My PS3 controller crapped the bed leaving me looking for a new one fast. I hit up target and saw this. Coming from an avid 360 player i was sold on looks alone. When I got it home I found that there was way more than meets the eye. Not only does it have the same ascetics as the 360 controller, its not as heavy. It has the rubberized paint that gives it a nice grip. The PS3 button actually turns on the PS3 unlike a lot of other 3rd party controllers and now for the game changer. There is a switch on the bottom of the controller that when flipped reverses your triggers and bumpers... So L1 is actually L2 and R1 is actually R2.... For those that have never played a 360 having the fire and aim buttons as the actual triggers and not the top bumpers is awesome. Turbo feature is good, and at first i noticed some dead-zones in the sticks. But you can download a firmware patch from your PC right to the controller and it fixes it right up.

Pro's its a sold all around controller and worth it.

Con's the battery's are AAA, there was supposed to be a rechargeable pack released by the company but I have yet to see one.

So make sure you have some batteries on hand, but it does have good batter life usually lasts 2 days for me playing 5 / 6 hours a day.

For FPS games I prefer the "360" layout of the thumbsticks, and that is something the Sony brand controller doesn't have. This controller fixes that problem by being my official FPS controller for my PS3. The alternate thumbstick layout was the main motive behind my purchase, but the other extras were a nice surprise. The best extra was being able to use it on my PC via Bluetooth adapter. It's a 2 in 1 in that regard. How light the controller feels was a bit off putting at first, but I came to appreciate how light it felt in my hands. The curve of the handles and rubber of the grip gives a really nice fit for my hands. A must for FPS players that want an alternative to basic PS3 layout and/or for those wanting a cheap bluetooth controller for their PC.

Can you explain why it's buggy. What did you do to the controller to aim up on you on time? Did you reset the controller by using a pen to press the button on the back of the controller? Did you uninstall the firmware and reinstall it. Did you take the batteries out and reinsert them.

Honest reviews on Gioteck HF-2 Ergonamic FPS Controller

But its a buggy, overly sensitive and now it doesnt work at all for me. It aims up automatically, and i dont see any way to fix it.

I bought this controller because I highly prefer the 360's controller design, but currently only own a PS3. I read reviews for the 360 version and how many actually liked that version more than the official 360 controller, so I figured I should give it a shot. I am incredibly glad that I did. Don't be mistaken, this controller does have a couple of faults (which I will address later), but I can't express highly enough that they do not outweigh the benefits it provides, especially if you want a 360 controller design on the PS3. Many places on the internet you'll see reviews that mention the crazy high quality of the packaging, this is incredibly true. I've noticed since using this controller that I am playing first person games like Modern Warfare 3 with better precision and slightly superior end results as well.

The analog sticks on this controller are very nice, they have a wider base and end, but they also offer less resistance than either the 360 or PS3 controller. I think this adds to the precision your thumbs can aim with. I also enjoy the fact that it came with a separate pair of grips, I've used the rubber ones since I opened it. The only fault I feel that this controller has is the fact that it's wired (though the cable is incredibly long and durably braided). I think that being wired is actually a benefit as well though, because it feels more responsive than a Dualshock.

Now, onto the pleasant surprise of this controller, along with my PS3 I also own a gaming PC which I have hooked up most often to a 50 inch television. This controller is plug and play with Windows 8. As soon as you plug it in Windows finds the drivers for "Wired Tournament Controller for PS3". If you couple this with a key mapping program like Joy to Key or Xpadder, you can emulate keystrokes seamlessly. If you use a 360 controller emulator (like this tocaedit) you can even directly emulate a 360 controller in games which support it. In the end, I highly prefer this controller to any I have ever used, even though the price was steep. I just hope that the build quality is as good as it feels. Overall this is a fantastic product that I cannot suggest enough if you are willing to spend the money.

I want to start off by saying I just can't stand the PS3 Dual Shock controller anymore. The reason being is that my thumbs are HUGE. When Im playing BF3 I constantly keep hitting the D pad and instead of shooting the person I like either throw an ammo crate at them or health pack or switch to rpg. And when im playing NHL 13 EASHL with my friends I hit the D pad as well, changing the plays which causes my firiends to yell at me lol. I am a huge fan of the xbox controller. The controller layout is better than any controller. That being said I wanted a new controller for my PS3 that has a similar layout to the xbox controller. I researched different ones making sure I read about dead zones and stumbled upon this one. Aside from the fancy design, this controller was a perfect match to the xbox controller. I don't mind it being a wired controller because I don't have to worry about charging the dam thing all the time. It has a pretty nice long cord that is threaded. I really like how it has LED lights in the thumb stick area that you can change colors. Theres like no deadzone. Only problem is that of course with most games, I don't know why they don't change this but you can't switch the L1/L2 and R1/R2. I really hope in the future every shooter game does this.

Has a nice carry case. Thick braided wire. I've been using for 2 months now. It comes with 2 sets of handle grips, which I think it should just have the rubberized one. I wore a small hole in the center of the L stick (Fingernail), but it doesn't seem to get any bigger just worn in. Overall It's the best controller for non cheaters.

Honest reviews on POWER A FUS1ON Tournament Controller for PS3

I bought this on a recommendation from a pro gamer based on its durability and responsiveness. I've had it for over a month and love it!! I have a ps3 so it took a bit to get use to the xbox layout. Don't think i can use anything else now. Don't really care about the fancy lights but extra grips are definitely a super plus. Buttons and sticks are super sensitive. I'm really happy with this purchase.

I had to use tennis tape to make the grips fatter, but, after that, this controller is perfect for me. It does nothing to increase your BO2 score. No mods here. The buttons are much more durable than the dualshock model and the actual triggers feel a lot better to me. Truthfully, you could buy the cheaper Power A controller that doesn't light up, and you'll have all of the benefits of this one. Still, I use it all the time, and love it.

Graphics: 3.5

Nothing spectacular, but serviceable. It doesn't break any new ground graphically, but it's what you would expect from the Warriors franchise.

Sound: 3.5

The Music was appropriate, and did not detract or distract. The voice acting was good, but not overly memorable. The only distraction to me was the pronunciations. The in-game characters would often pronounce a name one way, and the cutscene voiceover would pronounce it another, and not what I have come to expect from the name pronunciations (at least from films and such). Otherwise not much to comment on.

Story: 4

The storyline progressed nicely as you switched sides, playing heroes from both Sparta and Troy, following much of the legend. Perhaps it's just me, but I kept remembering the film Troy while playing. Thankfully, the story goes into further depth than the film, and you get a broader historical reference, albeit creative licenses obviosly taken.

Gameplay: 4

It's exactly what I expected, especially from KOEI Warriors. It's hack and slash. A rewarding skill up system with currency you spend to increase your stats, buy better combos, and enhance your characters. The items you purchase transfer from one hero to another as you play through the different stages, therefore you aren't specifically levelling one hero or another. The maps are well designed, and the objectives clearly laid out and suffice to move the story along. My only complaint is that some of the secondary objectives aren't well explained and are easily overlooked if you aren't paying attention, but that lends toward replayability I suppose. I will definitely be replaying to try to pick up some of the objectives I missed first time through.

Overall: 4

The game lived up to my expectations, and is very enjoyable. It's nice to play something different for a change. There's only so many times you can re-live the Three Kingdoms era, and this is a welcome change of pace. As another reviewer commented, a multiplayer or at least a co-op mode would have made this game significantly better, especially given the scope of the battle. Even so, it's a game that will provide many hours of fun for any fan of the genre.

I pre-ordered this game form Amazon and it arrived yesterday. I have been playing it for about 10 hours now and had to pry myself away to write this review. The first thing any video game should be is fun, and Warriors Legend of Troy is fun to play. Is it ground breaking? Not really, although from the Warriors perspective I think I can safely say it is at least trying some new things.

