I first experienced this game by trying the demo. After that I was sold. The NFS games have had their ups and downs over the years. The racing storyline seems to change on a yearly basis keeping the concept fresh. With Carbon you are a brash racer who is coming back to his old haunts. Now it's up to you to race others in non stop action. I was in awe playing this game realizing how wonderful the graphics were. They really bring the environments alive as you are able to see how long they spent creating these wonderful environments. The excitement that comes from this game is when you begin to realize that your in a nonstop world with the ability to find races anywhere in the city. There are numerous territories that are controlled by different racers and it's up to you to challenge those racers for the territory. Being succesful takes many steps as you have to compete in several races before you can challenge the leader of each racing group. That is where you get to have a pulse pounding race in the canyons. Avoiding hair raising turns that can have you swerving off a cliff. In this game you will experience the tried and true formula of the pursuit where the police will be on your tail and you can gain a wanted status. What's new to this game is the teammate formula where you are able to use the team mate to take out an opponent. The system works well for the most part and adds a great new addition into the NFS series. I would have to say overall this has been one of my favorite NFS games. If you enjoy great arcade racing give Carbon a try. You won't regret it.

Gameplay: 8.4

Every car handles differently, every course is linked together in one massive world, and the controls will take you back to the days of arcade racers like Daytona USA. (Actual arcade racers the ones with $5,000 cabinets all arcade owners dreaded purchasing.) The customization features are a little shallow, and the game is a little easy. Okay, a lot easy. But you'll love the ride while it lasts, and you're going to want to play through this racer more than once.

Graphics: 8

The cars look amazing. Every part of them is packed with realistic detail. Even the interiors are noticeably accurate. The cars reflect the city lights quite beautifully, and will do so differently depending on the type of finish that's been applied (chrome, matte, etc.).

Carbon's environments aren't nearly as memorable. The backgrounds aren't that far beyond what was possible with the old Xbox. Also, the cars, as gorgeous as they are, cannot be damaged. They can crash repeatedly, and abolish generic police vehicles. But your vehicles which are from licensed manufacturers are as protected as those in Gran Turismo, save for a few scratches every now and then (that magically disappear after every race).

I know that this is what most, not all, automakers want. But if some manufacturers are on board and others are not, maybe it's the supportive companies you should be focusing on to give the gamer the most intense experience possible.

Sound: 7.9

Hurray for the return of full-motion video! First you get to see the actors, who look toward the camera when talking to the player's character as if you were actually in the story. The actors also appear in polygon form, with extreme realism to boot. Their polygon expressions are a little better than their real expressions, mainly due to the real actors' lack of believability.

The voices they're better than most, but have a hint of "video game syndrome." It looks like a bunch of actors were hired to be in a video game. It doesn't look or sound like they were hired to be in a professionally written story. Which isn't too surprising. Carbon's characters only have one theme: "take my city and I'll hate you forever" (an exaggerated but truthful interpretation).

Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Most Career mode races can be won on the first try. The external challenge mode provides additional races to conquer, but they're not enough to boost this game's difficulty.

Concept: 7.5

It's Need For Speed all over again. I'm not about to be one of those crazy people who say the series needs an overhaul to be great again. It doesn't. I love the direction the developers have taken. That said, it's not an original direction, just one of polish. But this series is meant to be a certain way. To make it original again would likely eliminate all the things we love.

Multiplayer: 8

Four for co-op; eight for multiplayer via Xbox Live. Some of the Career mode races are playable online as well for added challenges.

Overall: 8.2

A throwback to the good old, worry-free days of arcade racing. This is the kind of game you'll play after seeing The Fast and the Furious (or any other street racing flick). You might hate that series you might think the third Furious is the worst movie ever made. But mark my words, if you're flipping through and it's on TV, you will drop the remote, grab your 360 controller, and play this game.

I've been playing this game since I got it for Christmas. Normally, I'm more of a fan of shooting games but I really like this one. The graphics are very nice and the game is simply enjoyable. It is fun playing with a buddy on split screen but I do not have X-Box Live and therefore can't comment on the online aspect. I really enjoy the amount of customizing you can do to the cars, which includes nitrous, blowers, turbos, paint, graphics, suspension, etc, etc. One word of advice, when you start out in Career Mode go with something other than the Camaro because I was only able to win a limited number of races with it. It just handles too slopy. I went back to the Maza RX8 and have had much success with it. I'll go back to the muscle cars later because I'm a big fan of them.

Honest reviews on Need for Speed Carbon - Xbox 360

While so many people are more interested in the newer systems that are sold out, Playstation 3, and the Nintendo Wii, there is still a lot of action for Xbox 360 gamers, and holiday shoppers. That has also been said well with the Need For Speed franchise too. Since. they've started to thrive going back to the Underground series, many gamers have always wanted more. Last year, the Most Wanted edition of Need For Speed took gamers by surprise, by delivering the thrills of the race, with the pursuits of cops by the chase. Now, a new chapter has risen for Xbox 360 owners, but can it definitely deliver like before?

Need For Speed Carbon for the Xbox 360, tackles the fast and the furious as you battle your way to tackle your way through street racers and crew gang members, inorder to conquer the city with your crew. In the game you have many great and gripping tracks too from classics like the circuits, sprints, and the return of the drift race tracks from the Underground 2 era. You can also unlock great cars like the Didge Viper, exoticas like the McLaren, and muscles cars that have classic style and classic appeal. The graphics for the game have really shined and are truly polished with each control of the car. The control also brings ut the best with each car, and each bit of the chase. Sadly, though there are a couple of disadvantages to the game. One of them is the thrill of the chase against the police. It was more challenging back in Most Wanted, and there was more to challenge your cars with. Another disadvantage is that if you've played earlier versions of Need For Speed, you might have a too easy time beating the underground racers Darius and his crew.

All in all, I was mostly satisfied with Need For Speed Carbon, but I was just expecting a bit more excitement with each thrilling race. Nevertheless, I really recommend this as a must buy for Xbox 360 owners of all kinds, especially if you don't want to get yourself swept in the dust.

Finally the long awaited Dark Sector has hit the shelves and sadly it just came short of meeting HALF of its expectations. Visually the game is phenomenal but unfortunately there's only so much scenery can do for the entertainment value of a game. The story is very cliché and lacks the ability to really get you involved and suck you in; for the most part Hayden (who you play as) comes off as a very one-dimensional character with your cliché "past that haunts him" so nothing new on that front. As far as game play goes, the movements are extremely stiff which makes aiming a really big pain especially when the enemy AI is hardly existent yet so hard to eliminate. The glaive; honestly, it's awesome the first few times you kill with it but sooner rather than later you'll get sick of it and it just becomes annoying to maneuver and even more annoying when you try to run up to an enemy to hit them with it and for some odd reason it does NOTHING the first 2 tries so you get hit THEN it works.

