Black 250GB 250 GB Hard Drive Disk HDD for Xbox 360 SLIM Review

Black 250GB 250 GB Hard Drive Disk HDD for Xbox 360 SLIM

Received my 250GB hard drive yesterday, it took about 30 seconds to install. and works great so far! I would like to note that amazon suggests buying the xbox360 transfer kit with this item. Which is NOT needed. You just have to go to the storage section on your xbox Dashboard and transfer your saved items from internal memory to your new Hard drive. I had 3.1GB of data to transfer and it only took about 5 minutes.

Also, in some cases you may not be able to use some of your DLC, all you have to do to fix this is go into your account page on the Xbox Dashboard and go to the "Transfer Licenses" option, then transfer the licenses from your INTERNAL MEMORY to your HARD DRIVE. I haven't had to do this yet, but it was brought to my attention that it may happen.

This product works in Xbox360 Slims ONLY. not the old models.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention that even though it says that this hard drive is 250GB, You really only have about 228GB of space to use. This is the case with most Hard drives. 228GB should still be plenty of space for most people.

Example: Installing Forza Motorsport 4 (disc 1) to my Hard drive took up 7.6GB of space (This took about 10 mins). Skyrim took up 3.8GB of space (less than 5 mins).

This is not the original xbox 360 Hard drive but it works exactly the same way. I've had it for many months now and so far no problems. Very satisfied with this product and would definitely recommend for anyone that wants to save some money.

So I was a bit skeptical about this hard drive. I took a chance, good thing I did since my 4GB Xbox 360 S from Walmart did not contain a hard drive. I installed it and to my surprise it worked. It fit really tight and caused some slight cosmetic damage to the drive upon insertion and removal. I had to apply ample amounts of pressure to install and uninstall the drive. Upon removal there was several scratches on the drive and pieces of plastic shaved off of the drive due to the tight fit. I removed any excess material and blew out the hard drive slot and it worked fine. A little scary when it did not want to fit, but it is working fine.

ProsMuch cheaper than the MS version and it works.

ConsThis hard drive fit a little tight. I had to apply a good amount of force to install it and even more to remove it. Upon removal there was scrapes on the drive due to the hard fit. I took and removed any loose plastic that was damaged and reinstalled it.

11/30/2012 UPDATE

I have had this hard drive for several months now and it is still working great. So glad I made this purchase.

I bought this Hard Drive about a month ago, but it is starting to act up. My xbox loads a little slower, and I've gotten the Red Dot once in a while, but it hasn't flat out crashed. I recently bought an xbox original game online, and found out the hard way that this was not a Microsoft certified hard drive. If you don't intend to play any xbox original games, then go ahead and buy this for the price, but it sucks when you can't play classics such as Knights of the Old Republic, Battlefront, or Halo. I'm going to return this before it completely crashes and just buy the actual Microsoft Hard Drive.

Triple packs are the way to go when building your Skylanders collection. Since Swap Force was released, it is getting increasingly difficult to find the original Series 1 or Series 2 Skylanders. Keep in mind, all figures are forward-compatible but not backward compatible. I started my 5 year old on Spyro's Adventure over the summer. He is playing the Giants game now and will probably be ready for Swap Force by December. This gives the figures a longer playing life.

The great thing about these figures is they are pretty durable. My 2 and 5 year old play with them offline more often than not, and not one has broken (yet).

This triple pack contains a Fire, Life and Earth Skylander.

these are the same skylanders that you buy in the store the kids love them and buy as may as they can when they can. It is a neat concept . you put them on this pad and they appear in the game. the kids enjoy just playing with them at the table also.

Got it for cheap on a lightning deal. Loved rock band 3 so i had to get it. Plus I had a 20 dollars off discount from the GOW3 Preorder. The bonus tracks are great too. (otherside, by the way, under the bridge, californication, and the adventures of rain dance maggie. Guitar is better than I expected. The only I problem i had with is I cant feel where I am on the fretboard since all the "strings" feel the same.

I was having a hard time choosing between this game, Darksiders and Bayonetta and I think I made the right choice. For starters this game is alot of fun. The graphics are really good, picture perfect. The gameplay is good also lots of duck, cover, and fire. The AI seems way more responsive and better than the last game with different commands you issue your partner,Also you can switch from a right angle OTS to left angle OTS witch is really helpfull for those enemies who are hard to see on either side of the screen. One thing I have a problem about this game just like any other action game that has come out for the ps3 and xbox 360 is the lenght of the single player campaign. I've played the game for 3 hours now and I'm already on the 3rd chapter, I checked my trophie menu on my ps3 and counted only 5 chapters in the game. This is the reason I play rpg's because you actually get your $60 dollars worth. Videogame companies spend too much time trying to make the online gaming experience so great that they make the regular playthrough so short. Not alot of people can play online so they can only hope that the game is long enough to make it worth there while and money.I have not played online yet so I can't tell you if it is good or not, from what I've read it is alot of fun. Oh yeah I didn't mention the weapon upgrades, there are plenty of awsome weapons witch can be upgraded with different components that you either find throughout the game or you get depending on some situation choices that you make during your game. So besides my one complaint about the game beng short, it is a really fun game and probably even better if you play with a friend.

Although, I haven't had this very long but, from what I've played is extremely satisfying this game rocks. I love the weaponry and cutscenes and dialogue already in this game. The storymode so far in this is interesting, that gives it great single and co-op play, the AGGRO system in here very sharp and pleasing, you should love faking surrenders and faking death in a hard place, the graphicss are good but not as good as MW2. This game does however bring back something I love which is BDA (bullet damage action) if you're using the right weapon and give someone a headshot you blow their head off, which really makes a shooter worthy of M ratings. I played all of the online multiplayer modes and they're all great, they strongly enforce teamwork which is what this type of game is all about. Oh yeah cannot forget about the weapon and mask and armor customization I designed my mask and armor and they're just what I expected them to be you should be pleased too. Now for my ratings STORYMODE 5stars, GAMEPLAY 5stars, GRAPHICS 4STARS, MULTIPLAYER 3stars and CO-OP 5stars. This one kick-ass game you won't regret. ARMY OF TWO: THE 40th DAY 5stars

Best Deals for Army of Two: The 40th Day - Playstation 3

Never played the original so this was a new experience for me and won't be able to comment on comparisons to the first one. AoT: 40th Day is 3rd person shooter specifically designed for co-op play, online or split-screen. The premise of the game is to traverse through Shanghai killing bad guys while making moral decisions along the way that will affect the outcome of the game and the relationship with your partner. The game focuses on drastic customization of your weapons (e.g., adding a AK-47 barrel to an M4, or a screw driver bayonet to the end of your shotgun) and the ability to draw fire from the enemy in order to get your partner to tacticlly flank them. There some other features like feigning your death, mock surrenders and syncronized sniper shots.

