I bought 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand the day it was released. And I must say that it was a solid purchase.

From the moment I opened the package and slipped the disc into my Xbox 360, I was drawn into the action. Simply put, I just could not stop playing, not even for dinner.

The game does have a built in map, via an on screen pointer system that is very efficient and trustworthy. In other words, I found it very hard to get lost in this game.

The only thing I did not like about this game is the almost excessive use of language. I would have preferred if THQ had included a feature where I could censor the langauage, but since this was not an option, I was forced to play the game with my head phones on whenever my 7-year old was around.

But with great graphics, sound effects, and new hard hitting tracks from 50 Cent and his G Unit, as well as straight on solid controls, this game has been much improved over it's "Bulletproof" predecessor.

All-in-all, this game was a MUST buy, and a solid addition to my Xbox 360 collection.

Look, the story is bogus bs and the action is the over the top and not believable at all. But......um.....who cares! This game rocks because its so much fun to play. Great soundtrack, buku guns, and exploding terrorists flying each and every way. What more could my tiny violent heart want. Oh, did I metion the fact ur able to shell out pre-recorded 50 cent spoken insults at will by clicking one the joysticks. The perfect 3rd person shooter to take a break from all the melo-dramatic way too serious games out there today.

If you've played the Club before then you will see the similarity in this game. It's like the Club with a sequel featuring 50 Cent in an actual adventure/story mode. The gameplay and some of the task/missions are just like the Club. From similar killing combos to finding the hidden bullseye targets during the levels. The Graphics are actually pretty sweet if you play it in HD. There's tons of cussing during gameplay and during cinemas. Wouldn't be 50 if it wasn't. Not a serious storyline but a decent one if it were a low budget "B" movie. I don't know if 50 had any part to do with the story or not, but if he did it seems like to me maybe he picked up some of the idea from the movie Home of The Brave that he starred in. But anyway the controls are pretty good. You may notice a few Gears of War moves used in the game (recovering your partner, vehicle stage) Army of Two weapon upgrade. (What, No pimped out weapons?) and a few up close battles from the bourne conspiracy game. The up close fights were not as advanced as the bourne conspiracy but similar. Overall it's a good action game to pick up for anyone who has mastered Gears of War or The Club and has a itchy finger to pull a trigger. This would be the game to play until a better 3rd person shooter comes out. Even better if you can find it on sale cheaper than $50. A good 3rd person action shooter worth looking into.

Honest reviews on 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand

This is one of those games that don't get the props that it should, all due to the protagonist and the some what ridiculous premise of the story. But putting aside the main character and the fact that he's rapping in some cartel infested town in the middle of who knows where, the game actually delivers an action pack that is hard not to like.

You follow the steps of 50 cent after money is owed to him, at your side, you can chose to have a side kick, which unlike many games out there, does not act like dumbed AI that gets in your cross hairs. The game's mechanics and playability are well balanced and I can honestly say I didn't get frustrated once throught out the campaing. You will encounter small challenges that are easy to acomplish, I won't spoil the game for you, so I'll move onto other aspects of the game.

Sound wise, the game is decent, the soundtrack playing on the background, as you would guess, is 50 Cent material, which is pretty good, and I'm not that big on rap. You will hear your sidekick say "fitty, over here!" time and time again, but, it wasn't irritating at all, it was actually helpful when you don't know where to go next, which wasn't the case very often. If you have a surround system, lower the sound effects and voice, so you can hear the rap music a bit louder; by default, the music is played at a subtle level, it doens't interfere with the game's other sound effects. But, I did find myself having the music louder, because I really enjoyed shooting fools to rap tunes.

Graphics are a mixed bag, 50 cent is ugly by default, so not much they could do there; backgrounds were a bit washed out and characters as well, but overall, the game looks surprisingly good.

Controls are perfect, you've got your standard aim down the sights and shoot, covering, blind shooting and CQC.

In conclusion, this is one of those shooters that are easy to pick up and enjoy for a quick gaming session; it is mindless fun (in a good way). If you still have doubts, rent it first, but I know you'll like it as much as I do and will end up buying it, like I did. Hope this helps

i Liked Bulletproof for xbox...this game is kind of Exactly the same. the shooting is Arcade (think The Club/Gears of War) but its just FUN to shoot through the levels with a partner Online in CO-OP mode...which does add to the games Replay and Overall Value. the music fits the action perfectly. if your a Fan of 50 cents music, youll love it. i think the MUSIC tied into the experience of the game is what makes it slightly better than Some arcade shooting games out there. one thing i DIDNT like about the game is the hand to hand fighting sequences...which are Very Slow...this is VERY noticeable when playing CO-OP and watching your partner engage in the Slowest fist fight youv ever seen take place in your life. but like i said, thats the Only issue i found with it. overall, this is a Fun, Casual shooting game you can just pick up and play. if your into Rap Music and Arcade Shooting Games, you should definitely Try this game out. IMO, its up there with Gears of War, Call Of Duty and the like...and slightly more Fun than those titles as well.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program We were hoping the Atlantic VG Spyder TV/Gaming Hub would be a good solution for our bedroom entertainment and gaming setup. We have had our 40 inch LCD HDTV set up on our dresser, as our walls cannot handle a wall mount. We had our PS3 and Wii, along with our bedroom DVR set up on a table next to the dresser, and it was pretty cluttered. Unfortunately, there is no room on the Spyder gaming hub for our DVR, but the rest of the setup is now all contained within the hub.

Unpacking the parts from the box was a breeze, and initial setup took about 30 minutes. I did need to have ample space for setting it up, but it was pretty straight forward. Just make sure you leave the screws relatively loose when constructing it so they have some wiggle room before tightening them at the end of setup.

Most of the parts seem sturdy enough. The brackets that connect to your TV seem very stable, but the main frame of the hub seems like it could have been reinforced a little better than it is. Still, it claims to support up to a 42 inch TV and seems stable enough with our 40 inch, so I can't complain too much. The fact that you can angle your TV after setting it up is nice, just make sure you have a firm hold on it and move slowly to avoid tipping the entire thing over.

I do have a few complaints about the Spyder hub. First and most importantly is that our TV is extremely low to the floor on the hub's highest level. Previously, we had it more than a foot higher than it is right now. I suppose this won't bother some people, especially if you're just going to use it for lazy sofa gaming, or with a gaming rocker where you're already on the floor anyway. For us, this will take some getting used to. It's not a deal breaker by any means, but it would have been nice if they could have allowed for a bit more height. Second, we have a USB fan hooked up to our PS3 which we keep behind it to blow the hot air away from it. This has helped tremendously in keeping it cool, but there is not much room for it on the hub's platform. Also, it would have been nice to have a small barrier on the front of the platform and along the sides instead of in the back, to avoid small bumps from knocking the gaming systems over.

The guitar holders are probably the most flimsy element of the whole setup, being held together with only one screw, but they are kept in the back and out of the way so it's not a huge problem. The accessory basket only holds a couple PS3 or Wii controllers with no room for anything else. I don't see why this could not have been wider to allow for more storage. Also, there are only slots for 6 games, so for most of the target audience for this item it will not even come close to holding your entire gaming library.

I could see this being perfect for a college dorm, small room, or kid's gaming setup (as long as they're old enough not to play around with it, as it could tilt and fall over). If you're going to use this stand in an environment with small children running around, I'd highly recommend installing the wall strap that is included for an extra level of safety. For our purposes, the Spyder hub has succeeded in freeing up some bedroom space and consolidating some of our gaming elements into a nice, small area. It's not perfect I wish it had more height and storage space to it but it gets the job done. Consider whether it would be appropriate enough for your situation to justify the price. As long as you know what you're getting, you most likely won't be disappointed.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program At first glance, the Spyder Gaming Hub from Atlantic seems like a great option for consolidating your console gaming needs, but in reality, there really isn't anything too revolutionary here. It is easy to set up. It took less than 10 minutes out of the box. It is also very sturdy, and made of quality materials. I set up a 42" monitor on it and it seems to handle the weight very well. Those are about the only good qualities for it though. My main complaint is simply that the design isn't customized enough, and doesn't seem like it was designed by an actual gamer. The accessory basket is way too small, and doesn't hold enough games. Anyone purchasing this is going to own more than six games. While the game cart can be useful for holding six of your most-recently played games, the design seems like it should be able to easily accommodate an additional game rack underneath. The footprint is also a bit too big. I have a game case that sits on my floor, but the legs on the stand take up a lot of space, and their design makes it difficult to keep anything at the bottom of the stand. You can't see it from Amazon's picture, but there is an area in the back to hold a surge protector/power strip, however it will only accommodate a narrow power strip sitting flat. You can use a bigger strip in it if you sit it at an angle, but it's not very sturdy then and I had to bend back the supports to allow space for my larger power adapter blocks. There is a hook on the back for cable management, but it would have made much more sense to have the cables run down through the stand so they are completely hidden from view. I am a perfectionist when it comes to cables and I don't want to be able to see cables running down it from the front of the stand. It should be seamless and this should be an easy thing to accomplish. I ended up wrapping my cables in electrical tape around the post to hide them. You can rotate the monitor 120 degrees, but there is no tilt. The height is somewhat adjustable, but not enough to counter the lack of tilt. Sitting on the floor is not really an option. Finally, the stand just doesn't look that nice. Initially I had it set up in my den, but the aesthetics are more suited to a playroom, and even then I wouldn't use bit around children because of the potential to topple over. It's not very likely to fall, especially if you use the strap to secure the back to a stud, but with a large TV and the way children play, I wouldn't feel comfortable using it.

