I got this guitar for $59.99, no shipping and no sales tax. I didn't really need it, as my plastic RB3 guitar was holding up nicely, but for that price (even cheaper than my plastic guitar) I just couldn't pass it up. I know that this guitar has been out for a while and that when it came out it was $300. There's no way I would have paid that much for it,especially since the pro mode guitars now out aren't even that much, but if you can get a good deal on it it's definitely worth checking out if you're into guitar-based rhythm games.

First of all the appearance is stunning. The sunburst finish on this thing is absolutely gorgeous. The pictures really don't do it justice. It's actually a nicer finish than I have on my real guitar. As advertised the entire body and neck of the guitar is actual wood. The fretboard and buttons however are plastic with a rosewood appearance (much like the appearance of the standardRB2/3 guitars). This isn't the plastic you're used to from these guitars though. It has a sort of weird "softer" feeling that you really have to feel to understand. And yes, those are actual tuning keys, that do turn. Completely useless on a video game controller, but a nice touch anyway that really adds to the appearance.

Onto how this guitar actually plays. The fret buttons are almost dead silent, which is very nice and they feel very well built and high quality. I've yet to miss a note that wasn't may fault. The strumbar is does make a "clicking" sound. It's not as loud as a GH guitars strumbar, but it's definitely noticeable. I know several people like the clicking, some don't like it, it's just personal preference. I've played enough with both types of strumbars that I really don't care which type a guitar has. Despite the clicking, it still looks and feels more like an RB strumbar, though it feels a little..."stiffer." You have to use a little more force to move it. It takes a minimal amount of time to get used to, but the result is a strumbar that feels more sturdy than any other I've ever used. The back and start button are modeled after volume and tone knobs, but with "back" and "start" printed on them. Despite the appearance, the back button is a simple push button. Like on the standard RB guitars, it's in the perfect position for pressing with your pinky if you're like me and like to activate overdrive that way (though the tilt sensor on this works great too, doesn't seem to be set too low or too high). The start "button" actually does turn a little bit until a little "click" indicates that you've "pressed" it. A good way to prevent accidental pausing. The whammy bar and selected switch are there as well and work perfectly. Nothing really special to note about them other than the fact that the whammy bar is a little longer than on the standard guitars.

A couple final thing to note. First of all, it does NOT come with a strap. If you don't have an extra one laying around somewhere it's probably bes you pick one up. For lefties, there is no strap peg on the other horn of the guitar and no way to put one on it unless you want to modify the guitar a bit. I was hitting the back button on occasion when whamming at first. This required a bit of an adjustment to my play style when whamming, but it didn't take long to adjust. Finally, the headset jack is in a very odd place. There's a plastic panel on the back of the guitar. On the side of this panel closest to the end of the body and the strap peg, there it is. I looked around for it for a while to find it, and at first I was worried I might end up rubbing against the plug of my headset with it's positioning. As it turns out though, it didn't affect me at all and didn't get in the way. Still definitely worth noting as it had me wondering it this guitar even had a headset port.

Overall this definitely gets a 5 from me. If you can find a good deal and you play guitar games at all you owe it to yourself to check it out.

UPDATE 9-21-12

I'm seeing a lot of comments below saying that a strap, as well as a couple other nonessential accessories ARE included, but in a rather unnoticeable and easy to miss part of the packaging. I'm normally very thorough in checking out my packaging, but it's possible I missed it. It's been a long time since this I wrote this review though and I no longer have the box so I can't confirm if this was an error on the seller's part or my part. It SOUNDS like it was my mistake, but again, I can't confirm. Either way I'm not too worried about it, from the comments it looks like it was nothing I really needed and I have too many straps laying around anyway lol.

While I'm updating, I might as well mention that this guitar is still holding up phenomenally well. It plays and looks every bit as good as the day it arrived, and that's after a LOT of extensive use. I went through I don't know how many plastic guitars back in the day, and it still amazes me that I can go on a marathon of some of the most insane songs in Rock Band and at the end of it all the buttons are still working perfectly and the strum bar is still as precise as when I took it out of the box. As these peripherals become more and more scarce over the years, durability is an enormous factor for those who are going to want to keep rocking out long after the controllers are impossible to find. This has served me well ever since I got it and it seems like it's not going to let me down any time soon.

I bought two of these when they went on sale, and now own four of them. They are filled with some seriously strong components.

Over time I've used the standard Gh guitars, and liked neither the clicking, nor the size and buttons. I switched to the RB pack-in and killed it off within two months, all the while feeling the strum-bar get sloppy and the whammy bar do the same as time went on. I then picked up the Mad Catz wired P Bass, (The wireless wasn't out yet). It lasted for 3 months, and then I went to a wireless P Bass which lasted 4 months. Following that I bought the Wooden Fenders and have had them for over two years now with no signs of wear even now. There's still no trace of a problem with the strum bar, the whammy bar, or the fret buttons. They hold up remarkably well and are drop dead gorgeous.

The build quality is superb and the fit and finish is better than a lot of real guitars I've seen. The fret buttons, whammy bar, tilt sensor, and other parts are all excellent and work the way I'd hoped so many other controllers I've tried over the years would. If there's a problem playing the game it's your fault and not the fault of these controllers. An all around excellent product.

An added bonus is since I'm already used to using a full size and weight controller, it made the transition to the Pro-Strat easier.

These are expensive controllers if you don't pick them up on sale. But if you get them at the right price, they're a much better bargain than anything plastic out there. And both finishes are as beautiful as a high end guitar and gleam like a mirror. They also include a Fender labeled strap in the box, as well as a set of Duracell batteries and an adapter for the stomp-box, and one for the headset. These pack-ins are in an unmarked box in the package so don't throw it away by mistake!

Buy one of these beauties and you won't regret it.

As a side note, if you don't like controllers with clicky strum switches the clicking can be eliminated easily and for less than $8.00. I have posted a vid on YT on what you need and how to do it. Check the comments to find it.

The newest versions of these have a fairly heavy feeling strumbar return spring when they are brand new, but the spring will ease off after around 3-5 hours of play. After that initial break-in period the spring tension will be lighter and will stay very consistent, and it won't loose tension like most other controllers do over time.

The Mad Catz Xbox 360 Rock Band Wireless Fender Stratocaster Replica Sunburst is as close to authentic as video game guitar controllers get.

== Design ==

As the price suggests, no expense is spared. This is the absolute pinnacle of gaming peripheral design and construction. The neccessary plastic buttons, knobs and switches are laid over a real fender stratocaster body, neck and headstock. Even the tuning pegs on the headstock are authentic and fully functional; unfortunately, they jangle about as you move the guitar (fixed with some weak, gentle glue). The glossy sunburst finish and the heft of the wood are just great. This is just a beautiful wireless (3 AA batteries) guitar that you may want to keep out on a stand rather than tossed into the back of a closet.

A few departures from a standard stratocaster are the neck finish, a slightly oversized whammy bar, and the fret spacing. Strats usually have a solid maple neck or a maple neck with rosewood overlay. This replica has (i believe) a real maple neck but with a plastic rosewood-like finished inlay. Rosewood would have been very impressive and slightly better on the fingers. The longer whammy bar makes it easier to use. The fret spacing, similarly eases play by conforming to the rock band guitar controller's spacing. An actual strat has wider frets at the top and narrower frets at the bottom, in a gradual transition. A real strat also has several more frets on the neck. It's understandable that Mad Catz would want to stick with the video game's convention for fret layout, but I would have preferred the layout of a real strat, as I'm sure most guitar players would. It would have been very slick to be able to pop off one set of buttons and pop on the differently spaced set at will.

== Performance ==

Playing with the Fender Strat Replica is a real pleasure. It is the most accurate controller I've tried. With the size and weight of a real stratocaster, it will add realism and comfort to the whole Rock Band experience. Overdrive is activated by tilt sensors, but unlike cheaper guitars, it works exactly the way it should. The clicking strum bar is fairly stiff and requires much more force than most other guitar controllers. It takes some getting used to, but after an hour or two you'll have no problem coaxing out a quick and rapid response. This is a guitar that feels like it will work just as well in 2 years as it does today. One negative, it lacks the auto-calibration of the Rock Band 2 guitar.

== Conclusion ==

While the price is steep, you're getting the best Rock Band guitar controller on the market and a work of art. Although I will have to report back a few months from now, I doubt I'll experience any sort of wear and tear, as I have with other guitar contorllers. A warning to parents some of the positives (heft and size) could be big negatives for someone under 54" tall. If you have already taken the plunge for most of the DLC, Xbox 360 Drum Rocker,Xbox 360 Rock Band Wireless Fender Precision Bass Replica Hot Rod Red, and a mic stand, I'll easily recommend this to complete your high-end set up. For those just looking to replace a faulty or broken plastic guitar to play a couple hours a week, obviously this may be overkill.