Overall the game is okay, but it seems the bad leveled out the good. The game does NOT save after you customize a weapon only after checkpoints; if you waste 4-5 minutes toying with your weapons and die...you have to do it over again. Speaking of dying (which will happen a lot), if you die in a fight that required a cut scene you have to watch the cut scene everytime you restart CANNOT BE SKIPPED. Pretty annoying. The bosses are cliched; armored gatling gunner...flame thower guy with weak point in the back. The customization is cool, but some of the stuff is so ridiculous it seems pointless they added it: bubbled camoflauge? soda can silencer? Depsite the stats of some weapons, they basically seemed the same to me. Lastly, this is the only game for the PS3 that ever frozen.

As mentioned this game is decent, but there are way too many other games out there like MW2 and Uncharted 2 that just seem to make this game feel like a waste of time. Will not be conducting a second playthrough.

Pros:

Extremely detailed; added a cool scope to your AK?...it's in the cutscenes.

Nice cut scenes on outcome of moral decisions moments.

Some nice weapon customizations.

Fun co-op, takes some tactical decisions to be made as opposed to rushing a situation.

Cons:

No auto-save feature after weapon customization. Annoying.

Cannot skip cut-scenes. Even more annoying, especially if your stuck on a boss.

Some dumb weapon customizations; who wants a flowered painted RPG?

Weak focus on melee combat.

May freeze on you; could be faulty copy though.

Only 3 pistols? WTF.

Honest reviews on Army of Two: The 40th Day - Playstation 3

I was one of the few who enjoyed the first one. I really loved the co-op play. The second one is much improved. The basic game play is the same but the AI is really improved. Playing with a friend online is great and playing with the AI is still pretty good. The storyline is a lot of fun, although fairly short. There are 7 levels and each one only takes about 30 minutes. I played the online multi player a bit but was not a big fan. It just cannot compete with good multi players like Modern Warfare 2 so I quickly lost interest.

Overall, a good game and a lot of fun to play. Also, it has fairly easy trophies if you are into trophies.

The first Army of two (Ao2) game concluded with our heroes Elliot Salem and Tyson Rios deciding to form their own private military company together known as Trans World Operations (T.W.O.). The sequel takes place a couple of years after this. While on a routine mission in Shanghai, China Rios and Salem find themselves trapped in a city underseige. Their initial reaction is to locate their mission coordinator Alice Murray and to leave the city; however things aren't quite so simple. They'll have to use their wits, skills, and teamwork to fight for every inch of ground in this city. Along the way they'll have to make life or death decisions that'll test the strength of their bond.

The sequel makes many improvements over the original game while still managing to maintain the best parts of the previous game. This time around if you're playing in solo campaign mode your AI partner is much more intelligent. If you're wounded your partner will not drag you right in to the enemies' line fire so that you can both die. Also it doesn't matter what part of the game you're in you can command your partner to take the lead versus the original game where even if you wanted them to go first at certain points they wouldn't.

Other improvements to the game play include the use of the shield. Instead of always sharing a shield now both people can take a shield and split up to take on the enemy. Both characters' can also sprint at any time, which is really useful in some areas. Now you can customize your weapons at any point during the game when you're not in battle instead of going shopping before and at the end of missions like in the first game. There are now new options in how you engage the enemies. You don't have to kill them all the time, you can tie them up, or you or your partner can do a mock surrender while the other person takes the enemies out. When you're wounded instead of lying out in the open waiting to be shot now you can drag yourself someplace safe until your partner arrives to heal you. The environment is now destructible which presents a new level of fun. Also depending on the type of gun you use you can blow enemies' heads clean off *weg*. Another noteworthy improvement for the sequel is the visuals. Shanghai is stunning to behold especially the zoo level. Once you beat the game you can unlock different outfits for both Rios and Salem including the original Ao2 gear.

Great things from the 1st game that have returned include the aggro meter. The aggro meter is a gauge that indicates which player is the focus of the enemy's attention. Whichever player has the highest Aggro rating will attract all the enemies towards them. This allows the other player to become virtually invisible and thus sneak up to enemy positions. You can still go back to back at certain points, engage in blind fire, perform step jumps, do the fake death, and the emote factor has returned. The sequel features some new emotes both positive and negative that I'm sure anyone can appreciate.

This is way more fun than I figured it would be. I got my son Just Dance Kids for the Xbox 360 a year or two ago and he enjoys that, but he's seven now and since we got the new Xbox this is one of the games we decided to get. It is actually very nicely done.

I have been playing it a little on my own, but it is really fun to play with my son. You can play with up to six people at a time, which is amazing. The most we've done so far is three, and it works perfectly with that.

Wish there was a little better mix of music. Music categories I'd like to see included are: techno/house, folk rock, some 90s alt rock, and would absolutely love it if they released some songs from musicals.

It's pretty good exercise, too. I've worked up a sweat more than once, and there's a workout mode where you can just dance to whatever song you want for a set or infinite amount of time.

I definitely think it's worth a buy.

My husband and I are both 30 and we are big kids. Since the new XBox One came out a couple days ago, we've spent at least an hour, more like two playing this each night. I love the songs on this Just Dance, especially...the "Get Lucky" song and dance. It's really really smooth and easy to get into, like a real dance...not as much of a stiff choreographed feel, so you get a lot of "I'm just dancing like I'm a boss" feel from it, haha. Also, it's got "Blurred Line" and one of my other favorites to dance to on this one was "Wake me up" which we had to pay an extra $2.99 for. Anyway, I love Just Dance games, this was is a fresh addition. My husband thinks that the Xbox is funky with sensing who is playing and keeping it straight. Sometimes it would switch me back and forth between 2 characters and mess my points up and he'd win...that's not good. Enjoy! ;)

For the price.. I'd expect more songs. Also, I'm into techno and house music and it's all pop songs. The technology aspect is cool though as it recognizes your face and body and plays back the song. But, the playback is off as well and not that entertaining to watch.

Review of Sonic Generations Casino Night DLC

Sonic Generations Casino Night DLC
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars
Buy Now
Don't be fooled; this isn't really a brand new stage for Sonic Generations at all. Rather, it's a pinball minigame that console players got by pre-ordering the game.

As a pinball game, it's decent enough. It's fun, and the core gameplay is very addictive, as the layout of the stage changes in response to your actions. However, the ball physics are sometime a little strange, and you may find yourself having to tilt just to get out of a place where you were stuck. Still, there is a little bit of variety in that you're not merely confined to the table; you can actually get launched into little mini-stages beyond the main play area.