So overall I'm sad to say this game was a HUGE let down for me because I, like a lot of you I'm sure, have been anticipating this game since back when Xbox 360 was still labeled Xbox 2. Definitely worth a glimpse but I don't think it quite deserves it's spot on your shelve next to those other long awaited titles that actually delivered. Rent don't buy.

In short, Dark Sector looks like Gears Of War, the same art direction, there's even a simular roadie-run. But that's where the comparison ends.

Dark Sector for me was very fun, but the game didn't start out that way,it grew on me ,then I found myself having a strong desire to replay it again on the hardest setting after I intially beat the game. At first I didn't like the game but I stuck with it and really thought it's a very good game.

Some of the boss battles at first will leave you scratching your head as what to do,but once I figured out there weak spots ,it was easy as gravy.

I actually like not being 'held by the hand' so to speak ,having the game give me hints on killing a boss.

For the most part you gotta figure it out without 'glowing parts' as hints on the bosses body, with exception the last boss.

I actually loved my second playthrough on the hardest setting ,it was pure gamer bliss.

One thing I highly, highly recommend is getting used to the 'Glaive' ,it will be by far your fav weapon in the game.

You unlock the Glaive's various abilities as you progress into the game.

I didn't find the Glaive hard to control at all,and it's really the hilight of the game.

Overall a very satisfying enjoyable game, with epic boss battles, and decent Gears Of War like scenery,Dark Sector is a solid game.

If you so choose you can use primarily use ballistic weapons ,all of which are upgradeable at various black markets you'll find in the sewers.

I like the fact that you can duel wield ,have a Gliave in one hand and a micro-machine gun in the other. I found myself using assault rifles for distance enemies ,because the Glaive does have limited range.

Think of the Glaive as a boomerang on steroids ,only it has very sharp blades. By far my fav weapon in the game.

A must play game for any gamer. PEACE

This game is the definition of underrated. It's amazing how some bad reviews can make or break a game and in this game's case, its the latter. This game has been full of bad press, most notably because it "copies" Gears of War's cover/combat system. Make no mistake, this game is very, very similar to Gears... However, it changes so much to make its own unique experience that in my opinion, is even more fun the Gears. In the same way Uncharted Drakes Fortune(another Gears "clone") changed things up with platforming and combos... This game has a throwing weapon called the glaive and brutal finishing moves that never disappoint and never get old.

The glaive is given to you in the second level and is probably your most devastating weapon. It can be thrown powerful enough to decapitate, dismember and maim enemies. You can also control it with pinpoint precision, slowing time down to really hit those dismember points. The only word to describe this is AWESOME. Once you get the hang of using the glaive in combination with your pistol or shotgun... its like gory poetry in motion.

Also, like Gears 2... This game has finishing moves when your close to your enemy. They vary between enemy and what side you attack from... But let me tell you that they are simply described as AMAZING. The game sorta slows down ala the Matrix while you shred the enemies up with the glaive in multiple ways. Its epic, seriously.

But what completely separates this game from the pack is the way you change(you're infected with some "disease") over time, allowing you new abilities and way to annihilate your enemies. Most notably is the energy pulse, which for a short time, will deflect all bullets/projectiles/etc, shot at you. And even better, the "Shift" which allows you to become invisible for a short period of time, allowing you to get the drop on your enemies and go for those finishing moves! Not only that... throughout the game, you collect upgrades. Upgrades which can be applied to your weapons you buy and sell which also changes the game dramatically. It's great because... you can play the game differently in so many ways and always change it up. Makes for great re-playability.

Like I said before... if you like Gears and other 3rd person shooters... You will absolutely love this game. The graphics are top notch and the gameplay is fluid and slick. Do yourself a favor and buy it... Especially now, seeing as its under $10 brand new!!! I'm sad that this game fell upon deaf ears and never really got the accolades it deserves. But I'm hopeful it will become a cult classic and one day will receive a sequel... cause it most certainly deserves one!

Honest reviews on Dark Sector - Xbox 360

Put simply, Dark Sector is a fun game. The game has unique puzzles that incorporate the various abilities of the glaive, this unique weapon that your character "Hayden" uses throughout the game. The glaive eventually gains an ability called "aftertouch", which allows you to steer the glaive toward your enemies or objectives by taking on the third-person view of the glaive itself -you travel along with it, in slow-motion, until it hits its intended target...and better yet, you get to see the results up-close.

The game has really smooth gameplay, and I did not encounter any bugs, defects, or poor framerate issues. The voice-acting is superb, and the sound on this game rates as "one of the best" I have ever encountered. The controls are well laid out, and as Hayden obtains more and more abilities as the game progresses, the controls never become overwhelming or confusing.

The weapon upgrade system in this game is somewhat deficient. Once an upgrade is applied to a weapon, there appears to be no way to remove it. The "blackmarket" upgrade sites are few and far between, and once you swap out a weapon from your locker, you're stuck with whatever you have, until you either backtrack or get to the next location.

The environments in the game are a mixed bag. Ultimately, this game plays a lot like Resident Evil 4, in terms of the controls and the underlying game engine. At times, the levels feel like a mix of Condemned, Resident Evil 4, Tomb Raider, and sometimes even Bioshock. Some of the levels, especially the later ones, look much better than others, a sign that development may have gone off in several different directions until they brought the final game together.

The game has a good save system, so you won't find yourself repeating sections tirelessly.

The AI is not advanced. At times, it seems all the enemies just rush you. Some of the enemies have special abilities that make them more difficult to defeat. However, the enemies come at you in very predictable waves. By the time you're 50% through the game, you can predict the patterns. Melee combat is weak.

There's a loosely woven story that keeps the game moving along. The cut-scenes are well-done. What doesn't make sense, at times, are the number of bosses that appear in the game, which seem totally unrelated to anything that is going on from Hayden's viewpoint. Most of the bosses are extremely time-consuming to figure out -they are puzzles themselves. There are no health meters on the bosses, so you never know if what you're doing is actually working.

From a replay-value perspective, you may be compelled to play the game at least twice, since completing the single-player campaign unlocks the "brutal" difficulty, worth an achievement. There are a few achievements dedicated to online play, which this game supports. However, the online population for this game has been very small.