Honest reviews on Rock Band Wireless Fender Wooden Stratocaster Replica for Xbox 360

When I unwrapped the guitar from the box, I was immediately struck by its beauty. This is not a toy. The plastic fret keys are indistinguishable from the rest of the wooden frets on the fingerboard. The metal turn pins, tremolo and bridge are exactly like my real electric guitar, and the frets are also separated by metal. It is a hefty piece of equipment as well. I was concerned about playing for hours on end with a 7 pound guitar around my neck/shoulders, but I found it a very familiar feeling from playing real stringed instruments.

Some people have complained about the fret width, but I don't have a problem with it. I have big hands, and it was easier to play than the plastic RB Strat. I was putting a lot of pressure on the plastic guitar on the keys with opposing pressure on the back of the neck to make it work. I don't have to do that here. The pressure on the keys is all that's required. Now my thumb can simply provide support instead of pressure.

I flat out love this guitar.

Let me first admit that I'm a Guitar Hero fan. I adore playing all of the Guitar Hero games, and we have multiple guitars in the house (for multiple platforms) so that we can jam together. When Harmonix turned over Guitar Hero III to another company, I was really curious what they would choose to do next. I am THRILLED with the result Rock Band, which combines together all the fun of singing karaoke, playing guitar (lead and bass) plus DRUMS!!!

My boyfriend is in several bands, and he plays lead guitar, bass guitar and drums. I love to sing. So we have played many, many games in all of these genres (including the Donkey Kong Konga game which is surprisingly fun). We were quite interested to see how the Harmonix guys would merge these variety of instruments into a single game.

First, the instruments. The guitar is FAR better than the guitars previously released for Guitar Hero. The buttons are "full fret" making the much easier to press. You don't have that annoying ridge line. You get TWO sets of buttons in fact one for easier guitar solo play. You have sound settings. I can't say enough about this guitar. The only thing it lacks is stickers :) Really, couldn't they include a sticker set or two, to customize the thing? A minor flaw :)

The drum set is REALLY cool. It comes with a stand and it has a very nice feel to it. My boyfriend complained a bit about the wood sticks not being smooth, but heck, you're not paying for high quality sticks here.

There is a four-plug USB hub so you can actually plug all these items into your XBox 360 :) And there's a few headset adaptors, and a microphone. We already had several of these.

Now for gameplay. The graphics are visually lovely, although really, with up to four people playing and singing, the background stuff is pretty meaningless. The screen is taken up by all of the progress bars and alert bars and so on. I do have to comment that the customization for your characters is AWESOME. You customize their style of movement (punk, rock, etc), their facial look, hair style, eye color and much more. Plus you can buy all sorts of great outfits in the store. Never mind equipment. They really went overboard in this area.

I found when I played an instrument whose track was on the far left (the lead guitar, for example) that I could easily see the "overall progress" bar showing how everyone in the band was doing. I could see that the drum guy was doing poorly and slipping down into the red. However, when *I* was playing the drums and the visual for my drum track was on the far right I had NO idea how well or poorly I was doing. That overall band progress display was on the far left (past the other instruments' tracks) and there was no way to watch both my own drum note list and see how I was doing at the same time. So you almost need to designate whoever is playing in that far left track as the "band alert person" to yell out if someone is doing not so well.

The band works as a unit. If for example the drums are doing poorly, but the guitarist is doing well, the guitarist can use their energy the rev up the crowd which helps everyone in the band. So the guitarist can save the drummer, for example. On the other hand, if the drummer is really bad, after a few failures, the crowd gives up. You can't have the remaining players try to play the song out.

Which brings up one of my only complaints about the game. Let's say you start a band "Asia" with the leader being a drummer. Now any time Asia wants to continue on their career, the drummer MUST BE PLAYING. In real life, band members change positions sometimes. You have a drummer who also likes to sing. But here, if you have a position set as the leader, the game can't be played (with that band and the songs it's unlocked) without that instrument being played. We found that really annoying. You should be able to say that person X now wants to play instrument Y and keep going.

Now, interestingly, my boyfriend plays the drums. He found the drum pads AWFUL to use and thought they were broken. We swapped off and he took over guitar while I played with the drums. I did a 100% performance. So it's something about the way you hit them. I *think* they have to be hit pretty close to dead center, with a sharp rap. I'm not a drummer so undoubtedly I'm not hitting them "technically right" but I am able to sail through many songs on easy with 100%. So it's a matter of getting used to how they work.

The vocal / mike track is much like any karaoke game, and you "yell" to activate overdrive. It's a lot of fun. I did try several songs with a mike stand setup so I could play guitar and sing at the same time. It was a lot of fun but part of the mike track is "cowbells" where you're supposed to thwap the microphone in time to the beat. Unfortunately if you're busy playing the guitar or drums you no longer can thwap the microphone. I tried yelling "POP" and it worked about half the time, if I used a very snappy sound to my POP. Still, it's a shame you can't sing and play because of this.

The songs in this list are GREAT. I really love some of them, and there were few that I simply didn't like at all. It's cool that they have multiple venues per location, instead of the Guitar Hero games where there was just "one Boston" and so on. You have to actually earn a Van or Bus or whatever to move on to a new city. You actually build up a fan base as you go, and lose it if you do poorly. That is all very cool. On the down side, the progression of songs is rather odd. You can play 2 songs you like in Boston, and then go to Chicago and play the exact two songs again to earn more stars there. The songs seem to unlock slowly. I'm also not overly fond of several modes where you have no idea what songs are coming up until 2 seconds before the songs begin.

They do have a training mode and solo mode, but really you figure the great appeal of this game is to play with your friends, using the various instruments. So we found that interface where you are stuck with a single leader, and it is very much one-person-one-instrument oriented, to be a bit frustrating. Sure, I love playing drums but I love playing guitar too! Sometimes I love to sing. It didn't seem like it should be THAT bad to let a person switch instruments once you'd unlocked a bunch of venues and songs.

Finally, I really like that right from the start you have access to all difficulty modes, and can set them by person. So if you have a really great guitarist in your family, and someone who is perhaps younger or just getting started, the great guitarist can set themselves to difficult and the younger person can set to easy and both can have a really fun, challenging time.

I am really looking forward to new song downloads too, and imagine that could make this game last years and years and be just as much fun.

Highly, highly recommended if you can get your hands on this thing. We were there right when the store opened to get our hands on ours, and it sold out immediately. Well worth tracking down!! Note that I have photos of the instruments on my website and am happy to answer any other questions you guys have about this game.

When I first heard that Harmonix was creating Rock Band, I thought to myself, "Guitar Hero Remix". Until I heard about the mic and then the sweet drum set. So I was amped for this to come out. Then GH3 came out and all I could think of was "Dang...Rock Band better be awesome cause I just can not put GH3 down". Then I hit up my local Best Buy with a mock set-up of RB..and once I hit those sticks on those drum pads..I was in heaven. I was already going to buy RB, but now I HAD to have it.

I bought it the day it came out as soooon as my local Target opened up. Went straight home (with Kane & Lynch also...which at this time hasnt been played..heh) and began opening it up. After a few minutes of setting up (drums take a few parts to put together..nothing hard though..no tools), I was ready to go.

I started off with the drums (like probably most people). I'm gonna have to say..they are a lot tougher than I thought they were gonna be. I've never played drums in my life so it's gonna take a little time to get used to them. When I tried them at Best Buy...they had a demo that didnt include the base pedal. Well now I have to worry about stepping on that, while also worrying about where I'm slamming my two sticks at also. Sounds easy right? I really dont think so..least not yet..lol. By no means am I dogging this part though. I can see that this will be a lot of fun, especially when you start playing on Hard. On Easy the beats are so slow that I really do not feel like a rocker... I feel more like I'm some slow drummer in some jazz band. But I know it's like that to get people like myself accustomed to this new piece of equipment.

Secondly, I grabbed the new guitar. I put it on Medium and began playing a bunch of songs. I looovveee this guitar. The top fret buttons feel so good. One the edge of the green button and the orange button, there is a lift about half an inch high. So when you start playing on Hard or Expert and you start moving up and down the fret buttons trying to hit every button, you won't get lost cause you'll bump into those lifts. Definitely helps out. Also at the bottom you have 5 more fret buttons with the same color. Once a 'solo' appears on screen (the background will be a shade of blue) you can use these buttons and not even have to strum. Just hit the buttons once the button appears on the line. So much fun and you feel like even more of a rocker. The selector on the guitar has a bunch of sound effects that you can do on the fly. Pretty cool I guess, but I swear I cant hear a difference. Not saying it's not there, but I just havent heard the difference yet. The ONLY gripe I have about the guitar is the Whammy Bar. Its so dang long and almost gets in the way of my strummer. It looks very good, but I'm just not diggin it. It's not crazy bad where you would hate the guitar, but I would have liked it just a bit shorter. One last thing about the guitar. My roommate is insanely good at Guitar Hero and he is in absolute love with this new guitar and the new way it plays out on Rock Band. He doesnt even want to look at the GH guitars anymore..lol. He has issues with the whammy also though.