For the price, you can get much better consoles that are better-suited to gamers.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The stand looks very modern and is very sturdy. Mesh type shelf helps ensure adequate air ventilation for the electronics. I like the see-thru design of the basket.

The guitar holders do not have to be attached if not needed. There are three height settings for the TV, and TV screen can be freely swiveled 90% (45 each way) without having to move the base. There is also an optional safety strap that can be attached to a nearby wall, which is great for anyone with kids prone to climbing up on things.

The assembly instructions are very clear and parts are clearly labeled. Unit includes large assortment of various sized bolts and nuts to ensure that the proper size is available to attach mounting brackets securely to your tv.

Honest reviews on Atlantic CD Case Spyder TV Gaming Stand

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This TV/gaming stand is adequate for its purpose but wouldn't be my first choice.

Good: It is sturdy and the design allows any gaming systems or other electronics placed within it to ventilate well. It also swivels 90 degrees which is useful.

Not so good: What about the speakers? It would be nice if it could accommodate audio output devices on the unit. I don't care for the guitar rack being on the unit it messes with the "Feng shui" or sleekness of the design to have a couple guitars hanging off the back of the unit.

Three stars.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is just a Gaming Stand has room just enough for the gaming console, and if gaming console is the only thing attached to your TV then this may be enough for you. There is no room to keep multiple media devices on this DVR, DVD player, Media players etc. And the finish is not polished enough for a family room or a living room. There are also not a whole lot of options to adjust the viewing position and angle of television. screen. It is fairly sturdy for a gaming stand.

The niche for this Gaming Stand is really a teenager's room or a dorm room where gaming console is pretty much the only device attached to a television.

I'm an old school 2d gamer at heart... no matter how much 3D you throw at me I still love classic games 2d gaming. The original Final Fight was one of my ALL TIME favorite arcade games and console games when it got ported over to the SNES and Sega CD. Plain simple fun.

Capcom has finally made a new Final Fight for us many years after we saw the last batch of games. (FF1-FF3 on SNES, Final Fight Revenge on Saturn). This version is completly 3d and features Kyle Travers (who would be Cody's brother) trying to find out what happened to his bro after Cody goes missing at the start of the game.

The gameplay involves you walking around different parts of Metro City talking to random NPC's who usually don't have anything of interest and beating thugs up along the way. You can also complete some small "side quests" along the way to finding Cody. The fighting itself is ok, nothing spectacular or new we haven't seen before. Music mostly consists of hiphop tracks and some run of mill sound effects. The voices and mini story clips which focus in on Kyle talking are one of my favorite parts of the game, most are humorus and were done well. The graphics definetly leave alot to be desired as they look pretty low scale most of the time being that the game doesnt even support 480p.

The game will have you run into people of Final Fight lore along the way which makes for some of the better parts of the game. Most of the thugs and goons you fight in this game don't compare to the classic thugs of the original, but hey they're just there to get beatup.

All in all, the game needed more polish before it got out the door, and I woudlnt recommend it to anyone who isn't a fan of Final Fight. The cameos and flashbacks to old school Metro City are what ties it in for me, just getting to bust some heads in Metro City again just like back in 1990.

As info, the only way to save the game is to select to "Quit" from the pause menu... it will then prompt you to save before exit. (Another little thing which Capcom should have dont differently..)

Final Fight goes inner city with Final Fight X Streetwise. The soundtrack is full of rough music, the scenes are concrete jungles with dirt and blood covered combatants.

There's a ton of swearing in this game, as well as hookers, drug dealers and just about every other miscreant type you can imagine. I enjoy the Grand Theft Auto series, so I'm not a goody-goody ... but it was a bit over the top here.

The graphics were very jumpy, with clipping problems and monotone objects. There were some nice interactivities, being able to pick up garbage cans for example. Still, the world felt very forced.

The sound is OK, although if this is going to be a story-driven game, they should have gone for better voice actors. Also, very strangely, the subtitles are usually off from what is being said. The soundtrack sounded like a cheezy version of a gangster / mobster movie.

I think in general that was the problem with most of the game. You could see where they were coming from, and it might have been a ton of fun, but it's just not quite there. Maybe they needed more time in development. The sound is OK but not great. The graphics are OK but not great. The storyline ... ditto.

I'd rent this one first, to see if you get drawn in, before you buy it.

This game advertises all this stuff about how great it is, but it honestly isn't. I bought it to play with my boyfriend, and even he didn't like it. He is like Mikey, he likes anything.

The graphics are choppy, the story is okay until it deviates into this weird part about people with glowing eyes, and the music isn't all that great.

This is just my opinion, and I suggest you rent this game before you buy it.

Best Ghosts of Onyx (Halo) Mass Market Paperback Deals

Ghosts of Onyx
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

As usual, Eric Nylund delivers.

Lets face it. If you are a huge Halo universe fan, 'Ghosts of Onyx' is a must-read. The games don't give you the full picture of what's going on in the Halo-verse. Without reading the books (of which there are now four), you'll never know the full story behind the genesis of the SPARTAN project, Master Chief's origin, what started the conflict between us and the Convenant or the scope of the Forerunner's domain.

And if you are like me, you were pretty annoyed with the ending of Halo 2 and MC's cryptic statement "I'm finishing this fight, sir."

'Ghosts of Onyx' brings you up to speed with what's been happening to the other SPARTAN warriors whilst MC galavants around the galaxy throwing monkeywrenches in the Covenant's plan for universal suicide. He details the creation of yet another SPARTAN unit (the SPARTAN III) from orphans left behind by our war with the Covenant. He brings back some familiar characters from his previous Halo novels (Dr. Halsey, Col. Ackerman) and continues his penchant for giving these brave SPARTAN warriors overly simplistic names like Tom, Kelly and Kurt.

If yer a Halo fan, you'll be pleased as punch. Maybe its a bad thing that to get the full picture of the Halo-verse, you simply have to read the Halo books. But hey, it'd be kinda hard to cram all of that narrative between every reload of your assault rifle. Me? I'm of the mind that anything that gets you to read is inherently good. Maybe this series will get a few kids to drop their XBox360 controllers and head to a bookstore.

This book whetted my Halo appetite, if only for a little while. Finishing 'Ghosts of Onyx', you feel as if we are one step closer to finishing the fight.

EPIC. yes yes that's the word. This book is packed with action, packed so hard that you'll trip! Picked it up yesterday and could not stop reading it. For those of you who have read the first three books, you will not be disappointed. This book will answer some key unanswered questions. Love the way Eric Nylund describes the battle/fight scenes, the intensity of fire fights and the brotherhood of SPARTANS. Stories of courage, valor and heroism from the farthest reaches of space. Rock on!

Other books you should read first or you'll be lost:

Book 1: Fall of Reach

Book 2: The Flood

Book 3: First Strike

Book 4: Ghosts of Onyx

Best Deals for Ghosts of Onyx (Halo) Mass Market Paperback

This book is great. The action and fight scenes come to life in you mind. Eric's mastery of describing a characters emotions and thought is perfect. This is a must read for all Halo and non-Halo fans. Can not wait for the next one!

Honest reviews on Ghosts of Onyx (Halo) Mass Market Paperback

Honestly what can I say that already hasn't been said about this book? The writing is superb. Anybody remotely thinking about passing on this one because its major connection to a videogame property should think twice.