First, unlike the Dynasty games, the story here unfolds in an interesting way, you play through missions as different characters as the war unfolds before you. The characters don't level, but you earn Kleos (basically currency) for completing missions and completing sub-goals within them. You spend this on upgrades that can be applied to whichever character you are playing. At first I was unsure of this, but after an hour or two the idea grew on me, it is an interesting approach. I also like how different each of the characters are from each other, they play differently. And, as a surprise, this button masher does require you to apply some strategy as you battle different types of enemies, and use different combo's and different approaches to them. Also, while many of the enemy soldiers are just basic cannon fodder, there are somewhere between 6 to 10 different models, so they don't all look like you are fighting clones, although there are not enough different models to say that anything to unique is going on.

The production value is very good, and the cut-scenes that tell the story are of a very high quality. I think the voice acting is serviceable, but honestly not really very good overall.

However, going back to my original point, this game is fun to play. The maps are terrific, the objectives very clear and they make sense and also advance the story in a meaningful way. The rewards system is intriguing and keeps you coming back. There are other mini-game options outside of the main story, and as you complete levels you can revisit them.

Honestly, this game exceeded my expectations (which were admittedly pretty low). If you like the Dynasty games this is a fresh take with some rudimentary innovations. Finally, part of what makes it fresh is to get into some western mythos and out of the three-kingdoms! Thankfully I did not have to put down the yellow turban rebellion for the one-millionth time here!

Worth getting if you like either the movie Troy, Greek mythos, or haven't played a Dynasty game in a little while and want to see where they are going.

Warriors: Legends of Troy is a surprising game. I honestly didn't expect to like it as much as I did, but its seemingly simple guise quickly revealed a much deeper and richer experience I had anticipated. It might seem to be a simple hack and slash but if your first playthrough (roughly 20hrs) is set to Hard, then you will be richly rewarded with a similar sense of accomplishment you may have experienced in Demon's Souls.

Having said that, the combat system is based on timing your attacks and knowing your enemies' attack patterns. Most peon enemies will be easily obliterated through your standard light and heavy attacks (which combine into various brutal combos) but larger bosses and sub-bosses will be a challenge (and sub-bosses are frequent). If you don't take the time to memorize enemy attack patterns and to formulate your own strategy you can be quickly mowed down in as few as three attacks. Boss fights are especially notorious for this and get progressively harder as each stage of the fight unfolds. You will die, and die often, until you learn the fight inside and out. For this reason, your victories are very gratifying and saving afterwards is usually accompanied by a sigh of relief.

When you beat one stage you play the next stage as another character. The story of the Trojan War is told through the eyes of roughly eight characters, each from Troy, Greece, and even an Amazon. Before each stage begins you have the option to equip items, which serves as the game's way of "leveling up," so to speak, since in theory there really is no way to level up like in traditional Koei games. Instead, each item has different properties and is better suited for different characters and during different boss fights so it's a good idea to experiment until you reach a good balance. In fact, this is an integral part of the game's learning process, and it creates a very dynamic and mercurial experience even towards the game's conclusion.

As you progress through the story you'll be treated to another highlight of the game: the narrative. Normally, Koei's narratives aren't as exciting as its cutscenes but here the narrator seems passionate about the source material and the Greek art style is simply gorgeous to watch. The combined effect, although minimal since it is after all a narrative, is still a lovely experience.

Even when the end credits roll, the game has plenty of replay value. Some of the trophies are actually great challenges on their own, and the additional modes outside of the story are excellent ways to challenge yourself further and to earn more Kleos, which by the way, transfer to story mode just in case you need to purchase a certain item for a stage you're struggling with.

Now that I think about it, WLOT is perhaps the most polished and streamlined of Koei's games to date. Combat is not as slow as Fist of the North Star and the ability to use combos comprised solely of heavy attacks goes a really long way to make the fluff between boss fights fresh and fun. Fury Mode, which slows down time and overpowers your character, is also fun and speeds things along as well.

With all that said, one truly feels a sense of progression with Koei, which is definitely saying something for a company that hasn't evolved tremendously over its lifetime. With such a resounding success as WLOT I dare not doubt the next Koei game. Bring it on!

Honest reviews on Warriors: Legends of Troy - Playstation 3

For me this is the third success Koei has pulled off in the past twelve months.

I got the Fist of the North Star one in Nov, then Trinity in March.

They have come a long way since DW2 on the PS2.

The game does have the same basic system, but for lack of a better term it seems a bit more realistic than the DW games. Combat is much more brutal, you are much more vulnerable. And the boss fights will put you to a real challenge. The look of characters fits. (No hot little warrior girls, the amazons are amazons, they are tall, and could almost pass for men with their build.)

The change of setting is something else they have needed since running the three kingdoms plot through six times has been done.

"Warriors: Legends of Troy" is not a bad game. While I personally think the gameplay should be likened to Final Fight rather than Dynasty Warriors, all in all, it is a satisfying beat-em-up that takes the player through tales of Homer, Sophocles, Vergil, and many others.

The presentation of this game is fantastic. The vignettes leading into each stage are produced and written well, and the voices (from narrator to each character) are great. The developers have clearly taken the time to read up on their classics here, and draw from many sources (as insinuated above, I was particularly happy at the inclusion of Sophocles telling of the death of Ajax).

But we don't play a game to read the classics. Thankfully, gameplay is solid. Combat is somewhat slower paced than a typical Dynasty Warriors game, but much more complex. Enemies can kill an adventurer who is underprepared, or isn't paying attention, even on easy level. Challenges add to the fun (e.g. you might have to beat a boss in under 4 minutes, etc. etc.). One of the best things here is that the camera FINALLY works. I don't feel sick when the game swings around.

There are some issues with game, however. The first is that there are only 8 playable characters in the game. This is unacceptable. The Trojan war had numerous heroes, many of whom appear in this game, but are unplayable. Why can't I play as Deiphobus, or Diomedes? Why is Patroclus the exact same as Achilles? In general, other characters play differently, but all in all, this game should have three times this number of characters, at least.

Far worse than the above is the fact that there are only 22 playable stages, and no free mode! I beat the game in about 6 hours. Yes, there are difficulty settings, challenges, and what have you, but come on. By comparison, it took me a full day to beat the story mode of a single kingdom in Dynasty Warriors 7. In W:LoT, you play each stage with one chosen character, and when you are finished, that's it. All that's left is mostly pointless grinding. There are some challenge modes, but this is hardly the selling point of a game like this.

All in all, I think this is an OK game. If I had gotten it for $20, it would have been great. I strongly urge people to wait for a price drop here.

I knew this game would get bashed. It got bashed by all the reviews of so-called critics and others. However, I had to put my 2 cents in.

First, I have at least 10+ people on my friend's list who LOVE this game. Not one has said they did not.

Second, IMO, this is a classic. And I also feel it is for the 'older' crowd who can appreciate the very cool humor this game has. If your over 40 you will love this thing. (Play on easy trust me)

This is more of a cult game, and, as with most cult movies, they bomb when they come out. They are panned by critics and then, slowly, & with a bit of time, they become classics. This is definately one of those titles.

Playability is smooth no matter what people say. The 'cover' system reminds me a lot of Quantum of Solace (another great game) and the voice overs are very cool. As the number 1 player in the world (XBox 360) said on his blog recently, it's very "refreshing" & "funny" and a nice change of pace.

I feel that the programmers deserve major brownie points for this title. It is so clever and filled with nostalgia that only a gamer from the 'actual' 80s would appreciate this. Truly, because of the new generation of kids, the humor, hidden jokes & level graphics are beyond them (with all due respect).

So, if you are a gamer who was raised with some of the first videogames that *ever* came out (Handheld Computer Football or Pong anyone?) then this title is for you.

It also would, IMO, make a great gift for an Over-40 couple who want a fun drinking game for a Friday night (on easy mode remember!).

