Okay so, I really really enjoy music games. The first time I played this on an older HDTV it was okay. Not the best game ever, but overall I didn't mind it much.

However when I bought a new TV and thought I would buy the game because I found it for 5 bucks things went downhill. This new TV has a high refresh rate and it caused the game to kind of "skip". I don't really know how to describe it. But I do know that after a few songs I had gotten quite a headache, and was very sick to my stomach.

Another thing to point out is that, unlike Rock Band and the Newer Guitar Hero games, there are no vocals in this game. I only point this out because my friend bought this initially and was really excited to play. She brought it over and said "I'm singing!" and I said "on that?"

"yeah why? Do the vocals suck?"

"There are no vocals"

She said she wouldn't have bought it if she had known. So I thought it is a fair warning.

I mean for a few bucks it's worth a shot if you really really like music games or you just want an easy way to boost your gamer score, but if you have a HDTV with a fast refresh rate it's going to look strange. The straight down view didn't help much either.

This type of game is fun in general. The graphics are good and the songs are good. However, the 2D freat-board (rather than 3D like Rock Band and Guitar Hero) is hard to look at and hurts your eyes after a while. Song covers I'd rank 4 out of 5.

The best part of this game is the awesome sound tracks. The games different with the notes coming straight down and not coming at you from perspective, like GH. But for the low price, getting to hear and play all these songs is cool. Check out the songs, and if you're a fan, buy this game.

Its probably fun if you play the guitar, but dont get this if your a drummer kind of guy like me. The bass pedal comes down as an extra not instead of a line like it rockband. It throws u off so bad.

This isnt the norm, but I'm a minimalist and dont want a bunch of fake plastic instruments laying around; but I like the music game genre. Played through GH2, GH3, and GH Aerosmith using the standard xbox 360 controller. Sadly, neither RB1 or RB2 will work without instruments (only vocals). Rock Revolution will work a standard controller as guitar or drums. For guitars, the controls are different than the GH scheme (triggers and bumpers). Instead, you have to press one of the colored face buttons and then 'strum' with the D-pad. Its ok, but I prefer the GH scheme. For drums, you hit a colored face button to 'hit' the drum pad, and the left bumper for the kick pad. The GH scheme of triggers and bumpers would have worked better here too, since strumming isnt involved. So i'm glad that Rock Revolution at least works with the standard xbox 360 controllers, I just wish it used a different button scheme. There wasnt an option to change the button scheme. Now i'm hoping that GH World Tour continues to support standard controllers using their legacy button scheme.

I am playing this on my non-360 XBOX,and it looks gorgeous. I am anxious to see if all the hype about the 360 is true. I will have to wait because the prices are still too high for the initial offering.

However,360 or no 360,this game rocks. Yes the graphics are beautiful, and sometimes creepy;and yes,the soundtrack and ambient noises are perfect. But the game play is really sweet. No health-meters,no quick saves,no nothin' but you and the creatures who come after you, either loudly or very sneakily. And random ammo for a gun is not lying around all over the place,as in other games,so the only weapon you have is a spear. I finally learned to ration my bullets and my spears.(And you can't carry more than one gun and one spear at a time.) It's kind of creepy to be out of weaponry/ammo when you are facing a hungry creature or two. I just hate those sneaky, giant, nasty centipedes.I have gotten killed so many times by them,I'm embarrassed.

You play as a human,Jack, and once in a while you play as Kong himself, albeit too briefly. I love the frenzy-factor with Kong.

I'm sure for you young hard-core gamers, this game will be fairly easy, but for my middle-aged thumbs and hands, the pace is frenetic enough, thank you.Easy or not, a lot of thought went into the creation of this game, and since Peter Jackson was very much involved, I expected a class game, and I got one.

If you are not an experienced gamer(shooter), be patient. You may die a few times until you figure out just how to get from A to B without getting slaughtered by a T-Rex or two, but figuring it out for yourself is half the fun,as it is with any action/role-playing game,in my opinion.

Finally,I just heard on the news a couple of days ago that over-50 gamers are purchasing games at a steadily rising pace. I'm 57, a female and very much into FPS and RPG's. I consider this game to be among the best of the genre.I'm only half-way through and I am having a lot of fun. I'm addicted already,of course.

Read all of the available reviews of this game and others at the web's most popular game review sites before you get this or any other game. This is a lot of money, but I think the fun-quotient makes up for it.

Much of the community is undoubtedly prejudice to adaptations, whether that be game to movie, or in this case, movie to game. Although many would argue that most film to game adaptations are cash-ins with little to offer, King Kong, Michel Ancel's latest epic, is neither of these. Michel Ancel is well known for Rayman aswell as Beyond Good & Evil, so it comes as no shock that King Kong delivers. But nothing could have prepared me for this experience......

Director Carl Denham takes an American crew to uncharted territory called "Skull Island", a place crawling with dangers. The island is inhabited by all sorts of giant creatures and even savage inhabitants. Skull Island is where the crew docks and must explore in order to escape. Denham, Ann Darrow, Hayes, and Jack Driscoll, all play a large part in the movie and game. The story itself is quite good, it maintains interest and keeps you going to see the ending resolve. King Kong really blurs the lines between film and game, with countless cinematic moments that make you feel like you are there. Overall, Kong's premise is simple enough, but entails a tale of love, heartache, danger, and adventure. And it all comes together very nicely.

While the game is called King Kong, you will only use Kong for around 25% of the game. The bulk of the experience involves you and anywhere from one to three friends, these include Ann, Jimmy, Hayes, and Carl Denham. The opening scene has you sitting in a boat with a few men, one of whom being Carl Denham, Jack Black's character. After a short exchange of words, you row off onto Skull Island, where many nasty creatures and treacherous environments await. Throughout the game you will be making use of sniper rifles, pistols, machine guns, spears, and even bones from leftover dinosaur skeletons. Yes, there are dinosuars. A kind we had assumed completely extinct, exist in abundance on Skull island. Among those, you will face Venatosaurus, and V-Rex. Not to mention those ugly giant bat-like creatures, who will swarm you and take down your health quickly. There is no health bar, ammo counter, or anything else on-screen. This is in order to create a truly cinematic gameplay experience. You truly feel like you are there, struggling to find your friends and get off of this nightmare of an island. Without a health bar, you are left with only the examination of Jack's movement. This functions very simply: If he's okay, he will walk normally. But if he is seriously hurt, he will limp along. Without an ammo counter, you have only have Jack's dialogue(voiced by Adrian Brodey) to know where you're at. For example, if you need to reload, he will tell himself. And if you want to asess your remaining ammunition, just press the B button and Jack will tell you. Ammunition exists in perfect balance throughout Skull Island. The gunplay is surprisingly well done, aswell. And while there are only four weapons(Sniper Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, Machine Gun), all provide a satisfying combat experience.

But by far, the spears are the best weapons in the game. With a spear, you have a number of options. You can pierce enemies by throwing your spear at them, Poke/repel them, light them on fire and burn obstructing bushes with them, use them to light a friend's spear, and finally, use them to spear small larva with the objective of clearing a path covered by deadly spiders. This attracts them to the speared creature, which you have to throw near them so they'll take the bait. Before I figured out how to do that, I wasted my Shotgun and Machine Gun ammo trying to kill them. So watch out for that.

The gameplay is reasonably varied. You will shoot, spear, raft, run for your life, puzzle solve, and play as Kong. There is one section where you are fighting off the savages residing on Skull Island while escaping on a raft. This section requires you to light spears and throw them at the bushes on the hills, resulting in the destruction of the bridges they were throwing flaming spears from. This was a highlight. But even better was the short lived, but exhilarating cliff jump, where you and Ann must dive off of a cliff and into the river below. I was thinking, "are you crazy?!", but had no choice but to wing it. So I did! And once I hit the water, I went straight to the bottom and bobbed back up. You had to be there, it was something. The level design is excellent. Of course, it all looks the same and there really isn't any variation in locale outside of architecture, fittingly. But you'll always feel like you're on the edge of your seat at all times, because you really are! Whether you're fighting off Venatosaurous or crossing dangerous water or creaky planks, it's always a constant adrenaline rush.

