Gioteck HF-2 Ergonamic FPS Controller Review

My PS3 controller crapped the bed leaving me looking for a new one fast. I hit up target and saw this. Coming from an avid 360 player i was sold on looks alone. When I got it home I found that there was way more than meets the eye. Not only does it have the same ascetics as the 360 controller, its not as heavy. It has the rubberized paint that gives it a nice grip. The PS3 button actually turns on the PS3 unlike a lot of other 3rd party controllers and now for the game changer. There is a switch on the bottom of the controller that when flipped reverses your triggers and bumpers... So L1 is actually L2 and R1 is actually R2.... For those that have never played a 360 having the fire and aim buttons as the actual triggers and not the top bumpers is awesome. Turbo feature is good, and at first i noticed some dead-zones in the sticks. But you can download a firmware patch from your PC right to the controller and it fixes it right up.

Pro's its a sold all around controller and worth it.

Con's the battery's are AAA, there was supposed to be a rechargeable pack released by the company but I have yet to see one.

So make sure you have some batteries on hand, but it does have good batter life usually lasts 2 days for me playing 5 / 6 hours a day.

For FPS games I prefer the "360" layout of the thumbsticks, and that is something the Sony brand controller doesn't have. This controller fixes that problem by being my official FPS controller for my PS3. The alternate thumbstick layout was the main motive behind my purchase, but the other extras were a nice surprise. The best extra was being able to use it on my PC via Bluetooth adapter. It's a 2 in 1 in that regard. How light the controller feels was a bit off putting at first, but I came to appreciate how light it felt in my hands. The curve of the handles and rubber of the grip gives a really nice fit for my hands. A must for FPS players that want an alternative to basic PS3 layout and/or for those wanting a cheap bluetooth controller for their PC.

Can you explain why it's buggy. What did you do to the controller to aim up on you on time? Did you reset the controller by using a pen to press the button on the back of the controller? Did you uninstall the firmware and reinstall it. Did you take the batteries out and reinsert them.

Honest reviews on Gioteck HF-2 Ergonamic FPS Controller

But its a buggy, overly sensitive and now it doesnt work at all for me. It aims up automatically, and i dont see any way to fix it.

I don't think people should have to pay for new maps, they should be able to just download them like we used to do with old Rainbow Six multiplayer games. Barely anyone is online for Max Payne 3, DLC isn't worth the $$

Review of Playstation 3 / PS3 / XBOX360 Custom Dust Cover Protector

Playstation 3 / PS3 / XBOX360 Custom Dust Cover Protector

I got tge dust cover for my PS3 slim, and it fits perfectly over the console.

Its made of thick material...kinda like a canvas material and covers the system completely to keep the dust etc. out of the system while not being used.

****NOTE****

The manufacturer DOES NOT sell the dust covers for a PS3 slim on Amazon.

I ordered mine through Amazon, but I emailed the manufacturer stating that I had a PS3 slim & not an Xbox360.They replied back stating that the dust covers they listed on Amazon.com are for the older "fatter" PS3's,but they do sell covers for the newer slims, and that theyd just go ahead and pull a slim cove from their stock & send it.

I did go to their actual online store, and sure enough, the PS3 slim covers were same priced as the PS3 Fat cover. They have covers for all sorts of systems & electronics.

I just want to be sure anyone else that orders a PS3 dust cover knows that the ones listed on Amazon are not for the Slim model....

If your looking for a perfect custom fit dust cover for your gaming console, then this is not the one you want however, dust covers in general are only suppose to fit around the device and that is exactly what this does. It is free standing and drops over your gaming console, and this is exactly the way I prefer, rather than a tight fit that can ruin the cover or scratch the finish of your device, (XBOX/PS3). I received the product on time and delivered by the post office USPS. It does the job because my house harbors dust and I don't want that in my XBOX. Although I dust every other day, this cover gives me peace of mind because we all know that when dust settles on electronics, the devices will run hotter and eventually overheat and malfunction. The seller is actually located in Colorado, and they make these covers for every device i.e. copiers, printers, gaming consoles. I am very happy with this 20 dollar investment that will protect my 300 dollar console! I gave it 5 stars as a dust cover not a game as it was asking me to rate.

I have needed a dust cover for my PS3 for some time now, and when I discovered this one I jumped at it. Made of a heavy quality material, I know it will give me years of use and may in fact outlast my PS3 while giving it the protection it needs in between uses.

Review of Operation Flashpoint: Red River - Xbox 360

Operation Flashpoint: Red River - Xbox 360
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars

As a member of the military for the past 22 plus years (retiring end of the year) I have had the pleasure of serving on 6 continents (including Antarctica) and have been in various war zones and in my humble opinion this video game is the most realistic military simulator (for the most part) you'll find on consoles today (Battlefield 3 will take the crown mostly from O.F. later this year). I own or owned nearly all of the military shooters on the Xbox 360 and PS3 (Battlefield 2, Black Ops, MW2, Homefront, OF: Dragon Rising, Sniper: Ghost Warrior, MAG, SOCOM etc...) and this game is pretty good.

Gameplay:

I really enjoyed working with my four human teammates and battling tons of enemies across huge battlefields. Each battle can last for an hour or more and very intense. If you enjoy realistic battles that make you work as a team and coordinate together then you will enjoy this game. Anybody who likes to run around and just fire away with no regard to realism then please go play the Call Duty, Halo and Gears of War series and have fun (they are fun in their own way). I like working together as a team throughout a mission and feel a sense of cohesiveness that can only be found with military squads working together to accomplish the objectives.

Example of what I'm talking about happened on my first night of playing. I was playing with 4 teammates on a campaign mission and one of the teammates was a young guy who told us how good Call of Duty: Black Ops (it is in its own way) is compared to other shooters and then complained about why does this game have such huge levels and why he keeps getting killed. Well when we started are mission he took off like you do in games like COD: Black Ops and we all kept telling him to form up and stay together. He kept saying how good he was and how he prestiged several times (etc etc...)in COD: Black Ops. One of my squad mates said this isn't that type of game and you need to stay together and work as a team or you will get killed. Well he went off and decided to take on the PLA on his own and within a few seconds he was on the ground asking for help. We tried to get to him but we got into our own intense firefight and barely made it to him. After healing him we pressed on and he worked for a while with us and then he decided to go off again (geez Call of Duty and Halo players) and he goes around a building and gets a nice tank shell in his face (no saving him now). I will say after that he never went on his own again. I guess him thinking he was Master Chief came to an abrupt end.

Graphics:

The visual effects are top notch. When you take time to look around (not just at the ground and dirt roads) you will see a visually stunning mountain peaks and clouds, and clear blue skies. The dust up when you're in the heat of battle is very authentic and can obscure your view just like in real combat battles in the Middle East (actually the dust ups are more intense in certain areas). The lighting (sun, night vision, stars and moon) are as authentic as can be. The team went out of their way to make sure you really experienced the utmost realism as possible. The guns, the character modeling, vehicles (Humvee's, tanks, Helicopters, fighters, and other vehicles) are top notch (not perfect, again what game is in this area).

