I am a huge fan of the Silent hill games..So when the HD collection came out I couldn't wait to get it since I never had the 3rd Silent hill game for my collection..Sadly When I got the game and started to play it there where so many problems with the sound and how glitchy the game play is I stopped playing it.Konami said that they would be releasing patches to fix these problems,So I have been waiting for the patch to be released to be able to play the game without all the issues.

Konami released the patch for the PS3 about a month ago and we where told that the 360 patch would be out in a few more weeks, well now Konami has said there will be no patch for the Xbox 360..I had emailed Konami and this is the response I got.

"Dear Konami Customer,

Thank you for contacting Konami Customer Support about this issue. We understand your frustrations at having waited so long for an announcement regarding the patch for the XBOX 360 version of Silent Hill HD Collection. Unfortunately we are unable to patch the game. We apologize for the inconvenience. But unfortunately due to technical constraints we simply will be unable to patch the XBOX 360 version."

So basically I paid $50.00 for a glitchy game where the sound doesn't even work all the time..Yes I love the Silent hill games but this was a waste of money.

Don't buy the Xbox 360 version,if at all possible buy the PS3 version or avoid buying at all...

Do Not buy this game. Konami has announced that they will not release a patch to the xbox 360 version. They acknowledge that this game is broken but they refuse to release a patch due to technical issues and resources. if you want the best Silent Hill experience i'd recommend the original xbox versions of Silent Hill 2 and the playstation 2 version of 3. they look pretty much the same if not better and they won't screw up as much as this broken POS.

So first off I'm not an Xbox fanboy. I have both systems and buy games on both equally. The reason I am telling you to buy this from 360 if you can is that the glitches everyone is complaining about in the PS3 reviews are not on the 360 version. We'll they are and aren't. The only glitch I noticed comes at the end of the game where sometimes the old voices aren't synced correctly. Its a very minor issue and only happens at the ending of SH2. (Not sure about SH3 I haven't finished it yet).

Thats basically all I wanted to tell people considering playing this game. There is no real point to review the game itself since its been out for 10 years and reviews are all over the internet.

I personaly bought the 360 version and my buddy bought and brought over the PS3 version so we could play at the same time on my two consoles. All the negative comments in the PS3 reviews are true. Movement issues, Frame Rate issues, and the voice syncing is out way more in the PS3 version.

Again, I'm not a fan boy I just wanted to make sure people don't forgoe this collection thinkings its a bad port on both system. I'm sure PS3 will eventualy release a patch but as of right now 360's is the way to go.

"Unfortunately, Konami will no longer be bringing the patch to the Xbox 360. The company cited "technical issues and resources" as reasons for its change of plans.

Speaking about the Xbox 360 patch cancellation, Konami said that it "apologizes to any players who are continuing to experience these issues".

The patch fixes a couple of important issues relating to the collection's frame rate and audio-synching. "

So basically its a $50 broken ass game ! AVOID !

This game was buggy when it was first released to the point where the PS2 versions are greatly superior. The PS3 version was patched to a point where it's allegedly up to snuff (not sure, I've never played it) but the 360 version is unpatched and Konami has said that they have no intentions of fixing it. Konami knows it's broken, has no intention of fixing it, and wants you to pay 40 dollars for it. I was really looking forward to this collection, I'm so disappointed.

check your brain, sense of reality, and expectations at the door. bayonetta is something else.

it's ridiculous, knows its ridiculous, and completely revels in it. from her exaggerated sexy catwalk gait, to the way she kisses barriers away, to the fanservice 'photo op' moments at the end of certain combos, to the way her clothes disappear as you pull off a powerful combo (because her hair not only forms her clothes, but also her most powerful weapons, *of course* they'd get used up when she does something powerful), to the nonsensical plot and cast of characters, to the over the top violent eviscerations...bayonetta is a real gamer's delight...if you have the right mindset. i personally couldn't stop grinning and laughing through the game.

+ everything about this game screams quality (one might argue the script is 2nd grader-quality, but i'd argue it was intentionally so).

+ massive amounts of combos so novices can't help but pull off cool stuff, but also tons of depth so the gamers that want to be *great* can be. there are some tricky combos that can be strung together that are insanely cool see youtube.

+ not quite as hard as the devil may cry series or ninja gaiden...a bit more approachable, if you can handle the chaos on screen.

+ NOT FOR KIDS. seriously. cussing, partial/implied nudity, violence.

+ hilarious soundtrack. from jazzy-j-pop to orchestral, very unique.

quick tips

don't spam the dodge button. you're doing it wrong. just like radiant silvergun or bullet-dodgers of the past, you have to focus on where your character is and who's about to hit you. THEN press the dodge button.

don't button mash. learn the combos, especially the immediate wicked weave ones (e.g. heel stomp). if you can summon those on cue, you won't have as much trouble fighting the flaming enemies (they hurt you if you hit them directly)

you don't have to finish the game to grind. pressing RB at chapter end lets you re-play any previous chapters. chapter 2 is great for grinding halos early on.

Imagine Devil May Cry 4 or Ninja Gaiden 2 if the main character was a gun-toting, sword wielding, black magic using, stripper-witch. If that sounds like a good time, then you should love this game.

Story: 6/10

The weakest part of Bayonetta is the convoluted story. It tells an epic 500 year long tale about the Umbra Witches, the Lumen Sages, Heaven, Hell, Earth, and magic jewels called the Eyes of the World. There's enough story here for a Bioware RPG, downloadable content, and a costly expansion. Unfortunately, there are only six main characters and it feels like there are three too many. Basically, the gods are control freaks and Bayonetta tries to save the world by battling angelic warriors. What saves the story is that Bayonetta doesn't really take anything seriously, she just cracks jokes, struts around like a fashion model, pole dances, and kills things by the hundreds. Although the entire universe is in danger, Bayonetta still manages to have fun the entire time. In one scene, the main characters are in a plane that is about to crash. A dramatic sound effect plays, "Dun Dun" and they zoom in on Luka, who looks terrified. "Dun Dun" and they zoom in on a little girl, clinging desperately to her stuffed animal. "Dun Dun" they zoom in on Bayonetta's cleavage! But, if the lack of story bothers you, you'd be the kind of person who'd bring a book to a strip club and complain that it's too dark to read.

Characters: 9/10

Bayonetta, Jeanne, and Cereza are great, others are forgettable.

Bayonetta is an instant videogame icon. She's beautiful, powerful, sexy, intelligent, fun, and extremely entertaining. Clad in an outfit made of gold chains and magical hair, she looks and moves like a stripper. Her hair is the source of her power; as she performs long combination attacks or powerful magic spells, her hair disappears from her outfit and attacks the enemies, leaving her wearing next to nothing. After she completes these attacks, her outfit rematerializes. Her accessories are great, from her black cat earrings, her butterfly glasses, and her high heels made of magical automatic weapons that never run out of bullets. Bayonetta's primary attacks involve acrobatics, guns, martial arts, magic, and bladed weapons. She can acrobatically jump 30 feet into the air, perform a 20 hit sword combo, and shoot 10 enemies with the guns on her feet before she lands. If that's not enough, Bayonetta also shapeshifts into a flock of ravens or a black panther complete with blood red nail polish. Her dialogue and voice acting are outstanding. Everything about her screams the perfect hostess for a good time.

Jeanne is a rival witch who appears in the game as an ally and a boss character. She shares many of the same attributes as Bayonetta.

Cereza is THE CUTEST little girl to every appear in a game... EVER!

The rest of the characters provide some comic relief and are a mixed bag.

Gameplay: 10/10

Bayonetta's gameplay is amazing! Because she attacks with her hands, feet, magic hair, swords, blades, gun heels, spells, etc... She has the most potential to be the deadliest video game character of all time. She's up there with Kratos from God of War.

The game relies on a combo system based on pressing the hand, foot, jump, and shoot buttons. Anyone can easily pull off impressive looking 20 hit combos. Many of the combos can be linked together to perform 40 or 60 hit combos if you have some skill. There is no block, just an evade button. If you evade just before an attack hits you, the game slows down for a few seconds, allowing you to counterattack enemies. Bayonetta's enemies are ruthless and complement her attack styles. Most action games have cookie-cutter throwaway enemies that perform simple attacks. You can tell, that a lot of effort was made to suit the enemies to Bayonetta's fighting style from the minions to the gigantic bosses. This results in GREAT FUN!

You can upgrade Bayonetta with more weapons, spells, items, attacks, etc... There are enough upgrades in the game to warrant three playthroughs if you want to collect `em all.

When some enemies are killed, Bayonetta can wield their weapons as well. Polearms, massive swords, bows, axes, demonic claws, etc...

As you play through the levels, you collect potion components, and halos that you can use to create or buy items. There are temporary power ups, like health, limited invincibility, magic, improved damage, that come in the form of suckers... because Bayonetta likes to suck on things. It sure beats the typical "stepping on a first aid kit" that old shooters used to have. You can also buy items that boost Bayonetta's Max Health, or Max Magic. So, if part of the game is too difficult, you are free to replay an easier level and "farm it" for halos. Bayonetta can also buy more outfits, weapons, spells, attack moves, etc...