But, this DLC sort of runs into a problem. Chances are that if you're the type of person who likes to play virtual pinball, you've already played much better pinball games than this, and there's really no reason for you to play. On the other hand, if you don't like pinball to begin with, there's nothing for you here. The DLC's status as a pre-order bonus is fairly evident once you see how little incentive there is to purchase this content after having beaten the game.

Unfortunately, there is no real objective in the game other than to go for a high score, and the minigame has absolutely zero impact on the rest of the game. There are no rewards to be earned from playing it, and there aren't even online leaderboards to my knowledge. You're literally paying for a completely isolated minigame that has no connection to any levels you may have enjoyed in Sonic Generations.

The DLC is cheap, but just know what you're getting. You're paying for a satisfactory minigame, and nothing more. If you're hoping for new platforming stages based on the classic Casino Nights zones, you'll have to keep waiting.

It is not clear, it is white.

Overall good, but I wish they said white. You can see barely see through it. It does keep the controller clean though. Obviously it does not cover the buttons, but you can clean those with rubbing alcohol or whatever.

Just changing it to four stars. I was looking at my review and the only thing I didn't like about it was how it was not clear. It doesn't really matter that much. So I added a star.

This ISN'T a clear skin. It is opaque and somewhat on the thick side compared to other skins -"sleeve" is an accurate description. If you are looking for a thicker skin, it would be awesome. I prefer a thinner skin most of the time, but did find it great for "deathmatch"-type scenarios where grip is everything.

Bought this sleeve in "clear" and "black" to replace some stick-on gel pads that finally unstuck themselves. Makes the controller more comfortable to hold and keeps things clean, without leaving any kind of stickiness behind.

Both colors are semi-transparent, the black (on a white controller) is a very dark grey due to the transparency. The "clear" is a milky color, certainly not solid white, and on a white controller is very nearly clear-looking. Might be an interesting effect on a colored controller. Slightly concerned about the pointy cut-outs around the button area, wonder if eventually they will curl, but otherwise excellent product.

World Series Baseball
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Year two of my franchise and I'm having trouble stopping. After playing all three baseball games for the X-Box (Triple Play, ASB, WSB) I can say without thinking, WSB beats them both. Triple Play is just plain bad. ASB is very good, almost as good as WSB, but it doesn't offer as many features. Now, back to WSB. Fans of the 2k series of any sport will instantly be familar with the layout of the menus of the game, simple to navigate. I have yet to find a real flaw in the gameplay. It's very easy to pick up and play, the batting, pitching, and fielding all goes very well. The graphics are excellent, the player faces are copies of their real life counterparts. The commentary lives up to the standard that the 2k series has set so far.

One of the games best features is it's franchise mode. For those of you that don't know, it really puts you in the game, you sign coaches, bump up the minor leaguers, sign free agents, and all very easily, not the same clumsy menus of NFL 2k2. I played two seasons as the White Sox, the first went pretty bad, but the second was half decent after I drafted some potential and made some trades. I also beefed up my pitching staff. It really makes you feel like you own the team.

Lastly, for those of you who are very picky on accurate rosters, you'll be pleased. The rosters are, from what I've seen, accurate within very recently.

Overall, this is the baseball game I'd recommend for anyone. If you have doubts, rent it first, but, you probably won't regret buying it.

This is basically a slightly enhanced version of World Series 2002 for the Sega Dreamcast. As such, if you liked WS2K2, you will like WS2K3. Others have focused on the many, many positives of the game (graphics, player animation, pitching control, franchise mode, etc) so I'm going to focus on the few aspects of the game that prevent it from being perfect:

A) I realize that the developers wanted the graphics & animation to be silky smooth, and they are, but that hi-res visual goodness comes at the expense of fielding accuracy. I'll echo the complaint that double-play grounders that should be automatic are far too often not. I'm sorry, but Kevin Young hasn't been seen beating out a DP ball ever. Same goes for outfielders after catching a fly ball. The CPU AI is tight and will run on you at a moment's notice, but the throws from the outfielders are very slow to react when they throw to a base, thus giving an unnecessary edge to baserunners. Both problems would be solved by ironing out the "molasses effect" that restricts fielding.

B) The commentary, while not often incorrect, is horribly bland. The play-by-play is strictly meat-&-potatoes stuff (name & position) and the color commentary is often too generalized and rote. Besides the opening of the game, and maybe during a relief appearance, the announce team will say nothing individualized about any of the players. And there is a glitch when it comes to CPU pinch-hitters: they are 100% always announced as pinch-runners by the color commentator (former SF Giant pitcher Mike Krukow). This might be being tough on the game, but a powerful next-gen console like the XBox deserves better than PS1-era play-by-play announcing. You'll be begging for NFL 2K2's cheesy announce crew by the time 9 innings are up.

C) Make sure you know what base you want to throw to as a fielder, because once you press the button, that's where the throw is going. I have botched a few plays at the plate because at the time I caught it, the runner wasn't tagging, but then he decides to go, but the fielder will throw to whatever base you initially chose. In other words, there is no button override function. This goes similarly for baserunning: if you are halfway down the 1st-base line and push the button to go to second base, then decide against it, make sure you return to 1st base because the game keeps that first button press in memory, but luckily the baserunning allows you to return fairly easily.

D) The graphics often fail to match up to the play being made. A runner attempting to steal might be called out merely because the throw was in time, though the tag was obviously (via replay) not applied at all. The fielders will occasionally pull a Matrix move and magically slide across the field on their feet to make a diving catch. Once again, it's not to much positioning deciding the catch, but general timing. Which again, might be harsh, but in a next-gen universe, these same old shoddy corner-cutting measures need to be cured, or we all might as well go back to MLB '99.

Even with the small gripes, WSB2K3 is still far and away the best choice for baseball on the XBox. And perhaps because the game is so strong in most areas, it leaves itself open to minor criticism in lesser areas. Sorta like pointing out a handful of weeds on an otherwise lush, green lawn. I can only imagine if Sega remedies these small issues, we might be as close to perfection as possible.

Best Deals for World Series Baseball (Xbox)

The much anticipated World Series BB2K3 is a phenomenal effort from Sega, and does not disappoint. The game delivers on all levels:

>> Superb graphics: This game is rich in texture and the graphics are deep. There are hundreds of never seen before action sequences, highlights, play-making shots, slow-mo, instant replay, batting stances, authentic pitching motions, etc., you name it, Sega's done it.

>> Realistic playability: On the "All-Star" mode, the game provides a solid challenge. There'll be close games, occasional blow-outs, hot streaks, cold streaks, etc., just like a season should be.