Sound:

I really liked the sound of the various weapons. They sounded just like their real life counterparts. The development team worked with real military units in their country to hear and record the real sounds of the various weapons. So to the naysayers (if any) this game has the sound of the real deal. The voice acting was done adequately and is standard nothing spectacular. I will say that I had to turn the speech down because I was very annoyed with the foul language over and over again. My wife was not happy and told me it was not appropriate for a game to have this kind of language in it. Being in the military you hear some foul language once in a while (a few times a week), but not like this over and over and over again. I would advise you to turn it down or off and if you still want to know what the people are saying then put on subtitles. Because of this I can't let my teenage son play this because it's worse than anything he has heard in school (especially because it's so much and way over the top).

Music:

The musical score is standard and not John Williams or Danny Elfman quality but it works for the game. I will say it has a few moments of great sound and then goes back in the background or off at the right time. So you don't have to worry about feeling like it's you, your squad, and the London Symphony Orchestra taking on the enemy in every battle.

PC Version Comments:

In regards to PC it's still a great game, but as most have stated ARMA 2 is better and I can't disagree with that. Both came from the same starting point i.e. Operation Flashpoint 1, but have gone separately like a fork in the road over the years. They both have dedicated fans who adore them both even if neither one of them are perfect (what game is, except Chess and Stratego!!!).

Closing:

I really am enjoying this game on my Xbox 360 (still checking it out on my PC). I somewhat enjoyed OF: Dragon Rising but a variety issues dragged it down for me a little bit. I enjoy co-op missions and look forward to the expansions coming out this month (free for us who pre-ordered). This game has some incredible moments and intense battles that you'll not forget for a long time.

Listen, if you like running and gunning then please go play Call of Duty: Black Ops and Halo and have a blast (they are fun games). However if you want to enjoy realism then please pick up this game and prepare yourself because you will feel the heat of battles and the whizzing of bullets flying by your head. This game will be my top shooter along with Battlefield 2 until Battlefield 3 is released later this year (and yes all be picking of the next run and gun MW3 later this year as well).

Gamplay: 5 stars. Enjoy working with others who work as a team in these very long missions. Those of you who like COD: Black OPS and Halo will learn painfully this isn't a run and gun type of game. Working as team is crucial to your missions success.

Graphics: 4.5 stars. Sometimes I feel a sense of awe on the beauty of the landscape and special weather, lighting and night effects. The character modeling is very well done (again not perfect but well done).

Sound: 5 Stars weapons, vehicles, and environment, 1 star for foul language and dialogue (yes some of the squad mates AI have funny comments).

Music: 4 Stars. Not John Williams but pretty decent. I'm just glad I don't feel like I have an orchestra right behind me throughout the game (I can't recall experiencing that in any warzone I've been in).

Overall: 5 stars. It has it faults but looking past these I'm very pleased and can't wait to form up again with my squad and fight for freedom once again. Semper Fi!!!

I wrote a big review for Dragon Rising, which I loved and still do, and was excited about this coming out. Having only played it for a few hours, I will try to give the best impression that I can and reserve the right to update this in a few days after diving deeper into it. To give you my frame of mind in writing this review, I'll throw the following out there:

1) Prior military: Tank and then Scout Platoon Leader with 1AD in Iraq in 03 and 04. Some people don't think this matters apparently, but I'll hold that it might make a difference in my judgement of a military based game.

2) I love GRAW 2 and think that the COOP missions were the best part of the game. Great online community worldwide. I hated it's campaign. Too linear.

3) I love the HALO series (ODST is still my favorite) but it's online community is still the most obnoxious one I can think of, but enjoy the campaign more than the vs mode.

4) I hate MW1, loved MW2, and thought Black Ops has been the best addition so far. Campaigns are a bit idiotic, but the multiplayer is setting the standard for what it should be.

5) I loved Dragon Rising. Campaign is awesome and that you can do it COOP was excellent and it was hard! It was gritty and real and fun in that patient sort of thinking mans fight instead of running the board like the Spartan 117 guns blazing.

But, on to Red River:

5 stars for fun? No. It requires too much patience to be that much fun. Halo, Black Ops, those are games that are FUN. This is about the realism (for the most part)and forcing you to think the situation out and fight through it intelligently and viciously.

Sound: Solid. I won't rate it on stars, but with a surround sound system, it's pretty impressive listening to the bullets buzz past or the helicopters orbit around you. I will agree with other posters thus far, the swearing is annoying. Honestly, the characters can't hold a candle to the amount or creativity of the swearing my guys used to come up with, but I don't think any of it should have been involved in a video game. That's realistic too, but it's cheesy and forced here. Once again, some computer guy was watching Aliens and thought it would be cool to include as much Hoo Rah! verbiage as he could muster up because that's what military people do. We swear nonstop and say things like "DEAD!" every time we pull the trigger. It gets annoying. On the plus side, the constant grid referencing from the first has been done away with and when your team mates do speak to you, they actually give you information of value. Give and take. Dialogue is moronic, but the effects are pretty great.

Graphics/Video: Maybe somewhere they slack off here, but I haven't seen it yet. Everything looks well rendered and recognizable up close and from far away. Explosions look good, tracers are eerily good, and the environment is beautifully rendered. I did experience some of that random warping going on though with a PLA rifleman sort of skipping around a courtyard while we were rushing him. Movement seems pretty smooth, human rendering looks good, and the depth of the battlefield is just as good as Dragon's was, if not somehow a bit better.

Menu: Still kind of ugly. It works, but it could be better just to get things rolling. I would say they should look at Graw 2 for inspiration and then plagiarize/ steal it.

Gameplay: This isn't Black Ops, and you're not going to go out and Pwn anybody. It's a COOP game, which is AWESOME! Why? Because it keeps those mountain dew fueled 12 year olds off the servers once they realize they are dumber than the AI you're up against. It's humbling, or should be. Working with other sentient beings to accomplish the mission at hand instead of being glory hound campers seems to bring together a good group of gamers and helps make this online experience a lot of fun. They updated a lot of Red River's actions from Dragon Rising, and I think it's for the better:

1)You get a Splinter Cell like grenade ark now to give you an idea of where the grenade is going.

2)The controls are much easier than Dragon Risings and the squad controls were EXPONENTIALLY easier when you're trying to give an order and felt much more intuitive. You could lose yourself in Dragons order menu, Red River keeps it simple. Think of the GRAW 2 menu over the GRAW 1 menu and how much you hated GRAW 1 for putting you through that nonsense. Same here.

3)Dragons enemies were supermen, and those who played it know the frustration of hitting a PLA soldier 6 times at 200 meters just to see him shrug it off and carry on like those were raindrops you sent his way. They drop now when you hit them, just like you ALWAYS have, which seems a bit more fair to me and much more fun.