Level Designs: 9/10

The levels are amazing set pieces to showcase the action. There are destructible areas, hidden spell components, halos, power-ups... The art style is similar to Devil May Cry. The levels are linear and it's almost impossible to get lost. Aside from the action levels, there are also, driving, shooting, and flying levels as well. At the end of each level, you get a grade and a bonus based on your time, combo points, and damage that you took. You're free to replay levels if you want to get a better award.

Bayonetta can also "Witch Walk." This allows her to run on walls and ceilings, which makes some of the levels even more dynamic and over the top. In one level, a city floods with lava and you run on the sides of buildings while performing acrobatics and fighting angels.

Reward Systems: 8/10

Bayonetta's rewards are great, but this system would have worked much better in an open ended game like GTA, Red Faction, Fallout 3... At times, you may want to farm levels to collect money for an upgrade. This really encourages you to break the game's story continuity and replay levels while skipping cutscenes. It's a minor gripe because the upgrades and reward systems are very well done.

Replay Value: 7/10

If you like action games, the combat system, weapons, and reward system are good enough to play over and over and over. Playing through on Normal Mode is just short of 10 hours. Bayonetta's combat system is so deep, it warrants 18 levels and 5 difficulty settings. You can keep playing to unlock new weapons, techniques, outfits, and compete on the Xbox Live Leaderboards.

Sound: 8/10

Some of the music tracks are epic and fun, while a few others don't quite fit. Most of the voice acting is great! The explosions, demonic sounds, gunfire, collapsing buildings... all punctuate the action.

Maturity: M

The game is sexy and suggestive, but there aren't any sex scenes. Instead the game is playful and fun. There are loads of gore and some harsh language. This is for late teens and adults.

Overall: 9.5/10

Bayonetta's character design, combat system, and determination to make the player have a great time, make it a strong contender for Action Game of the Year. It's one of the most entertaining games beat-em up games that I've ever played.

Buy this game if you like great action games like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, or God of War.

Rent it if you have 10-12 hours, love AAA Action Titles, and have commitment issues.

Avoid it if you hate fun.

Best Deals for Bayonetta - Xbox 360

Though I consider 2011 technically the start of the new decade, Bayonetta along with Darksiders has been branded the first games of the new decade, the rip-roaring start to what should be a fantastic year yet an unbelievably crowded first 4 months of 2010. Bayonetta, developed by Platinum Games who worked on Viewtiful Joe and Okami, have basically made what people want to describe as the "action genre evolved", the new standards to which the next Devil May Cry or God of War have to live up to. While there's definately some moments that I can legitimately say no game has ever done for, there's other parts where I lament its inclusion or wish something was tweaked so it wasn't a certain way. Essentially the game, unless you're an action-game master, might be a tad too difficult for people with nimble reflexes, good understanding of the combat and some rare instances of almost needing clairvoyance to avoid the "where'd that come from?" deaths. For in Bayonetta you have one of the most fluid battle systems to be in a game, you also have trial-by-death moments, a tonally-off storyline and parts that don't give the game any favors. Least we'll get one hell of a sequel though. Possibly.

Story: You play as Bayonetta, an Umbran Witch part of a clan that's more or less on the "bad side" which wars against the forces of Heaven, or the Lumen Sages. Having been re-awakened after 500 years of being sealed away with no memory, Bayonetta embarks on a quest to discover her past, her connection to a little girl named Cereza and artifacts known as the "Eyes of the World". The problem with the game as a whole as far as its story is concerned is that its hard to tell when the game is taking itself seriously and when it's poking fun so the game is either really serious with slapstick thrown in or satire/comedy with odd pathos moments mixed in. Not to mention for some people it might be hard to follow and outside of Bayonetta herself, the characters aren't incredibly likable but like Devil May Cry, story is just an aside to the action.

Graphics: Graphically, the game isn't quite a "holy ****!"-esque stunner but the game is very-well animated with the character animations for moves, certain levels such as Paradiso levels looking flat-out gorgeous while enemy designs, especially bosses, are imposing, weird and screen filling. In fact there's one boss in the game that practically eclipses the final boss of Shadow of the Colossus and that guy was a tower. But then the game does do this weird stylistic thing where cutscenes play out more like animated comic strips with no lip-sync but just a character pose and lines of dialogue which jets around to another frame to present another look at the cutscene. It'll either be cool or just...weird.

Sound/Music: Another oddball soundtrack which combines jazz and epic orchestral themes and part of it just doesn't work. While we're a long ways to the awful metal track that permeated through Devil May Cry, at times you'll hear a nicely done orchestral theme and then you run right smack into a jazzy theme and yes, even a J-pop song and unlike some games which usually one J-pop theme with the main type of music throughout, it goes back and forth so much and the music itself might not seem that memorable either. Voice acting also is somewhat stilted and while Bayonetta and the character Jeanne are nicely done, everyone else is kind of ridiculous and the mastermind behind the whole ordeal is so droll in his voice and thanks to a long cutscene, you might be in a snooze before you realize you gotta fight the dude.

Gameplay: Bayonetta is similar to Devil May Cry's battle system where a certain command is used to start a move as opposed to say Ninja Gaiden or God of War which was a combination of X/Square and Y/Triangle but here, there's things like "tap forward twice and Y" or "rotate left analog and B" but what makes Bayonetta work as an action game is just how well it works and God of War 3 does have its work cut out for it because I'll be honest with you, I button mash God of War yet I learn Bayonetta/Devil May Cry systems. One especially useful tactic is Witch Time where if you press RT when you're about to get hit you activate a bullet time for a few seconds which allows you unfettered access to wail on enemies without fear of being attacked though strangely as you progress in the game certain enemies aren't even affected by Witch Time and you just dodge the move regularly. In addition, Bayonetta has guns and unlike DMC's candy shooting pistols, they're nicely useful here and with guns strapped to her feet and held in her hands, that's 4 guns to use on enemies and it's fun to "breakdance" and just spin around on the floor and shoot everything in sight. And you can also buy abilities that'll change you into different forms such as the Panther (a fast runner and quick getaway in battle), Crow (a flight-based attacker that flies for a bit) and Bat (click RT when you've just gotten damaged and you turn into a bat, negating that damage though I can never get the timing down). All in all, there's a huge arsenal of moves to use and with a loading screen acting as a training ground with move lists ready to be read and used, it's fairly easy to pick.

That being said, Japanese game developers, especially when it comes to action games tend to be, well, a lot more better than the average player and at times it feels like that's how the game was made, a game for experts. Granted there is an easy and very easy mode but for most people, Normal tends to be the default and when you're getting your ass handed to you regularly in normal encounters, bosses that are very cool and inventive but some take way too long (final boss for sure) or quicktime events that come out of nowhere, it might frustrate a few new players and I've beaten Ninja Gaiden 2 on Mentor (well, Sigma 2 I should say, NG2's a mess) and even I was having problems though I suppose practice will make perfect. However, that doesn't excuse certain sections of the game that quite frankly don't work, the out-of-the-blue Quicktime events or the astronomically high prices of the accessories which practically encourage farming or replaying to the Nth degree. Some might enjoy it but I like it when I can afford everything reasonably, not replay a mission 12 times to afford one thing only to find out there's 10 things I gotta purchase.

Bayonetta is certainly a better feeling action game all-around though certain issues I have with it will most likely be corrected if they ever do a sequel but as a first game, this thing is top-notch but to avoid mentioning certain problems it has I think would be a mistake but give it a try, it'll either be the best action game all year or one of the better ones that could've been the best.

Honest reviews on Bayonetta - Xbox 360

Bayonetta has a truly Japanese, odd plot. Angels with baby faces, portals to hell and overly tall sexual witches. I dunno. But despite that, the game is a lot of fun.

The story is straightforward walking into the next area fighting minions followed by a boss. There are many homages to Sega's other games including of course Devil May Cry and Sonic. I consider it a button masher, since who the heck actually remembers all 100 combos? You can buy new weapons and moves and of course heal yourself with lollipops. You can also construct your own lollipops but the menu is so un-intuitive and took me several tries to figure out what needed to be done. It's highly unnecessary--you should just be able to find them.

My main gripe with this game is their difficulty system. Despite it's female character and hyperfeminine graphics/names/moves/music it is a game geared toward men (proven by all the males shouting "YEAAH!" when she spreads her legs to take out an enemy). They have difficulties of Very Easy, Easy, and Normal. Normal is actually harder than it should be and Easy is probably too easy (since they increase your health and angels attack less). I'm no pro gamer, so halfway through the game, Normal became too hard for bosses. I switched to easy, and even though every male that played died at least 20x on normal NO ONE could bare to switch to easy. If easy was normal and normal was hard, there would be no problem. I guess it's a challenge of your manhood. I beat the game, but it was too easy on easy. They definitely need an in between.

