-The general appearance of the mouse itself is very good; it definitely looks quality. The LED lights look pretty awesome. The 3D "bumpy" paint on the mouse is well done and doesn't look cheap at all. It's so realistic that when I opened the box and exposed the mouse my brother said "it has a defect, they made it bumpy."

-The box is nice, has a magnetic cover in front which one can lift to see the mouse

-The metallic weights and box also look nice, although I won't be seeing much of them

-The wire is braided black and blue and goes well with the blue dpi lights

Functionality:

-Tracking is excellent and works well on all surfaces I tried (including carpet/rug)

-The pads/feet on the mouse are smooth and result in little friction when using the mouse

-Ergonomics are pretty good; it is not evident from the pictures but the sides of the mouse are coated with a matte-like finish--not quite rubber, but still enough for a decent grip when using the mouse. The shape of the mouse fits the hand relatively well, and works for both palm and claw grips.

-The clickers are solid and click with the perfect amount of finger pressure

-The mouse wheel is quiet and turns with the perfect amount of pressure

-The mouse works (LEDs, all buttons, etc) right after it's plugged it in; the CD only has to be installed to program the mouse with other functions

Functionality:

-MAJOR!!!: The software is good, but it doesn't adjust DPI all the way to 8200; it stops at 5000.

In the software, there are three ways to change DPI: a slider bar, clicking the up and down arrows next to the DPI text box, and manually entering the DPI in said text box. The slider bar is buggy (doesn't point to the DPI it's supposed to) and only lands on 500/1000/1500/2000/3000/4000/5000 DPI, the up and down arrows only bring the DPI to those same numbers, and manually entering the DPI I want only changes the DPI to the numbers above. It was a bummer that I couldn't manually enter the 800 DPI I'm used to for some games (if you look at the product description on the Perixx site, the DPI for the MX3000 reads 500-8200 rather than #/#/#/#/#/#/# like it does for its other mice, making me believe that I could adjust it to a specified amount I wanted), but at the very least, this mouse should perform at the advertised DPI range. Upon further inspection, I realized that the 500/1000/1500/2000/3000/4000/5000 DPI range is for the MX2000, so it appears that Perixx recycled some of their older-model software for this mouse. Hopefully a software patch can be released so customers can play at advertised DPI levels. I'm not taking off a star for this, but you may be bothered by the current range.

-DPI +/button has awkward positioning. Also, I noticed that it doesn't seem to perfectly fit in its slot, because when I press +DPI and then -DPI right after, the button clicks twice--once (minor) when it goes to the middle, and another when it goes to the minus side. The mouse only registers the second click though, so it's not terrible, just an annoyance. Note that this doesn't happen when going from to +. I'm not sure if this is a defect with my particular mouse or all of them.

-The middle mouse wheel is a bit difficult to click, but I'm adjusting to this

OTHER:

-Though not necessarily apparent, the shape of this mouse is for right-handers only

-The LED DPI indicators are always blue, regardless of what color the side LEDs are set. The scroll wheel does not light up, as a couple of the pictures may make it seem; rather, the inside of the mouse lights up to color the side LED lights, and a bit of this light leaks through the wheel hole.

-The wheel does not scroll side-to-side

This mouse fits really well with my hand and grip. I like the button placements. My only major gripe, is it tracks movement even when its lifted off the mousepad more than a 1/2 inch. I play with fairly low sensitivity so I pickup and move the mouse some for larger movements and it is tracking my backswipe unless I excessively lift it off the mat.

Update: I contacted perixx and they said would pass this info along to their design team to improve it. I ended up returning this mouse and buying a Razer Deathadder which has a setting for mouse lift right in the software. Really like it so far.

Update 2: Perixx responded saying their future mice will have a 2mm liftoff.

I bought these at Gamestop($129.99) and have been using them heavily for about a month, particularly for Starcraft2 and listening to music. The fit and finish on the headset is very high quality. The plastic and metal bits seem very durable and should hold up to normal use. The headset is also very comfortable to wear, although it does not seal securely around the ear, which allows in a lot of ambient sound. The colors of the lights can be easily changed, or mix and matched to your particular preference. There is a lot to like about the design, however in function this headset is absolute garbage. The first week was ok, but it all quickly went south. The mic, when it works, will just randomly stop working at the most inconvenient times (often while in SC2). Occasionally when launching games, the sound will stop working altogether, and requires you to re-seat the usb connector to reestablish the connection to the computer. This process baselines all of your previously saved software settings, and requires you to reset everything. When it is working, the sound is great, however I always know whats coming. I own or have owned 4 Razer mice, 1 keyboard, and 1 other headset. This product is not up to Razer standards, and it appears they got the SC2 naming license and just phoned it in for some easy cash. Disappointing at best. I have decided to pitch this into the Land of Unused Electronics and go with another brand, preferably one that's manufactured in the United States. As a footnote, I have a technical background and have worked in I.T. for over fifteen years. I have put numerous hours into trying multiple configurations to get this headset to work with no luck.

I got this headset on a lightning deal for $59.99. I was hesitant because while I like Starcraft, I'm not a fanboy. I was pleased to find that I could completely turn off the Starcraft II logo lights when customizing the light scheme. The lack of a padded microphone allows for some background noise to come through, but it's still decent quality.

Keep in mind that the body of the headset is a metallic gray; not nearly as dark as the images suggest. That's just a vain little gripe, though.

They are comfortable and effective. However, unless you have an intense love of Starcraft, I would recommend one of the other Razer headsets instead of paying full price for this product.

The headset itself is very solid. The size may be a little off-putting to those not used to larger headsets, but it is very comfortable to wear and exceptionally easy to get used to.

It looks great, the lights are bright and the sound quality is on-par for the price of the headset.

The microphone, however, is designed poorly.

It will stop working quickly. Everyone I've ever known to own one of these has either had to get a new headset or a new microphone to use externally. It's a very unfortunate and fatal flaw of an otherwise good headset.

To sum it up, the audio and comfort are great, but the microphone is almost guaranteed to fail you after a very short time.

This was exactly what I needed to fix my RROD error. It includes all the hardware necessary to replace both x clamps, and comes with a URL to PDFs explaining, with pictures, how to take apart your Xbox 360, remove the x clamps, and put it together the way Microsoft probably should have done in the first place.

Their instructions were clear and concise, and led me through the process step by step. There is only one thing I would change: at the end, instead of step-by-step directions for reassembly, the directions tell you to reverse the disassembly directions. Granted, I was able to do it, and I expect just about anyone with the courage to open their Xbox and void the warranty will also be able to figure it out. However, I was rather tired after disassembling and repairing my first ever Xbox, so it took a lot longer than it should have, and since I don't have any anti-static bags (yet) to keep the circuit boards in overnight, I didn't want to leave it disassembled.

Now granted, there are instructions for this process available several places online for free. I would not pay for just the instructions. However, since I was buying the hardware anyway, it was helpful to me to have the exact pieces I needed all in one place, with screws that match the original hardware so there's no need for drilling. Now I can go to the hardware store with actual examples of the screws and washers I need, rather than matching descriptions. I feel that the instructions, "included" in the kit by virtue of URLs on a little piece of paper, were still worth it. I appreciate them not sending out paper copies, because that way each purchaser can choose whether to print or display them electronically, whereas if they sent out paper copies, many people would wind up throwing them away because they don't need them, and paper would go to waste. However, you CAN get the instructions for free, and you are NOT paying for a paper manual with this kit. They send you a small card with URLs on it, which you then type into your favorite browser, and view them with your favorite PDF viewer. I don't see that as a downside, but someone might, so it's worth mentioning.