Another definite highlight was the V-Rex encounter, where you are tasked with the difficult feat of distracting the dinosaur while Ann opens a large wooden door. You will rely on spears to get his attention away from Ann, and then to protect yourself, you'll have to hide behind stone structures, which you'll eventually run out of, as he knocks them down. No amount of shooting will help, V-Rex is completely invincible, only Kong can hurt them. Moments like this are nothing short of humbling, the sheer size of these things makes you feel like your in Jurassic Park. The way they shake the ground when they chase you, your blood is pumping, you're tempted to look back, but know that his mouth could be right there waiting for you. The sheer immersion of it all is just something only experienced in a select few action games.

The Kong sections have received mixed critical results within the community. But personally, I thought Kong controlled wonderfully. You just need to get a handle on how he interacts with his environment, aswell as working simple combos, which are essential to winning a fight. In order to kill your enemies, you will need to wear them down, and grab them with the B button, rapidly pressing B until Kong kills them. B is also used when pushing obstructions out of the way to clear a path. We've seen this done more recently in videogames, and while this proves fun, it is very strenuous to the hands. I found the combat relatively enjoyable, but the travel element is much more rewarding. Kong climbs and swings along, avoiding lava, and usually attempting to prevent the death of Ann. Kong can actually travel with Kong, you can pick her up and put her down with the B button. She will then defend herself with her environment, which brings me to the AI. The artificial intelligence in King Kong is astounding compared to most games of this type. 90% of the game is essentially an escort mission, but while this usually proves annoying, in Kong, your allies will defend themselves, hide when needed, and path find extremely well. I was actually surprised at how good it was. Which is a breath of fresh air. Overall, the gameplay in King Kong is certainly more than I bargained for, I was surprised at how enjoyable and varied it was.

Going into King Kong, I didn't quite know what to expect. I had seen some of the Kong sections in brief video form, but nothing had prepared me for just how rich and beautiful this game is. Considering the technical limitations of the Playstation 2, Ubi Soft covered up this fact with amazing art direction. Clearly the textures aren't normal mapped, and polygon counts aren't staggeringly high, but it didn't matter all that much because the art direction is so rich. For the most part King Kong looks fairly realistic, but the characters have a sort of animated way about them, sort of like Timesplitters, but a little more realistic. The texture detail on the character models isn't immense, but they animate so well that you have no choice but to be convinced. Every environment has something interesting to look at. After rowing ashore, I stood on high ground, looking out into the expanse, and the water is so beautiful, I couldn't believe it. Now Kong's water doesn't have any of the fancy technological prowess seen in games like Half Life 2 and Oblivion, but it makes up for this in style. The way the water actually moves is a lot more animated, less realistic. And it sort of plays to the Playstation 2's strengths, and I don't know, I think it's a better game because of it. Standing on a creaky rotting plank, looking out into the Island's expanse is extremely immersive, you really feel like you are on this Island, this nightmare of an Island, and that there may be no way out. There is always another obstacle, another trial, and all of this takes place in an extremely immersive and believable world.

The gun models are very well crafted, with the appropriate amount of polygonal and textural detail. The same goes for the spears, who can be lit aflame, resulting in a great fire effect prevalent throughout Skull Island. The effects are appropriately well done, considering the fact that there are many throughout the game. In one situation, burning bushes illuminate the darkness while you dodge flaming spears in an attempt to escape harm's way. It creates such a strong sense of environmental believability.

The dinosaur models are reasonably detailed, although up-close they are a tad behind the times. But then again, when facing a V-Rex you are either turned in the other direction, or at a reasonable distance. The sheer size of the V-Rex is quite impressive(about Kong's height), so considering this, the details are quite sufficient and realistic. The other dinosaurs look average for the most part, but in all honesty you will be too busy spearing them and running after your next goal to look at a few low resolution textures. I think that the msot visually amazing part of Kong was when Jack(your character) is crossing a patch of water, and these giant long necked dinosaurs begin to stomp their way through. I swear I sat there for ten minutes marveling at their beauty(texture detail is exceptional), they dwarfed both Kong and the V-Rex. And actually dodging their giant feat was a humbling experience. This is yet another example of the game's constant surprises.

The Kong model itself is modeled with exceptional detail, when zoomed out, Kong looks absolutely breathtaking, and you can truly appreciate his mass. Zooming inwards shows his flaws, however. The fur shading isn't the strongest you've ever seen, up-close it isn't very impressive. However, most of the time you will be zoomed out behind Kong, and this is where he is truly convincing. The animation is superb in King Kong, I couldn't believe how amazing it was. I would even go as far as to call it near flawless. Ubi Soft clearly spent an exhaustive amount of time on this aspect of the visuals, and it scores big points for that fact. You can even move Kong's head in different directions, up, down, left, right. When he jumps, swings, punches, grabs, it's all pulled off in a very realistic fashion. The only real complaint I have with Kong himself is that he sort of opens and closes his mouth rapidly. He never calms down in that sense. But that's really just a superficial complaint.

Another intelligent use of hardware is the draw distance. It is actually very short, but there is a lot of fog on Skull Island, and when it isn't foggy, it's dark. This clearly allowed for more environmental detail, and truly makes sense. The only real complaint I have with King Kong's visual facet is that, while playing Kong in some sections, the framerate is atrocious. I was actually surprised. But just as surprising is how it hardly affected gameplay, since all I was doing was climbing and swinging around without having to actually fight any enemies. In the end, Kong manages to strike a balance between console technology and smart art direction, and ultimately this pays off.

I couldn't possibly convey Kong's sound quality in text form, you just have to hear it. There is literally a detailed and realistic sound for everything! For instance, when you've been limping around for a long period of time, and finally slow down, Jack will actually huff and puff and sort of try and catch his breath. And it sounds so realistic, I'm telling you this game has some of the best voice acting ever seen! Done by the original cast aswell. Many times, events are triggered by NPC alert. For example, maybe after a brutal up close and personal battle with an enemy, Ann might say, "oh my God", or something similar. She acts so genuine, not as if she's reading off of a script, but actually as if she is really there! Jack Black really takes it though. Not only is he utterly hilarious, he's just animated in general. I mean when you're fighting off giant bugs, he's off somewhere with his camera shooting footage and saying things like "this island is amazing!", his mind is totally fixed on this film. Actually one of the funny parts was when we were wading through some deep water, and I happened to ask him if he was okay, and he's like "NO, my camera's getting wet!". I mean we're in such an intense situation, and all he can think about is this film, and redeeming his reputation regardless of who he puts in danger.

I almost want to call King Kong a survival horror, partly because when you hear a blood curdling sqawk or scream, you're on the edge of your seat, and sometimes even feel paralyzed in fear. Because you want to run, but you can't think straight. Next thing you know these horribly ugly giant bat-like creatures are attacking you, or there are savages screaming and throwing flaming spears at you. Sound truly does play a large part in videogames. I don't know about you, but over the last few years I've really come to appreciate good sound in my games. King Kong delivers in spades. The sound effects are top notch, the music is excellent, and the voice acting is superb. Speaking of the music, in fact. When you are badly wounded, the game will actually go into slow motion and the screen will beat red, and this dramatic violin will play over everything. Sometimes you think you're dead, but you're not, you are still being chased by a V-Rex who just hit you in the back with his head.

In the end, King Kong isn't terribly long, nor is it particularly short. Instead, it strikes a balance between the two and stays fresh for the time it lasts. It has absolutely everything going for it. Superb sound, visuals, story, and gameplay. King Kong proves that movie based videogames can be good when you put the appropriate amount of time and talent into the project. Peter Jackson and Michel Ancel really care about their craft, and I couldn't be more pleased with the way this game turned out. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a videogame. This is an example of how far we've come in every way.

