Final Fight, Knights of the Round, The Punisher, The Simpsons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, X-Men, Golden Axe, Double Dragon, and of course, Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara . . . any of these titles bring back memories-preferably fond ones? The beat'em up, as it's so aptly referred to, is a genre that had its heyday in the '90s, when arcades were still a thing, TGIF was the best damn night in television, and Star Wars: Episode I had yet to ruin everything. It was a genre, along with fighters, that dominated my childhood, and while the past few years have been kind to fighting fans, fans of beat'em ups have had to sift through digital offerings for some of that mind-numbing, side-scrolling action.

Vanillaware, a purveyor of 2D games, such as GrimGrimoire, Odin Sphere, and Muramasa: The Demon Blade, has taken it upon themselves to fill the retail release void with Dragon's Crown (hereafter DC), a stately entry in the beat'em up genre, that also features a heaping of role-playing game elements, making the aforementioned Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara its biggest influence.

DC opens at Dragon's Haven Inn, a tavern you'll frequent during your adventures. It's here where you'll choose a character, set your party, and report your progress. The characters available are all visually, and mechanically, distinct: an ironclad Fighter, who's a sword and shield favoring behemoth; the Sorceress, a witch who prefers to support the party, not so much her back; a Wizard, very much interested in melting faces; the Dwarf, a duel-wielding, goblin-chucking ball beard; the Elf, who's fey, swift, and a rumored Hunger Games fan; and finally, the Amazon, a warrior that consists exclusively of brawn, butt, and boobs. She's also adept at sundering skulls with her ax.

A few color schemes are available for each character, and you can change their name as you see fit. Japanese voices are also available if that's your thing, but only for your character. The remaining voicework is strictly in English.

After you've settled on your character, a tutorial awaits (which can be skipped for the subsequent playthroughs), and it does an adequate job of walking you through the basics. You'll also meet Rannie, a rogue; he'll accompany you throughout the game, and you can direct him to unlock chests or doors, while you focus on combat.

Leaving the tavern, you'll have a town to explore, though its faculties, such as the Temple, Magic Item shop, and Stable, aren't all available at the start. Locations open as you progress the story, and additional tasks are doled out at the Adventure's Guild, where you can learn skills (class specific and common) and accept quests.

The main story focuses on the eponymous Dragon's Crown, which allows its wearer to control dragons (of course). It all comes across a bit boilerplate, and it never strives for anything more. A narrator with an earnest delivery breathes some life into the tried and true material, though the narration is limited to the main quest only, so if you find yourself focusing on side-quests, you'll hear a particular phrase uttered repeatedly during your comings and goings in town, until you move onto the next story segment.

Fortunately, your comings and goings are consistently in gorgeous environments, populated with detailed secondary characters, and great interpretations of classical monsters, all with a multitude of influences sweeping throughout. DC references everything from The Nude Maja to Tinker Bell; Renaissance portraiture to Frank Frazetta's paintings; Jason and the Argonauts to Monty Python and the Holy Grail; and more. George Kamitani, Director, takes what should be an incongruous mixture of styles and creates something cohesive. It's pretty impressive stuff.

They're nine stages to conquer, and each has a branching path that becomes accessible after reaching a certain point in the story. Along with the two paths, you'll uncover secret passages and various quest specific situations as well. The locations vary from moss enveloped sanctuaries to desolated catacombs.

It's great the stages are engaging and fun to play through, because you'll revisit them, a lot, either for quests, or because the main story requires it. And, you won't have to do it alone. DC allows for four player simultaneous play, both local and online, although online play is initially locked. You'll have to unlock the stables to access the network, which is going to take around five hours.

Unfortunately, if you're playing on Vita, ad hoc mode isn't considered "local" play, and you'll have to unlock the stables to access any sort of multiplayer. Not a big deal if you don't have any friends; a big deal if you do.

Though, perhaps you have friends, but they're lame and don't like beat'em ups. Thankfully, you still don't have to go it alone. You can set the three player slots to AI controlled companions, and they're competent, for the most part. It may become a bit maddening to see them stroll into traps, or not effectively use items in their possession, but I've seen my friends do this too, so I'll cut my artificial ones some slack.

To keep the AI companionship fresh, you'll find piles of bones in the dungeons, which you can bury at the temple, or pay a fee, and resurrect instead. The resurrected characters will then wait for you at the tavern, all with varying gear. Even better, players you encounter online may be resurrected as well, meaning you can play offline with your friend's toon. It's also cool to know that someone may have resurrected you, and are questing with your character while you're at work thinking of playing Dragon's Crown.

It'll take around 15 hours to complete the game on normal, and after doing so, you'll unlock hard mode, which increases the level cap to 65; after you complete hard mode, you'll unlock the final difficulty level, and raise the cap to 99.

What's the point of grinding a character to level 99, when you can start the adventure anew with different class? Loot. What else? When it is all said and done, DC's draw is loot. Chests are scattered about the levels, and contain treasure which vary from E, the worst, to S, the best. Completing stages and defeating bosses not only yields experience points, but more loot as well.

Multiple bags can be purchased, meaning you can create different loadouts, which you'll need, since having gear with the proper attributes is important as difficulty increases; plus, gear breaks down with usage, and if you don't have back-up bags available, your S-Rank ax may be in no condition for another round, meaning you'll have to return to town, annoy your friends, and miss out on an amusing cooking game.

If you're on the fence which version to buy, I wish I could say there's a clear winner, but there isn't. Graphically, they're virtually identical, with the Vita version susceptible to noticeable slowdown when the action heats up with four players. The OLED screen makes a pretty game even prettier, but it's also small, so losing track of your character is going to happen.

But, the Vita version benefits greatly from the touchscreen. There's additional treasure hidden in the game, identified by glints; if you're playing the Vita version, you just tap the glint, and the treasure pops out. Runes eventually become available, and their magical properties can only be tapped by, that's right, tapping them. Also, if a player dies, and they're out of life points, you can spend gold to reanimate them, but you have to tap their portrait to do so.

How does the PlayStation 3 version compensate without touch controls? A cursor, which you manipulate with the right thumbstick. It is cumbersome to use, even when there isn't any action unfolding. But, having to fiddle with the right thumbstick, mid-battle, to bring your partner back to life? Urgh. Casting rune magic by moving it over three separate runes, spaced apart, while skeletons are hammering you? Double urgh.

In that sense, the game feels designed for Vita, or at least a controller with a touchpad (come on DualShock 4).

Of course, you can't play local co-op on a Vita, and if you have a roommate that's into these games, I'd deal with the cursor, and play it on PlayStation 3. Also, slowdown isn't an issue on PlayStation 3, and if you're sensitive to frame drops, the Vita version may be too much to bear.

If money isn't a concern, you'll be happy to know the games support cross-saving, though you'll be unhappy to know the games don't support cross-play.

Dragon's Crown is a rarity: a 2D side-scrolling beat'em up, with an unabashed artstyle, that's long. It isn't concerned that it'll take dozens of hours to complete with a single character if you wish to tackle all the difficulties; it doesn't care that you may be offended by the art; and it certainly isn't going to apologize if you don't see the appeal of grinding levels until it's simply time to go to bed. And it's all the better for it.

I spent countless hours playing Golden Axe on my Sega Genesis when I was a kid in the 90s. I played it pretty much every day after school, and it got to the point where I could blow through the whole thing in under twenty minutes, achieve the A+++ ranking upon completion, and only lose one or two blocks of health during the entire campaign. So why did I keep playing it, long after I had mastered it? The game was outrageously fun, that's why.