>> Miscellaneous: Other options include -Extensive franchise mode to test your managerial aptitude; Legend Mode where you can play with the likes of Cobb, Mays and DiMaggio; Create-a-Player mode (where you can choose gloves, shoes, sleeves, bat color, stance, power, speed, etc.); Season, Playoff, Quick Start modes; Home Run Derby ---basically, there's enough exciting options for hours and hours of competitive fun.

A must have for the baseball season ahead. A leap beyond WSBB2K and 2K1, and an eternity from half-inspired games such as All Star BB and Triple Play.

Now get to it.

Honest reviews on World Series Baseball (Xbox)

This game is great!

Pros:The graphics are excellent, the player animation is awesome and lifelike, the artificial intelligence is superior, the announcers (Mike Krukow & Ted Robinson) mix into the game well, the contol is customizable and easy to learn, the difficulty is adjustable, fielding is a breeze, and it's fun!

Cons: The announcing repeats a little too often, jumping for fly balls are not an option (although sliding is), there are hardly ever any walks, and there are no bench-clearing brawls(not expected, but would have been fun to see).

Definitely Recommended, Worth the Price

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for World Series Baseball (Xbox)

First off, the graphics in this game are UNBELIEVABLE. Birds fly through the outfield, the animations are awesome. Batters adjust their gloves and stance, fielders shift from foot to foot and kick up dust to dig their cleats in. This is by far the best looking baseball game I've ever played. The sound is also top notch. During a Yanks Red sox game in Boston a fan yelled "Jeter, if you retire you can spend every day with models!" simply amazing. The announcers are good, the sound effects are dead on, all and all a great presentation. As far as game play is concerned the game is great, fast and realistic. Everything is selectable, from turning the batters box on or off, three different pitch speeds, to making the pitching and umpires realistic or computery (ie make mistakes or not). The stat tracking isn't as robust as High Heat but they are serviceable, unless you really care about how many times your catcher threw out a base stealer, and what your pitchers WHIP was you won't bat an eyelash at the basic yet complete statistics WSB tracks. This is also made up for by the fact that this game has the best franchise mode EVER. I already have a season and a franchise saved on my Xbox HD, the franchise I only manage while the season I play all the games, both are fun, considering that there are some PC games which only offer management and are quite successful this is almost like having two games in one. My problems with the game are few: you can't warm up pitchers; no team/league creation other then fantasy draft (though if you really wanted to you could draft every team in the league to emulate your fantasy league, but this would take a LONG time and I wish there was a way to simply create custom teams or leagues); confusing menus which differ slightly from the other 2k games; and no season MVP/golden glove type awards.. The only reason I don't give this game five stars is because I think that Sega and VC and iron out some of these problems/omissions. All and all WSB is a great baseball game that plays at least as well as and looks a ton (A TON!) better then High Heat for PS2. In fact the only reasons one should ever buy High Heat are; if you're really really... really into stat tracking, or if you don't have an Xbox. WSB is by far the best baseball game on Xbox, and with its presentation and gameplay one of the best (along with High Heat and Saturn WSB) baseball games ever made.

That title sounds like hyperbole, but it's true from my perspective. I love sports video games and hockey most of all, and I thought NHL 09 was the best hockey game ever...until NHL 10 came around. I have probably played hundreds of hours of NHL 09 over the past year, and this game does an excellent job of taking everything that was good about that game and making it even better. I don't see myself getting sick of it anytime soon.

As a caveat, I do not play online. This is a review based on my single-player experience, which is my preferred way to play.

While the changes in NHL 10 are in large part subtle refinements of NHL 09, this isn't just a roster update. The "Be a GM" mode formerly franchise mode has been completely overhauled to give you GM-specific challenges and rewards as you play through the seasons. A few other new game modes single playoff and single season modes, basically have been added as well.

The main improvements in my opinion are found in the on-ice gameplay, which has been enriched by the ability to control the aim on passes, board play, the new fighting engine, scuffles after the whistle, better goalie animations, and better AI. The game experience is completely customizable and there are slider pre-sets for arcade-like, simulation-like, and intermediate gameplay (intermediate is the default).

Professional reviews will be able to tell you a lot more about this game than I will, so let me just say that everything you love about NHL 09 has only been improved. It's rare to see an EA Sports development team that really delivers and works hard year-after-year, and this team does exactly that. You can tell that there is a real passion and desire among the developers to make the best hockey game possible. They did it last year, and they did it again.

I have not encountered the AI problems that the other reviewer did in playing this game in single-player mode. Perhaps I am just used to the way the game plays, or perhaps that reviewer needs to explore the create a play option to get better performance from his AI teammates.

If you like hockey, buy this game. If you love sports games (and don't HATE hockey), buy this game. I've been let down by EA Sports many, many times in the past (most recently with Madden 10). This game is nothing short of triumphant.

nothing in this game has changed to much..only real different game play is fighting along the boards for the puck, (which you dont use to to much) and an actual fighting system which had many people scratching there heads in NHL 09 on how to fight. other then that gameplays seems about the same, i noticed shots from the point give more realistic chances for rebound goals then in 09.

another really great upgrade is the GM mode. wow...this almost gets complex. players have trade values, buyouts, teams have rumors of whos on the chopping block, you can put 3 players you want traded into the rumor mill, you can tell other teams what your looking for ex. offensive defense athelitic or draft picks.

its such an upgrade over last years, your general manager actually has a reputation,

anyway this is a good game, my review kinda rambled and went on longer then i wanted but if your a fan of the NHL EA series i would suggest buying this, no turn offs that i can see nothing drastic has changed. enjoy

NHL 10 is a fantastic game, and it's amazing to see how far hockey games have come over the years. The gameplay and controls take a bit of time to get used to, but once you do the NHL10 experience really is a lot of fun. The graphics are great, there are tons of teams to choose from, and the whole experience is a decent step forward from NHL 09.

One of the major gameplay upgrades I've noticed is that in NHL 09 interference penalties in front of your opponent's net were very common. Since 'check' and 'shoot' are both mapped to the right analog stick, if you were positioned in front of your opponent's goal trying to jam the puck in you would often end up getting an interference penalty for shoving a guy off the puck. This was VERY frustrating, but thankfully the problem is solved in NHL 10.

I play a decent amount of games online with one of my buddies, and it works great except for one situation. When we play in person, we like to play with the two of us against one CPU-controlled team. Unfortunately this isn't possible online. You can play against each other, or against another team of humans but there is no way to team up cooperatively against a CPU-controlled team. This is pretty much my biggest problem with an otherwise fantastic game.