One last thought. I've read numerous reviews on many sites as well as this one. After finishing this game to full completion (1000 gamerscore) I've realized that the developers did most of what people are complaining about ON PURPOSE. Namely, the silly 'Melee' attacks, the feminine running style of the character, the absolutely hysterical AI, and most notably, the graphics.

Again, if you're at least 40 or more, you'll appreciate this absolutely wonderful change-of-pace compared to what's come out the last few years. It's the perfect mockery to everything videogames were back in the 80s, 90s and yes, even up to today.

Kudos goes out to the whole team (who I know are reading this) for making something that is truly so refreshing and unique that I say, FORGET the bad rap. In 10 years, people will still be talking about this title for the plain and simple fact that more and more older people are getting into videogames everyday. And that is who this game is truly for.

Rented this game not knowing what to expect...and was pleasantly surprised. The game is easily beaten on its most difficult setting (there is one more difficulty you must unlock after completion) in about 6 hrs....tops. The game is quite fun, there is a lot of gunplay, and an assortment of maybe 14 different guns...maybe a few more but there is not much to distinguish a .45 from a 9mm in this game...but the variety of rifles, heavy weapons is nice.

The game allows for taking cover, blind fire behind cover, jumping over your cover etc. The controls are a bit "loose", but only gets in the way a couple of times. The enemy AI is OK, not great, and the boss battles are interesting, but nothing you cannot figure out after a try or two. The dialog is actually VERY funny, as it makes fun of all genres here. The game certainly never takes itself serious, and it really is a casual 6 hr game that would be best utilized as a rental...but I guess buy it if you cannot find it for rent and list it the next day on amazon to sell.

I say this a lot: "Comedy is hard." I don't do comedy in my own writing. I throw in some funny here and there, but usually to relieve the tension or because some amusing moment grows out of the larger narrative. But I can't imagine writing a full on piece of comedy. It's just too easy to screw up, because few things grate more than bad jokes. Weirdly enough then, the worst part of Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard is not the comedy. Not that the humor shines or even really succeeds very often, but it's more consistently enjoyable than the actual game play, which is consistently dull, mixed with healthy doses of crappiness.

A little background. No, you're not forgetting anything there haven't been any other Matt Hazard games. The conceit of this game is that Matt Hazard used to be a popular action game character from way back in the 8-bit days. The opening cinematic tells his story, voiced by Arrested Development star Will Arnett as Matt Hazard. He does his standard gravely tough guy voice, and it mostly works. The set-up made me chuckle. The load screens gave me a smile. Then it came time to play this ugly, third-person, cover based shooter and I was a lot less happy. It's not horrible, but it's not fun either. There's some interesting variety as the game mixes and matches genres from Hazard's prolific game past. So you might end up fighting cowboys alongside zombies alongside space marines. My favorite baddies are from a kids water pistol game Hazard was in called Soak-em. But there aren't that many of them and the weapons they drop aren't fun. Hazard earns some power up abilities as the game proceeds he can either make his shots freeze enemies or set them on fire. Except the fire's blue (I assume because it's suppose to be pixels disintegrating) and is totally unsatisfying.

There are a lot of jokes in the game pretty much they just throw everything they've got against the wall and hope some of it amuses. Arnett does a solid job as Hazard. Neil Patrick Harris has a much smaller role as the big enemy, but there's nothing he can do to make that crappy character work. It's not a good sign that my favorite jokes almost all happened during the load screens. My favorite was where it said "Tip" and then proceeded to just give dictionary definitions of the word "tip" instead of anything to do with the game. I also like that you get 60 X-box Live achievements for just watching the credits. So there's the game's biggest selling point: easy achievement points and some smiles interspersed with a haphazard arrangement of laughs. Which is to say, not really selling points at all.

Honest reviews on Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazzard - Xbox 360

Within minutes of starting Eat Lead you will learn that Matt Hazzard was a big celebrity back in the 80s where he starred in a string of very successful video games. Since then he has unfortunately plummeted off the charts (due to making a Mario Kart type game) and been out of work. Destined for a comeback he is commissioned by "Wally" Wellesley to star in a new, next-generation video game. But not all is as well as it seems--Wally really wants to destroy him.

Allow me to explain: When Wally was a kid he bested every video game he played except for one--Matt Hazzards. Taken as a whole it is actually an intriguing idea for a video game as it leads to an unusual take on breaking the 4th wall.

For instance kicking off the voluntary tutorial leads to Matt Hazzard exclaiming, "Great--an in-game tutorial. God I hate these things!" and "Yeah Yeah! I know how to shoot a damn gun!"

During the beginning of one particular level--in habitual third-person/first-person fashion--the objectives start to appear in the upper right-hand corner. As they pile on they begin to cover the protagonist making him exclaim "Ok! Ok! Can we summarize this or something?" This prompts the list to be consolidated to "Shoot stuff that moves".

It gets even more clever.

In one particular instance Matt Hazzard has to fight some of the enemies from his first game and they are literally 2-D sprites running around shooting at you. The real clever part is they purposefully become more difficult to hit by turning to their sides, thinning themselves.

But all this great material is simply overshadowed by the real issue--the gameplay. Though it replicates Gears of War in this regard, it fails to be engaging. The weapons have little-to-no kickback and lack any sort of originality. The AI is nonexistent and possibly inferior to the PB&J sandwich I had for lunch today. The quick-time events are slow and far too crude to be entertaining. The game is so unbalanced I completed 75% of a level using melee attacks that--when performed at the right moment--seemingly render you invincible.

It would be a bit trite for me to even mention to the readers of this blog that most video games expect you to slip into the boots of their protagonist. But in Eat Lead it's just too difficult to do because the games foundation is so weak. It leaves Matt Hazzard to be possibly the most apologetic video game character ever. He consistently looks back at you winking and nudging his way through the levels in hopes that he will distract you from the real issues at hand.

No More Heroes is a similar game in that it's self-aware (but to a much more mild extent). One of the glaring differences is the protagonist--Travis Touchdown. He is self-assured, hilarious and backed by an extremely robust gameplay model. In contrast I imagine Matt Hazzard would rather crawl out from the TV, sit next to you on the couch and entertain you with his knee-slapping humor. It ultimately makes for an awkward gaming experience that eventually falls prey to the same ridiculous paradigms it sets out to mocks.

I have been a fan of KOEI's Nobunaga's Ambition series. The series is like most of KOEI's games which means its either a hack'n'slash game like Dynasty Warriors or turn-based strategy like its very popular and long-running Romance of the Three Kingdoms series. Nobunaga's Ambition is more the latter. I can say that Nobunaga's Ambition was the one of the first turn-based strategy games to become popular. While Romance of the Three Kingdoms have had more entries in the series it will always be Nobunaga's Ambition which I prefer for being as detailed, engaging in its gameplay without ever becoming too complex and too micromanaging about every little detail.

Nobunaga's Ambition: Rise to Power is a port to the North American market of the same titled game which was originally released in Japan several years earlier. This long gap between Japan and North American release will show how dated the graphics and user interface in comparison to the more recent Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI. While some gamers will turn their nose up at the graphics in this game I will say that graphics have never been a strong point of the Nobunaga games. There's enough of an updated look in Rise to Power to make it look like a PS2 game instead of a PS1 title. The gameplay is where Rise to Power really shines in terms of fun.

For players who do not have the patience to deal with managing the fiefs and military assets of their kingdoms this game and all games similar to it will be quite the bore. For those who enjoy the strategy aspect of such games then Rise to Power will be a joy to play. While not as micromanaging as the Romance of the Three Kingdoms titles this game has enough options in how to build up one's own fiefs in terms of commerce, agricultural and military to not dumb down the game. The game allows for commanders who may have low military skills to be actually be of help by making their higher political stats be the main component in how to manage a fief better. In this way it makes all types of commanders usable in some way instead of just making the ones who are powerful military leaders be the top-tier leaders.