This is exactly the type of book that after you read you wish you are alive long enough for there to be a movie on the exact same subject matter you just finished reading or if that is too out of reach you atleast want as many people to read it as possible so they can (like you) understand just how great a piece of work it truly is. This is coming from someone that has never touched any of the Halo Novels, but I'm thoroughly impressed and because of this I plan to go back and read the previous entries into the series by Eric Nylund.

You get a take on the story from so many different perspectives its the complete package. You get to experience the story from the perspective of the Spartans, various UNSC ships and troops, Covenant, the genius that is Dr. Halsey.. just there is an all around variety to this book that I love. Now after becoming so impressed with what was happening with a specific group of characters naturally you'll be a bit disappointed when they go away from that group and start concentrating on another group, but as you read it becomes more clear as to why the author chose to present you with their perspective and you'll come to appreciate their inclusion.

This book will get you to care about the characters and what is going on the universe. this book firmly puts Halo up there with the best of them if there were any doubts before. The Halo universe can be just as popular if not more so than the likes of Star Wars. It really does feel fresh, interesting and new. When I say this book will get you care about the characters and everything going on around them I really do mean that. Without spoiling too much there is one character in particular that will leave you in awe and command your utmost respect and that is Kurt.

I may have singled him out, but that doesn't mean there wont be many other characters that you find yourself thoroughly impressed by, but Kurt's character will blow you away. This book is vivid, emotional and full of action. If there is anyone out there that is remotely interested in the games they'd be a complete fool to not read this book. I know there are some people that don't like to read, but I firmly believe that after reading this book it will be the catalyst that convinces you that books are just as entertaining if not more so than television.

This in my opinion is a great book and when a book is very well written there are things that you can get from a book that you can't get from a game or television and sometimes its the very simple practice of seeing how a writer describes what is going on in a scene of their book that really sells the vision to you tenfold and its so well done that at so many critical points during your reading you just have to stop and tell someone around you how great this book is or atleast read a specific part of the book to them.

So again let me finish off by saying you WILL care about the universe of this book, you WILL care about the characters and you WILL be tempted more aggressively as you progress through the book to keep on going even when you think its time to stop, but the book is so good that it gripts you and you WILL most certainly want more.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Ghosts of Onyx (Halo) Mass Market Paperback

Please let me explain. I wish there was a 4.5 star selection. Eric Nylund is one of the best writers out there. He has that "I can't put this book down" touch to his novels. The Fall of Reach was an awesome read, and it had so much information. So did First Strike. You never felt lost, and you always had a grasp of what was happening, where it was happening, and who it was happening to.

Ghosts of Onyx was a good read, with that hard to put down effect. I feel as though the book was a little lacking on the new information, and also stretched out. Sure it gave us new information about "things" (im not going to spoil it for you!!!), but it took those "things" and drew it out too long.

Also, the book was 380ish pages, but the book itself was bigger, and the font was gigantic compared to the other two, so it's a faster read.

Please don't think of this as a negative review, because it's not, I'm just allowing you the luxury of knowing what you are getting when you read it!

Thanks! Chris

I purchased this game and received the competing game Rugby Challenge 2011 (RC 2011) for my birthday on the same day, so I am able to have a go at comparing Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011 the game being reviewed here) to the said RC 2011.

RC 2011 (the other game), has more polished graphics, heaps of competition, club teams and customisation options. However, I believe that this game (RWC 2011) has smoother open play, better flow in the passing mechanism, better defending and more natural use of attacks or breaks over the advantage line. The line outs, rucks and scrums have more options in the other game. I have yet to see a driving maul in this game (I'd played both games for quite a few hours each, at the time of writing this review). RWC 2011 is limited to the 20 teams that qualified for the 2011 tournament.

Unfortunately, the licensing for player and team likenesses do not extend to the New Zealand or Australian teams, as these were snapped up by RC 2011). However, most of the other teams teams have all the authentic player names and you can edit any of the player names and statistics to your hearts content, but not their physical appearance.

This game doesn't have the same depth as RC 2011, but it does capture the Rugby World Cup atmosphere quite well (offical logo, crowd noises etc). You can either select the official draw for the World Cup, or randomly generate a new draw for more variation and replay value. You can also play one-off test matches and even go on northern or southern hemisphere tours.

The World Cup stadiums are presented in good style here, but are named by location, rather than actual stadium names

(offical names were snapped up by RC 2011). The game's graphics show a bit more polish than Rugby 08 which was released a few years ago. If you played Rugby 05, 06 or 08, then you'll find that the gameplay and control system are not too dissimilar to those games.

This review is based on my single player experience on the XBOX 360 (I haven't checked out multiplayer options at the time of writing this review).

UPDATE: There is the occasional driving maul in this game.

There wasn't too much to this game you can only do the Full Tournament (real Schedule or random schedule) Warm up tour, International Tests (exhibition) and Place Kick Shoot out. but all in all it's an ok experiance

Pros

The Tournament mode is great take a team from Pool Play and take them to the Fianls for the Web Ellis Cup. (i Played as Japan beat the Springboks 27-17 in the final to win the Web Ellis Cup)

-10 REAL Teams USA Eagles, Ireland, South Africa Springboks, Argentina Pumas, France, Scottland, Wales, Italy, Canada, and England Roses

the stratagies (ie Dummy and screen) are well played out

Cons

-Tournament mode is short and after you win the Web Ellis Cup there is literaly nothing left to accomplish.

The Tournament this year is in New Zealand yet no All Blacks team or the rival Wallabies.

No National Anthems/Team anthems if i play as Ireland i want to hear Irelands Call before i play some rugby

-Since the All Blacks aren't in the game there is no Haka War Dance before a New Zealand game (yes NZ does have a team but genaric)

-Stratigies could have been thought out better and deliverd better

all and all its ok but I recommend Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge(which i preorederd)

I purchased this game for my Son who is a big Rugby fan. He says the graphics are awesome and he loves the realistic game play. It's definately worth the money for Rugby fans.

Honest reviews on Rugby World Cup 2011 - Xbox 360

Finally a rugby title for Xbox 360. Game play is pretty good and feels like the flow of an actual rugby game. The breakdown is probably the part that is the least realistic. Generally, the better team maintains possession unless the opposition gets too agressive and gets called for a penalty.

Graphics are OK, seem a little rushed like they were scrambling to get this out in time for the actual world cup in September 2011. They are pretty weak when compared to something like Madden, but still OK. Just a little dated at times with backgrounds, etc. Not sure if it is a rights issue, but most (all?) of the players look nothing like their real-life counterparts (Paul O'Connell has brown hair for example). All in all, however, it is fun to play and, if you are a rugby fan, well worth getting.

Works great, but remember you need to connect a normal controller to the Xbox as well to use it. You need a normal controller to access menus and etc. The Xbox wont recognize the mic as a controller when you plug it in (it wont light up one of the quarters of the circle) but dont panic, its working fine.

I purchased this Guitar Hero World Tour microphone to go with the 2 wireless guitars I have and my rockband drum set. I really like how it is compatible with both Guitar Hero and Rockband and use it with both games. I would prefer it better if it were wireless, but it otherwise works great. It has the weight of a real mic and is used in conjunction with the controller. All I need now is a mic stand and a rocker attitude to go with it.

this is a logitech mic, its the same high quality mic thats sold on amazon for 20 or more bucks. except that it has the words "guitar hero" on it.

so it would be wise to purchase this mic over other usb logitech mics, except if you want a logitech mic for picking up sound from far away, this mic is best for playing rock band and guitar hero with no lag. it works on the computer too, but its a close range microphone, so it is only ideal for giving a speech, singing, the idea is that you need to hold it close to your mouth for it to pick up sound which makes sense cause it is to prevent feedback, thinks like desktop mics and built in laptop mics or surveillance systems are different types of mics that pic up sound far away.

We needed an additional mic for Wii Rock Band and we were already using the one that came with Rock Band and one that came with Guitar Hero. We figured this one would work great so we could have 3 singers with Green Day and The Beatles. Works wonderful and makes family night a blast since now have 3 singers, 1 drummer and 2 guitars going at the same time :)

This microphone is exactly like the one you receive when first purchasing World Tour Guitar Hero. It easily plugs into the usb ports on the front of the PS3 and works right away with no tinkering.

The mic came within 5 days of ordering in a small package that fit in my mailbox, which was perfect since I wasn't home to get it right away.