4)Realism of the weapons seems pretty on. You still have all the fire selection modes that any particular weapon system has, they sound like they should, produce fire like they should, and the ballistics seems pretty solid as well. Overall I'm quite happy and enjoyed the fact that I raked a house with a M2 .50 Cal and killed the occupant inside.

5) Boundaries: I didn't like that my screen started to fuzz a bit and I was told to get back into my Area of Operations...Flashpoint should let me go wherever I bloody well wish, especially if the PLA forces are using it. I'll figure out how to secure my own area and from where, thank you very much.

6) Vehicles: Those are less prevalent than in Dragon, but you never really used them in Dragon anyways. I wouldn't expect my SSG Marine to crawl into a Chinese made APC or tank and be able to operate anything anyways, so it's probably better it was excluded. This does bring us to AI...

7) The AI is horrible. Watching 2 HMMWVs ram into each other at an intersection is just...well it sucks. I couldn't figure out how to motivate my AI to do the right thing and go around. That seemed to be a limited occurrence, but it shouldn't happen. The ODST guys could drive a Warthog around pretty much anything, so I know the programing exists. The game is made for COOP though! Look at the cover. Is it one guy like all the MW games have been? No, it's four. Get online, make some friends, and enjoy it. The games about teamwork, not some idiot Marchinko-Army of One nonsense. The enemy AI is pretty sharp though, and they seem to understand fire and maneuver quite a bit better than your own guys.

8) This is a 1 person per system game. No split screen. Get online, or you're stuck with the aforementioned idiot AI as your back up.

9) I don't know if this should fall in Visual or Gameplay, but I don't think they have their dimensions down quite right yet either. The 200 meters in the game is a LOOOOOONNNNGGGG way out there, and anybody who's shot much knows about what a human sized target looks like at 200. Makes target acquisition and servicing tough.

10) The ability to alter your equipment now is a HUGE plus over Dragon. So much better...From your demo options to sights on your weapons to a set of MW like perks, you can customize now.

11) You can select your player type before the mission, just like Ghost Recon, and go to work with a good set of toys. If you get zapped or join in, you can select the follow on load out too. I can't express how bad that was in Dragon or how fast I looked for that PLA marksman rifle every board and ditched my M16A2 with iron sights as fast as possible.

That's probably enough for now though. Just like Dragon, I say rent it, and if you like it, buy it and jump into the community for some fun and probably long games. I think it's a great game, and fun in its way if you're patient and intelligent. As another reviewer said, if the Army wanted an Infantry sim, this would probably be it. If you don't think a single bullet will incapacitate or kill you on the real battlefield, then back to COD kiddo. We don't want to listen to you whine or betray our position, and you've probably got that spelling test coming up soon anyways.

Best Deals for Operation Flashpoint: Red River - Xbox 360

This is a very simple game to review:

If you're the kind of person who LOVES Call of Duty and thinks other games are terrible by comparison, this game is not for you.

If you enjoy console FPS games (Yes, console. PC elitists always have something to complain about, especially when it comes to series that began on PC and then moved to console/cross-platform), and you're looking for something closer to a realistic/simulation military game, then this is it! It's not as hardcore as the original PC Flashpoint or the Arma games (the real sequels to the original Flashpoint), but for console players that's a good thing. We've got a controller and a couch, so a more accessible game is better, IMO.

This game is not nearly as buggy as OF: Dragon Rising was, and has MANY feature improvements. Red River is everything I wanted from OF:DR, but didn't get. You can fully customize your loadouts, heal a wounded leg (an annoyance from DR) so you can sprint again, and have a great time playing co-op with friends.

If you want to keep the pure, hardcore feel of previous FP games, you can. Just self-impose some rules on yourself and turn off all your HUD data (the real effect of the difficulty settings in the game). Don't like that the game allows you to heal a wounded leg? Don't do it! Stopping bleeding from a wound and healing the wound are treated in 2 separate steps. Simply stop the bleeding and move on with your wounded limb. Problem solved! Those of use who don't crave the unnecessary difficulty curve or annoyance of limping through a level because of a stray bullet no longer have to put up with it.

Bottom line, if you want a game that more closely simulates the actual experience of firing a weapon in combat, and using tactics and strategy to complete an objective, BUY THIS GAME!

If you would rather have guns with no recoil as you fight off 100+ enemies on your own, can take 50 bullets without dying, and only have to walk around a corner and wait for wounds to heal, this is not your game. That's not the game's fault (as other reviewers would imply), that's just not what this game is about.

Honest reviews on Operation Flashpoint: Red River - Xbox 360

First off, I'm not mad about it breaking tradition, because I never played the original. I'm a Battlefield guy, with some COD thrown in because that's what all my friends play. I'm a grown-up, with the slow reflexes to match...so the high-speed paintball feel of COD multiplayer is really not my thing. I like Battlefield, because it's more about staying alive and taking objectives than COD, where it's run, kill, die, respawn, run, kill, die...

That being said, OF:RR is a nice change of pace. It's annoyingly realistic in places; for example, if you get shot, you'll have a hard time returning fire, because you stagger realistically. If you don't patch up, you'll bleed out. As another reviewer mentioned, there are no friendly red boxes over enemies. Waypoints can be hard to find. Sometimes you just have to hunker down and figure out what's going on. You can order your squad to do some cool things, like flank left/right, lay down suppressing fire, and go to an objective...but that doesn't always help when you have no idea where the objective is.

Game mechanics are a fresh change. As I mentioned, damage is much more...damaging. You always have to keep your eyes open and check your corners. Likewise, you don't have to put a full clip into an enemy to drop them (hint to COD:BO) which is nice.

The drop in/drop out co-op works well. I accidentally left my game 'open' while playing the campaign, and had some random people drop in. At first I was annoyed, but it ended up being fun. And the actual co-op multiplayer has some nice twists, like the 'last stand' game mode, where you keep fighting waves of AI until you decide to call for extraction. The twist is that if you hold out for a higher score and don't make it, you get no points for the match. You have to gamble between low-risk/low points, or going for high score and risking a big goose egg to show for all your hard work.

Honestly, I meant to cancel my pre-order for this game, but forgot. I felt pretty burned when I pre-ordered Homefront and found it to be a mediocre cross between COD and BF, and swore off of pre-ordering. But after burning most of a Tuesday night on this game, I'm glad I got it. It's something different from the two Big Daddies of military FPS games, and that's quite a feat these days.

PS: the voice acting is superb. Filthy and foul, but not gratuitously so. I heard some phrases I haven't heard since the better parts of my mis-spent youth.

UPDATE: after a week of playing this, a quick point:

As mentioned by another reviewer, the AI for your team-mates is weak...I think the 'solo' campaign is meant to be played co-op. It's brutal when you play offline, but much better when you open the lobby and bring in real people. The co-op missions are nothing short of brilliant, but don't overlook the campaign co-op mode. It plays much (MUCH) better with real people on your fireteam.