The Mic is next. I've never played a karaoke game before on any system. I never really cared for it (even though I do like Karaoke sometimes...when I'm drinking). I also didnt really know how it worked. Well before I stopped playing RB for a while, I decided to try it out. HOOKED. Seriously hooked on this part of the game right now. I was laughing at first while singing cause it was just funny to me, but then I really started getting into it. Then my roommate wanted to join in with the guitar. So we picked Creep and aced the crap out of it. Next thing you know we had Mississippi Queen playing and then I'm standing up and just rockin the mic. Right then I could just TELL this was going to be a very fun party game. I'm getting off track here. Ok, back on. When you sing you have to keep the pitch or tone of your voice on track with the line that shows on the screen. There is an arrow that will let you know if you are to high or to low. When it's time for your 'energy' meter (star power), you can just make any noise or statement you want to to activate it. I just usually hold out the note of the last word longer than usual to activate it...or scream ARE YOU READY TO ROCK?! (cause it always gets a laugh..lol). The only thing I dont care for is that you have to tap the mic on certain parts to make a tambourine sound or a cow bell sound. It's not bad if you are JUST singing, but I can see how that would be crap if you were playing a guitar or drum also. It doesnt HURT you if you miss those beats, but you dont get extra points. So far I love the mic, but probably cause I've never played those Karaoke games before like I said.

Although the 360 version isnt wireless cause of Microsofts greedy self (they use a proprietary wireless that they charge companies to use and Harmonix didnt want to pay for it so they could keep the PS3 and the 360 versions the same price), it's not TOOOO bad. The wires are a lot longer than the GH guitar wires. Plus the 4 port USB that comes with the game is a godsend for this game (make sure you have one more outlet for the USB plug). Hopefully they'll make some wireless stuff later.

When you start your career, you'll get to start customizing your guy or gal you want to use. Lot of different things you can do also...I was very surprised. If you ever played any of the Def Jam fighting games, then you might think back to those games like I did. Faces, Rock Styles (fighting styles on Def Jam), Hair, Height, Color, Rings, Bracelets, Pants, Shoes, Shirts, Tattoos. It's crazy. Lots of items to choose from the start and more and more as you get farther into the game. I unlocked 5 things in 5 songs I believe. I cant talk much about career mode since I stopped after my first 5 songs since I had to get ready for work. What I played though was really fun and what I've read and seen on videos (mainly from the rockbands website) its seems like it's going to be a blast.

I still love Guitar Hero. 1, 2 and 3. Not 80's, but whatever. I'm still gonna play them because of certain songs. But I think Rock Band has become my new favorite. Especially since once in a while, we have a good group of people show up to just drink and play GH. I think Rock Band is gonna replace that thanks to the 4 player support, GREAT song list, and more than just a guitar or two to play with. Actually I know it is..lol.

While you are reading this... I'm pretty sure I'm playing Rock Band. =D

***UPDATE for 22 Nov 07.***

2 more gripes about this game.

1. Harmonix seemed to use a LOT of constant repetitious notes..for example..you have to hit the blue button say...6 times in a row..then the red..6 times in a row..then back to blue..6 times in a row...then yellow..six times in a row...and on and on. I dont mind this on some songs...but I'm just saying they used it a lot this time around. Even my roommate was getting aggravated with it.

2. I believe my guitar is starting to act up like others that I have read. My strum bar after only a day is getting less responsive on the down strokes. I'm missing notes for no reason. I started using the up stroke instead and now I'm hitting ever note. I'm gonna send a request for a new guitar soon. Usually I'm not a victim of the faulty hardware that many people come across (I've never even seen a red ring of death in person on the 360...knock on wood), but this time I think I am. *sigh*

Cool stuff I like though since I first posted.

1. I figured out how to use the Guitar sound effects switch. Gotta be using star power (energy..whatever). Very fun!

2. Love how the star power adds up even while you are using it. Huge improvement over GH's.

Thats it for now.

LOVE this game...really I do. Just wish the guitar didnt start messing up. =(

***UPDATE for 23 Nov 07.***

2 really cool new things I like.

1. I REALLY love how when you are doing good during a song...the crowd starts to sing along with the song. WOW! That made me feel more like I was there than GH ever did. Very cool feature.

2. During Thanksgiving...I took my game over to a friends house. We had enough people to put a 4 player group together. Talk about A LOT of fun. 2 people never even touched GH before. Yet they had a blast playing all three instruments. The one girl I was playing with who I would have thought would've been on the mic more since she likes karaoke STOLE the drum set almost the whole time..she loved it. It was a lot of fun watching her beat the crap out of the set..lol. I was on mic most of the time since most were scared of it. Sometimes other people took the mic over, and even though they were sometimes bad..it was never embarrassing. Most of the time the other people were to engaged into their own playing or either it was so bad that it wasnt embarrassing, but just down right funny.

I had way to much fun with that game this Thanksgiving. Like I said way earlier..I knew this would be a great party game. We didnt even think about putting GH in.

Best Deals for Xbox 360 Rock Band Special Edition

I pre-ordered the Special Edition of the game and had it delivered in time for Thanksgiving with the family and the kids. As the other reviewers have commented, this is a great game, lots of fun especially when playing multiplayer.

Only problem is, there seems to be a production flaw in the guitar's strum bar. Strumming down only works a fraction of the time, and at times it will think you've hit it multiple times when in fact you only hit it once. As a result, even if you're playing perfectly, you end up getting booed off the stage because the guitar controller is not working properly. On the other hand, strumming "up" works fine. I tried tweaking the "calibration" on the game through setting after setting, but it didn't work.

After doing a quick internet search on the EA RockBand community bulletin board, I realized that many other users have been having the same problem, and that the guitar controller is to blame. The manufacturer/publisher must know about these problems, because it only took me a few clicks at the EA Games website to order a replacement.

Until the replacement guitar controller gets here, I found that you can still play the game by strumming up--finger plucking, like you would do on a bass--but this makes fast songs like "Highway Star" almost impossible to complete, though I was able to do it. Once they get these defective guitars out of circulation, I might give this game five stars. But I would wait until these defects are worked out before shelling out the big bucks for the game.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Rock Band Special Edition

I am a parent and purchased this game for my kids for Christmas. I gave it to them early so they could get more enjoyment out of it. The first time they played it the drum foot pedal broke in half. I contacted EA support and was told they would send me another one in 3-5 days, which would have been okay, but they would charge my credit card $125, which they would refund once they received the old one, or they would send me packaging to return the old one and they would send me another 2 weeks after they received it. I asked how much it was just to purchase another one and was told it was $25 but I couldn't get one that way due to demand, but I was free to purchase them when they released individual instruments later in the year. I have to say my kids did get to play this game as their cousins got one and they loved it, but obviously the customer is not important to EA. I do not understand why they feel the need to charge their customers 5 times the price of the hardware to replace their broken product, I would gladly have paid for a replacement so this wouldn't ruin my kids Christmas, but I think 5 times is excessive. Overall I think the game is a lot of fun for the kids but I am very unhappy with the hardware support.

I've only had Rock Band for XBox 360 one day, but I can easily recommend it to any and all. This special edition comes with everything you need to play the game a guitar, mic, drum set and the game. There is a fourth instrument however bass, which is played using the guitar. If you want to play guitar and bass at the same time, a second guitar is needed. Fortunately, the guitar hero guitars work well if you have them. If not, I recommend buying Guitar Hero 3 bundle for xbox360, which comes with a wireless guitar. The instruments for rock band are all wired (to USB ports on xbox 360), which can be annoying, but on the plus side, they don't require any batteries!

Thanks to Karaoke Revolution and Guitar Hero, singing and playing faux-guitar are nothing new for video games. They've been done, and done well. In fact, you should check them out too.

What hasn't been done before is the drum set. The set you receive is made from mostly aluminum and hard molded plastic, extremely durable. Gaming magazines have reported the drum set as taking tons of abuse without being worse for the wear. The 4 well-sized drum pads are on a ~30° tilt, are adjustable in height and have a good, rubbery spring to them. The foot pedal is awkward at first and could be more responsive, but certainly does the job. Everyone in the family will be eager to give it a try, and once won't be enough. One word of caution unless you're a percussionist, start off with Easy and expect to make plenty of mistakes. It will probably take a LOT of practice to make it up to Hard, but then again, being a good drummer takes a lot of practice too. And perhaps the best feature of Rock Band, unlike other music video games, is by the time you hit Expert, you'll actually be able to play drums.