This game has probably been overlooked by many gamers. The environments, bosses, and gameplay may seem dated, but the glaive and its unique abilities make the game rewarding and fun. I'm glad I picked it up.

if you remember back even before the 360 launched, this was actually the very first next gen game announced. it was originally intended to be a launch title. 2 and a half years later we finally get the game. and believe me, it was worth the wait.

the cover system is very reminiscent of Gears of War with 3rd person shooter controls very similar to the previously mentioned GoW and Resident Evil 4. masterfully combine those shooter elements with upgradable supernatural abilities including a razor sharp disk that can decapitate enemies in a single throw. it can also be combined with different elements including electricity.

there is a very interesting story behind your character and the world around you. the planet is in such a dark and desolate state. how did the world come to this point? who or what are you? what role will you play in the events about to unfold? play to find out.

the graphics are stunning even on a SDTV. textures and lighting equal to any other AAA title on the system(CoD4/Bioshock). Animations run very smoothly with great effects to compliment it all. the sight of your electified blade is priceless.

there is online play, but i cant comment on that since i havent played that part yet. the single player alone is well worth the price though. mainly recommended to hardcore action/shooter fans.

I got this headset to replace a cheap Plantronics Gamecom headset that broke because it was made of cheap plastic. Since it works for PC also, and it's $30 cheaper than the regular ones, I bought the PS3-labeled ones.

The first thing to say about these are that they are VERY comfortable. Just as I expected. With a cheap $10 headset, your ears will hurt, but with these, you get comfort. There is no need for resizing as there is a retractable strap that "conforms" to your head.

As for sound quality, also very stellar. Definitely better than the iPod earbuds I was using as a backup after my old headset broke, haha. Music sounds fantastic, I get a crisp sound even when blaring metal at maximum volume. (Probably not good for my ears... hmm...) For games it's a definite upgrade. A game like BF3 sounds very phenomenal.

The mic is retractable and bendable, doesn't get in the way. For the sound quality, I'd say "decent." It sounds good when actively I'm talking but it does pick up background noise. It DOES pick up much less background noise then my old headset, but there's only so much you can cancel out without a little fuzzy thing on the end. I just took the fuzzy thing from my 360 mic and it fits fine on that, works like a charm. But, most games use push-to-talk anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Also, the headset comes with an RCA audio converter... thing... should you choose to use it for your console. Also a 2.5mm cord to use for 360, and a USB in-line volume control.

Now, to talk about my main problem with the headset the cord length. It is rather short, and I have to plug it into the front panel of my computer instead of the back. Even then, I don't have freedom to move in my seat I can barely tilt my head right. Now, you CAN use the included USB in-line cord (which is used for the consoles, I'm assuming). Plug in the 3.5mm jacks into it, then the USB into the computer. It's frickin' long, so I can plug it into the back of the computer and be comfortable. One thing, though, audio coming into and out of it while using the in-line sounds horrible. There is a constant static-y buzz and it makes the mic sound like trash. So, I'm stuck with the real short cord. I angled my monitor and scooted my chair over a bit, and it's okay, but... meh. I was thinking about moving my tower, but, seems like a huge hassle for one headset, right?

It sucks because the one thing I really liked about the Plantronics Gamecom was the in-line volume control, and how long the cord was.

So, overall, fantastic sound quality and comfort, but short cable.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program My gaming world just improved tremendously. I absolutely love this gaming headset. I had no idea what I was missing until I started using it. I use it for the PS3 and the sound effects are incredible.

I play multiplayer shooting games online and this headset helps out immensely. I can hear people when they are close to me. I can hear people climbing ladders or opening doors from quite a far distance. Grenades and gunfire sound so realistic.

I normally just use an ordinary (one-ear) Bluetooth headset and I've never really had a problem with it but switching to this was absolutely worth it. It makes a world of difference. People sound much clearer to me and people tell me I sound really good as well.

I love the fact that you can manually adjust the game and voice volumes separately. This is a very useful feature and the mute button is handy as well. I'm so glad that a mic is built into the headset as well and with it being retractable, that's a nice feature as well. The headset itself is pretty comfortable as well. I would've liked a bit of adjust-ability to make it a bit looser but even without that it's still manageable for several hours at a time.

The only feature that hasn't done anything for me is the "LiveMix". I've tried all 4 setting and I don't hear a difference. There are supposed to be 4 different options: Off, Low which reduces the game sound by 5db when your teammates are talking, Medium which reduce the game sound by 15db and High which reduces the games sound by 25db. This technology is supposed to help you control how much of the game sound you want to hear balanced over the voice communication. I just don't hear any difference but I'm perfectly happy with any setting since I'm able to adjust the voice and game sounds as I see fit.

Of course some people would prefer a wireless headset but the cord is plenty long enough for me. My PS3 sits on one wall and I can set on the opposite side of the room and still have plenty of room. Not having to charge a headset is a plus for me because most of my Bluetooth headsets would need recharged before I was done for the night. I no longer have that problem.

I would highly recommend this gaming headset.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Having used my reliable Sony MDR-V600s for years and years, I was somewhat reluctant to try anything else. Having tried the Siberia v2 now for every game from Call of Duty to Dead Space, I have to say my Sony headphones no longer cut it.

The Siberia's best feature is a built-in microphone. This microphone made my voice sound a lot clearer and sharper when using voice chat or playing voice-commanded games such as EndWar. It worked far better than the bluetooth headset I was using. Better yet is the ability to position the microphone away from your mouth if necessary. Being retractable was another plus. One less thing to keep track of.

These headphones offer separate volume controls for both the game and the voice chat, so it is easy to balance the two in order to hear both. Fortunately the Siberia does not lack for sound quality. Explosions and other deep bass effects are conveyed without drowning out other sounds. The treble is crisp without being too sharp. This is a welcome effect when playing first-person shooters, where there is often a concentration of both.

Overall, I was really impressed with the comfort and quality of the Siberia v2. Offering both a quality microphone and excellent sound reproduction has made these headphones a must have whenever I play.

I purchased the Pittsburgh Steeler Skinit for my sons new xbox controller. I purchased the Skinit during the Christmas holiday. The Skinit arrived with no delays. It was very easy to apply. It has been six months since the purchase and there are no signs of wear or peeling off. This is a good sign given the wear and tear my sons put on toys. I would recommend this Skinit product for its durability and value (more economical than buying a xbox controller with a team logo).

Here's the premise you're this little guy with a net and a light sabre running around trying to capture these monkeys. The monkeys wear different colored pants, and have little sirens on their heads. The pants tell you how tough they are to catch, and the sirens tell you if they've caught on to the fact that you're trying to capture them.

In addition to the trusty tools I mentioned above, you get a whole slew of other gadgets you can use to capture the monkeys, including an r/c car, slingshot and monkey radar. Unfortunately, the monkeys are also armed with everything from grenades to machine guns to canons.

In addition to being hilarious (the commercials for the game were great, if you got a chance to seem them on TV), the joy of the game is using the analog controllers to move and manipulate gadgets.