Dragon's Crown recaptures that type of fun for me perfectly. It's like Golden Axe, but with infinitely better graphics, sound, and most importantly: depth. Separating itself from the much older Golden Axe, your characters level in this game, they develop skills just like in any modern RPG, they acquire loot, and the techniques with which you combat the enemies continue to evolve as you become more experienced with how to play. Like Golden Axe, this game might seem like a mindless, button mashing brawler, but that's not truefor those who wish to develop their technique, this is a game that has oodles of depth and begs to be mastered by the devoted player. And, needless to say, nobody will be blowing through this game in twenty minutes it's a lengthy, fascinating campaign.

Also noteworthy is the variety available in the character class selection, which will add tons of replay value for people like me who love to play these types of games. I'm currently using the Amazon, who is awesome, but I look forward to developing an enormously powerful wizard, and experimenting with the other classes as well. Like Golden Axe, this game is FUN it's just that simple. I don't know if younger players who have been raised on different genres will enjoy it, but for anybody who was a fan of brawlers and beat `em ups, Dragon's Crown is a dream come true.

Let me get to the point, this game is a pure classic. Great for the summer as a nice couch co-op run for up to 4 players. If you reminiscence about those old-school side-scrollers like Golden Axe, TMNT, Streets of Rage, Double Dragon etc then this is the game you're looking for. Sure there are great side-scrollers on Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network (Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Phantom Breaker) but this game gives you a closer feel towards a modern Golden Axe.

There are a few things potential buyers should understand before getting this game. First off which might be the biggest gripe for people and their friends who buy this and expect to go home and play together is that you need to unlock online multiplayer. Its unlocked by the 9th level I think and it'll take a good 5 hours+, so expect to play alone that first night. Local co-op or couch co-op doesn't suffer from this, so they can join right away in the beginning tutorial level. The tutorial level is only for Player 1 so those who are using different classes might not know their entire basic moveset. Also if you decide to start fresh as a new character you need to complete the basic 9 levels again before unlocking online mode. The good thing is that your loot or bag is shared among all your characters.

Once unlocked you can basically join random games or random players join you, or you play with a friend. Problem with random players is that there's no voice chat, with friends you can send private chats and play. Meaning they might not be paying attention and holding a key that's detrimental to the level while doing nothing or they could be purposely doing it.

For a game that leads people to believe its more multiplayer than single player it's kinda eccentric. It's actually really tedious when doing a 4 player couch co-op run because each individual player has to accept their own quests, visit shops, utilize their skill points and ready their equips. For example, player 1 takes full control of the screen to handle his/her business then player 2 has to take control and so forth. It gets very tedious because after every level, each player wants to go add their skill points and change their gear which takes time so basically every player needs to take a turn doing things. They should have made a better interface where the screen is shared amongst all players. Also the loot is more oriented towards the first player.

During the gameplay when you're traversing through each level and each player is doing his/her own thing, it gets extremely hard to see where and what you're doing. You tend to get lost in the battle especially if a Wizard casts a flame spell that engulfs the whole screen. It's a minor problem to me but it does affect a few players out there who can't stand having their screen blocked, and trust me wizards/sorceresses have quite the flashy moves that take up the whole screen. By the time you see yourself after the spell is over you could be dead haha.

Speaking of death in the game, you start out with 2 lives and you can pay money to increase it, if you or your pals die within the game you can continue easily by pressing X and paying a small fee, I think 650? So luckily there are no game overs unless you're broke.

That's probably all the major downsides to this game that I can think of. Besides those small problems its great game. It's by Vanillaware and they make some great looking games, Muramasa the Demon Blade on the VITA is stunningly gorgeous. Each character plays differently, except for the wizard and sorceress, they both have the same weapon attacks but different spells.

The amazon is just a crazy berserker with low defense that's usually jumping everywhere smashing things. Warrior is your basic all around guy that has a shield and can defend. Dwarf is the little tank guy that has great def when he goes into immovable mode, holds hammers and can throw enemies. Elf is really fun, arrows are limited though so sometimes you can't always rely on using your bow too much. Wizard and sorceress are really fun with their wide array of magic spells, however their basic magic attacks are the same, just depends on what type of stave they are holding and what element it is. Both have different spells whereas the Wizard is more offensive and the Sorceress is suppose to be a support type. That doesn't mean she doesn't have any offensive magic, the sorceress can summon a giant boulder, a blizzard, or a thundercloud, then she has some fun spells like petrify and curse which turn enemies into frogs.

In the beginning each level is about 10 min more or less and after you beat it, a quest opens up which makes you basically repeat the level. Gets monotonous at first but you'll realize you actually need it to level up your character. At the end of every level is a boss fight and there are some amazing boss fights. There's not enough epic boss fights these days but this game delivers.

Other than what I've mentioned I don't wanna spoil any information so we'll leave this review as is. Overall its a great action-rpg side-scroller, definitely recommend. I just wanted to point out several things all potential buyers should know before they get this game. I didn't expect to have to go through over 5 hours trying to unlock online co-op.

One last note, this game makes me think of a 2D Gauntlet Legends side-scroller lol.

Honest reviews on Dragon's Crown - Playstation 3

Vanillaware is not a niche developer.

Dragon's Crown is not a niche game.

It is the culmination of what gaming would have been years ago without in the intervention of 3D graphics. Dragon's Crown, aptly named, is the resplendent prince of our gaming heritage. It's as if the Byzantine Empire had continued on in some alternate dimension and you could go there anytime you wanted just by turning on your TV. It's astounding design and execution nails a treatise on the oaken doors of the AAA gaming industry who have become the slaves of novelty and the mindless servants of their own avarice.

George Kamitani and his cohort have been reaching back not just to gaming classics, but into their own true creative artistry. Famously free of focus testing and without care for what is 'trending' in the industry these courageous people have been single-mindedly creating only the games they wanted to make since the 90s. Put another way, they were indie long before you could make console games without a major publishers involvement. Vanillaware is the weapon we can wield against the bloated, overwrought, incestuous and putrefying monsters called EA, Activision and Ubisoft as they attempt to distort and liquefy gamers into the stupid money machines they hope for us to become.

That said, this game is George Kamitani's single vision. Does that mean that his design may be off-putting to some? Certainly. You can't count me amongst those folks, but I can see their points. On the other hand if we demonized great film directors like Scorsese, Kubrick or John Schlesinger for the portions of their works we found offensive, we all understand we would be holding back the medium of film. Indeed, the fact that these elements made it into the final design of the game is proof of it's purity against the creeping creative death that seems to infect titles made these days.

Every dollar spent on Dragon's Crown is a vote for a future where the EAs and Microsofts must respect and more fully celebrate creativity. And every time you talk about or play Dragon's Crown with your friends is a moment where you are engaging more completely in the grand history of our hobby.

(see what I did there.. 'grand history'? :) Like Grand Knight's History?? ... release it anytime now guys plzthx!)

Dragon's Crown is a throw-back to the glorious days of side scroller beat-em-ups. The over-exaggerated style in all aspects (terrible to some, awesome to many others) flows well together with the insane combat and over the top magic effects for a bright and flashy game with simple yet deep and varied combat that makes one nostaligic for the quarter eating machines from days long past. The story is simple and is little more than a framing device, the soundtrack is fitting to the theme of the game, and the controls are very simple.

If you want a fun local co-op game right out of the box, go grab this now as it is one of the finest examples of the genere I have ever played. The online co-op, however, while running smoothly and very fun, isn't unlocked until you have completed all nine of the base missions of the game either solo, with a physical partner, or using AI controlled partners that you find throughout the world. The AI is kind of wonky with the partners, sometimes they will set-up traps and use their attacks brilliantly, other times they will stand in an easily avoided pillar of fire for 15 seconds until they die.