Honest reviews on NHL 10 - Xbox 360

Let's start this review with this tip: If you ignore me and buy the game anyway, IMMEDIATELY turn off the in-game music. Thank me later.

Now, if you do have it and your game hasn't frozen by now just give it some time you've very likely noticed that some of the problems of NHL 09 still reside in NHL 10, and this iteration created a few of its own.

Offline Gameplay:

Essentially every game I play is like this: I drive the wing hard, look for someone to pass to heading to the net, don't find anyone, have to curl and pass it to the point. At the point, usually the other forwards are hanging out at the side of the net, on a smoke break and of no help when I blast a shot low for rebounds. Playing that way for a few games is as dull as reading this paragraph again. Go ahead, try it.

There's a double standard to this game. The defense AI (on superstar, anyway) is always covering my guys and it's not simple to get a pass through, whereas my defensive AI leaves people alone in front of the net. My offensive AI is rarely near the net, there AI is ALWAYS near the net (regardless of settings--the best I've found is to choose collapse).

The best setting I can come up with is crash the net and full attack, and even with this they are not as aggressive as the opponents AI.

Be A Pro Mode:

Be a Pro mode suffers from the same problem, although my impression is that your teammates were far more useful in that mode this year. In NHL 09, you had to dictate every pass and shot, otherwise you'd never get anything done in Be a Pro. However, based on more games played in this mode, it's darn near unplayable, except for as a goalie.

Let's Pause for A Second:

To reply to the user about create a play: I know all about it. And unfortunately it's a must. You have to go to these pre-assigned circles in order to get your team to do what they should do when you tell them to "crash the net." It's a problem to me when the opponent's AI does it automatically, and I have to sit around making plays and it's of little use on the rush, as your teammates are always 3-5 strides behind.

Further Gameplay Discussion:

Sometimes, for added frustration in the game, before even getting the zone, when I lead my passes as I'm heading to the blueline, my teammate AI just stops. They are letting me know they've got better things to do. Or they are afraid of the blue line?

Moving on to other problems, we have a faulty neutral zone AI. The computer will pass the puck for sometimes 1015 seconds back and forth through the neutral zone looking for a hole to open up. When they finally cross the blue line, they are apt to pass the puck indefinitely wing to D, D to wing, wing back to D, D back to wing, wing back to D unless you get out of position to attack. Once you do that, since your defense AI is lacking and likes to guard spaces instead of players, you'll get scored on with a wide open one-timer, because their forwards are always around the net. Must be nice.

Other problems, so far, include pucks sliding through my body and stick when I dive, nearly every poke check is a tripping penalty for me (solution to this is holding down the left trigger forces your player to face opposition better), and near perfect stick-lift abilities from the AI (Superstar-Normal mode).

What's "new?":

Talking about the new features: On the plus side, the board play adds a little to this game. Instead of either checking someone along the boards or sliding off, now you can pin someone for a few moments either in a fight for the puck or to keep them out of the play (don't hold on too long, or you'll get called for interference). There is a problem with this feature though, because even if you are past someone, they can still pin you to the boards. Most refer to that as a "magnet" effect, and it needs fixing (a perfect excuse for NHL 11!).

Also, on the good side, it's more enjoyable to play as a goalie, as you can now make a "spread eagle" move and a "windmill move" (stacked pads on one side, then you throw your legs in the air and stack pads on the other). Also, you don't automatically hug the posts anymore when you are pressed to either side, which was a nuisance to me last year.

So, What Should You Do?

For me, this is an online game only, as a forward, just as NHL 09 was. The EASHL (EA Sports Hockey League) is where you get to play with a character you create, along with up to 11 other people (each playing a position). So, all of the problems with the AI (not going to the net, passing in the neutral zone forever) are gone. Only to be replaced by people who really don't know where they are suppose to be if you don't join a good team -so join a good team!

My hope is that this update of NHL 09 has removed most of the cheats that were around in 09's online play (curve shot, wrap around, so on) without adding new ones of its own. Time will tell on that and I have my doubts, but what I can say immediately about online play is EA's desire to take every dollar you have will very soon turn me off as a customer. I paid for the game. Give me the whole game.

This season, EA has introduced special equipment "booster packs" you can buy for your Be a Pro player. These "booster packs" make your player better than the other people on line, by increasing your speed or other attributes. In other words, you are getting better not because you are improving (when you did well in NHL 09, you would get player cards that would let you increase your skills this is still in NHL 10) but because you paid to be better.

If You Only Have Time, Read This!:

For now, NHL 10 is fun for me only as an online game. But, as I fight against more people with these artificially better players, if this is the path EA wants to tread, I'm not sure how much longer I'll be playing.

So, should you buy NHL 10? If you are going to play this in a season mode on your own, offline, I'd say no. If you are going to play online, I say rent it, see how much fun you have, and go from there. If you don't get around to buying it, it's not as though there won't be an NHL 11 or an NHL 110 down the road. And since it looks like the NHL2K series is done for now (rumored to be no NHL2K11), it's either this or bust.

Our family really loves Mario Party 8, of course nothing compares to it. Mario is the bomb!!! But this game is really neat and plays much like Mario party 8 (at least we think so). It's alot like a board game. I will admit in the beginning I was a little confused, but once you give it a chance and play a few different boards and spend some time getting to know the game, you realize how much fun it really is. The confusing part for me was that when its your turn to go (you don't always see your man moving). It took some getting used to but the mini-board on the side of the screen shows your man moving when its not his turn to see him move. Also, your running and eating cookies (pac-dots as I call them) so, you never really know where your going to land since there is no distinct spaces on the ground like what you have in Mario party 8. This way, I think it keeps you interested and surprised. But its all good, the mini games are really neat and is a welcome change from playing the same mini games over and over in Mario Party 8. I am a pac-man fan!!! I have played pac-man when I was growing up, so it was nice to see the original pac-man game on here (like an extra bonus) along with dig dug and galaga. I would definately give this one a try. I pre-ordered it for the pre-order price, in the end I think it was around $40 something. I'm not sorry either. IF you could get it cheaper go for it!!! Also, about the wii controller, it works good with the game just as it does in Mario Party 8, but I would definately recommend a classic controller for the pac-man, galaga, and dig dug bonuses (it plays better with the classic controller). Have an open mind and remember to play it a few times before making a judgement. The first time we played, I played 5 times (different game boards). Some game boards are longer than others, so if you don't want to play a longgggggggggg game you can play a short board. I like that feature. HOpe all of this helps.

My 13 year old loves this game. We had the Mario Party 8 WII and she plays it all the time. I got her this WII game and she now plays this one all the time.

Would recommend.

