My name is Christian Hunter, and I'm a complete gaming physco. I've played every popular first person shooter since Doom and Rise of the Triad (I spent collectively 2 years of my life playing Quake 2). Yes I'm sick, but you can probably trust my opinion on gaming...This one has been my favorite FPS for the past year.

There are 2 very important reasons you should buy this game:

1. It's an exceptional WWII FPS

Jaw dropping graphics (that don't crush the average players system), the ability to be infantry of various unique types, then jump in any one of numerous vehicles, then jump into any number of different aircraft. Totally flexible, insanely fun, very popular too (good for multiplayer gaming).

2. It's an even better modern-day-warfare FPS!

What you say! Yep, Battlefield 1942 has the most popular "mod" (game modification, meaning the game has been redesigned around a new theme, etc..) of 2003; Desert Combat. Desert Combat uses the same fantastic engine as 1942 but is set in modern time. Helicopter Gunships, SCUD missile launchers, A-10 Tank Killers dropping naughty explosive goodness!!!! Why am I writing this review, I should be playing!

Ok, once you own the game, you can go to to download the free mod for it.

Hope this review was helpful.

Enjoy...!

The multiplayer demo of this game, which just has 1 map, 2 sides, and not all of the vehicles from each of those sides, has already proved to be extremely addicting and fun to play.

There's just so much you can do and so many possibilities, since you can jump into and out of any vehicle instantly and play as one of 5 infantry classes. Even your infantry class selection is flexible, because you can quickly drop your current kit and pick up a dead infantry's kit from the ground, effectively changing your infantry class on the fly.

Also, the weapons and vehicles are all very well balanced. For example: the rocket that the bazooka/anti-tank infantry class fires doesn't do much damage to infantry, unless if it's a direct hit. This makes players have to choose the best kit for what they want to do, and ,unlike Quake and other action games, rocket launchers wont dominate all aspects of combat. They are, however, good at what they're meant to do: destroy tanks, with their shaped-charge explosives. Just the way everything fits together is so beautiful, and there's always a counter for every weapon and vehicle.

The gameplay is so open ended that you can get pretty creative. I've done things throwing all my explosive packs into a japanese jeep (as an engineer), getting my detonator ready, driving to an enemy base or battle, jumping out of my jeep and letting it roll into the middle of enemies, and then blowing it up to get a few kills (especially when they get inside to drive it while my explosives are still in it, hehe) and other crazy things.

The demo has already become the 2nd most played game on GameSpy, beating all others except Half-Life (which has a ton of mods since it's been out so long), so there will probably be a large playerbase, making finding servers easy.

The system requirements may be a little steeper than some other games, but it is well worth it, and the game runs beautifully. (I can run the demo, all graphics options maxed at 1024x768 32bit, on my athlon 1.4 ghz 512mb ram GeForce4 ti4200 128mb at a smooth and high framerate) The models are very well detailed, you can see the eyes on the infantry moving and blinking, and their mouthes opening and closing. The level of detail system allows this by scaling down the polygon counts and stuff as vehicles and infantry get further away from you, and increasing details as things get closer to you, so there's no wasted visual performance.

This game is like many games in one, and has something for everyone that likes action or war games. My favorite genres are action games and flight sims, and the way this game mixes it all together, in an accessible, balanced, and action packed sort of way, is perfect.

The place...Europe and the Pacific...the backdrop...the world at war! In Battlefield 1942 the action of the Second World War comes to life. Take command of an infantry soldier and from their, build your own image of war! Jump into the seat of a Sherman, grab a jeep, hop into the cockpit of a Me-109, sail a battleship, or just remain as a soldier on foot wreaking havoc on the enemy! This game lets you do it all, the game play system makes even the most computer inept people masters at the game, no realism to deal with, jump out of your plane and parachute to the ground, commandeer an enemy tank and roll down the road plastering anything you see! Once your number is up...do it again!

After the debacle that was World War Two Online, many of the WW2 gamers fell away from the respected titles that followed, and Battlefield 1942 offers the same that WW2OL offered, but this time it doesn't intend on making the same mistake! There will be no pay-to-play requirement (no need for internet at all with the bot program!) The game gives a reliable system that will allow the player to achieve what they really play these games for in the first place...to have fun!

The game will get people back into World War 2 and will have them begging for more! Though the game is labeled "1942" it takes place at any given time during the war, with technology that would have existed not until 1944, but there is no need to look down on the game for such a small oversight! The battles that you fight in will be ones that any WW2 aficionado will recall with little trouble, Tobruk, Stalingrad, Normandy, Market Garden, Midway, Guam, and fictional Pacific and European battlefields to boot! The game also sports a single player campaign as a sort of introduction to how it works as well as recognizing the fine AI the game employs.

There is no ten minute walks to get in the fight, no time consuming loads after you die, no technical capture points systems, or realistic vehicle specifications. You play the game like any game, point and click, watch and enjoy! With the World War 2 backdrop, this game will reintroduce the word "war" to the gamers vocabulary with whole new meanings...I hope you will enjoy this game as much as I will!

Honest reviews on Battlefield: 1942 - PC

Battlefield 1942 has seen extroardinary growth in its short time on the PC. Already, it's online numbers have passed up other popular WWII first-person shooters such as Medal of Honor. While it's nowhere close to Half-Life's online population yet, it probably resembles Half-Life's early life more so than other shooters. The game is quickly building a large custom mod community just like Half-Life did and popular themes such as modern desert combat that were never part of the original WWII theme have already built a life of their own. Before you get too excited, there is one important thing to know about this game it's really only meant for online multiplayer. You can play the game offline by yourself but it's boring with a capital B. And if you truly want to experience the best maps and servers in BF1942, you'll need a high-speed connection such as DSL or cable. If you don't have this connection, don't even bother buying the game because it's not worth it. It doesn't have a typical single player campaign like most shooters, it's basically a platform for large maps and epic WWII shoot 'em outs. Epic as in 64+ player maps, all-out vehicle combat including fighter planes, battleships, submarines, infantry, tanks and jeeps ALL in the SAME battle! The game has never flowed as smooth as other online shooters for me, and I found more lag issues with BF1942 than other recent games, but I hear EA has been busy patching up most of the frequent problems. One unfortunate selling practice with EA though is that they tend to release plenty of expansions for any popular title. Honestly though, I don't know if you really miss that much sticking with the original BF1942. As I stated earlier, there is already a huge custom mod community for this game so even those with only the game itself can experience new maps and game formats. There are already plans for official Vietnam and Star Wars themed games that use the BF1942 engine. This game will be around for a while and if you enjoy the system of play, you'll definitely get your money's worth.

