I'm an old school 2d gamer at heart... no matter how much 3D you throw at me I still love classic games 2d gaming. The original Final Fight was one of my ALL TIME favorite arcade games and console games when it got ported over to the SNES and Sega CD. Plain simple fun.

Capcom has finally made a new Final Fight for us many years after we saw the last batch of games. (FF1-FF3 on SNES, Final Fight Revenge on Saturn). This version is completly 3d and features Kyle Travers (who would be Cody's brother) trying to find out what happened to his bro after Cody goes missing at the start of the game.

The gameplay involves you walking around different parts of Metro City talking to random NPC's who usually don't have anything of interest and beating thugs up along the way. You can also complete some small "side quests" along the way to finding Cody. The fighting itself is ok, nothing spectacular or new we haven't seen before. Music mostly consists of hiphop tracks and some run of mill sound effects. The voices and mini story clips which focus in on Kyle talking are one of my favorite parts of the game, most are humorus and were done well. The graphics definetly leave alot to be desired as they look pretty low scale most of the time being that the game doesnt even support 480p.

The game will have you run into people of Final Fight lore along the way which makes for some of the better parts of the game. Most of the thugs and goons you fight in this game don't compare to the classic thugs of the original, but hey they're just there to get beatup.

All in all, the game needed more polish before it got out the door, and I woudlnt recommend it to anyone who isn't a fan of Final Fight. The cameos and flashbacks to old school Metro City are what ties it in for me, just getting to bust some heads in Metro City again just like back in 1990.

As info, the only way to save the game is to select to "Quit" from the pause menu... it will then prompt you to save before exit. (Another little thing which Capcom should have dont differently..)

Final Fight goes inner city with Final Fight X Streetwise. The soundtrack is full of rough music, the scenes are concrete jungles with dirt and blood covered combatants.

There's a ton of swearing in this game, as well as hookers, drug dealers and just about every other miscreant type you can imagine. I enjoy the Grand Theft Auto series, so I'm not a goody-goody ... but it was a bit over the top here.

The graphics were very jumpy, with clipping problems and monotone objects. There were some nice interactivities, being able to pick up garbage cans for example. Still, the world felt very forced.

The sound is OK, although if this is going to be a story-driven game, they should have gone for better voice actors. Also, very strangely, the subtitles are usually off from what is being said. The soundtrack sounded like a cheezy version of a gangster / mobster movie.

I think in general that was the problem with most of the game. You could see where they were coming from, and it might have been a ton of fun, but it's just not quite there. Maybe they needed more time in development. The sound is OK but not great. The graphics are OK but not great. The storyline ... ditto.

I'd rent this one first, to see if you get drawn in, before you buy it.

This game advertises all this stuff about how great it is, but it honestly isn't. I bought it to play with my boyfriend, and even he didn't like it. He is like Mikey, he likes anything.

The graphics are choppy, the story is okay until it deviates into this weird part about people with glowing eyes, and the music isn't all that great.

This is just my opinion, and I suggest you rent this game before you buy it.

"Dead to Rights" is the kind of non-stop action game that will remind you why you play console games in the first place. Though the game's premise, style, and source of inspiration are easy to compare to "Max Payne," the games themselves are readily distinguishable from one another, and both are equally as worthy of your gaming attentions.

"Dead to Rights" casts you as Jack Slate, a larger-than-life cop in the fictional cesspool of Grant City, whose only real friend appears to be his canine partner, Shadow. Early on, Slate discovers the body of his murdered father in a construction yard, and then the action comes hot and heavy from then on.

Slate's gun-slinging antics and martial arts brawls are quick to remind one of a John Woo film. The hand-to-hand fighting system is immensely enjoyable and reminiscent of updated classics like "Double Dragon" and "Final Fight." The majority of the game's setpeices, though, involve thousands of flying bullets, and the gunplay is truly extraordinary. Capping the bad guys is rarely this satisfying, particularly in a game viewed from a 3rd person perspective. To add icing to the cake, Slate has a series of violent "disarms" he can employ to turn a battle in his favor, and executing them properly is gratifying in all its M-rated glory. "Dead to Rights" wisely switches between hand-to-hand battles and fierce gunfights at a fairly regular interval to ensure that the game doesn't get repetitive.

Unfortunately, "Dead to Rights" also favors mini-games and puzzles that crop up every now and again to slow down the action. The idea is a sound one, but most of these sessions are just exercises in button-mashing frenzy. On the plus side, though, the mini-games segue into the storyline almost seamlessly, so they're not as jarring as they might otherwise have been. And speaking of the storyline, it's sure to entertain, and is helped tremendously by talented voice-actors and some truly cinematic cut-scenes.

Aside from the mini-games and some questionable decisions in level design (which are an exception rather than a rule), "Dead to Rights" is a triumph. The game is bloody good fun from beginning to end, and more addictive than a set of Max Payne's painkillers. This remains one of the best action titles available on the PS2, and it should not, under any circumstances, be missed by fans of the genre.

Final Score: A-

Dead to Rights is about a K-9 cop Jack Slate who patrols Grant City with his trusty dog Shadow. While patrolling a construction site, Slate finds someone (I won't ruin it for you) very close to him murdered. Against orders, Slate sets off in search answers and revenge. The story in Dead to Rights is narrated by Jack himself, and involves some pretty decent twists and turns. All told, by the time the player reaches the end of the game, NAMCO does a good job in tying up all of the loose ends in the plot. Dead to Rights is one of those games that are excellent in simulating what it would be like left on your own surrounded by a ridiculously large amount of or when his weapon is hostered. Jack can holster his weapon at any point in the game. While fighting without a weapon, the player can use Jack to kick, punch, and perform combo's (unlock them all!) on the enemies. He can even creep up behind them, disarm them (take their weapon). and use them as a human shield. The plot itself in DtR is plenty engaging and never boring due to a plethora of different inventive scenarios and mini-games. Mini games range from trying to pick locks to making strippers dance. You will surely never find the gameplay in Dead to Rights boring, dull, or uncreative. Weapons Slate can carry are also widely varied, and while using them 'bad guys,' just like in the movies. In this sense, Dead to Rights will remind many people of Max Payne. Dead to rights is objective-based, and Jack Slate will have to gun down / beat up countless enemies before reaching each next one.

Gameplay in Dead to Rights is extremely inventive and varied, whether staged that way or made that way by the player's choice of fingerstrokes. For example, there are two whole sets of controls for when Jack Slate is armed or when his weapon is hostered. Weapons Slate can carry are also widely varied, and while using them he can do everything from melee the enemy, to jumping while keeping his sights trained on the enemy in midair. fire from the safety of a trash can. The aiming system in Dead to Rights is very intuitive and the user can choose to turn auto-aim on or off. Jack's dog, Shadow, serves as a great help in getting him out of many a tight situation. The user can manuever Shadow manually, and can use him to attack people, turn switches, or sniff at objects.

Perhaps the only depriving element in Dead to Rights is its graphics quality. While audio quality is fine, and is of average quality for such a relatively old game, graphics seem slightly below par in some situations. For example, camera angles can be difficult to handle (being unpredictable and sometimes locking in place) when in tight hallways or corridors. While graphics can be a bit disappointing in some situations, they are certainly not lacking throughout the entire game. I aspect I especially appreciate is the way the camera swivels and "locks on" to the enemy Jack is targeting. Gun effects and explosions are also very good during boss fights. The only thing that lacks there is the texture quality. Overall, I say Dead to Rights is still (and will never not be) a very enjoyable and engaging game. While graphical presentation lacks in some areas, it can only be expected due to when it was made. I myself am have not yet beaten this game, and at this point I am still very excited to finish it. I would certainly recommend Dead to Rights to you action game freaks, especially those of you who are movie-lovers or Max Payne fans. Enjoy! -Derek Ricciuto

this game is one of the best that namco has developed in he last year. It's awsome storyline and tense playing makes it a perfct gae for all you action/shooter lovers out there...It has over 20 different weapons to hose from... It is a game that you could never put down...It's slow mo action feature makes it all the better. Just imagein you dodgeing a bullet by millimeters and laughing at he fact the(opponent) shooting you has missed...you'll enjy this game for weeks or months to come.

Honest reviews on Dead to Rights - PlayStation 2

When I first rented this game, I didn't expect much.

NAMCO products don't exactly make me do a double take.

I only gave it a chance because it's a shooter game.