All in all a lot of fun to mess around with the moves. One of the most fun games I've played this year.

I picked up this game being a fan of the 'Devil May Cry series'. The action is very over the top, and overall plot/dialogue can't be taken too seriously. But the gameplay/cinematics will make up for the overall campy stroy arc.

The plot seems to be very simular to the comic/movie 'Constintine'. An eternal war between paradise and the inferno, the main characters stand between both factions to keep the lines balanced. I'm still very early in the game, but it seems to be stacking cliche plot twists I'm anticipating any moment now. But this really isn't the type of game played for the story-arch.

The gameplay is terribly simular to Devil May Cry, Devil Kings, etc. It is a third person action shooter, with a fairly simple control/fighting scheme. You can string together combos with standard punch, kick, and firearms. Weapons and fighting abilities can be purchased to add more variety in your combos. An amazing feature when aquiring upgrade items is the opportunity to try the attacks before actually purchasing them. It can be frustrating trading in game credits just for an item or weapon you soon realize "yup, I'm never using that." Accomplishing long strings of combos enables more devistating ranged attacks or cinematic "executions". Like holding an enemy while a guilituine or iron maiden appears and you throwing it into the device.

Now the drawbacks. Between stringing attacks and dodging enemies, the rhythm is very fast paced but easy to learn after the opening stages. Even with good timing, the majority of the gameplay can also be accomplished through button mashing, especially fighting standard enemies from one end of the level to the other. It can become VERY repetitive, even with new finishing movies and abilities unlocked. Because of this, you will see the same cinematics over and over again. Because of this most people will either love or hate the game. The gameplay is linear, there is no sandbox enviroment to wander around in. I think games like this are much more entertaining without the free roaming. Not everything has to entitle a GTA like wandering enviroment, but some people have accepted it as some sort of standard. Campaign mode and nothing else. I don't see what else can really be done with a game like this, but the only bonus outside of the story is online leaderboards.

Overall, if you like 3rd person action platformers, this game is definately worth checking out. Be warned, it is repetitive, but the gameplay seems well worth it. It should also be noted that the violence and overt sexual themes are endless. If by chance you're a concerned parent or offended by either, be warned this game never quits with either.

Pros:

Great action

infinate combo strings between weapons/ability upgrades

"Equilibrium" style gunplay

entertaining fight climax/cinematics

looks gorgeous in HD

mindless entertainment is easy and fun

Cons:

REPETITIVE and overall button masher

campaign, leaderboards, and nothing else

cheesy story/bad dialogue all around

mindless entertainment could get old fast

There are not many places I have found an item like this and I was not sure before I purchased if this was made well or would fit correctly. The item arrived in a plastic pouch with no instructions. But that is not an issue as it was pretty easy to figure out. The cutouts fit perfectly and I am really pleased with the design, fit and purchase.

Back Story:

I have had a lot of headphones over the years and the majority of them have been utter crap. I had one really good pair of headphones that were made by Sony back in the 1980s and I used them so much I broke both sides and had to tape them together to make them work. The sound was so good that I would have rather kept those beat up headphones than be forced to use the 2 or 3 pairs I bought after them. I was sad when I finally just had to throw them away and accept that it might be a while before I lucked out and got something that good. (It's taken a long time).

Fast forward to the late 1990s and early 2000s. I have gone through another 2 or 3 headsets. I had a Sony that was decent, but not nearly as good as my original Sony back in the day. I then went through Logitech, Microsoft (totally AWFUL) sound and some other headset that I threw away because it was crap. I even checked out Bose and was really underwhelmed by the sound. My definition of good sound is crisp clear highs, warm mids and booming bases. Not excessive, but enough to feel like it could be live.

Finally, I saw a $79 Plantronic "Gaming" set at Best Buy about 4 years ago and bought it. The sound was great, or at least a LOT better than I have had in a long time. But there were some quirks to the headset that annoyed me. The Microphone would flop down into position, so the only way to keep it up was with a rubber band. The voice input was sketchy and the device had problems working properly with Windows 7. Nevertheless it was a good enough headset that I decided I was going to give plantronics another shot with my new computer because I wanted a headset that addressed the annoying issues of my previous Plantronics.

Plantronics GameCom 780:

When I set up the GameCom 780 and fired up SWTOR to fly a few space battles (in 7.1 surround) my jaw nearly fell on the floor. The explosions are so lifelike you can almost feel them sitting in your chair. The sound is whole orders of magnitude better then my last Plantronics headset, and the directionality is dramatic. I actually had to relearn a few of my space battle moves because the audio cues were so noticably different that they were a distraction at first, but within about 10 minutes I really appreciated how much these headphones added a new dimension to my favorite game. Just to have something to compare to, I fired up Crysis 2, and I was equally impressed. The punch and clinks of a rapidly firing Scarab assault rifle were like music to my ears. The ambiance was a lot better and with the DX11 high resolution graphics, it's a whole new experience.

To say the sound is pretty good is, in my opinion, a massive understatement. The sound is the best I have ever owned. These headphones actually have 3 modes: Straight Dolby, 5.1 and 7.1 surround. Each of them sound great, but for games I find myself sticking heavily with the 7.1. Just to test out the music capabilities of this headset, I threw on some songs from "The English Patient" that I had backed up for my mom. I put on a song that was just a single woman singing backed up by light orchestra and again I was blown away. The richness, clarity and warmth of these headphones, along with the silence being exactly where it needs to be... it's not even so much what you hear, it's how you hear it and even what you don't hear.

Anyway, the sound alone would be reason enough to get these headphones, but there is more.

The construction is very good for an $80 pair of headphones. I have yet to see how long the plastic cylinders that house the metal adjustment bars lasts, but it looks pretty strong. The headphones are a bit tight at first, but after some adjustments I found they fit quite well. The over the ear design is really what I want in a pair of headphones because it frees up the ear to head the sound properly. The adjustment bars are metal (something you don't see much of these days). The upper rim is heavy duty plastic, but there is a soft foam under cushion that gives a very nice set on the head. The earmuffs are made from material instead of a more durable kind of material, but they will probably still last years, and they are comfortable.

Where these headphones really shine are the on ear controls. You can switch from surround sound to regular with a touch of a button. The audio control, rather than being just a knob is more like a control you would find in your car. Push one way, the sound goes down, push another the sound goes up. Moreover each time to press the button one direction or the other, the headphones actually play 2 different tones to let you know if you are going up or down in volume and when you have reached either end of the spectrum. You can also adjust the mic on/off switch with a button right above the volume wheel. These touches seem cosmetic at first, but you quickly begin to wonder how you ever lived without them.

The mic is another marked improvement from previous incarnations of Plantronics headsets (like my old one). The mic has enough tension on it to neatly stay tucked up and out of the way when not in use. Also, it doesn't have an "in front of mouth" design, and frankly from what I can see, it doesn't need one. The mic is good, and I was able to talk into Ventrilo without much adjustment at all. The "middle" volume and default application settings actually WORK like they are supposed to. I was able to get a very clean voice recording using a quiet voice.

The software that comes with the GameCom 780 seems to be perfectly Windows 7 x64 compatible, but it took me a few minutes to find the controls. There is an entry for the headset in Control Panel, but the actual controls for the headset are actually under "Configure" and "Properties" in the "Sound" options of control panel. There are a few ways to tweak these headphones to compensate for room noise and acoustics, which is a nice touch. It would have been nice to see an actual graphic equalizer to come with such a capable pair of headphones, but that's a minor gripe. I am not sure if any equalization setting would be better than the defaults.

One final note regarding Windows 7 compatibility: Windows 7 may gripe if you try and hook these up to a USB splitter. Windows will tell you that you don't have enough power for the headphones, but since they work fine under OS X with the same configuration, either Windows is being picky or it might not be a good idea to daisy chain these things. I ended up putting these headphones into a POWERED USB hub and they work beautifully. So, if you have a lot of connections either A) make sure you have an adequate power supply for your system that puts full power to your USB ports or B) Buy a POWERED USB hub. It's WORTH it.

Bottom line? I would absolutely recommend these headphones to anyone willing to spend $80 and have a decent USB connection.

If these break 6 months from now, I will buy them again. Period.

I hope this review gets to as many people as people. First I'd like to begin by saying something very important.

PLEASE READ IF BUYING THIS HEADSET:

Make sure to go down to the 'Speaker' icon in the taskbar and right-click it. Click playback devices find the 'Speakers: Gamecom 780' entry, and right-click again. Then click 'Configure Speakers' and navigate down to 7.1 surround. Keep clicking Test and then the Next buttons until it says that 7.1 surround is set up. If you do not do this even if you enable Dolby Surround in the headset's software you'll only be getting 5.1 virtual surround, instead of 7.1. It does make a difference, and is considerably better. I wish it explained this more in the documentation. Also note if you switch to stereo mode it still is normal stereo, this changing in the options menu doesn't screw up the stereo option at all.