So, in short, this was exactly the kit I needed to do both the GPU and CPU, with the tools and paste I felt most comfortable using. I might go back and buy the Xbox opening tool, because it really is tricky to get the case apart by pushing the tabs one by one with a screwdriver without damaging it, and it seems like the tool might be faster. However, this kit gets the job done, and the instructions were clear enough to penetrate the fog in my head, caused by sudden Assassin's Creed withdrawal. Well done, 3redlightfix. Well done.

I sold my older model Xbox and purchased this Reach bundle as a replacement. After unboxing and testing it out, I have to say its a huge upgrade from my previous model. It runs quieter and cooler since the "Slims" are built on the new 45nm "Valhalla" motherboard architecture which also require less power. Finally some built-in Wi-Fi too.

It looks beautiful...Bungie's custom artwork really sets this thing apart from the rest....work of art. The custom Reach controllers also look great and compliment the Xbox's Reach design theme. Not to mention you get "two" of them in this bundle....in my case I have a brand new spare now to store away for later.

The custom sounds when powering up this Xbox and opening the disc tray were neat, I liked them. Further adds to the Halo theme.

Also included as a bonus with the Reach Xbox bundle were codes for: Falcon Avatar accessory, Elite officer armor, Spartan Recon helmet, an episode of Halo Legends called "The Package", and a 2-day Xbox Live Gold trial. The console is also Kinect-ready.

5-stars, anything less would be absurd.

**This review is for the console itself, not the game.**

My Pro was getting old, slow, and loud. Having to reallocate memory as DLC, arcade games, and save files accumulate on the 20 GB HDD was getting old, too. So my love for the Halo universe convinced me that things had lined up such that I could upgrade in style with the new Halo: Reach bundle.

Overall, fantastic console.

LOOKS:

Stylish silver matte coating with gray and black Halo-themed decorations sprinkled over it. Does not retain finger prints (know this was a big issue a lot of people over-exaggerated with the other 360-S's -though why you're fondling your 360 after you get it set up is unclear to me). Controllers look very nice, too I love the new look. New power block (downsized from the clunky original "brick") is black and more aesthetically streamlined.

PERFORMANCE:

Loads quickly, smoothly, and without problems. Does exactly what it's supposed to. Have not tried the wireless yet, as I used a wired connection. Controllers respond very well (though it might just be that I'm used to old/worn controllers). Standard headset mic still requires you to yell into it, but if you don't have to worry about keeping your voice down, it works just fine.

HEAT MANAGEMENT:

Console itself stays pretty cool for such a device. The S's new heat sink system appears to whisk away most of the heat from the internal components and out the vents, presumably keeping the CPU, GPU, and other chipsets cooler.

**NOTE: I've read a lot of reviews complaining the S runs hotter than the original. This is not accurate. The air coming out of the console is hotter. This means more heat is being expelled and that less heat is trapped inside the console, meaning what matters the temp of your hardware is staying cooler.

NOISE:

Runs whisper-quiet. I played it for 7-8 hours straight (judge if you will I was just, you know, testing the hardware =P), stayed consistently quiet the entire time.

Overall, again, great console. I'm quite happy with this purchase.

Plus the game made it that much better. Quite simply the best Halo game since Halo: CE (Reach is now the king of the Halo games, offering the most gameplay features, co-op opportunities, fearsome and unpredictable AI, game options/customization, sexy visual/audio experience, replayability, character variety, and overall value ever in a Halo game).

Well, a week or so before Halo: Reach came out, my 360 decided it would be a great time to start freezing up for no reason, and I wasn't going to pay to get it fixed when I got a replacement refurbished console just 9 months ago (finally got RROD'd but fell under the seemingly unlimited extended warranty for the 3 flashing lights). So I decided to go ahead and get the Halo: Reach bundle as a replacement. I fixed the old console anyway (unsurprisingly, the shoddy X-Clamps were the culprit), but figured it would be a nice upgrade to have regardless since my old one is the original model.

The bundle is pretty nice for the $400 price tag. You get two controllers, a copy of Reach (with some extras thrown in for good measure) and of course, the console itself. Being an owner of an original Xbox 360, it's easy to notice the advantages the 360 S has over the old model. The biggest improvement is ventilation; you'll notice a lot of hot air coming out of the console and might worry it's overheating as a result, but it's actually doing a better job of pushing more air out (unlike the old console, which had terrible overheating problems). I haven't cracked open the console itself to see what they changed on the inside since I just got it and don't feel like voiding my brand new warranty (here's to hoping they got rid of the horribly cheap X-Clamps in the old model and replaced them with actual screws this time) but overall it seems like it does a much better job of dissipating heat so it seems like everything inside should work fine. There's numerous other improvements as well; built in Wireless N (which works great and takes almost no time to set up), touch sensitive buttons (which make cool Halo noises when used), and a sleeker, more angular design than the original 360 model. Oh, and one of the best parts of the new design? The console no longer sounds like a freight train! I wouldn't say it's "whisper quiet" like it's advertised as, but it is definitely quieter. The disc drive no longer makes your console sound like your Xbox is blasting off into space when in use. And if you install your games (which you should, with 250g of space to spare) it's even quieter. It still makes some noise, but at least it doesn't sound like your Xbox is trying to calculate the true value of Pi anymore. As for the design of the console, the console in this package is Halo-themed; it's silver and has the ONI logo on it and is labeled as an "Archive Reader." The Silver finish is great looking, so it will fit in well with the rest of your electronics so you won't have to be embarrassed to have it in your entertainment center.

The two wireless controllers are also themed in a similar fashion to the console (again, a nice silver finish with black used for the shoulder buttons and the bottom part). Everything else about the controllers is the same, they just look cooler.

The new Xbox also comes with a smaller power brick (albeit, there still is one). No, it isn't Reach themed (that would be sort of weird anyway) but it's smaller and the console itself uses less power overall.

There are a few disappointments with the system (specifically related to all Xbox 360S'es, not the Halo: Reach one in particular since they're the same anyway). There's no memory card slot, so if you overpaid for one of those years ago (like I did) so you could carry your profile to your friend's house, well, you can basically throw it out since now you'll have to use USB drives. Also, the package doesn't come with an HDMI cable or a component HD AV cable, even though they had no issues packing one in with the Pro models almost 5 years ago. Guess Microsoft is trying to squeeze a few extra dollars out of purchasers. I had a spare HDMI cable anyway, so it didn't matter to me, but make sure you get some sort of HD capable cable if you buy this bundle and have an HDTV because otherwise you're stuck with standard def (and don't go and buy MS's overpriced cables, you can get an HDMI cable that's just as good for way less here on Amazon).

I won't review Halo: Reach in depth here since there's already a ton of reviews about the game, but it is a potential Game of the Year candidate. It can definitely keep you entertained until the next generation of consoles, and probably even longer (after all, Halo 2 was more popular than any Xbox 360 game till Gears of War came out about a year later). It's worth buying a 360 for in my opinion, or more specifically, this bundle.

In addition to Halo: Reach, you get some extras as well. You get a code for a Recon helmet variant (normally in any pre-order or launch day copy), a code for the Elite Officer armor permutation (Limited/Legendary edition normally), a Falcon for your Avatar (better than nothing I guess, although if you really like Avatars, I guess it's cool) and an episode of Halo: Legends. Some nice extras that certainly aren't going to make or break the package, but are nice extras nonetheless.

