped me in a quantam vortex of awesome and pee-pants.

-The V.A.T.S. targeting system, which has slow-motion angle shots for combat scenes. While Yahtzee mentioned that it looked "groovy pants", he also pointed out that because it's basically the same thing every time you use it, it would gradually just become "pants". For me at least, it hasn't yet become pants, after ten hours of play.

-Realistic gore! The M rating is put to use here, in the form of excessive violence. While nowhere near the sort of explicit body explosions of something like "Rambo", I never get tired of seeing a point-blank gunshot to someone's head have a chance of blowing their head up in a mess of blood, bone, and mushy meat fragments. Nor do I tire of crippling someone's arm and seeing their gun fly out of their hand, or firing at someone's limb enough times to dismember them, or to sever their head from their body by utterly destroying their neck with bullets.

-Insanely top-notch graphics for a game of this sheer size.

-Play as male or female, with dialogue options altering to fit your gender (ie, you'll get compliments as to how much you look like your mother if you're female, or how beautiful you are, or how much of a bitch you are for trying to steal from them).

-Genuinely interesting story that pans itself out gradually.

-Interactive people all around, including Ghouls who are nice to you (there's even an implied lesbian Ghoul couple who run a hotel in the Underworld)

I'm sure there's plenty more great things to be said, but I can't think of any major ones to speak of and so I'll have to move on to the bad.

Negatives:

-I can't vouch for male characters just yet, but the customizable options for females is an utter mess. Faces are disgusting lumps of blotchy, rugged, seemingly acne-scarred messes (which considering that the character isn't raised in the Wasteland, but rather in the highly clean and stable environment of Vault 101, is a curiosity), and for some odd reason, every pre-set and color option always ends up with the same result---the women have 5 o'clock shadow on their upper lip, and around their chins.

None of the other in-game women suffer from these sort of options, managing to look like actual women, whereas your character is forced to look like a pre-op transsexual without a long, long time spent into wrestling with dials and sliders which, like Oblivion, are connected to one another, making it hell to mold the flesh with one slider without every other slider moving on its own to screw up your changes.

-The game is an action/adventure RPG, but it's still an RPG, so damage both taken and delivered tends to border on the ridiculous, as in one scene I had a pistol and used the V.A.T.S. system to put three bullets into a human opponent's head, and not only did they not die, but they were still standing, and continued to beat me half to death with a baseball bat until I had to punch them to kill them dead.

-Occasional game freezes.

-The instant-transport system from Oblivion is back, which has both good and bad implications in that you can easily move back and forth from places without spending hours wandering around the ruins, but it's done without any consequence to time or health or fatigue anything in between, so you can just teleport from place to place as much as you want as quickly as your game will load.

-As Yahtzee mentioned as the biggest problem with Oblivion's immersion failure, there is a limited number of voice actors for the Ghouls. I can thankfully say that unlike Oblivion, not everyone has the same two voice actors, but with the Ghouls in particular, there are quite literally only two voice actors, one male and one female, and they don't even bother changing up their voices when playing the Ghouls. As such, every Ghoul you speak to of a certain gender will sound exactly like one another.

-There are some audio tapes/files in the "Notes" section of your Pip-Boy (such as your father's personal diary entries and such) which are almost completely inaudible due to the low sound mixed with the poor recording quality. It's only by sheer luck, determination, strain, and high volume, that I've managed to understand half of what is said in these diary entries.