Now on to the review:

First off, this headset in pictures looks a bit silly with the orangish red cables and what-not, but let me tell you it actually is very pleasing to the eyes in person! It looks a lot cooler than my old Razer Carcharias, which was just a lame black everywhere. Not only does it look better than the Razer Carcharias, but it feels a lot better too. Weighing a little bit more than the Razer's it just simply feels like it is constructed out of better material. It's a lot sturdier. The only 'complaint' about the durability here is the earpads kind of spin tough at first, but personally I kind of like that because if they were super loose it would be spinning when you don't want it to.

On to the sound...

I read literally every single review here on Amazon before ordering, and let me tell you, they aren't kidding about the sound. It literally blew me away. Sure it's just a headset and there's only so good you can get with an earpad on each ear with a speaker in each, but this is SUCH AN UPGRADE from the Razer Carcharias which is actually more expensive. It's so good that I will definitely be buying a Plantronics headset when this one becomes obsolete. Even in stereo mode (button on earpad not lit blue), it still sounds amazing and better than the Razer's. It has crystal clear highs, clear and smooth mids, and a decent amount of bass. Sure the bass could be a little more, but it's a headset for goodness sakes and for bass in music I have my car with two 12" subs to hear the bass, in headphones I just want balanced audio and that's what this headset delivers. Don't think there isn't any bass though, you can definitely feel the bass and explosions and what-not, it's not non-existent by any means. In fact, it does have a lot more lower-end than my Razer's.

The mic is also crystal clear. It's so clear that I actually had to turn down my outbound because it was making me sound booming. The only complaint I have with the mic is that it picks up background noise a bit too well, but it's not the end of the world, I'd rather have it do that and be a clear good sounding mic than be super cancelling and sound subpar. So this is another plus, at least for me.

Overall for $60-70 this is an absolutely amazing headset. Especially for gaming! The software could have included a bit more, but what it does include is still perfectly fine.

The sound is great, the comfort is great, and it doesn't look bad either! The only gripe I have is the cord is a bit short, but it's not the end of the world I'll just buy a USB extender.

If you're contemplating buying a new headset, look no further. For more money you can get the Razer Carcharias which is only a stereo headset, and even the stereo functionality on the Gamecom 780 sounds better than the Razer, let alone the fabulous virtual 7.1 surround sound that is has. It doesn't sound fake like some cheap surround sound headsets, but obviously it's not true surround sound. Still, it sounds fantastic.

If you don't want to spend $150-200+ for a headset, than look no further. This is perfect for music, gaming, and even movies. It brought a new life to my music, despite some of the reviews here! Seriously, just buy this headset. I love it, and have become a fan of Plantronics having never bought their products before. 5 stars for sure, as opposed to my old 4 star Razer's. What an upgrade.

So when I got these headphones, I had been using earbuds and the microphone built into my laptop. As you might imagine, the sound quality was poor and the people I spoke to on Skype complained about the microphone. Then I upgraded to THESE things, and the audio was amazing, and the folks on Skype said I was coming through crystal clear. So everything was hunky dory, right? Nope.

One day I put these things on and SNAP. The connection between the left earcup and the headband--right on that curved area above the cylinder-looking thingy--suddenly snapped. Well, it didn't come off, but a rather large fracture appeared there and it coming off completely can't have been far behind. I looked on the other side of the headphones and saw stress lines on the plastic, so that side was well on its way to snapping off as well. Wow. Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe it.

Okay. Headphone manufacturers. Listen to me. No matter how much you might want to, you can't skimp on build quality, okay? You can use plastic, that's not the problem. But it has to be durable plastic, and not too thin. It can't put too much stress on the wrong locations. And you especially can't say to yourselves, "Well, if it breaks the customer will just buy another." NO. That's not what the customer will do. Your customer will return your product to the store AND you will lose his trust. Being cheap costs you MORE money, not less!

Honest reviews on Plantronics GameCom 780 Surround Sound Stereo PC Gaming Headset

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have been a big fan of headphone audio and do a lot of my listening through a Headroom DAC and headphone amplifier coupled with AKG 701s (open) or beyerdynamic 770s (sealed). I also play some multiplayer games online through Steam, especially Team Fortress 2. Oddly enough, I never had a gaming headset. I used my headphone amplifier for audio and used the microphone on a webcam for voice. While the audio was great through the USB DAC, the voice solution left a lot to be desired.

So I jumped at the chance to try out a dedicated gaming headset. This Plantronics set acquits itself nicely.

I downloaded the headset's management software from the Plantronics website. (Seriously, who installs drivers from CDs included with products anymore? They're always stale! Get the latest version from the website.) It installed without a hitch. When I then plugged in the USB cable, Windows 7 detected the headset and loaded up the drivers. The Plantronics software is incredibly simple and allows you to toggle the Dolby surround mode on and off as well as offering a selection of a music or gaming/movie profile. You can access it in the system tray on the lower right or via the control panel's audio device menu, where it adds a GameCom icon.

I tried streaming some music through them from MediaMonkey, the audio software I use. It allows you to stream USB audio without involving the kernal mixer in Windows. I ran some lossless files through them. These are adequate for music in a pinch. It isn't really fair to compare them to the AKGs or beyerdynamics, and they don't come close. They are sealed headphones, so you don't get sound leakage (something that your spouse or roommate might appreciate); however, they do suffer from the typical acoustic problems many sealed headphones have. They're a bit chesty and boomy for music.

But, wow, they're nice for gaming. With the Dolby surround switched on, I played some TF2 and Terraria. The audio is great for gaming. There's good detail retrieval, and the simulated surround actually seems to work well.

The microphone works well, too. No problems getting it set up in Steam for voice chat or in TF2. People can hear me clearly now. That's a huge plus.

The construction of the headset is decent. It's not quite as solid as the beyerdynamics, but it doesn't feel cheap either. The earcups are padded with a velvety fabric covering the foam donuts. The headband also is padded. I was able to wear them for a few hours without feeling discomfort.

The controls on the headset are useful. The left earcup has a volume control, a mic on/off switch, and a switch that will toggle the Dolby effect. That last switch glows blue. The volume control beeps when you nudge it up or down, which is helpful because you can get a sense of where the volume is set before an explosion in-game blows your eardrums out.

In all, this is a solid product. It looks decent and doesn't have all the hype graphics and extraneous endorsements that some competing products have. It really is a form-follows-function headset.

I'm glad to have had the chance to use and review it. Given how well the microphone works, I'll probably check out their Bluetooth earpieces if I ever decide to get one of those.

Recommended as a great value at the price point.

The Plantronics GameCon 780 was received quickly and well-packaged. I had originally purchased it for gaming I do on on the PC some evenings to replace a headset not designed for such things. Though I did plenty of research and read many reviews, I finally settled this one. After a few weeks of using it, I'm ready to help others make a decision.

PROS:

Amazing -and I mean itbass & sound

Accessible physical controls on the headset

Flip up microphone

Good quality recording

Excellent noise drowning

CONS:

Controls are too easy to hit & change

USB cord should be a little longer

Prolonged wear causes discomfort on the sides of the head

OVERALL OPINION:

The pros, especially that amazing sound, outweigh the cons. As of this writing the GameCon 780 from Plantronics has a 4.5 star review on Amazon. I feel that is entirely appropriate and I plan on buying my girl one of these.

Now, for the detailed explanations if you're still interested in the headset:

FIRST IMPRESSION

Arrived on time and well packaged. First thing I noticed is that this headset has some heft to it, which could be a concern to some. Additionally, it's pretty solidly built. Like most, I appreciate a product that just feels durable and strong. The USB cord is a decent length. Like I do with most things, I plugged in the USB cord just to see how Windows 7 would react. It installed it in seconds without the need for the accompanying software, but I highly recommend installing it anyway.

EAR CUPS

The ear cups are something most people are concerned with, especially when it comes to the type meant to drown out at any peripheral noise. These should easily fit all but the biggest of ears out there and do a great job of keeping the sound you want in and outside noise out.

SOUND

You wouldn't believe it unless you tried it. Honestly fantastic sound comes out of this. Strong bass, great surround sound and clearer sounds than I've heard out of almost any headset. I was suddenly hearing noises in games I wasn't previously aware of and my situational awareness during shooters went way up. During some movies or online streaming media I did have to disable to the surround sound as it gave a tinny & almost echoing effect (you disable surround sound by simply hitting a button on the headset), but generally Plantronics did a great job. Music was as clear as I think it can get on anything.

MICROPHONE

For most uses, the microphone is great. The quality was a marked improvement from my previous headset's mic. Plus, it folds up & out of the way, is bendable and is the perfect length to position it easily. It does pick up a little ambient background noise, but no buzzing or static.