Wow what a beautiful game. I am very impressed by the graphics on this one. But what about the gameplay. It is very unique. Most of the game you are a human running around in first person shooter mode. This is pretty cool. Sometimes you will have to look around in the environment to find things to use. An example would be finding a spearlike object to hurl at a t-rex. THis sounds like it would be tough, but it really isn't. While you cock the spear with one hand, your other hand points to where you will throw the spear. THis brings up a very unique aspect of the game. There is no health meter, no reticle for shooting, no ammo readout. NO nothing. You are IN the game just as a real person would be. This helps with the immersion in the game. But what about the Kong Levels? They are way fun and way short. they are probably only about %25 of the game. They are fun though. A little clumsy on the controls, but fun. All in all this is a good game. Not great, but pretty good. (...) Whatever the case, you will be pretty happy with your purchase.

Honest reviews on Peter Jackson's King Kong - Xbox

King Kong! A thought of a Giant Gorilla, a Ship with explorers..

King Kong plays as you set the ship abound for the island. You have machine guns, but you also use branches and hiding. King Kong has a replay value because, you play as the explorers and sometimes as King Kong Lot's to do in the game.

The moves are plenty cool and fun to pull off. finding where to go can be the best challenge. Visualy awesom as you are King Kong fighting a Tranasourus and then breaking it's jaw and you can pick up cars and flip them. Trees with moss, Skyscraper Buildings and people that bring you in to the time of 1933.

Sound is so mached up. This is one movie game thats worth your time. If you liked Predator Concrete Jungle XBOX game like I do, than King Kong is right up your alley.

My 10 year old really wanted a XBox 360 for Christmas to replace his old XBox. We have a Wii so instead I suggested we buy some more titles for the Xbox. I purchased this one in the group and my kids love this game. They played it all day when they opened it. They were yelling and screaming the whole time cause the graphics were just that good. They were 13, 10 and 7.

It's a monster cable for 20 bucks so I guess you would expect it work flawlessly; it does. Maybe the product has changed since it last got reviewed by the May 2006 reviewer, but mine came with the Toslink adapter. Not sure what to do with it though, didn't need it. The monster cable plugged right into the stock XBOX 360 adapter. The Toslink adapter that is included is probably required if you bought the other Monster XBOX 360 Component cable set. Not sure.

Anyway, if you want to plug a digital cable into the stock xbox 360 adapter and into a music system, this'll probably do the trick.

The price is great too. A regular 4' fibre optic cable is retailing for $30.

After I received this product I was a little surprised to see how this cable was packaged. The way that the cable is placed in its packaging caused a kink in the cable. This is a little bit of a concern for a fiber optic cable since light needs to travel on a straight path and any kinks in the cable can affect sound quality. Monster Cable should know this better than most and Im surprised their quality control hasnt caught or corrected the packaging faux paus (sp?). I was eventually able to straighten the cable after repeated attempts of bending the cable in the opposite direction. But this is not a good idea either as it may cause further problems for some people if theyre not careful enough. Anyway, after I straightened it out and plugged it in, it seemed to work fine. Overall, the quality of the cable is good, it was just irritating to see a kink in a fiber optic cable after unpackaging it.

Best Deals for Xbox 360 Monster GameLink Fiber Optic Cable

I bought the Monster component cable to replace the stock cable that came with the 360. The stock cable has a toslink out on the cable. The Monster brand has a proprietary connection instead of a toslink(1/8th mini jack). So if you want digital audio(and you do if you sprung for the Monster component cable), you are REQUIRED you to buy their optical cable in order to get the mini jack to toslink convertor.

Needless to say, that is low, and yet typical of the overrated/overpriced Monster brand. Since these are the only high end A/V cables for the 360, and do make a difference, it's worth it, but beware of this.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Monster GameLink Fiber Optic Cable

As the description says, a fiber optic cable is the only way to get the surround sound out of your 360. This is true not only for the games, but also for DVD playback. With this cable, my 360 has not only replaced my original XBox, but my DVD player as well. If you have a receiver that has a DTS decoder in it, you can play your DTS movies through the 360. I tested "The 5th Element" on the DTS track, and it sounded crystal clear, as did "Call of Duty 2." The cable is THX certified which ensures the best quality sound you can get on the market. If you want to use the speakers on your TV, fine. If you want the full 360 experience, get this cable and hook it up to your surround sound. You will not be sorry.

This is a required purchase if you bought the Monster Cable VGA cable or component cable for the 360 and you want digital audio. They have a custom jack on the side of their component or VGA cable that requires an adapter unlike the Microsoft ones that have a standard Toslink jack. Buying their optical cable is only way to buy the adapter. Fortunately the prices are reasonable and for the price of a standard cable you get the adapter jack for free. Basically its a way for them to make more money off of you because there really is not a necessity for this. Its rumored that the older adapter that comes with Toslink cable for the original Xbox also works with this jack.

Our family really loves Mario Party 8, of course nothing compares to it. Mario is the bomb!!! But this game is really neat and plays much like Mario party 8 (at least we think so). It's alot like a board game. I will admit in the beginning I was a little confused, but once you give it a chance and play a few different boards and spend some time getting to know the game, you realize how much fun it really is. The confusing part for me was that when its your turn to go (you don't always see your man moving). It took some getting used to but the mini-board on the side of the screen shows your man moving when its not his turn to see him move. Also, your running and eating cookies (pac-dots as I call them) so, you never really know where your going to land since there is no distinct spaces on the ground like what you have in Mario party 8. This way, I think it keeps you interested and surprised. But its all good, the mini games are really neat and is a welcome change from playing the same mini games over and over in Mario Party 8. I am a pac-man fan!!! I have played pac-man when I was growing up, so it was nice to see the original pac-man game on here (like an extra bonus) along with dig dug and galaga. I would definately give this one a try. I pre-ordered it for the pre-order price, in the end I think it was around $40 something. I'm not sorry either. IF you could get it cheaper go for it!!! Also, about the wii controller, it works good with the game just as it does in Mario Party 8, but I would definately recommend a classic controller for the pac-man, galaga, and dig dug bonuses (it plays better with the classic controller). Have an open mind and remember to play it a few times before making a judgement. The first time we played, I played 5 times (different game boards). Some game boards are longer than others, so if you don't want to play a longgggggggggg game you can play a short board. I like that feature. HOpe all of this helps.

Would recommend.

I purchased this game (from my son) for my husband for Father's Day. We love it. The new game is a lot of fun play. You go to different places, try to get castles and collect cookies. If you land on a free spot free castle. If two players land on the same spot and no castle is there yet you get to pick a present to see who gets that castle. However, if you land on a space that has someone else's castle LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!!! The battles are pretty funny (shaving sheep, making pizza, shooting flying pumpkins). You collect the cookies as you go through the game. You get them just moving, when you land on your own castle you get a bonus, and when you defend your castle and win you get more cookies (from the other player(s). The object is to get all the cookies first and make it back to the Cookie Factory. My husband, son (who is 5 years old) and I love it. Now if playing this new way is not your thing no worries. The classic Pac-Man is on this disk to enjoy too. It also has the original arcade classics of Dig Dug and Galaza! Too much fun to miss!!!

Honest reviews on Pac-Man Party - Nintendo Wii

Just received this game for christmas and my wife and I have played it every night since. We have mario party 8 and this game is just a pac man version of it but I like the mini games more and the layout of the boards more. This game is more fun with people that aren't serious gamers b/c of the simplicity of the mini games but for a casual gamer just wanting to have fun I suggest you grab a few friends or family members and gather around to play Pac-Man Party.