Overall, you get a great value here. If you don't own a 360 but are interested in getting one so you can play Reach, this bundle is excellent and sports some cool looking controllers and a sexy console. If you're looking to upgrade and have the cash to spare, it's also worth the price (can always sell any extra stuff you don't need anyway). Aside from a few complaints about the console (complaints which apply to all 360 S consoles, not just the Reach one) the package is excellent.

System is worth the money. Like I already mentioned, when you start up the xbox, it sounds like your shields recharging and when you power down, the same. The disc drive has cool non button button that open and closes it. The two controllers are very sharp and seem a bit heavier, better quality than standard wireless controllers. This package includes two of them which is nice. There are going to be a million reviews on halo reach, so I am just going to comment on the system package, which I personally am very happy with.

Let me preface this by saying that I have been lucky to own a launch edition Pro model that never died. However, right before getting this one, that one was starting to act up. It did ok, as long as I installed games to the hard drive. But when playing games from the game discs themselves, more often than not, the console would give a disc unreadable error, often accompanied by a terrible grinding noise and sudden halt from the drive itself. It was becoming tiresome to install games with the limited HD space of the Pro model. The last nail was that my controller broke. The left trigger quit working properly. Thankfully my wife had bought this package for me as a Christmas gift. When she saw me trying to repair the controller, she went ahead and gave it to me early. Ahh, some guys are so lucky.

Now for the meat and potatoes. This console is slick. It finally went on a diet. It runs very quiet. With my old box I had to install games to the hard drive. This one runs quieter when running a game from the disc than the old one did playing from the hard drive. Of course, I still install the games, I recommend that everyone do that. I believe it adds life to the system by saving wear and tear on the DVD drive. I guess one could say that it is adding wear and tear to the hard drive, so it is a trade off. But it has been my experience over the years that hard drives are a little more robust when it comes to longevity as compared to a DVD drive spinning 100mph.

Speaking of the hard drive. I have never been happy with Microsoft's choice to not let you use other hard drives with the 360. The PS3 is much better in that regard. That wouldn't have been so bad if Microsoft hadn't also been gouging so much on the price of their hard drives. $130 for a 120 GB hard drive is ridiculous. Thankfully, this one is plenty large enough for my needs. You can install 20-25 normal games and still have room.

The other nicety is the console finally has wi-fi built in. Again, this is another area that was completely silly before. I know it was for cost cutting at the time when the systems first launched, but that doesn't explain the abnormally high price of the network adapter if you bought it separately before. In the end though, it never was an issue for me. I have a wired/wireless router. Since my 360 doesn't get moved too often in the house, using ethernet was never a problem, and I still use it with this model. I did test the wi-fi for functionality. It worked very well and was easy to setup. But since this model sits in the same place as my old box, I am continuing to use the "wire".

As mentioned before, the 360 Slim is just that. It has lost a lot of weight and bulk in the redesign. This particular version is quite attractive as well. I like the "touch" sensitive buttons on the console. Just place your finger over the disc eject button or the power button. No need to press anything. It's a small thing, but it is a nice touch, no pun intended. The accompanying sound effects are cool. However, I mostly use the controller for everything. When I want to play another game, I use the controller to open the disc tray.

The inclusion of two controllers was a nice bonus. They share the same paint scheme as the unit itself. For a Halo fanatic, this would be the ultimate. I enjoy Halo, but with perspective. It is a great series, but I like many other games, some much more. One thing of note though is that despite that manual saying otherwise, there were no batteries for the controllers in the box that I received. Surely a mixup at the factory, as I know others have stated theirs came with batteries.

One glaring omission that must be mentioned though is the lack of any HD cables. The only AV cable included is a composite cable with Left and Right audio. When paying $400 for a new system, some option for HD output should have been included. I didn't have any spare HDMI cables either. Thankfully, the HD AV cable from my old Pro model fit this one, so I am able to use component as before. Still this is silly, this is their "Best of the Best" and they didn't accommodate owners of HD televisions? (quite a few people these days)

But then again, that allows them to make money selling cables at inflated prices. If you need cables, I suggest alternatives. I am definitely a fan of the 360, I am not however, a fan of Microsoft's pricing scheme for accessories.

Hopefully this review didn't seem too harsh. The system overall is exactly what I mentioned in the title. This is the package that we should have been offered all along--sans the HD cables. It is a slick looking unit that functions very well. It is also very quiet and runs very cool. Compared to buying a new slim and all the included goodies, it is a very good value.

Review of Indigo Prophecy - Xbox

There have been games throughout the years that have truly done something original, different and completely engaging. It always seems to be that these games fall by the wayside in terms of popularity which is a shame. Indigo Prophecy falls into this category as an original game with a fantastic premise and incredibly exciting gameplay.

Never before have I played a game that was so interactive in its story-telling. When trying to describe this game, I would point to God of War, a PS2 game in which there were scenes where you have timed button presses that would move forward a cutscene. It helped bring you into the story, the cutscenes so that it was you that were doing all of the cool acrobatic manuevers killing the hydra. Another game that used this to a lesser effect was Resident Evil 4, for example with the knife fight that you had to push buttons to keep Leon safe. Indigo Prophecy takes this idea and pushes it to the extreme.

IP is basically and incredibly interactive movie. It mixes the adventure genre, which is seldom seen on console, and movies and melds them into a cohesive and incredibly engaging story. It starts off with a bang as you immediately find yourself killing someone you don't know in a diner. You feel like you're not in control of your actions and as a result you have a body in a restroom and a policeman drinking coffee in the restaurant. What do you do? You're free to act from here on out. Do you leave the body and rush out? Do you hide the body? What about the blood? What about the blood on you? What about the knife? When you leave do you pay your bill? You can take care of all or none of the options above. And the story will be different, sometimes marginally sometimes drastically. Oh, and by the way, that cop sitting outside needs to use the restroom and soon the screen will split and you better be out of there before he makes it to the restroom.

This opening sequence exemplifies everything this game is about. Choices, story and gameplay all merged into one. But innovation doesn't end there. As soon as Lucas (the murdering protagonist) is free of the diner, you take control of two police detectives who investigate the scene. You can switch between the two on the fly and you have to find clues, make theories and basically do everything in your power to catch Lucas. Its this give and take gameplay, where you have to play one side against the other, that truly gives the game a sense of urgency and excitement.

Going back to the God of War example, when you have cutscenes in this game, you better not put your controller down. Gameplay pushes forward the story-centered bits as well. Whether its doing a simon says type control scheme to manuever your character past cars that are hurtling toward him, alternating between the L and R trigger as fast as you can to save someone who's drowning or using the R stick to make dialogue choices on the fly (you're timed) to hear all you can, the game makes sure to bring you into the story. Its very effective and really ratchets up the tension.

If there is one sore spot in the game its the graphics. While not bad, exactly, they don't necessarily push the Xbox in the way that this last year of Xbox life should. It looks like a first or possibly second generation Xbox game. Artistically the game is good. The characters in the cutscenes move really well and realistically. And there is never a moment of lag or skipping seen in a lot of games today. The character's faces have some nice emotion to them and the graphics aren't stellar, like I said, but they do a decent job. There's a ton of aliasing, however, which is sad.

Another sore spot is the controls. When you are in direct control of your character (i.e. actually moving them as opposed to having control of the cutscenes via button pressing) the game is pretty loose. It reminds me of playing the old Resident Evil games. You have the cinematic camera which causes some confusion as to which direction you should push your character. As a result, you will do a lot of figure 8s in the game which can cause a lot of problems when you have to hide the evidence because a cop is at your door and the timer is going down. Character animation while moving is also very stiff and a big difference from the cut scene animation.