Visuals-90/100(Great art style make for a great looking game)

Story-87/100 (Smartly written, funny, and features a lot of personality)

Sound-88/100 (Great voice acting and moody music compliment the experience)

Game play-94/100(Borderlands 2's RPG elements jell together with a very playable game)

Replay Value-93/100 (A lengthy game, co-op, and much more make for a game you will play over and over again)

When Borderlands was released back in 2009, it surprised everyone with it's unique hybrid of shooting and role playing. Borderlands was definitely unique, and personally, I thought it was the first true RPG/FPS hybrid. Sure, there were games like System Shock 2 beforehand, but SS2 isn't so much a shooter as it is an action role playing survival horror hybrid, and from a FPS standpoint, it's actually horribly repetitive and clunky. But Borderlands combined Diablo-style looting and frantic FPS combat, all the while providing for some of the most intense and satisfying gun play in a shooter. Borderlands was definitely a breath of fresh air in the FPS market, and it's a darn shame we don't have more games in the genre like it. Now, Borderlands is back with this top notch sequel, and the series is better than ever.

I won't say too much about the single player experience, but given the amount of missions available, it seems Borderlands 2 will provide a lengthy, satisfying experience. I'm not finished with the game yet, but I can tell that it isn't going to end any time soon. People who have beaten it already have said the game will take around 30 hours to complete, so single player fans will be satisfied. From what I gather, numerous reviewers are saying that you will want to play through the entire game more than once (!) as well, thanks in part to it's diverse skill classes. Even better, Borderlands 2 now let's you play the entire game with all of your stats in tow, so expect some heady replay value for single player.

As we all know, the story for Borderlands was extremely forgettable. That's not to say the single player campaign didn't have merit, it most certainly did. The art design was nice, Pandora was occasionally a vivid location, and some of the encounters you faced made for some memorable gaming moments. That said, the characters were extremely forgettable (aside from the awesome Claptrap), and the plot line was about as memorable as watching a modern artist craft a generic sculpture out of toilet roll tubes. Borderlands 2, on the other hand, actually had me invested with it's sharp writing and quirky sense of humor, and some of the people you meet in the game will have you reeling with startling surprise. It's mission structure is so far interesting, and the encounters so far have all been memorable. I won't spoil too much, but let me just say that the creatures here will provide you with a sense of being; you will see them as creatures of fiction, not cannon fodder.

Perhaps the biggest part of the game's success as a story is the vivid recreation of Pandora. Video Game developers know that building a world is one of the best ways to tell a story, especially in a First Person Game (just look at Half-Life). It's easily one of the video game medium's biggest strengths, and Borderlands 2 knows this. Borderlands 2 is a great space western experience, with a mood that recalls a comic book if it were hijacked by space western writers. Of course, the famous Borderlands 2 art style is back, and it provides for an awesome artistic foundation for Borderlands 2's vivid recreation of Pandora. And Pandora is beautiful! Borderlands 2 won me over with it's cell shaded, mood setting skies (Yes. Skies), glistening tundras, jagged mountains, colorful vivid industrial areas, and other locations. It's better looking than anything such garbage as "photo-realism" ever will be able to achieve. You see, folks (*cough* as well as certain 2K executive *cough*)? This is what happens when you get away from "realism"! An antidote to the lifeless drudgery of puke browns and vapid grays; the overall dreary, narcolepsy inducing experience. Thanks for this, Borderlands 2 is more of a beaut than Battlefield 3 will ever be.

The Sound track is also very beautiful. The soundtrack truly makes the space western mood they were going for. Great sound effects and voice acting follow suit.

Now, to game play. The basic game play concepts remain the same. Choose a skill class, start building your character and then loot n' gain (experience points, that is)! With loot and experience points, you have the potential to help yourself to a seemingly endless number of play styles, equipment and, of course, guns. Loads upon loads of guns. If you are familiar with the original (and you should be), you will know that the basic core intents of the game play remain the same. However, what Borderlands 2 offers new is what we all want to know. Does it offer something new? Is this Borderlands 2 or Borderlands 1.5? This is Borderlands 2. And aside from it's vastly superior story and setting, Borderlands 2 adds great game play additions that pushes the series forward, and leaves the first game in the dust.

The biggest addition to Borderlands 2 is the revamped skill classes. Character builds are deeper than ever, and much more rewarding than before. Since this is one of the biggest pros of Borderlands 2, it's nice to say that the is better than ever. The biggest change here is that each skill tree feels way more diverse, something the original was lacking. As you pick from four different skill classes, you can use each class to your advantage. Each class has it's own unique abilities, such as Zero's invisible stealth, the Salvador's ability to dual-wield anything, the Axion's ability to use turrets, and Maya's ability to freeze. Beyond the leveling up of your special abilities, the skill trees you build are diverse and the skills you invest in add a much better sense of personal, much more satisfying combat that suits you well. You can add all sorts of abilities, from more helpful defensive skills to offensive based powers like a Borderlands 2 has some real depth to your play style, and it's combination of great combat and true RPG elements makes for a truly great RPG and shooting hyrbid. All of this is aided by a much improved interface that makes the game more playable than before.

As you defeat enemies, you can upgrade the powers of the class, which is rewarded through looting and the gaining of experience points. Bad *cool* points make for some great bonuses, as they augment most other powers rather well. Most importantly, Borderlands 2 rewards you with guns and the ability to use an endless number of weapons, and it's addictive and rewarding as ever. You all know the drill, and it's even better than the first game. The ability to customize EVERYTHING (yes, all caps for a reason), from common features like re-load, to giving your own gun acid, makes sure that you can get creative with whatever gun you want to make. I'm not quite there making the ultimate gun that puts the BFG to shame, but according to what I've heard, anything is possible, including such crazy weapons as a pistol with ammo that doubles as a grenade dispenser, and I'm pretty sure that's not as crazy as it gets. Borderlands 2 proves that you can never have enough weapons, and they ensure that you will never feel empty-handed. Superior AI and a diverse range of enemies round out the experience.

All of this translates to the multi-player extremely well. Borderlands 2 offers four-player co-op, and it succeeds thanks in part to the great game mechanics. Using each character class, you can truly uses each one to their strengths to help out each team mate, in a way that sort of reminds me of Team Fortress 2. One can really get creative if you mix things up and assign certain levels, and since enemies get tougher as you play the game, it becomes vital and more challenging as you go along. Aided by it's diverse abilities, each skill class truly can add something unique to every play through, making for some rewarding and challenging combat that has the potential to be unique for every band of four. Like a good RPG should do, you can actually join in anytime, which makes the game even better so you don't have to commit to a whole game together. It makes game play extremely flexible, and it makes for some of the most accessible and playable multi-player experiences I've played in quite a while.

I do have a few, eh, issues, however. There are some minor graphics hitches here and there, but as long as you don't give all bent out of shape over some pop in textures or the occasional weird visual hiccup, you shouldn't have much trouble over looking this, uh, issue? You still can't really change the appearance of your character as much, which isn't that big a loss but definitely can be a tad disappointing if you really enjoy customizing your character. Oh, and car combat is mostly underused, as you won't find either a glut of vehicle based missions, or some fun car combat a la Rage. Thankfully, most of these niggling issues are minor.

Other than that, this game is just terrific. I don't know much else to say here, but if you are a fan of Borderlands, this is not just a mere revision, it's a whole new great game. Personally, I really don't find myself every playing the original Borderlands ever again, and it's definitely a stand out in the cluttered FPS genre that exists today. It's got humor, it's got replay value, it's got role-playing, it's got terrific gun play, and it's got enough things to do to keep you hooked for days. Needless to say, if you like Borderlands, you want this one. Easily. Go get it.

The first question people will likely ask is, "Does this game live up to the high water mark hit by BL1 and DLC?" and that answer is a resounding "Yes!"

The second question asked, "Is it better than BL1?" and the answer is "Yes...for the most part."

So what's improved?

Better gun mechanics (sound, feel and diversity), more humor, more frequent boss and sub-boss battles, easier to get a co-op game going and see who's online playing, character skill trees are improved (more focused on your play style than there being clearly better skills to pursue), friends can select quests in co-op games rather than having to tell the "party leader" to do it, grenades are much more useful with some nice variety, the new enemies are well designed (not only are there more, but a few can do things like level up or heal other bad guys), you can now dismember baddies, you can now tag items in your inventory as "trash" or "favorite" so you remember what to sell next time at the vending machine, you can now directly trade with people, you automatically pick up money and ammo (but thankfully not loot), combat is more organic (enemies take cover, flank you, dodge attacks), there are tons of missions (took me 40+ hours to finish the game having completed all but a couple side quests) and perhaps my favorite improvement, you can now move around while in "Fight For Your Life" mode meaning you'll no longer die while stuck behind cover. Also of note, single player is much more enjoyable this time around. There's less down time, more dialogue and the enemies/environments allow for better individual strategy.

