I am playing this on my non-360 XBOX,and it looks gorgeous. I am anxious to see if all the hype about the 360 is true. I will have to wait because the prices are still too high for the initial offering.

However,360 or no 360,this game rocks. Yes the graphics are beautiful, and sometimes creepy;and yes,the soundtrack and ambient noises are perfect. But the game play is really sweet. No health-meters,no quick saves,no nothin' but you and the creatures who come after you, either loudly or very sneakily. And random ammo for a gun is not lying around all over the place,as in other games,so the only weapon you have is a spear. I finally learned to ration my bullets and my spears.(And you can't carry more than one gun and one spear at a time.) It's kind of creepy to be out of weaponry/ammo when you are facing a hungry creature or two. I just hate those sneaky, giant, nasty centipedes.I have gotten killed so many times by them,I'm embarrassed.

You play as a human,Jack, and once in a while you play as Kong himself, albeit too briefly. I love the frenzy-factor with Kong.

I'm sure for you young hard-core gamers, this game will be fairly easy, but for my middle-aged thumbs and hands, the pace is frenetic enough, thank you.Easy or not, a lot of thought went into the creation of this game, and since Peter Jackson was very much involved, I expected a class game, and I got one.

If you are not an experienced gamer(shooter), be patient. You may die a few times until you figure out just how to get from A to B without getting slaughtered by a T-Rex or two, but figuring it out for yourself is half the fun,as it is with any action/role-playing game,in my opinion.

Finally,I just heard on the news a couple of days ago that over-50 gamers are purchasing games at a steadily rising pace. I'm 57, a female and very much into FPS and RPG's. I consider this game to be among the best of the genre.I'm only half-way through and I am having a lot of fun. I'm addicted already,of course.

Read all of the available reviews of this game and others at the web's most popular game review sites before you get this or any other game. This is a lot of money, but I think the fun-quotient makes up for it.

Much of the community is undoubtedly prejudice to adaptations, whether that be game to movie, or in this case, movie to game. Although many would argue that most film to game adaptations are cash-ins with little to offer, King Kong, Michel Ancel's latest epic, is neither of these. Michel Ancel is well known for Rayman aswell as Beyond Good & Evil, so it comes as no shock that King Kong delivers. But nothing could have prepared me for this experience......

Director Carl Denham takes an American crew to uncharted territory called "Skull Island", a place crawling with dangers. The island is inhabited by all sorts of giant creatures and even savage inhabitants. Skull Island is where the crew docks and must explore in order to escape. Denham, Ann Darrow, Hayes, and Jack Driscoll, all play a large part in the movie and game. The story itself is quite good, it maintains interest and keeps you going to see the ending resolve. King Kong really blurs the lines between film and game, with countless cinematic moments that make you feel like you are there. Overall, Kong's premise is simple enough, but entails a tale of love, heartache, danger, and adventure. And it all comes together very nicely.

While the game is called King Kong, you will only use Kong for around 25% of the game. The bulk of the experience involves you and anywhere from one to three friends, these include Ann, Jimmy, Hayes, and Carl Denham. The opening scene has you sitting in a boat with a few men, one of whom being Carl Denham, Jack Black's character. After a short exchange of words, you row off onto Skull Island, where many nasty creatures and treacherous environments await. Throughout the game you will be making use of sniper rifles, pistols, machine guns, spears, and even bones from leftover dinosaur skeletons. Yes, there are dinosuars. A kind we had assumed completely extinct, exist in abundance on Skull island. Among those, you will face Venatosaurus, and V-Rex. Not to mention those ugly giant bat-like creatures, who will swarm you and take down your health quickly. There is no health bar, ammo counter, or anything else on-screen. This is in order to create a truly cinematic gameplay experience. You truly feel like you are there, struggling to find your friends and get off of this nightmare of an island. Without a health bar, you are left with only the examination of Jack's movement. This functions very simply: If he's okay, he will walk normally. But if he is seriously hurt, he will limp along. Without an ammo counter, you have only have Jack's dialogue(voiced by Adrian Brodey) to know where you're at. For example, if you need to reload, he will tell himself. And if you want to asess your remaining ammunition, just press the B button and Jack will tell you. Ammunition exists in perfect balance throughout Skull Island. The gunplay is surprisingly well done, aswell. And while there are only four weapons(Sniper Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, Machine Gun), all provide a satisfying combat experience.

But by far, the spears are the best weapons in the game. With a spear, you have a number of options. You can pierce enemies by throwing your spear at them, Poke/repel them, light them on fire and burn obstructing bushes with them, use them to light a friend's spear, and finally, use them to spear small larva with the objective of clearing a path covered by deadly spiders. This attracts them to the speared creature, which you have to throw near them so they'll take the bait. Before I figured out how to do that, I wasted my Shotgun and Machine Gun ammo trying to kill them. So watch out for that.

The gameplay is reasonably varied. You will shoot, spear, raft, run for your life, puzzle solve, and play as Kong. There is one section where you are fighting off the savages residing on Skull Island while escaping on a raft. This section requires you to light spears and throw them at the bushes on the hills, resulting in the destruction of the bridges they were throwing flaming spears from. This was a highlight. But even better was the short lived, but exhilarating cliff jump, where you and Ann must dive off of a cliff and into the river below. I was thinking, "are you crazy?!", but had no choice but to wing it. So I did! And once I hit the water, I went straight to the bottom and bobbed back up. You had to be there, it was something. The level design is excellent. Of course, it all looks the same and there really isn't any variation in locale outside of architecture, fittingly. But you'll always feel like you're on the edge of your seat at all times, because you really are! Whether you're fighting off Venatosaurous or crossing dangerous water or creaky planks, it's always a constant adrenaline rush.

Another definite highlight was the V-Rex encounter, where you are tasked with the difficult feat of distracting the dinosaur while Ann opens a large wooden door. You will rely on spears to get his attention away from Ann, and then to protect yourself, you'll have to hide behind stone structures, which you'll eventually run out of, as he knocks them down. No amount of shooting will help, V-Rex is completely invincible, only Kong can hurt them. Moments like this are nothing short of humbling, the sheer size of these things makes you feel like your in Jurassic Park. The way they shake the ground when they chase you, your blood is pumping, you're tempted to look back, but know that his mouth could be right there waiting for you. The sheer immersion of it all is just something only experienced in a select few action games.

The Kong sections have received mixed critical results within the community. But personally, I thought Kong controlled wonderfully. You just need to get a handle on how he interacts with his environment, aswell as working simple combos, which are essential to winning a fight. In order to kill your enemies, you will need to wear them down, and grab them with the B button, rapidly pressing B until Kong kills them. B is also used when pushing obstructions out of the way to clear a path. We've seen this done more recently in videogames, and while this proves fun, it is very strenuous to the hands. I found the combat relatively enjoyable, but the travel element is much more rewarding. Kong climbs and swings along, avoiding lava, and usually attempting to prevent the death of Ann. Kong can actually travel with Kong, you can pick her up and put her down with the B button. She will then defend herself with her environment, which brings me to the AI. The artificial intelligence in King Kong is astounding compared to most games of this type. 90% of the game is essentially an escort mission, but while this usually proves annoying, in Kong, your allies will defend themselves, hide when needed, and path find extremely well. I was actually surprised at how good it was. Which is a breath of fresh air. Overall, the gameplay in King Kong is certainly more than I bargained for, I was surprised at how enjoyable and varied it was.

Going into King Kong, I didn't quite know what to expect. I had seen some of the Kong sections in brief video form, but nothing had prepared me for just how rich and beautiful this game is. Considering the technical limitations of the Playstation 2, Ubi Soft covered up this fact with amazing art direction. Clearly the textures aren't normal mapped, and polygon counts aren't staggeringly high, but it didn't matter all that much because the art direction is so rich. For the most part King Kong looks fairly realistic, but the characters have a sort of animated way about them, sort of like Timesplitters, but a little more realistic. The texture detail on the character models isn't immense, but they animate so well that you have no choice but to be convinced. Every environment has something interesting to look at. After rowing ashore, I stood on high ground, looking out into the expanse, and the water is so beautiful, I couldn't believe it. Now Kong's water doesn't have any of the fancy technological prowess seen in games like Half Life 2 and Oblivion, but it makes up for this in style. The way the water actually moves is a lot more animated, less realistic. And it sort of plays to the Playstation 2's strengths, and I don't know, I think it's a better game because of it. Standing on a creaky rotting plank, looking out into the Island's expanse is extremely immersive, you really feel like you are on this Island, this nightmare of an Island, and that there may be no way out. There is always another obstacle, another trial, and all of this takes place in an extremely immersive and believable world.