To start off with this game is not your fast pace close quarter FPS like the call of duty series, And kinda but barely relates to the Battlefield series. This is a military combat simulator where you are a squad leader of a fireteam. So if you are expecting to be that guy who runs around and kills everything and the only tactics you know are run and shoot then you are set up for failure. This game is supposed to simulate an actually combat environment. Its not to see who has the highest kill to death ratio and what level prestige you are. So if anyone is expecting a game like Call of duty don't even bother this game will eat you alive. Now that we got that out of the way onto the actual game review.

Pros

Graphics, are amazing, I dont get why people are being such sticklers about it. Its a video game not real life enough said. But still the graphics are truly breath-taking. The only one thing that pissed me off the most was getting a glare from the sun. Granted its really realistic but can be a pain.

Weapons, they are truly realistic they jam, the muzzle flashes are spot on, The sound of rounds flying over your head and seeing tracers lighting up the sky actually makes you want to duck when you're in the middle of a fire fight. The only one thing I found slightly unrealistic is the sound of incoming or IDF. Me being currently deployed in Afghanistan right now I've had the unpleasant experience of taking rockets and mortar rounds shot at my FOB and in the game they are a tad unconvincing but not a major draw back.

Dialog, Your platoon sergeant has one of the most ridiculously filthy mouths possible, But it is surprisingly close to how we all talk out here, Me personally I talk like a drunk sailor swearing left and right. So I cant complain about it, And not to mention your squad will actually give you good information.

-Music, Is awesome, when you first start the game rolling out on your first convoy they have Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth playing in the background I couldn't think of some better pump up music before your first fire fight other then some As I Lay Dying but that is my opinion. And whenever you get in the back of your HMMWV and start moving out to the next location they throw in some good rock music.

Command Ridicule, Is a lot better and more user friendly the in OF: Dragon Rising, So good job there now only if the AI was good enough to follow the orders you give them.

Gameplay, Is outstanding, The levels are long, firefights are insane, And you can pick the class you want to be (Marksman, Rifleman, Auto Rifleman, Grenadier). And in every class there is different weapons, attachments, perks, and gear you can unlock. They have also thrown in a leveling system which as you progress threw the campaign you unlock previously stated items. And since there are 4 different classes the replay ability is great. You can go threw the campaign as one class and when you beat it you can change to a different one for a different gaming experience. And when you get the opportunity to call off map support like CAS, Mortar/howitizer barrages, and 2000lbs of democracy, Pop a squat and enjoy freedom at its finest.

Healing, When you get hit, You are going to bleed. So bust out that handy dandy first aid kit and patch yourself up or you will bleed out and die. Some wounds will bleed out faster then others and depending on the caliber of the round will also influence how fast you bleed out so keep that in mind, say you get shot in the arm you can go a little bit before you have to patch up before you bleed out. But say you got shot in the chest depending on where it hit you and if it didn't Incapacitate you, you will bleed out a lot faster.

Cons

Your team AI in single player is just ridiculous. You will tell them to hold position behind a wall and next thing you know you have to guys standing in the middle of a street getting lit up like the fourth of july. It can be extremely annoying but life goes on. I can only imagine what it would be like have a full squad commanded by real people but like I stated im in afghanistan and my internet will not let me play on Xbox Live.

I really only have one problem with the weapons and in my opinion they over powered the 5.56 round. I can understand one shot will put you on the ground. But depending on where you hit them its not a guarantee that you will kill them but for some reason I can shoot a guy in the foot with my M4 and it kills him instantly.

this isn't a Pro or Con, But this game is realistic! One bullet in the right spot and your going home in a body bag. You get shot in the leg, and your not going to be able to run or sprint as well as before you got hit, You get shot in the arm, You wont be able to hold your weapon as steady as before... You can see where im going with this. So don't think you can run out in the middle of all hell breaking loose and being able to take a 30 rounds in the chest and be able to crawl behind some cover and you will magically be all good and ready to be a bullet magnet again.

So all in all this games fun value is awesome. There are some bugs with the AI but other then that there shouldn't be anything to serious that interferes with gameplay. And like I mentioned before this isn't Call of Duty so if you where expecting something like that you are sadly mistaken.

Review of Playstation 3 320GB HW Bundle - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Playstation 3 320GB HW Bundle - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
If you're looking to buy a Playstation 3 and Modern Warfare 3, then this bundle is a match made in Heaven. The stand-alone 320GB PS3 system retails for three hundred brand new, while MW3 is sixty. So it's like getting a free game, but that's where your benefits end. The console is your basic PS3 (not that that's a bad thing!) and the game is the standard edition. You still get one controller and no HDMI cable. And unlike last years PlayStation 3 160GB Call of Duty: Black Ops Bundle, there is no free map pack voucher. In fact, the only thing custom is the box!

Now in this product's defense, the other bundle PS3 320GB Uncharted 3 Bundle is no different and I have yet to find an aesthetically customized PS3, at least officially from Sony. The Playstation 3 is a great machine nonetheless, and I highly doubt you will be disappointed. Just know what you will be receiving if you spring for this bundle.

I ordered this for my boyfriends birthday, and over nighted it to where I work.

It arrived in great condition, with everything the description says. Great price for game, controller and console.

When he saw it he was way excited.

The only thing that I recommend when you buy it is to make sure you have an HDMI cable for Smart TV's.

Had my Playstation 3 40 GB for more than 4 1/2 year and it still works like a charm this very day, but always hated when I had to delete something just to fit something new in. I decided to get the new slim model, I was gonna get the uncharted model but then the MW3 was announced and I swore I would never buy a COD again but this deal was too good to pass up cause you practically get the game free.

PS3 Slim

A very nice upgrade from my fat model, I like the nice matte finish than the traditional glossy for both the casing and the controller it feel nice and just looks great aswell. I though it would be hard to transfer everything I had on my 40 GB to the new system but it was actually very simple and didn't take that long to get it setup to how I had my 40. The 320 GB it comes with is worry free, don't have to worry about running out of room anytime soon. I could not be happier with my slim model

MW3

A actually nice game so far, only played acouple of hours and can't complain for a game that was pretty much free to me lol. Game is nice, survival is probably my favorite part of the game but the other stuff is not too shabby either.

OVERALL

No regrets with my purchase, a nice upgrade from my fat model and runs smoothly even after long hours of play. Definate a five star, if you looking for a new PS3 and are in the need of a MW3 game then this is the console for you

This is a fun add-on to Skylanders Giants, and includes a cool magic item and two enjoyable but not dominant characters, which I'll describe separately. First, though, a slight word of warning. While these three toys are compatible with the Skylanders Giants game, it does not include any actual "Giant" figures, just the three figures listed below. Also, unlike the Adventure Packs in the last game, this battle pack does not unlock a new playable level, just a new battle mode area for PVP fights.