The special edition bundle may be pricey, but if you and/or your family are at all musically inclined, you'll get more than your money's worth. Just one note of caution although far from the volume or noise of a real drum set, between the drums and singing, you may want to set this one up in the basement.

This is honestly one of the best Xbox games I have. This game is like a mix between GTA, Twisted Metal, and Need For Speed. It has the features of GTA (guns, cars, gangs) the cars of Need For Speed (fast, big, auxilary, sport cars, ) and the whole game is like Twisted Metal! The weapons are great too.You get 9mms to Desert Eagles to AK-47s to tons more different kinds of guns. The cars are the best!you get lowriders and hummers and trucks and lots more I haven't unlocked yet!Plus, the missions are very easy, but some took me 3-5 times to beat. The whole game is nonstop racing and shooting. But be aware this game has explicit swearing in it.So, if you like Twisted Metal, GTA, or N.F.S. then get 187 ride or die!

I'm so glad that I rented this turkey first instead spending 50 smackers on it. While the graphics are nice they are hardly ground breaking. This didn't hold my attention for more than 15-20 minutes and even then I was looking for an excuse to eject the game from the console. I think ubisoft messed up some where in the gameplay area sure it has elements of twisted metal gta and a few others but that just didn't cut it for me. The controls are the bloody worst thing I've ever had to get used to when trying to drive and shoot at the same time. Better luck next time guys.

Good, cheap cable. I bought one of these to serve as an extra cable half of the charger for Apple Laptops. The corded sides of those adapters are just fancy looking 2-prong cables so you can buy these cheap ones and route them underneath desks or other places that are a hassle to crawl under and plug your adapter in. Then just carry the box part of the adapter around. Not quite as convenient as having two complete adapters but cost a lot less.

Real Myst
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Back when the original Myst came out the two gripes I had were that 1) It was just a slide show and 2) It was stuck at 640 X 480. I realized that the systems at the time could not handle a full motion 3D version and it would look like crap if they could. What you have here is basically the same game in full 3D with user-definable resolution/bit depths up to 1920 x 1440, 32 bit color. You should see this game at 1920 x 1440 with 32 bit, uncompressed textures and full-screen anti-aliasing. Every frame is like a high-res calendar print! I have a PIII 533 EB with 256 MB of RAM and the ATI Radeon 64MB DDR video card. Please understand that the makers of this game were not concerned about performance issues; they just wanted to make it look as good as possible hence there probably is not a machine in existence today that can run it at 1920 x 1440 32bit and get 60 frames per second. My machine gets about 5 fps in outdoor scenes and upwards of 30 indoors. This is with all the settings maxed out. Lower resolutions don't seem to help. I think it's because of the animated textures. Both the sky and water are full motion animated textures. When you just sit and look at them they go at at least 30fps. When I first got it I just sat on the beach and watched the clouds go by and the waves lap against the sand. I was then shocked to eventually see the sun go down with a gorgeous sunset and stars starting to peep out, and eventually night fell with a sky full of winking stars which were periodically obfuscated by the passing clouds. As far as 3D graphics are concerned, Unreal Tournament is no comparison. These are flat out the best 3D graphics of any game ever. The mouse movement was not a problem. I don't know what some of the other reviewers are talking about. I have played many 3D games extensively and had no problems whatsoever adapting to the interface. If anything it's easier than the original version. Buy this game now!!!

Myst, the game that sold over 5 million copies worldwide and is still considered one of the most popular games around. Imagine yourself stranded on a deserted island and in order to get out of the island, you have no choice but to explore the island. In the process of doing that, you discover the dark secret of the island...

In the original Myst game, in order to get around the beautiful surrealistic landscape, it was just a simple mouse click on the static 2D image. To move left, you click on the left of the screen, to move right, you click to the right of the screen and so on. It was like watching a slideshow. In RealMyst, the new version of Myst, all this has changed.

Myst was just like real life. You will never die and you have to solve many cleverly designed puzzles that are scattered all over the island. The puzzles are fun, but can be frustrating at times. And the fact that you can never die is actually a plus point, it takes out the frustration of solving the puzzles.

In RealMyst, the storyline is the same however, there is a new ending, which is actually a bonus stage that was not included in the original Myst. Everything in RealMyst is in 3D and real time. Unlike most 3D games, the textures of RealMyst are strikingly realistic. RealMyst also features real time, that means that night will turn into day and there will be weather changes. All these new features and the freedom to move around and look in any direction that you wish, will fully immerse you into the rich and surrealistic world of Myst.

RealMyst could have been better if not for the steep system requiremnts. Even on the the fastest computers, it runs slow.

Overall, RealMyst is a game worth playing but if you are looking for something fast and exciting, this is not the game for you.

Best Deals for Real Myst

I like the Myst Universe. While it is arguably more visual flourish than a deep story, the Myst universe has the abiltiy to pull you in. This suspension of disbelief is intensified by removing the jarring still frames of a slide show and opening up to full 4-D freedom. Graphically, RealMyst is gorgeous: real-time lighting effects, atmospheric shifts from night to day, birds and frogs moving about. While the geometry is slightly simplified from the original, the retexturing with more realistic materials more than makes up for it. Sound is more well done than the graphics. In the Channelwood Age, there are three distinct levels of ambient sound. On the ground, water gurgles and frogs croak. As you ascend to the trees, wind begins to blow, leaves rustle, and birds chirp. Music fades in at appropriate moments to accentuate discoveries and set the mood. Graphics and sound almost are the gameplay, but those two aspects are supplemented by intuitive puzzles. If you have never played Myst, this is a definite buy. If you have played Myst before, even years ago, you may find yourself finishing too quickly. By today's standards, RealMyst is a short game. If you are quick-witted or have some recollection of the original game, you can finish this is a few hours. Once the game has been played through, there is nothing left to brig you back.

Honest reviews on Real Myst

I take exception to the professional reviewers comments about Myst in general, though it is true that to run realMyst you DO have to have a monster system...fortunately, I just bought one recently.

If Myst were such a dog of a game, as the reviewer says, why has it been a top seller for SEVEN YEARS??!! Obviously, he is one of those blood-n-guts, X-treme violence, action-oriented, adrenaline pumping game fans. I do not feel that all computer games have to be of this genre, and obviously I am in good company.

Yes, I'm a Myst junkie, but my first experience at gaming was a gentle game called Loom, by Lucas. The puzzles, though simple, sometimes took a long time to figure out, but I appreciated not dying during the game, and being able to try and try again. Myst is a much better game, of course, but some of us just like our gaming to be cerebral and slow-paced, rather than having to keep shooting and try to figure out how to survive on the run.

Oh, yes, I am eagerly awaiting Myst III: Exile...

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Real Myst

While RealMyst offers fans a lot of what they have always wanted, it does have it's limits. The good parts are that you do get to move around in a more realistic world, and the birds, fish, rolling waves, animals and addition of night to day are really quite beautiful. There are the added benefits of what brought Myst fans to near cultlike adoration: it is a relaxing, soothing game that has wonderful music and allows the player to really feel that he/she is entering another land. It still has that appeal and that's what makes it fun.

The bad part is that anyone with any sensitivies (like myself) to motion are going to have to be very careful. Within 10 minutes of starting the game, the movement got the better of me and motion sickness set in. The movement is "real" in the computer sense but in computer movement, there is no such thing as a "steady cam". So any movement of the mouse produces a lot of "yaw" and "pitch". The playing screen fills the monitor field and there is no way to adjust it and put a border around it to allow your brain to orient itself. Careful, slow clicking and movement will allow you to play the game with the drawback of making it a VERY slow process. But for those who would like to experience amore realistic Myst, it is worth the money and time and with exposure, anyone who is sensitive can build up a tolerance.

I don't know why this game received all of the bad reviews from critics but let me say this game is pretty awesome. Beautiful graphics and simple gameplay that you can get addicted to within a matter of seconds. If you like the Ratchet and Clank or Jak and Daxter games, you will definitely like this game.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

This is my first Amazon review ever. I know people say that a lot, but I'm doing it because I want to level out some of the mixed reviews it's receiving. I'll admit after reading some of the initial reviews, I was hesitant to even open my copy. I decided to take the plunge, especially with all the buy 2 get 1 free deals. At least I hadn't paid full price.