Battlefield 1942 is by far and away the best multiplayer game out. Counter-Strike held this title and paved the way for a game like this, but the immense maps and multiple options (Driving tanks, jeeps, APCs; Flying fighters, dive bombers, heavy bombers; Manning ships, coastal guns, anti-aircraft)

Including the option to be different types of soldiers (assault, engineer, medic, scout, anti-tank), this game blows away all others.

Teamwork is the name of the game, if you are really interested in winning the maps. You can go RAMBO and try to wipe out the enemy by yourself, however you will usually only result in eliminating more of the enemies then you, and most of the objectives (IE: strategic markers) will fall to the team playing in unison.

Gameplay is excellent, especially taking into account all the simultanious action going on in such a large map. Realism is right there with the fun factor, just the right blend.

The only real drawbacks are the components necessary to run the game. If you are thinking of buying this game, seriously consider purchasing a new video card first. The GeForce MX cards are compatible, however you will need to make some tweaks to the configuration of the game and/or the card itself in order to have satisfatory play. That means you miss out on some of the features that you could have, like full detailed textures and shadowing, etc. Its not a major difference but big enough in my opinion to suggest upgrading your video card. Get a GeForce Ti card (IE: GeForce 3 Ti 200, or better) or an ATI Raideon card. Also if you are running Windows 98/Me, you should consider upgrading to 2000 or XP. The machine should realisticly have at least 256MB of Ram and be running a processor speed of at least 1.0Ghz. Those are baselines, my machine is 2.0Ghz and has 1.0GB of RDRAM with a GeForce 3 Ti200.

Many people have also complained that playing with dial-up (56k) is a waste of your time. I cannot say one way or another. I have a cable modem and have never tried dial-up. The game claims it will support dial-up, although I would doubt it could be anything but laggy. If you want to play this game on dial-up, try to get your computer specs as close to what I wrote, then at least your not lagging out on both sides (your connection, and your system). You can still play effectively with a latency of less than 300ms, however your gameplay will seem choppy at times.

Battlefield 1942 was just was I was dreaming for, and then it came. I am very happy with this game!

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give NBA Live 14 a 7. This game is not nearly as bad as everyone is making it out to be. There is room for improvement, but I think the core game is a good one.

The first thing a sports simulation needs to get right, in my opinion, is making you feel like you're part of the league. I don't mean there needs to be a good rising star mode where you put yourself in the game; I've never like those modes. What I'm talking about is your team fitting in statistically with the rest of the players and teams. If a game can't do that, then it's failing at a basic level. NBA Live 14 is perfect in this regard. After 10 games, my Cavaliers are a middling team that doesn't really stand out in any area... at the same time, I'm not a bottom dweller in any statistical category either. The one category that I was falling behind in, assists, is something I've been able to correct as I've learned the nuances of the gameplay.

On the subject of gameplay, this is a very competent simulation of basketball. Is it perfect? No, but the harsh criticism it is receiving is undeserved. The defenders and offensive players do not simply stand around. Players who move off the ball in real life move off the ball in this game. Defenders react to your movements and have their own strategies for keeping you away from the hoop. Strategies I've tried with success include driving to the hoop and then kicking out to a shooter who has intelligently moved into a spot up position, pick and rolls used to gain extra assists and using picks to get my own shots. I've been getting the fundamentals down and haven't really gone into preset plays other than to see that they do not have overlays over the court.

Some criticism that has been aimed at this game include saying your shots get blocked too frequently, the shooting is difficult, the free throw shooting is difficult. The only time I've been blocked, literally, is when I'm trying to force a shot. Otherwise, I have used pump fakes, step backs or picks to create space for my shots. If I've tried to force my way inside or shoot as time was running out, yes, I've been blocked. Each shooter seems to have their own shot animation, so it does take a couple of attempts to get it down with certain players, but, as in real life, the general rule of thumb is to release the shot at the highest point of the players jump. With this strategy, my team is shooting in the low 40s from 2 and 3 point range. Foul shooting is essentially the same except the players aren't jumping and you have to follow their arms to know when to release... It is basically the highest point of the shooting motion. As a team, I am shooting mid 70s from the free throw line. Looking at the real NBA stats for the Cavs this year, they shoot 42% from 2, 34% from 3 and 76% from the line. NBA Live 14 is about dead on accurate using that as a comparison. I must say that Kyrie Irving has my lowest shooting percentages from 2 and 3 point range, but that is because I use him in isolation and he's the one who usually has the ball when I'm forcing the issue as time winds down. Those who've had their shots created for them by Kyrie's penetration have the higher shooting percentages. My strategy to raise Kyrie's shooting percentages have been to force less shots, create for others and take his shots as they come to him. In my last two games his assists are up and his shot percentage has been around 50% while only losing a point or 2 off his average.

Bugs. The only bugs I've encountered are the crowd sound cutting out in the daily challenges and a computer controlled opponent standing still until the shot clock expired. The sound has only cut out once on me and the player standing still has only happened on two possessions in roughly 12 games played.

Graphics. Player faces are a slight letdown. I haven't seen a character model that looks nothing like the real life person, but they all do seem kind of off. They could be more realistic and the eyes need some work. Those who say the game isn't detailed must not play long enough for the players to start sweating or look at the models up close. This game has the most accurate player tattoos I've ever seen. Arenas are very accurate, right down to having different lighting in different venues. The Knicks Arena is lit much differently than that of the Thunder.

In conclusion, everything I've said here points to this being a realistic simulation. I think it's a solid 7. Areas I'd like to see improved are transitional animations, I think plays should overlay the court like they do in Madden, I think some players should have a quicker first step and I think the player faces should be more realistic. Do that and I'd rate the game in the mid 8s. To get into the 9s, the series needs a revolutionary feature, but I don't know what that would be. Maybe player creation that allowed you to use EA's Gameface tech and the ability to create your own plays for starters.