While you play you can control a cursor with the right analog stick to manipulate the enviorment slightly (tell a rouge to unlock a chest or door, find treasure by clicking on a shining bit of light in the background, examine runes, etc.) and it is a neat feature, but it is basically useless during combat on the PS3 and is probably the only way that the PS Vita version really shines over the PS3 version with its simple touchscreen interface.

The classes approach to combat is all highly varied. The Wizard punishes with high damage elemental attacks and near game breaking (at max level) spell that slows time down to a crawl for all enemies on the screen. The Sorceress summons skeletons, turns enemies to toads, and can produce food for the party allowing them to stay healed up. The Dwarf is a slow fighter with pretty weak defense but is ridiculously strong and can pick up even massive enemies and fling them at other enemies for pretty constant long distance high damage effect, get good at it and you can chain throw multiple enemies leaving the enemy ranks in tatters. The fighter is a tank in nearly all regards, able to offer up a circle of defense to all his partner, and having a load of fast (although very short ranged) attacks. The Amazon is high-risk, high-reward melee, her attacks flow well together and can do a lot of damage, but her defense is terrible and one really needs to read the battlefield with her to be effective, but once you get her down she will decimate scores of enemies. Lastly, the elf is the most well-rounded, a good combination of close range attacks and abilities mixed with solid damage with a bow from afar with different types of shot-styles available.

The game only has 9 levels, but you will discover new stuff nearly every time you visit those same levels and work your way to the boss at the end. Not just new treasure, but new paths you either missed or couldn't access before, side quests to help build your character up, and new enemies.

Dragon's Crown is a fantastic addition to a genre that hasn't had much high profil love in many years (Castle Crashers being the only co-op beat-em-up I can think of being made before it in recent years) and very well serves as one of the best examples that the oft-neglected genre has. I pinged it a point for being on the short side in terms of level variety, forcing you to essentially complete the main game before you can go online to play, if playing local co-op only the first player's story status will count and be saved. There are enough little complaints to keep this from being a perfect game, but if you want to slaughter some monsters with friends in a highly exaggerated fantasy brawler, you will get a lot of fun and love from this title.

just about any hdmi cable under 10ft should fit the bill...when I opened the box for this cable, I was shocked at what I found...this is the beefiest hdmi cable I have ever come across...so maybe it's just my own imagination and expectations, but I felt that the picture was a little better...whatever the case, amazon basics hdmi cable was a total welcome to my blu ray...I would recommend this cable to anyone...glad I bought it...

Guess there isn't too much too say about an HDMI cable, though this thing is definitely solid and well-made. From the feel of it, it's got shielding enough to withstand a electromagnetic pulse. You could buy the AmazonBasics High Speed HDMI Cable (9.8 Feet / 3.0 Meters) [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] for much less, but, for me, paying the extra for such a solid cable is worth it, and the price beats all the other "premium" HDMI cables.

It works it, suspiciously almost works too good. Nah, that sense is unappreciated doubt for all the times my walet was out to the cleaners purchasing other video equipment. Buy 2 or 3 mabey you won't have to buy hdmi conector ever again. And isn't that amazon's plan anyway.

I never would have bought this game for myself. I can't decide if it was out of selfish or generous intent, but my 8 year old son bought this game for me for my birthday. I am so lucky. He and I are huge fans of x-games and good video games on any platform, but I had no interest in this title (prior to owning it).

I've been playing video games for over 20 years and even compensating for the state of technology at any given time, this may be, in my opinion, the all-time best game ever.

It is so much fun, so real-feeling...I always thought the "lines" (path a person chooses through the course) were a commentator's concept, but with this game you see them, feel them.

It is incredible. Makes me feel like I can actually do the tricks in real life. I hopped on my son's skateboard in the living room and nearly killed myself as a result.

Graphics, gameplay, sound, music, cohesiveness, variety and options, controls, concept, execution, this game has it all.

Hopefully some day I will be bored with this game and can go back and finish Warcraft 3 and Max Payne which I had recently bought and was playing on the PC before this.

This game has everything all the other bmx games has but this has one other thing that puts it above all the others, flow... u can see it in the rotations. My favorate tricks were 360s 540s 720s 900s cuz of this i even pulled a 1080. this flow made the game fun and realistic. I can play it for hours

It sure seems like it's been a long time coming, but now that Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 has finally touched down, was it worth the wait? You bet. Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 is to the original game what Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 was to its predecessor-a whole heck of a lot more gameplay shows up the second time around. Once again, you'll bust out flips, manuals, stalls, grinds, and dozens of other BMX tricks on a road trip around eight U.S. cities. Each level is packed with tons of secret areas, icons, and other goodies; there's also a park editor and eight multiplayer games to extend your ride even further. The character animation is extremely fluid, and there are some nice Las Vegas lighting effects-this is a very pretty game overall. The crisp sound effects are sparse (a few voices here and there, plus the ubiquitous spinning spokes), but the eclectic soundtrack more than makes up for it-Iggy Pop, L.L. Cool J, NERD, and Suicidal Tendencies all in the same place! Whip-smart controls make execution of the dozens of tricks easy, especially if you're a series vet; you can also modify grind and stall tricks now. With any of Activision's O2 games, you kind of know what you're going to get, and that's comfortable. Same here-Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 offers no major surprises but plenty of refinements to a proven formula. It's a major improvement over the first game.

While I am not a diva myself, I am a diva dad and I am surrounded by a diva world. With this in mind, this game was one that I knew that my daughters would love, though I did not think that I would spend much time with it myself.

In getting the game to review the girls were very excited. Just think, 2 girls, a Barbie video game... what do you think the response was...you guessed it... high pitch screaming... We put the game on, and my eldest, Diva-J jumped right in. She wanted to jump in and start to work with the dogs. I found that the game's graphics were ok, not the best of all WII games, but definitely not the worst. The game was entertaining and my girls were spellbound!.

There were some fun parts within the game for me, especially the training component. It required a bit of dexterity, but alas we were able to figure it out and now Diva-J plays it like a pro.

Overall a fun game for girls!

My 4 year old daughter received this as a Christmas gift and she loves it. It's been over a month and she still enjoys picking it up and playing in.

The controls and gameplay are designed so younger children can understand how it works. The game also does not talk down or punish the player for getting something wrong (as some other games can do). When it is done correctly then the dog gets a boost by learning a trick or loving the player more.

Reading is available for gameplay, but not necessary as Barbie will narrate everything that is written and the control instructions are clearly illustrated whenever necessary.

The basic idea of game play is that you groom, dress, and train your dog/s. The dogs then can walk the runway, perform a dance, and do a photoshoot.

Grooming the dogs properly makes the dog give you more affection, which allows them to perform better.

Training allows the dogs to perform the tricks better and earn more money.

Money allows you to buy more clothing and accessories for your dogs.

And performing unlocks previously unavailable clothing, dog breeds, grooming tools, and tricks.

However, grooming and training is not necessary to be successful in the game. There is no limit to how many shows your dog can do in a row or how frequently so the dogs can just perform over and over again and money will still be earned.

My only complaint is with how the developers handled the unlocking of the locked breeds. Almost all of the locked breeds are unlocked all at once as a very early reward. The last breed, the poodle, then takes forever to unlock. This isn't a big deal on it's own, but my daughter would get repeatedly frustrated because of how long it did take to unlock that last one. If they had released the locked breeds one by one, it really wouldn't have been that big of a deal.