If you're not a gamer, you'll probably like this. The graphics are cute but not high quality. The dialog leaves a bit to be desired and the sound effects and music are very repetitive.

It's a board-game style with lots of mini-games worked into it. Great for kids and fun for adults that are willing to try something different. Very simple rules = no confused frustrated googling for answers.

I haven't run into any bugs that actually affect game play, just a couple of lag spots but never during the minigames.

Overall a very fun game, maybe not $40 fun but close.

This is the game that should have been instead of Enter the Matrix. It is so much fun playing as Neo on a Matrix game. I haven't finished yet; but for what I have played, I have been almost 100% satisfied with the game but like all games, this has a few flaws.

One of the good parts about the game is that the controls are excellent. Neo pulls off some awesomely fantastic moves. The graphics are points are great, but at other points not so great. I agree that they could have been better. The fun factor is great, it is fun. The game is long, I've been playing for a few hours and I'm still on the first movie. The game also follows the movie almost exactly; some parts can be changed if you choose to do things different that what was seen on the movie.

There are some down sides to this game. The camera angles sometimes moves to places where you can't see some of the things that are going on screen. When you die or skip the story, some of the noise is occasionally lost during some battles. The only other big problem I have seen with the game is what Jeffrey S. Stanley "Viper_29 said that when the guns are used and I lock on to opponents, when they die the lock automatically aims at the floor instead of the next bad guy and it can be at times frustrating.

Overall great game, fans of the Matrix will love it, but it does have flaws. I do recommend this game

First off, the only problem I have with this seller is that they never mentioned

that it was NOT BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE, but beyond that, everything was satisfactory on

the seller's part.

I played this game years back, and I ordered it after watching the trilogy recently.

I opened the game and put it in my 360 only to find that the game is NOT BACKWARDS

COMPATIBLE!!!

Nobody had made comments on the product concerning this issue. I would have never thought

about this previous to having this specific problem. I am horribly disappointed and now I

have a fun game that I will not be able to play at all :(

This is the game "Enter the Matrix" had wet dreams about. Fluid control, a deceptively deep combat system, and more jaw dropping fight scenes than you can shake a 9mm at. The gun combat could be a little more finely tuned, but it works. Though who would want to use a gun when you can run across a wall, jump off and spear someone to the floor, pick them up by their legs, swing them around in circles, and launch them at a group of their homies? Because you can do that.

Honest reviews on The Matrix: Path Of Neo - Xbox

Hey, what can i say? THIS game is much more like what the first game should've been.

This game is not linear as other reviewer(s) have suggested.

Yes, it follows a VERY familliar story-line for fans of the series. But, this program allows you to act out some of the BEST battles that NEO had to offer within the trilogy.

The way they meshed the movie bits with a new perspective was very nice. 600 DIFFERENT ATTACKS! I think that's incredible.

Some are so creative you'll find yourself attached to them more than others. But, there are so darn many you may never use all of them! New characters written in by the Wachowski's , come new environments, and the original voice actors. Better graphics than the first, better action. Easier to control characters.

The only complaint i have is that your friends AI is not all too smart. Once in a while they'll walk right in front of you while you're shooting and bite the big one. Or, stand too close when you detonate a bomb and (again) bite the big one.

Other than that, this was as great as i expected it to be.

I'm not even a die hard fan of the movie franchise.

I am, however, a fan of this game. A fun program whether you're a hardcore fan or not. But, it does help to know at least a little about the movie first.

Okay, I have seen quite a few reviews on this game and people either love it or hate it. There is no middle ground. I have to say that while I haven't finished the game, I can report on what I have seen so far.

In regards to the graphics, I think this game pulls it off fairly well. I haven't noticed much of any lagging in the frame rate department. Yes, the graphics could have been better, but as they are I have no significant complaints. They are better than Enter the Matrix (ETM). They are definitely of a newer generation quality on the Xbox. While the graphics of the characters look good, there is a lot of background that also factors in. When you fight someone and knock them into a wall or other structure, that structure will break and reflect the hit.

The fighting system is fairly good. They have made it fairly simple and I never considered it a button mashing style. You basically have a few buttons that you use in addition to using the left joystick. You will accumulate moves as you progress through the game and also increase your "focus" which allows you to do all the famous moves from the Matrix universe such as dodging bullets and such. The training missions were a little long but they do help you to get a grip on the combat system. I have had several moments where I fought multiple opponents and had two attack me at once. I was able to grab them both as they swung at me and grabbed one hand and then the hand of the other and was able to defeat them while holding them together at the same time. It was one of the coolest moves I have ever seen in a game and it was silky smooth while it happened. You can move the camera angle during the fights and when you perform a special move the time will slow down and you can swing the camera to view it at any angle. Nice touch.

The shooting portion of the game is the one letdown here. You have to click the right joystick to draw the weapons and then you have to use the right joystick to switch from target to target by moving it left or right. The bad thing here is that you will continue to shoot a person even after they are dead. This makes you waste too much ammo. I had to switch back and forth from having my weapons drawn to switch to another target. Another annoying thing was that the camera lock would lock in a position even after the body of the person was gone. Again I had to click the right joystick and reclick it again to move on. The jump moves are nice when you engage the focus and you can pick people off from in the air.

There was a new ending rewritten for this game that is different from the movie. I haven't seen it yet but if I had I wouldn't post it to spoil it for any others playing the game. All in all it is a entertaining game that is worlds better than ETM. One thing when I popped it in the Xbox last night while playing it I definitely wanted to pop in my Matrix DVD to watch it again. This is definitely a renter for everyone. If you are a Matrix fan, you will most likely enjoy this game quite a bit. I could see a bit of influence from the Mortal Kombat games in the training sequence. When you play it you will probably see it as well. My local EB was able to hold a copy for me but they completely sold out of all the copies they had. They told me they were following the sales performance of this game but they suspected that it would be a sleeper hit. If sales of ETM are any signal, then this game will probably sell well into the millions. Give it a try. Chances are you will enjoy it enough to say "that wasn't a bad game at all". Enjoy.

Easy to setup and works like a charm. I now have my controllers in their own place. No more lying around on chairs, floors or couches. NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honest reviews on Konnet Xbox 360 / Slim Power Pyramid RCS series Charger, Charging

This is probably the coolest looking way to not only store your controllers but also charge them. The unit itself is very modern looking and well made. It has 4 charging lights that turn from red to blue to let you know when an individual controller is done charging. It also has a light at the peak that stays constantly on letting you know the unit has power. The lights are very bright and stay on constantly, much more so than an LED you might find on a TV receiver, so be warned it will draw attention to itself.

Worth the money, I loved it so much I bought once for my PS3 controllers too.

Kinectimals is structured and directed more to a younger audience. My 5 year old daughter is addicted! The game is however quite inviting to the older generation, especially when I see how much my kid was enjoying her new pet!

Kinectimals isn't too advance in the form of a Sims game, but you do get to teach your pet several tricks (i believe there is like 10). You teach your pet to do tricks by performing them yourself, and after he/she has learned the trick you can either perform the trick so your kinectimals will mimic you or you can just give voice commands. Also, you have to show your pet love--to do this you will take care of it by petting it, congratulating it, brushing it, playing fetch or with other toys, buying accessories for it, and more! All these actions help build up a type of discovery meter, the more you do with your pet the more the discovery meter builds up and in turn the more of the map/island you discover. The more you discover, the more you unlock!

There isn't much of an actual storyline, except for the introduction you get on how everything came about and how the previous pet owner (some pirate/captain) left many years ago. Overall, your main objective is to eventually discover the whole island and defeat mini games on the way. You can also, use a magnifying glass to scope out your surroundings in the meantime to look for buried hidden treasures.

The mini games are creative and fun but a little bit repetitive. They utilize the same games but dress them up differently so they appear different. "Bumble" the guide of the game, a half bee/half mouse looking animal, flies around talking and sometimes I found to be quite annoying. There is a marketplace within furr town which you can purchase items from all the discovery points you receive. The items sold there can be used to decorate the interior of your home, accessorize your pet, etc etc etc.