...

It's worth mentioning that I did play the demo before opening the copy I had already purchased just in case it was as bad as people were saying. I was very excited when I started playing the demo and couldn't wait to put my copy in and get started. I also got Forza 5 and Madden at launch and I've played this the most by far.

This game is better than everyone says. I read the reviews and I ended up originally buying NBA 2K instead. I was amazed by the graphics. There were several things I was tired of with 2K but I sucked it up to get the overall good experience.

I watched a gameplay video and it actually looked really good.

Then it hit me. This game only looks good when you actually know HOW TO PLAY.

In most reviews you see people getting blocked in the post, because the reviewers didn't even bother learning how to play in the post. They didn't even use the proper controls to back down. Once I learned the controls I started scoring half my points DOMINATING with Demarcus Cousins like in real life.

I was tired of NBA 2K being super fast. The game is WAY faster than real life. This game has a good game speed to me.

Everyone acted like the commentary was horrible, but so far I've enjoyed it. NBA 2K's commentary always repeated the same thing over and over to me. So while they filled all of the "gaps" they filled it with the same thing I heard last game. Hearing new commentators is very refreshing to me.

The flaws:

Yes, when the ball bounces off of the hoop it looks funny. Some passing animations are a little funny too. Some of these things look like they were fixed with Live's original update.

While some people claim the AI will stand there and not even shoot, I haven't seen that. Again, possibly that was without the update EA pushed out.

Also as you know, the graphics on this game are subpar. NBA 2K14 has MUCH better graphics overall. However, the graphics are not HALF AS BAD as they say. On my TV NBA Live looks very good. The player models may not look "next gen" but they are definitely an upgrade over the PS3 or the 360. The court looks great, and the net looks great.

But EA has promised to push BIG updates to improve graphics AND animations. Those are the games two major issues.

I think the game is playable now and very enjoyable. It will only improve with the updates.

So if you love NBA 2K and have no issues, I wouldn't recommend getting Live, you will probably be disapointed.

But if your like me, and you got tired of:

Not having control of your player (in 2K people spam the steal button, and you lose control of your player often)

Repetitive Commentary

And if you miss the "feel" of live from the old days. This is a good game to get.

It's still a little stiff and has work to do. But it will get there. I was confident enough to sell my NBA 2K game and buy Live.

In reality it may be a 4 star game, but these 1 star reviewers who just bash and go play 2K give awful reviews, they need to be balanced out.

Best Deals for NBA Live 14 - Xbox One

This game isn't fun. The shooting stinks. There is no practice options or some thing like street ball to learn each players shot. I was a huge NBA Live fan and this was a huge let down. If i was you i would just go with 2k14 hopefully 2k15 will be better then this game.

Honest reviews on NBA Live 14 - Xbox One

All I can say is wow. EA had 3 years to readjust it's self knowing it had a tough competition taking on 2K and this is what they created? This game would be mediocre at best on the original XBOX. The graphics are just plain choppy and ugly. Also the gameplay mechanics are atrocious. Don't even bother backing down in the post, you will always get blocked. I kind of had a feeling this game would be bad since in the previous months there has been no actual gameplay footage shown and they did not let any review sites get there hand on this. EA is trying to dupe you all in to thinking this is gold. Do yourself a favor and don't support this crap and get NBA 2K14

Not as bad as everyone says it is but I guess it depends the individual. True the graphics aren't up to par with 2k but I value gameplay over seeing a guys sweat and stuff. Just hope EA keeps their end with the updates. Suggest playing demo before purchasing though.

I bought this headset because I had the old X11's and wanted to upgrade to wireless because the wire for the X11 is ridiculously long and was never needed for my gaming since I play about 5 feet away from my tv.

Let me just say this headset is great. I read a bunch of reviews before I bought it because I wanted to be sure it would be worth the $100 price tag. I read complaints from people saying that it produced static constantly and others saying the game sound or voice chat drops out a lot. This worried me but I ended up trying them out anyway.

I've owned the X32's for a good month now and as of yet I haven't had a single technical issue that made me question my purchase. So I'll keep the review nice and simple:

Pros:

+For the most part a very solid connection. The headset's wireless capabilities are very reliable.

+Sound is very clear and voice chat is incredibly audible. The difference from this and a typical headset it very easy to notice. I now can't stand to chat online with a regular mic.

+Has an auxiliary connection for mobile devices. I love this for listening to music while I play. The game sounds, chat and music all blend perfectly.

+Nice battery life. I bought some rechargeable batteries so I'm set for a long time. I get a good 20+ hours of use before the headset tells me to change the batteries.

Cons

-It does produce a few minor hiccups in connection that last no more than around 3 seconds every once in a while.

-I decided to list this as a con even though it doesn't bother me one bit. It does produce static if the volume is cranked up high and there isn't constant sound coming in. So if you're watching a movie with the volume up it will have some static during the quiet parts. But I don't play or watch anything with the volume high enough for the static to be an annoyance.

^^^Others may find this extremely annoying though.

-It can become a bit uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. But this could just be me.

-Although the chat and game sounds are vivid, it does often take me some time to adjust the two volumes to get a good balance. If this is not done, I have trouble hearing my friends over the game or hearing the game over my friends' voices. But this is easy to fix.

-A few other very minor and insignificant annoyances that don't hinder the experience whatsoever for me. An example is that people you are chatting with can hear pretty much any noise around your mic. So if there's a window open next to you with a loud noise outside, they will probably be able to hear it.

Hope this helps you decide if these are for you. I didn't have any issues because my setup is very simple and there isn't much room for error or interference with the sounds. More complex setups may encounter issues that I don't have. All I know is that they work wonders for me.

I bought this a week ago at a local retailer and have LOVED being able to play without disturbing anyone.

So, for the review:

The headset is very comfortable. It fits my big head very well, and the padded top does not "dig in" to your head like most headsets do. The ear cups also are comfortable around my ears, and I haven't had any issues whatsoever with them.

Bass/Treble/Mids Surprisingly clear and loud. Bass sounds really good and deep to be coming from such small speakers.