The audio is terrific, however. While the box says the game does not run in 5.1 in game, I think it lies. My receiver lights up whenever 5.1 is being used and its always lit with this game. And it sounds like 5.1 is being used. The voice acting is absolutely wonderful and professional. Each voice matches the character and it helps enhance this feeling of playing a murder mystery movie. With voice acting becoming so important in games today, this is most welcome and really helps sell the game. Musically, the game also excels by using the very talented Angelo Badalamenti to score it. That name might not mean much on the outset but he has created scores to many Hollywood movies including most by David Lynch (Lost Highway, Mulholland Dr., Twin Peaks) but also Dark Water, Arlington Road, etc. The score is absolutely beautiful and moving; it really fits in with what is happening on screen.

What this game does best is meld the story-telling of a movie with the gameplay of video games. It exposes the limitations of both and yet uses the best of both to create an engaging, moving and very interactive story. For me, this game is a perfect building block for video games. I can overlook most of its flaws because it is so different, so exciting and so damn cool. It warrants a 5 star review simply because of what it did. I would most heartedly recommend this game to those who love a good story, like action adventure games and want to be impressed with what video games and movies can accomplish together.

I actually just recently sold my copy when I got this invitation to review. Indigo Prophecy was a pretty fun and interesting game. The story was what sold me and the "choices that affect the game" approach. Much of the gameplay is similar in a way to Shenmue. There's a lot of exploring and minigame sequences for action scenes and forth. Most of these mini games are done like Simon Says and the ever so grueling L and R tappings. These give you somewhat of a sense of realism while playing the game but that doesn't make it too much fun. The fun really comes in having a variety of choices and seeing what happens when you do this or do that. The characters you play as have a mental state meter that goes up or down depending on what happens. Why yawning knocks off 20 points to this is beyond me but overall a neat feature. The story starts off intense and gripping at first but then starts to get strange and seems a bit rushed. I don't want to spoil it for you but you'll see what I mean once certain deaths occur. In any case I'd give this game a rental. It's fun for what it is but the L and R sequences and the storyline at the end doesn't make it a keeper. You should be able to finish it relatively quickly.

I bought the Xbox version of Indigo Prophecy simply because the machine doesn't get all that much use. I prefer adventure/rpg games and they are scarce for the Xbox, to say the least. Unfortunately, the game was clearly written for the PS2 and then ported to the Xbox with little thought about gameplay. This time Atari took a good game and definitely did not make it better.

Let's do the good parts first, since Indigo Prophecy really is a good game on many levels. The game's inner story is based on an actual legend associated with the change of Mayan eras. Into this new era is supposed to be born an 'indigo' child who will come with a prophecy that will grant great power to those who would listen. Add in a lot of human sacrifice and a dollop of paranoid plot to take over not just the world, but the universe, and you have Indigo Prophecy in a nutshell.

Oracles use randomly chosen instruments to carry out sacrifices, and this is the story of Lucas Kane, who suddenly finds himself a murderer and must elude both the police and assassins from a secret clan long enough to find out what happened to him and why he suddenly has strange powers. Pther key characters are Lucas' brother Marcus, and two police investigators, Carla Valenti and Tyler Miles. The player get's to control all of these characters, often in the same episode. The story is good, and the modern noir settings and sound are as well. Where this game runs into trouble is in the action game play and artwork.

Action is managed by to different operations, either following directional sequences displayed on the screen, or in rapid toggling of the two trigger keys. On any of the typical Xbox controllers these operations are more irritating than challenging. Accomplishing significant parts of this game involve being totally focus on the few square inches of screen where the progress of the challenge is displayed. So there you are in the middle of an action sequence and you can actually miss most of the action. It wasn't until I happened to look at my PS2 controller that I realized all this activity would have been much smoother if I had played the PS2 version of the game.

Artwork is low detail even for a PS2 based game, and looks even weaker on an Xbox. This is odd, considering that there isn't a lot of intricate action to eat up computer time that could have been dedicated to graphics. Atari chose to make this game on a slim budget, and the story, while strong, isn't enough to make this a real winner.

Overall, this is a three and a half star game on the Xbox, but a solid 4 on the PS2. Good entertainment, but not particularly memorable.

I've beat this game twice already, and still love the game. You can approach the game from quite a few different levels and do different things.

But overall, this game has an amazing storyline and plot. It keeps you hooked, because you see what happened, then you just have to keep playing because you want to see what happens next in the story. Thats the good thing. The graphics are pretty good. I didnt see no flaws in them. The controls, can be a pain SOMETIMES, but hardly ever. The sound in the game, very good. The sound fits the theme of the game perfectly. Very good on that part.

The game is REALLY fun, the simon says sequences, get you more into the game and the scene thats happening. And talking to people is also fun, when you talk to them you usually have a couple different answers you can answer to their questions. Which sort of reminds me of my favorite game, "Shenmue". But this game is VERY good, and should not be passed up by any gamer.

Indigo Prophecy is an awesome game/interactive movie. As I played I really began to care about the characters. The music and atmosphere are awesome. I only have a few minor complaints. My biggest problem was the left/right button mashing sequences toward the end. It was alright when they were spaced out but the back-to-back ones caused me no small amount of headaches. I got so fed up with this in the last sequence that I just stuck with the mediocre ending instead of trying to get the good one. Overall though, it was an awesome game.

Sure this isn't as complex as the standard PC-based games. However everyone who is even considering buying this game already knows that. Civ Rev is intended to be a scaled-back version of the PC games that gives console players the taste of strategy that is lacking from console games without burdening them with the massive time investment which those games require.

In Revolution you can gain a victory on the same day that you start playing if you play aggressively, and that's not really such a bad thing. Then turn around play as 1 of the many other great historic leaders. If you want a greater challenge, there are difficulty settings and the highest level is far from easy.

In short, the game is fun, looks good and has enough strategy to make it a thinking game without forcing you to clear your weekend plans entirely. Perhaps this was their way of dipping their toes in the console pool and if this game takes off there just may be more complex offerings in the future that are more in line with the PC versions. Until then, have fun and don't go to a Bruce Willis movie expecting it to be Citizen Cane, which is what the 1-star reviewer has essentially done.

This is the type of game I have been waiting to hit the consoles for years. A good strategy game that is not bogged down with too much. Sid Meier has created a game that can get just about any gamer into strategy gaming.

Getting into Civilization Revolution is simple. When you are at the starting menu you can go to the play now option and get into a game quickly. There are five difficulty levels available which make this game available to any type of gamer. I found it best to start on the simplest level to get the gameplay down first. Now more experienced players will probably start at a more difficult level. In the single player setting you can also play the game of the week which is something new to the Civilization series. This setting allows you to play the same Civilization and map as everyone else. It's a good chance to hone your skills and compare yourself to other players. This game also has online play which allows you to take on others in building your civilization to the top. There are four different ways to win a game and most games will take you at least three hours no matter what difficulty level. The four ways to win are financial, cultural, domination, or technology(alpha centurai).

I have found that no matter how good I think I am at this game the style can change drastically from match to match. Just have many different maps and varied civilizations can change the difficulty drastically. Playing on the same difficulty level can have you dominating one time and then getting beat up another time. I have found that no matter what type of way you try to win the game it's always best to have your cities well fortified. When your civilization has become established I have found probably the only real negative. The game has a tendency to get a little bogged down when there is a lot going on. This is unfortunate but is nothing that ruins the game.

Civilization Revolution is a positive step forward on the consoles. Not only do the controls work great but this game feels like it belongs on the PS3. It is easily one of the most addictive games I have played on the PS3. Sid Meier did a excellent job on this game and everyone who enjoys strategy and even those who don't think they are should give this game a try. Although I will say this game is not for everyone and you should try the demo first before making a purchase decision.