If your child is into dress up and is younger, this is a good game to get especially at the price. :)

I bought this game for my daughter for Christmas and she really enjoys playing it. If you have a daughter that is a girly-girl and loves animals, they will like this game. I do however, highly regret paying $50 for it when it first came out. It is not a $50 game. If I had to do over again I would pay $25, tops.

Got this for my 4 year old for valentines day and she absolutely loves it! This game obviously does nothing for me, but for young girls who love fashion and dogs, it's perfect! She quickly learned that competing in the dog shows earned money to unlock clothes, accessories, and more dogs. Even with everything unlocked and available she still loves playing this and begs to play it every day. Not an educational game, but great fun for her and I love that she can play it by herself without me having to step in every 5 minutes like other childrens games!

Dark Summit really has little to offer since it is a cross between a platformer and a sports game it typiclaly lacks at both. Befor purchasing this game know that SSX tricky has better graphics, sound and gameplay as well as THPS 3 for that matter and genre. This game really seems like somthing that could have been released on the PS One a couple years ago and been great but for todays generation of games it really lacks a physics system feel and overall level of fun. Not Recommended, possible rental.

This game is horrible. There is no real object to the game. The missions are no fun and they are pointless. THis was supposed to be a snowboarding game, right? It's basically running from the cops while on a snowboard. 2 stars.

Review of Xbox 360 Data Transfer Cable

Xbox 360 Data Transfer Cable
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
UPDATE:

There is a NEWER cable that looks like it can transfer data from/to BOTH old-style OR Xbox360 "Slim" Hard Drives. Search for "Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable" and the cable looks black instead of gray. It also has what looks like an added SATA connector for Slim style hard drives. Last I checked, that new product is here:

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Hard-Drive-Transfer-Cable/dp/B005LBDOLA/

------

I received the Xbox360 Data Transfer Cable and used it to transfer all my data from my Xbox360 Elite console to my Xbox360 Halo Reach "Slim" console.

Technically you are connecting ONLY the detached hard drive from your former console, hooking it up with this transfer cable, then connecting the other end to a USB port of the console you want to transfer data to.

The cable comes in a box that is branded/designed the way all the new Xbox360 peripherals and games are showing up this year (those green "waves" and such).

The process is very straightforward:

(I did this while the Xbox360 Slim was already on, sitting idle in the 360 dashboard):

1. Connect one specific end of the cable to the detached, non-slim 360 hard drive.

2. Connect other USB end to any available USB port in the slim system (I plugged it into one of the two front ports)

3. A prompt will appear, asking if you want to transfer TO or FROM the console.

4. You can then individually select items to move, or move everything.

One thing to note is that it transferred all my content to the Xbox360 Slim EXCEPT for games that were installed to the HDD (that is, disc games I installed to the HDD before for quicker access times). Not a big deal and it transferred everything else (some 800+ files) without incident.

Remember that if you transfer data you still may have to "transfer licenses" if you don't, then some content (such as downloaded XBLA games or other downloaded content) may not be playable if you aren't online and signed into Xbox Live. This isn't a big deal for me because I am always online when the Xbox is on. Do a google search for "xbox360 license transfer" and one of the first pages should be a link to the Microsoft page on the matter. This will move the actual 'licenses' over as well, allowing you to play your downloaded/purchased Xbox Live content when you are not signed on to the net. Additional note: you can only transfer licenses ONCE per year, technically. Then you just have to sit tight, or take it up with Microsoft via phone support (I can't vouch for having done the latter :)

Like other reviewers say, once you're done with it... well that's it :( I'll be holding onto mine as I have friends transitioning their data from one console to another. That said, save money by just pitching in for one then and using it amongst your 360-owning friends :)

I purchased this product as I was upgrading from my old 20 GB pro to the new 250 GB slim. I decided on the cable to transfer over everything instead of using memory sticks as I wanted to get the licenses for my DLC transferred over as well.

Setup was a snap as all you need to do is place the old hard drive on one end of the cable and plug the other end into a 360 with the new hard drive, then follow the prompts that come up.

It took only about 7-8 minutes for all the data to be transferred over, and everything came over intact. I did not even need to recover any account profiles that were on the old hard drive.

All in all, I was very satisfied with the results and now intend to see how long it will take to fill up my new hard drive.

I Bought this July 14 2010 The shipping was incredibly fast. I needed this to transfer my information from my old xbox to the new xbox and this cable was great it tranfered all my information.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Data Transfer Cable

...then you do not need this cable. If you purchase the 250GB hard drive upgrade, then you will have both the 4GB memory unit and the 250GB hard drive available for use. You can transfer data directly between the two--you do not need this cable.

I state this because the instructions with the unit are not clear. I am surprised that Microsoft would not see how financially rewarding this upgrade path would be...

The Data Transfer cable sounds like a great thing to have, and it does work. Unfortunately, it is pretty limited in usefulness. The only people who really get a benefit out of this, are people with a ton of DLC. Also, you are only likely to use it one time. It isn't very likely that you will be transferring your content back and forth between Xboxes. Also, it only copies over the data. You still have to manually transfer the licenses for any of your DLC by either going to the support site, or calling Microsoft. Not that it is a difficult process. Online, it takes less than 5 minutes. You still have to re-download your DLC, but each item only takes a couple seconds, because it isn't redownloading the stuff, just the licenses associated with it.

As far as the kit itself, as I said, it works correctly and pretty intuitively. You can either tell it to copy everything, or manually select just the things you want to copy over. Restoring it onto the target Xbox is just as easy. The kit is well constructed, and I'm sure it will last me for a long time, or at least until after I upgrade my second Xbox.

I know that there are some unofficial uses for this kit, which might make this worthwhile for more people, but in general, I wouldn't bother with this kit. Just redownload your DLC and be done with it. Yes it may take longer depending on your internet connection, but you end up saving yourself the cost of this kit. If you have a bunch of DLC (in my case, all of the Fallout 3 DLC plus hundreds of Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks), and you don't mind spending a few bucks to save your self some time, then go for it.

For everyone else, I wouldn't bother.

I figured out how to do the basics since I only play Mw2, but if I hold the trigger all the way down it kinda pauses in the middle of a gunbattle and is quite annoying, I have to hold it at a certain point, but than again sometimes it works really good and shoots faster than most automatic guns.

Just needs some more adjustments to it, so buy with caution.

This controller is pretty good but I would prefer it to have more features like jitter box, auto aim, and drop/jump shot. But the rapid fire mode is good for the games it lists.

The mod could make the guns faster but it doesn't always work and sometimes it won't let you reload and it will just stick and you can't do anything and actually it can actually make it slower and the controller I got still had the chrome Xbox button in the middle

Note: This review is spoiler free with regards to the game's story

All good things must eventually come to an end, such as the star wars series, the lord of the rings trilogy, and the Jak and Daxter trilogy (not including the racing game and Daxter's own PSP game). After two excellent games, our favorite elfin friend and his furry sidekick come to the last entry in the Jak trilogy. The big question is: Is it a good ending? I'm pleased to say that overall, yes.

Jak 3 takes place an undetermined time after the conclusion of Jak 2. Haven city has become divided after relentless attacks by robots, metal heads and other nasties. The population blames Jak for these problems and he finds himself flown out to the wasteland, a harsh and unforgiving desert where nobody can survive without help. Abandoned by those he saved, Jak and his buddy Daxter set out on thier final adventure.