Chat: great! the boom mic is very clear and folds out of the way when not in use (like all of them).

Setup: pretty easy. I just used the included splitters for audio, and plugged the transmitter into the xbox USB port. It comes pre-paired with the transmitter and headset, so don't do what I did and attempt to re-pair the two! That is actually my biggest complaint. Pairing per the instruction manual never worked for me. I had to turn off headset, hold down the transmitter "pairing: button until it rapid flashed, then hold down the headset "on" button for 6 seconds until it beeped (not the normal on/off beep!!!). After that the unit paired.

I've read some people having issues with a hiss or whine on the older wireless headsets, but I have not had any issues with this one.

Hope my review helped! I would buy these again in a heartbeat.

Best Deals for Turtle Beach Ear Force X32 Digital Headset - Xbox 360

I love the sound quality and microphone quality of this headset. They fit comfortably and being able to use them without having a wire going from your headset to your Xbox is a huge plus. Please note, you do have a wire that goes from your headset to the xbox controller, just like the plain Microsoft headsets that come with some of the consoles.

The most annoying thing was getting them setup. As someone else said in another review, the instructions in the manual for "pairing" the headset and transmitter are incorrect. Go to turtle beach's website, and on their knowledgebase, pick this headset model, and there will be an article called NO GAME AUDIO, with a pdf attached titled the same. Follow the instructions there. Once I had the headset and transmitter paired correctly, I was still not getting game audio. I had to adjust a setting on my HDTV to make the "audio out" ports work, and then it worked perfectly.

But once they are finally working its worth it. Great audio quality in terms of both game audio and chat audio, and your voice will sound better to the peeps you are chatting with. Very happy with my purchase.

Honest reviews on Turtle Beach Ear Force X32 Digital Headset - Xbox 360

I bought this headset to replace my old set of Turtle Beach x41 headphones, since they had recently broken and I wanted something to fill the gap until the release date of the x42s.

The headset itself is of good quality and is on par with what I had in the x41s, although I was a bit disappointed that it was only offered as a RCA input style. The sound effect modulators that are built in also do a fairly good job of boosting bass/treble and adjusting the sound field without becoming overwhelming, although certain combinations of the two can get quite loud.

I had two major problems with this headset that caused me to return it.

First and foremost, there is a constant mechanical buzzing or hum in the left earphone whenever you are not perfectly aligned with the transmitter base. I found that if you were at a certain distance and position from it (i.e. within 3 feet and straight in front of it, destroying the purpose of a wireless headset) that this effect was nearly non-existent, but the other 99% of the time it completely detracted from the game audio and even began to give me headaches. I tried removing all sources of possible wifi signal interference and even tried plugging the headset into a USB-AC adapter yet I still got the buzz. Very disappointing, and I'm surprised that TB would allow a product to go to market with that problem, given the quality of their other headsets I've used.

Second, the game audio would occasionally completely disappear for random periods of time (anywhere from 10 seconds to a full minute), yet chat would still work, suggesting some sort of connection issue. Again, I tried removing all outside sources of wifi interference with no luck. I understand that the nature of this technology is going to cause some interference, but it happened too frequently for my liking.

I would expect these kinds of issues from a lower-tier headset manufacturer or one that's new to the industry, so needless to say I was not impressed with this headset. I'm hoping the x42s will be an improvement, as the x41s were generally amazing.

Having used professional headsets most of my life I certainly was disappointed when the maximum freq. response was only 20kHz on this headset. However, the crystal clear audio, flexible high-gain microphone, chat monitor and easy wireless setup easily outweigh the cons here. While I don't doubt that some people have experienced genuine issues with wireless interference, I have routers and wireless audio equipment (professional grade) and cell phones in a small room, and through the wall this headset works in the lounge with ZERO buzzing, clipping or interference. It leads me to believe a lot of it is user error, but there are probably genuine cases mixed throughout.

Overall, this is NOT a professional or even that high-end headphones considering the driver size is 50mm but the frequency response is so low. However, for the purpose they serve at the cost they come at...I can't find a good reason NOT to own these if you play any amount of Xbox in an environment where quiet is key, or up late after-hours.

Side note: The build quality on this headset is a fantastic example of quality construction and comfortable wear. These are easy to wear for hours on end.

Please take the 1-star review with a grain of salt.

Sure this isn't as complex as the standard PC-based games. However everyone who is even considering buying this game already knows that. Civ Rev is intended to be a scaled-back version of the PC games that gives console players the taste of strategy that is lacking from console games without burdening them with the massive time investment which those games require.

In Revolution you can gain a victory on the same day that you start playing if you play aggressively, and that's not really such a bad thing. Then turn around play as 1 of the many other great historic leaders. If you want a greater challenge, there are difficulty settings and the highest level is far from easy.

In short, the game is fun, looks good and has enough strategy to make it a thinking game without forcing you to clear your weekend plans entirely. Perhaps this was their way of dipping their toes in the console pool and if this game takes off there just may be more complex offerings in the future that are more in line with the PC versions. Until then, have fun and don't go to a Bruce Willis movie expecting it to be Citizen Cane, which is what the 1-star reviewer has essentially done.

This is the type of game I have been waiting to hit the consoles for years. A good strategy game that is not bogged down with too much. Sid Meier has created a game that can get just about any gamer into strategy gaming.

Getting into Civilization Revolution is simple. When you are at the starting menu you can go to the play now option and get into a game quickly. There are five difficulty levels available which make this game available to any type of gamer. I found it best to start on the simplest level to get the gameplay down first. Now more experienced players will probably start at a more difficult level. In the single player setting you can also play the game of the week which is something new to the Civilization series. This setting allows you to play the same Civilization and map as everyone else. It's a good chance to hone your skills and compare yourself to other players. This game also has online play which allows you to take on others in building your civilization to the top. There are four different ways to win a game and most games will take you at least three hours no matter what difficulty level. The four ways to win are financial, cultural, domination, or technology(alpha centurai).

I have found that no matter how good I think I am at this game the style can change drastically from match to match. Just have many different maps and varied civilizations can change the difficulty drastically. Playing on the same difficulty level can have you dominating one time and then getting beat up another time. I have found that no matter what type of way you try to win the game it's always best to have your cities well fortified. When your civilization has become established I have found probably the only real negative. The game has a tendency to get a little bogged down when there is a lot going on. This is unfortunate but is nothing that ruins the game.