I think of this game as "Civ Light". It lacks much of the depth of other Civ games, and seems designed to be easier and faster to play. Some examples: the map is very small, and you have no control over the map size or type. You no longer build roads square by square, but instead create them instantly (for large amounts of money) and only between cities. There are no railroads (roads now act much like railroads).

In terms of gameplay, because the map is so small, it tends to feel very crowded -you'll run into multiple civilizations early on, not too far from where your own settlers begin. Often the whole map will have only one major continent. As a result, it's pretty much a scramble to grab as much of this meager territory as you can early in the game. Then, once you develop a single tank army (by building and combining three tanks), you can pretty much take any city with it, and just walk around the map mopping up. So there is definitely a difficult mid-game phase where you risk losing cities to attacks or culture, but after that there's a pretty long clean-up phase where your win is inevitable.

It's still fun, but as a more shallow game, the fun is likely to wear off a lot sooner than it would with the older, deeper versions of Civ. Still, even a shallow Civ is better than no Civ, so I'm happy to see that it's come to new game systems.

I've been playing Civilization since 1992 when it was available on my high school server for students to play during free time in our computer classes. We knew this new version of the game would be lacking a few things when we read the previews. There is one thing I was not aware would be missing when I purchased the game. The special victories (cultural, domination, economic, technology) have been available in the series for a while now. However, there has always been the ability to uncheck or disable these victories and continue game play. I was VERY disappointed to find that after only four hours of game play that I could not go on any further. This makes it very difficult to make it as far as discovering flight let alone participate in a space race. The lack of all other features is acceptible to me since I get the chance to play Civilization in HD widescreen for the first time (and with a joystick). It's just the fact that I am unable to play the game all the way to when I say I'm done that drives me to give my favorite game ever only four stars out of five. This will be the biggest flaw to be cautious of for long time fans of the game.

P.S. If I am wrong about this flaw and there is a way to turn off these special victories, somebody please let me know!

If you enjoy the old school board game Risk and think the rest of mankind got it all wrong then this game is up your alley. You can choose just what you think is more important. Developing your mind or military might to dominate the world and create it as you see fit. I enjoy this game a lot. The only negative that prevented me from a five star rating is the lack of online competition (so hurry up and buy it) and the fact that the few times i have played online I found it difficult to invite from the friends list. However playing the computer is never the same game and quite enjoyable. Be sure to block off a good three hours to play (defiantly if your playing multi payer)but I promise it's worth the time. Look for bladerunner101, I'd love to play you.

I've never owned a Mad Catz product, I only know that i've never had a Turtle Beach product last me longer than 30 days. I was actually going to give in and get the Turtle Beach Wii U headset, despite being scared of how it looked, when this headset went on sale for the same price.

Anyways I got it in last night, unpackaged it, the only gripe I have is the packaging was interesting to get open. It looks snazzy, but it's not a practical package. Put it on my head and personally I don't know that i've had anything this comfortable before. I have a large head and after a few hours most headsets begin to hurt my ears and the side of my head because they are pressing inward to much. This is not the case with these.

They feel solid, they aren't too heavy, aren't too light, it seems like they could take a decent beating. They are snazzy, the in line mute control is a godsend after i've been stuck using my iphone headset and couldn't mute anything.

the sound coming from them is great, I feel like there are certain limitations because of the power of the wii u gamepad, possibly it could be louder/ just plugged them into my PC and played some stuff with heavy bass it definitely could be better, but with the power output of the wii u headset it's perfectly fine.

I am very pleased with these and i'm glad I snagged them when I did.

We have tried to get many different headphones to work with our WII's. We purchased two New WII U's and these work great with them. The son also uses them on his phone and tablet. they have good fit and sound quality. My son also likes the microphone feature which he uses often during game play. So far these are well worth the money and I would recommend these when looking for headphones for the WII U. They do not work on the regular WII.

I bought this mostly to have a headset for the Wii U despite not really needing it since the gamepad can pick up sound. The only problem with that, is the game bad doesn't seem to have very good noise canceling (you can hear people pushing buttons on their gamepad) and from what i've heard of people actually using it while playing online, the volume is very inconsistent due to how the person is holding the gamepad. The TRITTON Kunai was my solution to that problem, and its a good headset. I like the mic is detachable, and it mostly has a good feel. The top cushioning seems a bit awkward, but I get used to it, and while the sides also don't cover my ears completely, it isn't an issue. The two biggest things I look for in a headset are comfort and durability, this thing excels in the durability department (there is a lot of flexibility with the top) and is ok with comfort. It is not the most comfortable headset I have used (that honor goes to my Arena Soundblaster I still use on my PC) but they aren't the worst in that area as well. For the price, it is a good headset that I would recommend if you need a pair for the Wii U.

My husband and I bought this game for our 7 y/o daughter who loves to sing along with the radio. She really likes Taylor Swift and I thought this would be a perfect game for her. She likes it enough, but I can tell she is a little disappointed that it only has two of Taylor Swift's songs and those two she doesn't even know since they are rather new ones. I wish they would have more songs that you hear quite often. Instead of having songs that you hear every day on the radio, she is left singing the songs she does know over and over again. I mean who (especially a little girl) wants to sing songs that they haven't even heard before? Over all, it is an okay game which she will play every so often.

I bought my Xbox in the beginning of January right after I returned my GameCube console. I purchased the Xbox DVD kit about 2 months after from Amazon.com for [item price]. I already have a DVD player but I wanted this anyway. An actually it plays DVDs better then my regular DVD player. The remote is great in my opinion; it's comfortable, convenient, & filled with features.

What comes in the Kit?

The kit comes with the Xbox DVD Remote. The remote has the basic buttons; play, fast forward, rewind, play, stop, pause, up, down, left, right, select, 0-9, & menu. The remote also comes with some extras like 2x 4x, 6x, 8x, 16x, &32x Fast Forward and Rewind. It has a nice Zoom feature ranging from 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x, & 10x. A B feature is also nice to have for repetitions of a scene, click A B once for the beginning of the scene to repeat and push it one more time to end the scene, it will keep repeating until you press A B again. 2 AAA batteries are required to be purchased separately. The range of the Remote is around 20 to 25ft.

The Receiver also is required to play DVDs. The receiver is a small maybe 2 by 2 inches black square. Where does it go? It plugs into any controller port. What does it do? The Receiver activates the DVD compatibility. How does it work? Plug the Receiver into a slot while the Xbox console is turned off. Insert a DVD into the drive and the movie will automatically boot up like a normal DVD player. The kit also comes with a simple instruction booklet.

So how�s the picture & sound quality...?

The quality of this product was amazingly more then I hoped for, in fact it�s superb! The video playback was smooth, quiet, and vivid. The sound obviously depends on the speakers you have, sounds great on my Philips surround sound stereo system.

Do I recommend this product?

YES. This kit is great even if you already have a DVD player and want another. The Remote kit also doubles as a Audio player, you can use it to playback your Mp3 files on the hard drive, no messing with cords. Remember, you mainly purchased your Xbox for gaming and the DVD playback was just an extra, a great extra at that. This Microsoft DVD kit is definitely High Quality all the way, and that�s why I recommend this product.

Cut MS some slack people. They didn't include DVD functionality via the controllers for some very good reasons:

1) That DVD license is expensive. I'd rather have people who are going to use the XBox as a DVD player to be the ones to subsidise the cost, instead of EVERYONE having to do it, since I already have a DVD player.