1) Silver Cannon: This is a "magic item" that you can use in the game for approximately for approximately 45 seconds each time you play a level. (You will see a circle on screen winding down the time, and can remove and re-add the cannon until your time is up.) If you add it to the portal, a cannon will appear in game, follow your Skylanders around, and shoot blasts of flame at your enemies. It's helpful in the boss battles and is also just fun. Adding the cannon also unlocks a new PVP battle area. Note another store has the exclusive right to sell the limited edition version of this pack, which comes with a gold cannon instead of silver. I'm not sure what the difference is, if any.

2) Shroomboom: This is a new life skylander. He's not the most powerful, but he's very cute, so we've been playing him a lot. He shoots explosive mushrooms with his slingshot, and can raise a defensive ring of mushrooms to slow down enemies. As you power him up, he gets more mushroom abilities, like a different explosive mushroom and the ability to launch himself at enemies. As I said, he doesn't dominate, but he's cute. After upgrading, Shroomboom can hold down his z-button to continually spam the screen with "paratrooper" explosive mushrooms, which is different and actually sort of effective, assuming you can still see him well enough to avoid the enemies while you wait for them to blow up.

Note: Shroomboom is not currently for sale as an individual figure, but he is on the list to be released in a "lightcore" version later, so if you're planning to collect the lightcore figures, you might want to wait.

3) Series 2 Chop Chop: This is the updated version of one of the undead figures from the original game. As in the original game, he's a sword and shield wielding beast. He does reasonable damage and his shield can protects him from most threats. He's basically the same as Series 1, except that he has access to a "Wow Pow" in his case, an upgraded shield bash.

Lastly, although you can use Chop Chop in both Giants and Spiro's Adventure, the other two figures are only compatible with Giants. Enjoy!

My 5-yr-old son's been begging for this game for the past two Christmases and it doesn't disappoint. Being able to change characters mid-game by removing and replacing them on the pedestal is a nifty little idea. He absolutely loves it.

The younger kids love this game and cannot get enough of swapping the players to make the game more interesting. Each character has a different skill/power and all of the them are helpful to get through the game.

Honest reviews on Skylanders Giants Battlepack #1 - Chop Chop - Dragonfire Cannon

Originally, we purchased this battle pack, simply for Chop-Chop, but since opening and playing with it, we have enjoyed all three pieces.

Shroom boom is pretty cool, with his "walls" to stand behind as he attacks.

The battle cannon is useful in long battles, or with bigger, more powerful characters that could take you out quickly, otherwise.

Chop-Chop is my fav though. I played with my niece's first, and then started looking for one of my own, and Amazon had this pack on sale, so we bought it! I enjoy using his attacks, and he looks fabulous in the Showtime Hat. ;)

This is a good item in theory but it needs some improvements to be more user friendly. The 2.5mm connector that plugs into the xbox controller (the most important connection in this system) is too small for xbox OEM controllers. This means you have to wedge it to one side so your friends can actually hear you talk (very annoying). I contacted Xjacker about this and received an email back asking if I wanted to try a strain relief they came up with to help hold the connector in the right place. I replied sure send one this was two months ago have not heard anything since. Now another huge oversight in my opinion is the lack of separate chat and game volume control like the turtle beach models. This requires you to go into your Xbox system settings and adjust the chat volume and then go into your game and adjust the game volume to where you can hear things somewhat ok. But if you have friends that are either very loud or very quiet you are screwed as there is no way to balance it out on the fly. You can lower the volume to tolerable for loud people but then you cannot hear quiet people. I used this for about two weeks before abandoning it for my Turtle Beaches again.

Updated Sept. 29th 2013

After a catastrophic failure of the turtle beaches I went back to this and an over the ear mic at the same time.

Now this gets a one star rating the stupid little adapter that plugs into the amplifier, your headphones, and the controller (yes all one piece!) has almost completely stopped functioning. I have two kids so I use my headset and mute the TV with this not functioning for chat already I bought a $10 over the ear mic at walmart and use the earbuds with this amp and the headset over top. well with the little adapter not working right I have to plug my earbuds in halfway and twist the cords just right to get any game audio. pretty much cheapest piece of junk head set out there. buyers beware

Thought this would work with my PC headset although the sound is gives off is a wonderfully blistering white noise. Best to just throw the mini amp out and keep the adapter cords. This product is the worst product I have ever bought.

In regards to the Xbox version: Mine came with instructions for the Playstation version. The wiring part is simple to figure out, but many people will not know what Xbox settings need to be adjusted. Not a huge deal, thanks to the magic of internets.

My only real issue is that it doesn't come with the RCA adapter that is required for HDMI users... but it does come with an adapter for Beats by Dr Dre headphones. I can absolutely guarantee that more people are using HDMI and will require the $5 adapter than are using Beats and require what I'm sure is an overpriced adapter. Do they even sell Xbox's anymore with RCA connectors? It would've been nice to know so I would've ordered the adapter at the same time.

So heads up... if you're buying this and have your XBOX connected to your TV or home theater with an HDMI cable, you're going to need an RCA audio adapter.

Honest reviews on TekNmotion XJacKer Soniq Rush 2.0 Gaming Amplifier - Xbox 360

I was really looking forward to my xJacker Soniq Rush 2.0 for the Xbox 360. I already have the Razer Carcharias and I love using it on my PC. I rushed home from work and excitedly opened the package. Immediately I knew something was not included. Firstly, let me tell you about my set up. I hook up to my TV using HDMI which feeds the audio and video, no other cables. The xJacker *requires* that you either have analog out on your TV, which mine does not (42" LG Plasma, only a couple years old), or that you hook up via component cables which are no longer included with 360s. The only reason I got the xJacker was because Turtle Beach notes on their package that it requires a separate purchase of an adapter if you use HDMI. I figured this would be easier, wrong. I go out and buy some component cables out of desperation. Everything get hooked up and the microphone cable is *barely* held into place. Any tiny tug or light breeze will promptly remove it from your controller. Oh, what is that you say, another stumble? Yes, you must go to your settings and set voice to "play through speakers" meaning you can't easily control the game and voice volume independently unless you go through a few menus just to adjust it.

I appreciate the effort xJacker team, I really wanted to say I loved your product. It just wasn't the "everything you need and nothing you don't" as your website markets. It is missing a vital adapter that is $20 at most big box stores ($2 online). The audio and bass boost it provided were great, though it only managed to come out of the right headphone. I tried my brother's component cables and multiple devices, it certainly was not my headphones. I say you market the amplifier and come up with a new cabling solution. I don't think putting 4 or 5 different $1.00 cables in a box with a good amplifier is really the key to winning gamers, and people who hate multiple cables (really, I needed FIVE for my headphones) hearts. Maybe next time.

Discount Painkiller Hell & Damnation Collector's Edition

Painkiller Hell & Damnation Collector's Edition
Customer Ratings: 3 stars

Painkiller is a highly over looked game (untill Yahtzee reviewed it that is), what Painkiller is basically when you get down to it is a arcade-y style shooter with weapons that you've never used before.