Civilization Revolution is a positive step forward on the consoles. Not only do the controls work great but this game feels like it belongs on the PS3. It is easily one of the most addictive games I have played on the PS3. Sid Meier did a excellent job on this game and everyone who enjoys strategy and even those who don't think they are should give this game a try. Although I will say this game is not for everyone and you should try the demo first before making a purchase decision.

I think of this game as "Civ Light". It lacks much of the depth of other Civ games, and seems designed to be easier and faster to play. Some examples: the map is very small, and you have no control over the map size or type. You no longer build roads square by square, but instead create them instantly (for large amounts of money) and only between cities. There are no railroads (roads now act much like railroads).

In terms of gameplay, because the map is so small, it tends to feel very crowded -you'll run into multiple civilizations early on, not too far from where your own settlers begin. Often the whole map will have only one major continent. As a result, it's pretty much a scramble to grab as much of this meager territory as you can early in the game. Then, once you develop a single tank army (by building and combining three tanks), you can pretty much take any city with it, and just walk around the map mopping up. So there is definitely a difficult mid-game phase where you risk losing cities to attacks or culture, but after that there's a pretty long clean-up phase where your win is inevitable.

It's still fun, but as a more shallow game, the fun is likely to wear off a lot sooner than it would with the older, deeper versions of Civ. Still, even a shallow Civ is better than no Civ, so I'm happy to see that it's come to new game systems.

Honest reviews on Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution - Playstation 3

I've been playing Civilization since 1992 when it was available on my high school server for students to play during free time in our computer classes. We knew this new version of the game would be lacking a few things when we read the previews. There is one thing I was not aware would be missing when I purchased the game. The special victories (cultural, domination, economic, technology) have been available in the series for a while now. However, there has always been the ability to uncheck or disable these victories and continue game play. I was VERY disappointed to find that after only four hours of game play that I could not go on any further. This makes it very difficult to make it as far as discovering flight let alone participate in a space race. The lack of all other features is acceptible to me since I get the chance to play Civilization in HD widescreen for the first time (and with a joystick). It's just the fact that I am unable to play the game all the way to when I say I'm done that drives me to give my favorite game ever only four stars out of five. This will be the biggest flaw to be cautious of for long time fans of the game.

P.S. If I am wrong about this flaw and there is a way to turn off these special victories, somebody please let me know!

If you enjoy the old school board game Risk and think the rest of mankind got it all wrong then this game is up your alley. You can choose just what you think is more important. Developing your mind or military might to dominate the world and create it as you see fit. I enjoy this game a lot. The only negative that prevented me from a five star rating is the lack of online competition (so hurry up and buy it) and the fact that the few times i have played online I found it difficult to invite from the friends list. However playing the computer is never the same game and quite enjoyable. Be sure to block off a good three hours to play (defiantly if your playing multi payer)but I promise it's worth the time. Look for bladerunner101, I'd love to play you.

Reviews of ABBA You Can Dance

ABBA You Can Dance

My wife is a great fan of the Just Dance Series and she just loves the ABBA musical Mamma Mia!. Whenever she is feeling under the weather, she pops the movie in and after a short while she is singing along. So, picking this as a present for her was an easy choice for me. And it sure got me brownie points...

GIMME! GIMME! GIMME A MODE AFTER MIDNIGHT!

There is a number of modes, I am sure you will find the one for you. There is, of course the classic Dance Mode, where you get to follow the dancing figures on the screen, trying to match their moves holding the Wiimote in one hand (only one is required corresponding to the gloved hand of the dancer). There is also a Story Mode, where you get to participate in a mini-musical with ABBA, enhanced with their original music videos, snippets from their tours and numerous pictures. And then there is the Karaoke!

I AM A MARIONETTE!

What is the use of having an ABBA dancing exergame if one cannot sing along, right? Well, this game got you (almost) covered. In the Karaoke Mode the lyrics appear under the dancing figures and they get highlighted with the rhythm in order for your to sing along. It is a very fun mode, one clearly missing form the other JUST DANCE games if it was not for the issue of the missing microphone.

MONEY! MONEY! MONEY!

For the karaoke to function properly you will clearly need a microphone (such as the Logitech Wii Vantage USB Microphone, the Logitech Microphones for the Wii or even the Nintendo GameCube & Wii Microphone) as, unfortunately, NONE is included. We had to order one separately. Of course, until it too arrived, my wife was far from discouraged from simply singing along anyway!

This is where the game looses the perfect score, though: the karaoke mode is a major selling point so UBISOFT deciding not to include the required microphone (which is essential in fully enjoying the game) was a bad (and cheap, I might add!) marketing decision.

TAKE A CHANCE ON ME!

Once you solve the missing microphone issue, you will be having tons of fun with this game. I always liked their sound yet I was never a huge fan of the ABBA. Nevertheless, I caught myself not a small number of times singing along their happy tunes as well. What can I say, their pop 70's mentality is obviously infectious!

RECOMMENDED!

So we get four friends together along with this new Abba Dance game, four "mature" women who would certainly be Broadway stars if only we had the time and lived in New York and didn't have other jobs or families. (And if we could sing!) This game has some challenging moves, but after a few sips of wine it's time to discover our hidden talents so we pick up our Wiimotes and throw ourselves into the rhythms of "Dancing Queen" and try not to throw ourselves into the coffee table. At first we're barely moving in the same direction with the dancers onscreen and we're jabbing each other with errant elbows or outstretched arms a beat too late. But we're determined! After several times practicing this song (and a few more sips of Chardonnay) we're into it. We're not only moving along with the dancers on the screen, but we're all moving together, in the same direction. Not hitting each other. We're good. Darn good!