The game was the perfect difficulty, not too hard as I had suspected it would be. I still haven't completely finished, and look forward to hours more fun netting those pesky little chimps!

I got to admit, I know the game is aimed more towards kids but I'm 35 and I had a blast with this game. I never even heard of the game til it was shown to me in someones' collection. Being bored one day, I put it in the Playstation to check it out and, lo and behold, I played that game til early the next morning. The object of the game is to catch all the monkeys lose in each level. Trust me, it isn't as easy as you might think. It takes some smarts to get them lil critters. Armed with several different gadgets, you're a one-man monkey catching machine. I know it might seem like a silly game to you but it's one of the most fun games I've played in a long while. You definitely owe it to yourself to see what it's all about.

Maybe the product has changed since it last got reviewed by the May 2006 reviewer, but mine came with the Toslink adapter. Not sure what to do with it though, didn't need it. The monster cable plugged right into the stock XBOX 360 adapter. The Toslink adapter that is included is probably required if you bought the other Monster XBOX 360 Component cable set. Not sure.

Anyway, if you want to plug a digital cable into the stock xbox 360 adapter and into a music system, this'll probably do the trick.

The price is great too. A regular 4' fibre optic cable is retailing for $30.

After I received this product I was a little surprised to see how this cable was packaged. The way that the cable is placed in its packaging caused a kink in the cable. This is a little bit of a concern for a fiber optic cable since light needs to travel on a straight path and any kinks in the cable can affect sound quality. Monster Cable should know this better than most and Im surprised their quality control hasnt caught or corrected the packaging faux paus (sp?). I was eventually able to straighten the cable after repeated attempts of bending the cable in the opposite direction. But this is not a good idea either as it may cause further problems for some people if theyre not careful enough. Anyway, after I straightened it out and plugged it in, it seemed to work fine. Overall, the quality of the cable is good, it was just irritating to see a kink in a fiber optic cable after unpackaging it.

I bought the Monster component cable to replace the stock cable that came with the 360. The stock cable has a toslink out on the cable. The Monster brand has a proprietary connection instead of a toslink(1/8th mini jack). So if you want digital audio(and you do if you sprung for the Monster component cable), you are REQUIRED you to buy their optical cable in order to get the mini jack to toslink convertor.

Needless to say, that is low, and yet typical of the overrated/overpriced Monster brand. Since these are the only high end A/V cables for the 360, and do make a difference, it's worth it, but beware of this.

Honest reviews on Xbox 360 Monster GameLink Fiber Optic Cable

As the description says, a fiber optic cable is the only way to get the surround sound out of your 360. This is true not only for the games, but also for DVD playback. With this cable, my 360 has not only replaced my original XBox, but my DVD player as well. If you have a receiver that has a DTS decoder in it, you can play your DTS movies through the 360. I tested "The 5th Element" on the DTS track, and it sounded crystal clear, as did "Call of Duty 2." The cable is THX certified which ensures the best quality sound you can get on the market. If you want to use the speakers on your TV, fine. If you want the full 360 experience, get this cable and hook it up to your surround sound. You will not be sorry.

This is a required purchase if you bought the Monster Cable VGA cable or component cable for the 360 and you want digital audio. They have a custom jack on the side of their component or VGA cable that requires an adapter unlike the Microsoft ones that have a standard Toslink jack. Buying their optical cable is only way to buy the adapter. Fortunately the prices are reasonable and for the price of a standard cable you get the adapter jack for free. Basically its a way for them to make more money off of you because there really is not a necessity for this. Its rumored that the older adapter that comes with Toslink cable for the original Xbox also works with this jack.

This controller is awesome! A very unique controller for people who want to stand out! There's no losing or confusing this bad boy as the bright red radiation symbol is plastered across the face plate. Not shown in detail is the carbon-fiber-esc print on the black areas, giving it just the perfect subtlety.

In the past I had purchased the limited edition red controller, and had to return it because the triggers would squeak, very annoying, and not normal for a brand new controller. I was hesitant at first, fearing that this one would have the same problem, but it doesn't!! No annoying squeak = Happy gamer. Hope this helps someone, Enjoy!

This controller runs a little cheaper than the standard microsoft Xbox 360 controllers with the play and charge kits. I wasn't really a fan of the design on the controller, but for the price, I was willing to overlook the design, especially since this was bought as an extra for other people to use when they come over to play! Since this controller is made by Microsoft, you really do know what to expect, and your expectations are met! Other than the design that I wasn't a fan of, this product is great!

I, along with many others, was ultimately kind of disappointed with the original GTA IV. The removal of the staple elements of the GTA franchise was not good; the side service missions such as paramedic/fire/taxi, the wee remote control vehicles, the crazy cars along with the mini tracks for go karting, triple stunt points gone, and so on... and of course the loss of the planes. Heck even give me back the dodo R*! It was a big surprise to see all that gone and not a pleasant one. But when playing GTA IV you kind of felt that they had more planned for Liberty City in the future. Maybe that golfing range might be able to be used, that skateboard park might come into play and perhaps we'll get to ride on the ferris wheel too at some point.

So with the release of TLOD and TBOGT we're getting somewhere. Now for full disclosure I played The Ballad of Gay Tony through first even though it's episode two, primarily because I wanted to base jump! And in TBOGT I can see Rockstar finally giving us back some of what they took away. You can indeed now play golf in that floating driving range, you can base jump off specific buildings as a challenge or indeed just buy a parachute and jump off anything you want. Tanks are back too! Rockstar are slowly making LC a more fun sandbox and I hope that continues with the release of more episodes. With regards to these two episodes, well you can't go wrong. Both are typical GTA fare with varied missions and great story lines. I won't go into the plots of each do I need to? There's some nice cross-over moments in the stories though that will make you smile!

With TBOGT you have specific optional targets to do in each mission such as a time limit or how much damage you take. The nice thing about the way this works are the new very extensive mission checkpoints, something massively lacking from GTA IV. But there's a penalty for using a checkpoint if you use a reload then your mission objectives aren't saved. You can still complete the mission and continue with the story but there's an actual incentive to replay each one and do better each time. It's a great game mechanic that satisfies both players who prefer to blast through the game and those who wish to fine tune each play-through. Nice.

It also seems that LC's code and graphics were fine-tuned somewhat because there's considerably less little glitches and popups in TBOGT over TLOD and the original. But do install the game to the HD if you buy the disc version regardless of which episode you play.

All in all very satisfied that I got my money's worth here. I'm now playing through TLOD although I still have some side mission (drug wars) to complete in TBOGT. It took me 18 hours to complete the second episode and I expect about the same for TLOD. So for about a dollar an hour entertainment this hits the mark. If you felt, as I did, that GTA IV was a step in the wrong direction for GTA then I recommend this compilation; GTA is heading back to its roots.