So what are the negatives?

The new menus are clunky and difficult to parse (everything is on a slight angle making it tough to read and navigate), while missions have more dialogue and humor they still consist of mostly "shoot that" or "find this" objectives, driving mechanics are about the same (though thankfully you don't take damage from hitting enemies as much), while you can set a waypoint on the map your co-op buddies can't see the same waypoint and sometimes there's simply too much dialogue happening simultaneously. For example if you're playing co-op the first big town you get to is a total cluster as multiple characters are introducing themselves at the same time, or enemy dialog and gunfine easily drowns out character/story related dialogue. This is sometimes incredibly frustrating since you feel like you're missing out on a crucial plot detail or funny quip. Also, for about the first 12-15 hours the environments are a little too similar, but that changes as you continue to progress through the game. That said, these are only minor complaints and the additions far outweigh the handful of small issues.

Recommendation?

If you loved the first BL you'll love this one! The game does start a little slow, but once you get going its clear this game is superior to BL1 in most regards. If you flat out didn't enjoy the first game I'm not sure you'd enjoy the sequel, but if you've been on the fence there's enough improvement in details, mechanics, humor, enemy diversity and feel to both single & multiplayer modes to warrant a second look.

If Quentin Tarantino made a Spaguetti Western, post-apocalyptic-esque video game, this would be it. I can't believe how much fun this game actually is. Even if you're like me and didn't play the first Borderlands, don't pass this one up so quickly. Where do I start?

GAMEPLAY: if you aren't familiar with BL, the best way to explain this is to take the addicting looting system of Diablo and combine it with the basic elements of an FPS, throwing in some RPG via an inventory and skill tree. That's essentially the mechanics of the game, and it all slams together so well here. You have four basic classes to choose to play from, and each class has three paths to focus on in a skill tree -this means there's plenty of variation to play. In addition to these basic mechanics, the game is open-world, though it may feel semi-linear as you can only explore on an area-by-area basis (think the opposite of an Elder Scrolls game, where you can walk around the entire map without hitting a loading screen until accessing a dungeon). I have to say, with combining so many of our favorite gaming formulas, this game has so many highlights. Sometimes I felt like I was playing something akin to Skyrim. Other times, the ambiance of a specific area or the design of a specific feature reminded me of BioShock. And sometimes certain things brought me back to my Fallout 3 days. However, I never forgot I was playing a completely new adventure that easily whisked me away for hours in the unique and captivating world of Pandora. Lastly, I can't forget the guns. No joke, there are millions of guns you can find. It is so satisfying to find a ridiculous weapon and destroy enemies for the next three hours with it, only to find another weapon that is even better.

SETTING: Speaking of Pandora, it really is a fascinating world. Having a post-apocalyptic feeling yet retaining a notes of being futuristic, there are so many different areas to access. Sometimes you'll be exploring an underground cave full of chemicals. At other times, you'll be questing in a town that feels like it belongs in the Wild West after a nuclear fallout. It's crazy, and I doubt you'll be bored quickly.

STORY: one thing many BL veterans mentioned is the lack of a good narrative beyond funny one-liners in the original game. Like I said I never played Borderlands 1, but I can tell you that in BL 2 the characters are memorable, the writing is well-thought out and downright hilarious, and the story moves at a great pace with scenes of great emotion and other scenes of great sarcasm. This is all coming from a guy who is used to epic stories from Final Fantasy or Mass Effect. Also, be sure to keep your ears peeled while you fight the various enemies. They say and do some hilarious things themselves. But seriously, the writing is just super clever. I mean, what other game has a quest called, "Rocko's Modern Strife"? Classic!

REPLAYABILITY: with the various classes and varying skill trees, there is already plenty of incentive to reboot a new game or two... Or three. However, in addition to these, once you beat the game you open up more challenging modes that guarantee both tougher enemies and significantly better loot. Also, there are a healthy amount of side quests in here to help you clock in the hours that make AAA games a great bang for your buck. If you're a completionist like me, you'll probably spend 50+ hours on your first playthrough. No joke. Or, you can try a different character, pump through the story to get to the better game modes, then spend all your hours doing the side quests and finding the best loot. There are so many possibilities!

One note -definitely not a game for kids. The gratuitous gore would scar small children, and the extremely crass sense of humor means it's not a good idea to give this to a kid/teen who probably wouldn't understand half the jokes anyway. Just saying, parents, be smart and know what your kids are playing!

In conclusion, this is one heck of a game. I feel that it combines the best of so many game genres into a single FPS while adding in a memorable story that motivates you to find out what happens next. Of course, you'll be laughing your face off the entire way.

Honest reviews on Borderlands 2 - Xbox 360

Short version at the bottom:

I'm sorry to admit that I never played the first part of the series, but I have considered trying it out on the hopes that it's even half as good as Borderlands 2. This game stands pretty solidly on two the most important pillars of game development (that cover just about everything else): strong game play and a great story.

First, the game play. It's exactly what they promised (the hyperbole of "870 Gazillion more guns" not withstanding). I spent a great amount of time just experimenting with the different guns and grenades I found throughout my adventure. Additionally, as you progress, you actually feel like you are learning more about the world around you, either from testing for weak spots in your opponents and the environment or by watching the humorous (yet informative) loading screens. Note: I love when I don't hate the loading screens of game; if I'm forced to sit through tons of them, at least make them good please. An important thing to note, however, is that this is a game meant for multiple people running around and causing havoc, as opposed to a loner (like me). You can still have fun by yourself, but you'll might get a bit more out of it you bring a friend. There were a few minor bugs that can force you to restart (and a few that will make you rich beyond your wildest dreams -in game of course -if you feel like exploiting the game) as well as the annoying caveat that cause you to be referred to as a guy regardless of the gender of your character (only really a problem if you're using one of the two female characters), but I can't think of any real game play reasons not to play the game. 5/5

Second, the story. I like Anthony Burch (and not because we almost have the same name). His term as the lead writer on this project only secures my interest in Gearbox and his own work all the more. By the end of each chapter, you may find that your view of the antagonist changes a bit (or a lot) or it may not change at all, but if you like a good story and more than a few good surprises, you'll like this game. I don't want to spoil too much though, since I want others to experience this great story first hand. The game was very story driven, which is good, but if all you care about is the guns you may miss out on some good humor, so keep your eyes and ears open. Also: "References!" 5/5

Overall, I would recommended this game to all who are old enough to buy it themselves (17+ only please; no kids and immature people allowed due to the immature humor at times that should ironically be kept away from the immature). There were some things I found personally offensive due to my beliefs, but it's a fictional world anyways, so I can get over it for the most part. Between the game play and the story, one of them will draw you in and the other one will keep you there. Make sure you pace yourself though; there's plenty of great stuff you might miss if you rush yourself and even with the DLC coming out in the future (some of which is already out), your definitely going to want to something to do until Borderlands 3. 5/5

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Short Version:

The Good-

Tons of fun, tons of guns, tons of humor, tons of learning, tons of great story

The Bad-

Some annoying game play bugs and the things that make the game great can be overwhelming (and annoying) to people who don't care about them; also, keep away from people who can't handle it (you know who you are...)

The Overall-

Great buy, give it a try. 5/5

I played BL1 and all its expansions. BL2 improves the franchise making small tweeks. This may be the #1 game that I have played on Xbox. Just finished up 150+ hours of Skyrim and I think BL2 blows it away in terms of shear fun and enjoyment.

Positives:

Better Story

Small tweeks like Baddass Points

More varied enemies

Negatives:

Mini map could be better

Inventory/menu interface takes a few hours to get used to, but never becomes easy and intuitive.

There is no question that Mario Party has been one of the guiltiest pleasures Nintendo has ever came out for their systems all the way back to the 90's. It has been a class act with gameplay, fun and characters that everyone loves from Mario and Luigi and Toad, as gamers race across boards trying t master challenges and compete against the simplest of games. The games have done well for Nintendo's home consoles over the years, the Wii, NIntendo 64 and Nintendo Gamecube, with bridging and interactive fun with others in board games that are absolutely fun and challenging. But, the feeling couldn't be said for the handheld systems. They have been heavily overlooked for the NIntendo DS, and Game Boy Advance through the years, and people never gave it the drive to succeed. Now, a new party has finally reached the Nintendo 3DS, and the question is that is it worth it for this party? The answer is yes with the roll of the dice.