SOFTWARE & CONTROLS

The physical controls are placed entirely on the left ear cup (where the microphone is) which is awesome...and not so much. The mute is hard to toggle which is good to avoid doing it accidentally but bad if you'd like to do it quickly and without taking the headset off. The surround sound button lights up when on and isn't visible while wearing them, but is easy to accidentally hit. The volume control is the worst part; it's a half-wheel that you push up or down. You will hit this when moving the mic, picking up or setting down the headphones and it's very sensitive.

The software was extremely simply to install, uses nearly no system resources, and

primarily exists to change gaming/movie to music modes.

LONG-TERM WEAR

Comfort is a big thing for gamers. You don't want to know you're even wearing a headset. For the audio portion, that is the case. However, these do have a little heft to them. Additionally, I have an average-sized head for a man, and prolonged use causes a slight squeezed feeling especially around the ears. You will not be able to do much about this as trying to flex the headset to relax the pressure could cause it to crack at the bases of the headband.

AMENITIES:

The "built-in spin joints" that let the "earpods lay flat for easy storage" are more or less useless for that purpose. The headset is big so good luck throwing that in your drawer without worry. That being said, the feature does make the headset adjust a little easier to your head shape.

Review of Mad Catz MC2 Racing Wheel and Pedals Set

Mad Catz MC2 Racing Wheel and Pedals Set

I have long searched and I mean LONG searched for a good racing wheel and this is it. I have personally tried out almost every wheel and pedals on this site and this one is far superior to all. It has sensitivity tuning so you can customize it to your own needs and has easy button remapping at the press of a button. Some people who own this product refuse to spend the 5 minutes needed to read the simple instructions and correctly tune it for each game. It now even comes with instructions specifically on how to set it for Gran Turismo 3 on the PS2, one of the best racing games ever. Many things make this a great buy:

First of all, it has digital and analog modes, so it can be used on almost any game, playstation or playstation 2, despite what this site says.

It can be fully callibrated for sensitivity and dead-band.

It has suction cups for hard surfaces and retractable leg supports for comfortable lap placement.

It has all of the standard playstation buttons, plus a very nice shifter and two-way butterfly buttons mounted on the back of the wheel, which are great for Formula One shifting.

On the main body there is an LCD guage that measures accelorator throttle. (very cool)

The pedals have rubber pads that keep them in place during the most abusive acceleration, though it is little needed because of the vertical vector pedal collumns that change the center of gravity to keep it in place. There is a foot rest on the side for when you are not braking and the pedals have grip textures to keep your feet from unwantedly sliding off.

Everything is very durrable and can widstand lots of abuse unless you are bent on braking shifter with unnesisarily hard shifting habbits, though trust me, I have only heard of one braking and everyone else seems quite happy.

The pedal connection is USB.

Very comfortable grip.

Even though this is the best wheel I have ever used, it is still not perfect. The wheel is a little to small, and does not go around as far as I would like, though it makes turning a little easier. Sometimes when you set the shifter it also remaps the up or down d-pad buttons, but they are not used during raceing and can be easily set right when needed. Some people complain that the leg-wells are to close together, but it is more snug than tight and does not hinder lower leg movement, so there is no difference in use of the pedals. As I have said, this is the best wheel and pedals I have ever used other than that of my own car and it is worth your money. If you dont happen to like it then you obviously have not used some of the junk out there and you can return it anyway. Have fun!

Well, I have bought the wheel for GT3 and was curious about the content and facts of these reviews... I would like to go someway to putting he record straight:

1) This wheel is FULLY compatable with GT3, but admittedly is a little fiddley to set up.

2) The 'play' in the wheel is controllable and can be altered so you only have to turn it slightly for a responce.

The only game I have found the wheel difficult to configure for is Driver. Unfortunately this is more to do with the programming of the game as opposed to the wheel itself due to the lack of controllable options in the game. It will work porperly but without the pedals.

The following games I have all work fine (maybe with a little tweaking though).

GT

GT2

GT3

Toca

Toca 2

Colin McCrae Rally

I hope this helps as it is definately the best wheel I have used upto now....

This is an excellent wheel. I've had other brands and gave them away or returned them. The ability to calabrate the wheel it self and not the game is one of the best features it has. The pedals react to the amount of pressure and the lighted LCD on the wheel enables you to see houw much pedal to the medal you have. The brake is real sensative and helps in controlling your car. It's a comfortable to use sitting on your legs or on a table. Highly recommend.

Honest reviews on Mad Catz MC2 Racing Wheel and Pedals Set

Okay, I would like to clear up the misconception that this pedal does not work with Gran Turismo 3. It does in fact work, and very well. It just needs to be set in-game. Also, the distance that needs to be traveled for turning force can be adjusted. If you have the adjustment problem, just read the manual. If you cant get it to work with GT3 (it is'nt very complicated) you can just e-mail me and I will gladly send you instructions. Happy gaming!

I used the first steering wheel for the original playstation and it was anything but impressive. But I since bought the mad catz 2, it's been great. The pedals never move, it has force feedback, AND A SHIFTER!! The steering is acurate, and works with most any game. I use it for, burnout 2, need for speed: HP2, and medicore game called downforce. This wheel is cheap and great.

There is no question that Mario Kart is soon set to celebrate its 20th anniversary as one of the most acclaimed video game series for the Nintendo games. It has just been a non-stop fast & furious ride for Mario, Bowser and his friends from each angle. It has been on every system since the Super NES, and it hasn't seen the plumber and his friends and foes hit the brakes into the warp pipe even once. Still, there have been so many racing games that have tries to copy it and haven't succedded, or those who have been inspired by Mario and his friends race. Well whatever the case, Mario and his friends kept on evolving in the Mairo Kart games and they have never lost their luster. Now with the high-octane and mushroom speed, it is at it again for the Nintendo 3DS, and truthfully it is worth each and every race.

Mario Kart 7 really brings in the big guns for the Nintendo 3DS, where some of the other Nintendo 3DS games, have missed their mark with the launch of the system. Hard to believe it is the 7th racing game for Mario and his friends, and this time around it has continued to evolve well by bringing in a swift mix of the new and the old. Just like Mario Kart DS and MarioKart Wii, gamers will race 32 tracks that are both new and from Mario Kart's past. The game definitely looks amazing with some new wrinkles into the game, as you have new racers and new courses too like racing in the new Music Park, where hopping on each note and insturment will help you cross the finish line, Shy Guy Bazaar, where it is a Middle Eastern flavor available, as you and your fellow racers try and cross the starting gate, while trying to glide from rooftops, and classics as well like Luigi Raceway from Mario Kart 64 and the speed and mall-madness of the Coconut Mall from Mario Kart Wii.

Aside from the mix of old and new tracks as well, there are new racers that are here to challenge Mario, Yoshi and friends including Lakitu the cloud-dwelling and spiny tossing foe, Metal Mario (as a celebration to help celebrate the 15th anniversary of Super Mario 64,) Shy Guy and Wiggler to name a few. They bring a lot of new blood into the game, as well as new elements like customizing your karts with tires and gliders which will make you soar your way back to the asphault. You also can race underwater too, which will help you find shortcuts in the game, especially in redesigned courses like Koopa Trooopa Beach and new Cheep Cheep Lagoon. There are also a few new items in the game too including the fireball power-up, the tanooki tail which will help you swat passing racers, and the new Lucky 7 that is a seven-way mix of weapons like the shells both red and green, a blooper to ink foes, banana peel and and a star for invinciblity.

The graphics in the game look amazing, as you score your way to the finish, as well as collect coins while on course to help yopu unveil extras to help customize your karts. The control is strong as well, in the classic mode, but there is one small hiccup with the new first person perspective. While the concept is good, in that mode you can race with others using the gyro sensor from the 3DS and steer your kart by swaying your racer back and forth, like the Wii Wheel was in Mario Kart Wii. That can take a bit to get used to for new racers, but for veterans they can also choose to play in the classic way as well. The sound is strong as well, by bringing in the classic scores and musical elements of the distinctive classic courses like Mushroom Gorge, but overall it is the gameplay that is fun in both single play and especially multiplayer too. The multiplayer adds extras with the Streetpass, and online gameplay like Mario Kart Wii showed, as you and 7 other racers try to race your way to the finish line.

Overall, despite one small flaw, Mario Kart 7 is definitely a fast and furious game from start to finish, and it still is just as great for many gamers more than meets the eye. If you have enjoyed the chase that Mario Kart has brought before than you'll definitely love this Nintendo 3DS game. I definitely love this thrilling racer and it shows that some game franchises have never gotten old, they just have gotten better with age. It is definitely a must buy for your Nintendo 3DS that is sure to be a treat that many racers haven't been able to show for over 2 decades across the finish line. I absolutely recommend Mario Kart 7 from start to finish.

Here's another must-own for the 3DS, plus it's my most played on the handheld. Just like how I got Super Mario 3D Land, I got Mario Kart 7 the day it came out. If you love Mario Kart or if you're new to the series, this game is especially a must!