GAMEPLAY: I'm now a few hours in on Knack and I really can't support the sub-par reviews. The gameplay is excellent and that is what this game is about! It's sort of like Crash Bandicoot meets God of War. What's even more reason to get it is the local coop. It's perfect if you want to play with family, friends, or a girlfriend/boyfriend who don't normally play video games. The controls are simple, just a few basic moves like jump, attack, special attack, and dodge. I will say the the game has it's challenging moments. Playing on easy, maybe normal, the first time through is advised.

STORY: The storyline is your basic tale and seems pretty linear. It's enough to be interesting, but it's not it's driving factor. I'm not far enough into the game to say much more on this.

GRAPHICS: The game is very pretty, even if it is cartoon-like. Both the character and environment details are crisp and clear and you can tell it's a next-gen title. Knack has so many moving parts and I've found myself pausing to admire it more than once.

CONS: The reviews I've read take issue with the story, the cinematic sequences, and the fact that Knack's abilities are restrictive. I'd like to comment on those. No, don't play this game for the story. It doesn't make the game and that's ok. The important thing is it's not a deal breaker. Yes, the cinematic sequences do begin somewhat unexpectedly and are seemingly things that the player could have done themselves. Here again, it doesn't affect the game enough to be harmful. Knack's size and his power-ups are determined by the games design. So yes, the game does limit Knack on how big he can be, and what special abilities he has to take on the baddies. I think the game should have allowed a bit more freedom and let the player choose how they want to approach certain situations.

OVERALL: Sony was up front in saying this is a second purchase kind of game, and I think that's the best way to put it. It's also the reason you should buy a second controller. This game is exponentially more fun with a friend! Either way, the gameplay is worth the purchase, especially if you bought two games and need a third option for free. My biggest (but not big) complaint with the game is the fact that it limits Knacks size and abilities based on the area. I'd like a little more leeway on how I play the game. For that reason, I would give it 4.5 out of 5, but I can't so I rounded up.

Best Deals for Knack (PlayStation 4)

UPDATE:

I beat the game over the weekend and without spoiling anything I think it turned out to be a great, sometimes frustrating, experience. In some places I felt like I was cheated being killed with one hit and that's where co-op game will help you a lot while playing it. If the second player dies, you don't have to go back to a previous checkpoint. When I was playing on my own I died so many, many times and when I found out how much I had to play again I wasn't happy because I had already used my power ups.

Another thing you should do is get the mobile app (I got it for iPhone) so it can help you get some of the pieces for gadgets to use during the game, it's your typical 'Bejeweled'style game but if it helps get those gadgets faster, sounds good to me.

Yes, the story is predictable and the script is VERY cheesy, but I would not rate this game as bad, on the contrary I stand by my first review that it's a 'Great Launch title for the PS4'

ORIGINAL:

I wasn't really impressed when they first announced this game a few months ago. I definitely changed my mind!

As it has already been showed in several presentations before, the game style is very similar to what you would expect from games like Crash Bandicoot and maybe it's just me but I got a feeling it was also similar to Banjo Kazzoie, bringing a lot of really fun memories from a while ago.

My friend and I spent a couple of hours dedicated to the co-op mode only. It was fun, challenging while easy to get into it too. There are a few games that include a good co-op mode in the same screen lately. Most new titles focus more on the online experience but forget that some games were meant to be played with a friend, in the same room. I'm not sure if Knack will be considered one of the greatest Sony exclusives ever but it is definitely worth the money (especially with that deal they had "Buy 2 get 1 free") and time. Since Watch Dogs was delayed (I know it wasn't an exclusive but it was my go-to launch title). This and Killzone will have to make up for it for a few weeks at least.

Also, it's really cool seeing the character grow from a very small one to a HUGE powerful one!

I agree with one comment I read about the game somewhere that the levels are sometimes as amazing and epic as the ones you can find in God of War games

Summary:

-Graphics. The cartoonish style looks so real (You'll understand when you see it). Definitely an improvement from the previous gen but nothing crazy impressive. It will probably be outperformed by titles later in this generation. But for the time being, it looks great!

-Co-op mode is a blast. Probably the best reason to get a second controller right away

-Fun

-Engaging story

-Good variety of things to do

Honest reviews on Knack (PlayStation 4)

I have stop making reviews on games cause, I'm very busy now of days...

but after I seening a lot of people making very inmature reviews here and big name sites too so

I had to say something

Knack is a GOOD game

it's not perfect but no game is

it's a beatem up game with a very cartoony feel to it

it's very simple game to play, but yet you lose from time to time

cause it's hard when your not ready for it

this game may not be worth 60$

and I understand that... but I hope to give my 60$ to help become a big hit game

because it has a LOT going for it :)

*looks great and feels great

*very cartoon movie feel to it

*lots of hidden items to find

*can be really hard if not ready for it

*co-op play on the same screen

*A good starting game for kids :)

Trust me I've been gaming for 20 years from the start of NES

and this game can be great ... just give it a shot with a fair mind.

or at lest get it for your kids and you'll get to play with them to on it. :)

Thank you. I hope this help you and if you have anything to ask about the game, please do ^^

Really fun game if you play with friends. If u have xbox ontrollers u can have multiple people on the same computer i think, otherwise ur gunna have to get ur friends to buy the game as well to play with you. PC version has much more content and goes on sale more often but PS3 version offers an easier way for multi-player as u can all play on one TV as long as u have multiple controllers. I really like how they have communication via microphone built in to the game so u dont have to skype with your friends while playing. It also makes it possible to just talk to random people that your in game with to coordinate better. Personally i dont enjoy playing unless im playing with my friends but thats just me. you can download a demo on steam client to see if u like it before you buy it but trust me, its a ton of fun with friends.

If you are reading this review trying to figure out which seller you should buy your modded controller for... Look no more.

A great product is not only based on what it is, but what comes with it as well, Genius mods will not only provide you with the fastest, most stable and powerful mod controller in the market

but they will also provide you with grade A costumer service (and believe me about costumer service as I work for costumer service for a major airline).

I live in Costa Rica and I decided to buy the controller in the nick of time with 2 day shipping so that I could get it in a quick flight i had to Folsom California, needless to say the controller made it to the final destination ahead of time in pristine condition with a very nice look. The guys at Genius mods answered my emails in just minutes even at 11pm on a saturday night, now that is costumer service. They made sure the controller was shipped quickly because they knew in advance of my situation and how I needed it by a due date because of my quick travel.

As of the controller, the feel is great, it is solid, sturdy and great quality look like. The mod is amazing, I have used it mainly for Gears of War 3 and you can simply destry everything in your path with the hammerburst... Drop-Shot for COD is insane, you will take down everybody and hey, no one will ever hit you! I have also tried the mod for other titles such as: Left 4 Dead 2, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Battlefield 3 and Resident Evil 6 and it just gives you an amazing edge over your opponents.

Don't hesitate to buy from these guys and make sure you follow them on Facebook and Twitter as they hold amazing deals and giveaways on a regular basis.

I had ordered 2 controllers. One worked perfectly, the other did not so I sent an e-mail which was responded to with a personal phone message within the hour. GeniusMods, sent me a replacement controller RIGHT AWAY so I would have for Christmas and a return label to send the one that didn't work perfectly back. I would give 10 stars for customer service if I could and I should note that the other controller works exactly as promised and my sons are sharing it until the other arrives. If by some remote chance, yours is not perfect, I would suggest just giving those folks a call and they will make it right as they know what it takes to run a successful business. Also, their product is easy to use, instructions basic for 10-12 year olds to understand and makes for less frustrating play!!! Thank you GeniusMods!!!

They even remembered that i called earlier in the week and began investigating the issue. I cannot say enough about the wonderful customer service they provide.

Now, as far as the modded controller, it is absolutely great! very Sleek, sturdy and the mod offers more than I anticipated. We have only tried it out on GOW 3, but judging from what i observed, it is awesome. Lay them down with the Hammerburst!

I have heard absolutely no complaints about it! I would not hesitate to purchase any other item from GeniousMods! thank you.

Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Pack - Darklight Crypt Review

Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Pack - Darklight Crypt
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about, but I have played Skylanders extensively, with and without my preschooler. The game itself is a lot of fun to play, and $20 is not a lot of money to pay for 4 collectible figures and an additional chapter inside the game that provides a new hat and soul gems for other characters. The adventure itself is not terribly difficult, but was a lot of fun with novel gameplay elements of the "living world" and the "spirit world" and the need to switch between these to change abilities of enemies, enable the collection of items, and the opening of doors. Essentially the entire chapter is a puzzle, and it was a lot of fun.

Contrary to the reviews suggesting you can just by the character seperately, you cannot, not at this time anyways. The included character, Ghost Roaster (who is not available individually at this time), is by far the most fun, and possibly overpowered character I've used so far. He is a melee undead character, and his special ability is turning into a laughing, flaming skull that plows through any emenies or breakables in his path. I use this as a primary attack since it is so good, and I also use it to move quickly around the chapters since it moves at about 3 times the speed of normal walking. After training, enemies killed will produce ghosts that also attack enemies, and can eventually be consumed by Roaster to heal damage. Great character.