One new addition to the Nobunaga series which made the game a bit more palatable later on is the option of "Kessen". Kessen allows players deep in the game to fight another daimyo in a battle take all skirmish. If a player wins said battle then the losing daimyo will reliquish control of all his fiefs to the victor. This makes the game become less tedious once a player and their opponents have gained so much territory that trying to conquer each and everyone would be a practice in grinding it out rather than dynamic gameplay.

The real-time feature of the battles themselves is a win-lose proposition. It's a win in that battles themselves doesn't take as long as the previous type which had been turn-based. Where it fails is in how the units themselves are controlled. Too many times friendly units retreating from a fight will get in the way of a fresher unit in their attempt to charge an opposing unit. This pretty much stops whatever advantage such a charge will have. The many instances of units getting in each others way way too many times sometimes throws tactics and strategy out the window. At times its better to just let the computer play your side and let the battle take place without the player controlling anyone.

While Nobunaga's Ambition: Rise to Power is a dated North American port release for the PS2 its still has much to offer for fans of the series. It is to those fans that this game will be most enjoyable while players who usually can't be bothered by turn-based strategy games will most likely call a pass on this title.

I got hooked on the original Nobunaga's Ambition for NES when I was a kid after watching my dad play it. This time around the newest installment is very immersive and addicting! Creating your own officers is a huge feature to the game, plus instead of only having 1 turn per fief, it is divided into different commands that allow mutliple commands to be issued. The game flow is very user friendly and understandable. I feared the game might be too complicated to get comfortable with quickly, but it flows very well. Very good atmosphere, like being in a movie :) Great game! A must for any fan of history and strategy.

I don't have the writing skills many reviewers do,but i really enjoyed this game. You start with one country and work towards uniteing all of Japan.Alittle realism from weather, floods, and deaths to key generals adds some realism to the game.Originally I played this game on SNES,nd enjoyed it.I enjoyed this even more.Take your time, and save often.I say again......SAVE.OFTEN.

I've played Nobunaga's Ambition from the NES until now.

Remember on the NES when you could run around a mountain to avoid your enemies for 30 days? Simply hilarious... but I had so much fun playing the original for hours just like the Romance of the Three Kingdoms Series. YOu can't run around the mountain anymore being chased by cavalry units.

This Nobunaga's Ambition has come a long way from the blinking cursors on the battlefield (NES) to actual real time situations where you are controlling units simultaneously. It took awhile to get used to the controls, but I actually prefer it now over the one by one chess match of the older games.

I've beat this game with Otomo, Oda, Chosokabe, and Kenshin, and will probably unite Japan with Azai soon. I think it may be time to raise the difficulty from normal to hard. :P

I like the mini-stories / narrations that come up throughout the game. They seem to be the same throughout the different scenarios. It would have been nice to see more scenarios based on the daimyo you use.

I don't create custom officers.. I prefer to stick with the originals.

This game is my favorite of the Nobunaga Series so far, but I'm eager to play the newer one.

LOTR: Aragorn's Quest is a huge, beautiful looking, action packed RPG that manages to tell the entire Tolkien story in an entertaining way. There are a total of 9 large levels: The Shire, Bree, Rivendell, Mines of Moria, Fangorn forrest, Rohan, Helm's Deep, Pelennor Fields and Mordor. You will play as Frodo Gamgee (son of Samwise) in the Shire segments (or his sister Elanor if you are in 2 player co-op) and as Aragorn (or Gandalf in 2 player) during the main LOTR story. The game is a good mix of RPG and hack and slash. You will meet lots of people as you explore the different levels and most of them will want something from you (think MONSTER HUNTER TRI) and you have the option to ignore them and stay on your main quest or go off on their side quest and do as they ask. There are advantages to doing the side quests since they allow you to explore more of the rich environment of this game and they will also help your character level up (in many instances) by giving him some gift or treasure that will increase his abilities. Along the way you will fight plenty of Goblins, Trolls, giant spiders etc. Your main weapon is a sword that uses the Wii remote motion control. You will also get other weapons like a flaming torch and a bow. The bow will become hugely important during the final battle at the gates of Mordor so it is to your advantage to purchase upgrades for it with the money you find on your journey. Sadly, the bow is the most poorly controlled of the weapons so you may want to practice with it quite a bit before you reach the final level. There are also segments in Rohan where you will be on horesback as well as a horseback battle with some Oliphants.

The game looks amazing. It uses the same designs as the Peter Jackson films and includes the music of Howard Shore throughout the game. The characters look like the actors from the film and Sean Astin narrates the quest. Dialog in cut scenes often comes directly from the film soundtrack and it works very well. As you play this game you will definitely get the feeling that you are playing in the same world as the one in the film. The artistic style lies somewhere between fantasy and reality. It is a unique look that is difficult to describe but it looks awesome and is perfect for the Tolkien universe.

If you are a LOTR fan you will probably enjoy this game. Kids will love the Shire and there are plenty of kid friendly things to do. Older kids and adults will have a great time exploring this world and fighting the monsters and battles. This game got a T rating and there are some pretty nasty looking critters in it that might scare off younger kids but they can certainly play the shire games. I think this game in intended for a general audience and I have no idea what "hardcore" gamers might think of it (and don't much care). I had an incredibly good time playing it and look forward to spending a lot more time running around in this game. Once you have completed the final level, all of the game is unlocked and you can go back and do any side quests you skipped and find various treasures and items that you missed the first time through. I'm looking forward to many more hours of fun in middle earth. The developers did an incredible job with this game.

We are not avid gamers in our family. But this LOTR game offers hours and hours and hours of gameplay. My 5 year old and I had so more fun working our ways through all the games quests. We do not own many Wii games, but as a house filled with LOTR nuts, this was worth every penny of the $59 we paid when it was freshly out. Not graphically violent (e.g. not blood splattering). Done in a fashion that fun and acceptable (I believe) for some younger kids.

Best Deals for Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest - Nintendo Wii

I have mixed feelings about Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest. On the one hand, it's certainly not the Lord of the Rings epic I'd hoped for. For that, the Gamecube Lord of The Rings The Return of The King is still the best bet. On the other hand, for kids and casual gamers it's not a bad game.

First, this game is short and easy. For anybody who's played through the Legend of Zelda games, this will probably take less than 10 hours to beat and you will probably die only once or twice. There aren't really any puzzles, and even if there are the game system has a clue system that makes sure you never get lost. Even within that much of it is spent with boring "fetch" quests, i.e. Aragorn has to find something and return to somebody for a reward. Only in front of the Black Gates do you get the sense of an epic battle. In many other stages, the number of enemies is fairly low and things move pretty slowly.

Graphically, the game is a mixed bag. I love the mix between the realistic and cartoonish styles. The pastel color schemes are particularly beautiful. Also, the Hobbiton cutscenes and levels are stunning (for the Wii). However, most of the other levels and characters have good, not great, graphics. The non-Hobbiton cutscenes are abysmal, with some sequences in which the characters' mouths don't even move.

Another thing the game gets right is the Wii controls. The swordfighting is pretty intuitive and works pretty well. This game isn't Motion Plus, but it does allow to to swing your sword left or right, up or down. I thought the bow and arrow and spear could have been used a bit more, but as it stands they work well with the Wii remote. You might even find yourself getting a bit of a workout.

I imagine for kids and casual gamers though this will be a nice, short romp through Middle Earth. It retells the story of Lord of the Rings succinctly and allows you to replay the key moments. Also, getting to see Sam's kids is neat. However, I really do hope Nintendo manages to get an epic LOTR game, if not for Wii than for Wii U (sadly, War in the North isn't slated for Nintendo).