The gun models are very well crafted, with the appropriate amount of polygonal and textural detail. The same goes for the spears, who can be lit aflame, resulting in a great fire effect prevalent throughout Skull Island. The effects are appropriately well done, considering the fact that there are many throughout the game. In one situation, burning bushes illuminate the darkness while you dodge flaming spears in an attempt to escape harm's way. It creates such a strong sense of environmental believability.

The dinosaur models are reasonably detailed, although up-close they are a tad behind the times. But then again, when facing a V-Rex you are either turned in the other direction, or at a reasonable distance. The sheer size of the V-Rex is quite impressive(about Kong's height), so considering this, the details are quite sufficient and realistic. The other dinosaurs look average for the most part, but in all honesty you will be too busy spearing them and running after your next goal to look at a few low resolution textures. I think that the msot visually amazing part of Kong was when Jack(your character) is crossing a patch of water, and these giant long necked dinosaurs begin to stomp their way through. I swear I sat there for ten minutes marveling at their beauty(texture detail is exceptional), they dwarfed both Kong and the V-Rex. And actually dodging their giant feat was a humbling experience. This is yet another example of the game's constant surprises.

The Kong model itself is modeled with exceptional detail, when zoomed out, Kong looks absolutely breathtaking, and you can truly appreciate his mass. Zooming inwards shows his flaws, however. The fur shading isn't the strongest you've ever seen, up-close it isn't very impressive. However, most of the time you will be zoomed out behind Kong, and this is where he is truly convincing. The animation is superb in King Kong, I couldn't believe how amazing it was. I would even go as far as to call it near flawless. Ubi Soft clearly spent an exhaustive amount of time on this aspect of the visuals, and it scores big points for that fact. You can even move Kong's head in different directions, up, down, left, right. When he jumps, swings, punches, grabs, it's all pulled off in a very realistic fashion. The only real complaint I have with Kong himself is that he sort of opens and closes his mouth rapidly. He never calms down in that sense. But that's really just a superficial complaint.

Another intelligent use of hardware is the draw distance. It is actually very short, but there is a lot of fog on Skull Island, and when it isn't foggy, it's dark. This clearly allowed for more environmental detail, and truly makes sense. The only real complaint I have with King Kong's visual facet is that, while playing Kong in some sections, the framerate is atrocious. I was actually surprised. But just as surprising is how it hardly affected gameplay, since all I was doing was climbing and swinging around without having to actually fight any enemies. In the end, Kong manages to strike a balance between console technology and smart art direction, and ultimately this pays off.

I couldn't possibly convey Kong's sound quality in text form, you just have to hear it. There is literally a detailed and realistic sound for everything! For instance, when you've been limping around for a long period of time, and finally slow down, Jack will actually huff and puff and sort of try and catch his breath. And it sounds so realistic, I'm telling you this game has some of the best voice acting ever seen! Done by the original cast aswell. Many times, events are triggered by NPC alert. For example, maybe after a brutal up close and personal battle with an enemy, Ann might say, "oh my God", or something similar. She acts so genuine, not as if she's reading off of a script, but actually as if she is really there! Jack Black really takes it though. Not only is he utterly hilarious, he's just animated in general. I mean when you're fighting off giant bugs, he's off somewhere with his camera shooting footage and saying things like "this island is amazing!", his mind is totally fixed on this film. Actually one of the funny parts was when we were wading through some deep water, and I happened to ask him if he was okay, and he's like "NO, my camera's getting wet!". I mean we're in such an intense situation, and all he can think about is this film, and redeeming his reputation regardless of who he puts in danger.

I almost want to call King Kong a survival horror, partly because when you hear a blood curdling sqawk or scream, you're on the edge of your seat, and sometimes even feel paralyzed in fear. Because you want to run, but you can't think straight. Next thing you know these horribly ugly giant bat-like creatures are attacking you, or there are savages screaming and throwing flaming spears at you. Sound truly does play a large part in videogames. I don't know about you, but over the last few years I've really come to appreciate good sound in my games. King Kong delivers in spades. The sound effects are top notch, the music is excellent, and the voice acting is superb. Speaking of the music, in fact. When you are badly wounded, the game will actually go into slow motion and the screen will beat red, and this dramatic violin will play over everything. Sometimes you think you're dead, but you're not, you are still being chased by a V-Rex who just hit you in the back with his head.

In the end, King Kong isn't terribly long, nor is it particularly short. Instead, it strikes a balance between the two and stays fresh for the time it lasts. It has absolutely everything going for it. Superb sound, visuals, story, and gameplay. King Kong proves that movie based videogames can be good when you put the appropriate amount of time and talent into the project. Peter Jackson and Michel Ancel really care about their craft, and I couldn't be more pleased with the way this game turned out. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a videogame. This is an example of how far we've come in every way.

Wow what a beautiful game. I am very impressed by the graphics on this one. But what about the gameplay. It is very unique. Most of the game you are a human running around in first person shooter mode. This is pretty cool. Sometimes you will have to look around in the environment to find things to use. An example would be finding a spearlike object to hurl at a t-rex. THis sounds like it would be tough, but it really isn't. While you cock the spear with one hand, your other hand points to where you will throw the spear. THis brings up a very unique aspect of the game. There is no health meter, no reticle for shooting, no ammo readout. NO nothing. You are IN the game just as a real person would be. This helps with the immersion in the game. But what about the Kong Levels? They are way fun and way short. they are probably only about %25 of the game. They are fun though. A little clumsy on the controls, but fun. All in all this is a good game. Not great, but pretty good. (...) Whatever the case, you will be pretty happy with your purchase.

King Kong! A thought of a Giant Gorilla, a Ship with explorers..

King Kong plays as you set the ship abound for the island. You have machine guns, but you also use branches and hiding. King Kong has a replay value because, you play as the explorers and sometimes as King Kong Lot's to do in the game.

The moves are plenty cool and fun to pull off. finding where to go can be the best challenge. Visualy awesom as you are King Kong fighting a Tranasourus and then breaking it's jaw and you can pick up cars and flip them. Trees with moss, Skyscraper Buildings and people that bring you in to the time of 1933.

Sound is so mached up. This is one movie game thats worth your time. If you liked Predator Concrete Jungle XBOX game like I do, than King Kong is right up your alley.

My 10 year old really wanted a XBox 360 for Christmas to replace his old XBox. We have a Wii so instead I suggested we buy some more titles for the Xbox. I purchased this one in the group and my kids love this game. They played it all day when they opened it. They were yelling and screaming the whole time cause the graphics were just that good. They were 13, 10 and 7.

The co-op alone makes this game worth the money! Now my buddies and I can hunt without risking our lives outdoors or in bars! There are lots weapons to choose from, but my favorite is the Magnum Research Mountain Eagle, especially when dealing with buffalo or bears. Watch out for Wolves though, as they tend to swarm, hand-guns are the way to go for those.

The four player vs is fun when people come over, or to play one with the right hand and one with the left. There's also tons of achievements and online leader-boards. Check for my name at the top!

I can remember many times when I'd go to an arcade, or a resturaunt, and I would ask for quarters and spend them all on the deer hunter games (considering I am one myself) which had the orange shotgun where all the deer ran across the screen, you killed some, then you turned around behind you, and there they went again. Well, thats how this game is, the arcade style deer hunting game.

A lot of buyers out there may turn this game down, because they turn to cabelas, but lets look at the facts here. Cabelas dangerous hunts is having an increasing decline in good gaming, and the newest one isnt all that great. It has a mode which is similar to this game, but you have to beat the incredibly challenging campaign in it to unlock it.

Still though, why buy this game? Well, its graphics are smooth. Its not incredibly beautiful, but it doesnt look like crap either. Its very simple, and they didnt try to cram some crappy story line in it, all you do is have to focus and kill animals. Bear, Cougar, and Wolf are in this game as the dangerous animals. Theres a large variety of animals to kill, in 6 regions across North America. You finish one locations tournaments, then move to the next.