Like it's two predecessors, Jak 3 is a platforming game combined with a gun shooter. You get various jumps, kicks, punches and leaps, and you also get a wide array of firearms to take out your foes when your fancy Kung-Fu and karate aren't enough. Jak's moves remain largely unchanged from Jak 2 (which will now be called J2). He can still punch like a man, jump like a kangaroo, and leap like a bullfrog.

Gunplay remains pretty much the same as well. You get four guns (blaster, rifle, machine gun and peacemaker), but in a nice twist, each weapon gets various upgrades as the game goes on. The rifle for example, starts out in it's default setting. Hower, the next upgrade allows it to shoot richochet bullets while the third upgrade gives it a flying platform that shoots bullets in all directions. Each gun has three upgrades and playing with them is a blast. The peace maker for example, can fire a shot that paralyzes all enemies and makes them float around (whee!) while it's final upgrade...well, let's just say that you'll be shooting mini-nukes a lot.

The biggest change to Jak's game play comes in the form of vehicles. While J2 had flying vehicles and zoomers, Jak 3 has cars (and not the nice, talking Pixar kind). Because half the game is set in the desert, Jak and Daxter get around on dune buggies. There are eight of them and each has various unique traits. Some are really, really fast, one can jump riddiculously high (wheee!) and some of them will spin out of control at the slightest twitch of the control stick (boo!). You'll be spending a lot of time driving the buggies and for the most part, it's enjoyable and fun, though some of them (such as the sand shark) can be a bit difficult to handle.

Another new feature of Jak 3 is the sheer size of it. J1 and J2 had two enormous areas to run around in. Here, you have not one, not two, but three, yes, three! gigantic areas to run around in. And like the previous games, there are no loading times, an astonishing feat considering how enormous both worlds (Spargus city, the wasteland and Haven city) are. You'll definatly see a lot of amazing sights during your trips throughout Jak 3's world (such as how Haven city has...ahem...changed since the last game).

Dark Jak powers return as well, but are now balanced by a new side to our hero...light Jak. If Dark Jak is the attacking force, Light Jak is the defensive force. Dark allows you to kill things really quickly, while Light allows you to heal, fly (this is so AWESOME!), surround yourself with an inpenetrable shield, and even slow down time to a crawl. Both powers can be activated at any time as long as you have light and dark eco in your meters. And in a very nice touch, you can stop being light or dark at a touch of a button to save your energy for when you really need it. While both light and dark do come into play at vital moments during gameplay, both are really just a little added bonus to spice up gameplay when you want to, as you can play throughout the game without needing to use either force (except for scripted moments where you need to). But then again, being able to heal yourself whenever you want is a very handy thing! *smile*

Like J2, Jak 3 has you going from place to place, talking to people and doing what they tell you to do. And when you finish with that, you head over to the next person and do what they want to do, etc. It's a linear system that makes it easy to tell where to go and what to do next and it sounds fairly restrictive, but it does have one big strength: You don't have to start the next mission until you want to. If you want, you can wander around the wasteland blowing up wanderers for twenty hours, go hunt down twelve precurser orbs and watch the sun go up and down three times, and then tackle the mission. This free roaming system allows you to do what you'd like to do if you don't feel like doing missions for a while.

One thing i'd like to address before we go any further is the difficulty level. If one takes a look at my review for J2, one can find a lot of anger and hatred directed towards Naughty dog for making J2 the most unnecessarily hardest game i've ever played (and it still is by the way, tied only with Spider man for PS2). I am very pleased that Naughty Dog towned down the difficulty a lot for Jak 3. No longer does each and every mission require twenty attempts before you pass it, and no longer will you be throwing the controller into the TV while screaming obscenities becuase that a**hole Errol won that fricken race again. Here, the difficulty seems just right. Not too hard, not too easy. Most missions require a few attempts before they are completed, and a few can be finished on one try. There are still a few that are quite difficult, and one or two that are grit-your-teeth inducing, but overall, nothing as infuriating as many moments from the previous entry in the series. Oh, and there are only a few "go through the ring" missions this time around. Thank goodness.

In addition to the free-roaming gameplay, there are also plenty of secrets to unlock in this quest. There are over 600 precurser orbs to find and collect in Jak 3, and by doing so you get to unlock various features such as unlimited dark and light Jak power, invincibility, extra vehicles, various weapon upgrades, etc. While some are hidden behind corners, many of these orbs are collected by doing various challenges that people throw your way, such as searching around a paticular area, going through rings (grumbles), following a little blue light and even stopping time. There are plenty of things to do to get those little shiny orbs, but the results are well worth it.

In addition, Jak 3 arguably has the best moments in the series in terms of "wow" factor. Fighting a gigantic sixty story tall monster with only a dune buggy is a moment that sends shivers down your spine.

Even with all these fine points, Jak 3 does stutter a little bit in what is arguably the most important part of the game...the story. J2 is most memorable to me for it's story. It had many twists and turns and you never really knew what to expect next. The story in Jak 3 is a good one and it does keep your interest in what is going to happen next...but ultimitly, it left me unsatisfied.

How so? The three biggest ones are charachters, the precursers and the ending.

And for those of you worrying that i'm going to tell you who the precursers are (which I won't) i'm going to keep this as spoiler free as I can.

First off, the charachters. We have Jak and Daxter of course, and those two are always fun to watch and care about. We have many returning charachters such as Torn, Sig, and Samos, and we have some new residents from Spargus city. The problem? Almost all of the returning charachters have zilch charachter development. It's assumed that you know them from the last game and because of that, Jak 3 takes no time to explain who they are or what they do. That may be okay, but pretty much none of the charachters are expanded at all. Torn is still gruff and tough (but not as much as last time), Ashelin is the firm leader, and Samos gives warnings on what may happen to the planet if things go badly. Keira, who was such a vital charachter in J1 and J2, has absoloutly nothing to do in the story aside from look pretty and important. Sig...well, he's just there because he's cool. The only returning charachter who kept me interested was Tess, who fufills the "dumb blonde" role. Her relationship with Daxter is sweet and lighthearted and kept my interest easily. Errol returns as well (though I won't say how), but he's gone from "insanely irritating" to "average irritating", a sad departure from his compellingly egotistic nature in J2.

Of the new charachters, only one, Damos, kept my interest due to his charachter. Tough, yet gentle and caring at the same time, he's easily the most compelling of Jak's new companions. The new villian, count Veger, isn't that compelling, though he does have some very powerful scenes (especially one near the ending).

One of the claims on the back of the game box is that we'll discover the shocking secret of who the precursers really are. As I said earlier, I won't reveal who the precursers are (someone did that and ruined the suprise for me), except that in my personal opinion, we should have never find out who the precursers were and leave them as a mystery. I personally felt that seeing who they really are sucked out all the suspense and mystery, esepcially since they have been talked about at length for two games now. It's like revealing the face of doctor claw. When you go back and experience your old memories, there is no more mystery or wonder anymore. In my personal opinion, these beings should have remained hidden forever.

However, the saddest part of the game for me is the ending. Again, I won't ruin it for you, but it's always sad when game developers have to wrap an entire trilogy up in three minutes. Some people criticise the ending of the film, Return of the King, saying that it goes on too long. However, the ending to the lord of the rings film trilogy took it's time wrapping up the threads from three movies and bringing closure to the story and leaving one satisfied. However, Jak 3 doesn't do that. As the game goes on and gets closer to the end, the feeling of dread and the idea that everything can be destroyed just vanishes and is pretty much gone by the time the final boss battle comes (and sadly, the battle itself isn't that exciting or memorable).

