In my opinion, Trauma Team is the best game in the Trauma Center Series. I really liked that they took away the timer (on most of the operations, a few have time limits). That allows you to be more precise and not be so rushed. However, the fast-paced action is not lost. In first response, it's a race to keep all of your patients alive. Some of them are brought to you in critical condition. I also liked forensics and diagnosis (especially forensics). Forensics stars Naomi Kimishima (also known as Nozomi Weaver), who was playable in Trauma Center: Second Opinion. Naomi's field lets you examine bodies, investigate crime scenes, and put together information (which usually surfaces the killer's identity). This game, which is a steal for $40, was one of the best purchases I ever made!

All I can say is that if you liked Trauma: New Blood, you'll LOVE Trauma Team! Too many time game developers rush to make a sequel and it ends up a sorry re-hashed version of the first game. Not the case here. The game developers really did their homework.

The concept is pretty unique. You perform operations in 5 different areas and as you progress through the game an intricate story unfolds for each character. It's told through motion comic in an anime style and is extremely cheesy. It's like watching a bad soap opera. But trust me, the awfulness really draws you in.

You can play in any one of 5 areas:

General Surgery: Similar to the previous games in the series. This time the storyline is you play as a mysterious surgeon serving a 250yr prison sentence for a crime he may or may not have committed. HUH??!?!!

Orthopedics: Similar to surgery but you get to use special ortho tools. It makes the gameplay less redundant. Here you play as this big lumbering orthopedic doc who's also a superhero on his off hours.

ER: Here the focus is on stabilizing multiple patients as soon as possible. And again, some of the tools and tasks are different. Here you're this super-hot type A latina ER doc.

Endoscopy: I don't really like this part of the game. You basically push a scope down an orifice (mouth, GI tract, etc.) and burn things, clamp bleeds, etc. The controls are complicated and it can make you really dizzy but anyone who's pushed a scope in real life would say the same thing. So I appreciate the game designers trying to branch out and try something different. The character is pretty lame too.

Diagnosis: Here you work as this brash Internal Med doc (ie House) and have to find clues from history, physical exam, labs, and imaging to make a diagnosis. As someone who's about to graduate from medical school i love this part of the game because i pick up on what the game developers were going for with the clues. But for non-medical ppl I could see this part of the game being really boring and tedious.

Forensics: You work as this ghost-whispereresque forensics person who has to find clues after a patient has died to figure out what happened. This is my least favorite part of the game. but other ppl, especially CSI fans, may find it to be a lot of fun.

Basically the game has something for everyone in terms of gameplay and a progressive storyline that makes you feel like you are getting you're money's worth.

The controls are as tight as ever, and this game is still entertaining, but beware if you are looking for more of the high-pressure surgeries and challenging gameplay as you may be disappointed. To make the game more accessible (and also to keep it from becoming stale) this installment adds the possibility of working as six different doctors, not just the lead surgeon. There is a "doctor dash" which makes you treat 5 different injured patients at the same time, adding a very unique tension, although at times it can feel like half-baked minigames. The new Orthopedics and Endoscopy are more similar to the traditional "Trauma" series, but each adds new unique twists.

The two other new modes are a "diagnosis" and a "forensics." You have to analyze patient statements and survey a crime scene. They are very intriguing and some scenarios are quite engaging, though it feels fairly removed from the more traditional "Trauma" gameplay. These two modes also slow-down gameplay considerably.

It also has a coop mode, but if you decide to skip it you're not really missing a whole lot.

In short, the game offers more gameplay options, the overall difficulty is lower, the game feels shorter than previous installments (owing to the adventure-style diagnosis and forensics modes). Overall still entertaining.