A spinning blade melee weapon/also fires a laser, a shotgun with a freeze alt fire, a gun that shoots shurikens and lightning, a gun that shoots saw blades and a soul beam that can control enemies, a stake gun that fires basically tree sized stakes and who's alt-fire is a grenade, a rocket launcher with a minigun alt-fire

and more.

Seriously there's not many games that play like this and NONE that has weapons like this, except maybe the original painkiller. The story isn't worth mentioning, the enemies swarm you in big dumb hordes (huge variety of enemies to boot)

So this is the HD touch up, it's great, very very great not many remakes can boast that I think. It has NONE of the expansions from the original but honestly most of them were garbage anyway.

This game is a joke! this is a buggy-filled sack of s***. This remake has damaged the original version of Painkiller. AI enemy is dumber or the dumbest I have ever seen in a video game, you can see jumping skeletons, minions bumping against each other, ghouls stuck in walls... Terrible game!! Don't trash your money on this release, you better off spending your time watching a movie.

This game is awesome and fun for everyone its very enjoyable. Drawing your symbols out with the wii remote is cool and gameplay is simple but fun. My only two complaints is that it is very short ending after only 10 missions and that the megazord sequence coulda been better but other than that this game is fun for the whole family

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I like the Golden Ranger because he's really fast. I like the Red Ranger because he has the fire smasher. The Green one has the water spitter because he has to fight strong enemies to win the game.

One thing I don't like is that one time on the tenth mission it will not let you get the Golden Ranger.

I like the game because the Golden Ranger has the phone and you have to listen and see to get it right because you have to type in the password and try to get it really good.

I like the Golden Ranger because he has Barracuda Blade and he jumps up and uses his spin sword.

It's kind of different from the TV show because it doesn't show you all the Power Rangers Samurai. It doesn't have the Golden Ranger. **I tell him but Golden Ranger is in the game.** Yea, I'm talking about the cover, see.

I love it.

It's simple enough for my young kids to play. I've found quite a bit of "kids" games that are too hard for them.

Honest reviews on Power Rangers Samurai - Nintendo Wii

My son is a big fan of the show, and when he saw the game it was impossible not to get it for him. The gameplay is fairly simple. The cut-scenes and Ranger transformations are fun to watch. There are two stages to the boss fights, one in "regular size" and then following that, the enemy grows into Megazord size. The Megazord fights are time-based and call for the player to shake the proper controller to either "block" or "hit" their opponent. The look and feel of the game reminds me a lot of the Batman Brave and the Bold game that came out a couple of years ago. All in all, if you're a fan of the show then you'll probably like this game.

This game is fun and dynamic. So fun and dynamic that even I played it (before I let the kids play it). And, I don't even like the Power Rangers (even though my kids do). You get to choose different rangers to play, you get to make power symbols motions in the air, you get challenging boss characters that aren't impossible. Easy control moves to learn. Very likeable.

Review of Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Triple Character Pack (Eruptor, Chop

Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Triple Character Pack
Customer Ratings: 5 stars
Buy Now
I don't play Wii, but when my son was shopping with his birthday money, we saw Skylanders, and I said, "I think you need that!" I thought it was so cool (still do). The Starter Pack gives you 1 Magic, 1 Water, and 1 Tech. Naturally you "need" at least ONE guy from each Element. You can certainly buy characters individually, but it's cheaper to buy the Packs. If you choose two 3-packs carefully, you get 1 guy from each element, plus an extra Magic guy.

If you get THIS (reviewing) 3-pack (Eruptor/ChopChop/Bash) PLUS Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Triple Character Pack (Wrecking Ball, Stealth Elf, Sonic Boom) you cover all the Elements for cheaper than buying them separately. After that, you can add in other characters as your kid likes, but this allows them to unlock all the areas.

I bought the two 3-packs, but opened the packages & re-wrapped each guy separately. My son can "earn" a new (surprise) guy each week by good behavior and cheerful helpfulness. He got Chop Chop yesterday, and was thrilled to add an Undead to his team, after a week of only the 3 original Elements. He has 5 more Saturdays worth of guys (assuming he's nice), then he can select/earn add-on guys on his own. I felt that deferring the collection of characters makes it more anticipatory and stretches out the fun!

This package contains 3 fun additions to any Skylander collection.

Eruptor is a ranged/area effect based Skylander. He throws lava blobs at range and can erupt to cover the area around him in lava for a couple of seconds.

His upgrade paths with either increase the range, power and add an explosion radius to his lava globs or increase the execution speed and power of his eruption and cause it spawn volcanoes.

Chop Chop is a melee based Skylander. He uses a sword to attack and can defend himself and attack with his shield.

He gains a ranged "bone bramble" attack that sends a wave of spiked bones bursting out of the ground in a straight path ahead of him.

His upgrade paths either enhance the power of his sword attacks or adds additional counter attacks after an enemy strikes his shield and allows him to stun enemies.

Bash is a mobile, melee based Skylander. He strikes with his tail and can roll through enemies. He is later able create a pillar of stone in front of him to defend and can strike it with his tail to crush it, using the resulting debis as a ranged projectile.

His Upgrade paths will increase the speed and power of his rolling attack or the power and abilities of his tail strikes.

Best Deals for Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Triple Character Pack (Eruptor, Chop

To start with I'm a old school gamer and like games I can hold in my hands. I know sometime soon games like this will no longer be around. Anyway, this was a great addition to the game Skylanders. At first I thought the game would not be that great but soon found out it was one of the better games I have played in a long time. I love you can switch characters right in the middle of a battle and a bonus you can play your character on any other game system (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii & 3DS) and PC.

The game is expensive if you buy all the Skylanders but you really only need eight characters (one of each element) you can finish the game. So you get three when you buy the game you need to buy five more to finish the game. Most people go a little nuts and buy all the Skylander characters for the kids no matter what it cost. I think it's a little crazy when people pay $50, $100 or $150 for Skylander character when it will be $10 or less a few months later. I have all but Wham-Shell and have not paid more then $10 for any of them. I just waited a month or so until buying them. Skylander Adventurer Packs I didn't pay any more then $20. If people pay $50 for one they are just feeding the market for higher prices. Even Toys-R-Us is jumping on the bandwagon and charging $10 for Skylander characters and $25 for Adventurer Packs. Retail price should be $9 for Skylander characters and $20 for Adventurer Packs. People if you don't buy the Skylander characters and Adventurer Packs at that high prices the stores will think they are going to eat the product and drop the price.

Well I'm getting off my soapbox. Hope this helps someone.