The ending does end the trilogy, but leaves the door wide open for more games (of which two have already happened). I've invested a lot of time on these three games, i've grown attatched to it's charachters and I would like closure to all thier stories. Saldy, that doesn't happen. Everything is left wide open when, in my opinion, it should have been closed. There is no real ending here, at least, one that ties everything up nicely.

But despite my points with the story, I do want to stress that Jak 3 is a very good game. It's a satisfying blend of storytelling, platforming, shooting, driving, and action. It's one of those games where you keep saying "Just five more minutes, just five more minutes", only to discover that time has flown by and it's two in the morning. It's addictive, fun, and, for me, a blast to play. I definitly recommend it, especially if you find it for under twenty dollars.

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy was a pure platformer at heart. It was more kid-friendly and goofy. Naughty Dog decided that they didn't want Jak and Daxter ending up like their previous Crash Bandicoot so they changed things up a 'bit' with Jak II. Jak II was darker, but not as dark as other games out there. It had the perfect tone of darkness for it to be a sequel to such a kiddy game. Jak II also had almost nothing to do with the first game. But enough of that, out with the old and in with the new. Enter Jak 3:

It's been a while since Jak defeated Metal Kor and saved the city...or did he? Now with Ashelin temporarily ruling Haven City the Krimzon Guards don't exist anymore. Instead now they're the Freedom League Guards. Now the Metal Heads have returned somehow recuperating quickly after losing their leader. This has made Ashelin get off the throne thus Torn not being the Freedom League commander so a member of Haven City's Grand Council called Count Veger takes control of the Freedom League. Also, the Krimzon Guards mysteriously return with a new leader. The battle of the three factions continues as they all struggle for control of Haven City. And who do they blame for this problem? Jak of course. Count Veger blames Jak to save his own tail since he's the real problem because he wants control over the city. Soon the entire city believes Jak is responsable because of his 'friendship' with Krew. The Council decides to banish Jak to the Wasteland for life. Of course Daxter decides to join him and for some reason so does Pecker. After Jak and company can't take the sand and heat anymore, they're found by King Damus; the ruler of Spargus. Spargus is a small city in the big Wasteland where other exiled people roam. But it's not all easy for Jak when he's taken to Spargus. There they value survival over all other things and Jak has to prove himself to King Damus and his right-hand-man Kleever. After a while, he'll find ways to eventually get back into parts of Haven City although it's nothing like before. When Jak makes his way into Haven City he finds out that the city is now a destroyed battlefield. But that's not even half of the problem. This Precursor monk called Seem keeps talking about this mysterious Daystar and that the world's final trial is coming. She also tells Jak that his dark powers will eventually consume him so a Precursor(or is it an Oracle?)grants him light powers. So now Jak will have both Light Jak and Dark Jak. I gave this game five stars because it's the ending of the epic trilogy and Jak II was a real good game but don't judge the game yet since it's coming out on November. (...)

Honest reviews on Jak 3 - PlayStation 2

Jak 3 is the end of the Jak trilogy, and gives Jak and his sidekick Daxter the largest world ever to explore. Jak can now use both Light and Dark eco powers, too!

Sure, there are a lot of comparisons between this game and the Ratchet & Clank series. And yes, both are similar in many ways. But I wouldn't say one is "better" than the other. Both have their unique traits that make them equally as fun. I definitely buy both and enjoy both greatly.

With Jak 3, you get a massive 'wasteland' to explore and run missions in, in a variety of dune buggies. There is also a desert city (Fremen and Dune, anyone?) and of course your home city to explore. There are missions involving riding missiles, riding hoverboards, stomping around in four legged tanks, searching for eggs, zooming on races a la pod racer, and much more.

The storyline is fun, but very linear. It's always quite clear what you need to do next to progress the game along. You earn weapons upgrades as you go, and earn secrets to alter gameplay in a variety of fun ways. The sound is reasonable, and the graphics are cartoony but well done, especially the animation in the cut scenes. The characters move very fluidly.

I do have to say that gameplay balance is a bit uneven. Some missions you fly through with no problem at all, and wonder what the deal was. Other missions you replay 30 times in a row until you manage by chance to get through it OK. If you get a walkthrough guide and just zip from egg to egg, sure you can finish it very quickly. If you actually take the time to explore the areas, seek out items for yourself, and play with the various mini-games, you could enjoy the game for several weeks. I'm not sure that the game is a replayable-minded as Ratchet, though. With Ratchet, we gladly replayed it many times to get the upgrades and secrets only available on the multiple passes through the game. With Jak 3, we're just happy to be done with it.

Certainly a great game to get and play, and there's even a secret that lets you blast away at Ratchet & Clank in the shooting gallery! :)

J2 set a new standard for game versatility. It had racing, shooting, action platform, puzzle, jetboarding, and strategy. Every kind of gameplay was represented and that was what made it stand out. J3 on the other hand is 75% racing. Since I'm not a huge racing fan, it hurts the game a little for me.

Don't get me wrong. The game is fun, and judging it on its merits alone, it deserves 4 stars. But I had expectations that simply were not met. J3 is a victim of its amazing predecessor.

The storyline isn't as strong either, and the final revelation about the Precursors, while cute doesn't fit with elements of the previous games. But that's not important, and if the game was more fun, I'd easily forgive the story problems.

I do recommend it. If you like racing, you'll probably enjoy it. If you don't, you'll probably still enjoy it, though not as much. But it's just a bit of a letdown.

Let me say, first off, that I'm rating this game based on their storyline, their zombie game, their online, and their co-op. I have no feelings about the guns, because I mean, it's WWII. I knew they were going to be nerfed and weakened down. I knew bolt actions would be boosted because so many people whined and whined on the forums about not being a "one shot sniper god"--

Storyline: It's completely fine. A lot better than CoD3, because you switch back and forth so much between America and Russia against Japan and Germany. Don't get me wrong, it didn't quite hook me as deeply as CoD4, but then again, I knew basically what was gonna happen in the gameI knew we'd win the war, I knew lots of people would die, and I knew it would all be great and grand in the end with lots of celebrating. CoD4, no, you didn't know anything that was gonna happen next, that's how they hooked you. You can't complain about this storyline just because you can "foreshadow" your HISTORICAL victory. Honestly.

Nazi Zombies: Upon beating campaign on any difficulty, you unlock the bonus mode, "Nazi Zombies" where you're trapped in a building by yourself or with friends and you, yeah, fight off hordes of zombies as long as you can. Is it fun? Not by yourself, unless you're one of those people that like being alone... When you're with a group of 4, with 3 friends, yeah, I personally have tons and tons of fun. Nothing quite like laughing while you poke your gun at a crawling zombie with no legs that keeps trying to bite you. I've had more fun with the Nazi Zombies mode than I have with CoD4 multiplayer & CoD5 multiplayer put together. It's just fun, luck, and skill.

Online Multiplayer: Here's where the game lost a star in the "fun" part of this rating... Online Multiplayer is without a doubt... boring. It's basically if I can pull my trigger before you, I kill you. If you pull yours before me, you kill me... let down :/ The spawn points are as said earlier... really messed up. I recall playing a match recently with tanks on the level. The other team had all 4 tanks, and they had parked their tanks outside of my team's spawn. Basically, when we so much as tried to leave our spawn, we were tanked down. It was horrible. Sniping is so much more aggrivating than CoD4... Don't get me wrong, I appreciate having to earn my own sniper scope. THAT is fair, no sarcasm or anything. I feel you should show skill before just jumping in with a scope and going 'YEAH I RULE' However-I don't agree with a bunch of kids that haven't hit puberty yet putting Stopping Power and Steady Aim on their class and just basically spraying with a bolt action and getting insta-kills. THAT makes me mad.