I LOVE LOVE LOVED playing this game! Every second, every mode, it was just a wonderful gaming experience from the moment I clicked 'new game'. My friend recomended me the series and then my mom got me the newest one. Since the game is almost like six in one I'll talk a bit about each of gameplay modes and my opoion of them. (I played a good deal of multiplayer with my friends and brother so I'll talk a bit about that too)

Surgury:

Just like my friend's game, Second Opoion, but I don't have a timer :D This was fun to no end! On difficulty settings like Resident(intermdiate) and Specialist(hard) it proved to be ocsaoally challenging, but like I said it was nothing but fun as soon as you read the charts and pulled out your wii remote. And the multiplayer only added to it, causing ever more drama to enter as I yelled at whoever was playing with me to hurry up and raise the vitals while I took out a tumor. XD I also loved the angst-filled storyline of CR-S01 'from death row to the O.R.' as it made even the times when I didn't have my scalple extremly enjoyable.

First Response:

Exciting, dramatic, fast. Those are some of the words I could use to describe First Response. In this mode you switch between multiple paitents and treat them at the same time. It causes lots of tension and like Maria, the EMT who is the star of this mode, even as the operation ends you feel ready to yell 'Next!'...and then you realize its over. When you play multiplayer you have to split up the paitents and keep you eyes on the vitals. And once again like in Surgury, this causes the game to become even more fun and dramatic with someone else at your side.

Orthepedics:

This wasn't my favorite mode to be perfectly honest, but it was fun all the same! In this mode you basically follow guidlines to cut bone, drill holes, and insert screws(later on remove bone tumors, which is fun) Unlike the last two modes this is all about being percise, as there are no vitals for you to worry about. Because of this it offers a different calmer emotional dynamic apart from the fast paced levels spent in the E.R.

Endoscopy:

*sigh* what to say....its defiently a different type of sugury! In this mode you move an endoscope through a paitent treating small tumors and ulcers for the most part. but its suprisingly engaging as you have to push the wii remote forward every time you want to move and use the nunchuck to steer the camera, being sure not to hurt the paitent by hitting an inner wall. Some levels (like when you treat the lungs for example) turn organs we learned about in science class into vast laberiths and mazes that you have to traverse to find the affected areas to treat. ^_^

Dianosis:

After playing this every time you hear someone cough behind you you almost can't help but for you brain to say 'new symptom recorded' that being said you will smile thinking of playing this so it won't be annoying or anything X) In this mode you diagnose paitents as Gaberial Cunningham along with your robot assistant RONI. All the dialog makes this fun to play and the medical mystries are engaging. Its classic click and point for the most part, but still enjoyable and you'll be sure to see the people you diagnose in the various sugury levles connecting the stories. This and Forensics take much longer then suguries and are the only modes that allow you to save mid-chapter and are exclusivly single player. (but they make for fun nights having everyone guess what the illness is!)

Forensics:

I LOVE FORENSICS!!! If this one mode was its own game I wouldn't complaine once! Naomi's story really adds to everything and ends up being the most emotional and dramatic out of all of the various stories. You solve mystries with your parter 'Little Guy' and there is drama ahead let me tell you! This really should be played with a friend even if it is single player. Some of them can seem a bit far-fetched at times but that doesn't stop it from being pure fun! (think...Ace Attorny without being a lawyer and there's medical mystries)

All in all I loved this game to no end and will be replaying it over and over until they (hopefully) make a Truama Team 2 and I will most cetianly be buying the rest of the Truama Center seires (or asking for Christmas) My friends all promise that more challenging operations to come in the rest of the Truama Center titles and I hope I will come to love the characters from the rest of the seires the way I love these six doctors!

We play this in my house of 4 medical students and are really impressed at how close it's getting to the real thing. . . .granted, it's not a full-out 100% simulation but it is on its wayand how amazing would it be to LEARN how to be a doctor while playing on the wii? We especially like the co-op mode where if you change who gets what tool, it feels like you have a surgeon and an assistant almost like in real life.

It's kind of funny how we go on rotations, then come home and unwind playing trauma team.

There's different types of games too longer versions for people who like CSI and Phoenix Wright, and more action-packed ones.

Overall, we bought this for $50 and it was worth every penny.