R* should also be commended for not allowing folks to play the episodes without the need for the original GTA disc if you buy the disc version (you'll need the original if you DL the episodes from XBL). Helpful for those of us who put GTA IV on ebay shortly after completing it!

It's a GTA game...what more could you need to know?

This game is a big treat and very welcome to those who don't take full advantage of XBox live, and it continues the tradition of making 'ported' and 'download only' games eventually available on the console, and at a reduced price. (Still no word on a console version of Chinatown Wars, though.)

These 'spinoff' games are typically shorter than the main game, the missions tend to be easier, and the focus is on more immediate fun. You don't have to unlock any parts of the city (everything is instantly available), and the missions are often focused on shooting up rival gangs and causing havoc, presumably to reduce frustration. The two games here are very different in tone, but make no mistake, GTA-esque action abounds. The stories are also interwoven with each other and with the original GTA IV story, meaning Niko and Roman Belic appear as side characters, in addition to Brucie and other Liberty City miscreants.

The weapons may be the biggest improvement---we get a crop of new and very improved weapons that will ensure you spend that many more hours blowing up things real good. There's an automatic pistol, a couple of ridiculous shotguns (an auto shotgun and then some kind of combat shotgun with explosive shotguns that feels like an earthquake when it strikes something), a M-60 or SAW-esque machine gun (similar to Ghost Recon), and even sticky bombs, which go a long way towards terrorizing Liberty City. Just rampaging with these new toys alone will provide plenty of replay value. Some new vehicles appear, including some very fast new sports cars, an AMC Gremlin-lookalike, an attack helicopter, and best of all...an APC / SWAT (or NOOSE) tank.

Typically, there are new features and side missions. I loved the gang war aspect of LaD and the similar drug war missions in TBoGT. Too bad they haven't brought back the empire building element from Vice City Stories. Oddly, you can't do vigilante missions this time around (nor taxi, or fire, or ambulance, etc). Very surprised they didn't mess around with vehicle modification, either...the whole biker gang/chopper angle was ripe for it (or maybe the intentionally did not want to overlap with the Orange County Chopper obsessions). TLaTt is the grungier and darker story, concerning an outlaw biker gang. You play Jonny, a gang member caught between the recently released gang leader, rival factions, the mob, and the usual insanity. TBoGT is decidedly less somber and features more ridiculous missions. You play Luis, a bouncer in some of the biggest clubs in the city. It inserts more of the earlier GTA humor into the proceedings. The club angle is also fun as the protagonist can do shots, dance, and brawl...or play bouncer, instead. There's also a cage fighting bit in TBoGT where you can hone your melee skills and earn a few extra bucks.

As for the audio, we get the same stations as GTA IV, though with a couple of changes (the hardcore station is now death and black metal and blares constantly throughout TLatD, and The Journey changes in name only), but with all new songs. Many of the commercials are the same, but the talk shows are all new. Perhaps best of all is a belated take-off on the Howard Stern show called 'The Martin Serious Show' that pointedly rips the shock-jock by mocking the cynicism and 'funniness' of 'the show'. There's also new material on the TV, highlighting just how much work goes into these games.

Admittedly, while GTA IV was amazing in some regards, it was also a step back in others. I still think the most 'packed' GTA game was San Andreas, in terms of the ridiculous amount of things you could do---missions, skills, side missions, and the incredible size of the playable game space (essentially three cities in one game). To really pick on IV...what is up with the cheats? The least amount of cheats of any GTA game, by far. No flying cars...no ridiculous outfits for everyone else, no gang wars, no armed civilians, no airplanes!

But let's give the game its due. It's still GTA IV, but with new stories, and some new improvements. This is a great way to feed your GTA addiction until the next game (new platform or ported) appears.

This is a fantastic game! I won't waste time with another glowing review, but it is important to know that if you purchase this version (Liberty City Episodes) instead of the regular GTAIV game, you will not be able to play online with regular GTAIV users, even if they have downloaded the Lost and Damned and/or Ballad of Gay Tony episodes!!

This is a serious flaw in my opinion. My friends have the original GTAIV and downloaded these episodes, but we cannot play online because I bought Liberty City episodes. They are the exact same thing, but we cannot play online!!!!

Honest reviews on Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City - Xbox 360

A lot of people were dissapointed with GTA IV when it came out. Mainly because it didnt have as many "Over the top" side missions like San Andreas had. I personally thought GTA IV was great but lets talk about episodes from Liberty City. With this disc you get 2 complete games. "The Lost & Damned" aswell as IMO the better of the two "The Ballad of Gay Tony". TBOGT has more over the top side missions etc. like GTA San Andreas had. (Cage Fighting). The graphics are top notch aswell as the gameplay and story. The only complaint I have is I wish the game was a bit longer but I guess it makes up for that in Side Missions. You have a whole different radio soundtrack which I thought was great. VICE CITY FM being one of them. Make sure to pick this game up, it's def. one of the best games to comeout on the Xbox 360.

Ballad of Gay Tony is an Excellent addition to the GTA4 product that really captures the true essence of the Manhattan Club scene. the storyline itself is pretty good...but the free roam is where its at when it comes to GTA. i love how once the game begins, you are started in Manhattan with all areas unlocked and all of the guns are available to purchase...as well as extra outfits, its alot faster than the original GTA4 with Niko. having multiple bootycalls, participating in a fight club and managing the dance club are interesting aspects as well, however boring after a while...but this game does an excellent job of simulating an Actual Life...probably the best out of any game iv played...it mirrors San Andreas in many ways...just with 10x more sex...

Lost and Damned wasnt really my cup of tea. the storyline is OK but for the most part, felt very boring, maybe because biker gangs arent my thing?? i feel they could have done alot more with it. maybe have an ongoing Turf War mode where other gangs attack your area of town at random. on a lighter note, it does capture the biking culture well so for fans of that, you may be very satisfied with it...

overall, Rockstar did an awesome job at extending the Life of GTA4 with these add on's and they are truly worth your money and time.

Dead or Alive is one of those series that hasn't been taken seriously because of the beach volleyball spin off and its boob-physics. Looking beyond that however it is a quality fighting game that is simple to pickup and improve at.

The good:

-Easy learning curve. You punch, you kick, you throw (grapple), you block, and you hold (counter). Most of the combos are really simple; a series of punches and kicks, sometimes with directional movement but otherwise it's very straight forward. Combos are short (under 15 hits) and do not require hours of grinding to master. The fighting modes for DoA5 are arcade, time attack, and survival and there are 7 difficulties ranging from very easy to normal to champ to master, Tecmo kept the bar low to introduce players into the franchise while at the same time keeping the seasoned DoA players challenged.