Honest reviews on Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Triple Character Pack (Eruptor, Chop

As others have said beware the price gouge. Prior to Christmas, the individual figures were $7.99 each, and the triple packs were $19.99 each. With the shortage after Christmas, the prices have skyrocketed. Unless you have money to burn I'd wait till the manufacturer gets the availability under control and the prices return to normal.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Triple Character Pack (Eruptor, Chop

My son is 4 and Skylanders is his new obsession. This pack was great for him. Why? Because all 3 characters have a very high defense system, so it makes it harder for Skylanders to "need rest", and they have great attack power as well. Also, he had a little trouble controlling Spyro because of the speed. These characters are a little slower for him, allowing him to get a little more used to the controls.

We let him pick out this pack by himself (with a little influence) and he was super excited when it arrived. He wanted to take all three of them to bed with him.

Parent tipIf you don't already know, there are 8 "elements" on the game, each character being of a different element. You need a character of each element to unlock all the portions of the maps. We paired this 3 pack with Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Triple Character Pack (Wrecking Ball, Stealth Elf, Sonic Boom), to go along with the 3 that came with the game. This gave the kids ALL elements with the 9 Skylanders. Not saying you have to get the same 2 packs, but if you miss an element, you kid WILL let you know and you may end up spending more money.

The awesome thing about Skylanders characters is that if you have an Xbox 360 and their friend has a Wii, the characters work on all systems! They can take their Skylanders to a friends house and they can trade or borrow if they want. Just don't buy them one of the expensive ones and let them trade it away.

Also, I say my kids are obsessed (and they are) but I don't let them sit there all day playing. They do alot of physical activity too!

Bart and his sister are left with deadly campers, there lives are at death and need help escaping the deadliest camp of Springfield "Camp Deadly". This game is fun for the year it was made however that year later there where some more fun games that had excellent replay value. The fact that this game doesn't save just makes it even more replayable. These Simpson games are very hard often frusterating, I bought them so I should deal with all of the things that get annoying. This game is fun but it takes time, patience, and a lot of practice. If you like challenging yet fun games this is the title for you.

Get this instead of "Bart & The Beanstalk" the music in that game is a huge horror video game. I barely played Bart & The Beanstalk because it is horrible, and I played Bart & The Juggernauts and it is cool, Krusty's Fun House is the best Simpsons Classic Game Around! Even though I paid $.75 for this game it is still one of my favorite games and I like to deal with the frusteration because then you can make wierd immitations and prove the game is horrible. This game is great, but Bart & The Beanstalk I got for $1.20 is one of the worst game boy games I have ever played, the music is horrific.

I must preface this review by stating that I have been a fan of the NCAA Football series since it was "Bill Walsh Football". I have become accustomed to each year only having a few updates and modest improvements and those have been enough to satisfy my needs as a college football enthusiast.

THIS LATEST INSTALLMENT LEAVES MUCH TO BE DESIRED.

I play this game as follows: 50% of the time is spent in dynasty mode, 25% is spent playing against friends, 25% is spent playing online. With that said, dynasty mode is the mode that I obviously really focus on. I was alarmed to find out as soon as I booted up dynasty mode that it starts soliciting you to buy "add ons" that you would think would be standard. You have to pay an additional $2.50 per add-on ($12.50 for the total dynasty add-on package) -via the PSN store to have things such as a second pipeline state, a recruiting advisor etc.

EA could have greatly improved dynasty mode this year by releasing these new options as standard features instead of gouging for more $$$.

It's not that the add-ons are expensive, but its that they are unwarranted and it is a matter of principle. I can honestly say that this will very likely be the last time I purchase a release from the NCAA Football series.

EA Sports has finally made a challenging football game. Playing the CPU on Heisman mode is like playing last year's Madden on Your Level. The game now adapts to the way you play just like a real (good) coach does. You can't run that option over and over, you will get stuffed!

In addition to making CPU play harder and more realistic, there is a new mode called Season Showdown where you chose your favorite team and everything you do on and offline gets tallied toward an end of the season winner. In Season Showdown mode, you get points based on many categories including Skill (making certain plays yourself), Strategy (Choosing the upcoming play type while on defense and successfully stopping it), and Sportsmanship ( where good sports that don't go for it on 4th get points and those that do or run up the score get them taken away). There is also an online trivia component where you go to the EA Sports website and answer 10 trivia questions each week for points. During the season, each week you can play your team's game online against players from the other team to get points. You get points whether you win or lose, but you get more for winning. Season Showdown is a great way to show support for your favorite team and it also gives a rating so when you are in a lobby you can tell if someone who is participating in Season Showdown will go for it every 4th or not and if they know how to stop plays by looking at their Strategy rating.

Teambuilder is another new mode where you can go to the EA Sports website and create your own school and design the uniforms, stadium and player names and attributes and then download it into the game. And you can use your Teambuilder teams in online dynasties, which is pretty cool.

Online dynasties are better, you can now create a custom team conference by swapping your members teams with teams in an existing conference. For example you can swap all the Big 12 teams with all 12 of your dynasty member's teams. This makes it easier for scheduling user vs user games. They also fixed last year's bug where you talked a player into staying (from going to the NFL draft or transferring to another school) they and they still left. The recruiting process is more involved now, you can talk down other schools the recruit is interested ins attributes and you have a recruiting adviser that tells you when someone is ready to sign, is interested in your school or gets a call from a mom who tells some of a recruit's interests.

The other new addition is Road To Glory, which has been in the game before but is vamped up with a video segment on your player after winning games that is hosted by Erin Andrews, who discusses your play during the game with Herbstriet and shows auto saved highlights from the game. Look for a similar video show presentation in Madden NFL 10 which will have a video show for the online leagues showing highlights from members of the leagues teams each week.

PROS

Season Showdown It has brought a new sense of competition to the game, where everything you do helps your favorite school in the rankings.

Adaptive CPU Play You have to really be on your toes to win against the CPU on Heisman mode now. All American mode is as hard as Heisman in NCAA Football 09.

Road to Glory Your player is now ranked so you can see how others playing on your favorite team are doing. Plus you get to see Erin Andrews. lol.

Family Mode This is another adaptation from Madden, which has an easy mode. Now, you can play a tough game against grandma. Family mode is a very simplified set of controls where even your sister can make a TD pass. So now, just about anyone can play and be good at it.

PS3 Trophies For the first time you get trophies for your game play.

Tweaks to Graphics Close ups are more polished, although most of the graphics are the same. Marching bands are now shown pre game and they have added additional uniform settings and TD animations (My team, USF, can now do the horns hand sign after TDs)

Players Are More Realistic No More sub 4.3 40 yard dash players. Speed is not as much a factor as ability to catching or running through a tackle.

Ability to Tweak Team Play Now you can tweak how your D and O play on different aspects such as blocking or tackling, with choices being Aggressive, Normal, And Conservative.

Cons

EA has now gone the money route. Additional items, like "Dynasty Accelerators" where you get things like an extra pipeline state in Dynasty Mode you have to play for, WITH REAL MONEY! You want to be a 5 star high school recruit in Road To Glory? You can pay for it now, 2 bucks. If you lost your manual for the game, you won't be able to download your Teambuilder team to the game without paying for it. And if you want to download other teams you have to pay for each team. Its not quite as bad as they have done with Tiger Woods Golf, but look for more of it in future additions depending on how successful they are this year.