Just like the other Mario Kart games since Mario Kart DS, you can play this game on your own, with nearby people provided that they have 3DS's, or play online. I dig the fact that you can be able to customize your kart, as well as the ability to glide and drive underwater! I would also like to thank Nintendo for getting rid of the thunder cloud that plagued Mario Kart Wii, that thing was just really annoying... you also won't be able to see any fake power-up blocks either, yay! Instead, you'll see new power-ups which are the fire flower, the raccoon tail, and the lucky 7 (I only use that to use the star lol). But still, be prepared to get attacked by those too, that includes blue spiny shells, bullet bills, and bloopers! And each time you get a lot of coins, you'll be able to unlock kart parts. You will also be able to unlock hidden characters, as well as a 3-star rank when you do awesome in the grand prix mode.

The best part of Mario Kart 7 is the game's online mode. You are able to play in worldwide matches much like in Mario Kart Wii, but with an improved VR system that doesn't decrease by a lot for no reason! The only way to lose your VR is when you get last place, and you only lose 3 VR when that happens, which isn't much at all that is much more fair than Mario Kart Wii's online! You are also able to race in communities and find people/friends you previously raced. There is also the Mario Kart Channel where it updates the time trial ghosts and the community list. The game also keeps track of your wins, losses, coins collected, etc. Plus you'll still be able to unlock remaining kart parts while you collect coins in the online mode too!

The only cons I have are the mii's voices, no actual way to ban whichever items you want while you make a community, not having the ability to create your own messages when you're in a community, and Toadette not being in the roster (I miss her!!!). Overall, the game is definitely chaotic, but you'll keep coming back for more action. Right next to Mario Kart Double Dash, this is my favorite entry in the Mario Kart series. Go get it right now!

Final Score 9/10 Awesome

Best Deals for Mario Kart 7

Every time Nintendo releases a new game you can always bet on them bringing over their core franchises. The one that seems to ruffle the most feathers and delight the most is always Mario Kart. The gameplay is often fun, simple and it's easy for just about anyone to pick up. It's also a series that has what can be considered a tried and true formula. Mario Kart has retained its familiar formula for two decades now and it's not going to stop here. If you've liked Mario Kart previously there's no reason not to really give the game a try.

As you'd expect, Mario Kart 7 is pretty easy to slip into. There are 32 courses in total and at least 16 of them are retro courses drawn from other Mario Kart releases. Most of them are pretty well designed, and those who love the older courses will be pleased to find some of the classics here. Some of them have changes to compliment some of Mario Kart 7's new mechanics. Each race has eight racers. There are also a ton of items to find and use as you race.

If there's one thing Mario Kart has always been criticized for and praised for it's the different assortment of items. Some familiar items that have been in Mario Kart forever return such as the mushrooms, stars and bananas. Some of the more recent items return as well such as the bullet bill. There are three new power ups to behold in Mario Kart 7. The first is the fire flower which will let your hurl fireballs at your opponents for a certain amount of time. There is also the Tanooki Leaf that gives you the Tanooki Tail to whack your enemies and finally there's the Lucky 7 which gives you seven power ups at once that you can use. Of the three new items the Lucky 7 is the most amusing of the batch. The fire flower seems as though it should've been a part of Mario Kart all along. The Tanooki Tail, however, is by far the least amusing of the new items here.

There is some degree of luck when it comes to winning, but there's more of a feeling that you're in control than the Wii variation where you could easily be bombarded with several items at once just seconds before the finish line. Here, that isn't likely to happen. You'll still find yourself hit by an item, but you won't find yourself bombarded too often in such a short period of time. The balancing here is better to the point that there is still a little luck, but your skill is actually important here as well.

There has been a lot made about the new addition to the vehicles. The glider and the propeller. One allows you to fly while the other allows you to traverse the water. For the most part, these additions don't really add much to the experience. It's amusing the first couple of times you do them, but you'll feel much more at home with your wheels planted firmly on the ground. They're not entirely useless. Gliding can, for example, give you an edge in some races. It's going underwater that more or less feels no different from being on the surface. So while they're certainly welcome additions, it doesn't really do a whole lot to enhance the experience.

You'll more or less experience much of what Mario Kart 7 has to offer within a couple of hours. Certainly there are 32 courses but you'll breeze through all of them rather quickly. You'll also unlock drivers and a mirror mode and different parts to your Kart. If anything the multiplayer is what is more likely to keep you coming back to Mario Kart 7. You can play locally with friends or online and both actually work out just fine. You can also get into coin battles and the balloon battles, which is pretty standard for Mario Kart now (and also much more fun with friends). There's also a Mario Kart channel just like there is for the Wii.

Visually, Mario Kart 7 is by far the best looking game the 3DS has at this point. There's a lot of detail put into it and it just looks smooth. The 3D also works out rather well, but chances are you won't actually need it to enjoy the game. It really gives players a sense of what's around the corner for the 3DS.

The only thing that really keeps Mario Kart 7 down is that it really isn't any different from the previous Mario Kart. Things have been slightly reworked and tweaked but there isn't much offered here that other Mario Kart games aren't already going to provide for you. The new courses are great but usually that's all you get. Aside from that, the experience of Mario Kart 7 isn't really all that different from the previous ones. It's not necessarily a bad thing. It means those who've loved Mario Kart don't have much reason not to try it. It makes for a decent game, but it sometimes walks a fine line between improving the series and becoming stale. Regardless, the game is still good on its own and worth a look.

Honest reviews on Mario Kart 7

I bought this game today from a local retailer. at the time of writing, I've played for about 4 hours.

The game is very good, but it could have been better.

It is a Mario Kart game and it delivers as expected. If you're a fan of the series or just a 3DS owner, then this is a must-own title.

First the bad:

I was really excited for a 1st person "cockpit" view. I tried it, but it isn't good. This could have been good, but unfortunately the problem here has more to do with the 3DS itself. With the game in 3D mode, it isn't practical to tilt the 3DS to steer, unless you turn your head with the 3DS. You'll get a sore neck or just look stupid doing it. For anyone with experience with the 3DS knows that tilting the display ruins the 3DS affect, at least until you can readjust your eyes.

Next is the analog steering controls. I do not feel "locked in" while using this control. The analog control feels somewhat detached from the Kart's steering. Overtime a person will get used to it. That's all I can really say. Steering is not possible with the D-Pad, which is unfortunate. I would have liked to have had a choice, especially considered how bad the analog steering feels.

Historically, Mario Kart games have always been bigger and have included more content than their predecessors. Mario Kart 7 does away with at least 8 characters who were in Mario Kart Wii. There are fewer drivers to choose from in this game.

The good:

Despite the fact the there are fewer drivers to choose from in this game, the Nintendo makes up for it by adding some new features. There is a lot more variety in the form of kart options. As you progress, you unlock various mods for your kart. Some mods include different body styles for your kart, tire options, and wing options (for gliding). All mods do affect overall performance of the kart.

New powerups!-there are 3. The feather grants you Raccoon Mario's tail, used to whip opponents or incoming projectiles. The flower that allows you to shoot fireballs. Lucky 7 which surrounds you with 7 different powered (similar to the triple shells), all of which can be used. The Lucky 7 powerup is by far the rarest. In 4 hours of playtime, I received the Lucky 7 just once.

Where I'm neutral:

I saw the trailers for this game and I was really excited to see the new gliding and underwater features. While they look "new and innovative" in terms of gameplay, the reality is they're a bit underwhelming. Driving underwater feels exactly like driving on the road. The difference: in one mode your kart has a propeller on the back of it.

Gliding is fun, and there are some skills to learn to have an advantage on the track-for example, using the glider to create shortcuts to leap several positions in the race.

The Verdict:

I'm giving this game a 4 instead of 5 because it isn't as perfect or polished as MArio Kart titles have been in the past. There should have been the same amount of content or more content as in the previous installment. The game is almost unplayable using "tilt" controls while in 3D mode. Good graphics with slightly annoying character noises, but a fresh and fun choice of what to put on your cart. The game is constantly throwing new stages at you, making it easy to try out new tech niches. A nice game overall!!

I'm a huge WWII buff and per-ordered this the day it went up.

I've been playing it since release, it's a good game, but very hard.

The Game 70 out of 100

You can play in arcade (3rd person view only) or simulation (3rd person, cockpit or wingtip)

It looks and sounds a lot like the real thing. When you max your speed (what they call warspeed) and aim towards the ground you get that roaring sound.

Bullets have drop and you have to lead the enemy, and you really really need to learn when to use yaw and when to bank.

The ground is ok, not terribly detailed even when you crash into it. They planes are very good, however the controls inside the cockpit don't work.

The biggest problem is with the scale of the planes. In cockpit view I head toward a line of zero head on. Since I am attacking from height they I should be able to see a nice view of the plane. Instead all I can see is a big yellow arrow pointing toward where they are.

I circle around behind and pick them off, but even getting up fairly close they are not more than an inch on a 50 inch screen.