Boy was I surprised! I was totally addicted. I don't

care for hand-to-hand combat, but, overall, the battle

scheme was user friendly. Too bad you can only slow-mo

while diving, and you're dog meat if you dive in a

direction in which you can't see your enemy. I just

love the disarm sequences. My dog Shadow got plenty of

action if I wasn't being hurried by the enemies. This

game kept me excited the whole way through. You can

actually change the difficulty at any time during the

game, which is cool for those harder to beat situations.

Thanks Namco. This one's a keeper.

I won't write a lengthy review, as many others on here have said enough. However, I would like to inject my own thoughts, as I enjoyed this game immensely. Sure, It may be a Max Payne spinoff, ripoff,or whatever you may label it, but it does have some unique qualities of it's own. I played Max payne one and two, and both games have some striking similarities. Both Max and Jack are cops who have lost loved ones to horrific violence, and are intent on revenge and retribution, no matter what it takes. Heck, the two even resemble each other physically. One thing Max did not have, was Shadow, the faithful k9.

I just finished this game a few days ago, and I'll be honest..for me, this was one of the most challenging games I have played for a while. The bosses in this game are the toughest I have faced so far, and I spent many nights tossing my controller down in frustration. Overall, if you are into the noir, this is for you. Despite my liking this game, it's not without it's flaws

Pros:

Good graphics

Nice array of weapons

great storyline

Excellent controls

Cons:

Mini-games..This is a true waste of time, especially the lifting part. I'm surprised i did not damage my controller buttons, lol.

Awkward camera angles on some levels.

Other than that, I highly suggest this game, as it's super cheap now. Enjoy!

I have never written a review of a game in my entire life. But having bought and played this game I feel obligated to write a detailed review to help consumers make an informed decision about this game.

Game. I can't believe I am going to fault a game for being a game. But here I go nonetheless.

Anyone familiar with this series knows that there isn't really a happy medium difficulty. "Pro Difficulty" is far too easy and "All-Star Difficulty" is way too hard. And it's not harder because the computer is smarter. It is harder because the computer can skate faster and steal the puck without performing an action (something the player must do to steal the puck i.e poke-check, stick-lift, etc). The AI aggressively pursues the puck carrier and forces a turn over. It's not positional hockey... it's like an NHL team playing a pee-wee team.

So how can we fix this? I know! We'll give the AI a sprint capability.

The new skating engine is actually pretty amazing. It does a great job of putting you in the skates of an NHL player. Your control is immensely improved and it all feels exhilarating rushing on offense.

This would all play so amazingly well if the AI skaters skated backward slower than you can "sprint" forward. Finally (in theory) you could skate faster than the AI (if only during the rush) and no longer feel dogged by faster skaters with super-human puck stealing capability. Except this is plainly not the case. Playing the AI on "Pro difficulty" is roughly the same as playing NHL 11 or 12 on "All star". The AI will take the puck from you if you get within 25 feet of him. Sprint or no sprint. If you skate near a AI player you will lose the puck. Are you Crosby or Ovenchkin? Guess what against the AI it doesn't matter at all. Are you a super-human custom player creation with the best speed, acceleration and agility in the game? Still it does not matter.

However most, if not all, veteran EA NHL player know how to play the (non-hockey) hockey to beat the super-human AI. You just have to abandon all pretense that you're simulating a hockey game and play some Blades of Steel hockey and you'll win.

If you do play these games you've most likely experienced the San Francisco Rush style comeback of your AI opponent. (for those who don't get the reference, it's a racing game that automatically speeds you or your opponent up to keep the race close). It's happened a lot in the last 4 or so EA NHL games. It is especially obvious in the final 2 or so minutes of a game. But this time it makes a return by intentionally keeping the entire game close. I played 10 straight games and took the lead 10 straight times and watched the computer overwhelm my AI controlled team and score 4-5 cheap goals. I could deal with this in years past because it felt like MY AI players were at least trying. But seriously it's like your AI is trying to throw the game. I tried to create a super-human goaltender to see if it would help. Nope. My dynamo seemingly was in on it too.

We're talking about the Winnipeg Jets coming back on the defending Stanley Cup champ LA Kings.... 10 times. It's no accident and it completely and utterly takes you out of it.

My biggest question for EA is this: Why aren't my teammates operating on the same level as the AI opponent?

The is the best looking hockey GAME ever made. This is one of the best controlling hockey GAMES ever made. This is the most feature rich hockey GAME ever made.

But the gameplay (this "interpretation" of the game of hockey) is fundamentally broken almost beyond repair.

Don't say I didn't warn you. I didn't even mention the standing still knock down body checks. (A 5'8 165lb leveled my player created 6'4 240lb defensemen three times in a row in the corner.)

The bottom line is that somehow while EA was trying to create the most realistic hockey simulation ever they managed to create of the world's worst hockey games.

Buy it and tell me you don't agree.

UPDATE

I'm never going to say that it's acceptable for a company to release a truly unfinished product. So I will not give EA a pass for doing that in this case. I stand by the original 2/5 star from this review.

But in the case of EA, I will give them props for heavily patching this game to be a little more playable.

The biggest thing they have improved is the seemingly exploitable cheap goals from the top of the slot. For anyone who plays hockey they'll know shooting from the top of the face off circle is a high goal area. But it is EXTREMELY hard to get positioned for a good shot there. So the AI was scoring realistically from this area, it's just that the AI was able to maneuver into this position regularly and easily. So for the most part, playing smart positional defense will now minimize this exploit.

I am know able to rush past defenders with fast skaters and have them turn and chase me toward the net. This is the realistic skating situation they advertised. Because when I speed up enough to make them turn, I am unable to cut in to the net. I can carry the puck past the defenders but either have to take a bad angle shot or carry it into the corner. Much more like real hockey and I'm assuming what they were going for with the whole skating engine.

What still remains and is in desperate need of a fix is the standing still body check. For a game that advertises physics the skater vs skater interactions are still laughably bad.

The rubber banding has been improved (thanks for the term Fox!) but every once in a while you can see your team and opponent AI decide it's time to make it closer. It's far less prevalent and closing out a close game is the exciting prospect it should have been all along. The skating boost helps to heighten the drama of these situations and provide a desperation that was lacking in previous NHL games.

NHL 14 for the next generation consoles has a real opportunity to build on this rough transitional game. My development list for 14 goes like this:

1. Fix the hitting/player interaction physics. Give it the same level of thought you did skating. This doesn't mean record new animations and call it progress. I don't care how it looks, I care how it feels!

2. Refine the pinning/puck cycling system. Real hockey is a game of getting the puck down low and cycling it around the boards to maintain possession. Pinning is the right idea, but expand expand expand.

3. It's time for an NHL game to have an true open Beta. Look, I know you guys are Canadians and almost for sure have seen a fair deal of hockey in your time. But I played this game for like 2 days and could have given you your patch notes 3 months before the game came out.

4. New commentators, new presentation. Time to go after TSN (espn) or CBC and get some real commentators and TV graphics.

Without fixes, this NHL game is the first where I say "its unplayable" and I actually dont play it. Instead of a long winded review, I'll simply enumerate some issues:

1. I mostly play EASHL and all I see and hear is "nice poke check." Poke check, poke check, poke check. Way over powered and very irritating.

2. I guess legal interference is back, b/c I've been knocked down a bunch of times w/out the puck, far away from the net w/out a call.

3. Hitting. Broken. (You get knocked down by the CPU, who is standing still, and then you bounce up and down on the ice?) Passing. Broken. (Passing to a guy wide open shouldn't require prayer). Computer AI. Still laughably broken (There isn't a time when I call for the puck where I don't expect the computer to do something idiotic).

4. "Nice poke check."

5. The skating backward from end to end garbage has now been legitimized? They took out the vision control button, which was actually useful, and replaced it with the "skate backward whenever you want" button? Who goes on a breakaway and then decides, "you know what might work here? Skating backward."

6. So now we have to wait longer to start a lobby game? They took the enjoyment of waiting in line at the DMV and combined it with having to listen to idiots, all as a reward to play a terrible game.

7. Goals don't feel like accomplishments. Make an amazing deke, slip a pass by a defender (somehow), get a pass right back and the goaltender is sipping coffee waiting for the top shelf shot. BUT, take a shot from some stupid angle and it goes in.

At least in NHL 12, when I was annoyed, I could run into the boards and injure myself. As a coup de grĂ¢ce, you can no longer do that. So, I just injure my self in real life by slapping my forehead for playing this game.