At the next gathering of friends and family, we bide our time before making our debut. Everyone has finally arrived. Food and drinks flow and everyone is having fun catching up on each other's lives. Our eyes meet over the crowd. It's time. We turn on the Wii, take our places in front of the big screen, all four of us. The music begins. "You can dance, you can dance! Having the time of your life..." The room becomes quiet except for the music blaring from the Abba Dance game over the TV's speakers. In almost perfect (well, somewhat coordinated) moves we begin our dance routine, following the dancers on the screen, our singing a little shy at first but gathering steam as everyone watches, mouths open, amazed when they suddenly realize that we can dance! We're amazing! Everyone (who isn't rolling their eyes) joins in the singing with the lyrics on the screen. We are stars, at least in our own family room! We collapse at the end, laughing our heads off. Other guests pick up the Wiimotes to try. While we probably won't quit our day jobs just yet, we vow to get together again in the following weeks to practice some other songs in the game in time for the next party. Since there are 26 of them, we should be kept busy (and exercising) for a long time.

There's a reason these dance games are so popular and I think it's because it's a great way to get some great exercise in a fun way. And anyone can learn the dance moves and routines if you do them often enough. When you're dancing alone, striving for high scores makes it easy to keep the motivation going so it's a form of exercise you look forward to, rather than putting it off. (And you can sing as loud as you want!) Two thumbs up for this fun game!

Best Deals for ABBA You Can Dance

I am 27, I own 4 other wii dance games by Ubisoft, and I love all of them. I also love ABBA. This ABBA game is leaving me a bit disappointed. The moves are just way too easy for me. In most of the songs you just stand in one place and wave your arms around. The dance moves for each song are quite repetitive as well. Once you are 30 seconds into the song, you've already seen all the moves you will be doing. I like my dancing games to have some footwork as well as arm work, instead of just standing in place.

After playing this game for an afternoon, I must conclude that the target audience for this game is older adults, and that is why they made the dance moves so simple. They probably figured that most ABBA fans are probably older. (Not the case for me and my friends, but whatever.)

So, if you are perhaps a middle-aged person that wants to get some exercise, and you love ABBA, this game would be perfect for you because you don't have to be a great dancer, and the moves aren't very fast. I got 5 stars on every song on the first try, so I think the wiimote is good at picking up your movements, too. The scoring is much more lenient than Just Dance or the Michael Jackson Experience. Even if you don't get the move completely right, it will still give you a perfect score.

One other issue I have is that on the four person songs, there are no pictograms to show you what to do, so it makes those ones a little confusing at first. I'm not sure why they don't have them, I guess it wouldn't fit on the screen or something?

So just to recap: this game is probably great for beginners, older adults, and maybe younger kids too. More experienced dancers will probably be bored, even if you do love the songs.

Honest reviews on ABBA You Can Dance

I wasn't certain about buying this game, as the reviews were so-so. But, I'm older, and not in the best condition. After an unhappy visit with the doctor I decided to change my slothful ways & give it a go. ABBA is like The Carpenters...even if you don't like them that much it's amazing how many of their songs you actually know. It's perfect for me. Easy moves, still got my heart rate up, following the model is an interesting exercise in hand/eye coordination. I imagine you get better as you learn the moves. I like that I didn't have to go out into the cold to do it, nobody else was here to see what I look like when I dance except for the cat who took refuge under the chair. She probably thought I was having a seizure or something. I enjoyed it. I can't really do the yoga bits on Wii fit & I find the cardio stuff kind of boring. So, this is something to put into the mix. If you're looking for a way to ease into exercise you'll do OK with this one.

It's similar to a "Just Dance" except with all ABBA dancers & songs. In the Dance mode, there are pictograms, lyrics, gold moves, "x, ok, good, perfect" grading throughout the dance moves. There's also a stars gauge that indicates your overall performance over the course of a song.

Also has a mini-musical game mode where you dance, sing, & follow a story being communicated through music & dance moves. You choose your choreography & be part of a musical. Haven't done this yet.

I didn't expect a Karaoke option. This will be cool to try. I'll need to buy a Hudson Wireless or Logitech USB microphone to play this part. (Of course, I'm already singing along to all these songs from my childhood).

This game is better than I expected! If you like the old ABBA songs & like to dance along, you'll love this game. Voulez-Vous & Dancing Queen are my favorites but I recognize & like all the songs.

I received the charger and decided to run a test to verify what the manufacturer told me (see original post below). I connected a DualShock controller to each of the 4 USB ports and noticed that their red lights started blinking, which means they are charging. No Move controllers were connected/docked during the test since they are still in the original packages waiting for Christmas. Some of the controllers were charged (the blinking red lights turned off) in about an hour and the most discharged controller (had not been used in months) took a little over 2 hours. I also charged my generic MP3 player but my iPhone 3GS does not detect the charger.

All this means that the manufacturer's customer support was wrong, (why am I surprised... ). This little charger can take care of not only both types of Move controllers but of ANY PS3 controller and possibly blue-tooth headsets and many other USB-based charging devices, with the exception of iPhones.

I upgraded the rating to 5*. By the way, the Move receptacles charge the controllers via metal pins, not USB mini B plugs. That is a good thing since the USB mini plugs tend to break easily and are more difficult to engage.

Just a cautionary note. I ordered this charger thinking that the USB ports would charge my 4 DualShock controllers. I tried to confirm that capability on the CTA Digital website and on Google to no avail. I emailed CTA Digital but they took more than a week to reply; a couple days after I ran out of patience and ordered the charger. In their email, CTA Digital said that the charger is not capable of charging the DualShock or SixAxis controllers via the USB ports, and referred me to another of their chargers.

I took out a star for misleading advertisement (I think it's malicious to make a charger for the PS3, which charges the regular controllers via the USB, and not mention that the USB ports in the charger CANNOT charge the regular controllers) and another star for the design (does not match the PS3 design lines/appeareance).

Apparently the reviewer before me made the same assumption I made (that the USB ports could charge the SixAxis and DualShock controllers) without testing that functionality. To be frank, I haven't tried either because the charger has not arrived yet. I'm just reporting what the manufacturer itself is claiming. If I find out that the USB ports can indeed charge the regular controllers I will update this review.

No complaints; works fine, but would have been better with an on/off switch, as you don't want to keep charging your controllers every time (better for maintaining the batteries).

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Having a separate charging base for my Move controllers and additional USB ports to charge the Sixaxis controller (or any other USB charged device) is a huge plus for keeping everything ready for action and out of the way. My controllers are charged so the device works. I don't know what else to say! The price is reasonable and while it doesn't seem very "substantial", it doesn't get much wear and tear so it should be fine.