I purchased this game (from my son) for my husband for Father's Day. We love it. The new game is a lot of fun play. You go to different places, try to get castles and collect cookies. If you land on a free spot free castle. If two players land on the same spot and no castle is there yet you get to pick a present to see who gets that castle. However, if you land on a space that has someone else's castle LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!!! The battles are pretty funny (shaving sheep, making pizza, shooting flying pumpkins). You collect the cookies as you go through the game. You get them just moving, when you land on your own castle you get a bonus, and when you defend your castle and win you get more cookies (from the other player(s). The object is to get all the cookies first and make it back to the Cookie Factory. My husband, son (who is 5 years old) and I love it. Now if playing this new way is not your thing no worries. The classic Pac-Man is on this disk to enjoy too. It also has the original arcade classics of Dig Dug and Galaza! Too much fun to miss!!!

Honest reviews on Pac-Man Party - Nintendo Wii

Just received this game for christmas and my wife and I have played it every night since. We have mario party 8 and this game is just a pac man version of it but I like the mini games more and the layout of the boards more. This game is more fun with people that aren't serious gamers b/c of the simplicity of the mini games but for a casual gamer just wanting to have fun I suggest you grab a few friends or family members and gather around to play Pac-Man Party.

If you're not a gamer, you'll probably like this. The graphics are cute but not high quality. The dialog leaves a bit to be desired and the sound effects and music are very repetitive.

It's a board-game style with lots of mini-games worked into it. Great for kids and fun for adults that are willing to try something different. Very simple rules = no confused frustrated googling for answers.

I haven't run into any bugs that actually affect game play, just a couple of lag spots but never during the minigames.

Overall a very fun game, maybe not $40 fun but close.

If there is one genre in which the Xbox 360 is starved of, it would be platforming games. De Blob 2 offers a fun, colorful, and cheery adventure similar to something you would see in a 3-D Mario game. Where most platforming games have you perform simple missions and quests, de Blob 2 integrates this formula with its genuine painting mechanics. Almost everything in the world can be painted with a wide variety of colors, from basic primary colors to more complex mixtures. As you paint and complete challenges, the world around you changes, from its music to the overall mood of the level. The game is designed so that both casual and hardcore gamers can enjoy the experience. Difficulties can be adjusted, optional challenges and collectibles can be sought after, and Pinky, Blob's companion, can enter the game at any time for 2 player blobbing. With 12 worlds, dozens of side scrolling levels, and cooperative/competitive multiplayer action, de Blob 2 is a must have for Xbox 360 owners.

What you won't find in De Blob 2: Firefights. Space monsters. Guns. Gangsters.

What you will find: hours of brightly-colored fun.

This game is the polar opposite of COD, Gears, Dead Space, GTA, and most anything else in the popular action genre. But that's a good thingit's a great change of pace from that side of the video game universe. It's a fun, surreal, dare I say... cute game that has kept my attention for hours.

The plot in a nutshellit picks up where De Blob 1 left off, and Comrade Black has moved on to this world, eliminating all color, causing a drab, gray, boring society of oppressed citizens. The hero (De Blob) has the ability to soak up paint into himself and lay it onto buildings and the land itself. Levels start as drab gray areas, but as you navigate them, painting your way through goals to complete the level, the music starts to come in. A couple notes trickle in at first, more color brings richer music, and by the time you've painted the whole area, it's a catchy, jazzy soundtrack that doesn't get repetitive or annoying. There's plenty of other power-ups as you go on, but this is the meat of the game, adding color to the world and bringing it back to life.

The only downside I've yet to find is that you can't save it on command, so if you start a level, be ready to finish the bulk of it (20-30 minutes) until you reach the point where you can upgrade Blob, or else you'll have to (and probably enjoy it all over again) start at the beginning. Controls are accurate, easy to get the hang of, and it's an easy game to play... maybe just a little too easy, but like I said, it's supposed to be fun. You aren't saving the Earth from space zombies, defending a military base or running from the mafia. The story is simple, more than a little predictable, but fun to follow. Except for a few images such as a Raydian (the residents of this world) being "baptized" into becoming a Blanc by being pushed into a pool of black ink that envelops him that a parent might have to explain, this would be a great game for young kids as well.

My gaming tastes usually run in the racing sim/sports genres, but since the first time I played De Blob 2, this game has held my attention and had me anxiously waiting to get out of work to go home and play more.

Best Deals for De Blob 2 - Xbox 360

De Blob 2 is a welcome breath of fresh air for 360 owners looking to play something bright and cheery in between their "serious" FPS, RPG or action game sessions. You control the titular Blob throughout the game, whose job it is to soak up paint into his spherical body and bring color back to Prisma City, after the nefarious dictator Comrade Black forced his monochromatic regime on the helpless people. Each of the twelve levels are quite large and open environments with numerous goals to accomplish. Additionally, interspersed here and there are more traditional side scrolling areas for you to explore, paint and hop on baddies. As you might expect, very little on the way will cause seasoned gamers undue stress, as the difficulty is set exceptionally low. Nonetheless, I had a blast exploring the stages at a relaxed pace, attempting to find all of the collectibles and complete side quests.

The presentation for the game is without a doubt charming, featuring a simple but colorful art style (once you actually begin coloring the stages), funny characters and a playful, catchy musical score that actually adapts to your gameplay actions on the fly (very, very cool if you pay attention). Additionally, before each stage is a high quality animated short, which not only moves the paper thin story forward, but adds a great deal of humor and contains visuals not far off from Pixar standards.

While I enjoyed almost all of my time with the game, there were a few minor annoying bits to be found. As is common with the 3-D platformer, I found the camera occasionally uncooperative. More frustrating was the difficulty in targeting a specific enemy or object, especially when the action got a bit crowded or the camera wasn't placed precisely where the game wanted it to be. Still, neither of these issues popped up on a regular basis, and most of the game felt polished and well designed.

So, whether you're an adult gamer looking for a slightly different experience on 360, or searching for a game which can be enjoyed by the entire family, I highly recommend de Blob 2.

De Blob 2 is a great creative game. The adventure mode is a bit childish and the narrator tells you what to do everything time that you need to do something, which gets old if you are an experienced gamer.

OUYA Console Review

OUYA Console
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
In my many years of buying tech products, I have never seen a product with so many poor product reviews online from people who obviously don't 'get it'. Anyone purchasing an Ouya because it is called a videogame 'console', and are expecting to see the same types of AAA games they see on an Xbox 360 or PS3 are going to be disappointed. I am convinced that the majority of people writing these reviews on some of these sites are simply not old enough to realize what makes the Ouya special, at least for me...