This game is fairly easy, all you have to do is shoot animals and get rewarded. Theres lot of gun options, a trophy room, and theres a multiplayer mode where you can team up with a buddy and shoot at animals (this game can support up to 4 players!) or have a competition in Vs. mode. You can post your scores online too.

In all, this game is DEFINATELY worth buying, and it has a very reasonable price.

This game is so much fun for the entire family! The co-op is really great! I highly suggest this game for any avid hunter!

Honest reviews on Remington Super Slam Hunting North America - Nintendo Wii

This game is arcade style, meaning you are getting more or less mobbed by animals the whole time -it is not a hunting simulator. The multiplayer is simultaneous, with up to 4 players. Each player uses the same screen and competes/cooperates for targets. Players can be put on teams and have their scores summed, so, for example, 3 inexperienced players can play against 1 more experienced player.

The controller configuration can only be changed when in multiplayer mode for some reason. The default configuration is to use the B button for the trigger and A for reload, so this is what it will be when in single player.

I bought this to play with my 7 year old after playing the Big Buck Hunter arcade game. This is a very similar game and fits the bill.

Originally a hit when released in the arcades in the 80's Spy vs Spy also enjoyed success on just about every home console. I myself had it on the Commodore 64 along with the sequel 'Island Adventure' and the third one called 'Arctic Antics', which were better.

The trouble with the original Spy vs Spy is that the gameplay, while briefly fun, was too limited and the rooms of the big building you ran about in looked the same. It was easy to get lost and there was nothing particularly visually interesting about the game.

But for Spy vs Spy or MAD Magazine completest this game is a must. I've yet to play the new Spy vs Spy game (it only came out on PS2 and XBOX-I have a Gamecube) but it will probably be better than this. If you have a vintage console at home then get Spy vs Spy II or III.

I Had a Blast with this Game! Me And my Big Brother played it all the time and we still do today, my cousin saw me play it and wanted to try it out and He had a blast with it as well. It makes it more of a challenge when you put it on hard mode, the weapons you have make it more fun such as a bomb, spring, waterbucket and a time bomb. i loved this game and would recommend anyone who is wanting to buy oldschool games.

ok i dont know what some ppl r talking about. first of all, this game has amazing graphics. the cars, roads, barriers, and background buildings are very detailed. trees and people are terrrible. second, the sounds are phenominal. every car has a distinct engine noise (and going through tunnels sounds really cool too). The only bad thing about the sound is def. the music (which is some japenese techno crap) but u can play the music saved on your hard drive so the music shouldnt be a problem.

The selection of cars is impressive but not amazing. i was dissapointed by the lack of any bmw's. also most of the cars are biased towards japenese makers. About the customization system, its in depth enough for me. you can adjust turbo boost pressure, camber, gear ratios, suspension, brakes, tires and you can buy a few upgrades: exhaust system, intercooler, port polishing, weight rediction, tuned rom, turbochargers, tires, brakes, suspension and a few other things. this should be enough for all but the most anal players. The other modes are ok but not quite as good as the sega gt mode. you have your standard quick battle and time attack and you also have chronichle mode in which you race cars form one era (70's, 80's etc).

all in all sega gt 2002 is a good all around racing game for xbox. project gotham was way too hard towards the and and had too few cars. rallisport was an excellent game but it was rally only (thats not a complaint, i love rally). burnout is an insane arcade racer thats not 2 great at anything and wreckless is another great but its a mission based arcade game.i give sega gt 2002 a 4.3 out of 5 stars.

What can you say about this game? The first few hours I played this game I didn't really love it. The cars in quick battle tend to understeer and the racetracks are not as beautiful as seen in Grantourismo 3 on PS2 (Seattle Circuit...). But when you're playing Sega GT2002 mode...this game is highly addictive. The first car you can buy is a Fiat, go to your first races start tuning and saving for new cars. Here the pros and cons:

+nice looking cars

+fine sound

+motivating career mode

+nice enemy AI

+pay for your mistakes

+good (tuned) car handling

+2d animated spectators

+blurring air at higher speeds

+tune your car and let your opponents breathe dust

-I'd like more tuning options

-I've seen better trees and landscapes

-I'd like more tracks

-drag races vs cpu in split screen only

-stupid replay studio

-no rain, fog...

-only one type of sport tires

-no calibration for analog controller/racing wheels

That's a lot of "-", but this one is well worth your purchase and comes with my unqualified recommendation.

... i took some time, and gave Sega GT 2002 another try, and all right guess what? I LIKE IT!!!!!

I like it a lot!!! it has good controls, and very nice crisp graphics. That along with the addition of a custom soundtrack that the player provides. hey whats not to like?? The license tests ala Gran Turismo are very challenging, but so far have not hindered my enjoyment of the game. I have to say that this is a good game, and well worth the purchase price. XBOX hits a home run with this one!!!!! i am a true XBOX convert.

Honest reviews on Sega GT 2002 - Xbox

The first thing u think when u pop in and play SEGA GT 2002 for the Microsoft XBOX is A) How awsome the cars look and B) How hard it is.

This game doesn't have thousands of cars, or the most customizable ones. It doesn't have the greatest graphics, or the the most addicting gameplay.

What it does have is whatever u want. It's a good game, with a ton of options, and will keep you playing for many days to come.

1) The Gameplay: You start out with $13,000 dollars to buy a car. Unfortunantly, not many cars are at that price, so you'll have to start very small and build your way up. There are about 30 car companies in this game, each with 3 or 4 cars to buy. To name a few: Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Subaru, Ford, etc... Now, once u find a car that u can afford, u can buy it (first pick a color. Some cars have dozens, some only have 2 or 3 choosable colors), then you can upgrade it. Buy it a better engine, or make it less heavy. Unfortunantly, the upgrades will have to be minimal at first with the limited cash u have. So once you've selected a car, color, and upgrades, your ready to pick your race!

There are dozens and dozens of races to choose from. Each has a prize cash award (the first ones usually only 3 or 4 K). During the race, you have to watch your damage meter, because at the end, you have to pay for ithe damage u rack up. Now, once you make a few dollars and can buy a decent car, you'll realize how deep this game goes. A) You can buy 4 or 5 of the same car in different colors. Every thought of owning every color of the rainbow in Vipers in your garage? B) The never ending upgrades. Make your car cool itself better, or make it weigh less. The possibilties are endless. And with over 125 cars to buy and upgrade (and if u want, get in different colors) this game will take ages...and will be super fun in the process.

That's just the SEGA GT mode. There's also multiplayer (race against a friend or brother, NOT ONLINE), Chronicle Mode (race cars from either the 60's, 70's, 80's, or 90's and unlock NEW cars), and other modes. Each is a blast and should take a lot of time to beat.

The cars control very realisticly as well. You can't just make a sharp 360 degree turn! You often spin out, hit walls, and the whole thing is a major challenge...like really driving! This isn't some arcade racer at the mall, this is a real racing SIM. Are u ready?

2) Options: Dozens. Multiplayer, GT Mode (built a HUGE garage), buying every color of every car. Etc...this game could last u forever. But that's not all! You can also listen to some of your OWN toons while racing! Record some of your favoite music on to the MASSIVE XBOX hard disk and listen to it during gameplay! So much fun, and no offense to SEGA, the in game music isn't exactly great. A very good feature!

3) The graphics: Breathtaking! The cars shine, the backgrounds are HUGE, cameras flash from the stands. You really feel like your racing, and it brings the game (like many others now a' days) to life! Little things like 2D crowds are a bit dissapoining, but when your going 200 MPH in a Dodge Viper, your probably not going to notice. This game is massive, fun, and the graphics don't bring it down!

Overall, this is the best racing SIM out there for the XBOX. It's no Gran Turismo, but its a very good game, and should meat many people's needs. Though a few more cars would have been nice (GT3 seems to have thousands), this game has so many, it didn't really matter. Dozens of cars, companies to choose from, and colors to buy in. Customizable musicle soundtracks, and awsome mutlipler fun. SEGA GT 2002 is a great game, and a must buy for those who didn't get it with the bundle *like me*

This game is sweet. It has over 125 cars from the 60's to the present. It even has awsome cars like the new Ford GT40 and the super exotic GT90. I have seen several movies of this game and it shows realistic lighting and highly detailed cars. The best part of the game is the GT mode where you buy a car and race to win money so you can upgrade your ride or buy a new ride. All I have to say is watch out Gran Turismo 3!