2) Sony found out the hard way when they released the PS2 in Japan; a lot of people bought the console JUST for it's DVD playback features, and didn't buy games for it. Now, I'm sure a lot of you know the standard console economic paradigm: lose money on the hardware, make money on the software. Thus, Sony lost big bux when this happened. I can't blame Microsoft for wanting to make sure that doesn't happen with them.

3) This is a PROGRESSIVE SCAN DVD player, which means it's designed for higher quality pictures on HDTV. I don't believe a lot of DVD players on the market are capible of that. Seems like a good deal to me.

I've been suprisingly impressed with the XBox. The graphics are DEFINATELY a cut above the PS2 (which I also own.) I find it telling that the LAUNCH title graphics look better than Sony's latest PS2 games. The hard drive is damn convenient. If there is anything to be angry over, it's those poorly designed controllers (Hint: MadCatz makes a decent replacement.)

In the end, those who are serious about using the Sony as a DVD player are going to buy a remote control kit anyhow (I certainly did) This seems no different to me, in the long and short of it. Microsoft was upfront on the box when they said it required the additional kit. It seems to me that a lot of people giving out the one star are just general Microsoft bashers anyhow.

Very functional, makes you feel like your Xbox is complete. As for the playback quality of the Xbox, couldn't tell the difference between it and the Pioneer DVC-302D that it kicked out of the shelf and being deployed to somewhere else within the house. Of course, you have to connect the Xbox to the Advanced AV pack or High Definition pack with an optical audio cable to get full Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS, and S-Video or Component video inputs as well for video. Not too shabby overall, even considering the lack of eject and power buttons that some people are complaining about. Gotta get up from the couch sometimes. Good for blood circulation.

As mentioned by another reviewer, you can program your universal remote control with the codes for RCA DVD players and the Xbox IR receiver will respond to it. The power button on the universal remote still won't work though, because this particular button will be interpreted as the display button on the Xbox remote. Worth noting too, that my universal remote doesn't have an eject button.

A very cool feature that I found out when playing audio CDs: when the info button is pressed, the mood display in the left panel zooms in to fill the full TV screen. Instant 32" lava lamp! Kinda looks like a mood setting screensaver. Break out the candles, turn off the lights, and let Peter Gabriel crank out!

Lastly, any geek worth his remote will test this baby with the games. After all, it seems like some of the buttons in the gamepad are mapped in and have equivalent buttons in the remote, right? I popped in DOA3 and tried to control it through the remote, but alas, geek mojo ran out. The remote control does not function as a wireless gamepad.

I was very disappointed when I found out that my Xbox did not play DVD's fresh out of the box. The growing trend of selling a system in pieces rather than shipping a complete system is one that I'm not very fond of. As much as these game systems cost, they should have everything you need right in the box.

While I loathed doing so, I eventually bought the DVD playback kit because I was going on a trip and wanted to be able to play movies and games during my down time. As it turns out, I like the Xbox so much as a DVD player that I now use it as my primary DVD player. My previous DVD player was an older model JVC and I've had tons of problems with it. It won't play some DVD's and I've had to take it to be repaired three times, twice in the first year I owned it.

I think the compaints in Amazons review are valid. The lack of an eject button or power button on the remote makes it less convenient, but I have to get up to change DVD's anyway so I don't find that much of a bother. I find the in-movie menu easy to use and an improvement over my JVC which basically makes me do the same thign when I want to change subtitles or lanuages. My biggest problem with the Xbox, and not as big as it may sound: for some reason it won't read some disks when you first put them it. This is easily cured by turning the system on and the off again, and it's only certain disks (Donnie Darko was one, Shreck was another) but I was concerned when it wouldn't read the disk and a bit irritated.

The main reson I replaced my JVC with my Xbox is that I think the picture is better, and clearer. With the HDTV cables hooked up, the picture quality on my Sony Wega is crystal clear. Good transfer DVD's like Star Wars TPM look absolutely incredible. I was really surprised at some of the cool high-end features like the ability to zoom. I can't find any documentation to prove that the Xbox is a progressive scan DVD player, but I do know that when you attach the HDTV cables you are given several options for progressive scan viewing in the video section. My TV is not HDTV compatible (although it has component hookups) and I could not play the DVD's with any of those settings. Even though I haven't read anything about it, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this IS a progressive scan DVD player with HDTV compatibility.

While I don't think the sound is any better than my old DVD player, it's just as good whether playing Dolby surround, Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS.

While I was originally outrgaed at having to buy the ability to do something that I think the system should already be doing (and still do) I do feel like I got my money's worth. The Xbox DVD playback far surpasses the other DVD playing game systems and even most mid to low end DVD players. The reviewers that have said they preferred the PS2 DVD playback boggle my mind. They either don't own an XBox with the full get-up or are loyal PS2 owners and want it to be true. I own a PS2 and it's far inferior when playing DVD's. Not even in the same league in this particular category. The Xbox is still the best deal on the market and is only going to get better.

I loved the original Borderlands and I love this sequel just as much. I'm super stoked to have gotten one of the Ultimate Loot Chest editions too, there's a lot of cool stuff in it! If they make a 3rd game, it's entirely possible that I will completely forget what daylight looks like altogether...

I dont even play computer games but the novel intrigued me in its presentation and book cover. Now, I have heard of this game and its new system coming out and I have tried a few game/novels out and have not been impressed UNTIL NOW! Eric Nylund's writing is great and I already have two other books from him since I read this novel. Mr. Nylund's story telling and bigger than life characters in this book make it clearly above and beyond just a game book. The story starts out with a woman named Dr. Halsey who is creating a super soldier for the future war that is coming in the guise of an alien race that seems unstoppable and unknown to earthlings in any way shape or form. Dr. Halsey and her accomplice Jacob Keyes take a dozen children from orphanages and make them into super beings thru endless surgeries, drugs, and a battle school that is far superior and secret than normal military. The leader, and main character comes from a boy/man they call number 117, or John. John is not the strongest or the fastest, but he has the mind of a leader. The reader then goes on a journey thru these poor kid's boot camp and watch them fail as well as conquer their own fears and others prejudice. This insight and character development, mixed with great action sequences is what saves this novel from being just another fast written game book for the boys. The author's writing style is made for this type of novel and it shows in every space battle as well as groundside wars as well. This novel goes thru about 25 years or so, so you get to follow the kid's growth, as well as some of the other normal humans rise and falls thru the years. The aliens are introduced slowly and revealed for who and what they are in a way that keeps the reader wanting to read more to find out very smart! If you love military space opera with lots of great action with lots of great characters written in then you will find that this is not just another game novel I can't wait for the new book!

The Fall of Reach is a prequel telling the story of humanity's war against a technologically superior race called the Covenant, a mysterious race on a religious crusade to destroy humanity. The story focuses on the hero of the Halo Xbox game and his fellow Spartans, enhanced human beings bred as soldiers for humanity's military and the best chance the humans have for victory in the losing war against the Covenant. The events in the book directly lead into the events in the game.

Even without playing the game, it's a pretty good book by itself. The sci-fi universe created by Bungie (the makers of the game) which Nylund expands on is detailed and believable. Nylund's descriptions of space battles and futuristic militaries are excellent, as well as his portrayals of the human military strategy and tactics while fighting against a superior enemy. The book flows well and is an easy read.

But the book is raised to a new level if you play the game alongside reading the novel. Nylund's otherwise average character development and background instead become outstanding insight into the life of the game's hero and opens your eyes to the bigger picture of the Halo universe. You become truly immersed, which makes both the book reading and video game experience that much more rich.