To me, the Ouya is a throwback to an earlier time in computers and video games. It reminds me the most of the Commodore 64 era, where not only could you buy a system just for playing games, but you could also, if you wanted, either by yourself or with a couple of people working together, create own game, let other people play it, and if you were good, sell it. There was a lot of terrible software produced during this era to be sure, but some of the most fun I have experienced playing video games was had in discovering those games which could be learned in a few minutes time, yet provided hours and hours of entertainment. Not only was there 'big name' titles for the time such as Mule, Archon, Toy Bizarre and Jumpman, but there were memorable titles such as Campaign Manager, Space Thief, Krylon Lander, and many more that were available on public domain software collections, or by typing in the code yourself out of a magazine.

This software discovery, and the potential for a hidden gem is where the Ouya excels. There are many good games on Ouya right now, and since anyone can potentially develop and publish games on this system, and new titles appear all the time, you never know when the next future classic like a Duke Nukem, Bomberman or Worms may appear. Sure, there is a lot of 'bad' titles, but so what? Everything can be tried for free, so there is nothing to lose, and in my opinion, exploring is half the fun...

If I had to pick something to score the Ouya down on, I do wish it would have shipped a little more up-to-date on its android hardware specifications, but realistically, with the simple 'pick up and play' type games this is targeting, the specifications should be fine for a while.

I had no issues with setting up my unit, installing firmware updates, or with my controller, as others have reported. I paired a PS3 controller to it very easily, and this is a great option vs. buying an expensive 2nd controller for multiplayer games, especially if you already have one around. An Xbox 360 controller works as well.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Ouya to anyone, just know what you are getting, and go into it with reasonable expectations. If you think you are buying a console to play the latest and greatest 'next-gen' games, then you should probably hold off, but if you are looking for an inexpensive way to play hundreds of simple, fun games, or even get into game development yourself, then you cannot go wrong with the Ouya!

I was an early backer on Kickstarter and received my unit a couple months back, so I've had plenty of time to play with the Ouya. Here is a list of the pros/cons:

******PROS*******

1) Local Multiplayer gaming is GREAT. Games like Towerfall, Bombsquad, Amazing Frog, etc. are perfect games to showcase the true strength of the console: couch gaming with friends. My friend brought his Ouya to a LAN party a month back and we had a blast with Bombsquad. A lot of people were crowding around and claiming the next round to play. There are plenty of games like this on the console so it's hard to get bored.

2) The UI has slowly but surely been improving. Recently they added a "Recently Played" box and "Discover" boxes on the main menu. Additionally, the UI is snappier and more responsive than first release. Pairing controllers is easier with these updates as well. Updates are relatively small installs, so it generally takes 5-10 minutes at most.

3) The ability to easily sideload apps is great. You can download Airdroid and access it that way. It's not a fully unlocked Android box, but it will do most of what 99% of the population will most likely want without rooting.

4) The controller feels nice and hefty. It also gets great battery life from my experience. Make sure to buy at least one extra so you can take advantage of my first pro.

5) The unit itself is small, and relatively quiet (actually, silent the majority of the time, slightly less so when the fan kicks in intermittently). It's very stylish, actually, though I wish the button on top was a little more hearty and not just a "click" pushbutton. That's just minor nitpicking, though.

6) Every game has a free component for you try, most of which are extensive. If you decide to drop money on the games that aren't entirely free, buying games is relatively easy. Link your credit card and buy in-game without exiting. Very similar to the way that some of the apps work on the Apple Store. Either way, there are a number of free games out there so you don't really have to drop a dime if you don't want to.

7) There are plenty of emulators and they run most games flawlessly. SNES, NES, Genesis, Game Boy, PSX, N64. Don't expect blistering speeds on the last two, but it's serviceable, especially since we're only talking about a Tegra 3.

*******Cons*******

1) This definitely isn't entirely ready for primetime. While the UI is improved, it still has a long way to go. There's no social aspect to speak of at this point (besides you account name in the upper left-hand corner), so non-existent online multiplayer except where games have their own dedicated servers. There's no messaging, invites, or anything. A relatively minor quibble, though, as its main strength of local multiplayer is enough to sate my coop gaming for now.

2) Wi-Fi Connectivity is a bust. It's well-documented all over the Ouya forums and on Reddit that the Wi-Fi antenna is poor at best. I personally experienced connectivity issues in locations where other devices had solid connections. I even purchased a network extender, hoping to fix it, and it still made little difference. For people that might not have access to a wired connection, this is a catastrophic oversight. I'm hoping this is fixed in the next hardware refresh.

3) The controller is hefty, and the buttons and joysticks feel fine, but the triggers are a nightmare. For me, they're too far back on the controller. The top triggers feel too "clicky" and you have to hit them at a particular location to register (can't hit them too far on the right or left). As for the back triggers, they're too mushy and feel awkward in the fully-depressed position.

4) The "Discover" section (Ouya's version of a store) is a little convoluted. They try their hardest by splitting into genres and subcategories (for instance, "Couch Co-op" is one category), but I think it still makes it difficult to navigate and find games. As for the "Trending" category, I have no idea where they get these analytics from, but some of the games on there appear to have no "Thumbs Up" ratings, which begs the question of why they're there.

5) Arbitrary rating system in "Discover". Their rating system is entirely based on thumbs up. Either you like it or you didn't click like. There is no text-based review system and nothing to provide negative ratings. For games that might not have broad appeal or be well-known, it's easy to pass them over because they might have 20 "Thumbs Up". For shovelware, they appear to get same ranking as GOOD games. This needs to be fixed if the cream is going to rise to the top.

6) Support is a joke. If you have problems, don't look forward to receiving a quick resolution. There are several reports of people waiting 3 weeks+ on tickets without response, after which tickets are just closed without resolution. Ouya REALLY needs to step up the support game.

So, there you have it. Is it a nice little local multiplayer box and emulator? Absolutely. Is it the revolution they billed it as? Absolutely not. Wait until the next hardware refresh and for a few more system updates.

Best Deals for OUYA Console

I also own a g-box midnight mx2. I thought the Ouya would be an upgrade to the mx2. Big mistake! The Ouya doesn't know whether its a gaming unit or a media center. It ends up doing both functions poorly.

The biggest issue is the controller. It may be okay for games but it is a nightmare for media. I have a Logitech k400 that I use for my mx2 so I hooked that up and it helped immensely. However I had to switch back to the Ouya controller for some functions.

Setup for the Ouya was so frustrating I wanted to put it back in the box and into the garbage. There was no page in setup that had browsers to choose from as shown on the Ouya forum site. When I should have been on the browser page I was actually on the developer page. I had to mess with an address bar on that page to download anything for the Ouya. To get to downloads I had to go back several steps and still had trouble finding anything. Ouya seems to take great pleasure in having everything you need scattered about the system.