Overall I enjoyed this game greatly, especially after tweaking it...

PROS:

The Last Remnant looks GREAT on a high end PC (circa 2008) and plays very smoothly.

Awesome movie sequences.

The gameplay can be addictive. If you enjoy leveling in an RPG, you'll find tons of that here (every stat levels as you fight).

HUGE party size, you've probably never played an RPG with this many NPCs that can join you (there are over 40 of them that are 'unique leaders' and countless others)

A massive number of quests (especially optional sidequests).

Battles require some strategy (trying to win every battle with the same formation and attacks will not succeed).

It's just FUN between the slick animations and the strategy, these large scale battles are a lot of fun to watch and to play.

CONS (reasons it's not 5 stars):

The addictive gameplay becomes repetitive gameplay at times.

Certain game design decisions require you to repeatedly visit an area, just to spawn a special monster (with a random appearance chance), this can be very tedious for those that try to complete 100% of the games sidequests.

CONS YOU CAN REMOVE:

You cannot equip your NPCs, only your main character (Rush) has editable inventory, but with a change of a line of code in a config file, all characters can be equipped as you see fit.

With the right trainer (look for a "C# Last Remnant Trainer" on the web) you can change your BR level (which you should read about on the wiki [see below] before you go leveling your party excessively) along with MANY other factors so the game will not become too difficult nor easy. That's why this game on the PC, when tweaked, can be a LOT of fun.

Instead of spending hours looking for arcane components to upgrade a weapon, you can use the same trainer mentioned earlier to spawn the weapon automatically in your inventory. If you think this is cheating then don't do it, but if you have better things to do with your time, the PC version of this game is sufficiently editable that you can do JUST the things you want to do with this game.

Party cap size! Your total party size is capped well below the 40 unique leaders that can join you and that's just the leader characters! So, again, use the trainer to open up the party size. I use 7 unions of 5 characters each giving me 35 characters to play with and equip...it is GREAT.

OTHER INFO:

If you try to beat the entire game (and do all the sidequests, get all NPC bonus parameters, etc..it will be WELL over 100 hours of gameplay). For some people this is just too long a game especially when aspects are repetitive, but others will love the lengthy campaign (which people claim you can beat in 10 hours if you just burn through the main story I would never do that though as gaining power in the sidequests is half the fun).

I had fun playing with a gamepad (I used the Logitech Rumblepad 2), and using the original Japanese voices (with subtitles turned on) rather than the English audio I suggest you try it this way too.

NOTE:

Search the web for "Last Remnant Wiki" and you'll find a comprehensive site that will remove all the questions about what is unlocked where, when to visit certain areas, and most importantly when some quests become inaccessible (you need to complete them before certain plot points happen, or you'll never be able to do them again). This game is not that logical, items and events can become accessible or inaccessible without a lot of warning if you constantly revisited old areas then this probably wouldn't be an issue, but when the map becomes massive you're less likely to do this. Generally speaking you're better off heading to this wiki whenever you are stuck OR you sense a major plot transition is about to happen. The game does give you a heads up when something major is about to happen.

I would recommend this game strongly if you're into PC RPG's, you like having lots of party members to chose from, and you have a (in 2008 or later terms) high end PC. If you have the patience to learn about it and edit the game as you see fit, you're in for a real treat.

Do yourself a favor and get this on PC. The visuals are absolutely enchanting. Works well with a gamepad or even a 360 controller with PC adapter, if you have one. I play it on my tv whilst sitting on the couch-just as I would, if playing it on the 360. The only difference is the graphics are much much inproved. The textures are very detailed technically and artisticly.

Story-wise the game seems pretty generic. The main kid, is the exact same kid from phantasy star universe and a dozen other JRPGs. The races the game has are very well done asthetically, but bland on personality. Gameplay wise its well done the combat is fast, entertaining as well as challenging.

All in all a respectable JRPG with very pretty graphics.

The Last Remnant is meant to be the new forerunner franchise for Square-Enix(most likelly taken FF's crown once the XIII series of games is concluded, but only in theory...) and it gets off to one hell of a start. A lot of people neglected giving this game a chance on the 360 because it had rampent lag issues and texture pop-in throughout the entire game. This does take away from the game somewhat, but with that out the way now, there is nothign preventing this version from making it a strong 9.5 rpg title.

It is heavy on story(even if it gets off to a somewhat slow start) and indeed establishes an interesting universe and premise that SE can easily expand upon in future titles. The whole jist of the game itself is to start to reintroduce the tried-and-true turn-based combat style while also making it appear to be as close to real-time as humanly possible. They do a steller job of creating the most deep and interesting battle system seen in an rpg in a long while. It can involve as many as a couple hundred enemies at points and some battle easily span 30 minutes to an hour of gameplay and, yet, you never get bored. The music plays a large part as it is a huge part of the appeal for me. It is very much like a cross between Final Fantasy symphonics and Castlevania-esque japanese, guitar-laiden, metal riffage that is done with such a perfect flair for the overall feel of the combat. Once you understand the system well enough, you can easily get absorbed in the battles more than almost any rpg I've ever played.

The characters are all interesting enough and well developed as well, including the main hero. Of late, SE seems to have pretty-boyed the protaginists in most of their next-gen rpgs and it has not gone over very well.

The graphics are nothign short of incredible on the pc. They were great on 360, but you still can't compare console power to an upgraded pc capable of playing the best games on ultra high. Check out the demo for the game first and I'm sure you will be as blown away as I was. Watching the various races move during even simple dailogue exchanges looks like a movie. The movement is beyond fluid and, when you couple that with the amazing art of the FF veteren artists, it just jumps off the monitor. The world itself is very imaginative and vast and definatelly geared towards the scope of the universe itself. It's one of the few games where I've really felt enthralled by the world and as much a part of it as any of the people within it.

The lag issues are gone, simple as that. They no longer exist and what might have taken 2 hours on the 360 now can be done in half the time thanks to that. The texture pop-in is simply a result of the engine and still comes in here or there, but it doesn't detract from the overall experience of the game itself. If you're one to define value of a game by something like that, then I don't think you're playing for the right reasons anyways.

I was hoping they would release this next for the PS3 with additional content, as well as the bug fixes, but it's looking less and less likelly so I picked this up rather than wait. I'm going to say this once and only once: IF you are any kind of rpg lover and are looking for a console style rpg that has a great story, severe polish in the graphics, a massive world full of depth, and a combat system you have never played before, then you need look no further than this game. I strongly urge the past, present, and any future fans of Squaresoft rpgs to buy this version of Last Remnant and enjoy one of the 3 best rpgs I've played in the past 2 years.

Honest reviews on The Last Remnant - PC

I need to say right away the story is as cliched as all of the other Square Enix games. Once again we have a 15 years old boy, who doesnt know his parents, who will lead armies to battle, and who will save the world. Happily, the cut-scenes are completely skippable. I'll be really blunt -None of the characters in the story are even a little memorable.

The great news is that Square came up with something a little different in this game with the combat engine. You lead armies rather than individual characters into battle. It will be 10 hours before you can create armies with lots of different combat abilities, but once you do, there is some genuine strategic and tactical thought needed to succeed at the battles. It can be fun and challenging to create different types of armies (strong magic or strong melee or a combo of the 2) to fight against a particular type of enemy.

Its important to note that you cannot directly control or directly upgrade your characters, except for the main character. This could be frustrating to same gamers but here I see why Square did it. There are so many characters that handling each one would be tedious and boring.

The graphics are a mixed bag. On the one hand there are genuinely excellent enemy models. And then there are large but bland outdoor areas. The textures repeat a lot in the outdoor areas and there is a notable lack of detail like trees or grass, just lots of cliff walls of differing colors. Over all, the game is stable and runs at a fact clip on my 9xxx Geforce card and nothing special Core Duo 2 PC.

This is turn-based combat and the game is easily 40 hours long, so I urge folks to try the PC demo if you arent sure about the gameplay.