My daughter and I are still discovering the island and the game for now, but I will post more as more comes. I believe this is a great game and great buy if you have a child in the age range of 5 15. But, if you are just an adult looking for a Kinect game for yourself, you will find yourself bored with the title quicker then a child would be. I only played a few times, and don't care to play to much more except for letting my daughter play.

*For people who are wondering if you can buy the plush animals and use them over multiple gamertags--well you can! The scan card on the plush animal isn't unique in any way and can be scanned multiple times to any gamertag.

**For people who have pre-order bonus codes for exclusive animals (i.e. the gamestop exclusive red-n-black tiger), after redeeming the code and downloading the content, the game will not let you choose the red-n-black tiger from the start. You must pick any animal, and after you leave the bonding circle to head towards your home...a pop up message will show up in the top left corner of your screen alerting you of a new friend in furr town. That will be your red-n-black tiger.

***For achievement hunters, the achievements on this game are extremely easy to get because this game wasn't made very challenging at all.

I was astounded when Gametrailers gave this game an 8.5 rating and immediately had to pick it up for myself and my son. He is in love with this game and cannot stop talking about his pet Bengal tiger cub in which he affectionately named Patrick. Yes, he watches too much Spongebob.

The visuals are breath-taking; I didn't expect the game to look this polished as a launch title. The gameplay is fun; you go around learning and teaching your pet new tricks while playing mini-games and unlocking new sections of your island. It has some mystery involved, but nothing too advanced that my son can't handle.

I highly recommend this game to ANYONE with children, it's a must have.

Most video games seem to be made for older kids, but not Kinectimals. My daughter and her friends absolutely love playing this game. In fact I have to ration their playing time because they could play for hours if I let them. The interaction is great and the interface is easy to learn, even for little kids. Definitely glad I decided to purchase this game what surprised me is that I also found it fun to play with my daughter.

Honest reviews on Kinectimals

OkayI am a 29 year old male, and I have no childrenyet I still played through this game. Why?because out of the many Kinect games I had the opportunity to try (I work in the game industry, and have the chance to play a lot of games), this stood out as something creative and appealing in a new way. Sure, virtual pet games are nothing new, but in the case of Kinectimals, the body motion driven interaction really adds something to the concept. Also, the execution and presentation of this game are very nice. I was honestly just refreshed to see a game that was clearly designed for kids, but wasn't rushed or lazy feeling. Oftentimes, games for children tend to be pretty... meh... like, the reasoning is that kids won't know any better; they won't realize that the graphics are mediocre or that the design is bad. But here, you have something that was approached with far more care, and even adults will enjoy it.

The game structure is very simple, and quite forgiving if you only want to 'finish' the story; the only real challenge lies in obtaining a few of the gold medals in the various contests.

Overall, this is a great game for families and kids. It is engaging, entertaining, appealing to look at and listen to, and manages to be fun yet non-violent/aggressive (which is pretty hard to do in game design).

If the idea of this looks good to you already, don't worrygo ahead and pick it up, it is very well done.

If you have a little boy or girl, you can't go wrong with this game. It's probably the best Kinect game next to Dance Central. The game is easy for anyone to jump into. My 7yo learned everything it had to offer in about an hours time. She has never been so addicted to a game before. It gets them off the couch, and is a very active game. Lots of kicking, rolling, running and jumping. Considering it's a launch game, I was very impressed how in depth and how much the player was able to do. Besides the kinect motions itself, what really impressed me was how great this game looks. It's obviously the best looking pet game in existence and kids will fall in love with these furry funny felines as soon as the game starts. It's a good mesh of taking care of your pet and setting off a big adventure with your pet on this tropical island. I myself find myself playing it a little bit and I was amazed how much I enjoyed it.

The only down side with the game is that the controls can be frustrating for little ones and patience is the key. The kicking of the ball and throwing balls and toys at targets can be challenging. But it takes some patience and adjusting to the controls to get it down. The game also has voice recognition for your pet and sometimes it doesn't seem to always respond to your orders or tricks when called out. But overall, it seemed pretty consistent.

This is a must have game if you have the Kinect, and if you have children, it's a no brainer. Just make sure your kids do their homework before they play this one, because they won't want to quit!

This controller faceplate was the first one I had seen or used. The good is that it looks nice and your hands quickly get used to the added bulk. The bad is that it adds some bulk to the controller that feels thicker than what it really is. we almost took it off right after trying it, because it felt like the buttons were too deeply recessed. One game later and we were basically used to the difference in feel. When snapping it into place it felt like it would just fall right back off with any use since the 'tabs' are very small. My son and I have used it for about two weeks and it has stayed attached. My son likes it because he had a favorite controller and now he can easily identify it.

I ordered this controller on the 8th of September. I received it on the 25th. If you are planning on buying this be prepared to wait because it is shipping in from China. First of all, the description says it comes with a detailed instructions manual. Didn't receive it. Had to ask a question on this page to figure out. When I first received it, it had several scratches on it. I'm assuming this is because the packaging is very thin and doesn't protect it very well. The first thing I realized when I picked it up was that it was not a Microsoft shell. The whole shell is made up of a cheap feeling material. This material is still pretty durable and I can see it surviving quite a few drops. It has stealth buttons and has a blue LEDs. You can look at my customer image. All of the modes work very well. Nine of them are adjustable for different games. This controller works in all of the COD series games. Overall I'm giving this a 4/5 because of the defects of the controller shell, and it didn't come with instructions. I would recommend this because of the overall low price for what you are getting.

Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience Racing Wheel for PS3 and PC
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

This is a great wheel for the ps3. I have burnout paradise, blur, split second, need for speed shift, and motorstorm. It works great with all of them. It has a feature to where you can map any of the buttons to different buttons. The gas pedal is automatically mapped to the R2 button as the brake button is automatically mapped to the L2 button by default. It has different sensitivity settings and a great feel as well as button placement. I also have the logitech gt wheel which is also a great wheel but I find myself using this wheel more. Mainly because it works on all racing games, the gt wheel only works with some games. It doesn't have force feedback which is the only real drawback I have to say about this wheel. I bought this wheel before I bought the gt wheel and I'm glad I did. I have never had any problems with this wheel so far, just make sure you plug it in before you turn on your ps3 with the wheel switched to the ps3 instead of pc. With that said I have plugged it in after I turned on my playstation in the middle of a game while paused and it still worked. Overall great wheel, very universal as far as compatablility with other games, and wheel and pedal unit just feels great while driving.

If you are dedicated fan of racing games, and specialize in driving in them exclusively, the Ferrari Experience Racing Wheel is the wrong product for you, and you probably know that already. For an average gamer like me, who occasionally dabbles in racing games, the hundreds of dollars needed to get some of that gear is an overkill. I still like to have better control than a standard dualshock gamepad, and amazingly, this racing wheel provides it for the about same price. The wheel itself is solidly built of sturdy plastic, and very well laid out with the paddle up/down shifters and all the action buttons. With the strong clamp, mounting this wheel sturdily should be no problem at all. You can however forget about playing it in your lap, the tension of the bugee mechanism makes that impossible. The wheel is a bit on the small side, and the bungee cord tension mechanism is stiff, but the steering control provided by it far surpasses the dualshock thumbsticks. The pedals are very sturdy as well, and provide a nice amount of control over the gas and braking. They do unfortunately tend to slide around a lot, and I ended up mounting them with velcro. Once I did that, they stayed put. I lucked out, and had an old wooden TV stand laying around that provided the perfect mounting setup for this product. If you don't have something like that, a visit to the local store to pick a cheap one is highly recommended. I also love the programmability that this wheel has. Due to this, it is a much better choice than the Ferrari Universal 5-in-1 Racing Wheel, also by Thrustmaster. That wheel is slightly cheaper, but does not allow you to change much, making it potentially less compatible with games. Spend the few extra bucks, and get this one instead.