This thing was obviously rushed to market with a terribly mishmashed UI. It should have come with a separate well designed and thought out remote and not a game controller for a remote.

After two days I realized that I would never use this thing. I unplugged it and went back to my mx2. The whole media experience is a joy on the mx2. The Ouya is a failure in its current state of development. If the developers insist on using the controller as a remote the Ouya will go the way of disco. You have been warned!

Honest reviews on OUYA Console

Ouya must have paid XBMC to be recommended because this was the WORST decision ever! The MX2 trumps this device on all grounds. At least as a media center, but it also holds up pretty darn good to the ouya when it comes to Android gaming too. I was a kickstarter backer but even a friend's ouya they just bought a week ago has the same identical issues mine has. This is a fast box with tons of potential but the hardware and software issues of this thing kills it.

First of all the Ouya stutters in XBMC terribly with some common high bitrate video formats regardless of the latest fiwmare updates and XBMC with libstagefright. After about a minute of playing a simple 720P MKV file the video starts to chop up and lose frames. The CPU is also running under a lot of load, meaning at least some of the video processing is being handled by the CPU and not the GPU like it should be. I'm not the only one, it's all over the forums. Some people seem to get it working good for them but I question if their media collection is quite as demanding as my own. Standard definition content is no problem for this box but nobody is going to take this thing serious for a real HTPC replacement if it can't play high bitrate 1080p video without artifacts and playback issues such as stuttering and sync, both of which I constantly run into. And please don't tell me to upgrade. I'm already running the latest firmware and XBMC made specifically for this that was deemed to be the best. Well, it maybe the best for Ouya but it just won't work for me and surely won't be good enough for other hardcore home theater enthusiasts either.

The wifi in this box is terrible. The ouya shows signal but transfer rates are almost non-existent unless I move it closer to the router. The MX2 I have sitting right next to the Ouya is streaming HD content just fine. This is only one room away from the router. If the Ouya is in the same room as the router it works fine but this is completely unacceptable. The only solution I could come up with was a wireless to ethernet bridge which I just happened to have one. A dirty hack but solved that problem.

The support for this thing is non-existent. You would expect a company that raised millions on kickstarter to at least have SOME support. There's nobody to call and after two weeks after submitting a ticket I finally got this response: "We're continuing to solve for every last question and issue sent to us. In order to keep our Problem Solvers focused on answering OUYA's tickets as quickly as possible, we're going to close out your ticket and hope that your issue has since been solved." Really?? This didn't even ATTEMPT to answer my question. I waited two weeks for this response, mind you. So if you want any kind of support you're going to have to go to the forums and pray that another user is kind enough to help you with an answer. Whenever I ever had any issues with my MX2 I call Matricom and always get a real person to talk to. That's really not too much to ask for is it?

Now for gaming, the one thing the Ouya was actually intended for. This thing plays Android games, folks. Almost all the same games play on any other Android box I have and I can't even tell the difference in gaming quality comparing it to the MX2. All the games I like including all the emulators that work on the Ouya play just as good on my MX2. Keeping in mind that the Ouya is a quad core device I would expect it to really shine and out-do in this arena, but its nothing very special at all. Maybe in the future as Android gaming development gets more hardcore the Ouya will pull away from the MX2 in performance but for now there's only a marginal difference in performance, if that.

Another strike is the lack of Play Store. I realize this was never an intended feature, but c'mon. It's an Android device sandboxed into their own "app store", which coincidentally only scratches the surface of the stuff that you can actually use a device like this for. They claim this to be a hackable system. I don't see how they promote any hack-ability considering its locked down tigher than Fort Knox.

I'm not even going to get into details on how hideous the controller is. Even as bad as this controller is its better than the mx2 remote control which is practically useless.

Now for the pros: The packaging the Ouya came in was very sexy. I loved the red greeting on top of the device and the custom moulded plastic tray that holds it all together. Far better packaging than the MX2 in my opinion.

This device was obviously rushed to market due to their time crunch to fulfill their promises, which was already delayed. This thing was a failure from the start and will eventually die off as a fad. It's unfortunate and I had huge hopes to see this thing lead a new era in gaming but unfortunately this will not be the device that paves the way. If anything, it has made a big gash in the whole retro gaming industry with a wound that will probably take ages to heal.

I have hopes that this device will be improved with software updates, but to be honest I think there's some serious hardware issues inside of this box that prevents it just from working properly such as wifi and bluetooth issues. Overall this has been a very unimpressive device, especially considering the months of anticipation from waiting for this to finally be released. If you're looking for a retro gaming machine only, have a ps3 controller laying around to replace the one that comes with it and have the router in the same room as the device then this might be for you. If you're looking for a serious media center box this is not for you. I recommend the MX2 if you want the best XBMC experience you can get. This comes from tons of trial and error with virtually every android box on the market. Nothing I have used yet is better than the MX2 for XBMC, regardless of what XBMC themselves say, believe it or not.

Fingers crossed that the Ouya team can make some serious headway with this thing. I'd love to update this review with a high recommendation instead of more complaints.

I bought the OUYA console based solely on the recommendation by the folks at XBMChub. What a let down! Because the folks at XBMChub claimed it to be the best XBMC box I expected it to be leaps and bounds better than my G-Box Midnight MX2 but, boy, was I in for a surprise. First of all, there are no clear instructions on where the batteries go into the remote and how you are supposed to open the remote to insert the batteries. When I finally figured things out and set it up I quickly discovered that DTS and AC3 audio will not play and give a really annoying sound. To add to that, HDMI passthrough cannot be set. That forced me to do a search on the web and find out that this has been an issue with the OUYA console for over a year and has still not been corrected! How could the folks at XBMChub have missed this is beyond me?! Compared to this, my G-Box Midnight MX2 is great in spite of its quirks. I've read this issue being discussed as being an Android issue. Well, then how come my MX2 does not have the same problem??? Why does the problem correct itself when I unplug and replug the HDMI cable as some people had suggested? Clearly, this is a problem with the OUYA console. I must admit that I wrote OUYA support and they responded. They said that this is a licensing issue and that they are working on a fix. Although I appreciate that support actually responded to me (I read that many others didn't even get responses) what I don't appreciate, or comprehend, is that this has been going on for quite sometime and it has still not been resolved!

I haven't returned my OUYA yet because I don't know what to replace it with (I hear that the MX2 is now in short supply and they are having manufacturing issues) and I'm partially hoping that the folks at OUYA will fix this issue ASAP. I must say that other than the DTS and AC3 issue the console works just fine but if it is not fixed, it is a dealbreaker!