Co-op: You can't complain about their co-op. They give you the option to play storymode with friends, they give you the option to fight together, they give you the option to NOT fight alone. Is it perfect? Not reallyonly because I don't approve of having one teammate die and the rest of the team fails because of it. That's my only dislike in the co-op. I personally enjoy playing with my friends on xbox live or split-screen :).

That's it. It's a decent game. If you enjoyed CoD4 because of style, graphics, and playing with friends-get this game. If you enjoyed CoD4 simply for the storyline and 'pwning' people on multiplayer with your ultra awesome skill that no one in the world could ever hope to match... I'd recommend staying a no-lifer on CoD4, because this game would just make you mad.

Oh, and by the wayThe game is not "too dark" If you use your brain and go to OPTIONS in the pause menu... you can adjust how dark or bright the game is. People are so clueless sometimes. It's like calling tech support and when they tell you to turn the off switch to on you reply with, "oh..."

Call of Duty: World at War is a first-person shooter taking place in the WWII setting once more. I've written many long game reviews in the past few weeks, many great games are sprouting their heads. Long awaited and overall great titles have not only sprinkled the holiday season, but draped it. With power house titles left and right, one must really conserve and pick the best. So I'll keep the details simple, and hopefully you can decide by this.

Fan of "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare"? If so you'll be in for a warm welcome, this game uses the same interface and multiplayer setup. Expect a pretty good frame rate, and a devastatingly hard campaign mode (for players on the 'Veteran' setting that is). In this title you'll fight as both the Americans and the Russians. Take on admirable Japanese soldiers, or destructive German Nazi troops.

Campaign features two fronts, and a few interesting non-typical levels (a rail based flying level, and a tank powerhouse level). From islands soaked in sun, to rainy city streets you'll be fighting in a all out war. Additional features included are the ability to use bayonets on rifles, and the all new powerful scorching flame thrower. Bayonets play out basically the same as your standard melee (knife), and the flame thrower can burn up terrain with a decent range. You'll become acquainted with the staple World War 2 guns once more (M1 Garand, Thompson, PPSH, MP40, Nimbu, Type 100, MG42, BAR, Browning).

Online seekers will find some perks added and some changes in names. Rest assure it's still the same frantic multiplayer combat, but with some more open ended maps. For players not familiar with 'perks', these are implementations to ones character that give additional abilities (and are allowed up to three, ranging in different classes). Dropping grenades upon death, carrying two primary weapons, and having more health, just to name a few. One can pit themselves against a myriad of players and game types to achieve higher ranking, and more weaponry at their disposal. Maps are based off the campaign, and are pretty open ended, but maybe a bit too confusing at times. Tanks have now returned, similar to CoD 3's tank, except it is a little bit harder to defeat. If you've maxed out your rank and feel their is nothing left to do, enter 'Prestige Mode'. Removing all weapons gained along with perks, and beginning a new with a higher rank symbol. Challenges will be depleted too. Multiplayer has now added dogs in place of helicopters at the seven kill mark. Players can obtain special help after benching the three, five, and seven kill mark without dying. One may find the rigors of battling pros to be frustrating, hop into 'Boot Camp' to readily play other beginners. Keep in mind vet players, some perks (cough Juggernaut cough) are just as annoying as ever.

Also available to the multiplayer experience is co-op campaign, and the addicting zombie mode. Co-op campaign is great fun, but be warned achievement junkies, some achieves are nullified in this mode. Zombie mode brings you into less a horror and more a adrenaline rushing doomsday. Up to four players can join and unite themselves in defeating zombies in a worn down base. A currency is used to buy weaponry, and enable usage of other locations in the base. More opened up areas though more zombie accessibility. These staggering zombified Nazis strike in waves. Making things even more difficult and tense is their ability to break in to your base! After each wave players can book it to the nearest entrance/window and board them up for currency and brief security. Once all players have died the game ends and tallies up scores, players can revive fallen team mates though before calling it quits. To say the least, this is one of the funnest options any Call of Duty or game has ever included. It's also one of the reasons you have to complete the campaign, as it's only available after completion (oh boy!).

So really World at War doesn't break any new territory like the previous title had done. Yet it glazes the plateau over with a few new features, and another reason to continue playing multiplayer day after day. You may of noticed a longer description dedicated to multiplayer segments. Essentially this game plays out well in solo go a bouts, but is destined to remain a multiplayer investment. If you are a single player person, hopefully a rental will suffice. In the mean time, thousands of players have made the move to this games online and are definitely enjoying it. So maybe it didn't go above the call of duty again, but it sure is a fun worthy purchase.

EDIT: I just wanted to add that there are actually four perks available in multiplayer. The additional perk not available in Cod4 is a vehicular perk slot. Also now having logged in a hefty figure of hours, multiplayer overall still seems to be standing as enjoyable. Some glitches have been located, and people are exploiting them. Mainly a glitch that enables a player the ability to get underneath certain maps.

Best Deals for Call of Duty: World at War

Call of Duty World at War is set back during WW2. Kind of strange to make a game set in an older era right after the great success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The guns are old classics, Thompson, MP40, old bolt action snipers, and rifles, etc. At first you'll wonder why you are even playing a game that's set so far back in time. I mean you would think with all the technology we have now, fiddling around with with old stuff would just be boring.

but, Treyarch actually did a very nice job with this game. The campaign is actually engaging, and enjoyable to play through. The multiplayer is also great, as even though the guns are old, they are very fun to use, and you'll never feel like you are at a disadvantage, because all the guns are pretty crappy :P

That aside one of the biggest joys to this game is the addition of "Nazi Zombies". You and up to 3 of your friends can go into a game of waves after waves of zombies! You have to fend them off as long as you can while saving up money to buy weapons and perks. Some may say that this is one of the best Zombie games of all time!

~Final Review

if you like the WW2 time period, and enjoy first person shooters. You will LOVE this game.

Honest reviews on Call of Duty: World at War

I got the game a couple months ago, its very fun!!!

very bloody!!!!!!

i wouldn't suggest children under 12-13, heres why.... for example when you have a sniper rifle and you get a headshot the guys head comes off, and their neck is all torn up & bloody( :) ), if you shoot them in the stomache, well you get the picture.

Graphics are great, the guns are detailed,& also detailed bushes & trees & plants, not like call of duty 2 & 3.

You play as a marine & a russian soilder. in split screen you can play as a marine soilder, japanese soilder, german soilder, russian soilder.

The game also has a mode called ZOMBIES, its fun, they look chard up, they look like they have fire in their brain or what ever it is to make their eyes(they don't have eyes) glow orange/red.

HOPE THIS REVIEW HELPED YOU.

I'll break this review into 3 parts solo, co-op, and multiplayer.

Multiplayer this game has maybe the worst spawning engine ever in a first-person multiplayer. Several maps are so frustrating small that you will spawn and die many times. That said, there are a couple of brilliant maps, if you can handle the plethora of idiot kids. Also, you still get stuck on windowsils and railings when you jump over them. You can be shooting someone in the back, and then watch them turn around and kill you with a single shot. I know that there are many of you out there that will love it. I'm just not one of them. If you can't get spawning right, the rest is pretty irrelevant

Co-op This feature allows the playing of the solo missions with up to 3 other people. The maps are random, though. Don't play this before the solo campaign if you don't want storyline spoiler. While fun with a group, it would have been better, in my opinion, to at least have the ability to play the maps in order.