I bought The Last Remnant off of Steam last week when it was on sale for $10. I had heard some pretty bad things about this game when it was on the consoles but I gave in and bought it on Steam because 1) it was so cheap and 2) I've heard that they worked out all the technical difficulties in the game and, if not for those, it would have been a great game.

Well, I haven't gotten very far into the game yet but, as far as I can tell, it's a pretty great game in the 'school of FF style turn-based RPGs' and really quite an amazing deal at $10. I'm really quite pleased and impressed. The pc version of this game (at least from Steam) is really worth more like $30 or $35 in the current market.

Like I said, I'm still very early on so we'll see.

It would have been perfect if they had enabled 'Steam Cloud' with it but maybe -maybethat will come down the road. I've decided I'm not going to buy any more games from Steam unless they're enabled for Steam Cloud.

Unfortunately I did not see a previous customers review of this product's seller until after I purchased this guitar from the same seller (AXNYStore). The reviewer wrote that the guitar was sold as new but arrived in an obvious used condition. I was then anxious to see the one I ordered for my daughter. SAME RESULT. This guitar has clearly been used before with all the scratches it has on it as well as the broken bits of plastic rattling around inside of it. Haven't had a chance to use it yet so I hope it works!! Beware if you purchase from this seller (AXNYStore).

First of all, despite what the box says it works FINE with Band Hero. I've had this guitar for awhile now, so far so good. I use it with both Rock Band 3 and Band Hero on the Wii. All the buttons press in easily and noiselessly. It disassembles simply to store perfectly in the box it comes in. It comes with a great strap and instructions sheet. It's very lightweight.

The functionality of this guitar is just fine, however it was sold as NEW (AXNYStore) and, although it arrived in original packaging, it is most defiantly used or refurbished. The key buttons are full of scratches, as well as the white glossy cover.

Honest reviews on Les Paul Wireless Guitar for Wii Guitar Hero and Rock Band Games

I received the guitar, and the yellow key did not work and the whammy bar was loose. I played around with the keys, read some reviews. I got the key to work, but not the whammy bar. After a week of play, the yellow key stopped working again. None of the website tricks work. Very upset customer.

I choose this rating because the product arrived broken. I ordered two guitars, and both of them had something wrong with them. The wammy bar on one of the guitars is loose and doesnt work, and the yellow button on the other guitar doesnt work at all either, making it impossible to use, since all the songs require the yellow. I was really disappointed.

Upon receiving this item i plugged it into the usb and began charging. There is no indication of when its full or not, so i left it sit there for several hours as initial charge times are generally long.

When i unplugged the battery from the charge cable it immediately began leaking fluid out of the terminals where the paddle plugs in.

Do not recommend to anyone unless you want to destroy your xbox components you plug these in to.

The battery pack works great. It charges easily and lasts for a full day of play. It is easy to remove from the remote.

The content of this release, while not top notch, does add some life to the already popular BF2 game. The sum total of the release adds new soldier classes, maps and vehicles. It does not (as many had hoped) patch a multitude of bugs in the original game. Many of the vehicles while fun at first really turn out to be nothing more than a novelty as they are not as effective as most vehicles included in the original game. Also, a blessing to some and a disappointment for others, there are no airplanes in this game. Still many die hard fans of the game won't be without this (or any other expansion pack), but the casual player can easily do without.

One tactic that EA has employed to try to keep you from doing without is that Special Forces owners are able to play on the original BF2 servers using the new goodies in the expansion pack. Many feel that this gives an unfair advantage as Special Forces players who are able to blind others with flash bangs and use other new tactics. It is a questionable marketing ploy as people who have paid for the original game must now decide if they must purchase the expansion to remain competitive. This has been a point of contention in the BF2 community and has been a constant complaint on many internet forums.

Beyond the marketing of this product, the real problems surround the complete swarm of bug reports and problem installations. Reports of computers that ran the original fine but now only get 15 frames per second are not uncommon. Also after install, a 280 megabyte patch must be downloaded (4 hours from EA with a broadband connection). This patch then decompresses to an unheard of 3 gigabytes. Many people have reported of problems with the install of this patch as the decompression doesn't always work properly leaving the user with even bigger problems than the game not running. All these problems smell of a product that was rushed out the door for the Christmas season. Quite a disappointment as the title really had unlimited potential.

Summary: A bit of new life to an already popular game but not worth the problems that many have had. You may find it worth a look... if you can get it too run.

Believe it or not, Special Forces is in worse shape than Battlefield 2 was when it was released.

EA and Dice have been slow to address showstopping bugs in the original game, and against my better judgement, I decided to give SF a shot thinking that maybe some problems would have been addressed.

Nope.

Many people are experiencing a lot of difficulty just INSTALLING the game, let alone playing it. If you are able to get the game installed (and I eventually was), you're likely to find yourself up against a host of other problems including severe frame-rate drops and performance issues, even if the original game ran well performanse-wise (which mine did).

It would be nice if companies like EA and Dice were held more accountable for shoddy product they release to their fans, especially considering that the majority of their fanbase consists of financially-strapped college and high-school students.

This is awful.

Same as my review for the original -a few new tools to use in the default kits. When I rate it a 4 as fun, I'm thinking it *would* be fun if I could actually make use of the entire game... because what you can access is pretty fun.

Also you end up downloading a 250MB (!) patch that you have to reinstall after installing the SF expansion pack. That's just uncalled for. Even with DSL every server I got made it creep along at 25 KPS, and I feel sorry for people who have dialup. If they do have dialup, they aren't going to likely be playing multiplayer either, which means, don't waste your time.

What I said about the original:

I admit it's enjoyable to play, but it's really frustrating knowing you can't access all the features of the game in singleplayer. You get half a game for the full price. I have played online, and i just don't care for it much because of the numerous problems with servers booting you off for who knows what For example, forgetting to stop in the middle of the 'heat of battle' and apologize for teamkills, or missing the little message that tells you how to forgive someone for teamkilling you. I got booted for too many teamkills when I hadn't killed any teammates. There also don't seem to be that many newbie servers where you can go to learn the mp rules and practice.

I just don't have the time for figuring out all the ins and outs of multiplayer at this point in my life. I might consider a LAN party at some point, but for now singleplayer is my main option.

You're also limited to the smaller maps in singleplayer, and smaller numbers of bots. There are tweaks you can do (if you know what you're doing) to increase the number of bots, and possibly the size of the maps, but as I understand it the bots won't know what to do with the expanded maps. In the expanded territory, it doesn't add to the number of control points or special equipment/vehicles etc. in those areas either, it just give you more room to run around alone. Yippee. So far no one has come up with a mod that allows you to access all the features of the game as single player.

You also can't unlock new weapons kits unless you play online on ranked servers and earn them, ANDn the endless hours of play needed to earn them seems a bit ludicrous to me! it seems to be made for people who have no other life, don't go to school or work and never eat or sleep.

I would like to be able to access the whole game as a single player at home, even if none of that stuff works on multiplayer unless I earn it on ranked servers.

This seems to be a common complaint on most of the forums I've researched, and with all the modders out there you'd think they'd have come up with a mod that addresses these things by now, if it wasn't that difficult to do. I'm about ready to start looking into it myself, but as a full time mom with three kids and two dogs and a part time job besides that, it just isn't that feasible.

Another problem is the realism. Why is it that a shot to the head doesn't drop anyone? I can't imagine that putting a 3 round burst of 5.56mm , or a single 7.62mm round into someone's skull from any distance, would allow them to continue on their merry way and turn around and shoot you dead (with the first shot, no less) from 75 yards with an mp5. It's a darn good things those medics can cure any injury with those shock paddles, if only they can get to you.

One thing about the AI that annoys me is that all the bots clump together. I realize pathfinding is the most difficult part of all to program for. But man, clumping together is the best way to get killed. I tend to sneak around and flank, but even if I tell the bots to follow me, they may comply for about two seconds and then go back to what they were doing. I think the Tom Clancy games handled this kind of teamwork AI far better, and without needing the high system specs that BF2 and BF2:SF require. I have enjoyed all of the Clancy games far more, with the exception of Splinter Cell too simple and easy.

Honest reviews on Battlefield 2: Special Forces Expansion Pack - PC

This game is deeply disappointing. While gameplay itself has been good, the quality of DICE's game menus and selection screens for multiplayer makes it almost unplayable. The GUI of this part of the game is completely counter-intuitive, appears to have been an afterthought, and does more to prevent players from joining games than it does to actually support them.