I wish it was more like Secret weapons of the Luftwaffe (1990 game by lucas arts)

The Joystick (95)

First its big, real big. Put it on a table and it will not move. Yaw, pitch, bank. Three buttons on top, plus a rocker. The trigger is about the size of a mouse button, but oddly doesn't click all the way in. It rest on a giant spring.

The throttle has two parts that you can keep linked together, very smooth and quiet sliding action.

While using the yaw (rotating the stick around) I actually felt my wrist start to get sore (insert joke here). The spring does want to return the stick to a neutral position.

On note. The stick comes in two piece. You put the stick on the base and use the grey locknut to screw it all the way up. Make sure the pins are clean, then tighten it up all the way. If you don't the green (trigger) button will not work.

My husband has played this game for about 3 hours today. He really enjoys it. I bought him this game for about Christmas even though the reviews weren't that good. He says the joystick is a must and improves the gaming experience .

Decent game play but, not as good as I thought it would be. The joystick is not a high quality product and does not have the sensitivity needed for good game play. Does OK but, the joystick needs tweaked a little.

Honest reviews on Damage Pacific Squadron WWII for Xbox 360 - Collectors Edition

bought this on sale --the only time to do this is on sale as the joystick is what ya want to get for other flight games

the joystick

great stick all around great features for the price(on sale) works well with flight sims good layout of buttons and the throttle seems at this time made for 1 engine games but seems to be made for 2 engines -it as a plastic linky deal in between throttle handles (later on feature maybe for 2 engine games?). good button lay out and nice extra feeling on switches on base

the game

video --looks horrible

-the game is too light at all times and its not my TV --did this game on 2 different sets and still way too light

the effects too bland

the ground--for game that has ground attack missions in it --HAVE stuff look good there ya know on the ground.

missionsman talk about repeating the same stuff over and over take first area for example "pearl harbor". This was the attack on dec 7th bit in game BORING. You just shot down wave after wave of planes with little rhyme or reason. To the point after I was about 3/4's done I was "done!". The after action report said I had shot down over 150 planes "one man army" I hate games that make you have to do it all!!

flight sim part -ok

missions briefing or AKA what and where I am going and what to do --LACKING BIG TIME most of time found out what to do and how to do it via trail and error as the in game "this is where ya go" arrows are little help

the planes-

they at least look good and fly in general the way they should

2 stars mostly for the joy stick

buy--only on sale as the game is not what ya want the stick is

-(you can hide behind a rock and they seem to forget they even saw you)

----------------------------------------------

they really get the feel of iron man down in this game, probably better than any other superhero game, besides of course Spiderman 1-3 and Incredible Hulk Ulitmate Destruction. you can hover, fly, use turbo thrusters for high-speed flight. you have various long range attacks from small lazers to the uni-beam. to those of you who arent familiar, its a huge beam that shoots from the circle on his chest, usually obliterating all in its path. you can also take great advantage of Iron Man's strength, ripping helicopters and tanks in half. you can also upgrade and customize all abilities.

the controls could've been a little more solid, but they're far beyond those of Superman the game, which is really the only base for comparison. there are very few games out there utilizing such an epic powerset. Marvel Ultimate Alliance(as amazing as it is) doesnt really count, its more of a dungeon crawler. a lock on system would've made combat a lot more headache-free. especially against the fighter jets.

in the end, its the only game that truly makes you feel like Iron Man. its honestly epic in every way, there were just a few bad design choices and a rushed release, which would explain the poor enviromental graphics(iron man himself looks good)

so any fan of Iron Man, or super heroes in general should try it. DEFFINITELY RENT before buying. just dont set your hopes too high.

The demo of IronMan was quite entertaining and fun. It didn't take long to get the hang of the flying controlls and the action was implemented quite well. The graphics were not the most impressive I have seen but the demo got me excited enough to buy the game. The opening sequence of the game where Stark builds his first nonflyable suit was good, but after that it went into a "training sequence" to aquaint you with flying and your "super powers" and everything was going so so till I was to grab hold of drones and shown a red button, well I did it but it kept doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over. Basically this has taken a lot of oomph out the game and made me wonder if Sega used playtesters or beta testers to critique repeitive parts like this. I had hopes that IronMan would be the exception to movie tie in games and I think I was wrong. So if you want to avoid frustation you may want to rent it before plunking down the full monty. If the game experience was at least as good as the demo it might have been a different story for me. I don't like to pay to be frustrated

Best Deals for Iron Man - Xbox 360

This game has been getting a lot of flak lately. Some of it is deserved (the environmental graphics do leave a little to desire, especially since Iron man himself is so well rendered) but there is fun to be had here. To be sure, there are times when the game gets frustrating because it's so hard (I played through the first time on medium difficulty) but as time goes by you realize you have to use your brain in a lot of levels and not just try to blast through them. This involves a lot of dodging and ducking and hiding between objects and choosing your shots. Once you master this the game gets much easier. I suggest using the easy mode if you're looking for a more casual experience.

I've completed the whole game and really have to say it's fun in a fairly mindless way. Sure, the missions do become a bit repetitive in that you're usually going to point A to blow something up and then point B to blow up something else, but the locales are varied. And the actual act of flying around and blowing stuff up in various ways is very fun. In a way, it's not that different from a game like Katamari, where you're basically performing the same task in different places. In this way, it harkens back to some of the more old-school games and is probably best appreciated this way, as the story is somewhat negligible.

The ability to unlock suits is fun, however be warned if you go through a second run of the game be sure to unlock any suits you didn't get to the first time before restarting! If you don't, all the suits in the One Man Army games go back to their original, unmodified versions and it makes it much harder. I learned this the hard way.

This will never win any awards, but it can be vicarious fun.

Honest reviews on Iron Man - Xbox 360

Whenever there's a big budget movie on the horizon, especially one adapted from a comic book, you can almost always bet on a video game tie-in being somewhere in the distance as well. Well, here's Iron Man, and yes, it is nothing else but another lame cash-in attempt that fails to do its comic and movie counterparts any kind of justice. Playing as 'ol shellhead, you take down wave after wave of baddies, with an occasional boss battle thrown in now and then for good measure. Naturally, what kills Iron Man is the fact that the game as a whole is a tedious bore. You have objectives, you take down the bad guys, etc, etc. The whole game is just so repetitive that it pretty much kills anything good about it. Combine this with some frustrating controls and disappointing graphics (and some just plain awful cut-scenes), and you get what we have here. There are some good points to be found, including the fact that the moments of flying around are pretty okay, there's unlockable extra armors, and film stars Robert Downey Jr. and Terrance Howard provide their own voices as well. All in all, whether you are a fan of the comic or the film, the Iron Man video game may be worth a look, but in the end, the game is best left on the shelf.

I figured out how to do the basics since I only play Mw2, but if I hold the trigger all the way down it kinda pauses in the middle of a gunbattle and is quite annoying, I have to hold it at a certain point, but than again sometimes it works really good and shoots faster than most automatic guns.

Just needs some more adjustments to it, so buy with caution.

Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV Round 2 Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition

Uses authentic Sanwa parts. (Along with Seimitsu, these parts are the best straight out of Japan.)

The control offered by this particular stick is phenomenal. Granted, I've only recently gotten serious about using one exclusively, I've been around the bloc a few times with these sort of products.

The Sanwa stick is very responsive and follows a square gate restrictor (stick moves around inside a square). When a gate is activated, you'll know as an audible *click* is heard. It may be a bit loud for casual home users, but it's part of the experience, in my opinion. Nothing to gripe about!

The buttons are also extremely sensitive. Contrary to the construction of the stick, these buttons DO NOT click! In a competitive sense, it's logical to reduce the amount of effort required to trigger the button, so no click. This is not to indicate that they are faulty, but fantastically responsive and dutiful in their purpose of translating your most complex inputs.

For stability, the several pounds that it does way are easily justified. To fanatics, input consistency is very important and they don't need their devices flying around because they're feather-light.

Other reviews may be bashing it, but the thought process in this product is quite legitimate, bringing together some revered names in the target audience and collaborating with them. Now, of course, it's a mass produced item, so there are going to be some business choices that not all of us would prefer. However, what you see is what you get and I've found a fantastic product in this.

Oh, it's also easily customizable with a bit of tinkering around. Even the face plate can be swapped out for one of a different design.

This arcade stick is amazing. It is a must have if you play fighting games such as street fighter or tekken. The stick is very customizable, you can switch out the buttons or create a new template. It uses high quality sanwa parts which is a plus. I think the round 2 fight stick looks way better then the first TE fight stick, the all black and red looks awesome. Overall this stick is great and if you were looking for a stick, get a TE they are cheaper then before and perform great.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV Round 2 Arcade FightStick Tournament

Although I am very much a core gamer I didn't really grow up in the arcades. Sure, I was there from time to time, but more often than not I would be play at home on the consoles. Since those days though, arcades have become something of a rarity. More recently, I have found an arcade dedicated to these games of old and purchased an arcade stick to go along with Street Fighter IV among other fighting games.