I tried and made this wheel work in Burnout Paradise, Gran Turismo 5, and Need for Speed Shift. With the programmable buttons, and the fact that the wheel is detected as a standard PS3 controller, this should work with almost any game. The only thing this wheel can't be programmed to have is the horizontal axis of the right thumb stick, and most racing games (with the exception of Modnation Racers) don't use that axis for anything but camera control.

Best Deals for Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience Racing Wheel for PS3 and PC

The quality of this wheel is simply great. From the paddle shifters to the pedals to the wheel itself, it is hard to believe that they sell this thing for less than forty bucks. The pedals have great resistance and ample amount of travel. Anyone who has ever used a cheaply made wheel knows that if the pedals don't have much resistance or travel, then you can't control the car because you either have 100% throttle or 0% throttle 100% brake or 0% brake. Well, with this system, that is not a problem at all. You can easily ride around at half throttle or apply half brake. The extra resistance for these pedals does mean that you need some sort of mount or ballast to keep the base in place. If you want a cheap solution, do what I do and put a 10 pound weight on the base. There are also screw holes in the base so that you could easily attach to plywood or something else. The wheel also has ample resistance with the "bungie cord" system. You will need to mount this to a table or cockpit, but this is easy because the built-in clamp is very sturdy and works with tables of all kinds. Even the paddle shifters are high quality with ample resistance. I just can't say enough about this wheel. I want to save up for the Logitech G27, but for now I am very happy using this quality alternative at 1/10th the price. BTW, I use this wheel with Gran Turismo 5 for the PS3. It detects the wheel as a regular controller, but this is not a problem at all. Just remap the buttons correctly and you are off to the races... The diameter of the wheel is a little small for my taste, and the force feedback doesn't work with GT5, but those are very minor issues when you consider the price tag.

02-01-2011 Update

-----------------

Just rented "Dirt 2" for the PS3 and found out this wheel doesn't work at all with this game. I'm very disappointed. The wheel is still great for the price, but just wanted to warn people about this particular game.

Honest reviews on Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience Racing Wheel for PS3 and PC

I should start by saying that this was the first steering wheel I've purchased for my PS3. So I can't compare it to others.

I played "Dirt" and was right away disappointed by the large amount of steering I had to do for the small amount of turning the car in the game would do. So I immediately put it in the higher sensitivity mode. This was better, but still not great. For instance I would turn the wheel 1/2 of the range to the left, but the car would only very slightly turn. Not much more turning of the wheel would result in the car making the maximum turn. So basically the range wasn't consistent.

Then I threw on "Motorstorm". The performance was MUCH better. The range of steering was right in line with the steering range of the vehicle on the screen.

One note: I had to restart my PS3 in order for the peddles to be detected. For some reason when I plugged it into the PS3 after it was already booted it detected the steering wheel, but not the peddles.

So, bottom line, for the price it seems like a good deal!!

I have had this wheel for about 4 months now, no problems so far. While I don't actually play racing games all that often, the ones I do have work fantastically with the wheel/pedals. The two main games I play are Dirt 2 and Grid, these are both Codemasters games, and the great thing is under their control settings there is an actual preset for this wheel to make setting it up a whole lot easier. I'm assuming all future Codemasters releases will have this preset available as well. The only game I couldn't get to work was GTA IV, they finally enabled wheel support in a patch not too long ago but this isn't one of the wheels they made compatible. Overall construction, it does feel kinda flimsy but it is actually pretty tough...I've put it through a decent amount, it also kinda sounds like some people just get lucky when buying one, some people get very unlucky. Either way if you can't afford a $200 wheel/pedal combo like me but want something you are going to use occasionally then this is a good buy.

Edit Update 12/24/2012 Device is still working fine, I don't use it as much as I used to but nothing on it has broken yet. I have been using it to control vehicles in Planetside 2! (With Xpadder software)

After spending nearly eight hours on this game in a single day/night, I can definitely say that I'm helplessly hooked. I tried a little bit of everything and thus far my opinion of Monster Hunter Tri is extremely positive with only a few minor issues.

GRAPHICS: Wow. The first thought that shot through my mind was "this is beautiful!" Graphically the game feels a bit low-res on my 42" TV, but the art style and quality pretty much make up for that in spades. The environments are lush with details and beautiful colors. The details on weapons, armor, monster and dinosaur models are excellent and have definitely whetted my appetite for more. Human NPCs are kind of weird and awkward looking, but you'll quickly forget how bad they look when you see the monsters in action. The monsters are beautiful, varied, and a joy a to look at and watch. The animations on the many of the enemies are stunning, fluid, and you can't help but appreciate the effort put forth to bring these creatures to life.

GAMEPLAY: Both online and offline the game consists of hack-n-slash missions to go hunt gigantic monsters. There are some fetch quest missions as well, but most of the time the missions are very similar to what you would find in a game like World of Warcraft or other similar online offerings. The game has an exceptionally heavy emphasis on combat with minimal story getting in the way of the action. Combat can be either fast-paced or slow and deliberate depending on your personal style and choice of weapon. The combo system is limited but effective and each of the 7 weapon types has its own distinct style, advantages, and disadvantages. It may sound repetitive, but the driving force of the game is seeing what the next hunt will behold. Some of the boss battles, even early on, are simply breathtakingly awesome. When you kill a boss, even at the lower levels of the game, you will feel a sense of accomplishment.

Throughout the game you will level up your equipment, which is very important because your character actually doesn't level up. While your skill in combat is very important in this game, you won't get anywhere if you don't make sure you get the best armor and weapons available. Loot is king, and you will spend a lot of time hunting for the right components to craft the next big awesome weapon or armor upgrade. As you upgrade your weapons and armor you will see an amazing amount of customization in your character appearance, but more importantly you'll also see an amazing difference in your combat performance. When it comes down to it, this game is hard. Casual gamers will likely be turned off by the difficulty and depth of this game, but those looking for a deep and engaging action RPG experience need look no further.

DESIGN: Level designs are varied and gorgeous. I have only seen a handful of the sections of the game and can confidently say that the levls and maps are awesome. Environments are varied and in many cases the environments play a key role in your hunting strategy, influencing the weapons and equipment you choose to bring with you as well as your basic battlefield strategies. My only real complaint is that you will see a lot of load screens as you pass between zones. Luckily, these load screens are blessedly short (2 to 5 seconds usually) and don't ruin the gameplay experience, but the issue really does interfere with the immersion factor.

CONTROLS (when using Classic Controller): Controls are solid, as long as you use the classic controller. While more complicated than many games, the controls are responsive and the button layout is pretty good for the most part. Once you get past the slightly steep learning curve, the controls will become second nature. The swimming controls were actually better than I expected. My only major complaint about the controls I find it is too easy to accidentally use a potion or healing item because the same exact button is used to sheath your weapon. I drink a lot of potions on accident because of this issue, but on the plus side my characters are usually pretty healthy!

CONTROLS (when using a Wii Remote and Nunchuck): Oh. My. God. Who thought these controls were a good idea? Seriously, I don't think I have played a Wii game with more complicated and unusable controls than this. Different actions depend on whether or not the controller is twisted left or right, but you are still swinging the remote around, and button mappings are inconvenient and change depending on the context of your situation. It's a mess. My advice to anyone wanting to play this game, buy a Classic Controller.

SINGLE-PLAYER MODE: Single player mode is very solid, but very challenging. A storyline is present, but most people will probably find it forgettable. Really, it comes down to finding loot, hunting awesome monsters, and making cool weapons out the body parts of those monsters.