-The fighting. Tecmo's rock, paper, scissors method to fighting as always been prevalent in the DoA series but this time its a selling point (ignoring the sexualized female characters). Punches/kicks will beat throws, throws will beat blocking and counter holds, and blocking and counter holds will beat punches. There is always a risk to each action you take and there isn't a sure way to win like other fighting game series (Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter 4). Tecmo makes the risk really prevalent with this rock, paper, and scissors design because a misread will lead to more damage. For example, a throw that is used on a block will deal x amount of damage but a throw used on a counter hold will deal 1.5x damage. Dead or Alive 5 does not have any unblockable/inescapable setups that other games find as a key to win a fight. I haven't lost a fight in the DoA series thinking "Wow that move was rigged" or "That character needs nerfing" it was a matter of the mistakes I made in that fight or the other player's mastery of the game. The question in this game is how safe will your next move be and how effective will it be, rather than how well can I trap and how well can I execute my combos? Dead or Alive 5 is all about reading out your opponents next move or creating an unpredictable offense. Players can still counter a move while they're being struck, this forces a variety of high, medium, or low punches/kicks. If that defensive player misreads a counter then the offensive player can extend his/her combo. This style of fighting leaves the game play to be more exciting, each fight is different rather than watching a replay of the same setup and the repeat same combos.

-The fighters. Most fighter's skill set is a representation of a real-life fighting style. Brad Wong Drunken Fist. Christie Snake Fist. Bayman Russian Martial Arts. Hitomi Karate. Rig Tae Kwon Do. Tina Wrestling. Each fighter is built for a purpose that will suit a particular play style. I'm not too sure if the ninjutsu style of fighting is real but a part from that I feel like Dead or Alive is a documentary of fighting techniques of the world. I haven't found a character that is completely useless but rather their style just doesn't suit me. The grappling characters may be sluggish in their punches and kicks, but their high damage on throws and holds make up the difference. The characters that rely on their unpredictability have lower damage in comparison to others. I've always been a lover of the special tag-throws given between certain characters. Two fighters having similar fighting styles or a close relationship in the story will give a pair of characters a special tag throw that'll deal bonus damage. [You can see these special tag throws by youtube DoA5 Tag Throws.] This addition brings that connection between characters and fighting styles, it is very entertaining to see team work to destroy your enemy. All the fighters are given unlockable costumes and Tecmo even threw in a free DLC costume pack instead of charging for character skins. People like free DLC, I hope you're paying attention Capcom.

-The online, it's not the best because it's still in its infancy. An option is open for a player to challenge you while you're playing a single player game so it's like a real arcade-fighting game experience. I'm playing on a high bandwith connection so I'm not facing any problems at the moment. It doesn't outshine any other fighting game's online play.

-The visuals. Characters are more life-like than ever: each character is now less cartoony and have their own distinct features both in their beauty and their nationality. Tecmo even went to the length of throwing in sweat and dirt into the game for a more realistic feel. I'm sure everyone can pick a favorite in how each character looks. The stages are detailed, interactive and alive, the environment will hurt you (electrified walls, being kicked off of a ledge etc.)and it is changing. Being kicked off of a ledge is not the death of the character like in Mortal Kombat or Soul Calibur, if the character still has health then the just fight goes on and the stage changes.

-The training. Training mode is one of the easiest I've seen, some moves are tricky but far from impossible. There is a video preview of what the combo should look like. The timing of each combo is more lenient than other fighting games. The combo's input is always on display, your inputs are always on display, and the direction of the arrows will change whenever your character has changed direction. Depending on your inputs, it will show the possible combos that can still be done. For example, inputting a forward punch combo will only bring up combos that start with a forward punch. It really comes in handy when designing possible initiation sequences. In addition, there are frame data that can be analyzed to see the risk of a strike if it is blocked or how long an opponent is vulnerable when a strike lands. The difference in a seasoned player and a newbie would come from the familiarity of all the character's combos and knowing this frame data.

The bad:

-The storyline. It's a mess of cutscenes, 1.5 hours of it. Rather than keeping the individual story line and ending for each character like in DoA3, 4. DoA5 created a massive timeline that connected most, but not all, of the characters into a single story. The result is a confused mess because you start with a character, play him/her in 3 fights, then jump to another one. You're left wandering into what happened to the rest of the characters that weren't a part of the ending. You can't pick your favorite character to end the game with. It forces you to sample all the characters that are involved in the story line but at the same time left out a few other characters. I don't recall playing as Christie in the story line even though you fight her with a few characters. Tecmo tried to be all-inclusive with the story line but ended up excluding a majority of characters from the ending. Tecmo built a tutorial within the story line and there's no way to go around it. The game starts off on very easy and ends with a normal difficulty fight. The ending "boss" fight is not really a boss more like a combination of 4 characters. The end result is a story that was ambitious in its attempt to include 20 characters into 1 big cutscene-driven story line but ended up having a very ambiguous ending with many character's stories either not including or ended prematurely.

-Game has an unfinished game menu. Every time you start the game it asks to 'choose storage device' and it'll show an empty menu but will allow you to continue. It'll also repeatedly remind you to not shut the game off when it's saving. It'll also forget the language options that are set and will automatically default to Voice Acting and Menu Language as English. This wouldn't be a problem with the English wasn't as good as the Japanese ones. (This problem is now fixed, patch it)

-The Virtua Fighter audio. They really sound out of place, the recordings sound like they were just copied and pasted from Virtua Fighter and I'm sure they were.

Conclusion:

Don't let the bad story line discourage you from playing the game. If you appreciate martial arts and seek an alternative fighting game DoA5 is a good choice. It's easy to pick up and to me it is how a realistic fighting game is meant to be set up.

New May 8, 2013/July 22, 2013

Team Ninja has announced 'Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate' to be released in Fall 2013 with Momoiji (from Ninja Gaiden 3) as a playable character and other content released for the Vita. They've essentially 'pulled a Capcom' which explains the price drop for DoA5. Unless it can't be helped, wait for DoA5 Ultimate.

May 22, 2013

From what I've seen from preview screenshots and etc here are the new characters for DoA5 Ultimate:

-Momoiji (Ninja Gaiden Series)

-Rachel (Ninja Gaiden Series)

-Leon

-Ein

-Jacky Bryant from Virtua Fighter

FYI:

The DLC costumes for DoA5 will be carried over to DoA5 Ultimate.

DoA5 Ultimate will be for 39.99 and can be preordered on Amazon among other places.

The good:

The graphics are really nicely done.

The JPN voice actors sound fabulous.