Solo The missions are variable and interesting, but you're still surrounded by the same band of worthless idiots that plague most squad games. If you think that your fellow NPCs will lift a finger to maybe kill the enemy that is destroying you, think again. Every objective feels like it's you against the entire German and/or Japanese army.

The graphics are on par for what you should expect for a game on a next-gen console. They aren't bad, they aren't awesome, they're just average. If you aren't into the multiplayer, rent it over a long weekend and you'll come out ahead. It's entertaining, but the flaws show the same inconsistencies of COD4. My expectations must be too high for this 1st person shooter, as it seems like more of the same.

BLAZING ANGELS 2: SECRET MISSIONS is a drop dead gorgeous game...with some of the most exciting airplanes ever invented...or NOT invented. Its a "what if" World War 2 scenario, pitting your team of Allied pilots in desperate missions against Axis "super weapons of the air". Its a lot like "Crimson Skies"...and is a graphic joy. That being said, its almost incredibly hard. The missions are multi-part, and are sometimes so vague or confusing as to their goals, that you die or run out of the time-limits many too many times. Some missions mix straight forward bombing and strafing missions with incredibly difficult precision attack targets. Its fun, its challenging, but I found it ultimately frustrating. Now I'm an "older" gamer, and my reflexes are not up to the younger "Top Guns"...so if you're a hot fighter jock, pick up "Blazing Angels 2"...you'll enjoy the challenge.

Blazing Angels 2 Secret Missions is in essence a World War II flight simulator game but in addition to authentic planes they toss in experimental planes, broadening your horizons. We played through the full game multiple times, it really was great fun.

The missions all have their main objectives find the lost woman, shoot down the train, but they also have secondary objectives to encourage you to go back and replay the missions to track them all down. We found the game very replayable and enjoyed multiple passes on the same levels, trying new techniques or faster times.

The graphics are quite impressive, from forested hills to ice flows in a frozen sea. The details on the planes is impressive as well and with the variety available you do appreciate having a nice rendering to look at.

The game definitely isn't easy. You have to do some very precise flying to get through some of the levels, and I can see how someone new to this type of game could get frustrated. The key is to be patient and practice.

Above all, this game is *fun*. There are many other games I play which are frustrating when you're doing poorly and you just want to get them over with. When you do well it hardly seems worth it. With this one, you pour hours into it because you really do get a sense that you're achieving something, you're getting better, your skills are improving, you are reaching objectives. The fast thinking and hand-eye coordination really are useful in the "real world".

The characters are enthusiastic, the music is stirring, the graphics draw you into the world and the enemies are a challenge, but in a good way. They help you hone your skills and improve.

We really enjoyed this game a great deal, and look forward to any new releases from this set of developers. Well recommended!

Well, graphics wise this game looks very nice. It's def. a upgrade from BL1 due to the fact you can completely customize your aircrafts. You can change the colors, icons, and even unlock "parade" or "special" paints for them. Of course beating the game all the way through and getting ace on each mission will unlock every aircraft but you can also unlock weapons. The game progresses from props to jets like in the first one but now you can homing missiles and when you choose your aircraft you can equip them to make for easier air combat (but doesn't change ground combat).

You are also able to buy upgrades to your aircrafts from the points you recieve from missions. Like: more armor, stronger weapons, smarter teamates, higher scores, etc... I found this game to be great do to the fact the customization of everything which the first blazing angels lacked.

However, what comes with great has to come with bad in this game. Some people look for great cinematics with games and a great story line. I will give the game props for being creative with what the germans "might have or might not have" done and the aircraft but the cinematics are frustrating cause they make it like a chincy comic look (frame by frame). Highly annoying for the people similar to me that like to sit back and enjoy some nice graphics/story line/and great cinematics (kinda like a reward for your achievement of completing a couple of hard missions).

I found this game (like the first one), once you get use to the aircraft and controls again its fun and easy. Also, the main thing i CANNOT knock this game for is the ability to land and take off which most other flying games don't have. The first one had it and they kept it in this one. Good job on you for that. So overall this game is great and i'm rating it a 4 but don't look forward to anything visually interesting between missions.

Honest reviews on Blazing Angels 2 Secret Missions -Xbox 360

First off, the graphics in this game are great. The game play/plot line is well thoughtout. I have not had a chance to play multiplayer yet, but I suspect is will meet or exceed my expectations. Controls are not complicated, and in a short period of time (20 minutes), it becomes natural.

A few of the downsides are, it is a longer game to play. Even seasoned players can expect to spend a few weeks to beat the game. Some games can be beaten in a few hours, this one cannot. There could be a little more description of weapons/features in the game, it is kind of left open what each feature will do/what upgrade will do.

Over all, one of the better flying games out there, and it also offers historical accuracy (from what I know of WWII).

As someone who cleared Ace Combat 6 on Ace difficulty without blinking, I somewhat cockily expected Blazing Angels 2 to be a cakewalk. Instead, Ubisoft did as they always do they made a drop-dead gorgeous game that's wicked hard.

This is a true heart-of-war game. Hold onto your Spitfire throttle, the action starts from the get-go and is pretty unrelenting. The missions themselves are challenging enough to keep even veteran game fliers frustrated at times, so if you're looking for a casual sky-shooter you should probably consider another game. That said, between the missions, the "stunts" (which really aren't, but are goals to collect), and sharp play control, BA2 has a long life for play and replay.

Furthermore, it's one of the only flying games with a local multi-player option, which is a huge selling point in my book. If your friend's not there to play, your AI wingmen are capable of handling their own (with a little direction now and then), which is also a major selling point.

The use of an upgrade system, fully customizable plane skins, and the aforementioned stunts keep the game fresh and relevant for replay. My only real issues is that the controls are not fully customizable, and are a little awkward coming from other console flying games (at least on XB360). BA2 is also not compatible with the flight stick, so if using the core controller to fly will bother you, you've been warned. Lastly, the space between checkpoints in missions are sometimes very long, and you can find yourself putting 10, 20, or more minutes in only to be shot down and have to start over. And by "can" I mean "will".

Blazing Angels 2 has a depth, challenge, feel, and beauty to it that other gamemakers should look to for inspiration. Seriously. Just know going into it, this game isn't for the casual player.

"The Grinch" gameboy game is very interesting and fun. But I can not pass level 3. Cindy-Lou is throwing snowballs! I capture all the presents but can't leave! I try to shoot her with a snowball but she is too quick!

Well... forget that! This game is really fun! Get it for Grinch fans!

this is another stealth game by Konami but with The Grinch instead of Solid Snake, it plays just like the Gameboy Color Metal Gear Solid game, you sneak around trying to steal presents, get crazy gadgets and so on, this type of game is perfect on the handheld because you can play it in short spurts

I bought this game for my 5 year old daughter and she loves it! I woulda given it 5 stars, but I have the problem of not getting past level 3 myself and it makes me addicted. WAAAAHHHHH!!!

I used to play this on playstation (one) quite a number if years ago... Getting back into some throwback games with my GBA SP that supposedly plays original game boy games... It arrived and I was excited to start playing right away, didn't turn on after numerous tries. I was disappoint and too busy to find time to get to a post office to send back.

I love this game! You play as the Grinch (the manual reads you can play as Max too, but I haven't gotten to him yet) I also have the Nintendo DS version (that one you only play as the Grinch)! I plan on getting the PS1 version too. I've heard people hated that one but who cares, I'm getting it anyway! Overall, this is a really great game! But geez is it hard! The one level you play as Max they expect you to get 50 something presents while Dobermans try to get you (You know the breed that Alpha from Pixar's Up is). I can't get away that fast. Why can't Max just snag presents and that's it, why have Dobermans chase you?!