Mario Party: Island Tour takes in on the fun as you play with as many as 3 other friends through 7 different game boards, and a whole lot of fun in the game. The game takes on the fun that works well just like the classic Mario fun as you play with Mario, Yoshi, Luigi and Boo among others. There are many great games for you to play where you can test the fun of the NIntendo 3DS action from goomba wrangling to slot car racing. There are 80 great mini-games to play and each one is fun with others well. There are also great game boards to play on from scaling Banzai Bill's Mountain, to going through a road to the finish on the stars in the Rocket Road, all the way up to scaling Bowser's tower of fury as you try and get to face him through a fierce showdown. The game plays nicely on the 3DS with good graphics, but doesn't have as well-rendered graphics on the 3D effect. It works well in fun on the Nintendo 2DS too. The control works well on the stylus, but the tilt controls on some games takes a bit of practice to get used to on some games, but can easily be mastered with time. The multiplayer works nicely with others, but could've had a bit more challenge as it could've included online gameplay through Wi-Fi, but that hasn't happened yet.

All in all, what you have gotten with Mario Party over the past 2 decades of games from Nintendo, you absolutely have definitely captured fun. While the games have had a lot of highs, and some strong lows, it has always a great centerpiece with interactive board game fun. There have been knockoffs that failed, but Mario still reigns supreme in on the fun. I absolutely recommend Mario Party: Island Tour not only because it is a good game with others, there has been a real lack of great games fr the Nintendo 3DS this past year, but this works well with others. This island hopping will work well for your Nintendo 3DS library.

I am disappointed that I bought this as a download from the eshop, as after only one night, I would probably sell the game if possible. The last Wii game had no change in game rules from board to board, so I was glad to hear that this game would feature 7 boards, each with its own rules. First off, unless you have plenty of friends with a 3DS, consider this to have 6 boards, as the 7th requires at least 3 human players. My wife and I played through 5 of the 6 we could play, then she said she won't play it again, just 2 hours after I bought it. We used to play the old games for weeks! The rules for the boards ARE varied and generally good, however no board has classic Mario Party rules. You won't be collecting coins and stars and there are no bonus stars at the end of the round. These boards are mostly about getting to the finish line first, that's it. Obstacles and how you get there change, BUT the game has been shortened for handheld play to the point that it all seems more pointless than ever. These are boards with 20 spaces that can be beaten in 4-5 turns! When you add in the luck-factor of these games, the short boards ruin everything. Somebody rolls a 6 on turn 1 and they're 1/3 of the way to having won! One board is hilarious as it has you collecting "boosters" to multiply your dice roll. 3 turns in you play a mini game to win 3 boosters. I won, used the 3 boosters and immediately won the board. Whichever player had won that very first mini game would have won the board that turn without question. Only 1 of the 5 boards we played had any length to it at all, but we knew who the winner was well before the game was over. That was an issue with all boards, with no bonus stars, the winner was clear before they even crossed the finish line. It's very strange, as the rules are mostly unique and there are tons of mini-games that are of the same quality as past games in the series... It is only the length of the boards that kill the game. There is no concept of "catching up" as the game is over in 5 turns. You can however randomly shuffle players on the last turn and have someone instantly win with no effort. I am very confused why Nintendo couldn't just offer a short and long version of each board. All of the work they put into the game and it would seem like the easiest thing they could do was add 30 spaces to each board and let you choose between 20 spaces for a quick game or 50 spaces for a REAL game. Even if they used the same boards as is and let you choose the number of "laps" you had to make around those boards before it was over. That's a simple fix that would satisfy everyone! For now, the game is like choosing to flip a coin on game night because Monopoly is too long.

This entry into the Mario Party universe was definitively done with portability in mind. Boards are short, games play quickly and there's not a whole lot of time to strategize. (Not that strategy ever paid off in Mario Party) You will see the fruit of lucky or unlucky rolls and awards present themselves immediately. There is almost no chance to recover or be overtaken depending on which side of fortune you find yourself on early in the game. That being said, the games last only a handful of turns or so, so you are not left frustrated (or bored with no competition) for long.

Personally I feel the game is well suited for the handheld. The longer Mario Party contests can come later on the Wii U. I appreciate the adjustment made to the game to accommodate more mobile play and shorter gaming sessions.

A final touch which is seen less and less these days is the single cart download play. This means you can play with friends in the same room who do not own the game. I love this feature and I wish it were available on more games.

As a fan of Mario Party from the beginning, I would recommend this game to anyone who likes the series, board games and/or minigames (WarioWare)

Honest reviews on Mario Party: Island Tour

Bought this as as downloadable content, as the file is relatively small and I want to have it around when I'm around others who are playing in, but use the cartridge slot for a more single player title. That said, I've only played the solo-mode so far, as most of my friends only first day purchased Zelda.

I see that as the bigger drawback to this title, being released the same day as an AMAZING looking Zelda game. By the time people start thinking of getting around to this, it'll be viewed as a "flop" game due to not having immediate sales. I'd say someone in the Nintendo marketing department dropped the ball on that, but with Pokemon X Y coming out and Zelda, there was no other good time to release this before the Christmas season. Hopefully this becomes the "Christmas present" game for the kids to play with each other while Zelda is the single player game of the season.

That said, this is a huge step up from the last Mario Party. The different boards have different mechanics, and the mini games give different rewards board wise. For example, the "standard" board gives a bonus dice for the winners of the mini-games, while the most "skill" board gives out specific move distance cards to use for your turn so you can know exactly where you're going.

Game has things to unlock with having played a bunch, but (as this is close to release date, not having played a bunch) they all look like graphic trophy type things, not used in game. There's also streetpass features, but again, not enough people own it quite yet (wait till they beat Zelda).

As for the minigames themselves, the computer is actually pretty good at most of them (doesn't ever beat me on normal, but there are 3 levels higher than normal). A few totally random ones, most involve skill. Not a fan of the "tilt the system" ones, but might just have been my angle at the time.

Ultimately I'm very happy I opted for the download version of this, as its going to be something I want to have to get streetpasses with all the time (like when I travel to airports or McDonalds). I just think its going to be a slow start, and pick up in popularity after Christmas (when a lot of people get it) rather than be that "have to have immediately" type game that Pokemon and Zelda are. But the fun and replay-ability of it (even single player) makes this a title I know people will be playing longer than the others

This is such a great game from SCS Software. They really did a nice job on this. One thing that I want to mention before I get into detail with my review is that this is an arcade-style game. The first 18 WOS Extreme Trucker, this one, and Bus Driver are all alike in a few ways. These are not serious simulator games. So buyers, beware of that. Serious simulator games include German Truck Simulator and UK Truck Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator, and all the 18 Wheels of Steel series games before Extreme Trucker. So, the difference between the two is the length of time you can play them before you get bored with them. With arcade games, it is often only a few weeks. With the latest simulator, or even some older ones, the time is often a month or more. Also, the arcade-style games are not simulators. But none of what I said above means that arcade games are not good. They are. It is nice to have something different, and to get away from the simulator. There are not as many traffic laws in the arcade games, if any, which in Extreme Trucker and Extreme Trucker 2, there are none. So yes, they are good for people who don't like to follow traffic laws. But there are consequences, good or bad, for whatever you do, especially in Bus Driver.

Now, for details about this game. It is much improved over two years. The new physics system from SCS Software is so much more realistic than the first one. The first game had some wierd physics at times. When you drove over ice too fast, the front end of your truck lift high up in the air, for what reason I don't know. Also, the two new environments, Montana and Bangladesh, are excellent and realistic, and the others are too. The maps of the older three places were extended, and some graphics were improved. The truck acceleration system is better too, and the truck headlight system. The trucks do not just take off going fast, they have realistic speed. Also, several new trucks were added, and they are nice. The steering is not so rigid anymore, tight turns can be made with ease, but not too much ease. It is such a great game, a lot of fun, with very detailed graphics, just like German Truck Simulator. And it runs just as well as the older game, even though it has a better physics system.

If I had a choice between Extreme Trucker and Extreme Trucker 2, I would pick Extreme Trucker 2 without a single doubt. Buy this game, it is so much better than the first Extreme Trucker. All of SCS Software's recent games are excellent, and this is no exception. They know how to make quality games.

Happy trucking!!

As said in previous review.. this is a Arcade based game. so if you are looking for long term fun then you need to find it somewhere else.

Graphics are amazing, trucks drive very well! Vast selection of different rigs and trailers.

This whole game can probably be beaten in a day. There is no commerce. No trucks to be "owned".