I don't even think the girls in the crowd are hot anymore. How do you screw that up?

I hate this game@$@#$@#

Best Deals for NHL 13 - Xbox 360

the demo had me sold. it seemed like a really different NHL game this time around.

bought the game...played it for a few days... things still seemed fine.

two weeks later, i'm considering selling this copy and getting NHL 12 again.

all the negative reviews are correct. you can't check anyone in this game even with the sliders adjusted. i've got my "human" slider for hitting power all the way up and the cpu one all the way down. the cpu still levels all my guys. Chara can't even crush a guy in the boards going full speed. HE actually falls down from doing that.

the cpu also out hustles you all the time. non stop. the only thing that you can do is adjust the acceleration slider all the way up and put theirs all the way down.

the other thing i absolutely hate as well the game doesn't always let you manually change your lines even if you have the setting on. sometimes you'll notice a new line hit the ice and you didn't call for them to come on. yeah that's a HUGE HUGE HUGE issue. i can't even remember the last time this happened so frequently in an NHL game that's because it's never happened. i have no idea what EA is doing over there, but it's not good.

also the new feature "moments live" is really weird. why do i have to re-create historic moments with gretzky...when he's playing on the CURRENT oilers team and not on his old team, with his old roster, against the other old team he played against. It's kind of weird re-creating how he got 50 in 39 and you take a pass from taylor hall...

all the things i mentioned are bad enough but if you play the game on xbox live then i truly pity you as there's no way to adjust anything.

combined with the fact that there might not be an NHL season due to another ridiculous lockout this poor excuse to steal $60 from you just adds insult to injury.

Honest reviews on NHL 13 - Xbox 360

The big new feature this year is "True Performance Skating". Basically it's a return of the "speed burst" but it effects your player's maneuverability if you don't let off the gas. What's cool is that high rated players can do more at top speed, much like their real life counterparts. You can also skate backwards "at will" which creates tons of options for creative skating. Love it.

Ok, that's the good news. Now the bad:

1. Teammate AI seems better, but it really isn't. My AI skaters play better D, and seem to position themselves better on offense as well. Problem is, my AI teammates can never break up a pass, and they are unable to take a pass 30% of the time. It just goes right through their skates or right in front of them. Goalies seem improved, but seem to give up cheap goals way too often. The goalies seem to get frozen by long shots much easier.

2. Opponent AI "seems" improved, but it's cheap. CPU opposition players are able to somehow cling to you (hold?) at will, preventing you from moving, shooting or passing for 3 seconds or longer. This wouldn't be so bad if there was a real life button YOU could press to perform this "hold" on the opposition, but there is not. The CPU opposition also has the unique ability to perform the following "cheap" actions at will: Steal the puck without hitting or poke checking, Deliver crushing body checks from a complete stand still, the aforementioned ability to hold your skater somehow, never go off-sides, and never miss a pass or deliver an inaccurate pass. It is worth noting that human controlled and cpu teammate players cannot perform any of these actions.

3. The "board pin". Back from NHL 2012, it is the ability to pin an opponent to the boards and force a struggle for the puck along the boards. I actually liked this feature in 2012, but they made it cheap in 2013. I noticed the computer was regularly pinning me to the boards while I was skating full speed in a north/south direction with the computer opponent a full step or 2 behind me. It is very jarring and unrealistic when it happens, so much so I had to stop and watch the replays to confirm what I just saw. Not much of a saving grace, but human controlled players can also perform this "cheap" maneuver as well. Just get near a player skating up ice along the boards, hit "Y", and the awkwardness begins. I can already see this maneuver getting exploited online and resulting in thousands of angry arguments.

4. Button/Stick Assignments resulting in penalties. It's been 4 years straight of this now. ENOUGH!! The designers don't seem to get it. Let's start with the right shoot stick. You are in the crease trying to bang in a rebound. Unfortunately EA has decided it's a good idea that pushing on the right stick might also body check instead of bang in a rebound, depending on the proximity of opposing players. So instead of knocking that rebound into the open net, you body check a defender without the puck, which is usually an automatic interference penalty. Talk about adding insult to injury! Now how about that "board pin" button? EA wouldn't actually map that function to the same button that starts a fight, would they? YEP! You will end up in so many fights trying to initiate "board play" it is ridiculous.

5. Ineffective Loose Puck Deke. My favorite move in NHL 11 and 12 is now suddenly ineffective. This move takes skill and practice to perform, and I had worked to perfect it's use. In NHL 2013, even Malkin or Ovechkin can't perform this deke. The puck goes drifting off and the player just sort of looks at it. I have tried dozens of times now and have yet to complete this deke successfully. Very sad, because this deke was so fun to perform and so difficult to master when to use it. When you did it right it was so satisfying.

5. Weird animations. There are some bizarre and jerky skating animations. The skating is so fluid and great in this game, and then suddenly your skater jumps and jerks for some unknown reason. Actually, it's hard to figure out what specifically causes this to occur, but it seems tied to the cheap cpu AI "holding" I mentioned earlier. When your skater encounters this invisible "AI holding force field" at certain angles or with too much speed, the player seems to "bounce" away or warps awkwardly right through it.

6. True Performance Skating vs AI opponents. I mention this as a negative for this reason only. The computer controlled skaters sprint/accelerate constantly in almost all game situations. (although they do pull up and glide when carrying the puck down ice when necessary) This is not really cheap because you are able to do the same thing if you want to. The difference being that for humans it's a combination of stick presses and stick pushes combined with the normal button pressing to obtain the same result. It's just tiring to your fingers to be constantly clicking in on that left stick to accelerate.

7. Checking. While the computer controlled opposition knocks down every player in its path at will, the skaters you control will mysteriously "bounce off" a player you had lined up with a perfect check from 100 feet away. You still do complete some of your checks, but in this game, unlike NHL 2012, it feels like the computer decides when a check will be effective or not, discarding any real world physics.

While this is still a solid Hockey game, my theory is this. EA wanted to get the scoring down and have the final scores be more realistic. While the AI is improved with regards to positioning, anyone with a keen eye can see this isn't the main reason why the scoring is reduced. It's actually a combination of "cheap" additions to the AI. One timer passes to the slot are largely reduced to useless because of the aforementioned "holding" computer AI. There is also a frequent delay in completing one timers, even if your player is wide open. With even more unexplained errant passes than last year, goalies that cut off every single attempt at a slot pass down low, and AI defenders that intercept every pass in their vicinity, regardless of force, accuracy, or elevation. All these things combine to provide you with a moderate level of frustration.

I will continue to play, and if I notice any improvements through updates, or discoveries that bypass some of the CPU cheapness, I will update my review. Please feel free to comment politely. I've been playing NHL since the first version on Sega Genesis, so I consider myself somewhat of an expert on what makes a great hockey game.

Perhaps I bring an unfair perspective to reviewing EA's NHL '13 in that I actually played hockey for 14 years. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I question whether ANY of EA's developers even bothered working with current or past players to refine the game. Here are my red flags/complaints as I see them with the game:

1) Physics Engine: Everyone is raving about this across the EA nation but I'm just not impressed, at least not for NHL. There is NO explosiveness and any hockey player will tell you that going fast is completely different than being explosive. Actually, I would think EA would understand this concept simply from their football history. None of the gameplay in NHL '13 allows for a player to be explosive. It's like getting a train moving each time you get the puck and start moving forward. This makes for a lot of awkward, uncoordinated, completely unrealistic moments in which players look lost and are unable to get possession of a puck just out of reach without circling around or putting the brakes on and creeping back the other direction. There also is no ability to lunge to get possession of the puck, something that happens on the ice every shift. All you can do is "poke" the puck away, hoping it ends up on one of your teammates sticks. It's pathetic and is a HUGE missing element in keeping this game somewhat realistic.

As stated in other reviews here, the engine also creates pathetic collisions. Players going full speed into each other will just "bounce" off each other while a player going full speed into one standing still will fall down. Unless it's Martin St.Louis going full speed into Zdeno Chara, I don't see that happening a lot.

2) Passing: It's awful. It's not like FIFA where you can direct a pass in the general direction and the AI knows who you're targeting. Instead, players who are breaking free, wide open, never get a stick to stick pass. Instead the puck is simply sent up the ice usually to a defender. I've seen better passing in PeeWee leagues when I was 12.

3) AI Strategy: What's up with all 5 opposing players lining up along the blue line directly after a faceoff in the neutral zone? When you rush in it makes it impossible to make a move around any one player because there is another defender within feet of the one you're breaking around.