As a Steeler fan, it is nice to play Madden with my Team's Gear. However, the right and left sticks are real smooth not giving as much comfort as the original controller. I have only seen these in the corded version. A wireless version with better stick surfaces would be a huge upgrade. Overall, nice controller.

Trying to get started in rockband is expensive, and for those of us who prefer to play bass anyway, this is a perfect starter set. The controller feels good and comfortable for playing bass although its a bit odd-feeling for playing guitar pieces.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

For a guitar controller with RB3 and the song pack, it's worth the price. However, the serious player will want a higher quality guitar.

Pros and cons: There is no whammy bar, which is technically accurate to the model of guitar, but this can be limiting, and it's not as multi-purpose as other guitars. Although, the technically accuracy was well done the twist of a nob where you'd normally press a button feels cool and well thought out. On the other hand, the strum bars click loudly, which I'm not a fan of. The tactile feel isn't bad, it's just loud. But I really do love the bar above the strum bars where you can hang your thumb, and I miss it on other guitars. The neck of the guitar is not as solid, it bows with pressure and doesn't look or feel anywhere near as nice as the Fender Stratocaster. But the strap is a nice, wide, soft cloth material that is far better than what comes with the Fender, so comparing the two is just confusing. Bottom line, they really nailed some aspects, especially in terms of design, but then took some shortcuts (likely to keep the cost down) which really hurt the final product. A good product overall for most players or as a 2nd (or 3rd) guitar, but those particular about their controller should plan to spend more.

Best Deals for WIRELESS FENDER PRECISION BASS

It is so nice having another guitar to complete our RockBand set! I was a little weirded out by the split finger strum at first but now I find it much easier and comfortable to play than the guitar that came with the set. It is slightly larger and heavier than the RB guitars but I find that I prefer it. The ugly super shiny fake tuning knobs could go away though. They serve no purpose whatsoever and just look out of place. The knobs that replace the buttons (start etc) are a plus as well, less time is spent accidentally pausing the game. The whammy knob is a little harder to get used to, as it is in a different place on the body of the guitar than the bar is on the others. I get somewhat lost trying to find it so rarely use it. I'm sure with more time playing, that will change though. Rock on, Mad Catz!!

its worked great for me since ive had it I don't play much but still its a great deal if you don't already have a rockband setup

****TOO LONG; DIDN'T READ VERSION:****

+ amazing visuals

+ open world/choice

+ perfectly balanced weapons and classes

+ perfectly balanced maps

+ intense online gameplay

lack of cut-scenes in single player

public voice chat is MIA, but should be added in a future update

+/reviewers knocked this game and battlefield for the campaign mode, yet it held no weight in battlefield's score, meanwhile, reviewers pretty much ignored the multiplayer portion of this game (the best part of the game).

--------------------------------------------------------------

Completely different from all of the other killzone games. The color scheme is no longer dark and gritty. It's futuristic and colorful. The missions are no longer "shoot your way from point A to point B." They're somewhat "free-roam to which objective you want to attack first." The graphics and sound are amazing. The only downfall is the cut-scenes. There are barely any, and they don't really flesh the characters out.

No more one shot kill scrubby marksman sniper rifle. The new rifle is bolt action and requires you to "zoom out" after every shot. The new turrets are actually useful. They can hold down an area easily if placed properly and are very strong. Portable spawns are back in the form of spawn beacons. The classes are perfectly balanced. Where one class has better guns (Assault), it will have weaker abilities. Where one class has weaker guns (Support), it will have stronger abilities. A good user can dominate with any class. This is the first online multiplayer that I say "is about as perfectly balanced as it gets." The online battles are close up and intense. The maps are not symmetrical, but are fair and do not give any team an advantage.

The "professional" idiot reviewers judged this game solely by the single player and paid no mind to the multiplayer. However, they said battlefield had a terrible campaign (like bf3)too, but BFs campaign held almost no weight in the scores. Don't listen to those morons. They will say the same thing about two different games, but weigh those same complaints differently in the overall score. No fanboy here, I like both games and owned multiple entries of both series. I just wanted to put this out there for the potential customers that might have be scared to pick up Shadowfall. They took a big risk, and I couldn't be happier with it.

Game is great, visuals are great, it's a nice change of pace fps from call of duty. I was a xbox guy last generation but made the switch to ps4, this game is kind of like halo, not as good, but a good substitute. Better than what it has been reviewed by the so-called experts. I haven't beaten the game but it's challenging and overall, a good time. The multiplayer is something you must try if you pick this up. Very fun!

Best Deals for Killzone: Shadow Fall (PlayStation 4)

Excellent Game! Most people think this is like all other Killzone games, its far from it. Most people dont know this game uses the same engine as Destiney.

This game is eye popping candy, with excellent surround sound. Visuals are stunning, and the game play is fantastic with controlls that most FPS gamers are familiar with.

The story is okay, with only a 24 man mulitplayer, which is the only thing that takes away from this game, however the graphics and game play will have you looking the other way.

This game really shows off what the PS4 really can do, and to get this kind of performance you would need to pay 1,600$+ for a gaming PC to get it.

I highly Recommend this!

Honest reviews on Killzone: Shadow Fall (PlayStation 4)

Summary: After the Day1 update and we were able to play some multiplayer I have to say that if you're a fan of the multiplayer of previous Killzone games, definitely get this. If you're in more for the campaing and single player thing, maybe stick with what we all know and get some of the third party games out there like Call of Duty: Ghosts PlayStation 4 or Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag Limited Edition PlayStation 4

I'm probably not the best person to review this game if you're looking for a comparison between previous games in the series and this one since I've already played a couple of hours of Killzone 3 Playstation 3, the prequel to this. I'll keep updating the review as I play more of the campaign.

Graphics 10/10: Some of the levels are incredibly big and really detailed. Character models have improved, even though they looked good on the PS3 you could still see some jagged borders, especially in facial animations. Particles and explosions look a lot better too. As a game that will probably help define the launch of a new generation of consoles, it is probably a good baseline to what we can expect this year and I can't wait for the games that come out in the following years.