Review of Xbox 360 Data Transfer Cable

Xbox 360 Data Transfer Cable
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
UPDATE:

There is a NEWER cable that looks like it can transfer data from/to BOTH old-style OR Xbox360 "Slim" Hard Drives. Search for "Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable" and the cable looks black instead of gray. It also has what looks like an added SATA connector for Slim style hard drives. Last I checked, that new product is here:

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Hard-Drive-Transfer-Cable/dp/B005LBDOLA/

------

I received the Xbox360 Data Transfer Cable and used it to transfer all my data from my Xbox360 Elite console to my Xbox360 Halo Reach "Slim" console.

Technically you are connecting ONLY the detached hard drive from your former console, hooking it up with this transfer cable, then connecting the other end to a USB port of the console you want to transfer data to.

The cable comes in a box that is branded/designed the way all the new Xbox360 peripherals and games are showing up this year (those green "waves" and such).

The process is very straightforward:

(I did this while the Xbox360 Slim was already on, sitting idle in the 360 dashboard):

1. Connect one specific end of the cable to the detached, non-slim 360 hard drive.

2. Connect other USB end to any available USB port in the slim system (I plugged it into one of the two front ports)

3. A prompt will appear, asking if you want to transfer TO or FROM the console.

4. You can then individually select items to move, or move everything.

One thing to note is that it transferred all my content to the Xbox360 Slim EXCEPT for games that were installed to the HDD (that is, disc games I installed to the HDD before for quicker access times). Not a big deal and it transferred everything else (some 800+ files) without incident.

Remember that if you transfer data you still may have to "transfer licenses" if you don't, then some content (such as downloaded XBLA games or other downloaded content) may not be playable if you aren't online and signed into Xbox Live. This isn't a big deal for me because I am always online when the Xbox is on. Do a google search for "xbox360 license transfer" and one of the first pages should be a link to the Microsoft page on the matter. This will move the actual 'licenses' over as well, allowing you to play your downloaded/purchased Xbox Live content when you are not signed on to the net. Additional note: you can only transfer licenses ONCE per year, technically. Then you just have to sit tight, or take it up with Microsoft via phone support (I can't vouch for having done the latter :)

Like other reviewers say, once you're done with it... well that's it :( I'll be holding onto mine as I have friends transitioning their data from one console to another. That said, save money by just pitching in for one then and using it amongst your 360-owning friends :)

I purchased this product as I was upgrading from my old 20 GB pro to the new 250 GB slim. I decided on the cable to transfer over everything instead of using memory sticks as I wanted to get the licenses for my DLC transferred over as well.

Setup was a snap as all you need to do is place the old hard drive on one end of the cable and plug the other end into a 360 with the new hard drive, then follow the prompts that come up.

It took only about 7-8 minutes for all the data to be transferred over, and everything came over intact. I did not even need to recover any account profiles that were on the old hard drive.

All in all, I was very satisfied with the results and now intend to see how long it will take to fill up my new hard drive.

I Bought this July 14 2010 The shipping was incredibly fast. I needed this to transfer my information from my old xbox to the new xbox and this cable was great it tranfered all my information.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Data Transfer Cable

...then you do not need this cable. If you purchase the 250GB hard drive upgrade, then you will have both the 4GB memory unit and the 250GB hard drive available for use. You can transfer data directly between the two--you do not need this cable.

I state this because the instructions with the unit are not clear. I am surprised that Microsoft would not see how financially rewarding this upgrade path would be...

The Data Transfer cable sounds like a great thing to have, and it does work. Unfortunately, it is pretty limited in usefulness. The only people who really get a benefit out of this, are people with a ton of DLC. Also, you are only likely to use it one time. It isn't very likely that you will be transferring your content back and forth between Xboxes. Also, it only copies over the data. You still have to manually transfer the licenses for any of your DLC by either going to the support site, or calling Microsoft. Not that it is a difficult process. Online, it takes less than 5 minutes. You still have to re-download your DLC, but each item only takes a couple seconds, because it isn't redownloading the stuff, just the licenses associated with it.

As far as the kit itself, as I said, it works correctly and pretty intuitively. You can either tell it to copy everything, or manually select just the things you want to copy over. Restoring it onto the target Xbox is just as easy. The kit is well constructed, and I'm sure it will last me for a long time, or at least until after I upgrade my second Xbox.

I know that there are some unofficial uses for this kit, which might make this worthwhile for more people, but in general, I wouldn't bother with this kit. Just redownload your DLC and be done with it. Yes it may take longer depending on your internet connection, but you end up saving yourself the cost of this kit. If you have a bunch of DLC (in my case, all of the Fallout 3 DLC plus hundreds of Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks), and you don't mind spending a few bucks to save your self some time, then go for it.

For everyone else, I wouldn't bother.

Parents: I have absolutely no idea why they gave this game a "T" for teen. The content in this game is light hearted and humerous for any age. Understanding how to play might be a bit tough for energetic little ones, but chances are if they are patient enough to books read by themselves they'll be old enough able to handle this game with no real problem. Be aware though that this game is direct towards those types who like games that usually involve a good deal of time (think monopoly, risk, chess, checkers, ect.)

Everbody I know who has played this game loves it and I...I am not sure why. This game is incrediblely simple and repetitive with a lot of stuff they could have packed into it left out. It has almost zero story. The mini games are few and always the same. Graphically the game is pleasing and the music is happy and positive, but after a while all the environments are pretty much the same. Basically, you could finish the whole game in a few hours if you wanted.

Yet, it's still so fun that you can just keep playing it over and over. It's one of those unique game that you play for about a couple hours a day and it never gets old. Time just flys when your playing this thing and I don't I'll ever really understand why. It only has about four minigames in it, yet me and the rest of my family still find it hard to put down.

It's a pirate game based in the late 17th-century Caribbean Islands where the player starts out as a young teenage boy and can assume one of several roles. You can be a plundering rogue taking treasure from any ship in your path and sacking ports, or dedicate your life to avenging your family.

Pros:

Excellent open ended adventure. You can either exclusively complete quests that guide to the rogue who kidnapped your family, sail around and pillage and plunder as you want, be a privateer for a specific country and target only the enemies of that country, or a combination of these, with a bit of trade strategy thrown in for flavor.

Mixture of mini-games, story lines, and game play elements maintains interest level. Various quests abound to move the story along, or you can take your chances and just capture ships at your leisure.

Several styles of gameplay are included, such as: turn-based strategy, stealth, real-time ship-to-ship combat, duels with swords, even a rhythm based dance game

Addictive gameplay keeps one playing just a little while longer, which in turn becomes hours

Whimsical approach to subject keeps the game from taking itself too seriously. What violence is here is cartoon-like, at it's absolute worst.

Minimal resource management makes the game approachable without sacrificing gameplay or strategy. Icons indicate crew morale and food supplies, and hints abound in various pause menus.

Interface and controls adapted well for the Xbox. The world map overlays nicely onto to the screen during gameplay, avoiding the need to constantly switch from map to gameplay.

Cons:

Serious Bugs/Quality Control Issues: At one point in the middle of a quest central to the story, my ship "flew" over to the Pacific Ocean side of Central America, an area you can't get to through "normal" gameplay. I stayed there for about 4 years in game time, letting the crew run out of food and mutiny, hoping that either one would at least toss me back into my last port. Unfortunately, that never happened, forcing me to restart the game. To add to the frustration, the save points didn't record my last few conquests and quest accomplishments up to that point, forcing me to redo them all over again. My fault for not saving more often, but the game shouldn't throw the player into non-navigable areas either.

Odd save points: It lets you save at any point on the open sea, but it neither saves the game nor allows you to save when you pull into a port. Having the ability to save while in port would have been nice as ports make good landmarks.

Some repetitive gameplay: It can get a bit repetitive at times, having to do the same types of actions repeatedly to move the story along or progress on a given quest.

All in all, a solid, entertaining game. The various styles, gameplay modes, and difficulty levels give the game good replay value overall. While repetitive in some places, and buggy in others, it easily entertains more in a few minutes of playing than other games do in an hour.

Best Deals for Sid Meier's Pirates!

This game is adictive. Very addictive. It's about as open ended as games come in that it has objectives, but you don't need to follow them...at all. You can go around making a name for yourself on the high seas without completing a single objective and your enjoyment wouldn't be diminished a bit. If the "open ended" games of recent like GTA have you bored with the "drive around, shoot this, run from that" style of open ended gameploy, give this a shot and you'll most likely be loving it. Any improvements? Graphics could be better, and I wouldn't mind hearing actual spoken dialogue, but that's it. Enjoy!