4) Goaltenders: Are altogether awful or unbelievable. Every save Gary Thorne is yelling "WHAT AN AMAZING SAVE!!!" and it gets exhausting, esp hearing Thorne and his co-pilot go bananas on a save made from a backhand shot from the point. Most saves in the NHL are fairly mediocre in terms of WOW factor.

5) Goals: Over the course of about 50 hours played, I'd estimate that 30% of the goals being scored are extreme short side goals. Totally unreal. Never seen a top=rated goaltender like DiPietro or Thomas give up the short side, especially upstairs. Similarly, about 85% of the goals scored were above the waist -another fallacy. At least half of all goals that are scored are below the knees, mainly because there is less interference (guys legs are thinner than their midsections) and they're often more difficult to stop for a goaltender (dropping their knees to butterfly is most often not as quick as their glove). Of course this depends on the 'tender -some guys have great gloves or a great knees (or both).

6. Goal Reviews: Why did they bother installing this "feature?" Every time I had a goal being reviewed, it was still called a goal.

There are things that I love about the NHL franchise. They're the only one that has a comprehensive minor-league element which I find exciting. It breaks down players beyond just "scorers" and "brawlers" to include other dynamics of the game.

But the gameplay is still hurting and the new physics engine needs work. Don't believe the hype. You will have frustrating goals scored against you, awkward and unrealistic collisions and movements on the ice and you might just want to mute the Gary Thorne once in a while with all of his recycled lines.

First, note that this is not the same game as Mushihimesama Futari. If you're looking for the Limited Edition of Futari, go here: Mushihimesama Futari Ver 1.5 [Limited Edition] [Japan Import]

The Limited Edition version of Mushihimesama comes in a box with alternate artwork, a music CD, and comes with a DLC card to unlock 1.5 arrange mode (also called "Matsuri" mode in arcades). When buying a used copy, I highly suggest asking the seller if the DLC card has been used or not, because this arrange mode is extremely good.

Both versions of Mushihimesama (limited edition and standard edition) are region locked for Japan only, and will not work on North American or PAL consoles.

Rock Band ROADIE Bass Drum Pedal Reviews

Rock Band ROADIE Bass Drum Pedal
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Our entire family enjoys Rock Band. When our drum pedal cracked, I researched all of the options out there to repair it: A cut out piece of aluminum diamond plate that screws onto the original broken foot pedal, a fancier machined piece of aluminum that also screws onto the original foot pedal, a machined aluminum billet foot pedal that compelely replaced the cracked piece but used the rest of the original Rock Band pedal base, and replacement pedals made out of Maple wood or clear Plexiglass.

What I found was most people were happiest with a replacement billet aluminum foot pedal, due to the extra weight overcoming the very stiff stock spring of the Rock Band pedal. However, durability of the original plastic base then became a problem, with no easy fix to replace or repair a broken base unit.

The only other option was a host of real drumset bass pedals that have been modified with the switch and cord necessary to plug into the Rock Band Drum Kit. These were all reviewed very highly by expert players for their "real" feel, and because they were genuine all metal kick pedals the durability was unquestioned. However, these modified kick drum pedals were very expensive, and I found none under $100.

Then I found the Rock Band Roadie pedal. It is actually the same pedal that will be included with the $300 premium Ion drumset for Rock Band II, so that was one point in it's favor. Second, further research revealed that is is actually a hi-hat pedal sold for electronic drumsets, which is a second vote of confidence in it's favor. Finally, the price at $39.99 for an all-metal foot pedal and base was very reasonable, and within a few dollars of the high end billet aluminum replacement foot pedals.

The pedal that we received had a proper 1/4" right angle plug on one end and a 1/8" plug on the other. No 1/4" to 1/8" adaptor as shown here. The pedal has a lighter return spring tension, which makes it much easier to play the fast notes, and greatly reduces leg fatigue. Another factor that makes this pedal easier to play is that it is at a lower angle to the floor, so you don't have to raise the toe of your foot nearly as high.

After a month of the entire family beating it to death, including a 15 year old playing expert, we all agree that the Rock Band Roadie pedal is the best option for your broken Rock Band drum pedal.

***THIS PEDAL WILL NOT WORK WITH THE ROCK BAND 2 DRUM SET***

It will work fine with the Rock Band 1 kit, or the ION Drums, obviously. However, performance is extraordinarily poor and almost always fails to register on the Rock Band 2 drum set. While the pedal itself is quality, and certainly will not break, those attempting to use it with the RB2 drum set will be in for a large disappointment.

Best Deals for Rock Band ROADIE Bass Drum Pedal

I play a lot of Rock Band, and stomping down on my pedal is something I usually do. In fact, I've only bought a new PS3 EL RB1 kit and the stock pedal already cracked near the hinge, and I have a problem with double hits on it. Upgrading to the Roadie somewhat improved my scores on Level 1-4 songs, but when it came to Level 5-6 songs, I wouldn't even dare heel-toe-ing it to death.

This is actually a hi-hat pedal, not a bass pedal. A hi-hat is designed to open and close gently or sort of hard, not to be stomped and heel-toed on. That's what a bass pedal is for. I was also disappointed that it's still getting double hits, because of the small switch clamped to the IC. That's the reason I don't want to stomp on it so hard, is because that clamp can end up breaking, and with my weight (I'm 220lb, and the force I apply when I stomp on this pedal is definitely strong) I can pretty much half the expected life of these things.

If you play on Medium, Hard, or early Expert tiers, get this pedal. It'll definitely increase your scores. If you're like me and you play on Expert drums all the time, and are looking to finally FC songs because your stock pedal dropped notes for a GS, I recommend getting something more durable like the Rock Pedal, Destroyer, or Value Pedal.

Honest reviews on Rock Band ROADIE Bass Drum Pedal

This fabulous pedal was manufactured and designed well. One can truly pedal faster and with less fatigue with its smooth spring mechanism. And, the Velcro (or screw-down) stabilizer keeps your foot securely parked in place! It is a little louder than the original pedal; but honestly, it is not noticeable while rocking out. Regarding customer service, I ordered the product on a Monday and received it on the proceeding Friday (under promised and over delivered shipping date)! Buy this pedal now!

This product is for a expert drummer if your a novice i would stick to the stock pedal and maybe a medal plate reinforcement all in all this pedal is very durable if ur goin threw fast taping it works very well and is very easy to press down, gets kinda of noisey like metal on metal taping,if your stereo is loud enough its not very noticable but its why i gave the product 4 stars instead of 5 but i still highly recommand if your wanting a precise drumming experience on expert!

Reviews of Major League Baseball 2K11 - Xbox 360

Major League Baseball 2K11 - Xbox 360
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Let me start off by saying that I buy only one video game a year on release day and that is my yearly MLB 2K game. I prefer to wait and read reviews. However, I can't wait to unwrap 2K's baseball bad boy and see whats changed. I'm sorry to say that this year's edition is lacking!

First, the graphics are at times awesome. Stadium detail and environmental factors are wonderful. Spring training looks crisp with large rolling clouds and Florida palms. However, player development, appearances, and signatures come off on the lazy side. Batting stances and pitching deliveries look very similar if not identical to last year. As a devoted fan, I'm offended by this! I want more accurate appearances, tweaks, and signatures. I do not want a "new" $60 roster update. Secondly, The camera angles and fluidity of motion in gameplay is patchy. Sometimes it comes off flawless. However, the next time the camera will sometimes jerk and give unnatural pauses. Its almost like the visuals can't catch up to the gameplay. I have since installed this game to my hard drive and it runs a lot better. This may not be an option for you depending on your drive size. I'd give this a poor overall score of 2 out of 5.

The gameplay is solid. I have found the controls that 2K uses feel more natural and balanced compared to games like The Show. I felt last year's game had issues with analog movement and pitch recognition. This year's game seems to recognize this much better. I've found that holding the analog stick in place after delivering your pitch motion seems to help. I also like that the pitching is more accurate with ball to strike ratio. However, the umpires literally give you no corner strikes. The A.I. on the game will seriously test your patience. You can be up 0-2 on a hitter only to watch him pass on 4 straight pitches on the black. If you have a quick temper, you might want to take a few breathers. The A.I. batters will literally single your pitcher to death sometimes. The fielding controls seem to be fluid but highly sensitive. Its very easy to make simple mistakes by not adjusting your position or timing and release. You also have very little time to nail speedy baserunners. The batting remains mostly unchanged from last year and sufficient. Overall, I would rate the gameplay at a 3.5/5.