Adaptive CPU Play I know, I said it was a Pro, but its both. I am seeing players struggling in Dynasties that are set at Heisman mode, good players. When someone is ranked high against other players (top 1000) plays a game against the cpu in Heisman mode with Penn St and loses to Akron, you know something is wrong. Luckily, the CPU sliders are still included in this addition. Sliders can be adjusted to so that CPU and User play can be adjusted, like increase the likelihood your receiver will catch balls or your QB will throw more accurately.

Graphics and Presentation While I know that they have worked more on game play and features this past edition, it would be nice to see a better presentation. Not all the mascots are in 2010 yet, there are more in the PS2 version. Many of the lines of the commentators are the same they have used for several versions now. The graphics are pretty much the same, although you get a glimpse of some better graphics during the brief close ups after plays.

Putting your D on Aggressive Stripping the Ball results on face mask penalties on just about every play. Its pretty much useless.

The video is pretty repetitive in Road To Glory. Heck Erin doesn't even have a wardrobe change. It would be nice to see her change wardrobe, and spice up the video some.

Overall, great improvements to last year's game. Much of this is because Tiberon, who makes the game for EA Sports, let seasoned NCAA gamers have a day with the game early enough in development to get input and use it to change and tweak the game before it was shipped. They also did this to Madden this year.

UPDATE: The more I play Madden, the less I like NCAA 10. Why? On the harder settings its like work. And conversely, Madden is pretty fun, even when you are losing. On the harder settings in NCAA 10, one mistake can cost you the game. The game presentation is boring and rather dull compared to Madden. Even though I am #1 for my school in Season Showdown, I still am considering selling my copy. Hopefully next year EA Sports will take the things that work in NCAA 10 and Madden separately and include them in both of next year's offering.

I purchased each game in the series for many years. Not much has really changed in the last few years, so I didn't expect too much from this one either. The gameplay is imporved from last year dramatically. The CPU is more intelligent and seems to react to what you are doing better (such as coverage, play calling, audibles, etc). However there are time when you really wonder (such as when the CPU calls a quarter defense when you are in the goal line formation running the clock down). The graphics are imporved, however they are not as polished as they should be for a next gen game (at times they are SLOW). The plays themselves are a copy from last year, no change (could be negative or positive).

I mostly play the dynasty mode and that is where my main grips are. In order to be really competative in a online (or just a normal dynasty unless you choose the easiest settings or re-sim everything 20 million times to get perfection) you really are going to feel the need to buy those dynasty add on's. And those are where most of the controversies are. You just spent a ton of money to buy the game and now you have to go and fork over about a quarter of another ton to get all of the dynasty add ons. Once you get them, you come to realize many of them are just junk and do nothing. Why in the world do I care about an add on that gives me the time I spent with a recruit in a week? However the recruiting advisor however, does come in handy.

For EA Sports greed is the sole reason I think this game deserves a two star rating. Madden follows this 'charge more for add on's', as well as many of the other EA Sports franchises. If you purchase the game anyway, at least give EA Sports two cents about the extra money!!!

Honest reviews on NCAA Football 10 - Playstation 3

In the age of technology in which we currently live, it's impossible to fathom how a next generation football game takes a step back from '09 to '10. In last year's version, if you fielded a good team, you could manipulate the audibles and the defense would react the same way every time. If you needed 15 yards, you could get 20. It got to the point where I would stop calling certain plays in the playbook because it was guaranteed to work every time. That has been fixed this year but for several reasons, this game takes two steps back.

NCAA Football 2010 ushered in some unforgivable mistakes that sink this game all the way to complete mediocrity, such as fumbles when the other team needs the ball back, facemask penalties when they need a first down, and a completely idiotic camera angle which happens when you accidentally click the L3 button when trying to rush the quarterback (which happens to be the same button that moves your defensemen). Once you click the button, if you don't click it again in time you end up off sides because down causes your player to move up and up causes the player to move down and if you're trying to blitz the quarterback, you're trying to figure this out before he snaps the ball because you're already off sides. This happens to me about ten times a game, about half of which wind up in a penalty. I'm forced to play the other half from the idiotic camera view which is so worthless that I don't even play the down.

The worst of these miscues is easily the facemask. I turned the facemask penalty slider as low as it would go and I still get flagged for it 4-8 times every game, usually on third and 10+ so the other team can get a first down. The computer NEVER gets flagged for facemask, or any other penalties for that matter. Penalties only apply to the user and not the AI. This is unacceptable. Also, if you try and play conservatively with the lead, yeah, you fumble the ball and the defense recovers. I once had a 27 point lead in the 4th quarter when I fumbled the ball. The defense returned for a touchdown, kicked off, I fumbled the return, the computer scored on the next play, recovered an onside kick, threw a bomb for a touchdown, RECOVERED ANOTHER ONSIDE KICK, and slowly drove down the field and scored with barely any time left on the clock. I realize that EA needed to make this game more challenging, but there are better ways to do that than creating ways for the computer to cheat. A couple of other maddening issues worthy of mention include tipped passes and defensive AI. My tipped passes end up intercepted while the computer's float haphazardly into the hands of the intended receiver for a thirty yard gain. They intercept nearly every mistake I make while my defense will drop three balls thrown straight to them on the same drive. Also, the computer always makes defensive plays on the ball whereas you can try and swat or intercept the ball during the play and rarely does it ever work. I'm beginning to think that these "mistakes" are intentional so that consumers will break the disc in half in a fit of rage and go buy another. Seriously, how does this happen after twenty years of experience?

I learned my lesson with EA years ago. They no longer get any of my money. Every EA game I buy comes from Ebay or used from Amazon. I also wait until I can get them for less than $20 so that I'm not pissed when I get ripped off like this. Every year I read reviews just like this from people that continue to buy these mediocre games brand new. As long as EA is raking in billions of dollars in sales, they won't care about the quality of the product. If people would quit buying, then we may finally see a game with some quality effort put into it. Some competition would do the trick too, but EA owns the rights. Go figure.

I'm not going to write a long review of the game but I will say this: I own NCAAF09 as well and enjoyed it thoroughly (even though that game had major flaws as well). I think the real problem with '10 is the fact that EA decided to spend time improving the most unimportant features. What's more important - flashes in the crowd or decent AI? Seriously, Heisman mode is infuriating. First of all, EA doesn't seem to understand that simply increasing the amount of fumbles and interceptions in a game equals a better team. Also, simply sliding the speed bar of the opposing team to 100 is not realistic. "Heisman mode" should equal more completed passes, generally better skill, but not turbo mode. If you can deal with the annoying AI, then this may be the game for you. But until EA patches this game, I don't know if it's worth it.