There's a nice long difficulty ramp for all players (Rookie to Legend)

Counters are toned down a bit, so Bass can't kill you in 3 shots now.

Most of my issues have been covered, so I'll just say a few things. As a longtime fan (from DOA2 onward), here are my issues:

-Story mode is not individual characters anymore, but a giant piecemeal map where you have to play certain characters at certain times. Nothing worse than having to face Alpha with one of my worst characters.

They tried to balance out the characters, but Rig is tooled pretty high (some of his counters are worse than Bass') and Pai is tooled pretty low (death by 1000 cuts, if she lasts that long)

They messed with the counter system window again. I have no problems getting counters with any of the new characters (perfect ones with Rig right off the bat and Sarah, too), but the older ones give me a few issues (even Lei Fang). Not sure what's up with that and if it's linked to some frame change.

The AI for the difficulty levels seems to occasionally forget what level they are supposed to be. I had almost no issues with "True Champ", but Hard kicked my butt for a bit. Though, the computer certainly remembers when you pick, "did you touch a button? Counter! Juggle! Downstrike!" Whoops, I mean, "Legendary".

No Ein!

I like the game, but had I known beforehand how much of it had changed and how many of the small changes were annoying, I'd have probably waited until it dropped to about $35 before picking it up.

I bought the PS3 version when this game came out, I was not impressed with the control scheme and fluidness of the character controls. I decided to give another try and the Xbox version does not disappoint, plus it is much cheaper in price now, I paid $19.99 opposed to the whopping $ 59.99 when it first came out. This review is solely based upon which version is better. The graphics for the Xbox are about the same as the PS3.

Honest reviews on Dead or Alive 5

I am making a short review.. I LOVE the DOA series as a whole. It's great that there's still a non weapon based combat game. Rarer to find a straight up fighting game.

The graphics are incredible.. the stories are still silly.. But as with Ninja Gaiden 3 this game feels rushed and missing the steady hand of series godfather Itagaki.

The new story mode, similar to Soul Calibur V and Mortal Kombat you play several missions as varying characters tying a larger story together.

Honestly I much would have preferred more clear cut individual stories/campaigns for each character. I will say though DOA is still one of the best pick'em up and play fighting games.. the graphics are great, and the fx are really good. And even though they do emphasize too much on the "boob physics" if you really want to dig into all of the counters, and reversals the game can get pretty dense and strategic, while at the same time its a good casual button mashing fighting game. There's no big customization ala Soul Calibur V. But its still a fun time..

I pre ordered this and have been playing almost every day. I like how they made 5 an "open to most" type of fighting game and not a "hard core" fighter game like 4 was. I think 4 is good if you want the feel of a game that makes you push yourself for every win in the game. But I like the idea of being able to tell people about DOA that may not have ever played any of the games before and have them try this one out. And know they aren't going to get thrashed in arcade mode and feel like they went against pro players. I have nothing against hard leveled fighting games but it's good to have the option to tone it down a bit to welcome in new players and let them crank up the difficulty when they're ready. For myself, I've taken arcade mode to max level with Ayane. (a few continues used.) But I like to be able to fun play without having to think about how to out play tough A.I. I think this game is easy enough for beginners but can be a good fight for pros. Most have pointed out that there is no boss battle here. You do get one with Alpha, but only at the end of Story mode. Other modes just end with a final match with a random fighter out of the regulars. As for unlocks, you get: 3 fighters from Virtua Fighter (Akira, Sarah, and Pai), 2 extras from DOA: (Gen and Alpha), and 1 extra stage. You also get the chance to unlock extra outfits through play for each fighter just like with the other DOA's. Also, you can flip from English to Japanese for voices. Everything in the fights flowed great, tag handled great to. As for online I don't play too much there, but from what I did see all seems to work well. To wrap up, if you want to play a fun fighter with some bite, this game is great. And if you have been wanting to try a DOA game this is the perfect one to try.

About time I got these cables. Sure, I have a PS3 and enjoy my current gen gaming experience, but sometimes I like to bust out some Halo 2 action with my friends. Xbox was meh on my Samsung LCD, but was a vast improvement with these cables over the S-Video I was using. Yes, I know why.

I have had them for a while now, and while I don't use them too often, they really have me enjoying my Xbox experience years after it was "obsolete". Lots of great games to try out with the HD cable now!

I imported the game a while back and have it basically 100% completed including the DLC. Honestly, there is not much to say besides what has been said already, but the chances are that you are going to love this game. It's unique, and an experience that has a lot of love put into it.

Pros:

-Smooth mechanics, basically the whole reason you play this game is to experience the gravity movement.

-Humongous and very interesting steam-punk-ish cities.

-Interesting characters and story even though a lot of questions were left over after beating the game.

Cons:

-Lag. There were parts of the game that grinded to a complete halt due to lag as well as noticeable lag in battles and sometimes in big cities, however this didn't happen too often and didn't bother me when it did.

-Difficulty vs mechanics. When the battles get difficult latter in the game and in the DLC the mechanics don't make up for it. It can get frustrating only being able to attack straight-on especially when you need to use the touch screen dodge mechanic over and over again, however I have found there are solid strategies to defeating every enemy that maybe weren't so apparent at first.

-Lack of things to do. There's story missions, leader board type side missions (races, beating Nevi for points, etc.), and gem collecting. After you finish the story missions, the game feels pretty empty. Oh yeah, there's also DLC and secret really strong Nevi to beat that were a nice addition but only extended the gameplay for a couple hours.

I know my cons section was extensive, but you can pretend it doesn't exist, because they don't significantly detract from the overall experience. If you like video games (I hate that stupid line from gamefly commercials), then you should really pick this one up.

While not a perfect experience, Gravity Rush is an excellent demonstration of the Vita being more than a port machine designed for cash-in HD Collections, and goes a long way in restoring some play time to my dust-layered handheld.

After a questionably unnecessary tap or two, the game starts with your hero, Kat, groggily lifting her head, clueless to her surroundings and even her identity. She's dressed like some ornamental grasshopper, her eyes are a rabid shade of red and she's introduced to a very strange cat: this is pretty much all the storyline you get for a while.

The game doesn't give you much peace before introducing you to the core mechanic, gravity shifting. It was about ten seconds after this that I flung my character into a black hole, which was the beginning of wrapping my head around a gameplay structure I never really experienced before. You main movement is done by first defying gravity with a push of the right trigger, aiming the camera where you want to go with the right analog or tilting the Vita, and hitting right trigger again to shift downward gravity in that direction. You can sorta move your character around while "flying," but the most accurate method is always to double-tap the trigger aiming where you wish to "fall." To return to the standard gravity takes just a quick push of the left trigger. All of that plus a weird Megaman-ish gravity slide along the ground makes up your transportation methods.