The intangibles of the game leave me pretty disappointed. My favorite gameplay is franchise mode and little has been done to improve this feature. Forget accurate waiver, F/A signings, or customization. I don't know who comes up with player contract information, but I have found several errors. For instance, Brian McCann starts a franchise in a walk year. In reality, McCann signed a six year contract in 2007 with a team option for a seventh. It would really awesome if somehow option contracts could make there way into the game. However, I would settle on 2k just getting the basics down first! Secondly, I've had several games where I've hit a homerun only to have the computer scale the wall for a catch. This is fine, but it ends up counting as a homerun and an out. Finally, one of the biggest complaints I have is in instant replay. This might just sound picky but the home plate umpire disappears. At first, I thought this was a glitch. However, every instant replay outside of swing analysis lacks the presence of a home plate umpire. Where does he go? 1.5/5.

I'll continue to play MLB 2K11 and hope for some patches to fix the flaws. However, I don't think they can't patch out all of the "lazy" efforts in the game. My numbers average out to 2.3, but I'm rounding up on the hope that 2K improves the game in the next few weeks. In conclusion, I truely believe if The Show was marketed to Xbox, 2K sports would up their efforts!

I'll give the game four stars, because it is really well-rendered and looks great. The play is also better. The only problems that still carry over from MLB 2K10 are:

1. Batters will still check-swing for no reason.

2. (Not a problem, just not understandable) When the game shows the replay of a hit (like a two-RBI double), it follows the runners rounding the bases instead of a wide shot showing the ball hitting the gap.

3. A problem I'm only encountering in Franchise Mode: the game freezes. That's a problem, especially since it doesn't seem to do it early on in the game. It tends to do it around the seventh or eight inning, when you REALLY don't want to go and play the whole thing over again. Your only recourse at that point is to shut the console down and fire it up again. No, it's not my console. I've checked the boards online and a lot of people are encountering this issue.

I have to add, I've NEVER encountered this problem just doing the Quick Play, although some on the boards say they have.

The pitching is about the same. The batting mechanics are the same. I've noticed, for some reason, if a grounder is hit up the middle and the SS or Second Baseman isn't right there to dive for it, if you try to run at it, he runs in slow motion and it gets by.

It's still fun to play, if you can get past the glitches. And, in my opinion, they're not MAJOR fun-killers.

So I picked up this game day-one because I was loving what I had seen from both the demo and multiple blogs/pics/videos. I was so excited to play a full game, and start a franchise. Yeah, once I played the first game, my joy turned to frusteration because the bugs started to show. Lets just get this out of the way now, the game is just OK.

The first problem for me was the way the game presents itself. I really dont know why they found it necessary to change the camera angles, especially in the field. When the ball is hit, I undestand the concepts that they were going for with a Television broadcast, it just doesnt work. The field looks distorted when they go to these views and they just look very poor. When you are controlling the fielders the view is just too close, on pop files is where this is really a problem. Last year, the game used a sky cam that still showed detail and here you go closer and get good detail but very hard to judge fly balls, whether your player is super good or super bad.

The game also is very graphically sound but it costs it in the frame rate category. The frame rate drops and gets really choppy on pop ups, really high foul balls and really high pop ups on the infield especially. The game is looking better but running worse, take your pick but I would rather a game flow better than look prettier.

The mechanics are much of the same and there are some minor changes as far as they go like more customized stances and movements, but overall it just doesnt make the game more playable and thats the biggest problem.

Pitching can be hit and miss and while I appreciate the "non-spot-on" because no matter if you are the best pitcher or the worst, none are spot on every single pitch. I really think that overall the delays that you get when you are watching the motion draws out the game in an unnecessary way. It moves too slow and can really throw off your timing.

Again, this game is OK, its not an improvement over 2k10, which I enjoyed, actually its probably a little worse. When it comes down to it I really feel like the developers had to know that these bugs were here but I guess when you have the rights to something that makes you the sole producer its ok to just put something out because when you own a 360 its your only option should you love baseball..... Like me :-(

Honest reviews on Major League Baseball 2K11 - Xbox 360

As a long-time player and fan of the 2K franchise, I pre-ordered this from Amazon, tore it out of the box, and started playing with my beloved White Sox. As eager as I was to play and as much as I continue to play it, I have to be honest and only rate it a 3 out of 5 stars. Why? Not much change from the previous version. I can't really say that other than the pplayer updates and a few cosmetic changes, that you need to rush out and get this version unless you are a hard core sports gamer. In fact, while the Madden franchise really put a lot of effort behind speedign up game play from 2010 to 2011, I tend to find the game play in MLB 2K11 somewhat slower than in 2K10. It seems to take a much longer time to choose and then deliver the pitch. One improvement I have noticed is that in 2K10 you could pretty easily foul off balls for a while. 2K11 seems to have gotten smarter in this regard and doens't let you do that quite as easily.

That said, you shouldn't be confused and think that it is not a worthwhile game. It surely is and it is the best baseball game out there for the Xbox platform bar none. You will enjoy the game play immensely. It is just not a major upgrade from the previous version--which isn't always bad!

If there were ever a game which was truly merely a Roster Update, this is it. I am so disappointed in this game, only because it is

last years, with a different menu.

That said, I so enjoyed 2k10! It was the funnest game I had played since Major League Baseball 2005.

Game Controls:

The controls are logical, and easy to learn.

-Pitching is challenging, but in a balanced way, not too hard, but not a cake walk either.

-Hitting with the right stick is much more interesting than simply pushing a button. Again, challenging, but the right balance between a need for focus, and fun; never frustrating when you get the timing down.

-Fielding is logical as well. Go get the ball with the left stick, and throw to the right base with the buttons. My complaint here, is the landing spot indicator is smaller in 2k11, than in 2k10, and until you learn it, it is Very difficult to pick up where the ball will land. Frustrating at first. An un necessary change.

-Base running is so much easier than on MLB The Show! The left trigger, or right bumper advances one, or all runners. An easy, well thought out system! The hard part? if you're on defense, throwing out a base runner is almost impossible. If you're playing, "Career Mode," and you are the pitcher, your catcher NEVER throws out the base runner. I've played 4 seasons, and have just accepted this as a flaw, that was not fixed from 2k10.

-Graphics are beautifully rendered. Stadiums are realistic, but the fans look like cardboard cutouts. The faces of players are generic as well. Now for me the fun is in the game play, so I don't really care about faces, and fans, but it is just lazy, and cheesy that the programmers didn't take enough pride in their work to make the look of the players better.

-Animations. Lazy, no improvement, and no pride in their work. This franchise has been around for many years. Why an outfielder throws toward third, and the ball goes to second; my player throws to first for a final out, than runs half way into the outfield before turning around to go to the dugout, or I can literally disappear into a wall is to me inexcusable. This game is not cheap. If you want to be taken seriously, like Madden, or "The Show," show some pride. Again, it doesn't take away from the game play, but no improvement in animations in years is just sloppy, and in excusable.

There are literally NO changes in game play, modes, graphics, AI, or animations from last years game. It is a roster upgrade, with a different menu. It is the laziest release I've ever seen in a sports game.

Love or hate the latest releases of Madden's, there are differences, and attempts at trying different functions, such as, "Gameflow." This game doesn't even pretend to be different.

The three changes I've seen.

1) Menus are easier to navigate

2) The throw meter is different. It isn't as good, or exact, but it is different.

3) The location of where the ball will land on pop up's and fly balls is smaller, and frustratingly more difficult to read.

Bottom Line: If you have 2k10, keep it. If not, 2k11 is a worthy game, however, you can get 2k10 for a whole lot cheaper than '11, so you might want to think about that as well.

I hope this was helpful.

Happy gaming!

Review of Playstation 3 250GB System - Slim (Redesign)

Playstation 3 250GB System - Slim
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Of course it can play video games and that should be its primary function. It does this well. The online Playstation store makes it easy to browse titles and even better, download free demos. This model (250 GB Slim redesign) comes with enough stock memory to last you a good while, whether you're storing games, music, or movies. I personally like the sliding cover over a retractable disc tray. It eases the placement of the discs so I don't feel like I have to be as delicate, not to mention it's easy to see any dust accumulation and/or access the laser for cleaning. And I don't know that there's problems with the disc tray, but the less moving parts the better. You can hear some of the disc reading noises, but it's usually short lived and not really bothersome anyways. I've had it running night after night, sometimes for 6 hours continuous and it's not getting hot at all...just a slight warmth.