Sci-fi nitpickers will criticize some of the technological aspects of the Halo universe (for example, it is 500 years in the future where humans have mastered faster-than-light travel and true artificial intelligence, yet soldiers and ships still use solid ammo as their primary weapons), but those issues are minor. Nylund is still able to suspend disbelief. And it doesn't hinder the overall good story.

Overall, good book by itself. But I recommend you play the game as well. If you enjoy the game, then this novel is a must read! I can't wait until the sequel for both!

As many people have said, most books of this type (based on a game) seem to be quickly written and rather unexciting. This book is the exception to the rule. I was rather apprehensive going into this book but found myself hooked very quickly. From the training of the new breed of 'supersoldiers' to the fantastic space and ground battles this book never slows down. The characters are wonderfully well developed, the action is intense and exciting (loved the battle for Sigma Octanus), and the book as a whole is perfectly paced (you'll never say 'it was good, but slowed down a bit in the middle'). If you are planning on playing the game (I'm halfway through it myself) this book is a must read. Even if you don't plan on playing Halo but are a fan of military sci-fi action this book will satisfy. I will also be seeking out Nylunds other novels.

Written as a prequel to the upcoming Xbox game, Halo, you couldn't ask for a better source of background and timeline information with this book. The book borrows heavily from information known about the game, but everything is a completely original story. For example, the same enemy types that appear in Halo are frequently mentioned in the book, which gives a more profound sense of "constant struggle" between the human race and the deadly and ruthless alien species known as the Covenant. I feel this will really make the game an even more immersive experience; by reading this book, you're getting to know a lot of information that you otherwise wouldn't know while playing the game. Caught on a plotline twist or snag? Maybe if you read the book you would understand it a bit more.

The book itself is very well written, and it keeps you immersed in the story page-to-page. The only thing I can really criticize is the fact that some action sequences can get a little repetitive and drawn-out (such as space battles between the humans and the Covenant). It's not enough to make you want to stop reading, though.

I got this book Friday (Nov. 2nd), and finished it Sunday night (Nov. 4th), and it's well over 300 pages. That's how good it is. Of course, you may not be quite as interested in the story if you're not anticipating the game but if you are, this is a definite must-read. I'd suggest to anyone who is looking for the best Halo experience on Xbox come Nov. 15th, get this book as soon as possible, and read the entire thing through before starting the game. I doubt a whole lot from the book will leak into the game, but you never know.

The Fall of Reach tells the origin story of Master Chief Spartan 117. This version is a re-print which takes the original version, supposedly corrects some of the mistakes and adds new content.

If, like me, you already have the original version and are wondering if it's worth buying this as well ... I am undecided.

I have read the original about 5 or 6 times, have the rest of the books in the Halo series too, I've played all the games on X-Box and X-Box 360 and am a HUGE Halo fan. When I heard this was being re-released with corrections and new content, I was hoping it would be re-written so that it would fall in line with the story told by the game, Halo Reach. Sadly, it does not. There are some glaring discrepancies between the two story lines which could so easily have been corrected (I'll put them at the end of the review just in case you would/would not like to know what they are).

Furthermore, the new version still contains errors (i.e. it seems like they have run a spell check but did not proof read the book so, while there are no spelling mistakes, you come across the odd word that is out of place ... but at least you can guess what the word is supposed to be).

I am undecided about the new content. It is basically a series of random excerpts, letters, memos, etc stuck on at the end of the book. I have only read them once, and while some of them feel like they tie in with other parts of the Halo storyline, I cannot pinpoint how or where. There are also a few pictures dotted about the book too.

If you are new to Halo, or have never read the books before, I cannot recommend the series enough. The Fall of Reach, together with Contact Harvest are my personal favourites. The Flood is also a good read as it closely follows the events from the first Halo game (Halo: Combat Evolved). If you have not read or do not own the original version of Fall of Reach, this is the version for you as, I guess, it is the most complete version. If you have already read or own the original version then hopefully what I have written above can help you decide whether or not to get this version too.

****** SPOILER ALERT ******

There are a few discrepancies I noticed between the book Fall of Reach and the game Halo Reach. They are as follows:

* The Pillar of Autumn In the book, The Pillar of Autumn is constructed in space dock and this is where Captain Keyes first enters it. In the game, the Autumn is planetside.

* Cortana In the book, Cortana is already on board the Autumn whereas in the game, Noble 6 brings Cortana to Captain Keyes, who then flies her to the Autumn.

* The Spartans In the book, all bar one of the remaining Spartans (it says in the book that one of them was unable to be recalled due to the mission they were on at the time ... I think this could either be Jorge, who is part of the Halo Reach storyline ... or Kurt as he is off on the Spartan 3 program ... read "Ghosts of Onyx") come aboard the Autumn before going off on their respective missions. In the game, there is no mention of these Spartans ... apart from...

* Spartan in stasis??? On one of the final cutscenes of the game (where Captain Keyes' pelican boards the Autumn), you can pan the screen to the right and you'll get a glimpse of a Spartan in a stasis chamber. Now, I guess this is supposed to be Master Chief. If it is, this does not appear to tie in with the book as, per the book, the Chief does not go into stasis until after his mission to detroy a NAV database, which takes place after the Autumn first launches.

I have a thoery ... a very thin theory ... so thin it's anorexic ... but ... could it be that the Autumn does originally start off in space dock with all Spartans and they go off on their respective missions. Then, somehow, after picking up the Master Chief and Linda (which could mean the Spartan in stasis is Linda), the Autumn has to go planetside so that Cortana can be uploaded with some vital information that is too risky to be transmitted in case the Covenant intercept it. Cortana gets taken to Dr Halsey who uploads the information to her, gives her to Noble 6 who then returns Cortana to Captain Keyes. The Autumn then takes off and does a slipspace jump to Halo.

The way the book was written, the above does not seem possible ... but at least it would help bring some continuity back.

the buttons look great. just the only problem i had with them is the shape of them. i installed them into a legit microsoft controller. so its not an issue with the controller shell. i had to use a razor and shave down the sides of the button on a couple of them along with the guide tabs that keep them in the right position just so they could fit freely in the holes. if you arent really picky like i am and dont mind possibly having to alter these to fit a controller then go for it. i got these along with matching d-pad, bumpers, triggers, analog sticks, and bottom mic port piece. i added them all to my OG white xbox 360 controller. i like it because it kinda reminds me of a storm trooper.

On the one hand, Top Spin can be a fun and addictive tennis game--easily the best on Xbox and, in most respects, more than a match for the classic tennis game, Virtua Tennis. On the other, Top Spin is weighed down by numerous little points of irritation and frustration. Alone, none of them would make a major difference, but when put together, they really hurt the overall product.

First, the good. Top Spin is easy to pick up--if you've ever played any console tennis game, you can get the basics down in a minute or two; and if you haven't, there's a quick and easy tutorial. The controls work well here, with each button hitting a different kind of shot (normal, slice, top spin, lob), and the triggers allowing for more difficult drop and risky shots. The graphics are great, with gorgeous stadiums and nicely animated players. And the career mode is nice, with a create-a-player feature that lets you design even the particularities of your player's face and body type. As you play in career mode, you can develop an individual set of skills for your player. You might want to serve-and-volley, or stay on the baseline and hit with power. Any type of player is easily created.

But Top Spin has too many problems. The handful of licensed (real life) players are powered-up over and above their stats, so that the difficulty level swings wildly between the made-up players you'll face and the real-life ones. Second, the game abuses the risk shot system--obviously, the game doesn't have the same timing issues as a player, and your AI opponent will frequently kill you with perfect risk shot after risk shot. Perhaps most annoyingly, given that the Xbox has a hard drive, you can't quit playing in the middle of a tournament in career mode and come back later--you have to forfeit. Probably for this reason, in career mode, you win a set at 3 games, not 6. This makes the game even more frustrating, because if you're broken by the AI, you have to immediately break-back or the set may well be over.