Honest reviews on Sid Meier's Pirates!

Sid Meier's Pirates! For the Xbox is a updated version of an old pc game. The updated version was originally created once again for the pc but is now ported to the Xbox with some changes from the original. Pirates! is according to Gamerankings.com the 780th best game overall and the 134th best game on the Xbox scoring a overall average of 83% from game ranking sights, but it is still definitely one you should not miss.

There are a large variety of activities to be done in Pirates!. After the game shows the opening movies and you pick the settings for your game you are left with a single ship and the whole world to play in. There are a variety of missions you can go on, but none of them are required. You can seek out pirates to kill for fortune and glory, participate in cannon battles between ships, loot cities, have sword battles, search for buried treasure, or marry the Governor's daughter.

The graphics in the game are quite good and change depending on the situation. If you are in a sword fight or dancing at a ball the graphics are detailed in a mixture of realistic and cartoon style. During the bulk of the game you look at a above head view of your ships as they sail the seas. The only disappointing graphics are when you chose to attack a city; I think they could have done a better job then they did on that part though it may be true to the style of the original game.

There are a few differences between the pc and Xbox versions of the game. All of the differences are good ones in my opinion. The dancing sequences which I found almost impossible on the pc are now much easier. The pace of attacking a city was greatly increased; in the pc version it could take an hour or more to siege a city. There is an optional chain of quests randomly assigned that can be seen as an optional storyline. You do not have to spend hours on land searching for treasure anymore; if you try to land near the treasure you will automatically find it. And finally the sword duels have slightly altered controls for the Xbox controller making them slightly harder.

Sid Meier's Pirates! is a fantastic game. Unlike other games that you can beat and get tired of this one has no real ending; as your pirate gets older he gets worse at everything he does so you have to decide when to retire. This is a fun addictive game that will keep you coming back for years to come. Sid Meier himself said on G4 TV that this was the game he got the most mail over the years to remake. Give it a try and you may be sending out email for a new version in a few years.

So a little time has passed and now not only can you run the X-box version of this game on the 360, but you can download it from X-box Live! Is it still worth playing today? Oh yes! First of all, I like the console version better than the PC version. It just feels more pick-up-and-play on the Xbox, the controls work beautifully (I vastly prefer pressing buttons to hitting number keys on a keyboard), and with the high-resolution rendering on the 360 the game looks wonderful. In fact, I only have one complaint. You can't skip the intro movie on the 360 for some reason.

If you like the PC version you may want to change over to this version for sheer ease-of-use. If you've never played the game before you ought to give it a try just to find out how a series of minigames can make for a full-blown game, and why Sid Meyer's games are as popular as they are. I don't play it every day. When I do play it I stop when I beat it and leave it alone for a while. But when I do start playing, I get hooked deep until I beat the game again and hopefully best my high score once again (the real replay value comes from trying to end the game with a super-high score). Give it a try and hopefully the game will do the same for you. Have fun!

This is a great product to play your game system on a computer monitor. The picture is great. There IS background noise on the picture that might get a little annoying (I don't really notice it), however, for the price, you really can't ask for a more crisp picture. It's also much smaller than I expected, about 4" x 1.5" by 1". And once you've got it set up, it's extremely easy to use. That said, there are some important things to consider.

*****

THIS IS IMPORTANT: Your monitor MUST be able to run at 1600 x 1200 resolution. You must have a component cable for your system, not a composite. And you must set your system to 480p resolution for it to run. If you don't have ALL of this set up, the system WILL NOT RUN. You will get an image on your monitor telling you that it is out of range.

*****

I had to find this out the HARD way. When I bought the item I didn't have any of these things. Monitors that can run at 1600x1200 are NOT CHEAP but I managed to find a good deal (Less than $200) and had been looking to upgrade from my ancient CRT anyway. The component cable should only cost you about $5 if you don't have one already. The worst part was owning all these things and not knowing that I had to set my system at 480p. This item DOES NOT INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS. I had to email the manufacturer (Hyperkin) to finally get an answer. Fortunately, they got back to me within two days which is relatively quick.

But after all of that trouble, like I said earlier, I couldn't be happier with what this little thing can do. After all that trouble setting it up, it's really easy to use and gets a great picture for a great price. I would have given it 5 stars if it had come with better instructions and if I had been properly warned of everything I would need to get it to work properly

This a dual review of sorts, as I am comparing the VGA 2000 to another product I purchased which I found dissatisfactory: the HD Box Pro.

I am a PS3/Wii owner and I'm too poor at the moment to buy myself a nice HDTV. Seeing as I have a 20 inch Viewsonic PC LCD monitor in my room which rarely ever gets used (since I primarily use my laptop) I figured I'd find myself a good VGA adapter and put it to some good use.

The VGA 2000 by Hyperkin was not my first choice when I was shopping around for VGA adapters. The first one I tried (and luckily did NOT pay full price for, more on this in a minute) was the HK-based HD Box Pro. I did a LOT of research, read a ton of reviews and figured it would do the trick. The HD Box Pro normally goes for almost $75 (that's the unit price including shipping) but I was lucky enough to find a guy getting rid of his on craigslist for $25. So, I picked it up.

Boy... I was glad I didn't pay full price for it.

The positives:

Comes with audio input/output ports so that you can actually use your monitor speakers if you got them (or just use an external audio source)

The unit has MANY different options to tamper with to fit your lcd tv/monitor just right (color, resolution, and aspect ratio)

It comes with a remote control so that you don't have to reach for the function buttons on the device itself.

Sounds great, doesn't it?

The negatives:

It DOES need an external power source (a/c adapter included).

Unfortunately for me, upon hooking my PS3 up to my LCD monitor with the HD Box Pro, the monitor was LITTERED with "static" lines. These lines only got worse with continuous usage.

Next, I tried to contact HD Box Pro support. After emailing them throughout the month of February with NO RESPONSE, I gave up. I had no choice but to find another option.

Then... I found the VGA 2000 here on Amazon.

After reading a decent amount of the other reviews here, I decided this might actually work (not to mention the price was right, being only about $25 including shipping)

One thing I noticed was the size of the VGA 2000 unit. If you have a cable box, it's about the size of a standard DVR remote. And, unlike the HD Box Pro, your audio cables MUST be plugged into an external source. Also, it's powered by USB, so your options are to either plug it into a USB port (cable included), or if you're like me, you can use an old cell phone USB charger as a power adapter.

Now, for it's actual performance...

The VGA does not have the customization options that the HD Box Pro has, but IT WORKS!! As for the resolution, it outputs at 720p max, but the picture is crystal clear with no degradation.

I have tried it with my Wii, PS3 and my Panasonic Blu-Ray player and everything works great.

So... take it from me. I've put in the time and money JUST to get my HD systems running on a decent monitor. And, once I DO get an HDTV, I will DEFINITELY use the VGA 2000 to plug my Wii into its VGA port (as I wouldn't need it with the PS3 since it's got an HDMI port).

Good buy! You won't be disappointed.

i bought this to hook my roommates Wii up to my 19" widescreen Samsung SyncMaster 920nw monitor. after hooking everything up, even the desktop was poor quality. everything had a trail off to the right. I switched it to the Wii and got a message saying that it was an unsupported output and recommended 1440 x 900 at 60 Hz. thats EXACTLY what my monitor is set to. after hooking up the vga box i had the option to bump it up to 1600 x 1200, which is what the box outputs. i tried that and still got the error message. so unless you have a super high-reso monitor, dont buy this. and if you get a monitor with that high a resolution, just buy a 480 or 720p tv and save yourself the trouble of dealing with this box.

Honest reviews on High Resolution Component Input VGA Box for Wii, Ps3, Xbox 360, PSP

It works! My new DVD player uses my PC's flatscreen monitor as its monitor too. And I didn't have to kludge or solder anything at all.

I can use the switch button to flip back and forth between DVD and PC, which lets me pause a DVD and search the web to figure out some relatively obscure reference. (I did have to separately purchase a "USB Adapter" to plug into the wall and provide the power this unit expects to piggypback from the game console I don't have.)

I purchased this to switch between my Dell Desktop and AppleTV. It works great with both SD and HD resolutions. In few cases, I get image shift....but I can go into the screen position settings in the TV and compensate.

For the money, it's worth it over the more expensive one's. AND it's USB powered, so I could have pluged into my ATV or Dell and it'll power on when one of those power on. Genius!