As an example the game often fails to load simply when you boot it up, sitting uselessly at the "Connecting To Account Server" screen during initial log in. Bear in mind, you're not logging into multiplayer here... the game needs to connect to the server so that you can even play it on your own machine against the computer, and often fails to do so!

Once in, finding a game can be impossible, or at least infuriating. The game often loads completely (takes forever), begins comparing data with the server, and breaks with no error message, returning you to the game selection screen. This process will not be unfamiliar to those of you who formerly owned Commodore Vic-20s with the Cassette Tape storage system.

DICE should be ashamed at the inattention to detail and overall poor quality of this software.

Ok, first off I sympathize with everyone who has problems getting this game to run correctly. I had my own strange problem where I installed SF after I already had patch 1.3 installed and SF would not run. So, I had to guess at re-installing the 1.3 patch. EA's qualtity control is very poor, everyone knows it, so we'll leave it at that. Anyway, after re-installing the 1.3 patch I was able to play for about 4 or 5 hours without any problems. Hopefully thats a good sign that SF is getting more stable, but lets' face it, BF2 in general still gets lockup and crashes to desktop randomly, so I'm not holding my breath. One tip to help with crashes, disable EAX sound in your BF2 audio options, it seems to help.

I'd rather focus on the game experience itself in my review, which is pretty positive. SF definately has a different look and feel to it than BF2, which is good. The changed models, weapons, maps and vehicles are a well done, and battling indoors is a nice change from all the outdoor scenes in BF2. New attack helis are sweet, and 4-wheeler really zips around. There is alot of cover in the maps, so you can sneak around and hide and get close to flags and take out enemies more covertly. This makes for a different style of gameplay than normal BF2. I'll admit, it was not worth the original $30 price tag, but now that it's down to $15 it's a decent buy. Overall, I really like SF.

My daughter, who bought the game, wrote the following review:

In my opinion, Trauma Team is the best game in the Trauma Center Series. I really liked that they took away the timer (on most of the operations, a few have time limits). That allows you to be more precise and not be so rushed. However, the fast-paced action is not lost. In first response, it's a race to keep all of your patients alive. Some of them are brought to you in critical condition. I also liked forensics and diagnosis (especially forensics). Forensics stars Naomi Kimishima (also known as Nozomi Weaver), who was playable in Trauma Center: Second Opinion. Naomi's field lets you examine bodies, investigate crime scenes, and put together information (which usually surfaces the killer's identity). This game, which is a steal for $40, was one of the best purchases I ever made!

All I can say is that if you liked Trauma: New Blood, you'll LOVE Trauma Team! Too many time game developers rush to make a sequel and it ends up a sorry re-hashed version of the first game. Not the case here. The game developers really did their homework.

The concept is pretty unique. You perform operations in 5 different areas and as you progress through the game an intricate story unfolds for each character. It's told through motion comic in an anime style and is extremely cheesy. It's like watching a bad soap opera. But trust me, the awfulness really draws you in.

You can play in any one of 5 areas:

General Surgery: Similar to the previous games in the series. This time the storyline is you play as a mysterious surgeon serving a 250yr prison sentence for a crime he may or may not have committed. HUH??!?!!

Orthopedics: Similar to surgery but you get to use special ortho tools. It makes the gameplay less redundant. Here you play as this big lumbering orthopedic doc who's also a superhero on his off hours.

ER: Here the focus is on stabilizing multiple patients as soon as possible. And again, some of the tools and tasks are different. Here you're this super-hot type A latina ER doc.

Endoscopy: I don't really like this part of the game. You basically push a scope down an orifice (mouth, GI tract, etc.) and burn things, clamp bleeds, etc. The controls are complicated and it can make you really dizzy but anyone who's pushed a scope in real life would say the same thing. So I appreciate the game designers trying to branch out and try something different. The character is pretty lame too.

Diagnosis: Here you work as this brash Internal Med doc (ie House) and have to find clues from history, physical exam, labs, and imaging to make a diagnosis. As someone who's about to graduate from medical school i love this part of the game because i pick up on what the game developers were going for with the clues. But for non-medical ppl I could see this part of the game being really boring and tedious.

Forensics: You work as this ghost-whispereresque forensics person who has to find clues after a patient has died to figure out what happened. This is my least favorite part of the game. but other ppl, especially CSI fans, may find it to be a lot of fun.

Basically the game has something for everyone in terms of gameplay and a progressive storyline that makes you feel like you are getting you're money's worth.

GET THIS GAME! It's a MUST OWN for the wii.

Best Deals for Trauma Team - Nintendo Wii

The controls are as tight as ever, and this game is still entertaining, but beware if you are looking for more of the high-pressure surgeries and challenging gameplay as you may be disappointed. To make the game more accessible (and also to keep it from becoming stale) this installment adds the possibility of working as six different doctors, not just the lead surgeon. There is a "doctor dash" which makes you treat 5 different injured patients at the same time, adding a very unique tension, although at times it can feel like half-baked minigames. The new Orthopedics and Endoscopy are more similar to the traditional "Trauma" series, but each adds new unique twists.

The two other new modes are a "diagnosis" and a "forensics." You have to analyze patient statements and survey a crime scene. They are very intriguing and some scenarios are quite engaging, though it feels fairly removed from the more traditional "Trauma" gameplay. These two modes also slow-down gameplay considerably.

It also has a coop mode, but if you decide to skip it you're not really missing a whole lot.

In short, the game offers more gameplay options, the overall difficulty is lower, the game feels shorter than previous installments (owing to the adventure-style diagnosis and forensics modes). Overall still entertaining.

Honest reviews on Trauma Team - Nintendo Wii

(Written by the daughter)

I LOVE LOVE LOVED playing this game! Every second, every mode, it was just a wonderful gaming experience from the moment I clicked 'new game'. My friend recomended me the series and then my mom got me the newest one. Since the game is almost like six in one I'll talk a bit about each of gameplay modes and my opoion of them. (I played a good deal of multiplayer with my friends and brother so I'll talk a bit about that too)

Surgury:

Just like my friend's game, Second Opoion, but I don't have a timer :D This was fun to no end! On difficulty settings like Resident(intermdiate) and Specialist(hard) it proved to be ocsaoally challenging, but like I said it was nothing but fun as soon as you read the charts and pulled out your wii remote. And the multiplayer only added to it, causing ever more drama to enter as I yelled at whoever was playing with me to hurry up and raise the vitals while I took out a tumor. XD I also loved the angst-filled storyline of CR-S01 'from death row to the O.R.' as it made even the times when I didn't have my scalple extremly enjoyable.

First Response:

Exciting, dramatic, fast. Those are some of the words I could use to describe First Response. In this mode you switch between multiple paitents and treat them at the same time. It causes lots of tension and like Maria, the EMT who is the star of this mode, even as the operation ends you feel ready to yell 'Next!'...and then you realize its over. When you play multiplayer you have to split up the paitents and keep you eyes on the vitals. And once again like in Surgury, this causes the game to become even more fun and dramatic with someone else at your side.

Orthepedics:

This wasn't my favorite mode to be perfectly honest, but it was fun all the same! In this mode you basically follow guidlines to cut bone, drill holes, and insert screws(later on remove bone tumors, which is fun) Unlike the last two modes this is all about being percise, as there are no vitals for you to worry about. Because of this it offers a different calmer emotional dynamic apart from the fast paced levels spent in the E.R.

Endoscopy:

*sigh* what to say....its defiently a different type of sugury! In this mode you move an endoscope through a paitent treating small tumors and ulcers for the most part. but its suprisingly engaging as you have to push the wii remote forward every time you want to move and use the nunchuck to steer the camera, being sure not to hurt the paitent by hitting an inner wall. Some levels (like when you treat the lungs for example) turn organs we learned about in science class into vast laberiths and mazes that you have to traverse to find the affected areas to treat. ^_^

Dianosis:

After playing this every time you hear someone cough behind you you almost can't help but for you brain to say 'new symptom recorded' that being said you will smile thinking of playing this so it won't be annoying or anything X) In this mode you diagnose paitents as Gaberial Cunningham along with your robot assistant RONI. All the dialog makes this fun to play and the medical mystries are engaging. Its classic click and point for the most part, but still enjoyable and you'll be sure to see the people you diagnose in the various sugury levles connecting the stories. This and Forensics take much longer then suguries and are the only modes that allow you to save mid-chapter and are exclusivly single player. (but they make for fun nights having everyone guess what the illness is!)