All told, I enjoy Top Spin, but only in small doses, and not nearly as much as I might have. It remains the best tennis game on Xbox, but if the obvious points of frustration had been solved during development, it might have simply been the best tennis game.

As a major fan of Sega's Virtua Tennis and Tennis 2K2 on the Dreamcast (the latter also appearing on the PS2 as Sega Sports Tennis), I could not wait to get my hands on Power And Magic Development's newest virtual tennis game, Top Spin Tennis. A relatively unheralded console developer, PAM has done a fantastic job taking Sega's amazing formula and attempting to refine it in fact there are aspects of Top Spin that are improvements but despite the online capabilities of Top Spin, the gameplay itself doesn't quite match the fine-tuned perfection of Sega's efforts.

Top Spin was designed from the start to be more of a simulation than the arcade-based Virtua Tennis, and as such has more complex gameplay. Each face button on the Xbox's controller is used for a different kind of shot: A is a "safe" shot, X is a slice, B is an angled top spin shot, and Y is a lob. These shots can also be used to mix up your serves. In addition, each trigger performs a "risk" shot, which can be quite a potent weapon when mastered. The R trigger is used for power smashes, and the L trigger is used for drop shots. As a result, the game doesn't quite have the same instant pick-up-and-play accessibility of Virtua Tennis, but once some time is spent behind the controller, the shots become second nature. Top Spin also features an In The Zone meter, which is basically a power meter meant to simulate adrenaline. Play well, and the meter rises, and once full, risk shots come easier and the player performs at his/her peak. To help with this, you can have your player react in between points, celebrating a great effort or complaining at a missed opportunity.

Top Spin features several modes, including a tutorial, Exhibition for up to four players, and a mode that lets you create a Custom Tournament. Most of your single-player hours will be spent in Career Mode, in which you build your own player using a pretty robust creation system and send him or her out on tour in a quest to become number one in the world. Your player travels from continent to continent, competing in various tournaments, earning sponsorships, and visiting coaches to learn skills. This aspect of Top Spin is closer to an RPG than Virtua Tennis, as you must choose distinct strengths for your character instead of becoming a superhuman performer. It is important in Top Spin to choose skills that will cover up your weaknesses (as you cannot max out all abilities), but it is also possible to become a specialized power baseliner or a quick serve & volleyer. You earn money for match wins, which you can use to purchase more gear and to pay coaches to train you, and victories also assure a rise in rank, but should you lose a match or two, your rank will drop. The Career Mode is a very nice idea, but it doesn't have the imaginative challenges of Virtua Tennis (where you'd serve to knock over bowling pins, etc. etc.) and you can enter any tournament at any time, rather than having to wait a simulated year before retrying. When you add that Top Spin's AI can be easily exploited, the battle to become and stay number one can drag.

Visually, the game is terrific, especially the detail of the courts. Fully polygonal crowds cheer, real-life ads are everywhere in the larger arenas, and cities rise in the background. There are even playground courts ranging from in the middle of the desert to indoor arenas with snow falling outside or joggers out for some morning exercise. Player animation is very well-done, and the licensed players look strikingly lifelike, even down to signature animations (Lleyton Hewitt's serve looks just like it does on TV). However, there are no night courts, the ball boys don't chase the ball, and ambient shadows don't change during play as in Sega's games.

Top Spin's sound package isn't quite as remarkable. Matches can get very quiet with no music or crowd noise only the grunts of the players and the smack of the rackets. It's supposed to simulate real matches, but the option to include music would have been welcome. In addition, crowd noise will suddenly appear as a roar out of nowhere, which can be jarring.

The gameplay itself is good, but doesn't quite measure up to Virtua Tennis or Tennis 2K2. New players will have trouble making risk shots, and as a result, points can be unnaturally long, especially in doubles. Sega's games did a great job allowing many types of shots with just the control stick and a single button, but it's not so easy to pull off a drop shot in Top Spin. Players will often lunge when you don't want them to, and then won't lunge when you DO want them to. Top Spin also is a lot more sensitive when it comes to player position in relation to the ball in order to hit with power, you've got to be in exactly the right position, even after being fully trained. You'd think that a pro player could adjust, but Top Spin is a little too precise. Also, once players get the timing of the risk shots down, matches end up going far too quickly and lose a lot of the sim nature.

Still, even with these slight problems, Top Spin is quite an achievement. It looks great, plays well online or off, and has a deep Career Mode. With a couple of changes, Power And Magic could very well upset Sega's Tennis 2K2 as king of the virtual court.

I have never played tennis before. On the video game or real life. But, I must say I wish I had. I never imagined that I would have so much fun playing tennis. My boyfriend is a fan of tennis and video games. He purchased Top Spin and I couldn't get him from in front of the television. He played for hours hollering and yelling at the game. I wondered what was the big deal. Then I played. I was in for a surprise. I instantly became addicted. At first it took me sometime to get use to the control buttons and understanding the whole game of tennis (My boyfriend acts like my coach when I play.) Top Spin has an awesome gameplay. There are different modes to play. The graphics are good. You can build your player, purchase cloths and tennis equipment. In the career mode, you can become sponsored by Reebok, Yonex, Addidas etc... The sound of the game gives you a feeling that you are at a tennis match. Eventhough this game is very fun, it is also very challenging. As you rank higher and enter different tournaments you play harder and more experienced players. All I have to say is go out and get the game. You will hours of fun. i guarantee you will be holloring and yelling at the television like me.

Im going to try to be as clear as I can, while being completely unproffesional about it; Don't listen to the whiny haters. Those who claim the system is "frustrating, annoying, difficult" and such simply don't know how to play the game or are defficient at games in general. This game IS better than Virtual Tennis. It's more addictive, more fun, fuller, deeper richer, AND with a carreer and online mode that is plain awsome.

If you like a challenge, like pretty visuals, and just enjoy sport games in general, you'll appreatiate all the aspects of this game. With deccent practice one can perform all the super tacticle moves such as the risk shots as smoothly as the A.I in the game, and even if perhaps the difficulty is unstable, it really won't matter once you commit just a few hours into learning the stradegies of the game, and tennis in general.

Top Spin is the only tennis game I have played for Xbox, but it is certainly one of the best. I'll break down the goods and the bads for you:

GOOD

The graphics are THE BEST I have ever seen.

The sound effects are perfect . . . you can here the players groaning and the crowd cheering.

The game contains most of the world's elite tennis players but NO ANDRE AGASSI.

You can play in either smaller tournaments or Grand Slams all across the Globe.

The different types of courts: clay, grass, composite. You can feel the differences in the playing surfaces like you couldn't believe.

You can choose from any type of sponser you want, who will give you free gear the better you get.

You get to train what parts of your game that you feel need improvement.

The controls are easy to learn and easy to use.

You can choose what type of swing you want to put on the ball(lob, slice, normal, top spin, risk shot, or drop shot)

Long career mode in which you create your own player

BAD

You cannot save the game in the middle of tournaments, which means you either have to play all the way through or for-feit.

There is not that much of a difference between the #2 player in the world and the #22 player in the world difficulty wise. They should have made the higher ranked players harder to beat.

Xbox Live was Big Disappointment.

With the goods easily outranking the bads, I strongly suggest you buy this game. Its fun to play and provides great entertainment.