I also now use it to stream Netflix, through which we watch all kinds of TV shows and movies. I would recommend an HDMI cable though, assuming you have a TV capable of supporting it. It makes a noticeable difference in the resolution. The settings can usually be used on default and are fairly intuitive, but there's a wealth of things you can change or tweak to suit your needs. For example I have my HDMI cable running to my TV, but also have the RG cables running to my PA mixer for even bigger sound. But to allow this you have to allow it to split audio outputs first.

There's probably an overabundance of other reviews about its usage, so I'll just close with a glowing recommendation. I played my PS2 for over a decade (still running btw, but obviously no longer in use). This system blows it away. With the PS4 coming out later this year, you might be wary of getting an "outdated" system. If you haven't had this generation system yet, I'd say now is the perfect time to get one. There's literally years worth of games to choose from, many of which are under $20 brand new. And don't expect developers to abandon the PS3 for at least 3-5 more years, and even then, you probably couldn't play everything that's already been released (my Amazon wishlist has over 100 games). So far I've bought one game used and 4 games new, yet the total spent was only about $60...or about as much as a new release game.

One other note: I bought mine used. It showed absolutely no signs of wear, but it was missing 2 of the 4 rubber feet on the bottom. I haven't missed them. Provided you have some level of trust with the seller, I'd say go ahead and buy used if you see a good deal that clearly specifies what's included. They're seemingly sturdy systems. Although I wouldn't get one of the older models, especially a "fat", as those ran hot and tended to have YLOD problems. That being said, the brand new systems are hardly a ripoff either, especially if you're getting a bundle.

Best Deals for Playstation 3 250GB System - Slim (Redesign)

Disclaimer: I'm a first time Playstation buyer. I just upgraded from my trusty, yet very old Wii. I am very new to Playstation, so I won't be able to tell you a lot about how it differs from other Playstations.

I had owned a Wii for around 4 years when I decided it was time for an upgrade. My Wii was pretty good, but it didn't have the controller, graphics, or games that I wanted. So, I began a week-long search for a console. I new one thingit had to be able to play NCAA football and Madden, since I am a complete sports geek XD. So, that narrowed it down to two systemsthe Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. I looked at prices, controllers, layout, games, settings, build, graphics, processors, everything. The Xbox won in almost everything but the price, since you have to pay $60 a year for a Xbox Live Gold membership, which I certainly didn't want to pay. I didn't really know what to expect from either, so I wen't ahead and took a gamble on the PS3. I've never made a better decision. The thing runs like a dream, with only a few laggy spots at very hard-to-process moments. But don't worry, the lag isn't bad at all, and only stays around for 2-3 seconds. No biggie. The layout is great, and easy to access. I bought a bundle with the eye and move, so I could still have that Wii-like aspect if I wanted it. Both controllers work great, and are easy to use. Now, I will get into the real review.

Build-

I bought the PS3 Super Slim, and it is very small. It's actually only around two inches taller then the Wii. You press a button to open the Disc Slot, and simply put the disc in and close the 'door' firmly. It actually is quite fun to close the door. You actually feel like you are manually putting in some software, which is fun. And yes, I do like the simple things in life :) One more thingA lot of reviews say that this console is rather flimsy. I haven't had any problems at all. Honestly, please don't believe what the other reviews say. It really isn't flimsy.

Games-

I only really play Sports games on this, so I can't really review how the first-person shooters look on the PS3, since I'm not really into those. However, seeing how it runs with NCAA and Madden, I don't think you'd have any problems playing GTA 5, Call of Duty, or anything else.

Hardware-

The version I bought comes with 250gb of space, which is way more then I'll ever need. It's processor is fast, the graphics are great, and it really does run like a dream. Of course, it won't equal a mid/high-range gaming pc, but for the ps3 games made for it, this console will work just fine.

Controller-

At first, I didn't like this controller, but it's easy to get used to, and fairly easy to use. Certainly an upgrade from the motion stick that the Wii used :)

Overall-

Honestly, this thing will run just fine for you. It does exactly what a console shouldstays out of the way, is quiet, and lets you immerse yourself in your game, without worrying about what the console is doing. After all, it's more about the content then the console. As long as it runs without lag, I think we are all okay. By the way, I should mention that while the Xbox charges $60 a year for online gaming, Netflix and Hulu+, the Playstation charges nothing. That finalized the deal for me. I actually was able to save even more by purchasing this from Ebay, which brought the bundle's total down from $275 to $225.

Anyway, I recommend this product 100%, and I hope I helped you with your decision.

I am a die hard WRC fan stuck here in the states. I have played the Dirt games but they just don't have enough actual rally courses in them. They keep going back to the stadium events, which are alright but they get old rather quick. This on the other hand... OUTSTANDING! I feel like I have actually been in a race though after playing this though. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is a die hard rally fan like myself. The game offers so many levels of customization that it is just insane. The only gripe I have about it would be the cheesy music, but you can always turn it off or down in the options menu. Other than that I think this game is great, I just wish we could get updates or downloadable content for it here in the states.

This is a very good racer. Bear in mind I have 120+ hours of all Dirt games combined, all of which I liked very much. The graphics in this game are not as good as the later Dirt titles, more like the first DIRT, but the longer stages and rally only racing make it worth it for me. After 1 one race of 3-4 stages of 4+ minutes each, I actually felt like I had been in a race.

Also worthy of note, is that anyone thinking of getting this in the US, it does work! I live in TX, have a NTSC Xbox 360 and it works just fine, even though it says PAL on the box. If you like racing for racing sake , in particular rally racing, then this is a good buy.

I will be putting in many more hours with this one for sure.

I was unsure as to how deep this game would be after seeing some reviews giving it low scores. I love the dirt games but hated Dirt 3 for being so X-gamey. WRC 2 is strictly rally driving. No stadium lame Gymkana crap making do pointless circles. Just off road racing on 78 of the world's tracks. Great control and damage models on the cars. The garage side of the game blew me away. You have to hire people to handle your repairs, find sponsors, Manage the team and many more, and all your crew can earn experience to make your car handle better. The only downside is the graphics are little unpolished, but to be honest, with controls like this, and the best in car camera view i have ever seen, it's a minor gripe. GET THIS GAME and SUPPORT WRC :)

One night a week I will take a shower, but I missed it last week because I was so caught up in this game.

It's better than all the Dirt games combined.

My grandma was pretty ticked at me as that night as well due to the fact that my friends were utilizing the wheel chair ramp she uses to get into into her trailer for our BMX bike jumps. We have a competition next week at the skate park we are training for. My friends and I have the advantage over the high school kids because we are in our mid-thirties except for Dwayne who he is forty-two.

Heheh. I don't think anyone would even admit to playing this game. Perverted premise aside, the game functions as a "rail shooter": it looks sort of like an fps in that the screen shows a first person's perspective, but the player cannot control where the protagonist ("Tenzou") goes. There is a target that you control with the left analog stick on the controller and the "A" button is for shooting. Once in a while, you can zone in on a character and press the "Y" button to activate the " 'dokidoki' field." When you're in this "field," you can press the "top right" button to zoom in. It's fairly simple in that the play mechanics are kind of rough (i.e., the target isn't accurate), so missing targets isn't a big issue.

The game itself is also somewhat simple. However, you should be proficient in Japanese in order to understand the dialogue and options given to you. This is important if you care about getting the "good ending" and the game achievements that come with them. Otherwise, anyone can play this game as a shooting type of game. It's kinda fun, a bit addicting, and perversely funny. Since there are four "heroines" the protagonist pursues, the player has to play the game four times. The game itself should take about 90 minutes to 2 hours per heroine to beat depending on whether you're reading/listening to the dialogue. The complete game should take a few hours to beat.

Graphics are alright. The characters look like a mix of 2D and 3D polygons. Whether this is good or bad is a matter of preference. I tend to gravitate towards the flat, two-dimensional, "cartoon" look rather than the pseudo-realistic style of today's popular games; so, if you like Japanese cartoons and/or animation in general, this should look good. One of the downsides I noticed was the music: I think there were, maybe, three or four songs for the entire video game soundtrack/album. Yeah, kinda repetitive, but inoffensive.

Since this is an import, prices for it can be quite steep. I would not recommend paying more than 80 bucks for this game. The game should cost between $70 to 80 new and less than that if it's used. There's an extensive free demo available on 360 live, so players can see for themselves.