Honest reviews on Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest - Nintendo Wii

My daughter (who is 7) and I love the LOTR series. We only have the Wii. We love all the LEGO games. Based on the gamer magazine reviews, I decided to pass on buying this. Due to all the rainy weather we have had recently, I decided to revisit this game and see what Amazon reviewers had to say about this game. It seemed to get good reviews and the price had dropped to $20. After playing the game for about 4 hours now, I have to say I am very happy with Aragorn's Quest. Harcore adult gamers will hate this game. It's too easy and not overly complex. Casual gamers, like myself and my daughter, will love, love, love this game!! It is fun, engaging, intuitive, and visually appealling. For example, as opposed to all the Super Mario series, the storyline is read to you in many places. Good god, I hate it when I have to read text bubble after text bubble. It takes some liberties with the LOTR story but I found that it worked well with how the game is layed out. It has co-op two player capability. Player 1 is primarily Aragorn and player 2 is Gandalf. Downside is that the hidden items are not that hard to find and the game won't last seemingly forever (like Zelda). Is this as good as Zelda: Twilight Princess? No way. Is this game worth $20 and is it a good father/daughter/son bonding game? Absolutely!! If this is what you are looking for, then ignore the reviews from the gaming sites and magazines and purchase it.

I always like to have a game in progress, even if I don't always find a lot of time to play. I searched Amazon for some inexpensive games and decided to give this game a try, not expecting too much. To my surprise, I finished the game feeling as if I nearly lived through the LOTR trilogy and it makes me want to watch the movies again. There's an open environment, a main quest, and plenty of side quests. There are all kinds of power ups to find and items to buy. Some of the dialogue is verbatim from the movies. The game has a slight Zelda feel to it, which is the main reason I'm sharing my love for it now.

If you like Zelda and/or like the LOTR trilogy or books, this is most definitely a game worth checking out! It won't take forever to beat it, but it has high replay value to go back and find all the items and quests I missed the first time around.

If your getting this item just because of the rechargable batteries, then dont get it. The batteries that came with this don't even fit in it's own charger. It doesn't even fit in the controllers. You could tape it on so that it would stay on the controller or the charger, but I would rather just get another prouduct or other rechargable batteries. The charger it's self is awesome. I give it 5 stars, actually I would give it 10 stars if I could, but you can't do that. I give the rechargeable batteries 1.5 stars. They are still good, but its annoying that they don't lock in place. You need to tape them on to the controller or the charger. I'm still going to keep this item, because the charger charges the batteries really fast. I love it! The only thing that sucks is the batteries.

So in the end, if your getting this mostly for the charger, then get it! But if your getting it mostly for the batteries, then don't get this, get another item!

I hope that I have helped you.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is one of the best Gamecube games ever. I got it about 2 months ago AND I'M HOOKED ON IT!!!! It's so good, I just broke my wrist and STILL playing it. Heck, I'm gonna go play it after I write this review. If your a gamer who likes high speed games, you'll love it. If you like a great plot, you'll love it. If you want a slow and easy game, you'll love the chao raising system. Of course you will have to go through the levels to get the items requiered (My spelling is horrible...) to do it. The Battle system isn't all it is cracked up to be. Each one lasts about 30 seconds. Unless you're doing a race battle which takes about 2 minutes. The hero and dark story is a nice twist on the gaming world. Save the world, or destroy it? (man my fingers are starting to hurt from typing...) The bottem line is...it's worth every penny. If you say this review wasn't helpful, well it should of been. If you say yes, I'll write a beginning walkthrough to get you started-and hooked-on Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.

This game is Awesome! I never thought I'd be playing Sonic on a Nintendo console but he seems right at home on the fantastic Gamecube! I haven't played the Dreamcast version so I can't compare the two but the graphics for this version are amazing! there is so much detail and it's soooooo fast! When you start your main game you have the choice of playing the hero side with Sonic and friends or the dark side with Shadow and co. this makes the main game even more interesting. The multiplayer is also allot of fun there are seven mimi games three of which have to be unlocked (I'm still trying to get the last one) my favourite is racing down the city streets it's a blast literally!

This is one of the must have titles along with Smash Bros. Melee for the Gamecube. Like it predecessors it's a classic already.

Who would have thought that after the long Sega Vs Nintendo feuds that Sonic the Hedgehog would finally grace the Nintendo format?

Mario, Luigi and Sonic sharing the same hardware. But does "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle" live up to the hype?

Firstly 12 playable Sonic characters are on this game. The makers of this game give you lots of sonic for all the year's they've deprived us of it. And they deliver it in story mode (1 player) and multi-player battles.

There are 2 sides that you can play on, 'Hero' or 'Dark'. One trying to save the world, the other trying to destroy it. This is an excellent feature as it gives you double the game time. And don't worry about wondering if they're the same levels just with different characters, each side has its own storyline and own levels. The Sonic team did not skimp on missions. Also when you finish both the 'Hero' and 'Dark' one last mission pops up in the middle of the two. An extra stage indeed.

The multiplayer in this game is good also. You can do 3 categories: Shooting, racing or treasure hunting. The racing levels are the best as it allows you to go through past levels Versing your friend while attacking each other. This is depending on how many rings you have, the more rings, the better the attacks. A multiplayer game you earn is that of Kart Racing. Just like Mario Kart except with Sonic characters.

But what you do when you've finished the game and there's no one to play in multi-player?

Well, The sonic team have added their own versions of Tamogotchi called 'Chao'. You feed them, nurture them, teach them and make them grow up to either be Evil Chao or Good chao. A lot of fun can be had and it passes the time very quickly as you can also make chao fight or race each other.

The sound in this game is not what I would have hoped for. It puts voices to all the characters and its not even in synch. One problem I also found with the voice overs is that the characters cut each other off.The music in the background is also tedious as its bad 80's rock with annoying repetitious choruses. This was the main con of the game.

The graphics are good, clear and precise although they could be more sharp. But you don't really notice the graphics when your running 500 miles per second down a bridge road.

The camera in this game definitely needs work as it has a habit of getting into very out of the way angles which its effect is killing you as you can not see where you're going. But it is tolerable.

The storyline itself is also divided into 3 sections. Shooting, Racing and Treasure hunting. The sonic/shadow (racing) levels are the best but only take up 30% of the entire game. The shooting levels are tolerable with Tails/Robotnik but are pretty much just button mashing. The hunting levels with Rouge/Knuckles aren't as bad as people make it out to be. I found all the emeralds pretty easy it just takes patience. Everytime you win a stage you get an emblem which adds to your tally, if you get all 180 emblems you get a level of the old sonic 2 game.

So overall, here's what the game offers.

Pros:

12 characters from the Sonic series on the Nintendo Gamecube

Can play on the 'Hero' side or the 'Dark' side

Chao (Like tamogotchi)

Multiplayer

Lots of Gameplay time

Cons:

Music

Lip synching

Not enough sonic stages

Camera angles

Overall its a good game where the good outweigh the bad. I suggest you rent it first and see if you like the gameplay. Especially if you've never played Sonic before. But this game is definitely for the Sonic fans out there.

It gets 4 out of 5 stars.

Honest reviews on Sonic Adventure 2 Battle - GameCube

Sonic the Hedgehog used to be a huge hit for the Sega system. Now that Sega isn't a competitor any more, the GameCube has picked up this star and expanded its gameplay.

First, for normal gameplay, you now get to choose from a good or bad team instead of just one character. Each team is made up of 3 individual characters. You can be the "good guys" Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Or you can choose to be the "bad guys" Dr. Eggman, Shadow, and Rouge.

Each team through stages in their own path, and the end result of each path comes together. The stages are fun to play, as the various characters have their own styles of missions and quests.

In addition, there is also a multiplayer fighting mode. You can do an Action Race battle where four sonic-like characters (each with their own strengths and weaknesses) get to race along tracks. There are treasure-hunt races, and shooting battles.

For some, the best part are the Chao parts of the game. A chao is a little creature you raise from an egg. Depending on how you raise it, the creature can turn out good and loving, or dark and evil. You can then race your Chaos or let them karate-battle each other. It's your own little GameCube Black-and-White Creature!