Forensics:

I LOVE FORENSICS!!! If this one mode was its own game I wouldn't complaine once! Naomi's story really adds to everything and ends up being the most emotional and dramatic out of all of the various stories. You solve mystries with your parter 'Little Guy' and there is drama ahead let me tell you! This really should be played with a friend even if it is single player. Some of them can seem a bit far-fetched at times but that doesn't stop it from being pure fun! (think...Ace Attorny without being a lawyer and there's medical mystries)

All in all I loved this game to no end and will be replaying it over and over until they (hopefully) make a Truama Team 2 and I will most cetianly be buying the rest of the Truama Center seires (or asking for Christmas) My friends all promise that more challenging operations to come in the rest of the Truama Center titles and I hope I will come to love the characters from the rest of the seires the way I love these six doctors!

We play this in my house of 4 medical students and are really impressed at how close it's getting to the real thing. . . .granted, it's not a full-out 100% simulation but it is on its wayand how amazing would it be to LEARN how to be a doctor while playing on the wii? We especially like the co-op mode where if you change who gets what tool, it feels like you have a surgeon and an assistant almost like in real life.

It's kind of funny how we go on rotations, then come home and unwind playing trauma team.

There's different types of games too longer versions for people who like CSI and Phoenix Wright, and more action-packed ones.

Overall, we bought this for $50 and it was worth every penny.

Thanks Atlus, and the more realistic your games get, the more we'll buy them down here! Keep up the fun!

East Front 2 - PC Reviews

East Front 2 - PC

East Front 2 is not perfect, but it is simply the best tactical level World War II simulation ever made. Really. It follows in the tradition of the Panzer Blitz/Leader board games (and to a lesser extent the Squad Leader games) but adds a tremendous wealth of details and realistic game features. The game includes 600 different types of units, everything from 8 different models of PzKpfw IIIs to Polish wz.06 mountain guns, to Finnish Jaeger engineer platoons. The game also features historical information, specs and photos of each unit type.

Having played and enjoyed the game thoroughly I was distressed to read Ray Crawford's notes above about a faulty and/or biased game algorithm and decided to test his observations myself. I found that they were wrong. He maintained that German MG units had about a 50% chance of destroying Soviet T-26 tanks at a 2 hex range. Actually, MG units can't even fire on armored units at 2 hexes, the game won't permit it. At 1 hex, T-26 tanks were destroyed only 6 times out of 84 attempts or about 7% of the time. This may strike people as strange though "Machineguns destroying tanks with 25mm or armor?!" but remember that that's the maximum armor thickness and not the average. Tanks and armored cars are always more thinly armored along the sides and rear. And that defensive rating each unit is assigned also reflects things like the size of the tank, its silhouette, speed, how well the armor is sloped etc., etc. From my observations I noticed that Soviet MG units can also destroy German armored vehicles: PzKpfw Is, IIAs, and PSW 222 armored cars. Crawford also wrote that all Soviet guns under 76.2mm typically had no effect against German armored cars at any range. Again, my observations didn't bear this out. Soviet 45mm guns knocked out PSW 222 armored cars 11% of the time (out of 65 attempts) at 3 hexes, their maximum range against armored targets. They were also effective against light and medium tanks (the latter at short range though). Overall, my results were in line with expectations based on the game's combat system and I didn't find any bias in the game mechanics.

It's true that in the game German infantry is much more powerful than Soviet infantry, but that was the historical reality anyway. For every German soldier who died on the Eastern front, 6 Russian ones died. Russian armored units, on the other hand, are extremely powerful in the game. The T-34 M40s are really tough to stop with just PzKpfw IIIs and early IVs to say nothing of the super heavy IS IIs and IIIs that show up in the later scenarios. The game designers seem do have done an thorough job and the unit characteristics seem reasonable and realistic.

Having said that, the game isn't perfect. The spotting rules don't seem accurate. Infantry moving through woods are typically spotted from over 1 km away. I don't like the way units are 'blind' when scouting in unfamiliar territory and can't spot enemy units until the end of the turn. Sometimes you end up blundering into a large enemy force out in the open or even finish your movement next to them and are given no chance to react. The simulations during movement and combat run too slowly as well and the AI isn't all that great. The computer will sometimes vacate a victory objective to advance and engage the enemy, and it generally acts too predictably. But in a game this complex, it's not terrible and the scenarios are generally interesting and somewhat challenging.

So in spite of these shortcomings East Front II is a really wicked game. I find that the most successful tactics are the most realistic ones. You end up basing your plans on the maps, weather conditions, supply situation etc, and end up fighting for the best tactical position instead of just slugging it out mindlessly. The infantry assaults work best when done in a true to life fashion: artillery bombardment, smoke, infantry advancing with MG support and a final close assault when the enemy is disrupted or 'pinned down'. The game also has a virtually unlimited replay value. It comes with over 130 ready-made scenarios plus some in depth campaign scenarios. You can generate your own scenarios in minutes with the scenario generator or carefully design your own. And then there are the on-line and play by e-mail options. After playing EFII for more than a year I still feel like I've only scratched the surface of its full potential.

So, summing up I give the game 4 and a half stars (rounded up to five). Having played war games since I was a kid I'd have to say that EFII is the best one out there in its category. If you love detail, realism, the chance to plan and execute well thought out attacks, you'll love this game.

East Front 2 is excellent value, the vast array of scenarios and campaigns alone is sure to keep enthusiasts busy for months. The addition of scenario, map and Order of Battle editors make the possiblities limitless (I haven't had to use these much, as there is an abundance of additional user and designer created scenarios on the web). The Gamespot reviewer states there is no save available during campaign scenarios this is not true! The game state is saved automatically whenever you exit you can resume the scenario in play at your liesure. Much has been made of the inclusion of supply the rule is sound and represents command and control as much as the ammunition state (the manual does state this). It also accounts rather handily for a number of other variables that can effect a units firepower . That aside the very absence of re-supply for units in tactical battle is the main reason for your troops conserving ammunition when there are no clear directions coming from above. Overall this package is only surpassed in value by the compilation that includes it (i.e. Europe in Flames).

Playing this game on a 733mhz, here is what Ive got to offer in play and operation. Very good and quite adequate. Excellent sounds bytes, and if you have an enhanced speaker system, you'll drool. I used a Klipsch set with a sub woofer. Some of the traditional songs of your side add to the game.

The only bad part of this was when you want your Icon of what ever to go somewhere, sometimes they went the wrong way around, and end up being spotted. If you click the Icon to move hex by hex, you take out the speed of the game, but your staying hidden from Line of Sight! It did get frustrating though.

I did not have any game play problems.

My only offer to expand of such a thing would be this, simply at the smallest unit group you can (Battalion), It would be really cool if you could select a Command Vehicle and Zoom into it during either movement or into contact/battle. Then when its over, you may zoom out and resume the overall map-scale of battle again. Perhaps that would take a CRAY to play it, but I can dream can't I?!!

I believe the historicals are right on! Armour facings, ranges, fog-of-war, good job gang.

My only complaint is as a german or russian player, you have no say in a production time-table or equipment type to change some of the Order of battle tables, as in 12 O'clock High. Currently, you are given what a real person gets, and if you understand the German war production politics behind the scenes, you understood the mis-givings on why you didnt get the good stuff until it was too late. Who the heck wants to keep on advancing with Pz III's when your facing SP152's! RUN AWWWAAAAAAAAYYYYYY! the only thing you can hope for is your Artillery being able to stun them enough, if you catch them in heavy and costly terrain factors,(hills/forest/woods). Then Plink at then disabled.

I still think its really cool to be able to take out a german tank with the russian AT-rifle!

I hate the fact that you have to plan years ahead to move your Russian Towed-artillery with those tractors! you easily get over run, as they move so slow(two hexes in excellent terrain if you're lucky)

Tactics; you play it as you see it. Remember, if you pick to be a Corp Commander........you've got one heck of a map to deal with!