Lastly, as odd as this may sound, the game is censored/edited. This was done early on in the game's release. The game developers decided to take out certain game camera angles that used to allow the protagonist do upskirt zoom-in shots. Hahah. I'm not making this up it's as embarrassingly-perverted and juvenile as it sounds. This game edit does not affect the gameplay at all, but I suppose those who wanted to hit pay-dirt may have to look elsewhere.

One of the legacies that will ultimately mark the seventh generation of video game consoles is its obsessions with upscalling sixth generation video games, add in throphies or achievements and sell it either on disc or as DLC. So many games from last gen have had second lives on this gen from Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, Tekken, Splinter Cell, God of War, Okami, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Silent Hill, Ico & Shadow of the Colossus, Sly Cooper, Yada Yada Yada. What does this really tell you? That games were simply better back? Sure I won't deny it. Games from the last gen have aged much better than games from previous generations? I agree. That games today lack the finese and standards that games just a generation ago possessed? Pretty much dead on I say. Pretty much when a game we loved back in the day gets an HD upgrade, we all get excited. Not one to skimp out on this trend is Capcom. They've put two major entries from their Resident Evil saga that have yet to appear on the PS3. And that is where this review comes from.

The review is ofcourse Biohazard Revival Selection, a Japan-only blu ray that contains Biohazard 4 and Biohazard Code Veronica in HD. Just a reminder, in Japan, Resident Evil is called Biohazard. But I will pretty much call them Resident Evil in this review because we are more familiar with that name over Biohazard. So anyways, like I mentioned, in Japan the game came out in both digital and physical disc form for those with really crude Internet connections. However for the rest of the world, Resident Evil 4 HD and Code Veronica HD only came out on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PS Store. But don't think the disc version excuses the player from installing the game. That is not the case. It turns out that the blu ray acts as both the installation disc and the key for one to be able to play the games. You still will have to install the game on to your HDD but will need to insert the disc in every time you want to play the games. This is ofcourse to detract players from only installing the game once and then giving out or lending the disc in to another user.

The inclusion of RE CV and RE4 on the PS3 marks a significant occasion as it is now the only system where you can experience the main cannon Resident Evil games from the original all the way up to the sixth game which is due out Fall 2012. Though the PS3 still lacks Revelations (a pretty important game in terms of storyline progression), but knowing Capcom, they could be planning a port of that game on to the HD systems, with 3D capabilities.

The first game of this collection is Resident Evil Code Veronica HD. Originally a Dreamcast game, Code Veronica's port to Hd was not a very impressive one. While the game is still creepy, muddy textures, blurry lighting, and dated game mechanics ultimately hamper the experience. Many hold Code Veronica highly though for its lengthy quest, genuinely scary moments, and engaging though campy story.

Resident Evil 4 HD is the highlight of this collection. Originally released on the GameCube back in 2005, Resident Evil 4 was eventually ported to the PS2, PC, and Wii prior to the HD upgrade. 4 stands as the current blueprint of the series as it is now a full fledge action game franchise. The HD upgrade looks gorgeous thought using the Wii version as the template. Contrary to what some critics have said, the Wii version was used not the PS2 port. The main game uses in game engine for the cutscenes just like with the Wii version. However, just like in the Wii version, if you are wearing Leon's third costume, the cutscenes will revert to Leon's default costume. Another complaint from the critics is with the Separate Ways missions. In case none of you noticed, the Wii version used prerendered cinmatics for Ada's adventure. And because they are prerendered cinematics native in 480i, you will notice how bad they look on the HD update.

GAMEPLAY:

I have only invested a small amount of time in the game so far, I have no more then one car; (1998 Nissan 240SX), but in this short time invested, I can tell you that the handling far exceeded my expectations. The cars have a serious weight to them, and its an excellent balance between an arcade and simulation feel. There are some interesting features within the game as well that really stand out. For starters, you have the ability to purchase "special abilities," these are things like "electro magnetic pulse, or EMP," that allow you to temporarily take down the oppositions cars. Its really quite a neat idea I believe, and even thou I'm far from attaining those abilities, I think it will add a certain element of strategy to the game that we've yet to see in a racing game.

Is the game difficult you ask? I've been reading a lot about people complaining that they find this game a lil difficult... Well I gotta say, it certainly isn't easy by an means. But it sure as heck ain't terribly hard or impossible like some people would have you believe either. Yes you have to know how to drive, if you can't drive in the real world, don't expect to ace this game, its a challenge, you must make sure you pay attention to where your traveling, and also watch for traffic, it's quite the intense experience I must say.

GRAPHICS:

Excellent in this department. I was surprised to find out that the developers used the "RAGE" engine that GTAIV is based off of. It runs very smoothly so far, and everything looks excellent. There's also a great sense of speed in this game, which is a must for any racing game, but especially a street racing game. Each of the games 45 or so cars and bikes are excellently detailed, and they all include INTERIOR VIEWS!!! Heck yes, I expect nothing less anymore, and I really hope the next installment of FORZA Motorsport will include dashboards for EVERY car as well. The interior view is great and it's the view I use the most. I must also point out that its a nicer seating position in the car then the latest installment of Project Gotham Racing. PGR3 had a great seating position in the car where you could clearly see the gauges, as well as where you were heading. But PGR4's quite frankly sucked, at least in my opinion.

The city of Angels looks absolutely incredible in this game, and its; almost like being there. There's a great amount of detail included in the city, and it's just a joy to look at while driving around or racing by at 180MPH! Another interesting feature is the awesome way you transition between the full city map and the game. It's very much like Test Drive Unlimited, and those that have played TDU will know exactly what I mean. Its extreamly smooth in it's transitions between the map of the city and the game, and you get wisked from a real time birds-eye view of LA right back into your car at the touch of a button, magnificent!

CUSTOMIZATION:

I gave this area of the game its own heading, because there is simply so much of it that you can do and its generally a huge aspect of the game. Everything and anything on your car can be customized, from the body panels, to the doors, to the headlights and taillights, interior features etc, and of course performance mods. Here is a quick list of what can be done:

EXTERIOR:

Body panels, front and rear, as well as side skirts

Wide body kits

Headlights

Taillights

Exhaust tip

Rims

Tires (branding and tread pattern, or tire model)

Neon

Ride Height

Paint (Pearl, Metallic, Sparkle, Gloss, Matte)

Roof and hood

Carbon fibre panels

VINYLS

INTERIOR:

Colour scheme

Seats

Neons

Gauges

Steering wheel

Floor mats

PERFORMANCE: all categories have three stages, and you may choose the brands of the parts you install..

Intake

Exhaust

Suspension

Boosted / NA (Turbocharge or Supercharge)

Engine Internals strengthened

Roll bars

Brakes

Tires

Nitrous

(there are more, I can't remember them all at the moment)

Another nice touch is that if you aren't terribly in to tuning cars, then you may choose to have the game "auto tune" your car for you. It will select the best parts for you automatically if you choose, to take the guess work out of it for you.

CONTROL:

No problem here, like I mentioned in the gameplay section, the cars handle very nicely. You are afforded a modest amount of drift control around corners via the e-brake, or just turning in hard and asjusting the accelerator appropriately. I have remapped the right joystick to allow me freedom of head movement in the cabin, so I can look left, right, up, or down. Thats something else that deserves a mention, we've come to the point in console gaming it seems, after so many years that developers are starting to allow us to customize the control scheme are selves, which is EXCELLENT!

AUDIO:

Another well done department here. The tires sound just right biting the pavement, and the engines pur at idle or scream under hard acceleration. My 240SX sounds bang on to my buddies real 240, and screams and pops like the real deal at all the right times. The music is a nice selection of songs, but I prefer to have the in game race music off so i can hear my car. Sound effects are well don, I can hear the gear changes when I'm in the interior view, little details like that really bring the game alive.

MULTIPLAYER:

I really have no input here, as I have yet to try it, but it seems like it might be awesome, you should be able to go online with some buddies and just drive around LA or race, which ever you choose. You can also race for PINKS!

REPLAY VALUE:

I'd say its probably fairly high, as you ca go back and re-run each race for another attempt at besting your score, and earn more money. Although there may be slightly less incentive to re try the whole career again once completed, which is usually a tend with racing games anyway, so no loss there.

BOTTOM LINE:

U CAN EDIT EVERY THING THAT YOU DID IN THE LAST ONE IS THIS ONE PLUS MORE.