This works beautifully 99% of the time, and once you get over the initial confusion, you'll feel like some sort of Spider-Man side character using your own unique way of zipping through the city. And speaking of the city, man, that place is pretty huge. I don't just mean for a handheld game, either. For giving a massive sense of scale, I haven't seen a game pull it off as well as Gravity Rush has since...Shadow of the Colossus, perhaps? And it's nowhere near as static/uninteractive as I first feared: pedestrians cower, rails and pillars collapse from your battles and each city sector you go through has a distinct feel to it thanks to a diverse, orchestral soundtrack. You really have to play it yourself to see how incredibly detailed the city structure is, because pretty much every screenshot ever makes it look like leftover footage from Superman 64.

The city and gameplay compliment each other nicely, but of course the rest of the game needs a wee bit more than that. In comes your shadowy, pink-and-black monsters called Nevi. I keep reading it as Navi while playing: I think that's what makes killing them so much more fun. But anywho, Nevi come in multiple forms and sizes, can either dominate the land or air, but their one signature weakness is the pink orb or two on their bodies. Barring your occasional armor plating, that's your bullseye, that's all you have to focus on. Very little in the way of pattern memorization or outsmarting them, just seek and destroy with the combat system.

And this is where things get a little sketchy. See, you have one basic land attack, one basic air attack, and while both can be upgraded to increase damage and complexity, neither one ever really feels efficient when dealing with enemies. Your land kick is obviously going to keep you grounded, but your aerial attack is an all-out charging bull maneuver. That charge attack works fine for a few hours, but then you get these hopping jerkfaces with orbs out of reach from the ground, and they kinda love to hop out of your way while you Bruce Lee right by without leaving a scratch. Later on, the flying enemy with its own charging attack shows up, and these fights consist of the two (or five) of you zipping by each other like a bunch of rams blindly trying to headbutt each other. True, you upgrade a throw attack to toss any spare junk lying around, plus there's the several super attacks which can devastate the horde pretty quickly, but those aren't always available options. Combine this with missions that increasingly rely on combat and less on the clever platforming, you begin to see how this is an issue. Protip: never be still.

While the combat never really takes off, other missions stand out as surprisingly clever and memorable. From the schoolgirl mode that sends you on multiple false leads to fourth-wall-breaking fetch quests, the characters and goals are excellent. Sometimes you even leave the main city, combining the joys of exploration with an even greater appreciation for just how big the game tries to be. Bonus missions like races and combat scoring go the extra mile in adding content, mainly because they can be brutal in their qualifications and conditions.

While some games on the Vita try to be just like their home console version and fail horribly at presentation (Mortal Kombat's Johnny Cage looks like a fifty-year-old man with an afro), Gravity Rush has a look that fits the console perfectly. I even like most of the touch/motion controls. To hell with Uncharted and WipEout. THIS is the game to display the Vita as a true handheld capable of its own experiences, similar to the Pokemon or Mario & Luigi games Nintendo brings to their handhelds. Completely unique in gameplay, massive in spatial scope and memorable in character, Gravity Rush is, more than any other game so far, a reason to buy a Vita.

Best Deals for Gravity Rush - PlayStation Vita

As you play through Gravity Rush, two things become increasingly clear. In my review, I will talk about just these two things.

First of all, and especially towards the beginning of the game, it becomes clear that Gravity Rush is by no means a perfect game. Like many reviews have highlighted throughout the internet, controlling protagonist Kat around her world is amazing when under no pressure from enemies, time or both. However, when you are put under one of these pressures, things can get hectic to the point where I was even mildly frustrated in some of the more intense fights or races. Part of this is due to the not entirely reliable lock on of some of Kat's attacks. It is also partly due to the nature of the game which literally has you fighting upside down, making for an epic look but not the smoothest experience. Beyond the controls, the town is vast and beautiful, but a tad empty. The story is extremely charming (it feels a lot like a Miyasaki film) yet tends to switch gears a lot and what little plot is there is kind of hard to follow. And loading times for certain challenges are way too long.

The second thing you realize playing Gravity Rush is that all of those faults mentioned above simply do not matter. This is one of the best games to have come out in quite some time, and not just for the Vita or handhelds alone. The entire experience is so incredibly magical, so incredibly exhilirating, and so incredibly fun that any and all faults in the game are forgotten the second they pass. I cannot remember the last time simply moving around in a videogame made me smile so much. I cannot remember the last time I spent so much time just moving around a virtual world exploring and taking in it's beauty. This is truly a unique experience, enhanced all the more by an amazing soundtrack and one of the most likeable protagonists I've seen in years. You might not always be able to keep track of Gravity Rush's story, but you will always enjoying going along for the ride.

Gravity Rush may not be perfect, but many of the best things in life never are. At the end of the day, it's fault don't matter because it offers one of the most original and enjoyable experiences to grace videogames in years. If you own a Vita, it would be a crime to let this game pass you by. And if you do not own a Vita, then it may be time to consider getting one.

Honest reviews on Gravity Rush - PlayStation Vita

At first I wrote off this game as another Japanese game that would have a very limited appeal in the US.

Then I played it. The game is original; this hasn't been done before. The characters are very likable, and the gameplay is great.

The hero in the game is a girl named Kat (I'd guess around 16). Other games with female characters tend to use female attributes to make the game appeal to males. This one does not; Kat, while very likable really doesn't have nor uses any of those shallow tricks. The game story has side quests where others will say detrimental things to the character about her looks, etc, but she takes it in stride. The hero is just a good person that wants to do good things and is VERY powerful with what makes her special, and wins over her peer group eventually. Her "romantic interest" (though its pretty much all platonic) seems to be a very bumbling average guy...not the pick of the litter by far. So, in that respect, I think this is a great game for pre-teen or teen girls who may be struggling with issues common in that age group.

With that said, the game should be enjoyable by pretty much anyone. I'm a 37 year old man, and I loved it.

I had heard about this game but, really had no interest in it till recently. I had heard a lot speculating this game would be amazing so I decided I should check out the demo. From that moment I was hooked and longing for more. I picked up this game at release which is something I hardly do anymore. After playing the actual game I am convinced this is most likely going to be the Game of the Year for Vita if not in general. The game is beautiful and flows so well. The mix between touch screen the visuals and the motion controls manages to showcase the vita's capabilities in a way that has yet to be seen. I have had a lot of fun with my vita thus far and after playing this game it makes me excited for what's to come. I hope developers take a note as to what has been done here and this trend continues and improves. If you have a vita or are thinking about getting one this game is a must. At the least check out the demo and decide for yourself.