Definitely a game with something for everyone, whether your gaming addiction tends towards racing, fighting, or creature-rearing!

Actually, I will give it a 4.6. There are a few detractors to this game, namely the camera angles and the fact that the BGM is so darn loud during cut scenes...

Otherwise, I don't know what to say. The game is campy and hilariously so. I'm not saying it's like the "Plan Nine from Outer Space" of games. The levels are totally rad. The controls are great and easy. The game is challenging, yet it is never stupidly hard (except for the Final stage...and Final Chase which drove me nuts because it would have been easy except for those blue blob things!!). The chao are disgustingly adorable; I could watch them for hours (castinets!). All in all, more entertaining than a Golden Girls marathon (best show ever!).

Yet, it is still campy. The storyline is cheesy and like something you would see on MST3K (starring....JOE DON BAKER as DR. EGGMAN!) but that makes it all more loveable. Doesn't Eggman have a job or a life outside of persuing Sonic and pals? Poor bloke, no wonder why he's tripped his trolley.

The voices are funny, especially Tails. He sounds like Degrassi Jr. High reject (Tails: Soonic! Have you seen my Cyclune yet? It can rilly fly, eh?) and Rouge reminds me of Sami from Days of our Lives. Also, be sure to listen to the Japanese voices!

The funniest parts come in the lyrics to the Knuckles raps. "I know that it's here, I can sense it in my feet!"--never has anyone rapped that passionately about a anthropomorphic red echidna. The "rock" songs are so cheesy and 80's, they should have been performed by Starship or Mr. Mister. Rouge's songs all sound like someone held Burt Bacharach up at gunpoint and forced him to compose video game music (not that there is anything wrong with that).

I love the two-player mode. My favorite character is thereTikal! It only really, really bugs me that you can't compete against the CPU! Oh well. The "desktop" themes are cute, too.

While not perfect, I think you get a lot for your money. I have not played a Sonic game since Genesis and I always thought the cartoon(s) was(were) wonky. It's nice to see the Sonic Team crew again. All in all, this game is cooler than the Fonz and Orko, driving down the Autobahn in a Delorean with Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen in the backseat, blaring Kraftwerk out the window.

Ah yes...LJN. That company is notorious for making bunch of the worst NES games ever in history. I do not believe a single game from them has been a good one. And The Karate Kid is no exception. The first reason is the controls. They are pretty bad. If you had played Double Dragon and made a transition to The Karate Kid, you'll find it a weird one. The Up button is for jump, and doing that makes the gaming experience during stage 3 very annoying. The second reason is that there is no variation nor creativity during all of the stages. And third reason, a lot of times, you had no idea what to do. Now, let's go to each stage of The Karate Kid:

Stage 1: The tournament. Believe it or not, I beat everybody without getting hurt by simply kicking. As a matter of fact, I do not believe that I ever punched in the entire game. It's been kick...kick...kick...kick...and kick. Don't waste the Crane Kicks in this one. All you have to do is push Forward + B to conserve the Cs.

Stage 2: Same thing as before. Kick, kick, kick, kick, and more kick. Every time I go to a bonus room, I feel like LJN has a fetish for swinging hammers. A lot of times, I don't even bother going into the bonus rooms. Now, this is the point where you can make the game easy or hard on you, and I will tell you how to beat the game so painlessly. Find a spot where you can do back and forth without a problem. Now, stay there for a while without advancing to the next screen scroll-wise. Keep killing all the enemies that come to you. Grab the C every 4 kills. Continue until you got like at least 60 of them. It can be boring...yeah, but it's a surefire way to win the game. Also, it helps you to gain lives (what the hell with the chances??) per 20,000 points. The best part of the Cs is that they boost the health by a couple of points. When you get bored of farming for Cs, continue to the right and kick your way out of the *blows raspberries* final boss.

Stage 3: This stage is the hardest of the game because it's a lot of work. Same tactics as before: find a spot and work for more Cs. Then, go forward. Every time you see a gap, I recommend not drive forward as you can because as soon as you do that, the enemy tends to jump from right side and kick you, being forced to fall about 10 feet away into the gap. So, time the movements well and jump over the gaps without being interfered with. There is a series of gaps in the middle of the game which can be mastered. As soon as you get to the bottom and you clear the enemies out, start going forward as fast as you can. Eventually, you will finally get out of it. This stage is a lot of work, but with some simple adjustments, you will find this part not so bad at all. Finally, you will meet the final boss, but forget him...just jump up the tree and reach for the girl. Stage over, no fight, easy peasy.

Stage 4: Now, you will finally understand why I said that you need to farm for many Cs and accumulate them as much as you can without spending them in the past three stages. The enemies are much harder to take out with simple kicks; however, by landing a crane kick on them, they disappear right away. Keep doing that all the way to the right; forget the bonus rooms. Just keep moving forward to the right as fast as you can. Finally, the final boss, if you have some Cs left, waste them on him, and the game is over. You won!

Despite what people think, The Karate Kid is an ultra easy game. All in all, The Karate Kid is a terrible game with no replayability value, and I actually hated the movie more.

LJN,I hate you. Take the best movies of all time (Back to the Future,Friday the 13th,Jaws) and make them into the worst NES games. This is a good example. YOU PRESS UP TO JUMP,WAY TOO DIFFICULT, AND VERY,VERY,REPEDITIVE AND STUPID!

FIRST STAGE:Karate Tornament.JUST MASH THE B BUTTON AND YOU WILL NEVER GET HARMED.Pathetic.

SECOND STAGE: Moves from fighter to platforming beat um up. REPETITIVE. BOSS: Again, mash B.

THIRD STAGE: Gets very hard. Never passed. MANY PITS,AND ENIMIES,BIRDS,FLYING TWIGS AND THE WIND ITSELF KNOCKS YOU INTO THEM.

This game takes a while to master, especially the side-scrolling sequences. For a Nintendo game, this wasn't bad, it just took some patience because in the side-scrolling game, you had to earn power-ups to be able to perform special moves, but if you moved through the levels patiently (enemies could jump out) the game was easy enough to beat. This game is about the second Karate Kid film, not the first, and you fight Chozen in here.

GG2:overture is somehow one of the most misunderstood game of all times, probably because of the burden of its predecessors.

The guilty gear saga is probably know for being one of the best 2d fighting game, and during the years have produced many titles with some new charachter here and there.

Now, at some point Daisuke Ishiwatari (the original creator of the game, and composer of all hard rock-metal music) decided to create something totally new, while the liege of 2d fighting would be carried on by another title, Blazblue.

And that's the problem. When fan discovered that the new GG wasn't a fighting game, simply hated it. And the fact that the game wasn't a typical, western RTS didn't helped the rest of the public.

But in short, what is Guilty Gear 2? A dynasty warrior clone? an RTS? a 3d fighting game?

GG2 is all and none of thse, it's a unique, competitive game that unite elements from fighting game, action game and strategy game into a new totally concept, defined as "melee action game"

The core of the game, usuless to say and stated many time by its creator, is the multyplayer. The campain mode serve as a training to prepare slowly for it, but it doesn't work too well, and it's generally boring, even if it bring forward the story of the previous chapters.

But, as I was saying, it's in multyplayer that the game shine.

The player control the army master in third person, while can easyly summon and move troops by calling the organ, a practic mini-map.

The objective of the game is to destroy the enemy base, the masterghost. Unfortunately, the masterghost is protected by a barrier, tha reflect the master attacks.

The servants (the master troops) can easyly destroy the barrier, but they have to reach it first. TO buy and unlock new servants you need mana, the game value. To obtain mana the player need to control ghosts, control points scattered around the map.

So, the basic lines of the game can be understood even from this brief view: you control servants to capture ghost, that gives the player mana to buy more servants, that will ultimately found a free way to the enemy masterghost and destroy its barrier. In all of this the player need to control the master, that can run all around the map in short time, destroy entire groups of servants in a moment and transport servants with him to release them in key point.