The Street Fighter IV Round 2 Tournament Edition arcade stick was the one I purchased. Prior to this I also purchased the official Dreamcast arcade stick, so this would be my second stick that I have owned. I also have a review on that stick, if you would like to hear my thoughts on it.

First, I am by no means an expert in arcade sticks. I could not tell you if these are genuine parts, or anything like that, in fact I am still learing how to use the stick. Coming from someone who has stuck with the standard fighting pad for years, I can tell you that there is a learning curve. The D-pad in geneneral is not made for the kind of precision that 2D fighters require. If you have ever tried to do Zangief's 360 degree movement, you know what I am talking about. In today's modern age the D-pad is reserved for things like switching guns and issuing commands. So the standard controller really falls under one size fits most. For the true fighting enthusiast, this is the way to play a fighting game. But then that afore mentioned learing curve compes into play. If you aren't used to playing with a stick it can be intimidating, the size and weight of the stick, the stick itself, and the large buttons make it seem like it's an unapproachable behemoth. But if you take the time to set up your controls properly and pratice it will come more naturally.

The arcade stick is Japanese style, which I prefer. If you are looking for the American style I reccomend the Mortal Kombat arcade stick, if you don't mind the ackward layout. The ball at the top of the stick is about average size, very gripable, and is great on the sensativity. 360 degree movements work well with the stick and I found some moves could be executed more easily. One of the more daunting movements in my books has always been the hyper and ultra combos for Street Fighter. It is a double down to forward movement and one or three attacks. The three attacks can be set to the other buttons so that isn't an issue, but the movement istself it. On the 360 D-Pad it's somewhat of a crapshoot, and while I can't pull it at the drop of a hat on the arcade stick, it does feel much easier to execute. With time, effort, and

pratice it will get easier. On games like Tekken and Soul Calibur the commands are generally more forgiving, making the learning curve much easier. I think the 3D fighter that that really makes the arcade stick shine is Virtua Fighter 5, some movements I found nigh impossible are much easier to execute.

The stick as a whole is rather large and weighty. It's approximately twice the size and weight of the Dreamcast arcade stick the Standard Edition SFIV pad I used at the arcade. I immediatley noticed it from the first time I picked it up. Once it was in my lap it didn't bother me. The other thing that I did notice was that it had an 8 button layout. I know this is a duh moment, but after fooling around with the DC stick and the actual arcade units which don't feature these it came off as a bit odd. Well obviously, they have to accomodate for all the buttons but it was yet another thing I had to get used to. What was nice is that the "extra" buttons are colored grey while the rest of the buttons are white, nice touch. The start and back buttons are on the front of the unit, this is for tournament use so you don't disqualify yourself by acciendtally pausing mid fight. It's the same deal as the guide button, it's on the top of the unit but can be locked off for the same reason. There is also a turbo function for those so inclined. Anyone worried about navigation outside of the game can put those fears to rest. Near the guide button is a 3 way switch for switching from either analog stick or the D-Pad. Don't get me wrong, you wont be playing Halo with this thing, it's meant for functionality across the dashboard. A word of warning though, the LT and RT buttons will not work as triggers with the stick, they are digital not analog buttons, not shocking, but worth mentioning.

The top of the unit is a glossy plastic, similar to that of the Wii or DS lite. Yes, it is a finger print magnet, I much prefer the matte finish of the DC arcade stick, but it doesn't kill the experience. The artwork at the top is a bit different from the original TE stick, it's black a features Street Fighter artwork. There are also screws on the top, which I believe are for adding custom artwork. Like many arcade sticks, this unit is designed to be modified if desired. You can swap out for american buttons or sticks. I cannot say how easy it is, becuase I have not tries, personally I can't see a good reason to modify this stick (voiding any warranty) to swap anything. It really seems perfect as is. The unit is wired, that may seem like a downer but it's actually the better way to go. Let me explain, first, this is a core gamers stick, so lag is not acceptable, I have never had any noticable lag with the wireless 360 controller but I do know that it exists on some level. I also like the fact that I don't have to buy any more batteries for it, this stick is expensive enough already, adding wireless tech and the cost of batteries creates more problems than it solves. The stick has a reasonably lenthy cord that comes out of a compartment on the front near the start and back buttons. It's a bit difficult to stick in such a tight space but it's a nice feature to have for storage. I had no problem sitting on my couch 6 feet away with plenty of cord left over.

Finally, don't be swayed by the manufacturer: Mad Katz. If you have been in the gaming world for a while you know they don't exactly have the best track record for quality video game peripherals. But I must admit this not only the best Mad Katz product I have ever used, it is by far the best quality stick that I have ever played with. Its is officially licensed from Capcom so if you were worried about the manufacturer that should be enough to get you over that hurdle. Overall, this is considered the best arcade stick money can buy. Even with it's small caveats and high price I would still recomend it to anyone who is going to get serious about fighting games.

I always preferred the Guitar Hero guitar to the Rock Band guitar (play-wise anyway) but the quality of the Guitar Hero guitars is weak. GH3 guitar had problems with the connection between the neck and the body. That has been fixed with GHWT, but the new one lacks in new areas. Mostly the strum bar. Occasionally mine registers extra hits (RedOctane's fix is to "hold" the strum bar and not "strum or flick"). Also, it will occasionally not register strums at all (My solution to that problem is to smack the body of the guitar with my palm, which I shouldn't have to do at all). And, probably the most irritating thing, my strum bar feels like it's rubbing against something on the up-strum, which throws my flow off just enough to miss notes.

I've done some research and I'm not the only one having these problems. GHWT would be an awesome game if the guitar wasn't crap. I highly recommend GHWT if you have a guitar the works properly.

Hopefully they can get it right, because the guitar feels good in my hands, except for these couple problems.

Beware, the online reports of the instruments working fine, and then getting worse to the point that they don't work at all eventually are true. My guitar was perfect, then the second week it stopped working entirely.

Activision's repair policy is terrible also. They won't even shell out a few bucks to ship their defective merchandise back to them.

Go with Rock Band 2: not only is the game better, but if you have a problem with the equipment EA is gracious and will replace it in a much more respectable fashion.

This review is for the Guitar/Game combo of Guitar Hero World Tour. Without getting into all the fanboy arguments about which came first, who owns who, and which game is ripping off the other; Guitar Hero World Tour is just not as good as Rock Band. Graphically it's better in that the characters are brighter, clearer, etc...though they still remain oddly cartoony. It's almost creepy when you see Jimi Hendrix because he looks so real yet animated at the same time. It's weird. As far as gameplay goes (and this is again only for the guitar aspect of it) it's definitely easier than Rock Band 2. More on par with Rock Band 1. I walked through it on expert without failing any songs up until the last set. To me that's not a bad thing since songs that are annoyingly difficult are absolutely no fun to play. The new guitar is pretty cool too. The touch pad way down on the neck makes solos INFINITELY easier to play when applicable. And I have never had any trouble with my guitar being faulty (ie failing out of a song before it starts like some people claim). The biggest knock against this game is the song selection. First of all, a bunch of the songs are straight from Rock Band 2. And I'm not saying it's a game of copying, it's just that Rock Band got to the market first and it just looks bad when you have the exact same songs. The song selection overall is not as fun as Rock Band 2 either. But that's just personal preference. I gave the game 4 stars because it's really not a bad game at all, I just think that the song selection, note charts, and presentation of Rock Band 2 is better. But if you've played Guitar Hero and really liked it, there's no reason not to pick this one up. I just haven't played it since I beat it...and I'm still playing Rock Band 2 almost nightly.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Guitar Hero World Tour Guitar Kit

If you already have a guitar controller, but want a new one, don't bother getting this package. Just get the game by itself and go find a better controller. The switches that control the strummer in this guitar are crap. Mine died within two weeks. They are not hard to replace though if you are handy with a soldering iron.

If you are looking for a starter bundle for Guitar Hero, start with the GH III wired controller bundle. That controller can take a beating.

Overall it's a fun game, but not my favorite. GH III & V are better IMO. Worth picking up if you don't have it yet, but if you're just starting off, grab a different one first.

Got the guitar bundle from Amazon a few weeks back, and the guitar had a broken strum bar right out of the box. It dropped some notes at first, and got even worse after a few hours.

I tried to get an RMA for the guitar, but after over a week of dealing with Red Octane's terrible replacement request website and Activition's automated phone system, I ended up with over half a dozen automated e-mail responses and was still no closer to getting a working guitar.

I have since returned the bundle to Amazon and haven't looked back.

In contrast, when I bought a Rock Band 1 bundle last year, the guitar was also broken out of the box. After 15 minutes on their web site, I got a replacement guitar shipped to me that arrived in less than a week, and still works to this day.

If you are choosing one or the other, I would definitely go with Rock Band. Both their customer service and the games themselves are of a much higher quality than these newer Guitar Hero releases.