BUY THIS GAME IF YOU HAVE AN INTEREST IN RACING AT ALL! Its really well done in my opinion, with subtle touched like interiors in every car, and damage, as well as the amazing selection of car customization options, and just generally good amount of racing, its worth every penny of the asking price.

Well I don't know if anyone's interested, but it would have saved me some time and money knowing which version was better on either the PS3 or the XBOX 360.

HANDS DOWN...XBOX 360...it almost looks like the difference between an original PS"2" game and an XBOX 360 game. I had both systems set to the same HD settings on the console and my television(HDTV 57") channels were identically set as well. The PS3 version just simply looked blurry and bland in color. The XBOX 360 version had much more detail and was crisp. I drove to the exact spot on both systems and my kids and I sat and watched the people walk by and noticed all the texture on the cars and pedestrians. The difference was noticable instantly. I wouldn't have believed it was such a huge difference if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.

However, I would have taken someone elses word for it. I hope this helps

This game is pretty awesome. Took a while to get used to the handling of the cars, but once I got that downI completely dominate.

Never was a fan of the other MC games. My buddy actually put me on this one. I give it a 5 of 5 for graphics. And 5 of 5 for playability.

Honest reviews on Midnight Club: Los Angeles - Xbox 360

ok, the first midnight clubs were cool, but this one brings it to a whole new level. the graphics first off are the best, maybe a little better than gta iv, and i am ashamed of saying that. around the city of L.A. you will see real stores and logos, such as best buy, game stop, pizza hut etc. the cars are awesome, if you just start out playing it will take a little getting used to, because you dont know the controls. this is the best midnight club game

This is my first time playing a game from the Midnight Club series. It is a fun game that has a lot of similarites in play to the GTA series. My opinion is that if you love GTA and you are looking for a racing game, this is the one for you. I hate how some racing games make it such a pain in the rear to handle the car. You spend more time learning to deal with that than having fun racing. This game does a good job of not doing that. The cars are user friendly but still take skill to weave in and out of traffic and evade the police.

My only con to this game is that I wish there were more variety of vehicles to buy. Other than that it is a fun game.

The good:

One of the most addicting games of all times makes its way to Xbox and the transition is very smooth. While this version has been re-written specially for consoles, it does keep most of the original gameplay. If you haven't done this already, download the demo and see for yourselves what this is all about.

The game has 5 difficulty settings. For those of you that had trouble beating the demo worry not. The easiest setting is extremely easy unlike it was in the demo.

All 16 civilizations are available right from the start. You can select any of them and play through skirmish missions, Game of the Week or a set of modified skirmishes. This last one has around 10-15 'missions' where the Skirmish rules have been changed. For example on one map there are more and tougher barbarians, on other there is no diplomacy, etc. Game of the Week is being updated every Sunday and will allow you to play against the AI, in same exact conditions as all other XBox Live players. Then you will be able to see your rank versus other players in the world.

The version of the game that I bought includes a free 'wonders' code, to be used for downloading extra wonders. Did not try it yet, so do not know yet what is included.

Graphics are excellent a bit cartoonish, but perfect for the gameplay. There doesn't seem to be any noticeable improvement over the graphics from the demo, so what you see in the demo is what you will get.

The Manual is excellent. Gives a lot of detail and covers all the info you need. If you play on Easiest setting, the game will also act like a Tutorial, which is helpful, if you have never played this before.

The bad:

You have no control over skirmishes. Basically, all maps are randomly generated which is great, because you never get to play the same map. However if you want to select map size, number of players, individual difficulty for AI players this is not possible.

I was hoping the game will have a Campaign, that you can play with your favorite Civilization. There is none. This being the case not sure how long will it take for the fun to wear out.

There is a lot of slowdown when the camera has to pan on longer distances. Not sure why the Xbox 360 demo did not have these issues. It's not unplayable, but it gets annoying after a while.

There isn't enough diversity between the civilizations. Each civilization has some special units, but there isn't enough of them. Most of the time, you will play with same units.

Overall: if you are new to this or unsure try the demo. Otherwise give this game a try. Despite some minor annoyances, it's definitely worth it!

This is the Civilization I have been waiting for! I have played through a full campaign and I have to say I love it. I love not having to build every road and micromanaging every square. They left all the good parts in but removed the tasks that became mundane towards the end of the other Civ titles.

It has the same technology trees as the other civ games so if you are familiar with them you will catch on quickly.

Multiplayer games now finish in 2-4 hours instead of 12 hours like the previous iterations of this franchise.

If you enjoyed Civ but were longing for faster game play this is the game for you.

This is what every turned based strategy war game should strive for.

the only problem I had with the game was the advisor and enemy animations were annoying to me at first but after the tutorial guy went away the other advisors kind of grew on me.

If world domination is a goal of yours and you don't think your current career track is going to get you there I highly recommend this game as the next closest thing.

Best Deals for Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution - Xbox 360 (Greatest Hits)

This game is different. It is not the same as regular Civilization and it is not like any other console RTS out there. This game uses a very simplified version of Civilization and mixes it with some RTS elements. The game is simplified. And if you can't handle that it you mine as well just go play some Civ4. BUT, If you had a hard time getting into any of the Civ games but always held a great interest this is THE game for you.

In it's simplification Civilization Revolution holds a certain chess like aspect to it. When you move one of your warriors to the wrong place in a difficult match you'll end up wishing for a redo button. Every move counts on the harder difficulties.

Other awesome parts of this game includes the achievements, the colorful graphics, and the many different choices of leaders. Some problems include that the game can occasionally be off-puting when you play a 3 hour game and lose AND get no achievements. But often I learned from my mistakes and that did not happen to often.

Overall this game is well worth the five stars and easily worth the $37 dollar price tag Amazon has on it right now. If you're looking for a great strategy game, do not pass this one up.

Honest reviews on Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution - Xbox 360 (Greatest Hits)

Well, I'm not going to say all of the same stuff as the other reviewers, most of which I agreed with.

I did want to add a few comments, tho.

I did not agree the the game was horribly slow. The speed was just fine for me while maneuvering around the screen and I felt that if the panning across the screen had gotten any faster, I would have lost track of where I was. Occassionally, as it was going from the map view to another view, it would hang up a little bit, and that was mildly irritating, but it wasn't bad enough to say the game speed was horrendous. It just wasn't up to expectations.

I didn't think the graphics were that bad. They weren't high end, tho. What I was most disappointed by was how close I could zoom in. The controller lets you pull up a little higher, but no zooming in really close.

I wasn't a big fan of the navigation in the civilopedia. It wasn't horrible, but it also wasn't the fastest experience trying to find information.

I kind of missed the little workers. That surprised me.

And I REALLY missed the musical score I am used to hearing in the background. I turned down the volume on the advisors since the gibberish they talk got to be ridiculous, but all I heard after that was some of the sounds from the cities (production noises). I wondered at the lack of music. It really lowered the fun value to not have it there.

The navigation took a little while to get used to. Once I got it, it flowed fine.

What I really missed was the little cheater blue circles that showed the ideal place to put your cities. It makes it a little harder to decide where to put them. Kind of a bummer.

And near the end, the advisors showed up every two seconds to tell me how I could win the game (by doing this or that) and if I didn't do what they asked, they wouldn't stop showing up. That got to be a bit ridiculous.

Anyway, if you are a hardcore fan of civ, you probably won't be very excited by this version. It is REALLY pared down. There were little differences everywhere, but not big enough to warrant a $60 purchase. I think this is a good game if you want to play a quick civ game. But you might want to reconsider if not. I'll still play it, tho, since my pc version always freezes up on me. I just hope that they make some serious improvements in future versions.

Civilization on a console. Sorta left a bad taste in my mouth when I first said it. I really thought it was going to be a dumbed down easy port that would let down anyone who's played the original series. To my suprise however this game makes a very smooth transition to consoles. The smaller scale that made me think this game would be "dumbed down" actually makes it more challenging because you have to really compete for resources. The A.I. is good like in any other Civ game, they'll really kick your butt on higher difficulty levels. This is a really cool game that anyone can play because of the various difficulty levels. The cartoony look works really well. The other Civs you can encounter are often times pretty funny. The only things I have against it are you can't play against your friends one-on-one (there always has to be a total of six Civs), there's really not that good of a diplomacy option, and you can't play someone else at all on the same console. Other than that a great game that anyone can enjoy.