SPLIT-SCREEN ARENA MODE: This is pretty decent and my roommate and I dove into this for a little while. We found it enjoyable but the experience is fairly limited, consisting only of boss battles within a single arena with a pre-set selection of equipment. You can gain some pretty nice rewards within arena mode and it's a decent way of introducing a friend to the game. Compared to online multi-player or the single-player modes, split-screen doesn't hold a candle.

ONLINE EXPERIENCE: Getting into the online experience takes some getting used to, but this is truly the best part of the game. I would favorably compare this to Phantasy Star Online, except this is so much better on nearly every level. I do question the wisdom of the "Server -> City Gate -> City -> Quest" structure, which takes a bit of getting used to, but it does work. Without coordination and communication between other players, it is a little too easy for a newbie player to accidentally start questing alone when the real intent was to joining together for a quest. Once you learn how to navigate the online world, finding a group of people to play with is fairly easy. The game supports Wii Speak for online chat, but most players don't seem to have that peripheral at the time of this writing. I didn't experience any lag at all while playing, and once I intentionally joined a server that had the highest number of users just to see how well it performed. I was pleasantly surprised.

The player community seemed nice enough and of the small handful of people I've played with most were either helpful, polite, or silent. Chatting with your group will be important, but virtual keyboard in the game is a bit clumsy, as is the case with every virtual keyboard I have ever used. I plugged a spare Apple USB keyboard into my Wii and found that it worked perfectly and made communication much better. If you don't have Wii Speak, at the very least find a spare USB keyboard and plug it in, preferably one that uses a wireless dongle. So far I've only met one rude person with a higher level character that talked trash on me for being new to the game, but muting those people is simple. That elitist, high-and-mighty, God's gift to gaming has been permanently added to my banned players list and I'll never hear from him ever again. Problem solved. The internet can definitely do without people like that. Overall I would say that my online experience, while slow to get rolling, has been largely positive. I expect to probably spend well over 100 hours playing online with this game, possibly more.

PROS:

+++ Gorgeous graphics

+++ A hard-core loot-based action-RPG experience that quickly offers difficult challenges. Not for the faint of heart. This game will challenge you.

+++ Online 4-player cooperative monster hunting gives you the chance to share some truly awesome battles with others.

+++ Voice chat. Online play allows the use of the Wii Speak peripheral to allow players to communicate between eachother.

+++ Keyboard support. Plugging a standard USB keyboard into the Wii will allow you to chat easier with other players.

+++ Lagless online play. I was completely shocked by the lack of lag when I played online. I may just be lucky though.

+++ Online play does not require Friend Codes in order to communicate with other players.

+++ Initial character creation and customization is fairly deep, allowing a wide range of physical characteristics.

+++ Amazing enemy models and animation, full of detail and amazingly fluid.

+++ Arena Mode, a limited but decent split-screen multi-player boss challenge experience is included.

CONS:

--Steep learning curve that may scare away more casual gamers.

--Repetive mission designs, much in the same vein as World of Warcraft, Phantasy Star Online, etc. Go here, kill that, collect this, complete mission, get next mission.

--The controls when using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck are so awkward and complicated that they are almost worthless. In my opinion, this game is really only playable if you use a Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro.

--Frequent screen load times, but thankfully the load times I experience are usually less than 4 seconds.

--Although voice chat is supported it is hard to find players with voice chat enabled.

--NPC animations and character models are fairly stiff and awkward

--NPC dialogue is pretty bad. At its best it is humorously awkward and annoying at its worst.

--Online play is a little confusing at first because of the "Server -> City Gate-> City-> Quest" structure.

Releasing a deep, engaging, and time consuming game like this right at the beginning of summer is just cruel. I know I'll be torn between playing this game and hitting the great outdoors. I have a few (mostly minor) complaints about the game, but most of them truly are nothing more than minor annoyances and blemishes on an otherwise amazing game. Graphically and artistically this game is amazing and the gameplay is hard and challenging but amazingly rewarding at the same time. Taking down boss monsters, either alone or in a group, always gives a sense of achievement and leaves me craving the next hunt. When it comes down to it, this is a good solo experience packaged in with a great online experience. Fans of Phantasy Star Online, Diablo, or Borderlands should definitely check this game out since this game shares much of the same emphasis on finding loot to customize your character with.

I hadn't heard of this particular franchise until a couple of months ago, when I started hearing rumbles about it from a webcomic I read, and quickly my interest was piqued. He gave some tidbits on the game, and I delved in to research on the title. Now the title has released and I want to elaborate on it a bit, for those curious who hit this web page to help them make a decision.

This game hearkens back to older style RPGs. focusing more on development of a character then a linear story. In this game you are a new hunter recently arrived at a village with a problem. You work to gain the trust of the villagers and eventually save them.

This, however, does not cover the scope of the game. Challenging combat, many interesting weapons to learn and master, and a system of gathering and crafting that allow you to develop and upgrade your weapons lend a long game life to this title. The game has an ecosystem that very nearly feels real as you explore it.

And all of this is included in a game with up to 4 player cooperative play, allowing further depth and exploration with friends or strangers. Battles take on a whole new dimension as you work with your friends, and you can face even beasts of greater grandeur with a party.

My only minor niggling concern is that while the game states that it can be played with the classic controller or the wii-mote, I found the controls with the wii-mote to be obtuse at best. This may vary with other users, but I would recommend at least having a classic controller on hand.

This title will allow you to explore a very nearly breathing world, fight gigantic creatures in titanic clashes, and indulge in a classic and primal struggle as a hunter of monsters. This is adventure gaming at its core, with solid game play not be overlooked either by fans or newcomers to this genre.

Ok so I play games like Super Smash Brothers, Mario Kart Wii, New Super Mario Brothers Wii, Super Mario Galaxy...I mean you get the picture! Then I went outside my confort zone and grabbed this game...HOLY CRAP DUDE THIS GAME IS AWESOME! I got the we cause I have a wife and a couple kids so I thought it would be good for the family and it is but as my little girl calls..."this is daddy's game." I get home from work kiss the wife hug the kids roll to the man cave and power up the Wii. This game is so deep. If you think about it there are 3 different ways to play this game first you have the main game which is loaded with all these quest and monsters. Then you got a 2 player offline mode. Havin really messed with this but anything you do in this game is not in vain. You get rewarded for everything you. Then the online is truly awesome as well. I was in a group with 2 more people and explained to them that I was new and the were really cool about it. Teaching me the ropes. Man, we must have been on line for about 3 to 4 hours together. Now they are on my friend list and I see them almost all the time. Pretty cool talking about what new armor we got and how crazy our swords look. Glad to finally get close to the same online experience as the Xbox and PS3 owners thank you Capcom.

Honest reviews on Monster Hunter Tri - Standard

I'll say right now that Monster Hunter Tri is not a game you just pick up and beat in a couple hours. It's not a game you even beat in a couple weeks. Tri combines a lot of the joys of MMO's without deliberately punishing you for going it solo. Items you obtain in the game are usually gathered from the various hunting grounds and combined into gradually more sophisticated items. Take a potion for example, to make one you combine a blue mushroom and a herb together. Throw a piece of honey on top of that and you get a Mega Potion. It's a pretty alchemical process that leads to players often filling the item box in their room like it was a warehouse. These items come in all shapes and sizes from mineral ores you mined yourself to bugs to various plants. This isn't the hallmark of this game though, no far from it. Like the title suggests, you're there to hunt monsters and this franchise delivers like none other.

The basic premise of the game is that you are a hunter, you take jobs and quests provided by the guild to help out the locals. This usually involves either gathering something or hunting down a big nasty man eating behemoth intent on tearing out your entrails. It's not as graphic as all that but there is blood. The game is a bit different depending on if you play the single player or the online modes. The single player has you helping out the people of Moga Village after an earthquake rocks their floating sea shanty and the local fauna start acting up. The flagship monster is the Lagiacrus, the big blue dragon thing on the front cover. Apparently it decided to move into the area and has been making the villagers even more miserable. Most of your early quests involve becoming a bad enough dude/girl to go and kill the thing. Also in Offline is Cha-Cha, a little imp like helper that is part side kick, part tribal comedian and all parts monster bait. Seriously, the most useful aspect of this little guy is that he often distracts the monster's attention away from you so you can get more hits in on it. Speaking of monsters...