Also included are the Time Twister and Healing potion. While I haven't had the need or the curiousity to use the Twister yet, the Healing potion is an invaluable tool that any serious player will want at his/her disposal. It is not an instant heal, but rather has a HoT effect, and there is a fixed duration of the HoT you can apply per chapter. I haven't depleted it or performed quantitative measure on the amount of HP it heals, but if is more than enough to save you when you are getting clobbered or need to recover before a boss fight.

The negative reviews for this item come from people complaining about the price. This is a $20 character/adventure pack. They are all $20 from ToysRUs. If you do not have a TRU near you, buy at their website if you don't like the price on Amazon. Don't rate the item 1 star because you don't like the price. This is a very good expansion with one of the best/most fun characters I've played to date, novel and fun chapter, and a healing potion. Maybe if the other reviewers had actually played the expansion, they could have given it a fair review.

We have all collectively put over 10 hours bordering 20 into this game(and have beaten it) so i feel as though i have a good perspective on all the characters, adventure packs, etc. I would definitely recommend buying this adventure pack for your Skylander family. Ghost Roaster isn't one of our favorites but i would buy this expansion(essentially thats what it is) because it gives you an extra chapter to play in the game, and the two accessories are very handy. The elixir(on the bottom right of the packaging) gives your skylanders health over a short period of time. You can remove the elixir from the portal of power before its time is up, and use the remaining portion for a later time. You get a full elixir at the beginning of each new chapter and once its run out, you're done for that chapter. The Time Turner(on the top right) slows down time for everything in the game except for you(and your teammate). It also only lasts a short amount of time and is very useful for boss fights. Of the two, i'd saw the elixir is more useful, we use it much more often. As for the bonus level, it took us about 15 min to get through and collect all of the items. For our family, we think it was well worth the $20 since we love the game. If you're a parent buying it for your child, it isn't completely necessary to complete the game...but it makes it just that much better! Your kid will be very happy with it!

The best piece of advice i can offer if you're new to the game: GET AT LEAST ONE OF EVERY CHARACTER TYPE BEFORE YOU BEGIN!!! You need certain elements to get past gates and having all the character elements is key. This includes: Wind, life, undead, water, earth, magic, fire and tech.

I've gotten Ghost Roaster, and he is an excellent Undead Skylander (plus it's fun to hear his psychotic cackle when he's in skull-mode). I had difficulty finding on the ruins map, at first, but once I played it, it was both fun and challenging. This level is one giant puzzle, and you have to switch between the real world and the "Ghost World" with these "day/night" platforms called Spectral Shifters.

Your mission is to find out why a plump, jolly pie baker is losing all his ghostly customers (since they actually enjoyed eating his pies over... well... eating brains. WHAT?! They're undead!). There is also a boss fight (of sorts), and though it may not be an epic fight, the music that comes with the battle IS (the music used for the Eruptor, Lightning Rod, and Cynder demos, among a few more).

Additionally, both the healing elixir and the time twister are handy (the Time Twister is good for characters with slow, close-range move characters, like Stump Smash, or Bash).

I mentioned in the Pirate Seas level (in a response) that beating that level gives you a mini-game; For Darklight Crypt... you get additional food for healing (here's a hint for the hip as to what kind of food it is: "Everybody loves *noun with three letters*")

Honest reviews on Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Pack - Darklight Crypt

I have played this game a lot with my son over Christmas break and can assure you that THIS IS AN AWESOME ADVENTURE PACK! We have made it through 18 of the 22 levels with these tools on board. My son is 6 and I am not an avid gamer. Ghost Roaster is eventually one of the fastest; strongest kick butt characters out there with upgrades. He is a green, glowing skull that has an evil laugh as he attacks through everything. He was invaluable in the undead world and I don't know if we could have made it through with Hex alone (she wasn't upgraded and quickly dies in the beginning). Ghost Roaster has become a pleasant surprise, he quickly became one of our strongest characters. We have 25 out of 32 total characters of which 6 aren't released yet and Ignitor is sold in the Nintendo DS starter pack with the game. The Healing Potion keeps you from dying in a boss battle which is nice because you lose the ability to meet your objectives for that level when you die. The Time Twister we hesitated to use when we first got it because I thought it would make us redo the battle (that we were currently in) from the beginning. To my pleasant surprise this is not the case at all. The Time Twister simply makes your opponents slow way down in speed while you proceed to attack at a normal speed. It's like your character is on steroids and your opponents ate too much pasta before the battle. I have to honestly say we haven't moved through the additional level of the "Darklight Crypt" yet.. I am sort of tired of the undead eerie stuff at the moment (my son doesn't like that part much). I would gladly pay $20.00 for Ghost Roaster, Time Twister, and the Healing Elixir alone. If I had to make a choice for my #1 UNDEAD character at this point it would be Ghost Roaster!

SIDE NOTE: I got the BradyGames Strategy guide in this week and can further tell you that there are a total of 4 Adventure packs that will be released. They are Pirate Seas with Terrafin (Rock element), Darklight Crypt with Ghost Roaster (Undead element), another called Dragon's Peak with Sunburn (Fire element), and Empire of Ice with Slam Bam (Water element). These characters will only be available in the adventure packs. I hope these others are as cool as Ghost Roaster.

UPDATE:

WE HAVE BOUGHT AND PLAYED THE FOUR ADVENTURE PACKS THAT HAVE BEEN RELEASED; IN MY OPINION THIS ONE WAS THE BEST!

We couldn't have made it through all the levels without Ghost Roaster, the Healing Potion, Time Twister and I think that the Darklight Crypt was the most challenging bang for the buck level! It also has the best Magic Items. Dragon's Peak would be my second choice if I had to decide..but it's a close call to Pirate Seas. Dragon's Peak is challenging because of the critical hit impact of the fire etc. along the way. The winged boot gives your characters the ability to run (not fly) extremely fast for a brief period of time and ..I am embarrassed to admit.. I just discoved that you can use the extra Magic Items that come with the Advanture Packs during the Heroic Challenges.. Pirate Seas would be my third choice mainly due to how cool Terrafin is..none of the other characters can swim underground. Pirate Seas isn't that challenging from a "fighting" aspect. There are battles..don't get me wrong..but the hardest part for us was just getting through one of the areas that contains a hat and some treasure. It has some memory card games here and there but my son in kindergarten hasn't had to repeat any of them. The Ghost Swords are pretty cool too..we have used them in many final battles and they are even handy in the new iPhone app game called "Skylanders Cloud Patrol". Empire of Ice should have been released before Christmas..the "bad guys" wear SANTA HATS??? It was pretty cool but my number one complaint was that it was just too easy and quick. My Kindergarten son completed it in less than 30 min all by himself. I like Slam Bam pretty well out of our 33 Skylanders, but I would have liked to be able to just pay $9 for him alone.

"SKYLANDERS GIANTS" WILL BE RELEASED IN OCTOBER 2012!!!!!!!!!

The current figures will still work within it. SOME of the characters from the original release will be getting a re-pose!! The re-poses will work in both the original Skylanders game and the new "Giants" version. The series 2 re-poses will work in both versions of the games too, but the series 2 versions will have additional powers within the Giants version. GHOST ROASTER IS NOT GETTING A RE-POSE! It says online that the Adventure Packs will open an additional level within the "Giants" version. There won't be any new Adventure Packs, just two Battle Packs that will have an additional PVP arena in them (I'm guessing based on the fact that the first one released has an additional arena in it). BUY IT NOW!

SKYLANDERS III IN 2013! It sounds like a lot of the "phased out" figures that weren't brought back for Skylanders Giants will come back in 2013. Ghost Roaster might be one of them.. but if you can get him now I would for the simple use of his extra level for Skylanders Giants, and the two magic items. I don't have "Eye Brawl" the new giant ...but I do have the rest available at this time and Ghost Roaster and Cynder are two of my Undead Favorites still.

For those of you, like me, that came into the Skylanders world a little late (I just started after Christmas 2012), have hope! I was very sad to see what this Adventure Pack was selling for online. I had almost convinced myself to pay the outrageous prices in order to get it, because the reviews I had read made it sound like so much fun!

However, persistence did pay off, and I can confirm that this item is NOT out of print. It's just very difficult to find, perhaps because the scalpers are buying them all up and selling them online. I went to my local Target store on MLK day a week ago (2013), and I was beside myself with excitement to see this Adventure Pack on the shelf (along with Dragon's Peak, which I picked up for my sister). It had not been there days before, so they obviously got a new shipment in, and this was in it! And it was just the normal MSRP ($19.99), same as the other Adventure Packs.