That creates a unique tactical experience: you have to control the servants, move to ghost, and always consider what the enemy master is doing and not leave your key ghost/servants unprotected, all of this while you search for the enemy seravnts, run across the map, release your servants and think about a new strategy.

Also, when a master encounter the enemy, the game work as a fighting game in all aspects: you have combo, defence and even all the advanced charateristic of the previous guilty gear game, like areal dash, psichic burst, roman cancel and so on.

There is many other charateristic of the game, but that's just a general overview

In general, GG2 is not an easy game. It has much to offer, but also ask for some work.

If you search for an easy game to enjoy alone, it's not probably the game for you.

But if you want a new, challenging experience that never cease to wonder, it's surely a must buy

Honest reviews on Guilty Gear 2: Overture - Xbox 360

I have been a fan of GG for a long while and was exicted when I heard that the next game would be an action game, but sadly it falls short of my expectations. Don't get me wrong the game is not terrible it just gets repetitive. Most of the missons involve a kind of "capture the base" where you and your enemy battle for control over "ghosts" and then once you've captured all the ghosts you must destroy the enemys "masterghost" which is their base. One thing that disappointed me was the lack of characters, the only ones from the original game series are Sol Badguy and Ky (but Ky is nonplayable) while the rest are newcomers. Also in the game are these things you can summon on the battlefield called "servents" which fight along side you, it kinda reminded me of Chaos Legion for PS2. Overall its a decent game if you're a fan of Guilty Gear if not you might want to look elsewere.

Winter stars is okay but we found a few things that could have been done better. The directions couldb be more clear. Levels for children would make it better too.

Pretty boring honestly. The game itself isnt that fun to play, it's ok but it's weak. The races are short for the most part and the driving is ok a camera stays focused on your car through turns which is cool but NO WAY this game is worth $60. Breakdown

Graphics-9.5 awesome graphics but unfortunately this is the best part of the game

Replayability-4 there are challenges to unlock cars an other things but nothing major

Physics (mechanics)2 it doesn't feel like you are driving the car, even when you choose the view to race from within the car there isn't even a steering wheel or nothing just looking at the road, this isn't the early 2000s

Length1...maybe 5 hours tops?? Really?

Enjoyment1 honestly it's pretty boring, it didn't make me want to play this game at all

I love NFS, mostly the older ones but I did enjoy hot pursuit but this game just doesn't appeal

Do yourself a favor, RENT before you buy. Trust me you will understand why after you rent it

Overall the game is just overall weak minus the beautiful graphics but thats it. If you are looking for a new game for xbox pick up Skyrim, Saints row 3, Battlefield 3, Mw3, Gears of War 3, Batman Arkham City, Sonic Generations even Forza 4, but not The Run. I'm not hating on this game it just doesn't being much too the table races too short an the little bit of excitement you'll have playing this game quickly vanishes.

Hope this helps

This game is good, but there are a lot of people I know will be disappointed with it. All the races seem the same, just on a different stretch of track. Personally, I don't mind because I can sit and play a game for hours, not caring whether I do good or bad, or what's even going on in the game. The graphics are very nice, and they used the "Frostbite 2" engine, for those who don't know, which was used for Battlefield 3. The actual story behind the game isn't bad as well.

Overall, the game will keep you busy for at least one play through the game, and if you're interested, for some races online as well.

EDIT: It feels like it's sort of moving away from what NFS used to be. As far as I've played the game, I haven't come across any "lap" type of races, it's all get from point A to point B in an expensive sports car. I miss the street/drag racing kind of thing.

EDIT #2: I'm finding myself to rage quiting while playing this game quite a bit. It seems like there's always a car in the same lane that I can't see just over that hill. It seems like the obstacles in this game are too easy to predict. Once again, I miss the old street/drag racing type of style. This feels a lot more like a simulator than an arcade racer. [Edit: it seems they have have patched it since I originally posted the review. I don't run into those cars nearly as much anymore]

This game is amazing. It has the feel of a great action movie. Before I bought this game, I was kind of skeptical because of some the mediocre reviews it had received. I decided to get it anyway and I am so happy I did. I think it is a must have for anybody who is a fan of arcade racing games.

Honest reviews on Need for Speed: The Run - Xbox 360

This game is utter trash. It's NFS all over again. Nothing new... except terrible game play mechanics.

Out-of-Bounds

The cars now must stay within the confines of the game's "invisible out-of-bounds" rules. The animated holographic boundaries previously found in NFS games that were solid walls are now able to be driven through into out-of-bounds territory. Cross the boundary line... even if you are heading back onto the road and you're automatically reset. And that brings up the next issue.

Resets to Checkpoints

You're allotted only 4 resets per race. After that you start all over again. I don't know what made it worse... the fact you're only alloted 4... or that the reset takes you back to your last checkpoint which could be miles back... OR that the checkpoint may place you in an unplaying position (speeding off the track for another immediate reset)... OR the fact that if you get reset before the first checkpoint, the race starts over anyways but with you having spent a reset. I always just restart the event at that point because why deal with 1 less reset? Which sets us up for another issue.

Load Times

Every reset brings and insanely long load time. Each EVENT brings and insanely long load time. Each event reset brings insanely long load times. It destroys the pacing of the game to the extent that it no longer fun to play. "Need for Speed"? Maybe they were referring to their own "need for speed" in getting the games loading faster.

Duplicating World Scenarios

While the one shining gem of the game is it's graphics and the world that's recreated taking inspiration from places in the USA, you'll find similar situations (track covers, city scapes) will recur if you drive the thing in one go. Streets in Chicago the you drive on while evading the Mob will be the same streets you drive on for the next race leg. Similar road curves (even a shortcut) are also duplicated verbatim from the Chicago area to the "State Forest" stage... just with new textures.

Car Selection

The game makes a big deal out of the cars it offers... but then it specifically mentions you're going to need certain cars in certain scenarios (mountains, street, highways each suggest a different style of car). That's all fine and dandy... but here's the snag. YOU CAN'T CHANGE YOUR CAR! Oh sure, you'll get to choose one at the start... and a couple times in the middle... but other than that you have to pull into a gas station to switch out cars. Gas Stations are located on VERY FEW event maps. Which means you might get to select a car on one event, but the next even you're still stuck with it because there is no gas station on that event's course map and then the car you chose might be all wrong for the event! Too bad... you're still stuck with it. If you're going to make car selection an important part of winning the game... ALLOW US TO PICK A CAR AT THE START OF EACH EVENT!

No Replay Value

The game also has very little replay value. Previous NFS games I've enjoyed exploring the world... or taking out another car and avoiding the cops. This one is just a single path... from San Francisco to New York... and not even all of that. Total playing time for "The Run" itself took around 2 hours (not counting the resets or the load times) and then you've seen it all. Oh sure there are challenges to go back and do... but it's on the same tracks you've already raced on. And the game itself is a challenge enough!

Terrible AI

The computer cars display insanely impossible acceleration and driver recovery capabilities. Think you've just pushed an opponent over the cliff? Guess again. But they can perform the same move and send you flying for... you guessed it... another instant reset. Or think you've passed someone at 190mph? Guess what... they'll go flying by you 2 seconds later without nitrous with you still going 190 but making it look like you were standing still.

Do yourself a favor... and "Run" away before it sucks $60 from your pocket.

After being extremely impressed with Hot Pursuit, I picked up this game thinking it would be a step up from that. Not true.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great game. The graphics are fairly good and overall it's a fun game, but compared to previous NFS games, it's nothing to brag about. Ironically, the aspect of this game that's the most boring and tedious is the running part. At certain points in the game, the police will surround your car and you will be forced to run on foot. In order to jump fences and avoid getting caught, you have to hit certain buttons on the controller. Mess up, and you have to try it again. These feel more like cut-scenes with a little audience participation than any type of challenge. I can understand that the hope was to give the game a little variety so it's not strictly a racing game, but if that was their intent, they should have allowed the player to control where they run and where to hide.