A great Fog of war factor is the airstrikes you call in, dont always hit the target YOU want.....its what they see.......and its sometimes you!

A valuable feature to play with is the Binocular glasses active so you can see what your unit can see.

Interlocking fields of fire, Smoke screens are valuable. I took out a large group of Tiger tanks with SP76s cause I had the smoke on them until the last minute. AMBUSH! Risky,,...But successful!

The battles are well done and very historical. I only wish there were more points given upon completion of the scenario to replenish your forces adequately again, even if its a tactical victory success.

One point to consider, there were many battles involving rivercraft/gunboats, some with Russian Marines deploying into battle to offer a flanking action against german forces holding their ground. You dont have them in this. Though a small force, the Russians did use them. Same as the Russian Para-troops and Partisans, although if you read the history, the Partisans didnt enjoy the benefits of being a full-fledged Airborne qualified individual; Historically, they were just thrown out the plane at a slow speed, and at a low altitude, at gun point(!!) and hoped they found a forgiving drift of snow! Fact!

It would be cool though to have an airborne drop come in at your discretion, at a designated location to pitch a battle!

Great Game. Eastern or Western fronts!

Honest reviews on East Front 2 - PC

I wargame, alot, just ask my wife. TalonSoft's EFII is well worth the time and effort to learn. Thats right, effort. Like any well designed game there is a definite learning curve to mastering both the tactics particular to and the interface of the game. The interface is kind of clunky at times until you get used to it. The tactics are true to life (at least for a sim.) with the exception of the supply rules which just don't make sense for anything other than the largest scenarios. That being said, the game is awesome in its design and scope. Lots of beautifully done options are available so there is lots of replayability. Best of all, you don't choke to death on charts and tables like in TAHGC products unless you want to delve into the well done beefy manual. A great game for history or simulation buffs. Bravo Talonsoft!

The controller is the standard XBOX 360 wireless controller. The box contains a wireless controller hub. Supposedly, up to four controllers can be connected to a PC through this hub (though I presume not many games will let you use this feature). I have not tested connectivity for more than one controller at a time.

There are no apparent problems with this, on this Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium install. Plugged the hub into a USB port in the back, pressed the center button on the controller, and ready to go. Works great in Grand Theft Auto 4 (driving much much easier this way).

Can't wait to use this for DiRT3, yeah

The software is nothing special. In fact, beyond the standard joystick control panel, there is nothing else. You can test the functionality of the buttons, D-pad, analog sticks etc. And that's it. Would be cool if the software would allow programming of the buttons, or let you assign macros to the buttons like Intellitype for instance. Logitech does a much better job!

But I will not complain... the hardware is top notch and works great... and wirelessly.

If you already own an xbox 360, try to get only the wireless hub.

If you want a wireless controller to use for your PC games, then this is a definite must have. I snagged one for use with "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" and it works great. Being that the game is already set up for use with the controller, it was immediately identified and all buttons linked to what they are meant to do. Only takes a few minutes to get the hang of the new set-up (find a quiet area away from people in the game to practice), but the controller is way better than using the keyboard and mouse. Even though the majority of the keyboard does not work when using the controller, gladly you can still use the tilde (~) key for acessing the command console and the "PrtScn" button is active for taking snapshots. The only minor negative note I have concerns not be able to fully use the keyboard when the controller is plugged in. It should work in conjunction with the keyboard instead of completely blocking most of its use. As for the unit itself, it is very comfortable to hold and use. All of the buttons are placed perfectly. Once you know which one does what, moving and fighting in the game is a snap. There are some extra plug-in ports on the controller that are not identified as to their use in the simple fold-out instruction manuel. One on the top below the word "XBOX 360" and another on the bottom between the hand holds that has three holes. Would be nice to know what these are for, but the instructions have nothing on them. All in all, this controller is well worth the price and works perfectly for PC games, especially newer titles.

I am very impressed with this product. Not only is it offered at a great price, but the included wireless adapter that allows me to sync up ANY wireless XBOX360 controller (up to 4) with my pc for multi-player fun is most excellent! Nothing is better than sitting back on my futon and playing Skyrim on my PC with a controller, or bringing my friends over to play Magicka or an emulator based multi-player game using multiple XBOX360 controllers synced up to my pc.

The only issue I have seen is that there is no way to turn the remote off when you stop playing, however the XBOX360 controllers have a very easy to access battery compartment. You only have to press the button and pivot the battery cover a small half inch and it will power off the remote. Nearly as easy as a power switch!

With Steam's new Big Picture, your PC becomes a media center and with ease you can control it via your xbox360 controller.

100% will buy this again if I need to, but based on the excellent experience I have had so far, I do not see there being any issues in quality to where I would need to buy another. Seriously thinking about purchasing one as a gift for a friend however :)

Using this remote with XMBC is a bit of a setup, but once you do some searching (google it) you can find a somewhat simple solution and get it working just fine. It is not the controllers fault, it is actually XMBC's and Windows gamepad config's fault. Easily fixable. :)

I have only used this to play Skyrim on Windows 7 Home Premium but it works flawlessly. Also, the cord for the USB adapter is surprisingly long (around 5-6 feet) allowing me to place the adapter on my desk (behind my monitor).

this game is great, the fans of dynasty warriors and samurai warriors will enjoy it imensly. the levels are long and beutiful and chocked full of guys, as long as you want to you can wade through enemy troops being able to now choose three officers instead of one, you switch between them during battle using the triggers meaning you can zip around the map with faster characters then switch to the powerhouses when in battle, you can also switch during combos making it harder to be stopped. goemon ishkawa and kunoichi are back but katsuie shibata and koji sasaki are left out. still, one of the best warriors games so far, if it had a character creation system it'd be perfect but alas there is none. with 4 storylines to choose from it's fun for hours of rampaging slaughter.

This is worth every penny to any Dynasty/Samurai Warriors die hard fan!

First off the graphics are the same. Frame f=rate may be a little smoother but overall the game is worth the price when you compare it to the rest of the Dynasty Warriors franchise. Someone mentioned that it's too easy to unlock the characters....ok dude it's over 70 playable fighters how hard does it have to be for you to feel like you got your money worth? Play it on the hardest mode then say that. Who has that much free time? Not everyone, that's for sure. I think the game is excellent how it is. I like how they made the upgrade system and the 3 tag team is a plus. Until they step up with a next generation game with todays expectations, Warriors Orochi is the BEST of the series next to the Dynasty Warriors GUNDAM for any GUNDAM fans. The price for Warriors Orochi is fair to what the game offers and I can bet you in a year this will be a very hard to find game on certain systems. I've played most of the Dynasty Warriors series since it started off as a one on one sword fighting game like SoulCaliber for PS one. This is a must have to any D.W. fan! No other Dynasty or Samurai Warriors game has this many playable characters available on the same game. Some games are ment to trade in and some are ment to keep. My opinion, this is a sleeper hit for the series and a keeper. There is really no need to buy a Dynasty or Samurai Warriors game if you get this one.

Best Deals for Warriors Orochi - Xbox 360

For those who don't enjoy hours upon hours of repetitive game-play, then this game is not for you. For those who've enjoyed the offerings of the Dynasty and Samurai Warriors series, then this game is right up your alley.

The game contains over 80 playable characters, and, if I had to make any criticism, it would be that these characters are too easy (phenomenally easy) to unlock.

Honest reviews on Warriors Orochi - Xbox 360

I've been a fan of Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and Koei games in general for quite some time now. And there are certain groups of people for which Koei games are a favorite. If you read many of the gamer magazines you'll find that most Koei games automatically receive low ratings. I think that there is a bias against Koei games but I really don't care what other people think about the franchise, I'll continue to buy Koei games because I like them. Warriors Orochi brings together the warriors from both DW and SW with an interesting storyline. I would've like more cinematics. This game feels slightly rushed but still a great bet for geniune fans.

It was an idea that should have been test marketed a little more because if most of the players who play Dynasty Warriors 5, 6, 7. or 8 are playing for one major reason.... slash and kill as many of the enemy as possible. Pretty straight forward. In Orochi, they threw in some weird changes that do not enhance this pleasure. If you like being able to change characters with the push of a button and keep track of their health and other things, you might like this. I myself will stick with the basic slash and kill approach.