As for the game play, it's a fun level because the "twist" for this level is changing between the Ghost World and the Real World. Some bad guys are Statues in the Real World (and easy to shatter), but in Ghost World they are powerful enemies. Stone blocks are blocking your path in the Ghost World, but move in the Real World. So there's a really enjoyable puzzle-type aspect to it, where you need to take note of your surroundings and sometimes even backtrack to be able to move forward in the level.

I highly recommend this Adventure Pack, but I also recommend you try to just find it at your local stores. It may just take some time.

Upon receiving this item i plugged it into the usb and began charging. There is no indication of when its full or not, so i left it sit there for several hours as initial charge times are generally long.

When i unplugged the battery from the charge cable it immediately began leaking fluid out of the terminals where the paddle plugs in.

Do not recommend to anyone unless you want to destroy your xbox components you plug these in to.

The battery pack works great. It charges easily and lasts for a full day of play. It is easy to remove from the remote.

***NOTATION: THIS IS AN "ONLINE ONLY" GAME. That means that you must have internet, you must be connected to Trion Worlds servers, and you must have all patches required installed and up to date regularly on your console. Because this is an "Online Only game" I have to include the "server stability" by Trion Worlds Inc as part of this review, because this products functionality is BASED on the functionality of the servers from Trion Worlds and theirability to maintain them. END NOTATION***

--GAME INSTALLATION---------

-The Good: The game requires installation on your console. The game disc requires 5.1g of space. Installed games run faster and take less time on load screens. When logging into the game you are taken to a character load screen and sometimes a window with a countdown timer identifying your position in the queue and how long it will take for you to get into a server to play.

-The Bad: Trion Worlds has required "UN-installing" the game via one version of a patch for the game to function, and then required "RE-installing" the game via a separate patch for the game to function. Then done both repeatedly. This has lead to multiple failed patches, removing your ability to play the game and rendering the product you have purchased useless for hours, and even days on end depending upon a "roulette system" of obtaining a successful patch download. Trion Worlds community support for this is regularly non-productive. Contacting them on their official forums is also not productive... and normally any technical problems with the game is luck of the draw with the community having to figure everything out for itself without the help of Trion Worlds.

--STORYLINE--------------

-The Good: Starts off with a brief cut scene, and then a tutorial. The NICE thing is the cut scenes (cinematic events developed with the game engine) include your character in them. It includes what you look like, what you're wearing, and everything you have chosen as features when you develop your character in the "Character Creation" mode. The story line (without spoiling anything) is in my opinion gripping enough to keep you occupied and involved.

-The Bad: The game gives you the ability to play "some" of the story missions with friends. In order to achieve this the User Interface allows you to "group" with friends in the game and play that mission when launched together as a team by the "group leader". This function is constantly broken and constantly members of your group cannot see you, see eachother, and end up in an identical environment but in a separate world. This leads to people not being able to play mission together despite the menu having a "Join Phase" option that when selected will re-spawn your character hopefully in the same world as the player you cant see... more times than not just completely failing to function. This also fails to function in Episode Missions AND Side Missions.

--CHARACTER CREATOR---------

-You can pick from: Human Male, Human Female, Alien Male, Alien Female.

-Hair and hair color, Nose, Eyes, Facial structure, Mouth/Lips, Facial scars, Facial/Body tattoos... are all included in the character generator. The options available are enough to distinguish who you create, but are not vast enough to keep people from all picking the same "cool looking" hair style or "cool looking" tattoos. So keep in mind when creating your character that the one or two tattoos for the class your considering... alot of people may pick that too. There are four classes. Veteran, Survivalist, Machinist, and Outlaw. Picking one does not appear to have any "huge" impact on the storyline, nor does it appear to differentiate your in-game skills which develop later from a skill tree of WELL OVER 80 skills. The skills you pick can be leveled up more than once to increase their effectiveness. The skill tree does offer the ability to reset and rearrange it, although I have not done so yet.

-The Bad: A character class is relevant to nothing but the gun you start with in the game.

--WEAPONS-------

The Good:-Pistols and magnums, shotguns and sawed off shotguns, assault rifles and light machine guns, submachine guns and high magazine auto pistols, grenade launchers and rocket launchers and MORE... can all have up to 4 attachments IF you find the attachments for the weapons you like. Those attachments are: Scopes, Stocks, Magazines, and Barrels.

-Weapons also can be found or bought in the world WITH "synergy bonuses".

-Attachments go on weapons into Slots. Attachments can be found or bought in the world WITH "synergy bonuses".

-Both weapons AND attachments can be found or bought with elemental damages which apply to weapons.

The Bad: -Slots can be placed on weapons when you reach the required level. That required level changes based on Trions currentlt running hotfix or patch version. So if you have a weapon with no slots you can place slots on that weapon by paying a form of in-game money (Ark Salvage). This has become a problem, because through various updated patches the expense of placing slots on weapons has gone from more than double what it use to cost, on top of the fact that as you level up in the game, the costs to place slots goes up as well. The base stats on all weapons remain static and don't change no matter your level. The more you level, the more salvage is required to modify a weapon, the more you modify it the more it requires to BE "modified", and after achieving the max modifications of a weapon the changes made are literally and mathematically so small that they would go unnoticed if compaired to another weapon never modified at all. So the bottom line is the weapon modification system is completely a waste of time.

The WORSE: the items in this game known as "Orange Items" which would be considered as the "Most rare" are primarily obtainable by paying REAL money into a roulette reward system. Whether you are on the official forums, youtube, wherever... Trion Worlds has designed the game to clearly benefit those willing to pay real money and reward them with items in game that have "Bonus Statistics". These purchases are made with "Bits". "Bits" are bought with "Microsoft Points", "Microsoft Points" are bought with real money. These bonus statistics are so small and minute that when compared to weapons in game without those bonuses you would never know they exist. Im talking differences that are 1 tenth of a whole number. A simple example would be a gun with a firerate of 10. If you pay Trion real money you may get a gun that has a fire rate of 11.2 at most. The longer the game has been out, the more expensive Trion has made in-game costs. The higher the costs, the less you can do, the less you can do, the more inventory you have to carry, and for that they sell space via BITS so you can carry more. Its disgusting.

--GAMEPLAY--(Was fun, until Trion clearly stopped caring and got greedy).

-During the game dynamic events called "Ark Falls" transpire. Ark Falls are when pieces of major objects orbiting the planet fall to the Earth carrying with them technology that upgrades your weapons. Trion has INCREASED everything it costs in the game to "play" the game, and DECREASED the ratio at which what you need to pay in the game is obtained via their patches.... unless you buy it using real money.

-During gameplay you will regularly get kicked from Trions servers with notifications stating "Your connection to our servers has timed out".

-During gameplay you will regularly lose your ability to see your friends IN the game. The option/s in place to resolve this issue has not resolved it since launch day.

-During gameplay the current patches have devised a system by which you are forcibly stuck with an extremely poor UI and an overwhelming amount of items that are designed to clearly take up your inventory space, only providing you with an option to pay real money to buy that space via microtransactions.

-There is no ability to play the game "IF" you cannot SUCCESSFULLY achieve updating your console with the most current patches from Trion Worlds Inc. Normally a patch takes 2-3 HOURS to download (regardless of your connection speed Trion has set pre-set speeds at which your download is achievable from them). These patches, taking 2-3 hours each, transpire at minimum every 2 weeks. That's not including random server down times from server crashes, server maintenance, server resets, and randomly scheduled hot fixes for their servers that despite saying "will not interfere with your gameplay" on their main web page, disconnects everyone from their servers for up to 12 hours at a time.

This game "WAS", and Im saying "WAS" playable within the first 30 days of its launch date. But as of now, this game is regularly dysfunctional at best. I severely recommend you NOT buy this game. It was a purchase worth making when it first came out, but due to the current IP laws and how this developer has changed the functionality of this product POST-launch it is NO LONGER a game worth recommending. It saddens me when Developers take advantage of IP laws and manipulate a consumers purchase post-sale in an attempt to trap them into paying more money in order to utilize their purchase. Not only do I not recommend the game, I don't recommend the developer for any game they will ever make.

I never really played any of Trion's games, not even Rift. So i was a little on edge when buying this game, mainly because it's an MMO...on the Xbox. But i decided to buy it anyway, 'cause i'm a risk taker, and live life dangerously. In any case, let's start by categories, 'k?

Graphics:

They're okay, honestly. I hear the game isn't overly demanding on the PC, but on Xbox it looks alright. Now, we are talking about aesthetics here, the world around the character. The actual characters themselves lack emotion they're faces look stiff. And the animation in cutscenes could be better. The lip syncing is also off, not Dead Island off, but still pretty off.