The game has around a dozen 'minion' type critters; pretty much just animals that can be found in groups throughout each region. Unlike other games there is no 'champion level' type of one of these things but online play increases the health of all targets since generally you are playing with friends while online and the rewards are tend to be higher of course. Then there are of course the main monsters themselves. To give the idea that each region is rather organic in nature, you never see the health bar of the creatures you're hunting and if you've hunted the creature before it will sometimes pop up during any quest in the area both offline and online. These are the true marks for you in terms of goals, most of your time is taken by either fighting, tracking or preparing for a showdown with one of these beasts. Each one is unique and requires some attention in learning how they tick. Going in like Leeroy Jenkins (spaz that charges blindly into the enemy with no strategy) is more than likely to get you killed and you'll be taking a ride on the kitty cart back to base. By that I mean some cat people (Felynes) load your butt on a wooden cart and unceremoniously drop you at the general start location for each region which is something of a rest area for you as well as a drop-off and supply station.

Upon a successful hunt you can expect more items, stuff that you have literally carved from the creature's body (usually around three times) and other items given to you on the reward screen. You then use these items to usually do one of two things, make armor or make weapons. As to be expected, there are sets of armor you can create that not only give you much needed defense but also handy skills that generally make your hunting a lot easier in one way or the other. Armor is divided into two types, blademaster and gunner. Gunner armor is for ranged weaponry with more elemental resistances and melee weapon users use the more defense heavy blademaster sets. There are cosmetic differences so you can tell the two kinds appart even within the same set. Weapons come in the form of either a Sword and Shield, Great Sword, Hammer, Lance, Long Sword, the new Switch Axe and three different weight classes of Bow Guns. Each one handles differently and comes with its own unique perks. For beginners I reccomend the Sword and Shield simply because its the most well rounded and mobile of the weapons to use and later on has plenty of uses. Weapons can also have various elements attached to them. Those being Fire, Ice, Water, Lightning, and Dragon. Then there are three status elements which are Sleep, Paralyze and Poison. Most higher end weapons deal one of these kinds of damage or inflict one of the status elements so the usual RPG style strategies can be used to some effect in this game.

Basic play is very action oriented, not in the platforming sense but in the running around, fighting local wildlife and collecting materials sense. If you can interact with the enviroment in some way it will have a red arrow icon which usually leads to climbing. Question marks are carving or collecting spots and exclaimation points generally occur over a monster's head when it spots you. You can crouch, roll and weapon permitting block. Running requires holding the 'R1' on the classic controller. The game can be played with either the Wiimote or the new classic controller which I reccomend for more precise movement and generally lesser level of frustration as some attacks with the Wiimote require twisting and as with other Wii games can lead to the player not doing the movement they intended. I must warn that there is no auto targeting fairy for you to rely on in this game. You have to align your character and gauge the distance of your attacks on your own. Bow Gun users do get two aiming modes to switch into but you can't move while doing this. This game plays in third person for the most part, the camera can be realigned behind the character with a simple tap of the correct button and it can be rotated with the right joy stick on the classic controller. The character isn't as mobile as oh say....Kratos from God of War but your character does have plenty of options where it counts and unless you get trapped in a corner by a monster it's unlikely you'll miss jumping all that much though it would be nice. In Tri swimming has been implimented so if you see a body of water that's deep enough you can dive right in. Movement is pretty typical for water based enviroments, there is a water version of the dodge which is useful, you get an oxygen bar which can be replenished via the bubble streams scattered sporadically along the bottom of all water areas. Water battles are a bit different than land battles and some monsters are at their most dangerous in the omni directional enviroment so it takes some practice.

All said and done, there is a reason Monster Hunter is so popular in Japan. It combines the right amount of RPG elements with the right amount of Action elements in a fairly organic enviroment. It reminds me alot of 'Shadow of the Colossus' in that its usually you out in a big organic world that you can interact with. The difference being in Monster Hunter the boss monsters aren't the only thing out there and they DON'T stay put in one spot. You may even find yourself fighting two of them at the same time if they both migrated to the same spot. You get a similar feeling of appreciation for taking down one of them by yourself though its safer and potentially more fun with friends. Now as I mentioned at the beginning, this is not a game you just pick up and plough through in an afternoon. It starts off slow at first, you have to earn your teeth so to speak in this game. Once you start building up your inventory, figuring out how the monsters work and amassing a versatile arsenal of armor and weaponry then that's when Monster Hunter really comes into its own and the real fun starts. You just have to have the paitence to work toward that fun. Not for everyone but for those that stick with the game it rewards them plenty.

Not since World of Warcraft has a game had me this hooked. I've put in 75 hours in 3 weeks, that's with a full time job and responsibilities at home. Mostly because of the intensely addictive online mode. My brother, cousin, and I spend hours at a time running one mission after another. Because unlike a lot of RPGs it is always intense. Even after you get to know a boss, if you let your guard down you will pay for it. And the controls, which seem to get a lot of criticism, are great. They never hand you anything. No auto aim, help in any way, but if you master them it makes it all the more rewarding.

And it always feels like you're doing the quest for a reason. You always need more materials so it makes it so rewarding when you beat a boss, and carve him up for materials to make new weapons, armor, and items. And with all the customization you will spend a lot of time mixing and matching armors for the best combinations to fight certain creatures.

The enemies are tough, but stick with it, learn their moves, and be patient, and before you know it it's lying dead at your feet. The level of excitement you feel, for a boss that took over a half hour and almost killed you numerous times, is amazing. Also, it takes much preparation. Fighting a thunder based creature in the desert? You will need cool drinks for stamina, thunder protection, and all sorts of healing items, bombs, traps, tranquilizers. You will soon learn that taking your time and being prepared cuts the steep difficulty level down.

This is my favorite MMORPG. That is something that a lot of people would argue, especially World of Warcraft's rabid fan base. But even though it's not as deep as WoW, the combat is so much more exciting then the typical right click of PC based MMORPGs. Get this game if you like great RPGs, with amazing battle systems.. or just get it if you love an extremely well put together game that will challenge you, and keep you playing for hours. I can't rave enough about this game. BUY IT!

Voodood is a young orc. He is wearing a dragon skull as a hat which he picked up when he went inside the Cave of trials. He also got the legendary Axe Reaver that was pierced through the dragon's heart.

Cons: Voodod is slow, even when he is wearing the bunny ears hat.

I got voodood for the normal price 7.99 but then it went up to almost 30 dollars which is more than you should be paying for 3 skylanders. He is a short range person his primary attack does 42 damage and his secondary attack does 30 damage. Don't buy this right now wait until the price goes down.

This is part of several Skylanders figures that we purchased and they are great. My son loves playing them on his PS3 and can interact with other figures

Honest reviews on Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Voodood

Every seller here is price gouging you. Your better off waiting until the initial popularity dies down and buying them for the original $7.97 price at wal-mart and various other places like Best buy or Target. Even Toys R' Us is only $9.99 every one of these retailers are rip off artists looking to steal your money. Even Drill Sergeant and Whirlwind are going to be released at the end of this month as part of a 3 pack in the states so they are no longer exclusive. So don't pay these prices. Boycott Amazon's price gouging and just be patient.

As for Voodood, I really love him. We bought him for 7.97 after christmas at the local wal-mart. His main ability is his axe swing and axe extend abilities. His axe extend can even hook to the environment to make up for his slow movement. His final attacks make magic tripwires. It's pretty cool lighting enemies up like that.