EDIT: I give it 10/10 after I've seen the entire campaign. Man oh man how this game looks cool!

Sound 10/10: I feel like sound design/music get forgotten in videogames most of the time. If it's bad people will notice but if it's as good as this, people take it for granted. Before playing Killzone I thought that for FPS, one of the best sound designs I've heard was Battlefield 3 Playstation 3 or Battlefield 4 PlayStation 3 and this game's is probably up there too. If you can play this with a big surround sound system, you MUST do it (I still can't use my PS3 virtual surround sound headset)

Controls 8/10: The main complaint I've had with this series is the way they handle movement as opposed to how CoD and BF do it. Maybe I'm just used to the other ones a lot more but it takes me a while to get the feel of it. Maybe "heavier movements" would be the correct way to describe it. Sniping on this game is fantastic, just way until you do it.

Plot 7/10: (In progress). From what I've seen so far, it started setting plot lines in a good way, you can tell it's building the tension for a big ending (I hope), good voice acting helps a lot because it makes it more believable.

EDIT: What I said that it's building tension for a big ending/climax... nope... didn't happen. Just finished the campaign and besides admiring how beautiful every level is the story leaves a lot to be desired. It does not reach the level of action and excitement we've come to expect from a big AAA shooter like this

Having played Knack (PlayStation 4) (you can check out my review of that one too!) and this, I think I'm going to spend most of my time on this one for the first couple of weeks.

Next week: Need for Speed Rivals PlayStation 4

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Killzone: Shadow Fall (PlayStation 4)

Heyyy, who put exploration in my Killzone? Shadow Fall is quite a departure from K2 and K3. The maps in the campaign are huge, full of nooks and pathways that lead to rooms with mundane things such as domitories, restrooms, storage houses, often with nothing much of interest to pick up in them. Thats actually a GOOD thing. Exploring a facility and finding these non-essential places greatly adds to the immersion of the game, like a Fallout or Elder Scrolls game does.

These NPCs need places to sleep, places to uh, relieve themselves, places to hang their coat and boots and the end of the day. The amount of detail really makes this game world feel lived-in. What I disliked about the past two Killzone games was that for the most part, pretty much led you down a one way path with not much else to do but kill kill kill. In Shadow Fall, there are stretches of the game where you wont encounter enemies for several minutes at a time encouraging the player to explore and do the little tasks on your mission's to-do list.

Great improvement for the series. It kinda reminds me of the first Killzone, but better. Gameplay wise, the controls are weighty, but have more snap when going to your sights. Best of all, NO AIM ASSIST. So every kill you get is really accomplished with your skill and not the game helping you lock on to the enemy like in CoD.

When you look at this game, you think it looks amazing, right? I mean it has all the best nickelodeon characters, they have supercool moves, and the story plot about the doomsday device sounds great, but to tell you the truth, this game isn't so hot. During movie scenes, the characters move on a loop, meaning they repeat the same motions after a few sentences, and it seems a bit weird without music, just dead silence. If you aren't playing with another person, then you have your work cut out for you. It took me (13 years old) and my cousin (11) 15 minutes to beat Mr.Crocker once (you beat him 3 times). A half hour is about how long it takes to make it through a level, and there are 12 total. I'm surprised that there was a review saying that someone beat it in 3 hours, but I'm NOT surprised that it was written by a kid (because they probably can't tell time). Constantly having to worry about your power supply is a nuisance. I can understand having a life bar, but if you are playing alone, then you are the only player who can pick up either life or health orbs (to fill the bar up again), then you might go insane. Another problem (for any impatient people like me) is that if you have to endure a cutscene once, but you die soon after that, then you can't skip it when it starts the second time. When I play a game, I get bored having to watch movies in it over and over. Seeing the movie once is fine, but if you have to watch it over and over because someone doesn't stop dying, then there's going to be a bit of frustration. Once more on the multiplayer problem, computer characters barely help you fight, and if they do, then they stand by the enemy, like their ready to give them a hug. We all know that Spongebob tends to be a bit too affectionate sometimes, but during a battle between a band of robots and a genius/moron/ghost/sponge combo, you might be better off pushing him off the side of the cliff. One good thing about the game is that you collect coins which can be used to upgrade abilities, so if you highly value Timmy Turner's magic star shooter, you can upgrade that weapon/ability. The problem with this upgrading option is that (I know it seems like I have a lot of problems with this game, but I'm really just telling the truth here)many options require a heck of a lot of coins, typically up to 600 as the highest, so you often need to replay levels for more coins, because with about 3 new abilities throughout the game for each character, your going to need some MAJOR money. Many puzzles in this game aren't so challenging which gives this game a kiddy appeal, but when fighting, especially with the major bosses of each world (Vlad isn't so bad, but Plankton takes a lot more time and strategy), you could have a tough time. If you or the person you are buying for (probably around 10 and under) enjoys playing the game more than winning, then this is a pretty good choice.

My kids are 11 & 8, and I love that they can play this game where they cooperate, instead of compete. They play it for hours, without any arguing! The problem is that almost everytime they play, they can't complete it, because it freezes and they have to reset it. I don't see any scratches on the disc, so we're all baffled by this problem.

Honest reviews on Nicktoons Unite! - PlayStation 2

I bought this game for my 5 year old son. He had seen a preview for it on nickeloden. He wanted this game so much because it has all of his favorite cartoons in it. The controls are difficult to use, and the tasks are a little complex for him. when we play usually me or my husband ends up playing it for him. All he really wants to do is beat up on the bad guys. His favorite part of the game is being the gorilla in danny phantom's world. It is a great game if more than one person is going to be playing. If you are looking for a game that is easier for smaller children I recommend star wars legos. my 5 year old can control the game with ease, and with little or no help from me.

The faceplate is both cool and easy to instal. However it only comes with the top half of the controler. So it disrupts the "coolness" of it because the sides and botem are still white and gray.

IT's awesome once you get the face plate on, but puting it on is much harder than it looks.

Though this is only the top faceplate, I do not find it necessary in any way to have the bottom half clear...I haven't noticed or cared at all.

The plastic is very clear and does not take any smudges, so mine still looks brand new. If you put some LEDs in your controller, this faceplate emits the light very well (very stylish).