Gameplay:

Some might call this game Borderlands, but in third person. That's really not too far from the truth. The game never really forces you into co-op, except for certain instances, and loot is nowhere near as common as BorderLands (and i want to stress this). Still it is fun with other people, specially in the Arkfalls.

Speaking of Arkfalls, the game has numerous events and side-quests. Some are meh, others are alright, but some events might happen too soon after one another. Arkfalls are pretty awesome though. You have two kinds: minor and mayor, the former which is usually a boss or the like.

The Gunplay, in my opinion, could be tighter. It feels like Mass Effect shooting and sense loot drops isn't too common, you might wanna customize your gun, which you can, but i'd still prefer more loot.

You have skills that you get from your EGO (which is like Cortana, but in the molecular level). You essentially have four "main" skills: Decoy, Stealth, overcharge, and blur. You can increase these skills, and i suggest you pick wisely (STEALTH IS AWESOME)

The game is also not very grind-y

Sound:

Nothing really stands out, the music is very ambient and kicks during battle. The Voice acting is okay.

Story:

Aliens come, humans don't like it, they fight, they reach a stale-mate, they live together, but the world is now very post-apocalyptic. It's the greatest story ever told sense The Pit and the Pendulum.

Verdict:

This game is a risk, and i went in expecting nothing. I got out pleasantly surprised. To most, this game will range in the 7-8 out of ten. And i concur, but this game is an mmo, it demands 10 gigs out of you, and it follows a TV show. So, basically, it'll probably have a lot of updates, probably. So far, i don't really know how the whole tv thing is going to affect the game and vise versa. If you feel like waiting and seeing how the game does, i don't blame you, but if you wanna go in now, i really don't see why not

Best Deals for Defiance - Xbox 360

*UPDATE 04/12/13* I have to hand it to Trion, the company responsible for making this game. I received an email yesterday from them stating right at the top, "Let's face it, there were problems with Defiance at launch" mostly referring to the server issues noted in so many other reviews of this game. I'm guessing they greatly underestimated the demand for an MMO on xbox360, which was the platform that suffered the most from servers going down. I have a lot of respect for their admission of the problems and their commitment to fixing the issues for all their fans, on every platform. There were NO server issues I've noticed in a couple days now, and I figured they'd get it together soon. They also included some in-game gifts for my character as a way of saying "thank you for being patient" which was a very nice touch. More companies should take note of when to issue an apology and follow Trion's example.

*Original review*

This is the first MMO I have really gotten into, I've never had a PC worthy of gaming so I stick to my 360. This review is only for the 360, not for any other platform.

There is a lot to like about Defiance, very interesting to see the tie in w/the TV show and how that plays out. I like the story, like the characters and love the environments in-game. I'm not even going to complain about the server issues, (sigh) or needing 10 gigs of storage as a requirement to play. What I will complain about are the little things that really should have been fixed before launch.

The first thing I noticed is the instruction book included with the game. It's noticeably short on any usable info whatsoever, the worst most uninformative instruction book I've ever seen. You get a controller map for what buttons do what, and that's it. For a game so detailed, we deserve more, esp. since you don't get a lot of explanation in-game about certain things such as weapon customization or in-game currency. It's been a little confusing as to which weapons can be upgraded while others seemingly cannot. (I.E., I have an assault rifle, have a magazine attachment for assault rifles, yet cannot upgrade said rifle. hmmmm)

Vehicle physics are poor, steering is tough and overall should be a lot easier to drive, esp. since the world is SO large you really need to drive more often than not.

my biggest complaint really isn't with the game, but the discourtesy of other players you encounter in your travels. Yeah, I know the idea is that it's an open world with all manner of interactions from all types of personalities, but I feel that the game could have been made better by having fewer interactions with random people coming along to "help" with your quest or side mission. The worst are the people who get in their cars and drive around at "arkfalls" (mass gatherings to take on a boss-monster) and run over the bad guys you're trying to shoot. too often I find myself losing interest in a mission due to there being so many people around, I feel like I can't make a meaningful contribution. what fun is it really to take an enemy's health down to almost zero, only to have some random guy get the kill with one shot after you did all the work? they could have limited the number of players at arkfalls, and opened another once the player limit was reached. also, put up obstacles to discourage the people from driving cars around the arkfalls, that really ruins the experience for many players. if you want to plow your car through crowds, go play grand theft auto. Trion should've taken into account that you cant count on others to play as intended and made the game more rewarding of an experience for those that don't have a huge party or clan. So often I find myself avoiding others so I can have more fun, and accomplish more on my own.

What saves this game ultimately is the core gameplay itself. I really enjoy the world created here, it's a lot of fun sniping bad guys, plenty of guns, plenty of character options, etc. You can make this game feel very personalized and I love that. There is great opportunity to play YOUR way...provided some random DBag doesn't come along and complete your mission for you or spin donuts at the arkfall. It's a solid 3-star game for me with 5-star potential. Hopefully after more time, players will be spread out over the map a bit more, and not be so concentrated in one area. It's good enough to stick with it for a while though, and could really develop into a serious addiction. It's already cut into my HALO playing time quite deeply. If you're on the fence and unsure, bottom line for me is that I don't regret this purchase despite my complaints. 4-star graphics, 5 stars for great music WITH the option to turn it off (I'm lookin at YOU HALO!!!)

and 5 stars for gameplay. 2 stars for explanation of in-game details, 2 stars for overcrowding at arkfalls.

Honest reviews on Defiance - Xbox 360

Well Xbox Live won't let me sign in at the moment, so I guess I'll write one of these real quick. I'm going to try not to go too in depth with this review, just giving my impression of the things that keep bringing me online and a few things that could be better.

Trion got a lot of game elements right with this one. Here are a few I appreciate:

1) The arkfall events and coop missions are fun! I couldn't get into Rift, but I loved the idea of world events as implemented in that game. Defiance is a further refinement of this idea, these events are awesome in a third person shooter. If you've played instances in WoW (or the equivalent elsewhere), they're called co-op maps in Defiance you'll have roles to fill such as managing adds and healing, but I've generally seen people take on these roles organically as the mission progresses, since it is so easy to switch between guns and abilities.

2) Exploration and mini game participation is rewarded by completing Pursuits (achievements basically), you'll gain levels, titles, clothes, vehicles, etc. Its a nice change of pace after questing to be able to race in a time trial, do a scenario (shoot chickens with a pistol before the farmers scoop them up, kite a hundred mutants while blasting them with a shotgun, take on waves of aliens with a practically unlimited ammo machine gun, etc. etc.), and pick up sound recorded intel from exploring that reveals a little bit more about characters and the Defiance world in general.

3) Combat and Customizations galore... Turn on your damage numbers in the settings and take on waves of monsters or complete missions with your friends and compare your playstyle's effectiveness with the dmg/heal/kill/revive/death score at the end. With the combination of abilities, perks, guns, and gun mods there is a lot of experimenting to do.

Now a few things that could be better:

1) Inventory space blah! Yeah you'll gain inventory space as you progress, but starting off you're going to get mad at your bags. I ended up buying extra inventory space through a micro transaction. I got frustrated enough with a non critical game element that I paid more real cash for the convenience of not dealing with it... yes, they got me.

2) PvP meh... While they have worked out a lot of the issues from early on, we are still missing Freight Yard. It was similar to a Battlefield conquest game, where you capture control points on the map and have access to group vehicles complete with driver, gunner, and rocket seating a great map, but it hasn't been available since the first or second day. There is no "real" open world pvp. Sure there is the Shadow War where players can opt in for a scheduled battle, but its not the same as having dedicated factions and always having to watch your back while questing.

3) Honorary shout-out to your standard MMO launch problems.

Now that I can log into Xbox Live, its time to play. I'll keep you updated.

(Played on 360 for several hours)

The idea is great and the gameplay is okay... That's where it stops unfortunately. For those of you that have played an MMO or a game such as Diablo or Borderlands you understand that story, character development, and loot are some of the biggest driving motivations to play a game. All of these are either lacking or completely gone.

Story? Ummm... Well go here and press "X" then kill a few waves, that sums up over 95% of the missions. I simply don't care about the story because there really isn't one and the plot holes are massive.

The character development is also garbage really. Most of the skills are useless and hardly ever used.

There is no difference between a gun you get at lvl 10 versus one you get at lvl 250. Yep, that's right... Now if you are very lucky you might get a rare drop (don't get excited) because the bonuses it adds are very minor, such as -10% grenade respawn when reloading a completely gun.

The concept is great but the execution is lacking. This game needed another year of development to fix bugs, add depth, and make a story worth playing. I would give this a 2.5/5 but that is not possible so I will be generous and round up.