Also, NFS is known for having the police in the game. Sadly, the cops are only a small part of this game and many races won't even include them. This may not bother you, but if you're buying a game in the NFS series, chances are, you'll be missing that.

The game does have a lot going for it. Visually the game looks good and the selection of cars is nice and grows as the game progresses. The storyline is a nice element in a racing game, but it's referenced so infrequently that you'll often forget about it. Plus, you goal in each leg of the race is usually to just progress a few spots, so you'll wonder why you needed the story at all.

Overall, the game is still a lot of fun and I have a feeling that most of the negative reviews are from those who just expected more from the NFS series and were a little let down. But used for a few bucks, it might be worth it.

My wife is a great fan of the Just Dance Series and she just loves the ABBA musical Mamma Mia!. Whenever she is feeling under the weather, she pops the movie in and after a short while she is singing along. So, picking this as a present for her was an easy choice for me. And it sure got me brownie points...

GIMME! GIMME! GIMME A MODE AFTER MIDNIGHT!

There is a number of modes, I am sure you will find the one for you. There is, of course the classic Dance Mode, where you get to follow the dancing figures on the screen, trying to match their moves holding the Wiimote in one hand (only one is required corresponding to the gloved hand of the dancer). There is also a Story Mode, where you get to participate in a mini-musical with ABBA, enhanced with their original music videos, snippets from their tours and numerous pictures. And then there is the Karaoke!

I AM A MARIONETTE!

What is the use of having an ABBA dancing exergame if one cannot sing along, right? Well, this game got you (almost) covered. In the Karaoke Mode the lyrics appear under the dancing figures and they get highlighted with the rhythm in order for your to sing along. It is a very fun mode, one clearly missing form the other JUST DANCE games if it was not for the issue of the missing microphone.

MONEY! MONEY! MONEY!

For the karaoke to function properly you will clearly need a microphone (such as the Logitech Wii Vantage USB Microphone, the Logitech Microphones for the Wii or even the Nintendo GameCube & Wii Microphone) as, unfortunately, NONE is included. We had to order one separately. Of course, until it too arrived, my wife was far from discouraged from simply singing along anyway!

This is where the game looses the perfect score, though: the karaoke mode is a major selling point so UBISOFT deciding not to include the required microphone (which is essential in fully enjoying the game) was a bad (and cheap, I might add!) marketing decision.

TAKE A CHANCE ON ME!

Once you solve the missing microphone issue, you will be having tons of fun with this game. I always liked their sound yet I was never a huge fan of the ABBA. Nevertheless, I caught myself not a small number of times singing along their happy tunes as well. What can I say, their pop 70's mentality is obviously infectious!

RECOMMENDED!

So we get four friends together along with this new Abba Dance game, four "mature" women who would certainly be Broadway stars if only we had the time and lived in New York and didn't have other jobs or families. (And if we could sing!) This game has some challenging moves, but after a few sips of wine it's time to discover our hidden talents so we pick up our Wiimotes and throw ourselves into the rhythms of "Dancing Queen" and try not to throw ourselves into the coffee table. At first we're barely moving in the same direction with the dancers onscreen and we're jabbing each other with errant elbows or outstretched arms a beat too late. But we're determined! After several times practicing this song (and a few more sips of Chardonnay) we're into it. We're not only moving along with the dancers on the screen, but we're all moving together, in the same direction. Not hitting each other. We're good. Darn good!

At the next gathering of friends and family, we bide our time before making our debut. Everyone has finally arrived. Food and drinks flow and everyone is having fun catching up on each other's lives. Our eyes meet over the crowd. It's time. We turn on the Wii, take our places in front of the big screen, all four of us. The music begins. "You can dance, you can dance! Having the time of your life..." The room becomes quiet except for the music blaring from the Abba Dance game over the TV's speakers. In almost perfect (well, somewhat coordinated) moves we begin our dance routine, following the dancers on the screen, our singing a little shy at first but gathering steam as everyone watches, mouths open, amazed when they suddenly realize that we can dance! We're amazing! Everyone (who isn't rolling their eyes) joins in the singing with the lyrics on the screen. We are stars, at least in our own family room! We collapse at the end, laughing our heads off. Other guests pick up the Wiimotes to try. While we probably won't quit our day jobs just yet, we vow to get together again in the following weeks to practice some other songs in the game in time for the next party. Since there are 26 of them, we should be kept busy (and exercising) for a long time.

There's a reason these dance games are so popular and I think it's because it's a great way to get some great exercise in a fun way. And anyone can learn the dance moves and routines if you do them often enough. When you're dancing alone, striving for high scores makes it easy to keep the motivation going so it's a form of exercise you look forward to, rather than putting it off. (And you can sing as loud as you want!) Two thumbs up for this fun game!

Best Deals for ABBA You Can Dance

I am 27, I own 4 other wii dance games by Ubisoft, and I love all of them. I also love ABBA. This ABBA game is leaving me a bit disappointed. The moves are just way too easy for me. In most of the songs you just stand in one place and wave your arms around. The dance moves for each song are quite repetitive as well. Once you are 30 seconds into the song, you've already seen all the moves you will be doing. I like my dancing games to have some footwork as well as arm work, instead of just standing in place.

After playing this game for an afternoon, I must conclude that the target audience for this game is older adults, and that is why they made the dance moves so simple. They probably figured that most ABBA fans are probably older. (Not the case for me and my friends, but whatever.)

So, if you are perhaps a middle-aged person that wants to get some exercise, and you love ABBA, this game would be perfect for you because you don't have to be a great dancer, and the moves aren't very fast. I got 5 stars on every song on the first try, so I think the wiimote is good at picking up your movements, too. The scoring is much more lenient than Just Dance or the Michael Jackson Experience. Even if you don't get the move completely right, it will still give you a perfect score.

One other issue I have is that on the four person songs, there are no pictograms to show you what to do, so it makes those ones a little confusing at first. I'm not sure why they don't have them, I guess it wouldn't fit on the screen or something?

So just to recap: this game is probably great for beginners, older adults, and maybe younger kids too. More experienced dancers will probably be bored, even if you do love the songs.

Honest reviews on ABBA You Can Dance

I wasn't certain about buying this game, as the reviews were so-so. But, I'm older, and not in the best condition. After an unhappy visit with the doctor I decided to change my slothful ways & give it a go. ABBA is like The Carpenters...even if you don't like them that much it's amazing how many of their songs you actually know. It's perfect for me. Easy moves, still got my heart rate up, following the model is an interesting exercise in hand/eye coordination. I imagine you get better as you learn the moves. I like that I didn't have to go out into the cold to do it, nobody else was here to see what I look like when I dance except for the cat who took refuge under the chair. She probably thought I was having a seizure or something. I enjoyed it. I can't really do the yoga bits on Wii fit & I find the cardio stuff kind of boring. So, this is something to put into the mix. If you're looking for a way to ease into exercise you'll do OK with this one.

It's similar to a "Just Dance" except with all ABBA dancers & songs. In the Dance mode, there are pictograms, lyrics, gold moves, "x, ok, good, perfect" grading throughout the dance moves. There's also a stars gauge that indicates your overall performance over the course of a song.

Also has a mini-musical game mode where you dance, sing, & follow a story being communicated through music & dance moves. You choose your choreography & be part of a musical. Haven't done this yet.

I didn't expect a Karaoke option. This will be cool to try. I'll need to buy a Hudson Wireless or Logitech USB microphone to play this part. (Of course, I'm already singing along to all these songs from my childhood).

This game is better than I expected! If you like the old ABBA songs & like to dance along, you'll love this game. Voulez-Vous & Dancing Queen are my favorites but I recognize & like all the songs.
